- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: people who came from the culture that she did, which was like raised in a super, super strict religious home in purity culture.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: And so when she got married, she was like, wasn't like, you can't just flip a switch, right?
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: So she was like, sex is bad, sex is bad, sex is bad, and then she gets married and all of a sudden sex is good.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the be it till you see it podcast, where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also Logan, prize instructor and fitness business coach.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: I've trained thousands of people around the world, and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: My friends, action brings clarity, and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: Each week my guests will bring bold, executable, intrinsic, and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it till you see it.

- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so excited about it.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the good things.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about a lot of stuff.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: We don't all play.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about sex.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we didn't know that time about positions or things like that.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: We just like talked about the things that people don't talk about.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, you know what you talked about more than anything else was communication.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, we did.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and you know, it's really interesting.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: Her book is so timely at the time recording this.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: in my fucking Instagram feed.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: Some stupid man decided to talk about stinky coaches.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: And your coachie needs to be Christian if you don't want your husband to cheat on you.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: The fucking bullshit that people lie to women about.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like, just bold face fucking lie.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: There's no such thing as a Christian kuchi go fuck yourself, that isn't saying.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: It also also also, I don't care what you believe.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: It is never your fucking fault of someone cheats on you.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's never your fault.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's always about them.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: There's something going on there.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's not your fault.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: Period.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: I was incensed after watching that video and there's a special place in hell for that past there.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there really is.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: And then I just listened to an interview about some girls who are like raised in purity culture.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I forgot and a lot of the shit that I was like told.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: And now, and then I read, I've been reading her book.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, holy fuck.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's a wonder.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's a wonder women anywhere are having actual sex.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's not painful.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: So anyways, go read her book.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: Go listen to that episode.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about some good stuff in a second.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: I promise.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: I promise.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: I do think that the world does get better at some point.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: I have to believe in that.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: Today is September fourth, twenty twenty five and it is national wildlife day and on national wildlife day hold on I put up America large national wildlife day every year on September fourth
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's an opportunity for everyone to step back, take a deep breath and think about all that surrounds us.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: It is inspiring to consider preservation and conservation efforts that work to improve in the natural world.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: There remains so much to learn as heavy as Henry David throw once wrote in Wildness is the preservation of the world.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, but we couldn't agree more.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: So let's take a closer look at today.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Here, yeah.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: Go spend some time out in a preserve near you.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: We have a preserve near us.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: Do it's really close.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: We actually have the wetlands.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: And then if we go up two hours, there's a really cool preserve, we can go camping at people, go fishing at there's a fucking lake.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: There's one lake right here, like a couple blocks from us.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, there is another preserve.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like literally in the city, there's a preserve.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: So go find a preserve near you.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I know people like to get mad about the coyotes or the mountain lions that live there.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: They were their first.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: So take that in and second.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's there's just something like it's kind of cool that the worst with this wildlife that we live and go to a zoo.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, make sure it's a good one, but like take it in, take in the wildlife because one, it's going away and it would be the opposite of wildlife.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: Baby, but I bet you, I bet you some of them don't eat to wildlife.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, I'm, you know, go camping.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: They can be well intentioned.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: So what do you want them to do?
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: Go camping?
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, go camping.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: This wasn't very clear.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess take a moment to consider how you're going to preserve the wildlife near you and conserve efforts, like your conservation efforts.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know, can you stop putting plastic straws near, you know, water like the ocean and things like that.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: The turtles are choking.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: You guys.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: So let's not, let's not choke any turtles.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's so sad.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's so sad.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: You can't watch those things.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: So any.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: Our neighbor has a tortoise.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Tortimer.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: Tortimer.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: Tortoise.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: Tortoise.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: Tortoise.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: Tortoise.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: Tortoise.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like fifteen or something.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: But he's not even a desert tortoise.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: He's an African something.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: Tortoise.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I remember the name.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of preservation out here in Vegas.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: So the desert tortoise is about to go extinct.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: There's actually we're having some huge problems with them and I have enough space for them because they actually need flat desert land to crawl on.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: And then of course flat desert land is whatever wants to develop because
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: What's it extinct or we're just destroying their habitat?
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: We're destroying their habitat.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm sure if this is their only environment, but yeah, like the Las Vegas Valley, you know, is expanding.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: They're expecting something like four hundred thousand people to move here in the next decade.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: And so they're they're slapping.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: The lack of rain is not deterring anyone.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: So, while they're slapping together all these expansions all around the city, and basically they're driving out the, they're changing the desert landscape, which is driving away.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: And the door, the desert tortoise can't live near the mountains because they don't climb rocks.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: They just walk on the flat desert.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: Also, also I learned this fun fact.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like they have, they have territories, right?
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like you can have two male territory.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: And they need to have a burrow during the hot part of the day.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: And if they don't know the area, you just can't pick up a tortoise and like move it to another part of the desert.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: They got to know where to burrow.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: So anyways, these are important things to know.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: And so if you live in an area that's got some wildlife
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: maybe take it upon yourself to find out what's going on and your local city council meetings and who's trying to develop those areas and yell and scream because it's really cathartic and you can save a wildlife animal near you.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: We are we've been recently on the screaming to keep Las Vegas loud so downtown loud so you know it's fun it's fun to be hard of things in the community to like take care of other people okay enough about this day coming up
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, like now we're actually literally so we're in the end route by the way, just that we just landed.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: No, we've been here a day.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: We're in Scotland.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: We are actually on the very top of Scotland where as far as we can go and because that's because we're in take a little vacation.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to see some interesting Scottish games and then we're going to drive all the way down to Essex where we're teaching for two days.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: the movement base, and there might be a couple spots left in the workshops, and then we're going up till leads to teach there on the weekend in September.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: So this is all happening in September, September, September, September, April, ninth and tenth, and then thirteenth and thirteenth and thirteenth.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, it's a Tuesday and Wednesday.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't actually remember the specific dates.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a thirteenth and a Saturday and a Sunday.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: And go to opc.me slash UK for the specifics.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and don't miss out because we're not coming back.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: All right, not any time soon.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: Last time was two years ago.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, you know, but yeah, we're never going to be back.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: No, we'll come back.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: Then we're going to come for two days.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: And then we're going to go to Polis on tour and Chicago land two days two weeks two weeks two weeks two weeks two weeks and then we go to then we're going to just three weeks.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: Okay Chicago land and the time that we're recording this we heard it was seventy five percent sold out.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably changed but I think there's I think they're early bird ends next week if there's any room and they will be in Cambodia and the time you're hearing this you've got a month you can still sign up you can still buy a plane to get like there's still time there's definitely still time I'm still having conversations with people and there's room so Rose nest retreats dot com
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: PS, if you have ever wanted to walk around with elephants, we go to an elephant sanctuary after the retreat is over.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's an extra curricular activity after that we love to do.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: And so we always stay an extra day and we also go to a waterfall which is super magical.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe that's the thing that you're just like really that excited.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that's what you want to do.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: So I just want to throw those out there that you can join us for those in addition to the retreat.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: Go to crowsnestertreets.com.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: Browsnestertreets.com and come join us.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and we're as a time of recording this.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: We're also trying to lock in a day of teaching and Singapore.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: So my Singaporeans, hello, we are coming your way.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: And then we're going to go see the botanical garden.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: So if you want to walk around the gardens with us, you can.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: Then December is our winter tour and we're going to tell people asking us if we're going to Texas and things like New York and things like that.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it's in the winter tour.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: So go to opc.me slash events to get on the wait list for that because if you're on the wait list, you hear right away.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: And let me tell you when we announce our tours, some cities will sell out, especially on the winter tour.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: So, because we've been doing the winter tour the longest and people are really excited about it.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: So, OPC.me slash events.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: You're not wrong.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: Before we get into, I know.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: We went into bed after announcing it and woke up two cities were sold out.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: Two cities were sold out in less than twenty four hours.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: Last year.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: All right, Brad, we have an audience question to answer.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we do.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, this is really for you.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, would you like to read the question?
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: At GP Pilate Studio, that's Green Point Pilate Studio.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, Alan.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: on YouTube asks about how to make your own Pilate Sandbag video.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, Brad, what is the diameter of the rope in court?
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: The pair of court that we use, what's the diameter of it?
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so this is on a video that we may less than I made called how to make your own Pilate Sandbag.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: Right, and if you're familiar with the sandbag, it's the bar, and then there's the the cord, and then there's the weights, and you can twist it back and forth.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: And so we actually made one our own and we showed you how to make your own.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're interested in that, it's on YouTube.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: Great question here, Alan.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, GP Pilates Studio on YouTube.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: So it doesn't matter really what the diameter is.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want like, you know, an inch thick piece of rope that would be just annoying and bulky.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: But what I use was just like your typical like cheapo bought it at the hardware store nylon cord.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think it was like, ten bucks for a hundred meters of it or something like that.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and they they wrap it around that little H looking thing and you just spin it around it.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, you know, I don't know, like, it's okay.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: There was no real diameters.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: I found it.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: I found it.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: Three, eights of an inch.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: But honestly, if you get a quarter of an inch, it's fine.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I wouldn't, I probably like at a half an inch or an inch thick rope.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: It would just be annoying because you're twisting it around this.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it would it would become like a spool and that's just silly.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: So smaller is fine that the reality is it just needs to support, you know, a pound or two pounds of weight.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: So we're not we're not trying to lift a house here.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty sure it's a three eight to an inch.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: That looks like what we got and also.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: because I remember it fits like right through if you just drill a hole.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I just see.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just took a, you know, a quarter inch drill bit right through the middle and then I just threaded that through.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: So as long as you can get the rope through, it's fine.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: That's really, you know, that all that matters.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love it.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: So you can all make your own sandbag.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: We did it for the accessories deck, which is now shipping worldwide.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we actually did, we showed you how to build three different pieces of equipment.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: One was they push up handles, one was the
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: the two by four, and then finally was this one, this bloody sandbag.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, great question.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for that.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: If you have a question, you can text us at three one oh nine oh five five five three four or you can submit your question or you win two be it pa dot com slash questions be it pa dot com slash questions and
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: We kind of need you to submit y'all.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: So we have some wins to talk about on our Friday pot.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: So let's go.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go right now.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: Pull out your phone.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: Go to be at pod.com slash questions.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: Be at pod.com slash questions.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's enough of that.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: You know how easy it went is.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: This is how you knew it.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: So I have been trying to figure out.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: I love my I love my red light mask and neck when I got them.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: I was using them really regularly and we got really busy.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: And I, everything else, all my other habits remember like, good, but that one has just been hard to fit back in.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: And I sell the dermatologist and he's like, yeah, my wife uses hers every night and I said, oh, when he was like, about four bed and you know, so she washes her face and she's and she was better.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, oh, I can do that.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: So I have done it four nights in a row.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right before bed I just put them on my face and I lay there and you know what's crazy is like I actually'm getting some really good deep sleep Like I'm speaking really well and I think it's that there's a time before I fall asleep that I'm just laying there waiting to go to sleep So that's a way like it's on for like ten minutes Yeah, it goes off on its own so even if I fell asleep with them like I wouldn't want to do that, but I could fall asleep with them laying on my face and like you know Yeah, yeah, yeah easy that was I just came with a win on space.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you can do it too.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love it.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, stick around.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be right back because we're going to dig into this juicy conversation that we have with Dr. Celeste Hallbrook and also celebratory.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: It was really awesome.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll be right back.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: Now let's talk about Dr. Celeste Hallbrook.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she's no joke.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: Dr. Celest Hallbrook is a sex educator with a PhD in health behaviors and a post-grad emphasis in sexual behaviors.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: Jail's women and couples overcome challenges, heal from shame and create better, more fulfilling sex lives.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: Her new book, Missionary Position, a slightly irreverent guide to sex after purity culture tackles the complex interaction of sex, religion, and personal freedom.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: So less is known for her practical down-to-earth approach that makes conversations about sex accessible and empowering and honestly not awkward.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: But she's just really good at making it just, it's just a conversation.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't have to be the silly thing.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: So for some reason, it's like, it feels like we revert to sixth grade whenever this conversation comes out.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, everyone like, he's in the corner.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's so weird.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: And you might not be doing it out loud, but you're kind of cringing a little on the inside.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: She just takes that whole thing away.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: And like, you know, I mean, it was, it was, she's married very mad.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: A fact that matter of factly talking about having Dildo's in her social media posts.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's like, oh, okay, yeah, there's that.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, she's not being like risk-a or weird about the conversation.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: She's specifically serving people who came from the culture that she did, which was like raised in a super, super strict religious home in purity culture.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: And so when she got married,
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: She for like it wasn't like you can't flip a switch right so she was like sex is bad sex is bad sex is bad sex is bad and then she gets married and all of a sudden sex is good yeah that's not how it works in the body and she had to to tackle that yeah definitely listen to her first interview on the show because it actually goes into that if and and I think it's really interesting I think like
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: Even if you weren't rates in a super like if you if I say purity culture and you don't think I don't like that doesn't mean anything to you.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_00]: And you never had you never had a ring on your finger that was turned one different way and you were like but throw through your father and tell and tell someone's picked for you.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: Laph had that ring guy.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: That laugh it's like us it's like a sardonic shutter.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I know because like we thought that was normal.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: Totally though.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: Did you read the book I kiss dating goodbye?
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: Josh Josh something around.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's come out and said everything I taught was wrong.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm almost positive.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: We have a guy in the book and then I think he got like ostracized from the chair.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: One of the one of the purity culture dudes and I think it's kissed dating guy.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: Goodbye guy has come out and said his book was extremely hurt harmful and he doesn't believe that anymore.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: Joshua Harris.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_00]: So so thank you Josh for doing that.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_00]: But like
- 16:43[SPEAKER_00]: For the woman who are listening, if you have friends in your life, if you weren't raised like this, who literally were told that like, that is the worst thing they could do is to, as to at all make a man lust.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: If you did anything that can make a man lust, you were causing him to go to hell.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: So you were like, do everything you can to like, not be attractive and not be feminine.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: And then you get married and you're supposed to just be sexy.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: and have sex and like make babies and you know, doctors and many women, they actually go through this painful experience with sex.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe you don't have that, but also you don't actually know, and she talks a lot about communication.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: How do you want to feel?
- 17:24[SPEAKER_00]: Like you were never taught that sex could be something that you could enjoy a lot of women are taught not taught that you could enjoy sex.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: I just went down the rabbit hole.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: He, twenty years after reading the book, I casted a goodbye Joshua Harris left the church he was pastoring, divorces wife and made a document, a documentary about the repercussions of the book.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I want to watch documentary.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's called, I survived, I casted a goodbye.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we're watching that.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's tonight's show.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: And it's really interesting because I had a very interesting childhood where there was definitely purity culture at the church.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: At the church camps I went to.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: My parents tried to do these things.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: And then also my parents would kick us out of the house so they could have sex.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_00]: So like sex was a conversation that they had.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_00]: My grandparents would talk about how they had sex a lot.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_00]: So like I, it's not like I, I lived a, I knew that Camari couples had sex, right?
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: So but it's just the reason that I bring this up is I actually think a lot of women
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: Whoa, sorry.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: You good?
- 18:25[SPEAKER_01]: I found it.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody pulled it off of YouTube.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't have the rights to it.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so it was on YouTube for years.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still down the rabbit hole, y'all.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: This is Brad's now two online.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: I went to his own website and I found a post a blog post from May.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_01]: So two months ago.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: Saying, I don't know why they pulled it off of YouTube.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: It used to be here.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: Here's a link to it that was on a pirated website.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how long it's going to be available, but you can still watch it.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: So I can.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_00]: We just need to get back to the Celeste.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'm focused.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm in.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I just am really obsessed with what Dr. Celeste is doing because I just know too many women who whether or not you had a ring and you're we're married to like dating your dad and tell you we're dating someone else.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: you are not offered the opportunity to understand that you could feel good during sex.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's just very few people.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: Some people had brilliant mothers who were like hippies and like told about that, that is not, that is not most of my friends experience.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_00]: So one of the things like, so get her book.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, you'll get her book.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: So she said American society tends to view sex and binary extremes.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: But it's rather a more nuanced middle ground.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: And we've seen that you can see this in social media today.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like people don't think that sex and gender are two different things.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_00]: They are like so like what you're what you're attracted to and like the gender all these there's there's differences and it's not so black and white and everyone's to make it like this is how it is.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: where sex is often placed on either into the spectrum either don't think about it or don't talk about it until certain age or married and that makes it really difficult because you know most of the things like when you're a little kid ever and ask like what do you want to be when you grow up so you're whole life to change your mind you're like I'm going to be a judge on me this and you could to like explore and take classes and do that and when you're in this country most people like
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: Don't do sex.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: Don't have sex.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: Don't get pregnant.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_00]: And girls are also taught.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's your fault if you get pregnant.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: And there's something wrong.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like you did something wrong.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: If you get pregnant.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you shoulder straps were too skinny.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's why you're pregnant.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_00]: And then all of a sudden you're married.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: So now you should know you should know how to do sex.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: You should know what to do.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: But no one let you talk about it.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: No one.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's just a whole mess.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's a mess.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's a mess.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: So anyways, I really like that's why she wrote her book.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_00]: But she also explained we are not buying a people as far as we want to do in our sex life.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_00]: And she said like she advocates living in the glittery middle like just like you know like it doesn't have like just because you like it one way at some point is like another way so just so that like we like when we say binary I think what she's what she's saying there is
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's okay for sex to change over time.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: Because the conversation you were having is like, you know, sex is different at different stages of life, right?
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: When you're, you know, in your twenties, thirties, forties, fifties, seventies, like a changes, right?
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's what I, you know, I think that makes sense.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and she, so she advocates for that glittery middle and like also, you know, exploring and and it's I think what's interesting is like she is so open to like helping you figure out what you want.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I have some amazing interesting friends in this world.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_00]: I have one friend who like has a partner who's asexual has a partner.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_00]: that she dates but they date someone else and then she prefers to have one other one and I'm like like the twelve year old me is like oh my god what the fuck are you doing like that so weird and then like the person who's like gone through some work done a lot of reading I'm like
- 21:56[SPEAKER_00]: That is very fascinating.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like looking at my calendar that much.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_00]: And that sounds like way too much.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of scheduling.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's also a lot of testing.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of things.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_00]: But she looked at me.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, ten years.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like, are you bored?
- 22:09[SPEAKER_00]: So like, you know, it's really funny how we all have a different thing.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_00]: And Dr. Celeste is just like advocating for like, live in your glittering, but live, understand that your what you're going to want on your sex life is going to change.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that's okay.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 22:23[SPEAKER_00]: that's there's nothing wrong with you as it changes like just explore that and so she basically said you could decide what is best for you and that right there is like the opposite of what purity culture and dick head people in this country want you to think don't want you to think it's what the best for you they want you to think it's what's best for the dick head of man they think you should be married to anyways
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: Tell me more about how you feel.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_00]: Fucking Christian Koochi.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's never going to leave my mind.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like what a woman hate her.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: Gross.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's an interesting thing.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think a lot of I think a lot of people in that world just don't like women, but it's anyways.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, I was going to say as a comment to that, you know, how do you get to the point like
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: The reason I made the comment at the beginning was that it was mostly about communication is because if you have been with someone for a long time, what does it look like to have that conversation of like,
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: things are changing and shifting in your sex life.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: How does that mean?
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not talking about permiscuity.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: It could be that.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: But maybe it's just simple things.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, I want to change it up.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_01]: Let's change it up today, whatever.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: But the communication is where I think it's awkward.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: And hopefully, you know, with your partner, you have the type of relationship where you can just simply have a conversation about it.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: Also, I really am going to take away your take-out talking points.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_00]: I really loved how she talked about the funny, like the faking orgasm.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_00]: Is that in your section?
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: my section.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: No, I was talking about how things changed over time.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I even jumped ahead to it without realizing it myself.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: Founding is really interesting.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not familiar with the definition, what is falling?
- 24:15[SPEAKER_00]: So essentially, like, there's flight, right, bite, right.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I used to when I took a study biology, it was like, and fuck, like some people.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's like, it's all part of the same part of your brain system.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of funny.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_00]: But fun is like this, like, people pleasing or you've seen it in movies where the guy gets really mad and he hits her and then she's like, oh, it's okay.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, that's my fault.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: I tripped into you.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they do this whole
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like you're okay, everything's like, and acting like really small and docile, like a little lame.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_00]: And then that makes some person usually a man like calm down, everything's fine.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_00]: She talked about faking orgasms as a funny response as a people pleasing response.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: And we talked, oh, my goodness, have to listen to this because she talked about like, she believes in being honest, but also being kind.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_01]: And we taught and she said there was a difference between honesty and transfer and full transparency.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: She said she doesn't believe in full transparency, but she does believe in honesty.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: And she said people can use full transparency as honesty and be cutting and heart hurtful.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: Because she also has and this is an interesting thing.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: If you have been faking orgasms in your entire marriage.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_00]: it's you can't always just blame your partner because you never told them what it would take to please you and so they're just doing what you have responded to in the past you know so it's a and I thought was really fascinating so it's like yes be honest like hey I would like to try something different that's no longer working for me
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: And so then it's not something you're rejecting the other person or making them feel like shit.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: And you're also able to then start articulating what you want.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_00]: And it does take practice.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: You're right.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's all about communication.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's such a, you guys have to go listen.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_00]: If you have, you've got to listen.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_00]: Go listen.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and just to wrap that up there, you know, as things change over time, she said, hey, we mature as humans, why wouldn't our sex life mature too?
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: And it's important to allow our sex life to mature as we mature.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's the most helpful thing that we can do for ourselves.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I thought it was really a topic that nobody ever talks about.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's really helpful.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, there's a lot of room to allow ourselves compassion to grow as we grow, right?
- 26:27[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, and that's like, oh, you guys, I mean, when you get older, when you get older, like, your bones get brittle.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_00]: So, like, there's going to be some positions that neither person
- 26:37[SPEAKER_00]: No matter what your gender is and who you want to have sex with can do like you're not to start doing inside way sex because like you could fucking break your pelvis or a hip so like just start you could break it while fucking is what you meant to say yeah that too but anyway
- 26:54[SPEAKER_00]: So just like, if this is a conversation that you are already going, I don't know if I could have this, read her book, follow her because the more I do, the more I might able to go, oh, what an interesting thing that I haven't been able to articulate.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_00]: That was really helpful.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so anyways.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, yeah, we'll stick around.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be right back.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to dig into those be it actions that we have with Dr. Celeste Hallbrook.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: So finally, let's talk about those be it action items.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: What bold, executable intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from your combo with Dr. Celeste Hallbrook?
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: She said, hey, I've got a four part guide.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: And you should use it.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: And she maps it out in detail in her book, but high level.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's the analyst, the assassin, the healer, and the explorer.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought this is kind of cool.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: And she said, she said, it's like the archetypal woman.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: So the analyst helps you understand what are we actually carrying around.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: is the are these mental bags full of shame full of neglect full of fear right and then the assassin is taking what the analyst has found so this is like a progression right so it's not just like you're only stuck in what it seems like this is a progression so the assassin then is taking what the analyst has found and is just slicing through it like deconstructing you know that
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: In her case, she's specifically talking about purity culture and like all the baggage that we're saddled with from that kind of a thing.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: And then after the assassin's the healer who facilitates like she helping regenerate ideas about sex through like education.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, every education.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, gentle, every education about what is sex and what's okay and why do we have this guilt around sex and why does that even there's just a lot of history that blows my mind?
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: Finally, we have the explore where you've kind of after you've gone through some healing, you're now feeling more confident, more willingness to be explore having sex.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: That could be with
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: your partner with yourself or whatever.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, it's an interesting like progression.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a cool idea of a process because it if you think oh my god, I have to figure all this out or you might hear about the explore part and like what the like you came and wrap your head around that it's because you got to go through the process.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think it's great because it really sets her up like, you know, she's she jokingly said a lot of my conversations are pretty boring.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like what because she's got clients one on one clients and and it's not they're not like crazy like it's not it's not like telling it's not story time she's actually, you know, helping people.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: go through the process that she created here so it depends on what's you know part of the flow that you're in you know might just simply be analysis for a while you know and coming to terms with it and then it won't be until you've come to terms with that you can move on to the next phase and but what's great is that she has a process and I think that's really good yeah
- 30:00[SPEAKER_00]: She also has a couple of other things for you, which is something you can repeat.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_00]: She said, to free to repeat, I prioritize myself by allowing myself to go up my own pace.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_00]: I prioritized myself by allowing myself to go at my own pace.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think that is so important no matter what the topic is, no matter what you're trying to be at tell you see, like if you got nothing out of this episode, but that affirmation great.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_00]: And she also, we've talked about her being like a slow reader and like her writing and all that stuff and she, she really learned to prioritize herself and appreciate and consider it and slow and thoughtful.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's actually her prioritizing herself.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_00]: I heard not quite on the slow reader, but instead going, I'm a slow reader.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_00]: So I am going to be considerate and slow and thoughtful.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's how I do things.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: And give myself the time.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was so cool.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what an amazing way to prioritize yourself is to like, do the things the way you do need to do them.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: And that's like, you know, across any element of life that's not just, you know, around sex.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's great.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: And then finally she said,
- 31:07[SPEAKER_00]: And this is for your sexual life.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_00]: She said we're the goal for sexual choices to be your decision and not one manipulated by society or cultural values or religious values.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that is so important because even if you aren't someone who is religious but maybe you're a culture at a different kind of pressure or a different way of seeing your body or maybe you feel a different way with society, your sexual life is your choices are your decision and not one to be manipulated by anybody else.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's so important.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: I just fucking love her.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_00]: I wish you'd live closer.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: I want to have coffee with her all the time.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she was a lot of fun to listen to and also her story about how her book came to be.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: What a roller coaster that was so fun.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: That you were a part of it.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's pretty neat.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, honestly, like this is like, you know, like everything happens for a reason, like how we interviewed him.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_00]: two years ago.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: Jake.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_00]: Jake.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

- 32:07[SPEAKER_00]: No, he's a Christian Lloyd Harder friend person.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, maybe so.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_00]: So somebody sent Jake to me.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_00]: And then Jake Helfer yeah, and then and then I'll I watch just the last stuff but sometimes she didn't stop not in my feet because of algorithms and that day I just happened to not only watch but I actually turned like read the whole thing and I was like what's going on?

- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: What if I missed out on this because like I had I was meant to watch her stories on that day.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like I was meant to, because it could have been so easy for me to not pick up my phone that day and not watch them.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: There was a reason why I opened my phone up and I watched her stories and did not watch that many people's stories.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_00]: And it was because I was supposed to see them and introduce her to Jake.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_00]: That was my whole goal.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: That was like the universe working for her.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_00]: The universe was like, okay, so last we're gonna make sure Leslie sees it because Leslie knows Jake and you need to know Jake boom, it's done.
