Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: This media podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia.
- 0:12Speaker 1: This is the only game show where conservation always wins.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I'm your host, Spencer new Arth, and today we're joined
- 0:17Speaker 1: by Steve Yannis cal Randall, Brody and Seth. This is
- 0:22Speaker 1: episode one of the twenty twenty four Meat Eater Trivia Championship.
- 0:27Speaker 1: This year's championship is unlike any we've done before. There
- 0:30Speaker 1: are no playing games. Instead, we have the six players
- 0:34Speaker 1: here who average the most points per game in twenty
- 0:37Speaker 1: twenty four. This championship will span three episodes. Whoever has
- 0:41Speaker 1: the most points after thirty questions will be declared the
- 0:44Speaker 1: twenty twenty four Meat Eater Trivia Champion.
- 0:48Speaker 2: So it's not clear how close was number seven?
- 0:52Speaker 1: Number seven? Oh so Seth Mabercont. He was the sixth
- 0:56Speaker 1: person in the room, and then we had Nate Corey
- 0:59Speaker 1: and Hansei.
- 1:00Speaker 3: So Seth's not just down here hanging out.
- 1:01Speaker 1: No, he's He's in the top six.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I've burned up. Congratulations, Seth.
- 1:06Speaker 1: He talked about it before the mic. Seth could either
- 1:08Speaker 1: be the small fish in the big pond, which is this,
- 1:10Speaker 1: or he could be the big fish in the small pond,
- 1:12Speaker 1: which is the Jabbroni's pool. So he said he likes this.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Why is that, Seth? Why do you like being the
- 1:17Speaker 1: small fish in the big pond?
- 1:18Speaker 4: Because I have room to grow?
- 1:19Speaker 1: That's right, he's got room.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Picture how you thirty three picture? When he's my age,
- 1:25Speaker 3: he'll he'll he'll like be a trivia dominator because he's
- 1:28Speaker 3: gots absorbed more shit.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Uh huh he does. I don't know if we have
- 1:31Speaker 1: twenty years of this show to go, but.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Like, theoretically sure, who did Seth beat out?
- 1:38Speaker 1: He beat out Nate who was seventh, Corey who was eighth,
- 1:41Speaker 1: and Hansi who was ninth. So Seth just made the cut.
- 1:46Speaker 1: The episodes matter then for the rest of the year,
- 1:48Speaker 1: So keep that in mind when we're playing trivia. I
- 1:50Speaker 1: don't want to make the cut for the championship.
- 1:53Speaker 5: He's his name boldly.
- 1:56Speaker 2: That's what Spencer likes.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Uh, what's your problem with Nate?
- 2:00Speaker 3: So you know he like corrected me about that. You
- 2:03Speaker 3: can't say over. I don't know if you heard like,
- 2:05Speaker 3: you can't say over and out? Are you aware of this? Okay?
- 2:08Speaker 3: Everybody says over and now.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Some people have emailed me about this to the Trivia inbox,
- 2:11Speaker 1: as well.
- 2:12Speaker 3: You can't say over and ow okay he told me
- 2:14Speaker 3: about that.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Uh huh?
- 2:15Speaker 2: Are you gonna explain what? I don't know? If you're
- 2:19Speaker 2: like you need though, there's.
- 2:21Speaker 6: A gajillion little kids running around with walkie talkies being like.
- 2:25Speaker 3: There's people that watched all those seventies movies about truckers
- 2:28Speaker 3: that say over now. So on radio etiquette, when I
- 2:32Speaker 3: say over, I'm saying I'm done talking, go ahead, right out,
- 2:38Speaker 3: I'm gone leaving the conversation. So over and out as
- 2:42Speaker 3: you're saying I'm done talking, go ahead, I'm gone. It's
- 2:45Speaker 3: not a thing you can't say over and.
- 2:47Speaker 6: Out, as in, if they were to say something yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 6: so how already, how would you communicate that I am
- 2:54Speaker 6: done talking and I am leaving the conversation.
- 2:58Speaker 3: It's not over to you. If let's say you're a
- 3:01Speaker 3: weather guy and on news we're news show, and you're
- 3:03Speaker 3: with the weather guy, and I go over to you, Yanni,
- 3:06Speaker 3: I wouldn't then cut your camera off.
- 3:10Speaker 1: All right now throw it back to me, Steve, What
- 3:13Speaker 1: do you mean say you do? Do the thing to
- 3:15Speaker 1: be like, oh, what our problem is? No, just be
- 3:17Speaker 1: like over, well, you can tell the problem, yeah, go ahead.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Well. Then he also pointed out that a compliment sandwich
- 3:22Speaker 3: is not named properly because the compliment is sitting between
- 3:25Speaker 3: insults and a ham sandwich. Where does the ham sit.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Between the bread and the bread?
- 3:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it's an insult sandwich.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Oh okay.
- 3:35Speaker 3: And he was texting me there and he was saying correction. Well, no,
- 3:43Speaker 3: just like a little problem I have with him. He
- 3:44Speaker 3: was texting me the other day and he said something
- 3:47Speaker 3: like Roger. He said, like, Roger, come, we'll see you then. Okay.
- 3:54Speaker 3: He did that two weeks ago, and I made a joke,
- 3:56Speaker 3: don't call me Roger, to which he didn't reply.
- 4:00Speaker 7: He's never seen an airplane, so he did such a kid,
- 4:03Speaker 7: and he says, he said something like Roger.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Sounds good. I texted him again, thinking he missed my
- 4:09Speaker 3: joke the first time, and I said, don't call me
- 4:13Speaker 3: Roger the fun person. He comes up to me and says,
- 4:17Speaker 3: I see that you're doing a thing about this Roger thing.
- 4:23Speaker 3: I'm not replying to it. I just don't think it's funny.
- 4:29Speaker 1: That's why Nate's not here today.
- 4:31Speaker 3: I wish she was here. I would beat him.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I like Nate. Nate really knows the way to Steve's heart.
- 4:38Speaker 3: He does.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yeah. I feel like, yeah, you really appreciate people that
- 4:42Speaker 2: come at you like Nate. Nate does.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Yeah. He introduced himself by it telling correct to me
- 4:46Speaker 3: about something. Okay at the free table. I was at
- 4:49Speaker 3: the free table.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Were you giving or taking?
- 4:51Speaker 3: He just comes by and goes, you know, no, he
- 4:53Speaker 3: just told me something that did that was wrong.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Again, it's quite the relation and ship YouTube built.
- 5:01Speaker 3: And one last quick thing, there's a little tension. I
- 5:03Speaker 3: didn't know this either, did you know, Just like a
- 5:05Speaker 3: Marine Corps army thing with him.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And Chili don't like it, okay, huh, well, I.
- 5:13Speaker 6: Think Nate's an officer, right, yeah, that's.
- 5:17Speaker 5: And he's like clean cut and Chili's kind of got
- 5:19Speaker 5: the bad boys that are going right now.
- 5:22Speaker 3: They're a natural foils. There's a real swing and.
- 5:26Speaker 2: The tension, uh, you know, come out and.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I think Steve's made the tension.
- 5:32Speaker 6: I was gonna say, I bet we can make it.
- 5:34Speaker 6: This is if Alex has got involved because he's a
- 5:37Speaker 6: Marine Corps m I'll have to ask, all right, now,
- 5:40Speaker 6: you throw it back to me, Steve, say.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Go right.
- 5:43Speaker 1: The entire championship. I'm a sponsored by Athletic Brewing, who
- 5:48Speaker 1: have met who will be matching Meat Eater's donation and
- 5:51Speaker 1: sponsoring three moneyball questions. He went, what do you got? Okay,
- 5:55Speaker 1: I'm gona throw it to Steve real quick, over to
- 5:58Speaker 1: Steve perfect right now, you can bring it back to me. H.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Well, I gotta say something. I like their chilada nada.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 6:06Speaker 3: It's like a mechilada chilada whatever. Yeah, with no alcohol.
- 6:11Speaker 3: That's my drink, dude, big fan. Then I don't have
- 6:13Speaker 3: one in my hand right now, but that's my drink all.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Right, over back to me.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Uh.
- 6:16Speaker 1: The winner will get to choose where the three thousand
- 6:20Speaker 1: dollars donation goes. The biggest in Meat Eater Trivia history,
- 6:24Speaker 1: and combined with the moneyball questions, this year's championship has
- 6:27Speaker 1: a donation potential of four thousand, five hundred dollars. Give
- 6:31Speaker 1: it up for Athletic Brewing for their continued support a
- 6:34Speaker 1: Meat Eater Trivia and conservation. Yeah, three thousand dollars donation
- 6:40Speaker 1: with potential for fifteen hundred more.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Are you gonna give the winner a T shirt?
- 6:45Speaker 1: Well, you get your name on the plaque that we
- 6:48Speaker 1: have outside of the studio here in our green room.
- 6:50Speaker 1: It's got Brodie's name on it. It's got Steve's name
- 6:52Speaker 1: on it.
- 6:53Speaker 2: No one looks at that plaque.
- 6:54Speaker 1: We're gonna add a third name.
- 6:55Speaker 3: They don't you know what we should do?
- 6:58Speaker 2: You know how like.
- 7:01Speaker 6: Memorial gardens and stuff like that around towns, you can
- 7:04Speaker 6: like sponsor a bench's that's what we should do.
- 7:09Speaker 1: A billboard. Maybe let's go bigger than that, a whole billboard.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Oh we have that one bill we over that's right,
- 7:16Speaker 3: all right.
- 7:16Speaker 1: For the stat of the week this week, we're looking
- 7:18Speaker 1: at last year's performance in the Mediater Trivia tournament. Steve won,
- 7:21Speaker 1: getting sixteen of twenty questions forrect Tough one. Brody finished
- 7:25Speaker 1: in second with fifteen points, Randall and third with thirteen points,
- 7:29Speaker 1: Giannis and fourth with eleven points, and Seth and fifth
- 7:32Speaker 1: with ten points. That was what we're going off. Last year.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Steve got eight correct in each episode.
- 7:39Speaker 7: Gat going with the proper name today, huh oh wow,
- 7:42Speaker 7: let do proper game.
- 7:43Speaker 2: And he's all right.
- 7:45Speaker 1: For today's I FAQ, I want to address a previous
- 7:48Speaker 1: I faq. Someone asked, what's the weirdest question I've ever gotten,
- 7:52Speaker 1: to which I explained how strange it is that about
- 7:55Speaker 1: fifty people have sent me faxes. Well, a dozen of
- 7:58Speaker 1: you wrote in with this same explanation for why that
- 8:01Speaker 1: might be. Apparently, the Amish and Mennonite communities use a
- 8:05Speaker 1: service that converts a fax to an email. This is
- 8:09Speaker 1: referred to as Ifax, and it bridges the gap between
- 8:12Speaker 1: those without internet and those with Internet. Typically it's used
- 8:15Speaker 1: to conduct business or in this case, send emails to
- 8:18Speaker 1: a podcast. And that brings me to my next question,
- 8:21Speaker 1: which is how are these folks listening to the podcast
- 8:24Speaker 1: without Internet? Well, there's a sneaky phone service out of Johnstown,
- 8:28Speaker 1: Pennsylvania called the Podcast Reader. Here's what it sounds like
- 8:33Speaker 1: when you call that houtline. When you call that hotline,
- 8:35Speaker 1: play the.
- 8:36Speaker 8: Clip, Phil, Welcome to the Podcast Reader. ABC News Press one,
- 8:42Speaker 8: Fox News two, NPR three, SRN four, Ohio AD Report five,
- 8:48Speaker 8: Replay Recording, six, Conference Line seven, AG Commodities Pricing nine, Plain,
- 8:54Speaker 8: People in the News eleven, The World and Everything In
- 8:56Speaker 8: At twelve, Ben Shapiro thirteen, NBC Nightly fourteen, Apasa Cafe fifteen,
- 9:03Speaker 8: Chasing Giants twenty, Oster Home Report twenty one, Z Dog
- 9:08Speaker 8: MD twenty two, Trim Healthy Mama thirty, John Maxwell fifty two,
- 9:13Speaker 8: Lumber Connection fifty three, Shed Geek fifty four, Jay Scott
- 9:17Speaker 8: Outdoors fifty five, Knock on Our Tree fifty six, Meet
- 9:22Speaker 8: Eater fifty seven, Bear Grease fifty eight.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Welcome to this Country Life. I'm your host, Brent Reeed.
- 9:36Speaker 1: That's what it sounds like. If you call that outline,
- 9:38Speaker 1: that's great, and then hit fifty eight to listen to
- 9:40Speaker 1: Bear Grease.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Can I tell you my favorite Clay nukeome amage story. Yeah,
- 9:45Speaker 3: Clay's to own a magazine, Bear Hunting Magazine, and the
- 9:51Speaker 3: magazine did really well with homage hunters because there was
- 9:53Speaker 3: a print magazine. So he had an amige dude that
- 9:56Speaker 3: did his distribution in his community. And one day Clay
- 10:00Speaker 3: is trying to meet him to hand them the stack
- 10:03Speaker 3: of magazines and they're trying to coordinate a meet up
- 10:05Speaker 3: along a highway. So he's meeting the Samish guy and
- 10:09Speaker 3: the homage guy's got a driver's driving them, and the
- 10:12Speaker 3: guy's got a cell phone. Though Clay's like, Okay, we're
- 10:16Speaker 3: going to be that whatever exit, and the guys goes, Clay,
- 10:21Speaker 3: I'll meet you at the Dull superstore.
- 10:32Speaker 1: They didn't have that content available.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Said, let's just met across road and you're at the
- 10:35Speaker 3: gas station.
- 10:38Speaker 6: Spencer, I tell you my favorite facsimile story.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Yeah, so this is.
- 10:43Speaker 6: Years ago when I'm doing all things first Light and
- 10:49Speaker 6: we're in heavy in dealer sales. And when you're heavy
- 10:53Speaker 6: in dealer sales and you're opening up new dealers, you
- 10:56Speaker 6: get calls to establish credit all the time. Well, one
- 11:01Speaker 6: of our retailers had used first Light as their credit
- 11:07Speaker 6: reference to open up terms with a competing hunting clothing manufacturer,
- 11:14Speaker 6: a big one.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Okay, and I'm not totally falling. Explain this again.
- 11:19Speaker 6: So you're a hunting dealer, right, Like the way a
- 11:22Speaker 6: lot of these things work is you don't pay for
- 11:24Speaker 6: the clothing as soon as it comes in. You get
- 11:27Speaker 6: net terms, so you get thirty days upon receipt of
- 11:31Speaker 6: the goods to pay and ideally, in the retailer's world,
- 11:37Speaker 6: you've sold enough of those goods to pay for that
- 11:41Speaker 6: wholesale markup er good portion of it in that time. Now,
- 11:45Speaker 6: the bigger you are, the more terms, the more favorable
- 11:50Speaker 6: terms that you can demand, you know, like ninety day,
- 11:52Speaker 6: one hundred and twenty day. But you got to start
- 11:56Speaker 6: somewhere and you do these like credit checks. Right. So
- 12:01Speaker 6: one of our dealers had used first Light as their reference.
- 12:05Speaker 6: So a very large hunting clothing manufacturer, their credit department
- 12:13Speaker 6: or or accounting department, called me and they in order
- 12:21Speaker 6: to establish who we were, they said, yeah, do you
- 12:26Speaker 6: know this dealer? Like, yep, we work with them. Okay,
- 12:29Speaker 6: how much are they buying from you?
- 12:34Speaker 8: You know?
- 12:34Speaker 6: And that's just like something that you don't reveal when
- 12:36Speaker 6: you're competing businesses, right, And I was like, I can't
- 12:40Speaker 6: tell you that, but you know, guy's a good guy.
- 12:44Speaker 6: And they're like, well, that doesn't cut it. And they
- 12:46Speaker 6: kept pressing and pressing and pressing, and then she became
- 12:49Speaker 6: very demeaning. It was like, well, you guys must be
- 12:52Speaker 6: so small and you don't know how business works and yeah,
- 12:57Speaker 6: and I was laughing to myself but being polite. And eventually,
- 13:05Speaker 6: after saying how we didn't know how things work and
- 13:10Speaker 6: we were so small and all the things, she said, now,
- 13:12Speaker 6: what's your facts number? I just thought it was so
- 13:19Speaker 6: frecking funny, and I'm like, well, we do a lot through.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Digital these days.
- 13:25Speaker 6: This is just something must tiny folks do.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Did you have a fax machine? On hand.
- 13:29Speaker 6: Then we had kind of the same deal, like you
- 13:32Speaker 6: had a number that would convert the facts into an email.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:38Speaker 1: So besides the Ben Shapiro Show, the Trim Healthy MoMA podcast,
- 13:43Speaker 1: and Lumber Connections, the Amasha have access to Meat Eater
- 13:46Speaker 1: and Bear Grease. Shout out to the folks who are
- 13:49Speaker 1: listening to this exact, this exact episode via a hotline.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I'm glad you're here, and keep faxing in those questions.
- 13:56Speaker 1: All right, last thing before today, I want to hear
- 13:59Speaker 1: some predictions on who is going to be the twenty
- 14:02Speaker 1: twenty four champion. Brody, what do you think?
- 14:04Speaker 7: No, I don't make those kind of predictions.
- 14:06Speaker 1: That's you know, you got nothing.
- 14:08Speaker 7: No, I just want to know what Steve's drawing.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Steve, what are you drawing? And who do you think
- 14:11Speaker 1: is gonna win?
- 14:13Speaker 3: Well? I made my name end in a fire breathing dragon. Okay,
- 14:17Speaker 3: I ran out of space, so he's kind of puking.
- 14:19Speaker 4: Uh huh. I like that a lot.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I think that the defending champions I'd like to win.
- 14:25Speaker 3: But if I had to guess, I would guess that Randall.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Went wow, Now you didn't play a lot in twenty
- 14:29Speaker 1: twenty four you think that's gonna benefit you.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Or hurt you. No, hurt, hurt you, just a little rusty.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Cal Who do you think is gonna win this year?
- 14:37Speaker 6: I'm gonna go with Brody?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Wow? All right? Going back to the OG champion.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Did he play enough though to have have like a
- 14:44Speaker 2: minimum amount of games to qualify for this he's the
- 14:46Speaker 2: last year's champion.
- 14:47Speaker 7: It gets an Oh, that's right.
- 14:49Speaker 1: That's how it works, the master.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Yeah, that's all to say. There's something like that in golf.
- 14:53Speaker 1: You get an auto bid for Returney Randall. Who's gonna
- 14:56Speaker 1: win this year?
- 14:58Speaker 5: I said myself last year, and I didn't gonna say, uh, Steve.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Oh wow, okay, yeah, he was gonna win.
- 15:05Speaker 9: I'm going Seth, Yeah, Seth? What you got for us? Okay?
- 15:17Speaker 2: All right?
- 15:17Speaker 1: We got three votes for Seth. One final note about
- 15:20Speaker 1: the tournament. I've had all these questions fact checked by
- 15:23Speaker 1: our very own doctor, Jordan's Sillers, so I'm confident in
- 15:27Speaker 1: their accuracy and that Steve won't have any complaints. That's right.
- 15:31Speaker 1: He's our our second doctor in the office.
- 15:34Speaker 3: But it's not quite public.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Okay, all right.
- 15:46Speaker 2: The Shelby Inexpert today is a four.
- 15:49Speaker 1: So our winner should get eight correct answers, and with
- 15:52Speaker 1: that we're on to Round one of the Championship. Play
- 15:55Speaker 1: the draft. Pill need to know what I stand and
- 16:01Speaker 1: win everything.
- 16:03Speaker 3: I'm just tend to win everything.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Game on round one, Question one, the topic is biology.
- 16:19Speaker 1: This first great question is via Mitchell Prusa, and this
- 16:22Speaker 1: will be multiple choice. What do you got to see?
- 16:24Speaker 3: You always like to look up there? We shouldn't be
- 16:28Speaker 3: if I'm staring at you. The whole game shouldn't.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Have sat you there? I guess all right? What comes
- 16:33Speaker 1: between class and family in taxonomic ranking? Is it order, genus,
- 16:40Speaker 1: kingdom or phylom? Topic is biology? What comes between class
- 16:48Speaker 1: and family in taxonomic ranking? Is it order, genus, kingdom
- 16:56Speaker 1: or philom?
- 16:57Speaker 2: All right, everybody ready?
- 17:01Speaker 1: I think the batch of questions we have are on
- 17:04Speaker 1: the harder side. There will definitely be some hundred percenters.
- 17:07Speaker 1: There might be some zero percenters.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Stop the game.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Okay, we've We've got a backup mark or available for
- 17:18Speaker 1: you there. We're not going to derail the whole thing.
- 17:21Speaker 1: What comes between class and family and taxonomic ranking? Order
- 17:25Speaker 1: genus kingdom or file them?
- 17:27Speaker 7: A long time since high school biology.
- 17:29Speaker 6: I was gonna say it, but you know, the advantage
- 17:31Speaker 6: of high school is you don't think about anything else.
- 17:34Speaker 6: Your brains so much clearer.
- 17:40Speaker 2: High schooler the world.
- 17:42Speaker 6: It's like girls and nothing else.
- 17:45Speaker 1: In taxonomic rankings.
- 17:47Speaker 3: You know my high schooler one day last like when
- 17:51Speaker 3: he says, you know, I'm gonna start doing good at.
- 17:53Speaker 2: School, and like instantly started doing good at school?
- 17:56Speaker 3: What was going on? What's before? You just make it
- 18:02Speaker 3: was like it was like instant's just he's like, you
- 18:07Speaker 3: know what exactly designed that he was.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Gonna do good?
- 18:14Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have set, saying
- 18:17Speaker 1: Genus Giannis says, Genus Randall says order cal order, Steve order,
- 18:26Speaker 1: Brody order. The correct answer is order four of our six.
- 18:33Speaker 1: He's got that one.
- 18:34Speaker 7: You look at this the other way, it actually looks
- 18:37Speaker 7: like a gobbler, Like.
- 18:38Speaker 2: So, how's it go?
- 18:40Speaker 6: I think it's a dragon with acid dragons.
- 18:44Speaker 1: The hierarchy is life, domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus,
- 18:52Speaker 1: and species. Some examples of order are primates for humans,
- 18:57Speaker 1: carnivora for coyotes, and gala forms for pheasants.
- 19:01Speaker 3: You know that, how did you know that they teach
- 19:04Speaker 3: you this thing? King Philip, But I can't remember the rest,
- 19:07Speaker 3: So I knew Kingdom file them, and then I knew
- 19:10Speaker 3: what I mean.
- 19:11Speaker 1: I knew what some of that self was and he
- 19:13Speaker 1: got it right. Question two the topic is cooking. What
- 19:17Speaker 1: does m P stand for when listed as the cost
- 19:21Speaker 1: of seafood or meat on a menu? What does m
- 19:28Speaker 1: P stand for when listed as the seafood.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Or two options? For you? There there's a.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Brown and our players all look confident. This may be
- 19:39Speaker 1: a one.
- 19:41Speaker 3: You'd like to stick with. Red, I've got.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Making pasta. Oh that's what MP stands for exactly.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Now, I put military and police.
- 19:55Speaker 1: What does MP stand for as the cost of food
- 19:59Speaker 1: or meat on a menu? Is everybody ready? Go ahead
- 20:03Speaker 1: and reveal your answers. We have Seth and Yannis and
- 20:08Speaker 1: Randall cal and Steve and Brody saying market price. They
- 20:13Speaker 1: got it. The correct answer is market price accepted expensive.
- 20:19Speaker 1: No market price implies that the listed item is subject
- 20:23Speaker 1: to market fluctuations, with the cost changing on a daily basis.
- 20:27Speaker 1: It's most commonly used with lobster, crab, oyster, salmon, tuna,
- 20:31Speaker 1: and mushrooms. Besides accounting for price, the MP designation is
- 20:35Speaker 1: meant to make it seem like the menu item is
- 20:37Speaker 1: exclusive and seasonal.
- 20:39Speaker 7: The other day we ate our last chunk of king salmon,
- 20:43Speaker 7: and my boy looked up the price of a pound
- 20:46Speaker 7: of king salmon. He's like, man, we made money on that.
- 20:51Speaker 1: That's a good way to get rich.
- 20:53Speaker 3: You'll not have taken to do it because you know,
- 20:55Speaker 3: like men us are so full of it when it
- 20:56Speaker 3: comes to fish descriptions. I just know, I'm like, explain
- 20:59Speaker 3: that to me. You know when you say that it's
- 21:01Speaker 3: a whatever.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Yeah, do you get a satisfying answer every time?
- 21:07Speaker 3: Never we have, you know, New Zealand like Hawaiian. You know,
- 21:12Speaker 3: I'll text a friend like, are the blank in Hawaii?
- 21:14Speaker 5: No?
- 21:16Speaker 3: Are you sure that's what that is? Well, let me uh,
- 21:19Speaker 3: I'm not sure. Let me ask the chef.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Question three. The topic is hunting. These two words that
- 21:25Speaker 1: are used to describe moon phases imply that the illuminated
- 21:29Speaker 1: part is growing or shrinking.
- 21:33Speaker 2: You need both both words.
- 21:35Speaker 1: These two words that are used to describe moon phases
- 21:39Speaker 1: imply that the illuminated part is growing or shrinking. Some
- 21:47Speaker 1: optimistic players again, except.
- 21:50Speaker 3: For maybe Steve Well, give me a minute.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Okay, give him a minute. His question three, The topic
- 21:56Speaker 1: is hunting. These two words that are used to describe
- 21:59Speaker 1: moon phase is imply that the illuminated part is growing
- 22:03Speaker 1: or shrinking. Seth, do you have this one right? I
- 22:08Speaker 1: think so, Steve, do you have this one right? Is
- 22:10Speaker 1: everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 22:15Speaker 1: Seth saying waxing and waning Yannis and Randall and cal
- 22:22Speaker 1: and Steven Brody with the same answer. The correct answer
- 22:26Speaker 1: is waning and waxing. A waning moon is one that
- 22:30Speaker 1: is growing, while a waxing moon is one that is shrinking.
- 22:33Speaker 1: You can tell if a moon is waning or waxing
- 22:36Speaker 1: by looking at what side is illuminating.
- 22:38Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no no, what do you got waning?
- 22:42Speaker 3: Isn't that shrinking?
- 22:43Speaker 2: Yes?
- 22:44Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sorry I had it backwards. Good catch, Steve,
- 22:46Speaker 1: I didn't have doctor Jordan Siller's fact check.
- 22:48Speaker 7: Mine which one's better for killing whitetail?
- 22:52Speaker 1: You're honest, drink, I don't know. You can tell. You
- 22:57Speaker 1: can tell if a moon is waning or waxing by
- 22:59Speaker 1: looking at what side is illuminated. In the northern hemisphere,
- 23:03Speaker 1: if the right side is illuminated, then the moon is
- 23:05Speaker 1: waning or growing, and if the left side is illuminated.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Stop saying that, Yeah, you're right, I love this whole thing.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Wrong, we get it.
- 23:18Speaker 3: It's like Japanese script. You read Japanese script backwards. That's
- 23:23Speaker 3: how the.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Unless you're Japanese.
- 23:28Speaker 3: If the school listen, kids, we do it backwards.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I don't trust any of my flavor texts for this one,
- 23:35Speaker 1: so I'm just going to tell you to go read
- 23:36Speaker 1: the Wired article on me dot com called new research
- 23:40Speaker 1: confirms the moon doesn't affect dear movement. Question four. The
- 23:45Speaker 1: topic is fishing, but Mark believes that it does.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Now. I've been in talks with him recently about because
- 23:51Speaker 2: we're getting ready to have doctor Bronson Stricklen and because
- 23:54Speaker 2: he described himself as moon curious.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Future Meat episode Question four. The topic is fishing. This
- 24:02Speaker 1: is our listener question of the week, which was won
- 24:05Speaker 1: by Charlie Cuber for sending this great question. Charlie is
- 24:08Speaker 1: going to get a board game signed by the crew.
- 24:10Speaker 1: If you want a chance to win the listener Question
- 24:12Speaker 1: of the Week, then send your question to Trivia at
- 24:14Speaker 1: the Meat eater dot com. Merriam Webster defines this eleven
- 24:18Speaker 1: letter word as quote an expanse of water with many
- 24:23Speaker 1: scattered islands. Merriam Webster defines this eleven letter word as
- 24:30Speaker 1: an expanse of water with many scattered islands. This question four,
- 24:42Speaker 1: Randall you have this one? Right?
- 24:44Speaker 3: I do?
- 24:44Speaker 2: I hope?
- 24:45Speaker 3: So?
- 24:45Speaker 1: Okay, Seve looks confident.
- 24:47Speaker 5: I've been reading a lot about the war in the Pacific, So.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Shut up islands.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's not that's not a stretch.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Okay, like any kind of that chit chatty clue.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Given, Brody, do you have this one?
- 25:02Speaker 5: Got a lot more comfortable with that in your absence.
- 25:05Speaker 3: I got a tidbit for you when you're ready.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I'm ready.
- 25:07Speaker 2: What do you call them?
- 25:08Speaker 1: Flavor text?
- 25:09Speaker 3: Yeah, go for it. I could give it now.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Oh it's about this question you're saying. Okay, Yanni, you
- 25:15Speaker 1: have this one right.
- 25:18Speaker 2: I came up with an eleven letter word, but I'm
- 25:20Speaker 2: not sure about my spelling. There ain't too many eleven
- 25:24Speaker 2: letter words.
- 25:25Speaker 1: I bet eleven letter word. It's defined as an expanse
- 25:28Speaker 1: of water with many scattered islands. Callum, Seth. Do not
- 25:34Speaker 1: have an answer quite yet?
- 25:38Speaker 2: Come on, Seth, I bet on you. I know as
- 25:42Speaker 2: soon as I hear it.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Mmmm, I'm gonna be pissed.
- 25:45Speaker 5: But keep thinking, just keep thinking.
- 25:49Speaker 2: You know, back to the moon thing and rap bringing
- 25:53Speaker 2: around to Clay Clan. I had a long conversation the
- 25:57Speaker 2: other day about scent control.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Does he believe in the moon.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Nope, doesn't believe in the moon for deer, But he
- 26:03Speaker 2: grew up with an ardent. His father was ardently into
- 26:08Speaker 2: scent control, like to the point where it drove. He
- 26:12Speaker 2: thinks it drove his two brothers away from deer hunting.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Eating apples up the tree and stuff like that.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I don't know about No. I think more about the
- 26:20Speaker 2: clothing and and doing all that. But now Clay thinks
- 26:24Speaker 2: that it's just like you just believe it to believe
- 26:27Speaker 2: it right, Like it's a bunch of whoy.
- 26:30Speaker 3: I mean, like the wind is scent control and that's it. Yeah.
- 26:34Speaker 2: But then I see on Instagram yesterday the Clay can
- 26:38Speaker 2: walk around to go hangers and find water is real science, dude.
- 26:46Speaker 3: I've spent more time with him on those wires. It's
- 26:48Speaker 3: not real. I've done it with them.
- 26:51Speaker 2: It's just people are so interesting that you can sell clearly.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Control in any kind of like controlled circumstance. They can't
- 26:59Speaker 3: do better than ran them. But I've done it dude,
- 27:03Speaker 3: it messes with your head.
- 27:04Speaker 2: We wrote about it in the kid's book.
- 27:07Speaker 3: I've gone out with them with the wires. It messes
- 27:09Speaker 3: with your hand.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Is it supposed to be like a divining rod?
- 27:11Speaker 3: Or he does like called a witch and ride because
- 27:14Speaker 3: it's like makes it seem a little.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I can't go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 27:22Speaker 1: Seth and Cow without an answer. Then we have Giannis, Randall,
- 27:26Speaker 1: Steve and Brody saying archipelago.
- 27:30Speaker 2: I would have gotten correct, how you pronounce it.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Archipelago. Some examples of archipelagos are the Florida Keys, Hawaii,
- 27:39Speaker 1: and the Virgin Islands. Most archipela archipelagoes are formed by volcanoes, glaciers,
- 27:45Speaker 1: or erosion. These island chains are often rich with life
- 27:48Speaker 1: that's unique to what's found on the mainland.
- 27:51Speaker 5: And the allusions, Yeah, that's what my about.
- 27:54Speaker 3: I named all of those and got the Ring of
- 27:59Speaker 3: Fire and John mcfee's Pulitzer Prize winning Annals of the
- 28:04Speaker 3: Former World. He explains that in eighty million years, Japan
- 28:12Speaker 3: will have accreded the Illusion Archipelago and docked it up
- 28:17Speaker 3: against Alaska.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Mm hmm no.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Wild Time Wars.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Question five the topic is a conservation.
- 28:30Speaker 5: That's gonna be all over Instagram.
- 28:33Speaker 1: The Greater wind Wood Exotic Animal Park, which was the
- 28:37Speaker 1: focus of the Tiger King documentary, was located in this state.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Oh, buddy, I don't know.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Question five, The topic is conservation. The Greater Windwood Exotic
- 28:49Speaker 1: Animal Park, which was the focus of the Tiger King documentary,
- 28:53Speaker 1: was located in this state.
- 28:55Speaker 7: This is one of those questions that really wanders outside
- 28:58Speaker 7: the boundaries.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I'll tell you in the flavor text why it's so relevant.
- 29:04Speaker 2: I don't really care.
- 29:08Speaker 1: The Greater wind Wood Exotic Animal Park, which was the
- 29:11Speaker 1: focus of the Tiger King documentary, was located in this state.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Who hasn't seen Tiger King in here?
- 29:17Speaker 3: Steve?
- 29:18Speaker 1: Okay, Steve Brody and.
- 29:20Speaker 6: Cal podcast was seth about Tiger King. Be honest, you've
- 29:26Speaker 6: seen it, but I still don't remember.
- 29:29Speaker 1: You need to tell me what state that Greater wind
- 29:32Speaker 1: Wood Exotic Animal Park was located in.
- 29:35Speaker 6: There's several states that allow for this type of stuff
- 29:39Speaker 6: to happen.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Okay, you got a narrow down to a few.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Yeah, what's amazing is that that Gal Carol Bakin.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, Cal knows her, but he hasn't seen the show.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and Jack as anti hunting.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Is everybody ready? Call you ready, go ahead and reveal
- 30:07Speaker 1: your answers. We have Seth saying Oklahoma. Jannis says Florida,
- 30:12Speaker 1: Randall says Oklahoma. Cal Oklahoma, Steve Texas, Brody Texas. The
- 30:17Speaker 1: correct answer is Oklahoma. Who cal r Seth got that
- 30:23Speaker 1: one right?
- 30:24Speaker 2: Well?
- 30:24Speaker 1: Who is it?
- 30:25Speaker 3: Me here?
- 30:25Speaker 2: Got it perfect?
- 30:26Speaker 1: We'll find out here after this. This is question five.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Joe Exotic owned the zoo for seventeen years. It was
- 30:32Speaker 1: purchased by Jeff Lowe in twenty sixteen, then a court
- 30:36Speaker 1: ordered that it be given to Carol Baskin in twenty twenty.
- 30:39Speaker 1: She has since sold the property. Joe Exotic is currently
- 30:42Speaker 1: serving a twenty one year sentence for one count of
- 30:45Speaker 1: murder for hire, eight counts of Lacy Act violations, and
- 30:49Speaker 1: nine counts of Endangered Species acts.
- 30:51Speaker 5: Violet, So she didn't get his pardon.
- 30:53Speaker 1: He has not gotten his partner yet, but he sure
- 30:55Speaker 1: works on Trump for that. He leans on three.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, I think the I think the the presidential
- 31:01Speaker 3: pardon was such a mistake and it's a national disgrace.
- 31:05Speaker 3: I'm talking everyone everyone. Rarely does someone get pardoned I'm like,
- 31:10Speaker 3: oh cool.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Joe Exotic follow up all under.
- 31:14Speaker 3: That if they could get a like.
- 31:17Speaker 6: One music star that Reagan, I would love.
- 31:19Speaker 3: To have the presidential pardon the way it is just
- 31:21Speaker 3: a national embarrassment.
- 31:23Speaker 6: Reagan pardoned a country music star like basically based off
- 31:28Speaker 6: of fandom and the lyrics, but his like the type
- 31:32Speaker 6: of person that that was was like a walking serial killer.
- 31:36Speaker 6: Mm yeah, and it was like, well, people seem to
- 31:39Speaker 6: love the music, so.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Brody Joe Exotic had seventeen violations.
- 31:44Speaker 2: I got you. I just didn't like it because I
- 31:45Speaker 2: don't know it.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Feil.
- 31:46Speaker 1: We're halfway through round one. Give us a scoreboard update.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Here's where it stands. Gents. We've got Seth and Giannis
- 31:54Speaker 4: tied up with three points, cal Steven Brody I'll have
- 31:58Speaker 4: four points apiece, and Randall Williams is in first place
- 32:01Speaker 4: with a perfect game and five points.
- 32:05Speaker 5: This weighs heavily on me.
- 32:07Speaker 3: I've probably been doing better too by the sat around
- 32:09Speaker 3: watching TV.
- 32:11Speaker 6: It was on the Cocaines and Rhinestones podcast.
- 32:15Speaker 4: I'll look it up after the game.
- 32:17Speaker 5: Sorry, are you dialing into the podcast hotline?
- 32:21Speaker 2: Col? Oh?
- 32:22Speaker 6: Yeah, man, if you guys haven't listened to Cocaine and Ryanstones.
- 32:25Speaker 6: I mean it is a fantastic.
- 32:26Speaker 1: I didn't hear that the title.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it's great.
- 32:30Speaker 6: It's David allen Coe's kid.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Oh.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Question six, the topic is natural history. Daniel Freeman was
- 32:40Speaker 1: the first to take advantage of this law, which was
- 32:44Speaker 1: signed by Abe Lincoln to give public land to private citizens.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Brody and Randall already have their answer for question six.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Daniel Freeman was the first to take advantage of this law,
- 33:00Speaker 1: which was signed by Abe Lincoln to give public land
- 33:03Speaker 1: to private citizens. Steve with a loud answer over there,
- 33:11Speaker 1: now you're you're giving a hint to your commors about
- 33:14Speaker 1: how much writing you're doing.
- 33:15Speaker 4: There, says Reagan. Pardon Merle Haggard.
- 33:19Speaker 1: There you go.
- 33:20Speaker 6: It wasn't Maybe I had that screwed up with somebody else.
- 33:26Speaker 6: That's the only time I've ever been like, oh good,
- 33:28Speaker 6: Please don't think that I was talking about Merle Haggard.
- 33:32Speaker 3: I want to go on the record. That's the one
- 33:34Speaker 3: time I've been.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Daniel Freeman was the first to take advantage of this law,
- 33:40Speaker 1: which was signed by Abe Lincoln to give public land
- 33:43Speaker 1: to private citizens.
- 33:45Speaker 3: I mean, what kind of weird authority? Oh, sorry, not
- 33:50Speaker 3: not this. If it went to the Supreme Court, if
- 33:54Speaker 3: each case in the vote and you had to get
- 33:55Speaker 3: a majority vote from the Supreme Court after being nominated
- 33:58Speaker 3: by the president, I could get on board, but like,
- 34:00Speaker 3: just give someone unilateral like on the way out the door, sure, uniladder.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sure you let him go, or on the
- 34:06Speaker 1: way in the.
- 34:07Speaker 3: Door, on the way in the door especially watch Oh yeah,
- 34:12Speaker 3: you'd be like, oh, I don't know, maybe he did
- 34:14Speaker 3: something wrong.
- 34:15Speaker 5: If he did, it's kind of like it's kind of
- 34:17Speaker 5: like the super Bowl halftime show of presidential administrations. Just
- 34:21Speaker 5: like this weird novelty that you know is going to
- 34:23Speaker 5: pop up. I wonder who's going to get it this year?
- 34:26Speaker 1: Is everybody ready go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 34:31Speaker 1: have Seth and Janice and Randall and cal and Steve
- 34:36Speaker 1: Enbrody saying the Homestead Act, they got it.
- 34:39Speaker 6: The correct answer is, this isn't the Homestead Act that
- 34:43Speaker 6: everybody thinks about.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Though, what's what's your problem?
- 34:46Speaker 3: See he wrote homestead so did you? No? He didn't, right,
- 34:51Speaker 3: I was just saving time. He didn't write act.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Yeah. The Homestead Act was created in eighteen sixty two.
- 34:57Speaker 1: It allowed any citizen who had never taking up arms
- 35:00Speaker 1: against the US government to claim one hundred and sixty
- 35:03Speaker 1: acres of public property. In return, that person had to
- 35:06Speaker 1: live on the property, build a home, and farm the
- 35:09Speaker 1: land for five years. About two hundred and seventy million acres,
- 35:13Speaker 1: or ten percent of the United States was claimed under
- 35:16Speaker 1: the Homestead Act.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Was it a per person or per family thing?
- 35:21Speaker 1: I think you had to be over twenty one years old,
- 35:23Speaker 1: so that probably cut off from uh, you know.
- 35:27Speaker 6: Everybody had a family at twenty one.
- 35:29Speaker 2: We got a new one.
- 35:29Speaker 5: We got a new one just introduced in the Montana legislature, Yeah,
- 35:33Speaker 5: which is selling off state parcels under one hundred acres.
- 35:36Speaker 6: Only available to folks who have been in the state
- 35:38Speaker 6: for ten years. Oh and the maximum acreage is five
- 35:44Speaker 6: So kind of a funny one.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Cheering for that one.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Now, Question seven, A lot of pheasant hunting spots gone exactly.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Question seven sit on the topic it's conservation. This is
- 35:56Speaker 1: the Athletic Brewing moneyball question of the week. For every
- 35:58Speaker 1: correct answer for by Athletic Brewing is going to make
- 36:01Speaker 1: a one hundred dollars donation. That's captive five hundred dollars.
- 36:04Speaker 1: This week Athletic Brewing is giving to the National Wild
- 36:07Speaker 1: Turkey Federation. Here is your moneyball question. What federal agency

- 36:17Speaker 4: Oh?
- 36:19Speaker 1: This is question seven? Topic is conservation. What federal agency
- 36:23Speaker 1: directly manages national grasslands? This is our moneyball question. So

- 36:49Speaker 5: I wish I had some athletic brewing to celebrate this
- 36:52Speaker 5: moneyball question, but it's just so darn good I drank
- 36:55Speaker 5: it already.
- 36:56Speaker 1: We can get you another one after this perfect. Do
- 37:03Speaker 1: you have this one right? Randall? With confidence?
- 37:06Speaker 2: Yes?
- 37:06Speaker 1: I think you look like you're the only one who
- 37:09Speaker 1: is very confident about this one. What federal agency directly
- 37:13Speaker 1: manages national grasslands? Our other five players are leaking confidence?
- 37:30Speaker 3: M hmm, I got two downy Wow, I need to
- 37:35Speaker 3: scratch one of.
- 37:44Speaker 1: You boys. Ready, sure, Steve, I think we're waiting on you.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have set saying
- 37:57Speaker 1: the National Park Service Janni as the National Park Service,
- 38:02Speaker 1: Randall says the US Forest Service cal says the US
- 38:07Speaker 1: Forest Service, and the USDA.
- 38:10Speaker 3: He says us fish And.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Okay, he says the USD erase the line through it.
- 38:17Speaker 6: That wasn't intentional. Sorry, I'm not trying to screw with anybody.
- 38:20Speaker 6: I said USDA.
- 38:21Speaker 1: We have Steve saying the National Park Service, he crossed
- 38:24Speaker 1: out BLM. We have Brody saying the National Forest Service,
- 38:29Speaker 1: he crossed out USDA and Department of the Interior. The
- 38:33Speaker 1: correct answer is the US Forest Service. I think we
- 38:38Speaker 1: had what three of our players, I think two of them.
- 38:43Speaker 1: So that's a two hundred dollars donation from Athletic Brewing
- 38:46Speaker 1: going to NWTF.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Sorry, Turkey Federation.
- 38:50Speaker 1: The Forest Service manages twenty National grasslands, most of which
- 38:54Speaker 1: stretch from North Dakota to Texas. These areas make up
- 38:57Speaker 1: four million acres, which is bigger than cannnecticuette. National grasslands
- 39:01Speaker 1: are managed similar to National forests and are often open hunting, fishing, grazing,
- 39:06Speaker 1: and mineral extraction.
- 39:07Speaker 7: You know what's weird about them, though, is you roll
- 39:09Speaker 7: through them and you like think you can jump out
- 39:11Speaker 7: of the car and shoot an antelope, and you can't.
- 39:13Speaker 7: In a lot of places, It's like people are running
- 39:17Speaker 7: branches and farms on the gland.
- 39:19Speaker 3: A lot of times I get them wrong, and I
- 39:20Speaker 3: didn't really get them wrong.
- 39:23Speaker 1: You just got this one.
- 39:24Speaker 3: This one. I just got this wrong.
- 39:26Speaker 4: I feel like National Grasslands on on exer purple.
- 39:29Speaker 2: I could be wrong. Thank you, right, that's what made
- 39:32Speaker 2: mean HM to National Park Service question National Parks eight.
- 39:38Speaker 1: The topic is cooking. This next great question is via
- 39:41Speaker 1: Patrick John Riley. Bone Appetite defines this six letter word
- 39:46Speaker 1: as quote, a naturally occurring thickener and stabilizer helping jams,
- 39:52Speaker 1: jellies and fruit preserves. Set a confident room on this one.
- 40:01Speaker 1: They've gotten their swagger back Bone appetite, there's got that look.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Six letter word as a naturally occurring thickener and stabilizer
- 40:12Speaker 1: helping jams, jellies and fruit preserves. The word okay. Steve
- 40:20Speaker 1: has pointed out Randall has a whiteboard. Are you picturing
- 40:24Speaker 1: it backwards like the Japanese?
- 40:26Speaker 5: Yes, I'm starting. I'm starting with the jam or jelly
- 40:32Speaker 5: and then pulling it apart. In my head.
- 40:35Speaker 1: This is question eight.
- 40:40Speaker 3: Time to play cal Do you have this one right?
- 40:44Speaker 6: I think so?
- 40:45Speaker 1: Six letter words occurring thickener and stabilizer shown jams, jellies
- 40:50Speaker 1: and fruit preserves. Randall, how you doing that?
- 40:54Speaker 3: I don't know if I'm gonna get it.
- 40:56Speaker 1: If this keeps up, Okay, let's.
- 40:59Speaker 3: Just wrap person.
- 41:02Speaker 1: There's got to be some kind of cut off.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Let's go. He don't have it. No sense of sitting
- 41:09Speaker 3: around waiting.
- 41:09Speaker 4: Now he's writing something.
- 41:10Speaker 1: They're getting to it. That's okay, give him ten seconds.
- 41:16Speaker 1: You remember this, Randall for the next time you're sitting
- 41:21Speaker 1: on an answer, and Steve is it?
- 41:22Speaker 5: I thought I was very polite and low key about
- 41:27Speaker 5: the last question.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Bone appetite got the sixth letter word as a naturally around.
- 41:34Speaker 3: Now it's like really.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Dragging jams, jellies and fruit preserved. Set is everybody ready?
- 41:41Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Seth and
- 41:45Speaker 1: Randall without an answer. Cal Steve Brody say pect it?
- 41:52Speaker 1: They got it? The correct answer is pect it.
- 41:55Speaker 3: What's it made me happier than getting one right at Archipelago?
- 41:59Speaker 1: Was that answer there somewhere?
- 42:01Speaker 3: It was?
- 42:02Speaker 1: Okay? Is found naturally in fruits and vegetables, but there
- 42:09Speaker 1: are also commercial options. When heated with sugar and acid,
- 42:13Speaker 1: pectin forms a mesh that traps liquid and as it cools,
- 42:17Speaker 1: it sets and suspends pieces of fruit. To see pectin
- 42:20Speaker 1: in action, watch our wild and whole video on the
- 42:22Speaker 1: mediator dot com called how to Make Jelly.
- 42:25Speaker 5: However long it took Steve to write that down was
- 42:29Speaker 5: as long as I had to think about the question.
- 42:32Speaker 3: I understand because you started heckling, he says.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Question nine. The topic is fishing. Located in the Sierra Nevadas.
- 42:44Speaker 1: This is North America's largest alpine lake. We're gonna hold
- 42:52Speaker 1: off on a scoreboard update until after question ten.
- 42:56Speaker 3: This round, I wonder what the answer is.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Answer yes, The points will roll over into Episodes two
- 43:08Speaker 1: and three were on question nine. Located in the Sierra Nevadas,
- 43:12Speaker 1: this is North America's largest alpine lake. Randall is confident.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Our other players are not. Oh I've gotten answer, okay,
- 43:23Speaker 1: but are you confident?
- 43:25Speaker 6: Well, yeah, because it's the only thing that's in my
- 43:28Speaker 6: brain right now.
- 43:28Speaker 1: So this question it lives it Question nine thirty questions.
- 43:34Speaker 5: I was about to write that down before we finished
- 43:35Speaker 5: the question.
- 43:37Speaker 3: Wow, I thought you know the answer? Yeah.
- 43:40Speaker 5: I thought it's a question about animals, though, do you
- 43:43Speaker 5: know the answer?
- 43:43Speaker 3: Still? I'm gonna write down what's in it?
- 43:46Speaker 1: Okay? But as a reminder, we're looking for the name
- 43:50Speaker 1: water north America's largest alpine lake. Johnny, how we doing?
- 44:00Speaker 2: I gonna have an answer, Randon, would.
- 44:03Speaker 1: You like to fill this silence with some poking.
- 44:05Speaker 5: I mean, I've spent some time in the Sierra of Spencer,
- 44:08Speaker 5: Okay for gold section of the Jo Trail through King's Canyon,
- 44:15Speaker 5: et cetera, et cetera.
- 44:16Speaker 6: There's a fire, there's.
- 44:20Speaker 5: No there was a fire?
- 44:23Speaker 2: Is a man made?
- 44:23Speaker 3: Like? Yeah?

- 44:49Speaker 1: everybody ready? Go ahead and real answers?
- 44:56Speaker 3: That's it?
- 44:56Speaker 1: Crater like Jannis says Whitney Randall and col say Tahoe.

- 45:18Speaker 3: of Godfather three or two.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Sure, measured by volume, Lake Tahoe is the biggest lake
- 45:25Speaker 1: in America. That's not a great lake. It is one thousand,
- 45:29Speaker 1: six hundred and forty five feet deep, making it second
- 45:32Speaker 1: only to Crater Lake as the deepest lake in the country.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Lake Tahoe has lake trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout,
- 45:39Speaker 1: coconut salmon, and a variety of warm water species.
- 45:43Speaker 6: First time I went to Lake Tahoe. Uh, this is
- 45:45Speaker 6: just a story specifically to embarrass my little sister. We
- 45:49Speaker 6: came in from the south, super windy road, real pretty,
- 45:53Speaker 6: and the cop puked all over the back seat.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Okay, your sister's the cop.
