Jesus: is one of them Fridays that is for sure bro I am yeah Nolan: Also shout out to my IT guy, know, Jonathan went to the office today for work and he was trying to fix my work laptop. There was a lot of issues going on and Homie was just like, well things were, you know, configuring. He's like, you want to see something cool? He pulls out this bare bones homemade PC, you know, yeah, GPU, all that good stuff, but like no case. was just like rigged up. He's like, I'm just gonna fire up steam really quick and he just in the office. I was like my man Alright, alright ⁓ Yeah, but ⁓ The work is done. We are here now ⁓ and We got some things to talk about and unfortunately It is it is one of those weeks we do got to share that there was unfortunately the passing of the Immortal if you will the great Jesus: ⁓ man. Let's go. Nolan: the revered Chuck Norris, ⁓ a man that has lived through many eras, many styles of work. as well as a plethora of Chuck Norris jokes well deserved. ⁓ The star of the Walker Texas Ranger, he was in a lot of martial arts film including one where he faced off against the great Bruce Lee himself. He's also done a ton of smaller but influential work as well. He, unfortunately, did pass away. There were some health complications, but from what I understood from the article, he did pass quietly, peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, which is the most you can really ask for, for anyone. Jalen, any thoughts on the great Chuck Norris? Jesus: Just like another 2026L, man. It's been too many too frequently, IMO. So yeah, I... Nolan: Yes, I agree. Jesus: Chuck Norris was Chuck Norris, man. was a one, you know, could, before the age of like typecasting really became like a thing, right? Like everybody knows what you're getting with like a Chuck Norris project, right? We're not out here trying to get Oscars, right? But you loved it. You knew it was gonna be good time. So that's what he brought to the table, man. yeah, obviously we're sad he's no longer here, but obviously appreciative of the work that he left behind. ⁓ you know, go roundhouse somebody in the face in his honor today. ⁓ Nolan: And you loved it. You loved it. Mm hmm. Go do some push ups where you're not pushing yourself up, you're pushing the earth down. Because that's what Chuck Norris does. That's damn right. Damn right. Our thoughts, condolences, prayers to the loved ones of Chuck Norris. ⁓ The first news nugget we got into today. Jesus: That's what we can do. That's right. That's what Chuck Norris would do. That's right. Nolan: Lilo and Stitch and Incredibles 3 have set their 2028 release dates. Now, obviously Lilo and Stitch 2 is going to be a live action sequel, not part of the animated films. And Incredibles obviously most recently had their Incredibles 2 release and was as big success as was the first film. So they decided let's, you know, let's get some more money going and let's go for Incredibles 3. I'm here for it. I think that's, you know, one of my favorite IPs growing up watching the Pixar films. Jesus: Damn right it was. Nolan: one of the games I used to buy and play religiously when I was little on GameCube. ⁓ Jillian, any thoughts on their announcement of the dates set for these two sequels? Jesus: I mean, I'm just glad we're not waiting like 30, 40 years between the next Incredibles like we had to, right? Like we can just... Just kind of keep this ball rolling. So that's number one. Number two, I'm wondering if they're going to... Is it like ⁓ we're gonna be adapting the sequel from the... Like the animated sequel that also happened with Lilo and Stitch and doing... Or are we just gonna riff off and do whatever we want to? Nolan: Mm-hmm. That's a great question, I'm not 100 % sure. Yeah, I mean, I'm sure they might take some elements. I mean, they already did some liberties with the live action first installment, right? ⁓ I'm sure that they will probably be taking some liberties as well. know, truth be told, Lilo and Stitch 2, the animated one, was not necessarily great. ⁓ Let's face it, a lot of the old Disney animated movies, their sequels were never there. Jesus: Mm-hmm, they did. It wasn't the first one, It wasn't the first one. Nolan: you know like like think about it maybe you give Lion King 2 some credit there was been no sequel where I'm like yep that's going in like the the rewatchability films right so Jesus: They were never, they were never it. always the first ones with the animated pictures because there was just so much magic in like you just you were just so into it because it was the new Disney animated thing like that's what you were there for so yeah the sequels never really hit ever for that Nolan: Always, always. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I agree. ⁓ Nonetheless, we are getting them within two years time. Definitely excited. Definitely looking forward to having them come out to theaters and we'll be ready and rearing whenever they do release. Next news nugget we got. Just because I can, sorry. ⁓ We talked about it before. ⁓ Max Landis was one of two directors that were announced as being asked to pen a script, and it looks like they're not gonna be moving forward with Max Landis. Now there was some other things that people believe may have been a part of ⁓ the reasoning. There has been some accusations of sexual misconduct, but we're not here to talk about that or look into that. ⁓ Jesus: this man. Hmm, three has been cancelled, that's what saying. Nolan: I I deserve it, you know. Jesus: Make it just say it. He's been, he's been. Yes, TLDR, GI Joe had a rider. GI Joe rider got canceled. That's what happened. Here we are. Nolan: Yeah. Now if you guys do remember when we talked about it Danny McBride was also penning a script. From what I read in this article they said that they're also asked other writers as well to to pen an idea script or you know storyboard whatever you want to call it for ⁓ this next installment of GI Joe whether it is a brand new reboot or if it's some sort of continuation for those of you who watched ⁓ Transformers rise of the beast there was that kind of hint in the post credits of a crossover between GI Joe and Transformers No clue if this has anything to do with that, you know, could just be a brand new fresh take right, right ⁓ I think you should want sell tickets you do that and then you move on to your own IPs because you're gonna get the people back involved and what they like to see Jesus: I think it should. think it should, if you want to sell tickets. Nolan: But Jalen, let me know what you're thinking. ⁓ Obviously the dismissal of Max Landis, but more so on that it seems like they're kind of slowly narrowing in on what they want for this next GI Joe film. Jesus: Yeah, I think it is what it is. know, it's the age we live in. You will be canceled and no one will ask questions. ⁓ But that being said, I think they should probably play into the crossover more. ⁓ If not with G.I. Joe and Transformers, like they could definitely figure it out with other Hasbro properties and whatnot and figure it out from there or whatever. Whoever owns like the movie. I think the movie rights are up in a weird spot right now, right? Because it doesn't like Paramount own like a couple of them, but then Hasbro sold off like Power Rangers or somebody to something else or whatever. They're like, it's not all one planet anymore like it used to be. But those two are still connected, so they could do a crossover if they wanted to, which they Nolan: Agreed, agreed. I think so, yeah. Jesus: I should, because it kind of makes sense. Like a set of people that could probably deal with some Transformers, probably G.I. Joe. That seems kind of sick. You would use those toys together anyway, right? Like, make it make sense. ⁓ So I think exploring that would be a really cool idea. And just getting more people in the seats back invested in the Transformers. I think Rise of the Beast was like an okay attempt. I think I personally had more fun with Bumblebee, but I think a lot of that was just Hailey Steinfeld carrying the movie, right? Like was just, she's amazing. Nolan: You might as well. I agree. Yeah. Jesus: ⁓ more than anything else, but I just don't think they're ever touching on the Transformers side of the things. I really just don't think they're ever touching like peak Michael Bay for that first trilogy, man. Like that was like that was some good stuff. Nolan: I they still have technically a Michael Bay Transformers I think they they said that they're working on getting greenlit officially right ⁓ you know that's the rumors I I don't think I mean just given what has transpired yeah yeah I was like the Jesus: And they're trying to get like Shia and her back or something. They're trying to get the gang back together. Like the BBL's not gonna help you in that movie. You know what mean? Nolan: what has transpired recently with, you know, one of those two actors. I'm not sure if it's the right business decision to include a certain person. Jesus: I think it's a good life decision. Cause like if you listen to Shia LaBeouf talk about like that period in his life of like when he was making those movies, I don't know like from a life standpoint that he would go back and make more Transformers, you know. Megan Fox might. I don't think Shia LaBeouf would. Nolan: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, she's got how many she doesn't regret me that many gigs going on right now. It might as well. Yeah. ⁓ But we'll find out, you know, ⁓ we're looking forward to see what this next GI Joe installment is because it is one of those IPs that does deserve to be on the big screen again. Sir David Zaslav, the CEO who, for all intents and purposes, revitalized the Warner Brothers studio business. I believe his the the valuation for the company had risen almost 200 % since his step in as CEO because the merger with them and Discovery. Jesus: Mm-hmm. Nolan: And now given that we have this 110 billion dollar deal where Paramount, assumingly, will close that deal with Warner Brothers. If that happens, David Zaslav is set to receive 887 million in stocks, bonds, whatever you want to call it, shares, as well as upfront money ⁓ with his departure from the business, obviously, once the merger happens. ⁓ Jalen, there's a couple things. ⁓ one, this is the, this is generational wealth for potentially a small town, not just one person for a small town. We, we are both aware that we will most likely never sniff maybe 1 % of this amount of money in our lifetime. Yeah. Yeah. ⁓ meanwhile, Jesus: 887 million. Yeah, no, not me. Nolan: with this murder occurring, there will be thousands of people who are expected to lose their jobs in layoffs after the murder closes. Not saying, cause you know, opportunity is opportunity, if the deal that was signed and sealed in wet ink allows David Zaslav to get this as somewhat of a severance package, who are we to tell him otherwise of what he should do with that severance package? But it does tickle. Jesus: ⁓ I'll judge him. Nolan: fair enough but it does tickle the brain it does tickle the brain that why why some sort of condition like this was included in a deal when they knew that they were going to have to recoup about six to seven billion dollars worth of money by layoffs ⁓ where does this make sense is my biggest question Jesus: I don't care. Yeah, it doesn't, okay? Because here's what the long con always was, was he was just gonna come in, make it clean enough to sell off, and then get himself a paycheck. He knew that DCU wasn't gonna fly high. Like, come on, man. This was like day one, he knew that this was dumb, I'm just gonna get it in the most clean and purchasable state that I possibly can, and then present it as, well, we're going on this new horizon with James Gunn and all these things, and then boom, here we are. yeah. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: That's literally it. It's nothing complicated. The Batman saved him. If anything, he should give at least more than half of that money to Matt Reeves and Joaquin Phoenix. Because those are the only two things that made it sellable and purchasable. Because those are the two franchises that made the most money out of the deal. Okay? Nolan: and call it feral. Jesus: And Colin Farrell, right. So let's get real real about it. Because the gun gun verse is kind of slowly but surely degrading with popularity. People are starting to see the holes and opening their eyes a little bit, which is nice. Again, Supergirl is TBD. We'll see it. See how it goes. I guarantee you I'm going to walk out of that movie thinking, Millie Alcock, fantastic. What the hell else was the rest of this movie? Probably. If I'm gonna guess what my review's gonna be, it's gonna be like, man, she looked great as Kara. She was fun to watch as Kara, but that was not enough to save this film at all. So, ⁓ we'll see though. Nolan: Now we also have to look at it in the standpoint because it is obviously DCU is a big prevalent part of the Warner Brothers studio right now, but there is a lot more going on with it, right? They obviously have the HBO side of everything. Warner Brothers obviously has their own studio instead. Yep, Harry Potter. Now. Jesus: Harry Potter and... Nolan: That is going to be a part of the thousands of job layoffs where it's going to be kind of spread across all these different things because you're merging two companies obviously you're not going to need two people who do the same thing under the same roof that doesn't make any much sense business wise I understand it you understand it do we like it no but that's just the way the world works is there any world where David's ass laugh Jesus: Hmm Nolan: decides to, out of the kindness of his heart, put some money back in before he leaves. Jesus: No. Like half of that money can probably go to like all the employees that are gonna lose their job and like funnel them into having positions at Paramount whenever this merger happens. That's the part I don't always understand with these is like I get like some spaces like HR or payroll. You really don't need too many cooks in the kitchen because it is paying people do the same thing a lot. ⁓ But we're talking about movies and production stuff. There are. set designers, there are costume designers, there are sound people, there are tech people, there are on set, ⁓ not managers or whatever, but you know what saying, like the people who run around organized set production designers, coordinators, there are so many of these other little positions that are going to get fired and removed for a sake of efficiency, let's say, air quote, that could have stayed on for all these different projects and they didn't need to get removed. ⁓ None of it's gonna be on backend stuff, like all the like CCOs and CFOs are gonna be fine. Of course, they'll have their pension, their salary all saved, ⁓ and all that good stuff. But it's gonna be all the people underneath them that are like way down the totem pole. The accountants and like all the other stuff I mentioned, payroll, HR, tech, advertising, marketing, all that good stuff. So... Nolan: Mmm. Jesus: Yeah, it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Obviously he's probably a Trump-humper if I had to guess because there's no way you get that kind of deal, obviously with Paramount being owned by who it's owned by, ⁓ where that was worked out and gets a little self-kick to get himself in that tax bracket where he probably isn't gonna pay any type of tax on that, guaranteed. Or some, he'll pay some initially probably, like realistically he's never paying taxes, you know what saying? So yeah, it's kind of annoying. ⁓ not the biggest fan of him just kind of tanking a lot of the stuff that I personally enjoyed as a fan just to give himself a big old payout. ⁓ But it is what it is. like I said, if this does finally go through and get approved by all the necessarily organizations that have to go through and look at all the fine details of the paperwork and whatever, we could be like two weeks from now saying, ⁓ actually, this part was illegal and now Paramount can't buy it, so it's going back to Netflix, just like we were when this came around. So I wouldn't be surprised with that. But yeah, if it actually does go through and he does get all that money, mean, cool on you, bro. Obviously, enjoy it. It's generational. Nolan: ⁓ no. Jesus: kids, kids, kids are gonna be fine. ⁓ But the rest of the people that lost their job over you being kind of a piece of shit are not gonna be fine. So, there you go. Nolan: There you have it, ladies and gentlemen. ⁓ We will find out how much he really does end up getting. This is probably going to be all set and true and right as rain as it comes through. But hoping for a glimmer of hope for some of those that may be losing their jobs in the next year or so. Moving on to our next news nugget. Steven Spielberg, one of the, if not the greatest filmmaker of our generation, of past generations of... Jesus: Ta-bye. Nolan: Errors and errors. He has his next film ready and it's going to be a western. Now this is the man who's done sci-fi, he's done action adventure, he has done a musical that has gotten Oscar acclaim. This man can do no wrong when he is behind the camera. Now he's looking at making a Western where he said that there's not going to be many of the typical Western tropes or stereotypes included in how this film is going to be made. It's going to be a right, ⁓ right, the ship kind of thing for a Western. What do you think about him deciding to venture into this genre, a genre that, you know, is dead, ⁓ but he's willing to take a crack at it. you know, I mean, of any filmmaker. Jesus: Very dead. Super dead. Nolan: does he not have the to make something gold? Jesus: Yeah, I mean, for sure, bro. Like, he could do a Western. Don't get me wrong, it's Steven Spielberg. Do whatever the hell he wants. ⁓ But yeah, if anyone else was trying to do it, I'd probably be disinterested, genuinely. I would, like, we just wouldn't care. Steven Spielberg saying he's gonna try to bring Westerns back? Okay. Now we're talking. Now we're talking, okay? Now we're talking. Yeah. Nolan: You got my interest. Now... ⁓ Do you think that this is gonna be one that's closer to a straight-up adventure movie or is it gonna be grounded and gritty and darker maybe? you know he was someone who made something that was fun and energetic like ⁓ Ready Player One. Yeah, and ET. Yeah, but he's also someone who was a part of... Jesus: and ET and several others, right? ⁓ I think he's got more of the like... Nolan: Grrr! Jesus: grounded Western in him, probably. Because I think he's obviously a great adventure director. Like, it's never not going to feel like a Spielberg film in any part of the movie. But I do think there is ⁓ some projects he's done where it is a bit more isolated and calmed down and not so, like, adventure-focused and whatnot in his, you know, catalog of films. And ⁓ I think he'll probably tap into that more than the adventure part. Now, will I be mad if it's kind of like a better Wild Wild West? No. But like, you know, it doesn't have to be. I think he's just a great filmmaker and he's gonna try to make a great piece of art and that's what I will be signing up for if that's the case. Nolan: Look, Wild Wild West was no sense a good movie, but as a kid, that thing was a banger. It was a banger. Jesus: It was fun as hell and I watched it a lot and I freaking learned that choreo at the end you best you best believe Nolan: ⁓ But yeah, I will be waiting on Baited Breath for what Steven Spielberg Western looks like. ⁓ But until then, we do have to look forward to his next ⁓ UFO film. I forgot what they call it. They don't call it UFO anymore. It's like UAP ⁓ for what they're typically... everything you know but that one looks like it's gonna be a banger I'm excited to see where that one kind of pulls through and then we'll move forward from there but ⁓ yeah let us know down in the comments below what you think about Steven Spielberg the great Steven Spielberg going towards a western for his next film next yeah Jesus: randomly before we get into the next one. You know, you know could use probably just another crack at Wild Wild West. You know what mean? Nolan: You think he's gonna... Jesus: Wouldn't it be great? Just for us, you know. Wouldn't it be great? Tone down the campy, find the middle ground of kind of bringing in some of those Django vibes to it. You know what mean? Nolan: Yeah, but... but... You think he's gonna do a remake of that? Now do you mean for him to make that or like get behind like with some filmmakers to make that or you want him to be a part of like Steven Spielberg remake that? Jesus: No, I want Will Smith to do a real kind of sequel to Wild Wild West where his character is a little bit older, a lot older probably. Nolan: get Kevin Klein involved again, that would be interesting. So my hike is looking the exact same. Jesus: you know, get the gang back into it a little bit and like just make a sequel. Selma Hayek looks the exact same. She can play the exact same role, it won't matter. ⁓ But like get the gang back together, make a real sequel, kinda like remix the original like Wild Wild West thing in the, you know what saying? You see what I'm thinking here. Like you're doing the trailer where it's epic, but you're like, ⁓ my God, it's Wild Wild West, the movie kinda sucked, but now they're doing it again, maybe we'll go check it out. You know what saying? So yeah, get. Nolan: Mm-hmm. It's gonna be straight to Streamer, but I'll check it out. Jesus: straight streaming, like it'd be a good time. Like I think it'd be good for just the nostalgia bait, maybe get people back on the side. You see where I'm going with this? See where going with this? Nolan: I'm here for it. I'm here for it. Yeah, it's kind of like his it would be his redemption for one wild west and for turning down Django unchained put them together What do you get Will Smith on his reunion tour redemption to her? resurrection to her Hit us up Hollywood. Hit us up will next news. No kid Ryan Gosling Now he has had he's verbally confirmed that there have been discussions Jesus: Bang. Bang. Bang. Got you, bro. Nolan: with the MCU about him playing Ghost Rider. Obviously, kind of hate him or hate that they've had talks and it's gone nowhere. Jesus: Mm. Kinda hate it. kinda hate that it's Ryan Gosling we're thinking about and we're not just adapting the one from Agents of SHIELD into a movie or bringing him into the MCU. Nolan: Okay, okay. Elaborate. Jesus: I don't need another remix of the original Ghost Rider from John what what ⁓ you know, not Johnny Cage, but whenever ⁓ my god I'm totally blanking on No, ⁓ Nick What the fuck is the actor's name right now? ⁓ my god Nick Cage. Sorry. Yeah, Nicky Cage. I'm gonna say Johnny Cage. That wasn't right. That was Mortal Kombat Nolan: Mm-hmm. Robbie Reyes. I'm Nick Cage, sorry. I guess you're going to do it. Jesus: But anyway, I don't need another retread of the original Ghost Rider thing to be inserted into the MCU. Like there is a cool version of Robbie Reyes that exists that has some lore to it already that exists in the current MCU timeline that we can just bring into the modern MCU. Like where is my- Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: sons that was supposed to be getting kicked off with the Black Knight tease at the end of Immortals, right? With Blade. Like, all that groundwork is still in there. I just don't need Ryan Gosling to come in and play Ghost Rider. I don't need it. Is he gonna be fantastic at it when he does it? Probably. But I just, I don't care. I don't want it. I don't need to see it. I don't want it. Don't care. I would much rather... Nolan: Fair enough. Jesus: see the Robbie Reyes that I saw in Agents of Shield, he was literally the only reason I kept going into that next season was to watch him perform and his performance as that version of Ghost Rider was so good. Like I was locked into those episodes and then as soon as that storyline was over, gone, out, done. Didn't finish Agents of Shield after that because it just kinda didn't, it didn't really go anywhere. Nolan: don't think a lot of people did, so you're not alone. Jesus: ⁓ But to that point in the show, it was still interesting enough with the other characters where it got you into that season and then they were just like, ⁓ by the way, we're gonna try to do Ghost Rider. And I was like, dude, this is sick. ⁓ And they did a really good job of transferring the Nick Cage stuff without directly talking about it into the Robbie Reyes timeline in the MCU. So, just doesn't make sense to me. Yeah, I kinda hate it. Kinda hate it. Nolan: noted noted now since it seems like that's probably where Marvel's headed ⁓ he did add that it's a complicated situation now just from the outside looking in what do think that this complicated situation is Jesus: He doesn't want to be tied to a franchise. That's all it is. It's like every actor that gets into these discussions with Marvel before they actually sign something, they tell them that like, hey, you're on for at least one two picture deal, plus however many X appearances in any crossovers that we do. So you're basically on call for the next like 10 years to be in Doomsday in a, you know, a civil war, let's say. ⁓ Or like your character is signed on for X amount of appearances like Tom Holland's contract, right? So he had his trilogy, but then he also Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: had to appear in Infinity War Endgame Civil War like all that kind of stuff so once that contract was done he took his little break made some cool indie films did Uncharted and now he signed a new deal and he's doing I think he signed back with Sony for at least was it three more or two more however many they were gonna try to do before they passed the torch to Miles which is let we'll get to that later but anyway ⁓ as far as that goes. that's pro, that is, I guarantee you what the hiccup is, is him looking at this contract being like, ⁓ my god, I have to be Ghost Rider for like 30 years if I want to sign this contract. ⁓ Like every other actor that does that, but yeah. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Yeah, and that's fair. That's fair, yeah. I mean... Jesus: It's also scheduling too, who he might have other projects lined up that are gonna conflict if they wanna get to shooting. I mean, Ryan Gosling has never really not been in his bag. He's one of those actors that never really had like, unlike, I will say this, that boy was a liability on defense, okay? He had to be sat. And now they've announced that once again, out of retirement, Jim Carrey is returning because this seems to be the one franchise that Jim, the great Jim Carrey, wants to return to time and time again. Do I know why? No, but he seems to be having a damn good fun time with it and I am totally fine with him returning. Jalen, this seems to be one of the few video game to movie adaptations that has had tons and tons of success. Do you see this franchise ending after 4, or is it maybe going to get rounded out with 5? Jesus: you It's gonna be like the fast and furious stuff at this point. I think we're gonna hit Sonic 10 11 You know, I mean, I think I did genuinely because they make money like they don't they don't not make money The the show the knuckle show was pretty good. I think And so that got a lot people like still engaged with the property in between these movies So they're doing a really good job of like rolling out how they how they're doing Sonic and again ever since they just bent the knee and gave the fans what they needed and Nolan: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: trying to be so Hollywood about making this hedgehog look kind of realistic, which doesn't make any fucking sense. ⁓ He's a blue hedgehog that has super speed. Why are we trying to make him look any type of realistic? Make it look like it is now. Adapt the material. Not hard. And all those other things. And keep the same beats of all the characters that we know from the video games. ⁓ Why Jim Carrey keeps coming back? Nolan: He's a blue hedgehog. Jesus: probably just backing up that money dump truck to his door every time. I would guarantee you more than half of this, like a good quarter of this movie's budget is probably paying Jim Carrey to come back every time. ⁓ And all that good stuff. But they're fun movies, man. I have not, like I loved Sonic 3, I love Sonic 2, I love the first one, I love the show. Like I think they've done a really good job adapting the property, like I said. Like you adapt the sequels and you're good to go. But. You don't do that, you end up with stuff like, I don't know, the original Mortal Kombat stuff, which is not overly great. You know? Or like, the last Tomb Raider. They are riding the ship now, but like the original, like the last Tomb Raider with the leash of a candor was like... Nolan: You know, I think they're right in ship nowadays, though, you know what mean? Jesus: Okay-ish, but if they would have really like stuck to like the version of Tomb Raider they were going for when like it was like the 360 era version of Tomb Raider that they kind of Scaled back the the craziness and made it more of like a cool adventure jungle game ⁓ They probably would have done better. But yeah, I don't know it just it's it's one of those things when Hollywood tries to be Hollywood on things instead of just Adapting and making us entertained. Nolan: inventive ways to see animation, especially with a villain such as Spot that warps the environment around him. ⁓ But this film, you know, ⁓ yeah, there we go. I did actually have it. Cool. Just wanted to double check. This film is slated for a release next year, June 18th, 2027. Now what this tells me and what they're saying to us in this interview, is that they have not started such animation for the villain's Sure, they've maybe done a little bit of voice work, right? It seems like they're- Jesus: I yes and no. I think like I have face value. Yes. Because the sentence reads like we haven't done anything yet. But there's also like a lens you can look at it as like when you see what's going to happen, we're taking X character and. Nolan: I think if face felt like they have not, they're, Yes. Yeah, like they're developing which means that they've they're testing things out which means that they're they're doing something They're not they're not just blank slate right now. Yes. Yes. Yes Jesus: Right. They're at least in pre-vis if they're developing stuff. So they have like bones on the board. The rest of it's gonna be clean up and making sure the audio and the visuals are synced as animation goes. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Yeah, they've also announced everything is on schedule for the June 18th, 2027 release, though it has had a ton of delays. The last movie premiering in 2023 across the Spider-Verse. Jalen, one, are you excited for some new visuals of how they're going to put spot on screen? And two, is this going to keep to the schedule that they currently have or are they going to delay any further? Jesus: ⁓ I think they they're in ⁓ a weird situation Where no matter what state the film is in? Good bad or ugly to end this trilogy They're gonna have to release that movie to get any kind of like recuperation back for the money they put into it already ⁓ I think the fr- I mean, the initial delay was because the star of the film was being a little extra weird with Hailey Seinfeld for a while being a pick-me-bro. So they wanted that media circus to die down. And then there was like a- I can't remember the second issue of why they delayed it again, um, that my- Nolan: What? Jesus: animation or something with, you know, paying people, whatever. But they're at a point now where we are going to be four years removed from the sequel film, which, mind you, it went back to back with the other film. So there was momentum there, right? And that's big when we're talking about trying to get box office dollars back in your pocket. Nolan: Yeah. Jesus: So either this has to be like the trilogy, you know, like you gotta stick the landing to stick all landings, right? Or like, it's just gonna be shoved out the door. And that's my fear, is that's just gonna get shoved out the door without the real, I think, attention and quality that this franchise deserves. Because this has been one the most incredible Spider-Man property franchises that we've ever had. Period. End of story. Live action or otherwise. ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: Both movies are spectacularly good in different ways. And anyone that's trying to say that the second film isn't as good as the first film now is doing that dumb, like, illiterate internet revisions history stuff and they're just not real people, they're bots. I swear to God. Because both films stand on their own in individual ways that are very, very good from each other. Obviously the first one's a little bit better, but they're both excellent quality in films ⁓ that change and follow the characters and do a lot of really cool stuff. ⁓ that being said, Nolan: Yes, very true. Jesus: I think that's where this current film is, is in a really really tough spot. Almost a rock and a hard place probably. That's probably the best way to put it. So we'll see what happens. I'm hopeful for the better end of this conversation where it was like, man that was worth the wait, right? Like damn, that was so good. But I'm also really timid because we've seen how this game plays out before typically, a lot of the time. Yeah. Nolan: Mm-hmm. ⁓ god. Yeah, I'm a little worried about it, but you know, it's... animation takes a while. I'm not gonna say that they should have just done this straight from the get-go, ready to go. I think it made sense that it... Jesus: Especially this style of like kind of what they've redone the standard of animation is now, I feel like, with these two films. They've put a new standard on what you can do with animation and it's not easy what they do. yeah, it definitely, it's gonna take a little minute. It's take a little minute. Just little minute. Maul Shadowlord. Jalen Banger. Now obviously you're into the Star Wars lore of everything that has to do with Galaxy Gaol is far far away. ⁓ Jesus: Banger. email. Nolan: Where is this storyline taking place? What is this showing us? part of Maul's journey. Jesus: Honestly with like the characters that are in there, it's a little bit ahead of Ahsoka is what it seems like. So probably closer to, I wanna say like the end of Rebels. In all that kind of way where we have Ahsoka the Grey and all those things. Before she's gonna end up getting into it with Vader and what not. ⁓ But. Nolan: Okay. Jesus: It definitely is a weird space because the galaxy is currently ruled by the Empire quite clearly post-Orta 66, know Anakin all that jazz But we do have the Inquisitors also and there are some interesting ones that came in there from the rebel show That are plopped in like the guy with like the kind of samurai hat looking one is a really cool bounty hunter ⁓ That causes a lot of problems for people back in that show So I assume he's also gonna cause problems for Maul now what I'm interested in is the the Twi'Lak character Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: that keeps being shown in the trailers. I don't know what the angle is gonna be with her. There are some rumors that they are trying to make her like the Lady Sith person, but I don't think that Disney is about the route of making basically kind of like a seductress type of character in a mall show with Sam Witwer attached to it. So that one to me is probably not gonna happen with that. Nolan: Yeah. Jesus: But I do think there is probably going to be some kind of apprenticeship for Maul that doesn't necessarily lead to her becoming a Sith because Maul is a character. He loves the idea of balance and order to things. Obviously, he leans more to the dark side of the forest, blah, blah. ⁓ But there is that point, and we see it at the end of the Clone Wars and that finale, like season seven and all that good stuff, where he realizes that even Palpatine is going way too far. Like we can't be getting rid of Jedi like we need Jedi in the world in the galaxy ⁓ And I think exploring that I'm exploring a mall that has been through all of that as a character and now seeing what he is going to do in the Background and all that kind of stuff is gonna be really really interesting As far as like closer timeline stuff It's probably during the same space where Han is meeting Chewbacca in the solo movie because at the very end we get that post-credit scene So this is more of like probably during that Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mmm. Yeah. Jesus: where he is the Shadow Lord stuff. Like he's doing a lot of background work with gangsters and whatever and kind of getting some organized chaos going on in the galaxy. So that's kind of where you can try to pigeon and fit it in. I'm sure there's a specific, you know, very specific ⁓ time that they will announce soon or have already announced but... ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: You will see some characters that you have seen in animation already. Like you see the Inquisitor that Ahsoka fights from Tales of a Jedi is in there. You see the Inquisitor that Ahsoka fights when she's older from the Ahsoka show is in there in animation form, obviously. ⁓ So this is obviously well before any of those events, or at least during some timeline of those events. ⁓ But... you can kind of pick and pick prod on like when and where it's gonna be. So we know it's somewhere in that realm. Specifically, we'll probably have to see the show or like wait for a synopsis to really, you know, go and look into it. Nolan: Right on. This was, yeah, this was a banger of a trailer. I'm very excited. The show will be premiering on April 6th. I believe it is two episodes per week on Disney Plus. And we'll have, you know, we'll have this within less than two weeks, two weeks right now. Yeah, two weeks time. ⁓ We're gonna be inundated with content and I am here for it. Jesus: We're about to be cooking. We're getting into it. It's gonna be great. Nolan: Speaking of getting into it, this next trailer that we're reviewing... Jesus: Damn. Hemothy. He's there. He's doing it. Nolan: Damn. He's there. Fresh off a loss at the Oscars. Boy has clearly not taken it well if you've seen this trailer. ⁓ Now, yeah, couple things I want to unpack. One, the posters were released the day before. Character posters. And they did title it as the epic conclusion. Jesus: Woo. Really letting it all out there. Nolan: From my understanding, or from my interpretation, would say this means that probably Denis Villeneuve ⁓ is probably ending his run with this IP after this film. My also understanding is that there is a plethora of books from this timeline moving forward. Jesus: Mm-hmm. Nolan: Probably not as well received from what I hear ⁓ as the first two slash three. Three is also not one that's favorited by others, but there could be lot of liberties that he's taking with this third film to make it a beautiful conclusion for the character Paul Trades. ⁓ Jesus: Yes. Right. a lot of liberties with the first film too that not lot of people know and really think about unless you read you know read most through most of the books but he he fundamentally changed characters because of what the original author wanted ⁓ yeah I mean it all worked out obviously obviously obviously Nolan: Yep. Yeah, for better of the movie. Yeah. Yes. things that we're gonna unpack, you know, okay. We get, ⁓ Ani-Taylor Joy as his younger sister who is devoted to serving her older brother, ⁓ who's also, she's also kind of crazy, which is going to be an interesting dynamic to see. ⁓ Shani, Zendaya herself. Not really seeing eye to eye with Paul. ⁓ looks like she's kind of on the other end of this war that he mentions in the trailer. Jesus: Mm-hmm. Most heavily not fucking with Paul in this movie can confirm. Nolan: Yeah, yep, yep, yep. She probably buzzed his head herself. ⁓ We also get Florid's pew, obviously as the, I guess you could say like the princess still, technically. You get, yeah, cause they were supposed to do marriage and all that. I don't know if it continued forth. ⁓ Rebecca Ferguson as Paul's mother. Jesus: Yep, probably. technically because he made did the thing so yeah Nolan: still kind of weird and witchy and but she is kind of speaking to him based off of like how he's handling being a a crazy ruler now you know fighting through war. ⁓ We see a glimpse of Robert Pattinson as a Harkonnen looking pretty cool pretty cool right. ⁓ Jesus: Yes, very much so. Mm-hmm. Very cool. Nolan: And then of course we see the return of Jason Momoa as, from what I understand, a clone of Duncan Idaho, not an actual Duncan Idaho returning from the dead. Jesus: this. That is a lore meme, like Duncan never really dies in the books. But, yeah. Nolan: Yeah. Jalen, from this trailer, the biggest thing that stood out to me was the Fremen chant that just plot lined the whole background of this trailer. And boy, if I didn't want to run through a wall right after hearing it, did it sound like he was saying LSD? Yes, it did. But I was here for it. I was here for it. ⁓ Jesus: It was so cool, man. Deadass, I was ready to go, bro. It did. Nolan: And from my understanding that was Timothy Shalime actually doing the audio work to make that chant with the song and music and everything for the... it's probably in the film obviously but that was him himself doing it in the Freeman language. Are we looking at... Okay first one tell me your thoughts on the trailer. Two. Are we looking at the potential of this movie Jesus: you Nolan: pushing Dune into the top three science fiction trilogies of all time. Jesus: Yes and yes. ⁓ I quite enjoyed the trailer. was obviously a big, mean, when Dune was getting made by Dennisville, I was a little, you know, hesitant. ⁓ Because the adaptations had not always gone well in Hollywood. but that first movie was so spectacular and he changed characters from the book in a good way that makes sense for what Frank Herbert's original vision of the characters was supposed to be. like in a ⁓ retrospective way, Denise Villeneuve really like captured more of what Frank Herbert wanted from the books originally. ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: and those kinds of things. obviously enjoyed the first two movies. I was super excited to see this trailer. This one I wasn't really expecting to come out at all. I didn't really like see, I guess I was off the internet for a certain amount of time because I'm coaching now and all that good stuff. when it dropped and I saw that part of like this image just on the internet ready to go, was like, please, this is fucking AI again. I'm going to just set everyone on fire. Thankfully it was not. And we are getting into like what Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: considered to be probably the more exciting part of the book series which is when he is full-time like King Lord Lisa Nalgaid Moideb stuff and this holy war like like Paul is not a glamorous protagonist person. He is very much an anti-hero and he does not care at this point. He has gone like full dark side basically at this point. So it is like we are here to end things and you'll be ruled by me. Like we are we've gone down that path and we saw at the end of the second movie and that kind of stuff. So ⁓ I think that's what I'm most excited for. I think that it will be interesting to me how much of Messiah he's adapting and how much of the fourth book he's gonna Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: put in there because the first movie was really I think more of the first book split into two parts really then it was like the first book is entirely the first movie and then the second book is entirely the second movie ⁓ he really did a good job of kind of blending both of those books and like timeline-wise putting them together so I'm wondering how much of the other material he's putting into this film as that goes. ⁓ But no, I'm excited. Mordune, yes please. ⁓ I do think if this sticks the landing, it can definitely be in the conversation of one of the best science fiction trilogies of all time. There's no doubt about it, because the first two movies were Oscar caliber films. They were fantastic films. ⁓ So this third one does the same thing. If I walk out of the theater the same way I walked out of the first two movies, then yeah, we're gonna be in for an absolutely good time. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: makes me want to reinstall Dune Awakening. Now the game apparently has had some cool updates and maybe just start a character over and go from there and get back into the world and living in that space. that's also just part of the universe itself is very cool in Dune. Nolan: ⁓ or mutating if you will yeah yeah i mean it looks like the his health is taking something's going on with him and then he kind of gets into that Jesus: Well, I'd say mutating. Boomerang as you can see right here. Tombstone from my understanding is the one narrating the evolution of the spider part in the trailer itself. Jesus: Okay, follow me here. Nolan: listening. Jesus: So, in Shadowlands, Daredevil comic, Mad Murdock, ⁓ he succumbs to this kind of mythical weird entity that's called the Beast. Now... Are they gonna do it like they did in the, or could they do it like they did in the comics? Probably not to fit how this is gonna go, air quote, if they're introducing Sadie Sink's character as Rachel Summers or Jean Grey. Probably Rachel Summers would make no sense why she would be, anyway, would make sense why she'd be Jean Grey anyway. ⁓ But there could be like a version of the beast where at the end of Born Again, Matt's going a little cocoa, okay? Dealing with the hand in Born Again. And then we get a little cutscene. We don't know who the villain in this movie is supposed to be, okay? But guess what? It's Matt Murdock. Cause he's taking over the hand like he does in the Shadowland comics. And in the comics, who goes and teams up with Spider-Man to help stop Daredevil in the hand? Frank Castle. Nolan: Jalen, if you got this prediction correctly, I will bow down to you. I will offer you my first born. Jesus: There's your movie. I'm saying it's definitely a route they could go. I don't know that they're gonna do that route. It would, I think like the version of air quote, the beast. could just be like Rachel Summers going crazy with her powers and not taking over people's minds and stuff, and that's a version they could do where she's possessed Daredevil, he's now taking over the hand, and now they're coming after Peter and a bunch of stuff, that could be a thing. ⁓ And then the mutation part is definitely interesting, and I think they're gonna do a lot of pulls from when he does become Man-Spider. Now... Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: Do we need this whole arc to give him organic webbing? In my personal opinion, so like my favorite versions of Spider-Man, no. I prefer stock standard traditional Peter with the non-organic web swinging, okay? That is just me. Some people loved that Sam Raimi gave him organic webbing, and I think there's some really... Jesus: I don't know what the correct term might be. ⁓ not ill-informed, but it's not in good, like, dishonest takes about he should have organic webbing or whatever because Sam Raimi made that movie at a time where we couldn't make real comic book movies yet, if that makes any sense. So he did, well, his webs come out like this and all those other things and blah, blah. ⁓ when in reality it should have been like Tom Holland's introduction where his webs do not come from him, they come from the web shooters, because that's part of the genius that is Peter Parker, okay? ⁓ That is Spider-Man, that's who he is. It is also very clear in this trailer, that we're finally getting a Spider-Man who just loses, bro. And like, that's why we loved No Way Home so much, because that dude just like lost. And so, I was scrolling on YouTube today to re-watch the trailer for the 50th time. ⁓ And I saw a cool like take. Nolan: He lost everything. Jesus: where the video was titled, I love the brand new day trailer, but the thumbnail just literally says, make him suffer, and it's this picture, but with those words around it. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: And I think it couldn't be more true. The versions of Spider-Man I think as fans we love the most is when Peter is suffering on a human level but having to deal with being Spider-Man because that is the classic conflict of who his character is at its peak. He's always just trying to like power through being a student or like later on being a father, being married, having, you know, doing this crazy act with all these gifts that he has. I think this is pretty much the peak of where Nolan: balancing, yeah. Jesus: I wanted Tom Holland's Spider-Man to finally get to and I'm very excited to see that version. yeah, very awesome. Very big W. Need to see it now. Give it to me right now. Immediately. But yeah, so that's my hot take for the trailer. That's where my brain went through. And I think we're also getting some digital removal. Because that last shot seemed very no way home. Right? Is that just me? Nolan: Yeah, yeah. This is huge. This is huge. ⁓ Right? No, no, that's exactly what I was gonna bring up to you. Yeah, but do you think that there... Is it... Is it too on the nose though? Because they know what they did last time that they know people are gonna try to look into it and see something more than... Okay. Jesus: I it's brilliant to do it again, personally, because they know people are gonna be like, are they doing it again? Hold on, hold on, are they doing it again? Nolan: Now let's let's let's hypothesize then. Who was digitally removed? Jesus: Could be Greyhulk, it could be potentially the Punisher, maybe like on the Zipline situation, you know what saying? Could be Rachel Summers. Could be... Nolan: Could it be... Could it be Daredevil after Spider-Man's turned him good again and now he's got to right the rays? Now, my other question- Jesus: Could be Daredevil after he's been right? Yes, that could be a thing. Of course I love how Charlie Cox and Matt, or the Dario guy or whatever did interviews all week this week and are talking about like, yeah, I'm not in Spi- I'm not in Spiderman. But if I wasn't in I couldn't tell you anyway, but I'm not in it. Right. Right. Like, we're gonna believe you, Charlie. Like, we're gonna believe you after the stuff you pulled for No Way Home. Are you for real right now? Nolan: Yeah, he's like, he's like, no, no, I'm not in it. But if I was in it, I couldn't tell you that I was in it. But I'm not. But I'm not anyway. Right. Right. I believe you. ⁓ Last question I got about this trailer. What it seems like is throwing consciousness between people within the vicinity. Whose powers could that potentially be? Jesus: I don't believe you. I don't believe you one bit. Does it make sense why you wouldn't be in this movie? Rachel slash Jean Grey whatever they're calling this person that is that is Sadie Singh's character. That is who she is again I'm not a betting man, but if I'm betting money, it's not Jean It's Rachel Summers like all signs are pointing to an Omega level telepath bro, like Like an Omega level telepath can do that. That's very much like what Charles Xavier can do and all that kind of stuff ⁓ also Nolan: Okay. Okay. Glad you brought up betting, because our new sponsor, Polymarket- I'm just kidding, no. Yeah. Jesus: lean into my other theory where they will go more traditional and it is the beast bouncing around in between body. Because the Hand is into some weird mystical stuff, Like they rose Electra from the dead. She was the leader of the Hand for a while, until she like, re-died or like, decommit, did something in the comics. I can't remember if that was Shadowlands or Rain or whatever. There was a storyline where Matt breaks her free of the Beast and the Hand and all that kind of stuff and frees her. And then she just becomes like, Electra or something. But! Nolan: Right? Jesus: There's a lot of things in the, there's so many daredevil beats in this movie and people have wanted that team up for so long. I just don't see a world where we have Born Again Season Two coming out when? Next week? Nolan: Yes. 28th? 24th? No, 24th would be a Monday. No, no, Tuesday. Yeah, Tuesday. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Jesus: And then it's going to 24th. Yeah. It's the 24th. So we have that the 24th, and I assume that's probably gonna be like a two episode drop, but weren't they trying to do eight episodes, or how many episodes? Nolan: I think it's nine. Because originally they were going to do that 18 episode season and then they cut it to it's episodes one or season one and season two. Yeah. Jesus: So they're trying to nine episodes. It's more concise. Okay. So probably a two episode drop on the 24th. And then we've got seven weeks after that. Right? So one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. And then it only leaves a little, basically a two week gap between the end of Born Again, season two, and then the release of Spider-Man Brand New Day. We're somewhere in there or later later on two month gap. Sorry, July, but Like that's a significant Like kind of lead off that you could do, you know, saying it kind of lines up perfect right if we're doing it, you know March and get down through April basically the whole week of the whole month of April We're still gonna have one again. And then it really stops in May you have June off and then BAM There we are like Nolan: That makes sense. It lines up. It lines up. Hell yeah, dawg. Jesus: I think it'd be a layup. You know? But who's to say? I'm just saying. It's a lot of Daredevil stuff to just be thrown in randomly to a Spider-Man movie. That's all I'm saying. The Hand, The Punisher. Nolan: Who's to say? And I am here for this film and the trailer and I'm ready for the next one to come out. All right. But ⁓ that'll do it for us here on this segment of post credits. Jalen, I'll give you your little window now. I know you just started the Invincible series. The first three episodes did drop on Amazon Prime. Let us know what you're getting thoughts so far of what they've released. Where, where are we looking at the season? Greek? Jesus: Sure did. Sure did. They've been great. They've been fantastic. We are gearing up for the, I think, I mean, not the invincible war necessarily, but we're gearing up for like the end of the Beltramites and whatnot. So that's kind of the, we're climbing up the two sides of the mountain here. Nolan: So, do you think that this season's gonna be the one- I mean, unless it already happened in the first three episodes that I missed- Is this gonna be the one where people have shared- where Mark gets taken advantage of by a Viltrimay- Is this- ⁓ Do you think that was just a little too grim to- Jesus: No, they skipped past that whole thing. That would have been last season if that was gonna happen with that interaction with her. I think they thought probably we push a lot on air, but maybe we don't push that far. Me personally, given how much female essay is on... Nolan: Not the smartest... Therefore... Jesus: so many different types of media in various more gory films or more graphic films, I personally thought it would have been refreshing to do that timeline and show in the male perspective of what that essay could have looked like. ⁓ But I understand maybe that's a tad of a bit too far in the animation space maybe to be trying to pull off... Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: for a show like this. So I get why, kinda cowardice IMO, but I understand. You weren't gonna really lose on either end of the spectrum by not showing it, you know what I'm saying? So yeah, I get it. But no, I think that would have happened last season had that happened at all. Nolan: with ya. Mm-hmm. Fair enough. Jesus: We are going towards more of the the stuff that was alluded to at the end of the last season with like all the variants of mark and all that kind of stuff and then the rest of the viltrumites coming to kill and wipe out or repopulate planet Earth like that's Pinnacle Peak, all 50 of them or whatever that are left. Everybody is kind of gearing up towards that. You get a lot more from Omni-Man, at least out the jump with the season, which is really cool. More stuff from that end as well. You get more Seth Rogen, which is funny. ⁓ And really the first episode, like we're exploring a mark that has now really just like been through some shit and he's like not the same mark that was in season one and two. That was so, so hopeful and so like willing to do good because now he's crossed that line and... ⁓ Nolan: He's not okay. Jesus: It's really interesting to watch that version of Mark deal with these problems that like, you know, the season two invincible probably would handle definitely differently. Probably worse, because he's not as efficient, he's not as strong. But it's cool. And we get some more answers on what's going on with, oh my god, Herb Whatsternut's powers, what not. Nolan: I don't mean. Jesus: Yeah, Adam's powers and all that kind of stuff. We don't get a ton of Little Bro in the first three episodes. I think they're probably maybe saving down the line probably some more interactions with Omni-Man and whatnot. ⁓ Nolan: for all that's Jesus: But yeah, get a lot of very cool world building stuff through the lens of Seth Brogan's character and Omni-Man. So it's very fun for a start of the season. I'm looking forward to the rest of it, obviously. Invincible has just been fantastic, man. It's been an amazing show to watch. ⁓ Top to bottom, top to bottom. Obviously, I think... Nolan: Hell yeah. Jesus: Would I like a world where the budget was spent a little bit more to make cooler animation styles happen in the show to really showcase like the super hero stuff? Yes. ⁓ But the story is good enough to where it kind of just carries it anyway. So not too big a deal in my opinion. So. Nolan: Yeah. Right on.
