- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: on this day and look on this holiday I am almost always thoughtful about what we have here in the United States and they don't call it independent stay for no reason we have our freedom and look independence is more than a historical event it's more than parades it's more than barbecues it's more than a day off independence and freedom for us as Americans is a daily
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: choice.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's something that we live.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's part of the American DNA.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: I was born in the 60s, raised in the 70s and 80s, and as a Reagan teen, which I think, I don't know if that's a coin to frayers and up, but I'm a Reagan teen.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: Freedom was drilled into us.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like him or not, Democrat Republican, it doesn't matter.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: He was about freedom and I grew up in a time and was in the military in a time when it was hammered into us.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: There was still a cold war.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: There was still a Berlin wall.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: There were still people in the world who were amazingly oppressed and there still are.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: But when you're raised with that the way we were, without the internet, it was deeper
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: You think about and can reflect about how our personal freedom can be used to positively influence others, responsibly influence others.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: Those around you, those who aren't around you, but who are influenced by the ripple effect of what you do, the unintended consequence of what we do as humans, are your actions today.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: honoring the responsibility that comes with all of us for our independence.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's a big responsibility.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: Freedom is messy.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: There is so much joy and so much pain in freedom because freedom means that there are people who aren't reaching their potential, who can't even
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: get there.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: The opportunities are there, but they don't know how to get there.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: And for us, if we can uplift ourselves and be positive and responsible in what we do, we can bring more people into their opportunities, into areas of prosperity.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: I believe that, not about capitalism.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's not about what side of the political aisle you're on.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's about being an intentional
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: positive, responsible human.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: There is no party for that.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that in this day where we celebrate our independence day that you think about that responsibility that we have with our personal freedom, what we do with it.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: The ripples that we have that can turn into waves of influence, the intended and unintended consequences of our actions, and our words, because today words matter, the way that we spread information, we have people who influence millions, just through their words, there's a heavy responsibility for that, and I challenge all of you.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: lean into that responsibility be positive and responsible with it and be the best human that you can be and make America worthy of the independence that we have and the prosperity that is available to everybody who is part of our country.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you have a great fourth of July be safe and I look
