A brand new $55 million Stead Elementary School just opened in Washoe County, replacing the original 1958 building in under two years. Designed for 700 students from pre-K to fifth grade, it features modern classrooms, a STEAM lab, and even preserved historical elements like the original dedication plaque and carved stone nameplate. The project used massive amounts of materials — miles of pipes, tons of concrete, roofing that could stretch 12 miles — plus over 200 new trees.
