- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Why did you come up with the concept of celebrating people who have achieved excellence?
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: If more people are alive, I think it's important and imperative for us to celebrate people.
- 0:09SPEAKER_01: People give you congratulations only when you make it.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: But they don't, you see, the thing is that they will not cheer you on.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, waiting to see.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: Would it fail here?
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: But in this country, you invite people, right?
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: They know the letters are working.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: They will mind you.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: On the day of the event, they call it cannot make it.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: What's the quota?
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: You can't respond.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: Whereas in UK or in another jurisdiction, you get a response of the letter by me and say, Unfortunately, we cannot make it.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: It's what if the five percent of Sarafrica was at my event in 2023.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: It was a shock to Sarah Africa.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: How do you need that?
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: I went to write exams, and I knew I didn't have the money.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: Then I I I did some 3D.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: And I told God that, you know what, find every teacher and that let them not see me.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: And even when they see me, they just say, Oh, Richard, I'm telling you, I'm telling Richie.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: That was one first time that I felt like God is closer than we think.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Before we go into the conversation, I wanted to take time to thank you.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Thank you for all the support up until now, and thank you for choosing to watch this video.

- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to the Masterminds Podcast.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: As usual, your charming and ever so cute guide on the journey to sharpen your most powerful tool is here.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: My name is Richie Menta, and here we help build your mind.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: So, one thing I've spoken about over and over and over again is excellence.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Well, today I decided to bring somebody who has not just shown that he can be excellent, but has dedicated his energy, his time, his resources into celebrating people who show excellence over and over again.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Thankfully, he has my name, so it means he has a few gems in his head.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: You know, help me welcome Richard Abbey Jr., the CEO for Exodus Communications Limited.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Exactly, yeah.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: But most people know you for what I would say is your biggest platform that's 40 under 40.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Oh, you're right, yes, exactly.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Welcome, welcome to Master.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Thank you very much.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Good to have you here.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I I you know I've known you from far, and then this is my first time actually meeting you physically, and I think it's nice to see you today.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Thank you, thank you so much.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, I mean I'm I'm 40 already, so I can't be 40 under 40.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: I'm sure you're grouping some people who are under 40 already, so the public can participate because I remember the last time I was trying to get an MC.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: I think that IMC is under your management and all that, so you could still let the other people maybe participate.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, thank you.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: And now it's international as well, it's not just in Ghana.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Yes, in fact, before we even go into anything, kudos on that because you're in Ghana, you're in UK, you're in SA.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like that's amazing.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: I'm on the continent, which is the Africa version, has 25 countries, and I am on the global as well, which it's like the world, and then now I'm in the United States in Chicago by next year 2027.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Then I think I've completed the journey of the 40 and the 40.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: Any other person can buy the franchise.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about that.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: How did that come about?
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Because um most people just look to do their thing excellently.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, where did you come up with the concepts of celebrating people who have achieved excellence?
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I think my my I think let me just say that uh my first award actually began with the four with the Ghana oil and gas awards.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: It was in 2014.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: That's when I brought the oil and gas industry together, the downstream, the upstream, and all that.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: And then in 2017, I think I was talking to one, I think I was talking to Kofu Amuaban or something, because then he had participated in one of the events, and then something came up like, why are young people not being celebrated here?
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: And I was like, okay, fine, let me look at it.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: You know, the other awards is like under 30, 35, and all that.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: But it's in Ghana in real terms.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, we stay in appearance home sometimes, even up to 40, like Abraham did in the Bible.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: I mean, people have said that Abraham is a guy because he had lived, he had lived, I mean, and been with his family till about so before he left.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: So I thought, okay, now 40 is also a mark of the president that you have to become a president in this country and all that.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: Again, why don't we then look at 40 under 40 instead of 35 and all that and 30?
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: And I knew that there was some other event that'd have been now for the African continent where they say 30 and 30, which sort of list.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: Now I'm looking at how to bring them together, how these people can now inter trade, how they interconnect right now.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: But for instance, there's a bigger platform now where there are about 600 of these people in the past that are there globally, about 40 different countries.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Where if I want to talk to somebody in Kenya, in Uganda, some somebody even in Brangah, how is that connection?
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: That's the platform I wanted to create.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: And so that's where the whole idea of the 40 under 40 started for me.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: At the time, I was also under 40 anyway.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, 2017 and it began from there.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: So that's the whole idea.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: Young people coming together and then celebrating each other.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: See, the thing is that uh, you know, it's only at the at the funeral that, of course, where they read our biographies and all that, where they say he lived long and we wish we'd have taken him to the US, he was not alive.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: You know, those are the things that we don't understand why people are celebrated when they are dead, and that's why we spend so much money on them.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: While people are alive, I think it's important and imperative for us to celebrate people.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: So young people would like to know whether what they are doing, if they are being patted at the back, then they will now move on to other heights and all.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: And I can tell you the number of people in this country that have been celebrated through 14 or 40.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: Every young person that you would know, I mean, except maybe those who probably do not want to be participating and all that, have been at least celebrated from that 2017 when it began.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: And at the time, that was when the banks had sprang up, if you remember very well.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: So there were a lot of strong nominees, 120 of them.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: Very, very difficult for us to choose, but at least we did it.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: The only thing I'm realizing is that it's like the entrepreneurship level, there's no plan on building entrepreneurs in Ghana.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: So you realize that every year it dwindles in terms of the kind of number of people that are coming through.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: Unlike in South Africa, where you have almost 287 skilled to 144, it seems even under 30, there are some facilities of BB, sponsorship, and things that are helping them.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: That's the challenge.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Because they are intentional about trying to do it.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Very intentional about that.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: Because you see, like I said, for instance, when I look at Horseman's shoes, for instance, which is a fan, and I said that this guy should be able to export the shoes.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: But how is he going to export it?
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: Because I mean, we will need to learn how to build the Dangutis.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: So we give him enough, not these 70,000, 100,000 cities that we give to them and say go and do expansion.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: Because the problem is that our appetite for rich in this country is very low.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: So you know that Richie, we like to stay here and do it here, comfort zone of Ghana.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: And that's what I didn't like.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: So if if we can expand people and then them to export things outside, and then we become global giants, we can claim our shoe.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: It's in the United Kingdom, it's on the shelf of somewhere.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: What is what is the deal about it?
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Meanwhile, opening a company in the UK is just in seven days or less than seven days, sometimes three days.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: And here it takes you all, you know what goes on and all.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Even though I need to know something.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: Somebody and all, and getting a trademark here took me seven years for 40 and a 40.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: It took me three months, it took me three months in the United Kingdom.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: What's the problem?
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: Seven years, why?
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: What are you looking at for?
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: So the problem here is that the systems, and apart from the fact that individuals said we have a child, but the systems is not trying to create a conditional environment for the person to be able to do that.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: Because we should be able to explore it that caveman is doing watches now, of course.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: I mean, and I'm sorry, I mean, this is your platform, maybe I shouldn't mention it, but these are entrepreneurs now.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: For he's the 40 and the 40.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: The question is that why should caveman alone be in Ghana?
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: Because you're producing virtually everything.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: Now there's a factory that he has.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: What who is supporting him?
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Banks are meant for savings alone in this country.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: They collect the money and they save it.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: They don't give it back.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: And then when they collect the money rich, they go and give it to the big guys.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: They say they build a big brand.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: All these big guys, don't they owe?
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: People are living in loans.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: You and I sometimes, even the little we have, we are okay in our rooms.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: But you collect this money from young entrepreneurs and you give it to the big guys and say they have credit, they are credit worthy.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: What is credit worthy?
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: Whereas elsewhere, you can owe government, you can owe your million tax, and you are giving some years.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: But here all they do, expose you and put it in the daily graphic.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: What are we building?
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: We are destroying entrepreneurship.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: In the case of Cheddar.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, who doesn't owe?
- 8:10unknown: Yeah.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: But then it becomes a public thing and all that because it was every big man is on some kind of law somewhere anyway.
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: So we need to be very intentional about building when we find somebody who is doing well.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: How do we channel, I mean, train him and nurture him to become a global giant?
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: And that's what I sought to do to make sure that I live in Ghana.
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: My name is Richard Abby, I'm a gambo coming from Abusuka.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: So it's purpose.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: Now, how do I change the narrative and tell people in this country that somebody in Ghana with a black skin can be able to do an event for an indigenous of the United Kingdom and still not be corrupt, but make it clear that you cannot buy the award.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: And that's what I achieved.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: So to the extent that I want to do an ISO certification for the award, because that's the first time.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: Nobody's doing that.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: So it's procedural because the intention is that award or the impression is sold and skiving and all that.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: Not 4004.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: So that's where the reach is the thing with the conversation should be looking out for like identify these guys and build.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: So just recently I even told them in 40 and a 40 dialogue.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Why don't you do invest at 4040?
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: Whether it's a member mobilization of funds.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: Which is if you have a disposable logo, let's do a thousand, two thousand, put together.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: So that we can help the members within it.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: Somebody may have an idea because the kind of ideas I read and the combined tandover of people I meet when I'm in UK people putting to 50 million pounds in that room.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: The question is, how intentional is Ghana?
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: How is he even following me and checking out which entrepreneurs are you bringing together?
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: How do I take advantage of them to come and invest?
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: In this country, you only need to get somebody to be.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: If a minister is not in the room, the event is not successful.
- 9:45unknown: What is this?
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: But in other countries, South Africa, people call and say, Can we be there?
- 9:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: I mean, this go back thing that we're talking about.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, I must be, I love the country, honestly.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: I mean, apart from everything, my company is there.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: Apart from whatever you do, which is maybe politically motivated, or some few other uh charlatans or who are just rising up and all that.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: I mean, the country is intentional about some entrepreneurship, have a youth council that supports these people.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: So, what do you what do you think is a missing that is preventing us?
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: Do you think it's a cultural thing, or do you think it's us not understanding that we need to put the systems in place?
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: There's a big problem in this country.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: Support systems are very bad.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: And then when you get to a certain point, your mates want to be competing with you.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: Now, when they give you a little chance, Richard, the way you're moving, they know you move too fast.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: So it gets to a point where you need somebody to make a call on your behalf, he doesn't want to do that because he thinks that when he does that, you're gonna go for it.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: Most of my mates are politicians now, obviously.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: I mean, uh, the deputy attorney general is admitted.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: I mean, the opportunity is a mate.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: I mean, quite a number of you see the judge and looks at the world mates and all that.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: I mean, you're politics, and I'm not mentioning that the other ones, but there are times that you probably you don't need money from them.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: Maybe they have to just make a single call, they will not do it.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: So it gets to a point mates become even competition to themselves, which is not right.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: So the system, the support system is not there.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: So we couldn't, I mean, when you move forward a bit and somebody wants to be like, what is the happiness of people?
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: People give you congratulations only when you make it, but they don't see the thing is that they don't cheer you on.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: They are waiting to see, will he fail?
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, or he will make it.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Lose one artist right now.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: Yes, we said it that he's not managing them very well, yeah, or probably is even sleeping now, unless unnecessary comments.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: The country's mentioned the chat thing.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: Yes, I didn't see people coming to praise channel every time you put up a new case.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: Critiquing me and all that because the guy has decided to have affluence or not.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: What is this?
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: This country can't even have affluence and show it.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: Most rich men are very quiet in this country.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: There were people who are under 40 that could have come before China for the why they didn't want to be exposed because in the meetings they sit on, they think they are 55.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: So immediately they get to know they're under 40.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: In this country, adulthood is like its senses from age, so it means that they cannot do it.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: So they couldn't compete for that.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: I've actually had that problem with masterminds.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: So there are people that I've tried to interview and they've told me that they would love to, but in Ghana, when you're doing well and you put your face out there, people start to hate you.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: So they'd rather stay in the back.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Ah, that's the problem in all that.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: And the thing is that look, for me, I have a storyline.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: It's me, and I always want to encourage the youth of this country until they can do it.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: So mine is not about, I mean, creating an ancient international presence, and I also believe that, of course, when you're working, I mean, there are two things.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: Either you take to the juju or you take to God.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's the thing.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: So I take to my father.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: So I believe in God and I believe in the principles of kingdom building and all that.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: So I believe I have my protection under my father.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: So I don't want to be afraid to say that.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: Uh it's clear, it's out there that even I'm here and I'm there and all that.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: So, but I get it, it's because the criticisms, you see, I posted this on channel and it's not a friend of mine.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: Of course, he had been to the fortune of what, but I just posted, I said, look, if we tell you to sell even right now or do a catfish right now, by the time we come, the one who's taking care of the catfish who says that the catfish 500 is dead.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: You manage even small catfish.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: And somebody managing this kind of conglomerates and things, it's not going to be easy for him.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: Entrepreneurship is not for the faint-hearted, it's not a joke.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: But why do we celebrate when people are going through even a small, difficult time?
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: It's like that's when you see everybody jumping in.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: When somebody posts their achievement, somebody posts how great a thing is you look, 10 comments, five comments.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's their uncle, and you know, but then the moment they post some bad news about somebody, a thousand comments, five thousand, everybody's reposting.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: I think you're thinking in, I think you're thinking in the same line with me.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: This commenting I said, let me post a wedding anniversary of 15 years, right?
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: I get like, oh, on Facebook.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: Let me come and talk 4004 in the United States.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: You're expecting that this is how I build myself in terms of I encourage myself.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: There's so much the strength I have is that I encourage myself.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't wait for you.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: I don't even wait for my staff because even my staff cannot encourage me.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: Because you know, you can bring a new good news and everybody will listen.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: Meanwhile, you know what it takes to probably go into the United States and put up a campaign or to go to the United Kingdom and have an butt.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Somebody, oh yeah, because they can't appreciate what you call progress.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: And that's where the thing is.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: So I build the thing, and I be, and for me, I'm not the kind of person that's a keep it, don't talk about it.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: So I'm the kind that will be posting it.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: So even before 40 and 40 would have been done as African continent.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: I had said it in Kempiski in 2021 that there will be an event in 2022, a trophy of this nature, there will be people coming from countries.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: I finished when I speak.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: Now, what helps me is that because you have heard, I have to make it happen.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: This is how I this how I move.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: Because yes, because all of you have heard about it.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: And I'm going to make sure by grace that the thing has to happen.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: So that's how I move.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: So some people talk about you know, you know, there are times where your wife will say, No, don't say it too much when they know they will spoil it.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: Me, spoil what?
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: No, no, you I don't know what you are going to spoil.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: The only thing you have is that the life is and death is not in your hand.
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: I mean, you probably will attempt that, but in terms of the ideas that are in my head, it must come to fluence.
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: So the problem is that people celebrate things, weddings, uh, other things, and they come and say, Congratulations, congratulations.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: But then when it comes to achievements where you needed more to realize whether you're good or not, they don't come on to do that.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: And I think it's a I think it's a it's a cultural thing in Ghana.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: You you find that when you go to UK and you're doing an event, a cocktail session, conversations conversations going on.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: The room is so busy you can't even hear anybody talking, talking.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: People are connecting.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know, here you can go to church, people sit at the back when they're close, it's gone and all that.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: There's that thing of men kun thing.
- 15:13SPEAKER_01: There is there's that thing.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: If we can change that culture from the beginning and learn, you know, when we're children, of course, you remember you can eat in your auntie's house, somebody's aunties.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: Now it's scared, it's a witchcraft, they can kill the child.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: You know, some superstitions and things have kept us away from becoming and of course the thing about also creating partnerships with businesses where you realize that then one party wants to take advantage and all that.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: So it's a it's there's a there's that there's a something we have to deal with.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: If we can learn to celebrate people, look at the case of Amabi.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: I mean, and and people were happy and and talking about it and all that.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: I mean, let's just even get one pastor in one field or whatever who is an entrepreneur and gets to do something right now, they would deal with things from the other angle.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: So it's it's about time we we look at we look at these things.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: And I think if government is pushing these entrepreneurs and finding how to build them as well, maybe because it's coming from another authority level, people become a little aware that, oh, let's appreciate our own.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: Because there are a lot of people doing a lot, a lot of stuff.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: So with these platforms that you have, like 40 under 40, oil and gas awards and everything, do you ever get government supports?
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: Like, do they ever look at the fact that you are doing what they should be doing, so at least they should they support you?
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: I don't even know whether it's called support or something.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: So let me put it this way maybe elsewhere, for I remember that when I started 4040, I remember the Ministry of Business Development then got engaged, so that's that they saw the need to be involved in it because they felt this was business that I was developing, you know.
- 16:39SPEAKER_01: That was yeah.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: Now there are times you face a challenge to where there will be more of pre-present physically, and then that's the end of it like not supported because I don't even necessarily looking for monetary things from someone.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: It's just because that sometimes you need these things to give you a credibility and alignment.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: You see, that's the thing perception we have in this country.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the brand is built already, it's now a global brand.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: But sometimes when you do an event, hey, now this one didn't come.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: Hey, this minister didn't come.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: And there are times that in this country you invite people, right?
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: They know the letters are with them, they remind you on the day of the event they call you, we cannot make it.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: What sort of culture is this?
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: What sort of culture is this?
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: You can't respond, whereas in UK or in other jurisdictions, you get a response of the letter by meal and say, Unfortunately, we cannot make it.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: Or we represent no representative, nothing.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: It's as if it doesn't matter to them.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: We did 40 and a 40 Africa in this country in February.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: 50 people traveled to this country from different, from almost 25 countries to discuss.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Who does that?
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: Young and now, when they came in from different countries, why did we take them to tourism?
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: Oh, we were selling Ghana.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: Now you get endorsements.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: KOD was very experimental and all that, you know, but you get endorsement, and on a day you don't find a minister coming there.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: The same minister who has endorsed you, didn't he appear there, didn't get the rep to come there.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: What's the meaning of this?
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: And then you you it turns up to look like, oh, then it means that you you you you you you lied to the people.
- 17:54SPEAKER_01: Here, people change one day to the event, sorry, we cannot make it, they prioritize another one, and then they leave you in order.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: There's no the dishonesty is too much.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: And that's where the things come.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: So you do get support from anywhere.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: You get it from in terms of maybe alignment, maybe maybe a letter to say okay, we are in, but that full involvement of okay, fine.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: Because when the people were coming here, I was using the bus.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: The the tourism bus, mango tell manko, and all that.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: I paid for it.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: What am I doing?
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: Yes, I paid, and I I didn't have a problem.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: But you see, all I needed from that, can the representatives just even be at the event?
- 18:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, there are some maybe ministers that wrote a letter and then they waited six, so like what?
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: Is it six months and came back and said that we're still reviewing the proposal?
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: And it's a shockest of all because the ministry is somebody I have even, I knew people from the Anger and I was like, what are you reviewing?
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: 40 and 40 Africa, bringing people to this country, they spend one week, they slept in some of them slept in different hotels.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: What are we doing?
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: Is there no money in the country?
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: So, what is it?
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: I mean, came to the front pages of papers and all that, and then now they're on the day of the event, you don't find the relevant people to come there.
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: They will choose, I'm sorry to say, they will choose pageantry, they will choose uh some other things, then what is grooming young entrepreneurs?
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: Where the fan is, and sometimes you look at some courtesy calls in the country, courtesy course paid by some people.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: Then when you reach, you are looking for a courtesy call, you don't get it.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: But some anarchists who do someone coming on, he's meeting people and then you cannot meet.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: It's so difficult.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: The vice president of South Africa was at my event in 2023.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: It was a shock to South Africa.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: Say, how do you do that?
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: The wife of Jacob Zuma, in Kozazana Delamini, who happens to be my patron.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: We believe so much in me that spent one million rand in the event.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: This is another country.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: What happens to Fojana Futi?
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: For those who know me out of masterminds, you know that I've spent two decades building an empire based on sound.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: And now I've taken what I've been able to achieve in music to creating a way for you to experience music and sound.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: We introduced the Lynx Reverb headphones, and now we've introduced the Lynx Octave Bluetooth portable speaker.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: So support the small businessman and patronize the quality goods that we have provided for you.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: You can either find us at Compu Ghana or on our website, Lynxelectronics.com.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: So it seems over here, maybe we like the shiny objects.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's it.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: We we don't understand.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: You know, it's like the job that we do.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: We have a lot of people who say, oh, they want to come and work here, they want to do set design and everything.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: Because they see the shiny part, yeah.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: They see the finished work.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: They don't see the dirty work that it takes to create the shiny objects.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: To be at the back, and that's the thing.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: So when we don't have our leaders recognizing that to get the shiny objects, we need to pay attention to the dirty work.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: Then how do we change the culture?
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so the thing is that you see the like you said, yeah, make it and then then we can now associate with you and all that.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: That's why you don't get sponsorship.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: You write a letter and then maybe it takes two years.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: Some people don't respond to you and all that.
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: No matter how brilliant the idea is, you don't have people coming on board and all that.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: It has to start from that's why I say a deliberate effort by grooming or kind of entrepreneurs that you find in a year.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: If even government would try to say that okay, let me look at for maybe some entrepreneurs that are really doing very well and they show scalability.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: Let's get a business analyst to actually analyze their business and all that and see how you are going to groom them.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: It's you will now get a national sense of appreciation to these people.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: When it's coming from that side, it becomes easy for Ghanaians to actually appreciate and go on and all that.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: And say, Oh, oh, yeah, no, you're bow about so they're giving you that kind of encouragement and all that.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: That's why.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: So because there are a lot of things you have to do before you get to where you are and all that.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: I don't know what I've not done done before.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: I don't know what I haven't done in terms of getting, I don't know what I what kind of thing I'm gonna have.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: Sold aluminium before aluminum, sold coliba, rubber bar.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: You sold that abuso kind.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: Yes, I abuso kind was where we started the.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: So I was in Abusokai when I was so my mom and my dad, I think that uh at the age of uh one and a half, they had divorced and all that.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: So it looks like they were separated.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: So I think I had to live in my uncle's house with my uncle in Abusokai.
- 21:59SPEAKER_01: And Abusokai.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: No, at the time we don't have uh flashy toilets and other things, you know.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: You know, the public one that's where we you know, and then when you go there to some people are also smoking to make sure to control, you know, and then sometimes people hitting once you hurry up and finish.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: Look, we we've experienced so what I tell people that if today I start to get money and anybody speaks nonsense in this country.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: You see, that's the thing because when you are suffering, nobody's actually seeing, but make money right now, and it's going to be a problem.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: Hey, but then those who know the story know the story.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: So from there, I mean, we we we began that we're selling so aluminum.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: You know, aluminum is a very popular thing that you sell.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: You bring some of the utensils at the time was aluminum, or it's not disease, it's silver.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: So it was money, yeah.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: You crash it, crash, crash, crash, put on the scale, and then you go and sell.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: And then we built most of the houses, some of the houses within that we were doing pong power.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: Is uh Richie, that means you see, I mean, I know pompous.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: No, no, this one is pong po is in Ghana.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: Uh Pongpo is the labor, the concrete job that you see where we carry headpants, and then we go and labor for people and all that.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: So you realize that those people who uh we are building the house, those who carry the the head pants and all that, those were the kind of jobs.
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: Pompo, pompo, yeah, yeah.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: I've learned something new.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: Those were the kind of jobs we were doing when we are finished those jobs.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was satisfying because we're making money at that younger age.
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, do you gun because the point is that you are still with your uncle who probably I mean doesn't really do a lot of the caring, who at that point didn't understand why people were requesting your schools, were requesting for T rolls and all that.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: If you know why it's T roll, what to the extent that you have to stay in this house for even a year and then go back to school and then be jumped to another year and all that.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: So these people didn't understand the dynamics of your education and all that, but you had to survive within.
- 23:36SPEAKER_01: So between here and then my auntie's house, I keep going to my auntie, I come to the uh Abusu Khan, and then there were times I even did carving, you know, carving.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: And then what carving, what is more stressful is here.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: You when you have some people, you know, you get to lose some of this flesh here, I don't know that.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I remember carving.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: I think that we took him, they took it to a temper and all they went to sleep a place.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: Mosquitoes really got us because we want to survive.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: The point is that your fees are your my father was not taking care of me in the very beginning, which he agrees.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: We are we are very nice now, of course, but he understands that at the time.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: So I needed to survive, and that's one thing that we need to create in people in this country.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: The dependency is too much.
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: When you are born, you think that your uncle must give it to you.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: And then my children, I may leave them a legacy, but they must build their legacies.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: That's the thing.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: I may probably leave them some few things.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: Maybe the business, they come and control it, but houses, they should build it.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: You see, you you must not let people come in the comfort zones of then they come and stay inside and say, ah, because they are not experiencing what we experience by selling kerisin.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: You know kerisine?
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: When you shout kerisine, we always in a certain white rubber.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: And those were the things we're selling.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: Takucha.
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: Do you know Takucha?
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: Takucha is uh sponge, you know, with you those times, of course, instead of the Pepsi.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: These are things that one woman in the house will carry.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: Yes, one woman will carry you and say, Go and sell it today in the house of Abu Zukai.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the house is still there.
- 24:49SPEAKER_01: I went there some years back and I saw I said, Because I slept on a veranda for for a very long time.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: I used to sleep on a veranda, and you have people walking on the veranda going to sleep in your various room because the point is that my uncle's room was with the wife and then the room was full.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: So the the small porch veranda is where I was sleeping.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: But what does this do to you?
- 25:11SPEAKER_01: It builds you out, it really makes you very careful.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: When you make money, you know how to spend that.
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: You get to understand the rudiments.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: You have seen poverty and before to poverty, you've seen the colour of poverty.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: So you know how to also have mercy on people who do not have it.
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: Because if you don't see these things, that's why it's very difficult for people to even have a given spirit, because they don't they've not gone through the mails and the troubles and all that.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: Because and you have to work from Absolve to St.
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: Anthony's.
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: Luckily, I was getting good schools as well.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: It means I was brilliant.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: And I think poverty made me learn.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: That's another thing people understand.
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: I know they're children today.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: But I have a question about that because you see, everybody's story, everybody who's made a story starts from the bottom, right?
- 25:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but what do you think is the difference?
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: Because there are people who are also going through it but are never able to cross over to the other side.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: So, what do you think that person is missing?
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: So a few things appetite for risk.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: You see, the level of appetite for risk.
- 26:06SPEAKER_01: I tell people that when you see KFC and know that you're there, they want to be determined with the same appetite, even channeled appetite and make it better.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: And I think that you need to learn that people don't have to learn how to challenge themselves like that.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: So be the be the core, don't look around to find out from yourself, understand that they say, Okay, no, I was like this in the past, I want to be like this in the future.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: So you might your past is becoming the contention now.
- 26:29SPEAKER_01: You understand what I'm saying?
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: So you're dealing with yourself because you see, one of the enemies to you as is your flesh, the basic and the closest enemy is your flesh.
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: If you don't control this flesh, you know really where it can land you and all that.
- 26:39SPEAKER_01: So, and then you have the second one being time because you might understand that you have you don't have time on this earth, and then the thing is that the time that you live on is borrowed, it's not yours again because when it passes at the end, yeah, I can call you anytime.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: Other people can call you too, so you don't know where you are going.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: So the point is that how do you achieve more within these circles?
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: So those things, and it's what we call self-wheel, the will of saying that I want to become, I want to do it.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: Everything of a man is in the mind of him and what he wants to become.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: He doesn't need anybody to tell you what you want to do.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: So you have to make a decision and say, that's why I believe in the principles of the 4D, is that you have to make a decision, you have to actually desire what you want to become.
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: So the question is that what do you see?
- 27:17SPEAKER_01: That's another thing.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: Because before I do an event, I have seen the room already, and I've seen the people sitting out, I've seen the people moving around.
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: I don't see it in the video, but I live by that principle of the master seed of faith, which is better than tears.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: So I want to now act as if it is real.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: So if people can learn to live by that principle, and faith is actually the most it's not a biblical matter.
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: The point is that Richie, the reason why you are wearing this dress and living this, but there's a particular fate you have in this dress.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: That's what you watch.
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: You didn't even think that it may be it could be solved by a red or palm oil.
- 27:45SPEAKER_01: You have not thought about it.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: You don't even know whether you can fall off that seat.
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: You have faith in that seat.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: So the faith thing is is basic of your life.
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: It's an everything.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: So understand it and say, I want to make it and I want to do it in order.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: So cross the path and stop becoming comfortable.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: The problem of comfort is another thing, convenience.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: The artisans of this country they eat small, amazing.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: You know, the only person who can challenge a rich man is an artisan.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: You can wait for him and wait for him.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: You have money.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: It's very interesting.
- 28:14SPEAKER_01: That's the problem here.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: So no professionalism, no structure.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: And then the point is that everybody is satisfied with some 200 cities.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: 500 is okay.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: And somebody's afraid also of the chase that they'll chase tax people will be chasing, even though taxes now become a little convenient because of the fact that it's portal and all that.
- 28:31SPEAKER_01: But the point is that they start grooming where all your account and all that instead of a comfort, like if for instance in UK, when I finish that they file my VAT, UK returns 5,000 pounds.
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: As much that I have paid to the people.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: Here.
- 28:44SPEAKER_01: If you overpay any money, then they will not give it back to you.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: So you see, we need to make the system a little favorable.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: But I used to that your achievement is not based on the environment, it is not literally based.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: Because if somebody's from what was from a manja and then becomes a Jesus, I don't think that your achievement is based on the environment.
- 29:02SPEAKER_01: So it's something that you must defy the odds, okay, and don't care about what they are doing within the environment and try to say, I want to say because I want to find somebody who called me in the car and say, Oh, oh, Abbey, he met me because he said to share my car, hey, hey, Abbey, because that I lived in that place, but I decided not to let the system influence me.
- 29:21SPEAKER_01: So they are not there, some of them are not doing well, no, no.
- 29:24SPEAKER_01: So it's a personal choice.
- 29:26SPEAKER_01: It's a personal choice, it's about your will, it's about the faith, it's about what you want to become, it's about you competing with your past and deciding that you have to be better off than the past.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: Because I can tell you I'm better off than in 2010, 2027.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: And it's like every year I say I won't move again, but it's okay by the time I realize I'm moving on.
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: Because I I feel the the world is for our inheritance.
- 29:44SPEAKER_01: We should be able to, we should not limit ourselves here.
- 29:47SPEAKER_01: You know, when we're looking for companies when the issue happened in South Africa.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: Now, I was trying to find out whether there will be companies that will be mentioned that like some Ghanaians who own companies, they were owning only the small, small shops and all that.
- 29:59SPEAKER_01: So the question is why are we not owning something?
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: Which, if I tell you to do a count of Ghanaians who own companies outside, you can do it right now.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: Outside of Ghana, you can just do it right now.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, I'm sorry.
- 30:11SPEAKER_01: I can give you Indom did it, and then the the collapse affected them.
- 30:15SPEAKER_01: I can give you maybe no, you try, you can't even get the numbers.
- 30:18SPEAKER_01: So the thing is that okay, let's do it and go in and go.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: Why are you not owning your business there?
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: And the structures are very simple.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: Find somebody who probably is there and on his own.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: Okay, this is what I sell.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: Can I sell the same thing on London?
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: And then you meet the standardization and you go.
- 30:33SPEAKER_00: But those who know me out of masterminds, you know that I've spent two decades building an empire based on sound.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: And now I've taken what I've been able to achieve in music to creating a way for you to experience music and sound.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: We introduced the Lynx Reverb headphones, and now we've introduced the Lynx Octave Bluetooth portable speaker.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: So support a small businessman and patronize the quality goods that we have provided for you.
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: You can either find us at CompuGamana or on our website, Lynxelectronics.com.
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: You know, I read a story about you, and as I'm talking to you, I'm starting to see the tenacity and understand it more.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: Because I read a story how you know someone will see you, he speaks so well, you've achieved so much, and they'll know this man is so well educated and just had everything go smooth.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: And I hear that for like a whole two years, you had to skip school and figure out your way.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: Please explain, explain what happened and how it shaped your life.
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: So, you see, because the the two the parents, I mean, parents had divorced and all that.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: And that's another thing we have to talk about when it comes to divorce.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: I mean, we have to be conscious that even if you are divorced, let's think of the children, yeah, and then take care of that.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: The problem is that men, you know, we will divorce at later and think that the women are responsible to that.
- 31:49SPEAKER_01: We see that as a punishment.
- 31:50SPEAKER_01: But you're you have to be responsible for what you bring onto the earth.
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: Of course, I think that people should be a little responsible.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: So you have an issue where my mom was in Nigeria and then I was looking for myself.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: So I saw my mom at the age of 18.
- 32:01SPEAKER_01: Because I, yeah, because one day I didn't know one day I left me.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: So I saw it like this is my money in the age of 18.
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: And that was when I had finished.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: So it means I finished uh at 18 in GSS.
- 32:11SPEAKER_01: You know, the usual time would have been 15.
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because of the delay in the school and all that.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: But you see, the question is that if you were not delayed, would I have become a school previous in a crack academy?
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: So sometimes you see, some of the things are set for your own setup and maybe to come to a certain level.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: So in in in in in in in in the primary and all that, I think that when at a point they could not pay the school fees.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: My uncle could not pay the school fees, so I had to sit at home and then wait.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: So that got the delay.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: Because it was the only David guy who was going first.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: If I known number two, that's one of the guys now.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: So but still I had to sit in the house, but then I go back and then uh uh go to school to go and continue from there and all that.
- 32:52SPEAKER_01: The main thing of I think is that childhood is where the struggles were.
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: Because selling rubber bag in Kansashi, for instance, you know, and uh you know the rubber bag, you hold it this way.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: There's a style, there's a tall guy who actually uh bullies and intimidates everybody because there's a sound that you hear when you are selling rubber bag.
- 33:10SPEAKER_01: If you have gone to Kadesh, you hear them say rubber bag.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: That means they are calling the people.
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: Now, people rush your strength, your ability, your speed, agility.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: This is all these things that is something I'm building you, but you don't know.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: To get there first and be able to sell it and all that.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: And then we used to now get small money, go and stick some small little because the money was not enough.
- 33:28SPEAKER_01: We want to make more.
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: Then I remember the day I still had to do the little, but the time was coming, the money got lost in throttle.
- 33:34SPEAKER_01: No, that was when people that was when people can steal your money in throttle, and then you know because it's the long one that we are all sitting together.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: Then it's a mistake, no, your money is gone down.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: So I sold rubber bag, I did this the the the the the coliber thing, I I I did shoemaking at a point.
- 33:50SPEAKER_01: So today, if you give me that sort of thing that they have the pin, I know how to go around it.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: I did shoemaking for some time, which was around the same house that the guy does it on Saturday, so I go to help him and I learn how to do it and all that in order to be able to get some funding.
- 34:01SPEAKER_01: Because you see, your point is that and I had to owe school fees at every point.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: So I'm one of the students who had owed even as an I'm sure when they go to St.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: Anthony's, I maybe they can call me, I can pay them, but I don't know.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: But I know I was owing before I left.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: I mean, to the point I couldn't pay fees, and then in St.
- 34:14SPEAKER_01: Antonio's.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: I still owe in them.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: I don't know, they can tell me because they can't call it.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: Come and catch them.
- 34:21SPEAKER_01: I need to be very to pay the school fees and all that.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: And at the point where you don't you don't pay school fees in St.
- 34:29SPEAKER_01: Antonio's, there is A to I, A, B, C, D to I.
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so A B C D E F G H is on the building block, and I is separated.
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: So they put you in I because you didn't pay school, and then I is supposed to be literally what they call maybe C for toy or something in terms of those that when they have the C and all that.
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: So you join them, and you know the the painful thing is that when they are matching, they'll tell the I people to match first and get another.
- 34:51SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 34:51SPEAKER_01: Because you have not paid your school fees.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'm going to start looking for my Saint Anthony's friends and ask them were you in I know what it means.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: Because then we had to do, but we took we took God seriously at the time.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: I was in deeper life as well.
- 35:05SPEAKER_01: At the age of 10, I knew God so well.
- 35:07SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 35:07SPEAKER_01: And so I see I think the the the the fundamentals is that because I I I knew God at the at that time, it also helped me as well.
- 35:15SPEAKER_01: Because deeper life gives you a lot of training where you cannot even greet a woman, and you know, it's a very principled sort of training that we had.
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: So whilst I was doing the schooling and all, I was in the prayer area, I was going to park to pray up to the beginning of 40.
- 35:29SPEAKER_01: And then the house I stayed in had got lighted for like three years.
- 35:33SPEAKER_01: So in the studies, I use what we call bobo and then candle to study.
- 35:38SPEAKER_01: Now, in the night, you know that to be able to, and then I always used to teach my mates, even at the very younger age, I can tell, as far as I'm concerned, was around maybe form one or something, or around maybe, and then I collect money.
- 35:50SPEAKER_01: You know, because so I saw that entrepreneurship thing or leadership thing maybe started from the very onset.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you understand?
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: So, and not giving up things was there and stuff like that.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: So I needed to, so those were those were like childhood stories throughout to, and when you are going to school to St.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: Antony's, I walk, we walk through Grammar.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: There's a school called something grammar.
- 36:10SPEAKER_01: Uh, what's the grammar or something?
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: You have to go through uh you so you go through Matahiku and then connect through to the place and moving from house to house, also get some food because my aunties used to live in uh Matahiku.
- 36:21SPEAKER_01: Because all these times I was writing letters to my mom.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: And you know, the letters, I don't know whether I got to her, some of them were not getting to her.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: So it was when I I did a three day, so there are three times.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: I think I did, I I I've done three days fasting dry only three times in life.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: Now the reason is that I know people fast a lot of times.
- 36:39SPEAKER_01: I have my own thing.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: When I'm when I'm coming to my father and I have to speak to him about something, I need to engage him on a certain level.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: If he thinks he's not, he's not for me.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: So my faith in one is such that even if today he takes everything off me right now, I feel it's it's okay.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: That's what he wants to do.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: But you see, people don't believe that thing that, oh no, because of that, they have to accuse me and all that.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: I remember when I had to see my mom, so I prayed for three days, and that's when it came out that I have to meet him.
- 37:05SPEAKER_01: But even before that three days, because I was owing school fees in St.
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: Anthony's, and I am A B B E Y, so I sit in the front.
- 37:14SPEAKER_01: So they will know.
- 37:15SPEAKER_01: They'll mention your name very wow.
- 37:18SPEAKER_01: So when it was getting close, and I realized that at the point they were writing exams, and I knew I didn't have the money, then I I I did some three days, and I told God that you know what, blind every teacher in that school and let them not see me.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: That even when they see me, they should say, Oh, Richard, I'm telling you, I'm telling you, Richie.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: That was one first time that I felt like God is closer than we think.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: Okay, you would say that it's nothing, it doesn't matter.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: This is what you asked for.
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: Do you know that they bypass me and then when the woman will come and say, Oh, my son, my son, my son, and I wrote the exams.
- 37:48SPEAKER_01: And that was when we're doing 10 ones and all that and whatever finished because I didn't have the money to pay.
- 37:53SPEAKER_00: Because I was going to ask you that if you are owing them, how did you write the exams?
- 37:56SPEAKER_01: Yes, I paid, but I I I I this is where it came from.
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: The prayers were that father, I cannot do this, and remember that I'm I'm now going to be like 16 to 17.
- 38:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I've known because I was in SU from form one.
- 38:09SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: And I I was preaching in buses.
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: So, you know, those buses that are big ones from Kaneshi to uh Odoko, the big ones.
- 38:16SPEAKER_01: It sounds, I don't know the name called the call it.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: So sometimes you see people standing in like this.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: Those buses, I used to preach in the buses as well.
- 38:23SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 38:24SPEAKER_01: So me, so me, I have areas that is carrying through.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: So today if I can't do ministry craft, that is the my areas needed.
- 38:31SPEAKER_01: So those those those, and then I used to when I go to school, and I don't have food.
- 38:34SPEAKER_01: There was one, some few guys who come, maybe they have some uh food and then they probably not eat it at a point.
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: I mean, I remember one guy when I was telling today, he's he's in forgotten.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: I said they were very helpful to me.
- 38:44SPEAKER_01: There were friends that that had them, three of them or so, that together they were always together.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: So now if you have difficulties, you can also depend on them and all that.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that that has been the life.
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: But we we we in all these things, you you you you get to learn a lot from there.
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: Okay, you know, you know, and you get to learn a lot from the from your childhood stages, from going through these things, from becoming even at a point, even something you know you can sit in a car and then there's no meat in the car, and then you have to function quickly because you want to survive, so you have to function quickly for the driver.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: And I remember that someone to like the Odoko origin, sometimes you sit in and there's none, and then it's oh, we need meat because he has to get and come and open the gate.
- 39:21SPEAKER_01: So you can I can function it and fit in quick versatility, your ability to live.
- 39:26SPEAKER_01: And when COVID came, you remember that we were not able to do events, yeah.
- 39:31SPEAKER_00: Yes, that must have been a crazy time for someone who's your entire industry is about events.
- 39:35SPEAKER_01: Yes, this is event.
- 39:36SPEAKER_01: I mean, so then my wife is my wife is Sarah, the dressmaker, so she shows.
- 39:41SPEAKER_01: So we had to take to uh mask okay for doing max.
- 39:45SPEAKER_01: That's when we got max from so now you have to use a network to be able to get jobs for the max and do max in excess of two thousand and forty thousand pieces and all that.
- 39:52SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 39:53SPEAKER_01: So you must learn too.
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: The question is that if everything is taken off from you now, what what what will you survive?
- 40:00SPEAKER_01: That's the thing, because you can come to points like that.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: So you have to learn how to survive.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: And then the principle of the saying that don't give up.
- 40:09SPEAKER_01: No matter what it is, anytime I want to move to another country, the first time I registered a company in the United Kingdom, somebody came to write on the Facebook your tax begins now.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: You see, discouragement.
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: Because there's an impression tax, tax, tax, tax, but I'm not.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: But the point is, I mean, I I they file it there, they they they they do what they have to do.
- 40:29SPEAKER_01: But if I have to look at this guy, I will not probably want to move that.
- 40:32SPEAKER_01: When I was going to the US now, I want to do 1440, United States.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: Now, the United States is big, it's 50 kinds.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: I did for I did recently, I was there for six weeks, and I did about 12 states.
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: I was just examining some few things, and then one the one of the some of them thought that no.
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: US is too big.
- 40:50SPEAKER_01: Start from state to state.
- 40:51SPEAKER_01: But you see, I checked the bag and I realized that even Forbes who does 40 and who does 30s and does 50 under 40, whatever he does, yeah, he's doing state and coast and coast and all.
- 41:00SPEAKER_01: I said, no, I said I want to do the entire United States.
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: You're ballsy, yes.
- 41:04SPEAKER_01: So you don't intimidate me with things and say you can what I don't like is when you say you cannot do it.
- 41:11SPEAKER_01: You you now start bringing the beast in me to say, Oh, then you cannot give me one million dollars.
- 41:17SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 41:17SPEAKER_01: Yes, no, that that part you you have to look for the money yourself.
- 41:24SPEAKER_00: I was hoping when I said that they proved me wrong.
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: So that's that's the thing, just no moving on and on and on and saying, No, let's go and let's we can do it.
- 41:38SPEAKER_01: When I went to UK, the first time I opened nominations, the date was over, and then it was entries were like just a few of them.
- 41:44SPEAKER_01: And I didn't go for the diaspora, so don't know.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: I went for the indigenous of the land.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so they go then.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: I resent, I I have to look for means now, find companies to have database, let me reach them and all that.
- 41:54SPEAKER_01: When they came the first time, they were all happy.
- 41:56SPEAKER_01: And you see, the whole scenario is that when you get there, the unfortunate thing about people is that people start telling you, you are spending pounds here, you are bringing cities and you are coming to do an event here.
- 42:08SPEAKER_01: How how will you survive?
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: And then you were doing it in Mayfair, which is the very place where the arrows play.
- 42:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I chose a venue that if I I do look at my I didn't look at my capacity, but I chose a venue, and I can tell you that at the time when you have to do the event, it was 18,000 pounds.
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: And remember that that was when the pound was going to almost 20.
- 42:27SPEAKER_01: And then close to the event, you know, when you get there, UK, they tell you that when you sign, you can't change it.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: You know, one of the things that as an entrepreneur you have to start learning is don't follow the status quo.
- 42:40SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 42:41SPEAKER_01: When they tell you this is it, no, I don't, I don't, that's what you should follow it.
- 42:46SPEAKER_01: So you will not be able to move forward.
- 42:48SPEAKER_01: But I remember that when we went there and they said, okay, this is the start of that.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: Once you sign a contract, that you are bringing 150 people in the room, you must bring them.
- 42:53SPEAKER_01: So you can't change it.
- 42:55SPEAKER_01: I went every round.
- 42:56SPEAKER_01: I want to meet the manager, the same manager will not meet me.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: I want to meet the manager at the same time, I say, I want to change the numbers.
- 43:01SPEAKER_01: I can't bring 150 people, I need 120 people in the room.
- 43:05SPEAKER_01: I I pushed, I pushed, pushed, pushed, pushed, got to the woman and all that.
- 43:09SPEAKER_01: They say, okay, they can revise it and all that.
- 43:10SPEAKER_01: But by this and by don't by by according to the thing, once you sign with the hotel, that's the thing.
- 43:16SPEAKER_01: You know, the hotel rules is that sometimes you have to pay 50% when you're doing an event outside.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: That's when somebody was telling me, doesn't know where how you're doing it.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: But I say I will give you a deposit of 10% to lock it down because I can't carry all my money for you to keep.
- 43:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you understand?
- 43:27SPEAKER_01: So I have a and you must learn negotiations as well as an entrepreneur.
- 43:31SPEAKER_01: So then we agree.
- 43:32SPEAKER_01: Now you go to the event, the the the the the I was owing them some thousand something pounds, and then they collected all the drinks on the day, the 30 minutes to the event, or they collected all the drinks.
- 43:44SPEAKER_01: They said they will not put the drinks, they are waiting.
- 43:47SPEAKER_01: And that's when you know, sometimes you you want to break down.
- 43:51SPEAKER_01: But that's when I stood, and then I called the woman on the phone.
- 43:53SPEAKER_01: It was a Nigerian woman who was the manager at the tone.
- 43:55SPEAKER_01: Do you want to see me?
- 43:56SPEAKER_01: And all the time they'll send, you know, the performance coming and meet you and all that.
- 43:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:59SPEAKER_01: So And then one thing is that look, I've also learned that the West has a way of smart.
- 44:03SPEAKER_01: Like the West is one of the most smart people that we have not seen.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: And I don't want to put it so it looks some way, but they make things to become concrete, and that's it.
- 44:11SPEAKER_01: As if you cannot change it.
- 44:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:13SPEAKER_01: But I meanwhile, you can, but that's how it has been made.
- 44:17SPEAKER_01: So you think that you cannot?
- 44:18SPEAKER_01: Called him and said, okay, fine.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: Say for the first time I was the one who actually had to owe the event happened.
- 44:22SPEAKER_01: I came to Ghana and I sent the money to UK.
- 44:24SPEAKER_01: So it's never happened before.
- 44:26SPEAKER_01: And this is Hilton Park Lane, Mayfair.
- 44:29SPEAKER_01: That's where I think uh uh one of our going to do an event there.
- 44:34SPEAKER_01: He said, No, it's never happened before.
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: What did you say to convince them?
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: So the thing is, I went to Nazareth, I've paid you a majority of the money, of course.
- 44:40SPEAKER_01: And then the event is in 30 minutes.
- 44:42SPEAKER_01: Whichever way, this money will have to be paid.
- 44:44SPEAKER_01: Do you understand?
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: So I'm telling you that please check my profile on the internet and see who I am.
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: I'm not a loss.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: When you write Richard Abbey, you know, it will pull out that I am an entrepreneur, I've done this, I've done a couple of things.
- 44:55SPEAKER_01: So I'm doing events in Ghana, I have South Africa.
- 44:58SPEAKER_01: And you know, the same year 2023 is when I did first time in South Africa.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: First time in UK.
- 45:04SPEAKER_01: So you can imagine the pressure on me.
- 45:07SPEAKER_01: And one year I was doing events in two countries that have never been there before.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: And I'll tell you the story of South Africa.
- 45:13SPEAKER_01: You'll be surprised in terms of how we even survive in South Africa.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: So when I spoke to you, I said, okay, fine.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: We are going to look for, I think it was thousand six, look for a thousand.
- 45:22SPEAKER_01: So I called some of the mates, Antony.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: I talked to him.
- 45:25SPEAKER_01: So we could pay a thousand.
- 45:26SPEAKER_01: Whatever it's 600.
- 45:27SPEAKER_01: I said, this one we cannot give it.
- 45:29SPEAKER_01: Let's allow it to go and come back.
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: And that's how I left and I paid it.
- 45:32SPEAKER_01: Once the event was done the first time, the second time, now you have people who win award and they were asking, can they can they come and participate again?
- 45:38SPEAKER_01: Meanwhile, I would have thought that in other jurisdictions, they don't want to know.
- 45:41SPEAKER_01: They saw the beauty of it.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: And then when you go there, you you are forced to use the hotel chairs and all that.
- 45:46SPEAKER_01: I want to change the room.
- 45:47SPEAKER_01: I don't want to go.
- 45:48SPEAKER_01: You see, they are very uh this oh no, this is okay, but I I brought a certain standard and brand into it.
- 45:55SPEAKER_01: And that's one thing I tell people all the time.
- 45:57SPEAKER_01: Because how you execute things as an entrepreneur also gives you that mileage and all that.
- 46:02SPEAKER_01: True, yeah.
- 46:02SPEAKER_00: So it determines if people want to continue working on it.
- 46:05SPEAKER_00: And brand is everything.
- 46:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, which a brand I I I we we sacrifice for this 1440 brand.
- 46:11SPEAKER_01: And when I say sacrifice, to the extent to when people even want to.
- 46:15SPEAKER_01: Like I remember in 2022 when I did uh 1440 at Africa in Ghana.
- 46:21SPEAKER_01: When I finished, and I was going to do 2023 in South Africa.
- 46:23SPEAKER_01: So I was going to do 1440 Africa in South Africa.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: So somebody offered to pay for all the staff to carry them out.
- 46:30SPEAKER_01: This is a nominee.
- 46:31SPEAKER_01: Somebody said I'll pay the venue.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: This is a nominee.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: I said I was in Kenya and I had to meet the person.
- 46:36SPEAKER_01: I said, I cannot take tea with you.
- 46:38SPEAKER_01: Because when I do that, I feel I'm compromised.
- 46:40SPEAKER_01: Especially when this man is always around doing investigations and all that.
- 46:44SPEAKER_01: One day somebody comes and tell me, You are done.
- 46:46SPEAKER_01: So all these offers I sacrifice.
- 46:48SPEAKER_01: So anything that has made 1440 now is based on some sacrifices.
- 46:51SPEAKER_01: The sacrifices that you down there that money started come to you.
- 46:54SPEAKER_01: I was going to do an event.
- 46:55SPEAKER_01: Somebody said, Oh,$50,000.
- 46:56SPEAKER_01: I mean, to pay anything I said, no, I won't take it.
- 46:59SPEAKER_01: Now I'm still asking my father, I don't know what can break me on the awards.
- 47:02SPEAKER_01: Everybody may have advice, but on this award, as far as I want to take international, I've said that you cannot buy.
- 47:09SPEAKER_01: You cannot buy.
- 47:10SPEAKER_01: You see, then I went to Tony, I went to South Africa.
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: But then later the person sends a message and says, You're a principal.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: You decided not to take this membership.
- 47:20SPEAKER_01: South Africa was very bad.
- 47:21SPEAKER_01: The first time when I was in for teleport is South Africa.
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: There was a relationship I had with somebody who was here who has taken a franchise and says that he's going to be the one to do the event.
- 47:30SPEAKER_01: So let's have a so I saw the franchise at 22,000.
- 47:33SPEAKER_01: I think USD at the time.
- 47:35SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 47:35SPEAKER_01: And then he had paid 15 or something, so he said he was going to do it.
- 47:38SPEAKER_01: And that they were going to raise Riji, four million dollars.
- 47:41SPEAKER_01: The guy said four million dollars.
- 47:43SPEAKER_01: This matter I was talking about.
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: I didn't enjoy the last time.
- 47:45SPEAKER_01: When he said four million dollars, I started thinking about how long I will open a shop for my wife.
- 47:50SPEAKER_01: Because you see, I started doing promises and in this oh no because for me, I said, is it 400,000 or 4 million?
- 47:59SPEAKER_01: I went to South Africa.
- 48:00SPEAKER_01: The guy goes studied me 27 days.
- 48:02SPEAKER_01: I didn't see the guy entirely.
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: The event was happening.
- 48:05SPEAKER_01: There are 40 people traveling from different countries.
- 48:07SPEAKER_00: 27 days.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: I didn't see the guy was not available, he was no resident.
- 48:11SPEAKER_00: And did you see the 4 million dollars?
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: 4 million.
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: I didn't see anything.
- 48:16SPEAKER_01: 4 million.
- 48:16SPEAKER_01: The guy is ghost studying me.
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: I can't even see him.
- 48:18SPEAKER_01: He's not paid the difference of the franchise already.
- 48:20SPEAKER_01: And I said, no, it will happen.
- 48:22SPEAKER_01: And this is a country you don't have an account.
- 48:23SPEAKER_01: You have not opened the company yet.
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: So it's like 440 is Africa was done first in Ghana, where it had 16 countries.
- 48:30SPEAKER_01: Now 23 or something in the next one.
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: And then I wanted to move it to finish, like you know, easting, westing, south.
- 48:36SPEAKER_01: So I finished westing.
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: So I'm now going southing.
- 48:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 48:39SPEAKER_01: So I brought the thing there.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: Then there was no money to have to run the event.
- 48:45SPEAKER_01: There was no and so I have cards.
- 48:47SPEAKER_01: So my cards were with me.
- 48:48SPEAKER_01: So when you pay a ticket or something for the event in Ghana, or then I immediately I'll go and remove it.
- 48:53SPEAKER_01: You know, you show two different cats.
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: So I I go there, I'll take this one from me, take this one from me, and then go and pay them.
- 48:58SPEAKER_01: Because in South Africa, if you have not paid, nobody's moving.
- 49:04SPEAKER_01: Oh, Minia, bring it and then no.
- 49:05SPEAKER_01: If you have not paid, nobody's moving.
- 49:07SPEAKER_01: So everything must be paid.
- 49:08SPEAKER_01: In South Africa, there's very strictly everybody, look, you have to pay.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: It's very simple that I mean, I started changing negotiations.
- 49:14SPEAKER_01: I tell them, look, you collect 70.
- 49:16SPEAKER_01: Even hotels were surprised that they were paid them up to today.
- 49:18SPEAKER_01: Hotels are surprised.
- 49:19SPEAKER_01: They don't get they get their money, even some ideas to the event or two days when I finish it.
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: Because you see, you are stretching the finances.
- 49:23SPEAKER_01: You want to collect the money and keep it.
- 49:25SPEAKER_01: And I'm I'm I'm I'm stranded.
- 49:27SPEAKER_01: We did the event, the whole event.
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: When we had to do the event, the guy appeared on the day of the event.
- 49:32SPEAKER_01: That's how he just appeared on the day.
- 49:33SPEAKER_00: So he appeared as an he came with the money.
- 49:36SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 49:37SPEAKER_01: He appeared himself as a person and he came to speak because all the days when we're calling when I came to the police, apparently they were not they're not raised any sponsorship and they are not done.
- 49:45SPEAKER_01: That's why I wrote the book I Can Never Be Mad Again.
- 49:47SPEAKER_01: Please, I want yes, I want to go into that book.
- 49:50SPEAKER_00: Explain first of all, what do you mean by you can never be mad again?
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: So a lot of people think that maybe when I say I can never be mad again means I won't be angry or something.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: No.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: You see, if I wasn't mad in South Africa, you see, because the situation indicated I should have been mad.
- 50:04SPEAKER_01: Where mad means I should have gone crazy on because I was on the streets.
- 50:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: And I keep walking to um the big one, the mall.
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: I mean, my something.
- 50:13SPEAKER_01: So I keep walking to the mall now and I do accommodation one, three days.
- 50:16SPEAKER_01: Then when I get some money, then I change the accommodation again and do two days.
- 50:19SPEAKER_01: So I I was literally moving, and people were dealing with me.
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: Pressure, please, you have to do a booth.
- 50:23SPEAKER_01: You have not paid for it.
- 50:24SPEAKER_01: The venue is charging me and call and asking that no, you have not finished paying.
- 50:28SPEAKER_01: And the tickets were coming in bits and all, there wasn't any sponsorship.
- 50:31SPEAKER_01: So I'm now depending on the tickets and all that.
- 50:33SPEAKER_01: And then my event that was happening here, when they were paying, I was not taking the money to go and sort it out and all that.
- 50:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:38SPEAKER_01: In in the event.
- 50:40SPEAKER_01: So I kept going on the streets every now and then and all that.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: And with that kind of pressure, even to the extent, the first time that I went, I had to go to the hospital because is that I feel that half of my head was dividing, like in the night.
- 50:52SPEAKER_01: So I could feel it.
- 50:52SPEAKER_01: Like the pressure.
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: Pressure was too much.
- 50:54SPEAKER_01: So then I went to the I was 180 something.
- 50:56SPEAKER_01: So the woman said, if I step out, I'll fall down.
- 50:58SPEAKER_01: Then I told me, No, I don't know.
- 51:00SPEAKER_01: Let me sit down small.
- 51:01SPEAKER_01: I sat down small.
- 51:03SPEAKER_01: Let me sit down a little.
- 51:04SPEAKER_01: Then he checked that he was going down.
- 51:05SPEAKER_01: I said, Madam, I know where the problem is coming from.
- 51:07SPEAKER_01: The thing is too much on me, so that's why I have to do that.
- 51:10SPEAKER_01: So then when you walk out, I said, No, don't say that to me.
- 51:13SPEAKER_01: Because I will leave here and I'll be fine.
- 51:37SPEAKER_01: And I had to pay her back.
- 51:39SPEAKER_01: Angela.
- 51:40SPEAKER_01: I mean, because she said she sees the thing I'm doing and the one I'm creating in South Africa.
- 51:45SPEAKER_01: To find both you know, the thing is for everybody.
- 51:48SPEAKER_01: So you find the white and then the black, everywhere in white.
- 51:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:51SPEAKER_01: There was one lady who said that it's surprised that because this event actually brings all of them together in the room.
- 51:56SPEAKER_01: And that we have not treated the event as if it is for this, it's for that.
- 52:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 52:01SPEAKER_01: And that's the whole thing.
- 52:02SPEAKER_01: That's the whole idea.
- 52:03SPEAKER_01: And so and that is the day I met uh daughter in Kozazana, a very powerful woman.
- 52:09SPEAKER_01: I mean, in the room.
- 52:11SPEAKER_01: Because I had invited the president, but the president couldn't make it.
- 52:13SPEAKER_01: And the president told the Ministry of Women and to come, and that was the woman.
- 52:18SPEAKER_01: That's not an guy.
- 52:19SPEAKER_01: Somebody wrote they wrote to say, go to the event.
- 52:21SPEAKER_00: So they'll recommend somebody they'll let you know ahead of time.
- 52:24SPEAKER_00: And then if RSVP does not exist.
- 52:27SPEAKER_01: You have to beg for people to be at your event.
- 52:29SPEAKER_01: You ask, What's all patch?
- 52:30SPEAKER_01: What is this?
- 52:31SPEAKER_01: You have to beg people.
- 52:32SPEAKER_01: When you even build academy to a certain point that you are respected outside, it seems your own country don't want to give you that kind of respect.
- 52:38SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 52:39SPEAKER_01: Because if those times when I was working on the bridge and going when we had an office somewhere and I was going, I was using a laptop, which was back, which was not without lap, it was without laptop and papers.
- 52:47SPEAKER_01: You could treat me.
- 52:48SPEAKER_01: But if I build something to a certain point, I don't see the difficulty of because you become a minister, you don't value, or even maybe your age mates and colleagues, because you become a minister, you have moved away from people.
- 52:57SPEAKER_01: No, that's it.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: That's the challenge.
- 53:00SPEAKER_01: Now we did it, even the woman was in the room.
- 53:01SPEAKER_01: Do you know that even when we're looking for logistics, the guy who brought the stage brought half of the stage?
- 53:05SPEAKER_01: When he came, he was drunk.
- 53:06SPEAKER_01: So the stage you saw there was uh some adjusted stage.
- 53:09SPEAKER_01: If you if you walk back a bit, you fall in there.
- 53:12SPEAKER_01: I understand what you mean by you can never go mad again.
- 53:14SPEAKER_01: I mean the program started so late, and then we ended, we closed the program at 2 a.m.
- 53:18SPEAKER_01: The woman sat in the room till 2 a.m.
- 53:20SPEAKER_01: That's why I knew that God was giving me somebody.
- 53:22SPEAKER_01: That's when I met her, and then the first moment I went to do 1440 South Africa, held me, sponsored the event, and made me do the 1440.
- 53:29SPEAKER_01: And I'm telling you, all the 4040s, the biggest now is 1440 South Africa.
- 53:34SPEAKER_00: How are you able to have the tenacity to push through these kind of problems?
- 53:38SPEAKER_00: Because I'm listening to this, and so many people would stop and just give up.
- 53:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 53:43SPEAKER_01: You see, the things that your father has not given up on you, so that's the first thing, you know, which is the one who brought you to this world, he hasn't given up on you.
- 53:51SPEAKER_01: So my understanding is that you if you start giving up on you already, what you do is that you're not, you see, there are energies in this world.
- 53:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that when you wake up in the morning, you're down, you don't do anything on that, then it will flow with you like that.
- 54:05SPEAKER_01: You see, but you need to you need to push through the system and then get to another place.
- 54:11SPEAKER_01: So the the issue of I couldn't get a so I couldn't get it, so I'm giving up.
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: It's where the problem is, yeah.
- 54:18SPEAKER_01: That it's a survival of the fittest, even in pregnancy, it tells you that.
- 54:22SPEAKER_01: I mean, the whole situation indicates that even coming here crowd was not a you were pushed.
- 54:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, so literally you have to push.
- 54:28SPEAKER_01: You were pushed into the world, you were not, you didn't fall off like a bay, and then that's all, and then everything was there.
- 54:33SPEAKER_01: No, there was struggle, rise.
- 54:34SPEAKER_01: Right from the very beginning, and that's what I say all the time.
- 54:37SPEAKER_01: So I tell people, Christians, that you can pray, but the thing is that you must understand that you have to put in effort.
- 54:41SPEAKER_01: You cannot just rely on going in the morning and going to pray the whole day, and then that's it.
- 54:46SPEAKER_01: You know, I am one, of course, but and then you don't want to work.
- 54:49SPEAKER_01: He who does not work must not eat.
- 54:50SPEAKER_01: So why don't I work so that he can bless the work that I have?
- 54:53SPEAKER_01: Because the only thing is that your father cannot operate and dropping manners right now.
- 54:56SPEAKER_01: He can only bless what you have.
- 54:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and he has to use a man to do it.
- 55:00SPEAKER_01: So if you don't move, nothing happens.
- 55:02SPEAKER_01: The energies in this world will not move.
- 55:04SPEAKER_01: So take a step all the time and stop giving up on things like you start a business and then small ah, loss, loss is part of business.
- 55:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, if you don't want to get loss, you go and do backyard garden, tomato, backyard, even that one.
- 55:21SPEAKER_01: That one you can make loss.
- 55:23SPEAKER_01: No, put tomato copy tomato.
- 55:24SPEAKER_01: The tomato itself will you can't even find the tomato against something eating the tomato.
- 55:28SPEAKER_01: We don't have chickens who are getting cosidosis and die.
- 55:31SPEAKER_01: You even do small part, your own back, some you are taking care of some files.
- 55:34SPEAKER_01: In my life, six of them are dead.
- 55:35SPEAKER_01: There's nothing without the risk.
- 55:37SPEAKER_01: So you must understand that it is riskier when you don't risk.
- 55:44SPEAKER_01: Then that's better.
- 55:45SPEAKER_01: Then you know that whatever happens, you'll be able to achieve it.
- 55:47SPEAKER_01: So I believe in the principle of the fact that when I see a fire burning right now and uh it's flames, I don't want to wait for it to, you know, like you know, you're coming to do fizzle out and fizzle out coming out, funny, you know, no, make sure all this time is wasting of time.
- 56:01SPEAKER_01: I want to enter the fire.
- 56:03SPEAKER_01: So when I'm in the fire, it will be burning me.
- 56:05SPEAKER_01: So by the time we're finished, it will burn me as I've dealt with it.
- 56:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I walk with the scars.
- 56:09SPEAKER_01: That's why I say my badges, when you look at the book, he says that my scars, my badges of honor.
- 56:14SPEAKER_01: So I would have left the fire with some scars on my legs.
- 56:16SPEAKER_01: But the point is, I have achieved.
- 56:18SPEAKER_01: I have I've dealt with it and I've gone.
- 56:20SPEAKER_01: So let us let's not see things that it has to be some babysitting, and then even building a brand is like a baby.
- 56:28SPEAKER_01: You need to nurture it, it has to work, it has to get to a place.
- 56:30SPEAKER_01: So the lens is one bigger thing, of course.
- 56:32SPEAKER_01: Manage people in this country where you put them to a certain level and all that.
- 56:36SPEAKER_01: They would have thought that you are making money and collecting all the attention.
- 56:39SPEAKER_01: They don't know what you go through.
- 56:40SPEAKER_01: Maybe you know your bills, they don't know your white.
- 56:42SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 56:42SPEAKER_01: They don't know how many people call in a week to collect money from you because you're not working for ourselves, we work for people.
- 56:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because the money you make is not your take.
- 56:48SPEAKER_01: God actually distributes the money.
- 56:49SPEAKER_01: So he gives you some, then you give it to the soul by the time yourself.
- 56:52SPEAKER_01: It's going around, you have not eating much of it.
- 56:55SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 56:56SPEAKER_01: So it's a matter of um risking, and I love saying that all the time, taking a risk, desire what you want to become and take it and make a decision that I decide to be this, but this is it, make a firm decision that once I have decided, I want to be there.
- 57:12SPEAKER_01: So I remember when I needed a car called Sorrento at the time.
- 57:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Sorrento.
- 57:16SPEAKER_01: So I'm not really a fan of cars, but I think I love the name the Sorrento.
- 57:18SPEAKER_01: So I remember at a point, even it started from I was using BM316 somewhere, BM36 affordable.
- 57:25SPEAKER_01: That BM36 and it was smoking.
- 57:28SPEAKER_01: So before I married my wife, uh they were asking her, uh, the car, I mean, this car, the way it's going.
- 57:35SPEAKER_01: I mean, I is it sure?
- 57:36SPEAKER_01: Because I used to do model man work in Newtown.
- 57:39SPEAKER_01: Okay, see, then this is when I have finished Legon because when I have not worked for anybody ever since I finished school in 2006.
- 57:46SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, I have not worked for anybody.
- 57:48SPEAKER_01: So the decision was from there that I will not work for anybody.
- 57:50SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 57:51SPEAKER_01: So I so my employees tell me that sometimes I don't understand how employee and no, no, I understand.
- 57:55SPEAKER_01: You know, I understand, but yeah, I didn't.
- 57:57SPEAKER_01: So when we were doing some of when we finished, we're doing service.
- 58:01SPEAKER_01: I went to do the service at Xumu Kabwa Kuta, uh, which was in Suhum and all that at the time.
- 58:06SPEAKER_01: I even became a leader of the national, whatever and all that uh uh uh service personnel, stuff like that.
- 58:12SPEAKER_01: But I came back here, then I wanted to study Exodus because we're three people myself and Latif Oba Kari, they're playwright.
- 58:17SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah, and then Remonablo, we're three people, we're just here at the fore.
- 58:20SPEAKER_01: There's a forex bill, the father has a forex bill.
- 58:22SPEAKER_01: We started from there with TLG, which is tomorrow leaders Ghana.
- 58:25SPEAKER_01: Okay, we're changing the mentality of people uh about how they can make it, and that's what we're trying to do, which is a very serious thing that must be done in schools.
- 58:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because you see, you see, somebody in Uganda, the child is enlightened, but you see, here you don't deliberately train them from the very beginning.
- 58:41SPEAKER_01: So we were I was going to ask you that.
- 58:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we need to now get into the books, get them to understand this.
- 58:46SPEAKER_01: You can make it.
- 58:46SPEAKER_01: Kwame Kuman did it, you can do this, and that sort of thing must be in the child before he comes out.
- 58:51SPEAKER_01: And that's what I'm doing to my 14-year-old boy because making sure that he has to learn how to take over the business.
- 58:55SPEAKER_01: Don't leave it for only the Indians and Lebanese who can now do legacies and take over.
- 58:58SPEAKER_01: They you, your child will come back and later on you build a business, and when you're there, no, nothing happens again.
- 59:02SPEAKER_00: I was going to ask you that do you do you believe one of the reasons a lot of people are afraid to take risks, to become entrepreneurs, to make something for themselves, is because we are schooled to believe that we should be, you know, we should wait, we should be entitled, wait for government to do it for us, wait for our boss to do it for us, wait for somebody to come and save us.
- 59:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, just before I come on to that, let me let me tell you about the new town story.
- 59:27SPEAKER_01: So I used to do a middleman in New Town, which is that printing.
- 59:30SPEAKER_01: You know, the printing, I go and buy the beer.
- 59:32SPEAKER_01: So you think I'm the printer.
- 59:33SPEAKER_01: So when they ask me, Auntie asked that, ah, so what do you do now?
- 59:36SPEAKER_01: I said, I'm a communications consultant.
- 59:38SPEAKER_01: It's a very big push.
- 59:39SPEAKER_01: Because even the when I was going to marry the uh my in-law asked me, so what do you do?
- 59:43SPEAKER_01: I said, Oh, Allah, you know, I come here, come here.
- 59:46SPEAKER_01: So the day there's no contract, I will take off my daughter.
- 59:49SPEAKER_01: But I'm sure my wife is proud of me now.
- 59:51SPEAKER_01: Now, at the time in Newtown, so I will say, I'll call and buy the paper, go and do color separation, go and give to the printer, and then come and print.
- 59:58SPEAKER_01: By the time I realized, I brought your thing for you, but I'm not one.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_01: Even Mary will tell you at the time when Mary was in school and finished school, Mary.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_01: Then it was a president of uh uh uh uh uh I think that it was the president of the vote house or something like that.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_01: Some of their magazines I even had to go and do and print, and I was still in the school moving around and all.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_01: And I used to do campaigns, so I was into I was into a lot of politics in terms of student leadership.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_01: So I used to do campaigns.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_01: So you pay me, consultant, like a power broker, and I write articles.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_01: Yes, uh-huh.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_04: You see, that's where the thing is.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_01: You pay me, then I ran election on that.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_01: So at the time we were known as in in Lagon, we were known as the power brokers.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_01: We determine people who must win elections.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_01: When I stood for election, I didn't win myself.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_01: But I am as a campaign manager, you make somebody win into power, and we used to write articles, we used to do and the things we did in Lagos is one of the things that has kept us today.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_01: So all the time when I see my friends talking on poly, I talk that I see them talking, and I see they are exercising the same thing that we learned.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_01: We learned actually from the Lagon campus.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_01: We learned leadership, we learn how to write articles.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_01: We we so we came out.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_01: You see, when you go to university and begin to do only go to SU, go to many, let's say all the unions, and you don't learn, you don't even know how to write.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_01: How do you leave Lagon?
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then you don't know how to use Mavis.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_01: You if you don't know how to use Mavis, what of even no A and B and you can't write an article, you can't write a letter.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_01: So the problem is that people are fed with mark A, B, C, D, yeah, and then enter a certain it's so static, not dynamic learning.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_01: So the person is more used to let me pass my exams.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_01: He doesn't leave the school with certain strength.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but when I finished school immediately, I opened what to call the Abbey Ok.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_01: It was an agency immediately started looking for adverts for the magazines in Ligon.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_01: I was looking for magazine space.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_01: You took the same knowledge from what you had been doing.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_01: Yes, because I I decided we're writing articles.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_01: So we were writing articles.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_01: You wake up in the morning, some article as reads coming for me, it may be coming from Kujatuabla, so maybe coming for some side.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, justice, which is uh attorney general.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_01: Now, these articles are that we're building, we were we're now finding ways and skillful ways of talking and delivery and all that.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_01: These things were building us, but some people will go, they will only just walk through the school, hold their books this way, and then get into the school and come back, and then hold their backs, and then you don't you don't you need to go through the walls and learn something.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_01: That's why you come out writing and realize that there's no job because the thing is that your abilities.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_01: When we wrote the first, I remember when I came and said UBA was writing how to do test on that.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_01: When I finished writing, I said, no, no, no.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure I want to work for anybody.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_01: So it it it's it's it's it's it's it's a bit of I don't know how to put it, but people should not go through things, schools, and then just come out like that and then not trouble.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_01: Let me cut the question again if I so I can come up.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_01: I told our new town, you asked me some questions.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I was trying to understand that do you think it's the way people are trained what makes them afraid to take the risk?
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_01: Because I'm saying that even when you are coming up from the beginning, you are saying that don't go hey, don't go do that.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you see, so the child estimate is been told that you don't have to be because the thing is that when your parents are talking, I understand, but which is a culture and all that, uh, you don't have to be around and be very careful, and you know how you have to learn how to say this and all that.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_01: But you see, that when you go outside, the child is giving that room.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_02: You understand?
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_01: We also have to be very careful because our morals are very important.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_01: Because these days, I have a friend whose child was taken to the US and and now he's misbehaving with the father.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_01: The father wishes he would have brought him to Ghana, give him some seven slaps and take him back to the US.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_01: No, so that he will come, you make joy my friend Ahani Lufriba Koy.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_01: You slap him back.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_01: Seven of them because here you can't be now take him back and bring him here.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_01: So the issue is the grooming and the chant and what you are reading in our books, it's the problem.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_01: What are we learning?
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_01: Even in the university, I did psychology and I did music, okay, and then I did and I did classics.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_01: You ask me how.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_01: Well, I don't know, but maybe it's one of the but I don't know how that has I didn't use that visual.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_01: So it's a psychology that works that works for me.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_01: But music the idea was at level 100 when you dance, yeah.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_01: You get the ontology, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_01: But please don't know, it's not, it wasn't that never existed.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_01: It has never existed, but you should disclaim, it's it's music.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_01: Well, let me coach it and all that.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_01: And it was given us the A because at the time I did, I had so the first they had music, dance, classics, classics, very difficult.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_01: This and then psychology.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_01: So the dance is where we used to dance dumba, and then and then used to dance go ta and all that.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_01: So even some of the dances when you dance, you get a it was a little easier from the beginning and all that.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_01: But I I I chose it when I was going, then I started dropping them, and then chose information studies and then uh psychology and all that.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_01: But I remember that you just turn your reserve around very well, and then do some choreography, and then you get a Mr.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_01: Newman.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_01: At that time and all that, it was it was it was it was the one.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_01: Now, would I have said that this is what I was giving, so yeah, I give up.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_01: No, you know, I need to work through out and say that no, I want to keep my psychology till now.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_01: Somehow the psychology helps me in business because you need to understand human behavior and their actions and all that, and it has helped till now.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_01: So, our grooming and our books and what we are teaching the children from the very beginning, and how practical are we?
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_01: Is it supposed to be reading alone?
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_01: But are you putting them in simulated situations for them to understand it?
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_01: Maybe they speak one day, speech and price, they need to talk, deliver a speech, do a debate.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_01: Remember, we used to do a lot of debate those times.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then so that the child becomes equipped.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_01: I mean, are you putting him in a very football environment to find out whether he has a talent and all that?
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_01: Why are we not having a lot of football people right?
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_01: Football like guys right now because you remember those times in academics, we were training them, and even in taco and all that we used to go, you find someone who was running.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_01: Most of my mates were running, they didn't run again.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_01: Who who was there to go around and notice them and say, Let me pick this one, pick this one and pick this one and train him?
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_01: So there's no we are not intentional about how to build it.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_01: Look, we would have had a lot of backlogs of people that we can take to enter into the football uh stream, in that we knew that oh, when they were doing in taco, because we're recently being in commerce.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_01: There was a lady who was running, they called her something, a name was given to her, it was on TikTok.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_01: Who has gone to speak to this lady and to find out how to go?
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_01: And groom that person, some small girl, there was a name.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_01: What is some name that he was having?
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_01: Some name it was just running, and everybody was.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_01: He made name, he was a computer the other schools and all that.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_01: Who is going there saying, pick this child, begin to train the child so that he gets only by the time he's maybe some 10-5 years old, this guy is running for the country.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_01: I will leave him or we'll leave it, and that's oh what happened?
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_01: He won't add that intercourse, student level is done.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_00: That's the problem.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_00: So it comes back to having a systems problem where we don't think in systems, you know, when we notice a problem, and I see this with a lot of entrepreneurs, a lot of employees, especially.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, when we see a problem, we don't think what system can we create to solve this problem permanently?
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_00: We are always just looking at it at the individual level.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_00: So let's say we don't have enough entrepreneurs or we don't have a lot of these types of people and we need more of them.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_00: What systems can we set up?
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_00: Let's take football.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_00: I love that you mentioned football.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_00: From the Asian Stephen Appia era, we started to see, you know, Ghanaian football go global on a larger scale.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_00: Of course, we had the Tony Aboa Bedipele before, but the Asian era sort of made football in Ghana become a thing that everybody loved.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_00: What systems did we put in place to make sure that generation after generation we will produce that quality over and over again?
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_00: But we'll wait.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_00: Then when 10 years later the quality is not the same, we'll say, Oh, these guys don't have what the old guys had.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_01: And that sort of thing is.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_01: So that's why I said that if we can be very intentional about the academies, if we can be intentional about what goes on in secondary schools and intercourse and all that, because as Samuel General was a footballer, of course, in a crack academy, and that's where he had identified him.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_01: So he he would have been doing a lot of academics, but academic was not necessarily the strength.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_01: We need to understand that people must not necessarily go to school all the time, and that's what they have to do.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_01: There are people who have multiple talents that can be groomed and trained, they can do a bit of academic on the side.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_01: Like this lady who is dancing, uh Afro Nita and all is dancing, but I seen my trying to school at the end of the day.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_01: Now you went on an international stage.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_01: Now, the thing is we don't understand that what football does is that is there's national cohesion and unity that brings that.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_01: If we understand what football does for us, even the money, look at qualifying just for a group and how much you make.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so this is a whole revenue for this country.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_01: Now, if you win, look at the money here.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_01: So if we can be intentional about it, and I'm not a sports person, in fact, I only got to love sports recently because my client took me on uh to uh Canada and had to take me to you can take me to this one and watch the matchup.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_01: That's when I even started loving football because they are not good at it, so it makes my wife very happy because when they are watching, you know, I won't watch you know women who like to keep you.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that's what I became for.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_01: But I started asking now why are we not going back to these schools and then training these people and picking them from there?
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_01: So somebody can be an agency internationally, or maybe even coming agency international that when it's what is going on, okay.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_01: You go here, you go, we're fine now.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_01: When you are done, you see what the talents in there, or the footballers that are playing in all that match, find the talent in there, the basketball players or whatever they are, and let's see whether they can be someone account.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_01: I mean that we're creating them, intentionally grooming them, yeah.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_01: Like the way even people do for NS NMSQ or something, where when they get in level 100, they intentionally will I perceive train them from the beginning and all that.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_01: That is how we are supposed to do the same thing, you know.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_01: Because I remember Daniel Ardos and some uh uh Audi Zakers, like these guys.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_01: Look at it.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_01: Can't we?
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_01: You know, and then you know, can we get the same thing in this country?
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_01: So when you are left to quite, they want to change from left to right.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's changing the left and your taboo, you change it.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_01: My son, the last one is left, and I'm telling you, it's an artist, he's just drawing.
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_01: I tell you, the thing the guy is drawing, so I'm now looking at it more because you see, there's more money even so you can draw and make millions.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_01: You want to now concentrate, you can go to school, but I want that to be built up.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_01: You get what I'm saying?
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_01: So we need to find emperors must move away from the mentality to say that it is no, no, no, no, you won't do this one, this one, uh, football, you'll break your legs, or maybe this art and all that and it will not take you far.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_01: I want you to become a doctor and all that.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, we must lawyer, lawyer, uh, architect.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_01: How many of them that we said in the school that we never became pilot?
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_01: Pilot, pilot, that's the big afraid of play.
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_01: Like many of the things we said that we got people, I mean I've heard of the play.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, a lot of things we said and we're more interested in big.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna ask me, Oh, at the time he said he wants to be a police by but we didn't understand.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_01: We are still as he said we want to be a soldier because he wants to hear other things, yeah.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_01: Now asking whether is he sure?
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_01: Because he goes to dress as a pilot when he goes to school for the day, career day, career.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_01: No, that's actually not probably what's my my first one said, Oh no, I want to be a businessman because every time he keeps making millions of dollars, and I don't know whether he's seen the money before, but then I realized okay, that's the guy has a certain design in that area, so let me groom him to become and take over and from there.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_01: So we need to be experienced, be also intentional about how we are going because if the family system works, then it will help, then the nation can all become a bit easier because the school will not be able to complement with the family, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and go on.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_01: So you think the family system isn't working as well these days?
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_01: You know, the rate the rate at which, first of all, it's breaking now, you know.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah now look at it.
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_01: Okay, maybe you're an entrepreneur, your wife is an entrepreneur.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_01: The time to spend with children at the time that now is normal.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_01: You go to school, it's like that.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_01: They spend the majority of the time in the school, and that's why they pick up behaviors that you don't understand because peer issues, and then also the schools who now, what it maybe the teacher is the one who probably will have that up to the five o'clock with him, and that's it.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_01: The question is formerly it would have been it's easier you meet your your dad.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_01: Fine, he'll go and come back.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, sometimes you meet him or you have some family reunions, sometimes you sit down to eat on the same table.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_01: Now, by the time you're not giving you once he's eating the kitchen, someone is eating here, somebody there's no everybody on the phone because the man is on the phone or wake up in the morning because sometimes I wake up in the morning and I need to deal with China on the on tropes, I need to do with Kenya, who is three hours ahead of me.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I need to deal with UK, who is one hour ahead of me.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_01: Then I come to deal with somebody in the US.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_01: Now, the thing is that you are loaded.
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so what time do we create?
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_01: The very few minutes where we need to have to say how to bond these people, how to train them, how do we groom them?
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_01: When you are coming from the beginning on and get to 13, they start teaching you, you're becoming a man, you have to be careful, you can.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_01: Those are things that I think that it's the the technology ages, becomes something.
- 1:11:51SPEAKER_01: The children are always on their phones now.
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_01: Yes, because the games of the alicutus, the decos, the reason I know that which were teaching a lot of things, which is like even even when you are doing uh the uh it's a scale, but you see now it's about virtual, yeah.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_01: You I will see my boy he's alone and he's doing it because and he's communicating with somebody else.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_01: Now the question is what is the person even telling?
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_01: You have that's why we're telling me that look, what is a person?
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_01: That's what these you buy the cartoons and then you realize let's let's be in whatever a child is kissing, and then the child picks up and sees that a normalized thing.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, one of the things the West has done to us is that he's they've normalized things that make it feel it is real, it is okay.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_01: I can give you an instance.
- 1:12:28SPEAKER_01: There's an event in United Kingdom which is called uh I think an entrepreneur was or something.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_01: You have to pay for entry in terms of to nominate.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_01: It's normalized.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's okay.
- 1:12:39SPEAKER_01: Try it here right now.
- 1:12:41SPEAKER_01: Oh, you're collecting money to enter.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_01: But he's collecting 300 pounds for nomination.
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_01: If he gets 100 people, he's done, he's done.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_01: But you try it here.
- 1:12:49SPEAKER_01: So they normalize things.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_01: We are able to accept it, but we can't normalize that.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_01: We are unable to tell them something is it.
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_01: This is ours, they must accept it.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_00: I've heard that they've started normalizing paying to attend a birthday party and weddings.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_01: Ah, imagine.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because I'm going to try that.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_00: I'll be organizing a birthday party.
- 1:13:09SPEAKER_00: Everybody will pay to attend.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_01: Look at how to eat.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_01: We are coming to eat your food.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_00: Eat your food, and when you don't service on that day, what will happen to you is that one of the days that people used to celebrate you on your birthday.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_00: Now you have to.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_01: No, no, they have to pay for them to come and celebrate.
- 1:13:25SPEAKER_01: Nobody is giving you anything now.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_01: That's where we are getting to.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_01: So we need to let the family system become intentional about how to groom their children and so that we don't and it breaks because and another fear is that is the divorce rate.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_01: You understand?
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_01: I think that what marriage has done is that sometimes it's not as if it is not as if it is wrong and right or whatever.
- 1:13:42SPEAKER_01: But I think that sometimes when it happens that we is we are not able to check the children, the children should be our fundamental focus, no matter what happens along the line.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's bound to check us, but we need to now see how to keep the children in checks and all that.
- 1:13:55SPEAKER_01: And sometimes we need to just take the phones of our children and see what is going on.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, true.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_01: You see somebody sending some messages to your child, and it's so bad.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_01: And you need to not tell him, No, son, don't allow the person.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_00: I watched, I watched this experiment that they did.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_00: Um, this this man tries this thing, and he likes a 14-year-old girl or so, and he chats with her.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_00: He had the parents' permission, and he chats with her and everything, and she came out to come and meet him.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_00: And the parents were there, and they were like, How?
- 1:14:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, we should not lose our morals, yeah.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_01: And that one there, we shouldn't lose our morals.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_01: Now you know there's no cane system in the school and all that.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_01: What's that when they give you six?
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_01: No, you're late, you're at six, sometimes twelve.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_00: Mean say I hated canine, so the one I was disciplined in school.
- 1:14:43SPEAKER_01: Now there's no cane.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's more of talking, so it means that's a counseling and career center should be activated in the school so that they can talk to these children and how to.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_01: Now, if you're going to school, they tell this school commission with too much.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_01: I don't think you're so you see, there's because everybody's afraid and all that.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_01: We should just have to be intentional about everything that we do.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_01: You see, there's always a plan that this was actually go with.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_01: There's like the only go, it's like you're planning.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we we is the Bugabuga is too much, so we don't really look at it or then we leave it, then we leave it with another.
- 1:15:11SPEAKER_01: Meanwhile, the the future is actually the people we are grooming, they become what we make them to become.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_00: I I I heard that you got something very rare happening in your life.
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_00: Well, your father actually came to apologize to you.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_00: How did that happen?
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so the thing is, my dad in the very beginning, um, I had a bit of I think uh let me say I know what it's a struggle, but was not take was not responsible.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_01: Um was it after the divorce?
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_01: Uh yes, from the very beginning.
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_01: Because I mean, at a time when I was now literally maybe in primary school in faith, which is faith, faith evangelical.
- 1:15:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, the the school is in Mataico.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_01: I I didn't feel responsibility.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_01: So my stepmom, fine, was also I was there once in a while with helping and all that.
- 1:15:59SPEAKER_01: But I never stayed with my dad.
- 1:16:01SPEAKER_01: So I only stayed with my dad when I had finished secondary school.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_01: I think in two somewhere around two in 2000 or so, when I started uh uh I went to live in uh sorry um or something.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_01: That's when I started living with my dad.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_01: So it means in all the years, it's been uncle, auntie, step, you understand, and then my grand one grandma, grandma dad is in my life, you know.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_01: It's it's the here and there and all that.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_01: So in the beginning, um it is after the point when I think that I finished the JSS and then I come out with that eight once or something.
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_01: That's when I think that we call or so.
- 1:16:34SPEAKER_01: And I thought I was very strict at the time in the very beginning.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_01: And I knew I was a very stubborn boy when I was at the beginning, in terms of my Tatter Clothes movie here and there, running here and there, and all that.
- 1:16:44SPEAKER_01: So at the point, it looks like I I didn't feel the presence because I didn't feel leaving the school feet.
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_01: I mean, they were not paying.
- 1:16:51SPEAKER_01: You were going to, I still went to uh I was walking to school, they were not paying all that.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_01: But at a certain age, my father caught that.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think that far back when he called, he said he knows he's not done well, and then he had blood charged.
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_01: And I say it every day, because I don't, even if my father said I'll tell you we are like we are like friends now.
- 1:17:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, he lives in the US.
- 1:17:09SPEAKER_01: We go there with child.
- 1:17:10SPEAKER_01: When we are talking today, it's like somebody and his you know, but he acknowledged that there was a problem, that he was not doing well, and that's if fathers will do that, yeah.
- 1:17:17SPEAKER_01: That's actually very fathers will do that.
- 1:17:19SPEAKER_01: Sometimes we become, you see, our ego is too much as fathers, you know.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_01: Men, I just say we are saying sometimes to come down and then to that mean you didn't do well, yeah.
- 1:17:31SPEAKER_01: Because sometimes people have denied children, but they begin later, they look at the resemblance, hey, that's my brother, you know.
- 1:17:37SPEAKER_01: So let's learn to not to say it's a child who must come to apologize all the time.
- 1:17:41SPEAKER_01: Let's learn to say, because there are times we say sorry to our children, yeah.
- 1:17:45SPEAKER_01: Of course, we tell them we tell we tell them, you know.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_01: So let's learn to know when we are wrong and then say this is it and all that.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_01: Because if I because I've gone through too much from the very beginning, I've gone through too much.
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_01: I mean, in that darkness, I was learning, in that veranda, I was sleeping.
- 1:18:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, in that, and then and and anytime you call and on the phone, it's like no, no, no, no, no, no, like it's a rush.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_01: I mean, sometimes you not see him once a while, a long time.
- 1:18:09SPEAKER_01: So it was too much for me.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_01: And I thought that uh if it was money matter, fine, but I felt that maybe, you know, that those times most of our fathers today were just taking this whole childhood thing that's normal, and then that's it and all that.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_01: But I don't say oh I thought, okay, no, I thought okay.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_01: Look, I'm sorry because I know that I didn't do well.
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_01: My mom, it was 18.
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_01: She explained that, oh, that there were a few times that she made an attempt.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_01: And when she was coming, that my grandmother was not ready to allow.
- 1:18:39SPEAKER_00: So, where where did you meet her?
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_00: She came to Ghana.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_00: I went to Nigeria.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_00: You went to Nigeria to look for her.
- 1:18:43SPEAKER_01: To look for her, yes, because there was somebody who was going.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_01: So they actually planned that somebody should come and carry me.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_01: So the person had to come in, so I had to be on the road.
- 1:18:50SPEAKER_01: So we drove from here through Semeboda, through Beni, hey, sleepover the next day, and then went there to go and meet another.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_01: And then I saw my sister who had been writing letters and was crying all the time.
- 1:19:02SPEAKER_01: That he said that he has a brother here, but he has never met the brother.
- 1:19:06SPEAKER_01: So they have been a journey, bam, delay T T Lyo, because they stayed there for a very long time and all that.
- 1:19:10SPEAKER_01: So I thought at the 18, I think that we reconciled.
- 1:19:12SPEAKER_01: That was first I was coming, they gave me$300.
- 1:19:15SPEAKER_01: I was coming, then I was coming back to uh Acro Academy and all that.
- 1:19:18SPEAKER_01: So in Acro Academy, I was living in a hostel because uh I didn't want to go and stay in Bondi because if you already have a problem, yeah.
- 1:19:24SPEAKER_01: So there was a place called California, I was saying just by the side.
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_01: That's where I used to be.
- 1:19:27SPEAKER_01: I came to come beyond I was a big guy at the time.
- 1:19:29SPEAKER_01: When I came back, I came and uh I stayed in a hostel for like two years, and then I stood for to become a prefect.
- 1:19:39SPEAKER_01: Okay, so the first time a D student is running for uh a prefect.
- 1:19:44SPEAKER_00: Is that the one that you didn't win and you went to campaign for someone later?
- 1:19:46SPEAKER_01: No, no, that was in the uh uh Legal.
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_01: Okay, you're like leadership thing is something I've always desired because I was a D student.
- 1:19:53SPEAKER_01: Now, this is a poor guy.
- 1:19:54SPEAKER_01: Already me, my shoes are not correct, my dresses are not correct, and here I'm saying I want to become a school prefect.
- 1:20:01SPEAKER_01: So do you think as you've been interested in leadership, will you continue into politics?
- 1:20:04SPEAKER_01: No, because that's one of things, because I would have thought that a lot of people would have thought that by now I should be in politics.
- 1:20:09SPEAKER_01: Most of my mates, I mean, Utukon, some of them not mates, but maybe in the circles of when I was in Lagon, yeah.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_01: Some like I mean, even Thomas Ampim, the deputy chief and all.
- 1:20:20SPEAKER_01: Some of them who are now there right now, of course, we did a lot of politics with them.
- 1:20:24SPEAKER_01: Some of them maybe ambassadors, like Ken Abuchi, and all that.
- 1:20:27SPEAKER_01: So they would have thought that from Lagon would have continued to die.
- 1:20:30SPEAKER_01: But see, some people were intentional when we were Lagon, they knew where they were already.
- 1:20:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, true.
- 1:20:34SPEAKER_01: But I chose business.
- 1:20:35SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:20:36SPEAKER_01: Because in the end So your leadership is in business.
- 1:20:38SPEAKER_01: It's in business.
- 1:20:38SPEAKER_01: They are telling me they think I can come back.
- 1:20:40SPEAKER_01: No, I don't think I like to get in politics.
- 1:20:41SPEAKER_01: The thing is that I you leave four years and you need me rather as a businessman.
- 1:20:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_01: So sometimes when you when you are in power for four years, I tell them when you think you're in power, it's just well now they say five years.
- 1:20:50SPEAKER_01: Yes, five years.
- 1:20:51SPEAKER_01: But your point is that you are limited because when you are not in power, it's very sad.
- 1:20:54SPEAKER_01: And it's happening, of course, even the opposition has seen that.
- 1:20:56SPEAKER_01: So I tell friends that look, be keep your network.
- 1:20:59SPEAKER_01: And that's the most powerful thing you have.
- 1:21:00SPEAKER_01: And don't use politics to interbedate and think that you are there.
- 1:21:03SPEAKER_01: Keep your network because you can just need somebody by a call.
- 1:21:06SPEAKER_01: Something that he has to do for you in order.
- 1:21:08SPEAKER_01: So don't become uh today's art.
- 1:21:14SPEAKER_01: And I I pity some some people when they do that, when they get to the place.
- 1:21:18SPEAKER_01: Because I knew friends who were there and then they have come to sit quiet.
- 1:21:21SPEAKER_01: Now when you call them, they will pick the call.
- 1:21:23SPEAKER_01: So opposition friendship is a scam.
- 1:21:25SPEAKER_01: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:21:26SPEAKER_01: When somebody's opposition is a friend to it's a scam.
- 1:21:28SPEAKER_01: Because when it comes into power, it changes the whole thing.
- 1:21:30SPEAKER_01: Sometimes the very person you know, you can call him several times.
- 1:21:32SPEAKER_01: He doesn't care.
- 1:21:33SPEAKER_01: It's not like you're looking for money.
- 1:21:34SPEAKER_01: You still want to establish a relationship.
- 1:21:36SPEAKER_00: I've heard people say this.
- 1:21:38SPEAKER_00: What are your thoughts on it?
- 1:21:39SPEAKER_00: I've heard people say they don't think Ghana should be a multi-party state where, so instead, let's take a country like China, which has one party, so there's no opposition.
- 1:21:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you it is competitive because everybody is vying for a position, yeah, but once we have positions, we are all one.
- 1:21:57SPEAKER_01: Do you think that would be a better type of governance and I don't I don't align with that, even though I understand that sometimes autocracy actually makes a lot of development because you know, God, nobody's competing with my half father, of course, he's the one, he doesn't now come to make a decision with man.
- 1:22:13SPEAKER_01: But if God has to make a decision with people on you, on and say that let's do it.
- 1:22:16SPEAKER_01: If we have to vote for God, like by now, then we don't have God.
- 1:22:20SPEAKER_01: And then if he has to also decide and say, We'll meet your brother and say, Do we bless you?
- 1:22:23SPEAKER_01: We are in trouble.
- 1:22:25SPEAKER_01: So you see, autocracy in itself, if you look at it, it has its own benefits because then in that case, things go on in a certain manner.
- 1:22:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, um, the thing is that democracy it's it's it gives rooms.
- 1:22:35SPEAKER_01: I mean, of course, so that when one party misbehaves, the other person can kick him out because sometimes when you're in power for a very long time, you tend to misbehave.
- 1:22:41SPEAKER_01: You can you can see them in South Korea and other places and other where one person alone is in charge, and then there are some atrocities sometimes which are committed in other countries just because of the fact that one person is there.
- 1:22:50SPEAKER_01: So I do believe that the way, for instance, where NDC has come to move in the MPP now, and then maybe some years, in case they also maybe go be able to people decide, it gives room for us to change power.
- 1:23:02SPEAKER_00: No, but the concept isn't one person in charge, you're saying a party, one party.
- 1:23:06SPEAKER_00: No, so it's a universe, it's a unified government.
- 1:23:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so as in, let's say it's one party, okay, but you can be in charge, I can be in charge.
- 1:23:14SPEAKER_00: So we are fighting for leadership.
- 1:23:17SPEAKER_00: Yes, but once we become, once one person becomes a leader, yeah, there's no opposing party.
- 1:23:23SPEAKER_00: And the concept is that you see, right now, let's say in Ghana, there's MPP and there's NDC.
- 1:23:29SPEAKER_00: So even if an NDC person agrees with an MPP person, they can never say it out because they are opponents.
- 1:23:38SPEAKER_00: Whereas in a unified party, yeah, we are together, we are all Ghanaians.
- 1:23:43SPEAKER_00: So at the end of the day, the right person who gets into power is just leading the Ghanaians.
- 1:23:49SPEAKER_00: Now, if you misbehave and you leave power, you leave power and a better person comes to run the country.
- 1:23:55SPEAKER_01: It's just going to take a very difficult time for even Ghanaians to accept this.
- 1:23:57SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:23:58SPEAKER_01: As to who gives us who is it, when we are leading or not.
- 1:24:00SPEAKER_01: I thought I saw something in Sadhaka which was very interesting.
- 1:24:02SPEAKER_01: That when the president had what he didn't get the numbers, he needed to have taken on some other party in order to do a unified government.
- 1:24:10SPEAKER_01: That's what really happens.
- 1:24:11SPEAKER_01: Maybe we can look at a constitution where if you don't meet a certain criteria, you must take something from the other side.
- 1:24:14SPEAKER_01: Then it becomes like we are all focused on what nobody's accusing.
- 1:24:17SPEAKER_01: That's what happened to uh the new president, I I Ramafusa, because he couldn't get the numbers, and then now he had to bring in another party, numbers or something to adapt to the yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:28SPEAKER_01: Maybe that will help so that we are all focused on development and all that.
- 1:24:32SPEAKER_01: But in terms of this country trying to say, let's do this, you see the the hunger, the hunger for power in Africa is too much.
- 1:24:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the way we hang, like there's that kind of hunger to power and there's so much greed women coming and let me take it and all that.
- 1:24:49SPEAKER_01: Because when you hear some of the money, sometimes you ask us, ah, so what did you use it for and all that?
- 1:24:53SPEAKER_01: That's the problem we have the way the the point is that the people are becoming leaders.
- 1:24:58SPEAKER_01: The question is whether do they have training?
- 1:25:00SPEAKER_01: Do they do they?
- 1:25:01SPEAKER_01: I don't say entrepreneurs should be leading, but what is your background?
- 1:25:05SPEAKER_01: What have you done?
- 1:25:07SPEAKER_01: If you you could run why yeah, it's but so sometimes there's no skill, there's no nothing, and I'm not saying you can't be trained, but then the question is that it means that we must run a certain training for the next three or four months for every leader that is getting to government or something.
- 1:25:22SPEAKER_01: But that's we used to do that thing, I would trick them to a particular place on three days and we are done.
- 1:25:26SPEAKER_00: But that's why they they call that the problem of democracy, because democracy ends up being a popularity contest.
- 1:25:32SPEAKER_00: Yes, because the people who are voting, you're not looking at these things as well, exactly.
- 1:25:36SPEAKER_00: So maybe somebody is trained, and the reason it may not work in democracy is you can train somebody for 30 years to leave the country, and then people say, Oh, he's too short, he's too tall.
- 1:25:47SPEAKER_00: You know, yeah.
- 1:25:47SPEAKER_01: I meant to say that when a government is in power, you should find a way of training the leadership at that stage.
- 1:25:58SPEAKER_00: The four years that the person is here ready to cash out and go.
- 1:26:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's the thing.
- 1:26:03SPEAKER_01: That's the thing.
- 1:26:04SPEAKER_01: I mean, so I it's very bad.
- 1:26:05SPEAKER_01: Look at I mean Sylvania and all that, staying in power for all this one, poor Bia.
- 1:26:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't even know what you are looking for, where you want to stay in power for the rest of your life and all that, forgetting there's always history, your children are in your family, people cannot go and attack them.
- 1:26:19SPEAKER_01: So we need to, we need to.
- 1:26:21SPEAKER_01: Africa has a big problem when it comes to leadership and all that.
- 1:26:24SPEAKER_01: And fortunately, the people who have learned some few things, when they are when you are when somebody's in your empower, it's like you can't talk.
- 1:26:29SPEAKER_01: So because you find that somebody is in opposition because he sees his own party is misleading, but he cannot you find only people who do that, they cannot say that no, because he's bound by the politics of the fact that it's all loyalty.
- 1:26:42SPEAKER_01: So he has to require that.
- 1:26:44SPEAKER_01: It's like, for instance, people I remember when I made some comments sometime back and they say, Ah, okay, ah, so why were you and there were genuine cases because you lived in this country and you remember that there were an issue of in terms of interest rate and we went to a 30% when you're looking for money from the banks.
- 1:26:58SPEAKER_01: These banks don't even give you the money already.
- 1:26:59SPEAKER_01: Now they give you and was going there.
- 1:27:00SPEAKER_01: Then you come, it's getting to 11%, which we must fix, of course, all of us.
- 1:27:04SPEAKER_01: You come to 11.
- 1:27:04SPEAKER_01: Now, if you are an entrepreneur, you appreciate it, it means that you have supported the party.
- 1:27:07SPEAKER_01: What what is this?
- 1:27:08SPEAKER_01: But meanwhile, you appreciate the the element of what has been done, and you think that it's helping because businesses were suffering.
- 1:27:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, at the time when the currency was almost getting into any cities and all that.
- 1:27:16SPEAKER_01: When you talk about it, at the time when you because if you you sometimes even these country people cannot talk because when you speak, either they'll bring the tax people to come and look at what business are you doing.
- 1:27:26SPEAKER_01: You see, so everybody is even the entrepreneurs are afraid, they don't even know the main entrepreneurs don't comment on things.
- 1:27:32SPEAKER_01: No, because by the time I realize you can be you know meow.
- 1:27:39SPEAKER_01: Remind you, remind you.
- 1:27:42SPEAKER_01: So that's another challenge.
- 1:27:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, meanwhile, it should have been open, we shouldn't worry, we should have taken the comments from these critics or from the or people have gone outside.
- 1:27:48SPEAKER_01: You see, when I travel and I come back in, then I ask myself, do we learn?
- 1:27:52SPEAKER_01: Because common junctions, intersections where there should be a stop and then.
- 1:28:00SPEAKER_01: And we will not put stop that rest stop there so that you know the rule is that who came first goes.
- 1:28:03SPEAKER_01: We will not do it.
- 1:28:04SPEAKER_01: And then you see somebody honing after you, why are you even stopping?
- 1:28:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:28:07SPEAKER_01: I have become very tolerant after driving on the streets of Canada and US.
- 1:28:11SPEAKER_01: Extremely tolerant.
- 1:28:12SPEAKER_01: In that I can even be there and wait for them to go and want it and then somebody's at the backdamnor.
- 1:28:19SPEAKER_01: But try it in Chicago.
- 1:28:20SPEAKER_01: Somebody will take a gun and shoot you.
- 1:28:22SPEAKER_01: Because you are disturbing the peace and the sanity of the person.
- 1:28:24SPEAKER_00: And as soon as it turns green.
- 1:28:26SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:28:26SPEAKER_00: You know, you can see the person's hand is on the horn.
- 1:28:29SPEAKER_00: As soon as it's green, boom.
- 1:28:30SPEAKER_01: And I think that another problem is our traffic system.
- 1:28:33SPEAKER_01: I think that the yellow changing to green, the section to be looked at.
- 1:28:36SPEAKER_01: Because elsewhere, I realize that when it's yellow, there's a bit of a little time before the green actually comes.
- 1:28:43SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:28:43SPEAKER_01: Do you realize how it's there?
- 1:28:44SPEAKER_01: The yellow, so if you're not careful, every day police will actually change that you're crossed it.
- 1:28:48SPEAKER_01: Because the yellow is so much like it comes as a flash and then the green has come.
- 1:28:51SPEAKER_01: Elsewhere, it's it gives you a realization.
- 1:28:53SPEAKER_01: So that in case you may have been in the middle somewhere because you are the same.
- 1:28:57SPEAKER_01: It gives you the time to go and order.
- 1:28:58SPEAKER_01: And then you so I go like ah, do we learn?
- 1:29:01SPEAKER_01: Because the thing is toes are you are driving and money is being taken from you, and it's everything three days time.
- 1:29:07SPEAKER_01: They come and tell you how much you pay this, what you owe, you pay two, and you are gone.
- 1:29:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, no human systems and all that.
- 1:29:13SPEAKER_01: And I believe we go to see all these things, but then when we come back, we don't want to implement them.
- 1:29:17SPEAKER_01: So that's another challenge.
- 1:29:18SPEAKER_01: That can we try to implement some of the things that was that can work for us?
- 1:29:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and another value because traffic offense alone is money.
- 1:29:25SPEAKER_01: Else with a lot of money.
- 1:29:26SPEAKER_01: If police will stop saying that you'll call police station, you know that thing mature.
- 1:29:30SPEAKER_01: Let's go to the police station.
- 1:29:32SPEAKER_01: What is this waste of time?
- 1:29:33SPEAKER_00: You know, I was I was amazed to find out that it's actually a law that you're just supposed to pay.
- 1:29:38SPEAKER_00: Yes, the amount that you're supposed to pay for every traffic offense.
- 1:29:42SPEAKER_01: And we will make so much money rich in this country in that because the point is that, and the more you often yourself we check, hey, you are weighing 2000, you are careful now.
- 1:29:48SPEAKER_01: You'll be very careful because you don't have the money like that to be paying.
- 1:29:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so once they tell you, we can now you've integrated the insurance side that you know we can now buy your car when we scan your car and you're able to tell that you have insured or not.
- 1:29:58SPEAKER_01: It's the same thing.
- 1:29:59SPEAKER_01: Connect these things to people's bank accounts and all that.
- 1:30:02SPEAKER_01: When they commit offense, because you can tell an offense is there and all that.
- 1:30:05SPEAKER_01: Because look, I was going to park a car and I didn't know that there was a I need to scan to park the car, so I thought that I could just park his okay.
- 1:30:12SPEAKER_01: But when I park his and I went there, I didn't see anybody, but a few minutes I saw some guy came coming and checking all the car.
- 1:30:16SPEAKER_01: I'm clean, ping, ping, ping.
- 1:30:18SPEAKER_01: He said he's checking those who have not scanned to pay for$10 to come there because then he will then they will come and pay$300 and they'll tow their car and all that.
- 1:30:26SPEAKER_01: Why are you not having a lot of tool systems so that where cars are even parked?
- 1:30:29SPEAKER_01: You know, people get their cars for they leave it crowd, who's told them and let them be in your place and then come and pay 300 and take the money and go.
- 1:30:36SPEAKER_01: Because you can make more money from this offend of offenders.
- 1:30:39SPEAKER_01: That's the thing.
- 1:30:40SPEAKER_01: We need to start looking, be intentional about making money.
- 1:30:42SPEAKER_01: So when you make more, then you can now be able to develop the country because when you don't have enough and you have to depend on the tax of maybe the uh companies, if companies are collapsing, you're not getting taxed.
- 1:30:50SPEAKER_01: Companies will always swerve you from your taxes because the fence is that sometimes they look at what you're doing, it's not enough for them.
- 1:30:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so now go around and see where you can make your money from.
- 1:30:57SPEAKER_01: Whereas you're correcting the system and still instilling discipline in the people, but you're collecting money from that.
- 1:31:03SPEAKER_01: So we need to you know, we need to bring it down here, some of the things down here, and then integrate it and then see how to go because you drive on the streets and the indiscipline is because there are no cameras, even when they are cameras now.
- 1:31:15SPEAKER_01: The camera is just to arrest you on traffic when you pass it through the red because there are times that they have the cameras there, but the time realize when you go to that's where you can use arrest.
- 1:31:23SPEAKER_01: We use it to arrest other things like maybe under offenses and all that.
- 1:31:26SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, they're interested in uh just the crossing of the red line, and then and after that, maybe uh you have to now take you to police where you waste the whole two hours and and all that, and then police will do his face through street when it's talking.
- 1:31:41SPEAKER_01: We can't even become we should be friends to ourselves.
- 1:31:43SPEAKER_01: This is what you have done, it's offense.
- 1:31:45SPEAKER_01: So we need to look at how to make money from our offenses, yeah.
- 1:31:49SPEAKER_01: And we can integrate it's a matter of technology.
- 1:31:51SPEAKER_01: If we are very fair to ourselves, we don't say we use two billion to do a certain technology, whereas it can be we know very well we can do it, but you know, though we use two billion to do a certain technology because somebody for it's on somebody for it before we get there, yeah.
- 1:32:03SPEAKER_01: The level of greetum that we need to control it and be careful about it.
- 1:32:06SPEAKER_01: So a policies is a is a it's a it's a it's a it's a it's it's on its own, uh okay.
- 1:32:12SPEAKER_01: It's just that the people that get in training what they turn the whole thing into yeah, so if we have leadership is a like this man said, it's a course and all that things like if we can get leadership in charge of things and they are doing the right thing, we may not even face some of the problems that uh we face in this country.
- 1:32:27SPEAKER_01: So let's be interested.
- 1:32:28SPEAKER_01: We will travel and we learn something, we should bring it to it.
- 1:32:30SPEAKER_00: Implement it, implement it here, I want you to do something for me.
- 1:32:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you have this ritual, I want you to look in that camera.
- 1:32:36SPEAKER_00: Imagine a young person out there watching you who's struggling right now and is trying to figure out how to succeed.
- 1:32:45SPEAKER_00: What mindset do you think you can help give this person that will shape them to become the successful person that they need to be?
- 1:32:53SPEAKER_00: So, this is this is the thing I'll tell you.
- 1:32:54SPEAKER_01: Fillworth is not the opposite of success, it's an inherent component on the journey of success.
- 1:33:00SPEAKER_01: What it means is that you fail, but it doesn't mean it's the end.
- 1:33:04SPEAKER_01: So understand that when fill war comes, you are only you are just on learning some ways, or you are either learning new ways to be able to make it.
- 1:33:11SPEAKER_01: The reason why you are sitting on the chair, you are sitting, somebody made a chair.
- 1:33:14SPEAKER_01: He might have even destroyed it, he might have done the chair several times before you got it right, just like the ball.
- 1:33:18SPEAKER_01: So somebody did it a thousand times.
- 1:33:20SPEAKER_01: I don't know why you did it ten times and you think it's enough.
- 1:33:22SPEAKER_01: You still have to go on.
- 1:33:23SPEAKER_01: And nobody owes you a dime.
- 1:33:25SPEAKER_01: Let me just tell you one thing: nobody owes you a dime.
- 1:33:27SPEAKER_01: Your mother doesn't owe you, uncle doesn't owe you.
- 1:33:28SPEAKER_01: You owe yourself a responsibility to make it.
- 1:33:31SPEAKER_01: Ownership mentality, in that keep in your mind that you must have ownership mentality, whether you are a worker or not, you work with somebody's business, you think you're doing a favor for the person.
- 1:33:39SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:33:39SPEAKER_01: When you groom yourself, that everything that it's between your space, you have an ownership mentality and you have what we call responsibility, where you understand you must be responsible for what you have and what you stop blaming your tools and blaming things for your own failures and all that.
- 1:33:54SPEAKER_01: Accept responsibility and know that you don't have time on earth.
- 1:33:57SPEAKER_01: You see, that's one thing you should understand because tomorrow is not promised.
- 1:34:01SPEAKER_01: So work like there's no tomorrow, but live like there's tomorrow.
- 1:34:05SPEAKER_01: What it means is that you're working, working, working, working because you don't know whether tomorrow is coming.
- 1:34:10SPEAKER_01: But when you are leaving, just leave like there's tomorrow as well.
- 1:34:13SPEAKER_00: Thank you, thank you, thank you so much.
- 1:34:15SPEAKER_00: I should say that I really applaud your tenacity.
- 1:34:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I like your creativity, and I think you're actually doing a lot for the country and for Africa now.
- 1:34:25SPEAKER_00: Anything that you ever need to help boost you, you know, if we can rely on, let's say, the right people to support, at least we can always form communities where we support each other, especially fellow Richards can always thank you, thank you so much for coming.
- 1:34:41SPEAKER_01: Thank you very much.
- 1:34:42SPEAKER_00: And to you watching, I really hope this conversation has been exciting, engaging, and has brought you closer to being the mastermind that I know you deserve to be.
- 1:34:54SPEAKER_00: Thanks for watching throughout this video.
- 1:34:56SPEAKER_00: The fact that you're still here tells me you're somebody who is dedicated to learning and you see things through to the end.
- 1:35:03SPEAKER_00: Now, let me ask this favor of you don't just watch, don't just listen and don't just take in what we've said.
- 1:35:10SPEAKER_00: You need to practice everything that I'm trying to teach you into your real life because the journey of becoming a mastermind is not just about knowledge, but it's also about putting it into practice.
- 1:35:22SPEAKER_00: And let's grow the community, let's build a community of masterminds who are ready to shape the world into what we know it should be.
- 1:35:30SPEAKER_00: Of course, share this, like it, and let me know in the comments if there's anything that you want me to talk about, if there's any guests that you would want me to have a conversation with so we can grow together.
