- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle maybe, and I'm here like
- 0:05Speaker 1: I'm supposed to be, I think. And today we're gonna
- 0:08Speaker 1: talk about Lane because that's what we're talking about, specifically
- 0:12Speaker 1: episode seven. But first I wanted to tell you that
- 0:16Speaker 1: the second season of Dora Hedoro ended last week. Oh no,
- 0:21Speaker 1: it's really sad for me because I was like, really
- 0:24Speaker 1: really enjoying it, and now there's no more for me
- 0:27Speaker 1: to consume except we found out that there is going
- 0:30Speaker 1: to be a season three. Yay. And we didn't have
- 0:33Speaker 1: to wait like six years to find that out. So
- 0:35Speaker 1: that's pretty good. Hopefully that'll take place soonish instead of
- 0:40Speaker 1: you know, waiting so long because I don't think I
- 0:42Speaker 1: can handle that. Cause again, it was really really good.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I've definitely said this in other episodes before, but like
- 0:50Speaker 1: if you liked Dora Heydoro in the first season and
- 0:52Speaker 1: you're like, hey, it was pretty good. I had a
- 0:53Speaker 1: nice time. It was fun. You should watch the second
- 0:56Speaker 1: season because it is miles better by most standards animation quality.
- 1:01Speaker 1: There's not as much awkward computer animation movement going on.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I didn't notice as much weird fighting things where I
- 1:08Speaker 1: was like, that's not something a person could do. It
- 1:10Speaker 1: could be that I didn't watch it as critically because
- 1:13Speaker 1: I'm not like sitting at my computer stopping every two
- 1:17Speaker 1: seconds to figure out what somebody did when I'm you know,
- 1:19Speaker 1: just watching for fun. But yeah, and the story is
- 1:23Speaker 1: also more interesting now we're in a very weird part
- 1:27Speaker 1: of the story, so that's cool. And there's just like
- 1:30Speaker 1: so much more like horror elements that feel like really upsetting. Yeah,
- 1:35Speaker 1: I really liked it. It made me remember why I
- 1:38Speaker 1: love the manga. So yeah, if you're into that, do
- 1:43Speaker 1: it or not. Whatever. Other than that, everything else is
- 1:46Speaker 1: going okay. I am caught between thinking this is one
- 1:50Speaker 1: of the coolest seasons of ree zero and just thinking
- 1:52Speaker 1: it's fine. It's like there's like three episodes and they're
- 1:56Speaker 1: just like eh, and then there's one that's like totally
- 1:58Speaker 1: brutal and upsetting, and it's just how we've been doing this.
- 2:01Speaker 1: So the last episode I saw was like amazingly horrific
- 2:04Speaker 1: and I was just so fucking happy about it. Oh
- 2:08Speaker 1: my god, super you, poor poor child. So yeah, so
- 2:14Speaker 1: that's going on, and then there's everything else too. And
- 2:18Speaker 1: like I said last week, I'm watching Tokyo Google, which
- 2:21Speaker 1: is okay. Like the first several episodes, I was like, wow,
- 2:25Speaker 1: this is a lot more edgy than the manga felt.
- 2:28Speaker 1: And maybe it's not, but it felt like so blatantly
- 2:32Speaker 1: edgy that I was getting uncomfortable. But things have kind
- 2:34Speaker 1: of worked their way into kind of a nice, normal
- 2:37Speaker 1: pace of just a little bit of too much edginess,
- 2:40Speaker 1: and honestly it's working for me. So yeah, it's always
- 2:45Speaker 1: interesting when you watch or read something that like is
- 2:49Speaker 1: important to a lot of people. You know, there's like
- 2:52Speaker 1: a difference between something that like is fun and good
- 2:56Speaker 1: and then something that like people like love for some reason.
- 2:59Speaker 1: And I know people love Tokyo Ghoul, So it's just
- 3:04Speaker 1: there's a different feel like it's obviously a more cohesive
- 3:09Speaker 1: and interesting story than some things that I'm watching. I
- 3:12Speaker 1: don't know what I'm trying to say. I'm just saying
- 3:14Speaker 1: sometimes when people like something, there's a reason. Maybe it's
- 3:18Speaker 1: because it's good or not. People like bad things all
- 3:21Speaker 1: the time. I don't know what I'm doing. Stop, Stop,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I don't know what's happening. Anyway. Let's talk about Lane
- 3:27Speaker 1: episode seven, which is called Society. I guess that's fine.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I mean, it's not a bad title. Or a good title.
- 3:34Speaker 1: It's a title. But you remember the end of the
- 3:37Speaker 1: last episode, right, because fucking Lane's room blew up when
- 3:41Speaker 1: she was outside with those dudes and the tall dude
- 3:44Speaker 1: was like, get down, and she didn't because she was like,
- 3:47Speaker 1: what the fuck? And then it exploded because her cooling
- 3:50Speaker 1: system had too much pressure and blew up. Yeah, that happened,
- 3:55Speaker 1: and they just ended the episode with like sirens in
- 3:58Speaker 1: the background, and I was like, oh fuck, yeah, yeah,
- 4:01Speaker 1: we don't start there. We do start where we normally
- 4:05Speaker 1: start with the things, and then present day, present time.
- 4:10Speaker 1: By the end of this, I'll be getting the laugh together,
- 4:13Speaker 1: I hope. So I could have the whole full present day,
- 4:16Speaker 1: present time thing, but not yet. I'm still too self
- 4:19Speaker 1: conscious about that. Then we have the opening theme yeay,
- 4:23Speaker 1: and then more normal shit that we always do. And
- 4:26Speaker 1: on top of that normal shit, someone is saying and
- 4:29Speaker 1: it might be lame, but I don't know. Just between
- 4:32Speaker 1: you and me, let me tell you what's happening, what's
- 4:34Speaker 1: beginning to take place in our society without you even
- 4:37Speaker 1: being vaguely conscious of it. And then we see the
- 4:40Speaker 1: title card Society layer zero seven. Yay. Oh, I also
- 4:46Speaker 1: want to mention that this took more pages of notes
- 4:48Speaker 1: to write than usual, so we'll see how long this is.
- 4:51Speaker 1: We fade into like a view of a street. It's
- 4:55Speaker 1: very like overexposed, and there's blotchy red shadows everywhere, and
- 4:59Speaker 1: the power lines are hum as they do. We pull
- 5:02Speaker 1: down the block and we see Lane's house and we
- 5:05Speaker 1: see her window, you know, the one that exploded. But
- 5:08Speaker 1: it's like just intact, it's fine, everything's fine, okay, And
- 5:13Speaker 1: there's like a lot of fuzzing going on. And then
- 5:16Speaker 1: we see just like a giant hanging wad of cables
- 5:19Speaker 1: just coming out of the wall of like the exterior
- 5:22Speaker 1: of her house, like next to her window. What so
- 5:25Speaker 1: what she like made a hole? Like, it's not the
- 5:28Speaker 1: hole from the explosion. There was no hole from the
- 5:31Speaker 1: explosion excepted it blue out the window. So what the fuck? Yeah,
- 5:34Speaker 1: I don't know what else to say. So we cut
- 5:37Speaker 1: to that green coolant flowing through the pipes and a
- 5:41Speaker 1: green computer screen with like stuff scrolling on it and
- 5:44Speaker 1: beeping and bubbling water in a tank. Maybe that's coolant again,
- 5:48Speaker 1: I don't really know. It's like connected to a bunch
- 5:50Speaker 1: of stuff. Then we get like weird swirling colors on
- 5:53Speaker 1: Navy's screen, or maybe like it's supposed to be on
- 5:56Speaker 1: the holographic screens like above. Nommy, I'm not really sure,
- 6:00Speaker 1: and we're getting like all sorts of weird, distorted noises
- 6:03Speaker 1: coming out of it. Lane is sitting at her desk
- 6:06Speaker 1: looking at her computer. What what do you mean? Everything
- 6:10Speaker 1: is just fine in this room now? I mean it
- 6:12Speaker 1: looks insane in here with all the computers and wires everywhere,
- 6:15Speaker 1: but does not look like anything exploded. So what the fuck? Anyway?
- 6:20Speaker 1: She says, not that, No, that's wrong. I'm just sitting
- 6:24Speaker 1: here watching because when I go inside the wired yeah,
- 6:27Speaker 1: that's right, it's becoming less and less like me. It
- 6:30Speaker 1: seems there's a bunch of noises like something is responding
- 6:33Speaker 1: to her in a language or statigy sound we don't understand.
- 6:38Speaker 1: She continues, Uh huh, I don't honestly know what who
- 6:43Speaker 1: do you mean? She looks behind her and she sees
- 6:47Speaker 1: Mika is standing in her doorway. The door is only
- 6:49Speaker 1: like slightly cracked open, and Mika is just like staring
- 6:53Speaker 1: at her. At first, I was like, okay, but she
- 6:55Speaker 1: looks like she's like mentally there, So we're good. Lane
- 6:58Speaker 1: stares back, and Mika just says, uh, okay, So she's
- 7:04Speaker 1: not okay, what the fuck? And Lane's like on a chan.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Mika just slowly closes the door. Sure, Lane, your sister
- 7:14Speaker 1: is going through some sort of crisis, go help her anyway.
- 7:17Speaker 1: She doesn't do that. She turns back and she says,
- 7:21Speaker 1: I can't figure out on Chan lately she hasn't been herself. Yeah,
- 7:25Speaker 1: there's a bunch of noises again, and Lane says, well,
- 7:29Speaker 1: I'm not sure I can answer that. Some more noises
- 7:32Speaker 1: and a warning like pops up on the screen. Literally
- 7:35Speaker 1: it just says warning in English. Lane says, yeah, there
- 7:39Speaker 1: are a bunch of noises, and like the warning starts
- 7:41Speaker 1: like beeping, and Lane says, fine, suit yourself. The warning
- 7:46Speaker 1: kind of like expands on the screen, and then it's
- 7:49Speaker 1: almost like a TV channel changes and we get like
- 7:52Speaker 1: a distorted view of people walking down the streets. It's
- 7:55Speaker 1: like highly highly distorted. It looks like it's a real
- 7:58Speaker 1: street with real people. I think the best way for
- 8:01Speaker 1: me to describe this is it's almost like if you're
- 8:03Speaker 1: using thermal imaging, we just kind of have like a
- 8:07Speaker 1: heat map of people. Everything is like real weird. I
- 8:10Speaker 1: can like just barely tell that that's what's going on.
- 8:14Speaker 1: But the movement itself looks really organic in a way
- 8:17Speaker 1: that makes me think that somebody just films people walking
- 8:20Speaker 1: down the streets, you know, with whatever this filter is,
- 8:24Speaker 1: and used it in the show. And also like it's
- 8:26Speaker 1: a really shaky camera, like things are just kind of
- 8:29Speaker 1: shifting around a bunch, And we hear a voice say
- 8:32Speaker 1: the real world and the wired are linear in their connections.
- 8:35Speaker 1: A dialogue box pops up on the screen and says searching.
- 8:39Speaker 1: The voice continues, I can exist anywhere I desire it. Laughs.
- 8:45Speaker 1: We see a dialogue box pop up that says I'm
- 8:47Speaker 1: the best. And the stuff in the background is really
- 8:52Speaker 1: really distorted now I can't even make out what it is.
- 8:55Speaker 1: The voice continues, no matter where my body is at
- 8:58Speaker 1: any particular time, I can least my consciousness anywhere I want,
- 9:02Speaker 1: anytime I want. We cut to a close up of
- 9:05Speaker 1: a guy's face. He's like really scruffy, like he'sn't shaved
- 9:09Speaker 1: in a while. He's smiling, and he's got something over
- 9:12Speaker 1: his eyes and he laughs. We can see now that
- 9:15Speaker 1: he's walking down the street, he's got a camera attached
- 9:18Speaker 1: to him with like a backpack with like wires and
- 9:20Speaker 1: shit coming out of it. And he's got like maybe
- 9:23Speaker 1: like a VR helmet on, like basically some virtual reality goggles.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I don't know, but there's all sorts of like electronics
- 9:30Speaker 1: and shit strapped to him, like over his jacket. I
- 9:33Speaker 1: think he's wearing like a tan trench coats. He does
- 9:36Speaker 1: not look normal at all. He needs walking just down
- 9:40Speaker 1: the streets in the middle of Tokyo, and people are
- 9:43Speaker 1: staring at him, because you would be. We cut two
- 9:46Speaker 1: door handles that are either gold or bronze. They're very
- 9:50Speaker 1: very stylish, I guess, and we hear a knock more
- 9:54Speaker 1: or less. A woman in like a yellow pants suit
- 9:57Speaker 1: pushes the door open and walks into the room and
- 10:00Speaker 1: sits down in a chair and she crosses her legs.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I don't know if it's really called a pantsuit. It's
- 10:05Speaker 1: the kind that has she's got like a skirt. It's
- 10:07Speaker 1: a suit with a skirt. I don't know what that's called.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Why don't I know what that's called? Okay, according to
- 10:12Speaker 1: the Internet, they are called skirt suits. Yeah, okay, so
- 10:18Speaker 1: that makes sense. Anyway, she crosses her legs as I
- 10:23Speaker 1: just said. Someone is typing at a computer, I guess
- 10:28Speaker 1: in front of her, like at the far end of
- 10:30Speaker 1: a table. We're just seeing their hands. And she kind
- 10:33Speaker 1: of tosses her hair, and she says, I thought you'd
- 10:37Speaker 1: like to know that it's time for the Emotor Consortium banquet.
- 10:40Speaker 1: A guy, the guy who's typing and has brown hair,
- 10:43Speaker 1: looks over and says right. He smiles. She smiles back,
- 10:48Speaker 1: and she switches legs that she's crossing. She like moves
- 10:51Speaker 1: the one on the bottom to the one on the top.
- 10:53Speaker 1: You know. The guy watches her legs as she does this,
- 10:57Speaker 1: very much transfixed on her short skirt. You He narrows
- 11:01Speaker 1: his eyes. We hear a NOVI say mail. The man's like,
- 11:06Speaker 1: please tell them I'll be down in three minutes. The
- 11:08Speaker 1: woman says, I'll let them know. She uncrosses her legs,
- 11:12Speaker 1: stands and leaves the man like double clicks on an
- 11:17Speaker 1: icon that says mail dot kN I underscore all slash
- 11:25Speaker 1: mas dot happy question mark, and I wanted to make
- 11:29Speaker 1: mention that there are a bunch of emails that he
- 11:31Speaker 1: could have clicked on, and one of them is mail
- 11:33Speaker 1: dot uaita slash mess dot tired and I thought that
- 11:38Speaker 1: was pretty funny because Auaita is the producer. I guess
- 11:40Speaker 1: he's tired. But yeah, so the mail he clicked on
- 11:44Speaker 1: had kN I in it, so was he. One of
- 11:46Speaker 1: the nights is that where we're trying to get at anyway,
- 11:49Speaker 1: an email launches onto the screen. It's like blue and
- 11:52Speaker 1: pixelated and there's just like random words appearing all over
- 11:55Speaker 1: the place. It's totally illegible, but it's in English. And
- 11:59Speaker 1: then there's like some weird spinning model of I thought
- 12:03Speaker 1: it was a person with like really big long legs.
- 12:06Speaker 1: It's like pinking in the background, and I was just like,
- 12:08Speaker 1: what is even happening? And then the like modeling thing
- 12:11Speaker 1: goes into a box and it like expands again over
- 12:14Speaker 1: the entire screen, and up until this point, I was like,
- 12:17Speaker 1: what the fuck is happening to this poor man's email?
- 12:20Speaker 1: Is he being hacked? But then he smiles, so obviously
- 12:25Speaker 1: he wanted this weird thing to happen to his email,
- 12:28Speaker 1: so that's good. And we get a weird close up
- 12:31Speaker 1: on like what this is, and I finally saw a
- 12:36Speaker 1: good picture of it at the end of the episode.
- 12:38Speaker 1: So I'm gonna try to explain what the symbol is
- 12:41Speaker 1: now to you. So it's like almost like an hourglass shape,
- 12:45Speaker 1: like it's got two triangles. It's like the bottom one
- 12:49Speaker 1: is kind of pointed up and the top one is
- 12:51Speaker 1: kind of pointed down, and the bottom one almost looks
- 12:54Speaker 1: like it's stained glass, and the top one is just
- 12:56Speaker 1: open and it's nothing in it. But they're touching each other,
- 12:59Speaker 1: almost doing like a Venn diagram thing, where like they
- 13:02Speaker 1: meet in the middle and overlap, and on top of
- 13:05Speaker 1: that is a crescent moon, and on top of that
- 13:08Speaker 1: is a teeny little cross, and it's all in a
- 13:11Speaker 1: circle with lines all around it and more lines and
- 13:14Speaker 1: things on the bottom. So now you know, I'm pretty
- 13:17Speaker 1: sure this is what Mika was in. Remember when she
- 13:20Speaker 1: was just in the streets and there were shadows around
- 13:22Speaker 1: her what she had to fulfill the prophecy, So this
- 13:25Speaker 1: is the symbol that we're seeing all the time now,
- 13:28Speaker 1: so now you know. Anyway, he leans in and he
- 13:32Speaker 1: rests his head on his hands and says, so, what
- 13:35Speaker 1: game do you want to play? This time? We cut
- 13:37Speaker 1: to Lane's teacher writing on the chalkboard, and then we
- 13:42Speaker 1: see some like quickly scrolling text on a screen that
- 13:45Speaker 1: looks like it kind of looks like Jason code json.
- 13:49Speaker 1: I guess that's Jason Jason code, but I don't know
- 13:51Speaker 1: that much about code, so it could be any type
- 13:53Speaker 1: of code. Who the fuck knows. And we see like
- 13:57Speaker 1: a circle cursor and it clicks on something that's like parentheses,
- 14:01Speaker 1: car source parentheses, parentheses parentheses, and a new window that
- 14:05Speaker 1: has like sources listed in it pops up and it
- 14:07Speaker 1: starts scrolling rapidly. Yeah. I don't know what any of
- 14:10Speaker 1: this means. It's Laine. She is looking at all this
- 14:13Speaker 1: stuff on her phone, but it's kind of like below
- 14:15Speaker 1: her desk, so she doesn't get caught, you know how
- 14:18Speaker 1: you do that at school probably, And she's like tapping
- 14:21Speaker 1: on stuff with her pen, which is audible by the way.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Alice is watching from her desk kind of concerned, Okay,
- 14:28Speaker 1: super concerned. We cut two electrical wires humming on an
- 14:32Speaker 1: orange yellow sky, and then to a two story house
- 14:36Speaker 1: that kind of looks like it's got wood siding on it.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I thought it was nice. We see inside a room
- 14:42Speaker 1: and there's some guy lying on a futon, like on
- 14:45Speaker 1: a stomach, like looking at a laptop that's laid out
- 14:47Speaker 1: in front of him. He's eating something crunchy because I
- 14:50Speaker 1: hear it crunching, but we're not that close to him,
- 14:53Speaker 1: so I don't know what it is. And the room
- 14:57Speaker 1: I assume he has like a studio apartment, because there's
- 15:00Speaker 1: like a sink in it and shit as well as
- 15:02Speaker 1: this bed, and the sink is just full of dishes,
- 15:05Speaker 1: which grosses me out. I don't like when dishes are
- 15:08Speaker 1: left in the sink. Please please clean them. And there's
- 15:11Speaker 1: also just trash and clutter everywhere, which doesn't bother me
- 15:14Speaker 1: as much, but still not great. He's wearing a T
- 15:18Speaker 1: shirt and I think just underwear, like no pants anyway,
- 15:22Speaker 1: he laughs and says, try this. We see part of
- 15:26Speaker 1: that symbol on the screen and he opens some sort
- 15:30Speaker 1: of window and then he clicks on it and he
- 15:33Speaker 1: laughs and he's like, just try me, you morons. We
- 15:36Speaker 1: see the computer screen reflecting in his glasses as text
- 15:39Speaker 1: scrolls up, and we get kind of a better shot
- 15:42Speaker 1: of him. Now. He is kind of overweight, he's got
- 15:46Speaker 1: like a really messy hair, and he's wearing like a
- 15:48Speaker 1: red sweatband, which feels a little on the nose. I
- 15:52Speaker 1: hate when it's like, look, there's people who like computers
- 15:55Speaker 1: and they're gross. Come on anyway, he says, I'm better
- 15:59Speaker 1: than all you, and he laughs sure. We then cut
- 16:03Speaker 1: to Lane, who is sitting at the railing of I
- 16:07Speaker 1: guess a roof. It's really hard to tell them this
- 16:09Speaker 1: first scene, looking down and the power lines are buzzing
- 16:13Speaker 1: around her. We see houses, you know, below her, and
- 16:17Speaker 1: she says, the real world out there isn't actually real
- 16:20Speaker 1: at all. We hear Alice say, Lane. Lane looks up
- 16:25Speaker 1: and Alice is standing next to her as Lane is
- 16:27Speaker 1: kind of like squatting at the railing, and she says,
- 16:31Speaker 1: are you okay. Lane's like, huh why? Alice says, lately
- 16:36Speaker 1: it seems like you've been slipping away again. Lane looks
- 16:39Speaker 1: down again and she kind of nods, and Alice continues,
- 16:42Speaker 1: I guess we wanted to make an effort to include
- 16:45Speaker 1: you in everything we do. We wanted to take you
- 16:48Speaker 1: out and make you happy somehow. Lane looks like so sad.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Alice continues, that's all we were trying to do. Of course,
- 16:58Speaker 1: if we've been a nuisance and rather we didn't, I apologize.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Lane stands and she's like, that's no. She shakes her head.
- 17:06Speaker 1: That's not it. I was having fun. She shakes her
- 17:10Speaker 1: head again, I've had a really great time. Her whole
- 17:13Speaker 1: body is kind of shaking now, which makes me a
- 17:15Speaker 1: little worried. Alice looks at her and kind of like
- 17:19Speaker 1: sort of barely smiles. Lane is definitely shaking, and she
- 17:23Speaker 1: looks like she's like gonna cry. Alice smiles more and
- 17:26Speaker 1: like grabs her by the hand and says, I'm glad,
- 17:29Speaker 1: and she starts to walk away. Laane stares at her
- 17:32Speaker 1: hand and then says, Alice. Alice stops and turns back
- 17:36Speaker 1: what Laane looks down. Thanks, thank you so much for
- 17:41Speaker 1: thinking about me. Alice smiles. Those food friends are for right,
- 17:47Speaker 1: see ya. She leaps. Lane stares for a second and
- 17:51Speaker 1: then she smiles too. Okay, that was kind of cute.
- 17:55Speaker 1: So knowing that Alice considers her her friend is a
- 17:58Speaker 1: good thing. It made her smile yay. And also, maybe
- 18:02Speaker 1: I've judged them a little too harshly, so I'm gonna
- 18:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna back off a little and say that's nice, Alice.
- 18:09Speaker 1: It's nice that you want to help, even if you're
- 18:12Speaker 1: kind of misguided and a little pushy. Anyway. We see
- 18:15Speaker 1: the power lines buzzing next, to the school, and then
- 18:17Speaker 1: we go to red dots and then super close up
- 18:20Speaker 1: text on a screen. In the background, there's kind of
- 18:23Speaker 1: like a drawing of like a river, which kind of
- 18:26Speaker 1: looks like it's done with like a brush. It's like
- 18:29Speaker 1: black and white. I believe that's like sumi ah Art
- 18:33Speaker 1: is the kind with the brush and stuff. So that's
- 18:36Speaker 1: going on in the background, and there's like birds flying
- 18:40Speaker 1: around too, and we see like text in red bars
- 18:45Speaker 1: on both sides of the screen, but I can't see
- 18:46Speaker 1: what it says. And a voice goes this afternoon, the
- 18:50Speaker 1: firewall of the Information Bureau's Information Control Center was cracked
- 18:55Speaker 1: by some unnamed renegade party buck. We now see fish
- 18:59Speaker 1: jumping out a pond in the same style in the background,
- 19:02Speaker 1: and then like a pink flower with dew on it,
- 19:05Speaker 1: like maybe it's a chrysanthemum. I don't know, that's what
- 19:08Speaker 1: my brain said, the voice continues. As a result, the
- 19:12Speaker 1: information network system of the wired is in total disarray,
- 19:15Speaker 1: and furthermore, be advised that we now see like a
- 19:18Speaker 1: bird flying away. Although this is actually a live broadcast
- 19:22Speaker 1: and being sent out at this very moment, you see
- 19:24Speaker 1: a flower. It's quite possible that it may arrive tomorrow,
- 19:27Speaker 1: right now, or perhaps even yesterday. What a bit of
- 19:32Speaker 1: dew drips from one of the petals in the flower. Sure,
- 19:35Speaker 1: we now see a black, kind of dark bluish screen
- 19:38Speaker 1: with dots moving around on it, and they're getting bigger
- 19:41Speaker 1: and it's getting more colorful, and stuff and words are
- 19:45Speaker 1: like super randomly appearing on the screen. They say, the
- 19:48Speaker 1: eye craft together and stuff, and a new voice is like,
- 19:53Speaker 1: looks like the Knights did it again. The word knights
- 19:56Speaker 1: appears on the screen. Somebody else says, who are the Knights?
- 19:59Speaker 1: And what knights appears on the screen. The screen kind
- 20:03Speaker 1: of morphs into like a green background with a black
- 20:06Speaker 1: box that says infomania on the left side, and then
- 20:10Speaker 1: knights appear above it. A woman's voice says, knights. A
- 20:14Speaker 1: yellow box appears on the right side of the screen
- 20:17Speaker 1: with like text scrolling, and the woman continues, I think
- 20:20Speaker 1: this might be an obby. By the way, A mysterious
- 20:22Speaker 1: group of mathematical nights what said to have a great
- 20:26Speaker 1: influence over the wired. Members of this group are unknown
- 20:29Speaker 1: at its time. They are not only involved in information manipulation,
- 20:33Speaker 1: they've also been linked to the development and distribution of
- 20:35Speaker 1: illegal information devices. The green kind of blobs out, and
- 20:40Speaker 1: we go to a black screen with like big words
- 20:43Speaker 1: in the background and read that. I can't see all
- 20:46Speaker 1: of them, so I don't have a complete idea of
- 20:49Speaker 1: what it's saying, but I do see some words like
- 20:52Speaker 1: the sunset California, see workshop follower on the I don't
- 20:57Speaker 1: know what that means. Then we see yellow text over
- 21:00Speaker 1: top of that and it says someone takes aim Lane.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Maybe they mean at Lane, but who knows? That blurs
- 21:08Speaker 1: out to take aim shooting down. Oh and this is
- 21:11Speaker 1: all in English, by the way, In case I didn't
- 21:13Speaker 1: say that, we hear someone else say I hear someone's
- 21:17Speaker 1: after Lane. There's a new screen with that kind of
- 21:20Speaker 1: big red text in the background again, but says different
- 21:23Speaker 1: things this time that I still don't understand, like conference
- 21:26Speaker 1: workshop there and a half Saturday the I don't know
- 21:31Speaker 1: over top in white now it says who's Lane? Somebody
- 21:36Speaker 1: says Lane, Who's that. We get a green screen now
- 21:40Speaker 1: with that infomania box on it, and it says data
- 21:44Speaker 1: is searching. There's a text overlay that's kind of like
- 21:47Speaker 1: rippling through the screen that says lane. And then yeah,
- 21:51Speaker 1: I know her, but not see her recently. Sure, the
- 21:54Speaker 1: woman or maybe Navi says Lane search has no matches,
- 21:58Speaker 1: no documentation on record. Yeah, it's definitely Navi. We see
- 22:02Speaker 1: a box now that says unknown keywords, and then there's
- 22:05Speaker 1: a yellow box with Japanese text that's not translated. Now
- 22:08Speaker 1: we get a blue screen with Japanese on it and
- 22:11Speaker 1: some kind of crossing elliptical things in the middle, and
- 22:15Speaker 1: text that says make me sad, kind of moving around them.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Somebody else says, I haven't seen Lane around lately. I
- 22:22Speaker 1: guess he's sad about that. Another person's like, who the
- 22:26Speaker 1: hell is laying? We get some really distorted texts kind
- 22:29Speaker 1: of scrolling on the screen that says with no do
- 22:31Speaker 1: w with no things, one love, double blind, no double
- 22:36Speaker 1: mind cover. This is kind of happening as this next
- 22:40Speaker 1: part of the conversation is going on. I don't think
- 22:42Speaker 1: that makes sense, but that's okay. Somebody else is like,
- 22:45Speaker 1: she's a young girl. Someone says a young girl. Another
- 22:49Speaker 1: person says she's very powerful. Somebody else is like, how
- 22:52Speaker 1: do you mean? Someone says her metamorphise, A big red
- 22:57Speaker 1: metamorphise waves across the screen like really quickly, and the
- 23:01Speaker 1: person continues her will, her power. Then we see will
- 23:05Speaker 1: power on the screen and then existence. Then we get
- 23:08Speaker 1: a blurry image of like a black and white city,
- 23:11Speaker 1: I think, and then like a time running on it.
- 23:15Speaker 1: It says fifteen forty three thirty oh four? What the fuck?
- 23:19Speaker 1: The person continues the light in her eyes, her existence.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Then we have have you ever seen lane? On the screen,
- 23:26Speaker 1: and then some untranslated Japanese fades in. Someone's like, hey,
- 23:31Speaker 1: can I ask you something? Somebody else says what is its?
- 23:34Speaker 1: First person's like I was wondering, you wouldn't happen to
- 23:37Speaker 1: be a member of the Nights, would you? Huh? This
- 23:41Speaker 1: screen cuts to black, like the power's just been cut off. Okay,
- 23:44Speaker 1: let me just stop there and say, I hope you
- 23:46Speaker 1: understood that last scene. It was very hard to explain
- 23:49Speaker 1: because it's just like random words on the screen or
- 23:52Speaker 1: what the people are saying on the screen. I guess
- 23:55Speaker 1: that's one way to do it. I'm not sure how
- 23:57Speaker 1: I feel about these parts where we're just like looking
- 23:59Speaker 1: at a screen with like words and some of the
- 24:01Speaker 1: words don't mean anything personally. I guess it's better than
- 24:04Speaker 1: having like still shots, but it's just eah not really
- 24:07Speaker 1: my thing, but I hope I explained it enough, because
- 24:11Speaker 1: I don't know. We now see that delivery truck from
- 24:13Speaker 1: like episode maybe two or something parked like at the curb,
- 24:17Speaker 1: and we are kind of looking up on an apartment
- 24:20Speaker 1: building and we hear a doorbell ring and a woman
- 24:22Speaker 1: says coming. We hear a door open, and that delivery guy,
- 24:27Speaker 1: the delivery guy from maybe episode two, is at the
- 24:30Speaker 1: door and he's like, I have a package for you.
- 24:32Speaker 1: He might be the only delivery guy in the city
- 24:35Speaker 1: who knows. A woman with like short brown hair kind
- 24:38Speaker 1: of claps her hands together and says, ah, let me
- 24:41Speaker 1: get my stamp, and she runs off. I'll pause to say,
- 24:44Speaker 1: in case you don't know, in Japan, instead of you know,
- 24:48Speaker 1: using signatures to sign for things like a package, you
- 24:52Speaker 1: have like a little stamp or maybe multiple little stamps,
- 24:56Speaker 1: I mean for different things that you would like stamp on,
- 24:59Speaker 1: like the thing that you'd put your signature on, you'd
- 25:03Speaker 1: use a stamp instead of signatures. What I'm trying to say,
- 25:06Speaker 1: I think that it's not as common because I think
- 25:10Speaker 1: like in cases of like electronic signing, they can't really
- 25:14Speaker 1: use those because they're physical items, so they probably have
- 25:18Speaker 1: to use signatures now too, but in the past, and
- 25:22Speaker 1: I'm sure in the nineties when this was set and animated,
- 25:26Speaker 1: you know that probably needed a stamp for anything that
- 25:30Speaker 1: you would sign in like somewhere like the US or something. Yeah, now,
- 25:36Speaker 1: you know that's good, right, you like knowing things right. Anyway,
- 25:40Speaker 1: the delivery guy watches her ass as she walks away.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Fuck you dude, And I also put here I wanted
- 25:48Speaker 1: to mention that I thought that this was a business
- 25:50Speaker 1: for a second he walked into because there's a door
- 25:53Speaker 1: near the entrance that has a sign on it that
- 25:56Speaker 1: just says toilet in English. And I thought that was
- 25:58Speaker 1: really weird because I don't know about you, but I
- 26:01Speaker 1: know where my bathroom is, and like, I don't put
- 26:04Speaker 1: a sign on it. I mean, I guess it's helpful
- 26:06Speaker 1: if other people are coming into your house and they
- 26:08Speaker 1: need to know where the bathroom is. But I just
- 26:11Speaker 1: thought it was kind of weird. But it's there, so anyway.
- 26:15Speaker 1: The woman is walking back now and she took all
- 26:17Speaker 1: of like a three seconds, but she's like, I'm sorry,
- 26:20Speaker 1: I didn't mean to keep you waiting so long. The
- 26:22Speaker 1: delivery guy's like, it's fine. The woman raises a little
- 26:26Speaker 1: black rectangle and says, here's my stamp, and then she's
- 26:29Speaker 1: like hmmm and looks to the side. What. I don't know.
- 26:35Speaker 1: It was kind of weird because of the angle. I
- 26:37Speaker 1: can't tell what she's looking at, but I guess she's
- 26:39Speaker 1: looking at the package because it's not in the frame,
- 26:42Speaker 1: So maybe that's what she's looking at, because I don't
- 26:45Speaker 1: understand what else it could be. And the delivery guy says, oh,
- 26:48Speaker 1: a Navvi a new model. Probably I wish I had one,
- 26:52Speaker 1: that poor guy. The woman chuckles and she's like, I
- 26:55Speaker 1: could buy it because my home job makes me extra money.
- 26:58Speaker 1: The delivery guy, I think stam like his paper, but
- 27:02Speaker 1: it's out of frame, so I'm just guessing that's what's happening.
- 27:04Speaker 1: And he says, even working a job like this, I'd
- 27:07Speaker 1: never be able to afford one of those. Here he
- 27:10Speaker 1: hands her like a not very big package, and she's like,
- 27:14Speaker 1: keep working on it. The delivery guy smiles politely and says,
- 27:18Speaker 1: I will. Yeah. He is just staring at her breasts. No, okay,
- 27:22Speaker 1: so he is not just staring at her breasts now,
- 27:25Speaker 1: he's staring at her entire body. He's basically undressing her
- 27:30Speaker 1: with his eyes. Sure, dude, he continues. If I don't
- 27:34Speaker 1: work at it, I'll never get it. I'm not sure
- 27:36Speaker 1: if he's still talking about the computer. He continues, If
- 27:39Speaker 1: you have any trouble with this or anything, let me know.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I can always teach you. The woman's like, hmm, you
- 27:47Speaker 1: think you can teach me. Yeah, she knows what she's doing.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Delivery guy's like, yeah, I'm pretty talented. The woman chuckles.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Sounds to me like you're trying to seduce a boored housewife.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Is that it? The delivery guy kind of puts his
- 28:01Speaker 1: head in his hand and he's like, well no, I thought, well,
- 28:06Speaker 1: maybe just a little. A kid comes in the door
- 28:11Speaker 1: and walks past him, and he's like, I'm home. The
- 28:14Speaker 1: woman says, well, thank you very much anyway, and closes
- 28:17Speaker 1: the door on him. The delivery guy stares for a
- 28:20Speaker 1: minute and then he kind of scoffs, and I thought
- 28:23Speaker 1: he like what, But the translation said he spits here,
- 28:26Speaker 1: which would be really gross if that's what he did,
- 28:29Speaker 1: So fuck him, and he walks away. Dude, don't be
- 28:32Speaker 1: a jerk if she's not interested, Because she's not interested anyway.
- 28:36Speaker 1: We go back inside and we see the kid playing
- 28:38Speaker 1: video games on the TV, and we're facing the TV,
- 28:42Speaker 1: so we just see the back of him, and he says, Mom,
- 28:45Speaker 1: can I go over Kenyas to play later? I won't
- 28:47Speaker 1: be out late. The woman is taking like a bubble
- 28:51Speaker 1: wrap thing out of the box and she says, if
- 28:54Speaker 1: you're going to play a game, can't you just play
- 28:56Speaker 1: it over the net. The kid's like, but Mom, I
- 28:58Speaker 1: have to be there, geez, let him go see his friend.
- 29:02Speaker 1: We get a close up now on the bubble wrapped
- 29:04Speaker 1: item and it has that symbol on it. The woman
- 29:08Speaker 1: stares at it and narrows her eyes and says, the
- 29:11Speaker 1: wired is really the same thing as the real world.
- 29:14Speaker 1: We now see Lane walking down the street. The shadows
- 29:17Speaker 1: are kind of a blotchy purple instead of red this time.
- 29:20Speaker 1: The power lines are humming as they do. The sky
- 29:24Speaker 1: kind of looks pinkishish or almost like the colors are inverted.
- 29:28Speaker 1: I can't really tell. Then Lane just stops walking and gasps.
- 29:33Speaker 1: The black car you know from the Guys is parked
- 29:37Speaker 1: right in front of her house again, and I haven't
- 29:41Speaker 1: mentioned this yet, but I will. Lane's house is I guess,
- 29:44Speaker 1: kind of on a hill like it's way up from
- 29:46Speaker 1: the street, like you have to walk a couple of
- 29:48Speaker 1: sets of stairs to get to it, and has kind
- 29:50Speaker 1: of like a retaining wall, which makes me happy because
- 29:52Speaker 1: it reminds me of Pittsburgh, and I like Pittsburgh anyway.
- 29:56Speaker 1: She gasps again. As the car doors open and both
- 30:00Speaker 1: of the men step out. She says what the smaller
- 30:04Speaker 1: guy's like, good day, Iwakura. Lane, Would you please walk
- 30:08Speaker 1: this way and step into the car? No, Lane's like,
- 30:14Speaker 1: what the tall guy says, we promise not to force
- 30:18Speaker 1: you in. This is simply a request. Lane takes a breath.
- 30:26Speaker 1: The small guy's like, we have no intention of causing
- 30:28Speaker 1: you any physical harm. You can trust us. You have
- 30:31Speaker 1: my word. I don't know what his word means, like
- 30:34Speaker 1: we don't know you, and are you going to cause
- 30:36Speaker 1: her emotional harm? Lane's like, who are you? The tall
- 30:41Speaker 1: guy removes his goggles and reveals his gorgeous blue eyes,
- 30:45Speaker 1: and Lane takes a step back and gasps slightly because
- 30:48Speaker 1: they're so pretty. I don't think that's what happened, but
- 30:50Speaker 1: they really are beautiful. And he says, if you promise
- 30:55Speaker 1: to come along with us quietly, you'll find out sounds
- 30:58Speaker 1: like a threat, Lane's kind of stares at him, and
- 31:01Speaker 1: then we fade to black. Huh. We see a multicolored
- 31:05Speaker 1: screen with mostly red and green text I think on it,
- 31:10Speaker 1: and we're back to that kind of almost infrared image
- 31:12Speaker 1: of outside somewhere, and that guy who was walking down
- 31:16Speaker 1: the street with the helmet on and everything. We hear
- 31:19Speaker 1: him say I don't want to be here. He's panting.
- 31:23Speaker 1: You understand all the reasons, don't you. Just Look at
- 31:26Speaker 1: all I can do. It's unbelievable how far I'm traveling
- 31:29Speaker 1: into it. Look at all this. I'm finally breaking down
- 31:32Speaker 1: the barrier between the real world and the world inside
- 31:35Speaker 1: the wired A window pops up that says peeping, and
- 31:38Speaker 1: now we see him walking down the street again. He
- 31:40Speaker 1: has like the creepiest smile and he's just chuckling to himself.
- 31:44Speaker 1: And then I lost subtitles for a minute, so I
- 31:47Speaker 1: don't know how complete this is, but anyway, he continues,
- 31:50Speaker 1: come on, I think I'm pretty qualified. You just have
- 31:53Speaker 1: to give me a chance. I can handle anything you
- 31:55Speaker 1: throw at me. We see the screen again and a
- 31:58Speaker 1: window pops up that says accept, Oh, that's nice, and
- 32:02Speaker 1: then we see a window with like green moving lines,
- 32:06Speaker 1: and it like pops up and takes over the screen.
- 32:09Speaker 1: The guy continues, let me into the nights. You're pretty
- 32:12Speaker 1: impressed with me. Huh. I tracked you down all by
- 32:14Speaker 1: myself without any assistance. This is your dedicated secret channel. Right.
- 32:19Speaker 1: The screen starts to get like fuzzy and like you know,
- 32:22Speaker 1: pixelated and noisy. The guy continues, come on, won't you
- 32:25Speaker 1: make me one of you. We see his camera lens,
- 32:29Speaker 1: you know, zoom in on something, and then all of
- 32:33Speaker 1: a sudden, Lane is on his screen. Like the signal's
- 32:38Speaker 1: kind of weak and pixelated, but it's Lane standing there,
- 32:41Speaker 1: and we hear him walking, but she's just a static
- 32:44Speaker 1: image on his screen, and he's like, uh, who are you.
- 32:49Speaker 1: We kind of a close up of her face, smiling
- 32:52Speaker 1: like in just the most uncomfortable way. We now see
- 32:55Speaker 1: cars driving down the city streets, and the black car
- 32:59Speaker 1: stops in front of the building. We see Lane looking
- 33:01Speaker 1: out the car window at the building. You know, we're
- 33:05Speaker 1: seeing her from outside of the window, and there's this
- 33:07Speaker 1: really cool reflection of the building on the glass, which
- 33:10Speaker 1: I thought was cool. Like I just said, we kind
- 33:13Speaker 1: of panned down from the top of the building and
- 33:15Speaker 1: the shorter guy looks in the window at her and
- 33:16Speaker 1: Link gasps, and he opens the door. She gets out
- 33:20Speaker 1: and looks around and they all start to walk in.
- 33:23Speaker 1: The tall guy is leading, she's in the middle, and
- 33:26Speaker 1: the smaller guy is like closer to her or slightly
- 33:28Speaker 1: behind her. They pass some mailboxes and then they go
- 33:31Speaker 1: up a flight of stairs and Lane looks pretty worried.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I don't know that I would have gone with them
- 33:36Speaker 1: because I don't really trust them. But okay, we now
- 33:39Speaker 1: see a sign on a door that says Tachibana Labs
- 33:42Speaker 1: Shinbashi office. I'm pretty sure Tachibana is the company that
- 33:46Speaker 1: made Lane's computer, if I'm remembering correctly, because I remember
- 33:49Speaker 1: saying like, I feel like that might be important when
- 33:52Speaker 1: it said like who made the computer, but I wasn't sure.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Pretty sure was Tachibana. Anyway, They're standing in front of
- 33:59Speaker 1: this door with the sign on it, and Lane looks
- 34:03Speaker 1: at both of them, and the tall guy opens the
- 34:06Speaker 1: door and like a beam of light kind of hits
- 34:09Speaker 1: her in the face as he does, so the door
- 34:11Speaker 1: is open, and she's just standing there at the open
- 34:14Speaker 1: door until he finally kind of pushes her inside, which
- 34:18Speaker 1: seems mean. Lane looks around and we hear a voice say,
- 34:22Speaker 1: could you come here for a minute. There's a guy
- 34:25Speaker 1: sitting in like basically an empty room on just like
- 34:28Speaker 1: a folding metal chair, with like a phone and maybe
- 34:32Speaker 1: a computer on the floor in front of him, and
- 34:34Speaker 1: he has his back to us. In Lane, he continues,
- 34:37Speaker 1: I can't get the main office's firewall to recognize this machine.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I've done everything I can on the application end of things.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Lane just kind of stares at him, and we get
- 34:46Speaker 1: a better look at what's in front of him. So
- 34:48Speaker 1: it's a black rotary phone, a computer monitor, and like
- 34:51Speaker 1: an open computer case. And he continues, it's hopeless with
- 34:55Speaker 1: an old machine like this one, but I've gotten so
- 34:57Speaker 1: used to using the thing. Lane over to him. The
- 35:01Speaker 1: guy continues, I just can't work up the interest to
- 35:03Speaker 1: switch to a new novvey I guess. He turns his
- 35:06Speaker 1: head to her. No, not at my age, He smiles
- 35:09Speaker 1: kind of slyly. He has kind of brown slipped black
- 35:13Speaker 1: hair and either dark brown or dark gray eyes. He
- 35:16Speaker 1: looks like a little bit older. Laane is just kind
- 35:18Speaker 1: of looking down at the computer. I think, and he continues,
- 35:21Speaker 1: if I were as young as you Lane says that
- 35:24Speaker 1: jumper over there. Guy's like huh. Lane walks a little closer,
- 35:28Speaker 1: kneels down and points to something inside the computer. Try
- 35:32Speaker 1: removing this jumper and that jumper over there. The guy
- 35:35Speaker 1: holds out something to her, but I couldn't tell what
- 35:37Speaker 1: it was, and he says, I'm sorry, but could you
- 35:40Speaker 1: possibly do that for me please? Lane's like huh. She
- 35:44Speaker 1: turns her head and looks at the blurry object in
- 35:47Speaker 1: his hand. Thank you for making it blurry so it
- 35:50Speaker 1: was confusing to me. And we see that the two
- 35:53Speaker 1: other guys are just watching this, and then we see
- 35:55Speaker 1: that they're tweezers. Why was that so hard? Laane takes
- 35:59Speaker 1: out a little black square thing from inside the computer.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I don't know what it is, and then she puts
- 36:04Speaker 1: like a green board thing inside it instead, and the
- 36:08Speaker 1: guy is watching, of course, and he's like hmm. We
- 36:11Speaker 1: see a hand flip on the power switch and then
- 36:14Speaker 1: press the computer power button and the screen comes up
- 36:18Speaker 1: that says Communication OS with like a little logo on it,
- 36:22Speaker 1: and then a circle comes on the screen and NAVI
- 36:25Speaker 1: says authorized. The screen says Lane, authorized user. Yes, she
- 36:30Speaker 1: typed in her information. I hope the guy kind of
- 36:33Speaker 1: leans in and he's like huh. Then we hear a
- 36:36Speaker 1: distorted voice from the computer that goes, so, Lane, are
- 36:40Speaker 1: you one of the nights? Lane gasps. We see Lane's
- 36:43Speaker 1: face on the screen and the voice is like, you
- 36:46Speaker 1: are aren't you Lane? He chuckles, it's that weird guy
- 36:50Speaker 1: walking down the street, by the way, I had no idea.
- 36:52Speaker 1: The screen cuts to like an even closer view of
- 36:55Speaker 1: Lane and the screen Lane says, idiots. Yeah, I don't
- 36:59Speaker 1: know what's going on now. We see that like infra
- 37:02Speaker 1: red screen again, so it's clearly the guy walking down
- 37:04Speaker 1: the street and he continues, No, wait, please listen to me.
- 37:08Speaker 1: That game, the one you've been playing with all the
- 37:10Speaker 1: kids lately, it's the greatest. You gotta get me in
- 37:13Speaker 1: on the action. He chuckles. You're the only one I
- 37:15Speaker 1: can turn to. Just give me a break, just this once. Lane,
- 37:19Speaker 1: a window pops up on the screen and says peeping again,
- 37:22Speaker 1: and he continues, but I have a better idea. Please
- 37:25Speaker 1: make me one of you, make me a night. Please.
- 37:29Speaker 1: We see Lane now, like real Lane, like sweating and
- 37:32Speaker 1: freaked out, and I don't know what's going on because
- 37:36Speaker 1: like she's on the screen talking to this guy. But
- 37:38Speaker 1: she's in the room, and I'm pretty sure she didn't
- 37:39Speaker 1: just call him an idiot, So what the fuck? Anyway,
- 37:43Speaker 1: the guy continues, Please, I'll do anything you ask me.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Just let me in, please, Lane, the guy in the room,
- 37:49Speaker 1: not the crazy guy, says, some say the wire doesn't
- 37:53Speaker 1: have political borders like the real world. The weird guy continues,
- 37:57Speaker 1: why don't you just do it? And the guy in
- 38:00Speaker 1: the room just turns off the computer and he continues talking.
- 38:03Speaker 1: But with this freedom, there's a price to pay. Laane
- 38:07Speaker 1: stands up. He continues, I'm talking about nonsense spouting anarchists
- 38:11Speaker 1: and idiots who think that pranks add up to a revolution. However,
- 38:15Speaker 1: the Knights are different. They don't seem to be anarchists
- 38:18Speaker 1: or idiots at all. Laane is just shaking, and she
- 38:22Speaker 1: says the Knights. The guy continues, I'm not sure you're
- 38:26Speaker 1: completely aware of the power you have inside of you,
- 38:29Speaker 1: but you should know that your presence in the wire
- 38:32Speaker 1: is an extremely unnatural and disturbing phenomenon. Fuck, the Knights
- 38:37Speaker 1: are interested in you for what reason we haven't figured
- 38:40Speaker 1: out yet, but they're out there watching. Laane is just
- 38:43Speaker 1: shaking and sweating, and she brings her hands like to
- 38:46Speaker 1: her face. She says, I don't understand. I don't understand
- 38:53Speaker 1: what you're saying. The guy continues, the Knights, I understand
- 38:57Speaker 1: Lane that you've spoken directly to them at some point.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Waine's like, but I don't don't remember. The guy says,
- 39:04Speaker 1: at any rate, from the looks of it, it appears
- 39:07Speaker 1: they want to accomplish something by using you, and we
- 39:10Speaker 1: believe that that is something that must be prevented at
- 39:12Speaker 1: all costs. Layne is still shaking, and she says, who
- 39:16Speaker 1: are you? What are you people? The guy just stares
- 39:20Speaker 1: at her, which sucks, and the other guy is just
- 39:23Speaker 1: stare at her too, which sucks even more, Like fucking
- 39:27Speaker 1: stop not telling her things. We cut back to that
- 39:30Speaker 1: guy who's outside screen and it's kind of dark, like
- 39:35Speaker 1: maybe it's nighttime now, kind of mostly black and blue,
- 39:39Speaker 1: and he kind of chuckles and he's like, Oh, your
- 39:41Speaker 1: secret's saved with me. You bet what it's true? You
- 39:45Speaker 1: believe in Dais and all these stands for? Is that right?
- 39:48Speaker 1: I'll follow your lead. Then I think he's going upstairs now,
- 39:51Speaker 1: like maybe he's coming out of a subway station. But wait,
- 39:56Speaker 1: is it really true. Is God really in the wired
- 39:58Speaker 1: or is it just a rumor. I'm not quite ready
- 40:00Speaker 1: to believe in all that yet, but if you let
- 40:02Speaker 1: me join you, I'll certainly be able to learn more.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Don't you think then I'll be able to believe anything
- 40:07Speaker 1: you want me to. He's really fucking pushing it. It
- 40:10Speaker 1: looks like there's a group of people in front of him.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Now they're a little pixelated, but they don't look like
- 40:15Speaker 1: the rest of the surrounding. And he says, what he's
- 40:19Speaker 1: zooming in on them? And there's a woman and a
- 40:21Speaker 1: guy in a suit, and some other guy and something else,
- 40:25Speaker 1: And he says, is that really you? You came for me? Right?
- 40:28Speaker 1: The screen gets all pixelated, and then we have a
- 40:31Speaker 1: close up on the woman's face and it is that
- 40:33Speaker 1: woman from the apartment who just got the new computer
- 40:37Speaker 1: or whatever the hell she got. The guy continues, you
- 40:41Speaker 1: came to pick me up. The screen cuts the static. Yeah,
- 40:47Speaker 1: we see fluorescent lights on a ceiling and we're back
- 40:50Speaker 1: in the room with Lane and the guy that she's
- 40:53Speaker 1: talking to continues, my name, it's totally meaningless to know
- 40:57Speaker 1: my real name. These gentlemen and I don't have names
- 40:59Speaker 1: that in me anything to you, I'd like them so
- 41:02Speaker 1: I could stop calling you like that. Guy. Lane turns
- 41:06Speaker 1: to look at the other two guys and she kind
- 41:07Speaker 1: of staggers, and then she starts to walk towards them,
- 41:11Speaker 1: and the guy at the computer says, now I have
- 41:14Speaker 1: to know something. Lane stops. He says, tell me iwakuda, Laine?
- 41:19Speaker 1: Are you and the Lane in the wired in reality
- 41:22Speaker 1: one and the same person? Lane is still shaking and
- 41:26Speaker 1: she gasps that continues, Who are you Lane? Lane says,
- 41:32Speaker 1: I'm I'm The guy continues, do you know if your
- 41:35Speaker 1: parents are truly your real parents? Fuck? Lane turns back
- 41:39Speaker 1: to him really quickly and says, what the guy's like,
- 41:42Speaker 1: is your sister your real sister? Lane says, what are
- 41:47Speaker 1: you asking me? Of course? Definitely. The guy continues, how
- 41:51Speaker 1: about your father's birthday? Can you tell me when it is?
- 41:55Speaker 1: Laine is like really sweating now, and she says, well, well, sure,
- 42:00Speaker 1: her dad's birthday. He finally stands up and is like,
- 42:04Speaker 1: how about your mother's birthday? When's that? Do you have
- 42:07Speaker 1: any idea when your parents got married? Did they meet
- 42:10Speaker 1: or was it arranged? Tears are starting to well in
- 42:12Speaker 1: Lane's eyes and she's taking like really short breaths, and
- 42:15Speaker 1: she says, that's something I really don't know. She just
- 42:19Speaker 1: starts to like fully cry. At this point, I that's
- 42:22Speaker 1: because I I. The guy says, how could you not know?
- 42:27Speaker 1: You never even asked them, You've never celebrated a birthday
- 42:30Speaker 1: in your family? Then you can remember, Laine is sniffling,
- 42:34Speaker 1: how about when you were a little girl? Not even
- 42:36Speaker 1: Then Lane falls to the floor and she's just like
- 42:40Speaker 1: hugging her knees and crying. This is really mean, this
- 42:44Speaker 1: is a child, and the guy very calmly says, when
- 42:48Speaker 1: were you born? Lane? Lane puts her hands on her head, shaking,
- 42:51Speaker 1: and she's like, what what does it matter? The guy's like,
- 42:56Speaker 1: you don't know, you don't know any of it. Laane
- 42:58Speaker 1: shakes her head no, and then she drops her hands
- 43:01Speaker 1: to her side, and the guy continues, are you okay? Fuck?
- 43:05Speaker 1: I don't think she's okay. Are you sure you have
- 43:07Speaker 1: nothing to tell me? Lane gets to her feet, but
- 43:10Speaker 1: then kind of like loses her balance and almost falls over.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Really nice animation here, and she says, why don't you
- 43:16Speaker 1: shut up? Fuck? Who the hell cares about any of
- 43:20Speaker 1: that shit? To waste my time? What the fuck Lane. Yeah,
- 43:24Speaker 1: and they're all like, what the fuck. The guy says,
- 43:27Speaker 1: I see, so you're the Lane of the Wired, aren't you.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Lane's like, what if I am? The guy says, even
- 43:35Speaker 1: without a device, you must be aware that, barring some
- 43:37Speaker 1: unforeseen miracle, the border between the real world and the
- 43:41Speaker 1: world of the wired is starting to crumble. Fuck. Lane's like, so,
- 43:46Speaker 1: the guy says, we're of the opinion that this is
- 43:49Speaker 1: extremely dangerous. Lane smiles, sounds very interesting. Huh. She kind
- 43:55Speaker 1: of flips her hair as she turns and starts to
- 43:57Speaker 1: walk away. The guy just stay at her, maybe a
- 44:01Speaker 1: little bit amused or unnerved. I don't really know. Lane
- 44:04Speaker 1: has walked over to the two other guys who were
- 44:06Speaker 1: standing by the door, and she says, move it. She
- 44:09Speaker 1: just kind of pushes past them and starts to walk
- 44:11Speaker 1: out the door. The tall guy grabs her by the
- 44:14Speaker 1: arm and pulls her back and I wrote his eyes
- 44:17Speaker 1: are so blue they really are. Lane says. What. The
- 44:21Speaker 1: tall guy's like, you're the one. You're what's dangerous. Lane
- 44:25Speaker 1: stares at him like super pissed off, and the guy
- 44:27Speaker 1: by the computer says, Carl waits finally a name. Lane
- 44:32Speaker 1: pulls her arm away from Carl yay and just walks
- 44:35Speaker 1: out the door and she's like, hummm. The guy by
- 44:38Speaker 1: the computer says, hmmm, it's exactly as she said. Something
- 44:42Speaker 1: interesting is about to unfold. We should just watch from
- 44:44Speaker 1: the sidelines. We fade to black. We seen that kid
- 44:48Speaker 1: playing video games again, and his mom walks into frame
- 44:51Speaker 1: and is like, show chn She's like, what, mom. The
- 44:55Speaker 1: mom says, let me play too. Okay, She's like, are
- 44:58Speaker 1: you done with work already? The mom sits down next
- 45:01Speaker 1: to him and says, you bet. She picks up like
- 45:04Speaker 1: two joystick looking controllers and it's like, you know, I'm
- 45:07Speaker 1: the greatest there is. I'm gonna take you down. Show
- 45:10Speaker 1: just you wait. For some reason. We have cut away
- 45:12Speaker 1: from them now and we're zooming in on the kitchen sink,
- 45:16Speaker 1: which is weird, and we hear the mom say, see,
- 45:19Speaker 1: I told you you better say your prayers. She kind
- 45:21Speaker 1: of chuckles. We now zoom in on this little I
- 45:25Speaker 1: think compost container in the corner of the sink, and
- 45:28Speaker 1: I think compost because it has like broken eggshells and
- 45:31Speaker 1: stuff in it. But on top of that is like
- 45:34Speaker 1: a green computer chip piece thing that looks like it's burned,
- 45:39Speaker 1: just sitting in this compost and it has that symbol
- 45:43Speaker 1: on it. We fade out. We cut to a staticky
- 45:46Speaker 1: black screen with something fading in but we really don't
- 45:49Speaker 1: see what it is. And then cars driving down the streets.
- 45:53Speaker 1: The camera starts to pan down the side of the
- 45:55Speaker 1: road into like this ditch that's just like filled with
- 45:58Speaker 1: trash and shits. And also that guy with the camera
- 46:02Speaker 1: on him just face down in a puddle, his headset,
- 46:06Speaker 1: screen still on. We get a close up on the
- 46:09Speaker 1: screen now and something is kind of fading into the static.
- 46:13Speaker 1: It's that symbol to be continued, and then we go
- 46:16Speaker 1: to the ending theme and that's it. Yay, I think
- 46:21Speaker 1: closing thoughts. Okay, so what so? First, I am really
- 46:27Speaker 1: concerned that we went from Lane's room blowing up to
- 46:30Speaker 1: it just being fine. I mean, I could say, well,
- 46:33Speaker 1: maybe the explosion wasn't that big, but I would assume
- 46:35Speaker 1: it would have at least affected her cooling system in
- 46:38Speaker 1: a way that she'd have to redesign it. I don't know,
- 46:41Speaker 1: maybe that was a big time skip. It's just like,
- 46:45Speaker 1: what the fuck did that really happen? Did her room
- 46:48Speaker 1: really explode? What is going on here? How did things
- 46:53Speaker 1: get back to normal? And how come her parents didn't say, like,
- 46:55Speaker 1: you can't do this anymore because you're blowing up the house.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Like what's going on with everyone? And who the fuck
- 47:01Speaker 1: are the Knights? I mean, it looks like we've met
- 47:04Speaker 1: some of them. Looks like it's that woman maybe, and
- 47:08Speaker 1: maybe that dude that was in that office, And it
- 47:11Speaker 1: looks like they don't want people knowing too much because
- 47:14Speaker 1: they killed that crazy guy was walking down the street
- 47:16Speaker 1: with the virtual reality helmet on him. So what's going on?
- 47:21Speaker 1: And who is Lane? Why doesn't she remember her parents' birthdays?
- 47:25Speaker 1: Why doesn't she know her birthday? Or is it possible
- 47:29Speaker 1: that she just got so worked up being in that
- 47:31Speaker 1: office with that dude that she just she just like
- 47:35Speaker 1: became so immobilized that she couldn't think. Because I think
- 47:39Speaker 1: that that could happen too, maybe, But I don't think
- 47:41Speaker 1: that's what I'm supposed to get from this. I think
- 47:43Speaker 1: I'm supposed to get that something is truly, truly wrong
- 47:46Speaker 1: with the situation. And I remember telling you a couple
- 47:50Speaker 1: episodes ago when Lane was hanging out with those things
- 47:53Speaker 1: that were just in her room and she was talking
- 47:55Speaker 1: to them, that I thought it was interesting when she
- 47:58Speaker 1: asked her hovering mom and dad if they were really
- 48:00Speaker 1: her mom and dad. And I mean that because of this,
- 48:03Speaker 1: because maybe they're not. But then who is she and
- 48:07Speaker 1: why doesn't she know? But also it's like, does she
- 48:11Speaker 1: have multiple personalities? Like is she experiencing dissociative identity disorder
- 48:17Speaker 1: where she's got like a wired personality and a real
- 48:21Speaker 1: world personality where she is one in one circumstance and
- 48:24Speaker 1: not in the other. Is she switching because she feels
- 48:27Speaker 1: threatened and she wants to kind of dissociate from what's
- 48:33Speaker 1: happening to her, so she switches into this confident persona.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Is that what's happening? Is it bigger than that? Is
- 48:40Speaker 1: that why she doesn't remember her mom's birthday and her
- 48:42Speaker 1: dad's birthday and who she is? Basically like I don't know,
- 48:47Speaker 1: or I do know, but still you might not know.
- 48:50Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean, I don't know what to take
- 48:53Speaker 1: from that yet, but it definitely seems like she's not
- 48:57Speaker 1: aware of everything that's happening in the wired Either that
- 49:01Speaker 1: or she's just not a very good liar and she
- 49:03Speaker 1: was trying to figure out how to do a good
- 49:04Speaker 1: job and that got to really upset, and eventually she
- 49:08Speaker 1: just snapped and went into this other personality. Yeah, So
- 49:12Speaker 1: the question is is she aware of what she does
- 49:15Speaker 1: as laying on the Wired or is she not, because
- 49:18Speaker 1: it definitely looks like it's setting it up that she
- 49:21Speaker 1: isn't aware, but I'm not sure yet. And then there
- 49:24Speaker 1: was like one other thing I wanted to talk about.
- 49:27Speaker 1: Several days ago. I was in the shower and I
- 49:29Speaker 1: was like, Oh, I think I understand what's going on.
- 49:32Speaker 1: So a bunch of episodes ago, I said, I was
- 49:34Speaker 1: a little annoyed because I didn't like this whole you know,
- 49:38Speaker 1: Wired being like the pinnacle of evolution and people don't
- 49:40Speaker 1: evolve anymore and shit, And I said something like, I
- 49:43Speaker 1: don't know if that's the beliefs of like the creators
- 49:46Speaker 1: of the anime, or if that's just a belief of
- 49:49Speaker 1: one character. So now I think it's just a belief
- 49:51Speaker 1: of one character, because I think what I'm seeing is
- 49:54Speaker 1: an idealized version of the Wired and how it's going
- 49:57Speaker 1: to connect people and how it's gonna allow people to
- 50:02Speaker 1: achieve great things, and then what's actually happening with the
- 50:06Speaker 1: Wired is just horrible. Like I don't know if we've
- 50:08Speaker 1: seen anything good from The Wired, Right, We've seen that
- 50:12Speaker 1: game where kids are like giving their psychic energy to Lane.
- 50:17Speaker 1: I don't know what that is. We've seen that game
- 50:20Speaker 1: of tag got messed up with like a first person
- 50:23Speaker 1: shooter and then several people died. This dude just knew
- 50:29Speaker 1: too much about the Knights and he was killed. There's
- 50:31Speaker 1: all these like hacking events occurring. So I'm not seeing
- 50:35Speaker 1: anything positive. Actually, Laine has already started to separate herself,
- 50:40Speaker 1: at least she said in this episode, because of how
- 50:42Speaker 1: different she felt on The Wired. Which then it's like, well,
- 50:45Speaker 1: maybe she is the same person. Maybe she doesn't have
- 50:48Speaker 1: multiple personalities. Maybe she just only feels confident enough to
- 50:53Speaker 1: express herself fully sometimes when she feels like she's in
- 50:58Speaker 1: a more safe environment and she's not in front of people,
- 51:02Speaker 1: she's like behind a computer or in a simulation of
- 51:05Speaker 1: some sort. I don't know. But anyway, what I was
- 51:07Speaker 1: trying to say was, is the message of this that's
- 51:10Speaker 1: despite what we want to create, Because people exist, we
- 51:15Speaker 1: don't really have control of what the product turns out as.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Maybe that's just kind of my take right now, when
- 51:25Speaker 1: I could totally be wrong. I'm not even sure that
- 51:30Speaker 1: made any sense, and I felt like there was something
- 51:32Speaker 1: else I needed to say there, and I just kind
- 51:34Speaker 1: of forgot it. Oh right, he's gonna say. I don't
- 51:37Speaker 1: really feel like that's much different than what's happening with
- 51:41Speaker 1: the Internet, and particularly like right now. I mean, since
- 51:45Speaker 1: the beginning of the Internet, people have always kind of
- 51:48Speaker 1: had different personas online and shit, but obviously I think
- 51:51Speaker 1: with like social media and everything, it's just gotten exacerbated
- 51:54Speaker 1: to the point where people really are just totally different
- 51:58Speaker 1: individuals versus how they would act in you know, real
- 52:03Speaker 1: normal society. But also like how blended the world is
- 52:08Speaker 1: between the online and the offline, and you know, in
- 52:11Speaker 1: this they're talking about like how they're both going to
- 52:14Speaker 1: be kind of one thing, and I think we've already
- 52:18Speaker 1: passed that here in our actual world, there's not really
- 52:22Speaker 1: a distinct, you know, separation between the Internet and the
- 52:26Speaker 1: real world because it's so much of it carries into
- 52:28Speaker 1: our daily lives. I don't know. So I was just
- 52:31Speaker 1: thinking about that and that shit, and I wish that
- 52:34Speaker 1: made more sense, but hey, I'm just a person watch
- 52:39Speaker 1: an an anime, what do I know? So I think
- 52:42Speaker 1: that's going to be it for this week. I will
- 52:45Speaker 1: of course see if the next time that we do this,
- 52:48Speaker 1: which will you know me next week unless something terrible
- 52:51Speaker 1: happens to me or you, So hopefully it doesn't happen
- 52:54Speaker 1: to you because I like you, and then I would
- 52:58Speaker 1: also prefer it doesn't happen to me too. Yay. So
