- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:54Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's work with notes, quotes,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and story along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:02Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:05Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. Now, if
- 1:11Speaker 1: you miss a portion of today's broadcast or would like
- 1:13Speaker 1: to recommend it to a friend, you can hear this
- 1:16Speaker 1: program anytime online at Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now
- 1:21Speaker 1: here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Put on the full armor of God so that you
- 1:32Speaker 2: can stand against the tactics of the devil. For our
- 1:36Speaker 2: battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,
- 1:40Speaker 2: against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness,
- 1:45Speaker 2: against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. And
- 1:49Speaker 2: this is why you must take up the full armor
- 1:53Speaker 2: of God, so that you may be able to resist
- 1:56Speaker 2: in the evil day. And having prepared every thing to stand,
- 2:02Speaker 2: Take your stand Ephesians, chapter six and verses ten through thirteen.
- 2:11Speaker 2: We talked yesterday about disciplines, disciplines of a soldier. A
- 2:17Speaker 2: soldier actually trains so that he is ready for combat.
- 2:25Speaker 2: When we look at the disciplines, these are the preparations
- 2:29Speaker 2: for our readiness for combat. We talked about them. We
- 2:33Speaker 2: know that they are involved in all the areas of
- 2:38Speaker 2: our life, their physical and spiritual disciplines. We talked about
- 2:44Speaker 2: how many of these disciplines are given to us as
- 2:50Speaker 2: a privilege because we know that these things will help
- 2:54Speaker 2: us to become more like our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
- 3:01Speaker 2: We know too that since we have been purchased by
- 3:05Speaker 2: his sacrifice, we are now his and we are given
- 3:11Speaker 2: His purpose in this life. So reviewing the disciplines, we're
- 3:17Speaker 2: able to see that we have a process of developing
- 3:23Speaker 2: in the areas of our disciplines. There's diet, nutrition, both
- 3:28Speaker 2: physical and spiritual. We talked about how we must feed
- 3:32Speaker 2: our spirit so that we are able to continue to
- 3:37Speaker 2: grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus.
- 3:42Speaker 2: We talked about the exercise that we need to put
- 3:45Speaker 2: those things that we have learned and that he has
- 3:49Speaker 2: commanded into practice. We must do those things to be
- 3:54Speaker 2: prepared to take the good news that Satan has been defeated.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Jesus is victorious, and we can set the captives free.
- 4:06Speaker 2: The Bible states that if we ask anything of God
- 4:11Speaker 2: according to his will, he will hear us and do
- 4:15Speaker 2: what we ask, paraphrasing First John five, Verses fourteen and fifteen.
- 4:21Speaker 2: We know too that our prayer life is an exercise
- 4:25Speaker 2: that continues to develop more and more. As we feed
- 4:30Speaker 2: our spirit from the word of God, we will be
- 4:33Speaker 2: in agreement with the Word of God. Our prayer life
- 4:37Speaker 2: will not be self centered, but it will be the
- 4:40Speaker 2: type of prayer that will actually intercede for others. We're
- 4:46Speaker 2: going to intercede for lost souls, lost family members, friends,
- 4:52Speaker 2: co workers, colleagues, those perhaps that even look to be
- 4:57Speaker 2: our enemies. But yet we know they're not our real enemies.
- 5:04Speaker 2: They are victims, just as we were before Jesus saved us.
- 5:10Speaker 2: What we find is that now once we have developed
- 5:15Speaker 2: this pattern the disciplines that we practice in our diet,
- 5:22Speaker 2: in our exercise, and then in our rest, now our
- 5:26Speaker 2: rest is not quitting. We're not retiring all that we
- 5:31Speaker 2: are looking at is that we have confidence in God's
- 5:36Speaker 2: finished work, and so we can proclaim the victory that
- 5:41Speaker 2: Jesus has over death, over hell, and over the grave.
- 5:47Speaker 2: He is the victor and we can go forward in
- 5:52Speaker 2: his victory. So we want to be able to look
- 5:56Speaker 2: at some of the things that are going to provide
- 6:00Speaker 2: for our reward. And people would say, well, why would
- 6:04Speaker 2: you think about doing this for a reward? But yet
- 6:08Speaker 2: Jesus says that we are going to be rewarded for
- 6:13Speaker 2: the works done in the body. We want to hear
- 6:17Speaker 2: him say, well done, good and faithful servant, enter into
- 6:24Speaker 2: the joy of your reward. Now, when we recognize that
- 6:31Speaker 2: all of the preparation, disciplines, the practicing that we have
- 6:37Speaker 2: in exercise and prayer, in being able to rest confidently
- 6:42Speaker 2: in His word, we then know that we are prepared
- 6:47Speaker 2: to put on the whole armor of God. Why do
- 6:53Speaker 2: we say at that point we are prepared because without
- 6:59Speaker 2: the preparation, without the discipline, without the prayer, exercise, without
- 7:06Speaker 2: the nutrition of the daily feeding of our spirit by
- 7:10Speaker 2: the Word of God, we are not able to fight
- 7:15Speaker 2: this folk. But with all of these disciplines we are
- 7:20Speaker 2: more than conquerors. Through him that loved us. So let's
- 7:24Speaker 2: talk about our weapons. Let's look at them as a
- 7:29Speaker 2: means of being able to describe Jesus' use. We need
- 7:35Speaker 2: to talk about the weapons in the way they are applied.
- 7:39Speaker 2: There's never been a greater example of the use of
- 7:43Speaker 2: our mighty weapons than that of Jesus himself, facing and
- 7:48Speaker 2: overcoming every temptation Satan could employ. His weapon is our weapon,
- 7:56Speaker 2: the word of God. Every time he was tempted to
- 8:00Speaker 2: sin and break his father's will, Jesus proclaimed three precious words,
- 8:09Speaker 2: it is written from the word of God. The Son
- 8:13Speaker 2: of God stated his position clearly. Now do you think
- 8:19Speaker 2: that Jesus had the power to far exceed any demand
- 8:23Speaker 2: the devil had placed before him? He could have easily
- 8:27Speaker 2: made bread out of stones, but he never tried to
- 8:31Speaker 2: appease Satan or satisfy his demands. Why was he doing this.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Jesus was showing us that we too can live above
- 8:41Speaker 2: the temptations and snares of the devil if we know
- 8:45Speaker 2: the word and will of God. He said, continue in
- 8:49Speaker 2: my word, and indeed be my disciples, and you shall
- 8:54Speaker 2: know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
- 8:58Speaker 2: John eight thirty one one thirty two. Stop right here
- 9:03Speaker 2: and examine your own knowledge of God's work, his will
- 9:08Speaker 2: for your life. Can you stand up against the wiles
- 9:11Speaker 2: or the devices of the devil? Remember you are no
- 9:15Speaker 2: match for the enemy if you are not in shape
- 9:20Speaker 2: and don't know your weapons. But also remember that he
- 9:25Speaker 2: is no match for you when you know and employ
- 9:30Speaker 2: God's work. First John four four says, greater is he
- 9:36Speaker 2: that is in you than he that is in the world. Again,
- 9:41Speaker 2: the weapons of our warfare are not carnal or of
- 9:46Speaker 2: our manly, sinful nature, but mighty through God. To the
- 9:51Speaker 2: pulling down of strongholds. Again paraphrasing second currenth Ins ten
- 9:58Speaker 2: three to five, The strongholds of the world are the
- 10:02Speaker 2: armories of Satan. They are his strategic points and supply
- 10:07Speaker 2: for all of his forces. Without them, he's helpless and
- 10:12Speaker 2: he must flee. Remember we are the aggressors. We are
- 10:17Speaker 2: not retreating. Now, let us be better equipped to meet
- 10:21Speaker 2: the enemy and witness God's power to defeat him on
- 10:26Speaker 2: every stand as we look at the whole armor of God.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Do you remember we talked about David and his victory
- 10:34Speaker 2: over the Giant. Before we advance to the front lines,
- 10:38Speaker 2: let's just have an inspection. Spread the armor out to
- 10:41Speaker 2: be sure we have all we are supposed to have.
- 10:45Speaker 2: The Bible gives us our inspection list in Ephesians chapter
- 10:50Speaker 2: six and verses thirteen through eighteen. We should have the
- 10:55Speaker 2: helmet of salvation. We should have the girdle or the
- 10:59Speaker 2: belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, gospel shoes of peace,
- 11:05Speaker 2: the shield of faith, sort of the spirit, and prayer.
- 11:09Speaker 2: In the spirit, you will notice that these are seven
- 11:13Speaker 2: perfect parts of the armor and weaponry that God provides
- 11:19Speaker 2: for all of his followers. Are we familiar with these
- 11:24Speaker 2: seven perfect parts of God's holy armor?
- 11:28Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 11:31Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to
- 11:33Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word with Richard k. You can hear
- 11:36Speaker 1: this message in its entirety again online as well as
- 11:39Speaker 1: Richard's entire archive at Talknetwork Radio dot com. We would
- 11:44Speaker 1: like to acknowledge our theme song, how Great is Thy
- 11:47Speaker 1: Faithfulness from the America's twenty five Favorite Hymns album unless otherwise.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Express scriptures are read from the Holman Christian Standard Bible,
- 11:57Speaker 1: which is published by Homann Bible Publishers in Nashville, Tennessee.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Additional resources used for reflections on the Word with Richard
- 12:04Speaker 1: K include Great is Thy Faithfulness by Our Daily Bread
- 12:08Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again, here is Richard
- 12:12Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Let's look at the inspection for each one and learn
- 12:20Speaker 2: its use in our warfare. We want to be able
- 12:23Speaker 2: to see the reason for the armor. Remember we talked
- 12:28Speaker 2: about there's one thing to know about your armor. There's
- 12:32Speaker 2: another thing to use your armor. There's another thing to
- 12:37Speaker 2: know your weapons, and there is yet still another to
- 12:41Speaker 2: use your weapons. Helmet of salvation is a very important
- 12:48Speaker 2: part of our armor. Why. It's the assurance that Jesus
- 12:52Speaker 2: paid the price for our sins and restored us to
- 12:56Speaker 2: fellowship with God. You could find that in Saye and Corinthians,
- 13:01Speaker 2: chapter five and verses seventeen through twenty one. The helmet
- 13:05Speaker 2: protects the head, which contains our brain and controls all
- 13:10Speaker 2: the functions of the body. It's the one place that
- 13:14Speaker 2: Satan will try to gain entry or strike a blow
- 13:18Speaker 2: with his weapons such as fear and doubt. He will
- 13:21Speaker 2: also try to occupy the brain with unholy thoughts, which
- 13:26Speaker 2: lead to unholy deeds. There's a label inside this helmet
- 13:32Speaker 2: of salvation, and this is what it states. These things
- 13:36Speaker 2: have I written unto you that believe on the name
- 13:39Speaker 2: of the Son of God, that you may know have
- 13:43Speaker 2: assurance that you have eternal life, and that you may
- 13:48Speaker 2: believe on the name of the Son of God firs.
- 13:51Speaker 2: John five thirteen. The girdle or the belf of truth
- 13:57Speaker 2: surrounding ourselves with honesty toward God and man. Satan uses
- 14:04Speaker 2: lies and deception. God shows the truth in open view.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Knowing the truth sets us free to do God's will.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth, and the
- 14:17Speaker 2: Light John fourteen six. The sword that we carry, the
- 14:21Speaker 2: word of God, can rest securely on this belt of truth,
- 14:27Speaker 2: for it alone is there to support the word. And
- 14:32Speaker 2: there's the breastplate of righteousness covering the heart with the
- 14:36Speaker 2: right relationship with God. This is not our righteousness or
- 14:42Speaker 2: an effort to be like God. But Jesus Christ, whom
- 14:46Speaker 2: we put on, has made us to be the righteousness
- 14:51Speaker 2: of God in him. Second Current Ends five and twenty one.
- 14:57Speaker 2: We are constantly being transformed into His image in obedience
- 15:03Speaker 2: to his every command. Remember, because of the sacrifice Jesus
- 15:09Speaker 2: made for us we are righteous in God's sight. We
- 15:14Speaker 2: are justified by faith as if we had never been
- 15:19Speaker 2: out of fellowship with Him. Our sins are completely washed
- 15:24Speaker 2: away in His precious blood. We also know that as
- 15:28Speaker 2: we look at dis inspection, we have special shoes that
- 15:32Speaker 2: will cover our feet. These are the Gospel shoes of peace.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Our feet are prepared to advance that good news of
- 15:41Speaker 2: the victory of Jesus Christ over the devil. Shoes protect
- 15:45Speaker 2: our feet from the rocks of discouragement and failure. They
- 15:49Speaker 2: can enable us to move in any direction which our
- 15:53Speaker 2: Lord commands. Everywhere they take us is left with the
- 15:57Speaker 2: peace of God. They march us through the cities of
- 16:01Speaker 2: impoverished souls and into the gates of glory. They leave
- 16:07Speaker 2: permanent eternal prince, proving that God's army advanced on orders,
- 16:13Speaker 2: defeated the enemy, and reclaimed God's property. There are three
- 16:20Speaker 2: more parts of the armor and weaponry of God. We
- 16:24Speaker 2: will cover those parts intomorrow's segment. We know now that
- 16:30Speaker 2: we are to take up the whole armor of God.
- 16:35Speaker 2: We know that we need the whole armor to stand
- 16:40Speaker 2: against the devices of the devil. And that is today's
- 16:46Speaker 2: reflection on the word thank you.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Richard join us again tomorrow when we continue with the
- 16:52Speaker 1: next edition of Reflections on the Work with Richard King.
