Transcript
- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome int jag Zam this morning, Kinanaceiving, Brian Sexton, John
- 0:19Speaker 1: Oser with you today. The Jaguars coming off the tough
- 0:22Speaker 1: loss to the Texans last week, but now they're turning
- 0:24Speaker 1: the page getting ready to face off against the Chargers
- 0:27Speaker 1: on this Sunday here at EverBank Stadium. Let's start out
- 0:30Speaker 1: with our big things for you today, brought to you
- 0:32Speaker 1: by GEAJ Government Employees Health Association Benefits for federal employees
- 0:36Speaker 1: and retirees. Big thing number one is a big one.
- 0:39Speaker 1: It's an injury update on Travis Hunter. Coming down yesterday,
- 0:42Speaker 1: news that Travis underwent a successful surgery on the LCL
- 0:46Speaker 1: of his knee. He will miss the remainder of the season.
- 0:49Speaker 1: It's going to be out of football activity for about
- 0:51Speaker 1: six months, but he'll be ready before the start of
- 0:53Speaker 1: next season and training camp. Brian, we knew he was
- 0:56Speaker 1: going to be out for at least a month. I
- 0:57Speaker 1: don't think anybody's totally shocked he'll miss the rest of
- 1:00Speaker 1: the season, but unfortunately not what you wanted to see
- 1:02Speaker 1: it of his rookie year.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yeah a bomber, right, because the last game we saw him,
- 1:06Speaker 2: he scored his first touchdown and in the month of October,
- 1:09Speaker 2: we started to see some moments and John, I think
- 1:12Speaker 2: you were the one who said that there were going
- 1:14Speaker 2: to be some moments where he contributed towards a win
- 1:17Speaker 2: and in a transformational year. Right, a guy where he
- 1:19Speaker 2: was trying to play both sides of the ball. There
- 1:21Speaker 2: were some wins, but we still wanted to see more
- 1:26Speaker 2: from him. He was just starting to show that. It'll
- 1:29Speaker 2: be interesting to see how they handle him next year.
- 1:33Speaker 2: You know, if he's not ready for football until training camp,
- 1:37Speaker 2: is he's still going to play both sides of the
- 1:38Speaker 2: ball as much as he was when he finished.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a shame. And you know for the rest
- 1:44Speaker 3: of the season where it's a shame as I think
- 1:46Speaker 3: he really saw against the Texans where you missed his
- 1:50Speaker 3: ability to give you one dynamic above the x's and
- 1:54Speaker 3: o's play a quarter. You know, they didn't get any
- 1:56Speaker 3: first downs, got nothing going. Travis is a guy where
- 1:59Speaker 3: when things going bad, you can just sort of give
- 2:01Speaker 3: him the ball and say, hey, go go make a play.
- 2:05Speaker 3: My understanding is this LCL injury should not affect him.
- 2:10Speaker 3: You know, it should not debilitate, limit, or slow anything
- 2:14Speaker 3: that he had, which is important because when he moves,
- 2:19Speaker 3: he's magic. This should not affect the magic in him,
- 2:23Speaker 3: and I agree with Brian, it's gonna be interesting to
- 2:25Speaker 3: see now how you handle his load going forward, and
- 2:30Speaker 3: I'm not sure they know that yet.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Just one quick thought on this too, and I think
- 2:33Speaker 2: you guys might agree that day in London, his last
- 2:36Speaker 2: regular season action, he was clearly your best cover guy
- 2:39Speaker 2: and he was also your best wide receiver. That's the part.
- 2:43Speaker 2: We don't get another bite of that apple, so to speak,
- 2:45Speaker 2: the rest of the year, to see how many more
- 2:48Speaker 2: games where he would be that impactful on both sides
- 2:51Speaker 2: of the ball. That was the fun part about Travis Hunter.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Absolutely, hopefully with this recovery, with this off season recovery,
- 2:57Speaker 1: he'll come back and be the same kind of player
- 2:59Speaker 1: that we've seen initially out of the gate. Our second
- 3:01Speaker 1: big thing today is going to be turning the page
- 3:03Speaker 1: because unfortunate news in terms of Travis Hunter. Unfortunate lost
- 3:06Speaker 1: last week, but this team has to move forward. They
- 3:09Speaker 1: had the players day off on Tuesday, but Liam Cohen
- 3:11Speaker 1: talked a little bit about what they went over on Monday.
- 3:14Speaker 4: Yeah, we just talked about as a team that you know,
- 3:17Speaker 4: this game can't beat us again. It can't beat us
- 3:21Speaker 4: on Sunday at one pm because we're kicking off against
- 3:24Speaker 4: the Chargers and I have a very quality opponent coming
- 3:28Speaker 4: into town. We're back at you know, we're at home
- 3:32Speaker 4: and nothing, you know, nobody cares. Nobody cares.
- 3:37Speaker 2: It's just the.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Next opportunity that we have to go try to get
- 3:42Speaker 4: a w. I mean, that's the reality, is that we
- 3:44Speaker 4: gave up a nineteen point lead in the fourth quarter
- 3:47Speaker 4: essentially and didn't get it done. Their back was against
- 3:51Speaker 4: the wall and they.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Played like it.
- 3:55Speaker 1: John Wednesday's always kind of to turn the page day
- 3:57Speaker 1: in the NFL would focus on your opponent, not so
- 4:00Speaker 1: much what you did last week, but hard to shake
- 4:02Speaker 1: it off a little bit when it's the biggest loss
- 4:04Speaker 1: in the biggest comeback I guess against them, biggest blown lead.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and I expect Brian and I both got the
- 4:11Speaker 3: same direction because we've both seen this. It's usually by Wednesday,
- 4:17Speaker 3: you know, you have no idea what happened the week before.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Players are so used to that body clock, and most
- 4:26Speaker 3: weeks I don't think losses are very tough to shake off.
- 4:31Speaker 3: This one was different, not only because of the nineteen
- 4:33Speaker 3: point lead, but because you know, if you're two and
- 4:36Speaker 3: eight losing nineteen point lead, Okay, great, we just lost
- 4:39Speaker 3: another lead. This was a chance to get to six
- 4:41Speaker 3: and three, a chance to really feel like you're in it.
- 4:44Speaker 3: They're still in it. But it's tough and ninety nine
- 4:47Speaker 3: percent of the time. I don't worry about a team
- 4:50Speaker 3: bouncing back this week. Brian, you know, I think this
- 4:54Speaker 3: is a really tough bounce back. I think they'll do it,
- 4:57Speaker 3: but it's a lyft.
- 4:58Speaker 2: For the sake of going in different on this John,
- 5:01Speaker 2: I'm excited to watch Liam Cohen this week do his
- 5:05Speaker 2: work right. We heard him speak in the offseason when
- 5:08Speaker 2: he was talking to his staff and he was talking
- 5:10Speaker 2: about the fast and about how he wanted to coach
- 5:12Speaker 2: and growth mindset and all of those things. And I
- 5:14Speaker 2: really was interested in when when you hit that moment,
- 5:19Speaker 2: that alarm moment in the season, what we hit it
- 5:21Speaker 2: this week? You knew there was going to be a
- 5:23Speaker 2: game where everything went wrong, and in the fourth quarter
- 5:25Speaker 2: that's exactly what happened. So how does this coach take
- 5:29Speaker 2: his team through this week. I think if he gets
- 5:33Speaker 2: them through this week and they play well, I'm not
- 5:34Speaker 2: even saying winning but they bounce back and they play
- 5:37Speaker 2: good football. Man, he's like the pied piper right with
- 5:40Speaker 2: all the mice behind him. I mean, I think everybody
- 5:43Speaker 2: will be fully on board. I think this week is
- 5:45Speaker 2: about the head coach working his system and his team
- 5:50Speaker 2: to battle a very difficult circumstance.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:54Speaker 1: A final big thing today is going to be charging in.
- 5:56Speaker 1: The Chargers haven't been here since that's a memorable playoff
- 5:59Speaker 1: game back in twenty two. But their quarterbacks, they're head
- 6:03Speaker 1: coach now, are going to be coming in this week
- 6:04Speaker 1: after win off the Steelers. Brian, what are you looking
- 6:06Speaker 1: at when you look ahead to that game?
- 6:08Speaker 2: Listen, this is a different team. I mean, that team
- 6:10Speaker 2: is a different coach. The whole nine yards. Harbaugh is different.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Jim Harbaugh is an excellent football coach no matter where
- 6:17Speaker 2: he's been the University of San Diego, the San Francisco
- 6:20Speaker 2: forty nine Ers, Michigan, and now with the Chargers. You see,
- 6:24Speaker 2: this team plays a different style of football. The quarterback
- 6:27Speaker 2: has nineteen touchdowns and only eight interceptions, completing sixty seven
- 6:30Speaker 2: percent of his passes. They're seven to three because the
- 6:33Speaker 2: quarterback is playing better football. They've had some injuries offensive line,
- 6:37Speaker 2: running back, but they still play the same style no
- 6:41Speaker 2: matter who's in there. The challenge this week is for
- 6:44Speaker 2: the Jaguars to line up and play tough because John,
- 6:48Speaker 2: that's the way that John Jim harbos teams play.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Yeah, and really, until the other day, I thought they
- 6:54Speaker 3: had been undefeated and they were the tougher team in
- 6:57Speaker 3: the field. I thought they were pretty tough the other day.
- 6:59Speaker 3: And the Texans are tough too, so a close game.
- 7:03Speaker 3: There used to be sort of a thing with the
- 7:05Speaker 3: Chargers for a while, like they blew this team out
- 7:09Speaker 3: here a couple of times, and you felt like there
- 7:11Speaker 3: was a thing. They beat him in seventeen, they beat
- 7:14Speaker 3: him here in the playoffs. I don't think that's a
- 7:17Speaker 3: big deal anymore. But as you said, Ryan, Jim Harbaugh's
- 7:21Speaker 3: teams are different. This is an identity team. You know
- 7:24Speaker 3: what they are, And yeah, it's gonna be punch versus punch,
- 7:27Speaker 3: and the Jags had to punch hard.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Stay let's here on Jagszam. We're gonna do a little
- 7:31Speaker 1: this or that when we come back up to the break.

- 7:54Speaker 1: slash Jaguars.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I think, you know, we'll open up that window
- 7:59Speaker 4: this week. Get him going, you know, get him practicing
- 8:01Speaker 4: a little bit here this week and see what that
- 8:04Speaker 4: looks like Wednesday Thursday, specifically to see how he's feeling,
- 8:08Speaker 4: see how he's looking. I know he's very eager to
- 8:12Speaker 4: get out there and compete and play and make an
- 8:15Speaker 4: impact on our offense like he was doing before he
- 8:18Speaker 4: got banged up. So, you know, trying not to put
- 8:21Speaker 4: a ton of huge expectations on him or you know,
- 8:25Speaker 4: different pressures. It's more so just hey, let's get you
- 8:28Speaker 4: out there and get practicing again. Get catching the ball
- 8:31Speaker 4: from the quarterback again.
- 8:34Speaker 2: This oor ends, this or that.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Welcome back to you, Jacks, Zon. I'm going to play
- 8:42Speaker 1: a little this or that. And that was Liam Colein
- 8:44Speaker 1: talking about bretton Strange, his practice window is going to
- 8:47Speaker 1: open this week, which means hopefully he'll be back on
- 8:50Speaker 1: the field very soon for the scene potentially against the Chargers.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And we've talked about what a big role he plays
- 8:56Speaker 1: on this team and in multiple ways. But which do
- 8:59Speaker 1: you think he'll have a bigger packed on returning right away?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Is it blocking or pass catching?
- 9:02Speaker 2: I'm going to say blocking in the run game because
- 9:05Speaker 2: if you go back and watch the long run that
- 9:10Speaker 2: Travis tn had early in the season against the Texans,
- 9:15Speaker 2: he did it. I mean he came in on a
- 9:16Speaker 2: smash route and just cleaned up and allowed Travis room
- 9:20Speaker 2: to run. I think they've missed him more in the
- 9:22Speaker 2: running game than the passing game.
- 9:24Speaker 3: I'm going to say, yes, Yeah, I'm not being fastious,
- 9:28Speaker 3: but he's a player who matters in both very much.
- 9:32Speaker 3: And if I had to lean a direction, I'd say
- 9:35Speaker 3: running game because he's such a good blocker. But you know,
- 9:38Speaker 3: we talked in the last thing about Travis Hunter's ability
- 9:41Speaker 3: to make that one play at a given time. Brent's
- 9:44Speaker 3: strange if you think about it. In the games that
- 9:46Speaker 3: he played, how many times did you see a moment
- 9:50Speaker 3: where Trevor was in a little trouble third and eight whatever,
- 9:53Speaker 3: and they he got the ball to Breton on a
- 9:55Speaker 3: bailout once or twice a game. Yeah, I felt like,
- 9:59Speaker 3: guess what guys one first down in that fourth quarter
- 10:02Speaker 3: the other day trying to changes that game. So I
- 10:04Speaker 3: think he's gonna matter in the passing offense subtly because
- 10:08Speaker 3: he's not gonna be the ninety five yard guy, but
- 10:10Speaker 3: he matters there.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Well, how could we possibly know how important he was?
- 10:13Speaker 2: Remember he took over last year when Evan Ingram got hurt,
- 10:17Speaker 2: and we said, well, he's a good player. He's a
- 10:19Speaker 2: better blocker than Evan, and he's got potential as a receiver.
- 10:22Speaker 2: He had that touchdown where you thought, wow, he's really
- 10:25Speaker 2: got something. But did we know he was this important
- 10:28Speaker 2: until he was gone yet? No?
- 10:30Speaker 3: And I don't think it's overemphasizing it. You know, top
- 10:35Speaker 3: two or three players on the team maybe the best.
- 10:37Speaker 3: I mean when he's right. And that's a lot to
- 10:39Speaker 3: say about a guy who's he's really done four to
- 10:42Speaker 3: four games in this system. But I think he's a
- 10:45Speaker 3: core guy going forward who's you know, if tight end
- 10:49Speaker 3: was voted for correctly, I think he'd be a Pro
- 10:52Speaker 3: Bowl listen.
- 10:53Speaker 2: He also is a guy that they think has a
- 10:54Speaker 2: lot more upside. They think he can be a really
- 10:57Speaker 2: special player for them.
- 10:58Speaker 1: It's also like when I think about how I was
- 11:01Speaker 1: looking at the offensive line the first four weeks and
- 11:04Speaker 1: then after Brenton got hurt, it's almost completely different. And
- 11:08Speaker 1: I know they've played different, They've had other injuries along
- 11:10Speaker 1: the line, but it really affected my view of the
- 11:12Speaker 1: offensive line of how successful I thought they were early,
- 11:14Speaker 1: and I feel like a lot of that was Brenton
- 11:16Speaker 1: and I didn't realize well.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Run offense in this league is often misanalyzed, meaning people
- 11:22Speaker 3: think that it's when you see four yards of carry
- 11:24Speaker 3: for a back means you're getting four yards every carry.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Usually the big running teams have a popper two in
- 11:31Speaker 3: a game. Brenton Strange is the guy who has given
- 11:35Speaker 3: them that ability to pop it for twenty twenty five yards.
- 11:38Speaker 3: So over the course of seventeen games he does have
- 11:40Speaker 3: to air their game. You're talking point two or three
- 11:44Speaker 3: more in your rushing average. He matters a great deal
- 11:47Speaker 3: for how this team is perceived as a running offense.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Same draft class as Parker Washington, same school as Parker Washington,
- 11:55Speaker 2: and like Parker. It took him a little while, you know,
- 11:57Speaker 2: into his second season and to earn the time that
- 12:01Speaker 2: he got. And now, of course he submerges a guy
- 12:03Speaker 2: that Jaguars can't.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Live without, probably the most dependable on the offense right
- 12:07Speaker 1: now if you look at both of them, Yeah, all right,
- 12:09Speaker 1: we're gonna play a little quick fix. If you had
- 12:11Speaker 1: if we had a magic snap of our fingers and
- 12:13Speaker 1: you could immediately fix or make them top five in
- 12:16Speaker 1: their position groups, the offensive line or the defensive line.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Which one would you magically snap your fingers and fix.
- 12:25Speaker 3: If I had had ability, I wouldn't waste it on this. No,
- 12:28Speaker 3: only I'll go defensive line because I think the offensive
- 12:37Speaker 3: line is okay, or than the defensive line right now
- 12:43Speaker 3: and the pressure on the passer, I'll go defensive line.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Just the disruption, although as soon as I say that
- 12:53Speaker 3: they are stopping the run, okay, this is not a
- 12:55Speaker 3: lost cause on either side of these these but getting
- 12:59Speaker 3: more pressure, getting impact, impactful pressure, probably because it's fresh
- 13:02Speaker 3: off the other day.
- 13:04Speaker 2: I would say the same thing the defensive line. And
- 13:06Speaker 2: plus we think Brent and Strange will help with the offensive,
- 13:08Speaker 2: like can I had another position group?
- 13:09Speaker 1: Do it?
- 13:09Speaker 2: What do you want to pay safety. I think the
- 13:11Speaker 2: middle of the field is a major problem for this
- 13:14Speaker 2: team right now. The two guys that you've planned on
- 13:16Speaker 2: being your guys are both on INJURR reserve, Eric Murray
- 13:18Speaker 2: the veteran, and Caleb Bransall, the third round pick. And
- 13:22Speaker 2: you're playing with Dewey who's a hard charging guy and
- 13:26Speaker 2: everyone loves him. And you're playing with Antonio Johnson who
- 13:29Speaker 2: just doesn't look like he has the awareness to play
- 13:32Speaker 2: safety on an every down basis. He's more of a
- 13:36Speaker 2: of a dime linebacker. He's more of a special guy,
- 13:39Speaker 2: has a package for him. I think you've got to
- 13:41Speaker 2: show up the middle of the field, in the deep third,
- 13:44Speaker 2: in the middle of the field. I try to find
- 13:46Speaker 2: that group and make them special.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Wave it over, let's just do a full swing. This
- 13:54Speaker 3: is not meant to say that all these positions are
- 13:58Speaker 3: week right now. You're five and four, and there are
- 14:00Speaker 3: definitely paths to get to where you wanna go. But
- 14:04Speaker 3: we c we go the sceam closely, and we can
- 14:06Speaker 3: see certain things that if they were just getting a
- 14:08Speaker 3: little more done there, and uh, you know, a receiver,
- 14:11Speaker 3: Frankly is one of those spots right now where aside
- 14:15Speaker 3: from Parker, Washington, we need people to step up on
- 14:17Speaker 3: this seam and bodies.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Yes, lots of lots of lots of things that can
- 14:21Speaker 1: be improved upon. So stay with us here on Jagzam.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Coming up after the rake, we'll talk a little bit
- 14:25Speaker 1: about some headlines around the NFL. For twelve years, Dreamfinder's

- 14:36Speaker 1: builder of the Jacksonville Jaguarts. Was a Dreamfinder's Homes dot

- 14:47Speaker 1: dot com. Welcome back into Jagsam. We're gonna do our
- 14:51Speaker 1: best to check in on some of the headlines. Lots
- 14:53Speaker 1: of stuff going on around the NFL. If you were
- 14:55Speaker 1: up early on Sunday, the Cults were playing in Germany
- 14:59Speaker 1: against the Falcons, went to overtime. Would have been nice
- 15:02Speaker 1: if the Colts lost the game once in a while.
- 15:04Speaker 1: But Jonathan Taylor had himself another day.
- 15:07Speaker 2: A couple of years ago, I think he was a rookie.
- 15:09Speaker 2: He ran for two hundred and fifty six yards against
- 15:12Speaker 2: this team, and I thought, Wow. And he hasn't been
- 15:15Speaker 2: able to stay healthy through of course of a season.
- 15:16Speaker 2: He's had to put in ankle injuries. But when you
- 15:19Speaker 2: look at this Colts offense right now, it all runs
- 15:21Speaker 2: through him. His ability to pound out for John or
- 15:25Speaker 2: to get forty four has made Daniel Jones the best
- 15:29Speaker 2: version of himself. And the guy that I think I
- 15:31Speaker 2: enjoy the most is Tyler Warren, their rookie tight end
- 15:34Speaker 2: from Penn State. He is such a Swiss army knife
- 15:37Speaker 2: of a player. They've lined him up at quarterback in
- 15:39Speaker 2: the shotgun, They've put him on the line of scrimmage,
- 15:42Speaker 2: they've lined him up as a receiver. This Colts team
- 15:45Speaker 2: is going to be really hard to catch.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Yeah, they're good, and they compliment each other in the
- 15:50Speaker 3: sense of because they run the ball well, they're usually
- 15:53Speaker 3: in good down in distance, and then when they get
- 15:55Speaker 3: in a bind. Warren is good enough't watch any Colts
- 16:00Speaker 3: team start to finish, but I've seen snippets. It seems
- 16:03Speaker 3: like every time you look up he's he's getting a
- 16:05Speaker 3: big third and seven where you're like, oh, they were
- 16:08Speaker 3: so close to getting out you know, so I think
- 16:10Speaker 3: he's that guy. This is they made the sauce Gardener
- 16:15Speaker 3: trade because they understand the reality of the situation they're in. Uh,
- 16:20Speaker 3: with a running back, you have a much shorter window.
- 16:24Speaker 3: It's not when I was with the Colts that they
- 16:28Speaker 3: used to be asked about the window all the time,
- 16:29Speaker 3: and they used to point at Peyton and say, as
- 16:31Speaker 3: long as he's standing, that's our window. That's not the
- 16:33Speaker 3: case with the running back. It's now for them and
- 16:36Speaker 3: he's at the prime of his powers there and they
- 16:38Speaker 3: need to take advantage of it right now.
- 16:39Speaker 2: If he stays healthy, he's got to run in him.
- 16:41Speaker 2: If he doesn't Kuy, if he has the same sort
- 16:43Speaker 2: of ankle injury that cost him time in recent seasons,
- 16:46Speaker 2: they aren't gonna make a run. He is that important
- 16:48Speaker 2: to what they do.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Absolutely, they're pushing the chips in though. For that trade
- 16:51Speaker 1: for sauce Gardener. They're going for it right now. They're
- 16:53Speaker 1: in a bye week next week, so at least we
- 16:55Speaker 1: know there won't be another win this week, So there's
- 16:56Speaker 1: that Also around the league. Brian day Ball fired by
- 17:00Speaker 1: the Giants the other day on Monday after an interesting tenure.
- 17:07Speaker 1: He's had there, right, he thinks he's got Jackson Dart going,
- 17:10Speaker 1: thinks there's something more going on. Then that's not quite
- 17:13Speaker 1: panning out right now. He's still playing well but being
- 17:14Speaker 1: injured now with concussions, and then they're keeping the gm
- 17:18Speaker 1: as for now. Interesting to see how different franchises kind
- 17:21Speaker 1: of go about this, because the Dolphins have not fired
- 17:23Speaker 1: their coach but fired their GM at during the season,
- 17:27Speaker 1: So just interesting how different franchises are doing this.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it's hard to know. Always hesitate to try to
- 17:34Speaker 3: break down another team's coaching situation cause you're not close
- 17:38Speaker 3: to it, so you don't know how players are responding
- 17:40Speaker 3: to the coach. But they were a playoff team his
- 17:43Speaker 3: first year and had felt like there was hope each
- 17:49Speaker 3: year and then it just never worked out. Wasn't surprised
- 17:54Speaker 3: when that move was made Monday. And boy, it's been
- 17:59Speaker 3: when I was a kid, and it's been a long
- 18:01Speaker 3: time ago. Back in the twenties, the Jets and the
- 18:05Speaker 3: Giants were both down franchised and for a long time
- 18:09Speaker 3: one of the teams has been up. And it's it's
- 18:12Speaker 3: as low in New York football has been probably since
- 18:17Speaker 3: the seventies.
- 18:18Speaker 2: It's not good for the league to have both.
- 18:20Speaker 3: The league office is not is not big on that situation.
- 18:23Speaker 2: He was brought in because of how he helped Josh Allen,
- 18:26Speaker 2: you know, take that next step. And so I understand
- 18:29Speaker 2: that the quarterback whisperer thing is something people want to
- 18:31Speaker 2: talk about. They want to blame him for not getting
- 18:34Speaker 2: more out of the quarterback position.
- 18:35Speaker 3: But sometimes that's about the guy you're let you're whispering.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no, I totally agree with that. They haven't
- 18:41Speaker 2: had that, But I would say that that my perspective
- 18:44Speaker 2: on him changed when he let Saquon Barkley leave, right.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I know he's not the general manager, but the Eagles
- 18:49Speaker 2: got two thousand yards out of a guy that the
- 18:51Speaker 2: Giants just really had no interest in.
- 18:53Speaker 3: And he wanted to stay. And like, how do you.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Miss how do you mishandle that? I mean, Barkley is
- 18:58Speaker 2: such a talent, and I know he's a running back
- 19:01Speaker 2: and he's a guy who plays with power and so
- 19:03Speaker 2: his career longevity, right, maybe they were looking at that
- 19:06Speaker 2: and I don't know all the details, but just on surface,
- 19:09Speaker 2: if you can't get what he is and what he's
- 19:13Speaker 2: capable of and use that, you probably don't deserve to
- 19:16Speaker 2: be the head coach of the New York Giants.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I know we talk a lot about running backs and
- 19:19Speaker 1: their lifespans are short, but there's probably you know, a
- 19:22Speaker 1: handful that you would give the money to, and Saque's
- 19:24Speaker 1: certainly one of them.
- 19:25Speaker 2: It's not an important position, right, But we've talked about
- 19:27Speaker 2: Jonathan Taylor and Saquon Barkley in our first two stories.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Here absolutely all right, our final ones. We're going to
- 19:32Speaker 1: talk a little bit well facing them next week, but
- 19:34Speaker 1: we're heading to Arizona. Kyler Murray's gone to injured reserve.
- 19:37Speaker 1: There seems like a situation where they might be trying
- 19:40Speaker 1: to potentially move on from him at the end of
- 19:42Speaker 1: the year as well. So an interesting kind of playout
- 19:44Speaker 1: situation there with what they thought was their franchise quarterback.
- 19:47Speaker 1: He might end up playing somewhere else.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Yeah, he got a five year, ninety six million dollar contract.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it seems like it seems like a ship of
- 19:56Speaker 3: sale there.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I perform would.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Rather the Jaguars be playing the Cardinals with Kyler Murray
- 20:03Speaker 3: on the field because I need to have a better
- 20:06Speaker 3: chance at it. So it it certainly feels like he's
- 20:11Speaker 3: been a dynamic player. I don't know how well he
- 20:13Speaker 3: wins from the pocket.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Well, and you've got Marvin Harrison Junior, who you took
- 20:18Speaker 2: high in the draft last year, who has underachieved. So
- 20:22Speaker 2: you need a quarterback, a steady passing quarterback like Jacoby
- 20:26Speaker 2: Brissett to try to bring it out. And but they're
- 20:29Speaker 2: gonna eat fifty sixty million dollars in cap room next
- 20:33Speaker 2: year because of the guaranteed money that they gave Kyler Murray.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Yeah, see what that looks, and his next path will
- 20:37Speaker 3: be interesting.
- 20:39Speaker 2: You gonna be baseball?
- 20:40Speaker 3: Oh no, I would Well, that's a.
- 20:44Speaker 2: First round pick in baseball too.
- 20:45Speaker 3: It seems like that's a long layoff to go back
- 20:49Speaker 3: and get a timing sport like baseball back. But what
- 20:54Speaker 3: do I know. I'm just an old sports prayer. Bak
- 20:58Speaker 3: a ball.
- 20:59Speaker 1: It's just like the back, I think right pitching baseball?
- 21:01Speaker 2: Maybe, No, what positions to you? A short stop? We're
- 21:04Speaker 2: not fielder?
- 21:06Speaker 3: Yeah again, yeah, we don't cover it. Don't take my opinion.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I think you might try to stick with football. Stay
- 21:15Speaker 1: loads here on jag Zam. We will be right back.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I'll tell you what's going on the rest of the week.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Here Daguars versus Chargers game this weekend is delivered by
- 21:28Speaker 1: c s X also drags fans on Tuesday, November eighteenth,
- 21:31Speaker 1: from five to six at the Public's at University Square
- 21:34Speaker 1: at twenty eight to seventy five University Boulevard to B J.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Green the second Danny Strigo, bay Shall Tooton and Colin
- 21:41Speaker 1: Sanders Senior of your Jacksonville Jaguars as well as Jacksonville
- 21:44Speaker 1: and the Roar members as well for special appearance publics
- 21:47Speaker 1: where shopping is a pleasure. Back here, we're gonna hear
- 21:52Speaker 1: from head coach Liam Cohen in a little bit here
- 21:55Speaker 1: this morning. On Wednesday, we'll get an update. Obviously, we
- 21:58Speaker 1: heard about Travis Hunter old out for the rest of
- 22:00Speaker 1: the season. That's a blow on both sides of football.
- 22:03Speaker 1: So frustrating there, but got to turn the page and
- 22:05Speaker 1: look ahead.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I talked earlier about how I was
- 22:07Speaker 2: excited to see how the coach handles this. You know,
- 22:10Speaker 2: he intimated that there could be some lineup changes. I mean,
- 22:13Speaker 2: you're in the middle of the season, you have a
- 22:14Speaker 2: fifty three men roster. It's not like you can go crazy.
- 22:17Speaker 2: But there are some places that I think I would
- 22:19Speaker 2: look at left tackle, I said the other day would
- 22:21Speaker 2: be one I'd look at based on the way that
- 22:24Speaker 2: he is playing. So I'll be interested to see, you know,
- 22:27Speaker 2: now that they've had forty eight hours plus to digest it,
- 22:31Speaker 2: what they think they can do to make these eight
- 22:34Speaker 2: games left the most productive they can.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Yeah, and watch the defensive line on that front too.
- 22:39Speaker 3: It's harder to know if there's quote lineup change in
- 22:43Speaker 3: the defensive line because they rritate. But I think you
- 22:45Speaker 3: might see different players emphasized in different spots.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Strugaro and Green do they get more opportunities to rush
- 22:51Speaker 2: the past?
- 22:51Speaker 3: I mean at some point.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I mean you've got Josh Allen and you've got Trayvon Walker,
- 22:56Speaker 2: two first round picks, you know, two highly paid guys.
- 22:58Speaker 2: I'm not saying that Green Strig are going to change it,
- 23:01Speaker 2: but maybe in concert, in places where you do things
- 23:04Speaker 2: completely different, put some of those guys on the field.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Together and the backups behind Josh and Trayvon. We haven't
- 23:09Speaker 1: seen a ton of production out of so I think
- 23:10Speaker 1: it's fair to maybe rotate that a little bit more,
- 23:12Speaker 1: but keep an eye on things and then we'll be
- 23:14Speaker 1: back here tomorrow. And Jag ZAM to talk all about
- 23:16Speaker 1: the chargers,
