- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the three OT where we talk all
- 0:05things Major League Baseball. Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate
- 0:10Reyes. It all starts right now.
- 0:15Oh, welcome back to the three OT presented by Chinook Cedars
- 0:18Episode 6 O 5. I'll be your host, Kyle Cordon.
- 0:20I'm here with my Co host Nate Reyes.
- 0:22Nate. Hello friends KCJB how how are
- 0:30we where? You want to start?
- 0:34You want to start with the fact that I already want to RIP my TV
- 0:39off the wall watching the same three commercials on MLBTV every
- 0:44game these days. Or do you want to start at the
- 0:48Red Sox team store selling Yankees 27 Worlds World
- 0:53Championship merch inside the team store for the Yankees
- 0:56series? Where do you want to start?
- 1:01The commercials hit so much different during a loss, too.
- 1:05Like when you're losing and your team's not playing well, you
- 1:09hate whatever is being advertised.
- 1:11Like it doesn't. Matter, I tell you what it could
- 1:13be. Like a Children's Hospital
- 1:14commercial and you're like, I don't care.
- 1:18I tell you what I tell you what I know.
- 1:20One thing's for sure, I'm never going to be a truest customer.
- 1:23I can guarantee you that you can take your commercial and shove
- 1:27it through it. Unbelievable.
- 1:30Oh boy. It's the same 3.
- 1:33And, and, and it's not even like a quarterly thing where it's
- 1:36like, oh, we'll, we'll, we'll switch up to commercials once
- 1:39the summer hits. Nope, It's what you got now is
- 1:43what you're going to get. So hope you like them.
- 1:46Yeah, it's fair. And they're, I feel like they're
- 1:49louder than usual too. They're a lot louder.
- 1:53I don't know what's going on with like the Yankees broadcast.
- 1:56I don't, I don't know if it's like a different microphone or
- 1:58something that they're using. But when that you know, that
- 2:01like the stadium background, the DJ's like playing stuff the like
- 2:05it'll bring that level down, but it also brings like the
- 2:08broadcaster level down. So then I'm like sitting there
- 2:11cranking it up because it's always loud.
- 2:13And I'm like, I want to hear the game.
- 2:15And then, you know, like a Kia commercial comes on and I'm like
- 2:21sold out, dude. Like I'm my, my ears are done.
- 2:24It's it's interesting, man, MOBTV.
- 2:28Hey, while we feel free to spread the love on on your
- 2:31advertising. Deals.
- 2:33While we're on the subject of game broadcast, Tip of the cap,
- 2:39I listened to the Royals radio broadcast today 'cause it I was
- 2:44doing a little little painting around the house.
- 2:47I was like, well, I can't watch anything, so let me throw the
- 2:49radio. I was working OK.
- 2:54I was just doing some touch ups. OK, let's do some cut insurance.
- 2:59Anyway, I was like, let me throw the Royals broadcast on because
- 3:03I don't want to listen to the Orioles broadcast.
- 3:04No disrespect, but I was like, let me let me mix up a little
- 3:07bit. I I thoroughly enjoyed the
- 3:10Royals radio broadcast. And then a thing that they do
- 3:12that I like, and I don't know if it was intentional or, or I
- 3:16mean, if there's a Royals fan out there and, and they know,
- 3:19let me know. But the thing they do is they'll
- 3:22go, pun intended, they'll go radio silent when the PA
- 3:28announcer introduces the hitter. So you all outside.
- 3:33I mean, if they didn't do that, I'm sure they would tell you
- 3:36anyway, but you never, you never, you're never sitting
- 3:40there wondering who's up because you hear it come through the the
- 3:43system. And I was like, Hey, that's a
- 3:44nice touch. And they just that they put on a
- 3:46nice, clean, family friendly program and I'm like, I, I might
- 3:50be tuning into some more Royals games.
- 3:52I got to be. Honest, I don't know if I've
- 3:53ever really dabbled into radio broadcasters too much.
- 3:57You know dude, it's so it's baseball on radio is so
- 4:01underrated. I I thoroughly recommend.
- 4:05I'll give it a shit. I recommend.
- 4:07I'll give it a shot. Friend of the pod, Dave Sims is
- 4:09is our is our radio guy now. So sure is.
- 4:13Yeah, I'm going to have to. I might, I might give that a
- 4:15shot. All right, I'll try it out.
- 4:18I heard it best, you know, from back in the day when, when they
- 4:22played all the games during the daytime.
- 4:24There wasn't night games and things like that.
- 4:27They said it was the IT was the soundtrack, Yeah.
- 4:33Back before the Cubs played night games at Wrigley.
- 4:36They said it was the sound. What was it the the soundtrack
- 4:39to American Society or something like that, like whatever it is,
- 4:45because it was just always on. Like you went to the store and
- 4:48the game was on. You went to the deli, the game
- 4:50was on. You know what I mean?
- 4:51Better times, better times back then.
- 4:54Speaking of a friend of the pod, Lindsay, who we had on Sunday
- 5:00Clubhouse this past weekend, she made a great point, she said.
- 5:05Or no, It was a joint point, if I remember, between you and
- 5:08Lindsay, correct? Love a good joint point, but I
- 5:10don't know what we're talking about.
- 5:12About nostalgia. Oh yeah, dude, so she said was.
- 5:18She the one that said millennials are the most
- 5:21nostalgic and then you said baseball fans are the.
- 5:24It was a three pronged point because then I combined the two
- 5:28and I said I think baseball millennial, millennial baseball
- 5:33fans are the most nostalgic people in the history of the
- 5:36world. So I think I think radio will be
- 5:39right up your alley. I don't think, I don't think
- 5:41we're wrong. I I think that I think that take
- 5:46carries quite a bit of water. All right, Nate, this week you
- 5:51got to listen to a ball game on the radio.
- 5:54Yeah, do you? I challenge Nate and I challenge
- 5:57everyone listening and or watching to to consume a game
- 6:01via the radio broadcast let. Me see and.
- 6:04Bonus points if you like. I'm assuming you would do that
- 6:09for for your favorite team, but bonus points if you dabble into
- 6:13another radio booths. Broadcast.
- 6:16Oh I'm definitely checking out a Royals broadcast after that.
- 6:20Yeah, there's a, there's a, an older gentleman.
- 6:22I'm I'm guessing based on the the the.
- 6:25Danny Matthews. The warmth, the warmth of his
- 6:29voice and the raspy, the raspy warmth of his voice.
- 6:32I'm, I'm assuming is an older man, but man was giving me very
- 6:36like Vin Scully storytelling. Like, let me just let me just
- 6:40give you some soft jazz for your ears in the form of a baseball
- 6:46game. It was very much that vibe.
- 6:48And I was like, this man could put me to sleep this afternoon.
- 6:51I think the early games tomorrow I could I could pull that off.
- 6:54Braves Nationals play at 10:00 my time.
- 6:58These are those radio booths. Any good?
- 7:02You could probably avoid gnats. I can't say anything about the
- 7:04Braves. I'm not sure.
- 7:06And then Brewers, Tigers, Phillies, Cubs.
- 7:10I I'll try it out. I'll definitely try it out,
- 7:13yeah. Like a Cubs bounce back and
- 7:15forth. Like a Cubs 1 might be nice.
- 7:18I think so. So Danny Matthews, I was looking
- 7:20it up while you were telling the story.
- 7:21Danny Matthews looks like the radio guy for the.
- 7:24Or the Royals? Is that is he an older guy?
- 7:26Yeah, he looks like it, Yeah. Yeah, that's probably him.
- 7:29Considering it says that he's been announcing, Oh my goodness.
- 7:35Wait a minute. He has been announcing since the
- 7:38club's inception in 1969, making him one of four announcers in
- 7:43MLB history to broadcast for the same team.
- 7:47What 50 put some. Respect on it.
- 7:49What's his foot? What's his name?
- 7:50You. Say Denny Matthews.
- 7:51Denny Matthews, Tip of the cap. I'm a big Denny Matthews guy.
- 7:5558th season with the club. Yikes.
- 7:59There you go. That's crazy.
- 8:01Speaking of the the broadcast stuff I had, I threw the I don't
- 8:06remember what. I think it was the Royals.
- 8:09What were they playing? The Marlins?
- 8:10Who's playing the Marlins today? No Royals playing the Orioles.
- 8:13It was Cardinals, Cardinals, Marlins.
- 8:17And I just like threw it on, put it on mute while I'm working and
- 8:22like for like 1/2 hour I look up without even watching.
- 8:26And I realized that the Marlins had like technical difficulties
- 8:30and they just came up with a screen and they like weren't
- 8:33showing the game at all. Like it's just the most Marlin
- 8:35thing ever. Did they play the radio
- 8:38broadcast over time I. Don't know.
- 8:39I don't know, mute the whole time, but it was like, that's
- 8:42such a tough look, like, sure. And dozens of fans were
- 8:46disappointed anyway. Another thought on the on the
- 8:50the broadcast topic, Remember we were watching was it on We're
- 8:54doing our was that the first Sunday clubhouse when the Sox
- 8:58game just went haywire and it went to dugout Cam?
- 9:01Yeah, yeah. Is that what it was?
- 9:03So I didn't realize it, but apparently if you would have
- 9:07waited that out, you would have realized more.
- 9:09So I was speaking to myself. If I would have waited it out, I
- 9:12would have realized that that camera isn't a fix.
- 9:16I mean, it's fixed in terms of location, but it it can pan a
- 9:19little bit, which changed my whole perception on the the fix
- 9:24the on the dugout Cam when when they were having technical
- 9:27difficulties and they were stuck on that view.
- 9:29I just thought it was stuck on what you could see side of the
- 9:33frame to the other side of the frame.
- 9:34But it it was able to move and I'm like, I wouldn't mind.
- 9:37I mean, I could watch a game from the dugout.
- 9:39I wouldn't care. That'd be kind of nice.
- 9:41Do you think there'll be a day where we could like the same way
- 9:43you can change broadcast, you can adjust what camera you want
- 9:47to be on? It's only a matter of time.
- 9:49So that's that's got to be this easy money maker.
- 9:52Yeah, they did this some years. I don't know how often they do
- 9:55it, but they did it. I remember some years ago when
- 9:58with MLBTV, you could watch a playoff game, like a post season
- 10:03game, but you couldn't watch the like the Fox broadcast of it.
- 10:08Instead you had like 3 or 4 different cameras that you could
- 10:11just watch from that camera, you could watch the game live.
- 10:15No, no audio, like just stadium audio, no broadcasting and only
- 10:21the camera that you picked. And there was like 3-4 different
- 10:24cameras that you could choose from.
- 10:26But yeah, that'd be sweet. I guess I just didn't realize
- 10:30that that MLBTV was doing anything during the post season.
- 10:33I don't remember when they did that but and it might have only
- 10:37been for certain games. I I do that and the sorry last
- 10:43thing was I I like what the Apple TV did that, you know,
- 10:46like an inning of just like just baseball sound and the and the
- 10:50broadcast just turns off and all you hear the stadium sounds.
- 10:53I would love if that was an option full time.
- 10:57I would do that. I would pay.
- 10:59I would pay, I would pay extra money per year for for that
- 11:05experience. Yeah, so simple as that.
- 11:10Speaking of just pure baseball, I said that I mean that we're
- 11:15just talking about the viewing experience at this point.
- 11:20I saw a tweet from the Omaha Storm Chasers, the minor league
- 11:25club, and they're doing which I, I mean, it's nothing new.
- 11:31I I've seen other teams do it, but I it was just one of the
- 11:33ones that I've seen for this season coming up.
- 11:37But they're doing a nothing but baseball night.
- 11:40So they're doing no promotions, no music, no ad reads, no
- 11:45videos, just baseball. Tuesday, May 12th not sick,
- 11:52although I hate how they led the tweet.
- 11:54They said do you hate to see on field promotions and fun at the
- 11:58ballpark? No, I like.
- 12:01I like fun at the ballpark. I kind of hate them.
- 12:07I just, I just like, I just like baseball, I guess.
- 12:10I don't know. I mean, I don't know.
- 12:12Yeah, the promotions department's just like, do you
- 12:15like that we're not going to get paid tonight?
- 12:18TuneIn Tuesday, May 12th None of us are getting paid so you can
- 12:25watch baseball the boring way. We'll be outside the stadium
- 12:29picketing, but enjoy the game and Dollar Dogs.
- 12:33Yeah, yeah, we're not whipping T-shirts at you through a cannon
- 12:37tonight. It's just baseball.
- 12:44No dogs crapping on the on the field.
- 12:47The dog boy. Just baseball.
- 12:52The dog boy. Yeah, I saw this video.
- 12:54I don't even know what level it was, but it was like a could
- 12:57have been indie ball. I have no idea.
- 12:59But like the the dog bat boy, the golden retriever that just
- 13:03decides like gets right to the bat and then there's like a.
- 13:06Bat dog not a dog boy. What?
- 13:08What is a dog boy that sounds like a dog boy?
- 13:11That. Sounds like a failed superhero.
- 13:13That'd be a full. Superhero.
- 13:15I was thinking like bat boy and then dog, but anyway he like
- 13:19bolts to the like right in front of second base on the grass and
- 13:23just drops a big hefty 1. I did see that and then takes
- 13:27off again. It's just like like an 8 minute
- 13:31delay in the game 'cause this dog is just so undertrained.
- 13:35Oh man, it's a biohazard out there behind the bag.
- 13:38You got to clean it up. Hey, Speaking of taking a dump
- 13:41on the baseball field, let's talk about the Mets coming into
- 13:45today. 12 game losing streak. We're really hoping the Twins
- 13:52can pull out some magic here going into the 9th Got half an
- 13:56inning to go, but let's talk about it regardless.
- 14:00Regardless the outcome tonight, it's been it's been nothing but
- 14:04a dumpster fire in in Queens the last well, really the whole
- 14:08season, but specifically the last 12 games as they have lost
- 14:12all of them. So what?
- 14:17What? So I I get a little.
- 14:21Giddy when the Mets are the laughing stock of baseball.
- 14:25And I don't know why. It's just, it's something that
- 14:28that really, it really tickles me.
- 14:30I don't know why. It's it's what we all want.
- 14:34It's what we all need. So real quick, before we get
- 14:39into the numbers, am I, am I just rewriting history, Am I
- 14:45misremembering? Do Mets fans run their mouths
- 14:49when the team is doing well? I feel like that's been the
- 14:52case. But then I thought about it and
- 14:54I'm like, or are the Mets just, or are Mets fans just always in
- 14:59a state of despair and hopelessness?
- 15:03And I couldn't remember which one it was because I feel like
- 15:06I've, I've remembered periods of time over the last, call it five
- 15:10years where Mets fans have started to feel themselves a
- 15:13little bit. And I'm, I'm not a fan of that.
- 15:17Because of 2023 post season 2024 When did I come out for the for
- 15:30the Orioles Rangers series? That was 23. 23 jeez man, just
- 15:35flying by. I think it was 23 when they they
- 15:39had a little run in the postseason, didn't they?
- 15:41I don't remember. That was the last time I
- 15:45remember any Mets fans being somewhat confident.
- 15:50Oh, oh, oh, it was the same year I saw, because I saw a tweet
- 15:54about it today and I remembered it was the year they they made
- 15:56it to the NLCS. It was the wasn't that the Jose
- 15:59Iglesias OMG year. Was that 24?
- 16:02I thought it. Was 23, Was that the same year?
- 16:07I think it was. Yeah, they were they were
- 16:10starting to they were starting to feel themselves a little bit.
- 16:11And I'm just I'm I'm not not a fan of it because 24 why just
- 16:17read the room. That's fans.
- 16:18Like just know what your team is.
- 16:20This is what your team is. This is exactly what you are.
- 16:23I would say there's probably a a couple different scenarios.
- 16:27I mean, I, I think like most fans, it depends on what fan
- 16:30you're talking to. There are some that are in a,
- 16:33they'll blow it, don't worry. And you know, they're just
- 16:35already traded. And then there are some which I
- 16:38would say like if the Mets are doing good, you know how long
- 16:42that might or might not last. I say give them a little bit of
- 16:45freedom to talk a little bit. They've earned it.
- 16:49That's true too. You know what I mean?
- 16:53But it's also, it's just like, it's like the that, you know,
- 16:56that little neighborhood dog that barks where you're just
- 16:58like, I'm not affected by you. I'm not worried about you.
- 17:02You know what I mean? Like, even even when you're
- 17:05feeling strong and tough. Like we all know the truth.
- 17:11I I could be more glued to this. Let's go twins, man.
- 17:16I'm a huge, I'm a huge Twins guy, always have been.
- 17:21I was rooting for that game last night.
- 17:22Louder than the Yankee Sox game, I promise you.
- 17:28And somehow you just knew that was going to be the outcome, but
- 17:32you felt it. The stars that you saw Devin
- 17:34Williams, you saw us, Devin Williams take the bump and
- 17:36you're like this. We know how this ends.
- 17:39I can't say the same with Luke Weaver on the hill, although it
- 17:42doesn't sound like he's been all that hot this year.
- 17:45But if if it were Devin Williams, we would know what's
- 17:48happening. But let's, let's it's alright.
- 17:52There's still two more outs. You got to hey Clubhouse again.
- 17:58The last three are the hardest to get.
- 17:59You know you. Got to believe.
- 18:01Especially if you've lost 12 in a row.
- 18:04But let's let's talk about let's talk about the numbers.
- 18:08The their longest losing streak since 2002.
- 18:14The losing streak of 12, by the way, puts them in the territory
- 18:18of almost all but guaranteed to miss the postseason, because
- 18:23none of the 138 teams in Major League history who have lost
- 18:30twelve straight made the postseason.
- 18:33So don't count on seeing the Mets in October this year.
- 18:38I'm I still have somewhat faith because that was one of my hot
- 18:41takes, was that it's going to get so bad that Mendoza gets
- 18:46fired and Juan Soto requests a trade.
- 18:50Did you add that caveat with Mendoza?
- 18:53Mendoza gets fired, Juan Soto requests a trade, doesn't get
- 18:56traded, and they still make the post season.
- 18:59So we're off to a good start. I feel like I'm really laying
- 19:03the groundwork for my hot takes. I'm glad.
- 19:06I'm glad you brought up the name Juan Soto, because he made
- 19:08headlines today, They asked. They asked him as in in
- 19:13preparation of his return to the lineup after being on the shelf.
- 19:17They said, you know, have you have you talked to and or
- 19:22encourage your teammates over this stretch?
- 19:25And he said they've mostly been on the road.
- 19:26I haven't really talked to them. So let me just.
- 19:31Go ahead, hear their numbers. Let me just go ahead and, and,
- 19:37and share my thought real quick and then I'll let you guys just
- 19:41have fun with it because it sounds like maybe you're, you're
- 19:43more strongly opinionated on the matter than I am.
- 19:45But I, I don't know, I feel like this, you know, I've said, I've
- 19:51said thing, I've I've said what I've said about Juan Soto in the
- 19:54past. That's that's well documented,
- 19:56however, and, and the ripe old age of 32, trying to be a little
- 20:01more fair on things and and call things the way I see him.
- 20:06I feel like this was just an attempt to create a story out of
- 20:09nothing to be honest with you. Like you should he, should he
- 20:12have been in contact with his teammates over this kid given
- 20:15that he's he's. Being paid a trillion dollars.
- 20:19Yeah. And the fact that, I mean, what
- 20:22else does he really have to do being on the shelf?
- 20:24No disrespect, but like, is it the worst thing that he wasn't
- 20:31really in contact with him while they were out of town and and he
- 20:34obviously was not with the team? I no, I don't think, I don't
- 20:38think that's a massive deal. I think this is just trying to
- 20:40kick kick the team while they're down, trying to dig the hole a
- 20:43little deeper. I don't know.
- 20:45That's just that's just my take. I don't.
- 20:46Tell me if you guys feel differently about the matter.
- 20:48Yeah, for sure. That's definitely.
- 20:49I feel like the reporter probably knew the answer before
- 20:52they asked the question too, which makes it even better, you
- 20:55know? Yeah, I'm all yeah, I'm here for
- 20:58the drama. Don't get me wrong, I love, I
- 21:00love the pettiness. However, I just, I feel like
- 21:03this was a scenario where it was like maybe we could have, you
- 21:06know, done without this. Bro, it's just not a leader.
- 21:09We've all, we've all known that. We've all known that he's not a
- 21:12leader. He's not about to reach out.
- 21:16It's just, it's not surprising at all.
- 21:21Soft. It's just a soft organization.
- 21:25All right, let's let's take a brief intermission for this
- 21:29final out. 1-2 Count 2. See if we can get some all
- 21:33Nate's ahead of us, I guess. So I guess Nate will know first.
- 21:41Yeah, the numbers have not been good.
- 21:43They've in In 10 of those 12 losses, they've scored three or
- 21:49three runs or fewer with runners in scoring position, also known
- 21:53as risk. He's safe.
- 21:57Come on. Come on.
- 21:59Let's go baby. There's still hope.
- 22:04Oh baby, give me a two run bomb. What if like, is it what if like
- 22:08Josh Bell is coming up? Is it Josh Bell?
- 22:11I think he might be. Tell me it's Josh Bell.
- 22:15That's such a good 90 too. That's a great 90 boba shet.
- 22:20I mean no disrespect. Boba Shet playing short now
- 22:23again. Yeah, Lindor come out of the
- 22:25game early. Yeah, that's interesting.
- 22:29Soda really thought they had it in the bags.
- 22:31Yeah. Oh, come on.
- 22:37No, Joshua's on deck. Oh.
- 22:39We got a pinch runner though, I. Was going to get real excited
- 22:44anyway. They've sucked.
- 22:47Runners in scoring position they've been, they've hit 161.
- 22:50Devin Williams, as you mentioned, has been horrendous.
- 22:53I don't think he retired. I don't think he retired a
- 22:56hitter last night. Yeah, I don't know.
- 23:01I. He blew the save on whatever
- 23:07night that was. And then last night, I don't
- 23:10think he retired hitter when when the Twins had that
- 23:13comeback. I think he walked the bases
- 23:15loaded then gave up a knock and then another one.
- 23:17Didn't he hit a guy? I thought he hit a guy or 20.
- 23:24Yeah. And offensively they've just
- 23:25been Doo Doo as. Byron Buxton.
- 23:28I will forgive Byron Buxton for all of his USA, Team USA woes if
- 23:33he comes up clutch. Byron Buxton swinging not have
- 23:37bad this year to start the year by the way, I think in fact does
- 23:40he have does he have a a bomb tonight that I see.
- 23:44I need another one right here. Fireboxing.
- 23:48Come on guys. I kind of like the dreads.
- 23:50Yeah, I like them. It's good look.
- 23:54I also think I like the the pants down look as opposed to
- 23:57the the socks up look. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:01Is that Grady Sizemore, coach of first base?
- 24:03Who's? Sure is, yeah.
- 24:05Is it really? Yeah, I I heard that on the
- 24:07broadcast the other day. Sorry folks, this isn't a This
- 24:14isn't a clubhouse episode. This is.
- 24:16Well, I mean, this is this. This is history here.
- 24:19This is history. The The Twins gone for
- 24:22consecutive comeback wins, I mean.
- 24:24Oh, Byron, No. Byron, come on, we know you know
- 24:29what's at stake here, but try to be a team player here, guy.
- 24:33This is bigger than the WBC. This this is can't.
- 24:39Can't Kyle can't agree with that.
- 24:41This is the World Series. Actually, that can't because the
- 24:45Mets are playing, so it's got to be something else.
- 24:49This would be the least watched World Series of all time. 00
- 24:53Mets. Twins.
- 24:55That's a fun exercise. What would could we come up
- 24:59with? What the least watched?
- 25:01Yeah, it couldn't be Mets just because of the market.
- 25:03What would? What would the?
- 25:05Least watched you have you have to combine like team.
- 25:10Marlins race. Marlins.
- 25:11Twins. There it is.
- 25:16They went gotta be kidding me. Luke Weaver looks like. 12.
- 25:29Luke Weaver looks like his dog was in an accident and he just
- 25:34found out that he's still alive. Yeah.
- 25:39I mean, talk about a weight off your shoulders.
- 25:43Look how many smiles we see on these.
- 25:48I think it's more of a relief, right?
- 25:50Oh, for sure, yeah. I mean, look, we can sit here
- 25:54and dog on the Mets all day, but.
- 25:56Streak starts again tomorrow, so we get a.
- 26:02So back to the comments like. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold
- 26:05on, hold on. Real last thing we can.
- 26:06We can sit here and dog on the Mets all we want, but the
- 26:12reality of it is and and no team or players immune to it.
- 26:19When when you finally get the monkey off your back like that,
- 26:22that I mean that that's whether it's a win loss thing, whether
- 26:27it's a a hit list streak kind of thing, no matter what it is.
- 26:31That's a very relatable feeling. And you know what?
- 26:34I can, I can be, I can be a grown man and say that while I'm
- 26:40not a Mets fan and I hope that the losing streak picks back up
- 26:43tomorrow, I'm happy for them in this moment.
- 26:47Because I tell you what, there's nothing more frustrating than
- 26:50when baseball has got you bent over and it's just beating you
- 26:54to the ground. It's just curb stomping you in
- 26:57the face. So you know what?
- 27:00Go pop some champagne, Mets. Go, go enjoy the night.
- 27:06And then, you know, streak starts back up tomorrow.
- 27:09Anyway, JB, go ahead. Yeah, just back to those
- 27:12comments. I mean, how many times have we
- 27:16watched interviews and just ho hum, you know exactly what
- 27:21they're going to say. You want to hear the the
- 27:24specific things and it's boring and you're like, I wish somebody
- 27:28would just come out of that like predetermined answer.
- 27:36This is one of those moments where you're like, why couldn't
- 27:39you just give me the why couldn't you just give me the
- 27:42statement I expected? You don't you don't say I
- 27:46haven't talked to them. You know what I mean?
- 27:49Like, yeah, how do you respond that?
- 27:51Guy doesn't care. Yeah, I mean, but in the same
- 27:55way, like we, we can't be, we can't be hypocritical in that
- 27:59sense where it's like we want guys to just tell us what's on
- 28:02their mind and not give us the the PR school answer.
- 28:06And Juan Soto time and time again chooses, chooses to speak
- 28:12his mind and that's what he did. So I, I can't sit here and be
- 28:15like, well, what are you doing? And then in the same same token
- 28:19be like, well you should have said something else.
- 28:22Didn't he also say something like he's out 10 games?
- 28:26I think so. But like, didn't he also say
- 28:30something about how like he wasn't real?
- 28:33Well, he wasn't real concerned about the losing streak too.
- 28:37Like there was something like, oh, you know, we'll be OK or
- 28:39what It like that sort of a thing.
- 28:41And it's like, I think your fans would probably want you to be
- 28:44concerned about it. Like, we need to get we need to
- 28:46fix this. You know what I mean?
- 28:47Lindor had a lot of those quotes.
- 28:50Yeah, but Lindor was there saying this is, you know, this
- 28:53is on us. This is what, you know, we're
- 28:54doing this and, and, and whatever and, and we got to fix
- 28:57it. And and then Soto's like, no,
- 28:59we're all right. Yeah, but you know that those
- 29:04guys like they they know they're supposed they they need to be
- 29:07winning games. So them coming out publicly
- 29:11being like, you know, we're really concerned or like, hey,
- 29:14yeah, I'm, I'm trying to pick these guys up by by shooting
- 29:16them a couple text messages or little kissy face goodnight.
- 29:20Make sure they're going to bed got their head on straight each
- 29:23night. Like I, I, I don't know, like
- 29:27the, the players, I mean the fans.
- 29:28Because he's going to request a trade soon, that's why.
- 29:31Right. Yeah, He didn't bother getting
- 29:33their numbers. Let's let's look elsewhere
- 29:38around the National League because the American League is a
- 29:41waste. The Braves.
- 29:44Are the Braves back? I think the Braves are back.
- 29:49Braves look good, man. Braves look real good, win
- 29:51tonight. They're eight and two in their
- 29:53last 10-17 and eight on the year.
- 29:56The only team in the National League East with a winning
- 29:59record right now, so that's fun. That's a rough division.
- 30:04Yeah, I mean, the National League elsewhere looks, looks
- 30:09all right. But yeah, that that National
- 30:12League, he's looking a little, a little shaky.
- 30:15Wow. I don't think I realized how bad
- 30:16the Phillies were. Yeah, what is that?
- 30:19This is. The first time I'm seeing this,
- 30:22they have now lost seven in a row.
- 30:26What happened? Cubs have won seven in a row,
- 30:30going for 8:00. Thoughts, thoughts on, you know,
- 30:40actually, let's give me your thoughts on those three teams.
- 30:43So I mean, those are those are three teams I think a lot of
- 30:46people had at the start of the year, as you know, teams that
- 30:49would would be threats later in the season, Braves proving to be
- 30:53as much Cubs playing playing very well as we've talked about
- 30:58and the Phillies looking like shell themselves.
- 31:01So we think we think we have a contender pretender situation
- 31:10here. We think the the Phillies will
- 31:12will right the ship. Do we think the Braves are just?
- 31:18The Braves are hard to tell, man, because like on paper, I
- 31:24don't know. Like on paper, I don't know,
- 31:27starting rotation I has been spectacular.
- 31:33I believe Strider just made a a rehab start.
- 31:39I believe so he's on his way back.
- 31:42I mean, there's, there's a lot to be excited about.
- 31:44I'm just, I don't know how I feel about it.
- 31:47I on the offensive side. It seems like the names that
- 31:50didn't show up last year are producing a little bit more.
- 31:54They look deeper when you look at some of these names and I
- 31:58know that like he's our guy, like, you know, Yaz, I don't
- 32:03know if he'll, you know, end up playing A140150 games for them.
- 32:07You know, like, I don't know what his role will be.
- 32:10I don't know what this Dom Smith Atlanta version of Dom Smith is
- 32:15right now, but he's teeing off. Dubon looks good.
- 32:19Like they, they just, they, they seem like they're filling a lot
- 32:23of gaps and there's a lot of pieces that are playing OK.
- 32:28I mean, you run down the category of OPS and it it looks
- 32:32good. Drake Baldwin, I think needs to
- 32:34start to become a household name.
- 32:37But I think everyone needs to know that he is the truth and
- 32:41has probably already become a top five catcher in baseball.
- 32:45So they look good. Matt Olson's starting to hit
- 32:48again. Like, they just look deep.
- 32:53They look good. I'm not surprised.
- 32:58Good for them. That's all I got.
- 33:04I don't got anything else. The Iglesias just hit the shelf
- 33:09by the way too. So I think Suarez is now
- 33:12officially stepped into a closer role, which I feel like was
- 33:16going to happen anyway. Yeah, probably wasn't great
- 33:20timing for Iglesias, but Suarez closed it out tonight in DC.
- 33:24So yeah, the Cubs, we think, we think this, this style of play
- 33:37is sustainable. We think this this level of of
- 33:40success is sustainable. JB, this is your division man.
- 33:43Arguably the best division in. Baseball at the moment, so not.
- 33:47Not really, arguably. Boom tell them jbi mean it's not
- 33:52stay with your chest. I mean, it's pretty clear.
- 33:56I mean, for the month of April, we'll see at the end of the
- 33:59year, but for the month of April, that's without question.
- 34:02No, I mean, I they've been doing it in a way they've been doing
- 34:08it. They're running into the
- 34:10Phillies, who we'll talk about next, but they've been they've
- 34:14been scoring a lot of runs. And when Bregman came back, they
- 34:18kind of they kind of started moving in the right direction as
- 34:21far as wins and losses. But I mean, if you're if you're
- 34:24watching them right now, they don't they don't stop hitting
- 34:29thirty set plus 37 run differential coming into this
- 34:32game. I mean, it's it's not, not the
- 34:37Braves, right, But. Nico Horner's been their best
- 34:40guy this year, hasn't he? And, and you love to see that.
- 34:43I mean, a response to a big contract and coming out there, I
- 34:47think he's he, he's leading in RBI's or something.
- 34:49Yeah leading in RBI's he got 30 hits four O 2 on base at the
- 34:54moment it's already almost accumulated WAR total of 2 is at
- 34:591.9. And I mean like them.
- 35:06I feel like if if you're the Cubs and you get through April
- 35:11and halfway through May and you're like feeling good
- 35:15offensively and you're not like looking up the scoreboard and
- 35:18having to dig yourself out of a hole on some of those numbers.
- 35:21But just naturally, because it's difficult to play there at this
- 35:25time of year in Chicago, like you got to it's just got to
- 35:28catapult them into a good season.
- 35:30I they do look really good. Their bullpen looks really good
- 35:35like, and I think that was probably one of their weaker
- 35:39points coming in the season, wasn't it?
- 35:42I know the back end Palencia is nuts but like everywhere else it
- 35:44was kind of some question marks but they just look good through
- 35:47and through. I think Palencia, did he just
- 35:50get hurt? Did he?
- 35:53I think so. And he's been lights out, but I
- 35:59feel like I saw that he's going, he's getting another, he's
- 36:05getting another opinion. It's been an oblique and then
- 36:11it's out of moving into something else.
- 36:13But yeah, I mean, the starting rotation was a big question.
- 36:15Horton went down and it was like, oh, how are they going to
- 36:18be able to handle this until, you know, you can start seeing
- 36:21guys like Steel or whatever show up.
- 36:23And it seems like everybody that gets the ball for him doesn't
- 36:25care that they're not supposed to be good.
- 36:27They just at least keeping them in games, you know what I mean?
- 36:31Yeah. So.
- 36:32Evan not a looks like he's kind of starting to.
- 36:35He dealt a little bit, yeah. Or was it today?
- 36:39No Or no. They're playing right now.
- 36:40That was yesterday. Yeah.
- 36:41Yeah, He dealt yesterday. Looking good.
- 36:47The Phils. Goodness, man.
- 36:50Do I, I mean, I'll ask you, I mean, I'll ask you guys because
- 36:54I, I don't think I have any choice but to believe the Phills
- 36:59can bounce back because I have them in the World Series.
- 37:01So don't mind me, I'm going to go ahead and be a a believer.
- 37:09But do we think, oh, let me ask you this.
- 37:14Do we think the Phillies can still be a a post season caliber
- 37:19team? If, if and I know it's still
- 37:22early, but let's if, if we want to say that the division is
- 37:28maybe not as as likely of a landing spot for them as we
- 37:32thought. I think they can just cause of
- 37:35their pitching staff like their rotation, especially Wheeler
- 37:38coming back I think Saturday. No, he's got one more.
- 37:43I believe he's got one more rehab.
- 37:46Maybe that's that's what they were.
- 37:47They were deciding they were deciding they didn't got it.
- 37:50This was going to be the last one or not.
- 37:52Either way, I mean so. The thing is, they're 1/2 game.
- 37:54They're 1/2 game different than the Mets right now, and they're
- 37:57down five runs in the ninth. So like we're at the end of this
- 38:01game, they're going to lose their eighth straight game and
- 38:04they're going to be tied with the New York Mets.
- 38:06So however you feel about the Mets, you're looking at the
- 38:10Phillies right now in the same way, except for the fact that
- 38:13we've seen essentially the same roster be great.
- 38:16But they're not the Mets, though.
- 38:18That's the difference, right? No, like, I know it's like a
- 38:21better thing, but like, it's a real thing.
- 38:23Like it's, you can, I think you can look at them through a
- 38:26different lens because they're not the Mets and they don't
- 38:29carry the same sort of baggage that comes with the Mets.
- 38:32But yeah, to your point, Nate, Zach Wheeler is back.
- 38:36Saturday is confirmed so. OK, cool.
- 38:38I thought so. But I think that rotation is
- 38:41going to keep them in the mix. You got to assume that some of
- 38:44this offense will start to turn it on.
- 38:47I mean, Trey Turner just doesn't look at 635 OPS at the moment.
- 38:56Bryce and and Schwarber look normal for the most part.
- 39:01The rest of the lineups, just like there's nothing.
- 39:03It's just nothing. It's a big nothing burger.
- 39:05Well, the Phillies have a five O 5 ERA on the season right now.
- 39:09They've given up the third most runs at 119.
- 39:15You got to assume that's going to go back to normal, right?
- 39:18Yeah, you would think that that has to get better.
- 39:24If you break it down to just starter, I mean, you're looking
- 39:27at the 4th worst at a 534. It's just it's not been
- 39:32effective from the rotation there.
- 39:34And if the rotation, which like I said about the Phillies, we we
- 39:39kind of know who they are. If they just kind of from this
- 39:44point pitch better, you have to think the rest of this can come
- 39:49around. We've seen this team be really
- 39:52good. It's you're, you're in dangerous
- 39:57territory right now. I know we're only a month in,
- 40:00but you're in dangerous territory right now.
- 40:02Specifically, 8 1/2 out of the division is you.
- 40:07You play the Braves a lot. I don't know.
- 40:08Have they played the Braves yet? Didn't they just play the
- 40:13Braves? Did they just play the Braves?
- 40:14Swept in Philly. So that's even, you know, you
- 40:17don't have as many games to try to climb back into that.
- 40:23I mean like. That matters a little bit.
- 40:25I didn't know this guy we were watching before we hopped on
- 40:30Felix Reyes was hitting four hole for them.
- 40:33He's 25 years old. He looks like he's 39.
- 40:36I've never ever heard of this guy and he's hitting four hole.
- 40:41I it's just they're it's a they're, I think they're in a
- 40:44very desperate rough spot. There's some of these names that
- 40:49they committed to and like we talked about, you felt like they
- 40:53needed kind of like a changing of the guard.
- 40:55Like you can keep your your normal dudes, but like the guys
- 41:00that you're on the fence about, like maybe we just start to move
- 41:03on from, you know, Brandon Marsh, again, no disrespect.
- 41:07Was like 1/4 outfielder for the Angels for years and now all of
- 41:11a sudden you're like relying on him to play every single day.
- 41:14Adolos Garcia I think there's a reason why the Rangers moved on,
- 41:17right? Like, and now you're expecting
- 41:20him to play every day, Alex. Bone was on the trade market for
- 41:24seemingly the whole year. And probably like mentally feel
- 41:27like that guy's been in a blender for two plus years now.
- 41:29Yeah, like they're you. You decided to.
- 41:33I I didn't disagree with it, but you decided to bring back Rio
- 41:36Muto and. Who just like shelf, I believe.
- 41:40Like you, you believe in what he can do behind the dish, but
- 41:43like, obviously everything's just kind of fading as he gets
- 41:46older. Like, I just, I don't know, I
- 41:53feel like they needed to hit the reset button and they didn't.
- 41:56And there it is. There.
- 41:57That's their ninth. Eighth straight loss. 8th, 8th
- 42:01straight loss. Cubs eighth straight win fills
- 42:04eighth straight loss. That dub be flying.
- 42:11That dub do be flying all right. Any other thoughts on the fills?
- 42:20Figure it out quickly. 5 and 10 at home, by the way.
- 42:29Yeah, the bank don't be banking. No dude didn't.
- 42:32It needs to. I mean, it's April.
- 42:35I'm not bro. What are we?
- 42:38Are we taking jump shots before we get to third base on home run
- 42:43shots? Now look, what are we doing I.
- 42:50Don't know that guy is. I tell you, who's not taking
- 42:56many, who's not giving up many homers for there to be home run
- 43:01trots on Jose Soriano, look out on the Year 5, and oh, I feel
- 43:09like quite frankly, he could have warranted A nomination for
- 43:13the credit cannon last week. But I just wanted to see if this
- 43:16was if this was legit or not. It real dude.
- 43:20Real This is the real deal. 5 and O30 on the season 5 and O 37
- 43:25and 2/3 and ERA of .2443 strikeouts to just thirteen
- 43:32walks. Has only given up 1 earned run
- 43:35on the season. The current runner up for the Cy
- 43:42Young in the American League right now.
- 43:45Helping your angels to a 12 and 14 record at the moment.
- 43:51My angels. Your angels, you need them to
- 43:55lose a lot this year. That's that's in your worst
- 43:59teams draft. That's a great point.
- 44:01That's a good point. Yeah, well, they can.
- 44:05I mean, I guess for the the Soriano storyline, they can win
- 44:08those games, but they just got to lose the other ones because I
- 44:11I like seeing this, this Soriano success, if you will.
- 44:18Wasn't this the guy JB told us? Was it on Clubhouse where he's
- 44:22like, we knew this was coming or something?
- 44:24Oh. I didn't say we knew it was
- 44:26coming. I said this stuff has been
- 44:27there. You like the?
- 44:30Stuff I think. You said we knew the stuff was
- 44:32there because then I said. Did we knew?
- 44:35Did. We, I, he's never put anything
- 44:40together like that. I mean, his baseball savant page
- 44:42has more red than his uniform does.
- 44:44That's not been a. Bar just.
- 44:49Ball he he's never done that he's never put all of that
- 44:55together. Well, no, I did his reaction,
- 44:58dude, he can't. He's just he can't just let it
- 45:01ride. No, but he's never been able to
- 45:05put something together like this until now.
- 45:07And I mean, you could say you have a good slider, but this is
- 45:13this is another. One start, any rumors or any
- 45:15allegations you just start up. No, I don't know man.
- 45:20No, I thought I'm a benefit of the doubt.
- 45:22No, he's 27. That's a good age.
- 45:26I, there's like a few ages. I like to say, like you figured
- 45:30that out. I like 24, I like 27.
- 45:33Those are ages that are very typical to say.
- 45:37I, I've, I know who I am now. And maybe that's what he's doing
- 45:40right now. Maybe he's just.
- 45:42Maybe he's just on a roll. Casey, you can move on 'cause he
- 45:47needs to hurt from Jake Berger. Knock right there to score
- 45:53Rangers. Side up against his pirates,
- 45:56he's got to feel it for a SEC. Pirate baby, stand by.
- 46:06McCutcheon scoring that third run, too.
- 46:10Real, OK, real quick side note that whole did you see the the
- 46:15media availability after the game yesterday or was it before
- 46:18today's game, after the game? Yesterday after the game
- 46:20yesterday. What was that about, man?
- 46:22Come on, answer the question. Stop.
- 46:25Stop with the sour grapes. They're asking him questions
- 46:28about his relationship with the pirates.
- 46:30He's like, I prefer to not answer that question.
- 46:32I prefer to not answer that question.
- 46:34I'm like, come on, come on. I don't know.
- 46:39Yeah, I'm, I'm a little, I'm a little torn on it.
- 46:48I understand. Honestly, that's big of you.
- 46:50JBI wasn't expecting you to say that.
- 46:52And I, I sincerely mean that. I, I, the the fact that you're
- 46:56even torn on it or just not full full blown one way or the other,
- 47:01like that's that's big of you. I I respect that.
- 47:05He's he's still our guy and no doubt, but this is a tough this
- 47:11has been a tough like situation and it is I think, and I don't
- 47:16know if we want to go into this, but I think that it is always
- 47:19tough to see one of the greats fade away and that that sucks.
- 47:29And then on top of that, like I listen, it's been it's been
- 47:36written enough. How much he cares about
- 47:40Pittsburgh and about that franchise and if they really
- 47:44were not communicating with him at all, which sounds like that's
- 47:47what it was. And McCutcheon was pretty clear
- 47:51about some things in the offseason that they weren't.
- 47:54And, and he's he's, you know, he's had posts out on social and
- 47:57removed them. And you're asking him, you know,
- 48:01do you regret not being able to work something out?
- 48:05And he's got Rangers hats behind him.
- 48:07He's in his locker, sure. What's he going to say?
- 48:10He's not going to say like, yeah, I really wish I played for
- 48:12them, not the team I'm on. You can't say that.
- 48:15Yeah, but at the same time. But at the same time, Andrew
- 48:19McCutcheon isn't exactly 1 to hold his tongue either when it
- 48:23comes to, you know, speaking his mind.
- 48:25So no, but I think I'm, I think I, I think I get a little bit of
- 48:31if he's saying like, listen, if if I'm completely honest here,
- 48:35if he's just transparent and, and lays it out, one of two
- 48:39things is going to happen. You're either going to say what
- 48:42a baby, just move on and do something else, or you're going
- 48:48to say that's a terrible thing. If there's no good that comes
- 48:52out of answering that question because he's either dogging the
- 48:56franchise that he cares about or or he just looks like he's
- 49:02complaining and he's a wash baseball player who can't
- 49:06realize where he's at. You know what I'm saying?
- 49:08Like that's a lot of things that that it's going to be taken from
- 49:11that. And I think it's probably, I
- 49:13think in that scenario, maybe it's a good idea to say, listen,
- 49:17I just don't want to answer that.
- 49:18I'm on a team right now. I'm focused on this team.
- 49:20I'm trying to trying to win games.
- 49:22No, well, it wasn't that it, it was he he said it with with just
- 49:29this sort of, I don't want to say arrogance, but like he just
- 49:32said it with this very clear, like predetermined.
- 49:36It didn't matter what the question was going to be because
- 49:38he said it like 3-3 times. I think he was like I'm.
- 49:43Just ask him in different ways. And he was, he's like, I'm not
- 49:46going to go there. Well, yeah, like I, I, I would
- 49:50prefer not to answer that question.
- 49:51I would prefer not to. I'm like, OK, whatever.
- 49:53But anyway, I the last thing I'll say, no matter.
- 49:55I, I feel like there, there can be a middle ground between
- 49:58dogging the franchise and doing the Freddie Freeman, like
- 50:01weeping at your locker when asked about, you know, the
- 50:05Braves situation. Like, can there not just be a, a
- 50:08happy medium where, you know, maybe you, you, you, I, I don't
- 50:13know that there's got to be something in between.
- 50:16I don't think it has to be such an extreme either or.
- 50:19Our Braves followers almost had a perfect episode.
- 50:24Sorry, yeah. That's on me.
- 50:26That's on me. Braves loves Philly hate and
- 50:32then Freddie. Why'd you have to bring that up?
- 50:38We were doing so good. Speaking of doing good, Riley
- 50:41O'Brien Riley O'Brien for the Cardinals on the year 3 and O 7
- 50:51saves, 15 strikeouts to zero walks.
- 50:55Has an ERA of 0. That's good.
- 51:02Over 13 and a third. So a reliever getting into the
- 51:07mix. Not many relievers make it into
- 51:09the mix. I mean, we had Mason Miller last
- 51:10year, but he's doing otherworldly things.
- 51:13But he could make the argument that Riley O'Brien is at least,
- 51:20you know, in outer space. If he hasn't reached another
- 51:23world yet, he's at least in the atmosphere.
- 51:28Yeah. Good.
- 51:29Good on Riley O'Brien. Another bright, a bright spot
- 51:33for the Cardinals paired with, you know, Jordan Walker doing
- 51:35what he's doing some some pretty, pretty interesting
- 51:39storylines. Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty
- 51:42cool. Speaking of pretty cool my guy
- 51:49on my fantasy squad, you're not Alvarez leading all of baseball
- 51:57with 11 homers has an OPS at 12:45 and you think, Oh well,
- 52:03it's maybe it's just the power this year, isn't it?
- 52:06He's probably hitting like $1.25.
- 52:08No, wrong. He's hitting 347 on the season
- 52:12actually and 26 RBIs that go with that.
- 52:15So just a a a full package hitter this year for Jordan
- 52:22Alvarez coming for coming for all the offensive awards this
- 52:29year. Yeah, I saw you look up.
- 52:35So that's a name that I'm going to be excited to follow for for
- 52:39multiple reasons. It's.
- 52:41Going to be tough when you have to trade them.
- 52:46Why would I trade them? I don't know.
- 52:48Are you about to lose again this week?
- 52:51I think I'm actually winning right now, but thanks.
- 52:53You're not then Ben's going to out hustle you on the waiver
- 52:56wire. So it's going to be a loss.
- 52:59Ben, I mean, ask Ben. He, and I've said this before,
- 53:03he he wipes the floor with me in the regular season, but the last
- 53:08two years I've had his number in the playoffs.
- 53:10So you tell me. Speaking of wiping the floor,
- 53:19Taka Murakami is wiping the floor with the pitchers he's
- 53:23going up against. Not as dominant as Jordan
- 53:28Alvarez. I will say though, obviously.
- 53:31I mean, he's got, however, he's got 9 homers on the year.
- 53:34He's only hitting 234, but seventeen RBI is driving in runs
- 53:38OPS at 978, which is tied for seventh in all baseball.
- 53:41So I wanted to include him just because one, he's hitting
- 53:47baseballs over the hitter's eye are the batter's eye that we're
- 53:51we've we've seen. So I feel like that's notable in
- 53:54and of itself. But also just being able to
- 53:56settle in having come from overseas, you just never know
- 54:02like it regardless how good we have this conversation all the
- 54:04time, regardless how good a guy is over there.
- 54:06You just, it's, it's really a flip of the coin as to how
- 54:09they're going to respond, how they're going to adjust, adapt
- 54:12this that in the 3rd and seems like he's settling in quite
- 54:16nicely for my Chicago White Sox, who I still believe can finish
- 54:22at 500 or better despite the sluggish start.
- 54:25My A's. My first place A's.
- 54:31This guy claims too many teams. Yeah, he's got a lot of them.
- 54:34Well, you were the one saying my angels, they're not my angels
- 54:38that I have them losing. I know it's facetious because
- 54:42you hate them. Yeah, well, I think
- 54:45subconsciously that's playing into your your thought of me
- 54:49claiming too many teams. But that was on you.
- 54:52And it's not even the actual ones.
- 54:53Who do I claim? The A's, the White Sox, you
- 54:57claim a lot of guys. No, no, no, it seems teams.
- 55:01Teams Who do I? What teams do I claim?
- 55:04Tell me, tell me what teams are Royals?
- 55:07The A's. The White Sox.
- 55:08I don't claim the Royals, I claim just some days.
- 55:11Their their their radio booth for 10 minutes to.
- 55:15Start. But did I say?
- 55:17Did I say my Royals? The Phillies are one of your
- 55:21teams. Well, that's been known.
- 55:23Obviously. You got a lot of teams guy,
- 55:27would you if if you were if you were best friends with the king
- 55:33of the castle in this, in this sense, the Prince, if you were
- 55:37best friends, if if you just loved the Prince that lived in
- 55:41the castle, would you would you hate?
- 55:44Would you hate the castle? Would you say, hey dude, your
- 55:47your castle sucks? No.
- 55:49So I'm going to claim the Castle AKA the Phillies because.
- 55:54Best friends with yes yes dude, we're.
- 55:59We're Bros, I got you. Oh, shout out my white socks.
- 56:03Solo bomb Miguel Vargas. Goodness.
- 56:08Cutting the deficit to one, it just never ends.
- 56:12I'm I'm on a heater right now. Yeah, your guy E Rod giving up
- 56:15nukes. That's not oh E Rod's not my
- 56:18guy. He has not been my guy for a
- 56:20long time. In fact, I don't even know if he
- 56:22ever was my guy. Anyway, couple items here to
- 56:27close the book. Royals announced their plan for
- 56:31a new stadium, which I know was it in the offseason or even last
- 56:38year that it there was the the report that came out that said
- 56:43that they might, but I guess today made it official.
- 56:46Are they they officially moving? Is this, is this what how I'm
- 56:49understanding this sounds like? Sounds like they're moving
- 56:53downtown and ballpark looks pretty pretty nice.
- 56:57How's it? Got some renderings out.
- 56:59I'm seeing a lot of Royals fans make comparisons to the current
- 57:02coffin stadium, which it sounds like they're they're in favor
- 57:07of, you know, not getting too, too wonky.
- 57:12But yeah, my Royals as as it were getting a new, getting a
- 57:18new home. So that's that's noteworthy.
- 57:23Looks like the fountains are going to be a thing still.
- 57:27Fountains in the rendering, I don't know if you if you can
- 57:30tell in the pictures you're looking at, but the fountains I
- 57:33don't think are going to play because of where they're
- 57:35located. And somebody, I saw somebody
- 57:38make a good point. Dead center you can't.
- 57:40Have those dead. You can't have fountains as a as
- 57:44a batter's eye. That's just not how that works.
- 57:48So those are probably going to have to get moved.
- 57:51But All in all, my Royals, all things looking up despite the
- 57:57the lowly record. Nate, give me your thoughts on
- 58:04on your Yankees wanting possibly to wear alternates.
- 58:09Have you seen this? Yeah.
- 58:13I'm kind of cool with it. It's all I.
- 58:14Whatever I. How kind of torn on it.
- 58:20Yeah, I get it. Like, I get both sides where
- 58:24it's just like, like some people have to take where it's like,
- 58:27you know, just go win a ring. Like stop trying to just stop,
- 58:32like stop asking to do different things.
- 58:34Just go win. And on the other side of it, I
- 58:43don't know, like, why not switch it up, Try something new, see
- 58:47what works? I like the I like those uniforms
- 58:51and I don't like our greys. When they got rid of the white
- 58:54outlines on our greys, they suck.
- 58:56Well, I so no, I think initially you and I were both like, OK,
- 58:59that's kind of an that's kind of an ode to the.
- 59:02I hate them now. Yeah, I would agree with you.
- 59:04I've kind of I've kind of. I may have been at first.
- 59:08I mean, I always hated them objectively, but you know what I
- 59:10mean. Sure.
- 59:12Design wise, I, I, I hate them now.
- 59:15Yeah. Now which ones, though?
- 59:18Because I saw, I saw two pictures.
- 59:21I saw one where it was the NY on the chest, but then I also saw a
- 59:24picture being used where it's the New York.
- 59:27Yeah, I think it's the New York one, OK, because the the NY.
- 59:32That would be a home alternate anyway.
- 59:34They're never not going to wear the pinstripes.
- 59:36They're always going to have the white pinstripes at home.
- 59:38So that's never going to go anywhere.
- 59:40Makes sense. So the the blue New York across
- 59:42the chest, I don't know. I mean, they got approved and
- 59:46now it just comes down to if they decide to do it or not.
- 59:49I think MLB was cool with it. I saw a take where it said this
- 59:53is just another way that the Yankees are becoming like every
- 59:57other team in baseball, and I can't disagree.
- 59:59And I get that side of it too, where like, they're just kind of
- 1:00:02ditching all traditions, but it's like, yeah, you know.
- 1:00:07It's been a while, so I shake things up.
- 1:00:10I don't care. And then you've got Boone
- 1:00:12calling across town to Mendoza to console him and encourage
- 1:00:16him. I mean, what do we do?
- 1:00:17Like, come on. I know what what else is new?
- 1:00:21What? What else would you expect from
- 1:00:23that guy? I mean, that's not a that's not
- 1:00:27an old man boomer take. That's that's like that comes
- 1:00:30down to like a competitive nature.
- 1:00:32Like why are you calling? But this is a manager.
- 1:00:35We talk about all the time like these guys just they make out in
- 1:00:38the outfield. Before, but this is but this is
- 1:00:40this isn't the same thing, though.
- 1:00:42This is a guy that that came up in that in that culture where
- 1:00:46this wasn't this would have never flown.
- 1:00:50Well, what do we? I don't know, man, I don't know.
- 1:00:53I think it's just the that's how he is, that's just how he is.
- 1:00:57It sucks, but Mendoza was a Yankees, you know, bench coach
- 1:01:01for a long time. So it's.
- 1:01:02Like it's. A long tie there.
- 1:01:04I get it, but he's not anymore. He's the manager of the team
- 1:01:09across town. Anyway, that's just whatever.
- 1:01:12Who was in a different league and this is a guy who coached
- 1:01:15under under Boon, their friends. I mean, no, I I get that.
- 1:01:20I don't know why that has to come out, though.
- 1:01:23Yeah, so I get, I get the look. It that's very yeah, who even
- 1:01:26bring who even brings that up? Was that Boone that that or no,
- 1:01:29it was Boone. He was the one that said that,
- 1:01:31so that's on him. Yeah, that just.
- 1:01:32Yeah, let's go, Pirates come out.
- 1:01:35Clap it up in the ninth. Yep, clap it up.
- 1:01:40Go. Pirate All right, let's close it
- 1:01:43out with. Marais, Question of the Week.
- 1:01:48Murray's question of the week, I texted him before he hopped on.
- 1:01:52I asked him if he had a few or if he had a question of the week
- 1:01:55and sent me a few. Murray wants to know, if called
- 1:02:04upon, could you confidently play any position except pitcher for
- 1:02:10your favorite team in a World Series for all seven games?
- 1:02:14Or would you pass now? Right now.
- 1:02:19Oh, yeah. No, no, sorry, sorry, sorry.
- 1:02:21Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Sitting in this chair.
- 1:02:23No, I forgot that I missed the I missed the the beginning
- 1:02:25qualifier, he says. As of right now in in
- 1:02:28parentheses. No time to train if called.
- 1:02:32If called upon, could you confidently play any position
- 1:02:36except pitcher for your favorite team in a World Series, all
- 1:02:39seven games or. Would you pass?
- 1:02:41No, not any position. I got to be honest with, I think
- 1:02:45I would fill my shorts if I had to try and and try and catch a
- 1:02:49fly ball right now. There's just no way.
- 1:02:53You know how hard that is if you take this much time off.
- 1:02:56Yeah. I think a ground ball.
- 1:02:57I could get, I could probably get away with it.
- 1:03:00I that now that I was going to say the opposite.
- 1:03:02I'd like a fly ball because of the reaction time.
- 1:03:05You like the the instincts would kick in, but a ball coming off
- 1:03:10the bat at like 105 would be might as well might as well be
- 1:03:15405 at this point. Like I'm, I'm not tracking that
- 1:03:18ground ball whatsoever. All right.
- 1:03:20Can we all agree that the very last position we would agree to
- 1:03:23play right now would be catcher? Catcher, Yeah.
- 1:03:25I'm not getting back there. Never got.
- 1:03:28I'm not squatting down and I'm not breaking my thumb on some
- 1:03:33101 sinker. Just.
- 1:03:36Eating me. Alive dude I would miss it not
- 1:03:38happening. I can't see.
- 1:03:40Now, would I say yes to this opportunity?
- 1:03:43Absolutely. Yeah, but you'd be the reason
- 1:03:46that they would lose. Yeah, that's fair too.
- 1:03:49That's. Fair not not if they put me in
- 1:03:51catcher, I'm only lasting 1 inning.
- 1:03:52We're going to lose anyway, so let me get some.
- 1:03:54Time on the field let me collect some game checks.
- 1:03:59Oh, no way. Now what would be the?
- 1:04:03What would be the the position that we would try?
- 1:04:08Try. I would also say that just I
- 1:04:10would also say that they're gonna have to DH for me, not the
- 1:04:14pitcher. Yeah, I'm not touching anything
- 1:04:18right now. I could maybe I could maybe try
- 1:04:21my luck at second short I'm I'm laterally I'm way too like my
- 1:04:26hips have locked up. For good now 100%.
- 1:04:29If I know deep the whole time and just be at third, I think
- 1:04:32I'd take that. No, but that goes back to the
- 1:04:34reaction time like the Yeah, I. Don't like, I don't think.
- 1:04:37I am not taking, I trust. My hands before I trust my feet.
- 1:04:41My fat work has got to be shot. I mean, as of right now we're
- 1:04:46talking for me personally, we're talking like Jeter range type.
- 1:04:51So that's kind of where we're at, like with the hips, with the
- 1:04:55hips. Right range then your current
- 1:04:57shortstop guy sucks. Can can't argue that beginning.
- 1:05:02Ended Did you win? What happened?
- 1:05:06Cruz just doinked it off the top of the foul pole.
- 1:05:09Like like this? What doink like the top of the
- 1:05:15foul pole? 84 now.
- 1:05:18Yeah, you just did a three run Homer.
- 1:05:20Yeah, Big inning just shut it down on us for no reason.
- 1:05:24That ball landed on the top of the foul pole I think, and then
- 1:05:28kept bouncing. If they this wouldn't make any
- 1:05:31sense. But if Big Inning was on during
- 1:05:34the World Series, if the World Series went over by by three
- 1:05:39minutes, they're cutting it. They're cutting it off in the
- 1:05:41bottom of the ninth because that's just what they do.
- 1:05:44I hate it. Oh, shoot.
- 1:05:47Yeah, I would try my luck at second.
- 1:05:49I think I could. I think I could get by at 2nd.
- 1:05:52I'd have to play an outfield position.
- 1:05:54Baseball, I was an outfielder, so there's no way I'm going to
- 1:05:57the infield. Outfield terrifies me.
- 1:05:59I I I played the outfield in in adult league like the summer
- 1:06:03league thing it. Sucks.
- 1:06:05The amount, the amount of balls, well, it wasn't that many, but
- 1:06:09there was a few balls that got by me.
- 1:06:11Like you know how you drop to a knee?
- 1:06:12I'm like, I gotta block this. The ball went right by.
- 1:06:17Granted, we're playing in like a middle of a right cornfield, the
- 1:06:21grass. Exactly.
- 1:06:22You're not worried about hops out there?
- 1:06:25No, we are we're that we're. No, I'm.
- 1:06:27Not if you're if you're going out to a Major League.
- 1:06:28Field. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:06:29yeah, yeah. It's a good point.
- 1:06:30We're all worried about that, actually.
- 1:06:31Yeah, maybe. I I would have a very O'Neill
- 1:06:34Cruz esque opening day. Yeah, so, so nay would be
- 1:06:40O'Neill Cruz on opening day. I would be Jeter at short with
- 1:06:43the range it's. Just with that, you'd be Trevor
- 1:06:46Story at short is what you mean. Well, either way, not good.
- 1:06:52OK. Yeah, that wraps up Question of
- 1:06:53the Week. I'm.
- 1:06:56Dang Dang, that ball was hit hard.
- 1:07:02JB, you. Didn't.
- 1:07:03You didn't prep any. You didn't prep any trivia for
- 1:07:06us? Did.
- 1:07:06You. No.
- 1:07:06Do you need another Murray's question of the week or we we
- 1:07:09just you said he gave you a couple.
- 1:07:11I don't know. Yeah.
- 1:07:12I mean, I can save them. I don't want to blow through
- 1:07:14them, but I also don't want to don't want to prolong our.
- 1:07:18I don't think I've ever seen anyone hit a ball off of the
- 1:07:22top. Top of the foul pole?
- 1:07:23I've never seen that. It's.
- 1:07:25That is, that is bouncing off the top of the foul pole.
- 1:07:29I would I would love to see it, but beginning.
- 1:07:32It totally did and then made it to the second deck.
- 1:07:36Yeah, like it, like the foul pole got in its way. 116.9 on
- 1:07:43that one. Oh, I should be able to rewind
- 1:07:46once I get on there. Here's the interesting thing.
- 1:07:48Are you ready for this? That that ball this is this is
- 1:07:54outrageous. The ball that O'Neill Cruz hit
- 1:07:58is a home run in two out of 30 parks.
- 1:08:03Wow. Dumb.
- 1:08:06Because I'm guessing that in the rest of them it goes foul.
- 1:08:12But it's it's. Globe Life Field and Fenway are
- 1:08:17the only two that that is a home run at OH.
- 1:08:19You're saying because of like the curvature?
- 1:08:21Of because it because it was curve and it hit the top of the
- 1:08:24foul pole. So if you're if you're 5 feet
- 1:08:26further than globe life field, it's probably hooking a little
- 1:08:31foul. That's OK.
- 1:08:33Bonkers. Here we go.
- 1:08:34It's also down the line 4/22. That's cool.
- 1:08:41You watching it? Oh yeah, here we go.
- 1:08:45Oh, you can see clear as day. Oh my gosh, that's nuts.
- 1:08:50Do they just have a super short foul poll?
- 1:08:53What is that I? Don't know.
- 1:08:55I've never seen that before. That's never seen that.
- 1:09:01Anyway, Speaking of MLBT VS I'm, I'm just going through my my
- 1:09:04tweet about the same three commercials saying some of the
- 1:09:07responses are great. Somebody was like that Google ad
- 1:09:10gets to me, Somebody said. We still see the Fernando Tatis
- 1:09:14dancing one in our nightmares. Somebody, somebody said.
- 1:09:20Somebody said Smokey Bear is getting plenty of run.
- 1:09:26It's awesome that we're on. We're all like in our own little
- 1:09:29like bubble commercials. Yeah, Because I've never heard
- 1:09:32or seen of any of these commercials that they're saying.
- 1:09:34Somebody said Braves Visions Countryfest ad is getting its
- 1:09:37money's worth, I can tell you that.
- 1:09:42Somebody said somebody says we love Car Shield.
- 1:09:48Oh, car shield. I get a lot of car shield.
- 1:09:51Hey, that's a great point by Sam.
- 1:09:53He says as long as it's not political ads, that's fine.
- 1:09:55You know what, look at Sam looking at the looking for the
- 1:09:57silver lining. Good for some anyway.
- 1:10:04How about that about does it? That's all I got.
- 1:10:11This is fun. I had fun tonight.
- 1:10:14I always have fun with you guys. OK, you, man, No, no prep
- 1:10:20episodes, just winging it. You've really evolved.

- 1:10:36You're like, what are we? You're like, what are we talking
- 1:10:38about tonight, Casey? I'm like you tell me.
