- Well I feel like we have to get the admin out of the way for all listeners because this has become somewhat of a tradition on hemispheric views. If you're new to the show, we like when I say we I mean one particularly another kind of and the other, me, not really, doesn't care, likes to change the infrastructure of what's going on behind the show. And the number one candidate for any change in infrastructure is the note-taking app that runs the run sheet. There's that word again, run, right? Right, runs the run sheet of the show. It's called the start sheet. The start sheet, yeah. So the start sheet. That's a windows feature actually. Start run command.exe. So I'm inserting a quick robot at the start of the show. That's you, Jason. What have you done? Uh let's see, what have I done? Well, I as the IT professional within the organization, I accept and listen to feedback from my users, being Andrew and Martin. And when there is a hot request coming in that has passion behind it, such as I really, really wish we could go back to Apple Notes for our sh for our start sheet. I listen. You know, I I receive that feedback and I respond accordingly. So I got the message from Martin that this was required. This is a P1. He put it as a P1. P1 request right to the top of the queue. Uh and I migrated everything back to uh his beloved uh Apple Notes so that we can keep our notes flowing. We can have our little checkboxes. And uh everything is good with the world. So you're welcome, Martin. Uh it took a lot by the way to shuffle things around in the queue to prioritize your needs, but you know, I'm here to accommodate. I really liked Hack MD. S so do I. And look, I feel like I've been completely misrepresented in this. I know that I've become known as Mr. Default, right? Or Mr. Defaults, but I never requested this and I'm look I have no problem with it. I've become used to things shuffling around, but I feel like the title of this episode could be whiplash, because that's what I'm feeling right now. I don't I it seems it seems good to me. Everything's good. I see your little faces bouncing around in the notes. I like it. It's uh it's it's nice. It's good. We got links. I felt whenever I went to Hack MD I had to log in. It seemed like it lost my login quite often. Um so I don't have to No, you don't. you're already logged in. Good to go. It's okay. I j it just it's the font. It's the AppleNotes font that drives me crazy. I can't. Oh, you don't like the rounded, like the SF rounded. Do you not like. And it's very bunched up. It feels very claustrophobic because the line spacing isn't. But it's got line b it's got line breaks. It's got the little lines across. You know I love that. So I love a line. Yeah, I know you love a line. I guess my only I only have one complaint in that on the Mac you can change the color, like the highlight color or whatever. The like what is that? The tone? What do they even call that? Mm-hmm color for stuff in the OS is pink on my Mac. All the accent color. Accent color. There it is. So it's pink on the Mac, which is great. Yes. But on iOS, it's that like fuggly yellow that you can't change. Yellow. And that's yellow is such a crap colour to use for any brand, particularly podcasts. I find anyone who I agree. Which is why it's orange. Yeah, you nailed it. What if it was the exact same cx value is that would be so good. It's like off by one, and I'm like, this is the shittest caller ever, and it's exactly the same. You know, having met both of you and come along for the ride of let's change apps just cause, it's helped me to grow as a person with dealing with the strange and unpredictable. I feel like I've the foot has loosened up in one minor way over the last few years. Oh he Andrew looks doubtful. He upped his shoe size. Exactly. Yeah. I've got a bit more wiggle room in the toe area. Did you have those actually just quickly? Andrew, I'm sure you do, but Jason, going to like fit for school sh no, you wouldn't have fit for school shoes 'cause you wear whatever you want. Wear whatever you want. No, this is Oh my god. Yeah, this is the land of the free home of the brave. We don't just wear whatever we want. But you have those little foot measuring things like kids would sit up on a platform like the metal thing? Yeah, that's it. You have that. Yeah, that's it. I forgot the thing, but you have those, right? Yeah. Yep. Okay, but it's just the measurements are wrong because it's good. Correct. Yeah, shoe shoe measurements, by the way, are just dumb across the board. Like just measure the foot in I don't even care, centimeters, millimeters, whatever. And that should be the size. Why do we have US size, Jap Japan size, what the f why? And with Imperial, who has the standard foot? So if you go there and you say, Oh, I imagine my foot would be one foot long, but it's like, well, no, no, your foot is not a foot long, but my foot is the length of my foot. Yeah, but it's not a foot. It's infuriating trying to get shoes in another country. Just measure your foot like we have standard measurements. Why do we need these fake sizes? I don't know. But we I think we need to invent uh or have a new measure, which is the Martin. That would be the standard measure of the Mr. I will push that through all day long. You have my vote. I think I might freak both of you out there, because I think my feet are smaller than yours. Like both of yours. That's fine. Then I'll have like two I'll have my what size shoe are you? I'm a I'm a one point eight five Martin. Oh okay, fair enough. 'Cause I think Andrew particularly would look at my feet and just be like, what is that? Like a shoe for ants? Oh yeah, I'd be like a I'd be like a three point one Martin. Yeah, for sure. I'm fine with that. That's completely okay with me. I don't care. Just get away from this stupid sizing. We don't need a chart. We have a measuring tape. Yeah. Make it happen. So that's Apple Notes. Right. Right. So now that we've covered feet measurement, that's AppleNotes And how many A's do you have in your blog now, Jason? I have five A's. I did yeah, I made another change. The internet website that I call my own is now in a new location. I just actually finished migrating all the blog posts. Um I could have done it really easily. Wow. But I chose to go through them painstakingly and fix everything that was wrong. Because no one's ever gonna look at it, but it was bothering me that there were things that were broken. So you know, posts from two thousand nine that had a broken link or something, no one's ever gonna look at it, but now I know those links work. So I'm I'm happy. But that's a good point because I think that's a topic of discussion that comes up a lot in like is a blomb for performance or is it for yourself? It's for yourself. It's for you. Yeah. So do what you want. If it makes you happy. I just went to grepjason.sh. It should. Everything should everything including if you had a link to anything from the past, they should all redirect the same because I keep the same like link format for everything. Oh what was your other one? It was Burt.io, wasn't it? Yeah. So that'll also if you had a blog post from whatever that was that one, it'll all just work. So what's the story behind the new name? Good question, but before I can I answer one other can I say one other thing before I forget You may something that was interesting when I was going through all these blog posts from the past. So they go back to like two thousand six. Um everything before that was sadly lost. We don't have to talk about that because I'll cry. The interesting thing that I found was how much my opinions haven't changed in a good way of being like, you know, this company is terrible. I'm leaving them because they're awful, or reviewers have terrible takes on things. Like, I just found a lot of blog posts where I was like, oh yeah, and I could write that today and that would still kinda hold up the same way that I feel now. So I'm I'm there wasn't a lot of like wishy washiness or or or whatever. So I thought that was that was that was kind of nice to see. Um other than the fact of just, you know, there was stuff that I used of a time that I wouldn't use now, but that was two thousand nine or whatever, so that's just how it is. But yeah, kinda interesting. Anyways, the name, um, I just I wanted so first of all, all these like crazy domain name extensions, I'm definitely afraid they're just gonna like go away or be taken from me. So I don't really not too stoked about that. And also they keep raising the price by like double every year which is insane. And I figure I just kinda want I don't want a boring old dot com. Like let's just get back to the dot com. let's let's rev up that information superhighway and get that dot com rolling. So I wanted a dot com. They're all taken, obviously. Like you can't get a dot com. Good luck. Have you tried com dot com? I tried that, it was taken, unfortunately. Okay. Um weirdly Jason.com taken. Like I who would have thought by now? Who knew? So I thought I'd go with um something weird and decided that uh I always think five nines is is kinda dumb and funny, so I went with five A's instead. So it's it's rad with five A's dot com. So it's not some super nostalgic story or you know as a child or teenager I was rad. It's that that's it. I no, I I've think I've said rad like my whole life, so I thought let's amp it up a little bit and put a f But you actually say it. Oh, constantly, yeah.. Wow Yeah. Must be an American thing. I don't know. I even found it in bl in I found it in old blog posts. I was like, oh yeah, that's right. It's a California thing, I think. I need to know what you're running on. What platform is this? Oh, can you guess? Do you want to guess? No, I've just tried looking at well, is it is it some sort of OMG dot L O L situation? No, it's not. Okay. Because it used to be. I don't think you're gonna guess. No, it was it was running on um W WordPress. On Obsidian Publish for the last couple of years. Was it? Yeah. Huh. So what's it running on now? I don't know. I can't tell. Martin, guess. I mean, I know last episode we were talking about the wonderful outpost, which you know helps with things like Pika by Jim Mitchell. so you're not taking your horse to the outpost now? No? No, I'm not on the outpost. No. It's um it's uh it's Drupal. Oh my god. No, it's it's not. It's totally not. five people at least right now just had a heart attack. They're like, no. Uh it's it's ghost. I'm actually using ghost. Yeah. The one the the yeah, interesting. The one that you can s monetize. Yeah, and I tried it in the past and I absolutely hated it and threw up when I saw the way that it was, you know, presented as like a monetize your friends basically um and then after I was using it again I realized oh wait I don't have to actually do that I can just use it as a CMS turns out I do have I do have dumb paid tiers to be able to comment just because I don't want basically I don't want people to comment, but if they really want to like pay a dollar to comment, go for it. But I wanted there to be tiers where you could be rad with one A, rad with two A's, three, four or five. Um and each one is a dollar. So depending on how many A's you want, you have to pay a dollar for each one. I mean you don't not to see anything. Touch pay monthly? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. So I I expect to make exactly zero dollars from it and that's the point. Um but it's uh yeah, I thought it was funny, so I did it. Ah interesting. There's that. Speaking of making money from things, uh which we always feel a bit embarrassed about on the show, don't we guys? But it's there as an option if you wanna support the making of the show. We do have One Prime Plus. And uh OnePrimePlus.com. Also a dot com. Yeah, well dot com. And there have been a couple of little member specials there. The most recent of which, if you haven't heard, uh just came out a short time before this episode is uh is published, and it was the what time was it, Jason? Was it like five in the morning for you, four in the morning for you? F five. I think it was five. Yeah. It was like five AM.. to order your iPhone's duo. Correct. For you and Valerie. Correct. So uh if you want to hear some very strange Jason ordering from the Apple website while Martin tags along, Andrew actually had stuff to do in his life, strangely enough, while this was happening. But I was online at like midnight. Yeah. Uh whatever it was to make it happen. And uh yeah, you can hear Jason order. I was on my internet browser clicking around being lost, and so I called Martin while I was doing it. So if you w what I'm saying to the listeners out there, if you want to hear even less structured conversation than this for a small fee, ha ha that's oneprimeplus.com. I think they call it riveting content. We don't blame if you don't want to sign up, really. But uh it's in the long game for us as we say. Go get a uh a three to five A tier subscription to my uh website. Do that. Perfect. And g and get exactly the same thing you get for free. That's what I'm selling. That's a good proposition. Yes, we got the forum. Uh chat.hemisferviews dot com. It has been on it's been running for however long it's been running. Couple of months. Thank goodness. Fingers crossed. Um and yeah, so we we were we've been I've been anxiously awaiting a 2.0 update of the software for it and it finally came out. So the upgrade happened l this week? Last week? Something. Let me check the up the 2.0 upgrade doc in our Apple Notes. Uh upgrade took place on 2026 1021 at 110 PM. To be specific, there was one issue that got me into a reboot loop. That was annoying. But I got that resolved. And now we are on two point oh, and it's I think better from what I can tell. It's smoother. Everything looks nicer. Dark mode is like proper now. There's dark mode, light mode, system mode, high contrast dark mode, and high contrast light mode now. So it should be good for everybody from a reading perspective. The emails don't look like complete garbage anymore. So when you respond to different threads, you you can have the ability to basically get emails when there's updates to that thread, so you kind of can be in the loop on it. Um those look actually pretty now and not really ugly and gross and say, like, unknown user said this, so that's nice. Um, there's also a real-time mode, which I've not enabled yet because I'm afraid of my database exploding, so I need to figure that out. But um that could be cool, where you could actually basically just be in a thread and be more or less live responding and chatting in a way. So it's kind of a hybrid chat forum in a way. So I haven't and I haven't enabled that yet. I need to do some testing on that to make sure everything hardware wise is gonna like be capable of handling that. But yeah, forms backup, good running. And if you're not there, you should go check it out. We usually call it photography corner, but this time he's calling it lens corner. Jason you've got something to say about lenses. I yeah, I j I I don't have a ton to say, I guess. it's like a mini how exciting corner. Mini lens corner. But it's not a mini lens that you're gonna talk about. No, it's very big. It's a big lens. Um I so I we were talking about lenses, and then you added a lens, then it became a corner. It was kind of like lens kind of offshoot lens. It was like app last time. Yeah, like app. Not app corner, just it was just lens. And then you were like, oh, I'm gonna put one, so then it was lens corner. Yep. And I thought, well surely Andrew's gonna come in and put one as well. I didn't I haven't seen one from him yet. But maybe next week we can hold out. Um Crickets. Yeah, I got uh I got a new a new lens. I I'm a prime guy generally if if if you went to my slash guy page that doesn't exist if I had one uh it would say he's he's a prime guy so generally fifty five well it's like a forty mil you whatever equivalent. Do doesnesn''tt care. matter. No one cares. Okay. So prime lenses where it's sync fixed focal length. That's all you get. You zoom with your feet. I don't really have zoom lenses. I never have. And I thought, you know what? I kind of want a little more this I think we talked about this too. I I wrote you like a 14 paragraph essay on uh signal a couple weeks back with my dilemma of do I get this zoom lens or do I get the two adjacent primes to what I have? So I have the range via three lenses of primes, or do I get the one that's a zoom? Ah, what do I do? Help. And I think we talked about it for a while and landed on get the zoom. Martin said, I promise it will be good. And if anything is not good, you can blame it on me. And I said, Great. I'm gonna sign up for that. So I got the the 35 to 100, which is actually a 28 to 76 equivalent full frame for those that that know or care. And it's really good. It's really, really good actually. The only thing that's been uh taking some getting used to is it's really big. Like big. See I'm glad you're saying this because if we can just rewind I don't have the file on hand here, but I remember when you brought this up, I think I made a comment about how big it would be and like talked about American can sizes and you're like, oh it's not gonna be like a big gulp, it's like a 375mm. Was I closer to the this is a gigantic oil barrel situation? Yeah, it's it's it's not like it's not like a coke can. Didn't think so. But that's okay because, I like it. So we're gonna we're gonna go with it. I'm keeping it. But it sounds like it was the wise choice, because I loved your 14 page essay, by the way. Because I think if you're going with a camera that that's that is that big, the primes are gonna be bigger than other standard system primes anyway. So why carry around two or three of these things like multiple options when you could just commit to this really bright lens that gives you more range? And let's be honest, am I gonna actually change a lens when I'm out and about? No. You've got your favorite prime. You've got the zone. I'm gonna leave it on there. I'm gonna be like, I don't wanna be bothered changing lenses right now. No. Okay, you be the judge. Here is this is the fifty five prime. Now you're holding it up to the camera. Can we screenshot when you compare the two next to each other? Just for listeners. Right. If I can if I can hold them both at the same time, that's you know, the weight. Okay, that's the fifty-five. And then God. All right, let's see here. And then Ooh. Wow. Holy moly. That is yeah, that that's big for like the equivalent focal length. Okay, can you just fit your face between those two like a little window for me, please? Here we go. Great. Big smile. 321. That's great. But it's really nice and uh I like it a lot. Well, just adding to the corner, if that's all right, I'm just gonna be very quick with this because you you brought up a lens and I wanted to bring one up. This isn't mine personally, but it's a newer one that we got through work that I've been using for a lot of different projects. And uh because we kind of work in we call ourselves the media crew or the media team. We do lots of different stories for the company's YouTube. You can be called the media corner. I was gonna say, yes. No, we're the media crew we do operate within our own media corner, but we're the media crew, right? So we're doing all different kinds of external and internal stories that aren't marketing. Like we do PR stuff, interviews with employees, explainer videos, all the history, all that sort of stuff. But we do video and photo work. And one that I thought, you know, we should get this and got approval for it and stuff was the OM System 7 to 14mm Pro F2.8. Now in 7. But this is this isn't medium format or full frame, this is Micro four thirds, so that's 14 to 28. Whew. That is wide. So normally, like I like wide lenses. I've got the Panasonic Lumix uh 9mm f1.7, which is 18 in full frame terms, which I love. That's a prime. And I love using that for certain, you know, wide angle photography or you know landscape or architecture stuff. But this one I thought we didn't really have anything at work for this vocal range. And normally I think a lot of people think to use this for something like landscape or architecture, like I said, but I have been thrilled to see how great it is for video. I don't know how many people shoot micro 43rds out there. We're using these with Lumix G92s. It's such a great focal length for moving through spaces, even taking portraits of people or uh cutaway shots and videos of people standing in a setting or context that you want to show off. I had never really appreciated just how good a wide angle lens or zoom lens in this sense is good for capturing people. Because I think more often than not, and you've seen this maybe Andrew and Jason on glass, like it's been portrait month on glass, right? And portraits people tend to think are you know beautiful creamy boker or like an 85mm equivalent lens or something like that that just makes the person pop against the background. More often than not now I'm finding that portraits are really fun to take when you have full body standing in this awesome place, whether it's natural or industrial or the stuff that we shoot. So I'm bringing it up because this is like the opposite of your system, like it's the two times crop factor and not medium format. But if you're out there, even if not you're not using a dedicated camera, maybe try taking some cool photos of people with the ultra wide lens on your phone, provided the light is good enough. You might find that it tells a bit more in the story of the person, where they are, where they're working, where they're visiting. It's just a different way of taking photos of people, and I've really been enjoying it at work. The seven doesn't feel like super fisheye at all. It or really. That's cool. And you could do this more in post if you want to in editing. But as long as you're not putting someone in the corner of the frame, if you're placing them kind of Some of us don't have an ultra wide Oh, you're on the air, aren't you? But you're gonna be on a duo soon, aren't you? I don't think that has one either, does it? I thought you just didn't photo. I don't know. Who knows what you bought at this rate? Nobody do Well that's cool. So that's it for me. Seven to fourteen I saw seven and I was like, wait, what? How? How is there a seven millimeter? That sounds like one of those crazy ones. It's like a giant like dinner plate fish eye. Yeah. But apparently not. I think there is one that's actually on lots of different platforms. I think Lauer makes a four millimeter or something which becomes eight on but it's it's so wide that they actually have warnings that make sure you're Where it captures like a hundred and eighty or a hundred yeah, those are crazy. I think it's two seventy or something. Or something like that. You just have to kind of hold it up on a stick and like be way behind it. But it's cool to try different stuff 'cause I was actually kind of inspired. I'll give Natasha credit for this because she loves taking ultra wide photos of the kids both for cute and kind of comical purposes and like pointing up at them so they look like giants over ants or other things. So you know just trying weird stuff in photography. That's what we're here for. Weird stuff. Can I show you a lens cap for far longer than is uh necessary? Go for it. Have you ever seen a lens cap like you know usually they have the little pinchy things on the top? Yeah. This has like these little this like little middle bit. And it's quite nice. I never I have I have something like that actually. So you're you're saying you pinch in the middle Yeah, it's got like this little bar in the middle with the two levers, and you just like grab it from the front and pin like it's like a it's like a jar lid almost instead of trying to grab it from the so it keeps it from falling off. Because generally I always have the issue where if you pinch them at the top, if you go to you know pull it out of your bag or whatever and it clips that top, the cap flies off down a sewer drain or something. Yeah. But this just like is flush and then you can't get it off unless you do the little the little front. Yeah, because what I've got here, I've got the one for my Olympus 75mm. So it has that midd melechanism, but you're saying it doesn't have the pinchy bits at the top. No pinchy bits at the top. It's just the bit in the middle. So like you can only those little thingies are only on the inside. So from the front, there's like no way for it to like catch on anything, which I never thought I would care about a lens cap, but I was like, oh that's actually it's actually really nice. Because my other one my other lens I didn't come with a lens cap. So I never knew that they were like that. So there you It's another one of my patented software reviews, guys. And everybody loves a software review by Andrew. Oh, we've come to expect them. Yes. You're the business. A friend of the show, Nick Tan. Nick Tan. Yeah, so he he somehow got the most overpowered new computer in the world. And he shared on the uh signal chat recently, the one prime plus yeah the one prime plus members chat, yeah. Which is a great place to be if you're a one prime plus member, jump in. One prime plus dot com. he got this Mac studio which I don't even know the specs, but just imagine the best one you can get and then three exit. He got that. And so now he's trying to figure out ways in which to to pay it back. And I think he's I think he's gonna make it rich on the app store. I think that's his plan. Oh, okay. You know, you know how that works. At least he's in early. Oh and he's But his first so he create he's created a little trial app and he shared it with me and I did a bit of bug testing for him. It is essentially look, let's let's let's be real, there's nothing new in the world, everything's a remix. We know that before. But it's a way of typing emoji. There is an app you may be familiar with Rocket. Yes. It's a bit like that. But this is by Nick, so it's better, right? Because we know Nick. Sure. And it's called EmoPick. Well and and and where where is Nick from? I mean, come on. Perth. Like that doesn't just rocket it up to the top. I don't know what does. He's not from Woolongong. Oh. That's for sure. Is that a dig at Wollongong? 'cause I won't accept it. Is it Woolongong or Illawarra? What this is what I don't understand. The Illawarra is a region, I will have you know. Well the basketball team annoys me ' theycause were Wollongong for a while, then they were Illawarra and now actually I think they're I I lose track of what they're called. They keep changing. Yeah, but you can't judge a city by basketball. I was on a fake train the other day from Sydney to Wollongong and I pulled in to the to the gong station and I saw the little blue gong sign when I came in. And you didn't feel like I'm Uncle Leo from Sample at this point. You came all the way to Mulong, you didn't know it was on it was in my browser, so I didn't really know how to like get out of the train. Yeah, fair enough. Oh I think I know the tr I think I saw a link to that train thing the other day. Yeah, it was pretty cool. It was neat. I was like, Oh, I know that place. Sorry. Anyway. Anyway. Um so Nick is created emopic. It is a way of doing text replacement emoji text replacement. Basically you type your colons like s like Slack. You type your colon, you type your descriptor for your emoji, you type and then you can choose your emoji. So let me let me show it in real time as I will in the notes app. Let's see, let's test it. Let's bug test a little together. I'm gonna does it work in notes? Let's see. I don't know. Happy person. It just did it. It did it. Wow. It actually replaced it. So you typed in the colon and then the word. What's it what's another emoji thing? Eggplant. Eggplant. Okay. It's not working now, Nick. Because that's you typed egg land Yeah, I think you have to spell it correctly. Oh there we go. There we go. There we go. Foot. How about peach? Do a foot plant should go next to peak. Just to make it weird. Peach. Yeah. Oh, that worked. Look at that. It's working. Oh, hang on. Hang on, it's got to finish it off with a basketball. Okay. Look at that. Look at that. So you've got a person with their hand up in the air, right? You've got an egg lamp that spelled egg for demonstration purposes was not changed, which shows that Nick knows what he's doing. And then followed by a real eggplant, a peach, a foot and a basketball plant. Do you think it works with all the should we do all of them? Do you think or I think so. Should we just take on faith that it works with all of them? You can choose a default skin tone. Okay. Uh good. Can I change it from colon to something else? You sure can. There's some sort of icon look like that's the real that's the thing that really matters. The icon, where is the the icon? I think he I think he needs to work on this. It's like a a chevron, an upwards pointing chevron, two chevrons on top of each other stacked. I don't quite know what he's going for with that one. So Nick. Like Stargate SG1. Like he's dialing using the dial home device with Chevron's 567. Thank you for getting we're impressed that you knew that reference. I've watched the whole show, Andrew. don't question my Stargate devotion. Have you really? Stargate SG1, all the seasons, watch Continuum, Arc of Truth. Yeah, I've watched them all. Is that the one with MacGyver? Yes. Yes, exactly. Richard Dean Anderson. Yes. Oh man. Wow. You'd think as McGyver he could've like gotten out a lot of that stuff easier 'cause he's McGyver. Like he should have just pulled out his pocket knife and fixed it. Well, that's the thing. I don't know if the US Air Force permitted the use of toothpicks and paper clips to you know get you know Jerry rig the the uh the Stargate to work. You know. Although they did put a lot of effort into the uh the like symbiosis pouches on the Goawald, you know, for the the Jafar. So where do we buy this? I don't understand where to buy it. How do I buy things from GitHub? I don't is GitHub a store? Is that a is that one of the alternative app stores in Australia? You just got to go to Nick's website at banditsdesign.com.au. He's got a software section. It's just on GitHub at the moment. There's no store. It's just free. no. It's free and open source. How am I supposed to buy it if it's free? Well, this is the problem that Nick's playing. Remember I said he needed to pay off his Mac? Yeah, this is not gonna do that. He's not worked out the monetization aspect yet. Can we buy him a coffee? Look, Nick's many things, but um you know commercial nowus, we're still working on that with him. Okay. Lucky he's got you and all of your own. I know a guy in Perth that can put numbers into little boxes, so I'll I'll hook him up with that. And I think Nick's taking requests. I think he's looking for things. he wants to build apps. So I got loads of I got loads of issues. So should I just drop those right in the One Prime Plus chat and he'll just build a few. Yeah, he's taking requests. Whatever. It's like a it's like an app DJ. Oh, even better. Love it. He's an app DJ. That's so good. Okay, sweet. Media corner. First of all, I don't know who's aware of the Avalanches. You know the Avalanches you two? Australian electronica? yeah, that it that z so that one song with that one riff. Um The Boy Needs therapy. Is the avalanches by you two? You're thinking about frontier psychologists uh psychiatrists, sorry, Andrew. Is that them? That boy needs therapy. Is that them? Yeah. Yeah, that's them. Is that the one that came on my iPod? Wait, I'm confused. No, you're talking about Songs of Innocence by U2. Yeah, is that what we're talking about? no, I'm talking about like an Australian electronic group. Oh, you said U2. They have like a cult. So I was okay. Got it. Did I? Oh no, I mean like U2 like the people I'm speaking to right now. Oh not like Bono. 'Cause you had your finger up like pointing to the sky, so I thought you were talking about Bono. No, I think I meant like Y O U space T W O. Listeners can go back and correct me. Got it. Anyway, we're not talking about U two, we're talking about the alphabet. That boy needs therapy. Yeah, I wanted to bring them up because, you know, they're really quirky. They've uh got quite a f you know, cult following. But um they've just released a new album which I've really been enjoying called No Bad Memories. And it runs for 52 minutes and there's like 34 tracks. And I wanted to bring it up because if you are in any way nostalgic about technology, right, listening to this show, they've taken their approach to fusing so many cool different samples this time things like ad jingles, tech tones, and alerts from computers and stuff with like funk and soul music, but they're like lots of almost like track fragments, and you should check this out. It's like a really interesting album, and all the tracks kind of bleed in together, and I don't know, it's just really odd. And if you are in any way feeling smothered or like you're drowning in today's digital environment, it's almost like holding up a mirror to the digital noise and weirdness of today, but with their own brand of cool music. Check it out, no bad memories. Look at the album cover. The artwork has an iPod holding hands with a floppy disc. Look at the album cover. Yes. Is this available on not Crapple Music? As far as I'm aware, I actually bought it. From iTunes, as they call it. Wow. Is it available not on the Apple platform? I'm pretty sure. I just put the link in there that I thought you would want. That was the that opened up Apple Music. That's the link I wanted. Yeah. Well there you go. I got one of it right uh gross. One of them right for U2. Thank you. I will go No I don't want U2 anywhere near my music library. And I also thought it was quite funny. If you go to their YouTube channel, for example, you'll see that one of the clips uh for the songs uh actually features and he's a collaborator with the on the album for some reason, which is hilarious. Uh Haley Joel Osmond, you know, who sees dead people, the child star. Like he's had a bit of a resurgence with his adult career and he's like a delivery driver in this clip, uh driving through Japan, seemingly. The song is I give everything I have to you. And I thought you might like that joke. It's just like I'm rocking out in the car. Yeah, like miming to the song. Nice. I'm looking at let's see, they've got Instagram, gross, TikTok, gross, Facebook, gross, Twitter, gross. That's just what people do, isn't it, unfortunately? SoundCloud, meh, Spotify, gross, uh, Apple Music Gross Okay Store. I mean you could probably buy the C D if you want. That's what I'm looking for. I bought it digital. That's literally what I'm gonna want the C D. Here we go. I know I'm Bandcamp would be my first choice. All right, I'll um it's added to my list. It's good fun. Like it's funky, it's electronic, it's confusing, it's frantic. I'm intrigued by the fact that it's fifty-four minutes and thirty-four songs. That's crazy. Yeah. Like it has the potential to piss you off. Because things are very short, but they blew if you listen to it as an album, right? it's things bleeding into each other. As Bono intended. Exactly. Next up, I just wanted to share the uh the wonderful experience. I took Mac to see episode five, The Empire Strikes Back live in concert with the Sim Sydney Symphony Orchestra yesterday. Oh love that. That's it. And um I just wanted to say if you're out there and you can watch like retro movies or things performed live in concert, I know you've done this at least, Jason. Oh yeah, it's the best. It's so fun. And it's on for you young and old.'ve got old people dressing up, young kids who barely understand what's going on dressed as Darth Vader, like doing fist bumps with stormtroopers and foyers. It's great. Unless it's Blade Runner, which is hella boring, it's really fun. I'm gonna just pretend that you said it's not hella boring. I'm disgusting. Kinda kidding. But yes, the whole idea of doing movies with the orchestra is very fun. Yeah. And uh I took him to see a new hope last year and he enjoyed it, but Yes, I have shown it. And he has internalized them with great prevental dialogue. Is this the pre-edited versions or this was the post-edited versions or both? They do this what you would call the special editions. So they continue playing the music during the entire credits and you can see at the end it's like uh 1980, 1997. And if you had any concerns about this presentation, please call 1-800-THS. Oh, okay. Yeah. I did I did have concerns actually. Martin, I just want to give you a warning. I'm currently going through a phase where Benji who's ten is trying to explain to me that episode uh three I think it is or is it two? Revenge of the Sith. The one with the one with the fight at the end. That's three, isn't it? Yeah. Number three. He's trying to tell me that that is the best Star Wars movie. Oh you poor I think Phantom Menace has cringy moments. I think Attack of the Clones goes full on cringe and then Revenge of the Sith actually brings it all to a close. It's acceptable to go to number I keep telling him I keep telling him that it's an unacceptable movie and I will not watch any of those one, two, three again. He's like, No, what if again? I'm like, No, I've got I've got one life, I'm not gonna I've already watched it once, I'm not gonna waste more of my precious life on those movies. No. The originals are the best, but if you had to pick the best of those three, it's Revenge of the Sith. Benji, your your father has few years left on this earth. He can't be using those watching episode three. He just can't like no. Exactly. Thank you. Spend your technical prequel time on Rogue One. Yes. Yes. There you go. This pr probably will affect absolutely no one, but I went on a or Valerie and I both went on this little excursion to Mount St. Helena uh Mount St. Helens, sorry, in um Washington, right above us, and to the south of it, there is something called Ape Cave. And you're like, what? Is that like a cave full of apes? No, it's not, actually. It has nothing to do with apes at all in any possible way. But it is a lava tube. I think it's like the third or second longest lava tube in um North America, I believe. Wow. It's like three miles, two and a half miles, three miles long of this just you go down into this lava tube and you go down like almost three miles. And it was just such a crazy, weird, surreal experience to be in the d absolute darkest possible place you could ever be. We did the we did the the the what was it called? The um the sky park thing. I talked about this in the past where you go and it's just like very, very dark, so you can see the sky really well. But like obviously, it's still some amount of light. This is in a cave two miles horizontally under the ground. So you have all your lanterns and flashlights and everything, but you turn those off, and it is just the darkest experience you could have. It was indescribable of just the amount of dark that can exist that you don't realize. And because it's so far underground, it's a constant 42 degrees Fahrenheit all year. So middle of winter, middle of summer, wow, same degrees all the time, which was also weird to think about. That in summer you're like, oh, this feels great. And in the winter, you're like, this also feels great. Um so yeah, very cool thing to do. We randomly found out about it from one of our neighbors that were just they were talking about it and we're like, a what now? And so we went up and did it. It was very, very cool so if someone happens to be around Washington area go do it it's really it costs you a whole two dollars to go do it so wow get on it and you took a photo on your iPhone that we can see on glass. Yeah. Like you can link to that in the show. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. It's it it was just really, really neat. And just to see the terrain and everything change as you go down, and you'll see like little pockets in the on the wall where you shine your flashlight in and it just explodes with like shiny little gems and things in there. Like it felt it felt fake. Wow. It felt like this was like a Disney thing that was made that someone made as like an attraction. But turns out good old Mother Earth delivers again. Wow. So it's like, yeah, what are we doing on the weekend? Yeah, we're gonna go to Mount St. Helens, known for being a very calm place. Um that doesn't have any issues. And we're going to go into the lava tube. Yeah. Wow. Crazy. Cool. Yeah. I don't think I don't think Australia has lava tubes at all. No, we're very much in the middle of a tectonic plate with no activity. And I'm grateful for that. I've titled it a very short story about helpful Siri. I don't believe it. So we're driving to a restaurant to eat dinner. Yep. And on our way I see another restaurant that I've never seen before. I'm like, oh, what is what is that place? Hmm. And so I pop up I grab my phone, I press the little button on the side and I tell it, you know, remind me about this Mexican grill on Prescott Street and it does this little spinny thing and it says, Oh yeah, do you mean Casa Madeira on blah blah blah or this other one on blah blah blah? Because apparently there were two on this street that I knew nothing about. I was like, oh, the first one. And it's like, got it. Put it in your thing. Reminder. Casa Madeira. Put the address. Put the whole everything. I was like, wow. That was incredibly helpful. I was very surprised. So one in the win column for for Siri. So it actually understood something, helped you and didn't cause any trouble. No, it knew exactly what I wanted. It knew location-wise where I was, I guess, and said, Oh yeah, you're on Prescott, there's these two places, do you mean this one or that one? And I didn't even say the name of it, I just said, Oh, give me the first one. And it was like, all right, cool, here you go. I was like, what? That's pretty cool. Yeah. This is taking me all the way back to twenty eleven when Scott Forstall first demonstrated Siri. Like it like it's supposed to do something for you. That was that was one of the very first times where I've triggered one of those and was like, oh yeah, that's what a computer is actually supposed to do. Is help me. Wow. I didn't have to fumble around. Like obviously I could have said, hey, can you, you know, Valerie, can you write this down or whatever? But if I was by myself, just to be able to do that, it was I know, twenty twenty six. Who knew? Crazy times. Yeah, so there you go. That was my very short story of a helpful series. Hey Siri. You gonna give an instruction? No, I just thought it'd wake everyone's devices up. I don't wouldn't actually tell it to like go order food or anything. That would be rude. No, you just have to do the Steve Jobs thing. It's like, you know, order four thousand Starbucks coffees or something. Order pizza. Oh yeah, yeah. I don't want to get I I want to keep our five star rating. Yeah. Order me 10,000 venti pumpkin spice lattes or whatever it is. Our clean rating and our five-star rating. I want to keep both of those, so no thanks to Martin. Ugh, sorry. I've I've been bleeping them for ages. Andrew started that. Ah just got lazy. Three, two, one, stop.
