- 0:00Well, we're back again and it's so good to hear from you again.
- 0:04I want to encourage folks who are just tuning in or have been
- 0:07with us that this is as much about you as it is about me
- 0:11exploring the 5th Epical Revelation, a revolutionary
- 0:14spiritual document we know as the Ranch Book.
- 0:17And we are going to be blessed to have a guest coming in.
- 0:21We've had her on before. Her name is Marjorie Ray.
- 0:24A little bit about Marjorie. She is a scientist at heart,
- 0:28actually a retired biochemist, she was given the Rancho Book
- 0:32about 45 years ago. John Mills, also a trained
- 0:35scientist, was an early and profound influence upon her
- 0:39studies, and after she graduated in Florida, Margie became a
- 0:43scientist at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
- 0:46Birmingham, such a great city, having participated in some of
- 0:50the largest science endeavors on the planet, including six NASA
- 0:55Space Shuttle missions, a Soyuz, and one SpaceX mission to space
- 1:00station, Margie continues to find coherence in both science
- 1:05and personal religious experience as it is revealed in
- 1:09the Urantia Book. Now in her 7th decade, she hopes
- 1:12to be more service to the Urantia Book community.
- 1:15And boy is she. We're going to spend a lot of
- 1:17time talking about the present state of the Urantia movement,
- 1:21what fascinates her about the teachings, and so much more.
- 1:25There is an upcoming scientific symposium that's going to be
- 1:29available for people to watch online.
- 1:31And it's going to feature an array of of great thinkers who
- 1:35also happen to be ardent Durantia book students talking
- 1:38about a wide range, a scientific subject.
- 1:41So we're looking forward to that.
- 1:42And Marjorie is coordinating it along with a team of great
- 1:45supporters. And I also want to give a real
- 1:48big thanks to Joanne Strobel for helping to coordinate, but not
- 1:52only some of the people that we're speaking to, but behind
- 1:56the scenes doing so much great work for the Urantia Foundation.
- 2:00So we'll be joined by Marjorie Ray on the other side.
- 2:04Hang on. We'll continue in just a moment.
- 2:05You're listening to the Urantia Radio Podcast, and I'm your
- 2:09host, Jim Watkins. So welcome back and we're going
- 2:45to talk about what's coming up at this Science Science
- 2:48Symposium. But before we jump into that, I
- 2:50do want to talk to you about various events that you've been
- 2:54telling me about. And one of them up in San
- 2:57Francisco not long ago. And you mentioned you were also
- 3:01in in Israel not long ago. You've been doing a lot of
- 3:04traveling and it sounds like you're meeting with a lot of
- 3:06different folks from all over the place, part of the growing
- 3:10Urantia community, and I'm very excited about that.
- 3:13Can you share some of the more exciting things that have been
- 3:16going on that you you've been able to experience?
- 3:20Well, yeah, thank you, Jim, for having me, first of all.
- 3:23But yeah, I've been pretty fortunate.
- 3:25I've been lucky. I didn't get to go to Israel,
- 3:27but our friends, the rememberbs that do live in Israel, met me
- 3:31in Greece and I was there for a family wedding.
- 3:36I went early so that I could be with Gabriel and Sandra and we
- 3:40just had a lovely time. We made the trip to Corinth, to
- 3:43ancient Corinth. And of course we read the the
- 3:47paper with when Jesus was there with Gainad.
- 3:51And I read that in the car as as Gabriel drove us over to
- 3:56Corinth. And so we were all just so
- 4:00excited and the museum there is just fantastic.
- 4:04And they finally have found the stone that represented that.
- 4:10They know where the synagogue was actually located in old
- 4:14Corinth. And they had only unearthed that
- 4:17in the last few years. And that was a sort of a big
- 4:20deal. So we got to take a picture of
- 4:21that and see it and it was just really exciting to, I mean, they
- 4:28live in Israel. So they, you know, they, they're
- 4:30there all the time where Jesus walked, but I have never been.
- 4:33So I, this was the first time I had actually physically been to
- 4:38a place where Jesus had actually been.
- 4:41And so I, I have to say, I was just awed that I was standing
- 4:46and walking on the same ground that our beloved Michael did,
- 4:50you know, while he was here as Jesus.
- 4:52So that was just so much, just so much fun and so inspiring.
- 4:58And Greece is just such a beautiful country and the people
- 5:01are just wonderful. And so that was really good.
- 5:05And then I went to a rancher book retreat that was sponsored
- 5:09by the Golden Gate Society in Menlo Park a week before last
- 5:15and it was just so much fun. And Paula Thompson was a
- 5:19facilitator and we got to spend 2 full days talking about Jesus
- 5:25and his teachings and how we can carry those on or recognize
- 5:31things out of our life that are, you know, that kind of his life
- 5:36has informed perhaps our lives. And it was just a it was very
- 5:42inspiring, really. And it was done.
- 5:44It was in a beautiful place in, in Menlo Park that was had
- 5:47gorgeous gardens and we got to walk in it and it was good.
- 5:51There's just so many wonderful activities.
- 5:54I'm on the the IC is going to be in in a Sylmar and I among the
- 6:02committee for for that. We're having a meeting about it
- 6:04tomorrow that will be next summer.
- 6:07So that's a big thing that's going to be coming up plan, you
- 6:09know, work on your calendar July of 26 for going to, you know,
- 6:16the International Conference. So that that'll be fun.
- 6:18The Solomar is also an amazing place because some huge
- 6:24conferences that based on science and the moral and
- 6:27ethical use of science had been held on this very spot that
- 6:31we're getting ready to, we're going to have our international
- 6:34meeting at. So that's, that's kind of
- 6:36exciting for me as a, as a science person.
- 6:40There's just so many other wonderful projects being done by
- 6:44so many different organizations, you know, the world over.
- 6:48I'm, I'm very active in the Center for Unity and we're
- 6:53rolling out projects all the time and it's just exciting to
- 6:58be a part of that. You know that all those projects
- 7:03that are that are coming. So you'll be hearing and seeing,
- 7:07if you follow the Center for Unity, you'll be seeing a lot of
- 7:11new stuff roll out over the next few weeks.
- 7:14Some of it is going to is pretty, pretty staggering
- 7:18actually, the amount of work that's been done, but also what
- 7:21it's produced. So anyway, I'm just excited.
- 7:25I'm excited for the future of the revelation.
- 7:28I just think we're, we're, we're doing and, and being so much,
- 7:32you know, being very effective so.
- 7:34Yeah, I, I talked earlier, it was about the African
- 7:38Urantiathan, which, you know, I was excited to see too.
- 7:42Oh, yeah. I can't wait.
- 7:44Yeah, yeah. I did You go to the last.
- 7:47The last one was there's this young girl from Nigeria and and
- 7:53I talked with April Helen when we were down in Menlo Park and
- 7:56she, she knows this young lady, that young lady, she was only
- 8:01like 16 when she talked the last time.
- 8:03I think she's going to talk this time.
- 8:05She is absolutely fantastic. She is going to be one of the
- 8:11great leaders of the revelation, be it internationally or or in
- 8:16Africa, I don't know which. But she, when you, once you hear
- 8:19her speak, you just realize that there is there is so much
- 8:24brilliance there and so much deep, deep commitment and
- 8:28spirituality in this young lady. It's just awning to see it.
- 8:32So I can't wait for the your, you know, to for the your
- 8:37erasure. I, I listened to every minute of
- 8:39it last time. It was great.
- 8:41And so I'm really looking forward to it this time too.
- 8:44So for sure. You seem seems like we're at a
- 8:46can maybe a tipping point. Would you say maybe that there's
- 8:49enough awareness now? We're, we're, we're not quite
- 8:52mainstream, but we're getting to the outer fringes of it and, you
- 8:56know. Yeah, I think we're, you know,
- 9:00we're going to make some, some inroads, you know, in, in the
- 9:05next few years. I'm 76 now.
- 9:08I hope it's going to be in my lifetime, but maybe not.
- 9:11It's it's there's just, well, it's because there's a lot of
- 9:17need. You know, people are, are with
- 9:21all of the chaos that's going on in the world over, people are,
- 9:24are still looking for, you know, they're, they're still
- 9:29spiritually seeking. They're looking for, you know,
- 9:33comfort and, and, you know, resolution to, to the questions
- 9:37that they have in their, you know, in their hearts and in
- 9:39their minds. And so, you know, the time is
- 9:43sort of ripe to, to present the revelation is an alternative way
- 9:49to look at the history of, you know, of our planet and how
- 9:53humans evolve and how our, particularly our spiritual
- 9:57lives, you know, evolve. And so I, I, yes, I feel very
- 10:03much so. And as far as science is
- 10:04concerned, you know, particularly in the areas like
- 10:07cosmology or, or, you know, biochemistry or genetics, the
- 10:12whole deal, there's, there's just more and more discoveries
- 10:15made all the time that, you know, bring our science a lot
- 10:22closer to what is in, in the book.
- 10:25And so we actually have the Jeff Taylor is going to sort of take
- 10:31that whole topic on and and his topic at the symposium is, is
- 10:39the Urantia book scientifically plausible?
- 10:42And he looks at a a number of assertions, scientific
- 10:46assertions in the book and relates them to things that have
- 10:50been published or, you know, discovered in very recent years.
- 10:55OK. And so it, that should be a
- 10:58very, very, you know, interesting talk and.
- 11:01Then that would be a very that would be worth the price of
- 11:04admission. You know I.
- 11:07Was going to dovetail on that. I've seen more now than I've
- 11:10seen in a while. There's more scientific
- 11:13assertions that that that through science and mathematics,
- 11:17they're being able to recognize that there are patterns now that
- 11:20we recognize as being indicative of intelligence, you know,
- 11:25intelligent design and so forth. And there doesn't seem to be as
- 11:29much of A pushback A pushback. Would you say that despite our
- 11:35best efforts, are we becoming more spiritual, do you think?
- 11:40Well, I mean, I of course, the adjectives are certainly, you
- 11:44know, and, and, and all of all of our universe, mother spirit
- 11:48and ours is pushing us. Hopefully that, you know, that
- 11:52way. I think that, that, you know, we
- 11:54have this huge group of young people the world over who really
- 12:02are rejecting organized religion per SE.
- 12:05They, they just don't have a lot, They don't want to put a
- 12:09time or energy into that because they, they really, they either
- 12:15don't find relevance or, or they, they, they can't harmonize
- 12:19with it. They can't accept some of the
- 12:20tenants or whatever their reason is, but yet they are truth
- 12:26seekers and they are are they are spiritually yearning to, to,
- 12:30you know, for something. They know that there is many
- 12:35things greater than themselves and they're they're trying to
- 12:38to, to put it all together for themselves.
- 12:41And so, yeah, I think so. I think, you know, the the next
- 12:47the millennials on are are much more poised to now I'm talking
- 12:55about globally, maybe not in your local area in the United
- 13:01States, particularly because there's there's still some
- 13:04tremendous holes on, you know, evangelicals and all that.
- 13:08And that's just got to work itself out, you know.
- 13:11But at the worldwide, I think absolutely, you know, it's and
- 13:16certainly in South America, Central America and Africa, it's
- 13:20just, you know, everything's just burgeoning.
- 13:23I mean, it's just that's where that's where all of our young
- 13:26people are. Not all of them, but the
- 13:28majority of the young people that are really engaging with
- 13:31Revelation, that's where they are at the moment, you know, so.
- 13:36We have to take note though, or I, I sense it with the death of
- 13:40Kirk and now with the Israel and a possible Hamas thing that's
- 13:46going on, which is pretty important as on a social level,
- 13:50at least that's the way it's, you know, I see it and you know,
- 13:54clearly things there's like a yearning for less war and more
- 13:59peace on, on the on the street level on.
- 14:03Now, maybe that's not the case on the political level up there,
- 14:07but it does seem that people like you say are reaching.
- 14:10They're looking for answers that are more substantive these days
- 14:14and they're not getting it from social media.
- 14:17It's, you know, that we, we we all know the statistics and the
- 14:21loneliness, you know, and all that and mental illness.
- 14:25And so you're right, I think maybe that is pushing us
- 14:28towards. But something that I think the
- 14:30evangelists and the Urantia book people have in common is that we
- 14:36keep, you know, we're anticipating that something big
- 14:38is about to happen. Do you get that feeling too from
- 14:41talking to people in the Rancho community that they're
- 14:44anticipating something or? I'm not trying to say that there
- 14:47is, I'm just wondering 'cause that seems to be what?
- 14:49I'm seeing from the Christian. Community.
- 14:52Yeah, I think from the Christian, yeah, they want it to
- 14:56be the end times and all that sort of stuff.
- 14:57But I think people that are particularly well grounded in
- 15:02the Urantia book, there's always been those who, you know, think
- 15:05that Jesus is going to come tomorrow.
- 15:07I mean, that we've had people here on this planet that, you
- 15:10know, right after he, he, he died and he left.
- 15:14They still thought he was coming tomorrow, You know, and there's
- 15:17still there are people within the Urantia book that thinks
- 15:20that. And there are many Christians
- 15:21now that think that he's, you know, going to, that these are
- 15:25in Tom's and he's going to, you know, he's going to come.
- 15:29But if you're well grounded in the in the book, you, you
- 15:32realize that we may be in a time of, of, you know, retrogression
- 15:37or, you know, when things are, are really chaotic and there are
- 15:41times that's that that societies take giant steps backwards, but
- 15:46then that allows them to move forward ultimately.
- 15:50OK. And so, you know, it's that
- 15:52statement about, you know, sometimes your most, you know,
- 15:56it has to do your, your most cherished idea or whatever has
- 16:00to die for it to be reborn into something new and better.
- 16:04OK. But I think people that are
- 16:07really well grounded in the arrangement book realize that
- 16:09this is just, you know, a phase. And we are just like those 1st
- 16:16century Christians, you know, our job is to make sure that it
- 16:20moves forward, that it goes forward, that it doesn't, you
- 16:23know, become a dusty old book that's on some old library
- 16:27shelves and, and nobody ever, you know, engages with it at
- 16:31all. OK, that's our job.
- 16:33That's our job now. And the and, and to, you know,
- 16:37just like it says in the book, you know, forward thinking men
- 16:40and, and women that, you know, that can present a modern, you
- 16:45know, every generation has to have its interpretation of Jesus
- 16:50and that it calls for that in the in the book.
- 16:54And I think we, you know, when we look at those quotes, we
- 16:57realize that that's our responsibility, you know, is to
- 17:00get it from our generation and and secured in the next or even
- 17:05the next in the next before we leave the planet.
- 17:09And so, so, you know, we, we are, I, I can tell you that a
- 17:15lot of the people that I talked to that are, that are older,
- 17:18like me, we're, we're, you know, we're getting ready to see one
- 17:21of the greatest shifts of, of financial shifts that's ever
- 17:25occurred in mankind from one generation to another, when the
- 17:28baby boomers leave the planet and leave their, all of their
- 17:32resources off on the millennials or, you know, whoever.
- 17:36So it's it's a, you know, a time that we realize that it it it's
- 17:44our responsibility to make sure that things, you know, things go
- 17:47forward in into the future. What are what are we going to
- 17:50leave, you know, for our young people to have to work with in
- 17:55in the future? OK.
- 17:56And so a lot of older people are are really thinking along, you
- 18:02know, along these lines that are part of the movement that I've
- 18:05been I've been speaking with, you know, we're we're trying to
- 18:10encourage young people to, you know, get involved and, and, and
- 18:17the what it takes to move the revelation, you know, forward so
- 18:22that it doesn't become a dusty old tone that nobody ever wants
- 18:26to refer to, you know, or anything there.
- 18:29There's other areas that need to be done.
- 18:32I mean, it, it doesn't have in the, the book itself needs for
- 18:37it to get to go forward is it's got to eventually develop some
- 18:42academic, you know, credibility and that's going to take a lot,
- 18:48a lot doing. We got a lot, we got people that
- 18:49are working on that area too. OK.
- 18:52So yeah, you know. It's looking at the upcoming
- 18:56itinerary. For example, many of the people
- 18:59that will be presenting at the do you like the Zoom format as
- 19:03opposed to the symposium where the old days where people would
- 19:07actually travel. Do you think it'll ever get back
- 19:10to that at some point? Or have we all just decided we
- 19:13don't like to travel? Because I think there's a
- 19:15different vibration when you're there and.
- 19:17Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 19:18I totally, yeah, I totally. We, we originally planned on
- 19:22this one being, you know, originating at the foundation
- 19:26and I was going to be at the foundation for the, for it.
- 19:30And, but we, a number of our presenters, and if you look down
- 19:35this, this list of people that are presenting, with the
- 19:37exception of of one or two or three guy, the rest majority of
- 19:42them are, you know, they're, they're of my generation or even
- 19:46a little older, OK. And so, and now that they're
- 19:51distant people like Nigel Nunn, that's in Australia, he, he came
- 19:56to the first one and that it, and that was very difficult
- 20:00'cause, you know, just getting on normal time where he was
- 20:04awake and, and when we were all awake, it was really difficult
- 20:07for him, you know. And so, and with Gabriel being
- 20:11in Israel, you know, and they're both, both presenters, it's, it
- 20:16makes it really tough. So being.
- 20:18Virtual it, it makes it a little bit.
- 20:21Then some of our older presenters have personal
- 20:25situations that were not going to allow them to travel, even
- 20:29though in the past they had traveled to the foundation, but
- 20:32they were not in a position to do it now.
- 20:34It just did. It turned out there was only
- 20:37going to be me and maybe 1-1 or two other people there.
- 20:40So it, we moved it back to being totally virtual.
- 20:45I hope you know one day that that the, you know, that the
- 20:52symposium will be in person, but it will be in person in a much
- 20:58larger format, You know, where there are people that can come
- 21:02to it and, and sit in the audience and listen and engage
- 21:06with the scientists on a personal basis at dinner and
- 21:10lunch or whatever. And, and ask and have a lot of,
- 21:13you know, a lot of good conversation because that's what
- 21:17really stimulates people. I mean, it's one thing to listen
- 21:20to a Zoom, but and even ask a question on a Zoom, but it's a
- 21:24different thing when you're sitting across the table from
- 21:26somebody and, you know, looking into their eyes and and asking
- 21:31them and having a personal conversation, you know?
- 21:35Absolutely. I think trade shows of all ilk.
- 21:39I think we could probably be in a position maybe to sponsor an
- 21:44event where we would welcome clergy and people of science and
- 21:47people of anthropology and have them all sit in in one room and,
- 21:52and under we would choose the itinerary of the topics about
- 21:56how to integrate these sciences with metaphysics and so forth.
- 22:00So I see a great future and we're we're getting there.
- 22:03I think we'll get there eventually.
- 22:06What you know, I, I've been giving a lot of thought to two
- 22:09things. One is the Seraphic planetary
- 22:12government, which I've been reading and talking about,
- 22:14thinking about. And I and I seem to see like,
- 22:18yeah, for those who don't know, Paper 114, terrific read.
- 22:22And it talks about what angels actually do and how they engage
- 22:25with us and, and that they have, they have lives, they have jobs,
- 22:30you know, they, they all, it's think of it in terms of a
- 22:34parallel reality. It's occurring in the same time
- 22:37that we're in, although their perspective different because
- 22:40they're, you know, eternal beings.
- 22:41But be that as it may, they're, they're integrated.
- 22:44They have the 12 councils, different groups of angels and
- 22:47seraphim that work on different aspects of human progress.
- 22:51And I found it inspiring to know that we're not in this alone,
- 22:54that there are forces as the Urantia book.
- 22:57And it's one of the big reveals of the Urantia book, is that we
- 23:01really do exist in an ecosystem of sorts.
- 23:04We just don't know it. Right, right.
- 23:06We, we, we, we think we're hanging out by ourselves, but
- 23:09we're not. Yeah.
- 23:11I mean, there are more important things going on.
- 23:13What you said a little while ago about the transfer of moving
- 23:16forward and making sure that we can serve what the Urantia book
- 23:20has to say so that the next generation also finds it and it
- 23:24doesn't get lost. And I think that's one of the
- 23:27topics I think they're talking about in the symposium to
- 23:30carrying that knowledge forward. I certainly take that as is the
- 23:34the driving force behind these podcast.
- 23:37I, I think touching people where they are and assuming that they
- 23:41don't that know that much, just like the Melchizedek ministers,
- 23:46you know, the, the, the, the ones that went out, what do they
- 23:49call those? The missionaries, You know, they
- 23:52took what Melchizedek taught them and then they went out and,
- 23:56and tried to teach it to the masses as best they could.
- 23:58And I, I, I kind of take that as this role.
- 24:02What drives you? I mean, does, does that not
- 24:05drive you? We're talking about a revelation
- 24:07here, right? It's pretty important.
- 24:09Right, You're, you're talking about a revelation.
- 24:12But you know, for me, you know, personally, you know, because
- 24:20religion, your, your spiritual belief in your religion is very,
- 24:24you know, very personal. But it's my relationships with
- 24:29other people and working in groups to, you know, learn or,
- 24:35or to, to learn enough that we, we and to, to push it, you know,
- 24:40push it down the road, you know, down to the next generation.
- 24:45It's this, this personal contact with these, you know, people.
- 24:49It's like the 10 people that are going to be giving these papers.
- 24:53OK, I, I know all these people. I've known them for, you know,
- 24:57some of them for quite a number of years and we've had some
- 25:02really deep, you know, deep conversations, but yet we, we
- 25:07all, you know, we share the revelation, but our, our in our
- 25:11lives, we work it personally, it's very personal, it's very
- 25:15individual. We know that we are absolutely
- 25:18unique in how we do that, you know, And so it, it's the, for
- 25:25me, it's this, this contact with my brothers and sisters.
- 25:30It's my, it's this thing about I, I have all of these
- 25:34wonderful, wonderful brothers and sisters out there.
- 25:39And the more of them I can meet and work with and talk with and,
- 25:45and do projects with and, and just experience this amazing
- 25:51life that we've been granted. That's what drives me.
- 25:55I mean, literally, I mean, talking to people like you, you
- 25:59know, and, and just I've been doing some podcasts with
- 26:04Santiago Nealon and we've been doing it.
- 26:08We've been talking about Star Wars, OK, because I love Star
- 26:11Wars. But anyway, and, and but it's,
- 26:15you know, the archetypes and stuff in Star Wars, young people
- 26:20can relate to that, that sort of stuff.
- 26:23And so and you can talk to them about Star Wars and you can also
- 26:26say, but you know, Luke made a choice to do this or, you know,
- 26:31somebody did this or they were looking for redemption.
- 26:35You know, you can talk about things like seeking forgiveness
- 26:38and seeking redemption or, you know, in, in terms that in very
- 26:45modern terms of because, you know, we live with our
- 26:48generation and the one after have lived a lot of our lives
- 26:51watching movies, you know, And so there are ways that you can
- 26:55point these sort of things out and young people, you know, kind
- 27:02of resonate with it. OK.
- 27:03And that's that's all you wanna do is just, you know, resonate
- 27:08with them so that they they continue to seek, continue to
- 27:12look for, you know, wholeness in themselves and their
- 27:17relationship with God. And and, you know, don't feel
- 27:21alone, you know, no, don't feel that we're alone out here.
- 27:25That that's yeah, I certainly. Maybe you know.
- 27:28Yeah, yeah, I, I don't, I certainly do not feel that.
- 27:31I mean, even though I'm here in my, my little house with, even
- 27:34though I have a fantastic garden and I have wonderful neighbors
- 27:37and I live in a great community. I, you know, I'm, I'm often in
- 27:41here working on different projects and stuff, but I will
- 27:44tell you, I never feel alone. I just do not feel alone.
- 27:49I just feel like I'm surrounded by all of all of these things
- 27:54that, that want things to, to be good for us, you know, and I
- 27:58just don't, I'm not, I'm not lonely.
- 28:01I don't, I'd have no, you know, I, there's just, God has given
- 28:06me too many blessings to feel lonely.
- 28:10So, so and I, I want to express that to other people that, you
- 28:15know, this, this. Yeah.
- 28:16That is it. That's it.
- 28:17You nailed it. Yeah, you, yeah, you can get to
- 28:21that place, you know, and so, but a lot of it is, is just
- 28:26engagement, you know, engagement with other people.
- 28:28So I appreciate the chance to talk to you, you know.
- 28:31You know, I wonder, like of all these people in there, all these
- 28:34wonderful people that are coming up, you're even you yourself.
- 28:38I've always made it a point that my closest friends, people that
- 28:41I've known for a long time, know that I read the book and and I
- 28:44don't go into too much of it, but I make it clear, you know,
- 28:48I'm out of I'm an out of the closet Urantia guy.
- 28:51You know, if somebody you know, but how many of us are are there
- 28:55that where where we boldly will bring it up or, you know, not
- 29:00have any issue. But surprisingly, this is the
- 29:03lesson that I don't, I, I haven't learned is that nobody
- 29:06asks questions. Very few people ever ask what
- 29:09does it say about this or what does it say about that or what
- 29:12is it? What's the Urantia viewpoint on
- 29:14that? Wouldn't that be great if that
- 29:16kind of dialogue? Because then that way it's, you
- 29:20know, it kind of goes back to when Lena Sadler and Bill Sadler
- 29:24were first introduced to the, the sleeping subject.
- 29:28And it was the thing that Lena said which sort of got the whole
- 29:31thing going, which was why don't we ask it a question?
- 29:34You know, why don't we ask the sleeping subject a question
- 29:38about something we want to know? And it was, that's the, you
- 29:42know, the proverbial, you know, you can what?
- 29:46You know, what was the expression about the key?
- 29:48The door is open. All you have to do is walk in.
- 29:51So and. I think that's, well, yeah, I I
- 29:54agree with you on that. But I think a lot of times when
- 29:57people don't ask you the, the, you know, a question when you've
- 30:03been quite obvious. I mean, it's like a lot of
- 30:07people will, you know, is what's come up with me is when somebody
- 30:10says, but you're Christian and I go, no, I'm not, you know, and
- 30:17they go, well, well, yeah. And they go, well, what are you?
- 30:20And I said, I'm Jesus Sonian. And they say, well, can you
- 30:23explain the difference? Yeah, well, can you explain the
- 30:25difference in the 2. And so then we, we get into a
- 30:29conversation, you know, about, about that and why I have come
- 30:34to the, you know, to believe that.
- 30:36And, and a lot of times the conversation doesn't go any, you
- 30:40know, a whole lot further than that.
- 30:41But then there are times when it, you know, well, how did you,
- 30:45you get there? And I said, well, you know, and
- 30:46then I start talking about, you know, finding the Urantia book
- 30:50and how it had changed my life and things like that.
- 30:53Then a lot of times, you know, not a lot of times, sometimes
- 30:56you'll get, you know, further questions.
- 30:59If after that they don't ask you a question, I've kind of come to
- 31:04the, you know, opinion that they're just not ready.
- 31:08You know, they're, they're, they're, they're just not ready.
- 31:11Otherwise, I think they're they don't know.
- 31:14What's inside the box? That's the thing they do.
- 31:16They really no one can possibly know everything that it of.
- 31:21What makes it such a of revelatory profoundness?
- 31:25Really, when you get into the deepness and the nooks and
- 31:29crannies of the book, you start to realize how profound it is
- 31:32that we're being given this information.
- 31:34And I've had conversations with people about that.
- 31:37It's like there's two miracles going on #1 is the fact of what
- 31:41it's saying and then and then sort of getting this new
- 31:44conceptual understanding of the universe.
- 31:47And then two, the fact that they're saying it, that the
- 31:49information has been communicated to us in such a way
- 31:53where we now have the IT is this conversation I had whether you
- 31:57ranch book reader not long ago. And and we were talking about, I
- 32:01think it was Gabriel actual and you know, he he had made the the
- 32:04the point that this had to this message was approved.
- 32:09There it it. There was a lot of work that
- 32:11went into making this book possible and that in itself.
- 32:15Is well, they, they had to, yeah, they had to get, yeah,
- 32:17they had to get permission, You know, I mean, it was not like
- 32:20they just said, oh, let's do this, you know, that's not how
- 32:23it happened. And ultimately Michael had to
- 32:25sign off on it. So this in a way, is he and, and
- 32:28when that conversation is kind of interesting because, you
- 32:32know, they say, well, what are we telling them too much?
- 32:34Do we give too much of it away? I mean, this is kind of
- 32:37everything, isn't it? And and, and Jesus would have
- 32:40had to say, you know what? I think they're ready for it.
- 32:42I think that they might be ready for it.
- 32:44And we've got to trust these people.
- 32:46I mean, it's such a significant thing that Jesus created this
- 32:50Advisory Board after his resurrection of the four and 20
- 32:54elders. And the same Advisory Board also
- 32:57offers their expertise of the 36 other rebellion seared worlds.
- 33:03So he thought very highly of this race.
- 33:07I think in those travels through the Mediterranean and getting to
- 33:10know people, I think he looked at us and said, man, these
- 33:13people have so much potential. I see great things for these
- 33:17people. I'm so glad that I came here and
- 33:19I and I, you know, that that is such an exciting thing to think
- 33:24about. And that's why we're where we're
- 33:25at today. I think why we're going through
- 33:27so many challenges. I think he's got a lot of
- 33:31confidence that we're going to be just OK, we're going to be
- 33:34all right, right. That we'll, we'll find our way,
- 33:37you know, we'll find our way through and even, you know, in
- 33:39the when, when you get maybe really down on the, the current
- 33:44situation where wherever you are, whatever country you live
- 33:47in that and they're, they all seem to be facing some challenge
- 33:50this day. You know, ultimately I, I
- 33:55believe, you know, goodwill always went out, you know, in,
- 34:00in the end. Now it may be, it'll be 1000
- 34:03years, but it, it will, you know, we will move toward light
- 34:07and life. And I, and this is the thing
- 34:12where I where I think it's so important that you, that for me
- 34:16that it's, it's very personal because you know, in that part
- 34:20where it says that, that, you know, Jesus loved men, you know,
- 34:25I mean, and he loved them because he, he got to know them,
- 34:30you know, he got to experience them.
- 34:33He and, and it may have been just in passing by, but he, he,
- 34:38he was, you know, he didn't ignore what was going by him,
- 34:42you know, and, and so it's incumbent for us to, to do the
- 34:47same thing. And that's the reason these, you
- 34:50know, personal contacts, whether it is the, the person you know,
- 34:54that stops me at the in the Walmart parking lot and looks at
- 34:57my bumper sticker, which is about the discoverjesus.com app
- 35:03from the, the, the Center for Unity.
- 35:06I've got that on the back of my car.
- 35:08I can't tell you how many people have stopped me in the parking
- 35:10lot. This one guy, he goes, I'll
- 35:12follow him. And I said, so do I, you know,
- 35:15and, and, and I had said you ought to go look at the, at the
- 35:18website. And he said, OK, he took a
- 35:20picture of it with his phone and he said I'll do that.
- 35:23And I said good. I think it's got really pretty
- 35:25art and I think you'll find it really interesting, you know,
- 35:28and I mean that's, that's happened to me like 5 times in
- 35:31the Walmart parking lot. I mean it's.
- 35:33Just. But, you know, it was that
- 35:36that's what it takes. But it's just that personal, you
- 35:39know, contact with another, another one of our siblings.
- 35:43That is where for me, that's where it's, you know, where it's
- 35:47at, so. Well, Marjorie, I, I, I always
- 35:52enjoy talking with you about stuff.
- 35:53And the symposium, it's coming up in November and it's going to
- 35:58feature a bunch of guests. It's over a kind of a long
- 36:01period of time. So this is going to be one of
- 36:04the longer, I guess sign. How long is it?
- 36:07It's like 3 days or. Something well it no, it last
- 36:10it's on we had we compressed it to Thursday and Friday.
- 36:14They're they're five talks on Thursday and they're five talks
- 36:16on Friday. They'll they'll yeah, there will
- 36:20be Joanne will be sending out. If you're on the the mailing
- 36:25list for the foundation, you will get a notice.
- 36:29But if not, just go to foundation or you can go to, you
- 36:33know, and and ask to, to, to be in it.
- 36:36It's on the foundation website. Yeah, erasure dot.
- 36:39Org is the right, Yeah. And then just go to the events
- 36:42page and you'll find it pretty easily, yeah.
- 36:45Yeah, yeah. And you just say you want to be
- 36:49part of it and you'll get the invitation a day or so ahead of
- 36:53time so that you'll have the link and be able to come in and
- 36:58you can come in. I mean, it's a, it's, it's long.
- 37:01I we not understand that. And there but you, you will have
- 37:04the order and what it and some of them may be more interesting
- 37:08to you than others. Just come in and watch the ones
- 37:10that you want. Also, if you can't on those
- 37:13days, interact within about a week to 10 days after the
- 37:17symposium. They will all be put up under
- 37:21the events page on on the foundation and on their YouTube.
- 37:25So you will be able to access them and hear them too.
- 37:29And you can actually read the papers that each one of the
- 37:32presenters has written. A lot of times you want to look
- 37:36at their paper because you, you see all the references and
- 37:40things that they actually, you know, because they've, they've
- 37:43written a paper that gives you references where they pull
- 37:45things. That's great.
- 37:46And, and read things. And so you, you really should,
- 37:50you know, if, if you get real interested in the topic, look
- 37:53there, that may send you to some place that you find really,
- 37:56really, you know, interesting. So, and, and they usually have a
- 38:00lot of quotes and references to the, you know, areas in the book
- 38:03too. So that's that's real helpful at
- 38:06times. OK.
- 38:07And then again the date is November 6th and 7th. 7th,
- 38:10right? That's a Thursday and a Friday.
- 38:13OK, terrific. And thank you so much.
- 38:17You must be very busy and excited and all that.
- 38:20I really, I couldn't be in a better place and I'm glad you're
- 38:24there. And we didn't really talk much
- 38:26about your background, but I think in the previous podcast
- 38:29you and I talked about some of. The more scientific.
- 38:32Aspects So go back in time and look up some of the old
- 38:36interviews with Marjorie. She's crazy.
- 38:38So anyway, but thank you so much, Jim.
- 38:41And I do hope, you know, your listeners will consider spending
- 38:44at least a little time with the symposium.
- 38:47And we have amazing presenters. And then they spend a lot of
- 38:51time and energy, you know, making these presentations and
- 38:55talks. And, you know, they're very
- 38:58committed to what they're doing, and I'm very grateful to them
- 39:02for doing it. So just enjoy the fruits of
- 39:05their labor. And we sure appreciate being
- 39:12able to catch up with Marjorie. And again, I hope that you can
- 39:15participate. If you want to find out more,
- 39:18just go to the Urantia, yeah, the foundation and look for
- 39:21events, 2 day event, a lot of great speakers, many of whom
- 39:24George Parks, Gabriel Reinberg, others, Nigel Nunn, others,
- 39:30perhaps many of you've met or had an opportunity to speak with
- 39:33over these wonderful years. All right.
- 39:36And again, if you've got a question or comment about the
- 39:38Urantia Radio Podcast or about the Urantia book, best way to do
- 39:42so, go to yourrancherradio.org and you can reach me there
- 39:45through the contact page or you can simply e-mail and the e-mail
