- 0:02The people have spoken. That's something I don't think I
- 0:05would take a chance of. In my opinion, 218 strikeouts
- 0:08were a guy who was his third year in the league.
- 0:10Now that's a lot of strikeouts. And they're here to deliver.
- 0:15He wants to. Be.
- 0:16On a competitor period. Bringing you the facts.
- 0:21Jose was trash man I fell for that hard.
- 0:25While keeping you up to date, man, like what a like question
- 0:29mark that is after you leave Cole, you get him out of the
- 0:31game and all of a sudden you don't know what you're going to
- 0:34get on the other side on all fantasy baseball news.
- 0:37There's a slouch man. He's.
- 0:39Just a a potential he's a. Slug.
- 0:41Dark Horse winner of a Cy Young candidate.
- 0:44Welcome to Bourbon Involved. Averaged like 160 strikeouts
- 0:48prior to his breakout year. I don't even call that breakout
- 0:51year. I would call that a career year
- 0:52because I don't think you have another year.
- 0:55We're going to talk about a lot more baseball.
- 0:56This is just the beginning guys. That's right.
- 1:02I'll call a belt in it. So look
- 1:17All right, guys, man, what a what a week in baseball, man.
- 1:21Fantasy baseball, regular baseball.
- 1:23I mean, it's all it's it's been wild week, right?
- 1:27So, yeah, this is bourbon and Ball, man.
- 1:28We're on our 49th show ever. I'm Doug, along with my lifelong
- 1:33friend over there, Mikey V, coming to you via Clearwater,
- 1:36FL. I'm coming from Foxborough in
- 1:39The Cave downstairs in the basement.
- 1:42Yeah. So this is bourbon and ball.
- 1:44You know, I'm sure the first question is why bourbon and
- 1:46white ball? We've been in a a fantasy
- 1:48Baseball League, points league, ESPN for man, over 20 years,
- 1:55over 20 years. And yeah, we've been doing it
- 1:58for a while, man. And we like to sip on bourbon.
- 2:02So of course, you know, I got my bourbon here.
- 2:04I got my bourbon ball bourbon glass right here.
- 2:09And over here tonight, Doug, I do have some some whiskey
- 2:12tonight that went out be like this week.
- 2:15It was a long week. We deserve it.
- 2:16So got some honey whiskey. I like some honey whiskey.
- 2:21That stuff is deadly. Sweet.
- 2:24You know, it's just a little, a little something different on
- 2:27the lips. Yeah, I like that.
- 2:29I do like that. So, yeah.
- 2:32So coming for you from MBR, we're streaming on MBR, we're on
- 2:36Patriot radio, we're on Roku, we're simulcast and you can
- 2:41catch the same show Saturdays from 12:00 to 2:00 on New
- 2:45England TV sports. So we're man, we're we're around
- 2:50and again, a lot of this stuff you're going to hear about are
- 2:53are are from our points league, head to head points league that
- 2:56we do on ESPN. It's a weekly league.
- 2:58So you set it and forget it. Week starts Monday, ends on
- 3:02Sunday. And yeah, I mean if you're a
- 3:06higher scorer in a points league, chances are you're
- 3:08pretty much a higher scorer in any type of format whatsoever.
- 3:10So a judge is a judge. And of course with all that MBR
- 3:15military broadcast and radio affiliation there, we do have
- 3:18some of our own. I myself was a paratrooper in
- 3:21the Army for 6 plus years. I got jumped Germany, Ireland,
- 3:25the Netherlands and a year long combat tour in Afghanistan in
- 3:29all of 2012. Yeah, and my, my father was part
- 3:33of the Air Force during the Vietnam War and my grandfather
- 3:37was a paramedic during World War 2.
- 3:39So a lot of family ties as well there, Doug all.
- 3:43Right, man, good stuff, good stuff.
- 3:45So we have a ton to talk about. Like every week.
- 3:48I feel like it's like we got so much this week is like it feels
- 3:52like we're going to go beyond two hours if we'll put a leash
- 3:56on it a little bit, you know what I'm saying?
- 3:58Big names to talk. About Oh my God, it's been such
- 4:02a wild week. So let me yeah, let's just dig
- 4:04in. Let's go around the league and
- 4:06kick from there. All right, so I want to give a
- 4:11little update here. This past weekend, you had what
- 4:14was the World Series rematch last year, maybe a World Series
- 4:17rematch this year. You had the Dodgers and the
- 4:20Yankees. Yeah, it was a, a, a Yankees
- 4:24revamp line up compared to when they last played.
- 4:27Obviously Juan Soto's there. Obviously he's gone.
- 4:30You have Cody Bellinger, you have Paul Goldschmidt, Jason
- 4:33Dominguez has, you know, vibrant role in that line up.
- 4:38But it it was a beat down man. I think Saturday's game in
- 4:41particular, I think he's ended up winning the the series
- 4:45finale, but they lost the series 2 to one.
- 4:48I think Dodgers DHOA Tony ended up taking a little snooze in the
- 4:52dugout with because the final was 18 to 2.
- 4:56So yeah, I mean, I they actually do have, I do have some video of
- 5:00him snoozing and it's pretty funny.
- 5:02Let me play that right now. Take a singles.
- 5:05To the right side of the infield, Kim streaks 1st to 3rd.
- 5:08And what I was going to say is there's got to be some
- 5:12regression when he gets back to being able to focus on pitch.
- 5:16So they there he is right there just snoozing away.
- 5:19A. Couple singles to the right side
- 5:21of the infield. Kim Streaks.
- 5:25Yeah, man, that was that was beat down.
- 5:28And and, you know, I after the game, Ohtani had had 63 runs, 63
- 5:35runs. I mean, he's on pace for 176.
- 5:40You know, I think this series, the Dodgers were snuffling a
- 5:44little bit when they were going into it, you know, and I think
- 5:48them playing the Yankees kind of rejuvenated.
- 5:50But give me some energy, you know, we need to we need to take
- 5:53at least two or three and they take two or three.
- 5:56So it was really good to see that and just to to put out and
- 6:00here's a little pic of I mean, look at the firepower.
- 6:03Look at the firepower. You got a two time ALMVP.
- 6:06You got an NLMVP in Goldie, you got an NLMVP and and and Cody
- 6:12Ballinger you got an ALMVP, you got another NLMVP and then you
- 6:16got a three time MVPI. Mean that is * studded.
- 6:21Nothing tells me that these guys aren't going to play again in
- 6:24the World Series. Nothing now so far.
- 6:28Yeah, it's hard to argue that, right?
- 6:30I mean, they're just both so good when they're on fire, and
- 6:34the Dodgers obviously are starting to display that a
- 6:35little bit more. It's good to see.
- 6:37It's good for baseball. Remember, there's a point in
- 6:39time where people thought maybe the Dodger super team was going
- 6:41to be bad for baseball. It's been great for baseball.
- 6:44It's just when they're on, they're so fun to watch.
- 6:47They're having fun. They're joking around the dugout
- 6:50like we saw with Otani. How can you not love the team?
- 6:52And then the Yankees, they're running away with this division
- 6:55right now. So they're going to be right in
- 6:57the race. They're going to be putting
- 7:00themselves in the best position. And again, you know, they'll be
- 7:03active probably during the deadline because they know
- 7:05they're going to be in it. They're going to be buyers and
- 7:07they can be buyers. So yeah, 100% both these teams,
- 7:11World Series favorites. I don't think one team even from
- 7:15each Division, I can't think of one team stopping them.
- 7:18I don't see one team stepping up right now compared to those two
- 7:21teams. It's weird, though, because you
- 7:23look at the the Dodgers and you're like, OK, these guys
- 7:27should be undefeated almost, right, Because I mean, the
- 7:30firepower, but their staff is taking a hit.
- 7:32I mean, it's it's definitely not where they expected it to be at
- 7:35all with the investments they made in the offseason.
- 7:39And on top of that, some games, some series that, you know,
- 7:43they, they probably should have won and they didn't.
- 7:46So I think it's it's not the team everybody puts on a
- 7:49pedestal to be. That makes any sense.
- 7:51Yeah. Makes sense?
- 7:54Still the best, one of the best teams in baseball, but I think
- 7:59the tell tall sigh will be what that rotation looks like when
- 8:04people start coming back like I know we're going to.
- 8:06I think Snell will will give an update on him.
- 8:09I think he's going to start taking doing some mild work.
- 8:13So, you know, it'll be interesting to see what they do
- 8:16and how they produce when that rotation is full built like it's
- 8:18supposed to be. But I and when it is, obviously
- 8:24they're going to there's there's nothing to tell me that the
- 8:26Yankees they can't beat the Yankees.
- 8:28I mean, the, the only thing that's going to kill the Yankees
- 8:31is their rotation because after, you know, after Ron Doan and Max
- 8:34Freed, it's, I mean, you know, Will Warren, it's tough.
- 8:39It's tough to swallow after their first two anyways.
- 8:42I don't know the the back of their rotation isn't what they
- 8:45expected it to be really. Yeah, I think they're going to
- 8:49have to make some moves. I don't think they have anyone
- 8:51within the organization at this point that's going to be a a
- 8:54high level performer that they going to need down the stretch.
- 8:57So you know, I think Sandy Alcatrado is the name that pops
- 9:00in the mind. It's not the greatest name.
- 9:02It's a huge buy a low right now in that market.
- 9:06Marlins are not going to get what they thought they're going
- 9:07to get for him in the beginning of the season.
- 9:10He did so good in the spring, too, which is too bad.
- 9:13You know, that was his peak value, I guess at this point.
- 9:15So yeah, they they might make him bad.
- 9:18So it's not too crazy. It's not like it's not going out
- 9:23and getting the big dog, you know, and putting all your chips
- 9:26in the basket. I don't think it's that type of
- 9:28scenario for the Yankees. I mean, front two guys right
- 9:30there alone in A5 game series, you might see them once or twice
- 9:33just because they want to perform and and be out there,
- 9:36right. So I do think they need a solid
- 9:39new starting pitcher on their team.
- 9:41It's just a matter of what price they want to pay for it and what
- 9:45quality they're looking for. Yeah, well, that's a great
- 9:48point. It's still going to make good
- 9:51baseball at the end of the day. It it'd probably be one of the
- 9:54the most watched World Series if if they do end up, you know,
- 9:57going back there. So here's here's a wild one that
- 10:02I have never expected that I would be talking about Mariners
- 10:06catcher DH Cal Riley, who is the newborn catcher baseball and
- 10:10fantasy baseball giving you at least 3 1/2 points to start,
- 10:15which is I mean, you're talking about top tier players, you're
- 10:19talking about Soto numbers almost right?
- 10:22He became the first catcher in MLB history to have 20 or more
- 10:26home runs before the end of May. He has seven home runs in his
- 10:30last nine games. His total, he's got 24 on the
- 10:34year. He's got 49 ribbies.
- 10:35He's even got $6 bases, 41 runs. He's 68, right, 213 total point
- 10:433.5 to start, like I said, but I will say this, his strikeouts
- 10:47are there. He's got 72 strikeouts.
- 10:50I mean he's on pace for like 180 to 200 strikeouts.
- 10:55Similarly, this is this kind of reminds me of like a Delhi de la
- 11:00Cruz LA de la Cruz type scenario where K if instead of stolen
- 11:05pieces, if he's not hitting home runs later on this year, you
- 11:10might see that that regression as far as points per per start,
- 11:15right? I mean, honestly, he good for
- 11:19him. I think, you know, you might
- 11:21think the Mariners are geniuses for signing him to that long
- 11:23term extension at the beginning of the year where I would
- 11:26scratch my head like why? But now, I mean, they look like
- 11:29geniuses. We'll see how it continues.
- 11:32I mean, it's a great story for baseball and for him in
- 11:35particular, you know, but a lot of strikeouts man.
- 11:38And if if he stops hitting home runs, that'll come back to bite
- 11:43you in the world of fantasy anyways.
- 11:45So what happens, brother? And you nailed it, too.
- 11:47And Ellie de la Cruz, the the O'Neill I mean, yeah, I mean,
- 11:51O'Neill Cruz, too. Even you can throw him in the
- 11:53same category. I I think Kyle Schwarber is kind
- 11:56of like that guy, too. You kind of seen it this year
- 11:58with him. You know, he used to have that
- 11:59low average, but you just have so much power.
- 12:02You score runs, you get RBIs. And he had so many of them and
- 12:05just masked it. But you're right, though.
- 12:07But sometimes though, Doug, you got that guy that just kind of
- 12:10squeaks by the whole year and gets away with it and he's he's
- 12:14doing it. He's he's doing it.
- 12:16And if you can bank in on it, why not?
- 12:18He is the top catcher. There's no doubt about it this
- 12:21year in the league. I think someone on MLB Network
- 12:24even said he could be an MVP candidate because of what he's
- 12:27contributing for that Seattle team that's been looking for
- 12:30that power that we almost talked about every week.
- 12:33He is the power. He is the guy.
- 12:35So is it as bad as we think it is sometimes because we know we
- 12:38see the other guys perform, they're not so good.
- 12:40But if Cal Riley's doing his thing, maybe some guys like J
- 12:43Rod can really stop picking it up like he has been a little bit
- 12:46this year. So he is really valuable to that
- 12:48baseball team. Good for Cal Riley scoring those
- 12:52points. I mean, what else can you ask
- 12:54for? But is he going to keep it up?
- 12:56I I hope he does. You know, I'm a Seattle guy.
- 12:59You know that, Doug and it it's one of those things where you
- 13:02kind of have to kind of wait and see All Star break comes
- 13:05through, there's a little break and all of a sudden these guys
- 13:07go on a second-half decline. Who knows?
- 13:09But you know, right now you got to ride the wave.
- 13:13Oh, for sure. I will say though, say he does
- 13:17end up, you know, obviously to be honest with you, he could
- 13:20probably tank the second-half and he's so high up with his
- 13:23points. He would still rank a top 2
- 13:26catcher if he ends up taking the second-half.
- 13:28He has so many points right now, but the flip side of that is I
- 13:33wouldn't get pulled into him in next year's draft.
- 13:37You know, you look at Adley Rushman, right?
- 13:40It's a guy a couple of years ago who was the number one catcher.
- 13:42You draft them early in the, you know, third round maybe in most
- 13:46drafts. And what is he now?
- 13:48He's he's not a type 10 catcher at all.
- 13:50I think last I looked he's like 2/22/18 something around there
- 13:56that and you know, that's what happens, right, is you kind of
- 13:58fall into that trap of great year, probably keep it up.
- 14:03But if there's no track record of it, I don't know if they can,
- 14:07You know, I don't if, if Riley finishes number one overall, am
- 14:10I drafting him the first catcher off the board?
- 14:12I mean, look at Will Smith, right?
- 14:15I mean, three years ago he was the number one catcher.
- 14:18And then slowly but surely it's, it's just, it's kind of then he
- 14:22was like a #3 top three. And then, you know, last year
- 14:25maybe I think he's 6th and this year he's, he's a top five
- 14:28again. But still, I mean, these are
- 14:31guys that it's just you, you don't know really what you're
- 14:34getting from year on, year out. And so I just wouldn't fall for
- 14:38that trap if he does finish number one overall for next
- 14:40year's draft. That's all I'm saying.
- 14:42Not wrong, not wrong at all. I think it happens every year
- 14:45with someone add the rushman. I mean, even blame Contreras.
- 14:48He's still a very good hitter, but he's kind of been not the
- 14:50same guy like he was last year, right with the points.
- 14:53You know, Wilson Contreras, he was hot for a while.
- 14:55Remember when he started with the Cubs, You know, I thought he
- 14:58was going to be a a thud for years.
- 15:01And he he never really just put it together like we we all
- 15:05thought he did, you know, or was going to you in the back.
- 15:07So yeah, Cal Riley's right there.
- 15:10So next year in drafts, you know, don't think like, oh,
- 15:12he's, you know, projected this fifth round, you know, or sixth
- 15:16round and all of a sudden he tanks on you.
- 15:19He strikes out a bunch, like you said, Doug, and all of a sudden
- 15:21you're stuck with a bag. And you could have had like
- 15:23maybe a quality picture in that round or, you know, a position
- 15:27fill that you could have had, you know, instead of a catcher,
- 15:29treat catchers like catch kickers in fantasy football.
- 15:33That's what I would add, You know, instead of, you know, try
- 15:35and get like the Justin Tucker of the world's, you know, back
- 15:38in the day when he was a stud in like the the 12th, 13th round,
- 15:42you know, it's now catchers. It's the same thing.
- 15:45So next year, Cal Riley, definitely number one catcher.
- 15:48All of a sudden, you know he's the guy.
- 15:52Yeah, that's a great point to that.
- 15:54I do like that I was never really a draft early catcher
- 15:56guy. I was more of like a streamer,
- 15:59you know, last year I got lucky with Perez.
- 16:01This year I'm kind of getting lucky with Huraya for the
- 16:04Cardinals. So right until it doesn't work
- 16:08anymore. But yeah, I I agree.
- 16:09I don't I wouldn't waste an early pick on catchers,
- 16:11especially catchers that don't play every game, right?
- 16:14I mean a lot of times like you're Will Smith sits out like
- 16:18every 4th game. Yeah, another great example,
- 16:21yeah. So that is good to know.
- 16:24That's it's good information draft for sure.
- 16:28So this one is kind of funny to talk about.
- 16:30So this is the most and I, I do have the video and I will play
- 16:35it because you will get a kick out of it.
- 16:38This is called the most embarrassing MLB player of the
- 16:41year to date so far. And just to put some context
- 16:44around it, Blue Jays outfielder DNH George Springer scampers
- 16:48into third base. This was on a a Kirk double.
- 16:52Toronto, right? Once there, he's jumping up and
- 16:55down because he's so happy. He's like, yeah, let's go, you
- 16:58know, pumping everybody up, jumping up and down while he why
- 17:01are you jumping up and down instead of just sitting there
- 17:03clapping? Like, you know, it's beyond me.
- 17:06So the I think they're playing the A's and yeah, it is the A's.
- 17:11And the third, their third baseman just has the mindset to
- 17:15just tag him while he's jumping mid air tags in mid air.
- 17:19He's called out. I mean, the a the A's end up
- 17:23losing anyways. But I think it's it's good to
- 17:27note that you know, the Blue Jays have the fifth highest
- 17:30luxury tax payroll in the baseball, right?
- 17:33They should be doing a lot better than floating around 500.
- 17:36And plays like this that I'm going to show you are just are
- 17:39ridiculous. Take take a look.
- 17:41He keeps the tag on him and I got to believe the tag.
- 17:46He keeps the tag on him. And I got to I believe that
- 17:48George Springer is going to be called out after kind of
- 17:52bouncing on third base. Watch here.
- 17:55Oh yeah, he's out. Call it third base after a view.
- 18:01The call on the field is overturned.
- 18:03He is out. Yes, the run will score, so the
- 18:07run. Scored as coming in, they're
- 18:09going to try and answer back in the top of the six.
- 18:13I mean, what a boat. Hit play and you wonder why.
- 18:16Like you're, you're, you're you. You have the fifth highest
- 18:20luxury tax payroll, but you're 500.
- 18:23You're floating around 500. Like you wonder why.
- 18:26It's because you, you, you're I just.
- 18:29It frustrates me. They're not in a position right
- 18:34now to be, you know, rooting and chairing and jumping up and
- 18:37down. I feel just because where they
- 18:38are in the standings, it's going to be really close for them
- 18:41going down to the wire this year, especially with the
- 18:43division starting to squeak out of the way so early.
- 18:45So, yeah, George Spring is 35, kind of have a nice bounce back
- 18:49here this year. I I got him on a couple teams.
- 18:52He could be hit or miss week to week.
- 18:54But it's it's the thing with the payroll, like you said, Doug,
- 18:57fifth highest in the league. You expect more expectations
- 19:00from them. You know, it's supposed to be,
- 19:02hey, you paid more, you're supposed to win more baseball
- 19:05games. Doesn't seem like it's the case
- 19:07so far, obviously. But what I like what they do,
- 19:10though, is how they spend their money.
- 19:13It's just not panning out. It's you go get your your Vlad
- 19:16grail contract, right? You you lock your your mega All
- 19:20Star up and you got a sweet deal there.
- 19:23You know, that's an attraction for sure.
- 19:25You pay your pitchers. They it wasn't just a
- 19:28coincidence. They got, you know, barrios and
- 19:29they got a godsman. They got a crisper set that
- 19:32that's a lot of money right there alone, just in those front
- 19:35three guys alone. A lot of teams aren't doing
- 19:38that. They're trying to let their
- 19:39young guys come up and try to progress and kind of cheap out
- 19:42almost. But these guys went out and got
- 19:44pitching. I'm a fan of that.
- 19:46I want to buy pitching and then you grow your batters.
- 19:49I think that's the best way modern baseball works now.
- 19:51But it, it's just one of those things where I think Toronto's
- 19:54doing it right. They're just not executing right
- 19:56now. And I don't know what that is.
- 19:57I don't know if it's, you know, I, I don't follow them too hard.
- 20:00So it's, it's tough for me to say, but like it could be a
- 20:03manager thing. I mean, it could be a leadership
- 20:07thing. I I feel like Vlad is a good
- 20:09leader in there. So I, I kind of doubt that.
- 20:11And I feel like Beau Bouchette would be too, even the way he
- 20:14might not be hitting his expectation so far.
- 20:17A lot of bounce back here for sure.
- 20:18But yeah, it's just kind of funny with them.
- 20:22They're they're kind of, they're kind of a little lost I feel
- 20:25right now. I feel like they got all the
- 20:27tools but I don't know what's going to happen.
- 20:31I think they're, their pitching's been pretty good.
- 20:35Chris Bassett is pitching really good this year.
- 20:38Anyways, Gosman, he's actually his last 2-3 weeks, he's kind of
- 20:43turned it on. You know, you, you have them
- 20:44now. I, I will say, I think what
- 20:49really kind of deflated them was when they spent the money on
- 20:52Anthony Sandia and he's just not producing now.
- 20:57He's on the IL and it's, I feel like, you know, they're probably
- 21:01like wishing to do over on that, a Mulligan on that one.
- 21:06You know, I'm sure they didn't expect, you know, 44 home runs
- 21:10like last year. But I mean, thirty home runs
- 21:13isn't a realm of possibilities for expectations for him.
- 21:17So I think that is really what's hurting them right now.
- 21:21I think their offenses for sure. And with Anthony too, it, it's
- 21:26it's not so much his fault either.
- 21:27And I don't think it's so much Toronto's fault either.
- 21:30They've been craving for a bat to to go into that line of FPO
- 21:34like for years now. I feel like they're always in
- 21:36the bid for a lot of these guys that are that are available and
- 21:40they just lose on these bids and they just waiting to spend money
- 21:42and just try to bring a guy in. So I feel like they kind of just
- 21:46said, OK, we're going to do our trips with Anthony here and
- 21:49we'll we'll see what happens. And it's just not working out
- 21:52unfortunately, Like you said it Mulligan would be nice at this
- 21:54point. Yeah, it is what it is.
- 21:58I think maybe they wish they got like Austin Hayes or or somebody
- 22:01else a little cheaper could have saved him some money.
- 22:04He's producing pretty good with Cincinnati.
- 22:06I mean, again, who's to say he put up the same numbers if it
- 22:09wasn't Toronto? But as of now, it would be nice
- 22:12to say, hey, let's wish we would have did that.
- 22:15All right. So here's a good one, right?
- 22:17Wednesday night, Red Sox outfielder Rafaela.
- 22:20It's a walk off home ride in the bottom of the ninth inning
- 22:23against the Angels, giving the Red Sox a much needed win.
- 22:27I mean, talk about, I don't know what they've been doing, man.
- 22:32That's another subject, I think though.
- 22:35However, what made this home run, this walk off, a little
- 22:38different is that it is the shortest walk off home run since
- 22:42the stat cast tracking era began in 2015.
- 22:46It was 24 feet shorter than the next closest.
- 22:50It would only be a home run in one ballpark, Fenway Park.
- 22:55That's it. It's right off the pesky Pole.
- 22:58It wrapped right around. I don't have any sound, but I
- 23:01have the clip. Take a look at it.
- 23:03Here it is right here. They're going to show it again.
- 23:17It's just a little just barely clears and you're just like,
- 23:23wow, you know, again, shortest walk off ever hits it and
- 23:32there's a slow one right there. Just clears it.
- 23:34Look at this. I don't know if it's anything to
- 23:42gloat about, but it's a win nonetheless for them and they
- 23:47needed it. And, but, but my take on, on the
- 23:50team itself is I wouldn't be surprised if they don't make the
- 23:53playoffs at this point. They're definitely not winning
- 23:56the division that's out of it. We, we talked about Yankees kind
- 23:59of running away with this thing. They're four games out of the
- 24:02wild card and the AL Central is so competitive.
- 24:08I, I, I mean, I don't know if I can see the Red Sox breaking
- 24:11through. You know, they're Baltimore has
- 24:15been kind of winning. I think they won six their list
- 24:19six in a row, six or seven games in a row.
- 24:21I mean, they're making a case to move up in the standings in the
- 24:24in the East. And that means the Red Sox
- 24:26making a case to be in last place.
- 24:29So I don't honestly, I just I don't see it.
- 24:33You know, I've always said pitching is their big thing and
- 24:36I I think crochets panning out so far.
- 24:39But I I said at the beginning of the year, they need more, they
- 24:41need more. They need another, an ace, an
- 24:44ace. And you know, they, they didn't
- 24:47get one and they relied on Mark, you know, Lucas Giolito and
- 24:52Walker Buehler. And unfortunately, those guys
- 24:54just aren't the answers. So hot take, probably not making
- 24:58a playoffs. No, no.
- 25:01And we know tonight that Walker Buehler is having a horrible
- 25:03night. It's I think it's up to 7 earned
- 25:06runs at this point. So it's kind of getting crushed
- 25:08out there unfortunately, and that's not good.
- 25:11Yeah, there's a lot of question marks I think with the Red Sox
- 25:14at this point. And I think it's fair to say
- 25:17that you're going to see something happen soon and that's
- 25:20going to be a Roman Anthony call up potentially.
- 25:24It could be a firing. It could be, it could be a
- 25:29number of things right at this point, because once you start
- 25:32losing baseball games, everything's on the table, I
- 25:35feel, or it should be on the table.
- 25:37We know the Red Sox are in a unique situation right now, but
- 25:41at the same time, I think they're going to have to make a
- 25:43decision on a few things. Is Jared Duran really on the
- 25:48trade block? That's been kind of the the
- 25:49rumor this week. Is he going to go to San Diego?
- 25:53That was the the team that was already floated around.
- 25:56Interesting. Because that would be a fun fit,
- 25:58I think for for Jared Duran to go West Coast and, you know,
- 26:01maybe research has season from last year.
- 26:04And I think there is some trading bargaining chips, I
- 26:06think from San Diego that you can take from them from a a
- 26:10prospect perspective. I think they got some an elite
- 26:14prospect catcher. I think that looks pretty good.
- 26:16He's been floating around Salalis.
- 26:18I think if he didn't even swap there, I think that'd be a very
- 26:22fair trade to be honest with you.
- 26:23I think that'd be a fun trade just because once you lose Jared
- 26:29Duran, you know, Roman Anthony's coming up.
- 26:31So at least you know, you have your replacement right back
- 26:34there. So I think it's a fun, fun idea
- 26:36to explore. I love the guy.
- 26:38He's he's electric when he's great, but it's just hasn't been
- 26:41the case so far this year. So I I don't know what's going
- 26:44to happen. Doug, I'm I'm very confused with
- 26:45the Red Sox. I was very optimistic going into
- 26:47it and I'm, I'm upset that Roman Anthony is not up here yet.
- 26:52I think Jeff Pastor was on a, a podcast and he said it best.
- 26:55He said everyday Roman Anthony is not in the line up.
- 26:58That's the day that you could have maybe won a baseball game
- 27:00with them. So I, I, I kind of believe that.
- 27:03So I hope they do it soon. And, and I think Alex Korra is
- 27:07now officially on the hot seat. I agree with that.
- 27:11I mean, Roman Anthony, he's, I mean, you don't know what you're
- 27:15going to get with him. I mean, obviously you can sit
- 27:17there and say, guys, you know, an elite talent, right, a
- 27:21generational talent. I mean, they said it with
- 27:23Jackson Holiday. You know, look what happened
- 27:25when they called them up. I don't really put, you know,
- 27:30money on rookies being called up and producing out of the gate.
- 27:33I think it's more with pitchers because pitchers, if you're an
- 27:37elite pitcher, you're an elite pitcher.
- 27:38There's no, I mean, you know, if you're throwing, you know, 9899,
- 27:42we can, I'm sure me and you can just band through all day about
- 27:44pitches that called up and, and, you know, besides schemes and
- 27:47all Strasbourg, I mean the pitchers that just get called up
- 27:50that are studs that you know, will be studs.
- 27:52Garrett Cole, you know, Pirates when he first got called up.
- 27:55So I think it's easier to to and not just fantasy, but in
- 28:01baseball to get behind a a rookie pitcher to come up and
- 28:06start then it is a batter, if that makes sense.
- 28:09Yeah, I, I agree with that. And we've seen it this year too,
- 28:12and very short term on, on some guys for sure, like Logan
- 28:15Henderson got sent down, right. I think Joel Boyle from the the
- 28:20Rays, he came up for a start and he was great and he got sent
- 28:23down right away. But there's a lot of guys kind
- 28:26of knocking at the door for that for sure.
- 28:29And then and like you said with the bat, sometimes you just
- 28:31don't know what you're going to get.
- 28:32But now that I watch some guys like Jackson Cheerio and you
- 28:36know, Meryl per San Diego come being so young there, I think
- 28:43that's just kind of the new game is also just guys coming up
- 28:46younger at this point. And they're just going to throw
- 28:48them into the fire because they got these rookie contracts that
- 28:51they're paying a lot of money for now when they draft.
- 28:54So they want they want the product on the field.
- 28:57So they they, they're, they're just trying to move it faster.
- 29:01I feel nowadays with the kids. So maybe he produces, maybe he
- 29:04doesn't, but I feel like as a fan, I think it's exciting
- 29:07still. I'm, I'm stoked.
- 29:09I think he's going to be. I hope he's a.
- 29:10Stud yeah. And I do notice though, now
- 29:13nowadays too, they're they're kind of letting him stay up here
- 29:17like, you know, fight through the struggles.
- 29:20So I, I do like that That's, I think that's to me, if you're
- 29:23going to call a rookie up, you at least let him play a couple
- 29:27months, you know, two to three months full time play, then see
- 29:32if we'll take it from there. Like I, I just don't like when
- 29:34they call them up and then they struggle for a couple weeks,
- 29:38they just send them back down. Just never got behind that,
- 29:42yeah. I don't like it.
- 29:45All right, so and here, here's the last piece of this, this
- 29:48segment right here. So I know recently it seems like
- 29:52at least once a week we've seen these career alkylates kind of
- 29:56beat and reached, right, Chris Sale, the fastest of 2500
- 29:59strikeouts. You had Jacob degrom, the
- 30:01fastest pitcher ever to 1700. And then we always ask, you
- 30:06know, are these guys Hall of Fame worthy, right?
- 30:08Pull up the numbers, kind of go through them, see if we think
- 30:13they are, if they are or what would make them in the future
- 30:16become Hall of Fame worthy. So this past week, Padres third
- 30:20baseman Manny Machado hit his 350 home run.
- 30:24So now the question is, is Manny Machado a Hall of Famer?
- 30:29So I do have his numbers. There they are.
- 30:32You might have to make the screen a little bigger, but I
- 30:35can go through the numbers with you.
- 30:38He's got 1972 hits, he's got 350 home runs, he's got a little
- 30:45over 1000 ribbies. He's got 107 stolen bases and a
- 30:49280 average. Now I know where I stand with
- 30:52this, but I'd love to know Mike, because you were a Machado guy
- 30:56when he got called up with the Blue Jay.
- 30:59Excuse me? With Baltimore, you were all
- 31:01about them. You see the numbers.
- 31:04What do you think? So how old is Manny Machado?
- 31:10He's only 32 years old. He, he came up extremely young.
- 31:14I do remember that he he was a young, young call up and he
- 31:17really was just a stud. And you didn't say you didn't
- 31:20say how many gold gloves right There was that's I think how
- 31:24many does he? He's got a bunch, he's got a
- 31:26bunch. So he he's, he's defensively,
- 31:30you know, accolated with awards. So I think he he locked the the
- 31:34defensive side up the Batman. I mean, 280 average for your
- 31:38career. That's that's pretty good.
- 31:40And the the strikeouts. It's it's also pretty good for
- 31:44as many at bats as he's had, I think, but I don't know if he's
- 31:47there yet. 350 great accolade. But at the same time, I don't
- 31:50think he's quite, quite there. I think he needs to just just
- 31:55slump us up a little bit, maybe get a couple more awards, maybe
- 31:59a Silver Slugger in there. I know he's already got a few of
- 32:02those too, but you know, to have more, it's just better.
- 32:05It just pads the numbers a little bit because you know, we
- 32:08talked about Hall of Fame sometimes, Doug, and we always
- 32:11say it, it's about the numbers at the end of the day.
- 32:13Unfortunately, it's not just about like every single day
- 32:16going in and out because that does matter.
- 32:19But these guys, they look at their their career numbers and
- 32:25they, they evaluate from there and that's it.
- 32:28And I feel sometimes that's not the right way to do it.
- 32:31And maybe some people should be not voting because that's all
- 32:35they look at. But I that's a whole different
- 32:39podcast day, I feel. But yeah, I, I think Manny
- 32:42Machado is still a stud. I'm still a fan.
- 32:46I I he went to LA for a little bit.
- 32:48He was great there. Dodge.
- 32:50I mean, like he's just like a, he's just a dude.
- 32:53He's the guy that he was a kid, you know, he was kind of cocky,
- 32:59definitely cocky when he was younger, but now he's the now he
- 33:03gets it. You know, I, I don't want to
- 33:05make comparisons of other sports or entertainment, but he's like
- 33:09my, my Randy Orton of baseball. He he's like my, you know, Wiley
- 33:14vet understands what he's going through right now is he's in the
- 33:17midst of his, you know, veteran career and, you know, he's
- 33:21working with, you know, younger guys now in the in the clubhouse
- 33:24like Jackson Vera, like you said, and playing a different
- 33:28role a little bit, but at the same time still crushing it.
- 33:31So yeah, not there yet, but you're still a dude.
- 33:35I agree. So I think the biggest surprise
- 33:38when I look at his his stats is he's got 350 home runs, but he's
- 33:43got only 1000, a little over 1000 rabies like you know what I
- 33:47mean? That's less than 1/3 of his RB
- 33:52is are from, you know, oh, you can say solo shots at that
- 33:54point, which is kind of weird. I would figure that to be a
- 33:59little higher to me, like you said, I don't think he's there
- 34:03yet. I'm happy with the home runs.
- 34:05You know, he played third base 350 home runs.
- 34:08Like if he retired with 350, like that's that's a really good
- 34:12number. I mean, 350 home runs is Hall of
- 34:14Fame worthy, but if you give me 2500 hits, which he can, he's,
- 34:20he's almost at 2000, he'll be over 2000 by the end of the
- 34:23year. It's only 32.
- 34:25You know, if you can give me 2500 hits, anything you put on
- 34:29extra to these 350 home runs is just gravy at this point.
- 34:33So you give me 2500 hits, you give me, you know, whatever want
- 34:37to say 400 plus home runs, 400 plus home runs.
- 34:40And you know, if you can give me maybe 1500 ribbies because I
- 34:45don't think he'll get to 2000. He it's a Hall of Fame and
- 34:48they're all, all those numbers are underestimates in my
- 34:51opinion. If he's, you know, he's only 32
- 34:55and if you get 2500 hits in the next 8 years, you know, until he
- 34:58plays, he plays till 40 or even 4 years, right?
- 35:02That those are all achievable numbers.
- 35:04And I would say he is he, he'll be a Hall of Famer.
- 35:08There's no, there's nothing to tell me otherwise.
- 35:11You know, I'm sure I know coming from Red Sox Nation, a lot of us
- 35:15don't like Manny Machado because like you said, he he did come up
- 35:18cocky. People still blame him for
- 35:21Pedroia's career ending, you know, that that injury to his
- 35:24knee. And so I, I, I remember that
- 35:28play. But yeah, that slide into second
- 35:32with the with the cleats up, I just never understood it.
- 35:37But you know, I he, he is all Famer.
- 35:40He will be right now. These numbers are just
- 35:43borderline and if they're borderline and he's 32 and he's
- 35:46got, you know, five years more to play, he'll be all of it.
- 35:49I think he'll be fine. Where he'll finish, I don't
- 35:52know. I mean, you know, is he going to
- 35:54stay with the Padres, you know, for the rest?
- 35:56I I know he's still on that pretty decent long contract.
- 35:59I think there's only like 3 years left in it.
- 36:01Not entirely sure we could look that up later.
- 36:03But yeah, I mean, you know, he's having a pretty good year.
- 36:08And that's crazy because I remember like 3 or 4 years ago,
- 36:10he had a really down year and a lot of people thought maybe his
- 36:13better, his, his best years were behind him.
- 36:16And now, you know, couple of years Soto, when Soto was in
- 36:19that lineup two years ago, he put up some monster numbers, 30
- 36:23plus home runs on pace for that. I mean, he's, he's all fame.
- 36:28He will be, he will be. These are borderline numbers.
- 36:30Give him another four years of playing, at least he'll be a
- 36:33Hall of Famer. Yeah, he's he's just too good.
- 36:36I think he's ahead of the curb right now.
- 36:38He's just too patched. He he loves the game.
- 36:40He's he's on. He's on the way.
- 36:42He's on the way. Well.
- 36:45All right, so that was I mean man, it's always fun talking
- 36:48about that stuff so let's run into man, this is this is going
- 36:53to be pretty long too and I know we're really zooming in time,
- 36:57man, but let's go into the hurt locker.
- 37:00Let's talk about some injuries, take a break and then talk about
- 37:03the meat of the show, right, because I love the meat of the
- 37:06show. Let's just dig it right Every.
- 37:14So first and foremost, now I, I write this, this script most I,
- 37:20I write the Hurt Locker script on Thursday because Friday takes
- 37:23me like a couple hours to write this because I'm looking at
- 37:26who's hot, because I'm going over up to date numbers based
- 37:29off of Thursday night because they don't go into account until
- 37:31Friday morning. So I'm up Friday morning putting
- 37:34this thing together, but I like to do the Hurt Locker segment
- 37:36Thursday nights and then add whatever I can on Friday just to
- 37:40get it out of the way and start a little earlier.
- 37:42So when I had added this yesterday, it, you know, Arizona
- 37:47Stein pitcher Corbin Burns, they placed them on the IL the 15 day
- 37:50they called the right elbow inflammation and that he was
- 37:54getting a second opinion. Well, lo and behold, yeah.
- 37:58And and they even put a timetable the very least four to
- 38:00six weeks. That's the least.
- 38:02So, you know, you're thinking, OK, a couple weeks maybe he's
- 38:05just going to get a plasma injection like a Jack cranky,
- 38:08you know, get a plasma, come back a couple months later, you
- 38:12know, be fine. So he ended up getting Tommy
- 38:16John. He is now out for the rest of
- 38:18the year, probably out for all of next year as well.
- 38:21That's what they're saying. And we do have that that video
- 38:27of that how the injury occurred. He knew right away.
- 38:30Again, there is no sound to this clip.
- 38:33So I guess I could we could pretend to be announcers for a
- 38:37second. So let me here it is.
- 38:40This is Corbin Burns. This was earlier this week.
- 38:44And you know, so you know, I think that was CJ Abrams.
- 38:49As soon as the pitch it's a cutter.
- 38:52Let me rewind it so you can see Cutter right there.
- 38:58It was, you know, 3 miles an hour, you know, slower than his
- 39:01usual cutter. I think his last, that last,
- 39:03that whole inning, I think was a lot slower.
- 39:06Soon as he lets it go, you know, he knows something's up.
- 39:09Like something happened, calls in.
- 39:11You can read his lips saying, you know, I'm done.
- 39:14He's like my elbow's done. Like it's you know, it's done.
- 39:17It's you just see him, it's done.
- 39:19He he knew, he knew right away. And it's tough because before he
- 39:25before this has happened, I mean, the guy was in a groove. 5
- 39:28quality starts in a row, 3 and 1 ER as under 3.
- 39:33It's a 266. I mean, the guy's got 64 ratings
- 39:37pitch. He's got 63 strikeouts.
- 39:38He's got 130 points. He's giving you almost 12A start
- 39:42in the zone. You know, everybody who owned
- 39:45him in fantasy, who you know, his first two or three starts
- 39:49were not good at all, right? I mean, we were all saying to
- 39:52ourselves, man, and what's happening with Corbin Burns ends
- 39:55up, you know, stepping up. I think me and you both tried to
- 39:58buy low on them from Jimmy. We held on to him.
- 40:02Jimmy started reaping the benefits because he started
- 40:04pitching like we all know we could pitch, right?
- 40:07And then this happens. Tough to see, tough break for
- 40:10them. I mean, this was a big free
- 40:12agent acquisition, right? Let's go out.
- 40:14Let's let's bolster up. Let's trade for Josh Nailer,
- 40:17who's day-to-day now. Let's let's go out and sign a
- 40:20guy to a multi year contract. And it did put him in a good
- 40:25standing against the Dodgers like they actually have been.
- 40:28I think they might they either are tied or they might have one
- 40:31more game over than the Dodgers for the year so far versus each
- 40:35other and head to head match ups.
- 40:37But they're right there with him.
- 40:38And this is this is going to be tough.
- 40:41I don't know what I don't know if you can survive this as a
- 40:45team. And I mean, it might be dramatic
- 40:47to say like survive, right? But this is a guy that's giving
- 40:53you, you know, almost 200 innings, 200 strikeouts for the
- 40:57last five years in a row, right? This is a guy who can give you
- 41:0112 to 18 wins, a A3 or sub 3 ERA, and now he's gone for two
- 41:08years or a year and a half. He's gone.
- 41:11You know you're not going to have him next year.
- 41:12You're not going to have him for the rest of this year.
- 41:16That's tough. That is a tough pill to swallow
- 41:19for anybody, not just fans of of of fantasy baseball home.
- 41:23But I'm I'm a you know me, I'm a diamondback guy.
- 41:25I love the D backs. I I love the team.
- 41:28I love Josh Naylor. I love what they did.
- 41:31You know that, although I will say I hate the lineup juggling.
- 41:34I hate how you know Marte will bat lead off Corbin second, then
- 41:38Marte second, Corbin 1st and then Josh Kneeler bats 5th the
- 41:42other night and then now they moved them up to 3rd and it's I
- 41:46hate the juggling aspect of that lineup, but I think it's a great
- 41:49lineup and it's just it's tough to see, man.
- 41:51I don't I don't know if they can overcome.
- 41:54This is the word. That's it.
- 41:55Overcome. This guy's top five pitcher in
- 41:58the league that hands down when he's on.
- 42:00So, yeah, this is a humongous blow.
- 42:02I mean, this guy's a hoss. This guy is the dude.
- 42:04He he's been the dude. And he looks so good in the
- 42:07Arizona uniform, too. It just made sense when they
- 42:10signed them. It still does.
- 42:12You know, he'll come back down the road and, you know, I, I
- 42:15really hopefully expect he, he does Well, I think what is he,
- 42:1730 years old, Doug? And, and honestly, you know, he,
- 42:21he's got, he's got some stuff in the tank still.
- 42:23So I'm hopefully he'll, he'll come up about in the other side.
- 42:26So now you have to pivot and now say, OK, what's going to happen
- 42:29with Arizona and their rotation? You know, like it's not the
- 42:33same. You know, you can't just find
- 42:34the Corbin Burns on the streets like that and not pay for it,
- 42:37right? So if they're really serious
- 42:39about being competitive, you know, they're going to have to
- 42:41really, you know, dish out something in order to do it
- 42:43because they're already paying Josh Nail, like you said, Kenta
- 42:46Marte's got a pretty good contract.
- 42:48They already signed the, you know, Corbin Carol.
- 42:50So they spent money, They're invested, you know, for this
- 42:52short term here. So I'll be curious to see if
- 42:54they do make a move the to try to, you know, it's going to take
- 42:58multiple guys, I think to replace a guy like that.
- 43:01You know, not the same. You know, you're going to laugh,
- 43:04but E Rod came back, right? Rod Rodriguez just came back
- 43:06from Yeah, you know, they're paying him money too.
- 43:09You know, they're they're paying him a lot of money.
- 43:13So they have to roll them out. That owner must be so mad.
- 43:17You know, between Jordan Montgomery, you know, Rod
- 43:20Rodriguez and now you get Corbin Burns like you're getting,
- 43:23you're paying, you know, you know, what is that almost $300
- 43:26million for the nothing Like that's tough.
- 43:30That's, you know, that's tough right now.
- 43:33Not snow knock on Burns. You know, you don't try to get
- 43:35hurt. But, you know, as an owner,
- 43:37you're probably just like, come on, you know, I can't catch a
- 43:39break here. But yeah, there's going to be
- 43:43some alternative options. We talked about Sandy earlier.
- 43:45I mean, that could be a destination now.
- 43:48Always, like I like I said before, a change of scenery is
- 43:51always nice sometimes for a player.
- 43:53Sandy definitely needs it. He needs to get out of Miami
- 43:55really fast. So hopefully wherever he goes,
- 43:58he produces maybe Arizona's now probably officially in the
- 44:01hunting for him. I would, I would assume because
- 44:05now you have to replace them not just for one year now, but for
- 44:082. So it's not just a short term
- 44:10replacement, it's it's going to be a multi year replacement.
- 44:15Like I said, it's going to take multiple guys.
- 44:17Maybe next year, you know, Walker Bueller, I don't know if
- 44:19he's going to stay around in Boston.
- 44:21Who knows, you know, he'll be a free agent.
- 44:22Maybe you know, they'll sign him.
- 44:24I think there's going to be a lot that's going to happen in in
- 44:26Arizona in order for it to supplement a guy like Corbin
- 44:29Branch sucks. Yeah, yeah, it's going to be.
- 44:33It's going to be interesting what they do anyways.
- 44:36All right, so I do have a bunch more.
- 44:38Let me do half this list and then we'll do the other half and
- 44:41then I'll just do quick updates. All right, So let me breeze
- 44:44through. I'll do 4/4 now.
- 44:48We already talked about it. Josh Naylor, he's day-to-day.
- 44:50He's not in the line up today. He does have shoulder soreness.
- 44:54I guess it's something he's been playing through the last couple
- 44:56days. He is a top two first baseman in
- 44:59fantasy 289. Seven home runs, 33 strikeouts
- 45:04and nine stolen bases. Right, 174 points.
- 45:06He's giving you almost 3A start. Mets shortstop Francisco and
- 45:10Door, he's day-to-day. He's got a fractured right pinky
- 45:12toe. He suffered the injury after
- 45:14being hit by a pitch in the first inning of Wednesday's game
- 45:16over the Dodgers. He's going to play through it.
- 45:19So I don't know what type of production to expect from here
- 45:23on out. And while he's healing from the
- 45:25injury, I know he's not in the line up today, but expectation
- 45:29is he will be at some point this weekend.
- 45:31Maybe hold him out today, tomorrow.
- 45:33So on Sunday, I'm not entirely sure what they're going to do.
- 45:36He was, I mean, giving you 3.1 a start, 191 points, fourteen home
- 45:42runs, 42 runs, eleven stolen bases, 36 RBI.
- 45:46Then he 3030 on his way to 3030 for sure.
- 45:50Again, almost three years in a row now if he does Hunter Green
- 45:54starting pitcher for the Reds. He's on the 15 DIL he's got
- 45:56right a right groin strain. Same injury from put him on the
- 46:00IL earlier in May 4 and 359 innings, 73 strikeouts, 14
- 46:08walks, a 27 a 133 points. He's giving you 12.1 a start.
- 46:13I never got the fascination with Green, if I got to be honest.
- 46:15You know, I, I know people view him as an ace.
- 46:18I think he's a solid 3 in the rotation.
- 46:20You know, especially I think it's the injuries for me then
- 46:23really kind of throw it off. And, and not only that, I mean,
- 46:26his last four starts he's averaged less than 5 innings.
- 46:30He, he went O and one and he didn't pitch more than 5
- 46:33innings. I think 1 was 3/1 was 41 was,
- 46:36you know, one was five. He, he just, I don't know.
- 46:39I, I like, I don't understand why Rob and, and not to call him
- 46:43out in our league, but would trade a Bryce Harper for him
- 46:46straight off. Like, I don't, I just, I, I
- 46:48don't know. But we'll take a little break
- 46:51from there. Yeah, I, I think, yeah, let's
- 46:55start with him. Let's stay on him real quick.
- 46:56I mean, the guy is a, a very good pitcher when he's on.
- 47:00We, we saw it when he came out the gate in April, He was
- 47:02pitching really, really well. 133 points is surprising.
- 47:06That's low because I feel like with a 27 ERA, you know, that
- 47:11WHIP must be around like a one one or so I would assume, give
- 47:13or take. You know, there should be a
- 47:16couple more wins probably in there, right.
- 47:18That's that's kind of it feels low for me.
- 47:20But at the same time, you know that Cincinnati's, you know,
- 47:23playing about 500 balls. So it kind of makes sense.
- 47:26At the same time, look, Hunter Green reminds me of maybe when
- 47:32TJ on Walker was a prospect with Seattle.
- 47:36And see, he was he was, you know, the top pitching prospects
- 47:39at a time. And he was kind of built not as
- 47:42big as Hunter, but he was built as a big guy power pitcher.
- 47:45When he's on, he's he's commanding.
- 47:48And that's what Hunter's Green's expectation is, is, is exactly
- 47:51that in his game. And you kind of getting the
- 47:55Tajon Walker feel though, is sometimes when he has those
- 47:57outings when, like you said, he doesn't even go, you know, 6
- 48:00innings, sometimes not even 5 innings.
- 48:02And he gets himself in trouble early.
- 48:05And he does it often more than he does it, you know, that he
- 48:08should really, because I feel like I see it often with him
- 48:11more than other guys. Happens sometimes.
- 48:13I get it. You know, pitch count gets up,
- 48:15creeps up on you. You have, you know, 8
- 48:16strikeouts, but you also had three or four walks.
- 48:19So it, it can happen at times with some pitchers, but he does
- 48:22it more often than not. Yeah, he's all right.
- 48:24I think he's a good #3 for you, like your fantasy team for sure.
- 48:28You know, he's a guy that's going to hopefully get you some
- 48:30wins. You know, when he's pitching
- 48:32really well, you know, he can go 7 innings, 8 innings, got a
- 48:35bunch of KS and and hopefully get AW for you.
- 48:38But yeah, it's a tough loss. I think for Cincinnati as a
- 48:41whole, though, there's not a lot of great pitching there.
- 48:43He's kind of like spark a little bit.
- 48:46So that's going to be a tough replacement.
- 48:48Hey, Francisco, it is what it is.
- 48:51He's going to play through it. We're going to see what his
- 48:53production is. I'm curious about what how he's
- 48:55going to do. We'll see.
- 48:56But obviously you're going to have to start him if he's
- 48:58playing. So I'm not moving him.
- 49:00Obviously I got him from you, Doug, but he's been, he's been
- 49:05great when he plays. He's been awesome.
- 49:09And then Josh Naylor, man, the nail man, he's just a stud.
- 49:13Let's just let's just take a moment and just talk about how
- 49:15good that guy's been for Arizona since he's gotten there.
- 49:18No, like barely any strikeouts and he's got nine stolen bases.
- 49:21That doesn't look like a guy that steals bases to me, but
- 49:24he's doing it. He's a big boy, but man, he's
- 49:27telling me he's going to get no strikeouts as much as he has and
- 49:30he's going to get some stolen bases on top of that.
- 49:32I don't think fantasy owners were expecting that from him
- 49:36this year. So it's kind of like a little
- 49:37bit of a bonus. And like you said, top two first
- 49:39baseman in the league. I mean, that's that's awesome.
- 49:43This is what exactly what Arizona paid for, for the nail
- 49:47game to do exactly this. So I'm disappointed to see him
- 49:50on this list. Hopefully he's back in that line
- 49:52of tonight or tomorrow this weekend, because he's just too
- 49:57valuable for a fantasy team right now. 174 points averaging
- 50:01you 3 points almost per like that's that's legit.
- 50:04That's that's a stud. All right, let me run down the
- 50:09list. The rest real quick.
- 50:11You got Dodgers second baseman, shortstop outfielder Tommy
- 50:14Edmond. He's day-to-day with an ankle
- 50:16injury. This is the same injury he
- 50:18suffered month over a month ago. So they're not entirely sure
- 50:24what they're going to do. He did play yesterday, but Dave
- 50:26Roberts said he could receive additional time off throughout
- 50:29the week. Stardom at your own will.
- 50:32I, I mean, it's like, I can't really tell you much more.
- 50:35You know, I can only tell you what I I read.
- 50:37And they're still going to play them.
- 50:39But they have so much death, especially with Kim coming on
- 50:41strong that they'll probably give him more time off than
- 50:44usual. Pretty still pretty good start.
- 50:47I mean, he was starting to find his rhythm too before the
- 50:49injury. He was hitting 368 his last
- 50:51seven games. You know, he was averaging 2.6 a
- 50:54start for someone that you drafted pretty late.
- 50:57You you were reaping the benefits.
- 50:58And whenever he is out the and he's out there, he is helping
- 51:01you out a lot in fantasy. Marlins starting pitcher Max
- 51:05Mayer, he landed on a 15 day IL. He's got a right, I know a left
- 51:08hip implement impingement. Excuse me, He's looking at more
- 51:13of a mid June return. He's giving you 7.9 points a
- 51:16start, 95 points, a 470 RA. Not really what you want out of
- 51:22out of him. I mean, it is what it is.
- 51:25Twins shortstop Pablo Lopez, he's going to be on the IL.
- 51:29He's got a grade 2 strain of the muscle in his throwing shoulder.
- 51:32So they're looking 8 to 12 weeks.
- 51:34So you're looking at least 2 1/2, you know, maybe two months,
- 51:37maybe 2 1/2. He was giving you 11 points.
- 51:41I mean, 16 innings pitch, 61 strikeouts at 280, RA five and
- 51:46three. Probably should have won a
- 51:47couple more because of the offense really lagging in
- 51:50Minnesota, but is what it is. Padres first baseman, DH second
- 51:55baseman Luisa Raas, he is day-to-day with a knee injury.
- 51:58He is starting today. Did walk his first at bat.
- 52:00I did see that. It doesn't seem to be a bad
- 52:03injury. He is back in the line up, but
- 52:05it is something to monitor. I don't know what they're going
- 52:08to do with him. And then last, second baseman,
- 52:11shortstop Xander Bogarts. He's day-to-day.
- 52:14He's got a left shoulder soreness.
- 52:16This is the same shoulder he fractured last season.
- 52:19So for now, he is day-to-day. But NIL stent will probably be
- 52:23coming. And I take it by that facial
- 52:26expression that you made in the background, somebody must have
- 52:28hit something. Muscle Merit hit his first home
- 52:32run. Wow, good for him.
- 52:36Crushed it. Solo shot.
- 52:40Good for him. Hey, great to see Luis Horias
- 52:47back in that line up. Thank God, huh?
- 52:48That guy's a stud. When he's on there, like you
- 52:51said, the no strikeouts is huge with him.
- 52:54He's just a a walk machine hit machine when he's on.
- 52:59He doesn't strike out when he's off.
- 53:01So safe player. Good to see him back out there.
- 53:04Got him in a league too, so he's super valuable for me being 1st
- 53:07and 2nd going up the list. Max Mayer, you know, you can't
- 53:12really expect too much from him this year.
- 53:15Very, very good pitcher. He's going to be a strikeout
- 53:17type guy for sure. But you know, I think he's
- 53:20probably maybe a year or two off from really being a fantasy stud
- 53:24at this point. So hate to see him obviously get
- 53:27injured, but you know, part of the game.
- 53:30So hopefully he comes back soon. Left hip implementation that is
- 53:34unique. That's different.
- 53:36I haven't heard that one before. I don't know how I like about
- 53:40hip injuries, but you know, it is what it is.
- 53:43I like I said for him, it's not about this year.
- 53:45I think for fantasy owners, it's about next year with Max Mayer.
- 53:49I think that's more maybe like a sleeper pick.
- 53:51Maybe he's like a Brandon Wu next year where he goes really
- 53:55late. You know, he's got some talent
- 53:57and you know, maybe something hits right.
- 54:01And then you got Tommy Edmund, you know, the vet, the wildly
- 54:05vet, just not staying on the field lately, unfortunately,
- 54:10like you said, playing fantastic when using that line up helps
- 54:13that line up go around too, being a part of it.
- 54:17So hopefully he comes back, like you said, he's only day-to-day,
- 54:21right? So, you know, we'll see.
- 54:22Hopefully he comes back this weekend.
- 54:24And I mean, the way he's been producing Doug when he is on the
- 54:28field, I think he's a must start, right?
- 54:32Yeah, Yep, for sure. What's up?
- 54:39Yeah. And all right, so let me run
- 54:41down the updates real quick. Philly's starting pitcher, Erin
- 54:45Noah, he was scheduled for a bullpen session yesterday that
- 54:47was pushed back due to experiencing mild side
- 54:49stiffness. So I'm assuming they're going to
- 54:52let that subside, take it from there.
- 54:56So there's really no timetable with him now.
- 54:59Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert, he made a second rehab
- 55:02start for AAA. He threw 60 pitches in three
- 55:04innings, allowing two runs. I think they're going to lean
- 55:07with giving him one more start before calling them up.
- 55:10But don't quote me on that. They were, they were still
- 55:12having that thrown up in the air.
- 55:14Mets starting pitcher Sean Monet, he began his rehab
- 55:17assignment Wednesday with Jae. Brewers starting pitcher Brandon
- 55:21Woodruff just can't catch a break then.
- 55:23So he's he was making his last rehab start and then he was
- 55:27struck on the elbow with a line drive.
- 55:31Initial test looked good, but he is flying to Milwaukee.
- 55:34I think he got there today. He's they're going to do some
- 55:36more extensive training testing to see what that if there is an
- 55:40injury or if there is maybe a hairline fracture or something.
- 55:45Guardian, this one just broke today.
- 55:47Guardian starting pitcher Shane Bieber, he was supposed to make
- 55:51his rehab start. They ended up canceling that
- 55:55today and that was due to experiencing some more soreness
- 55:59from that, from that Tommy John surgery from his elbow.
- 56:02So they're not sure they're again, just going to ride it
- 56:05out, wait until he feels a little better, maybe take some
- 56:08tests and then have him go out. Ray's starting pitcher Shane
- 56:12Mcculloughan, he had his first bullpen session scheduled for
- 56:16today, so I'm not sure how that went yet, but it's good to see
- 56:21step in the right direction. There's still no timetable for
- 56:24his return. This was a funny one for me.
- 56:29Astros outfielder DH Jordan Alvarez, his hand hand injury
- 56:33was worse than they originally thought.
- 56:36So after hitting drills this past weekend, he still felt pain
- 56:39in his right hand. The injury was just believed to
- 56:42be a muscle strain, but it was actually a fracture and it is
- 56:45only about 60% healed. So that tells me he's probably
- 56:50another two to three weeks away from coming back like they
- 56:54originally thought he would. That's just bad.
- 56:58Everything that's that's bad medical Tristaff.
- 57:01I mean, I don't know, but but that's why I always say it's
- 57:04like, remember we were talking about injuries.
- 57:07I want to say must have been a couple weeks ago where they're
- 57:10like, OK, he's not going to do any test testing, but we're just
- 57:14going to let the you know, the the swelling subside and then
- 57:16have him go back out. It was a picture.
- 57:18I forget who it was, but we're not going to do any testing.
- 57:21We're just going to have wait until it's, you know, the the
- 57:23swelling goes down and then go back out and pitch and see where
- 57:25he is. And I'm saying to myself, why
- 57:27don't you just do the imaging and get it over with?
- 57:30And this is a This is why. This right here is why.
- 57:34And obviously it probably only happens 10% of the time, not
- 57:37even right. But This is why.
- 57:42Yeah, second straight year with Houston, right?
- 57:44I mean, last year with Kyle Tucker with that, you know, he
- 57:47actually fractured it, right? He fractured his foot and they
- 57:49thought it was just a, a, a bone bruise or whatever it was.
- 57:53And then come to find out it wasn't, he missed a lot more
- 57:56time than we all thought. So, yeah, weird story with
- 58:00Jordan Alvarez for sure. And honestly, the way the way
- 58:03he's been playing, I mean, you're not missing much I feel
- 58:05because he has not been producing like the way he has
- 58:08been and probably the way you drafted him too.
- 58:11So you're kind of in a tough position with him.
- 58:13It's more of a hold at this point and just kind of wait and
- 58:15see because you know, whatever value you have for him or you
- 58:18thought you had for him totally out the window.
- 58:21Like it's, you know, Doug said what another 3-4 weeks probably
- 58:24more likely might have to do a rehab a little bit as well.
- 58:27It is what it is. Saint Mcfellahan.
- 58:30I'm going to hold my breath on that.
- 58:32I feel like at this point, there's not a lot of information
- 58:35coming out about him. Yeah, you can be throwing, but
- 58:37that can still mean you're still, you know, 5-6 weeks away
- 58:41from even, you know, stepping on the mound and and tamper at this
- 58:44point. So, you know, until he really
- 58:47starts ramping up, maybe going on a rehab, then I'll start
- 58:49maybe putting a, you know, thought into it, you know, if
- 58:53he's available in your leagues or, or whatever.
- 58:56But at this point, it's the whole man Brandon Woodwiff.
- 59:00Let's talk about him for a second, right?
- 59:01Tommy Jones injury rehab all of a sudden hurts his ankle on his
- 59:06last rehab start, needs what, one or two more it goes.
- 59:10You know, the second rehab or his ankle injury gets hit in the
- 59:13shoulder now, like it sounds like it's not too serious.
- 59:17He's already going to Milwaukee. I think if he gets cleared, he's
- 59:19just going to get the call up anyway.
- 59:21So I think at this point, I think they just got to keep him
- 59:25in Milwaukee just to make sure he doesn't anything else happens
- 59:28about his rehab here. I mean, hey, I I got him in a
- 59:31league. I'm in a 14 team and it's pretty
- 59:33pitcher heavy. I did draft him.
- 59:35So I am looking forward to him coming back.
- 59:37I do think Milwaukee's competitive team.
- 59:39So maybe a couple extra points. I'm not expecting a lot from
- 59:42him. If I even get, you know, 90 to
- 59:45100 innings out of him at this point on moving forward.
- 59:47I think that's a win. That's a huge win.
- 59:50And like you said, you had Gilbert on here.
- 59:53You know, it sounds like good news for Logan Gilbert.
- 59:55Sounds like bad news for Hancock, who's been pretty good
- 59:58for him except for a couple shaky starts.
- 1:00:00Sounds like he's going to get the boot out of the rotation.
- 1:00:02So that's unfortunate because I'm a fan.
- 1:00:06I think he was kind of he he he's a talented prospect and he
- 1:00:09got his shot. And, you know, it's just they're
- 1:00:12so deep. So they don't really need him at
- 1:00:14this point. So you'll probably see him at
- 1:00:15some point later in the season. But I think he's a safe drop
- 1:00:18once slogan Gilbert gets the call up and they do probably
- 1:00:22demote him. And then Aaron Nola, I mean, I
- 1:00:25hope this guy gets back on the mount soon because there's a lot
- 1:00:27of conflicting stories with him since he got hurt.
- 1:00:29We thought he was going to be back in this rotation probably
- 1:00:32at this point, but continues to to rehab.
- 1:00:35So stiffness, you know, Noah's got a lot of headings under him.
- 1:00:40He's going to get some stiffness.
- 1:00:41So and then I'll, I'll finish with Shane Bieber.
- 1:00:46I'm not freaking out. I'm not putting up the fire
- 1:00:48alarm yet. I think Tommy John, I think you
- 1:00:50do have a lot of shoulder shortness after and throwing.
- 1:00:53So I don't think it's uncommon. So he could be back on that
- 1:00:56mound in a few days, throwing a bullpen session, getting ready
- 1:00:59for that AA rehab start. So he may be pitching Wednesday
- 1:01:02or Thursday of next week to get that campaign going.
- 1:01:05He probably has about four or five starts in probably AAA at
- 1:01:09that point because they're going to have to build up his pitch
- 1:01:12count. So I I expected maybe the after
- 1:01:15the All Star break. I think that was always what we
- 1:01:18kind of thought too, to be real about it.
- 1:01:20There's no rush to bring him back.
- 1:01:22They're playing pretty good baseball.
- 1:01:24There's going to be in the race. It'll just be nice to have him
- 1:01:27back in the rotation when he is back.
- 1:01:28But yeah, I I don't think I'm not overreacting to it.
- 1:01:32Yeah, it's good stuff. All right, so puts us right on
- 1:01:37par, man. So let's take a quick break and
- 1:01:41then we're going to come back. We're going to talk about who's
- 1:01:43been hot this week as far as hitters, pitchers, who's not
- 1:01:46been hot this week as far as hitters, pitchers and then some
- 1:01:49pretty good. We'll go over last week's our
- 1:01:51our buy low, sell high candidates, see how they fared
- 1:01:55this week and then talk about some new ones.
- 1:01:59So don't go anywhere. We are going to be right back.
- 1:02:04You going back in? There's still men out there.
- 1:02:19When I go home, people ask me, hey, who?
- 1:02:24Why do you do it, man? Why?
- 1:02:28Some kind of war junkie? I won't say a goddamn word.
- 1:02:34Why? They won't understand.
- 1:02:37They won't understand why we do it.
- 1:02:43They won't understand it's about the men next to you.
- 1:02:49That's it. That's all it is.

- 1:03:01considered the official stance of MBR views.
- 1:03:05Remember, this is all about having fun and enjoying the
- 1:03:07ride. All right, we're jumping right
- 1:03:39in. You heard it here.
- 1:03:40We're going in. Who's hot?
- 1:03:41Who's not? One of my favorite segments of
- 1:03:43the show. I love looking at, you know,
- 1:03:46some, some of the higher, better performers that are only like
- 1:03:49really not owned in many leagues.
- 1:03:53So let's just dive right in. All right, I'll go over the 1st
- 1:03:572:00. I'll go over the hitters, Mike,
- 1:03:59and then we can break them down a little more and then go right
- 1:04:01into the pitchers. He's first baseman, outfielder
- 1:04:05Tyler Soderstorm. He's 71% owned.
- 1:04:08Now let's remember this guy made the who's not list last week.
- 1:04:12He gave you a -10 points. He struck out 14 times.
- 1:04:16So I think this is kind of what we'll see from him.
- 1:04:19Not consistent, a lot of uncertainty.
- 1:04:21I know he was benched in in our money league that we're in, and
- 1:04:26I bet most leads probably benched him too.
- 1:04:27But he had a really good week, right?
- 1:04:30261 full homers, 11 ribbies, five runs, no stolen bases, 6
- 1:04:33strikeouts, gave you 40 points, 5.7 a start.
- 1:04:38And then Willie Castro, I feel he was on the list last year too
- 1:04:41at one point. He's the kind of the Swiss Army
- 1:04:45knife shortstop, second, third outfield, every position he's
- 1:04:49only 25% on. He batted 385.
- 1:04:52Four home runs, six rabies, eight runs, a stolen base, 5
- 1:04:55strikeouts, same thing, 40 points, 5.7 to start.
- 1:04:58I do have some honorable mentions.
- 1:05:01Marcus Simeon, who we had said by low on probably I think 3
- 1:05:06weeks ago maybe. He seems to be turning it
- 1:05:09around. I mean, 38 points last week,
- 1:05:12take two home runs yesterday, I think maybe he is turning that
- 1:05:16corner. And then of course, Max Muncie,
- 1:05:18he had 38 points as well with the Dodgers.
- 1:05:21And it was actually a funny picture I saw him that has when
- 1:05:25he bats with glasses on versus when he doesn't bat with glasses
- 1:05:29on. And it's pretty funny because
- 1:05:30he's much better with the glasses on.
- 1:05:33But so those are your your hottest hitters for this week.
- 1:05:37Yeah, Tyler Soderstrom, right, former catcher, one of the top
- 1:05:41prospects at one point for Oakland.
- 1:05:43Now just formally now the A's, you know how young he is still.
- 1:05:49He's only like 23 years old. I mean, that's that's such a
- 1:05:52young ball club and they got so many guys playing together.
- 1:05:54I think they're going to be, I think they're going to be pretty
- 1:05:56good down the road. They score a lot of runs and
- 1:05:59they're one of the top run support scorers in the AL right
- 1:06:02now, surprisingly. But yeah, great week for him. 40
- 1:06:06points crushed it. I mean, four home runs is
- 1:06:10fantastic. Only striking out six times.
- 1:06:13Not too bad, not too bad at all for him.
- 1:06:15He does tend to strike out a lot.
- 1:06:17So like the Duck said, I mean, the guy was on The Who not list
- 1:06:21last week. So like it's, you know, these
- 1:06:25guys come and pop up and they go on these these crusades and he
- 1:06:28just did it and crushed it and hey, what are you going to do?
- 1:06:32It is what it is. It's hopefully you had him, you
- 1:06:34started him only 71% owned. I think that's a fair, fair
- 1:06:38number. I don't think he should be owned
- 1:06:40probably more than that. I don't know if he's going to
- 1:06:42continue the streak. But if you're looking for a guy
- 1:06:45just a a plug and play in a daily league, this is a great
- 1:06:47guy if he's still available. So definitely grab him if you
- 1:06:51can still, because we know we're only doing what, Friday through
- 1:06:55Friday through Thursday, Doug. So you know, that means he's
- 1:06:58still hot now, you know, until he isn't.
- 1:07:00So maybe you got a couple more days you can ride this guy out
- 1:07:04and like really, Castro, the guy is just a renaissance man, plays
- 1:07:07everywhere. Got to love it.
- 1:07:08That's an old school type of player right there.
- 1:07:11One of the bright spots in the Twins organization right now.
- 1:07:14Not a lot to be, you know, bragging about.
- 1:07:16You know, Joe Ryan's been pitching pretty good.
- 1:07:18But really, other than these two guys, not a lot going on.
- 1:07:21So yeah, like you said, Doug, this segment's about guys that
- 1:07:24are not owned, 25% owned. This guy's just kind of hanging
- 1:07:27out right now, probably drafted in some leagues late just
- 1:07:31because of his versatility. Maybe hope to hit a, you know, a
- 1:07:34home run on a late pick. Hasn't really been the case so
- 1:07:37far this year except for last week.
- 1:07:40If you need to take a flyer, like I said, these guys are
- 1:07:42great daily league guys. You know when they start heating
- 1:07:44up, they're great. And then that way they plug and
- 1:07:46play daily. Don't have to worry about them
- 1:07:48fading in a week where they just scored 28 points and all of a
- 1:07:52sudden they score -2 that happens all the time.
- 1:07:55So like I I say with precaution, if you're in a weekly league,
- 1:07:59definitely take precaution. But if you're in a daily league,
- 1:08:02take the flyer early on until they start fading all.
- 1:08:06Right. And it's just we'll hop right
- 1:08:08into the pitchers. Astro stunning pitcher Framer
- 1:08:11Valdez, the Predator himself. He 98.2% owned 2 and O 16
- 1:08:18innings pitched a complete game, 20 strikeouts, four walks, 3
- 1:08:22earned 61.16 points. I think that's the highest so
- 1:08:26far for pitching in a in a week. I I know there was a no hitter
- 1:08:32earlier, but that was just one start in that week.
- 1:08:35So it didn't, you know, translate into two starts.
- 1:08:41So yeah, 61.68 points that came. His complete game came against
- 1:08:46Tampa Bay at home. And then he pitched at
- 1:08:48Pittsburgh yesterday with 11 strikeouts.
- 1:08:51Great starts. I mean, his last five, his last
- 1:08:53six starts, he's 5 and O all quality starts.
- 1:08:57Baltimore's starting pitcher Zach Afflan, he's only 36.4%
- 1:09:01owned 2 and O 13 innings pitched, 13 strikeouts, a walk 3
- 1:09:05and 46 points. First start was at home against
- 1:09:09the White Sox. His second start was in Seattle.
- 1:09:14So in my opinion, starts he probably should win, you could
- 1:09:17say. And then honorable mentions we
- 1:09:19do have Chris Bessette. We did talk about earlier with
- 1:09:21Toronto, 36 points, 76 points and Robbie Ray with 36.72
- 1:09:29points. So those guys been pretty,
- 1:09:33pretty stable, I would say for most of the year.
- 1:09:35And and like I said, Valdez has really been turning it on his
- 1:09:38last six starts. Yeah, yeah, real quick, Robbie
- 1:09:42Ray, what a great guy he's been this year, like top ten pitcher
- 1:09:46just scoring a lot of points for for San Francisco.
- 1:09:50Yeah, just crushing it this year.
- 1:09:51So not surprised to see him on the honorable mentions.
- 1:09:53Like you said, Chris Bassett having a really good year so far
- 1:09:56got probably him at a good value.
- 1:09:59If you do have money, fantasy team, right?
- 1:10:01I start with Zac Afflan, 36% owns really not a lot of
- 1:10:04ownership there. That Baltimore team been up and
- 1:10:08down, more down. But the pitching especially
- 1:10:12unfortunately, it's just kind of what it's been this year.
- 1:10:15Good to see them kind of have a little bright spot in Seattle.
- 1:10:17I think one guy I was playing did start Zac Afflan against me.
- 1:10:21Like I said, it's that pitcher heavy league.
- 1:10:23So what he saw a decent match up and he went with the hey, it is
- 1:10:27what it is. You know, that's how you kind of
- 1:10:28win those weeks sometimes in those type of leaks.
- 1:10:30So that guy from we know what he can do when he's on, but we know
- 1:10:34this year hasn't been his best year so far battling injuries,
- 1:10:38not pitching to his his par. So these two starts been a
- 1:10:41bright spark for Baltimore. Well, let's spend some time on
- 1:10:43Framber. Framber's been the dude, right?
- 1:10:46Framber's been the guy every year, year in, year out,
- 1:10:50consistent, low pitch count, still strikes out guys, goes
- 1:10:54deep in the ball games, gives you an extra chance, maybe an
- 1:10:57extra inning, 2 innings to get that win, maybe that you maybe
- 1:11:00didn't get when you pitch A6 innings right.
- 1:11:02He just gives you a better chance of just maximizing your
- 1:11:05points. And he's been doing it right.
- 1:11:07This guy's been doing it. Staple fantasy fantasy baseball
- 1:11:13staple in my opinion. I'll tell you, though, so I own
- 1:11:16Framer Valdez and there are sometimes where, you know, he
- 1:11:20goes out for the 7th and I'm just like, just biting my tongue
- 1:11:23and I'm like, dude, maybe you should not take him out.
- 1:11:26Like, maybe you should, you know, take these six innings.
- 1:11:29You know, maybe he gave up a run or two and call it a win, right?
- 1:11:33And he'll go out there and for the most part he but at the
- 1:11:37beginning of the year he did not succeed when they did that.
- 1:11:41Like he would go out there in the 7th and I'd say why, you
- 1:11:44know, why is he going out there? He's, he already has like 4
- 1:11:46walks this game, you know, but and, and then he'd end up
- 1:11:51getting a loss. And lately he's kind of reminds
- 1:11:54me these last six starts of like 3 years ago when he pitched the
- 1:11:59no hitter and he was almost, I want to say a top 2 fantasy
- 1:12:04pitcher. And then, you know, last year
- 1:12:07and the year before, maybe not up to par, but this what he's
- 1:12:10doing now is, I mean, this tells me like, I feel like he might be
- 1:12:16the framer from a couple years ago with a no hitter like this
- 1:12:19might be the the he might finish one or two, I don't know.
- 1:12:24He's got to keep it up, keeps it up.
- 1:12:26I I think he's he's got all the tools to do it.
- 1:12:28And like we said, his pitch count is just phenomenal.
- 1:12:31You know, like, like we talked about school sometimes, you
- 1:12:34know, he keeps that pitch count pretty low and pretty consistent
- 1:12:36Fram. But I think it's just a pro at
- 1:12:38it at this point week in week out.
- 1:12:41So again, like he just gives you so many chances to, to maximize
- 1:12:44your points. It's just really hard to to
- 1:12:47argue against a guy like that. And it's easy.
- 1:12:50It's easier to justify drafting a guy like that at the the third
- 1:12:54fourth round instead of maybe drafting, you know, a guy that
- 1:12:59was maybe like a top six or seven because you know where he
- 1:13:02was drafted this year, he wasn't drafted very high.
- 1:13:05He was, he was definitely a faded pick for sure going into
- 1:13:08this year. So if you got him at a good
- 1:13:10price, I mean, you just, you probably just hit on like a #1
- 1:13:14or #2 pitcher potentially. So that's, that's huge.
- 1:13:17That's exactly what you look for in a draft.
- 1:13:20Yeah, I think I went Logan Webb and then him and they've been my
- 1:13:24my top 2 pitchers so far to date.
- 1:13:27Logan Webb's been great too. You know, we, we we're playing
- 1:13:29against each other this week. We had the same thing happened.
- 1:13:32We had Logan Webb go great right and he got a no decision, I
- 1:13:36believe. And then schemes go and we know
- 1:13:39the story about schemes just never getting that run support
- 1:13:42consistently. So it's.
- 1:13:46Been a bad but let's let's put some context to this because you
- 1:13:50also started the guy pitching against schemes, so it's almost
- 1:13:54like you were guaranteed a win at some point, right?
- 1:13:57Well. Wait, who's your closer?
- 1:14:02Which one? Josh Hayter.
- 1:14:08Josh Hayter, that's all right. You still got the win, right?
- 1:14:10I mean you got. I got the win, I got the loss
- 1:14:13and and it's like you stole the win away with with the hater
- 1:14:19save. I think you struck out three
- 1:14:20too. Yeah, I think he did too.
- 1:14:23I'm I'm still losing so I needed it anyways, all right.
- 1:14:28And I'm probably going to lose this week because I think you
- 1:14:30still have like you have like 8 starters left.
- 1:14:32I only have like 2. And, and I got Josh Naylor who's
- 1:14:36day-to-day and Tucker's finally starting to play.
- 1:14:39He didn't play all week until yesterday.
- 1:14:42So I'm, I'm kind of hearing a little bit, but so let's on the
- 1:14:46flip side of that, let's talk about who's not hot this past
- 1:14:48week. So what I like to do with hot,
- 1:14:52when I make the hot list, I always like to put people that
- 1:14:54are hot and, and you know, regardless of owner percentage,
- 1:14:59when I put the cold list, I like to put owner percentage because
- 1:15:02I can sit there and say, well, this guy's, you know who, who's
- 1:15:08just like a really scrubby, I could put Sandy on this list
- 1:15:12every week almost, you know, his owner percentage is constantly
- 1:15:18going down. So I, I like to put people that
- 1:15:20are like 60 or, or 70% owned or at least on this list just to
- 1:15:25say, well, not everybody who is, you know, owned 100% is, is good
- 1:15:31every week. So for this week, and there's
- 1:15:35the list right there, I had Corey Seeger, he's 88.6% owned.
- 1:15:43Listen, he's played a full week for coming back from the IL.
- 1:15:47He looks lost. You know, .087, no home runs, no
- 1:15:50ribbies, no runs, no stolen bases, 11 strikeouts -7 points.
- 1:15:56And then, you know, on the flip side, you got Tiasco Hernandez,
- 1:15:59who is 97% owned, almost 98 and he hits 074, no homers, A ribby
- 1:16:06four runs, 9 strikeouts, and he gave you 0 points on a couple
- 1:16:11honorable mentions. You know, Christian Walker who
- 1:16:14looks like he might be coming out of it a little bit.
- 1:16:17He had RBI single today at a home run a couple of days ago.
- 1:16:21Who knows, maybe a big second-half is in store, right.
- 1:16:25He gave you 0 points and Chrome worth gave you a 2.
- 1:16:29So not the best and and I, like I said, like T Oscar Hernandez
- 1:16:33is the guy who's 9798% owned. He's made the hot list.
- 1:16:37He scored over 40 points in a week and then, you know, now he
- 1:16:41comes and gives you 0 and he plays in the Dodgers lineup,
- 1:16:43which kind of gives you no excuse not to score points in
- 1:16:46fantasy because it's such a good lineup.
- 1:16:49So it's it's just interesting to see him in particular from week
- 1:16:54in and week out. Yeah, I think both those guys,
- 1:16:58really, if you're going into a draft, you should expect the
- 1:17:00strikeouts to come anyway. Both these guys strike out a ton
- 1:17:03throughout the season, but they mask it a little bit with the
- 1:17:06power they got the average that they usually keep up with,
- 1:17:09right. And the Oscar, we saw that last
- 1:17:11year with him because he was a strikeout per game guy.
- 1:17:13I think he had about 170 strikeouts or so.
- 1:17:17So you know, you got to expect these stretches sometimes with
- 1:17:20some of these guys that you do draft knowing, you know, yes, I
- 1:17:23might get to, you know, X amount of points at the end of the
- 1:17:26year, but I know there's going to be definitely some weeks
- 1:17:28where I'm going to have some very big walls.
- 1:17:32But I think it's more about Corey Seeger than about Tiasca
- 1:17:35Hernandez when it comes to that happening more consistently.
- 1:17:39Cause the Oscar's been pretty decent.
- 1:17:40I think he's been all right, you know, for the Dodgers obviously
- 1:17:43play for a great lineup and he's going to be producing.
- 1:17:46He's going to have more opportunities than most people.
- 1:17:48So he's going to be just fine with himself.
- 1:17:50But now it's about Corey Seeger because now I'm getting a little
- 1:17:53concerned with Corey Seeger, the way he's been producing the last
- 1:17:56few years at this point and the strikeout clip that he's been
- 1:17:59having. I feel like ever since that
- 1:18:01World Series went, I think that was back in 22 or so, 23 it was,
- 1:18:06it was relatively recent and he, you know, MVP and everything,
- 1:18:09but I feel like he just never really put it back together ever
- 1:18:11since that point. And it's just, you know,
- 1:18:14continuing right now. I mean, 11 strikeouts in one
- 1:18:17week, that's over a strikeout per game in a week.
- 1:18:19That's a lot of strikeouts, you know, and you're not even
- 1:18:21hitting for an average. You got no RBIs, you got no
- 1:18:23runs, you're not even getting on base.
- 1:18:25You got what, maybe one hit this week with the 87 average, you
- 1:18:29know, and you probably got stranded.
- 1:18:31So it's just, it's just, you know, tough to see because
- 1:18:34again, people put name draft capital and name a lot of times.
- 1:18:38And Corey Seeger's definitely a name.
- 1:18:41People thought he was going to have a bounce back potentially
- 1:18:43this year. There's more higher hopes I
- 1:18:45think in in Texas this year than what's happening so far.
- 1:18:49So very disappointing. And I wouldn't be surprised if
- 1:18:53we saw Corey Seeger on this list again soon.
- 1:18:56Well, if he goes under 70% I don't know if I bother putting
- 1:19:00him on here again. He's got, he's got some, he's
- 1:19:03got some room, He's got some room there.
- 1:19:05He. Does.
- 1:19:06And then on the flip side of that, I can just tell you that
- 1:19:10Jesus Lozardo was a guy I know we were never sold on anyways.
- 1:19:13We knew he was going to fall back down to earth.
- 1:19:15Honestly, I didn't think he was going to be as hard.
- 1:19:19These numbers are are records and who's not?
- 1:19:24I've never seen anybody give you -21 points in an entire week.
- 1:19:30Listen to this. So he went O and 2/5 and 2/3 and
- 1:19:34he's pitched 6 strikeouts, five walks, 20 earned 20.
- 1:19:40I don't understand. He gives up 12 against the
- 1:19:43Brewers at home. Why not pull him after he gives
- 1:19:45up six? Why do you keep him out there?
- 1:19:49Then he, he gives up 8 in Toronto, 20 runs -20 points.
- 1:19:55I mean that is I've never seen that.
- 1:19:57And then Brandon Fatt, I mean 68% owned O and one.
- 1:20:02Now here's a kicker. He went O and one and two starts
- 1:20:04and went 3 innings and two starts, 2 strikeouts.
- 1:20:09So gave up 13 and -14 1/2 points.
- 1:20:14He gave up five runs and got a no decision against Atlanta.
- 1:20:18And then he gave up eight runs and didn't even record an out.
- 1:20:21With the Nationals, so those are some record-breaking who's not
- 1:20:27pitchers I've seen on this in in the last two years we've done
- 1:20:30this. And then on the flip side of
- 1:20:32that, little shout out to Sean Yamamoto gave you -5 and Spencer
- 1:20:39Strider gave you -3 and. 1/2 Spotty.
- 1:20:46Oh man. Yeah, I'll tell you.
- 1:20:48I mean, we we always say it though, when you're when you're
- 1:20:52getting pictures that are just coming back from injury, like
- 1:20:54Strider, like Bieber will be, like Woodruff will be.
- 1:20:58I wouldn't put too much stock in the first year now.
- 1:21:01I mean, we're seeing it with Sandy, you know, so the Spencer
- 1:21:06thing, you know, yeah, you got them late.
- 1:21:08Yeah. It's it's cool to have any place
- 1:21:10for a decent offense, but just I, I mean, expect more, more
- 1:21:15heartache in for this year. I mean, he's it's just how it
- 1:21:19is. He's not going to be the strider
- 1:21:20from two years ago. He might be next year.
- 1:21:23You know, I think maybe give him give him some time, get the rust
- 1:21:26off. But I just, I just don't, I
- 1:21:29don't put stock into, you know, drafting players early or, you
- 1:21:35know, I'm sure some people reached for him and, you know,
- 1:21:38expecting him to be the guy that from two years ago.
- 1:21:43Yeah, that's fair. I think we're seeing it now with
- 1:21:46George Kirby too. You know, he's been kind of
- 1:21:48struggling out there. He went out in his last start.
- 1:21:50He you could put him on the hit Hurt Locker too.
- 1:21:52He got hit in the jar there. Luckily his hand came up a
- 1:21:54little beforehand, but but even before that, he wasn't even
- 1:21:57pitching that well. I think he already gave up eight
- 1:21:59hits in in five innings or 4 innings or so.
- 1:22:01So he's really still trying to put it together.
- 1:22:04And like you said, they could still be a thing next year.
- 1:22:06100%. These guys are young, they're
- 1:22:08obviously very talented. But yeah, you have to use
- 1:22:11Carson. I think moving forward with just
- 1:22:13about any injured pitcher that's coming back at any point.
- 1:22:17There's just a laundry list. There's here guys that are
- 1:22:20coming back from injuries that are struggling to find their
- 1:22:24their way back to their their form.
- 1:22:27But let's go back to the list here real quick.
- 1:22:29Brandon Fiat, if you're a Brandon Fiat guy, you got to you
- 1:22:33got to wave the white flag, right?
- 1:22:36You know, last year he was supposed to be a breakout guy.
- 1:22:38This year he was supposed to be a breakout guy.
- 1:22:40Yes, we know he strikes out a lot of batters, but I think it's
- 1:22:44comfortably to say now we can put him in the Reed Detmer
- 1:22:46category. Same exact type of person,
- 1:22:49except from the left side. He can pitch really well when
- 1:22:52he's and when he's on. You know, we saw one star we
- 1:22:55were in at Fenway. He pitched that game against the
- 1:22:59Red Sox, that Otani game that we went to.
- 1:23:03And then that was the probably the one of his best games of his
- 1:23:06career, to be honest, if he put, you know, 10 games together.
- 1:23:09But he's been terrible though. And now he's working out a
- 1:23:12bullpen. He's up and down with AAA.
- 1:23:14And and right now Brandon Fiat, you know, he's kind of on that
- 1:23:17same exact projectile where when he gets whacked, he gets whacked
- 1:23:21really, really bad. So it's really hard to trust
- 1:23:24them in pretty much any format. So 68% owned right now, he's
- 1:23:27definitely going to be going down.
- 1:23:29And you know, he's ruthless harder.
- 1:23:31He knew this riot had to end eventually.
- 1:23:33You knew it had to end. It just wasn't going to be
- 1:23:36pretty. And I think you mentioned too, I
- 1:23:38got a theory. You said they left them out
- 1:23:41there, right? You know, that's like, why don't
- 1:23:42you just pull the guy already, right?
- 1:23:44I don't know if the manager likes them too much, to be
- 1:23:46honest. I remember during spring
- 1:23:48training, he was doing a an interview in the dugout.
- 1:23:51The manager was with the booth and Rosado was pitching.
- 1:23:54He gave a back-to-back to back home runs.
- 1:23:56And I remember that guy's face just melting on live TV just
- 1:24:00being like, this is my guy. This is the guy that we went out
- 1:24:02and traded for and he's going to be part of our rotation moving
- 1:24:05forward. And so I think he's kind of got
- 1:24:08it out for Losoto. I don't know that I'm just
- 1:24:10speculating. I'm just joking, you know?
- 1:24:12Like I never, I can't remember the last time I saw a pitcher
- 1:24:15give up like, you know, stay out a starting pitcher.
- 1:24:17I mean, maybe bullpen's a little different.
- 1:24:20Especially if you're like in a clean up, you know, if you're
- 1:24:23down twenty runs and you get somebody up there, you'll let
- 1:24:25them just get whacked around at that point because you lost.
- 1:24:28But if you're in the first or second inning and you it's still
- 1:24:31so early and you already give up five or six runs and you know
- 1:24:35your guy doesn't have it, why keep them out there and give up
- 1:24:391212 runs? I've just seen a starting
- 1:24:44pitcher stay in a game and give up 12 runs that early.
- 1:24:48You know, you pull them after six, you're like, OK, you know
- 1:24:50what, it's the second inning. We're down 6.
- 1:24:52But we still have Philly's got a good offense.
- 1:24:55We're down 6. We can we can start chipping
- 1:24:58away. It's not over yet.
- 1:24:59I mean, we all saw last night what what happened, what
- 1:25:02happened with the D backs? They came back.
- 1:25:05What did they do? They scored eight runs, right?
- 1:25:07They won the game and the 9th. Who would have thought that
- 1:25:10would happen, right? So it can't happen in baseball
- 1:25:15again. Why not take them out?
- 1:25:1812 same thing Brandon Fiat eight runs didn't get an out.
- 1:25:24If you're giving up, if you give up four and you don't get an out
- 1:25:27or five I you pull, you pull, you don't let him go. 8 and the
- 1:25:31bottom of the first with no outs you're you're pretty much just
- 1:25:35giving up the game before it even starts.
- 1:25:38Yeah, I, I know, like, I don't know if it's old school baseball
- 1:25:41you would call it or not, but it's like I remember, you know,
- 1:25:43there are a point of times where like if you start getting
- 1:25:45whacked like that, you know, you give up like 4 and runs in the
- 1:25:48first inning and you know, you got a pitching bad visit that
- 1:25:51comes out. Sometimes that pitching coach is
- 1:25:54just going to tell you straight up, hey, there's no one coming
- 1:25:57to save you here. Like this is the and and you're
- 1:26:00going to have to ride this like we we got, you know, only two
- 1:26:02guys available and two of them will only one inning guys.
- 1:26:06So like you're going to have to like suck this up so we can
- 1:26:08figure something out as you go here.
- 1:26:11It's a terrible situation to be in.
- 1:26:13It's and it's a horrible feeling.
- 1:26:15Probably, you know, like we said, Walkabila tonight, 7
- 1:26:18earned runs. You know that's that's bad too.
- 1:26:21He got it out. He got six, he got 6 acts.
- 1:26:24He was, I guess that's respectable, I guess, you know,
- 1:26:28and that and compared to these guys, you know, but but it it's,
- 1:26:32it's a city feeling and it's it's unfortunate, unfortunate,
- 1:26:35you know, it's just what it is. So, yeah, I'm not surprised to
- 1:26:38see both these guys on this list, to be honest with you.
- 1:26:40Doug No. No, All right, so the that's our
- 1:26:45that our hottest and coldest interest for this week in the
- 1:26:47world of fantasy. So with that, we live in the.
- 1:26:53Theater. Honestly, it's.
- 1:26:54A real deal. All right, we did have so last
- 1:26:58week we I, I mean, we had talked about maybe mentioning the idea
- 1:27:02of selling high on junior Caminero.
- 1:27:05He still had a really good week. He had a home run yesterday.
- 1:27:08He's still pitting pretty good 37 points last week.
- 1:27:12You know, again, I I, I, like I said, I only had him on there
- 1:27:15because you drafted him late. You draft him as a bench player,
- 1:27:18you could probably get top notch talent for him at this point,
- 1:27:21right? And you could get a a really
- 1:27:23good picture. You know, I mean, if you're
- 1:27:25talking about trading Bryce Harper for hunter green, what
- 1:27:28could you get for junior? I mean, junior's been much
- 1:27:31better. He might even be keeper material
- 1:27:34at if he keeps it up. He's so young.
- 1:27:37We did say sell high and say a Suzuki, he only gave you 10
- 1:27:40points last week, gave you like 30 points, 30 plus points the
- 1:27:43week before. That's why he said sell high on
- 1:27:44him. So we kind of call it that one.
- 1:27:46Jack Flaherty riding, still riding good, got the win, 20
- 1:27:50points, right. But I still think like, he's so
- 1:27:53inconsistent. Sell him.
- 1:27:56Sell him if you can. And then on the flip side of
- 1:27:58that, we had some by lows. So Stephen Kwan didn't really
- 1:28:01give you a good Week 2 weeks ago.
- 1:28:03Well, still, he gave you 18 points last week, kind of
- 1:28:06stepping it up, coming together, hit a home run, right?
- 1:28:10Kendall Marte, who did not have a great week, you know, the week
- 1:28:14before, 34 points this week, I think he's looking to almost
- 1:28:18match that at that point. And he had a home run today.
- 1:28:21And George Kirby, I, I'd still buy low on him, you know -1
- 1:28:25point. But I, I think he's a quality
- 1:28:28pitcher, to be honest with you. But it'll be interesting to see
- 1:28:32what happens with this, you know, after getting hit.
- 1:28:35And it's tough to see, you know, pitchers sometimes don't come
- 1:28:39back. Takes him a little while to get
- 1:28:42back in the groove is what I'm trying to say.
- 1:28:44Yeah, he's a long term investment.
- 1:28:46That's that's a long term investment that's nothing like
- 1:28:48you. You expect anything from him
- 1:28:50right now, even though you might have kept them and and went
- 1:28:53through the injury process with them and you want results right
- 1:28:56away. It's a long term hold here.
- 1:28:59It's it's a long game. So yeah, just be patient with
- 1:29:02Kirby on him. I got him in a week.
- 1:29:04I'm super stoked to have him. I did throw him out there this
- 1:29:07week because he did have what, 3, three starts under his belt.
- 1:29:10So maybe I thought the 4th would be a little bit better.
- 1:29:13Still not quite there yet. So I'm going to re evaluate.
- 1:29:15We're going to see how he feels after that, that injury there.
- 1:29:18But yeah, all these other guys though that you just mentioned,
- 1:29:21Jack Blairty, ride that hot hand if you can still that's yeah,
- 1:29:25definitely still probably going to sell high.
- 1:29:27You can still probably play them on this list if you wanted to.
- 1:29:29You can repeat on that. Suzuki, yeah, not so great. 10
- 1:29:34points. Yeah, I mean, yeah, that's going
- 1:29:36to happen. And then junior, yeah, very
- 1:29:38young, very talented former top prospect, hoping for the best
- 1:29:43for him. Hopefully he keeps it up.
- 1:29:46What is he now like a top five third baseman almost there at
- 1:29:49this point. He's been he's been on a really
- 1:29:51bad hand right now. So you can probably still get
- 1:29:54your hands on him. You're going to have to pay a
- 1:29:55little bit more at this point. It's because if you held on to
- 1:29:58him at this point, now you're reaping the benefits.
- 1:30:00So it's going to probably take a little bit more to RIP him out
- 1:30:03of your hands. So make sure you don't get stood
- 1:30:07up on him, get a deal, don't frustrate him because you can.
- 1:30:10Right? That's what we always say.
- 1:30:14But yeah, Kendall Marte stud, we we knew he was probably going to
- 1:30:17have a bounce back sooner than later.
- 1:30:19We talked about the injuries that he goes through, you know,
- 1:30:21time to time, it does get frustrating.
- 1:30:23But now last week, this week, he's just been crushing it.
- 1:30:27So now you know what you kind of get with them when he's not
- 1:30:30injured. But yeah, Stephen Quan, great,
- 1:30:33That's great. That's Stephen.
- 1:30:34Quan's always going to do good. He's like an Arias on steroids
- 1:30:37to me. I think a level up on him, but
- 1:30:40he's good. Yeah, unfortunately I have my
- 1:30:43team set out today. You didn't play, so I don't.
- 1:30:48Yeah, I don't. There's no coming back.
- 1:30:50Yeah, I got to make an offer for him.
- 1:30:52I got to make you an offer for for Stephen Kwan.
- 1:30:55I got one for woo. Yeah, I was going to ask you
- 1:30:59about that. What was?
- 1:31:01Oh, let's run through this because I did want to tell you,
- 1:31:04I did send Tim that that Wu and and Perez for Gunner Henderson
- 1:31:11and he declined it. And I'm like, of course, Gunner
- 1:31:14and then Perez, his two home runs yesterday.
- 1:31:17I'm like, dude, I mean, obviously I know Gunner
- 1:31:20Henderson is Gunner Anderson, but you got to look at the
- 1:31:22numbers, man. Like that is a fair trade.
- 1:31:25I mean, I don't know. Yeah, we'll go back to it.
- 1:31:30Yeah. So here's let's start out we
- 1:31:33start we're going to start out with the sell highs for this
- 1:31:35week. Here's my this is a guy that I
- 1:31:39mean you own you can touch base on this as well.
- 1:31:42Angels outfielder DH Mike trap great week, right?
- 1:31:463.8 to start 23 points, 476 one home run only two strikeouts
- 1:31:51pretty good. I think this is a great
- 1:31:53opportunity to capitalize on that week, right?
- 1:31:55I mean, this was a guy who drafted pretty later compared to
- 1:31:58years past because you know, he's going to get a couple IL
- 1:32:02stints and nothing's going to tell me he probably isn't going
- 1:32:04to get any more. He'll probably get a couple more
- 1:32:06toward the end of the year, but I mean, still fetch you
- 1:32:09something pretty decent. I just don't expect the world
- 1:32:12like you have in years past when you've tried to trade for him.
- 1:32:16He's still a name and there is value to that.
- 1:32:18But obviously expectations, realistic expectations need to
- 1:32:23be had. Let's not forget he's only
- 1:32:25hitting 228 on the year. His point total for the year is
- 1:32:29only 84, so he scored more points, more than 1/4 of his
- 1:32:33points this past week. And he's got 38 strikeouts in 35
- 1:32:37games. So he's still striking out.
- 1:32:39The strikeouts are there. He's older now, obviously not
- 1:32:42crazy old because he's been in the league for so long.
- 1:32:45But yeah, I mean, if you if you had them, you held them.
- 1:32:49I mean, he's been on the IL twice.
- 1:32:52He'll probably be on the IL three more times by the end of
- 1:32:54the year. SO5 at least.
- 1:32:57Why not try to capitalize on on the name on the week he's having
- 1:33:01and try to, you know, get a upgrade on a position you
- 1:33:06probably might need? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:33:11I mean, it's, it's tough because like sometimes if you're a Mike
- 1:33:13Trout guy, you're just a Mike Trout guy.
- 1:33:15Like it's, you know, you're waiting for the old Mike Trout
- 1:33:18to come back and some people just can't let go of that.
- 1:33:22I I sometimes become one of those guys.
- 1:33:24I'm not going to lie to you because I just want him to be so
- 1:33:26good and successful. It blinds me a little bit.
- 1:33:29But yeah, this is a really good time to sell high on them just
- 1:33:32because, like you said, Doc, the strikeouts are still there.
- 1:33:35He strikes out a ton and he doesn't get on base as much as
- 1:33:38he used to. I mean, the power is absolutely,
- 1:33:40definitely there, but it's just that the wear and tear in the
- 1:33:44body just don't know if he's going to stay on the field long
- 1:33:46enough. It's just there's been so many
- 1:33:49injuries in the past few years. It's really tough to just trust
- 1:33:52a guy like that to to play in week in, week out and then also
- 1:33:55produce for yourself, like you said about the strikeout.
- 1:33:58So it's really tough. So you got to capitalize while
- 1:34:01you can at times. This is a really good time.
- 1:34:03Almost batting 500 this week, just crushing it.
- 1:34:06What is that 3.8 of start that I just saw there?
- 1:34:08Yeah, that's that's very, very good.
- 1:34:10So I mean, this is the time to do it.
- 1:34:13There's always a Trout guy in your league, always.
- 1:34:15There's never not right. So if they have a chance to get
- 1:34:19them, whatever value, you know, five years ago at a peak value
- 1:34:23or today where he's just producing and you know, you
- 1:34:27might get maybe 3 points out of them per game for the week, that
- 1:34:30would be a really good week for him.
- 1:34:32But right now he's really averaging what, maybe the 2.22
- 1:34:35point one. Again, Strikeouts has been
- 1:34:38killing them, not getting on base and just not filling up the
- 1:34:41box. Let's just call for what it is.
- 1:34:44So yeah, this is a really good so high.
- 1:34:46I don't know what you can get for him.
- 1:34:48This is a tough kind of guy to the pinpoint, you know, putting
- 1:34:53him in a category of I always like to start with Brandon Wu as
- 1:34:57a good like. I was I was going to say I think
- 1:35:00Wu might be an overpay. It is an overpay.
- 1:35:03Yeah. He's the, he's the benchmark.
- 1:35:04You know, I put him as like, you know, above or below and it's a
- 1:35:08below the wound line. Let's call it.
- 1:35:10Let's call it wound line wound. Line.
- 1:35:14So, yeah, I, I think, you know, in saying that, yeah, you're not
- 1:35:18going to get a ton for trial. So if it's something, it's
- 1:35:20probably just because you need a position or you're trying to
- 1:35:23booster a position or something like that.
- 1:35:27Yeah, yeah, I agree. But like you said, I mean
- 1:35:29there's a, he could be a Trout guy and maybe he's going to give
- 1:35:32you more than what you know somebody else would give you in
- 1:35:35another league. So all right, Next up on the
- 1:35:39sell high here he is A's outfield Lawrence Butler.
- 1:35:42He is 72.6% owned. He had a monster week, 4.9
- 1:35:46points a start, 34 points total hit you four O 7 give you a one
- 1:35:50run, 4 ribbies, 11 runs, two stolen bases, 9 strikeouts, a
- 1:35:55lot of strikeouts. He was drafted in the 12th round
- 1:35:58in our ESPN league. He's been pretty inconsistent,
- 1:36:03right? I think he's only hitting 267 on
- 1:36:05the year. So it's good to see him have a
- 1:36:07great week like this. But similar to trout 69
- 1:36:12strikeouts in 60 games, a lot of strikeouts, I think and I mean I
- 1:36:18feel like I would understand if you want to hold on to him
- 1:36:20because of the potentials there like he steals bases.
- 1:36:24You can say that Trout doesn't anymore really.
- 1:36:26So he I don't know. I don't know who I'd rather
- 1:36:30have. I still might want to have Trout
- 1:36:31just because it's Trout over Butler.
- 1:36:35But if they're close, I will say that.
- 1:36:36I mean, the numbers are very similar with strikeouts and
- 1:36:38whatnot. But so I'd understand if you
- 1:36:41want to hold on to him. But I like consistency.
- 1:36:43So I would probably move. I think he's a great add in if
- 1:36:47you want to do a 2 for one, he would definitely sweeten a pot.
- 1:36:50You know, you probably drafted him as your third or fourth
- 1:36:52outfielder. So, you know, unless you were
- 1:36:55really big on him from last year and thought he was going to take
- 1:36:58a big step forward, but I don't, I mean, he, he hasn't yet, but
- 1:37:03you know, it's, it's still got more than halfway of more than
- 1:37:07half of the year. You know it's it is good to see
- 1:37:09him hit 400 / / 400 in a week. Yeah, I mean, that's why they
- 1:37:14signed that extension with them and they they locked him up for
- 1:37:17a bit and they saw the potential in Omen.
- 1:37:19Like you said, he stealed bases and like I said, you know, Mike
- 1:37:22Trout guys and Mike Trout guys. Honestly, Doug, we don't talk
- 1:37:25about him much, but I'm a Butler guy, I'm a big Lawrence Bartler
- 1:37:29guy. I like his team.
- 1:37:31But what I like most importantly is where he hits in that lineup
- 1:37:34and who hits behind them. Because right now he's leading
- 1:37:37off in that lineup for the most part.
- 1:37:39And then right behind him now they got Jacob Wilson, who is
- 1:37:41the the most contact hitter ever in the league at this point so
- 1:37:45far in his rookie season, doesn't strike out, doesn't
- 1:37:48walk. You just know he's going to get
- 1:37:49the ball on the bat or the bat on the ball.
- 1:37:51Excuse me? And then you got Brent Roker,
- 1:37:52who can now the past week or so is starting to source some
- 1:37:56light. And now if he can start getting
- 1:37:59that long ball going and it's going to be a really good flow
- 1:38:03here. We're not even talking about
- 1:38:05some of the younger other guys that they have on their team too
- 1:38:08that are still working their way in, you know, on an everyday
- 1:38:12aspect. Who's that first baseman that
- 1:38:14came out so hot for the A's in April?
- 1:38:17I forget his name off the bat. We talked about so many names.
- 1:38:20I just thought my tip in my butt, you know, like you said
- 1:38:24Tyler Soderquist earlier, you know, so there's a lot of
- 1:38:26potential in that lineup. But I like where he hits in the
- 1:38:29lineup. So I got him in the league.
- 1:38:31I'm holding. I'm excited about it.
- 1:38:34You know, I think Rob has him in our league.
- 1:38:36I think I might make an offer for him.
- 1:38:37I could use another outfielder and I would love to have Butler
- 1:38:41as like a #3 outfielder. I think that's absolutely right.
- 1:38:43You probably draft him as your number 3 #4 maybe a a low end #2
- 1:38:49you know, depending on what you valued him.
- 1:38:51Like you said last year because of his performance.
- 1:38:55I did value him. Like you said, I'm one of those
- 1:38:57guys that you just described and I was definitely about him.
- 1:39:01I thought he had so much potential and I think he still
- 1:39:03does. I mean, this could be the
- 1:39:05beginning of something for all we know.
- 1:39:07So that's why I'm a whole, that's why I'm thinking, you
- 1:39:09know, if we saw it last year, now you got that team really
- 1:39:12going and putting things together.
- 1:39:13Like I said, AL West or whatever, the whole AL, they're
- 1:39:17one of the most scoring teams in the whole American League.
- 1:39:21Just shocking. And it's because of those three
- 1:39:23guys primarily on the top of that line up right now.
- 1:39:27And he's part of it. So yeah, I'm, I'm riding, I'm
- 1:39:29riding Butler. It's funny you said Brett
- 1:39:32Brooker because I was going to list them on here, too.
- 1:39:35But that's how it is though, right?
- 1:39:37It's like, OK, if you're hot, pretty much your team's hot
- 1:39:40because they're all doing good. And they did.
- 1:39:42They scored like 12 runs a couple days ago.
- 1:39:44So. And I think Brett Brooker had a
- 1:39:46great game. I know.
- 1:39:47I think he had a basic clear double at that point.
- 1:39:50So, yeah, I mean, you could go either way.
- 1:39:52It's a fun team. It's just a very inconsistent
- 1:39:55team. Very a lot of strikeouts, a lot
- 1:39:58of strikeouts with that team. But I I do like Butler, yeah.
- 1:40:03I mean, if you get them, at least it gives you some
- 1:40:05flexibility if you want to end up moving Trout for somebody
- 1:40:07else, that's all. Exactly, Yeah.
- 1:40:11All right. And then last but not least on
- 1:40:13this sell high segment is I'm going to do pitching and we
- 1:40:16already kind of talked about this guy, but I do want to go
- 1:40:18over his numbers real quick and it's it's a great pitcher.
- 1:40:22He kind of reminds me of my neighbor, which just like him a
- 1:40:27little bit, right, Doesn't he? So it's a Baltimore study
- 1:40:33pitcher Zach Affleck. He's 36.4% owned.
- 1:40:36Again, great week, right? Two and O, 13 innings, 13
- 1:40:39strikeouts, one walk, 346 points.
- 1:40:43But, you know, don't, don't let the numbers fool you.
- 1:40:45I mean, he's beating the teams he should beat.
- 1:40:48His five wins are from the White Sox, the Angels, the Blue Jays,
- 1:40:51who were struggling early in the year.
- 1:40:53Seattle and Arizona was also struggling at some points
- 1:40:58because we had talked about their line up and it's it's just
- 1:41:01weird that line up. They produce one one day and
- 1:41:03then they don't the next. But look at the player, the
- 1:41:08teams that are good that they played right?
- 1:41:09They played Boston twice. He's only one.
- 1:41:12He lost to the Nationals when the Nationals were hot a month
- 1:41:15ago. So I'm not saying he's he's a
- 1:41:17horrible pitcher. I'm just saying for someone that
- 1:41:19you drafted, and I mean, in our league, 23rd round, like that's
- 1:41:22quality in the 23rd round. Like these are the guys that are
- 1:41:25winning leagues when they're going.
- 1:41:28So I think you could sell him high.
- 1:41:31I mean, yeah, his ERA is a force, a full 4 for the year.
- 1:41:34But that's that's excellent. It's all his ERA is always going
- 1:41:37to be low fours, you know, high threes.
- 1:41:41But he'll go on those tiers. You know, I mean, he's averaging
- 1:41:4411.9 a start, which is really good for a starting pitcher,
- 1:41:48right. And if Baltimore's offense wakes
- 1:41:50up, I mean, you have a case to make that, hey, this might this
- 1:41:53might help him out and give him a couple more wins where he
- 1:41:56might have lost. So, you know, I think owners
- 1:42:00will probably sell, you know, and I think buyers, it's a great
- 1:42:03opportunity for both. Like I can understand why you
- 1:42:06would say, OK, well, I know in the past he's going on these
- 1:42:09tears and he he can go like 5 and O right.
- 1:42:13And then when is 5 next six or seven starts.
- 1:42:15And but then he'll just clunk. And I think that's The thing is
- 1:42:21if you're an owner, chances are you've probably owned it before
- 1:42:24because nobody's nobody just drafts to Zach Eflin.
- 1:42:28Like you got to like have him on your team before to he's one of
- 1:42:32those guys that like you respect more when you own them, I guess.
- 1:42:37Yeah, yeah, I would just say like if I owned him, I'd say,
- 1:42:40well, you know, I guess he's a good two for one or something.
- 1:42:43He's him and you know, he's a good Chuck Chuck in type player.
- 1:42:45Like he'll sweeten a deal for sure.
- 1:42:48So it I could see moving on from him.
- 1:42:52Yeah, dude, yeah. That was one of my first points
- 1:42:54there as a deal sweetener. He's just a a really good guy
- 1:42:57just to be like, hey, you know, if you want that extra debt
- 1:42:59picture, this is my guy that I'm going to throw in here.
- 1:43:02But I'm going to give you another reason why you probably
- 1:43:04maybe should put a pulse on this guy because he's on a one year
- 1:43:08deal, right? He plays for a really poor
- 1:43:11baseball team. If he can start performing like
- 1:43:14he has been, that's going to be attractive to teams during the
- 1:43:16deadline, I feel. And right now, he's got an $18
- 1:43:20million contract. By the time he gets the deal
- 1:43:23done, you know, he'll be halfway through that probably and then
- 1:43:26some. And then if he gets traded, you
- 1:43:29know, Baltimore might even eat some of the money.
- 1:43:31So he almost becomes, to me, an ideal trade candidate if you're
- 1:43:34trying to build up a pitching depth rotation down the stretch.
- 1:43:38You know, if you need an innings eater guy, this guy can go 5
- 1:43:40innings. I don't know how he's going to
- 1:43:42do sometimes. You know, we saw the best and
- 1:43:44worst of them at times. But he can eat innings, though,
- 1:43:47and that's what you need down the stretch.
- 1:43:48So that could be really good for you if he did buy him now and
- 1:43:53all of a sudden he pitches for a contending playoff team.
- 1:43:57And now you're, you know, got a guy that's playing for something
- 1:44:00and maybe gives you more value and maybe even more thought to
- 1:44:03put him into that rotation for that week or that day in your
- 1:44:06daily week. So there's there's a lot of
- 1:44:08opportunity. I think with Zac Eflin.
- 1:44:11I know it sounds funny, but it's one of those guys that is
- 1:44:15another name that can definitely potentially get moved.
- 1:44:19Yeah, I like that. I do like that.
- 1:44:23All right, so you going from selling high to buy and low.
- 1:44:26And I will say first person on this list had a rough had a
- 1:44:31rough week for his standards of how he's been going.
- 1:44:33Did hit a home run about 10 minutes ago.
- 1:44:37And I actually the picture I have of him isn't even his
- 1:44:40current uniform. Yeah, I saw that.
- 1:44:42Yeah, I saw that. Yes, so he's Paul Goldsmith,
- 1:44:47Yankees first baseman, 808081 percent owned in Leeds, which is
- 1:44:51very wild considering first base is really a tough consistent.
- 1:44:56Yeah, I mean, look at Paul. I mean, Pete Alonso for
- 1:44:58instance. You know, one week, five home
- 1:45:00runs, one week, you know, 5 strikeouts and nothing else.
- 1:45:04Had a all right kind of tough week, you know, hit 095 but gave
- 1:45:08you a home run, gave you a ribby, gave you a run scored so
- 1:45:12it was a solo shot, gave you a stolen base on top of that,
- 1:45:15struck out five times but gave you 5 points.
- 1:45:20I think he's having a great year, although I think his
- 1:45:23average will fall back down to earth.
- 1:45:25I mean it you've you've seen it steadily kind of decline over
- 1:45:27the last couple weeks. It was around 353, now it's kind
- 1:45:30of 33320. I think it'll start to go down a
- 1:45:33little bit, but you're seeing what happens when you leave a
- 1:45:38horrible Cardinals lineup for a stacked Yankees lineup, right?
- 1:45:42You see it all the time with people.
- 1:45:43He could have went to the Dodgers and he probably would
- 1:45:45have put up better numbers, right?
- 1:45:49He is cutting down on the strikeouts.
- 1:45:51Last year he struck out a ton. This year, I mean, he's got 40
- 1:45:53strikeouts in 61 games. That's pretty good.
- 1:45:56He's ranked 5th in first baseman.
- 1:45:58He's right behind Bryce Harper, Bryce Hopper, who was drafted in
- 1:46:03the first or second round as opposed to a goalie that was
- 1:46:06drafted in the 23rd round of our draft.
- 1:46:10So I think whoever took him, they took him as a bench, a
- 1:46:13backup player, hoping he'd turn it around, which he has.
- 1:46:16He's gotten colder lately, but I mean, that's expected after that
- 1:46:18great start. But I think because of slowing
- 1:46:22down, owners might be willing to part with him and they should be
- 1:46:25able to get, I mean, they'll be able to get a lot more for him I
- 1:46:29think than the 23rd round pick. I think they'll be able to get a
- 1:46:33a mid. You know, I want to say maybe
- 1:46:37eighth round pick for him or or 9th or 10th right around there.
- 1:46:40Maybe he is top five first baseman, right?
- 1:46:44And he hit home run today. And I could see I could also see
- 1:46:49somebody want to hold on to him because the line up is so good,
- 1:46:53but I could also see somebody move on from them.
- 1:46:55Like it can go either way, you know, first base, tough position
- 1:46:58to hold. I still think he's going to be
- 1:46:59producing. I don't think it's going to be,
- 1:47:01you know, 350 or whatever, but I think the home runs will will be
- 1:47:06consistent. I think you'll see maybe one
- 1:47:08year 2 there. He's not going to hit you 40
- 1:47:10home runs anymore, 35 plus, but he's going to hit him.
- 1:47:13I think he's going to be pretty solid, you know, cut down on the
- 1:47:16strikeouts and that's huge for a points league anyways.
- 1:47:18You know, I would definitely try to buy low on him if somebody's
- 1:47:22trying to sell him, but it's not really by and low because you
- 1:47:24already got him low. So you know what I mean?
- 1:47:27You're just by and low on a top five first baseman.
- 1:47:31Yeah, and I don't think he's going anywhere either.
- 1:47:33You know, unless something comes up, anything, I don't think he's
- 1:47:36going to, you know, go downhill where, you know, that average
- 1:47:39goes down to like sub 300 and he goes on the stretch of bat and
- 1:47:432:20 and this and that. That's just not the player he
- 1:47:46traditionally is. You know, I think he had a
- 1:47:48really bad time in in Saint Louis toward the end.
- 1:47:51I think there were some things going on, maybe even behind the
- 1:47:53scenes. He's professional.
- 1:47:55You know, he's not going to say anything.
- 1:47:56I'm doing, you know, make attention to anything.
- 1:47:59So we don't know what was really going on back there.
- 1:48:01But now he's playing for a contending team.
- 1:48:03He really needs to, you know, win a series here.
- 1:48:05He really wants to win a ring. So he's in the best position of
- 1:48:08his career. I feel like at this point to do
- 1:48:10that and I hope he does too, because honestly, he's such a
- 1:48:15career decorated player that you know, he deserves a chance to at
- 1:48:19least have an opportunity to to play in a game and games like
- 1:48:23that. And he's doing everything he can
- 1:48:25too. Like you said, he just hit a
- 1:48:27awful Taco, right? He hit an opposite field home
- 1:48:29run. He's playing good baseball right
- 1:48:31now. He is a kind of a buy well after
- 1:48:34last week, but like you said, the long term at this point,
- 1:48:37he's been so good for the value that you got him at.
- 1:48:40Like that's the guy that you brag about having because of
- 1:48:43where you got him. Not so much.
- 1:48:44So you're going to, you know, buy low on him and and not get,
- 1:48:47you know, the return that you probably should get from him
- 1:48:50because like you said, top five first baseman, such a tough
- 1:48:53position to fill at times. So yeah, no, I'm I'm holding
- 1:48:56him. I'm holding Goldie.
- 1:48:57I got him in the league. I got him super late and he's
- 1:49:01been awesome. He's he's been a set and forget
- 1:49:03guy. Those are hard to find
- 1:49:04sometimes. Yeah, no, I, I have him in our
- 1:49:08league and I'm telling you, 23rd round, I mean, you can't really
- 1:49:11think of a better late pick for sure.
- 1:49:15Let's zoom by this guy real quick because we already did
- 1:49:17kind of touch base on him. I do have him up here just, I
- 1:49:21mean, I like, I do like Corey Seger.
- 1:49:23I mean, you know, 88% owned, still pretty solid.
- 1:49:27I'm a fan. I think he's, you know, he's
- 1:49:29still trying to get that rhythm. He's coming back from the IL.
- 1:49:32I know I, I, I had them on here before as a buy a low, I think,
- 1:49:37but since then you could probably buy them a lot lower.
- 1:49:39Believe it or not. I think the line up looks to be
- 1:49:42kind of turning that corner. We talked about Marcus Simeon
- 1:49:44hitting a couple home runs, which is great.
- 1:49:46So maybe, you know, they they make waves.
- 1:49:49I think they could make a, a pretty good case for second-half
- 1:49:53team push, you know, a, a good starting pitching core.
- 1:49:57You know, you still got any Duvaldi out there who's on the
- 1:50:00IL, but he'll be back. Jacob degrom's pitching pretty
- 1:50:03good. You know, I, I just feel that
- 1:50:05owners who've had Corey Seager since the start of the year are
- 1:50:08pretty much just fed up with him at this point.
- 1:50:11You know, he did go on a nice little run maybe a month ago.
- 1:50:15He ended up hitting like six home runs.
- 1:50:16Had a really good week that week.
- 1:50:18He had a, he had a really good week, But I mean, that came with
- 1:50:21multiple IL stints and then a bunch of strikeouts before and
- 1:50:25after. So I think the only reason
- 1:50:28owners wouldn't expect a decent offer for him is because they
- 1:50:32still think he's worth so much more when he just really isn't.
- 1:50:35You know, I offered somebody for him in our league and they
- 1:50:40declined and came back with Framer Valdez for him.
- 1:50:43This was about a week and a half ago.
- 1:50:44I'm not going to trade you Framer Valdez for a guy who's
- 1:50:47always on the IL and, you know, a little over 200.
- 1:50:51It's just not going to happen. You need to be realistic.
- 1:50:55Yeah, it, it's about today. It's not about what was or
- 1:50:58already drafted them or anything like that.
- 1:51:01You know, we're long past that at this point.
- 1:51:02It's it's who you have on your team, how they're producing at
- 1:51:05that time or period of time. And, and that's the end of the
- 1:51:08story. And I think sometimes people get
- 1:51:10caught up in that sometimes. We said earlier, we got our
- 1:51:13guys, Everyone's got guys that got that different values on
- 1:51:16them. You know, I, I was texting Tim
- 1:51:19earlier this week, you know, he asked Joe Ryan and you know, we
- 1:51:23had a a talk and it, it wasn't, wasn't, wasn't meant to be.
- 1:51:27It is what it is, you know, and I, I, I think I said to him,
- 1:51:30like, you know, where we, we value guys differently, you
- 1:51:34know, at times. So it happens.
- 1:51:37And, and Corey Seeger, you know, I made, I made my rant about
- 1:51:40Corey Seeger earlier, so I won't go too much into it again.
- 1:51:43But yeah, this is guy, you know, when he is on, he's on at the
- 1:51:48end of the year, how many points is going to score you?
- 1:51:51But my concern at this point is how many games is he going to
- 1:51:53play for you at this point? So it's if he's playing decent
- 1:51:58and you can, you know, sell him. I I guess I know this is a buy
- 1:52:03low segment, but since I'm just not a believer, it's more about
- 1:52:07what can I get for him more than what should I pay for him.
- 1:52:11And again, I'm in a whole different boat, right?
- 1:52:14It it's, you know, different strokes for different folks.
- 1:52:17As we say, it is what it is. You know, Corey, I'm just not a
- 1:52:20Corey secret guy at this point. He's burned me in the past.
- 1:52:22I think that's probably why as well.
- 1:52:25Just happens to be the the case with some guys at times.
- 1:52:28But but if you're a Corey secret guy, I mean, this is the time to
- 1:52:33do it. Coming back from an injury slow
- 1:52:35start. We talked about that last week,
- 1:52:36guys coming back from injuries, especially hitters.
- 1:52:40So this is a chance to to buy low on a guy that if you feel
- 1:52:43that he's valuable down the road, this is the time to do it.
- 1:52:47What are you giving up for Corey Seeger, man?
- 1:52:50I mean, that's that's more of a you question Doug, What would
- 1:52:52you give up for our Corey Seeger?
- 1:52:54Not much. Not much at all to be honest
- 1:52:57with you. Because if you're getting them,
- 1:52:59you need to have a backup. You know, if you then that's why
- 1:53:03Tommy Edmond does become so important, you know, because OK,
- 1:53:06now you, you get Corey Seeger. Let me throw Edmond in the
- 1:53:09outfield. Well, Seeger's hurt.
- 1:53:10Well, let me throw Edmond back at shortstop.
- 1:53:12So I mean, you're not going to trade a ton of ton for somebody
- 1:53:15who just hasn't done anything. Well, it's like Gunner
- 1:53:17Henderson, you know, why am I going to trade you more when
- 1:53:20I'm, I'm already giving you 2 guys, 1 averages, 2.6 and Wu who
- 1:53:26averages, you know, 12 points, top 25 pitcher for a guy who
- 1:53:31averages 1.8. You know, he's, I know that he
- 1:53:34was your keeper, but he's not good.
- 1:53:37He's not good right now. I'm not saying he might won't
- 1:53:40be, he might turn it around in second-half.
- 1:53:41I mean, they won eight in a row, six or seven in a row, something
- 1:53:44like that. You know, maybe they're finding
- 1:53:46their footing, but it's just realistically, I'm not going to
- 1:53:49give you any more than that. And I think he knows that
- 1:53:52because after he did, you know, he declined to trade, but he
- 1:53:55never sent a text and usually sends a text.
- 1:53:58You know, Tim, he'll be like, well, what do you want for?
- 1:54:00You know, what are you, what are you thinking?
- 1:54:02Give me this, give me that. I think he just knows.
- 1:54:04I think he just knows that he just has to stick this guy out
- 1:54:07because he's not going to get what he wants for.
- 1:54:09Him and you know what I respect it that's a fair hold it's a
- 1:54:12fair hold because when he is really good he when he's on he's
- 1:54:15he's obviously one of the best shortstops in the league.
- 1:54:18So it's a fair hold and and it's a fair assessment and if if
- 1:54:21that's the standpoint you want. But sometimes, you know, luckily
- 1:54:25in this league, it's it's not so much, you know, the short term,
- 1:54:30it's the long term. And I think long term he's going
- 1:54:32to be OK. You know, when it comes to some,
- 1:54:35some category. So he can wait on it, Henderson,
- 1:54:38and see if he can turn it around.
- 1:54:39And like you said, he has stake in him.
- 1:54:41So he's he's put value on him. He kept them.
- 1:54:44Obviously, we didn't think Baltimore was going to be this
- 1:54:47bad, but hey, it is what it is. It sucks, but you need sometimes
- 1:54:52to to shake it up. Right all right, so we only got
- 1:54:55really a couple minutes. So I'm going to dig right into
- 1:54:57this last guy starting pitcher Dylan sees 95% owned.
- 1:55:01I mean O and 290 innings pitched, 13 strikeouts, 6 earned
- 1:55:05gave you 1.6 points for the week.
- 1:55:08I just I feel bad for everybody who really thought this guy was
- 1:55:10a top five top ten pitcher. I know his numbers last year
- 1:55:14were just very overflated because of the no hitter he
- 1:55:16pitched. I mean, you're talking about
- 1:55:18another 5055 points that was added to his total, which is, I
- 1:55:21mean that's like 3 or 4 starts. You know, I think owners need to
- 1:55:27realize they're not getting the value they want for him in a
- 1:55:29trade. And I do like them.
- 1:55:31I love the K's. I think the K's make kind of
- 1:55:34wash out the losses he does get. So I understand that.
- 1:55:38But I don't think he should cost much.
- 1:55:40I know, like I said, you know, he's one of those guys you need
- 1:55:44to be realistic about. I think if you can get them and,
- 1:55:47and get him for a good deal, you make the push and do it.
- 1:55:50But again, like you just said, with Seeger at this point, I
- 1:55:53mean, not Seeger with Gunner Henderson, you just got to hold
- 1:55:56at this point because there's nothing, you know, you just, you
- 1:55:59just got to hold them because you're you've had them, you know
- 1:56:03what I mean? Yeah, this guy's up and down.
- 1:56:05We talked about dear and sees for, you know, a few weeks.
- 1:56:08I feel now we we like to touch base on him because he he could
- 1:56:11be up and down, but you know, it's about his, you know, strike
- 1:56:14zone, what he's throwing. But I mean, this guy, you know,
- 1:56:19you want on your roster for sure, 100%.
- 1:56:21So, I mean, right now, buy low fixer runs last week, not
- 1:56:25sweating it too much when he's when he's in command, he is he
- 1:56:29is sharp. So yeah, this is a great
- 1:56:31opportunity to buy him low. And honestly, he is above the
- 1:56:34the woo line on this one here. But you're going to have to at
- 1:56:38least give up a little something for a guy like this.
- 1:56:40So, you know, I take a position player for a decent pitcher.
- 1:56:44I think it's fair. All right, so right on time,
- 1:56:48man. So we had the the opportunity,
- 1:56:51we talked about that. We went around the league, we
- 1:56:53went over some IL updates, some IL stints, who's hot, who's not
- 1:56:58this week? And of course some good buy low
- 1:57:01sell high type candidates. We will not be here next week.
- 1:57:05I have my, my wife is doing a Miss Massachusetts pageant, so I
- 1:57:12will be there supporting her for, for, for the weekend,
- 1:57:16Friday, Saturday and hopefully Sunday.
- 1:57:18She makes it that far right. She will be Miss Foxborough.
- 1:57:21She is Miss Foxborough. I know.
- 1:57:23Who would have thought a slouch like me, right?
- 1:57:26So, so, yeah. So we we won't be back live next
- 1:57:30week, but the following week we'll be back bringing you some
- 1:57:33more updated information. Yeah, I mean, that's that's
- 1:57:37pretty much it. I know also Sean asked to be on
- 1:57:39the on the cast in around August, he said.
- 1:57:43So I told you we'll have we'll have to have you come in and
- 1:57:46then you can sit on the side of me once the back room's all
- 1:57:49finished up and we'll have Big Sean on here talking fantasy.
- 1:57:53That's. Going to be a must watch.
- 1:57:56All right, so for for Mikey V I'm Doug.
- 1:58:00It's a great another episode of Bourbon and Ball.
- 1:58:03It's yeah, it's almost 10:00. Finish your drink, head to bed.
