- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Journey Out of the Bottle, the podcast that's challenging outdated narratives and opening up modern conversations around alcohol and addiction.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Melissa Leera.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: And whether you're sober curious, alcohol-free, or somewhere in the gray area, you're in the right place.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: It is my hope that something you hear will inspire you, comfort you, and remind you that you are not broken anymore.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: A toast to an epic voyage toward your journey out of the bottle.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Cheers.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Words are spells.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: When we speak something out loud, and especially with others as a witness, they become context, they become contextualized spells of our lives.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: And so we hear this in the manifesting world of, you know, be positive, speak positive affirmations, speak speak words of prosperity and abundance.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: But on the flip side, when you use words like, I am powerless, I am broken, I am defected, I am flawed.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: And you have to say them daily in order to fit in a certain club, in order to succeed, in order to be healthy, those are also spells.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: And they sink in and they sink in deep.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: So it's a contradictory method of becoming whole and to become like your highest self.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: If you're giving away your agency to a higher power, then you can't be the highest power in your life.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: And if you're admitting and saying, I am powerless over and over and over and over again, you might make progress.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: You might get through your steps and go and you know and continue to elevate, but think about how much faster or quicker or more lovingly, more joyfully, more efficiently.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: You could be the highest potential of your life by saying, I am powerful.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: I am powerful.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: I can do this.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: I can do this.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna make a choice.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: I become dependent upon a substance that is known to be toxic and poisonous.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: There's volumes and volumes and volumes of data to support.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: The medical community knows this, the psychiatric community knows this, the government knows this, the manufacturers know this.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Everyone knows that this substance is highly addictive, that it causes severe trauma and uh and malfunctioning of the body, but yet we're made to believe that if we become dependent upon it, that it's somehow like, oh, well, now you gotta admit that you're an addict, you gotta admit that you're broken, and you gotta admit that you're powerless, and you gotta call yourself this name, this label, this blame, this shame.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: You have to make amends, you have to.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: I mean, when we are constantly speaking from this lower than state, that sinks in.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: It's contagious, it's a ripple effect.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: You can do this, you can absolutely do this.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: It's a mindset shift, it's a reframing, it's a placebo effect.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Like, oh crap, I've been putting some poison into my body for an amount of time, and now I'm not funding at my optimal performance.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: My synapses aren't firing to their fullest.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: My wits are not about me.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: I am a bit disabled, perhaps, from this substance being put into my body.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: It's just as if you were eating junk food, crappy food on a daily basis.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: If you are put the wrong kind of fuel in your gas tank, your car's not gonna run correctly.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Might even get a little bit ruined.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Okay, speak spells to yourself.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Speak the speak the truth to yourself.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: I am powerful.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: I am a powerful being.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna make some choices.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna make some choices that you know my body is probably gonna fight against for a minute.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Because it's been hijacked.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: The neurochemistry, the nervous system, my your gut, your brain, your body, mind, and soul has been hijacked for a little bit.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: So take it back.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Take back control.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: You have the power.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: All right, cheers.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: This is Melissa with Journey Out of the Bottle.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: This is a flipped narrative, bringing awareness to the myths, the stigmas, the untold truths about alcohol and addiction.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: You don't have to live a life of hanging on by your white knuckles.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: You don't have to admit every day about how wrong you were.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: And making amends is done through showing up differently, first and foremost, to yourself.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: I mean, when you get on an airplane and they tell you to put your air mask on first, that's because you need to save yourself first.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: This isn't about narcissism, this isn't about being selfish, this is about, oh my god, I gotta take care of myself.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: I gotta take care of myself.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: I gotta give myself love, appreciation.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: I have to build up a trust with myself.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: And then your nervous system starts to re-fire, recalibrate, the synapses start to connect and rewire.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: You show up differently, you start sleeping better, you start feeling better, and that cannot help, but inevitably showing up in your life, and that's how you make amends.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: You make amends to yourself first, you get yourself in an amazing healthy space, and you can do it.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: You can do it, and I'm not saying that life is easy, it's not like a magic button, but you sure as shit can face life much better with all your wits about you.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: When you are firing on all cylinders, this is inevitable.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: It's inevitable to be in a much better, healthier, happier state.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: It's a hundred percent guaranteed that if you stop drinking alcohol, you choose to quit, you make some serious mindset shifts, reframe, we work together if you need.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: I am here.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: I work one-on-one.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: Plus, I have the podcast and we do happier hours.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: But I'm here if you want some specific help in supporting you, cheerleading you, inspiring you, but you have to be ready.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Like, all right, I'm doing this.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: And it doesn't have to be like some long, drawn-out struggle, hard, like painstaking years of recovery and recalibration.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's really kind of up to you how long this takes.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: First couple days might suck.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: I just gave up coffee a few days ago.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: Uh, actually, a few weeks.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Almost a month ago.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: And first couple days sucked.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: It sucked.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Because my body, my brain was like, wait a minute, where is the stuff that was in here that was keeping us in this one state of mind, one state of energy, one state of being, and now it's gone?
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Like, I I gotta now start produce the things that I stopped producing because of this substance that was in here.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: And the same as with alcohol.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: Your GABA, your glutamate is out of whack.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: The dopamine system will need to be recalibrated.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: But this is all doable.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: You would be shocked, and if you want to know, I have the information of how quickly and well your brain re like rebuilds itself.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Your nervous system will rebuild itself, your body will come back, your sleep will come back, your anxiety will drop, like, drop significantly.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: You don't need a bunch of pills, you don't need to be like freaking the fuck out.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Alcohol promises to take away the anxiety, the stress, get you really chilled out, socially lubricated, sexy, smarter.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: I mean, and sometimes you feel that way for a little while.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: And then it's like, shit, well, now I I don't feel it as much as I used to.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: Maybe I need more, now I need more.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: And the little hair of the dog starts to become a real thing.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: And that is not because you're weak, it's not because you're an addict, it's because your body has become dependent on it, and the tolerance, the tolerance raises.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: Your tolerance becomes like your body is working perfectly.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: It's responding to the substance because it it stops making certain things and starts overproducing other things to try to keep in balance.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: It's like a DJ deck.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: It's like tweaking the base, lowering it, raising it, going down.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, now the alcohol's going out of the system or withdrawing.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: That's a withdraw.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: And now we gotta start making more.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's just it's a constant state of flux, and so that's why the stress and the anxiety become so much more prominent, is because your body is busy trying to keep up.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: It's trying to keep up, it's out of whack.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Who here has the wake up at the same time every night?
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: Like mine was for about 420, ironically.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Um wake up with the racy brain, and like, oh my god, oh my god, I'm not gonna drink today.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna drink today.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Like, that's the subconscious, like that first wake up.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: It was my soul screaming at me, like, wake up.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: And it did, it woke me up.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Wake up.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: So this is your wake-up call.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: Wake up, wake up to the fact that, like, okay, I'm gonna, I've been thinking about this for a while, and now I'm going to take agency.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: I can do this, I can do this.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Journey out of the bottle.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: This is a community.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: I can come knock on my door.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: I'm ready for you.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: Wake up.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: It's like get this shit out of your system.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: Imagine like just swiping it aside, like, whew, done with that.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Now what?
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: Now, this is when life really begins.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: It really is like, oh, wise up.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Let's like wise up to what is going on around us because you've been comfortably numb.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Whether you have one drink a week or one drink a night or an entire bottle or two, like I I was up to like two bottles.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: Or or I started going to the bag, so I could really not tell how much was going on.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: You know, it's it it takes a minute.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: So wise up when you wise up to what is going on within your body and what is going on around you, when you realize that you have been in a twilight slumber or a fever dream, missing life, because this product, this product that is beautifully marketed, put in pretty packaging, promises.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: Like, ah, it's a good time.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: You could still have a real good time, I promise you, and you're gonna wake up feeling amazing.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: Wake up, wake up to being comfortably numb.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: The fever dream, the twilight slumber.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: When you come out of that, it is bliss.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: And then the rise up.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: The rising up, like that is the making amends, showing up differently, getting connected to God, source, universe, unity consciousness, community, your friends, your family, like connection.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: The rising up is rising up to your highest potential.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: And this doesn't mean that you like have to like, you know, now all of a sudden be in hustle mode and you know, like getting after life.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: It's like rising up to like above, above the twilight slumber.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: You're now awake and you'll you're gonna feel alive and alert and enthusiastic about life.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: And listen, life is not easy.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: It's not easy here on this planet.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: And if you're spiritual, you know that like you may maybe you know that you chose to come here and play this game.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: And we get caught up in like a lot of uh product out there, a lot of products and services and yummy goodness that is sold to us because it makes a lot of money for a lot of people.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: And people come up with an idea and they're like, hey, this makes people feel good.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: And when people feel good, they will spend money to buy more, to buy more.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: So listen, you're not broken because you got caught up in a product that promises a lot of potential.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: So now you've got more money in your pocket, you're sleeping better, you're feeling better, and the inevitability of you rising up is it's a it's a guarantee.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: It's a guarantee.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: Okay, welcome to Journey Out of the Bottle.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: If you like what you hear and you want this uh program to be amplified to others in your life, the best way to amplify this is through the silly algorithms because I have to have people share and do the liking and do the clapping and thumbs up and blah blah blah blah blah.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, really, if you want to talk with me, shoot me a text.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: I've got connections all over the place.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Texting, setting up a 20-minute conversation, uh, come into the alchemy studio.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: You know, we are I'm available.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: I'm available.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: But here's the most important thing is make a choice for yourself.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: And if you feel that this messaging will be supportive to you, then subscribe.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna be like basically saying a lot of this in a gazillion different ways over and over and over again.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: But I'm here.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: I'm here to be supportive, I'm here to be inspirational, we are cheerleading towards the future, we are not rehashing the past of like talking about all the horrific things that alcohol fucked up your life.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, some there are practices that I that I have in the reservoir of resources that like we gotta go in and clean that shit out.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Like it has to be cleaned out, but it's not from a perspective of doom and gloom.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: I mean, that there's plenty of that shit out there.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: So if that's what you're looking for, this is not the place.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: We're gonna clean house, we're gonna release the rage, we're gonna relieve the grief.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: We're gonna learn how to listen to your intuition because that has been fogged and masked.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: We're gonna listen to awesome music.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: We're gonna listen to ourselves, we're gonna listen to the community of others that have risen above, that are outside of it now, that are like, I'm out, and here's what's going on in my life.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: Like, there's gonna be inspirational, hopeful stories from others that you can listen to and be like, oh, I want what she's got.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: I want what she's got over there.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: Because that's the best way.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: It's like you see when other people are like living their dream, living their life, you want a piece of that, and it's possible.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Not only is it possible, it is inevitable.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: All right, thanks for tuning in, and cheers.
