- 0:21Speaker 1: one of hallmark channels bonus original movies airing in the
- 0:25Speaker 1: month of May. If you want to catch up with
- 0:28Speaker 1: Wendy and I outside of the podcast, you can follow
- 0:30Speaker 1: us on Instagram where we are at Megan and Wendy.
- 0:34Speaker 1: You can also hop into our exclusive Facebook group, Girls
- 0:37Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark would love to have you there. I gotta say,
- 0:43Speaker 1: the folks and the Girls Gone Hallmark group did not
- 0:47Speaker 1: have great things to say about this movie. No, And
- 0:49Speaker 1: you know what was so funny.
- 0:51Speaker 2: What I love about that group is like, I think
- 0:53Speaker 2: the movie had maybe just aired and there was already
- 0:56Speaker 2: responses in there and feelings about that movie. And I
- 0:58Speaker 2: was like, oh, and I said something like, you guys
- 1:02Speaker 2: don't make our job easy, meaning that I have to
- 1:05Speaker 2: get in a sort of mental state that I'm ready
- 1:11Speaker 2: to watch these movies, and then when people are telling
- 1:13Speaker 2: me that they.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Are bad already, then hey, you get to pump yourself up. Yeah.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Kathleen Kelly Style, who the heck is Kathleen Kelly, you
- 1:22Speaker 1: were going to get that? Have you seen You've got mail?
- 1:25Speaker 1: A million years ago? There's a scene right before she
- 1:28Speaker 1: gives the press conference against Joe Fox, and she's like
- 1:32Speaker 1: like pumping herself up?
- 1:33Speaker 2: H Is that what I need to do before I
- 1:36Speaker 2: turn on? I'll send you a clip my friendly app.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay. If you have thoughts about these movies, we
- 1:44Speaker 1: love to hear them. You can email us at Megan
- 1:46Speaker 1: and Wendy at gmail dot com. Wendy, Yo, you have
- 1:50Speaker 1: a synoposite. I do Road Trip Romance.
- 1:53Speaker 2: An escalating series of unfortunate events keeps delaying a young
- 1:57Speaker 2: woman's journey to her sister's wedding, a journey she is
- 2:01Speaker 2: forced to take with a guy who was her biggest
- 2:04Speaker 2: rival in high school. Starring Natalie Hall and Corey Seaver.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It is time for news and notes, but we've gotten
- 2:11Speaker 1: into a bit of a habit of doing some Hallmark
- 2:13Speaker 1: news for its. Can I hit you with some Hallmark please?
- 2:16Speaker 1: We have another exclusive multi picture deal. It's a it's
- 2:22Speaker 1: a man. Do you want to guess? Oh, give me
- 2:24Speaker 1: some clues. We find him attractive but not necessarily very engaging.
- 2:33Speaker 1: It's he did a time travel. He has dark hair,
- 2:37Speaker 1: Ryan Baby. Yes, I'm so bad with I wouldn't have
- 2:42Speaker 1: gotten it either. If he signed an exclusive deal, multi
- 2:46Speaker 1: picture deal with Hallmark. They're bringing him in. I lock
- 2:48Speaker 1: them down.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I think we should make shirts that say something like
- 2:51Speaker 2: exclusive multi picture deal Homewark.
- 2:55Speaker 1: No you we gotta finesse that a little bit, but
- 2:57Speaker 1: sure like that. All Mark also has greenlit a new
- 3:03Speaker 1: primetime series that will be called The Way Home.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Now.
- 3:05Speaker 1: There are no actors attached to this yet waiting to see,
- 3:09Speaker 1: but it is a family drama following the lives of
- 3:12Speaker 1: three generations of women that spans the years through a
- 3:16Speaker 1: time travel twist.
- 3:17Speaker 2: No you hag me until time Time All Time time.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Time travel twist. Cat Landry her fifteen year old daughter Alice,
- 3:26Speaker 1: and Kat's a strange mother Dell. There was life changing
- 3:31Speaker 1: events that caused some trouble in their family, and I
- 3:34Speaker 1: don't think they might be time traveling to try and
- 3:37Speaker 1: repair these relationships. I don't know, but I'm excited for
- 3:40Speaker 1: this because these Hallmark series become many, many, many seasons long.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I cannot jump into season nine and one calls the
- 3:48Speaker 1: heart Yeah, you need you need to start from going.
- 3:50Speaker 1: So if I can start fresh. I might be interested. Sure,
- 3:52Speaker 1: ideel cast for that. Oh, I would love to see
- 3:57Speaker 1: an autumn resar play the mom. Hmmm. But I don't
- 4:01Speaker 1: know who I would want. Actually, I do know who
- 4:04Speaker 1: I would want as the elder mother, the grandmother. She's blonde,
- 4:09Speaker 1: she was in Chesapeake Shores. She Barbara Nivin. Yeah, she's
- 4:14Speaker 1: good as the daughter, I don't know.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Yeah, because it's gonna be some annoying teenage girl.
- 4:21Speaker 1: All right, let's do some news on notes for Road
- 4:24Speaker 1: Trip Romance.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Now, I'm telling you could not find a ton of
- 4:27Speaker 2: stuff no on this movie, the usual stuff. It was
- 4:31Speaker 2: filmed in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, during the fall of twenty
- 4:35Speaker 2: twenty one.
- 4:37Speaker 1: So I wonder was this movie originally filmed for someone
- 4:43Speaker 1: else and then Hallmark acquired it? You think potentially, like
- 4:47Speaker 1: all twenty twenty one, Hallmark is never on that ball.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I don't know, but I do know Hallmark does some acquisitions.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I don't understand how that works. If you do, please
- 4:56Speaker 1: send me some information because I don't. I don't know
- 4:59Speaker 1: how that works. Yeah, I do know they acquire movies
- 5:01Speaker 1: sometimes and then they end up on their channel.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Because I know Michael and our Facebook group had mentioned
- 5:06Speaker 2: something like that he thought maybe several of these main
- 5:09Speaker 2: movies were acquired, and I went over to Crown Media.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Just look at their press releases, because you would think
- 5:15Speaker 2: that they would have like Crown Media or Hallmark acquires
- 5:20Speaker 2: this movie as a press release, But there's nothing like that. No, like,
- 5:25Speaker 2: why not, what's so secret tip about it?
- 5:28Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I wonder if like Variety magazine or like what's that
- 5:33Speaker 2: other one called I want to call it dateline, but
- 5:35Speaker 2: it's not dateline deadline deadline. It's like, do those trades
- 5:39Speaker 2: have information for these movies?
- 5:42Speaker 1: Do I need to subscribe? Well, Deadline definitely covers Hallmark.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I know that I don't. I don't understand this aspect
- 5:51Speaker 1: of the entertainment industry. I mean neither.
- 5:52Speaker 2: And we need an insider indeed, who can be our insider?
- 5:57Speaker 2: Crickets Nobody main Wadia Gmail. Yeah, if you guys know
- 6:01Speaker 2: somebody who has like a really a ton of insider
- 6:05Speaker 2: information that's not like proprietary, is that the right word.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, someone that's not sleepy kitty paw. Yes, we tried.
- 6:13Speaker 2: We tried to get that person on our podcast and
- 6:16Speaker 2: they turned us down. So let's talk more about news
- 6:20Speaker 2: and notes. Natalie hall Is plays the role of Megan Miller.
- 6:24Speaker 1: In this film.
- 6:26Speaker 2: You may recognize her from movies like Stalked by a
- 6:29Speaker 2: Prince and Fit for a Prince, which we review.
- 6:34Speaker 1: When do you think she has a gluten allergy? Is
- 6:36Speaker 1: the gluten the gluten intolerance also affecting your speech. It's
- 6:41Speaker 1: your tongue. It's like my inflammation, inflammation of my brain.
- 6:45Speaker 1: And that's why I have on set. That's why you
- 6:47Speaker 1: can't remember anything I tell her.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah, So anyway, Stalked by a Prince, Fit for a
- 6:51Speaker 2: Prince we reviewed, Fit for a Prince, we did. I
- 6:55Speaker 2: remember hating that movie last It was either Last Spring
- 6:58Speaker 2: or Last Summer. It was like a one off original movie.
- 7:01Speaker 1: It was terrible. Wasn't good. You know what else she
- 7:04Speaker 1: was in? What All My Children? Oh? Really? As who
- 7:09Speaker 1: You're That is the extent of my knowledge. Oh pretty
- 7:12Speaker 1: little liars? Oh and unreal? Oh wow?
- 7:17Speaker 2: A lot of soapi dramas, A lot of soapie dramas.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I miss all my children? Were there any all my
- 7:23Speaker 2: children fans out there? I loved Susan Lucci and all
- 7:26Speaker 2: that storyline.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Megan and Wendy at Gmail dot com Hey, I was
- 7:29Speaker 1: doing a little research on this movie, and I thought
- 7:31Speaker 1: it was odd that one of the articles kept referring
- 7:35Speaker 1: to the character we know as Megan as Margo. Yeah,
- 7:37Speaker 1: that's weird multiple times. But apparently in the credits the
- 7:42Speaker 1: character is listed as Margo. Oh that's weird. Whoopsie, Yep,
- 7:47Speaker 1: that's really weird. So these people had obviously not watched
- 7:50Speaker 1: the movie. They were just pulling some information. MEGANA call says,
- 7:54Speaker 1: what did you call it? Earlier?
- 7:55Speaker 2: Because when we do our research for news and notes,
- 7:57Speaker 2: we find other websites that share hallmark information about these
- 8:02Speaker 2: movies and what did you call them? SEO graveyards or
- 8:05Speaker 2: SEO farms farms. Yeah, it's basically just if they were
- 8:08Speaker 2: like writing blog posts for people like us to find information,
- 8:12Speaker 2: but it's sometimes wrong information, but it's.
- 8:15Speaker 1: They're all really they're only written for ad revenue. They're
- 8:19Speaker 1: very keyword heavy, very actual information light I find, and
- 8:25Speaker 1: they're just trying to trying to get that search traffic.
- 8:28Speaker 1: And they don't really care if they lose you quickly,
- 8:31Speaker 1: as long as you scroll for a minute and give
- 8:33Speaker 1: them some impressions on the many many ads on their pages. Yeah.
- 8:37Speaker 2: So Margo listed of Margo on The Interesting Corey sever
- 8:43Speaker 2: I think that's how you say.
- 8:44Speaker 1: His law same. I have no idea. Se v I
- 8:47Speaker 1: e R. Is that how you would say it?
- 8:49Speaker 2: I don't know because the only see where I News
- 8:52Speaker 2: from Growing Pains, and they do sevier seva whatever. He
- 8:57Speaker 2: plays the mel and his name is Alden Brown, which
- 9:02Speaker 2: is way too close to Alton Brown, the guy from
- 9:05Speaker 2: a Great TV.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Was also on the remake of Lassie. Did you know
- 9:09Speaker 1: there was a remake of Last Week? Alton Brown was
- 9:11Speaker 1: or this story? Oh wait a minute, is Corey the
- 9:16Speaker 1: little brother Mike? What's Mike's little brother? No, it's not Corey.
- 9:20Speaker 1: It's not Corey.
- 9:21Speaker 2: No, Mike and Carol and Ben Ben Ben seever and Boner,
- 9:27Speaker 2: which is so funny. Right, I love I love it
- 9:29Speaker 2: Boner like it wouldn't there would There's no way there
- 9:33Speaker 2: would be a character named Boner in twenty twenty.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Two on TV. Right, that's great, so funny. I loved
- 9:40Speaker 1: that show. Are you ready for first impressions? I have
- 9:43Speaker 1: one more note? Huh.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Alana Dunkleman plays single white female Della Simmons Sick. Yes,
- 9:52Speaker 2: she has no relation to American idol season one hosts
- 9:55Speaker 2: Brian Dunkleman.
- 9:56Speaker 1: My parents live next door to Dunkleman's, who were also
- 9:59Speaker 1: not related to Oh Brian, Brian Duncleman, Brian Duncleman. Yeah,
- 10:03Speaker 1: these Dunkleman's owned McDonald's. Oh many. Oddly they moved their
- 10:08Speaker 1: new neighbor also owned McDonald's. That's weird, isn't that like
- 10:11Speaker 1: a franchisey? Yeah? Oh interesting.
- 10:15Speaker 2: You know, I hadn't heard the name Dunkleman. With the
- 10:19Speaker 2: exception of Brian Dunkleman's. I thought maybe they're related.
- 10:22Speaker 1: They're not. No, No, not at all, not at all.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Now are you ready for first impression? Now? I'm ready
- 10:28Speaker 1: you go first, What the hell is happening? Hallmark Summer's
- 10:35Speaker 1: gonna need to be very good to tip the scales
- 10:39Speaker 1: back in Hallmark's favor.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Two questions. One, remind me what last week's movie was
- 10:43Speaker 2: and if did we like it? Oh, it was the
- 10:46Speaker 2: fat shaming movie right one star? Okay, that was not
- 10:49Speaker 2: great and that was the first movie of the May movies. Right.
- 10:52Speaker 2: So I'm going to say then that these have proven
- 10:57Speaker 2: to be stinkers like we predicted.
- 10:59Speaker 1: So well. Content aside, I actually didn't think last week's
- 11:02Speaker 1: movie was a bad movie. It wasn't painful to watch
- 11:05Speaker 1: in terms of the interactions with the characters. I thought
- 11:07Speaker 1: it was Were you to replace the diet culture nonsense
- 11:12Speaker 1: with something else, I thought it would have been a
- 11:14Speaker 1: very standard, average movie. I think this one's worse, one
- 11:18Speaker 1: hundred percent worse. Okay.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Also, before I give my first impression, I wanted to
- 11:23Speaker 2: ask you if you saw the Facebook response from mutual
- 11:28Speaker 2: friend Melissa, who is a registered dietitian. She was responding
- 11:35Speaker 2: to some of our things that we had to say
- 11:37Speaker 2: about last week's movie.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Yeah, in our favor, I think with us that diet
- 11:42Speaker 1: culture is incredibly damaging.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yes, yes, And she said it's just like the entertainment
- 11:48Speaker 2: industry is just riddled with it.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:50Speaker 2: So anyway, my first impression of this movie is that
- 11:54Speaker 2: it would have been far better if the cuckoo rise
- 11:57Speaker 2: Mad tried killing Megan.
- 11:58Speaker 1: No. I mean, we had a lifetime movie in our hands, Okay, Della.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I think they wanted you to believe that she was
- 12:07Speaker 1: trying to steal Megan's place, only up until the moment
- 12:13Speaker 1: where she tells Megan the wrong church.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Well and she stole her dress. Did you see there
- 12:18Speaker 2: was like some contemplation of like she was going to
- 12:20Speaker 2: take the maid of honor dress.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I did, but she steals her dress because the bride,
- 12:26Speaker 1: who was so forgettable I don't even remember her name, said,
- 12:30Speaker 1: looks like you're a step in an. Let's talk about
- 12:32Speaker 1: what we liked very little.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I'm like, the first fifteen minutes, Okay, let me tell
- 12:36Speaker 2: you how my day.
- 12:37Speaker 1: My day went.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Sunday morning, I woke up and I was like, I'm
- 12:41Speaker 2: going to turn my friendly n app on right now
- 12:43Speaker 2: in bed, and I'm going to start to watch this movie.
- 12:46Speaker 2: And I got through, like the first fifteen minutes. I
- 12:48Speaker 2: was like, Okay, it's not too bad. There's like some
- 12:50Speaker 2: Quippi lines in here, and like, you know, we're we're
- 12:53Speaker 2: getting to know them. And then I had to go downstairs.
- 12:56Speaker 2: And then I go downstairs and I take out my
- 12:58Speaker 2: laptop and then I start reading face Book. And that's
- 13:00Speaker 2: when I see in our group that they're.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Like, what is this movie? This is terrible blah blah
- 13:05Speaker 1: blah blah bla blah whatever.
- 13:06Speaker 2: And I was like, what, I didn't think it was
- 13:09Speaker 2: not bad in the first fifteen minutes, but then it
- 13:11Speaker 2: just went real downhill.
- 13:12Speaker 1: So I like the first fifteen minutes and that's it.
- 13:17Speaker 1: That's it. You know. I liked Natalie Hall Megan. I
- 13:21Speaker 1: liked her too. Actually, I found her pleasant to watch.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I found her dialogue delivery to be believable. I thought
- 13:28Speaker 1: she was very comfortable on screen. I can't say that
- 13:32Speaker 1: about anyone else in this movie. I enjoyed her. I
- 13:35Speaker 1: would be happy to see more of her. I would
- 13:37Speaker 1: like to see her given a better chance, with a
- 13:40Speaker 1: better script and a better overall experience. But I did
- 13:44Speaker 1: enjoy her, so I.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Don't remember her being very memorable in last year's For
- 13:49Speaker 2: a Friend, No same. I didn't even know it was
- 13:51Speaker 2: the same actress, agree until I did my research on it.
- 13:54Speaker 2: I thought she did do a really good job at
- 13:56Speaker 2: delivering the lines. There would be times when she would
- 13:59Speaker 2: like be like almost free thinking and then would like
- 14:02Speaker 2: have these like throwaway lines and like like I don't
- 14:05Speaker 2: know how that works her whatever. Anyway, I thought she
- 14:07Speaker 2: handled that well. But like she needs a better movie.
- 14:11Speaker 2: The other thing I would like to say is that
- 14:14Speaker 2: she was in the same outfit the entire movie, mostly right,
- 14:18Speaker 2: and she was very mat And this is not about
- 14:20Speaker 2: her or the way she looks. This is about the
- 14:23Speaker 2: makeup department. They had her very mate like, her makeup
- 14:27Speaker 2: was so mat Yeah.
- 14:29Speaker 1: And you're in a road trip, you gotta like give
- 14:32Speaker 1: the girl a little missed something. Yeah, and her hair.
- 14:38Speaker 2: And this just goes back to like where was her luggage?
- 14:40Speaker 2: Didn't she have like at a whatever? Okay, yeah, where
- 14:44Speaker 2: was her luggage? Well, we'll talk about that in a second.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Is there anything else you liked? Nope? Okay, let's talk
- 14:50Speaker 1: about what.
- 14:50Speaker 2: She wished for.
- 14:51Speaker 1: And I only got one less rend Fair.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Oh my god, I have the exact same line rin
- 14:57Speaker 2: less Renfair not for meth.
- 15:04Speaker 1: That was so ridiculous. Much the entire time.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Now I appreciated that she was like, look, we don't
- 15:13Speaker 2: have our phones. We're stuck here. Let's immerse ourselves into
- 15:18Speaker 2: this like day yeah, and like let's experience it and
- 15:22Speaker 2: see what happens.
- 15:22Speaker 1: But it was like all every single minute, welcometh to
- 15:27Speaker 1: the faireth stop stop stopping, no one time, it's fine
- 15:31Speaker 1: once No, it was I don't know if what thou
- 15:36Speaker 1: speakest of too much. First of all, the Renfair was
- 15:40Speaker 1: it was too long, entirely too long. Yeah, you could
- 15:45Speaker 1: have come up with another stop for them. There had
- 15:48Speaker 1: to be something else fun for them to do on
- 15:50Speaker 1: the road. Have you ever been to a ren fair before? No?
- 15:53Speaker 2: People love them. I'm not none, not interested. Whatso I'm
- 15:58Speaker 2: not going to dress up in something? Nope, I'm not
- 16:01Speaker 2: gonna eat a turkey leg I'm not. Nope, No, not
- 16:03Speaker 2: for a dress. Fine, beautiful costume, great, but no.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I wished for something else. But the dialogue in this
- 16:14Speaker 1: movie was very juvenile. Tell me how like it was
- 16:17Speaker 1: written by a fourteen year old who is trying to
- 16:21Speaker 1: read a movie for adults, with lines like you go girl,
- 16:24Speaker 1: He's one heck of a catch. Not so fast, buster buster,
- 16:30Speaker 1: he's one heck of a catch? Are you freaking kidding me?
- 16:33Speaker 1: Were they talking about.
- 16:34Speaker 2: The girls like fiance? Yeah, yamn, like he's one, but
- 16:37Speaker 2: then he makes those puns. Yeah, he's one heck of
- 16:39Speaker 2: a catch.
- 16:40Speaker 1: The puns didn't I mean, the puns honestly didn't bother
- 16:42Speaker 1: me or one heck of a catch? You go girl?
- 16:44Speaker 1: They say you go girl at one point, You go girl.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I say that every once in a while, but maybe
- 16:49Speaker 1: as a joke.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, we need to talk about did you see that?
- 16:54Speaker 2: And mine is like, straight up, I have like ten questions. Okay,
- 16:57Speaker 2: mine line says, wtf those DIY suitcases they were carrying that?
- 17:02Speaker 1: Neither his? He had one too.
- 17:06Speaker 2: I don't know if his was all decopage like hers,
- 17:09Speaker 2: but it was some sort of like brown suitcase.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Like.
- 17:12Speaker 2: First of all, I'm not a salesman, like I've never
- 17:15Speaker 2: had to sell something, so I don't know if you
- 17:17Speaker 2: carry your wares like in a suitcase like that. But
- 17:20Speaker 2: it felt very like old timy, like door to door
- 17:22Speaker 2: like arts or I don't know, it was bizarre.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I don't have an issue with them carrying samples. You're
- 17:29Speaker 1: a toy person. You want to show in a suitcase though,
- 17:32Speaker 1: well howl. But I don't know, but tell me what else.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I think a suitcase is probably the best option. You
- 17:37Speaker 1: know it's gonna roll, well, you know it's gonna be lightweight,
- 17:40Speaker 1: maybe a roller suitcase, but not.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:43Speaker 1: So she had her old timey suitcase that had like
- 17:46Speaker 1: stick hers all over it.
- 17:47Speaker 2: It had her company name that she like, literally fun
- 17:50Speaker 2: for all, like made out of like sticker letters. Right,
- 17:54Speaker 2: it was terrible. It was terrible, terrible. Get yourself a
- 17:57Speaker 2: nice sleek suitcase. It's okay that your products are fun.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Still be a business person fun. I mean, I think
- 18:05Speaker 2: they were supposed to be a throwback.
- 18:06Speaker 1: That was the point. Like they were, you know, wooden toys,
- 18:09Speaker 1: they were not electronic. I understood what they were doing there,
- 18:12Speaker 1: but I thought it made her look silly.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm walking around with a stupid fun for all suitcases,
- 18:17Speaker 2: you look like a I don't know, I'm not gonna
- 18:20Speaker 2: say it. Okay, Where is their actual luggage? Because they're
- 18:28Speaker 2: in town from Seattle and they're in Denver right and
- 18:31Speaker 2: they're at this meeting and I'm saying them both because
- 18:34Speaker 2: it was both of them, and then they're going to
- 18:37Speaker 2: Wichita right right after this meeting. Where's their stuff?
- 18:41Speaker 1: Well? Is it in the first car that gets stolen?
- 18:45Speaker 2: No, because they don't even have it when they're at
- 18:47Speaker 2: the airport and that or actually we never see them
- 18:50Speaker 2: at the airport, they don't have it at the car
- 18:52Speaker 2: rental place.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Maybe we just don't see it. Okay, fine, because it
- 18:57Speaker 1: gets stolen almost immediately that car, So then I can
- 19:00Speaker 1: stand why they're in the same clothes for the rest
- 19:01Speaker 1: of the movie.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Okay, fine, but we never see them like lugging, Like
- 19:06Speaker 2: she walks into that company into her meeting. Where would
- 19:10Speaker 2: her luggage be that's a good question, right. It's not
- 19:13Speaker 2: like they went back to the hotel to get it
- 19:14Speaker 2: because it was at the with the doorman.
- 19:16Speaker 1: It stings like this they did not want to spend
- 19:18Speaker 1: the money on these props.
- 19:19Speaker 2: No, okay, I want to get your take on this.
- 19:23Speaker 2: When Megan goes into the rental car place and she
- 19:25Speaker 2: walks in, she sees a big, huge line and the
- 19:30Speaker 2: rental car employee walks by, who is a person of color.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Megan starts to have like this kind of like meltdown
- 19:38Speaker 2: over like her life being so important and she needs
- 19:41Speaker 2: to be somewhere. And I just felt it made me
- 19:43Speaker 2: kind of uncomfortable because I felt like she was like
- 19:46Speaker 2: this white girl with this white privilege and she needed
- 19:48Speaker 2: to get on a in a rental car right now,
- 19:51Speaker 2: Like her problems were more important than everybody else who
- 19:54Speaker 2: is standing there in line all needed to be somewhere else.
- 19:57Speaker 1: To do, and she just get there. She gets there,
- 19:59Speaker 1: She's like, oh, yes, e else somewhere to be. I
- 20:01Speaker 1: I know.
- 20:02Speaker 2: But then like I just was like it made me uncomfortable.
- 20:06Speaker 2: It just made me uncomfortable.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I agree, I didn't. It didn't seem believable that an
- 20:14Speaker 1: adult woman. There's an airport situation, so of course you're
- 20:19Speaker 1: not the only person whose plans have now been derailed. Right,
- 20:22Speaker 1: you walk into the rental car situation, do you not
- 20:24Speaker 1: immediately assume that everyone in this place has somewhere they
- 20:27Speaker 1: would like to be right? Right? And yours is a wedding, which,
- 20:31Speaker 1: while an important family event, as pointed out, not an emergency, not.
- 20:35Speaker 2: An emergency, and it was happening in like three days
- 20:37Speaker 2: from there, right, so shut up.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I agree, I did not enjoy her. I'm not more,
- 20:44Speaker 1: but let me hear from you. Did you notice that
- 20:48Speaker 1: the house owned by the toe truck driver and his
- 20:50Speaker 1: wife had a fall garland on the porch? No?
- 20:54Speaker 2: I didn't, but that makes sense if this was filmed
- 20:56Speaker 2: in Fall twenty twenty one.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I didn't notice either, But my husband walks in, Is
- 21:00Speaker 1: this one of the Fall movies? I said, no, oh,
- 21:03Speaker 1: and I looked up, because you know, this was not
- 21:06Speaker 1: a keep your eyes on the screen the whole time
- 21:07Speaker 1: kind of movie, not even But yeah, they had fall
- 21:10Speaker 1: garland wrapped around.
- 21:12Speaker 2: If you recall, I think Fall Hamewark movies were very
- 21:18Speaker 2: thin last.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Year on the Fall content.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Yes, agreed, they had Roadhouse Romance, which was fall looking,
- 21:26Speaker 2: but everything else was not. And I wonder if this
- 21:30Speaker 2: was supposed to go in there and wasn't ready either
- 21:33Speaker 2: wasn't ready or it was like not great, and they're like,
- 21:36Speaker 2: we're gonna bump this.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. The egg walk at the Renfair.
- 21:41Speaker 2: I'm gonna be honest, I don't even know what you're
- 21:43Speaker 2: talking about. I may have been looking at my phone
- 21:45Speaker 2: during this.
- 21:45Speaker 1: There is a montage of Renaissance Fair events. There is
- 21:49Speaker 1: no dialogue over them, okay. And in one of those scenes,
- 21:53Speaker 1: they're doing an egg walk where they were holding an
- 21:56Speaker 1: egg on a spoon in their mouths okay, and Aiden
- 21:59Speaker 1: goes first or I don't even remember all okay. I
- 22:07Speaker 1: don't know if they're on the same team or if
- 22:09Speaker 1: he's just in front of her. But he's like holding
- 22:12Speaker 1: the egg on a spoon and he like turns around
- 22:14Speaker 1: to look at her. I kind of think he's like,
- 22:16Speaker 1: ha ha, I'm beating you. And then he trips, but
- 22:19Speaker 1: the entire time, like he turns around, the spoon tills
- 22:21Speaker 1: to the side, he falls, The egg never falls off
- 22:23Speaker 1: the spoon. It's glued to the stand. Yeah. Also, it
- 22:26Speaker 1: was in slow mo. The whole egg walk was like dune,
- 22:29Speaker 1: Dun Dun Dun Dun dune. It didn't have that music,
- 22:33Speaker 1: but it should have.
- 22:34Speaker 2: It was Cheriots of Fire. It's rough, and I think
- 22:38Speaker 2: I was squirrelling my phone at that time. I'm sorry
- 22:40Speaker 2: I missed it.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Can we talk about weddings and all the things they
- 22:44Speaker 1: do wrong? Sure, you don't have your bachelorette party the
- 22:50Speaker 1: night before your rehearsal dinner. Where were they?
- 22:55Speaker 2: Was that supposed to be a bar or some sort
- 22:57Speaker 2: of like place where other people other than the bachelorette
- 23:01Speaker 2: party would be.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Oh, it seemed like a rented out space, which was
- 23:05Speaker 1: embarrassing for Cirle. Yeah, but you know, have you seen
- 23:08Speaker 1: the movie The Hangover? Of course, you know he goes
- 23:11Speaker 1: to his bachelor party two nights before his wedding.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's not realistic. No, you go like a
- 23:15Speaker 2: month before.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Yes, you want to be relaxed and not rushed. I
- 23:20Speaker 1: would I would rather not have a bachelorette party than
- 23:22Speaker 1: go two nights before my wed Did you have a
- 23:24Speaker 1: bachelorette party? We went to Glen Ivy. Oh that's nice,
- 23:28Speaker 1: very nice. Yeah, it was nice. I like that. You
- 23:31Speaker 1: know I'm not the Penis Sucker bride to be sash
- 23:38Speaker 1: wearing kind of lady fair enough. You know I met lollipop.
- 23:45Speaker 1: What is lollipop by Sucker?
- 23:46Speaker 2: Oh?
- 23:46Speaker 1: Yes I did?
- 23:48Speaker 2: Okay, can we talk about how terrible and dowdy those
- 23:55Speaker 2: bridesmat dresses were?
- 23:56Speaker 1: I just don't like red. No, it's it's too like.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Holiday ish, right, yeah, like dark burgundy color.
- 24:05Speaker 1: They were like the convertible dress that was very famous
- 24:08Speaker 1: several years ago, where they're like, you can wear it
- 24:10Speaker 1: as a holder, you can wear it as two straps,
- 24:11Speaker 1: you can wear it as a band. No, it didn't.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Isn't that what it looked like to you? It was?
- 24:14Speaker 1: It was giving it. It was awful.
- 24:16Speaker 2: It was not something that I think anybody would wear
- 24:18Speaker 2: in twenty twenty two.
- 24:19Speaker 1: And then they're scene where they all come clumping down
- 24:23Speaker 1: the stairs. I was like, is this what?
- 24:26Speaker 2: No?
- 24:27Speaker 1: So weird? And how have you never seen them in
- 24:29Speaker 1: their dresses? I know, I know. Did you like the
- 24:32Speaker 1: bride's dress? I did very much?
- 24:35Speaker 2: Actually, yeah, it was very pretty vintage. I liked I
- 24:38Speaker 2: liked it a lot.
- 24:39Speaker 1: I have another wedding comment. Okay, you don't demote your
- 24:43Speaker 1: maid of honor. No, if Megan cannot make it to
- 24:47Speaker 1: the wedding for whatever reason, then you can have someone
- 24:50Speaker 1: else give her speech. But that person doesn't become made
- 24:52Speaker 1: of honor. Okay, yeah, that's fair.
- 24:55Speaker 2: She was still going to be there. Wow, Okay, and
- 24:58Speaker 2: I have this question like they're like, wait, it's like
- 25:01Speaker 2: the wedding is getting ready to start, and they're like,
- 25:04Speaker 2: she's almost here, but she's stuck in traffic. Don't you
- 25:06Speaker 2: say to your your wedding people who come and see,
- 25:09Speaker 2: they say, my sister, my maid of honor, is.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I think for three days to get here. We're gonna
- 25:16Speaker 1: hold the We hold.
- 25:17Speaker 2: The wedding for another hour so she can get here.
- 25:20Speaker 2: I'm sorry, have a cocktail?
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yes? Absolutely. I was like, this does not make sense.
- 25:27Speaker 1: How does she not know where the where the where
- 25:29Speaker 1: the wedding is? It's her sister, she's the maid of honor.
- 25:31Speaker 1: They grew up there town where she's from? You? Yes,
- 25:34Speaker 1: just like where is that? Okay?
- 25:36Speaker 2: That that whole storyline?
- 25:40Speaker 1: What's her name again?
- 25:41Speaker 2: Ella?
- 25:41Speaker 1: Della? The fact that she tries to sabotage the.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Wedding by telling Megan it's at a different church, right,
- 25:50Speaker 2: and then like pulls up behind her and she's like,
- 25:52Speaker 2: I'm such a terrible person, and they just all laugh
- 25:56Speaker 2: it off like it's that that chick is not well,
- 25:59Speaker 2: like something is wrong there, and they're like, oh, that's
- 26:04Speaker 2: so sweet of you to let her to be the
- 26:05Speaker 2: made of honor, because what it came down to you
- 26:09Speaker 2: is she was afraid that the best man, who she
- 26:13Speaker 2: maybe had eyes.
- 26:14Speaker 1: For, was going to be interested in Meghan instead. Yeah,
- 26:19Speaker 1: there's a lot going on there, right. First of all,
- 26:23Speaker 1: I don't know they paint Della as this like meek
- 26:25Speaker 1: and mild, like doesn't have any confidence in herself. But again,
- 26:33Speaker 1: like I said a few minutes ago, the only point
- 26:36Speaker 1: at which she actually shows that is when she tells
- 26:39Speaker 1: Megan the wrong church, right, and then she has to
- 26:42Speaker 1: like explain, she has to tell, not show why she
- 26:45Speaker 1: did that, because prior to this, all we knew is
- 26:48Speaker 1: that she's meek and mile Deella who had at every
- 26:51Speaker 1: turn not wanted to over. She wasn't trying to be like,
- 26:54Speaker 1: oh no, no, I'll take that off, and she wasn't
- 26:56Speaker 1: trying to take it on. She just accepted it when
- 26:59Speaker 1: it was thrust upon her. And yeah, she ended up
- 27:01Speaker 1: having a good time giving that speech. Why not, she's there,
- 27:03Speaker 1: she's doing it, she is she supposed to be miserable
- 27:06Speaker 1: doing it. Does that make her a terrible person because
- 27:08Speaker 1: she delivered the speech? Well? Right? Also, if you are
- 27:14Speaker 1: so concerned that the person you like is going to
- 27:17Speaker 1: immediately fall for someone else because they walk down the
- 27:19Speaker 1: aisle with them, maybe that's not the person for you.
- 27:22Speaker 2: There are so many things wrong with her. This is
- 27:25Speaker 2: where the movie went and like left turn for me.
- 27:27Speaker 1: I was like, but if you are made of honor,
- 27:30Speaker 1: can't make it to the wedding. First of all, she
- 27:32Speaker 1: was going to make it. But if she couldn't, would
- 27:33Speaker 1: you be like, Okay, now you're the maid of honor. Oh,
- 27:35Speaker 1: wouldn't you be like my sister was my maid of honor.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I'm so sorry she can't be here, Like, yeah, let's
- 27:41Speaker 1: have a toast in her honor. Yeah, and then my bridesmaid,
- 27:44Speaker 1: Della is going to give a speech. Right.
- 27:46Speaker 2: And have you ever been to a wedding where the
- 27:48Speaker 2: bridesmaids were corsages?
- 27:50Speaker 1: Not corsages? Booneers, boooneers. Oh, oh, let's talk about other
- 27:54Speaker 1: terrible wedding planning. Because four days before the wedding, they
- 27:58Speaker 1: have not decided what's going to go on flowers, and
- 28:01Speaker 1: the mom's like, I don't know, maybe carnations.
- 28:03Speaker 2: I'm like, I know my head almost like carnations and
- 28:06Speaker 2: baby breath.
- 28:08Speaker 1: She goes carnations and roses. I was like, roses fine,
- 28:10Speaker 1: but carnations, what's happening? I don't know.
- 28:12Speaker 2: And then I think that I said, like, we have
- 28:14Speaker 2: baby's breath like all over a garden, and I was like,
- 28:17Speaker 2: do you I've never seen that.
- 28:20Speaker 1: I thought, how does baby's breath grow? I don't know,
- 28:23Speaker 1: like on a bush on a look like I hate
- 28:28Speaker 1: I dislike baby's breath and call me an elitist, but
- 28:33Speaker 1: it is a filler flower totally.
- 28:36Speaker 2: But I still could not understand why they were wearing
- 28:38Speaker 2: boutin ears, Like why didn't they have like a bouquet
- 28:40Speaker 2: that they walked.
- 28:40Speaker 1: In a tiny little, tiny little one never ever seen
- 28:45Speaker 1: that or none at all. Yeah, it was.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Weird, weird, weird. Here's one question their trek from Ginver
- 28:55Speaker 2: to Whichita. Why didn't these two bozos like just go
- 28:59Speaker 2: to another air like I know they said that they
- 29:01Speaker 2: couldn't go to the other one in Colorado because it
- 29:04Speaker 2: was going to be busy, But I don't.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Geography is not my thing, and I know that.
- 29:08Speaker 2: That is what you're looking up right now, Like how
- 29:10Speaker 2: far is Colorado from Kansas?
- 29:13Speaker 1: And is there another airport in between? So Denver to
- 29:15Speaker 1: Wichita is a seven and a half hour.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Drive, Okay, so that's eight and a half that's like
- 29:20Speaker 2: here to Arizona, oh a little bit more.
- 29:23Speaker 1: And the reason they didn't is there's there's nothing. No. Oh,
- 29:30Speaker 1: you know, the middle of the country is things are
- 29:32Speaker 1: real spread out. No, Okay.
- 29:35Speaker 2: I just feel like here in southern California, we can
- 29:37Speaker 2: go like fifty miles one way, you know what I mean,
- 29:41Speaker 2: and find another airport if one airport isn't on strike, there.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Are no other options. They did what they had to do.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I mean maybe there's a tiny little regional airport in there,
- 29:49Speaker 1: but this is a whole lot of nothing between Denver
- 29:52Speaker 1: and Wichita.
- 29:53Speaker 2: All right, fine, fine, fine? And then how many car
- 29:55Speaker 2: problems can one person have?
- 29:57Speaker 1: Right? So their first rental car gets stolen? Right?
- 30:00Speaker 2: And then Alton not his name is not Alton Alton
- 30:04Speaker 2: Brown buys a Toyota that she kind of like put
- 30:08Speaker 2: her nose up to you, and like I used to
- 30:09Speaker 2: work for Toyota, and those are great cars and they
- 30:12Speaker 2: last a really long time.
- 30:13Speaker 1: It's rusty. It wasn't that bad. I mean got them
- 30:17Speaker 1: from A to B yeah.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Right, okay, and then what happened to that car?
- 30:21Speaker 1: It broke down. It broke down because they swerve off
- 30:24Speaker 1: the road into a ditch. Okay. And then after that
- 30:27Speaker 1: they take the tow truck right two days later, and
- 30:31Speaker 1: the tow truck has issues, but they are quickly resolved.
- 30:34Speaker 1: At no point, the tow truck driver comes and it's
- 30:38Speaker 1: like late at night and they're like, so we'll just
- 30:39Speaker 1: go to dinner while you fix the car. And I
- 30:40Speaker 1: was like, first of all, you bozos are so friggin entitled,
- 30:43Speaker 1: like the small town tow truck driver. It's dark outside, right,
- 30:47Speaker 1: But if they don't talk about the timeline, because the
- 30:49Speaker 1: next morning they wake up and they're like, well, you're
- 30:51Speaker 1: going to fix the cars, like not today, I'm not working.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Like at what point why did he not say, like,
- 30:56Speaker 1: I can't fix your car tomorrow because we're off the
- 30:59Speaker 1: grid for the re Ren Fair that's eight hundred hours long,
- 31:03Speaker 1: or why did they not say like, hey, we're kind
- 31:05Speaker 1: of on the clock. Is there an alternative here? Yeah?
- 31:09Speaker 1: Like or you know, are you going to be able
- 31:10Speaker 1: to fix it tomorrow?
- 31:13Speaker 2: Anyway, there's so many problems with this movie.
- 31:16Speaker 1: And then they sleep in a tent. What I know?
- 31:20Speaker 1: And I I had they bring out the tent, and
- 31:23Speaker 1: I had two feelings. He goes, we're sleeping in a tent,
- 31:26Speaker 1: and I was like, well, don't be so elitist. At
- 31:28Speaker 1: least they're giving you somewhere to sleep. But then I
- 31:30Speaker 1: was like, this guy said, we're empty nesters. We got room. Yeah,
- 31:35Speaker 1: let them sleep on the floor of your stupid sewing room.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Why would they put them in a tent outside
- 31:39Speaker 2: in their front yard?
- 31:40Speaker 1: It looks like, yeah, they got sleeping bags. Let them
- 31:43Speaker 1: sleep on the living room power couch. Yes, Like what
- 31:45Speaker 1: the heck you let them? You gave them your clothes. Yeah,
- 31:49Speaker 1: that was weird. And that couple was weird too. Oh
- 31:51Speaker 1: I have one more. Did you see that When they
- 31:53Speaker 1: are all dressed up in their renfair regalia. Alden says like, hey,
- 31:59Speaker 1: I kind of like this hi, And then he like
- 32:01Speaker 1: waggles back and forth, and my husband I was like,
- 32:04Speaker 1: did he just like swing his wang back? And and
- 32:06Speaker 1: he was like, what are you talking about? I said,
- 32:08Speaker 1: he said, I like his kill and then he swings
- 32:11Speaker 1: his hips from side to side like he's free underneath there,
- 32:16Speaker 1: and she's like, we call that a skirt. But he
- 32:18Speaker 1: definitely was like wanging it, wanging it. Huh what I got?
- 32:23Speaker 1: That's so funny.
- 32:25Speaker 2: I know we didn't talk about this, but did you
- 32:27Speaker 2: find any chemistry between Alden and a little bit right?
- 32:32Speaker 2: I kind of it was believable because I was like,
- 32:35Speaker 2: they have a lot in common. Yeah, right, they're passionate
- 32:38Speaker 2: about the same stuff, like whatever.
- 32:40Speaker 1: They were high school rivals. What miss been?
- 32:42Speaker 2: Real?
- 32:43Speaker 1: Small town right where? Ya? No, I didn't can name
- 32:47Speaker 1: you anybody from my local neighboring in high school.
- 32:50Speaker 2: No, you know, but I have found it believable between them.
- 32:55Speaker 1: I did too. Yeah, that was the least offensive part
- 32:57Speaker 1: of this movie. I agree. Everybody else just kind of
- 33:00Speaker 1: sucked totally. Would you like to rate this movie?
- 33:02Speaker 2: Sure, go ahead, big fat stinker.
- 33:04Speaker 1: One star? I have it too, really, yeah, because it
- 33:08Speaker 1: wasn't as offensive as last week?
- 33:10Speaker 2: Okay, fine, Well, I you know, I don't even know
- 33:13Speaker 2: because you told me last week you said one star,
- 33:15Speaker 2: and I think I gasped. I don't know if I
- 33:18Speaker 2: even shared my last week's rating. It was three It
- 33:20Speaker 2: was three star last week.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that was a fair rating for the
- 33:25Speaker 1: movie aside from its content.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Yeah, this was just so boring and so many things
- 33:30Speaker 2: wrong with it.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Agreed. So we have a bonus Friday episode tomorrow where
- 33:36Speaker 1: we will be discussing Heart of the Matters starring Amy t. Garden,
