Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Well comments, you'll feel better. Welcome to the dirty little secret.
- 0:05Speaker 2: If you have one. I didn't mean to talk about
- 0:07Speaker 2: dirty little secret.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Then go into dirty little secret. But it's just I
- 0:10Speaker 3: know she hates it. I'm not doing it. Yeah, she
- 0:12Speaker 3: said it's fine. So seven thirty tomorrow. If you have
- 0:14Speaker 3: a dirty little secret, okay, let us know eight three
- 0:17Speaker 3: three seven, eight seven and one o two nine.
- 0:19Speaker 2: You have one.
- 0:20Speaker 1: This is an ugly one. I gotta tell you. Okay, yeah,
- 0:25Speaker 1: I'm not proud of it. So I make my eleven
- 0:30Speaker 1: year old and sell candy for his band trip. And
- 0:35Speaker 1: sometimes it's door to door and sometimes it's in front
- 0:38Speaker 1: of you know, grocery stores or whatnot have you for
- 0:41Speaker 1: his band. Well that's well, that's the problem. No, it's
- 0:45Speaker 1: not cool because the problem is there is no band trip.
- 0:49Speaker 1: He's not even in band. No, he's not even in band.
- 0:51Speaker 2: So what is it?
- 0:52Speaker 1: I made it up?
- 0:53Speaker 2: So for what he's selling candy for what?
- 0:55Speaker 1: Well, we hit a rough patch this year.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 1:02Speaker 1: No, I mean no, before you judge, listen, I mean
- 1:05Speaker 1: his father left. It's just the two of us. We're
- 1:09Speaker 1: trying to make ends of me. We're counting dollars to
- 1:11Speaker 1: see how much money I can put in the gas
- 1:14Speaker 1: to get to work and still have something to eat
- 1:18Speaker 1: Ramen noodles every other night.
- 1:21Speaker 3: I'm not judging, and I'm sorry that you're in that position.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I just didn't expect it, that's all I'm saying. That's
- 1:26Speaker 3: why my reaction was like, what the because you're basically
- 1:30Speaker 3: having your kid go out there sell candy to make
- 1:33Speaker 3: profit for you and saying it's for his.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Band trip, Like how much is he?
- 1:36Speaker 3: I know?
- 1:37Speaker 1: I mean it's not a lot. I mean it's like
- 1:40Speaker 1: a couple hundred bucks a week on a good week,
- 1:42Speaker 1: on good week, but you know what right now, that's
- 1:46Speaker 1: groceries and electricity. Yeah, and that's that's how we're getting by.
- 1:51Speaker 1: And wow, I mean I just keep saying it's not permanent.
- 1:55Speaker 1: We're not doing this forever. It feels horrible, But I'm.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Never going to look at these kids outside of the
- 2:02Speaker 3: stores selling candy the same.
- 2:03Speaker 2: These kids being tom thumb all the time. I'm be like,
- 2:06Speaker 2: where your mamma.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I gave one to twenty the other day because he
- 2:09Speaker 3: was for his basketball team.
- 2:10Speaker 2: He didn't need Healy don't even play.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Basketball, but he's eaten that night isn't he.
- 2:15Speaker 2: That's exactly right.
- 2:17Speaker 3: That's why I'm like, hey, whatever you want to do
- 2:18Speaker 3: with the money, I don't know, so I'm not judging you.
- 2:20Speaker 3: This is a non judgment zone. And I'm sorry that you,
- 2:23Speaker 3: you know, hit some tough times. But but you see
- 2:26Speaker 3: my deal. How old did you say your son was?
- 2:27Speaker 1: Again, he's eleven, so he's old enough to know, okay that.
- 2:35Speaker 2: And he just goes along with it.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Well, he understands, he understands. You know, there's a nice
- 2:41Speaker 1: one that we didn't have anything to eat right until
- 2:43Speaker 1: we started doing this and dinner.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that does. That's heartbreaking, it really is. He can't
- 2:51Speaker 2: enjoy this or I'm sure he.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Doesn't love doing it, and he's a kid. He wants
- 2:54Speaker 3: to go out and plate. He doesn't want to stand
- 2:56Speaker 3: in front of Kroger or door to door selling candy.
- 3:00Speaker 1: But you know what, he'll come home and he'll hand
- 3:02Speaker 1: me the money and he'll say, we get it, mom,
- 3:05Speaker 1: we get okay. Today it's so awful, I'm just putting
- 3:13Speaker 1: in an institution. But I don't know what else to do.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I'm under employed. I can't get well fare because I
- 3:20Speaker 1: have a job, but I can't quit my job just
- 3:23Speaker 1: to go on, well fair, it doesn't make any sense.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I understand, No, I get it, and your your your
- 3:29Speaker 3: sweet boy, and I'm gonna tell you right now, this
- 3:32Speaker 3: is something I would have done for my mom.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I would have done it in a harty absolutely, you
- 3:36Speaker 2: know I would have done it.
- 3:37Speaker 3: And what a good kid, because you just do what
- 3:39Speaker 3: you gotta do. And he's at that age where listen,
- 3:42Speaker 3: I'm gonna see if there's any way I can find
- 3:44Speaker 3: you some gift cards to some poo. I'm sure we
- 3:46Speaker 3: have something to give you some even if I got
- 3:50Speaker 3: to give it by it, We'll find a way to
- 3:52Speaker 3: get you some some gift cards. So maybe there's at
- 3:56Speaker 3: least a few meals and stuff that you can have
- 3:58Speaker 3: that he doesn't have to, you know, because I feel
- 4:02Speaker 3: incredibly bad for you, whether it's morally correct what you're
- 4:04Speaker 3: doing or not. I mean, you gotta do what you
- 4:06Speaker 3: gotta do to survive. And I can't say what I
- 4:09Speaker 3: would do if I was in your position, so I'm
- 4:11Speaker 3: not going to sit here and judge you.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Well, I would like to think, on like the bright side,
- 4:16Speaker 1: that I'm teaching him how to survive on the very
- 4:21Speaker 1: bottom end of life.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean, listen, there's lessons to be learned
- 4:26Speaker 3: and everything, and I'm sure he's, you know, he is
- 4:28Speaker 3: going to take something from this and he I'm sure
- 4:32Speaker 3: he will absolutely understand things as you get older and
- 4:35Speaker 3: reflect upon it and go, wow, my mom was doing
- 4:37Speaker 3: everything she could and I did everything I could so
- 4:39Speaker 3: we could survive. And that's not necessarily a bad mentality
- 4:42Speaker 3: to have. So hey, but stay right there, so we
- 4:45Speaker 3: could try to take care of you and get you
- 4:48Speaker 3: a couple.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Of things, so maybe you, I don't know, just to
- 4:50Speaker 2: help out a little bit.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Okay, I really appreciate it. That's not why I called it, Hey, hold.
- 4:54Speaker 2: On, stay right to ooping out.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it's I already got a couple of messages saying, well,
- 5:00Speaker 3: don't reward that kind of behavior, And maybe you're right,
- 5:03Speaker 3: but when you hear something like that, it's hard not to.
- 5:07Speaker 3: And I'm not doing it for her as much as
- 5:08Speaker 3: I'm doing it for that little boy, you know what
- 5:11Speaker 3: I mean. So
