- 0:39Speaker 2: Bootleg CAV Show. We got a special guest in here,
- 0:41Speaker 2: my guy the now Grammy nominated Hey, Mega.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Ran, you gotta say the whole thing now, it's like
- 0:47Speaker 1: a trib call quest. You gotta say Grammy nominated artists,
- 0:50Speaker 1: Mega Ran.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Congratulations.
- 0:53Speaker 1: This has been a long time coming, man, We've been
- 0:54Speaker 1: talking about getting this going. Thank you for making it.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, so you're like for people who do
- 1:00Speaker 2: oh no, man, you have had a pretty crazy, like
- 1:02Speaker 2: you're og at this point, you've had a pretty crazy
- 1:05Speaker 2: independent hip hop career. I was trying to explain kind
- 1:08Speaker 2: of like your path to my boy Cook like underground rapper,
- 1:11Speaker 2: and then you kind of were you like the first
- 1:14Speaker 2: guy to do the kickstarter thing in hip hop. You
- 1:17Speaker 2: were one of them, one.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Of the first, one of the first. Yeah, kickstarters kind
- 1:21Speaker 1: of like what people are doing with even now, where
- 1:23Speaker 1: it's like, yo, get the people to fund your projects,
- 1:25Speaker 1: and so I think that in band camp and Patreon,
- 1:28Speaker 1: like we were doing that a decade ago, where you know,
- 1:31Speaker 1: like getting the people involved is the way kind of
- 1:34Speaker 1: to build something well.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And then like, I feel like you were so good
- 1:37Speaker 2: at like kind of carving out like this niche of
- 1:42Speaker 2: I don't know if it's game gaming bars, video game rap,
- 1:46Speaker 2: nerd core, nerd core is, no, that's what they call it.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I went and did some I was just doing what
- 1:51Speaker 1: I do and then people were like, that sounds like
- 1:53Speaker 1: nerd core, and I was like, what the heck is that,
- 1:54Speaker 1: And they're like, Oh, it's guys who talk about gaming
- 1:56Speaker 1: talk about programming. Talk about comic books whatever. And I
- 1:59Speaker 1: was like, I mean, Sean Price has been talking about comics,
- 2:02Speaker 1: you know the whole time I listened to them, you
- 2:04Speaker 1: know what I mean, Or Pete Rock and all these people,
- 2:06Speaker 1: and so it didn't seem like it was stretching much.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It was like I'm already doing this and so but
- 2:12Speaker 1: when you add an extra bit of it onto it,
- 2:15Speaker 1: like they say, it's it's a it's a sub genre.
- 2:18Speaker 1: You have to self identify to be a part of it.
- 2:20Speaker 1: You like, I'm nerdcore because Chops Gambino had a song
- 2:23Speaker 1: where he said like f nerdcore and people were like, yo,
- 2:26Speaker 1: we made it, Yo, we made it.
- 2:27Speaker 2: He acknowledged it.
- 2:28Speaker 1: He acknowledged acknowledged me, you know what I mean. So yeah,
- 2:32Speaker 1: it was basically just like geeks who rap, you know
- 2:34Speaker 1: what I mean? Or like if somebody said, you know how,
- 2:38Speaker 1: rappers are usually the coolest guy, you know what I mean.
- 2:40Speaker 1: You get a lot of rappers here. They probably come
- 2:42Speaker 1: in ten deep, big chains, like really, you know, they're left.
- 2:46Speaker 1: There is a lot of that, and so the guy
- 2:48Speaker 1: who does not look like the rapper, that's usually the
- 2:50Speaker 1: nerd core guy. You're like, yo, are you the team account, like,
- 2:53Speaker 1: are you the the I T guy? You know?
- 2:55Speaker 2: And it's like, nah, I do some raps.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And uh, basically the way a lot of rappers like
- 3:01Speaker 1: maybe idolize and personify drug dealers in situations and real
- 3:06Speaker 1: gangsters throughout their music. It's Goku, it's Megatron, it's you know, Deadpool,
- 3:12Speaker 1: it's you know, taking those characters in the same way
- 3:15Speaker 1: and being like what if they could spit?
- 3:16Speaker 2: You know, does the wrestling aspect like lead in to
- 3:20Speaker 2: the to the nerd core.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I think it's all hand in hand like we see
- 3:23Speaker 1: it today. Like I say, wrestling is the best comic
- 3:25Speaker 1: book around. It's like a live action comic book. So
- 3:28Speaker 1: it's basically cutting promos Rick Flair, you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 1: that's what rap is, you know.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I always say that Rick fair promos are hip hop.
- 3:35Speaker 1: So that's where like it to me fits hand in hand.
- 3:39Speaker 1: You got these larger than life figures their real life
- 3:41Speaker 1: comic book dudes, and it's like what if they could rhyme?
- 3:44Speaker 1: Shouted John Cena and he rhyme too.
- 3:46Speaker 2: But you know what I mean, I feel like him
- 3:48Speaker 2: taking that route helped him probably with his mic work. Immenseally.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sure and like he was doing that, he
- 3:54Speaker 1: was really in it. I remember talking to Esoteric about
- 3:57Speaker 1: that shout esotericz our face and he was like, yo,
- 4:00Speaker 1: he would be at every cipher with us, like going
- 4:02Speaker 1: to every show in Boston.
- 4:03Speaker 2: And like Jake One produced his theme song. I guess
- 4:05Speaker 2: people realize like Bumpy Knuckles was all over his very
- 4:08Speaker 2: hip hop one hundred.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Yeah. I ran in the scena a few times, but
- 4:13Speaker 1: most most fun and time was I was backstage. I
- 4:16Speaker 1: was part of the rat Battle. It still is a
- 4:17Speaker 1: New Day Battle. And and while they was hosting and
- 4:21Speaker 1: and I'm talking to the New Day kind of showing
- 4:23Speaker 1: them a little bit of how to present their bars,
- 4:26Speaker 1: like you know, give that pause for the people here,
- 4:28Speaker 1: do this, you know, and Sena comes in the room,
- 4:31Speaker 1: you know, and then uh, and he's like, I just
- 4:34Speaker 1: want to say, you know, congratulations guys. You guys have
- 4:36Speaker 1: been doing great. You're holding it down since I haven't
- 4:37Speaker 1: been here, and uh, And I was like, oh, I
- 4:39Speaker 1: seen it. I thought you were coming to tell us
- 4:41Speaker 1: you were like about to jump in the rap battle,
- 4:43Speaker 1: like you'd be like, hold up, you'll barres done. And
- 4:46Speaker 1: he was like, no, no, Rap is a young man's game.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I'm done with that and uh and he was he
- 4:52Speaker 1: was serious. He never rapped again, so like I was
- 4:55Speaker 1: really like wow. But then I thought about it, like
- 4:57Speaker 1: seeen as my age, Like I'm aging myself now, but
- 5:00Speaker 1: seene as my age. I was like, You're never too
- 5:02Speaker 1: old for this, like and I feel like we got
- 5:03Speaker 1: to get out of that mentality that Rap is a
- 5:06Speaker 1: young man's game.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Scene it has like fully it's funny because like, uh,
- 5:09Speaker 2: you know when he does his he did his his
- 5:11Speaker 2: last match. My kids started, My twelve year old watch
- 5:15Speaker 2: that and he's not interesting. But now he was like
- 5:18Speaker 2: he saw this whole the final Scena match, and he
- 5:21Speaker 2: was like just started going on a YouTube rabbit hole,
- 5:23Speaker 2: and I was like, damn seen a really like shed
- 5:26Speaker 2: like every little bit of his like Boston accent and
- 5:28Speaker 2: all that shits gone.
- 5:30Speaker 1: That's character growth and development.
- 5:32Speaker 2: And like he's just he's like a fucking superstar now,
- 5:35Speaker 2: like he's got to do movie junkets and.
- 5:37Speaker 1: He's President Obama now like with the with theddiction, you
- 5:39Speaker 1: know what I mean. Like he's so he's that smooth,
- 5:41Speaker 1: he's so political with his answers, like like he's gotten. Yeah,
- 5:45Speaker 1: like it's character development like over the years and being
- 5:47Speaker 1: able to switch, you know what I mean. We call
- 5:50Speaker 1: it code switching, you know what I'm saying, And that
- 5:52Speaker 1: I mean maybe that's a part of it, you know,
- 5:54Speaker 1: for him as well. But like Sena was deeply entrenched
- 5:56Speaker 1: in hip hop, you know what I'm saying.
- 5:58Speaker 2: I always wonder when you can you've put out so
- 6:01Speaker 2: much music where you guys have like you've sampled video
- 6:03Speaker 2: game music, and have you ever ran into any issues
- 6:07Speaker 2: with like them, like sending you season desists or anything
- 6:09Speaker 2: for like artwork or anything.
- 6:11Speaker 1: No. I thought it was gonna happen this back into
- 6:13Speaker 1: MySpace days by the way, I was, yo, yeah, let's
- 6:17Speaker 1: let's not bring that energy. Don't you put that evil
- 6:19Speaker 1: on me, Ricky Bobby. But honestly, I got to a
- 6:23Speaker 1: point now where I'm so I guess known in that
- 6:25Speaker 1: community where like I know these developers, I know that
- 6:28Speaker 1: these publishers, and they know me as the video game guy.
- 6:30Speaker 1: So a lot of them look at it as an honor,
- 6:32Speaker 1: right And with Capcom. When I started sampling Mega Man
- 6:35Speaker 1: and named myself Mega Ran, it was random. Before that.
- 6:39Speaker 1: I got a message on MySpace by Capcom and they
- 6:41Speaker 1: were like, oh, this is this is cool. You sampling
- 6:43Speaker 1: our stuff and I was like, yeah, it's because I
- 6:46Speaker 1: love y'all so much, you know. And the guy was like,
- 6:48Speaker 1: don't worry, this isn't a season desist, like we got
- 6:51Speaker 1: your back, and I was like, yo, for real and
- 6:53Speaker 1: they were like, however, Japan though different stories, different different people,
- 6:58Speaker 1: we don't run anything over there, so maybe don't go
- 7:01Speaker 1: to Japan yelling this out that you you know, but
- 7:04Speaker 1: but here we got you. So they started inviting me
- 7:06Speaker 1: to comic cons. I was coming out performing. Actually the
- 7:09Speaker 1: first rapper to perform on a comic con floor at
- 7:14Speaker 1: any sort of a comic con. It was at San
- 7:15Speaker 1: Diego in two thousand and seven.
- 7:17Speaker 2: I mean that is the comic con.
- 7:18Speaker 1: And then the next year they had a couple of rappers.
- 7:20Speaker 1: You might know they have method Man in red Man.
- 7:22Speaker 1: You might know that.
- 7:23Speaker 2: You know, they just did what was in New York.
- 7:27Speaker 2: They had the New York comic They did Masiel. Yeah,
- 7:31Speaker 2: that shit was crazy.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Nerdcore bro Like, we're seeing these things coming together with
- 7:36Speaker 1: nerdcore ghosts, Tony Starks, you know what I mean, Like
- 7:38Speaker 1: it's all bleeding it's bleeding now. You can't tell the difference.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I listened to I think it was Denzel Curry, who
- 7:43Speaker 1: does Mad Stone Cold and wrestling references, and I'm like,
- 7:47Speaker 1: it's there, like it's it's all bleeding together, like it's
- 7:49Speaker 1: just hip hop. That's really what it is. Like you
- 7:51Speaker 1: can't you can't hold it down and confine it to
- 7:54Speaker 1: even a genre at this I.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Think too, it's like, you know, at the end of
- 7:59Speaker 2: the day, we have such a complex world where there's
- 8:02Speaker 2: so many people's hobbies and interests, but not everyone's into
- 8:06Speaker 2: like you know, listening and the dope dealing and shoot
- 8:10Speaker 2: them up rap music at all times. It's like, hey,
- 8:13Speaker 2: for people who are into wrestling and you know, they
- 8:15Speaker 2: want to scratch that itch or whatever. I feel like
- 8:17Speaker 2: hip hop is like anything else, man, Like there should
- 8:19Speaker 2: be some part of the genre to serve everybody absolutely.
- 8:23Speaker 1: And I used to be one of those hip hop purists,
- 8:25Speaker 1: you know, growing up in Philly where it was like
- 8:27Speaker 1: East Coast rapp er die, you know what I mean,
- 8:29Speaker 1: where it was like that ain't hip hop, you know,
- 8:31Speaker 1: like we would get upset by certain things happening in
- 8:33Speaker 1: hip hop and like it's the latest point of view
- 8:36Speaker 1: where it.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Was like I used to be the same way, dude,
- 8:38Speaker 2: and then I can't.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Hip hop grow Yeah, no for sure, like like that
- 8:40Speaker 1: ain't real rap. That ain't Oh god, I just like
- 8:43Speaker 1: cringe thinking about those thoughts. It's a very dinosaur kind
- 8:46Speaker 1: of way to look at it, like that ain't might
- 8:47Speaker 1: hip hop, right, you know? And now it happens in
- 8:51Speaker 1: you know, with the internet, especially like the gatekeeping of
- 8:53Speaker 1: stuff being like this is ours, you can't do this,
- 8:56Speaker 1: call it something else, and it's like you can call
- 8:59Speaker 1: it hip hop, like sound like our parents that we
- 9:01Speaker 1: literally sound like our parents. What's that beat? Bobby bobob?
- 9:03Speaker 1: We can't even I don't even know what they're saying,
- 9:05Speaker 1: you know, And it's like, let these kids be kids.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Man, what were you doing when you find out that
- 9:11Speaker 2: you're nominated for a Grammy? Was it because I feel like,
- 9:13Speaker 2: were you guys watching the nominations or man?
- 9:15Speaker 1: I was late to it, Like I'm late to everything.
- 9:17Speaker 1: We're just goofs. Me and Felix shot out the Feelix
- 9:19Speaker 1: we were. I had a little breakfast at the house.
- 9:21Speaker 1: It was my tenth anniversary, so we're celebrating our anniversary.
- 9:24Speaker 1: It's the same day, and we had people over for
- 9:26Speaker 1: breakfast and we're like, let's put on the stream, and
- 9:28Speaker 1: we try to find the stream and we put it
- 9:29Speaker 1: on YouTube and then we're at the end and it
- 9:31Speaker 1: says thank you for watching the Grammy stream. And I'm like, no, no, no, no,
- 9:35Speaker 1: let's find it. And then I get a texting and
- 9:37Speaker 1: I'm like, not now, I'm trying to find this Grammy stream.
- 9:41Speaker 1: My phone starts blowing up and I'm like, no, I'm
- 9:42Speaker 1: trying to find this stream. I'm not gonna look at this.
- 9:44Speaker 1: So then my boy Cisco was like, I found Variety
- 9:48Speaker 1: dot com. We got the list, everything's here, and we
- 9:50Speaker 1: strolled all the way down the list and I see
- 9:52Speaker 1: Magarin Buddy's Magic Tree House and I was like, yo,
- 9:55Speaker 1: but I still don't believe this, Like I mean, let me,
- 9:58Speaker 1: let's find the stream. And we go back and we
- 9:59Speaker 1: run at the beginning of to stream and we watch
- 10:01Speaker 1: it and I just burst out crying like I've I've
- 10:05Speaker 1: probably never cried about like a musical moment, right, you
- 10:08Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. But this was hard work and
- 10:10Speaker 1: also like the you know, I'm big on dates and
- 10:13Speaker 1: anniversaries like, so it was the anniversary of my album.
- 10:17Speaker 1: It was the anniversary of my marriage, and then the
- 10:20Speaker 1: Grammys are happening on the anniversary of my first release
- 10:23Speaker 1: of twenty years since almost to that. So it's like
- 10:25Speaker 1: the numerology starts lining up, and I'm just like, dang,
- 10:28Speaker 1: like this is like divine stuff, you know what I'm saying,
- 10:32Speaker 1: And it's bigger than me. It's bigger than hip hop,
- 10:34Speaker 1: you know. And so when I think about that, it
- 10:37Speaker 1: just it just brought emotions. Man, I'm just like crying
- 10:39Speaker 1: in the middle of my floor. My kid is dancing
- 10:42Speaker 1: around like y'all shut up, it's too loud, you know.
- 10:44Speaker 1: And it was just amazing. But I found out late
- 10:47Speaker 1: I was the last person of my circuad when.
- 10:50Speaker 2: You like, because I always wonder, like, do you like
- 10:55Speaker 2: when you want to get nominated, you it has to
- 10:57Speaker 2: be like a conscious effort because you kind of have
- 10:59Speaker 2: to submit to.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Submit, and that's where like people get it wrong. So
- 11:03Speaker 1: they try to act like they don't care about Grammys.
- 11:05Speaker 2: No, you have to like, but you have to add
- 11:06Speaker 2: the week The Weekend no longer submits his music for
- 11:09Speaker 2: the Grammys. So if every every year it was like
- 11:11Speaker 2: the Weekend got snubbed. It's like, well he purposely is.
- 11:14Speaker 2: I didn't want to get it fucked the Grammy.
- 11:15Speaker 1: But they made up.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Now they're good, did they he performed last year? They
- 11:19Speaker 2: I don't know who his album to get nominated in
- 11:21Speaker 2: because I was like, one of the best fucking albums
- 11:23Speaker 2: of the years.
- 11:23Speaker 1: It's timing to like, so it might be it might
- 11:26Speaker 1: be Ellegit is a great album. I hear the big
- 11:28Speaker 1: Michael Jackson influence for sure, But maybe it's eligible for
- 11:32Speaker 1: next year because there's a date.
- 11:33Speaker 2: There's a cutoff September to September. I forget win in
- 11:36Speaker 2: September something like.
- 11:36Speaker 1: That, so it could have been in the cutoff time
- 11:38Speaker 1: where it could be eligible for next year. I think
- 11:40Speaker 1: about that every time people put out albums. Now I'm like, oh,
- 11:42Speaker 1: it's a great album, but we're not gonna be able
- 11:44Speaker 1: to talk about it until next year.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Even like when gn X came out, I was like, Yo,
- 11:48Speaker 2: by the time this gets nominated for Grammy, it's gonna
- 11:50Speaker 2: be twenty twenty.
- 11:50Speaker 1: So it'll be old, you know to some people. I
- 11:52Speaker 1: mean people still bumping and I'm sure, but yeah, GNX
- 11:55Speaker 1: came out in December, so it's like, yeah, you're gonna
- 11:57Speaker 1: wait a while before you get to celebrate it.
- 11:59Speaker 2: So you I submitted as a team officially.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we submitted. I submitted my last two children's albums.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I've submitted before that too. I've been a member since
- 12:06Speaker 1: like twenty fifteen, and but I always felt like, I'll submit,
- 12:10Speaker 1: We'll see what happens, and then you know, it doesn't
- 12:13Speaker 1: cost anything to submit once you remember, So I was like,
- 12:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna submit, We'll see what happens. Of course, you
- 12:17Speaker 1: do a little bit of politic and you make sure
- 12:19Speaker 1: you talk to some people. You get advice from winners,
- 12:22Speaker 1: you know, and so that's what let me know we're
- 12:23Speaker 1: on the right path. Where like winners and nominees were
- 12:26Speaker 1: hitting me like this is some of the best music
- 12:28Speaker 1: I've heard this year, Like for sure, make sure you submit,
- 12:31Speaker 1: and I'm like, okay, I will, you know, and we
- 12:34Speaker 1: got it, man, Like it's it's just a testament to
- 12:37Speaker 1: hard work. But you have to submit, Like it's like
- 12:39Speaker 1: the lottery. You can't be mad that you didn't win
- 12:41Speaker 1: the lottery when you didn't buy a ticket.
- 12:43Speaker 2: What what initially like kind of obviously having your son,
- 12:49Speaker 2: but what was kind of the initial spark to be like,
- 12:52Speaker 2: I want to do a whole children's album and like
- 12:55Speaker 2: keep doing them like you ever heard that so on
- 12:57Speaker 2: Baby Shark, Yeah, I mean, fuck I have.
- 13:00Speaker 1: That's what made me want to them write better than this,
- 13:05Speaker 1: said we have to we cannot listen to this for
- 13:07Speaker 1: the nine hundredth time. We gotta do something else. And
- 13:10Speaker 1: so we would find other songs, and for the most part,
- 13:13Speaker 1: they were equally annoying and uh, and that's just the
- 13:16Speaker 1: big stuff that gets a lot of attention, so it's
- 13:18Speaker 1: not all. And that's what I started learning about what
- 13:20Speaker 1: they call kindi, which is kid music by indies, and
- 13:23Speaker 1: so you got to dig a little deeper. It's like
- 13:25Speaker 1: underground rap. And so I started finding independent artists who
- 13:28Speaker 1: are making really dope kids music. And I was like, oh,
- 13:30Speaker 1: you can be dope and do this. Like I thought
- 13:32Speaker 1: you just had to be like one, two, three, four,
- 13:37Speaker 1: you know, But realizing like you can be dope and
- 13:40Speaker 1: be fun, I was like, well, let me try it.
- 13:42Speaker 1: So I started writing songs. I wrote a song basically
- 13:44Speaker 1: based on what I was dealing with with my toddler.
- 13:46Speaker 1: So he liked fruit. So I was like, let's make
- 13:47Speaker 1: a song about fruit and let's see if I can
- 13:49Speaker 1: make it hip hop. Like I love Biggie, give me
- 13:51Speaker 1: the loot. I was like, let me give me the fruit.
- 13:54Speaker 1: And so we made a song about hip hop. It
- 13:56Speaker 1: was during the fiftyth anniversary of hip hop where we're like,
- 13:59Speaker 1: all right, I want to teach kids the story of rapping.
- 14:01Speaker 1: So we decided to make a song where I go
- 14:03Speaker 1: boom boom, boom bat, you know what I mean, and
- 14:06Speaker 1: then tell the entire story of how hip hop was born.
- 14:08Speaker 1: So it was just basically making the songs I would make,
- 14:11Speaker 1: but like so that my kid could understand it, you
- 14:14Speaker 1: know what I mean. And they call it dumbing it down,
- 14:16Speaker 1: but I don't think it was that. It's more for me.
- 14:18Speaker 1: It's like smiling a little more, you know what I mean.
- 14:20Speaker 1: It's like, instead of me trying to be so hard,
- 14:23Speaker 1: it's like, I'm gonna smile a lot more and I'm
- 14:24Speaker 1: gonna make songs that make me smile or that will
- 14:27Speaker 1: make somebody around me smile, and that's really it. And
- 14:29Speaker 1: it was hard. Man. I sat with Felix and I
- 14:31Speaker 1: was like, I don't think we can I don't think
- 14:33Speaker 1: I can do that. I remember sitting there with a
- 14:35Speaker 1: blank page.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Like successions.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Felix produced and engineered the entire record with me, and
- 14:42Speaker 1: so we were we were sitting. Yeah, he sat through
- 14:45Speaker 1: this entire process and like he already knows, Like he's like,
- 14:48Speaker 1: you can write, and he wrote songs about freaking Transformers
- 14:51Speaker 1: the movie, like you can do this, and I would
- 14:53Speaker 1: still be like, I don't know, man, you know and uh?
- 14:57Speaker 1: And I think I think Will Smith said that, like, yo,
- 15:00Speaker 1: everything you really want is on the other side of
- 15:02Speaker 1: your fear. And I'm like, Yo, if you can get
- 15:05Speaker 1: over that fear, and if you feel scared about something,
- 15:07Speaker 1: it's probably you going the right way. You know what
- 15:09Speaker 1: I mean. When the last time you got scared?
- 15:12Speaker 2: Oh fuck, I don't know, man, He's like, I ain't
- 15:15Speaker 2: never scared. I mean no, I'm sure.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I just like an interview, like somebody came through you.
- 15:19Speaker 1: It's like, shit, what am I gonna say? You know me?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Or something like that.
- 15:22Speaker 2: I don't I think the last interview I was like
- 15:24Speaker 2: pretty nervous for was was Snoop because that's the interview
- 15:28Speaker 2: I've always that's huge interview, so huge. Yeah, So I
- 15:33Speaker 2: was like I never prepared too hard for an interview.
- 15:35Speaker 2: And I was like, there's just so much on ask
- 15:37Speaker 2: I don't want forget nothing, like this might be the
- 15:39Speaker 2: only time I interviewed.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I get that. So yeah, like when you
- 15:43Speaker 1: when you're feeling if you don't feel I'm sean Michael
- 15:45Speaker 1: said that too. He's like, I was nervous before every match,
- 15:47Speaker 1: and if you not, it's time to quit, you know
- 15:49Speaker 1: what I mean. Like when you don't feel a little
- 15:51Speaker 1: bit of goosebumps when they say five minutes to go time.
- 15:54Speaker 1: You know, if I don't have to go take a
- 15:56Speaker 1: dump with that time, then I know it's not it's
- 16:00Speaker 1: not for me anymore, you know what I mean. Like
- 16:02Speaker 1: I instantly my stomach goes all right, well, I'll be
- 16:05Speaker 1: right back in five minutes.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Hey, we gott to stop the interview to tell you
- 16:07Speaker 2: about our good folks, odd Socks.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Man.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Now, these are the odd Socks Basics, ladies and gentlemen. Now,
- 16:13Speaker 2: when I tell you this is a product that every
- 16:17Speaker 2: single day I'm alive for the last five six years
- 16:22Speaker 2: I have used are these odd Socks basics. Now, what
- 16:24Speaker 2: odd Socks is doing is they're kind of reinventing the
- 16:27Speaker 2: sock game. If we're being honest and the underwear game.
- 16:29Speaker 2: You know a lot of times you'll hit Walmart, you'll
- 16:31Speaker 2: hit Target, you'll get some socks, you get some draws.
- 16:33Speaker 2: They're affordable, stand up with holes in them. They don't
- 16:37Speaker 2: really feel great. Not odd Socks, Ladies and gentlemen. These
- 16:40Speaker 2: odd Socks Basics are the most comfortable socks I've ever
- 16:43Speaker 2: had on my feet. Not only that, but you're super affordable.

- 17:01Speaker 2: we go. Ah, you see that. Sorry you had to
- 17:05Speaker 2: see those white legs. But it's so dope that, you know,
- 17:09Speaker 2: I get to push a product that I use and
- 17:11Speaker 2: that I love, so odd Socks they got the six
- 17:14Speaker 2: pack of socks for fourteen ninety nine a odd socks
- 17:16Speaker 2: dot Com the basics. This is the future of socks,
- 17:20Speaker 2: the future of underwear comfort and affordability. I'm talking about
- 17:24Speaker 2: affordability without jeopardizing the quality because they are the most
- 17:28Speaker 2: comfortable socks you ever put on your feet. Ladies and
- 17:30Speaker 2: gents and the ETCeteras. Got to show love to the
- 17:33Speaker 2: ETCeteras we like all the stripes on the flag. There
- 17:36Speaker 2: are odd socks dot com man, much love to my
- 17:39Speaker 2: brothers over there. Make sure you get some right now,
- 17:41Speaker 2: odd socks dot Com. Let's get back to the interview.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I was gonna say a lot of people don't know
- 17:45Speaker 2: you've done some theme songs too on the wrestling side. Yes, Yes,
- 17:49Speaker 2: the New Day, New Day, Thank God.
- 17:51Speaker 1: For the New Day. I did the New Day's New
- 17:53Speaker 1: theme with my man say Zy shout out to them. Yeah, man,
- 17:57Speaker 1: they've always looked out man. What has been my dude
- 17:59Speaker 1: for decade plus?
- 18:00Speaker 2: A fellow game And also, like I would say, like
- 18:03Speaker 2: when it comes to he's like the first guy to
- 18:04Speaker 2: really embrace the gaming shit on ye wrestlers.
- 18:07Speaker 1: So I feel like they said, like all the guys
- 18:09Speaker 1: used to just play cards backstage, and then he would
- 18:11Speaker 1: bring a game system and then those guys are looking at.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Them like y'all playing them dumb video games.
- 18:16Speaker 1: And then they be like me, let me get a turn,
- 18:18Speaker 1: let me let me get on that mat, and let
- 18:19Speaker 1: me get them sticks, you know. And so he started
- 18:21Speaker 1: bringing games to the round and he was like, Yo,
- 18:24Speaker 1: these are hilarious moments. So he started a YouTube page
- 18:26Speaker 1: up Up Down Down, which is really dope. And yeah,
- 18:30Speaker 1: like had huge success with that, and it was a
- 18:33Speaker 1: time where, like you said, it was like they weren't
- 18:35Speaker 1: doing that right, like they didn't know what to do
- 18:37Speaker 1: with that, where they're just like, wait, what is this?
- 18:38Speaker 1: This is a whole new world like YouTube channels now
- 18:40Speaker 1: everybody has a twitch, everybody's doing their thing, and Woods
- 18:44Speaker 1: was the first man, Like I think, I mean, his
- 18:47Speaker 1: career has already been amazing, but I think post WWB,
- 18:50Speaker 1: like Woods is going to do something that's going to
- 18:53Speaker 1: blow everybody's minds, like because he's just got a mind
- 18:56Speaker 1: that's different, Like he'll show me pages like here's my
- 18:59Speaker 1: here's my creative suggestions for this year, you know what
- 19:03Speaker 1: I mean. And I'm just like yo, like he's constantly thinking.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Was it were you nervous at all? Knowing you're kind
- 19:08Speaker 2: of like crafting the heel song for these guys, Yes.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Because I'm the good guy. I'm the siding like.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Some of the biggest babyfaces ever if you think about
- 19:15Speaker 2: like their main run.
- 19:16Speaker 1: That's true, and but you know, it's it's more fun
- 19:18Speaker 1: being a heel. And I remember them saying that, like
- 19:20Speaker 1: it's really fun and so for me to have to
- 19:23Speaker 1: dig into a.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Bad guy bag and scowl a little bit.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I'm not smiling when I do these these verses, you know.
- 19:28Speaker 1: But but Kofe and Woods were like we wanted like
- 19:31Speaker 1: a back and forth, like a Jada Kiss styles kind
- 19:33Speaker 1: of thing, where you say something, the other one says something.
- 19:35Speaker 1: It's almost like we're talking to ourselves, like we're hyping
- 19:38Speaker 1: each other up, like he my brother, I'm you know.
- 19:40Speaker 1: So that was the vibe they wanted. So they let
- 19:43Speaker 1: me hear some songs for samples and examples and and
- 19:46Speaker 1: a lot of them was hard songs. And I was like,
- 19:47Speaker 1: what y'all know about this? They played me the game
- 19:50Speaker 1: Ali Bum and I was like, what y'all know about this?
- 19:52Speaker 1: You know? Like they they were like, this is the
- 19:54Speaker 1: kind of energy we want, and I was like I
- 19:57Speaker 1: can do it, you know. So yeah, I think it
- 19:59Speaker 1: was really fun. But it was weird because now it's like,
- 20:01Speaker 1: I don't know if I'm supposed to cheer y'all, I'm
- 20:03Speaker 1: supposed to be happy that my music's playing, or I'm
- 20:05Speaker 1: telling y'all to boo. I don't know. But what it
- 20:08Speaker 1: was like always boo, we're bad guys.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Boos what is the process, Like, you submit it more
- 20:12Speaker 2: than once do they give you like heyo, change this,
- 20:14Speaker 2: hey do this? Because yeah, they give you some notes.
- 20:17Speaker 1: I remember while they saying when he did the Big
- 20:19Speaker 1: E theme, it was like that where they kind of
- 20:20Speaker 1: have a stencil when they have an outline like all right,
- 20:22Speaker 1: this is kind of where we need to hook the hit.
- 20:24Speaker 1: This is where we want the boom to bath, you know.
- 20:26Speaker 1: So they have a formula to these tracks and you
- 20:28Speaker 1: can tell like you know what I mean, you get
- 20:29Speaker 1: thirty seconds of the song and then and then it drops,
- 20:34Speaker 1: you know what I mean, that's the moment you come
- 20:35Speaker 1: out the curtain or whatever. So they give you the
- 20:38Speaker 1: stensul kind of and you just kind of filling in
- 20:40Speaker 1: the blank s. You're like, all right, you say this, here,
- 20:42Speaker 1: give us a pause with this breathe. You know. So,
- 20:45Speaker 1: but I give them all the sessions I'll recorded with Felix,
- 20:47Speaker 1: and I'm like, here's the stems, y'all take.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Out what you need. Yeah, yeah, I got a crazy
- 20:51Speaker 2: engineer at WW.
- 20:52Speaker 1: I like the over deliver, you know what I mean.
- 20:54Speaker 1: But they, man, they work so fast with that stuff. Man.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I remember even with the king Woods theme, they were
- 20:58Speaker 1: in Saudi when he won of the Ring and somebody
- 21:01Speaker 1: emailed me was like, hey, Xavier wants you to do
- 21:04Speaker 1: his theme and I was like what theme. It's like
- 21:06Speaker 1: he's King of the Ring theme and at that time
- 21:08Speaker 1: he wasn't decided it yet and I was like all right,
- 21:10Speaker 1: and it's like we went this on TV by Friday
- 21:13Speaker 1: and I was like, it's Tuesday. It's like okay, so
- 21:16Speaker 1: got to work and then they mixed it and made
- 21:18Speaker 1: it sound good. I had it on TV by Friday,
- 21:20Speaker 1: so like they're they're they're on it, man, they're on it.
- 21:23Speaker 1: So shout out to their squad is it?
- 21:25Speaker 2: Like do you is it? I always like if you're
- 21:27Speaker 2: the artist on the other side of that, because it
- 21:29Speaker 2: always feels like ww kind of typically is always used
- 21:32Speaker 2: like in house people.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yes, it's rare. I think it has to come from
- 21:36Speaker 1: the talent being like, yo, use my guy.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Do you like essentially you're just like you give up
- 21:41Speaker 2: rights to the song, you get publishing.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Oh, we get to get some inside baseball. Yes, you
- 21:46Speaker 1: become a work for hire in this situation, which is
- 21:48Speaker 1: you know kind of typically.
- 21:49Speaker 2: You get publishing. You know, no, no pub.
- 21:51Speaker 1: No, man. The biggest things I've ever done in my
- 21:54Speaker 1: life probably have no pub attached, which is crazy.
- 21:56Speaker 2: That she gets played on TV every one. I mean
- 21:58Speaker 2: maybe not every week, but most weeks. Yeah.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Yeah. Stuff I've done with aw I get pub on,
- 22:04Speaker 1: but nah, not with the E.
- 22:06Speaker 3: I guess like we don't feel like now, yeah, we
- 22:09Speaker 3: don't want to write these tiny Like I did a
- 22:12Speaker 3: record for kofe Mania that was supposed to be used
- 22:15Speaker 3: and it didn't wind up getting used with me while.
- 22:17Speaker 1: A akon like this crazy record and uh and they
- 22:21Speaker 1: were like nah. And now I'm like, well, can I
- 22:24Speaker 1: have the song because I want to put it out?
- 22:25Speaker 1: Like nah, there's a check. It's ours now, you know,
- 22:28Speaker 1: so if we want to use this later in the vault, yeah,
- 22:31Speaker 1: Like it's like I get it because they don't. Who
- 22:33Speaker 1: wants to write twenty five checks every I don't know
- 22:36Speaker 1: whatever it would take to do that to balance you know,
- 22:39Speaker 1: it would be nice. I will say that, but but
- 22:42Speaker 1: I knew that going in, so it's not like, oh,
- 22:43Speaker 1: they robbed me. It's like, yo, you the trade off
- 22:47Speaker 1: is thousands of people are going to hear your song
- 22:49Speaker 1: every week, you know what I'm saying, and they know
- 22:52Speaker 1: it's you and hopefully they know it's you. And man,
- 22:55Speaker 1: people send me videos from like Mania from them coming
- 22:57Speaker 1: out at that huge entrance with my voice coming through
- 23:01Speaker 1: that through allegiance, Like that was crazy to me. So yeah,
- 23:04Speaker 1: like the trade off in a lot of cases is
- 23:06Speaker 1: worth it. Like they say, the super Bowl is an
- 23:08Speaker 1: unpaid gig, you know what I'm saying, And then you
- 23:10Speaker 1: got to hire your production crew. So it's a.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Nugget the super Bowl. It's literally like we're giving you
- 23:15Speaker 2: a look.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Yeah, It's like, yo, that is the look. People say exposure.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Don't pay some exposure because the super Bowl, super Bowl
- 23:24Speaker 1: pace You also.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Somehow fell into playing the fake drums at the WrestleMania
- 23:31Speaker 2: one year.
- 23:33Speaker 1: That was in Philly. Shout out to my uh, this
- 23:36Speaker 1: is the guy collaborated with WRESMANI forty forty forty. May
- 23:40Speaker 1: you know what forty we're gonna be looking back because we.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Were there, we were together, fucking freezing.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I know it was cold, but we're gonna look back
- 23:46Speaker 1: as that was one of the last great moments of
- 23:49Speaker 1: wrestling because the bloodline saga. You know what I'm saying,
- 23:52Speaker 1: I mean.
- 23:53Speaker 2: I think that I mean, like I for I think
- 23:55Speaker 2: that's top three Mania.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Ever, yeah, yeah, they super delivered with everything, and that
- 24:00Speaker 1: almost never happens. So the morning of night Too, I
- 24:05Speaker 1: get a text from a guy named Frank who played
- 24:07Speaker 1: ironically on my very first album, which is about to
- 24:09Speaker 1: be twenty years old. The call he played sax on
- 24:12Speaker 1: that album and he's like, oh, I know you like wrestling,
- 24:14Speaker 1: so you're gonna like this. I'm actually at the stadium
- 24:17Speaker 1: and I was like, what are you doing at the stadium.
- 24:19Speaker 1: He's like, oh, man, I teach music in Philly and
- 24:21Speaker 1: they wanted some kids to come out and like fake
- 24:24Speaker 1: drum and fake composed for Roman reigns entrance. And I
- 24:26Speaker 1: was like you what and he's like sounds cool, huh.
- 24:29Speaker 1: And I was like yeah, Like are you just flexing
- 24:31Speaker 1: on me? And he's like no, actually, like if you
- 24:33Speaker 1: want to come in chaperon, like I'd love to have
- 24:36Speaker 1: you here like and I was like okay. He's like,
- 24:38Speaker 1: we're all black and meet us at the stadium and
- 24:41Speaker 1: I'm like, say less, And so I have to get
- 24:45Speaker 1: everybody packed up and we ride over there and he's like,
- 24:48Speaker 1: there's a school bus waiting to pick up all the kids.
- 24:49Speaker 1: You could ride the school bus. And I was like
- 24:52Speaker 1: I get there, the school bus is riding off, and
- 24:53Speaker 1: I'm like, dang, I missed the school bus and I'm
- 24:56Speaker 1: in an uber and I'm like follow that bus. So
- 24:58Speaker 1: did we ride? Follow the bus? Getting to the stadium.
- 25:01Speaker 1: It's a lot of hurry up and wait. We're sitting
- 25:02Speaker 1: in the tent. It was cold, like you said, one
- 25:06Speaker 1: was freezing so cool, and I watched the whole show
- 25:10Speaker 1: like the way the wrestlers do, where you like they
- 25:12Speaker 1: watching on them the monitor and you're standing there like
- 25:15Speaker 1: almost no seats. So it kind of sucked because I
- 25:17Speaker 1: didn't get to sit into my seat and enjoy the show.
- 25:19Speaker 1: But they basically were like, pretend to play drums, and
- 25:22Speaker 1: they were like, actually, we have a couple more shoulder harnesses,
- 25:25Speaker 1: like do you want to just pretend to play? And
- 25:27Speaker 1: I'm like yeah, hell yeah, I dude, like what like
- 25:29Speaker 1: a financial field, I'm an Eagles fan, Like, yes, I
- 25:32Speaker 1: want to do this. And so me and Teak Teeka
- 25:35Speaker 1: was with me shot the teak and we were like
- 25:36Speaker 1: let's go. And so we get up there and we're
- 25:38Speaker 1: just playing and they were like, you know, keep it easy,
- 25:40Speaker 1: no pictures and whatever. But luckily the drummer that was
- 25:44Speaker 1: sitting on the drum kit had the he had the
- 25:47Speaker 1: meta glasses. He was like heyo, got like some cool
- 25:51Speaker 1: pictures of us, and it was doe like before I
- 25:54Speaker 1: see the use of that.
- 25:55Speaker 2: List like that's before those things were like it was
- 25:58Speaker 2: hot out here for those because now I feel like
- 26:00Speaker 2: people are looking like.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Now they're looking for it. They have to light up
- 26:03Speaker 1: now to take the picture.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Came up to me and start dapping me up and
- 26:06Speaker 2: talk to me, and he's feeling me though. I said, bro,
- 26:08Speaker 2: you fucking right now.
- 26:10Speaker 1: I don't like that, dude. I don't like that.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Man.
- 26:13Speaker 1: If you got to let people know, they should tell
- 26:15Speaker 1: you like yo, you gotta let people know, like the
- 26:18Speaker 1: I don't know that the glasses should be like you
- 26:20Speaker 1: are recording every few seconds, I don't know are you raising?
- 26:25Speaker 1: But yeah, dream come true. Man got to play some
- 26:27Speaker 1: drums on the stage with the with the bloodline.
- 26:29Speaker 2: What's your top three video games of all time?
- 26:33Speaker 1: I gotta pick different eras then, but Mega Man of course,
- 26:36Speaker 1: Mega man X is probably the best one. Superintendo. Uh,
- 26:40Speaker 1: I heard some I heard some love. Mega Man X
- 26:43Speaker 1: is fire and today it's still super dope and it's
- 26:47Speaker 1: pretty much the blueprint for a lot of like side
- 26:49Speaker 1: scrolling type games.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Fronal Fancy seven. Uh, it's my second and.
- 26:55Speaker 1: A third man. This is hard bro. When I think
- 27:02Speaker 1: greatest ever, I think like a game that if I
- 27:05Speaker 1: see it, I got to pick up the controller and
- 27:07Speaker 1: play it. And that's probably Street Frighter two, you know
- 27:11Speaker 1: what I mean, Like Street Frighter two, if I see
- 27:13Speaker 1: it down, if I see it in the arcade, I
- 27:14Speaker 1: gotta PLoP a quarter in and give you this.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Work with with Ken, you know what I mean, Like,
- 27:18Speaker 2: I just have to do it, never ry you. Huh. Nah,
- 27:21Speaker 2: they got the same moves. Nah, it ain't the same.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Ken got the berserker rage even going crazy.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Ryu's more like laid back feel like, yeah, I was
- 27:30Speaker 2: just like Ken look gay when I was a kid.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Like he's got that long hair, he can't fight, And
- 27:36Speaker 3: then I do.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I respect right you? And his story is the best
- 27:40Speaker 1: one at this ending because he wins the trophy and
- 27:44Speaker 1: they're like, oh, here's the ceremony and they're all up
- 27:47Speaker 1: there and they're like, where is you? And they turn
- 27:49Speaker 1: and he's gone, and then he's walking away and then
- 27:52Speaker 1: and they say, for you is walking to the next challenge.
- 27:55Speaker 2: That's me.
- 27:56Speaker 1: I never stop to celebrate anything. It's like, nah, I'm
- 27:59Speaker 1: on to the next one. I love that that low
- 28:02Speaker 1: Wayne Dock when remember I don't know if you remember
- 28:05Speaker 1: they the Carter maybe Carter three, when that blew up
- 28:09Speaker 1: and it was a little doc and they were coming
- 28:11Speaker 1: onto the bus to tell them that they went platinum
- 28:13Speaker 1: in a week or whatever, like yo, yo, we just
- 28:14Speaker 1: went platinum. And he had headphones on. He's recording somebody
- 28:18Speaker 1: doing a feature verse.
- 28:18Speaker 2: He's like, I was to work it talk about.
- 28:22Speaker 1: On the next, on to the next, Like you had
- 28:25Speaker 1: to head down and work in this business. Like I
- 28:27Speaker 1: think Kevin Hart said that too, like nobody cares keep working.
- 28:30Speaker 1: And I keep that in the back of my mind
- 28:31Speaker 1: where it's like so Grammy nominated and keep going. Are
- 28:36Speaker 1: you making six figures a show like Beyonce, Well, then.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Keep going making seven figures.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Well, but yeah, let's always room to grow. And I
- 28:44Speaker 1: think that never settled. Is the ryu way.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Do you feel like, because it feels like with kind
- 28:51Speaker 2: of like how popular and mainstream like collecting and like
- 28:54Speaker 2: Pokemon's God, and you know it's there's so many people
- 28:59Speaker 2: in the space now if you are crowded. If you
- 29:01Speaker 2: go to comic con now, it's like it's like going
- 29:04Speaker 2: to like complex, like.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Going to a rap show. It's just I think it's dope.
- 29:09Speaker 1: But I want the record to state I was doing
- 29:11Speaker 1: that before it was cool, you know what I mean.
- 29:13Speaker 1: I was getting laughed at, you know what I mean
- 29:14Speaker 1: when I went to comic cons. I kind of I've
- 29:17Speaker 1: written so many bars about that, just being like it's
- 29:19Speaker 1: kind of funny, but I don't look at it and
- 29:21Speaker 1: like a gatekeeper way like back in my day.
- 29:23Speaker 2: But like I think it's dope, Like wrestling, Like everyone's wrestling.
- 29:28Speaker 2: It's cool now one loves wrestling all.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Of a sudden, Like I wear wrestling shirts. I used
- 29:32Speaker 1: to like the part of the fun was like you
- 29:34Speaker 1: ain't gonna know what this is, and now they're like,
- 29:36Speaker 1: oh yeah, I love that, you know, and it starts
- 29:37Speaker 1: a conversation. Every time I wear wrestling shirt. I think
- 29:40Speaker 1: it's dope. Man, Like I think of it as the kids,
- 29:41Speaker 1: because I don't know about you. I was a kid
- 29:43Speaker 1: who got teased for all this stuff, you know, maybe
- 29:46Speaker 1: not wrestling so much, but like for liking video games,
- 29:49Speaker 1: for reading comic books, like Yo in Philly, in the eighties,
- 29:51Speaker 1: you could get beat up for liking this stuff, like
- 29:55Speaker 1: that's gay, Let's beat them up, you know what I mean.
- 29:57Speaker 1: And like it was to the point where a video
- 29:59Speaker 1: game magazines, I would put the sports illustrated on the
- 30:02Speaker 1: front of it and cover it up when I was
- 30:04Speaker 1: in class, like free reading time, and I'm just reading
- 30:07Speaker 1: my sports, you know, but I was really reading Game
- 30:09Speaker 1: Pro and Nintendo Power. Like, so I understand that it
- 30:13Speaker 1: was hard for kids growing up where you had to
- 30:15Speaker 1: be closet nerds, right, And now, man, kids are skateboarding,
- 30:19Speaker 1: they're doing everything where they would be like, man, that's
- 30:21Speaker 1: that white people's stuff, no offense. Everybody would be like, man,
- 30:24Speaker 1: that's weak while you doing that? Yeah, anime all like
- 30:27Speaker 1: these kids aren't free to be weird, which I think
- 30:30Speaker 1: is amazing, you know what I'm saying. And that's where
- 30:33Speaker 1: as much as I want to be like, yeah, you ain't,
- 30:36Speaker 1: you ain't. You didn't struggle for this like I did,
- 30:38Speaker 1: But you don't. You shouldn't have to, like we struggle
- 30:41Speaker 1: so that these kids today can be exactly who they are. Man,
- 30:44Speaker 1: And I think it's I think it's dope.
- 30:46Speaker 2: If you had to predict the two main events go
- 30:49Speaker 2: under your head for Mania Night one? Night two? Whose
- 30:52Speaker 2: main event Mania?
- 30:55Speaker 1: I think they running back Cody and Roman. I think
- 30:58Speaker 1: we run it back for three. Maybe you get Rockets
- 31:01Speaker 1: special against referee. I don't know. Maybe rock might show
- 31:04Speaker 1: up now that Smashing Machine didn't didn't really kill.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Yeah, well I heard that. Well I heard Saudi Arabia's
- 31:09Speaker 2: like offered him the most for any wrestling event that
- 31:12Speaker 2: anyone's ever gotten. For next year.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Next year, I was about to say, Saudi Mania is
- 31:16Speaker 1: gonna be different. I think of the Rocks, it's going
- 31:19Speaker 1: to be all the big names, but probably bring Triple
- 31:22Speaker 1: HF for that.
- 31:22Speaker 2: But they like one hundred million dollars.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it'll be something crazy. I would have said
- 31:30Speaker 1: AJ's retirement could have main event at Night one.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Do you think that's gonna happen?
- 31:35Speaker 1: Yeah, so I don't know. So world title, I guess
- 31:39Speaker 1: maybe main events night But I think Cody and Roman
- 31:42Speaker 1: a main event without the belt. I think that is
- 31:44Speaker 1: just such a big moment.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of like it's it's it's the main event,
- 31:48Speaker 2: but it's you know.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Co Maine, big main events. They'll do something like that.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I think as far as the World I don't think
- 31:56Speaker 1: the world title is yet ready to be a main
- 31:58Speaker 1: event title.
- 31:59Speaker 2: No, But.
- 32:01Speaker 1: If I had to pick the two main events, I
- 32:04Speaker 1: think Gunter is just gonna be kind of a maybe
- 32:07Speaker 1: Gunter Brock.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 32:10Speaker 1: I think he's gonna be the you know, the attraction guy.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Well, he's gotta be the guy like I mean, look,
- 32:16Speaker 2: if he retires Aj, he kind of has to be
- 32:19Speaker 2: the guy to like, like.
- 32:20Speaker 1: He's gotta retire everybody. Like, I think it's Brock one
- 32:25Speaker 1: of them years, It's Randy one of them years.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Probably probably Jericho, maybe Jericho.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Yeah, he's going to be the guy to send everybody
- 32:32Speaker 1: to the old folks home, which I'm here.
- 32:34Speaker 2: But you know what, though, that tells you how fucking
- 32:36Speaker 2: stupid they were to have Jay tap him out or
- 32:39Speaker 2: him tap out to Jay, because now every time the
- 32:41Speaker 2: fucking crowds screaming, you tapped out.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Yeah, but this is your number one badass, bad guy.
- 32:47Speaker 1: But he tapped out to a dude who's in a
- 32:49Speaker 1: tag team division, now, you know, so that was a mistake.
- 32:52Speaker 1: That was a mistake, yeh was him winning a rumble? Mistake? Though? Jay?
- 32:57Speaker 2: I think so?
- 32:57Speaker 1: You think so? I mean because they didn't do more.
- 33:00Speaker 1: It was a shock, like you know what, we'd be
- 33:03Speaker 1: wanting surprises and we finally got one.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I think with the sena whole entire run, they just
- 33:08Speaker 2: needed to play it, like play the hits, like yeah,
- 33:12Speaker 2: it's like it's John Cena in your life.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Play the dude.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Just play the hits, win the rumble, make everything, and
- 33:18Speaker 2: any of the in between matches make him super nostalgic
- 33:21Speaker 2: tier tier jerkers, you know.
- 33:24Speaker 1: I mean, they kind of fumbled that, And then I.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Just feel like too with like Jay, like he has
- 33:31Speaker 2: to be pretty gassed by the time it gets to
- 33:33Speaker 2: the ring every time because that fucking entrance to work
- 33:37Speaker 2: out it is real Cardio in.
- 33:40Speaker 1: The stairs like it's it's card It's it is, like
- 33:42Speaker 1: I'll give him a little credit on that, Like he
- 33:44Speaker 1: does that for the people, Like he could be like,
- 33:46Speaker 1: let's just flip it and I'll just come down to
- 33:48Speaker 1: the no, But he does that for the people. I
- 33:50Speaker 1: just and then the same people will be like you guessed.
- 33:53Speaker 2: I just wonder how long, like because I just saw
- 33:55Speaker 2: them do it with him and Jimmy, and it was
- 33:57Speaker 2: like it didn't feel like it hits as as it
- 34:01Speaker 2: feels like I don't know how you take that lightning
- 34:05Speaker 2: in a bottle with a wrestler who probably is like
- 34:07Speaker 2: an icy champ. Yeah you know, yeah, and keep because
- 34:13Speaker 2: he was selling so much merch.
- 34:15Speaker 1: It's the merch man, like he's so popular. Like people all.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Complain, but when you're at the show, the kids love.
- 34:21Speaker 1: They run it back. They want the interest over and
- 34:23Speaker 1: over again, like so you gotta but that could be
- 34:27Speaker 1: I see, like you don't have to put them to
- 34:29Speaker 1: the top of the card to do that, and you'll
- 34:31Speaker 1: still sell merch.
- 34:32Speaker 2: And you know, I mean, look at how prominent like
- 34:35Speaker 2: Domin is right now. Yeah, you know. And it's like,
- 34:39Speaker 2: I mean, I think that the trip has been dope
- 34:43Speaker 2: the way that they're kind of like.
- 34:45Speaker 1: I hate that. I hate the only WW guys really
- 34:47Speaker 1: get over over.
- 34:48Speaker 2: There, but liked Americanos fucking lit.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Like they all get over it and now they're booing
- 34:53Speaker 1: their own guys freaking Vikingo had to turn like it's
- 34:57Speaker 1: it's kind of.
- 34:58Speaker 2: It feel like the most over guy where there's miss Iguana.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Mister Iguana is a vibe.
- 35:03Speaker 1: They should have done more with Finn when he did
- 35:05Speaker 1: that demon puppet.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Oh, I thought that shit was dope. I bought it
- 35:08Speaker 2: and then they never I'm glad that they're Like Finn
- 35:11Speaker 2: needs I mean I saw like it was ten years
- 35:14Speaker 2: ago that he wanted to title and I was like, damn,
- 35:17Speaker 2: Finn needs it needs a run, bro, Finn was the
- 35:19Speaker 2: number Like when my kid was like a little kid
- 35:21Speaker 2: back then for his birthday, he fucking painted his face
- 35:23Speaker 2: like Finn Balor and like.
- 35:25Speaker 1: That was so over, dude, and he still is.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Like people still love well they brought that honestly then
- 35:30Speaker 2: bringing back that fucking song.
- 35:32Speaker 1: I hope it stays so too. I feel like he
- 35:35Speaker 1: needs to go through some things like looks like Cody
- 35:37Speaker 1: did where they made a break up, the fucking he
- 35:40Speaker 1: kicked out the squad like that needs the.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Needs to Like they've teased so many breakups.
- 35:46Speaker 1: But they've been there the longest faction but he's had
- 35:49Speaker 1: in a long time.
- 35:50Speaker 2: And like look very successful. Yeah they all get all
- 35:54Speaker 2: going gold. Yeah Damie Yeah, I think obviously Damian Priest left.
- 35:58Speaker 2: I think they've kept it fresh.
- 36:00Speaker 1: May have man, every edge was I forgot. They were
- 36:03Speaker 1: like Devil worshipers for a minute and then they were
- 36:04Speaker 1: like a biker club.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very confusing.
- 36:07Speaker 1: It got weird. But I think Finn needs to get
- 36:09Speaker 1: kicked out maybe at Mania. I think it's I.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Think they I think that's the match for Mania.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Dom and Finn or Icy.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Yes, I'm here for it.
- 36:20Speaker 1: I saw somebody meme where they were, and I think
- 36:22Speaker 1: I think Ray mysterio with Dom because they do it
- 36:25Speaker 1: every Mania, so they're gonna figure out some way.
- 36:28Speaker 2: I think Finn wins though, and if he doesn't win,
- 36:31Speaker 2: or that he doesn't win, he's kicked out. I think
- 36:33Speaker 2: Ray comes through and turns fucking heel and like helps
- 36:38Speaker 2: Dom win and retain.
- 36:40Speaker 1: You're talking crazy.
- 36:41Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Bad guy Ray.
- 36:43Speaker 3: He's the greatest babyface. All the kids love him. He's
- 36:47Speaker 3: never been a bad guy never.
- 36:49Speaker 1: That's fun.
- 36:49Speaker 2: I mean you know if you know anything about that.
- 36:51Speaker 2: They're just down to throw any ship at the wall
- 36:53Speaker 2: to see if it sticks.
- 36:54Speaker 1: I mean I can't.
- 36:56Speaker 2: But is Dom is Dom is like as babyface as
- 36:59Speaker 2: you can get while being a quote unquote heel.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Yeah, he doesn't really do anything that's heeler's except to
- 37:05Speaker 1: hate his dad.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Like you know, people love him.
- 37:07Speaker 1: People love him. That's gonna be a big turn too
- 37:10Speaker 1: when they if they eventually kick him out of this squad.
- 37:12Speaker 2: I'm glad they got Omas Krack in two in Mexico.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, they got so much talent, so now they
- 37:17Speaker 1: have places to use the talent, which is really cool
- 37:19Speaker 1: and it makes you want to watch every show. Now,
- 37:20Speaker 1: I'm you gotta watch NXT, you gotta watch Triple A.
- 37:22Speaker 1: You gotta because guys just pop up and do really
- 37:25Speaker 1: dope stuff. So it's a good time to be a
- 37:27Speaker 1: wrestling fan. Yeah aw, aw's popping right now. Kenny is
- 37:30Speaker 1: about to be back on his game, The God of
- 37:34Speaker 1: Professional Wrestling Kenny by God Omega.
- 37:37Speaker 2: So TNA's on anas. I don't really watch it, but
- 37:41Speaker 2: you know, I'll get to it. I just watched stuff
- 37:43Speaker 2: on Twitter. Yeah, yeah, I mostly catch a lot of
- 37:45Speaker 2: the Yeah TNA, I'm like, it's too much.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Wrestling, man, It's wrestling every day of the week. Like
- 37:48Speaker 1: I can't.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I got a family dog for sure. Hey, we
- 37:53Speaker 2: gotta wrap up this interview another one presented by Hard Dann.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Baby you already know what it is. Shout out to
- 37:58Speaker 2: Harden for presenting another episode of the bootle Like podcast.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Don't forget when you're in Vegas, you're getting that tax.
- 38:03Speaker 2: You getting that uber say, take me to Harden, the
- 38:06Speaker 2: number one cannabis dispensary in the world, premium selection of
- 38:10Speaker 2: the craziest gas you could ever ask for, And then
- 38:12Speaker 2: they break down all what all the turps mean? It's incredible.
- 38:15Speaker 2: Go to Harden Underscore Las Vegas, shoot them a follow
- 38:18Speaker 2: and when you're in Las Vegas and make sure you
- 38:20Speaker 2: shoot them a visit. All right, So the are you
- 38:22Speaker 2: gonna do any special? Like obviously if I'm sure you
- 38:27Speaker 2: guys are planning like some vinyls Grammy the Grammy Edition
- 38:30Speaker 2: vinyls for this album.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Actually yes, like that, the vinyl is coming, the original
- 38:34Speaker 1: press is coming. But yeah, we're gonna slap something special
- 38:37Speaker 1: on it, maybe some maybe some new songs, new artwork.
- 38:40Speaker 1: At least put a sticker like Grammy Edition. You know
- 38:43Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So yeah, I love collectibles and like
- 38:46Speaker 1: this this moment is creating a lot of collectibles for me.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Like we did a special limited gold shirt colorway where
- 38:52Speaker 1: it was like all right, like we want to celebrate
- 38:54Speaker 1: this moment as much as possible because somebody wrote it
- 38:57Speaker 1: to my attention, Like Grammy Nominated never goes away, Like
- 39:00Speaker 1: whether it's two years, three years, later, you're still Grammy nominated, bro,
- 39:04Speaker 1: Like it's.
- 39:05Speaker 2: A Grammy nominated.
- 39:07Speaker 1: They have to say it. You gotta say the whole
- 39:09Speaker 1: thing like a Grammy Award winning. Let's gone.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Then you just take that motherfucker with you everywhere, Yo, everywhere.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna be like, you want what you say? You
- 39:22Speaker 1: want to see my Grammy? Like no, I didn't say
- 39:24Speaker 1: that at all, Like what do you say grammy? Somebody
- 39:28Speaker 1: say Grammy because I got one right here, like it
- 39:30Speaker 1: would be everywhere with me. I'm gonna put it on.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Like now, you can't put it on the chain. You
- 39:35Speaker 1: can't do that.
- 39:35Speaker 2: I think that's I mean, look, probably could, but it
- 39:38Speaker 2: probably would not be very comfortable.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I heard it's a violation. Then they'll take it back.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Like really, Kanye Piston one you put in.
- 39:46Speaker 1: They probably don't want it back. Now.
- 39:49Speaker 2: I've seen people use them as ash trayes.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Wow, that's pretty gangster though. I mean, you can't wear
- 39:54Speaker 1: it out in public doing something defaced to it.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Oh that makes sense, you don't want to like, yeah,
- 39:58Speaker 2: they got their brand, yeah yeah, brand guidelines.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Well I'll find out all the guidelines on February first,
- 40:04Speaker 1: when you tune in for Music's Biggest night on CBS.
- 40:09Speaker 2: How do you like your chances?
- 40:11Speaker 1: Man, any man with two hands has a fighting chance,
- 40:16Speaker 1: and so I believe that I put up a fight
- 40:18Speaker 1: anything else in that category. You know what's really dope
- 40:21Speaker 1: is there's one other hip hop cat in the category,
- 40:24Speaker 1: Future who did a record with his daughter, and Felix
- 40:26Speaker 1: makes one of the records. I'm actually featured on it.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Oh, so you might win, like I.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Got chances now, So I love it, and I love
- 40:35Speaker 1: all the nominees. Man, They're all really good records for
- 40:38Speaker 1: different reasons. So, but that being said, I'm very biased,
- 40:41Speaker 1: but I do think I have the best record, But
- 40:45Speaker 1: I like my chances. But that's not best. Isn't what
- 40:48Speaker 1: determines this, it's you know what I'm saying. Yeah, And
- 40:51Speaker 1: so you have to realize that and be like, this
- 40:53Speaker 1: doesn't This doesn't take away the hard work you put in.
- 40:56Speaker 1: It doesn't take away the talent or the skill you have.
- 40:58Speaker 1: By not being nominated, people get mad about being snubbed.
- 41:01Speaker 1: It doesn't mean your record wasn't good, right, It just
- 41:03Speaker 1: means people a couple people didn't vote for it, you know, Like,
- 41:06Speaker 1: so I know that we put our foot and ankles
- 41:10Speaker 1: in this record, so I can live with that. I'm
- 41:13Speaker 1: already a winner. I'm already a winner because I'm on
- 41:15Speaker 1: the bootleg cap.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Show What if you had to? Because I I think, uh,
- 41:21Speaker 2: I think obviously Kendrick's probably taken home everything.
- 41:25Speaker 1: They just announced the Clips performing, so well, that's my thing,
- 41:29Speaker 1: is like take that.
- 41:30Speaker 2: I kind of hope. I mean, look, I love the
- 41:35Speaker 2: Kendrick album, but I think Clips's album is better. But
- 41:37Speaker 2: it's a moment but but Kendrick, But Kendrick had such
- 41:41Speaker 2: an insane year that is I just don't know. I
- 41:43Speaker 2: don't know if, like most people would even like bat
- 41:47Speaker 2: and I to vote for anybody else.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's kind of how.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Because I'm looking, I'm looking at Calshie. You could bet
- 41:53Speaker 2: on the Grammys.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Oh, everybody's been talking about this Cauci, so you can bet,
- 41:57Speaker 1: Like did they show you the odds?
- 41:58Speaker 2: Yeah, So it's like there's seventy six per chance Kendrick
- 42:00Speaker 2: wins Best Rap Album, but Clips wins.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Okay, and that they both up for Album of the
- 42:07Speaker 1: Year and Rap Album.
- 42:08Speaker 2: I think they're just both up for rap album.
- 42:11Speaker 1: I feel like one and one gets the other Album
- 42:15Speaker 1: of the Year. So I think gn X gets album. Yes,
- 42:21Speaker 1: if they're both in both categories, I feel like they
- 42:24Speaker 1: could split it.
- 42:25Speaker 2: But could you That's the thing though, how do you
- 42:27Speaker 2: win best rap album and not? But but then no, yeah,
- 42:30Speaker 2: how do you do you lose the album? Right, you
- 42:32Speaker 2: don't have the best rap album? It doesn't make sense.
- 42:34Speaker 2: But you know what it's votes, so it don't have
- 42:35Speaker 2: to make sense. I mean, he did put out one
- 42:38Speaker 2: song last year and was like this, so it's kind
- 42:41Speaker 2: of crazy.
- 42:42Speaker 1: The line of the Drake Kendrick battle that's going to
- 42:44Speaker 1: live forever, it's I mean, there's a couple from Kendrick,
- 42:48Speaker 1: but the line from Drake is Kendrick just opened his
- 42:50Speaker 1: mouth right now because it's true, like no, like amongst
- 42:58Speaker 1: everything else. I think that's the line of Drake's where
- 43:00Speaker 1: it's like it's true.
- 43:02Speaker 2: But I mean, listen, I think gn X is an
- 43:05Speaker 2: incredible body of works, great record. I think I think
- 43:08Speaker 2: it's a classic. I just think his best album, and
- 43:12Speaker 2: I think for me, i'd say to Paper Butterflies best album.
- 43:17Speaker 2: But I do think gn X is in the conversation
- 43:21Speaker 2: because it is there's like the conceptual ship, but this
- 43:25Speaker 2: is the most like I feel like commercially palatable record
- 43:28Speaker 2: he's had where you just throw it on and like
- 43:30Speaker 2: it's just something bump.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Yeah. Just I like it. It's very West Coast, like
- 43:34Speaker 1: he had a firm plan and stuck to it and
- 43:37Speaker 1: just was like, I'm just make bangers.
- 43:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I love it. I thought the album was incredible,
- 43:40Speaker 2: So shout out to Kendrick. I think whoever. I think
- 43:43Speaker 2: as long as it's Kendrick Tyler or Clips that wins
- 43:46Speaker 2: Wrap Album of the Year, I'm like, eah, those three
- 43:48Speaker 2: from a.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Great album too. Yeah, I think.
- 43:50Speaker 2: But I think Jid's album is like a like a
- 43:52Speaker 2: little like below those.
- 43:54Speaker 1: That's fair. And as I've learned the Grammys a little bit,
- 43:57Speaker 1: I've studied every trend. I've looked at every like, well
- 44:00Speaker 1: maybe this happens. People tend to go with familiarity, yeah.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Because there's a lot of people who have votes who
- 44:06Speaker 2: don't know anything about this shit, and they're just.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Like it is like I know that guy.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Oh, Kendrick Lamar, Yeah.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Taylor Swift, I know that you know so, and I'm
- 44:14Speaker 1: not gonna lie. I used to do that when I
- 44:15Speaker 1: first started. I was like, well, I don't know this guy,
- 44:16Speaker 1: but I know that name, and now like I actually listen,
- 44:19Speaker 1: and they've actually done a better job with that because
- 44:21Speaker 1: in the voting they have a listening center right next
- 44:23Speaker 1: like literally right next to the name, there's a play
- 44:25Speaker 1: button and you could it'll open your Spotify so you
- 44:28Speaker 1: can listen to it while you're voting, So like you
- 44:30Speaker 1: can actually make an educated.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Inform who you voted for.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Nope, oh you know what I will say one me,
- 44:39Speaker 1: that's obvious. I can't say I had. That's so funny. Man.
- 44:42Speaker 1: I had a Rolling Stone article that was about to
- 44:44Speaker 1: go to print and the guy was like, well, yeah,
- 44:46Speaker 1: just can you talk about like who you voted for?
- 44:48Speaker 1: And I was like nope, So article didn't happen, but
- 44:52Speaker 1: yeah you people like yeah, I wouldn't like, no, you
- 44:56Speaker 1: shouldn't talk about who you voted for, right, I mean,
- 44:58Speaker 1: country would be in a better place if people didn't
- 44:59Speaker 1: talk about who they voted for.
- 45:02Speaker 2: All the like sports writers and shit, they all they
- 45:05Speaker 2: kind of say who they vote for. They do, Yeah,
- 45:07Speaker 2: you'll watch like these guys have podcasts.
- 45:12Speaker 1: A man, they shouldn't sell that because then now you
- 45:14Speaker 1: look like biased, you look like a hater. Like it's yeah,
- 45:17Speaker 1: like I think it should be private, like your vote
- 45:19Speaker 1: is your vote, like it's your personal thing, Like it's
- 45:22Speaker 1: a decision that has to be made, And so people
- 45:25Speaker 1: were like, what have you ever Like he was kind
- 45:27Speaker 1: of asking me, like, have you ever voted for independent artists,
- 45:30Speaker 1: you know, like smaller artists thinking they could have a chance,
- 45:33Speaker 1: or do you feel like when you vote, he don't
- 45:36Speaker 1: have a chance. So let me just go with the
- 45:37Speaker 1: big guys. And I'm like, I don't think that's a
- 45:40Speaker 1: way to vote, Like you vote for what you think
- 45:41Speaker 1: is the dopest record of the year, you know, is
- 45:44Speaker 1: it going to be really hard on a year that
- 45:46Speaker 1: Kendrick drops? Yes, should you maybe hold on to your
- 45:50Speaker 1: album if Kendrick drops? Maybe you know what I'm saying
- 45:54Speaker 1: because or same with Taylor Swift, like go get out
- 45:57Speaker 1: the way, like because you know that that's that storm
- 45:59Speaker 1: is kind of coming. And even at a small level,
- 46:03Speaker 1: I was on the same label with Bizarre Face when
- 46:05Speaker 1: they put out a record, and my dude was like,
- 46:08Speaker 1: get out the way, like I think zar Face is
- 46:10Speaker 1: gonna pop and so don't drop anything, like you.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Know, and they've kind of done their own version of
- 46:16Speaker 2: like the nerd Ship where it's like there's like the
- 46:20Speaker 2: artist is as important to the group. Is it's about
- 46:23Speaker 2: the collective.
- 46:23Speaker 1: The art, yeah, yeah, the collecting that yeah, Like they've
- 46:26Speaker 1: built collectibles into it, and so it's a great, great thing.
- 46:29Speaker 1: That's what I wanted to do. I just didn't have
- 46:31Speaker 1: the budget for it. Like I want toys, I want
- 46:32Speaker 1: a megaanto.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Because like the dude who does all the art is
- 46:35Speaker 2: like a part of the group, right, is he a
- 46:37Speaker 2: part of Sarvi? That's what I heard. I have like
- 46:39Speaker 2: Marvel people like ex Marvel people drive drawing. Really, I
- 46:42Speaker 2: always thought somebody had told me that, like there's like
- 46:44Speaker 2: a main artist who, like there could be who drew.
- 46:47Speaker 1: The original logo maybe and does a lot of work.
- 46:49Speaker 1: I'm not sure that's so I'm an hitch you up
- 46:51Speaker 1: and ask you about that. Shout out to our face.
- 46:53Speaker 2: I think my prediction is Kendrick wins Best Rap Album,
- 46:56Speaker 2: Best Album of the Year, and then Clips wins for
- 46:58Speaker 2: Chains and Whips.
- 47:00Speaker 1: I was about to say Clips are up for a
- 47:02Speaker 1: couple of other things, up for best Video, They're up
- 47:04Speaker 1: for a few other things, So I do think that'll
- 47:07Speaker 1: get spread around. They're not leaving it.
- 47:08Speaker 2: They or they win. I think they might the John
- 47:11Speaker 2: John Legends.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Is that's a good like all right, we can check
- 47:14Speaker 1: off both because Kendrick's on it, so we're like, oh yeah, Kendrick,
- 47:18Speaker 1: all right.
- 47:18Speaker 2: Bam is the John Legend record nominated? The Birds Don't Sing?
- 47:22Speaker 1: Is that like sung?
- 47:23Speaker 2: Rap could win too?
- 47:24Speaker 1: They could? That's a great song. Yeah, to start off
- 47:26Speaker 1: the album with that, It's just like wow, bro, I
- 47:29Speaker 1: was like almost in tears from the beginning of that record, like, man, powerful,
- 47:33Speaker 1: powerful music. Man just say hip hop can't make you cry?
- 47:36Speaker 2: Was that your favorite album of last year rap album?
- 47:39Speaker 1: Well, that would imply that I voted for it, so
- 47:41Speaker 1: I cannot speak on that. But I do think it's
- 47:43Speaker 1: a really good album. No, that's not true, because.
- 47:46Speaker 2: There was albums that came out from September to December
- 47:49Speaker 2: twenty four.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Dayla Soul's my favorite album of this year.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Great album.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Love that record and like the whole Massifield roll I's
- 47:56Speaker 1: been crazy.
- 47:57Speaker 2: But I think day Law is the best one.
- 47:59Speaker 1: I think. I was about to say, I think it's
- 48:00Speaker 1: but the Mob one is really good too.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Album is right there.
- 48:03Speaker 1: There's some good stuff. I still go back to the
- 48:05Speaker 1: Supreme Clientele too, the Light Years. I'm still playing it.
- 48:10Speaker 2: So yeah, that's the Light Years. The production disappointed me
- 48:12Speaker 2: a bit. Man.
- 48:13Speaker 1: People have been trying to disrespect Primo and I'm not
- 48:16Speaker 1: disspecting him. I'm just now need to stop it.
- 48:18Speaker 2: I just like, damn, what would this have sounded like
- 48:20Speaker 2: fifteen years ago when they really should have did this?
- 48:22Speaker 1: And then he listened to like the Ransom and Primo
- 48:24Speaker 1: album and you're like, oh, these beats. I wonder what
- 48:27Speaker 1: would have happened if if he was on these, you know.
- 48:29Speaker 1: So it's like, it's not that Primo can't do it,
- 48:30Speaker 1: it's just maybe what they picked that you maybe disagree
- 48:33Speaker 1: with now.
- 48:34Speaker 2: But I do think the two best albums out of
- 48:35Speaker 2: those were Dayline Mob Deep.
- 48:37Speaker 1: That Daylight record. It doesn't leave my rotation. Man, it's
- 48:41Speaker 1: so good, so great.
- 48:43Speaker 2: Yeah all right man, well listen, you're hopefully going to
- 48:46Speaker 2: be getting a Grammy trophy soon.
- 48:48Speaker 1: I'll bring it back next time you do.
- 48:50Speaker 2: You still do your wrestling podcast.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Once in a while, man, shout out to the matt
- 48:53Speaker 1: Mania homies. I pop up on people's podcasts now. I'm like,
- 48:57Speaker 1: you know what, I don't want to produce a podcast,
- 48:59Speaker 1: but I will appear on your podcast. So that's basically
- 49:02Speaker 1: what I do. I'm on the Bumps and Bruises pot
- 49:04Speaker 1: with a couple of my homies and so yeah, I
- 49:07Speaker 1: just I pretty much every week I do on Twitch,
- 49:10Speaker 1: I do Monday Night ran and that's just me just
- 49:12Speaker 1: popping up talking about wrestling, and so yeah, I'm always like,
- 49:16Speaker 1: if somebody wants to talk wrestling, I will talk wrestling.
- 49:20Speaker 2: What about do you do any of the streaming where
- 49:22Speaker 2: you game? And like people, Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 49:24Speaker 1: We play Mega Man, we play two K, we play Fortnite.
- 49:27Speaker 1: I played so much stuff. And then I'll do talking
- 49:31Speaker 1: streams talking streams team that seemed a little better, Like
- 49:33Speaker 1: people just want to ask questions, they want to be
- 49:35Speaker 1: a part of the show. And when you're gaming, it's
- 49:38Speaker 1: like I'm focused, I'm locked in, so I can't really,
- 49:40Speaker 1: you know, communicate as much. So the talking streams team
- 49:43Speaker 1: to do better. But I stream. It's like I think
- 49:45Speaker 1: about three hours a day during the week.
- 49:47Speaker 2: What do you do you prefer people stream the album
- 49:49Speaker 2: or is there a way people can just go direct
- 49:51Speaker 2: to you and by and support them with their pot
- 49:54Speaker 2: however you like.
- 49:55Speaker 1: But honestly, band camp is great because you can pick
- 49:57Speaker 1: your own price it's the highest quality mus You're gonna
- 50:00Speaker 1: get the high quality waves or flak or whatever you want. Also,
- 50:04Speaker 1: the money comes directly to me. Also, I think band
- 50:06Speaker 1: camp gives you the best percentage as an artist. But honestly, man, however,
- 50:10Speaker 1: you can get the music Spotify, Apple, Title, Deezer, whatever,
- 50:14Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. Like, what's important is you listen to it,
- 50:17Speaker 1: because I think even if you don't have kids, I
- 50:20Speaker 1: think it's a record that you can pick up something from.
- 50:22Speaker 1: It's good hip hop. It's hip hop mixed with jazz,
- 50:24Speaker 1: mixed with sky, mixed with reggae. Like I've had fun
- 50:27Speaker 1: with so many different genres, and it's important like messages
- 50:31Speaker 1: in it, you know what I'm saying. So I think
- 50:33Speaker 1: that people can pull something from it. I got friends
- 50:35Speaker 1: and be like, yo, I ain't even got no kids, man,
- 50:36Speaker 1: but I love these Buddies records. Like so, I think
- 50:39Speaker 1: it's just it's well mixed. Shout out to Felix, and
- 50:42Speaker 1: it's just it's just good music, you know. Like I
- 50:45Speaker 1: understand you have to put genres limitations on things. And
- 50:47Speaker 1: what I love about the Children's Grammy genre is that
- 50:51Speaker 1: there's no genre attached. So there's a hip hop album.
- 50:54Speaker 1: There's a folk album, there's singer songwriter, there's jazz, there's
- 50:58Speaker 1: story books. You know what I mean. There's so many
- 51:00Speaker 1: things that can be considered children's right.
- 51:03Speaker 2: Well, listen, go support Finyl coming soon.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Vinyl's coming soon. You can go pre order it now
- 51:08Speaker 1: Mega ram music dot Com goes right to my band camp,
- 51:11Speaker 1: which is the best place to get it. Shout the
- 51:13Speaker 1: needle Juice Records. They're printing those up. They're really cool
- 51:16Speaker 1: splatter design. It looks really good and it could be
- 51:20Speaker 1: a part of history, man, part of history.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Are you strictly independent now? I am no.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Actually, well, I've started my own company through through a
- 51:28Speaker 1: good homie at Old Soul Music, So I run HYPERCMBO.
- 51:32Speaker 1: So I run my own label through UH through another
- 51:34Speaker 1: company with distribution, and so I'm always looking for projects too,
- 51:38Speaker 1: So like, if there's anybody out there I like, I
- 51:40Speaker 1: like producer projects. So like, if you got beats that
- 51:43Speaker 1: are really interesting and cool, I would love to help
- 51:46Speaker 1: people put those out, Like I want to help artists
- 51:48Speaker 1: get their dreams out too, So hit me up about Hypercombo.
- 51:51Speaker 1: If you got some some fun, smart, kind of left
- 51:54Speaker 1: of center weird rap, albums or projects. You know what
- 51:57Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like I can, I can help at least
- 52:00Speaker 1: with my little bit of whatever I got in resources
- 52:03Speaker 1: when if something excites me like I would love to
- 52:05Speaker 1: help out. So yeah, hit me up.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Go support the Grammy nominated album Buddies Magic Treehouse and
- 52:12Speaker 2: I hope you win, sir.
- 52:13Speaker 1: Let's go. I appreciate that, my friend. Thank you. Yeah,
