Latest / J&B Live Podcast / When Strangers Cheer Louder: Why Your Circle Stays Silent
Transcript
- 0:00All right. Thank you guys for joining us this evening.
- 0:05Thank you for being a part of the J&B family.
- 0:10Before we get started, I want you to go ahead and drop your city and state and
- 0:16let us know where you're from.
- 0:17We've got an interesting topic for you. This is one that's probably going to,
- 0:22ruffle some feathers tonight. We're talking about why people support strangers,
- 0:28but won't support the people that they know.
- 0:31You know, some of you may feel the exact same way. You often get support from
- 0:35complete strangers instead of getting support from those you know.
- 0:42Particularly your family and your friends.
- 0:44Okay? So, welcome.
- 0:47Go ahead and drop that city and state, as I mentioned earlier.
- 0:51This is going to be another powerful episode of the JMU Live podcast.
- 0:56We're going to tackle conversations that people are thinking about,
- 1:00but sometimes they just hate to say it out loud, but we're going to say it out loud.
- 1:04So tonight we're discussing something that can affect entrepreneurs,
- 1:09families, it can affect friendships,
- 1:12the different relationships, whether it be family and friends,
- 1:16churches, creators and everyday people that are trying, they're out here trying,
- 1:20y'all, to build something meaningful.
- 1:22Have you ever noticed that sometimes the people that are closest to you will
- 1:29watch every single thing you
- 1:31do, see how hard you work, know exactly what you're trying to accomplish,
- 1:37but still never support you?
- 1:40It's a shame. It's like they say, it's a low-dying, dirty shame,
- 1:45yet complete strangers, people that you don't even know.
- 1:49Personally, will often support you in the biggest way.
- 1:54So why does this happen, people? Why did we not get support from those that
- 1:58are closest to us? Is it jealousy?
- 2:01Is it familiarity? Is it competition?
- 2:05It could be that they don't even want you to succeed, or is it simply human nature?
- 2:11Tonight, guys, Broker J3 and I are asking that uncomfortable question that everybody
- 2:18has experienced at some point in their lives.
- 2:20Why do strangers often support you more often than the people that know us best?
- 2:28Let's talk about it, Broker J3. All right. Welcome, everybody. Broker J3 here.
- 2:34As Doc B said, you know, that's an amazing topic that we're talking about today because.
- 2:39We realize, and I'm sure you guys do as well, a lot of people tend to support
- 2:45strangers, get support from strangers as well, more than they do from the people that they know.
- 2:51Me and Doc B know that firsthand. A lot of our day ones are not even our closest
- 2:56friends. Yeah. But nonetheless, let's talk about why does this happen so often?
- 3:01Dr. B, I think almost everybody listening tonight has experienced this,
- 3:05as I just said a moment ago.
- 3:06I think so. You start a business, you launch a project, you write a book,
- 3:10you create content, like me and Dr. B, and you chase your dream.
- 3:14And suddenly, people closest to you, they become very quiet.
- 3:18They don't even support you.
- 3:21And what makes this so frustrating is that these are the same people,
- 3:24guys. These are the same people that, you know, say they care about you or they'll
- 3:29use that term, they got you. You know, oftentimes they'll tell you that. They love you.
- 3:35They tell you that they support you. But when it comes time to actually show
- 3:38some support, guess what?
- 3:41Silence. You can hear a pin drop.
- 3:43That's exactly what they do, Doc B. You know, somebody can know you for 20 years,
- 3:50but never buy a single product that you sell.
- 3:53Never share any of your content that you post. Never attend any event that you
- 3:58have and that they've been invited to.
- 4:01And never tell anybody about what you're building.
- 4:04Now, one thing I can say about me broke day three. I'm going to get this out the way off the rails.
- 4:10I'm going to support everybody and I'm going to give everybody an opportunity.
- 4:14It's just like when somebody posts something, I don't mind sharing it because
- 4:19I know that I want somebody to support me. So I'm going to treat people like I want to be treated.
- 4:25Yes, I am. So let's think about this, guys. Sometimes you can have complete strangers online.
- 4:32It's like we got a lot of fans. I can name several of them that was supporting
- 4:37us day one back in and out, in and out.
- 4:39But, you know, family members, friends not tuning in.
- 4:43They don't know some of these strangers that we're talking about.
- 4:46They don't know our history.
- 4:48They don't know how we started. But somehow they see the value in what we do,
- 4:54faster than the people who have known us for years. Exactly, Dobby.
- 4:57Let me see the stand real quick, Dobby.
- 5:00Now, I think about familiarity, how it changes perception. You know,
- 5:06let's talk about how it changes perception.
- 5:08You know, sometimes people know us for so long that they stop seeing us grow.
- 5:14And I don't know if that's, you know, if you think that's what it is,
- 5:19you know, I think they may remember who we were.
- 5:22You know, they're looking at the past. Maybe some of them are looking at how
- 5:26we grew up. They still see us as a childhood friends or they remember us from back in the day.
- 5:31They do that instead of recognizing who we are becoming and how we're trying
- 5:36to grow. They don't see that part of us.
- 5:38And that's sad. I totally get you.
- 5:42Big shout outs to everybody that's joining us tonight make sure you guys drop
- 5:45your city and state in the comments and let us know where you guys are coming
- 5:49from we have a few people that done joined us verily maris.
- 5:56Sim all right thank you for joining us solomon mitchell thank you guys for being
- 6:03i think that's plug saying
- 6:05saying thank you for being a part of the jmb family we appreciate your support
- 6:10guys we may not be getting our family and friends support but
- 6:14we appreciate your support we really do so thank you so shout out to you tonight
- 6:19for those of you who are joining us drop your city in the comment your city
- 6:23and your state in the comment section for us okay all right guys so,
- 6:27and if you've ever felt unsupported by people close to you i want you to tap
- 6:33that screen let me know because i want you to know that you've experienced the
- 6:37same thing I have. If you've experienced.
- 6:40Not feeling supported by the people that are close to you. I want you to tap
- 6:44yes in the screen and let me know.
- 6:46All right. Sim said he's from Baltimore, Maryland. Hey, Sim.
- 6:50Welcome. 99 Lane Cornball.
- 6:53Okay, guys. Let us know if you've ever felt unsupported by people that are close
- 6:58to you. I'm talking about people who say they got you, but they don't support
- 7:02you at all. Yeah. But they got you, though. So tap that screen.
- 7:06Yeah. If I had a chance, I'd be just tapping like crazy right now.
- 7:09I would. It's tapping like crazy right now. Yeah.
- 7:13Anyway, guys, let's talk about the people watch. You know, we're talking about
- 7:16the people that watch you but never engage.
- 7:19You know, I'm going to tell a true story real quick, you know,
- 7:22on the same topic, believe it or not.
- 7:25I had a friend of mine. He used to be my best friend.
- 7:28And we parted ways probably about four years ago.
- 7:32He's just a low-down, dirty dog. I'm just going to put it like that without,
- 7:35you know, saying the wrong words.
- 7:38But I noticed the other day, you know, some apps, platforms letting you know
- 7:44who's watching you. Who's following you, yeah.
- 7:46And he's on my page. Okay.
- 7:49So, you know, of course, yes, I did block him. But it's just the fact that it
- 7:53just goes to show with this topic on this section that we're dealing with right
- 7:57now, how people watch, but they never engage.
- 8:00Let's talk about it, Doc B. Okay, let's talk about this social media.
- 8:03Yeah because this is where people really
- 8:06notice the pattern okay that's what we're talking about broker j3 so don't forget
- 8:11guys stop that city and state and let us know where you come where you're from
- 8:15i want to know we want to know where you're chiming in from okay
- 8:19so we can give you that special shout out sam i am and t and tj and johnny that's
- 8:25not the tj you were talking about i home,
- 8:28okay no that's somebody completely okay okay.
- 8:35All right, so this part right here, again, it's going to hit home for a lot
- 8:40of people. Yeah, because somebody can watch every single thing you post.
- 8:44And there's somebody out there, guys, believe me.
- 8:46You all know it. Yeah, there's somebody that's following you,
- 8:49that's watching every single thing that you do.
- 8:51They're looking at every single video, every live stream, every update,
- 8:56and they're looking at all of your successes. They're looking at it now.
- 8:59Now, they may not hit the like or the love or nothing, but they know what's
- 9:04going on with you. You better believe that.
- 9:07That's right. They sure do. But they never hit that like button, as Doc B said.
- 9:11Okay. Sam says, some people are in your corner, so they have a front row seat
- 9:18to see you. Yeah, that's true. To see you struggle. Yeah.
- 9:20And someone want to see you fall. Yeah. That's what they're saying.
- 9:23Oh, she ain't going to do nothing. Yeah. That's what they do sometimes.
- 9:27Okay, guys. But, you know, they never like, they never comment either.
- 9:31And they never share. They ain't sharing. And then guess what?
- 9:34They never engage. They never engage. I'm saying to myself, you could at least
- 9:38drop a heart or something. Yeah, but you know what? A like or something.
- 9:42This is what gets interesting right here. The same person will support complete
- 9:48strangers online every single day.
- 9:51People that they don't even know.
- 9:53That's what kills me, which makes people start asking a dangerous question.
- 9:58What question are they asking, Broker J. Why are you watching me but refusing to support me?
- 10:03Say it again, Broker J. Why are you watching me but refuse to support me?
- 10:08You know how many people come in the live and they'll sit there and watch,
- 10:12and some of them will be watching the whole episode. They don't tap that screen.
- 10:16They don't send a gift. They don't even comment, but they're there the whole time.
- 10:21You know, most of these platforms let you know the people that stay with you
- 10:24from the time you went live to the time you go off.
- 10:27So we see it so often. It's just so weird how that happens. Yeah.
- 10:31And then sometimes silence speaks louder than words. It really does.
- 10:35Because let's think about it. You know they're there, but they're there just
- 10:38watching and not seeing or not liking anything that you do.
- 10:42That's right. Okay, guys. So Tatiana, thank you for joining us.
- 10:46Real man, we appreciate you. Thank you for those gifts. We appreciate you.
- 10:49Thank you for following us We will follow you back And go ahead guys,
- 10:55Terminator Go ahead and drop.
- 10:58If this has happened to you before, guys, where you're not getting support,
- 11:02it could be anything that's going on in your life from the people that say they got you.
- 11:07I want to know. Yeah. And welcome, Real Man Backstage. Thank you so much for
- 11:13joining the J&B Live show.
- 11:14So have you guys ever had people close to you watch your journey but never support you?
- 11:21Put a yes in the comments if that happened to you. Let us see.
- 11:25Let us see. Put a yes in the comments.
- 11:27I probably had to put 10 yeses. I know, right? You know, that won't even scratch the surface of it.
- 11:33Okay, guys. So does success make people uncomfortable?
- 11:37Does really your success make people uncomfortable? I think that's what it is, Dot B.
- 11:43They don't want you listening to me. I think when you're succeeding past where
- 11:47they are, they tend to get to a certain point.
- 11:51Hold on this sounds like a this sounds like an interesting topic that a lot
- 11:55of people can relate to and sometimes you're absolutely right sim is this this,
- 12:01this topic hits home like we said for a lot of people because there are a lot
- 12:05of people that's on social media
- 12:07content a lot of people starting businesses and it is just so amazing
- 12:11because when you first start your business or start pushing your content the
- 12:14first thing you do is call your family and friends hey
- 12:17i got a podcast You know, this is when I'm live Please, you know,
- 12:21subscribe, join You know, the support Or better yet, guys, not just for social
- 12:26media It could be a new job I got a new job
- 12:29I got promoted You know, you want people
- 12:33that support you To be
- 12:35in your corner, guys That's what you really want,
- 12:38Okay, guys, so go ahead and drop that like, that share, and subscribe,
- 12:42and let us know what's going on with you guys.
- 12:45All right, you know, because, you know, some people, they want access to you,
- 12:50but they don't actually want to see you win.
- 12:54Go ahead, Broker J3. I can't believe that they don't want you to win.
- 12:59That's a powerful statement. Very, very powerful.
- 13:03But, you know, people celebrate you as long as they feel comfortable around you.
- 13:08But once your growth starts changing your life and you start surpassing them,
- 13:13some people get uncomfortable real fast.
- 13:16OK, guys, because your success forces people to look at their own choices.
- 13:21And that's sad to say, you know, I think people should support each other on
- 13:26in every different aspect.
- 13:28Just like for us, we've been talking about the podcast that we have and family
- 13:33and friends not getting the support. I have maybe one or two that may support me every now and then.
- 13:38But you ain't even got to listen to the episode you can turn it on you can listen
- 13:42to the audio it's several different things that you can do yeah you don't have
- 13:45a comment just listen to it turn it on yeah.
- 13:49And, you know, that's just how it is, Doc B. You know, your discipline becomes
- 13:53a reminder of their lack of discipline. That's really what it is, Doc B.
- 13:58Yeah, yeah. Okay, guys, so your consistency, guess what? It can become a reminder
- 14:03that they've stopped pursuing their own dreams.
- 14:05And that's sad because if they want to do something, they should pursue their
- 14:09dreams. But that doesn't mean that they can't support me.
- 14:12Yeah, but instead of celebrating your growth, Doc B, they distance themselves
- 14:17emotionally. Okay. And sometimes, guys, that support disappears when progress becomes visible.
- 14:23Just like, for instance, you know, even though we have a podcast,
- 14:27and I'm using that because that's the primary focus right now,
- 14:30they can even ask, how's your podcast going? They don't even ask.
- 14:35And Sim said, if it is a podcast, they can share it as well as word of mouth,
- 14:40best form of advertising.
- 14:42You know, let me tell you something, Sim. I totally agree with you.
- 14:45Like, here's an example.
- 14:47You know, me and Doc B, we're older people. You know, it's evident, you know.
- 14:51But we connect to a lot of people. Now, can you imagine some of our children,
- 14:58you know, the millennials that have so many people following them on their social platforms.
- 15:04It's amazing that you can't get the support from your own children to share the.
- 15:10You know, your live or to push your podcast out so more of their friends and followers can follow.
- 15:18And then, see, this is the key to it. Even if they don't really want to follow,
- 15:22but if they push it out, maybe their friends, family members would want to follow us.
- 15:28And, you know, what we talk about on our podcast. That could be embarrassing,
- 15:31Dr. B. Well, no, we don't care nothing about doing anything.
- 15:33No, no, no, no. That could be embarrassing. Can you imagine if you go over your
- 15:38friend's house and like, yeah, I just, I just saw your uncle's podcast.
- 15:42It was fire, man. Did you see the episode when they was talking about it?
- 15:45Yeah, well, that's embarrassing because they're not watching it.
- 15:47They're not watching it, so they don't know anything. Yeah, but not only do
- 15:51we discuss, we have topics that relate to 50 and over, but we have topics that
- 15:57relate to everyone, that everybody can get involved in and engage in.
- 16:00So it's not age-specific at this time.
- 16:04And actually, guys, our demographics or our analytics actually show that our
- 16:10audience is actually from age 25 to 45.
- 16:14Now, we do have older people that watch us, but from 25 to 45,
- 16:18that's our core audience. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's true. That is true.
- 16:22So, you know, we're just sharing with you guys because we're talking about.
- 16:26You know, why we don't get the support.
- 16:29But some of you may be experiencing other things. it doesn't necessarily have
- 16:33to be social media podcasts or whatever it could be anything else in your life
- 16:38that's going on but you're not getting that support from the your loved ones
- 16:42the ones that say that they love you and the ones that are always talking about
- 16:46they got you that's what they usually love to use all the time but they don't
- 16:49got you they don't have you they don't they're not supporting you because
- 16:53they're not re and you know,
- 16:56involved in your rejoicing in your accomplishments. I'm going to use that term.
- 17:02Or they're not supporting you and try to help build your content.
- 17:05I'll be real quick saying get a little plug and plug your thing up real quick.
- 17:09If I had a chance before we get to the next section, why do we celebrate celebrities
- 17:14more than people we know?
- 17:15Yeah, it's over on the side, I'll be. Okay.
- 17:19Yeah. urgent. No, for your laptop. For your laptop.
- 17:23Yeah. Alright, guys. Give us just a... It's on the floor, baby.
- 17:29Just give us just... No, no, no. No, no. Just give us... You have to go around.
- 17:33Give us just a moment, guys.
- 17:35Apparently, one of our laptops' battery is going low. We realized we didn't
- 17:40have it plugged up, so we don't want to disappear on you guys.
- 17:47So we appreciate you know your support all right guys thank you so much uh,
- 17:53for that short technical break all right so anyway again dot v so let's get
- 17:59into again why do we celebrate,
- 18:04celebrities more than the people that we actually know let's talk about that
- 18:09okay let's ask the question why do people spend money,
- 18:13supporting several celebrities every single day yeah i don't know you know if
- 18:18a celebrity is marketing a particular product listen they're gonna buy it listen
- 18:22dot b i don't i don't been on vigo i don't been on on on tiktok,
- 18:27and i've seen where you had celebrities that came on,
- 18:31and people are sending,
- 18:33uh uh gifts they're they're they're they're sending trophies they They're sending
- 18:38all kind of gifts that's flying all across the screen for these people that's rich.
- 18:44They got plenty of money already.
- 18:47They may never even see these people in person, ever.
- 18:51But the people that they know, they don't send them anything.
- 18:55You'll be lucky if they even tap the screen. I know, right? You know,
- 18:59but they won't support the local people they personally know.
- 19:02And that's what the issue is, Dot B. And just think about it, Broker J3.
- 19:06People buy concert tickets all the time they buy these tickets to get in these
- 19:11clubs 30 and 40 dollars just to get in the club okay yeah seeing say in today's
- 19:17time i think people spend more time
- 19:19on their phone than they do with people they know yeah you're right sim you
- 19:22know it's funny because we actually talked about that in about two podcast episodes
- 19:27that we had so you need to make sure that you go to
- 19:30at live with jmb on youtube sim.
- 19:33And subscribe because we have so much content i think you would absolutely love
- 19:37some of our content that's there and you're right dr b and they'll buy these,
- 19:42expensive merchandise and tickets and stuff like that,
- 19:46and then they support million dollar brands these people already got plenty
- 19:50of money but you won't even spend money on us
- 19:52or your family and friends to support them they buy all them products and don't
- 19:56mention them designer bags don't mention that now you don't want me to go there
- 20:00they buy all them products from
- 20:02them uh influencers yeah yeah they sure do and don't let them see the newest
- 20:06trend on tiktok they're gonna buy that too
- 20:09okay but won't spend ten dollars.
- 20:12Supporting somebody that they personally know and this is sad guys and like
- 20:16i said this is going to hit somebody some of you may be in that category when you're doing that
- 20:21but we're just keeping it real we're keeping it real raw and relevant and we're
- 20:25telling the truth it is what it is and i'm not gonna lie,
- 20:28you know i support family members that don't necessarily support me the same,
- 20:33now i may go to their their site they may be live i'll throw them some gifts
- 20:39You know, tap the screen as much as I can and I might be gone.
- 20:43But I support because I know what they're trying to do.
- 20:46Now, I do have some family members. They're like my day ones.
- 20:49Yeah, they are. He does. They're always going to be there. And if they realize
- 20:54we are live, they are going to jump on live to make sure they support.
- 20:58You know, one of our supporters, Miss Empowered, if she was available right
- 21:03now, if she was live, she'd be our number one gift supporter.
- 21:07Because she tries to make sure that nobody outdo's her every time that she's
- 21:12online with J&B Live. And, you know, those are the kind of things that make
- 21:15you say, OK, I appreciate it. Thank you so much, you know.
- 21:19And that's why what Sam just said is this is why black businesses are struggling
- 21:24because black people just don't know how to support black people.
- 21:28They just don't do a good job of it.
- 21:30And if we were to use our buying power, especially black women.
- 21:36Especially black women, We could control the narrative every single time.
- 21:40At one time, our communities held its own.
- 21:44We bought from each other. You may have,
- 21:48a barter you may have a korean a hair store or or a chinese restaurant in your
- 21:54neighborhood and you'll go support them,
- 21:57they may cuss you out talk trash to you but you'll keep going back buying that
- 22:01food buying the hair buying the products
- 22:04but then when a black person opens up a shop nail shop or whatever oh y'all
- 22:09too expensive oh y'all this here but you you want a discount from the black
- 22:13people but you'll go to the nail shop and pay 120 for your nail for your feet and nails, but,
- 22:20if the black shop told you, hey, $100, can you give me a discount?
- 22:23You know, we don't support each other like we really should.
- 22:27And, you know, hopefully we'll get back on track on that one day. Yeah, I hope so.
- 22:33And a lot of people say that they don't do that because black prices are too high.
- 22:36But just imagine if we all bought from black-owned businesses,
- 22:41that would bring the price down.
- 22:43You know, the thing is, sometimes people value popularity.
- 22:47More than the relationship they have with people. And then people get impressed
- 22:52by status rather than by substance.
- 22:54That's what's happening to a lot of us. That kind of mindset,
- 22:57Dr. B, it destroys communities. Yeah, so we've got people watching from all

- 23:30Yeah, we appreciate it, guys. Hey, we love the comments you guys are giving
- 23:34tonight. We appreciate the interaction. Thank you guys so much.
- 23:37So if this conversation is hitting you, you know, hit that share button right
- 23:42now because somebody needs to hear this discussion.
- 23:44We really appreciate it. And shout outs to our top gifters.
- 23:47So, you know, guys, you know how J&B Live has been doing it since day one.
- 23:52We support our top gifters. So make sure everybody that's in the live right
- 23:57now, go to the top of the screen, hit that top gifter button,
- 24:02and make sure you follow.
- 24:04We like to make sure that we support our top gifters and help them to grow their
- 24:08communities as well. So now let's get into this.
- 24:13Let's get into this. Stop expecting support from everybody. Yep.
- 24:17We know that. That's what you're going to have to do because you're going to
- 24:20realize no matter what you do, whether it's a business or whether you,
- 24:24you know, you got a new place, you know, whether you, you know,
- 24:28you became a content creator.
- 24:30You're going to realize, hey, everybody's not going to support you.
- 24:33So stop expecting that support from everybody. Everybody not going to bask in
- 24:40your accomplishments. They're not going to be happy for you. I don't care who it is.
- 24:45Everybody is just not happy for you. Everybody not happy when you succeed. Yeah.
- 24:50That's the part of life. And Sim, you're right.
- 24:53Those companies, they take from our community and they don't give back.
- 24:58Yeah. You know, you won't see them shopping at our shops.
- 25:01That's right. You won't see them coming to our stores.
- 25:04Yeah. They will not spend money in our neighborhood. They'll go spend it in
- 25:08theirs, but not ours. You're so right about that. And then this is what gets
- 25:12me now. I'm just telling you guys, I told y'all we're keeping it real.
- 25:15You know, I love to get my nails done. What average female, black female,
- 25:20don't like to get her nails done?
- 25:22All nationalities, really. But I'm speaking particularly about the black female
- 25:26because we known for getting our nails done.
- 25:30We get our nails done by the Asians most of the time to have the nail shops.
- 25:35But guess what? They live in.
- 25:37In a rich area while most of us are struggling. And their shops are in poor areas.
- 25:44And be in poor areas, but some of them in nice neighborhoods as well.
- 25:48But the key to that is they're not pouring back into your community.
- 25:52They're not doing that, Dobby. They're not doing that. You know,
- 25:56I've learned something important over time, you know.
- 26:00And it's you really, again, like this particular section talks about,
- 26:05you really have to stop expecting support from everybody.
- 26:08You know, it don't matter whether
- 26:10it's family, friends, or people that you think love you or support you.
- 26:14You have to stop expecting that and just tell yourself, I'm going to keep doing
- 26:18this regardless, regardless who supports me.
- 26:22Okay, guys. So I want you to explain exactly, go into a little bit more detail about that. Okay.
- 26:29Well, first of all, you have to stop building expectations, Dot B,
- 26:32around people simply because they know you. Yeah. You know, just because somebody
- 26:37is family, it doesn't mean that they understand your vision or even want to
- 26:41be a part of it. Yeah. They don't really know.
- 26:43And just because somebody is your friend doesn't mean they value what you're
- 26:47trying to do. They don't, they don't, they may not value what you're trying
- 26:51to build. Of course not, Dr. B.
- 26:53And disappointment comes when they expect loyalty simply because of a relationship
- 26:59title. Oh, that's my cousin.
- 27:01Oh, that's my brother. Oh, that's my uncle. That's my auntie.
- 27:04Well, that's what gets me, Broker J3.
- 27:06You building, and then they didn't support you while you're on your way to the top.
- 27:11But once you get to the top, then where they at?
- 27:14Yeah. Then they claim, that's my cousin. I did this and I did.
- 27:19Ain't did nothing support you along the way.
- 27:21Why don't you put me on your podcast? You know, we network now.
- 27:26Why don't you put me on your podcast?
- 27:28Yeah, but they want to glorify. They want to be a part of your accomplishment
- 27:34or your success when you get to the top.
- 27:36But they help you build nothing. And this is what gives me something.
- 27:40And sometimes strangers become your tribe faster than your family. And Sim said that.
- 27:43Sim says, someone said, families and friends won't support you until they see
- 27:48strangers celebrating.
- 27:50And that is so true that that that is so true
- 27:56oh gosh sim you hit it on them that's why we're having this conversation today
- 28:00support is not always connected to proximity that means that it doesn't matter
- 28:06whether people are close to you or not
- 28:08support don't necessarily come from the people that are the closest to you well
- 28:11you know i've said it on another podcast episode,
- 28:16Okay, guys, this is one of the very important lessons of life.
- 28:21That a lot of people can't digest. Sometime your people that you don't know,
- 28:26that's not a part of your family, can be closer to you and treat you better than your own family.
- 28:33I'm just keeping it real. I hate to break that down to some people,
- 28:37but some people have probably already experienced that in their lives.
- 28:41But some people are closest. I have some friends that are just as close to me as a sister.
- 28:47Yeah. Sometimes it does not necessarily mean that you have to be blood for somebody
- 28:52to treat you well. It's powerful. Sometimes they treat you better than your
- 28:55own family. It's powerful.
- 28:57Yeah. OK, guys. So that's a lesson that people learn painfully,
- 29:02unfortunately. OK, so let's let's get into this.
- 29:06So let's. So even though we know that people are not going to support us.
- 29:12Everybody ain't in your corner, right? Regardless of whether how close we think
- 29:16they are or related, whatever the case may be. What do we do after that?
- 29:22So, guys, ask yourself, so what do people do when support never comes?
- 29:27What if that support never comes from that family or friends that say they love
- 29:34you and say that they got you?
- 29:36You have to keep building anyway, Doc B. You got to. You can't stop.
- 29:39You have to keep building. You cannot stop because your family and friends do
- 29:42not support you. You cannot stop your dream, your vision, because your family,
- 29:47your friends do not support your vision. Okay.
- 29:51Even when your family and friends, they stay silent. They don't say nothing.
- 29:56Keep building. They don't do no likes. Keep building.
- 29:58No shares. No subscribe. No heart. Keep building.
- 30:02Even when nobody shares your work. Keep building. Okay.
- 30:05Why? Why broken track? Why must we keep building? Because sometimes success
- 30:10is built by strangers who simply believe in your value.
- 30:15In your value before people close to you ever do.
- 30:19And that's a shame, but that is the truth. So guys, never stop simply because
- 30:25support doesn't come from the expected places. Those expected places are your family and friends.
- 30:31If they don't support you, you keep moving. You keep it moving and you keep
- 30:36building and you stay focused. That's right, Dobby.
- 30:39Keep moving into the right people. Find what you built.
- 30:42That's exactly right. So guys, we had a real engaging conversations.
- 30:47I'm so glad you guys stuck around for this conversation.
- 30:51So shout out to every entrepreneur out there. Shout out to all of you creators,
- 30:56business owners. We got ministry leaders and dream chasers. Those of you who
- 31:01just recently got promoted for whatever reason. Say this and you bought your new house.
- 31:06Keep building. Keep it moving. Don't worry about them haters that's not supporting
- 31:12you. That's right, guys. And if nobody told you today,
- 31:16J&B Live is telling you right now, keep going.
- 31:21Keep going. Keep it moving, guys. Don't stop. Don't stop. Okay,
- 31:25guys, tonight's conversation reminds us.
- 31:28It's very important to me. This is one of the episodes that really touched me and it hit home.
- 31:34You know, when we bring you these topics, like I said, we believe in keeping
- 31:38it raw, real, and relevant.
- 31:40But guess what, guys? it's a learning process for us. And sometimes, guess what?
- 31:44We get hit too. We get hurt too because of the fact that we see ourselves in this conversation.
- 31:51And we fall victim to some of this in the process.
- 31:55So it's not all about educating you, but it's about us growing as well.
- 32:00So guess what, guys? It reminds us that support does not always come from those
- 32:04familiar places. The one that love us, the ones that we think should have our
- 32:08back or say they have our back.
- 32:10We should see value because they remember old versions of who we used to be.
- 32:16But that should never stop our progress, guys.
- 32:18Learn to appreciate those genuine supporters, no matter where they come from.
- 32:23Guys, I want you to continue building. I want you to continue growing and never
- 32:28allow Disappointment to kill your purpose Stay in the game guys,
- 32:34Keep building Keep growing I just totally agree with everything you just said
- 32:39guys Sim says sometimes with family And friends and even strangers They may
- 32:43want to support Can't support at that time You know what,
- 32:47we totally understand But I'm going to show you,
- 32:52If you had somebody That was on live right now And said he couldn't send a gift,
- 32:57You know, you know what they can do that's free? They can tap that screen. Yep.
- 33:01You know what they can do that's free? Share. They can share the lie, you know?
- 33:04So it's things that they can do, but they just don't.
- 33:10If you have an opportunity to do something that's free and you don't do it,
- 33:14you know, you can't tell me, well, I didn't have any money to send you anything.
- 33:20Well, of course, you didn't have any money to send me anything,
- 33:22but you didn't tap the screen.
- 33:24You didn't share the lie. you know and these these uh these platforms they show
- 33:29us who share the line yeah they show us who like they show us who's tapping
- 33:33the screens so if you tell me i ain't got no money so i couldn't i couldn't uh you know,
- 33:38send you a gift but i didn't see you tap the screen yeah and guess what broker day three sometime
- 33:45and i'm just gonna add this before your final thoughts the uh hearts and some
- 33:49of the gifts that they may give they ain't but like a couple of dollars not even that.
- 33:57Much not even that much most of the people that own these platforms already
- 34:02know that most of them gives not even,
- 34:05at all that much money you know and it's just so strange because here's an example today,
- 34:12today our top gifter is Sim he's our top gifter today I think let me let me,
- 34:19let me see Sim is our top gifter today Sim is our top gifter,
- 34:23today is sim's first time joining
- 34:24us yeah i don't remember ever seeing sim before today he joined us today,
- 34:29he followed us and then he just told us live with jmb and he's gonna subscribe,
- 34:36now he said he was gonna do that we've never seen sim before and he's our top
- 34:40gifter today but yet we have family and friends that had that that don't have
- 34:46subscriptions which are free come,
- 34:50on now They said, come on, y'all.
- 34:51So here's my final talk. Let me take a drink real quick.
- 34:58Okay, here's my final thought, guys. You know, I want everybody that's listening
- 35:03tonight to remember one thing.
- 35:05Stop measuring your worth by who refuses to support you.
- 35:12Sometimes people closest to you are not aligned to help or build your future.
- 35:21Strangers may become the biggest supporters because they see something valuable.
- 35:28Before familiar people recognize it.
- 35:32Keep working, you know, keep growing, keep believing.
- 35:38And understand that silence from others, it does not mean failures, guys.
- 35:44Sometimes it simply means that your journey requires a different audience.
- 35:49Oh, God, I like that last one. I like that last one.
- 35:52Meaning it requires a different audience. Okay, Rob Jones says, are you two preachers?
- 35:57No Rob I am a retired educator I say this Rob you know it's strange that you
- 36:04say that you know my father is a preacher so,
- 36:09oh lord oh lord I'm trying to tell you it is what it is that's funny Rob though
- 36:15take another drink Rob that's funny.
- 36:19Okay guys thank you thank you this has been a powerful episode.
- 36:25This was a learning experience for me. I hope you guys learned a lot as well.
- 36:31It's all about, for me, it's about growing. This is why we decided to do this
- 36:36podcast, because we wanted to empower and engage others.
- 36:40In the process, we wanted to learn ourselves. And this is one of the episodes
- 36:46I mentioned earlier, guys, that hit home for me. I learned a lot.
- 36:49And it's not always learning about other people. It's also learning about self.
- 36:55This is what you're doing. You're protecting self. You want peace.
- 36:58And sometimes when you know better, you do better. Yeah. Okay.
- 37:01And guys, I can contest Dot B, you know, when we, you know, was talking about
- 37:08the podcast, putting it together, you know, she was not ready to do it.
- 37:15I wouldn't say this. No, let me take that back. It's not that she wasn't ready.
- 37:19It's just, it just wasn't something that she was thinking about doing.
- 37:23It's a priority. She's been used to talking to literally thousands of college
- 37:28students on a college campus without a thought in mind.
- 37:33But when it came to seeing herself, you know, on that screen and in front of
- 37:38thousands of people, you know, that just wasn't her thing.
- 37:41But as you guys see, you know, Dot B, Ben Pat, came out of that shell a long time ago.
- 37:48I hear you. A long time ago she came out of that shell. So, nonetheless,
- 37:53guys, we want you to keep on liking, and we appreciate it so much. Keep on sharing.
- 37:59And for you guys that's new to JMB Live, make sure you please,
- 38:03please, please go over to At Live with JMB on YouTube.
