- 4:20Speaker 1: So I am ready.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Oh you're bringing the laptop to correct.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Well, yeah, that's gonna come with me obviously. Okay, but

- 4:36Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Please don't step on my toe. It's still.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I stepped on. I stept on all kinds of toes
- 4:45Speaker 1: this week. The digital toes included uh no, yeah, not
- 4:52Speaker 1: planning on it. I have a very nice sensible shoe
- 4:56Speaker 1: that is pretty flat like my soul. That's and uh
- 5:03Speaker 1: and yeah, oh do you want do you want my?
- 5:05Speaker 4: Now?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Listen, I know the answer is what this is gonna be,
- 5:08Speaker 1: but it's up to you. Do you want my my, my,
- 5:11Speaker 1: my pink shirt, my purple shirt, what do you want?
- 5:14Speaker 2: I think you should bring them all and then we decide.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I would bring them, Okay.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I was like, I'm not checking a whatever it is
- 5:22Speaker 1: is going to pack and fit in my carry on.
- 5:24Speaker 1: But I ain't checking nothing as.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Long as you don't have a problem with me ironing it.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Oh no, I would. I would. Actually, I was planning
- 5:33Speaker 1: on asking you if you had a steamer.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I have that too, So okay, I'm a girl. I
- 5:39Speaker 2: love that.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Okay, guys, we got one more big announcement before we
- 5:43Speaker 3: go in the show. It's our biggest one of the week.
- 5:46Speaker 2: All right.
- 5:46Speaker 3: So this week t C W T Media has decided

- 6:07Speaker 2: I think we've.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Done what twenty four hours almost this week. But anyway,
- 6:12Speaker 3: it's totally awesome. We're currently in week one of the

- 6:43Speaker 3: also have guests that come on as well, such as Buffy.
- 6:46Speaker 2: And Annie and even Terry was on and we just
- 6:49Speaker 2: have a good time.
- 6:49Speaker 3: So tomorrow eight thirty am, come join us for couch
- 6:53Speaker 3: Court with Lama. And that's all I got for you
- 6:57Speaker 3: guys today. So let's go over drinking and get an
- 7:00Speaker 3: to this because I'm sure.
- 7:02Speaker 2: The problem with Muffy though it says I'm sad, What
- 7:05Speaker 2: does she mean she's sad?
- 7:07Speaker 3: I am sacked. I think sat and ready to go.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I don't know what that means.
- 7:15Speaker 3: But yeah, so it's been a very exciting week doing
- 7:18Speaker 3: that show. It's fine, it's what are.
- 7:23Speaker 2: You drinking tonight? Mister j T.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Well, you know this this may As we were putting
- 7:32Speaker 1: this together, I realized that this may or may not
- 7:35Speaker 1: be one of the darker and you know, it's one
- 7:39Speaker 1: of those scripts where you know, it's one of those
- 7:42Speaker 1: cases where it's like this is very cringe, but also
- 7:47Speaker 1: it's part of the story and it was very dark.
- 7:50Speaker 1: So okay. In short, I decided that I was going
- 7:52Speaker 1: to forego the wine, I know, but I decided to
- 7:56Speaker 1: go with a dark beer, so Guinness it is. I
- 8:00Speaker 1: brought a whole six pack up with me because I'm
- 8:02Speaker 1: gonna need it.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah, six Guinness.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I'm already on my second one, but.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Okay, I'm having one of my good old reliables. It's
- 8:17Speaker 2: Josh seven Young Blanc. In the tasting notes, I think
- 8:22Speaker 2: you'll get it. Our seven Young Blanc is Sunshine in
- 8:25Speaker 2: a glass, aromatic and bright with crisp, clean finish. This
- 8:30Speaker 2: wine features flavors of Limon Kiwi and sents of green apple.
- 8:36Speaker 2: And I needed the sunshine and a glass and I
- 8:38Speaker 2: even have a cute little glass tonight.
- 8:40Speaker 3: I love that is that Sammy Sunshines wine?
- 8:43Speaker 2: Did we put her in? It? Should be?
- 8:46Speaker 1: Should be?
- 8:48Speaker 2: We're gonna have to let.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I love how I was like, this is a dark
- 8:53Speaker 1: case of picking a dark beer, and you're like, this
- 8:55Speaker 1: is a dark case. I need something.
- 8:57Speaker 3: L Well, I'm just drinking my usual. You have so
- 9:01Speaker 3: many road mescato because.
- 9:05Speaker 2: He just got it. So that's what the closest store had.
- 9:08Speaker 3: One of these days, I will go have time to
- 9:11Speaker 3: go to the store and get.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Double H chair line up before he went to play racketball, like,
- 9:18Speaker 2: can't you grab me a bottle please?
- 9:20Speaker 3: I kind of forgot about having drinking on the show. Tonight,
- 9:24Speaker 3: you know, because I was like, well, you know, I
- 9:26Speaker 3: got to be on the show at eight thirty, so
- 9:28Speaker 3: you know. But then I was like, oh, I drank
- 9:30Speaker 3: all my midday mescato during court, so don't think I don't.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Ah, sammy sunshines here. I thought you were in my bottle.
- 9:40Speaker 2: I must have let her out when I opened the lid.
- 9:44Speaker 3: And Steady Raws welcome O. Come all right, get you.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Why don't you tell us what while you're so interested
- 9:52Speaker 3: to talk about this tonight?
- 9:54Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 9:55Speaker 2: Why you picked this dark hell for us?
- 9:58Speaker 3: That's true? Why they did pick this? Yes, But then
- 10:01Speaker 3: I was also, we're doing it?
- 10:04Speaker 1: Yeah, probably because it's got like local pies to me.
- 10:07Speaker 1: All right, well not me, but okay, anyways, let me
- 10:10Speaker 1: say this upfront. What happened in Riverside, California was and
- 10:13Speaker 1: is devastating. It's one of those stories that kind of
- 10:17Speaker 1: makes you want to triple check every door lock and
- 10:19Speaker 1: update your privacy settings and maybe you can reconsider letting
- 10:21Speaker 1: anyone under thirty explain discord to you, because that's just
- 10:27Speaker 1: skibbitty Ohio and lacks of riz dog. That was really
- 10:30Speaker 1: hard to say. I was not convinced we're moving on,
- 10:34Speaker 1: all right. So, Austin Lee Edwards is a man who
- 10:36Speaker 1: have never worn a badge, let alone been able to
- 10:39Speaker 1: carry a gun. This is not your typical true crime
- 10:42Speaker 1: tale with a clear bad guy and a trail of
- 10:44Speaker 1: red flags. This is a full blown parade of systemic failure.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Somewhere along that kind of parade route, Virginia State Police
- 10:52Speaker 1: lost their good hiring practices float. The story's dark, and
- 10:56Speaker 1: I mean dark, like trigger warnings all over this. This
- 10:59Speaker 1: man is absolute scum of the earth. And that's all
- 11:03Speaker 1: I got to say is about that.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Yikes, you kind of mentioned it, but you know I
- 11:10Speaker 2: chose my wine when Wah asked me what to get
- 11:13Speaker 2: is because this case makes me need sunshine and glass,
- 11:16Speaker 2: because this case is dark and it shows some of
- 11:19Speaker 2: the worst side of a human being, in my opinion.
- 11:24Speaker 2: But the case not only showcases the worst things a
- 11:28Speaker 2: human can do, but also highlights why processes are so important,
- 11:35Speaker 2: especially when it comes to hiring someone who is supposed
- 11:39Speaker 2: to uphold the law enforcement oath of honor and Guys,
- 11:44Speaker 2: I'm going to read that to you because I want
- 11:46Speaker 2: you to have this in your head when we're doing
- 11:49Speaker 2: this on my honor. I will never betray my integrity,
- 11:55Speaker 2: my character, or the public trust. I will always have
- 11:59Speaker 2: the curve to hold myself in others accountable for our actions.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I will always maintain the highest ethical standard and uphold
- 12:10Speaker 2: the values of my community and the agency that I serve.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Now I can tell you the case that we're about
- 12:20Speaker 2: to discuss. I can tell you that the officer that
- 12:23Speaker 2: gave this oath failed. Okay, he was not successful. I
- 12:29Speaker 2: can also tell you that the department and the county
- 12:35Speaker 2: that hired him failed, and because of their failures, guys,
- 12:40Speaker 2: three innocent people lost their lives. Two girls lost their innocence,
- 12:45Speaker 2: and their lives have been changed for ever. Oh that
- 12:51Speaker 2: sounds so dark, terry goodness.
- 12:57Speaker 3: So, I don't really know much about this case. It's
- 13:00Speaker 3: like a couple of things, really, So I'm I think
- 13:05Speaker 3: what I've heard is just that there's some Virginia State
- 13:09Speaker 3: Police nonsense going on. And I find that interesting because
- 13:13Speaker 3: we have some massive Massachusetts State Police things going on
- 13:17Speaker 3: and Karen Reid and you know there there seems to
- 13:21Speaker 3: be issues everywhere, and and what I do know about
- 13:27Speaker 3: this case is disturbing. But I'm in training to learn
- 13:32Speaker 3: more of how how what I do know even got
- 13:38Speaker 3: even happen like I don't. I can't wait to see.
- 13:41Speaker 2: So yeah, I want to know we are and just say,
- 13:47Speaker 2: because we're doing this and you're covering Karen Reid, not
- 13:51Speaker 2: all police officers or law enforcement officers are bad. There
- 13:58Speaker 2: can be bad apple in any career, any department, any company.
- 14:06Speaker 2: I just needed to put that clarification in and all
- 14:09Speaker 2: opinions expressed here are our opinions expressly are owed because
- 14:14Speaker 2: I got some opinions.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I tend to think that bad apples are created
- 14:18Speaker 1: by a bad basket, and the basket should be fixed
- 14:21Speaker 1: to stop the bad apples.
- 14:23Speaker 3: I will say, what I've learned so far is that
- 14:25Speaker 3: there just needs to be more transparency and accountability, you know,
- 14:30Speaker 3: and sometimes you don't get that until after people have died,
- 14:37Speaker 3: you know.
- 14:38Speaker 2: So that's all, and we're going to learn because most
- 14:43Speaker 2: law enforcement departments, even in the count the county where
- 14:47Speaker 2: I'm at, in the emergency response team, our chief says
- 14:50Speaker 2: everything stops with him. If I was to make a
- 14:53Speaker 2: mistake and break my oath, he would hold himself accountable
- 14:57Speaker 2: along with me. This case, that does not happen. Yeah, no,
- 15:07Speaker 2: so let's hop into this yeah, come on, hurry, am
- 15:11Speaker 2: I nice?
- 15:12Speaker 3: Let's tell the story.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Let's go all right, So there's not a ton we
- 15:16Speaker 1: know about Austin Lee Edward's younger life. Get ready to
- 15:21Speaker 1: barf a little? Did we barf a little? Let's collectively okay,
- 15:27Speaker 1: And honestly, it's not because of what he looks like.
- 15:29Speaker 1: It's just what he did. So doing some basic yeah,
- 15:32Speaker 1: doing some basic you know, math slash you know, Lama
- 15:36Speaker 1: was able to get me his exact birthday. It looks
- 15:38Speaker 1: like he was born September one, nineteen ninety four. And
- 15:42Speaker 1: by it looks like, I mean he was. There isn't
- 15:45Speaker 1: much available about his early life. It's kind of hard
- 15:49Speaker 1: to say whether or not his upbringing had much to
- 15:50Speaker 1: do with his final actions. Now, in the announcement for
- 15:54Speaker 1: the graduation of his class from Trooper School, he was
- 15:57Speaker 1: listed as being from a place called Pounding Milly, Virginia.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I look that up and it's real and also literally
- 16:06Speaker 1: in the middle of nowhere, Virginia, five hours west like
- 16:09Speaker 1: they have like three hundred and sixty seven people in
- 16:12Speaker 1: just over two square miles. That's the town They're claim
- 16:15Speaker 1: to fame is made in Spring, which is a farmhouse
- 16:17Speaker 1: where Confederates camped out once was turned into a historic
- 16:21Speaker 1: landmark in nineteen ninety four. There's not a lot happening
- 16:25Speaker 1: no matter the case. We do know that he had
- 16:29Speaker 1: a mental health crisis in twenty sixteen. Now I need
- 16:32Speaker 1: you guys just to you know, hold on tight, because
- 16:35Speaker 1: we're gonna do We're gonna talk about this and then
- 16:37Speaker 1: we're gonna go back and bring it back to you'll see.
- 16:41Speaker 1: So let's talk a little bit about this, the mental
- 16:44Speaker 1: health crisis in twenty sixteen. I think it's important to
- 16:47Speaker 1: say that I'm not bringing this up for nothing. This
- 16:50Speaker 1: plays a large role in the timeline that Terry's gonna
- 16:54Speaker 1: go over both pre and posts this. So we are
- 16:58Speaker 1: gonna kind of tear Tino in February twenty sixteen, when
- 17:02Speaker 1: Austin was twenty one years old. Now we don't know
- 17:05Speaker 1: a ton about what's going on. Well you don't anyways
- 17:08Speaker 1: at this point, but suffice to say, on February seventh,
- 17:11Speaker 1: twenty sixteen, he was watching the Super Bowl with his dad.
- 17:14Speaker 1: They each drank two beers that evening question.
- 17:18Speaker 3: I forgot to ask the chat if anyone in Chat
- 17:20Speaker 3: has heard of this case before. If you have ra
- 17:24Speaker 3: raise your hand and chat. Have you guys heard this before?
- 17:28Speaker 2: I just really buffy to stop talking about apple pie
- 17:33Speaker 2: because I now feel like I need to go bake
- 17:37Speaker 2: an apple pie. So oh yes, please and send me some.
- 17:42Speaker 2: And yes, you can hide a bad apple in it.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Nobody knows.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, I'll know.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Okay, sorry, I'm.
- 17:53Speaker 1: At all costs, so we don't. So they each drank
- 17:59Speaker 1: two beers that evening. Later that night, his dad awoke
- 18:02Speaker 1: to the sound of his son making noise in the bathroom,
- 18:04Speaker 1: which must have been horrifying to his dad. He'd for
- 18:07Speaker 1: many reasons. I'm sure he had no idea what was
- 18:09Speaker 1: going on. He called out to him, but there was
- 18:11Speaker 1: no reply. He got up and he went to the bathroom.
- 18:14Speaker 1: The bathroom door was locked shut, but every good parent
- 18:17Speaker 1: knows a way to unlock their doors, whether it be
- 18:20Speaker 1: a key or a small metal piece to turn the
- 18:22Speaker 1: little lock from the inside, or a screwdriver. In this case,
- 18:26Speaker 1: he had a screwdriver and opened the door and saw
- 18:29Speaker 1: his son with a self inflicted injury to his hand.
- 18:34Speaker 1: It was a cut. His dad didn't know what his
- 18:37Speaker 1: son used to harm himself, but there were knives in
- 18:39Speaker 1: a small hatchet nearby, so there's very little doubt, yeah,
- 18:46Speaker 1: that something else could have happened, right, So his dad
- 18:52Speaker 1: called for an ambulance while his son went to his
- 18:54Speaker 1: room and sat on the bed. And while he was there,
- 18:56Speaker 1: he was repeatedly opening and closing a pocket or folding knife. Strange.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Why why, I mean, he was just in there with
- 19:07Speaker 3: knives and stuff.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I know, we do. We do find out that he
- 19:11Speaker 1: had a collection of all kinds of things.
- 19:14Speaker 2: See, I don't find the pucket knife is weird because
- 19:18Speaker 2: double H carries one in his pocket. A lot of
- 19:20Speaker 2: men do, and when you're nervous, you just sit there
- 19:23Speaker 2: and play with it.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Well, that's not why. I think it's more surprising because
- 19:28Speaker 1: he just had he was just found.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't think it's weird that he
- 19:35Speaker 3: owns one.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, So when his dad let him know that
- 19:41Speaker 1: first responders were on their way, he was reported to
- 19:44Speaker 1: have tried to leave the apartment, and on his way out,
- 19:48Speaker 1: his dad subdued him in the kitchen, which something that's
- 19:52Speaker 1: something else. So EMTs arrived to the apartment and they
- 19:56Speaker 1: found him being held down by his dad's So they
- 19:59Speaker 1: requested lease assistance. Edwards was resisting medical aid and was
- 20:03Speaker 1: attempting to escape his dad's control. When the police arrived
- 20:06Speaker 1: around three point thirty am on February eighth. The next day,
- 20:12Speaker 1: they found a large presence of blood inside. I don't
- 20:15Speaker 1: know what this means really, that a large amount, large presence.
- 20:20Speaker 1: It's all relative, you know, I mean it kind of
- 20:22Speaker 1: sounded like the blood was looming ominously in the corner,
- 20:25Speaker 1: but you know, so the incent reports said that a
- 20:29Speaker 1: lot of blood.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I think between the top and the toilet there
- 20:33Speaker 3: in case anyone can't really make it out. It looks
- 20:35Speaker 3: like that whole dark spot there is And that's a
- 20:39Speaker 3: lot of enough to call nine one one an ant,
- 20:43Speaker 3: like more than just.
- 20:44Speaker 2: The cuts, you know.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, okay, so this is pretty serious here.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Yeah he did something. Also, I really love the quality
- 20:54Speaker 1: of photo, considering it was twenty sixteen. Does anybody have
- 20:57Speaker 1: an iPhone? Also? That's that's Hella tile. That's Hella nineties
- 21:03Speaker 1: a tile. I thought.
- 21:11Speaker 5: Uh.
- 21:12Speaker 1: The incident report said that Edwards continued to resist, refuse
- 21:15Speaker 1: to let empties treat his injury, and continued to escape,
- 21:18Speaker 1: trying to escape his father and at one point, an
- 21:20Speaker 1: officer ordered Edward to show his hands, and in response,
- 21:23Speaker 1: he started threatening everybody, just like the Oprah of threat stingers,
- 21:27Speaker 1: like you get one, and you get one and everybody
- 21:29Speaker 1: gets a threat. Police pulled out a taser, to which
- 21:32Speaker 1: Edwards told the officer freaking use it. His dad pleaded
- 21:36Speaker 1: for the officer not to use the taser and said
- 21:38Speaker 1: that he could subdue him, which, after how long have
- 21:41Speaker 1: you been trying is really my question? But okay, they
- 21:46Speaker 1: finally got him to the ground and.
- 21:47Speaker 3: To let him yeah, attempt that.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh So they finally got him to the ground too,
- 21:57Speaker 1: were able to cuff him and strap him to a stretcher.
- 22:00Speaker 1: He was taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital in Washington County,
- 22:03Speaker 1: where he had a quote apparently serious cut to his
- 22:07Speaker 1: left hand and said a couple of things in front
- 22:09Speaker 1: of authorities that caused some concern, like he would kill
- 22:13Speaker 1: his father and then kill himself the moment he was free.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Cool, Okay, yep, that's a mental health crisis for sure,
- 22:22Speaker 3: like textbook mental health crisis. His father, By the way,
- 22:26Speaker 3: I don't know anything about that guy, but he did
- 22:30Speaker 3: the right thing in this scenario.
- 22:32Speaker 2: It seems absolutely dead.
- 22:34Speaker 3: And that's hard to do, to be that person that
- 22:37Speaker 3: has to do all this.
- 22:40Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, absolutely, And in addition, his dad had
- 22:45Speaker 1: bites on both of his arms from from Edwards, but
- 22:51Speaker 1: he also refused medical treatment.
- 22:57Speaker 2: That's well, if I think I have for the way,
- 23:00Speaker 2: I have a thought on that, because if you get
- 23:03Speaker 2: medical attention, then they're going to have to write up
- 23:06Speaker 2: a police report that he injured someone else. Then it
- 23:10Speaker 2: could become aggravated. I mean, it could become assault at
- 23:14Speaker 2: domestic violence. So by declining to get medical help in
- 23:19Speaker 2: doing a fifty one to fifty type situation, they didn't
- 23:23Speaker 2: follow a report that way.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Okay, that does make sense, even though if you get better,
- 23:27Speaker 3: you should get medical attention because like it can get infected. Absolutely,
- 23:32Speaker 3: maus are disgusting. But okay, that makes sense because obviously
- 23:36Speaker 3: he doesn't want charges or things to happen to his son. Okay,
- 23:42Speaker 3: I suppose that makes sense.
- 23:46Speaker 1: It's a whole other meaning to assault by Canine. No.
- 23:50Speaker 1: A custody order was issued in response to the suicidal
- 23:54Speaker 1: and homicidal statements that were made by Edwards. The LA
- 23:57Speaker 1: Times reported that a judge issued a tellemporary detention order
- 24:01Speaker 1: because of the quote substantial likelihood that, as a result
- 24:04Speaker 1: of mental illness, Edwards will in the near future seriously
- 24:07Speaker 1: harm himself or suffer harm because of his lack of
- 24:10Speaker 1: quote lack of capacity to protect himself from harm or
- 24:13Speaker 1: provide himself with basic needs. This included a barring of
- 24:19Speaker 1: him purchasing, possessing, or transporting firearms. Officials in jurisdictions of
- 24:23Speaker 1: two known addresses for Edwards told the LA Times they
- 24:27Speaker 1: do not have records that show he ever petitioned the
- 24:29Speaker 1: court to actually restore his gun rights, so that never
- 24:33Speaker 1: he never reversed.
- 24:34Speaker 3: That right because you can.
- 24:37Speaker 2: It's right, you can't.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Like they take them away for a good reason.
- 24:43Speaker 3: But it's not like other instances where like you get
- 24:46Speaker 3: it taken away for good like you can like you've
- 24:50Speaker 3: gotten treatment and you feel you're doing better.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Right, And he voluntarily allowed them to commit him. So
- 24:57Speaker 2: even though you voluntarily agree, you lose your rights. That's
- 25:01Speaker 2: why some people, like in Texas do not want to
- 25:06Speaker 2: check themselves in because the minute you do, they can
- 25:08Speaker 2: file for you to lose your rights.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Do you know, is it difficult to get them back?
- 25:18Speaker 3: I don't know, Okay, I was just if anybody knows,
- 25:20Speaker 3: please put it in chat. I'm curious to know if
- 25:24Speaker 3: anyone knows.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Sorry, go ahead, I mean, well, I can tell you, well,
- 25:29Speaker 1: I can tell you Virginia's so the petition for process
- 25:35Speaker 1: for gun rights restoration. The there's no minimum residency requirement,
- 25:42Speaker 1: so if you mood to Virginia Beach, you're not required
- 25:43Speaker 1: to wait an arbitrary amount of time before filing in
- 25:45Speaker 1: Virginia Beach. So you can do it whenever. But the
- 25:48Speaker 1: opposing party is supposed to get a copy of the
- 25:53Speaker 1: petition to the Commonwealth's Attorney. That attorney might not always
- 25:58Speaker 1: be in complete opposition to the so it might not
- 26:01Speaker 1: be a problem. If they are, then they you know,
- 26:03Speaker 1: they obviously could be. But factors that the court consider
- 26:07Speaker 1: circumstances of the individuals involuntary commitment, the person's criminal history,
- 26:10Speaker 1: treatment record, and reputation has developed through character evidence. So
- 26:14Speaker 1: it sounds kind of kind of traditional, like.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, case by case basis, you know, you're getting treatment,
- 26:23Speaker 3: you're depend.
- 26:24Speaker 2: You're owning up to it and accepting responsibility, and you're
- 26:28Speaker 2: trying to do the right thing.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, okay, my apologies.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Being all over the board with that. I just looked
- 26:34Speaker 1: it up. So it was a good question though, because
- 26:37Speaker 1: I didn't know it. So it was quite an evening
- 26:40Speaker 1: to talk about. That's an exhausting night, and it's also
- 26:44Speaker 1: something that should have been kind of foundational piece of
- 26:47Speaker 1: the record. And I do want to say I totally
- 26:51Speaker 1: believe that someone should not be defined by their background
- 26:54Speaker 1: or the mistakes that they've made or the struggles they've
- 26:56Speaker 1: had in the past. I think people can change. However,
- 27:00Speaker 1: I think it is kind of important to consider. And
- 27:02Speaker 1: this isn't the first time he's done something that would
- 27:05Speaker 1: raise eyebrows, so this was an important part of the story.
- 27:10Speaker 3: And he's an adult at this point, right, He's not
- 27:14Speaker 3: a child. He's a grown adult. Yes, legal adult. Okay,
- 27:18Speaker 3: I mean that's not a grown adult in my book,
- 27:20Speaker 3: but you know, illegal well okay.
- 27:23Speaker 2: And they say your brain still hasn't fully developed.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Oh yeah, oh yeah, so, oh.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Dude's brains don't develop ever.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Twenty year old May was a fucking idiot.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Okay, yes you were, and me.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I was right, all right. Now, we learn much later
- 27:47Speaker 2: after something serious happens more details about Austin's mental health crisis,
- 27:55Speaker 2: and that that health crisis in twenty sixteen, was a
- 28:00Speaker 2: result of a predatory relationship. Okay, Okay, so I'm going
- 28:08Speaker 2: to just tell anybody if you know a trigger warning.
- 28:13Speaker 2: If any type of essay or grooming, anything like that
- 28:19Speaker 2: triggers you, you might want to skip the rest of
- 28:23Speaker 2: tonight because it's not pretty, it's not right. But we're
- 28:28Speaker 2: not going to be describing. No, no, but for some
- 28:32Speaker 2: people you don't describe.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Absolutely. I was just asking for an additional warning. Okay.
- 28:40Speaker 1: There are examples of text messages and messages that we're
- 28:43Speaker 1: sent back and forth, so there is some of that.
- 28:46Speaker 1: But yeah, no, we don't get.
- 28:49Speaker 3: But of course here, you know what, if you're not comfortable,
- 28:52Speaker 3: I'll come back another time. We'll always be here, So
- 28:55Speaker 3: no harm, no foul promise.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Okay, yes, Buffy, you did join a cult. I didn't
- 29:01Speaker 2: realize it was a cult either, but you are correct.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Our leader is Tara, and she stubliminally makes us do things,
- 29:11Speaker 2: and apparently she buys stuff and other people go and
- 29:14Speaker 2: buy stuff. That's true.
- 29:18Speaker 1: So but about all that, But everybody's welcome. Everybody's welcome
- 29:24Speaker 1: sounds good.
- 29:26Speaker 2: So in October of twenty fourteen, a twenty year old
- 29:30Speaker 2: Austin Lee Edwards began grooming and stalking a thirteen year
- 29:36Speaker 2: old and we are going to call her Lisa after
- 29:40Speaker 2: they met on amikla A megla, which I amigo, I
- 29:45Speaker 2: have never freaking heard of. But it is an online
- 29:49Speaker 2: platform that randomly pairs use the users together to communicate.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Oh like, oh gosh, what was chat roo? One of
- 30:00Speaker 3: you guys remember the chat days. It's a chat that's
- 30:05Speaker 3: where all the dives. You would go live and they
- 30:09Speaker 3: would just randomly pair you up with somebody and you
- 30:12Speaker 3: both would be on camera. It was when I was
- 30:15Speaker 3: a dumb twenty year old and I would go, well, maybe.
- 30:20Speaker 2: I have never heard of such a thing.
- 30:22Speaker 3: We'd go get drunk. We'd come home, all group of us,
- 30:26Speaker 3: we'd turn on the computer and get on there and
- 30:28Speaker 3: just you know, make fun of anyone because you could
- 30:31Speaker 3: like leave and it would bring you a new person.
- 30:33Speaker 2: It's oh my god, could we away? Could we just
- 30:40Speaker 2: set up a deep dive to get into that one day?
- 30:45Speaker 2: Because I have so many questions going on my head
- 30:49Speaker 2: right now.
- 30:50Speaker 3: You're gonna see a lot of egg plants, Jerry, Okay
- 30:55Speaker 3: to be answered.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Is it just the egg plants for the real life
- 30:59Speaker 2: egg point?
- 31:00Speaker 3: The real life. Oh no, no, wait, yeah, you know
- 31:04Speaker 3: what I mean.
- 31:04Speaker 2: You know, okay, okay.
- 31:10Speaker 3: We would get drunk and then we would point and laugh.
- 31:12Speaker 3: We are kind of mean about it, but also look away.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Okay. Oh honey, no, that's not okay. Oh honey, Yeah,
- 31:23Speaker 2: gods are stupid.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Anyway, back to the story I've shared much person.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Day later, they started talking on Skype, and they bonded
- 31:32Speaker 2: over memes. Initially, I mean, who doesn't who doesn't bond
- 31:37Speaker 2: over funny memes? Right? Yeah, friends, the conversation with him
- 31:43Speaker 2: quickly became sexual, and I'm going to just tell y'all
- 31:46Speaker 2: that picture freaks me out just saying now. One day
- 31:52Speaker 2: after they started chatting on Skype, and guys, I had
- 31:56Speaker 2: to ask double h did you know you could chat
- 31:59Speaker 2: on sky and not just make calls? He goes, well,
- 32:02Speaker 2: I no, you can, now. I was like, no, back
- 32:04Speaker 2: in twenty fourteen you could. I had no idea to
- 32:08Speaker 2: do that. So I'm learning so many new things. But
- 32:12Speaker 2: they chatted, and this is one day after they started
- 32:16Speaker 2: chatting on Skype. Edward sent a message to the lady
- 32:20Speaker 2: I'm calling Lisa that said, and this is the quote, Yo,
- 32:25Speaker 2: what the F I said? I wanted tits waiting on
- 32:29Speaker 2: me when I got back, and this girl responded, I'm
- 32:36Speaker 2: sorry now because at thirteen year old guy, thirteen years old, guys,
- 32:41Speaker 2: you are not mature enough to know how to respond
- 32:43Speaker 2: to this type of sexual stuff. And she is literally
- 32:46Speaker 2: a child. And this is horrible to think that she
- 32:51Speaker 2: even had to come up with the response like that
- 32:54Speaker 2: to a comment. And it makes me want to cry
- 32:56Speaker 2: because guys, as a fifty four year old female, I
- 32:59Speaker 2: would be pissed off if some guy I just started
- 33:02Speaker 2: talking to messaged me this. I get pissed when they
- 33:07Speaker 2: send me pictures of their eggplants in private chats.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Right, nobody's entitled. It's receiving anything, all right, if you're listening,
- 33:17Speaker 3: tell them to go f themselves.
- 33:19Speaker 2: You're not child. She's thirteen, have been child, guys. Monkey
- 33:26Speaker 2: butt will be thirteen this year. Lord help the person
- 33:32Speaker 2: who says that to her.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Babe, your own loser. That's right, So gross this guy,
- 33:40Speaker 3: it's gross already.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I've said some raucous things in my time, mostly on
- 33:45Speaker 1: live Uh, but like that's insane, Like he has a
- 33:51Speaker 1: really odd idea of what communication is. But then again,
- 33:54Speaker 1: I guess I gestured to the entire reason we're doing
- 33:56Speaker 1: this episode.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Yeah. Now, in case that's not bad enough. He also
- 34:02Speaker 2: would drop homophobic and racist slurs, including the use of
- 34:09Speaker 2: the in word, which I am not going to say.
- 34:13Speaker 1: That's just going to write down one more thing on
- 34:17Speaker 1: my list of hate directed at this dude.
- 34:21Speaker 2: And then, guys, he started pressuring Lisa to share nude
- 34:26Speaker 2: photos of herself, even after she disclosed to him that
- 34:31Speaker 2: she had just turned thirteen. I mean, guys, he literally
- 34:37Speaker 2: waited for her to finish school in order to video
- 34:41Speaker 2: chat or be able to respond to him.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Oh gross.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Yeah. So in a conversation Bell, I know, WI gets worse, another.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Hand says so much already, I'm done with him.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Edwards wrote to her, did I hell you? I went
- 35:00Speaker 2: trick or treating, to which she replied nope. Then he
- 35:06Speaker 2: wrote I totally did, and I'm twenty, and she responded
- 35:10Speaker 2: and said me too, I'm thirteen.
- 35:15Speaker 3: What.
- 35:16Speaker 1: There's a lot that's weird about this guy. And that's
- 35:19Speaker 1: an understatement, but like bragging this somebody, listen, that's just
- 35:24Speaker 1: it's a really weird flex, like a really weird flex.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Wow, it's so creepy. And guys, I we're gonna learn
- 35:36Speaker 2: later that she's not his only victim. I also believe
- 35:44Speaker 2: there's other stuff and we just don't know about it. There,
- 35:46Speaker 2: he didn't just wake up when he was twenty and
- 35:48Speaker 2: decided to start doing this. Why would a twenty year
- 35:51Speaker 2: old go trick or treating.
- 35:54Speaker 3: So yeah anyway or tell people about it? Yeah, so
- 35:58Speaker 3: in by your own candy? At when he does he
- 36:00Speaker 3: know that you can buy your own candy. You don't
- 36:02Speaker 3: have to go ask people.
- 36:03Speaker 2: I'm sure his daddy would have bought I mean his
- 36:04Speaker 2: dad would have bought it for the kids and then
- 36:06Speaker 2: just eat it yourself.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Right then.
- 36:10Speaker 2: The conversation also fell to suicide and self harm often,
- 36:15Speaker 2: of course, and he would say that she was the
- 36:17Speaker 2: only person he had and would threaten to kill himself.
- 36:21Speaker 2: He'll ever stopped talking to him. He would show his
- 36:25Speaker 2: handgun a knife collection over video.
- 36:30Speaker 3: I am very badass.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Yeah, And I did go listen to the cryptic podcast.
- 36:38Speaker 2: I think that's what it was called, something like that,
- 36:42Speaker 2: and they actually communicated with this young lady who's now
- 36:48Speaker 2: an adult. But as he also sent her links to
- 36:54Speaker 2: snuff porn ew I hate that at thirteen So you
- 37:04Speaker 2: can go to their Patreon account. They said and read
- 37:07Speaker 2: the four thousand or forty thousand, however many message it was.
- 37:11Speaker 2: I chose not to, but if you want to go
- 37:13Speaker 2: look it up, now I have to go look. I
- 37:17Speaker 2: want to say the Cryptic.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Podcast, yeah, okay, okay, wow. I don't know if I
- 37:24Speaker 3: could bring myself to do that.
- 37:25Speaker 2: But their patreon, I think was cryptic Files or something
- 37:29Speaker 2: paranormal and cryptic. I will find it and I will
- 37:32Speaker 2: share it with guys because I watched their YouTube today.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Now on April tenth, twenty fifteen, he asked her to
- 37:40Speaker 2: skype okay, and Lisa said I can't yet, and he goes,
- 37:47Speaker 2: why is that because my mom kill her? I'm giving
- 37:52Speaker 2: myself a black eye? Okay, wow, right, I till.
- 38:00Speaker 1: You pulled that entire paper and I'm running out of
- 38:03Speaker 1: space that I'm keeping my I hate Austin list on anything.
- 38:07Speaker 2: We're talking about Austin Lee Edwards, not Austin Texas or
- 38:12Speaker 2: Austin to sold my child. So just making tru're all
- 38:16Speaker 2: clear on that. Wow, that's in nose. This guy is instant,
- 38:20Speaker 2: he's and that's what she You know, she comes forward
- 38:24Speaker 2: after the next person. You cannot convince me that was
- 38:29Speaker 2: his first one. I mean at thirteen, she told Later,
- 38:34Speaker 2: she told the guys of the podcast, she goes, I
- 38:36Speaker 2: was scared to tell my mom and I was scared
- 38:40Speaker 2: of him. So but he often referred to Lisa as
- 38:45Speaker 2: his girlfriend, and he would masturbate on camera and try
- 38:50Speaker 2: to pressure her to undress and do the same. Thank God,
- 38:54Speaker 2: she says she never did because it it just felt
- 38:58Speaker 2: bad and she trusted did her gut. Now. On January
- 39:03Speaker 2: twenty seventh, twenty sixteen, Lisa told him that I'm done
- 39:07Speaker 2: with you. I want to break up, okay, and he
- 39:11Speaker 2: pressured her to stay with him, and guys, she must
- 39:14Speaker 2: have agreed because he said, don't do that again. That hurt,
- 39:20Speaker 2: is what he said in one of the messages.
- 39:22Speaker 3: All right, but what a little bitch boy.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I do think there were some mental
- 39:29Speaker 2: health issues with me. I do believe there was something
- 39:33Speaker 2: going on. But still, but four days later.
- 39:40Speaker 3: I've gotten rid of all my sympathy for the stre
- 39:42Speaker 3: It's out the window.
- 39:45Speaker 2: But four days later he said, listen, there's not an
- 39:50Speaker 2: obstacle that's going to stop us from being together if
- 39:53Speaker 2: that's what we both want. He wrote, it doesn't even
- 39:57Speaker 2: matter if you're fourteen and not technically allowed to do
- 40:02Speaker 2: shit yet. She was fourteen by that time. He admitted
- 40:07Speaker 2: in a message to.
- 40:08Speaker 4: Her, Yeah, I would be interested to know if he
- 40:16Speaker 4: has any ties to in cell reddits, subreddits, et cetera.
- 40:21Speaker 1: He seems like in cell material.
- 40:25Speaker 3: I mean, you saw the neck beard in that one
- 40:26Speaker 3: picture here, I'll pull it up.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I had an entire episode with so
- 40:31Speaker 1: it just feels like, yeah.
- 40:33Speaker 2: He did something on a discord channel, and they tell
- 40:37Speaker 2: you about that discord channel but apparently got taken down.
- 40:41Speaker 2: But he was into very not good stuff. Now. The
- 40:46Speaker 2: La Times reported.
- 40:48Speaker 3: I just just real quick that first part, because I
- 40:51Speaker 3: do kind of know that direction the story goes connecting
- 40:56Speaker 3: this past with what's about to happen. That is, we're
- 41:01Speaker 3: about to connect some dots. That first part of that statement.
- 41:04Speaker 3: There's not an obstacle that's going to stop us from
- 41:07Speaker 3: being together.
- 41:08Speaker 2: That is chilling. He's for telling the future. Okay, all right, now,
- 41:15Speaker 2: let's go. The La Times reported that they reviewed nearly
- 41:19Speaker 2: four thousand messages sent over two years provided by the
- 41:23Speaker 2: woman that we're calling Lisa, and guys, she sent them
- 41:28Speaker 2: all to that podcast. If you want to go listen
- 41:31Speaker 2: and they spoke with her and they communicated. She made
- 41:36Speaker 2: the comment that she was lucky to be alive. So,
- 41:41Speaker 2: but the information that really connects the dots. Like JT
- 41:47Speaker 2: said earlier, I'm going to help you put those dots together.
- 41:51Speaker 2: I'm going to do like the prosecutions not doing very
- 41:54Speaker 2: well for me on the Karen Reid trial, he's not
- 41:56Speaker 2: telling the story right or connecting the dots yet, So
- 41:59Speaker 2: I am to do it early on. Okay, I'm going
- 42:01Speaker 2: to connect the dots for you.
- 42:02Speaker 3: And if you don't know what she's talking about, you
- 42:04Speaker 3: can catch couch cart with Mama tomorrow at thirty am.
- 42:07Speaker 3: He starts a time to know exactly what we're talking about.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Go ahead, So, like JT said, we make it to
- 42:14Speaker 2: February seventh. He says, it's Super Bowl. I care more
- 42:17Speaker 2: than it's the week before Valentine's Day.
- 42:19Speaker 3: You know.
- 42:22Speaker 2: That's where I go. I go to the love, not
- 42:24Speaker 2: the sports ball. Now, he told Lisa he wanted to
- 42:28Speaker 2: kill himself, he wouldn't because he loved her. He asked
- 42:33Speaker 2: a video chat on Skype. He was crying and he
- 42:36Speaker 2: had been drinking alcohol. He told Lisa that his life
- 42:41Speaker 2: was awful and was concerned she would leave him. Now,
- 42:46Speaker 2: over chat, he told her that he cut himself. She
- 42:50Speaker 2: asked why, and he said it was an accident. When
- 42:55Speaker 2: she asked him if he was sure it was an accident,
- 42:58Speaker 2: he wrote, no, I might have done it out of sadness.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Oh jeez, what a manipulate piece of shit. That's all
- 43:07Speaker 3: he's doing. He's manipulating a child mm hmm, emotionally manipulating.
- 43:15Speaker 2: And he learns from this experience. We'll learn later. So
- 43:20Speaker 2: on a second video call that same day, Austin sat
- 43:24Speaker 2: in a bathroom with his back pressed to a closed door,
- 43:27Speaker 2: like JT mentioned, and he showed Lisa a cut that
- 43:31Speaker 2: he had made on his hand and the silver hatchet
- 43:34Speaker 2: he used to do it. So he showed her. Okay,
- 43:43Speaker 2: But that video call abruptly ended when Edward's father tried
- 43:47Speaker 2: to come into the bathroom because he heard those weird noises,
- 43:53Speaker 2: and JT told us about the EMTs and stuff. Now,
- 43:56Speaker 2: Austin's dad told the EMTs that his son had girlfriend problem,
- 44:00Speaker 2: and I have a message for his dad, Sir, your
- 44:04Speaker 2: son did not have girlfriend problems. He was the problem. Okay,
- 44:11Speaker 2: he was the problem. Just eed to make sure we
- 44:14Speaker 2: are clear with that he did not have girlfriend problems.
- 44:17Speaker 2: He was the problem. Okay, just making sure I don't
- 44:24Speaker 2: think you. I don't think his dad new, but I
- 44:27Speaker 2: don't want anyone to say, oh, it was a relationship,
- 44:31Speaker 2: No it was not. It was not a girlfriend that
- 44:35Speaker 2: he was the problem. Okay. Now, three days after he
- 44:39Speaker 2: gets taken off, he messaged Lisa again and he told
- 44:44Speaker 2: her a different story. Okay. He told her, I was
- 44:48Speaker 2: walking around outside the other night and slipped and cut
- 44:52Speaker 2: my hand pretty bad, and they thought it was a
- 44:54Speaker 2: suicide attempt. But it was on my hand, not my wrist. Why, Okay, okay,
- 45:04Speaker 2: And he goes on to say the therapist tried to
- 45:07Speaker 2: figure me out, but they didn't find anything wrong. Now,
- 45:13Speaker 2: I want to say there, if you are having a
- 45:15Speaker 2: mental break, it doesn't mean it's still happening twenty four
- 45:18Speaker 2: hours later, and I think that's something that you know,
- 45:21Speaker 2: we do need to acknowledge. But he then said, yeah,
- 45:27Speaker 2: I actually knew a bit about how those places work,
- 45:30Speaker 2: so I just told them everything I wanted to hear.
- 45:33Speaker 2: So they threw me out in two days.
- 45:37Speaker 3: Okay, this day doesn't look that fucking smart, But okay, okay.
- 45:44Speaker 1: It's infuriating. Listen, it's infuriating because it means one of
- 45:48Speaker 1: two things. They're really shitty at their job where he went,
- 45:51Speaker 1: which is more than pausible, or they're understaffed and don't
- 45:55Speaker 1: have time to devote to each patient that comes in
- 45:57Speaker 1: their care, or they simply don't care. And I know
- 46:01Speaker 1: that's three things. I'm bad at math.
- 46:03Speaker 2: And I was like, going, no, that's two. No, that's
- 46:07Speaker 2: I don't know. Now I'm gonna play the devil's advocate
- 46:11Speaker 2: because we all know I like to do that because
- 46:15Speaker 2: I didn't have time to look. But I think I
- 46:17Speaker 2: remember that we're there was some prolific like a serial
- 46:20Speaker 2: killer or somebody who they were very skilled liars, okay,
- 46:25Speaker 2: And it made me think of LaDonna Oh from over It.
- 46:30Speaker 2: Pretend remember her because remember she was able to lie
- 46:35Speaker 2: in fool people for years. Some of them were mental
- 46:39Speaker 2: health professionals, psychologists, psychiatrists. She was able to fool them
- 46:45Speaker 2: for a time. So I'm just saying, I don't think
- 46:49Speaker 2: we can blame the facility one hundred percent.
- 46:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, we clearly know that he's manipulative. That's
- 46:56Speaker 3: his goat, that is his go to here, and so he.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Went on a voluntary hold. They could only keep him
- 47:04Speaker 2: for two days unless they had proof that at that
- 47:07Speaker 2: moment when it was time to be released, that he
- 47:09Speaker 2: was going to hurt himself for others at.
- 47:11Speaker 3: The time, right, because they can only hold you for
- 47:13Speaker 3: what like forty eight seventy two hours probably depending I
- 47:16Speaker 3: think it yeah on the place, or think ten days
- 47:19Speaker 3: or a yeah, something like. All right, was trying to
- 47:22Speaker 3: make himself seem like a fucking genius, but he's not.
- 47:25Speaker 2: I'm saying it could have been those things. I don't know.
- 47:28Speaker 2: I just want I just wanted to more point out
- 47:31Speaker 2: that maybe he was a really good liar and manipulator,
- 47:35Speaker 2: because we see he does it again and he manipulates
- 47:40Speaker 2: some other people.
- 47:42Speaker 3: It's unfortunate. It's unfortunate because clearly he's not okay. You know,
- 47:48Speaker 3: whatever happened, he's still a loser. It needed to be
- 47:52Speaker 3: way more intense than whatever happened here at this point.
- 47:56Speaker 3: But continue on.
- 47:57Speaker 2: I'm so sorry, go ahead.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Jat post yeah, post super Bowl incident. This is still
- 48:03Speaker 1: with Lisa. After February, she showed her communication, She showed
- 48:09Speaker 1: her communication with him. By September or sorry, she slowed
- 48:15Speaker 1: her communication with him. L's don't look like h's. By September,
- 48:19Speaker 1: she had blocked him. He told her he had a
- 48:22Speaker 1: new girlfriend after she blocked him on Facebook. That was
- 48:27Speaker 1: the year she turned fifteen in twenty sixteen. He kept
- 48:31Speaker 1: sending our messages from different Facebook accounts for years. She
- 48:36Speaker 1: was scarce, appropriately so being scared. Luckily, she never told
- 48:41Speaker 1: him her real name, which is good god. It still
- 48:46Speaker 1: didn't end though. In April of twenty twenty, she turned eighteen,
- 48:51Speaker 1: and he tried to call her on Facebook. Then in
- 48:56Speaker 1: December of twenty twenty, he messaged her hey with a
- 48:59Speaker 1: sad face. She then messaged him back and told him,
- 49:03Speaker 1: which I don't suggest, by the way, don't ever message
- 49:06Speaker 1: somebody back. She didn't know any better. It's not her fault.
- 49:10Speaker 1: You shouldn't have to even deal with this. But I'm
- 49:12Speaker 1: just saying any response at all gives them this high,
- 49:16Speaker 1: and they just keep doing it. So anyways, in twenty twenty,
- 49:21Speaker 1: you messaged that hey, She messaged him back, told never
- 49:23Speaker 1: contacted her again. She blocked him. I mean, like overall,
- 49:27Speaker 1: like I'm so angry, I'm so angry, but like just
- 49:33Speaker 1: a few short months later, take it away, Terry.
- 49:38Speaker 2: And I want to say, hopefully there's no thirteen year
- 49:43Speaker 2: old watching this, because we are eighteen and up. But
- 49:47Speaker 2: if you are, tell your parents if something like this happens,
- 49:51Speaker 2: you are not going to get in trouble. You did
- 49:54Speaker 2: nothing wrong, even if you got on the internet when
- 49:57Speaker 2: you weren't supposed to. Just like the day that we
- 50:00Speaker 2: were streaming and my monkey butt popped up in the
- 50:04Speaker 2: chat and she's not supposed to be on this channel,
- 50:08Speaker 2: and I took care of it because what else can
- 50:12Speaker 2: she see or talk to?
- 50:15Speaker 1: Or coming soon one Time brings you True Crime with Lamba,
- 50:22Speaker 1: which is going to be all animated and voiced over
- 50:25Speaker 1: and it's gonna be a good show.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Oh gosh, could you imagine?
- 50:29Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 50:31Speaker 2: I love you, I love you, but I'm sorry, I'm
- 50:36Speaker 2: gonna have to say that I think Buffy should do
- 50:38Speaker 2: that because she does such as Buffy should do it.
- 50:48Speaker 3: Yeah, if you guys, go on our YouTube channel. Under videos,
- 50:52Speaker 3: there is a about a minute and thirteen clip from
- 50:55Speaker 3: Couch Court with Loma where Buffy did an amazing brilliant
- 51:00Speaker 3: reenactment of part of the Karen Reid based on the
- 51:04Speaker 3: Karen Reid Trial.
- 51:05Speaker 2: It's so great. It brings me so much. She's going
- 51:07Speaker 2: to do our animation.
- 51:09Speaker 3: She's the best now fun anyway.
- 51:11Speaker 1: So just a few months later, yeah, just.
- 51:15Speaker 2: A few months later, guys. And when I say a
- 51:18Speaker 2: few months later, after twenty twenty, not when she was thirteen.
- 51:21Speaker 2: So mister Austin Lee Edwards entered the Virginia State Police
- 51:27Speaker 2: Academy on July sixth, twenty twenty one. He graduated in
- 51:31Speaker 2: January and was assigned to the Henrico County Office.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Henriiko.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Oh, Henriiko, I'm sorry.
- 51:42Speaker 1: And the only reason I know that is because I
- 51:44Speaker 1: have to drive through Henriko to get to work. It's
- 51:47Speaker 1: pretty much between me and Richmond, which in karak Out,
- 51:50Speaker 1: and I most assuredly lived here when this was happening.
- 51:53Speaker 2: Wow, Oh that's weird question. This just popped in this
- 51:58Speaker 2: little brain of mine. Is that where Michael Vick was
- 52:02Speaker 2: living when he did the dog thing?
- 52:05Speaker 4: No?
- 52:05Speaker 2: Okay, that was richl.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Was ten minutes away from my childhood home.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Okay, I knew it was near your home. So that's
- 52:12Speaker 2: what made me think, Oh, my god, did he come
- 52:14Speaker 2: from the same place? Okay, Henrico, I forgive you now now.
- 52:20Speaker 2: He then resigned in October of that year. So, guys,
- 52:24Speaker 2: he was employed for nine months with the state. Then
- 52:28Speaker 2: he started as a patrol deputy with the Washington County
- 52:33Speaker 2: Sheriff's Office on November sixteenth, twenty twenty two. Now, I
- 52:40Speaker 2: don't know how it is in Virginia, so please, no
- 52:43Speaker 2: one be offensive. But in Texas, state police are more
- 52:48Speaker 2: prestigious than county. Yeah, our dps, Guysia, And then you
- 52:57Speaker 2: go to the rangers. But so that right to there
- 53:02Speaker 2: give any us what, no, why he resigned? No, And
- 53:06Speaker 2: we're gonna get.
- 53:07Speaker 1: To that, Okay, yeah.
- 53:10Speaker 3: Okay, we'll get to sure getting ahead of the story here,
- 53:12Speaker 3: my bad. Okay, yeah, continue on, Yeah, let's go.
- 53:15Speaker 2: So, and I'm going to say the timeline leads me
- 53:19Speaker 2: to believe he was interviewing for that new position while
- 53:23Speaker 2: still employed, because I looked, you can't resign and then
- 53:30Speaker 2: just two weeks later go to work in another county
- 53:33Speaker 2: unless you are already interviewing. And I'm gonna just say,
- 53:37Speaker 2: as a person who's an HR in recruiting, that I
- 53:42Speaker 2: think might explain some of the failures we're gonna learn later.
- 53:48Speaker 2: So guys, buckle up, Okay, just buckle up, because oh sorry,
- 53:55Speaker 2: in the summer of twenty twenty two, the poa that
- 54:00Speaker 2: was just on your screen connected with a fifteen year
- 54:04Speaker 2: old that lived in California on Instagram. Okay, I'm gonna
- 54:09Speaker 2: call her Beth because I just hate saying hey, that
- 54:13Speaker 2: girl or that teenager. Now Austin had learned from earlier.
- 54:18Speaker 2: He lied, and he told Beth that he was a
- 54:20Speaker 2: seventeen year old boy and would be turning eighteen in
- 54:24Speaker 2: a few months because he didn't want to wigger out.
- 54:28Speaker 2: And guys, this is called catfishing for those of you
- 54:32Speaker 2: that have not heard that term, because when I grew up,
- 54:37Speaker 2: catfishing means you went fishing for catfish because you wanted
- 54:40Speaker 2: them fried and served with hush puppies. So he's twenty
- 54:46Speaker 2: eight aha, uh huh, and yeah, thank you. I was
- 54:50Speaker 2: getting ready to say that, but okay, now I'm hungry
- 54:53Speaker 2: for fried catfish, hushpuppies, and apple pie with ice cream
- 54:57Speaker 2: on the side. Okay, anyway, let's get back. So the
- 55:03Speaker 2: official definition of catfishing is the process of luring a
- 55:08Speaker 2: person into a relationship by a fictional online persona. Okay,
- 55:15Speaker 2: and as we had heard, just Justine Austin was twenty
- 55:21Speaker 2: eight years old, not seventeen, like he said. So, guys,
- 55:25Speaker 2: do some math twenty eight of the fifteen year old, there.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Has to be some other people in between his years
- 55:33Speaker 3: of twenty to twenty eight. You're absolutely right when you
- 55:38Speaker 3: said that earlier yep, and before.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Me, and there was shame to come forward, especially after
- 55:43Speaker 2: you here what happened? Okay, They started a relationship that
- 55:48Speaker 2: she kept secret from her family. They communicated through Instagram,
- 55:52Speaker 2: and they called each other using the discord app.
- 55:55Speaker 3: Oh and they're fun fact that it happen. Role.
- 56:01Speaker 2: This does not happen on the courtyard. The seventeen year
- 56:04Speaker 2: old that knew about discard is in a fifty something
- 56:07Speaker 2: woman who didn't. I mean, I really need to get
- 56:10Speaker 2: with the program. But she lived in Riverside, California, with
- 56:15Speaker 2: her grandparents, her mother, and her younger sister. Oh hold on,
- 56:20Speaker 2: I just saw a comment you grew up with Hams.
- 56:23Speaker 1: JT.
- 56:25Speaker 2: Captain says you grew up with Hams Smithfield hands Bill Hams. Okay,
- 56:30Speaker 2: I was like, going, what is Ham's? Isn't that y'all? State? Bird?
- 56:35Speaker 2: Is ham Ham not a bird? Oh my god, Terry
- 56:40Speaker 2: really needs to you're It was in the movie The
- 56:47Speaker 2: American President. He didn't know what to send the girl
- 56:50Speaker 2: and she was from Virginia or something, so we had
- 56:53Speaker 2: a ham sent to her.
- 56:56Speaker 1: What are you asking if it's the love language.
- 56:58Speaker 2: I'm hey, you send me a ham.
- 57:01Speaker 1: Ye, I'll take it. I will swipe right for a ham.
- 57:04Speaker 2: I will so with princess today.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Yes, eggs too, I know.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Just think of all of the parents who died eggs.
- 57:16Speaker 1: I have to hurt your post that I would have
- 57:19Speaker 1: zero eggs. So we should just move on now.
- 57:24Speaker 2: Austin love bombed her by sending her jewelry, money, gift cards,
- 57:33Speaker 2: and snacks. He used Uber eats indoor dash to send
- 57:38Speaker 2: her food. She of course thought this was cool because guys,
- 57:50Speaker 2: think back to when you were a teenager. Would it
- 57:52Speaker 2: have not been so cool to be dating a boy
- 57:55Speaker 2: that you think is two years older or chatting with
- 57:57Speaker 2: him and just door dash. You mentioned you want taco
- 57:59Speaker 2: Bella and it just shows up at your house.
- 58:01Speaker 1: Yeah, if my child ever door dashed at the age.
- 58:06Speaker 1: Let me tell you I ran Uber eats for a
- 58:08Speaker 1: while and I delivered food to some places where it
- 58:11Speaker 1: was kids who were ordering at an odd time of
- 58:13Speaker 1: the day and night. And when I would deliver. I
- 58:16Speaker 1: would literally just hand and turn around and walk away
- 58:20Speaker 1: because there is I'm sorry, it is not safe to
- 58:23Speaker 1: do that, so don't do that.
- 58:26Speaker 2: As we didn't just leave it on the place whenever
- 58:29Speaker 2: I ordered. They even when I'm at a hotel, I
- 58:31Speaker 2: haven't left at the door.
- 58:34Speaker 1: It wasn't an option at that point. It was pre
- 58:35Speaker 1: twenty twenty. There wasn't like a delvid. Yeah, okay, and
- 58:39Speaker 1: they don't get that instruction. Those kids aren't thinking about that.
- 58:42Speaker 1: So yeah, it was literally they were like opening the door.
- 58:47Speaker 2: Was the door dash driver driver.
- 58:51Speaker 3: That doesn't check out?
- 58:52Speaker 2: I'm just saying, And I think Amiss has a good question.
- 58:56Speaker 2: When did you do this suber eats thing we need
- 59:00Speaker 2: to do.
- 59:02Speaker 1: Nineteen seconds.
- 59:06Speaker 3: Like at the beginning of the Uber door dash thing.
- 59:11Speaker 1: It was, Yeah, it was while I was a technical
- 59:13Speaker 1: writer for another group.
- 59:16Speaker 2: Well, if anybody wants to go too bell in door
- 59:20Speaker 2: dash it or a bottle of wine steel free.
- 59:23Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not going to turn it down, but
- 59:24Speaker 3: don't give them your address, Darry Oh no, I'll give
- 59:27Speaker 3: them my peel box. I think this is a big
- 59:29Speaker 3: mistake here.
- 59:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll give the game.
- 59:32Speaker 3: Not blaming this girl, Okay, no, go ahead.
- 59:34Speaker 2: Now as adults know, anyone that does that, it's not good.
- 59:41Speaker 2: Do you say you leave it on the porch. But
- 59:44Speaker 2: it's a weird experience. It could be anyone.
- 59:46Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were so ene.
- 59:48Speaker 2: My apologies. Hey, I'm learning to read comments. I am
- 59:53Speaker 2: improving my skill set. You to now, awesome is like
- 59:57Speaker 2: every man. Okay, let me rephrase this. Austin was like
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: men like this. He got very needy. I shouldn't say
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: all men are needy, but he got very needy, of course,
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: and guess what he started doing. He started demanding that
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: best send him new photos. Oh shocker, what made Yeah?
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: Now, stop asking girls, women, anybody to send you nutes.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: It's icky.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: Nobody likes it. I don't know who told you we like,
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: We don't like it.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: Stop it just I don't even want double H to
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: send that to me. Guys, and I love him, and
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: I've seen it before and I don't want it.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: I've been with years ago.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: I don't want it.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: I don't want to like and I'm like, no, that's
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: not happening.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a weird transition, but he wants door dash.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: No, I want that's fine, spatt, I do too. I
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: am so hungry. They saw what I had for dinner.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: I had yogurt, so.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: I leftover Japanese have bought you that I'm about to
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: eat after the show's over.
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: And so well, Austin, because you know I got this
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: new job, he purchased a home sight unseen in Virginia. Guys,
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: he proceeds to black out all the windows with window
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: limousine tint and blacked out curtains. Yikes. The only thing
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: that would be worse is if there was a basement,
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: but there's not.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: M h.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: I looked. So Beth listened to her gut, and after
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: Halloween in twenty twenty two, she broke up with him.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: She blocked him on Instagram and discord and I want
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: to say, if she's watching or ever sees this, that
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: was a smart move, girl, Okay, that was a smart move.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: Do however, wish you would have told an adult not
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: shaming you, because I wouldn't have a or age either.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: But now I'm old. So Austin then took some time
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: off from his new job and starting on Wednesday, November
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: twenty third, twenty twenty two. And guys, this was around
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: Thanksgiving guess what Austin decided to do. He decided to
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: take a two day road trip from his home in
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: Virginia to Riverside, California. That's a hell of a long drive.
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: How is that? Like, that's over twenty five hundred miles.
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: Sure, that's a long way. Okay, that's a long way now.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Like I said, this was over the Thanksgiving holiday and
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: she celebrated with her family for Thanksgiving. Then on Friday morning,
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: Beth went with her mom, Brooke, and her sister. They
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: went for a Starbucks run. I mean, who doesn't, right,
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: I'm all about that. Yeah. Now, Sharon best grandma called Brook,
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: which is best mom, and told her that a detective
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: had come by the house and needed to talk to
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: her about best sending inappropriate pictures to someone. M okay,
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: so and Brooke, she's a much more level headed mom
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: than me because she didn't want to freak anyone out.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: So she told both of her daughters, Hey, Grandma just called.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: We got to do something with the phones. I need
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: you to give me your phones. I need you to
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: give me that little watch that communicates for you, and
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: I need to get Grandma's card to get all this fixed.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: So she didn't do like me and just go from
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: zero to a thousand. What the hell I mean? I
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: would have just flipped out. But so then Brooke took
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: Best's younger sister and dropped her off at her sister's house,
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: which would be her aunt, because she didn't want her
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: other daughter to overhear what the detectives had to say. See,
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: she was much more clear thinking than me. I'm going
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: to just go out there and say it now. Brooke
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: and Beth then drove to their house where the grandparents were,
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: and the detective was there, so Brooke had Beth stay
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: in the car, okay, because Beth thought they were going
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: to the house so their mom could get her grandmother's
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: card to take to the phone store to get the
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: phones fixed. Because you know, Broke even wanted to find
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: out what was going on before she brought her daughter
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: into it, which, like I said, she was a way
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: level more level headed than me. But Beth stayed in
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: the car while her mom ran in guys. But after
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: a while, Beth was like, what the is going on?
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: What is taken this lady so long? I'm tired of
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: sitting here, And she went in the house to see
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: what was taken so long. And when Beth walked into
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: the house, a man grabbed her and pulled her by
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: her hair all the way into the house and guys.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: Beth at first did not recognize this man, and as
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: she was pulled farther into the house, she saw her mom,
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: her grandfather, and her grandmother laying face down on the
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: floor with their hands bound with duct tape and bags
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: over their heads. That I just think about that at fifteen,
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Just think about that. But so Beth freaked out and
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: the man who was that man was wearing a police
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: bag on his belt, pointed to a semi automatic hand
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: gun at her, which she pulled off. He told her
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: to stop screaming and guys, And at that point Beth
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: recognized his voice because remember the teenager had just broken
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: up with him last month. This is Austin Lee Edwards,
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: the guy.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: I hate this guy so much.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: And he used his police stuff to tell the grandmother
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: she's been doing this. Remember she said she never did it.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: He didn't have any photos, but he wanted to hear.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: What were the grandparents to think? I would have thought
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: the same thing. I mean, he's in a police uniform,
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: he's got a badge.
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: Legit, legit too, not even like bought it at a
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: costume store or some shit like that.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: They literally, if you're not looking for the badges that
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: say Virginia State Police, you don't think to look for that.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: Why would you? It's a policeman in your area. Yeah.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: Uh oh god, I hate this guy so much. Wells
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: it gets worse, Okay, of course it is so. Austin
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: then pulled her with him around the house as he
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: poured gasoline throughout the house and he lit the house
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: on fire. Cool and he then took Beth out to
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: his car and he forced her into the back seat
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: and they took off driving, and Austin told Beth that
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: she needed to say she was his daughter if anyone
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: stops him or ask any questions, and that they are
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: going to Virginia to live together since she no longer
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: had any living family in California and.
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: Creepy as blacked out window house.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: I mean, guys, what the fuck? You kill her grandparents
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: and her mom and you tell her she's coming to
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: live with you because she has no family anymore.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: Like I said that sentence that he said earlier to
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: the other girl, it's hot.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: I mean, Beth had to be scared to death. She
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: just had to be scared to death. Now, Austin had
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: his gun plus an knife that he and it had
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: blood on it because he had used it to slit
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: her family's throats. So a neighbor saw the house on
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: fire and called nine one one, and of course, as
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: they entered the home, the bodies of Brooks, Sharon, and
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: Mark were discovered. Now, the police started talking to the
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: neighbors immediately and found video that showed Austin's vehicle, which
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: they used to get his name and his mobile number. Okay,
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: police pinged Austin's phone and the chase started. Okay. Austin
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: had told Beth that if they were captured, he would
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: kill himself. He also then told her that he was
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: a real police officer and that they needed to do
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: a better job at background checks. True myths that he
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: should not be an officer, guys. Then his car got
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: stuck on some large rocks during the chase, and he
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: begged it. He got stuck and he told Beth to
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: get out of the car, which she did. Austin proceeded
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: to shoot himself like he had told her. Well, police
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: not knowing if Beth was involved or what was going on.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: They proceeded to cuff her and arrest her on the scene.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: Oh my goodness, wine, I got to skip the water
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: and go to the wine. Question.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: Why do you all think he became a cop?
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: You'd only been a cop at this point for eleven
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: months or elio, I guess he you know, whatever you
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: want to call it.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: He wanted the power, the prestige. People will be scared
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: of you, They're less likely to tell on you.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: There are there's some very interesting parallels between the first
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: girl we've heard and his reaction, the self harm.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: The this.
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: Beth goes to cut it off with him.
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: Halloween.
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: Here he is a Thanksgiving killing her whole family. The
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: other girl cut it off, and on Super Bowl he's
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: trying to I.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: Mean, you know, if he would have been a cop
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: when the girl were calling Lisa broke up with him,
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: he probably would have filled her address. Because date police,
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: you can get into databases and information. That's true.
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: Oh I guess I didn't think about like the stock
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: this guy, I.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: Can get in and get your address because I can
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: get into some of those databases you know that I
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: have access to for PI stuff. So cops have much
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: more access. That's all fair points there. That's why Lisa later,
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: you know, told the guys on that podcast that she
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: thinks she was lucky to be alive. And then he
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: wasn't a cop at that time.
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: I agree anyone who has come into contact with this
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: guy online is honestly look at what he was willing to.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: And now I want JT to tell me how in
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: the hell this shit was possible.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: Yeah, welcome to Virginia. No, yeah, how do you get hired?
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: That's a million dollar question, right, So, Virginia State Police
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: had background check failures and it was flawed at multiple levels.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: The VSP Virginia State Police, they're hiring process. It involves
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: like an internal background investigation, fingerprinting, a review of records
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: through various databases, also includes a a live detector test,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: and that's about it. Austin's twenty sixteen psychiatric hospitalization, which
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: we talked about in the beginning, and it involved in
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: being detained under emergency custody order and subject to a
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: temporary detention order, was serious enough to obviously prevent him
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: from legally purchasing or carrying a firearm. Yet, as we know,
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: this history was missed during the hiring process. I suppose
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: he didn't technically buy the firearm, he only carried it.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: So one for two.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: I mean it did say to be in possession, I
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: have a firearm.
- 1:12:36Speaker 5: Okay, semantics and the law just saying I'm just saying no,
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: I know, I know they said to purchase possess or whatever,
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: So just saying yeah.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: So the failure could be traced back in part to
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: an incorrect database entry as well. The vsp'd attempted to
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: check Edward's history through state and federal databases, but the
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: National Instant Criminal Background Check System and NICs failed to
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: show the disqualifying mental health record because of clerical errors
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: made at the local level. Because of this, he wasn't flagged.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: Let me tell you, I had to go find out
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: what the clerical error was, because that's me. When you
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: do those kind of searches. There's letters that you have
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: to put in for classification. So you have to put
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: in if they're a regular applicant. You use this code
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: for if they're not going to carry a gun, if
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: they're going to be like a dispatch person or like
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: what they did for me for the county here. But
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: because he needed to be able to have a firearm.
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: They were supposed to put the letter F and they
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: had put I think it was a letter J. It
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: was that that prevented them one letter.
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: I feel like it all being specifically that is a problem.
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: It was a letter, guys, one letter eh. I don't
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: like that tell us because I had to go look
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: it up because I was like, how did this happen?
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: One letter? It shouldn't be that easy. There should be
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: checks and balances. Tell us more things that are going
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: to piss us off. JT.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: Well, there's a lack of psychological screening. There were questions
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: about that, about the depth of the psychological evaluations used
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: by VSP, which they don't really. Basic mental health screenings
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: are kind of required, but they're not nearly comprehensive enough
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: at all to uncover long term issues their surface level.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: At best, they have no follow up, there's no red flags,
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: and it relies way too heavy on self disclosure. Agreed wholeheartedly,
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: so Kareem Geller, who is the spokesperson or for VSP.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: She stated that at no time during the background check
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: done on Edwards was there any indicators of concern, and
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: she also indicated that Edwards did not disclose incidents that
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: would have disqualified him, well, obviously not. However, Jeff Pike,
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: who's a private investigator that worked in law enforcement and
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: had sources in the Virginia State Police, provided polygraph results
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: where the examiner wrote quote the applicants stated in the
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: pretest interview that he had voluntarily checked into a mental
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: health facility in twenty sixteen. I don't know, might want
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: to look into it.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: Yeah, red flag, red flag, red flag. Make sure it
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: was a voluntary documents.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: Yeah, the voluntary order.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: Right, it was voluntary. But also the court was kind
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: of involved, right is that what we said early?
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: Okay?
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: Yes, okay, okay.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: So we don't know the validity of the document was
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: checked by at least two different news or agencies, one
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: being the LA Times, and they all determined that it
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: was a very valid document from the person within VSP
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: whoever that was that gave it to him. So we
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: don't know if they investigated this further. I mean, what
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: we do know is that Pike said he didn't know
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: of any officer knew hire, anybody that had the type
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: of incident that would be that had that type of incident.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: They wouldn't be hired unless they had some type of pool.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Austin doesn't strike me as somebody who has any kind
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: of pool with literally anything, but whatever is Yeah, it
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: doesn't matter. So I don't know exactly, you know, how
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: this hap well, I know happened anyway. So if you
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: go further, right, because he not only was with Virginia
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: State Police and Henriko, but then he was with Washington County.
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: So Washington County said that they conducted a full background check.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: What the sheriff later admitted that they relied heavily on
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: the Virginia State Police's clearance. He was basically hired at
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: Washington County fully within nine days of his application, and
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: that's far faster than average.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: And that's because he was still employed with the state.
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: If he's still employed with the state, he must be okay.
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: I mean, that's it's not an assumption you should make.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: But I do see how like so many of them
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: be like, well, they already did all this stuff, you know.
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: I guess it's like being like thebi.
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: You know, it's a county versus the state right in
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: the state, where the county would assume the state has
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: a much thorough.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: Exactly, I mean that's like if you were going to
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: work to the state and you'd worked for the FBI before, good,
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: I'm not gott me.
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: Check me, like yeah, they like solid, Like okay.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Working part time at Sonic has a bigger process like
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: so yeah, they did treat it like a transfer.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: You're right.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: Do the murders. The Virginia State Police launched what they
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: called an internal administrative review, which is you should read
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: as cya of how Edwards was hired, but the investigation
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: was conducted in house with no external oversight, and officials
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: emphasized that policies would be reviewed, but then they provided
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: little detail or commitment to reform. And this also resulted
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: in no formal report, which is why we couldn't find it.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: At least, if you found it, you didn't.
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: Help convenience conveyance.
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: They didn't.
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: Yeah. No, So there were demands from the public. The
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: media demanded it, and also I'm gonna keep politics out
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: of this. But Governor Glenn Youngkin said quote, once the
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: investigation is complete, there will be full transparency.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: Huh.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: Anyway, they didn't release that formal report. Instead, they issued
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: a brief press uh brief, a brief press statement. Acknowledging
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: the oversight and promising future improvements. Skepticism and outrage abounds
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: from me alone and everybody else.
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: Oh no, oh, no, it's I'm uh uh nope, I'm
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: I'm sorry. They need to look up what the word
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: transparency means, because obviously they do not own a dictionary.
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: Oh like the report. Why can't we see the report?
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: So transparent? It's been how many years? Two years?
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: I could put it in a request.
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: No, I don't, we're find it. I don't think. I
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: don't think they've released it at all. Yeah, they did
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: not matter at all us not finding it.
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: I guess what I'm saying.
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: It's the governor's ship. But thank you, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: I'll say it.
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: I'm the producer. I'll say what I want.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: You live in Ohio. I mean, I know, here's the deal. Yes,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: yes he is. I mean he listened. He's a trash dude.
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: Mm hmm.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: Anyways, So, in a move that can only be defined
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: as escapegoating, the department pinned the failure on a single
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: background investigator who reportedly missed the hospitalization record due to
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: human error. We now know that's a lie. Well, the
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: human error not, but he was told, this is.
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: This person working for the Virginia State Police or for
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: the county Virginia States place for the Virginia State Police. Okay, okay,
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: so one guy person.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: I don't know if we.
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: Okay, so person, one person at Virginia State Police.
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: Anyways, they were quietly removed from background check responsibilities. They also,
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: you know, there was systemic failures, not individual negligence. Right,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: this is a big issue and that was at play.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: There were policy gaps, poor interagency communication, inadequate training, all
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: of it, and the public and the press backlashed over
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: the lack of transparency. Honestly, I don't remember this, probably
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: because I was so tired of news at that point
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: I just didn't want to deal with it. But the
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: response from them was swift. Journalists, watchdog groups, victims rights
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: advocates condemned the internal review. Many asked for a fully
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: independent investigation, and after it was revealed how easily Edwards
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: obtained weapons and a badge despite the serious mental health
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: red flags, the public obviously outraged. They if that wasn't
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: really kind of fucked enough. The press was denied access
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: to Edward's full personnel file and that included, in particular,
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: a twenty four to twenty seven page section that included
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: round interview, summaries and internal memos.
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: That's fineparency, look at it.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well, they cited personnel privacy protections. Critics argued
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: that public safety kind of outweighs that, and he was dead.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: The withheld page mostly yeah, yeah. The withheld pages most
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: likely contained viral vital context on how Edwards was vetted,
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: what was missed, and whether there was any internal concerns
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: that went ignored. It's just a flippin' mess.
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: And this is what really pisses me off, right, is
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: that sometimes when things like this happen in the agencies,
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: this is them not taking real accountability for what.
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: You're not doing your own oath. They're not exactly we
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: will take accountability.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: You're just.
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I did not follow their oath that they took.
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: That's why I said that. It's right at the top they.
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: And I'm so glad that you did their oath at
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: the beginning and thing, But like, yeah, why can't just
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: be like, listen, we did wrong, We're going to do bad,
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: like admit it, instead of being like, oh, it was
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: just this one person blah, blah blah, because did they
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: then go did they then go and check every single
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: person who has been hired.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: To make sure. I'm going to tell you a little
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: bit about that because I found it right before we
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: went on.
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: I thought I would get off my rant then, but
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: I from somebody.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: Okay, So now let me just be up front in state,
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: I do think Virginia is for lovers, but they had
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: the weakest Freedom of Information Act policy compared to some
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: other states.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: Really, Okay, if you love hating, sure lovers it is.
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: I mean, they do have a boob out on their seals,
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: so yeah, they are fine.
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: They are all on the flag.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: Records are to be kept private, all personal records. It
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: is not just law enforcement, even.
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: When you're a public servant. How okay, Okay, continue on
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: tell us smater.
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: Oh and an applicant self disclosure of power mental health
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: issues is not an automatic decline. Okay. I even checked
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: in Texas it's not either. But there should be additional
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: layers and a deeper dive into the mental health issues
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: they did not.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: You wonder why I always say scividy Ohio. It's because
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: really it's skibbity Virginia, and I'm just trying to stract people. Also,
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: I know skibvity and yeah bad.
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: Don't get me wrong, Ohio, I'm honest. Every state does, yes. Okay, Now,
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: the hiring department did not do proper references of his
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: previous employment or neighbors and personal references. Now, after I
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: read all what they didn't do, I'm going to redo
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: the list of what the rules were then that they
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: were supposed to do. Okay, okay, Also make a rant.
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: The portion of Austin's application wasn't even filled in. Shut up.
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: He left it blank. The portion that asked if he
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: ever had a weapons permit or if he had had
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: one revoked or was unable to get one blank, just
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: didn't answer it. He also left blank the question where
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: he was asked if he had ever been convicted of
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: a crime or questioned by law enforcement. Left it blank.
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: Shut get this Also left blank was this question to
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: whether he had ever acted out in violence to another
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: person physically or verbally, or had a restraining order, protective order,
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: or contact order. Loved to play. Just decided I didn't
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: want to fill it. He didn't lie, didn't lie. But
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: I mean, guys, these are part of the police.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: Yeah, this is one huge.
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: Okay, guys, get ready because buckle up because I'm going
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: to just tell y'all. Even back when we understaff in
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: company and I staffed people at Blockbuster, it used to
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: be this business and you'd go rent videos and watch
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: videos and games. It was a thing. That's if the
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: applicant because they had to do manual applications. If they
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: did not answer portions of the application, we gave it
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: back to them one time. Here's what you miss You
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: need to fill it out. If they gave it back
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: to us again and still hadn't filled it out, I'm sorry, sir.
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: You're an able ma'am. You're unable to complete your application? Bye?
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: What are you looking for? Like then to at least
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: just say no like that that confirmation? Right?
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: Is that what you're lying? Because then they lie if
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: they don't fill it out, they oh I didn't see it.
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: I didn't understand it. They give you all of that.
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: So we're talking about a person. We're giving a gun
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: to a gun people, wow, and we're giving them authority
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: to make decisions that are life or death decisions. Okay.
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: So I got my hands on the Department of State Police.
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: The letter that they put out on December thirtieth, twenty
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: twenty two. Okay about I'm not going to read you
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: all of it, but they tell you what their policy
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: was at that time, and I'm going to just go
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: through the things that they missed. All past employers in
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: reason for leaving employment, you must speak to managers or
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: human resource officers are to be interviewed. Guys. They did
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: not talk to Virginia State Police and get a reference.
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: They only checked his lows when he worked at Lowe's
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: Home Improvement. But how is that relevant? Uh huh? Okay? Okay.
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: Then also review of applicants social media. Okay, how was
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: he sending links to look at snuff films on chat
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: and messages? And if you didn't go and look for
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: racial or homophobic slur? You know slurs whether they.
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: Have been able to look in your private messages or
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: just what you post, what you post everyone to.
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: See most people, if you go through it enough, I can.
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: Tell you if you're selling racist dms, you are probably
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: putting them for us of everybody to see.
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: But I was just wondering. They also say that you
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: so then they go through depending on people who are
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: going to have to take an oath okay, since he
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: was going to carry a gun. They also needed to
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: investigation shall be conducted in each community the applicant has lived, worked,
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: or attended schools. You need to talk to their neighbors. Wow,
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: they didn't. They did not. Also, falsification of an application
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: with an intent to can see or mislead documented untruthfulness
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: during an applicant process, they are to be automatically disqualified
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: and should not move forward. Should never have even made
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: it to the academy with an application not completed.
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: I didn't even think. I know, we mentioned him going
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: to an academy earlier in graduating. I didn't even think, right,
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: I didn't even think about that process, the VSP process,
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: this county process. I didn't even factor in the school thing,
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: to be honest with you, Gee, so three three levels
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: and not a single person.
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: So I said, I had so because if they would
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: have talked to the neighbors and stuff, they would have
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: found out more details about the twenty sixteen incident. They
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: were supposed to talk to his father because he lived
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: with him. They never did. Wow. So they failed. Okay
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: in Washington County failed because they just assumed VSP did everything.
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: Well and the academy failed.
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: Well, but that's the state because you can't go to
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: the academy unless you're qualified to become an officer, because
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: they don't want to waste tax resources.
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: And trust they're one and the same.
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: They're one in the same. Okay, I did not know
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: that one in the same. So they all failed. Okay,
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: they failed, and I will say it goes on to
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: say what they are doing different. They go on to
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: say that they audited all officers that had been hired
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: within a certain timeframe. It was several years. They only
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: found this one employee who had not been trained properly
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: on the F code, the J code or whatever is
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: what it says in this letter. This is the letter
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: they released saying and we're going to do this better.
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: They made everybody go through new training. They basically put
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: a band aid and they threw that woman under the bus.
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: They didn't do any of that, by the way, Well
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: that can guarantee it.
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's smoking mirrors.
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: Honestly, Like, let's be I do too, but I just
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: had to. When I got a hold of it, I
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: was like, mm hmmm, that is what you call a
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: spin They got a spin doctor.
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: I very much feel that way about. I'm not saying
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: the number it needs to be big or anything like that.
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: What you're telling one in all of the state of
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: Virginia get out of here. Get out of here with
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: that yes, training or transparency mind you asked from that governor.
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: You're gonna tell me only one person in the cops
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: like who they hired within that timeframe didn't have a
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: domestic violence charge?
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: Well, and what was the time frame? How long you're
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: going to go?
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: Ye?
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: This person had only been doing those checks for about
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: three months and they only had one class go through.
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: So you've got to stop and think how many people
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: go through the academy. I remember the list. You saw
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: the list too. She only did a couple of people,
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: and they got lucky that the other one she ran
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: didn't have a problem because she didn't run it right,
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: she did not put the f in. She got lucky
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: that only one slipped through. I'm a little Did they
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: only car is very loud?
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: Did you guys hear that?
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: Did I just.
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: Was getting better?
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: No? Did they only check her applications? No?
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: They said they checked. I want to say they said
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: within a three year period, which I would have said,
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: go back ten years. But that's just me.
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: Because I'm assuming if once you're cleared, you don't have
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: to redo it again.
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: Right, So now there is some potential light at the
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: end of the tunnel, which I hope is going to
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: get Virginia to do a better job. And I'm going
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: to just really hold out hope and I'm going to
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: play the angel advocate that they learned from this and
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: that they're going to do something different. JT is shaking
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: his head, so I don't know, but.
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: He's from there, so it's fair.
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: It's fair. It's fair. I mean, I will say in
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: Texas Abbott is a pos but he does really care
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: about our law enforcement. Of course it does, so he's
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: got to care for certain people for certain people. But
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: the aunt of the abducted team and the guardian of
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: our younger sister filed a loss in twenty twenty three
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: against the Sheriff's office for Neggel. I came and talking
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: now nightlish in diligent, thank you, acquiring shit, and I
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: haven't even drunk a whole glass of wine. I'm seeking
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: over one hundred million dollars in damages. This was filed
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: in the US District Court of Central California.
- 1:35:27Speaker 3: Wow, that one hundred million dollars.
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: Now, guess what. Then in February of twenty twenty four,
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: another suit was filed by the estate of the deceased
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: family members against Washington County Sheriff's Office Officer Blake ANDUS
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: Detective WILLIAMS. Smart because they were in charge of the
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: Czechs and stuff, and against the estate of Austin Lee Edwards.
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: And they filed in the US District Court of Virginia.
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: So their suit was for damages, loss of expected income,
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: mental health, funeral costs, impunitive damages. That lawsuit is for
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: fifty million dollars because both the daughters are still alive,
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: and they filed in California because they resigned there right right,
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: But the deceased family members they filed on their behalf.
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: Now neither one of these could I find trial dates.
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: I even looked and Pacer and I couldn't file the
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: find the trial dates. Because what's going to be interesting
- 1:36:48Speaker 2: is there going to be in the two different US
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: district courts. I think it's going to be interesting to
- 1:36:54Speaker 2: see what happens because if that was to happen in
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: Texas District Court in California, we have a cap on
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: how much punitive damages can be and that counts from
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: the same incident. So I don't know if Virginia has that.
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: California does it, so I'm curious as to why they
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: filed in different places. I don't think Virginia does.
- 1:37:22Speaker 3: In Virginia is a cap because Debbi heard it was
- 1:37:26Speaker 3: like a couple million dollars. Oh no, now that I remember, right,
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: there's something weird. But only one of them's cap the
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: other one's not.
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: But if it's how that goes three hundred and fifty
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: thousand for each family member. Okay, still don't get to
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: fifty million. So it's going to be interesting to see
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: what happens. I mean because a lot of times you
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: throw out those really high numbers knowing you're going to
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: settle mm hmm.
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: But no, but they also went after the county, the state,
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: and those two detectives. They went after them personally and
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: the department.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: Got it.
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: So I mean, you're just telling me that Virginia sipolice.
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: There is no one else, not a single other person.
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: That's what they say here.
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: Okay, crazy listen, if they sue the county, they're not
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: going to have enough money for their subscription to Facebook,
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: which is where they do all their background checks, so.
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: Well, they're actually giving it free.
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: So listen. There are very I don't understand, like, there
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: are very few police agencies that are advanced enough to
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: do all of their background stuff on bumble.
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: Yeah agreed, Oh my goodness. So yeah, what do you
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: think Terris and she didn't know? That's a lot.
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: There's so much going on with this. There's so many problems.
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: You know, would he have done this if he was
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: still a cop, Like, if he wasn't, if he never
- 1:39:06Speaker 3: got the job as a.
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: Cop, you would have still done something.
- 1:39:10Speaker 3: Honestly, I do feel like this guy would have done something,
- 1:39:13Speaker 3: but this made it even more. Like this had to
- 1:39:18Speaker 3: have empowered this guy to feel untouchable to be able
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: to do all of that. Do I think this guy
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: would have done something else and had more victims? Yeah?
- 1:39:27Speaker 3: I think this guy still does have victims.
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: I think there's more.
- 1:39:30Speaker 3: There has to be more. There has to be more
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: people that he did this too on the internet. This
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: guy's disgusting.
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: Well, and the thing I didn't tell you, and let
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: me tell you how the girl we called Lisa found out. Sure, yeah,
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: she was scrolling on her phone and saw that this
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: family had been killed and the information, and then she
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: saw his picture and she realized that kind of guy
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: I was talking to.
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: You know, I feel awful for who we call Beth
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: and her sister Beth. None of this should have happened
- 1:40:10Speaker 3: to you, right, it shouldn't have. You are not to blame.
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: I hope to God you are not blaming yourself for
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: what happened to you, because you know, here's the thing. Literally,
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: none of us would have thought that, if we were
- 1:40:23Speaker 3: in your shoes, that somebody's gonna drive twenty over two
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: thousand miles to come and kill your whole family mis persky,
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: just to have you like I do not, I don't.
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: You're fifteen? How do you even think that?
- 1:40:37Speaker 3: And she was smart, Yeah, she was smart enough to
- 1:40:41Speaker 3: cut it off. She was, you know, and I give
- 1:40:44Speaker 3: her props for that, I think the biggest mistake of all.
- 1:40:47Speaker 3: And again, I am not victim blaming at all. It
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: must be hard was It sounds like she didn't tell
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: anyone about this online relationship she was having. And I
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: understand that she thinks that she was talking to right,
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: Beth and the other one knew.
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: He was bid with the first one, so she saw
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: his stuff, so he she knew he was older. That's
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: the lesson was to do voice calls only.
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: But this guy apparently was vienna creep towards her, giving
- 1:41:23Speaker 3: off red flags enough to end it that, you know,
- 1:41:25Speaker 3: maybe saying something to her mom. I think the lesson
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: in this is that there needs to be better communication
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: between If there's anything to learn, there's anything to learn
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: from this, it is to have a better communication with
- 1:41:41Speaker 3: apparent child. You're online safety right, letting somebody.
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: Order door dash for you? Yeah?
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: Not great, not great. And again not blaming this. She
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: is a little girl, she's fifteen years old. She don't
- 1:41:56Speaker 3: know no better. People don't mistake all the time. When
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: did COVID happen twenty twenty?
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: Okay, so she was getting door dash left on the
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: porch because it was twenty twenty one when she was
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: getting door dashed. But still don't do it.
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: But I think that you know a lot of kids
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: we see in all different sorts of cases where they're
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: things are going on online and they don't tell their
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: parents about it because they're afraid they're going to get
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: in trouble or shame or or they're going.
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: To get their access taken away, they're going to take
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: their phone away, they're going to let you get on
- 1:42:27Speaker 2: social media anymore.
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: But I just I don't think they quite comprehend the
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: predators that are out there because they're everywhere. I mean,
- 1:42:37Speaker 3: we're grown ass women and there we are.
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: Yeah we are. But you know what I mean, like,
- 1:42:46Speaker 2: wait a minute, are you identifying as a woman right now?
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: I mean, it's coffee talk, It's fine.
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: Yes, listen, did you think me if my kid came
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: to me and said, hey, I was talking to this
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: person online they were getting crazy?
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: Even if he was.
- 1:43:06Speaker 3: Like, hey I I they told me so many pictures
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: and I did, I wouldn't be mad at him.
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: I would be.
- 1:43:16Speaker 3: I would be embarrassed for him to a degree that
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: he'd have to tell me that, you know, But I
- 1:43:24Speaker 3: wouldn't hold him. He doesn't know no better, you know,
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: and saying I know. Both both these girls said they
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: didn't and that's really awesome. But you know, a lot
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: of parents, a lot of kids don't want to tell
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: their parents about the things they've been talking about.
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: And what do you think, JT?
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: I think, so.
- 1:43:47Speaker 2: What in terms of about your thoughts on this case today.
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: Yeah, you're closing thoughts. What are your closing thoughts? Chat?
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: Because I was just rambling a rambling lama.
- 1:43:58Speaker 2: It's so sad.
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: I can think of no better a word to describe
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: a lama. That's your rap name. So there are stories
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: that stick with you. This one kind of like punches
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: you right in the face and then it steals your
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: lunch money and then it begs you not to go
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: to HR about it. That was very specific. It's not true.
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: I didn't do it. First off. What a creepy, unhinged, unremorseful,
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: abusive prick and unapologetic pedophile. And now that I've got
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: that off my chest, Austin Edwards should have been stopped
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: either by a database, a background check, a psychological screening,
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: or I don't know a single adult who has to
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: follow up question. But he wasn't. Because of that, three
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: people are dead, young girl's life forever altered, and we're
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: left here asking how someone with the documented psychiatric old
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: and threats of violence still ended up in a uniform.
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: And I do I want to be clear mental health crises,
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: mental health issues don't equal criminality. Like I have stuff,
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: I have stuff, I tell shit jokes that should be
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: a crime, but not a criminal me Untreated violence paired
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: with unchecked authority is a recipe for disaster. And what
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: the story shows us, besides the fact that the Freedom
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: of Information Act in Virginia is about as transparent as
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: a brick wall, is that law enforcement hiring processes need
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: to be better, need to be better across the board.
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: They need to be smarter, they need to be more honest,
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: they're less Do you feel stable today? And more? Have
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: you ever tried to bite your father during a Super
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: Bowl party? Because this story is tragic, I mean it is,
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: and it's also infuriated, and somewhere in the middle of
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: anger and heartbreak, we have a chance to demand better
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: for you know, both for Brooks, Sharon Mark, and for
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: everyone and every community that deserves to know the person
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: behind the badge, and they should They should understand that
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: they're there to protect them. They shouldn't have to wonder
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: if they're there to deceive, stock and destroy, so, you know,
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: stay safe. Unfortunately, we've got to stay skeptical. And if
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: you're ever applying to be a cop and you feel
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: the urge to lie about your age to a teenager online,
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: which is very specific. Uh, just try actually fishing for
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: catfish instead. Just go catfishing with Terry.
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: She knows how these their bottom feeders, all these problem people.
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: Thank you great, Now you're welcome. This case is more
- 1:47:11Speaker 2: than a tragedy. I mean it, I think is a
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: gut punch and it should be a reality check to everyone.
- 1:47:21Speaker 2: How dangerously deep in the cracks run through this system
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: that's supposed to keep us safe. I mean, we are
- 1:47:33Speaker 2: hiring people to protect the community. They need the deepest
- 1:47:40Speaker 2: of dies mental health, previous issues should not stop them, Okay,
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: but it does require you to look into something more
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: because when someone with a badge is also a predator, guys,
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: it shakes the very foundation of trust that we have
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: a law enforcement not a one time predator, not a
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: one time I mean it's and I as someone you know,
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: you know, we share stories week after week. I wish
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: this one kind of felt like an outlier, Okay, but
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: it doesn't, because we have to ask the hard questions
- 1:48:28Speaker 2: about slipping through the system. Why weren't red flags called sooner?
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: But the biggest thing is why do we own it
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: and make sure it never fucking happens again? Anywhere? Every
- 1:48:46Speaker 2: state every county should hear about this case. Every single
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: one of them should hear about this and think about
- 1:48:56Speaker 2: it every time. I mean, it made me stop and think.
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: You know, I'm in the middle of hiring someone that
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: I went back and double checked the people I was
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: interviewing and made double checked again to make sure they
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: completed everything. That's how much it freaked me out.
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure some of my volunteers get a bigger
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: background check than he had.
- 1:49:21Speaker 2: Yeah to say it, I mean, to be with the
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: Community Emergency Response Team, I had to go through a
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: full county check just like every other employee. I didn't
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: have to do the one with the gun, but they
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: still had to check to see if I was eligible
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: to have one. Luckily I have a licensed carrying down
- 1:49:40Speaker 2: but exactly, But guys, we owe it to the victims,
- 1:49:45Speaker 2: we owe it to the families, and this was preventable.
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: This was preventable. Do I think he would have done
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: something else? Yes, But I think we need to demand accountability,
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: better screening, and transparency from all the institutions we rely on.
- 1:50:07Speaker 2: And JT. You live there, I'm going to put it
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: on you. The real change. It starts with us. I
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: think every chance you get, don't run out and do it.
- 1:50:20Speaker 2: People need to know about this story in Virginia and
- 1:50:24Speaker 2: they need to demand that it be better. And I'm sorry,
- 1:50:28Speaker 2: they need to continue demanding to be investigated and release
- 1:50:34Speaker 2: what they found because that letter they put out it's nothing. No,
- 1:50:41Speaker 2: it's nothing. And if I was that family, I would
- 1:50:45Speaker 2: have felt like I was slept in the face. I agree,
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: and that's all I gotta say.
- 1:50:55Speaker 3: I'll add one little note I did when I was
- 1:50:59Speaker 3: looking at visuals. Yes, today, I'm not gonna put it
- 1:51:01Speaker 3: up because fuck this guy. Sorry, but I think we're
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: all at the same place right now that it's fine
- 1:51:06Speaker 3: to say that, like this guy is garbage. Okay, but
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: in my research and I'm not gonna put it up
- 1:51:12Speaker 3: because it probably isn't the right thing to do. But
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: I did find his gravestone, okay, and.
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: It pissed me off.
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: Okay, it made me so angry.
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: And it may meet any sledgehammer to it.
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: But then I also stop and think of his parents
- 1:51:36Speaker 2: for all we know, like if my son was to
- 1:51:40Speaker 2: do something like that, I personally would not put a
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: headstone like that.
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: Oh exactly, yeah, I would not have the headstones are
- 1:51:48Speaker 3: gragious it is.
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: I would not have, but I also don't want to
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: tell someone else they may feel guilty a mass murderer.
- 1:52:01Speaker 3: My son is a mass murderer, Okay, and your headstone
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: is ridiculous and it's insulting. I'll say it.
- 1:52:08Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: I agree larger than most people can afford for their moms.
- 1:52:13Speaker 3: Like, don't get me wrong, Like you know, a lot
- 1:52:15Speaker 3: of people don't think that the other families on the
- 1:52:17Speaker 3: other side like they do.
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel very bad for his family. I don't
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: have to that. It was disrespectful for them, in my opinion,
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: to put the headstone that they put.
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I was so pissed when I saw that. I
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: was like, I know where it is, and I want
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: to take a slushamer tohop. Don't anybody do that. That's
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: not appropriate. Don't do That's why I'm not showing that.
- 1:52:36Speaker 2: It is violence and it is want to not okay
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: the position you don't want to have to answer.
- 1:52:42Speaker 3: Yes, it's not okay, But I will say I did
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: see the grape zone and I was not about it because, yeah,
- 1:52:51Speaker 3: everything we've heard tonight, well I didn't even know all
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: the things we heard tonight but it was enough that
- 1:52:56Speaker 3: I was like, no, this is not okay, not okay. Well,
- 1:53:00Speaker 3: thank you guys for that wonderful story tonight. I mean,
- 1:53:02Speaker 3: I know it was dark, very.
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: Did you just say a wonderful story?
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: Now? I just realized that wasn't the right word, ma'am.
- 1:53:09Speaker 2: I was already on streams wonderfully dark story.
- 1:53:16Speaker 3: How's that wonderfully dark? No, I meant wonderfully in the
- 1:53:19Speaker 3: way that you explained what you made to the audience.
- 1:53:22Speaker 3: I don't think that a story is wonderful, but I
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: think you guys did a very good job of explaining
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: what happened and really pulling the whole thing together. It's
- 1:53:35Speaker 3: a very disturbing story. I think it's a cautionary tale.
- 1:53:39Speaker 2: It is. If you have kids that are still younger
- 1:53:44Speaker 2: under the age of nineteen, please talk to you. Yeah.
- 1:53:50Speaker 3: No, no, but it's the reality they live in. We
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: got to accept that this is the reality.
- 1:53:59Speaker 2: I mean, I would be going through my child's phone
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: every night after they went to bed. I would be
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: checking all of that crap, and I would have some
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: kind of program on there to make sure they couldn't
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: delete those messages.
- 1:54:12Speaker 3: I mean, we know that they can't well, before we
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: wrap up this show tonight, let me just do a
- 1:54:18Speaker 3: quick little wrap up promo.
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: Again. If you guys love.
- 1:54:24Speaker 3: True crime and you want to see how the justice
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: system actually works in real time, join us tomorrow at

- 1:54:53Speaker 3: and murder, The Robert Dahl Horror. I don't know anything
- 1:54:58Speaker 3: about this really.
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: So is wild?
- 1:55:03Speaker 2: It okay? Is wild?
- 1:55:06Speaker 3: I have never heard of this man.
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: Oh okay, it's wild.

- 1:55:14Speaker 3: nine pm Eastern. The Robert Dahl Horror. Wine Wealth in
- 1:55:19Speaker 3: kind of sounds a little bit like our first murder

- 1:55:30Speaker 3: so next Sunday, let me speed it up on Sunday.

- 1:56:07Speaker 3: trail of bodies stretching from coast to coast. It is
- 1:56:10Speaker 3: the craziest story any of us have ever heard. It's insane.
- 1:56:14Speaker 3: They have murders everywhere, fake dust, blog posts that are
- 1:56:19Speaker 3: incomprehensible protests. It's insane.
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: Go watch it.
