- 0:00Speaker 1: Johnny Kats The Morning News ninety three WIBC. My name
- 0:04Speaker 1: is Craig Collins, filling in, thrilled to be with you.
- 0:07Speaker 1: A bunch of stuff to talk about all over the place.
- 0:09Speaker 1: I want that we will rock you. Get it back there.
- 0:12Speaker 2: It is there.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It is awesome. Thank you, Carl wanted to wait for
- 0:16Speaker 1: it all right. Anyway, Queen is awesome. It is time
- 0:20Speaker 1: for our Boer remodeling popcorn moment. This is something that's
- 0:24Speaker 1: brought to you by Boer. Look them up. They can
- 0:25Speaker 1: fix all kinds of stuff in your house. But let's
- 0:28Speaker 1: go ahead and get this going, all right. I should
- 0:33Speaker 1: just hit play on the audio, but I can't help
- 0:35Speaker 1: wanting to contextualize Stephen Colbert in his stupidity. Two nights
- 0:39Speaker 1: ago he lied, and then last night he decided to
- 0:42Speaker 1: lie some more. That's what I'm going to give you
- 0:44Speaker 1: so far herey.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I said my piece. Last night, we made some jokes.
- 0:47Speaker 2: That's what they pay me for. And I was ready
- 0:49Speaker 2: to let the whole thing go until a few hours
- 0:52Speaker 2: ago when my group chat blowed up because without every row,
- 0:57Speaker 2: Mike Goars to Me Corporation put out this press release,
- 1:02Speaker 2: this statement. Now, this is a surprisingly small piece of
- 1:05Speaker 2: paper considering how many butts it's trying to cover.
- 1:09Speaker 1: This is a surprisingly dumb segment, considering how much it's
- 1:12Speaker 1: trying to cover your butt. You're pretending as though you're
- 1:14Speaker 1: still fighting a power that you weren't fighting at all
- 1:17Speaker 1: in it. They say.
- 1:18Speaker 2: The Late Show was not prohibited by CBS from broadcasting
- 1:21Speaker 2: the interview with Representative James Tellerico provided legal guidance that
- 1:25Speaker 2: the broadcast could trigger the FCC equal time rule for
- 1:28Speaker 2: two other candidates, including Representative Jasmine Crockett, and presented options
- 1:32Speaker 2: for how the equal time for other candidates could be fulfilled.
- 1:35Speaker 2: The Lay Show decided to present the interview through its
- 1:38Speaker 2: YouTube channel with on air promotion on the broadcast, rather
- 1:41Speaker 2: than potentially providing the equal time options. Now, clearly this
- 1:45Speaker 2: statement was written by and I'm guessing four lawyers.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Hi here, I got to stop right there. You know
- 1:51Speaker 1: what's so amazing about this? He goes on to say
- 1:54Speaker 1: that he's had Crockett on a show before. John Cornyn,
- 1:57Speaker 1: the Republican who's the current person in the office that
- 2:01Speaker 1: these people are running for, also would have had to
- 2:03Speaker 1: been provided time on the show. The incumbent would have
- 2:06Speaker 1: had to be interviewed for equal time. That made Colbert mad.
- 2:10Speaker 1: But here's the thing. He goes on to say, like
- 2:12Speaker 1: I've had krockodd on, all of this is crap. There's
- 2:15Speaker 1: a reason that radio shows, television shows, all kinds of
- 2:19Speaker 1: broadcast things don't have candidates on during election cycles, and
- 2:24Speaker 1: it's because of equal time. You can have a person
- 2:27Speaker 1: on who's in an office, you know, when they're not
- 2:30Speaker 1: running for anything. If someone's not up for reelection, you
- 2:34Speaker 1: can put that person on television and talk to them.
- 2:36Speaker 1: You can have Jasmine Crocodden when she's not running for things.
- 2:40Speaker 1: This is very different. Colbert's pompous stupidity is incredible with
- 2:44Speaker 1: this topic or with this you know, whole thing. It's
- 2:47Speaker 1: just amazing to watch him be such a manipulative piece
- 2:51Speaker 1: of crap because he's pretending there's a bad guy that
- 2:54Speaker 1: doesn't exist, because of how angry he is that he
- 2:56Speaker 1: got fired. This is why people who get fired from television, radio,
- 3:01Speaker 1: anything don't get a chance to say goodbye to their audience.
- 3:05Speaker 1: When a lot of people, myself included, would do a
- 3:07Speaker 1: respectful job in that opportunity. You wouldn't let anger be
- 3:12Speaker 1: at the forefront of the way you conduct yourself, you'd
- 3:14Speaker 1: want to talk about something else. So many people in
- 3:18Speaker 1: situations like this don't get that opportunity because of the
- 3:22Speaker 1: Stephen Colberts who ruin it for everyone by being complete
- 3:26Speaker 1: pieces of crap when they behave the way that they're
- 3:28Speaker 1: behaving right now that he's behaving right now, and all
- 3:31Speaker 1: the things he's saying. But it's crazy. His initial excuse
- 3:35Speaker 1: to not put taal Rico on television because he would
- 3:38Speaker 1: have had to put John Cornan on TV, who was
- 3:40Speaker 1: a Republican, was ridiculous to anyone who understands this. And
- 3:44Speaker 1: he's counting on you not He's counting on you being
- 3:47Speaker 1: dumb enough to not know the rules, And I'm not
- 3:50Speaker 1: trying to offend you and not willing to look into
- 3:53Speaker 1: these rules, which are very easy to look up to
- 3:55Speaker 1: understand what actually is occurring. He wants you to be uninformed,
- 3:59Speaker 1: because that's how these people win. They win by making
- 4:03Speaker 1: certain jokes or certain statements to uninformed people and encouraging
- 4:07Speaker 1: those uninformed people to take action without understanding what it
- 4:11Speaker 1: is they're acting about. But anyway, I'm just I'm so
- 4:13Speaker 1: annoyed with everything Colbert in this that i had to
- 4:16Speaker 1: play it and had to rant about it as the
- 4:18Speaker 1: popcorn moment. There is other stuff, though, I do want
- 4:21Speaker 1: to play another thing because I do like to have
- 4:23Speaker 1: fun in this segment before we take a break. I
- 4:26Speaker 1: love this audio. A private investigator by the name of
- 4:30Speaker 1: Brandon went on TikTok to demonstrate that a person at
- 4:35Speaker 1: a job was lying about an injury. I'll play this
- 4:38Speaker 1: audio and then we can all react to it. But
- 4:40Speaker 1: the guy found this employee who said that they needed
- 4:45Speaker 1: to go on you know, short term disability and they
- 4:48Speaker 1: were snowboarding, well, apparently injured. That's not going to work out.
- 4:52Speaker 1: You're not going to be able to claim that you're
- 4:53Speaker 1: injured at work and then still capable of snowboarding. Here
- 4:56Speaker 1: we go, I'm a private investigator for it's fall at
- 5:00Speaker 1: super Mountain and the guy's claiming an injury and he's
- 5:04Speaker 1: here snowboarding. So and there he goes, completely lying about
- 5:09Speaker 1: his injury. His employer will love that. Yeah, the employer
- 5:12Speaker 1: will love that. This guy is gonna get a raise.
- 5:14Speaker 1: The private investigator dude who works for a company that
- 5:17Speaker 1: somehow tracked down the guy that's snowboarding. What do we
- 5:19Speaker 1: think of a guy who lies at a job, claims
- 5:22Speaker 1: you're injured, and then unapologetically goes out and has fun.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I slipped a disk and now I'm going spnowboarding. I'm
- 5:27Speaker 3: gonna take on the mountain. What's the injury? That'd be
- 5:31Speaker 3: my first question, really, But when you go snowboarding, it
- 5:34Speaker 3: doesn't matter what's in that something's going to be involved
- 5:37Speaker 3: in that snowboarding accident as you make your way down
- 5:40Speaker 3: the mountain. And I don't think I would let this
- 5:43Speaker 3: person through the door with it. Now, I feel like,
- 5:46Speaker 3: give me your keys, it's done, or change the locks
- 5:48Speaker 3: or something.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Absolutely No.
- 5:49Speaker 2: No.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I love that you said what's the injury because that's
- 5:51Speaker 1: something that went through my brain too. But snowboarding uniquely,
- 5:55Speaker 1: you know stressful sport that there's no injury that you
- 5:58Speaker 1: could claim makes you incapable of work but capable of snowboarding.
- 6:02Speaker 1: There's nothing that's going to be no, check both of
- 6:04Speaker 1: those boxes. So I just love everything. Have you snowboarded before? Yeah, Matty,
- 6:08Speaker 1: yes I have. Are you good at it?
- 6:10Speaker 2: No?
- 6:10Speaker 3: I was awful. I actually fell one time and it
- 6:13Speaker 3: hits another snowboarder in the head with my snowboard. Oh yeah,
- 6:18Speaker 3: it was really It always traumatic.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Man.
- 6:20Speaker 3: It was up in South at the same three rivers
- 6:23Speaker 3: like decades decades ago, and the students freads just surrounded
- 6:29Speaker 3: me that want to fight, like I'm sorry. Then I
- 6:34Speaker 3: just went down the hill and my friends and I
- 6:35Speaker 3: we packed up our stuff and left. But yeah, yeah,
- 6:38Speaker 3: the tip of the board Christ his skull, he hit
- 6:42Speaker 3: his skull and he was just laying there. It was traumatic.
- 6:45Speaker 1: He was okay, was he was? He okay? Did get
- 6:47Speaker 1: up there?
- 6:47Speaker 3: Yeah? And I didn't get up. I think his friends
- 6:50Speaker 3: helped him up after we left up. That's what I happened.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Ye, fun When was it? When did this happen?
- 6:55Speaker 2: Oh?
- 6:55Speaker 3: I must have been early twenties, so like eighty years
- 6:58Speaker 3: ago or something. I mean, it was a long time ago.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I'm surprised.
- 7:01Speaker 1: This is the first time. The reason I asked the
- 7:03Speaker 1: reason I ask you this is because I might have
- 7:06Speaker 1: been there. What I love about your story is that
- 7:09Speaker 1: if you were twenty or early twenties, then I would
- 7:12Speaker 1: have been a teenager and I went to that place
- 7:15Speaker 1: you're talking about in South Bend, and I used to
- 7:17Speaker 1: snowboard and sirt and uh water not water ski ski there.
- 7:21Speaker 1: So yes, I used to go to the same place.
- 7:24Speaker 1: I hope I was there. I hope you hit me
- 7:27Speaker 1: and it wasn't me, But I wish you would hit
- 7:29Speaker 1: me in the head with this man, how crazy would
- 7:30Speaker 1: that have been?
- 7:31Speaker 3: Craig, thanks for not kicking my ass. I really appreciate it.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Man, No, I couldn't. I would have been like thirteen
- 7:36Speaker 1: at the time. I wouldn't have been able to make
- 7:37Speaker 1: you where.
- 7:37Speaker 3: I was petrified. I mean, you know, I'm not going
- 7:39Speaker 3: to I'm not going to make it sound like that's
- 7:41Speaker 3: a tough guy, right, I mean I felt bad.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I am this guy.
- 7:44Speaker 3: You don't hit somebody with your snowboard and.
- 7:47Speaker 1: You snowow Here's the thing I was on.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Yes, yes, he says, I was on the mountain I
- 7:51Speaker 3: shouldn't have been on. It was like one of the
- 7:53Speaker 3: more advanced mountains, and I was still stand the bunny Yeah. Yeah,
- 7:56Speaker 3: I didn't want to do the bunny hill anymore because
- 7:57Speaker 3: it's called Bundy Hill.
- 7:59Speaker 1: You know, right, you don't do that. You gotta do it.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I've snowboarded and I've skied at that exact place that
- 8:03Speaker 1: you're talking about around the time you would have been there.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Wasn't very good either. The snow was terrible make excuses now, and.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Some of it was artificial. They had to throw it
- 8:13Speaker 1: on there because he didn't always snow enough, so it
- 8:15Speaker 1: was awful. Yeah, but it's all we had, Matt, It's
- 8:18Speaker 1: all we had at that time. Right, we got to
- 8:21Speaker 1: take a break. I hope you hit my friend with
- 8:22Speaker 1: a snowboard. I hope that's what happened. I'm gonna look
- 8:25Speaker 1: into that everund Matt bears. Yeah, he's been broken since
