- 0:00People, as they scale, create their own prison like they're
- 0:02inside the box, reinforcing the walls around themselves.
- 0:05They don't even know who they are.
- 0:06They are what they want and what they need.
- 0:08All of their needs and their relevance, which is unfortunate,
- 0:12lies in this business. Your clients can be happy and
- 0:15getting results and you can be miserable and that is not OK.
- 0:18Yeah. But does your offer just feel
- 0:20like it's suffocating you? Leaders get bored, and they
- 0:23equate boredom to broken. And just because you're bored
- 0:25doesn't mean that the business is broken for you to scale with
- 0:27the way that you did it. It's like, yeah, more money,
- 0:29more clients, more stress. The most important person you're
- 0:32going to lead today is going to be you.
- 0:33The most important person you're going to influence today is
- 0:34going to be you. With your actions, with your
- 0:36thoughts, with the way in which you move.
- 0:38It's all about you. Hello and welcome back to
- 0:40Ambitious. I am very excited for today's
- 0:43episode because we are joined by an absolutely incredible guest,
- 0:46Tamasha. I'm going to tell you a little
- 0:48bit about Tamasha. Tamasha is a strategic
- 0:50leadership coach and works in business operations as a
- 0:53consultant dedicated to helping women build profitable,
- 0:56sustainable businesses without sacrificing their personal
- 0:59well-being. She specializes in leadership
- 1:01development, operational strategy, guiding clients to
- 1:03achieve consistent results while maintaining balance within their
- 1:06lives. She has a background in
- 1:09healthcare and entrepreneurship, and she brings a unique
- 1:12perspective to her coaching because she emphasizes the
- 1:15importance of aligning business growth with personal values and
- 1:18lifestyle. This episode, I will say we
- 1:21covered a lot of ground. OK, I just need to highlight to
- 1:25you some of the incredible things that you're going to be
- 1:27listening to in the next hour. Listening to this episode, we
- 1:31talked about what leadership really looks like beyond the
- 1:34traditional way we see it, of delegation and team management.
- 1:38We talked about why CE OS struggle to let go even though
- 1:42they've built a strong team or have strong team members that
- 1:45they could delegate to. We talked about the hidden
- 1:48emotional challenges of scaling a successful, growing, and
- 1:51expanding business. We talked about how boredom
- 1:54actually shows up in business and what it might actually be
- 1:57telling you about what it means and also what you need to do.
- 2:00We talked about the difference between vision, mission, values,
- 2:03and why most people in this bucket are missing the mark.
- 2:06What happens when your values actually live more in a Google
- 2:10Doc than they actually do within your company?
- 2:12How entrepreneurs unintentionally create a
- 2:14business that they want to escape, the overlooked
- 2:17consequences of building a business without personal
- 2:19alignment, and why so many leaders feel isolated even in
- 2:24the peak of some of their success.
- 2:26So as I said, we touched on so much and we covered so much
- 2:30ground. So I cannot wait for you to dive
- 2:31in. So without further ado, let's
- 2:33get into the episode. All right, you guys, welcome
- 2:43back to Ambitious. We're so excited to dive in
- 2:45today. We were just vibing out before
- 2:47we press record and I feel like today is going to be like a good
- 2:50unfiltered one. I have continuously religiously
- 2:54consumed her lives and I'm obsessed with hearing her talk.
- 2:57So I was so excited to see her name on the calendar to come on
- 3:00the podcast today. So, Tamasha, welcome to
- 3:02Ambitious. Thank you for having me.
- 3:04I'm so excited. I'm glad that you like, you
- 3:07know, consume my lives. What's a good time on there?
- 3:10Oh, I love it. And the thing that I love is
- 3:12anyone who just has like an unfiltered like channeling of
- 3:15the thing that they talk about all day every day.
- 3:17So if someone listening maybe hasn't consumed as much of your
- 3:20stuff or maybe it's not as familiar with like your work,
- 3:23give us like a quick snapshot of kind of the the one O 1 of the
- 3:26type of work that you do with people.
- 3:28Yeah, so hi, I'm Tamasha, and if you have not encountered me, you
- 3:32should. I'm a coach that you need to
- 3:34know. I am a lover of all things
- 3:36strategy, structure, leadership, sales and honestly, my clients,
- 3:41like they call me when they're like done overthinking.
- 3:44They're ready to make decisions and actually move the needle in
- 3:46their business. And that's the type of coach
- 3:48that I am. I have a sharp eye for strategy,
- 3:50no fluff approach and I really enjoy helping high achieving
- 3:54women really cut through the noise of life and business and
- 3:56get clear on what really matters and start creating momentum.
- 3:59Yeah, I love it. So you guys cut throat.
- 4:01I love it. Cut throat strategy is like
- 4:03exactly my flavor. OK, so we were just talking
- 4:06before we press record and we were talking about, you know,
- 4:08there's all these terms, right, of like leadership and team and
- 4:12delegate and all of these things.
- 4:14And obviously both of us work with a lot of scaling women in
- 4:17business. And so I think there's
- 4:19definitely a lot to unpack around that because I think even
- 4:22the idea of leadership feels for many people so Gray, like so
- 4:27many of us know delegation, we think about like SO PS and we
- 4:31think about processes and it feels so structured.
- 4:34But I think there's this aspect around leadership, which is
- 4:37like, what does leadership even mean?
- 4:39Like in the sense of is it an embodiment?
- 4:41Is it something we integrate in the business?
- 4:44Is it both? So like for you, when you think
- 4:46about leadership and the type of work that you do, what does that
- 4:49look like for you with the businesses you work with?
- 4:52Yeah. So leadership for me looks like
- 4:54clarity and it looks like not just leading A-Team, but really
- 4:57leading yourself, your business and your decisions with not just
- 5:02clarity and confidence, but also conviction.
- 5:06And that last piece is typically missing because it's like, yeah,
- 5:09it's not about doing more. It's and it's not about being
- 5:11everywhere at one time. It's about doing what actually
- 5:14matters, being clear on what matters, and positioning
- 5:17yourself for long term success, not just like something quick
- 5:22without sacrificing yourself, right, Without losing the
- 5:25presence that you have in your life, without losing the
- 5:27position that you have in your business.
- 5:29Good leadership to me is well-rounded.
- 5:32I love that idea of like in you because I think one of the
- 5:35things that most people ignore is the fact that even if you
- 5:38have a team or even if you're going to leave clients, it's the
- 5:41whole idea of what's caught versus what's taught.
- 5:43And I think in my opinion, at least with a lot of businesses
- 5:46that I work with, there's so many people ready to preach all
- 5:49the time. But then there's also this
- 5:51aspect of like, hey, super quick, let's pull up the mirror
- 5:54and see if you embody these aspects.
- 5:56And so I think like, for example, I have entrepreneurs
- 5:59who come to me like, I just want my team to like, you know,
- 6:02really be heart centered. I'm like, but you're not heart
- 6:04centered. Like you do business or I want
- 6:07my, my team to be really, you know, this specific way.
- 6:10But then when they check themselves or when I gently
- 6:13check them in that area, there's this lack of embodiment.
- 6:18And so I'm curious, like for you, what you see with clients
- 6:21because at least for me, I feel like what ends up happening when
- 6:25people think about leadership, they think of this oftentimes as
- 6:27a misconception. That's like top down idea.
- 6:30And you know, one of the best quotes that I heard was like the
- 6:33every business, the leader is like the lid of the business.
- 6:36So like the business will never outgrow its leader.
- 6:38But the thing with that quote that I think is interesting is
- 6:42like, I think you being the cap means that you hold the space,
- 6:45but it also doesn't mean it has to be this idea of like top
- 6:48down. It's kind of you embodying it
- 6:50with your team as well. So I'm curious for you, like
- 6:52when you work with people on that embodiment, what do you
- 6:55see? I often see people being inside
- 6:59the jar, right? And so when I think about
- 7:01business, I think about a jar. And this is how I explain it to
- 7:03clients. It's like a good leader is
- 7:05someone who knows how to be in the jar, but also be outside of
- 7:08the jar, right? And you really should start
- 7:10figuring out how do you spend at least 50% or more of your time
- 7:13outside of the jar, outside of the day-to-day of what's going
- 7:16on outside of just sitting in the work and looking at the work
- 7:20and planning for what's coming after this work in this step.
- 7:23And so I often see people over glorifying the grind, right?
- 7:29And like really loving being the busiest person in the room.
- 7:32And it's so interesting because like you build this team and,
- 7:35and you're still like, I just got so much going on.
- 7:39I got this and I got that. And they're like, that's what's
- 7:41fueling them and that's what's exciting them and them.
- 7:44And I'm like, but there's, there's so much more.
- 7:46If you would just let it go. Well, I feel like when we first
- 7:51get in business and I talk to people about this all the time
- 7:53when it comes to team or leadership, we when we get into
- 7:55business, we're kind of like a firefighter.
- 7:57Like we just love getting in there and putting up the fires
- 8:00and being in the problems. And we get this kind of like
- 8:03indirect dopamine hit when we have an issue, we're like boom,
- 8:06solved, boom solved. And like we're just killing it
- 8:08and crushing all these problems. The issue is then when you go to
- 8:12delegate, if you don't, in my opinion, create like a new
- 8:16identity, a new like this is where I fit or this is how I'm
- 8:20impactful in the business. I've literally had conversations
- 8:24with people who are the CEO and the leader of a $200,000 a month
- 8:29business and they're like Kate, I work with their teams and
- 8:32they're like, he won't get out of my emails.
- 8:34And I'm like, what are you talking about?
- 8:36Like he's trying to get in there and manage the inbox of the
- 8:38e-mail when he hired me to do that.
- 8:41And so when we start to unravel it, what we've recognized is
- 8:45like, it's not because he wants to answer the e-mail.
- 8:47He's not like eager to dive into emails.
- 8:50He doesn't know what to do with the space that has been created
- 8:54because that identity hasn't been shaped yet.
- 8:57So because of that, the only identity that he knows that's
- 8:59like in his core and in his being is to be in the weeds.
- 9:03So I think there's also this aspect when people delegate and
- 9:06kind of not really truly delegating it entirely is also
- 9:11maybe there's some people who don't trust the team.
- 9:13I've had that before. But I think there's also this
- 9:15aspect of they don't know what to do with themselves if they're
- 9:18not in those weeds and having that dopamine hit and putting
- 9:21those fires out. Yeah.
- 9:23And to take it a step further is they don't trust themselves,
- 9:27right? It's just one thing to build
- 9:29something that you're a part of that you're like literally in
- 9:32the seat doing it all the time. Like you built that, I created
- 9:36that. I wrote that script, I created
- 9:38that program. I was teaching all those people
- 9:40with all those results and where they came from versus when you
- 9:43say I'm now I'm pulled out of it.
- 9:45You got to trust that what you've built can stand without
- 9:48you. And I think that that is a whole
- 9:50new level to trust that the things that you have been doing
- 9:54for years and the seed that you've been sowing that it can
- 9:57produce without you literally being there.
- 10:00So many people, I think especially leaders in
- 10:02entrepreneurship, they consider themselves to be the seed versus
- 10:05being the ground, right? Like for a long time, you are
- 10:09the seed. You're the thing that like
- 10:11you're planning yourself in this business and you're doing all
- 10:13the work and you're the thing that's supposed to produce.
- 10:16Yeah. And when you become a leader,
- 10:17now you're just your ground, you're the roots.
- 10:20You don't really have to do anything right but nourish the
- 10:23rest of the plant. And that is a very boring place
- 10:26to be because if you think about it, we rarely see the root.
- 10:31Yeah, you just see the trees and the fruit, and that's the
- 10:35difficulty. And I wonder, though, if people
- 10:38have that as a conscious awareness.
- 10:41I doubt it because I, I, yeah, I was going to say as soon as you
- 10:43said that my, my thought goes to potentially this being the
- 10:48reason that people pivot because in my opinion, and I'm sure you
- 10:51see this, I, I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this.
- 10:53But I see so many people build teams and then collapse the team
- 10:59and it, it's interesting because there's so many layers to it,
- 11:03right? Like obviously there's the
- 11:04consideration of all the people that were involved and who are
- 11:07now not involved. Like you.
- 11:08We see so many people pivoting and as you said that my first
- 11:12inclination goes to like lack of acknowledgement and awareness of
- 11:16that being the case of what your role is going to be could very
- 11:20well be the seed of why people are needing to make those pivots
- 11:24potentially 235 years down the road because now they have us
- 11:28awareness. OK, great.
- 11:29I'm not the center of everything.
- 11:31Am I OK with that? And does that mean that I have
- 11:34the business that I want? You know what I what I hear when
- 11:39when you say that really is this idea of boredom, right?
- 11:43And especially in our space, I find that more leaders get bored
- 11:46and they equate boredom to broken.
- 11:49And just because you're bored doesn't mean that the business
- 11:51is broken. It just means, right that maybe
- 11:53you have built something so good, maybe you have done such a
- 11:56great job that like, yeah, the sales team can do things without
- 11:59you and yeah, you're admin people, they can take care of
- 12:02the business and deal with any discrepancies or, you know,
- 12:05challenges with clients on their own and in the program is doing
- 12:09well and clients don't need you as much.
- 12:11And there's this like internal desire to be needed.
- 12:14We all want that whether we want to say it or not.
- 12:16And so when business owners tell me that they're getting bored,
- 12:19which I hear a lot from women, I feel bored in my business.
- 12:22They there is this like sibilance in their brain and oh,
- 12:25this must be broken if I'm bored.
- 12:27And it's like, no, maybe you did a really good thing.
- 12:32And now that you feel bored, it's time for you to make a bold
- 12:34decision, right? And figure out how is it that
- 12:39you can get rid of that boredom and just do something more bold.
- 12:44It's one of the reasons why I recommend for all of my clients
- 12:46when they do have the bigger teams or they are in the bigger
- 12:50businesses, is to find a role in the business that fulfills you.
- 12:54Especially if you are actually ACEO, right?
- 12:57Like you're not just an owner, someone who just kind of pops
- 13:00in, see how things are going. XY and Z, you really are ACEO.
- 13:04Find a role that works for you and hold on to that.
- 13:07You may be the salesperson you really enjoy, that you wanted.
- 13:09You still want to do the calls and you still want to deal with
- 13:12people in the DMS or whatever that is.
- 13:13Do that, find a role, and you will kind of like be able to
- 13:18overcome the boredom that I think really leads people to
- 13:21burning down and actually breaking their own businesses a
- 13:24lot. I was just going to say, I think
- 13:26that the boredom, it's kind of like when people who haven't
- 13:30been exposed to silence experience silence and they
- 13:32start to go crazy and they're kind of like, I don't like this,
- 13:34this is uncomfortable. I'm just regulated.
- 13:37I think that happens in business.
- 13:38And I think to your point, people experience that and then
- 13:41they go and they break something.
- 13:43So they have something to do. And sometimes to the point,
- 13:48which is the hard part, I'm sure for you and something that I
- 13:50experienced, obviously for me, the tough part is seeing the
- 13:53collateral damage that happens, the collateral damage of people
- 13:57who really maybe didn't have an understanding of the vision of
- 14:01the business other than to be just totally transparent, direct
- 14:04finances. Like it's like, I want to hit X
- 14:06number of money and I don't care how I do it.
- 14:08I see this collateral damage because people's vision is
- 14:10completely rooted in revenue. And then because they have no
- 14:14other bumper lanes, it's just like, in any way, shape or form,
- 14:17let's do it. And it always happens.
- 14:19And I, I preface it with every person that comes into like my
- 14:23virtual office. I'm like, when you get here, I'm
- 14:26going to tell you what the process is going to look like.
- 14:27And I'm telling you the potential of what could happen
- 14:29when you arrive because I've seen it 15 times over.
- 14:32You're going to be so excited to hit, say, 7 figures, multiple 7
- 14:34figures, whatever the number is, because that's your vision.
- 14:37You're going to build all this structure.
- 14:38And if you're not careful along the way, you're going to get
- 14:40there and you're going to hate it and then you're going to
- 14:42break it to the ground. And I was like, it's much better
- 14:45if we can to try to build it from a place of intention and
- 14:48like rooted in values and all of those pieces.
- 14:52And I'm curious for you, like when you've seen obviously and
- 14:55you have exposure to people who've quote, UN quote broken
- 14:57their business, what do you see as kind of like, I guess
- 15:00symptoms or like signs that maybe someone kind of does lack
- 15:04that tuning in with their business that they might need to
- 15:06have to be successful long term? You know, I often find that when
- 15:11I ask them, I always ask this one question, right?
- 15:14So I always ask people like, tell me about your dream life
- 15:18and I'll just ask that question. It's very, it's very vague,
- 15:20right? There's nothing specific there.
- 15:22And I listen to what their answers are.
- 15:24Or I read it in a form and everything's about the business,
- 15:29right? They don't mention much about
- 15:31their personal lives. It's just everything like, I'm
- 15:32going to do this. I want to hit this.
- 15:33I want to have this, one of this.
- 15:34I don't have this many people. And then I'll turn around and
- 15:37I'll say, OK, so then tell me about how this will affect you
- 15:41as a person. And it's they're very slow to
- 15:44answer. And so I would encourage anyone
- 15:46who's listening to this, right, especially is if you find that
- 15:49you're very fast and quick to respond to all of your business
- 15:53goals and desires and wants. And when I ask you about
- 15:56yourself or your life, it's real slow.
- 15:58And it's almost like you're confused.
- 16:01That immediately lets me know that this person is so deep into
- 16:05this business that they don't even know who they are more than
- 16:08likely, or what they want and what they need.
- 16:10All of their needs and their relevance, which is unfortunate,
- 16:14lies in this business. It's a scary place to be because
- 16:18as the business then roller coasters, as they do you roller
- 16:21coaster along with it. So I'm thinking for that
- 16:24question, someone's listening to that and they think, OK, well, I
- 16:28have a a vision for my business, but I feel like I have no vision
- 16:32for my life in connection with that.
- 16:35So again, like, I think a lot of people that come to me when I
- 16:38ask, you know, what's the goal or what do you see for yourself?
- 16:41Same thing, 7 figures, 4-5 team members, maybe make 2 signature
- 16:46offers, low ticket, high ticket. Like it's like it's crystal
- 16:50clear. On like what they?
- 16:51Could see. And then I was like, OK, like
- 16:54how many hours a week do you want to work?
- 16:56Or like what do you prioritize outside of work that's really
- 16:58important to you that we want to make sure you have space for?
- 17:01Like what are those things? And again, to your point, they
- 17:04end up being very slow. So I'm curious if someone feels
- 17:07like they have like the business number clarity or like
- 17:10hypothetical structure clarity, but they don't have that, that
- 17:14congruency between that and their life.
- 17:16Where do you usually start with clients to kind of help people
- 17:18to to unpack that or create some synergy between it?
- 17:22I typically start with what's going OK that they could see
- 17:28being better. You know, oftentimes we kind of
- 17:30lean to like, you know, especially when people come to
- 17:32us, it's like, well, what are the challenges?
- 17:33What's not going well? And I typically start especially
- 17:37because I work primarily with women.
- 17:38Is what's going good that you would like more of right?
- 17:42Like are you feeling, do you feel like you're not making it
- 17:44to all of your kids soccer games, maybe only making it to
- 17:46one a month? Do you find that like you would
- 17:48love to be able to read them, you know, bedtime stories?
- 17:50Are you not getting in all of your workouts at the start of
- 17:54the day and and you're like, well, what's going on?
- 17:56Like, what do you do? You prefer to read and you
- 17:59haven't read in six months, you know, just a regular romance
- 18:03novel, like Netflix and chill. And so I started asking them,
- 18:07like, what are some of the areas where you know you desire
- 18:11better, you want more. You find yourself when you do
- 18:14get in those little pockets of peace or those pockets of joy,
- 18:16you're like, oh, I wish this didn't have to end right.
- 18:20Like I find women saying like, I just when I do go on vacation,
- 18:23I'm just like, Oh my gosh, I could just always have a few
- 18:27more days. Well, what if we got you to the
- 18:29place to where when you went on vacation, you didn't have that
- 18:31feeling anymore because you were vacationing and taking off time
- 18:35so frequently? And so we don't always
- 18:37recognize, I think like in me asking that question, I start
- 18:41there because sometimes you don't recognize how much more
- 18:44you desire in those areas that are OK, they're just good
- 18:47enough. Let's make it great.
- 18:49Let's make it excellent. And the fact that we're creating
- 18:51it, that's what's mind boggling to me is like for so many people
- 18:55to be entrepreneurs and like this innovator of the life that
- 18:58they want, the business that they want.
- 18:59What I see time and time again, which is sad, is that people, as
- 19:03they scale, create their own prison.
- 19:05Like they're inside the box, reinforcing the walls around
- 19:08themselves. And it's just because of a lack
- 19:10of awareness of the fact of what the decisions are that they're
- 19:13making and then the consequences of those.
- 19:16And I think, you know, the thing for me around vision, which was
- 19:18a huge eye opening thing. I used to have vision as like
- 19:22metrics and milestones, which was a massive problem because it
- 19:27meant that I was never happy. And it also wasn't really
- 19:30helpful in having a team because truthfully, when I first
- 19:33started, it was all about like, hey, hit seven figures.
- 19:35That was like I was gunning for that goal.
- 19:38Of course got there, super caffeinated dry shampoo in my
- 19:42hair, miserable. Haven't take.
- 19:43I was that girl. I had not taken a vacation, let
- 19:46alone gone and wanted more. I hadn't gone at all.
- 19:48And so I remember kind of having that pivotal moment then and
- 19:52being like, OK, well, this ain't it.
- 19:54Cuz I was like, if this is 7 figures, I don't want it.
- 19:57And so I kind of started to reevaluate.
- 19:59And so I thought, don't make it about the number, make it about
- 20:01the structure. So like make it about the offers
- 20:04or make it about the marketing or whatever it might be of
- 20:06things I wanted to see happen or come to fruition that weren't
- 20:09connected to a specific number. But that also was hard because.
- 20:13In business, so many things change so fast.
- 20:16If the market changes, you might adjust.
- 20:18I would say, I want to really sell this offer.
- 20:20And then we had like triple the demand for one-on-one and I
- 20:23thought what the heck is this? This doesn't go with the vision,
- 20:25right? This isn't in the bucket.
- 20:27And I think what I did actually an intensive for coaching for
- 20:31myself and for our team, one of the things that came up was this
- 20:35kind of constant feeling of failure because it was a marker.
- 20:39It wasn't a matter of this kind of like overall pathway we were
- 20:43going down that had two bumper lanes that generally speaking,
- 20:46we're in the right area. And so I think starting to build
- 20:49a vision off of a mission that we had and a impact that we
- 20:53wanted to create and also values around what we cared about
- 20:58helped us to feel less shame and not going a certain path or
- 21:03fitting a certain bucket. And also helped our team to feel
- 21:07really empowered to know that like if it changes around this
- 21:10offer, this marketing, we don't kind of judge ourselves.
- 21:13We just overall are trying to head in this direction.
- 21:16And I'm curious for you like what you with the teams that you
- 21:19work with or for yourself even, what do you think when it comes
- 21:23to like vision, say versus like mission and those sorts of
- 21:25things when it helps to guide the vision of the company?
- 21:29When I think about vision versus mission, I always really just
- 21:33look at the intention behind what it is that we see
- 21:37oftentimes. Like our mission is like, I want
- 21:39to impact a bunch of people, right?
- 21:41And I want to, you know, help women to change their lives.
- 21:43But when I think vision, I think that it includes both the
- 21:47founder and the people impacted, right?
- 21:50Vision is something that is, again, it's the whole
- 21:53perspective and impact. And so, you know, when you think
- 21:56about vision, I'm always pushing clients and women to think from
- 22:00the place of not just what impact are you going to provide
- 22:04to people, but how is that going to be able to impact you as
- 22:07well? Because I think we focus so much
- 22:10in our, in like, especially in our mission, it's all about
- 22:12other people, but our vision includes us.
- 22:14And so we have to intentionally think like, I actually get to
- 22:18decide how I'm going to be impacted by this.
- 22:21How is this going to also help me?
- 22:23Yes, I'm helping clients make 6 and multiple six and seven and
- 22:26multiple 7 figures, but how is that going to impact me as a
- 22:30human being? How is that freeing me for more?
- 22:34What are? Some examples of what you've
- 22:36seen, like in the sense of examples of what that might look
- 22:38like when people start to define that distinction between like
- 22:42vision for the team versus vision for themselves or the
- 22:44mission for the team versus themselves.
- 22:47Yeah, so I've seen like 1 client.
- 22:50She had a great business, came to me almost around 7 figures at
- 22:54this point. And you know, her goal was to be
- 22:56able to, obviously she wants to be able to impact more people,
- 23:00but in a deeper way. And so she was having challenges
- 23:03with like so much 1 to 1 and things like that.
- 23:05And I started asking, I said, well, what is it doing for you?
- 23:09And so one of the things that she wanted was to have, you
- 23:12know, a marriage where she felt like she was more present there
- 23:16with her husband, right? So they had kids and there was a
- 23:19lot going on constantly back and forth.
- 23:21And so for her, it looks like, yes, while I am sometimes
- 23:24traveling and I'm seeing clients and I'm serving, I also want to
- 23:28be seen and I also want to enjoy life as a married person, right?
- 23:34And so for her, that looks like her being present with husband,
- 23:37actually going out on regular dates and you know, like
- 23:40spending quality time on the weekend with him versus like
- 23:42being inside the program or doing client feedback reviews.
- 23:46And that gave her energy in life.
- 23:48So there's like a small example of something that she wanted to
- 23:51do to have more time. She wanted to speak more instead
- 23:54of coach all the time, right? She enjoys in person that she
- 23:58reminded me a lot of myself. She enjoys in person things.
- 24:01And so she wanted to do more in person experiences and kind of
- 24:05get off of the Zoom for her that we really were able to get to.
- 24:09Like, what do you see? How do you see yourself playing
- 24:12a part in all of this amazing transformation that you're
- 24:16causing for other people? So short answer is mission is a
- 24:21transformation for people. Vision is a holistic
- 24:23transformation for you and your people.
- 24:26And I so want to echo something that you just said, because I
- 24:28think I, I think it's basically on every single business owners
- 24:31vision board, which is impact. And it's this such general word
- 24:36because I think the idea of impact, impact in what way?
- 24:40Like I think what you just did there, which I really want to
- 24:43highlight for everybody is you're giving impact texture.
- 24:46Like you're being able to really pull it apart and say, OK, but
- 24:49if I, if you're creating impact, what does that look like?
- 24:52And I remember for me when I was growing and kind of starting, I
- 24:56was like, I'm going to help everybody.
- 24:57I'm just going to be like this like massive giver in this space
- 25:00and just impact everybody that I touch.
- 25:03But obviously, like many people, I got completely at capacity and
- 25:06couldn't do it. And I felt stretched 1,000,000
- 25:08in different directions. And I was like, I feel like this
- 25:09is not helping anybody because I've got nothing left to give.
- 25:12And I was trying to help beginners and mid tier and
- 25:14scaling and teams and all of the things.
- 25:17And I remember a coach coming to me.
- 25:19I said, yeah, but like, I don't want to not help beginners
- 25:21because if I don't help beginners, like I'm not gonna be
- 25:23able to impact them. And I remember him asking me
- 25:25like a very simple question, but it was always to stay something
- 25:28that I've kind of kept in my heart as like the compass of
- 25:30decisions which came from the impact you're looking to make.
- 25:34Who says that it has to be financial?
- 25:37And I was like, oopsie, let me journal on that one.
- 25:42So I remember sitting there and it just like hit me like a ton
- 25:45of bricks because I was thinking about this offer in this course,
- 25:48in this whatever. And he's like, you realize that
- 25:50people are impacted everyday by brands and they never spend a
- 25:54penny. You consume their TikTok, you
- 25:56listen to their podcast, you watch their YouTube and he's
- 26:00like, what if you could look at keeping the offers you love,
- 26:03like keep the keep the mastermind, keep the one-on-one,
- 26:05keep the in person stuff if you like it.
- 26:07But what would it look like if you impacted people and it
- 26:09wasn't connected to any investment at all?
- 26:11And when I got that permission slip to again, give texture to
- 26:15like impact for me meant I don't want an offer around it.
- 26:18I just want to pour into you and you can get it accessed
- 26:21anywhere. It allowed this new level of
- 26:24like permission in the business to do it quote UN quote my way,
- 26:29but still hit that impact bucket.
- 26:31And so I think like obviously I'm sure you see the word, you
- 26:34know, it's all like it's so funny because not very original.
- 26:37Our programs are called impact income ITI.
- 26:40But you know, it was something I created back in the day.
- 26:42I could have done better with that that label or that title,
- 26:44but we'll move on from there. But I basically was someone who
- 26:47really wanted to make sure I worked with people who focused
- 26:49on impact. But I'm curious for you, when
- 26:53you see that word impact and you see that come up with clients or
- 26:58even with people that you're helping to kind of create this
- 27:00vision for their business, what do you see in the sense of the
- 27:03categories or the texture of how you kind of look at impact?
- 27:08When I think about impact, and I say this say this a lot, I think
- 27:11about like acting accordingly, right?
- 27:14Impact is about how is it that you actually want to be living,
- 27:20breathing, seen, adorned in, viewed.
- 27:25Oftentimes, I think that we are moving in a way that we think
- 27:28people want us to move versus how we want to move.
- 27:32And so impacting is leading by example.
- 27:34It is about shifting your mind and not just changing the
- 27:39strategy, right? It's about creating long lasting
- 27:43change and even being willing to shift or challenge the norm.
- 27:47That's impact to me, right? And so when I think about the
- 27:52the way that I impact right, like I from the beginning,
- 27:55wanted to help women move differently in their businesses
- 27:58and lives. I wanted women to see that you
- 28:01get to challenge the norm of what people say business
- 28:06leadership should look like, but especially for a woman, you get
- 28:11to say that I'm going to have this incredible, glorious
- 28:15business and I'm also going to have a very joyful life.
- 28:17And they're going to be in tandem.
- 28:19It's not going to be just when I go on vacation or, you know,
- 28:22just when I get time off. It's going to be every day.
- 28:25And that's what impact is for me.
- 28:28It is not just saying I'm going to impact your revenue.
- 28:31I'm going to also impact the reinvention of who you are and
- 28:36what it is that you do and how you move through it because a
- 28:39lot of us are really good at what we do.
- 28:42The challenge is how we do it and how we impact people because
- 28:45that affects how we live our lives.
- 28:49Well, and I'm curious because obviously many of us who've been
- 28:52in business for years, like have to repeat our mission 15 times a
- 28:55day, team members, clients, content, whatever.
- 28:58You obviously summarize that so distinctly.
- 29:00And I'm thinking someone listening to this is probably
- 29:02like, I don't have that distinct of a mission for my business.
- 29:06How did you get there to make that feel like #1 that that was
- 29:11your mission and #2 to make it something so distinct to
- 29:14communicate? Because I think a lot of people
- 29:16are like, yeah, like, I want to help people.
- 29:17It's like have more freedom and do this and it's it's kind of
- 29:20grey. There's not like a really like
- 29:22when you stand with us, this is what you stand for.
- 29:26How did you find or is there anything that you found helpful
- 29:30that were tools to help you really create a easily definable
- 29:33mission number one and two, memorable.
- 29:36Like as you said, that I'm like, that's really memorable.
- 29:38And I think it's important. Like obviously that's in a brand
- 29:40bucket in marketing and all of that, but I think it's really
- 29:43important because when you speak to that, and I just want to kind
- 29:46of like break the 4th wall here, when she speaks to that on a
- 29:50podcast, you're going to remember that statement, which
- 29:53means now you remember tamasha. So the thing I'm curious about
- 29:56is like how you distill it down? Cuz I think for many people it's
- 29:59a big difficulty. They just think I want to help
- 30:00people make more money or help them be more free.
- 30:03Yeah. You know, it's, I mean, this is
- 30:05years in the making, right, even before I became a business
- 30:08owner. And so I always give that
- 30:09because I think we feel, and let me put this out there, right?
- 30:13It's just off the cuff. There's this rush to really
- 30:16figure out this cute and curated mission.
- 30:18And I promise you that's not where it is.
- 30:21You know, I found that my impact was in the results and not the
- 30:24noise. And we create a lot of noise in
- 30:26our heads trying to find the best way to say this and the
- 30:29best way to articulate that. And so through me doing the
- 30:32work, I had a heart to help women do business differently.
- 30:36It started there really just helping real women get real
- 30:40results and be able to live a real life.
- 30:42That's literally what I used to say back in the day.
- 30:44And it was, it was generic, right?
- 30:47But through the results that I was getting for women, through
- 30:50me having to navigate their challenges and help them to
- 30:53navigate what they were going to do, the results showed me what
- 30:57my mission was and what I was really doing.
- 31:01And they've continued to push me in ways where sometimes I don't
- 31:04want to be pushed to make challenges and to make changes
- 31:07sometimes I didn't want to make right.
- 31:09And so I always tell people that the impact that you want to have
- 31:13and the mission that you're going after, it is in the
- 31:15results. I promise you there.
- 31:17What are the women? Not what you want to say, not
- 31:19what your cute positioning statement says, not what your
- 31:22bio says. Yeah.
- 31:24What are the women and the people in their reviews and in
- 31:27their conversations with you and in those Fox or chats and the
- 31:30Slack channels and in those, you know, individual conversations
- 31:33and in the rooms, What are they vocalized rising that you've
- 31:36helped change in their life? I have women tell me that kept
- 31:40them from getting divorced. Women tell me that their kids
- 31:42are now saying, Mommy, I I love that you made it to all of my
- 31:45games. You didn't miss a game this
- 31:47season or, you know, a woman saying like, I finally I feel
- 31:51healthier because I'm, I'm walking every day and I'm eating
- 31:54lunch and I'm not skipping it because a client call went
- 31:57longer. Or like I'm on vacation and my
- 31:59phone is off and it's off. That is impact.
- 32:04Those are the things that I needed to hear and I needed to
- 32:07see. I wasn't just helping them to
- 32:08create more revenue. I was helping them to create
- 32:11more space. I was helping them to be more
- 32:13joyful. I wouldn't have seen that had I
- 32:15not done the work. And so I think that number one,
- 32:18the work will work if you allow it to work.
- 32:21But #2 your mission is in the results, not the noise.
- 32:25And I'm hearing from that there's two things I take from
- 32:27that, which is I think there's an aspect of what we want our
- 32:29impact to be versus what it inevitably becomes.
- 32:32So like if you're like, but no, this isn't what our impact is
- 32:35supposed to be. It's like all your clients are
- 32:36saying something different. So we might want to lean with
- 32:40listening to the data that's happening in your world.
- 32:42But I think the other thing that also comes from that for me is
- 32:45that I very much resonate with it is the idea that your impact
- 32:49can also find you instead of you finding it.
- 32:52And that's basically how my quote UN quote mission came to
- 32:56be because I was in a mastermind that had like 3 women in the
- 32:59room. And I thought, what is going on?
- 33:01Either women couldn't make it all at the same time or this
- 33:05program only has like 5 women in it.
- 33:07That's shocking. So I was like, first of all, we
- 33:11need a different room. This is not OK.
- 33:13And it's not even to say that there had to be, you know,
- 33:15female or male rooms, but just like we need more balance.
- 33:18And so that was kind of the initial spark.
- 33:21And then I remember going into the female business coaching
- 33:25consulting space and I would go into masterminds where I would
- 33:28go to like look to basically get a mentor.
- 33:30And it was like join our wine night and join like meet your
- 33:33best girlfriends in this program.
- 33:35And I thought like, and I love it.
- 33:38I love building my network and where's the funnels like, and
- 33:42where's the strategy? Like I wanted to still learn the
- 33:45things that you're talking about today.
- 33:46How do I build the vision for my business?
- 33:48How do I build my mission? What are my values?
- 33:51And I found that I couldn't find that anywhere.
- 33:54So I was like, I'm not, you know, negating all the work
- 33:56that's needed in mindset to help you to have the business you
- 33:59want. But can we get a little bit of
- 34:01like, you know, both together? Like why do we have to have such
- 34:05extremes? So that made me think, OK, more
- 34:08women in the room paired with more masculine and feminine
- 34:11combination. Interesting.
- 34:13And then I remember being around trying to look for rooms of
- 34:17people who had been doing 7 figures a year in revenue and I
- 34:20couldn't find a lot of rooms that again, were masculine,
- 34:22feminine, who had that amount of women in them.
- 34:25And so I thought, like, where are they?
- 34:27Like either they're hiding in their offices working on their
- 34:31laptop, or they don't exist. And so I literally the nerd that
- 34:35I am, I literally searched how many women on average have a 7
- 34:39figure a year business and revenue.
- 34:42And then I see the stat of the time was like 3% of all female
- 34:46founded businesses. And I thought you'd be freaking
- 34:48kidding me right now. So I was pissed.
- 34:50Obviously being raised by a single mom and hardcore feminist
- 34:53household, I was pissed because I thought this makes sense.
- 34:56There wasn't women in the room. Women are not maybe getting
- 35:00access to the resources or the strategies of the approaches
- 35:02that they need. And so then it became we want to
- 35:05change the stat and the way in which we do it is by integrating
- 35:09masculine and feminine and not making women have to choose
- 35:11anymore. And so like the mission was not
- 35:13me in a Google doc because I had to your point earlier, that doc,
- 35:18I had the doc of I'm going to make my vision and my mission
- 35:22and I like went and I sat down and made this BS statement that
- 35:25I never looked at after the day I completed it.
- 35:27Yeah. But I think the thing that I
- 35:29want to accentuate of what you're saying for people
- 35:31listening is also maybe if you're early in business or you
- 35:34haven't been in business that long, it just maybe hasn't found
- 35:36you yet. Or to your point, the results
- 35:39are not there enough to give you the evidence you need to feel
- 35:42clear that OK, that's it. That's the nugget.
- 35:44Yeah, no. And, and because I think a part
- 35:46of the way is, you know, a lot of things in business, it's
- 35:50first proved to you before you can prove it to other people.
- 35:53And we don't love to give room for that process.
- 35:56There is a proving of almost everything before we actually
- 36:00have the solid ability to prove it to other people.
- 36:04You think about the journey in business, your first six figures
- 36:05is about you proving right to yourself that this really is
- 36:09even a thing. Like, yes, you have to prove to
- 36:11people that you have something you know to to buy and that it's
- 36:13going to get them results, but you're also proving to yourself
- 36:16like, oh, like this thing actually works, right?
- 36:18The first couple of months it's mainly to your parents.
- 36:20After that, yeah, it's, it's basically you and then a larger
- 36:23audience for. Sure.
- 36:24And then you start growing beyond that six figures, you get
- 36:26to multiple six or seven figures.
- 36:27And, and now it's even thicker about like, Oh, I got to prove
- 36:31that I can do this exercise to myself.
- 36:33And so there's so much about yourself in that and allowing
- 36:38yourself to know like it's going to come to me.
- 36:40Like you said, mission will come to you if you start with the
- 36:45heart and with the intention. Let the mission come because no
- 36:49matter what, if you got the heart and the intention, you're
- 36:51going to stay in it and people are going to get the result
- 36:54because you're committed to it. But the mission it will, it will
- 36:58expose itself and it's and I feel like that's a much
- 37:00beautiful way than trying to force it.
- 37:02For sure, for sure. OK.
- 37:04So obviously that gives us a good clarity on vision also
- 37:07mission. But I think a big part of it,
- 37:09which I'm sure you do obviously in this work with clients is the
- 37:12values that are the underbelly of it.
- 37:14And so you kind of nodded to those obviously with some of the
- 37:16clients. But I'm curious for you, where
- 37:19do values fit into this? Because again, you know, I think
- 37:23many business owners and if you're triggered listening to
- 37:25this, that's a sign to dive deeper.
- 37:27This is an invitation, I think for people to also look at, take
- 37:30this out of the Google doc. And I think when, which is why I
- 37:33was so excited for today's conversation, leadership and
- 37:37vision and mission and values, it becomes this HRBS document
- 37:41that we never look at. That's the foundation of the
- 37:44business, but never gets integrated or embodied.
- 37:47And so I really want to kind of, I guess, make contextual for
- 37:50people when you see like determining our business values,
- 37:53what the heck does that mean in your opinion to you or with
- 37:56clients? And like how does that integrate
- 37:59into helping these clients that you work with or for yourself?
- 38:02How's it help to shape the business that they really want
- 38:06to happen? Yeah, when I think about like
- 38:09determining values and then looking at from a business
- 38:12perspective, values are like the foundation of everything that
- 38:15you do. And determining business values
- 38:19really just comes down to like identifying your non
- 38:22negotiables. To me, that's what a value is.
- 38:25This is something that is not negotiable with me.
- 38:27This is a part of who I am as a part of my being, what I do and
- 38:30how we're going to do it, how I run my business, how I make
- 38:33decisions, how I serve my clients.
- 38:35You know, what do we do? So they're not just words on the
- 38:37page. They're like, they're your
- 38:38influence, right? They're your brand positioning
- 38:41and your offers. And so when I think about how do
- 38:45I identify like what do I not compromise on?
- 38:49How do I identify the boundaries that I set like that protect my
- 38:53time or my energy. You know, some of the behaviors
- 38:57and expectations, like what are they going to be those deal
- 38:59Breakers? And what's the business
- 39:00structure that's going to allow you to thrive rather than just
- 39:03merely be here working and surviving on a day-to-day?
- 39:08An example of that might be like, I refuse to build a
- 39:11business where like my success is tied to me being exhausted or
- 39:15overworked all the time. To me, that's a value.
- 39:18I think that scaling should bring you success, not stress.
- 39:21That's like something I say all the time if you really want to
- 39:24grow, like it shouldn't be about you being more stressed and more
- 39:27worked, right? So small things like that, like
- 39:30I think about respect is a huge part.
- 39:32It's like one of my values I talk to clients about all the
- 39:35time. In order for you to have a
- 39:37business where clients and people respect you, you must
- 39:40first respect yourself, right? And so your results are going to
- 39:43follow your respect. Do you respect your boundaries?
- 39:46Do you have integrity? Do you respect the leadership
- 39:49and the influence that you have in your space?
- 39:51So that's what values and leadership looks like to me.
- 39:56OK, so I want to take a quick little brief interruption from
- 39:58today's episode to let you know about something really exciting.
- 40:01And I want to 1st preface, there is nothing here that I have to
- 40:03sell you. This is about something that is
- 40:05entirely free that I think would be a massive support for you if
- 40:09you are someone who's loving all things Ambitious podcast.
- 40:12So we have created an absolutely incredible community that is
- 40:16called the Ambitious Network. This is really a place where
- 40:19coaching and masterminds meet high level networking of other
- 40:22women who were just like you. So a little bit of what you can
- 40:25anticipate. This is a place for you to grow,
- 40:27to connect, and ultimately to get the support that you need to
- 40:29elevate your business. And so some of the things you
- 40:32can anticipate inside #1 live Hot Seat Coaching.
- 40:35This is literally live coaching in the way that I would do
- 40:37inside of our masterminds, our different offers only inside of
- 40:41this community, entirely free. You'll also get the opportunity
- 40:43to get access to exclusive giveaways that are not available
- 40:46anywhere else. So these are things like
- 40:48giveaways of different books and resources that I'm obsessed with
- 40:51that have really helped me in my journey of business, but also
- 40:55things on a larger scale, like some of which have been six
- 40:58months of private coaching type of giveaways.
- 41:00So all of this to be said, massive, massive amount of
- 41:03resources being given inside and also trainings and resources,
- 41:07tools of frameworks and downloads and worksheets and
- 41:10master classes that are going to be things that will really help
- 41:13to take you and your business to the next level.
- 41:15Now, it's also not just about me.
- 41:16I have an incredible network and a community of other
- 41:19entrepreneurs who also want to give back to you if you've loved
- 41:22their interviews and their discussions on the Ambitious
- 41:25podcast. So we have guests that are also
- 41:27providing resources in the community that will only be
- 41:30available inside the ambitious network.
- 41:32But there's also the networking aspect.
- 41:34And this is a place for you to not Only Connect with other
- 41:36women about what's going on in your business, what's currently
- 41:39working or not working in today's current market.
- 41:41It's a place to share wins, but it's also a place to connect
- 41:44with me and get my feedback and support for you and your
- 41:47business. Now all of that to be said, this
- 41:50is a, as I said, mastermind meets networking.
- 41:53And I really have created this as a community that I want to be
- 41:57something you've never gotten anywhere else.
- 41:58It's not this low ticket membership that you feel like
- 42:01you're paying for. You know, this graveyard of
- 42:03resources that the person has they don't know what to do with.
- 42:05And it's also not that Facebook group that you're inside of that
- 42:08you feel like you get tons of notifications, but you don't
- 42:10really want anything that's inside of it.
- 42:12It all feels surface level. We want to give you the ability
- 42:16to have mastermind meets high level networking all in one
- 42:18place. And the ambitious network is
- 42:20where you're going to find that. So how you can get inside?
- 42:23If you want to go to the show notes beneath, you can click a
- 42:25link to join, join us inside the ambitious network.
- 42:28And if you also want to connect with me on Instagram, I'm also
- 42:30happy to chat with you about it. So if you DM me the word
- 42:32ambitious, we'll be sure to chat a little bit more about the
- 42:35network for you and give you the link to get inside.
- 42:38So all of that to be said, I don't want to take any more time
- 42:40away from today's episode. So without further ado, let's
- 42:43get back into the show. I think for us, I very much
- 42:47agree in the sense of like really using them as the
- 42:49compass. I almost think about it.
- 42:50And again, this is not to say as you're listening to this that
- 42:53you have to be religious or faith-based in any way, but it's
- 42:56kind of similar in the essence of the principle of it to
- 42:58commandments. Like commandments don't give you
- 43:01in this situation with your neighbor, act accordingly in
- 43:03this way. It's basically saying, in
- 43:05general with human beings, we care about them by following
- 43:08these principles. And so I think about
- 43:10commandments in religion or in faith in a similar way that I do
- 43:16to values in business, because I think that the bumper lanes,
- 43:18they teach us a way of operating a, a principle to live by.
- 43:23And I think for me, I've realized that it's made a lot by
- 43:27understanding what our values were, we were able to make
- 43:30decisions quicker and easier because it wasn't about the
- 43:32decision, It was just about cross referencing it with, does
- 43:35this align with our values? Like does this align with what
- 43:37we say we want to do? And so I think especially
- 43:41because obviously both of us are kind of strategy nerds when
- 43:43people get overwhelmed with strategy, I think, you know,
- 43:46should I have, let's just say, should I do a course or should I
- 43:49do one-on-one? Should I do in person?
- 43:51One of our values is it's all about depth, not width.
- 43:54Meaning like for me, you're not going.
- 43:56Again, there's no shade to this. It's just for my business
- 43:58specifically. I'm never going to be like the
- 44:01passive queen, like you're never going to see that side to my I'm
- 44:05just not that person. Like I just, I like to get
- 44:07behind the curtain of people's businesses, pull all the pieces
- 44:10apart and put it back together. Like that's what I just nerd out
- 44:13on with myself and my team. So the idea for us, we have
- 44:16looked at it 15 times over and we're just like, it's just not
- 44:19who we are. It's just not the way that we
- 44:21can operate. And what we did, because we
- 44:23found that, you know, kind of to your point around values and
- 44:26sometimes them not being always like easily integrated, is we
- 44:31ended up switching ours actually this past year into phrases.
- 44:34And one of them how it came to be.
- 44:36But I went to an intensive of a client in person and they had
- 44:38all their their values on the wall.
- 44:40And I pulled one of the team members aside and said, hey, do
- 44:42you guys live by those? And they were like, no, I'm
- 44:45like, OK, can people riff them off?
- 44:47Like, do you guys know what they are like off the top of your
- 44:48head? She's like, no, I'm like, OK, so
- 44:51they just sit in the frame. She's like, yeah, I'm like,
- 44:53cool, so we're going to work on that.
- 44:55So then what I realized was the words were not being embodied,
- 44:59but they also weren't memorable. And so I thought, you know, one
- 45:02of the things we know in brand is like statements and even
- 45:05Scripture, anything that basically can be easily
- 45:08memorized and also has emotion connected to it will naturally
- 45:11be remembered. And so we're like, what if we
- 45:13turned our values into statements or phrases?
- 45:16And So what we ended up doing when we thought about, OK, like
- 45:18we really push people to get uncomfortable.
- 45:20So like anything that you don't want to do, we're going to ask
- 45:23you to go head on 1st into it. So one of our our quotes and our
- 45:28our business as our core value is be the bison, which is
- 45:31basically like when it starts to rain and it storms, every other
- 45:35type of animal runs in the opposite direction of the storm.
- 45:38The bison run through it in the effort to try to get through it
- 45:40as fast as possible. So our quote basically goes back
- 45:44to be the bison. So in a moment where a team
- 45:46members like I don't want to do it, this is uncomfortable for
- 45:48me. This is like, I'm scared of it.
- 45:50I'm nervous about it. We're like, Hey, be the bison
- 45:53and you're like and it's like, you know, you kind of like 321
- 45:55go. But I found that when you can
- 45:58also make them fun, you make them team created.
- 46:02You also make them revised as the business grows.
- 46:05Like the values again I had in that Google doc are not what I
- 46:08have today. I think my biggest advice for
- 46:11anyone listening is to your point, even with all the ones
- 46:15that you've mentioned, looking at how is it integrated in the
- 46:19business and also maybe checking yourself to see if you're living
- 46:22by it, because otherwise it does end up in that HR doc before you
- 46:25know it. Oh gosh, the HR doc, I feel like
- 46:27that is the best thing that I've heard today, to be honest,
- 46:31because that's exactly what it is, right?
- 46:32And so I love that you brought up the part, the part phrases
- 46:35too, because like, that's pretty much how I do them.
- 46:38Like I don't have like cute. Here's, you know, here are my
- 46:41value statements, XY and Z. It's like there are certain
- 46:44things that I say all the time between my content with clients,
- 46:47like people heard me say, act accordingly for a long time.
- 46:49It's a value. It's not just something I'm
- 46:51saying to be cute or to like get recognition.
- 46:53It's like, no, make decisions from your future self.
- 46:56That's what that means, right? And so I think when you just
- 47:01kind of piggybacking on what you were saying, when you give your
- 47:04values and a phrase or a statement, not only does it
- 47:06allow your team and for people to catch on to it, I think that
- 47:10it really allows you to embody it even more, right?
- 47:14It becomes a part of you and what you're doing and how you're
- 47:18leading people because we all have a level of influence, you
- 47:23know, in our respective industries and with our clients.
- 47:26But the most important person for you to influence yourself
- 47:29every single day, right? And so for me, it's always
- 47:33important. I tell clients, like the most
- 47:34important person you're going to lead today is going to be you.
- 47:36The most important person you're going to influence today is
- 47:39going to be you with your actions, with your thoughts,
- 47:41with the way in which you move. It's all about you.
- 47:44So I love that part about just like the values being in phrases
- 47:48because that's typically how we speak and how we think if it's
- 47:53our faith in our belief, not religious, just in general.
- 47:55Yeah, yeah. Well, I remember a quote to a
- 47:58song that I don't even want to remember, but I happen to like,
- 48:00Call Me Maybe. Why do I know all the lyrics?
- 48:02Don't know. Like it just is something you
- 48:04remember. So it also makes it integratable
- 48:06for people when it has emotion connected to it as well.
- 48:10Now I'm thinking as we've gone through this, right, we have the
- 48:13vision, we've got mission, we've got values.
- 48:17I also know as I know, you know, which is I can't wait to hear
- 48:21this side is what it means to not have this because both of us
- 48:26experience. She takes a deep breath.
- 48:28Both of us experience what so many businesses that come to us
- 48:31saying I hate my business. I, you know, want to burn it to
- 48:35the ground potentially or the quote UN quote.
- 48:37I want to pivot and often times like kind of like, you know, I
- 48:42just want to highlight what we were just saying with the
- 48:44values. If you don't have the values,
- 48:46you don't have the compass from which to make decisions, which
- 48:48then means you lead into decisions that you maybe
- 48:50shouldn't have been making, which ultimately lead to
- 48:53compound overtime, sometimes two to five years before you have
- 48:57this aha moment. Oh, it's not right for me.
- 48:59So I'm curious if you could share, like for you, what do you
- 49:02see when people don't have these things established?
- 49:06And if they haven't prioritized getting clarity on the vision,
- 49:09the mission, the values and maybe even for themselves or to
- 49:14communicate it or integrate it with a team.
- 49:16What do you see transpires within businesses and like what
- 49:19kind of ends up at your desk, if you will, when you when people
- 49:22don't have those integrated? Yeah, I call it chaos under the
- 49:26carpet. It's like, you know, it's, it's
- 49:30this, it's this nice carpet, you know, like just imagine you walk
- 49:33into a nice living space and it's there and it's beautiful.
- 49:36It's like the star of the room and you just don't know if you
- 49:40lift that bad boy up, there's a lot of chaos and trash and dirt
- 49:43things swept under it. And that's what I see often.
- 49:46It's into to contextualize that it's typically we cause chaos in
- 49:50our finances. We start spending on things that
- 49:52don't make any sense or we're over outfourcing and we're over
- 49:55investing into things, trying to, you know, patch or cover
- 49:59something up. And I start to see this
- 50:01withdrawal from the business. All of a sudden now all of the
- 50:04offers are about, you know, it's either very high ticket or
- 50:07nothing. And then you start to almost, I
- 50:10hear them even start to diminish their audiences or my audience
- 50:13doesn't want to do this and my audience isn't ready for that.
- 50:15And it's like, no, are you not ready for this?
- 50:19You're not listening? It's and, and so there's,
- 50:22there's, there's this financial chaos, there is like leadership
- 50:25chaos. And I would also say too, it
- 50:28starts to turn into it also manifests in their
- 50:31relationships. This is probably one of the the
- 50:34biggest ones that I didn't really expect to talk about
- 50:36today, but I will see women that I have that I've known or even
- 50:41sometimes looked up to, and they end up, you know, on the zoom
- 50:43with me. And these are people I know that
- 50:45have really great circles, relationships that well known in
- 50:48their streets. And all of a sudden they're like
- 50:50on this island alone. Well, I don't have this friend
- 50:53anymore and I'm not connected to these people.
- 50:55And all of a sudden they're siloed.
- 50:57And to me, that is probably one of the fastest ways to identify
- 51:02if you are on your way to being in like a chaotic situation.
- 51:07When you start losing friends for nothing, when you start
- 51:10siloing and putting yourself into these very, you want to say
- 51:14it's intimate, but it's really alone, lonely spots and places.
- 51:18It's a sign of chaos to come. That's a sucker punch right
- 51:21there. Are you really having intimate
- 51:24time and getting some solo time to pour in or you just alone?
- 51:28It's true, It's a it's a valid, it's a valid piece.
- 51:32I've seen, I've seen people who've come to me, man.
- 51:36I'm just thinking about everything you just listed and
- 51:37how many people come to mind with those symptoms who've come
- 51:42to me. The blaming of the audience.
- 51:45My audience is the problem I 1000% agree with.
- 51:48And I think this aspect of the isolation is often under the
- 51:52cloak of the fact that it's like productive.
- 51:55I'm in like a hustle season or like things like that that kind
- 51:59of allow it to be glamorized. I love the analogy of the chaos
- 52:03under the carpet because it's such a an accurate
- 52:05representation of the fact of how it looks on the outside to
- 52:08most people versus what's really going on underneath the hood.
- 52:12Yeah. And I want to do take, I want to
- 52:14take a quick second that if you resonate with the chaos under
- 52:18the carpet, I don't want you to feel bad.
- 52:19I just want you to be aware that that is not a place that you
- 52:23need to sit in and nothing good is going to come from that.
- 52:27And right now, you have made yourself believe that this is
- 52:31the only way, right? For some reason, when you get
- 52:34into those spaces, when you don't have the values and you
- 52:36don't really have a clear mission, and sometimes you just
- 52:38really don't even have any more hope or joy, you'll become
- 52:42committed to this silent loneliness in business.
- 52:46Like this is the only way I'm going to do it.
- 52:49And I want you to know that in those seasons, your
- 52:54relationships matter more than anything else.
- 52:57You can be broke with a relationship, turn a rich
- 52:59overnight, rich in money, rich and comfort rich and you know,
- 53:06like someone giving you love or just showing you grace.
- 53:09That's what I mean when I say going from growth to rich
- 53:12overnight. And so when I start to see women
- 53:13lose their relationships, we often think about the revenue
- 53:16going down. But babes, if all of a sudden
- 53:19you feel alone when you just had a bunch of people core
- 53:22relationships, there's something there and I don't want to sit
- 53:26there. Is it worth it?
- 53:30Like if you picture having a 7 figure business, but you're
- 53:33completely alone in your home and you speak to nobody, is that
- 53:36really to your point of vision? Is that really the vision?
- 53:39Like that's what we're, that's what we're doing, that's what
- 53:41we're building toward. And I think, you know, it's a
- 53:45slippery slope because I think that there's moments in business
- 53:50when we don't have those established that we kind of let
- 53:53the outside environment determine the action.
- 53:56So like, to your point of, you know, kind of ending up with
- 54:00friends going like, I think in those moments there was, you
- 54:04know, obviously the season of like, you know, it's all about
- 54:06volume, the amount of content you can get out.
- 54:08And people are like post 5 Tik Toks a day and you're like, OK,
- 54:12and that's just gonna take half my day, no big deal.
- 54:14So they go into doing that. And then you end up, for
- 54:16example, spending tons of time on marketing and like, I can't
- 54:18go to that dinner. I got a film.
- 54:20I can't go to this this commitment.
- 54:21I got a film and while you think like this is what I need to do,
- 54:26like this is sacrifice. And we're told all of these
- 54:28things around hustle culture, like this is the way.
- 54:30And you know, they don't want it as bad as you and you don't want
- 54:33to be like everybody else. There's so many deep ingrained
- 54:36narratives that can become the guiding compass if you don't
- 54:40have your own. And so then you start to kind of
- 54:43follow those. And at least that's what
- 54:45happened to me. I looked up and I thought what
- 54:47happened because it felt like I was like head in the sand almost
- 54:52like I blacked out or something. It was just, I was so deep in it
- 54:55and there was so many micro decisions not rooted in the time
- 54:59and any values that I just was OK, like next action, next
- 55:03action. But before you know it, the
- 55:04compound of how much has to be unravelled is so significant
- 55:09that when when most people build their business without values or
- 55:13mission or vision and they get to that place where it is big,
- 55:16sometimes to the tune of seven and multiple 7 figures.
- 55:19It is so overwhelmingly high pressure because you have so
- 55:25much on the line, audience, team, clients, There's so much
- 55:30that's been integrated off this flawed belief system that to
- 55:33undo it, there's a lot of domino that has to happen and it breaks
- 55:38people because they want the relief almost immediately.
- 55:44But then the domino obviously we kind of spoke, spoke to and
- 55:47nodded to earlier of collateral damage.
- 55:49There is damage to so many people involved.
- 55:52So I'm curious for you, like when someone ends up in that
- 55:54place and like, OK, I maybe I did have my head down or I felt
- 55:58like I was kind of just like doing, doing, doing and go, go,
- 56:01go. And I kind of didn't check in
- 56:03along the way to see if it met some of those markers.
- 56:07Where do they start when it comes to starting to realign?
- 56:10Like are you of the mindset of small change over time?
- 56:13Are you like, RIP the Band-Aid, live the life you want?
- 56:16Like what should people do if they feel the need for that
- 56:19change, but it feels overwhelming because their
- 56:21business has scaled based on it? Yeah.
- 56:24So I am all about, I would say smart.
- 56:27So you smart in a lot of my language.
- 56:29You know, it's not fast, it's not slow, it's just smart for
- 56:33you. There's some people who do need
- 56:35the RIP the Band-Aid off effect and you know who you are?
- 56:38You know that if you take too long, you're not going to do it
- 56:41or you're going to like your brains going to overthink,
- 56:43right? You're going to figure out all
- 56:45the ways that this won't work, right?
- 56:47And then you have some people where like fast is scary and
- 56:50it's so scary that it'll cause you to kind of go into this like
- 56:52virtual hole, if you will. And so for me, when I think
- 56:56about it with like the approach, it's just be smart with it.
- 57:01Know your financial situation, right?
- 57:03Obviously, if you scaled and you know, depending on your finances
- 57:07and and how you saved and all these other facets, you need
- 57:10context. Are you prepared to RIP the
- 57:13Band-Aid off financially? Well, if not, then let's do a
- 57:15slow and steady wins the race here.
- 57:18And if that's you identify what's most pertinent to change,
- 57:24there's always one or two. It's not 3.
- 57:27There's one or two very specific things that you can do to give
- 57:31you instant relief. So if you're looking for instant
- 57:34relief, instant relief doesn't always mean 100% of everything
- 57:37being done. Let's also say that sometimes
- 57:40you could get instant relief by just taking one of the top, I
- 57:45don't know, five things that you would love to see differently
- 57:48about your business or changed in your life and focus on them.
- 57:51And that thing can provide an insane amount of relief, right?
- 57:54I take my stuff, for example, last year at the top of the
- 57:57year, I really felt like I had gotten myself to a place to
- 58:02where I just wasn't moving intentionally enough.
- 58:05Not just working out, but just like moving my body and getting
- 58:10out of my office or my office is not at my home and I purposely
- 58:13don't work at my home because I know myself, I'll just be in
- 58:16there all the time, but I need to move.
- 58:19And so I started doing every single day I have to do a
- 58:22wealthy Wellness walk, right? So I named it and I call it's 30
- 58:25minutes at least a day and I just go for a walk wherever I
- 58:28am. Neighborhood park doesn't
- 58:30matter, right? And for me, that was important.
- 58:33And it took off this weight like I just wasn't able to be as
- 58:37creative and as innovative as I needed to be, not for my
- 58:41clients, but for myself, for my own business, for my own vision
- 58:44and mission. And so that for me, that was, it
- 58:47was a small thing because there are a lot of other things that
- 58:50changed last year. That was the start.
- 58:52Yeah, yeah, it was the starting place.
- 58:55And so that's how I would approach it.
- 58:58It's he's smart about what you need to do.
- 59:01Do you need to RIP off the Band-Aid and can you handle
- 59:03that? Are you at that place or is it
- 59:06AI need a slow and steady no matter what they are?
- 59:09Identify the one to two primary things that you know could
- 59:12provide you immediate relief and start moving from there.
- 59:16Yeah, I remember saying to a a mentor that I just at a time in
- 59:20my business, I was like, everything just feels hard.
- 59:22Like everything I go to do right now just feels like hard.
- 59:26And I remember the question he asked me.
- 59:27He said, well, what if it could be easy?
- 59:29What would that look like? And I was like, first of all,
- 59:32shut up, second of all. And then I went into thinking
- 59:34about what would that look like? And when I started to think,
- 59:38what would it look like if it was easy?
- 59:40To your point of the one to two things, they're like, why I just
- 59:42wouldn't want to do X anymore. And he's like, OK, great, done
- 59:46make that change. And it was something that I
- 59:49think we're so to the point of that self created prison, We're
- 59:52so in this box of how it's always been or we've always
- 59:56operated this way or we've always marketed this way or run
- 59:58the day this way that we don't really consider another
- 1:00:01alternative. And for me, it was simple things
- 1:00:03when I was feeling like pushed at all sides, I realized that my
- 1:00:07work had started to kind of like slowly seep into weekends.
- 1:00:10And so I would just like quick little thing on the Saturday,
- 1:00:12but then I end up being 4 hours and then quick thing on the
- 1:00:14Sunday morning that was 3 hours. And I was like working on the
- 1:00:18weekends, it feels like I get no mental break at all from the
- 1:00:21conversations and the kind of like being in tune with work.
- 1:00:24So that was a change. And I think the other thing too
- 1:00:27was this aspect of like I felt sometimes like when I was
- 1:00:31having, for example, one-on-one calls in any of the buckets
- 1:00:34where we offer it, it felt repetitive.
- 1:00:36I was like, I feel like I'm having the same conversation
- 1:00:38over and over and over again. Like it just feels like even
- 1:00:41though I have what I deem to be a scalable business, why do I
- 1:00:45feel like I'm having the same, like it's like the Truman Show
- 1:00:47every day. And when I started to really
- 1:00:50lean into restructuring how we did the programs and the framing
- 1:00:54and the onboarding of how to use each of the resources, my slack
- 1:00:57time that I spent in there was like basically chopped 2/3 of it
- 1:01:01out and resources completely removed all of that issue of the
- 1:01:05ongoing conversations we were having.
- 1:01:07But you sometimes are so in the weeds and the routine, to be
- 1:01:12honest of how it's always been done, that unless you sometimes
- 1:01:16have either, in my opinion, a very stern mentor who gives you
- 1:01:21a good check that kind of puts you back into line like
- 1:01:24yourself. Unless you have somebody to do
- 1:01:26that for you or you have a situation that does it for you.
- 1:01:30Sometimes you don't pop up enough to even have that
- 1:01:32evaluation, which is why I think even some of the things you're
- 1:01:35talking about today are a good almost like self-assessment for
- 1:01:38people to say, hey, am I in tune here?
- 1:01:41And like, is my business checking these boxes that I say
- 1:01:45matter to me? So I'm curious, like, do you
- 1:01:48have questions people should ask or things that they could
- 1:01:50consider that would almost be, in your opinion, like the way
- 1:01:54that they might self assess to say like, OK, you're in flow of
- 1:01:57business right now. You're in routine, you're in
- 1:01:59your schedule. This is going to be your tamasha
- 1:02:02pulse check to see if you're on track.
- 1:02:04And if not, it means we have an opportunity of work to do.
- 1:02:08Yeah, I would say it's like a value in the business and
- 1:02:12something I constantly tell clients to do because I like for
- 1:02:15self-assessment to be easy. So I want you to think of us
- 1:02:17having a conversation on your own and it needs to just be a
- 1:02:20very straightforward statement. And here's what I tell clients.
- 1:02:24You decide or you drown. So the area that we're looking
- 1:02:29at, you ask yourself like, am I drowning here?
- 1:02:34If you say yes, make a decision, take decisive action, don't wait
- 1:02:40for the perfect moment. Don't overthink it.
- 1:02:41Like you said earlier, you were like, how could business be
- 1:02:44easier? OK, just do that, right?
- 1:02:47So when you look at the areas of your business, whether it's in
- 1:02:49your finances, it's in your programming, it's your offer
- 1:02:52structure, is your schedule, is your time off, it is, you know,
- 1:02:55you're the number of people on your team, whatever that is.
- 1:02:58You look at those areas and when it comes to your finances in the
- 1:03:01business and how things are going, do you feel like you're
- 1:03:03drowning? Yes or no?
- 1:03:05Yes. OK, well let's make some
- 1:03:07decisions with the come see your team and the number of people
- 1:03:10that are on it or how they're working their, their
- 1:03:12performance, their productivity. Are you happy with it?
- 1:03:15Are they above board? Do you feel like they're
- 1:03:18drowning? Do you feel like the business is
- 1:03:19drowning in this area? Yes or no?
- 1:03:21So it's always a decide don't drown.
- 1:03:25That's as simple as I make it. When you look at that area, you
- 1:03:29look at that specific topic, do you feel like you're drowning in
- 1:03:32those areas are so easy to call out?
- 1:03:35And so instead of you trying to turn this into some like very
- 1:03:37elaborate assessment and I want to ask you 10 questions.
- 1:03:41Yeah. It's very simple.
- 1:03:42Where do you feel like you're drowning?
- 1:03:45You know that. You know what's an example of
- 1:03:48that? Maybe I'm thinking in the sense
- 1:03:49of the one I hear the most, in the sense of like the trigger
- 1:03:52that goes off the most is in offers.
- 1:03:54Oh yeah, I would say drowning in offers is normally I would say
- 1:04:00it's like the root. And if it's not just the offers,
- 1:04:02it's the structure of the business, right?
- 1:04:04And so when you think about like an offer, I've seen people, I
- 1:04:08know we've seen over the last few years where like people had
- 1:04:10built these, these programs, these like, especially we think
- 1:04:13about the masterminds that were just so full of things.
- 1:04:18I mean, we got 10 coaches inside of here.
- 1:04:20They're coaching on like, I'm supposed to be coming here to
- 1:04:23learn about just like how to sell.
- 1:04:25I got ads in here, I got branding in here.
- 1:04:27I got a website person, an SEO person, XY and Z not in the
- 1:04:30leader, not thinking like, oh, great, this is it's going to be
- 1:04:33a one stop shop. But also you've turned yourself
- 1:04:37into a one stop shop with 10 different coaches that you now
- 1:04:43have to lead and train and be responsible for full right.
- 1:04:49And so that's an example of what that looks like when you say
- 1:04:52like, oh, in in your in your offer, Does your offer just feel
- 1:04:55like it's suffocating you for you to scale with the way that
- 1:04:59you did it? Do you feel suffocated?
- 1:05:01It's like, yeah, more money, more clients, but more stress.
- 1:05:05Yeah. And also, do you want more
- 1:05:06clients? Well, and and man, like don't
- 1:05:11even get me started on that. Let's go.
- 1:05:13You know, for me, I love a concierge modeled coaching
- 1:05:20business. I have other desires outside of
- 1:05:25coaching, right specifically and I was very honest about that and
- 1:05:30upfront with myself. I also never saw myself being
- 1:05:33ACEO. So the fact that I am ACEO of
- 1:05:35this business is also different. This is probably the only one
- 1:05:38that I'd ever want to be a full time CEO of to be honest with
- 1:05:41you. And so knowing that about
- 1:05:43myself, I'm really clear. I don't desire to have 100
- 1:05:46people inside of a program. I just don't.
- 1:05:49And it's just not like my way. And so I remember the times
- 1:05:53where I tried those things in the past because that's what
- 1:05:56someone suggested to me. And it was the most miserable
- 1:05:58season of business. People were still getting
- 1:06:01results. And I think this is also a good
- 1:06:03point for us to make. Your clients can be happy and
- 1:06:06getting results, and you can be miserable, and that is not OK.
- 1:06:09Yeah, let's, like, please get that.
- 1:06:13That's not OK. Right.
- 1:06:16The goal is to be rich from your results.
- 1:06:20Yeah. Not rushed, not feeling like you
- 1:06:24just you don't have anything left to give.
- 1:06:26And so that's that's what I mean by by looking at it from that
- 1:06:29perspective. I think that's the aspect to the
- 1:06:33to the more clients thing. I'm so happy that you said that
- 1:06:37because I think there is a narrative in business that more
- 1:06:40is better and there is this belief that the vision is always
- 1:06:45you need to have tons of clients, tons of money, tons of
- 1:06:49offers, lots of marketing. It's always more.
- 1:06:52There's always more to do, more to be, more to have.
- 1:06:56And even for me, and I've talked about this a couple times on
- 1:07:00here, but I when I was going into business coaching, the
- 1:07:03cardinal sin of business coaching was one-on-one you're.
- 1:07:06Training. Time for money and I'm like oh
- 1:07:09shoot can't do that so I was like OK, great masterminds and
- 1:07:12do I need a course and should I do this and should I do that and
- 1:07:16I tried to think of all these things that I could do and like
- 1:07:18you have to remove yourself you can't be in the weeds with your
- 1:07:21clients that's like a very delegatable task you shouldn't
- 1:07:24be doing it use. Everything.
- 1:07:25Oh, my gosh. And so I had all this messaging
- 1:07:28of like, it's the wrong way. As a business coach.
- 1:07:30I felt so much shame around it because I loved it and
- 1:07:35everyone's like, you can't have one-on-one clients.
- 1:07:37And again, back to vision. When I started to look at I, I
- 1:07:40went to a conference and I realized in that moment, I
- 1:07:42really didn't like the way my business was growing and
- 1:07:44scaling, even though to your point, it was getting great
- 1:07:47results. So I remember kind of sitting
- 1:07:51with someone and talking through it and I was like, I just like
- 1:07:53like VIP days where I sit down and I'm like in the weeds of
- 1:07:56their business. Or I like to like meet their
- 1:07:58team and get like a real assessment of how the CEO is
- 1:08:01actually operating and then work with the team and the individual
- 1:08:03and like bring them together and all of it.
- 1:08:07I couldn't see without doing one-on-one work.
- 1:08:11So to have it be, oh, that's not the right way.
- 1:08:14I also wanted to ask cuz I'm, I'm sure you have an opinion on
- 1:08:18this, around this idea of the right way.
- 1:08:19And we talked about today values and vision.
- 1:08:22And I think especially as business consultants, people
- 1:08:25feel this this kind of contradicting energy because
- 1:08:28people feel like you're telling me to do it my way.
- 1:08:32But if you're saying do it my way, then why do I hire you if
- 1:08:35you're going to teach me your ways?
- 1:08:37So like where that balance is between it and for you to know,
- 1:08:41I'm definitely very anti blueprint.
- 1:08:42Like I don't believe that there's one way of doing
- 1:08:44business and anyone who sells it is just to be transparent and
- 1:08:47direct, lazy and wanting to make easy money.
- 1:08:50So I think on that note, what do you see as a way for someone to
- 1:08:57kind of take all of this and to put a bow on it to be able to
- 1:09:01integrate this in a way that feels good for them, all the
- 1:09:04while having business success? Because I think sometimes when
- 1:09:07we're in this place of like deeply desiring, someone give me
- 1:09:10an answer. Somebody tell me the aha moment
- 1:09:13I need to know or the strategy to do or the offer I need to
- 1:09:15have. And then maybe you're coming in
- 1:09:18and you're like, I don't know my vision, I don't know my values.
- 1:09:20It can kind of feel like you're like castaway floating about and
- 1:09:23you're trying to figure out how do I get to shore here?
- 1:09:26What do you recommend for someone who kind of feels like
- 1:09:29they are trying to figure out how to succeed, but yet don't
- 1:09:32know how to do so? Unless they take someone else's
- 1:09:35insight, but that might mean they're ignoring their own.
- 1:09:38You know, I think that there is. This is such a good question by
- 1:09:42the way, because there is a difference between you testing
- 1:09:48and trialing and totally duplicating something.
- 1:09:53And I want people to give themselves permission to test as
- 1:09:57much as possible, trial as much as possible.
- 1:10:00Right. When I said earlier, I mentioned
- 1:10:01that I tried, I tried going after the, the really bigger
- 1:10:04group coaching programs where I had a lot of people in them and
- 1:10:07a lot of people in offer an XYZ and I just found that I didn't
- 1:10:11enjoy it. But I, if I had not tried, it
- 1:10:13would be in the back of my head of, well, I could have been
- 1:10:15successful had I done XY and Z Business could look different
- 1:10:18for me had I not tried it. And so I'm all for testing and
- 1:10:21go into the testing with an open mind and write down the things
- 1:10:26that you don't like, right? Like when I think about this
- 1:10:29business is very much the journey of business and finding
- 1:10:32your way. It's like buying a house.
- 1:10:34Everyone knows what they want, but very few people have a list
- 1:10:39of what their non negotiables are when they walk in.
- 1:10:41I love the countertops and I love the spacious room.
- 1:10:43And look at the open concept kitchen.
- 1:10:46Yeah, but is that the neighborhood that you wanted in?
- 1:10:49Does it have the backyard that you were looking for?
- 1:10:53Right. Like, is the tile exactly what
- 1:10:55you were thinking? Does it have the number of
- 1:10:57bathrooms? Like thinking about those
- 1:10:59things, where is the master bedroom?
- 1:11:01Is it with all the other rooms? Or is it all right, like those
- 1:11:04small things where it's like you could get distracted by the
- 1:11:07countertops, right? Like I saw people get distracted
- 1:11:10by all the talk about group is the only way to scale and people
- 1:11:13get distracted by the only way that you're going to be able to
- 1:11:15build a luxury business by having luxury branding, right?
- 1:11:18Or like whatever that is, be open to testing, but keep notes
- 1:11:24of what you absolutely don't enjoy, what doesn't, what, what
- 1:11:28makes you feel suffocated, what makes you feel tight and what
- 1:11:32makes you feel burnt out, right? And then also be really clear
- 1:11:36about what brought you joy. Highlight those things.
- 1:11:40And from there, you can start to when you have that catalog and
- 1:11:44that list of those things, you can utilize those as data to
- 1:11:47build something that really aligns with who you are.
- 1:11:52But you got to 1st, not only know what you want, you got to
- 1:11:55know what you don't want. And that's often the missing
- 1:11:58piece. And the only way you're going to
- 1:12:00know what you don't want is by testing and trialing.
- 1:12:03And I think also that criteria that you just noted, I think
- 1:12:07just to also share with everyone is also a great way to pick a
- 1:12:10mentor because for me, like a non negotiable for someone that
- 1:12:14I work with is like, you have to be heart centered.
- 1:12:16I don't need you to be woo woo. Like I got no shade to it, but I
- 1:12:20don't need you to be super on the other side of the spectrum.
- 1:12:23But I do need you to like just be.
- 1:12:25And I feel core in my heart, You're a good human.
- 1:12:28You really care. You want to add value, you want
- 1:12:31to help people. It's not about the number.
- 1:12:34And again, even with people who have big numbers, like if I
- 1:12:37hired someone who's doing 10 million a year, that's amazing.
- 1:12:40And I want to feel like you really care about people.
- 1:12:44And so I think when someone's hiring a mentor, also asking
- 1:12:48those questions, which is like, what are those non negotiable
- 1:12:51values, which is why those values are so important.
- 1:12:54What are the non negotiable values almost in a way that you
- 1:12:57hire a team member that you could use for a mentor?
- 1:13:00Because I've also found that when you know and listen, all of
- 1:13:05us consume marketing, I'm just as easily like intrigued as the
- 1:13:08next person who's called on social media.
- 1:13:09I'm like, that's a big number how they do that.
- 1:13:12All of us are intrigued. But I also, when I put it
- 1:13:14through the compass of values. That's why often at times, if
- 1:13:17I'm going to be really honest, it's been hard for me to find a
- 1:13:20coach because I've, I've had maybe like a handful, like under
- 1:13:245 in my entire career. And I've been with many of them
- 1:13:28for a long time. And that's because if I go, I
- 1:13:31haven't found anywhere else to go because when I cross
- 1:13:35reference it with the values that I care about, they don't
- 1:13:37embody it. To your earlier point, starting
- 1:13:39today. And I also see it with mentors
- 1:13:43who talk about it but don't do it.
- 1:13:45I really care about people and it's really about serving
- 1:13:48people. Oh, but also like, if you're not
- 1:13:49ready to pay in full, don't waste my time.
- 1:13:52And I'm like, wait a second, what's happening here?
- 1:13:54So like, it's that assessment. I I just want to echo for anyone
- 1:13:58who just listened to what Tamasha said, it's really
- 1:14:00important too to cross reference that not only for your business
- 1:14:03strategy, but also for the person who's providing it to
- 1:14:05you. Because if you go and you get
- 1:14:06insight from the person who also doesn't align with the values
- 1:14:09that you have, do not be shocked when you're 30 to 60 days inside
- 1:14:13of that commitment, whatever container it is.
- 1:14:16And you're like, this kind of feels like it's a little bit
- 1:14:18gross. Yeah, because you were so again,
- 1:14:21similar to the way you might be looking at your business, so
- 1:14:24pulled by the numbers, they're making this much money or they
- 1:14:26have this many clients and you're like, that's what I want
- 1:14:29to have. If you don't have other
- 1:14:31understanding or underbelly of the reason you build your
- 1:14:34business, you also hire people based off that.
- 1:14:36So I just wanted to add that because I think it's such a
- 1:14:40critical aspect to not make the mistake of making massive
- 1:14:44impactful investments. I I think you hit a dead on
- 1:14:47because in the beginning of my journey, you know, obviously I
- 1:14:50came from corporate and so corporate I was dealing with
- 1:14:53millions like managing hundreds of millions of dollars in annual
- 1:14:58budgets across, you know, 3 to 5 cost centers at a time.
- 1:15:01And so me dealing with numbers was nothing like I was used to
- 1:15:04it. But coming here into the space,
- 1:15:06it was like if you hadn't made this amount of money, you
- 1:15:09weren't sharing the screenshots, people wouldn't take you
- 1:15:11seriously. And to your point, yes, to find
- 1:15:14a mentor. But I also say for those of you
- 1:15:16that are looking for clients, be mindful of those clients as
- 1:15:18well, right? Like I'm yes.
- 1:15:21And I'm very clear that I do not want to work with people who are
- 1:15:25driven strictly by certain things.
- 1:15:27So there's certain stuff I don't do in my marketing.
- 1:15:28I don't share screenshots in my income in my marketing.
- 1:15:31I don't even talk about how much money I make in my marketing.
- 1:15:33Does that make it tougher for me?
- 1:15:34Absolutely. I'm always honest about that.
- 1:15:36It makes it harder. Yeah.
- 1:15:38I don't talk about those things. However, I rarely get a client
- 1:15:42that is out of alignment. I rarely get a client that is
- 1:15:45not happy with me. And before I even made six
- 1:15:47figures, I was helping people make 7, right?
- 1:15:51And, and so and I say this stuff out loud for the people who
- 1:15:54maybe are on that journey, right to those to their first multiple
- 1:15:576-7 figures or wherever that number is for you.
- 1:16:01Be mindful as well about the clients that you're attracting
- 1:16:05by what you are doing and what you're embodying.
- 1:16:08Don't be shocked when you get the clients who are hard pressed
- 1:16:12and only worried about revenue when all you did was sell to
- 1:16:14them using it right A. 100%. Because all of a sudden you want
- 1:16:19to be humanized when they don't reach their results.
- 1:16:22But all you never humanized yourself, right?
- 1:16:25I see it all the time. People are like, it's so crazy.
- 1:16:29People want to just get these results effortlessly, I said.
- 1:16:32Here's a video from your social media saying the results are
- 1:16:36basically effortless once you have our strategy.
- 1:16:39And I was like, and now she's using the word back on you.
- 1:16:42Shocker, right? Like it's not this is your
- 1:16:45training. The people you literally in your
- 1:16:48embodiment are deciding who is a magnet for your message.
- 1:16:52So there's so many areas I think, you know, today,
- 1:16:55obviously talking about getting clarity of those aspects, but
- 1:16:58also how that impacts who you hire on your team.
- 1:17:00It impacts who you hire and not having clarity of this in hiring
- 1:17:04a mentor. It attracts the kind of clients
- 1:17:06you're going to have. And it also just designs the
- 1:17:08kind of business you're going to end up with and also impacts the
- 1:17:12life you're going to have. Because at the root of this,
- 1:17:14it's really about to Tamasha's point earlier, I love that word.
- 1:17:18It's about clarity. And it's about having the
- 1:17:21clarity of the pieces that matter so that the domino and
- 1:17:24all these other areas can be shaped from that.
- 1:17:27Because also on the other side, if you lack that clarity, it
- 1:17:30dominoes into all those in a negative way.
- 1:17:32So, so good. Like genuine Tamasha master
- 1:17:36class. Now you guys know I'm obsessed
- 1:17:37with her lives. OK?
- 1:17:38Like just so good Tamasha. We ask every single guest who
- 1:17:42comes on and I'll give you a minute to kind of think of
- 1:17:44something that comes through for you.
- 1:17:45And we ask for a nugget of wisdom.
- 1:17:47And it doesn't have to be about our topic today of leadership
- 1:17:50and of values and vision. It doesn't need to be in this
- 1:17:53bucket. But just obviously, you are a
- 1:17:56very successful female CEO. You've been in business for
- 1:17:59years. You've worked with a lot of
- 1:18:00different business owners. And I'm curious if there's a
- 1:18:02nugget, a phrase, a lesson, a situation that you feel kind of
- 1:18:07has shaped your perspective of why you feel you've been able to
- 1:18:11be successful or why you feel that you've been able to help
- 1:18:14other people to see success as well.
- 1:18:16Oh, this is good. I feel like so many things, just
- 1:18:20like I'd say move like you deserve it because you do.
- 1:18:25That's something that I say to myself almost daily.
- 1:18:29And it's a reminder for me that, you know, in everything that
- 1:18:32we're doing, whether it's me working on my business or
- 1:18:34working with clients or, you know, maybe, you know, applying
- 1:18:37or, you know, going after different opportunities.
- 1:18:40I'm not waiting for permission. You're not waiting for
- 1:18:43permission, right? You're not playing small.
- 1:18:47Act like the CEO that you are, act like the woman that you are
- 1:18:53and really shift yourself out of this becoming mindset.
- 1:18:59Yes, we're becoming something every single day, but today be
- 1:19:03who it is that you know you need to be.
- 1:19:05That's my nugget for you all. No more becoming, being.
- 1:19:10I have one quick question as a follow up to that because I
- 1:19:12already know the kind of audience member that I have.
- 1:19:15What if you don't believe it? If you don't believe it.
- 1:19:20Yet I should add comma yet. If you don't believe it yet, do
- 1:19:27it anyway. One thing that I tell clients
- 1:19:31every single time that we talk about belief is that it doesn't
- 1:19:35need to make sense to make success Too often.
- 1:19:39We want things to make sense, and on your journey of becoming
- 1:19:45and growing into something bigger, you're going to have a
- 1:19:48lot that you don't understand that you've never encountered
- 1:19:50before. What we do here in business to
- 1:19:54say that we are online and we're able to impact through these
- 1:19:57screens and we're impacting through a podcast right now
- 1:20:00merely with people hearing our voices and not being in a room
- 1:20:02with us. That doesn't make logical sense
- 1:20:06to most people, but it does make change, it does cost shifts, and
- 1:20:11it does bring us success. And so stop waiting for
- 1:20:14something to make sense for you to believe it.
- 1:20:17Just decide to believe it. I feel like the only thing I, I
- 1:20:21would just to add to what she said is to basically act without
- 1:20:24evidence. And I, I love that because I
- 1:20:28feel like there's an aspect of early entrepreneurship.
- 1:20:31You're kind of crazy. You've got no evidence to do
- 1:20:33what you're doing in the sense of like for you or for me or for
- 1:20:36anybody, you're kind of just going in blind.
- 1:20:39And there's this deep trust. I think less in the identity of
- 1:20:44like, I'm going to be this person or make this much money.
- 1:20:46There's not as much confidence in that because we just don't
- 1:20:48know. We don't have the evidence to
- 1:20:49say. But I think there's this aspect
- 1:20:52of like trusting yourself and leaning into the trust of who
- 1:20:56you are, which is it's so perfectly connected to today's
- 1:20:59message because I think when you know who you are, what you want,
- 1:21:03what you stand for and not really it's the core of
- 1:21:05everything you decide to do, your life will basically be
- 1:21:09shaped around that. So it's beautiful, it's
- 1:21:11beautiful. I love it, I love it.
- 1:21:13All right, Tamasha, if somebody want like obviously you guys
- 1:21:15understand why I'm obsessed with her content and just hearing her
- 1:21:17speak in general. If someone wants to also Co
- 1:21:21watch your lives with me or consume any of your other stuff,
- 1:21:24where is the best place for them to connect with you and to reach
- 1:21:26out? Yeah, so the best place for you
- 1:21:28to connect with me is going to be on Instagram.
- 1:21:30That is my home. I love it there.
- 1:21:32In terms of social platforms, obviously you can always go to
- 1:21:35my website, watchsuper.com and hang out with me on my e-mail
- 1:21:38list. But Instagram is the place to
- 1:21:40be. It's a party over there.
- 1:21:41It is a party, honestly, please go.
- 1:21:44Like please go watch her live. It's like genuinely, I'll be
- 1:21:46doing makeup or like making food prep and I'll just watch her go
- 1:21:49and it's the best thing. It's so good.
- 1:21:51It's like a private podcast basically with Tamasha.
- 1:21:54All of that to say, Tamasha, thank you so much for coming on.
- 1:21:56This was so good. This was genuinely a master
- 1:21:58class in all things like personal and also team and
- 1:22:01business leadership. It was so good.
- 1:22:02Thank you so much for having me. I'm super excited and I know
- 1:22:05that the ambitious people are going to love it.
- 1:22:07For sure, for sure. She's got all the notes now and
- 1:22:09now she's to go do. And so I would say the other
- 1:22:13thing, which also was a quote that one of our past guest
- 1:22:15George had mentioned, which was not letting things be shelf help
- 1:22:18and basically allowing today to just be something that was like,
- 1:22:22wow, that was really insightful. And then ending this episode and
- 1:22:24letting it stay here. So I want to encourage, you
- 1:22:27know, the things that Tamasha shared today.
- 1:22:29These are things that people spend some big bucks to work
- 1:22:32with her to do. And you got a nugget and the
- 1:22:35surface of some of the things that you would get inside of
- 1:22:38obviously coaching. And so use that as a stepping
- 1:22:40stone toward getting a little bit of momentum, maybe outline
- 1:22:43what is my mission, getting clarity of your vision for your
- 1:22:45business and life, outlining your values.
- 1:22:48I want to invite you to take some action on this today.
- 1:22:51And maybe even honestly, which both of us love, slide into our
- 1:22:54DM, send Tamasha a message and say, you know, maybe this was
- 1:22:57the aspect that downloaded for you.
- 1:22:59Maybe you had an aha moment around vision or around mission.
- 1:23:03And any of those insights are always good.
- 1:23:05We always talk about being witnessed in transformation on
- 1:23:07every episode. And so if you're having an aha
- 1:23:10moment, the best thing you can do is be witnessed in it.
- 1:23:12So go be witnessed by messaging Tamasha or myself.
- 1:23:15We'd love to hear from you and kind of hear what downloaded for
- 1:23:18you. With all of that being said, we
- 1:23:20will see you next week and as always, stay ambitious.
