- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to jag Zlon this morning, Kennanti, see me here
- 0:18Speaker 1: with you, Brian Sex and John Osier as well.
- 0:20Speaker 2: And it's victory week.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It's Victory Tuesday, so we're stretched it out through the
- 0:23Speaker 1: week this week. After a improbable, very bizarre, kind of
- 0:27Speaker 1: weird win over the Cardinals on Sunday in Arizona, let's
- 0:30Speaker 1: get into our big Things today, brought to you by
- 0:32Speaker 1: g e H Government Eployees Health Association benefits for federal
- 0:35Speaker 1: employees and retirees. Big thing Number one is sorry, not sorry.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Liam Cullen after the game said he's not gonna apologize
- 0:42Speaker 1: for HOWISTEAM wins.
- 0:43Speaker 3: We're not gonna apologize for winning around here, you know.
- 0:46Speaker 3: I mean, that's just not anything we're gonna do. Being
- 0:49Speaker 3: three and zero on the West Coast, you know, it
- 0:52Speaker 3: was one of those games that you felt like, all right,
- 0:55Speaker 3: we had explosive runs, then we had two yard runs,
- 0:57Speaker 3: you know, and then we had big passes, and then
- 0:59Speaker 3: we have It was just one of those games that
- 1:01Speaker 3: you felt like when every time you kind of get
- 1:04Speaker 3: momentum going opposite, maybe the first drive, you know, whether
- 1:09Speaker 3: it was getting off schedule, they were doing some things
- 1:12Speaker 3: in the third douns that was giving us some problems
- 1:14Speaker 3: early on from a protection scheme standpoint that we needed
- 1:18Speaker 3: to clean up. We did clean that up. So yeah,
- 1:21Speaker 3: I mean, you always feel multiple emotions after a game,
- 1:25Speaker 3: but winning is what matters.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Brian's of your favorite line. I'm not gonna apologize for
- 1:30Speaker 2: winning around here. It was ugly.
- 1:32Speaker 1: It probably gave a lot of people a spike in
- 1:34Speaker 1: blood pressure, but they got it done.
- 1:35Speaker 4: At the end of the day, it's not I gotta
- 1:36Speaker 4: believe that most people who are watching us, who are
- 1:39Speaker 4: reading the website, who are following the Jaguars, do not
- 1:43Speaker 4: care as long as the team wins.
- 1:45Speaker 5: Now.
- 1:45Speaker 4: They don't want the quarterback to have a bad day
- 1:47Speaker 4: and throw three interceptions. But listen, you went from a
- 1:49Speaker 4: game that was over in the third quarter against the
- 1:51Speaker 4: Chargers to one that went to overtime. It was thrilling.
- 1:55Speaker 4: It was my heart was beating out of my chest
- 1:57Speaker 4: at the end of the game. I enjoyed it immensely.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Does that mean that I want every game to be
- 2:01Speaker 4: like that? No, But John, it's a one score league
- 2:04Speaker 4: and that's what the NFL's built, and so you better
- 2:08Speaker 4: just get used to it. But I do love the
- 2:09Speaker 4: idea that Liam Cowen told his team forget even worrying
- 2:13Speaker 4: about the style points thing.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Man, move on, I'm gonna wait until the camp apologize.
- 2:19Speaker 5: What are you talking about me? It's this team was
- 2:22Speaker 5: four and thirteen last year. Nobody expected seven and four.
- 2:26Speaker 5: I didn't expect seven four. I thought this was an
- 2:28Speaker 5: eight to nine win team struggle to get there. Are
- 2:33Speaker 5: the Eagles apologizing for losing a twenty one point lead.
- 2:35Speaker 5: I mean, and I'm not, you know, down on the Eagles.
- 2:40Speaker 5: The Bills are six and five. I thought they were
- 2:42Speaker 5: going to the super Bowl. There's a couple of teams
- 2:44Speaker 5: that blow people out in this league right now, the
- 2:46Speaker 5: Rams and the Seahawks. Beyond that, show me the list.
- 2:50Speaker 5: I mean, the Jaguars are seven and four. You win.
- 2:54Speaker 5: They're figuring out a way to win close games. This
- 2:56Speaker 5: is a good team, and these games happened. The Broncos
- 2:59Speaker 5: are on the top of my Power Bowl. They beat
- 3:01Speaker 5: the Raiders ten to seven on a Thursday night two
- 3:04Speaker 5: weeks ago. When the guest games you'll ever see. I'm
- 3:06Speaker 5: not apologizing anybody around here. I never do, but especially now.
- 3:10Speaker 1: No apologies, none of them all right. Big thing number
- 3:12Speaker 1: two is growing pains. We talk a little bit about this.
- 3:14Speaker 1: You know, it is a transition here in the end
- 3:16Speaker 1: of the day and they're trying to figure things out
- 3:18Speaker 1: with new coaching and with new players.
- 3:20Speaker 2: But Trevor Lawrence had a tough day.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Three turnover, three interceptions, four turnovers in the game.
- 3:24Speaker 2: But he talked about not playing scared.
- 3:27Speaker 6: I gotta be start with the ball. Obviously, we had
- 3:28Speaker 6: four turnovers and they were all on me. So I
- 3:31Speaker 6: own that, and I got I gotta do my job
- 3:33Speaker 6: and take care of the ball and not put our
- 3:34Speaker 6: defense in tough spots.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Totally get that.
- 3:36Speaker 6: But I'm never gonna never gonna play scared. I'm gonna
- 3:39Speaker 6: continue to let it rip. And I think that's why
- 3:41Speaker 6: you know we have a chance at the end of
- 3:42Speaker 6: the day is because you keep playing. So never gonna
- 3:45Speaker 6: apologize for that, but I will say, cannot turn the
- 3:47Speaker 6: ball over four time. So I own that, and no,
- 3:49Speaker 6: I gotta clean that up. But I'll watch it and
- 3:51Speaker 6: see what it was.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Look, No, John, go ahead, because there's a lot.
- 3:55Speaker 6: There's a lot when.
- 3:57Speaker 5: You let it rip, especially when you're first art and
- 4:00Speaker 5: to let it rip as soon as you're going to
- 4:01Speaker 5: a couple of picks, but look, one of them was tipped.
- 4:03Speaker 5: The Klays Campbell pass was tipped, the interception in the
- 4:07Speaker 5: end zone, the fumble, I get it, but you're also
- 4:13Speaker 5: waiting for a guy a Claire. I don't know that
- 4:16Speaker 5: this was a tragic game for Trevor Lawrence our statistics
- 4:20Speaker 5: because it added up to the rest of the season.
- 4:22Speaker 5: But I credit Liam Cone for this. Brian after the game,
- 4:25Speaker 5: I mean, I guess it was on Monday, he said, hat,
- 4:27Speaker 5: I never lost confidence in it. He told him a
- 4:29Speaker 5: couple weeks ago to let it rip. If he had
- 4:34Speaker 5: come to the sidelines say man, what are you doing.
- 4:35Speaker 5: I'm sure Trevor said, Hey, told me to let it rip.
- 4:37Speaker 5: So they're on the same page as my point. And look,
- 4:42Speaker 5: Trevor Lawrence had three touchdown drives and played really well
- 4:45Speaker 5: in crunch time. Maybe that's what he is.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Called the Trevor Lawrence experience. And listen, I for one,
- 4:52Speaker 4: came out of the game encouraged by the way that
- 4:54Speaker 4: he responded after the third interception in the third quarter
- 4:59Speaker 4: in the second half, right, and he comes down and
- 5:01Speaker 4: he's four or four for fifty nine yards. He ripped
- 5:05Speaker 4: a couple of beautiful passes and threw that touchdown pass.
- 5:09Speaker 4: If you haven't seen the end zone angle of that,
- 5:11Speaker 4: you need to go watch it. You put the ball
- 5:12Speaker 4: where only Parker Washington you can go get it, and
- 5:15Speaker 4: he did. And I loved his answer there Kai. I mean, listen,
- 5:19Speaker 4: I'd like to see him really attack the camera like
- 5:21Speaker 4: you know with that answer, you know, to give you
- 5:23Speaker 4: that really powerful personality. It's not him, but the words
- 5:27Speaker 4: that he spoke were very important there at the end,
- 5:30Speaker 4: and it's something that I have been looking for from him.
- 5:33Speaker 4: I was encouraged to forget the numbers. The numbers are
- 5:36Speaker 4: what the numbers are. I'm going to go into this
- 5:38Speaker 4: a little bit more in hot take, so I'll shut
- 5:40Speaker 4: up and let you go on. But I the people
- 5:42Speaker 4: who look at this league and they just look at scores,
- 5:44Speaker 4: and they just read a headline and read the first sentence.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Trevor Lawrence threw three interceptions and lost a fumble that
- 5:51Speaker 4: was returned for a touchdown. Don't see the whole picture.
- 5:54Speaker 4: It was better than people gave the credit for.
- 5:56Speaker 1: And sometimes this is what happens when you let it rip.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Well do a final big thing, which is weakness to strength.
- 6:01Speaker 1: We talked a lot after that loss to the Texans.
- 6:03Speaker 1: How the defense kind of let that one go and
- 6:06Speaker 1: that was that was really a weakness for them that day.
- 6:08Speaker 1: The defense was the strength yesterday Sunday, excuse me, and
- 6:12Speaker 1: they have been the past two weeks and what they've
- 6:14Speaker 1: changed from the past rush has been great.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Those guys, we had to use a lot of them
- 6:19Speaker 3: in terms of, you know, knowing that they were going
- 6:22Speaker 3: to chuck it a good amount of times in this game.
- 6:25Speaker 3: We used a lot of guys in different positions. We
- 6:28Speaker 3: had a few substitution errors because of that. Danny kind
- 6:31Speaker 3: of got nicked and we were trying to put some
- 6:35Speaker 3: different guys in some different spots to give us some
- 6:38Speaker 3: more rush. But you know, they ran it for what
- 6:41Speaker 3: fifty five yards again, and we knew they were going
- 6:45Speaker 3: to want to come out and chuck in. We had
- 6:46Speaker 3: to impact them and influence the rush, which we did
- 6:49Speaker 3: in a lot of ways.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Brian the defense against the Cardinals six stacks, eleven tackles
- 6:56Speaker 1: for lost, fifteen quarterback hits and don't look now, the
- 7:00Speaker 1: best RUNSOFF team in the league right now, Let's.
- 7:03Speaker 4: Go listen coaching and culture in that answer right there,
- 7:06Speaker 4: the coach got after his defensive line the week of
- 7:10Speaker 4: that Texans loss. He was very animated, I'm told, and
- 7:13Speaker 4: they all took it to heart and they heard the
- 7:15Speaker 4: noise on the outside. Maybe this group isn't as good.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Josh heinz Allen has the record, but maybe he's not
- 7:21Speaker 4: that guy tray Von who didn't play last week in
- 7:24Speaker 4: that big day. So think about how big it could
- 7:25Speaker 4: have been. And Eric Armstead right, remember in training camp
- 7:28Speaker 4: when it was where's Eric arms dead? He's just a bed.
- 7:31Speaker 4: He doesn't want to practice. People didn't understand the behind
- 7:34Speaker 4: the scenes that Eric was pushing himself to get ready
- 7:37Speaker 4: to play, the extraordinary measures that he went to to
- 7:41Speaker 4: get ready to play, and here he is impacting the
- 7:43Speaker 4: game in November. They heard the noise, they responded to it. Now,
- 7:48Speaker 4: same thing with the quarterback. You need him to play consistently.
- 7:51Speaker 4: You need this group to show up every week and
- 7:52Speaker 4: play like that. The Rams front does, the Seahawks front does,
- 7:56Speaker 4: the Texans, and the Broncos front does. If the Jaguars
- 7:59Speaker 4: group does, Hey, this is gonna be a lot of
- 8:00Speaker 4: fun the last six weeks.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought the other day Josh Heinzellen had like
- 8:05Speaker 5: nine pressures. But and you know in the Ozone mail
- 8:09Speaker 5: bag that I do. Everybody's always asking why didn't Josh
- 8:11Speaker 5: have more sacks? And for Josh, those pressures the other
- 8:16Speaker 5: day came as part of a huge team rush. Uh
- 8:20Speaker 5: he had one early that led to a Devon Hamilton sack.
- 8:24Speaker 5: He knows if he's getting pressure, it helps everybody, it
- 8:28Speaker 5: helps the rush as a whole. I thought they rushed
- 8:30Speaker 5: as a team the other day very very well, which
- 8:32Speaker 5: I'm not sure they did do against the Texans when
- 8:34Speaker 5: things broke down, So I think they're back to that,
- 8:37Speaker 5: and uh, yeah, it's it's a it's a significant turnaround
- 8:41Speaker 5: because they took advantage of another team's weakness and made
- 8:44Speaker 5: it their own strength that day. And boy, what a
- 8:47Speaker 5: neat thing it is to watch this team sort of
- 8:50Speaker 5: find guys and I'm referring to bj Green and Danny
- 8:55Speaker 5: Strigo and they're finding themselves in this year of transition
- 8:59Speaker 5: and they're finding some pieces to build on going forward.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Teamwork makes the dream work. Stay with us here on
- 9:04Speaker 1: Jack Zam. We're going to go over all the highlights
- 9:05Speaker 1: for you from Sunday.
- 9:12Speaker 6: You know, I think just the belief we have in
- 9:14Speaker 6: our team in the locker room, and like I said,
- 9:17Speaker 6: I think we've grown from some of the tough losses too.
- 9:20Speaker 6: Over the season. You know, we've had some tough losses too,
- 9:22Speaker 6: you know. You know, like you said, we've won a
- 9:24Speaker 6: lot of the close ones, but we've also had some
- 9:25Speaker 6: close losses. So I think you learn from it, and
- 9:28Speaker 6: you learn that in the NFL every week it's a
- 9:31Speaker 6: week to week league. You got a week to week league,
- 9:34Speaker 6: and you got to play well and then all these
- 9:37Speaker 6: games are going to be close, so you just got
- 9:38Speaker 6: to find a way to finish. So it doesn't matter
- 9:39Speaker 6: what happened the first three quarters of the game. You
- 9:43Speaker 6: just got to find a way to win it in
- 9:44Speaker 6: the fourth. And I think we're learning that and we're
- 9:47Speaker 6: doing a good job of that, and we just got
- 9:48Speaker 6: to keep.
- 9:49Speaker 5: Doing it well.
- 9:50Speaker 2: It was entertaining and they won.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I think I looked over John at a certain point and
- 9:53Speaker 1: when we had to overtime.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I was like, this is just stupid, so silly. And
- 9:58Speaker 2: they won. So I can laugh about it now. But
- 10:00Speaker 2: the point is this time last.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Year, we would to beg for games like this, and
- 10:04Speaker 1: I'm very thankful.
- 10:05Speaker 4: It's interesting that people are banging on the Jaguars about this.
- 10:08Speaker 4: But you know, the Colts lost in overtime. They blew
- 10:10Speaker 4: an eleven point fourth quarter lead. And I look at
- 10:12Speaker 4: the power rankings just for entertainment value, but most people
- 10:16Speaker 4: have them still among the top six or seven teams
- 10:18Speaker 4: in the league instead of dropping and plummeting them. Oh
- 10:21Speaker 4: my gosh, we're worried about the Colts and are they
- 10:23Speaker 4: who we think we are? Well, I mean, they blew
- 10:25Speaker 4: it and Kansas City is not Kansas City, and yet
- 10:28Speaker 4: you know, nobody is pointing to them and going, well,
- 10:30Speaker 4: they're not as good as we think they are. Right,
- 10:32Speaker 4: this is what the NFL it is.
- 10:34Speaker 5: I mean, it's like I said, my little you know,
- 10:38Speaker 5: ran to the top of the show. The Rams are
- 10:41Speaker 5: really good.
- 10:41Speaker 4: They're excellent.
- 10:42Speaker 5: The Seahawks are really good, and I think the Broncos
- 10:45Speaker 5: are pretty good.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Everybody else after.
- 10:48Speaker 4: That, I mean there's four or five teams. I think
- 10:50Speaker 4: you could throw the Eagles in that group.
- 10:51Speaker 5: Yeah, he was lost twenty one point lead.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Well, listen, they're imperfect too.
- 10:54Speaker 5: No, no, And my point is I think he was
- 10:57Speaker 5: my win the Super Bowl. It's a great franchise and
- 11:00Speaker 5: to do it occasionally you lose leads and.
- 11:05Speaker 4: It happens up at the Bills. At one point we
- 11:07Speaker 4: had the Bills it is the best team because the
- 11:08Speaker 4: quarterback was playing his best and that defense was unbeatable,
- 11:12Speaker 4: and then.
- 11:12Speaker 5: They so might win the Super Bowl. Yeah, but they're
- 11:15Speaker 5: six and five or seven.
- 11:16Speaker 4: You know what professional football as opposed to college football,
- 11:19Speaker 4: you you know, it's it's a very You don't have
- 11:22Speaker 4: fifty five to seven, is it not?
- 11:24Speaker 5: The SEC is good?
- 11:25Speaker 1: All right, let's look back at some of these highlights
- 11:27Speaker 1: from Sunday. So I'll start out early. Finally get Brenton
- 11:30Speaker 1: Strange back on the field, and he had an impact,
- 11:32Speaker 1: you know, right out of the gate to see him
- 11:34Speaker 1: get this huge play offf the top. He was impactful
- 11:38Speaker 1: throughout the game, but it was just nice to see
- 11:39Speaker 1: him back on the field. And then we also saw
- 11:41Speaker 1: Travis Etn get involved early, which for me, I always
- 11:44Speaker 1: feel like this team has the best chance of winning
- 11:46Speaker 1: when they get the run game going early and then
- 11:48Speaker 1: they can kind of play from ahead. Travis Etn, continuing
- 11:51Speaker 1: to have a tremendous season, caps off this run with
- 11:54Speaker 1: a touchdown, and John felt early like they had things going.
- 11:57Speaker 5: A little bit absolutely of things going, and then when
- 12:02Speaker 5: you give up points when you're on offense, that's always
- 12:07Speaker 5: it's rare to have that happen and have a blowout, right,
- 12:09Speaker 5: So I thought early and really the whole game, I'm
- 12:14Speaker 5: going to say, except for Trevor's interceptions because that's sort
- 12:17Speaker 5: of part of the game. But they move the ball
- 12:20Speaker 5: really well, and I think if you ask them, they
- 12:25Speaker 5: should and probably do still feel really good about where
- 12:29Speaker 5: they are offensively. And I think key going forward is
- 12:33Speaker 5: how does betj fit and can you give him some
- 12:35Speaker 5: explosiveness because right now they're going pretty well.
- 12:37Speaker 4: We spent so much time talking about the defensive line
- 12:39Speaker 4: and all the hits and all the quarterback hurries and
- 12:41Speaker 4: the sacks. The offensive line played very well the other day, too,
- 12:45Speaker 4: Plenty of time for Trevor to throw, plenty of holes
- 12:48Speaker 4: for the Runners to find. That's not a bad defensive front.
- 12:51Speaker 4: And obviously Kalays Campbell tipped one of those balls for
- 12:54Speaker 4: an interception and the safety got around Brenton Strange. But
- 12:57Speaker 4: I think the offensive line has responded to that bad
- 13:00Speaker 4: game in Houston with two really good games as well,
- 13:02Speaker 4: which is a great sign going forward because they've played
- 13:05Speaker 4: without Ezra, they played without Anton Harrison, without two starters,
- 13:09Speaker 4: so it's good to see that group stepping up as well.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Let's take a look at that fumble recovery kind of
- 13:14Speaker 1: play there. I don't know if you'll fully know what
- 13:17Speaker 1: there's clearly a miss assignment somewhere on this and Trevor
- 13:20Speaker 1: doesn't see the guy coming and then.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Pick I guess is what.
- 13:24Speaker 1: You want to call it. I know it's a fumble,
- 13:25Speaker 1: but just to pick the ball out of the air
- 13:26Speaker 1: and kind of run it in. We always want a
- 13:28Speaker 1: big man touchdown.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I'll give them credit for that whenever they can be
- 13:30Speaker 2: a little athletic. But that was a tough one.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Yeah, and Luckie bounce.
- 13:34Speaker 5: It's such a huge momentum game. You felt at that
- 13:37Speaker 5: point the defense have got him on the field a
- 13:39Speaker 5: couple of times, and you felt like the offense was
- 13:42Speaker 5: going if you could get a ten point lead early
- 13:45Speaker 5: with a team that was struggling, you kept feeling early like, oh,
- 13:48Speaker 5: they're dominating it. And then this happens, like, Okay, buckle up,
- 13:52Speaker 5: because I said earlier, when you give up points when
- 13:57Speaker 5: you're on offense. The way this leagu's built right now,
- 14:00Speaker 5: it's really hard to go flow a team out once
- 14:04Speaker 5: you've given up that sort of field position momentum early that.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Hit, and there was a later hit by Buddha Baker
- 14:09Speaker 4: who had a sack which was really well disguised. Then
- 14:11Speaker 4: sometimes they get home on the Blitzer's I'm not sure
- 14:13Speaker 4: whether the blame or the truth of the matter goes
- 14:16Speaker 4: to Breton Strange for not holding it a little longer,
- 14:18Speaker 4: or for Trevor not feeling it, for seeing that that's
- 14:22Speaker 4: not getting away and realizing he has to find someone else.
- 14:24Speaker 4: It's probably a little bit of both.
- 14:25Speaker 5: And you can see Breton sort of released and he
- 14:28Speaker 5: tries to be the hot Yeah, it happens.
- 14:32Speaker 1: So you look at one of Parker's returns on the day.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I mean, we know what he can do in special
- 14:36Speaker 1: teams and how it sets things up, but he kind
- 14:39Speaker 1: of switches.
- 14:40Speaker 2: The field a little bit.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Here, goes all the way back across, find some space,
- 14:44Speaker 1: and then it's set up a really nice drive with
- 14:46Speaker 1: Jacoby Myers getting involved.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I mean, we know how.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Clearly Trevor trusts Jacoby Myers already at this point, and
- 14:53Speaker 1: we know what Parker can do on special teams, but
- 14:55Speaker 1: this is to me how they set themselves up for
- 14:57Speaker 1: success getting a short field for Trevor and then when
- 15:01Speaker 1: he does throw it, finding the targets that he trusts
- 15:03Speaker 1: the most when.
- 15:04Speaker 2: He needs to.
- 15:05Speaker 4: Can you imagine where they'd be without Parker Washington. I
- 15:07Speaker 4: can make the case right now he is the most
- 15:09Speaker 4: valuable player at this point of the season. Consistently he
- 15:13Speaker 4: has been the guy that has provided you with game
- 15:16Speaker 4: changing plays that have either scored touchdowns or set up
- 15:19Speaker 4: others to score touchdowns, or made important catches in the
- 15:22Speaker 4: back of the end zone at a moment where you're
- 15:24Speaker 4: trailing in a ball game that you absolutely need to win.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Without Parker Washington, this team is not seven and four.
- 15:30Speaker 4: I think he's your MVP right now.
- 15:32Speaker 5: Yeah, he's become a remarkably good player that makes plays consistently.
- 15:39Speaker 5: I tweeted when on the return, I said, just put
- 15:42Speaker 5: him in the Pro Bowl as returns. That can be
- 15:44Speaker 5: a Pro Bowl as a receiver. But if he's not
- 15:47Speaker 5: a Pro Bowl special teams player, I'd like to see
- 15:52Speaker 5: the player who has made more important moments for his
- 15:55Speaker 5: team on special teams in Parker Washington.
- 15:57Speaker 4: You'll see the guy this Sunday that probably is the
- 16:00Speaker 4: the biggest contender. The rookie from Florida who is playing
- 16:02Speaker 4: in Nashville. Yeah, yeah, he's a pretty good player too,
- 16:06Speaker 4: but his team is what one and nine? So I
- 16:08Speaker 4: think you can easily make the case that Parker Washington
- 16:11Speaker 4: is the more impactful special teams player.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Let's take a look.
- 16:14Speaker 1: We're not gonna look at all of them, But how
- 16:15Speaker 1: about Trevor's third interception, because that's the one that led
- 16:18Speaker 1: to the Cardinals getting points off of it, And I
- 16:22Speaker 1: mean John is just part of the letting a.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Rip at this point.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Well, it was. It was a really big time to
- 16:28Speaker 5: play sometimes, you know, Covery Peyton Manning for ten years,
- 16:34Speaker 5: he threw some interceptions and he threw some bad ones
- 16:37Speaker 5: at times, so sometimes it happens. You know, that was
- 16:42Speaker 5: a big time play by a big time player. I
- 16:45Speaker 5: thought the earlier interception one the linebacker got, I think
- 16:49Speaker 5: it was a linebacker on the third quarter was probably
- 16:50Speaker 5: a worst pass than that. Yeah, it's going to happen
- 16:56Speaker 5: some and I'll go back to the top, Brian. I
- 16:59Speaker 5: think it's significant that Trevor used the phrase after the game,
- 17:03Speaker 5: let it rip that Liam so strongly and I think heartfelt.
- 17:07Speaker 5: Le on Monday said, hey, I never gave up confidence
- 17:11Speaker 5: on what the passing game was doing. It's a little
- 17:13Speaker 5: bit of a signal for hey, this is this is
- 17:15Speaker 5: what it's gonna be guys. You know, and I've gotten
- 17:18Speaker 5: some comparisons in the last couple of days. Is he
- 17:21Speaker 5: becoming Brett fav in his prime? Which again gunslinger picks
- 17:28Speaker 5: And I don't know if that's exactly right, but I'm
- 17:31Speaker 5: not sure it's exactly wrong.
- 17:32Speaker 4: Well, I got a name for you, and I'll share
- 17:34Speaker 4: it with you in hot takes. Yeah, I know another
- 17:38Speaker 4: quarterback to what to make a comparison in terms of
- 17:40Speaker 4: slinging the ball around. Listen, he let it rip. Budda
- 17:43Speaker 4: Baker is a Pro Bowl probably an All Pro caunumber safety.
- 17:47Speaker 4: He made a great play. But here's the more important thing,
- 17:49Speaker 4: and I'm sure we're gonna see the highlights. He let
- 17:51Speaker 4: it rip the rest of the game, and on the
- 17:52Speaker 4: next drive he was four to four for sixty yards
- 17:55Speaker 4: right or for fifty nine of the sixty yards. And
- 17:57Speaker 4: then in overtime he let it rip to Parker, Washington
- 18:00Speaker 4: and on the first playoff overtime for twenty five yards.
- 18:03Speaker 4: It's the way it goes in the National Football League.
- 18:05Speaker 4: He's gonna make some bad throws. I think you made
- 18:08Speaker 4: the point. The one of the linebacker was the one
- 18:10Speaker 4: that you point to and say, well, that one, absolutely,
- 18:12Speaker 4: you can't make that one. Budda Baker made a great
- 18:14Speaker 4: play on the ball.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and credit the defense for also when they did
- 18:18Speaker 1: have the turnovers other than that one interception. Exactly. That's
- 18:21Speaker 1: great to see. We love complimentary football around here. Let's
- 18:24Speaker 1: take a look at that Parker Washington touchdown because that
- 18:27Speaker 1: was one of the throws from Trevor Lawrence that you
- 18:28Speaker 1: do want to see and when you needed it at
- 18:31Speaker 1: that point in the fourth quarter.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Just shape it. I mean, just the end zone view
- 18:36Speaker 4: of this. I saw it on X A guy took
- 18:39Speaker 4: it from his camera and it's just the ball just
- 18:42Speaker 4: it's like a curve ball, you know, coming from a pitcher.
- 18:45Speaker 4: And the relationship that Parker Washington's sixth round pick has
- 18:51Speaker 4: formed with the starting quarterback out of necessity because you
- 18:54Speaker 4: haven't had BTJ all season long, and you missed Diammie
- 18:57Speaker 4: Brown at some point in time, he has become the
- 19:00Speaker 4: quarterbacks go to guys.
- 19:02Speaker 5: Well big time. Trust there, known he's going to go
- 19:05Speaker 5: make a play. That's only going to get better. I
- 19:08Speaker 5: talked about Parker earlier, so I'll sort of veer from
- 19:11Speaker 5: this a second. Jacoby Myers and Parker Washington, I think
- 19:15Speaker 5: are giving him two reliable receivers. A lot of credit
- 19:17Speaker 5: to Jacobe on that highlight that we miss coming back
- 19:20Speaker 5: for the ball on that red zone catch and then
- 19:23Speaker 5: having a big time catching the end zone. Parker Washington
- 19:27Speaker 5: and Jacoby Myers, this team has created a wide receiver
- 19:33Speaker 5: corps that nobody thought would be the wide receiver corps
- 19:36Speaker 5: in August on the fly, and I think it's really impressive.
- 19:39Speaker 4: They remind you of Marvin Harrison and Jay Jones and
- 19:44Speaker 4: Christian Kirk, who were the three guys in twenty twenty
- 19:46Speaker 4: two when he erupted, when Trevor broke out, they were
- 19:50Speaker 4: always where they were supposed to be, and he could
- 19:52Speaker 4: almost without looking turned and throw the ball to a
- 19:55Speaker 4: spot and know they were going to get it.
- 19:56Speaker 5: And now guys, he's got three. Brenton Strange also he's
- 20:02Speaker 5: also got Travis y team in the passing game. To
- 20:04Speaker 5: be an efficient big time offense, you need four guys
- 20:08Speaker 5: you can beat double teams. Well, we'll see if Brian
- 20:13Speaker 5: Thomas Junior fits into that when he comes back. But
- 20:15Speaker 5: they're starting to get a receiver corp he can trust.
- 20:17Speaker 5: That's really important.
- 20:18Speaker 1: All right, let's see this Jags failed fourth down. I'm
- 20:21Speaker 1: sure Pete had a lot to say about it on
- 20:23Speaker 1: a happy hour last night because they chose not to
- 20:26Speaker 1: feel goals and went for it, which.
- 20:28Speaker 2: I was fine with. I know everyone wants to fill
- 20:30Speaker 2: my opinion.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I was fine that maybe the play could we run it?
- 20:34Speaker 1: Is that a possibility?
- 20:35Speaker 5: Yeah? I mean the best plays in the NFL are
- 20:38Speaker 5: the ones that work, So yeah, you could have run it.
- 20:42Speaker 5: I don't know if they're a smashed mouth running team yet.
- 20:47Speaker 5: Look I said with Doug when he was here, Honestly,
- 20:53Speaker 5: these guys are going to go for it on fourth
- 20:56Speaker 5: and one. The philosophy is we have it in our
- 20:59Speaker 5: hands to end the game, as opposed to giving it
- 21:02Speaker 5: to the other team when your defense is tired. Analytics
- 21:06Speaker 5: show that's what you do now, well us, Yeah, old school.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Guy kicking fever.
- 21:11Speaker 5: Well, it's not an old school league anymore.
- 21:13Speaker 4: I'm a little new school on this one too, because
- 21:15Speaker 4: when you consider that you're kicking off right and they're
- 21:18Speaker 4: probably going to get it between the thirty and the
- 21:20Speaker 4: thirty five unless something catastrophic happens and they return it.
- 21:24Speaker 4: Even more than that, I think it makes sense if
- 21:27Speaker 4: you've got them in that spot in the field, you know,
- 21:30Speaker 4: get the first down and end the game and keep
- 21:33Speaker 4: them deep. Yes, the play didn't work, but they were
- 21:36Speaker 4: looking at Brenton Strange and the Cardinals covered it.
- 21:39Speaker 5: There as an element of this, and Liam touched on it,
- 21:42Speaker 5: and I think it's important to remember they're just getting
- 21:46Speaker 5: this thing going. I think this regime is going to
- 21:48Speaker 5: be here for fifty games. I think I think Leams
- 21:51Speaker 5: will be that kind of a coach right now. They're
- 21:53Speaker 5: trying to establish this is what we do here, we
- 21:57Speaker 5: go to end the game in this situation, and I
- 21:59Speaker 5: think he may mention that after the game of there's
- 22:02Speaker 5: the kind of team we're going to be.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Well, you've been consistently did that in Week two in Cincinnati.
- 22:05Speaker 4: It didn't work out, but the play they called was
- 22:07Speaker 4: right right and Brian Thomas Junior just simply dropped the
- 22:10Speaker 4: ball that day. Who can forget that game. I'm with you.
- 22:14Speaker 4: I think this is the Daguars, Mike Tumlin, this is
- 22:17Speaker 4: the Draguars, John Harbaugh. They've got their coach, they've got
- 22:20Speaker 4: their regime and seven to four is phenomenal. In year one,
- 22:25Speaker 4: the most important element of this year was about building
- 22:28Speaker 4: it the right way, putting a foundation and the culture
- 22:30Speaker 4: in place. It's in place to do.
- 22:34Speaker 5: There's a philosophy there. If we have fourth and one
- 22:37Speaker 5: in this situation ten times over the course of the season,
- 22:40Speaker 5: doing it this way is going to get us more
- 22:43Speaker 5: wins than doing it the other way. So there's and
- 22:47Speaker 5: I think they believe if you go forward on fourth
- 22:49Speaker 5: and one in that situation, try to end the game,
- 22:52Speaker 5: you're going to succeed more often than not.
- 22:54Speaker 1: And I will say I feel like the offense on
- 22:56Speaker 1: the other team plays differently when they're going for potentially
- 22:58Speaker 1: either a game time so huge or our touchdown because
- 23:01Speaker 1: they go about it differently as well. It's still the
- 23:02Speaker 1: final play of the game, because I want to give
- 23:04Speaker 1: some credit to the secondary. I know we are going on,
- 23:06Speaker 1: but I've been ragging on them a little bit. How
- 23:09Speaker 1: about Christian Braswell, I mean, coming in played a good
- 23:12Speaker 1: chunk of this game. They really didn't play much of
- 23:14Speaker 1: Greg Newsom. They had Braswell out there and makes play a.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Band well and listen, he gave up the big play
- 23:20Speaker 4: that set up the game field goals. So for him
- 23:22Speaker 4: then to come back and be in a position to
- 23:26Speaker 4: make the play. Good on him to learn from the
- 23:28Speaker 4: mistake and to be in the right spot instead of
- 23:30Speaker 4: biting on the double move.
- 23:31Speaker 5: Yeah, you hold your breath on this kind of play
- 23:33Speaker 5: because it could have been called DPI. Yep, shouldn't have
- 23:36Speaker 5: been called DPI in my opinion. But any time in
- 23:40Speaker 5: this league now where a defender makes a play on
- 23:42Speaker 5: the ball with the receiver around, you hold your breath.
- 23:45Speaker 5: I thought it was the right call because I didn't
- 23:49Speaker 5: really believe that the Cardinals should have benefited from sort
- 23:53Speaker 5: of a hail Mary there. It probably could have gone
- 23:55Speaker 5: either way. Great play by braswell and credit to do
- 24:00Speaker 5: too for getting over and it was that's the way
- 24:04Speaker 5: that past should be called. Too often in the league.
- 24:07Speaker 1: You get a flat all right, says we'll give you
- 24:10Speaker 1: our hot takes when we come back out for the break.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Jag XAM Hot takes brought to you today by Bye
- 24:21Speaker 1: House Ups.
- 24:24Speaker 7: I want to execute when my number is called. I
- 24:26Speaker 7: want to make the plays that come to me. I'm
- 24:29Speaker 7: not reaching for anything. There was no I need to
- 24:32Speaker 7: do anything because I'm in Arizona or anything like that.
- 24:34Speaker 5: I just tried to keep my composure.
- 24:36Speaker 7: Heath did a great job and I'm gonna help it.
- 24:38Speaker 7: Keep me calm before the game and everything. He's like,
- 24:41Speaker 7: I've been there, amped out. It's not the way to go,
- 24:45Speaker 7: bro Let me let me just keep you calm and collected.
- 24:47Speaker 7: And I appreciate him for that.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Let you do our hot taste. That was Heith Farwell
- 24:52Speaker 2: keeping him in check. Gardick had today. But Brian, who
- 24:55Speaker 2: was fun? Brian, tell us what your hot take is today?
- 24:57Speaker 4: Grevor will be just fine.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Now.
- 25:00Speaker 4: A couple of reasons why I say that. A. I
- 25:02Speaker 4: was encouraged by the six play sixty yard drive and
- 25:05Speaker 4: how he responded after he threw that third interception that
- 25:09Speaker 4: Buddha Baker made the play on the ball. And John,
- 25:10Speaker 4: how many times have we seen this Jaguars team bumping
- 25:14Speaker 4: along the bottom and you just figure out, here's going
- 25:16Speaker 4: to be a three and out because you know they
- 25:17Speaker 4: are not playing well. And I was looking at Trevor
- 25:22Speaker 4: in particular and the way he was reacting on the sideline,
- 25:24Speaker 4: and I told you I like guys who bring energy,
- 25:27Speaker 4: who play with a little bit of anger, and that's
- 25:28Speaker 4: just not him, but you could just see the way
- 25:30Speaker 4: he was nodding his head and looking at talking to
- 25:32Speaker 4: people that he was up for the challenge and he was.
- 25:36Speaker 4: So I come out of this thinking, all right. He
- 25:39Speaker 4: didn't play his best game though he did throw three touchdowns,
- 25:41Speaker 4: and a couple of those throws were sensational. The one
- 25:44Speaker 4: to Parker we didn't show it, but the one that
- 25:46Speaker 4: Jacoby Myers caught in the end zone. So you got
- 25:49Speaker 4: this inconsistency, this up and down. It's the first year
- 25:52Speaker 4: that he's here in this program working with him. He's
- 25:55Speaker 4: going to be fine out Fine might be all he
- 25:58Speaker 4: ever is. That's going to be a to him. That's
- 26:00Speaker 4: going to be up to the way that he improves.
- 26:03Speaker 4: But I think I'll give you the name. In his
- 26:06Speaker 4: fifth season, Matthew Stafford through nineteen interceptions his fifth year
- 26:10Speaker 4: with the Detroit Lions, number one overall pick in two
- 26:13Speaker 4: thousand and nine. He had some winning seasons with the Lions,
- 26:16Speaker 4: but he never took them to the Promised Land, despite
- 26:19Speaker 4: the fact that he had Calvin Johnson.
- 26:20Speaker 5: As his receiver.
- 26:21Speaker 4: Right, he had some Hall of famers. We'll look at
- 26:23Speaker 4: him now in his fifteenth season, he's an MVP candidate,
- 26:26Speaker 4: and he's playing ridiculous thirty touchdowns and two interceptions. I
- 26:30Speaker 4: am not saying that that is the trajectory that Trevor
- 26:34Speaker 4: will be on. I'm just saying that sometimes it takes
- 26:36Speaker 4: a little bit longer, and I feel good after watching
- 26:40Speaker 4: him respond and in overtime. I think he's going to
- 26:44Speaker 4: be just fine. I personally think that, and I am
- 26:47Speaker 4: not worried about him. Do I want to see better play, Absolutely?
- 26:50Speaker 4: Do I think we're going to see more three interception games? Well,
- 26:53Speaker 4: hopefully not this year, but in the future. Yeah, probably,
- 26:55Speaker 4: I think it'd be fine.
- 26:58Speaker 5: Look, get the joke this week is the Trevor Lawrence
- 27:02Speaker 5: experience and I get killed all the time. Are you
- 27:04Speaker 5: defending Dragon?
- 27:06Speaker 4: I am, by the way, and keeps you wondering.
- 27:09Speaker 5: Since twoenty twenty two? Was that Doug's first year? Yeah,
- 27:13Speaker 5: twenty two. I believe last season is a lost season.
- 27:19Speaker 5: I never thought that Trevor really got anything going. The
- 27:21Speaker 5: team didn't get anything going beyond that. When Trevor's been
- 27:24Speaker 5: healthy for a functioning team, which was a functional team
- 27:27Speaker 5: in twenty two to twenty three. In this year, they're
- 27:29Speaker 5: like twenty one and eight with him. When he's been healthy.
- 27:33Speaker 5: At the end of twenty three, it was a disaster
- 27:34Speaker 5: because the hell and I'm not saying you can take
- 27:37Speaker 5: out the other stuff. My point is, as soon as
- 27:42Speaker 5: you criticize and figure out history shows that you can
- 27:46Speaker 5: win with them, and they're winning with him right now
- 27:49Speaker 5: no matter what us is going on. So that's where again,
- 27:52Speaker 5: I don't know what the end game is going to be,
- 27:54Speaker 5: but you have to bring that into the conversation. If
- 27:57Speaker 5: you're going to talk about Trevor Larrence is.
- 27:59Speaker 4: In the guy in Seattle. Darnold is also considered an
- 28:02Speaker 4: MVP candidate this year. He's on his fifteen in his
- 28:04Speaker 4: eighth season, and he was the fourth overall pick of
- 28:07Speaker 4: that twenty eighteen draft. These guys evolve over time.
- 28:10Speaker 5: Yeah, so this is sort of endto mind.
- 28:12Speaker 4: You know, we're way out of time.
- 28:16Speaker 5: Stop worrying. It could apply to Traver, it could apply
- 28:19Speaker 5: the whole team. Stop worrying about what they're not for
- 28:22Speaker 5: right now. I mean, there's plenty that they're gonna have
- 28:23Speaker 5: to do in the off season. I think there's still
- 28:25Speaker 5: pieces they got to put in place. It's not a
- 28:27Speaker 5: mature roster, But in the context of this, you're seven
- 28:31Speaker 5: and four. You're winning games. It's fun. I'm having fun.
- 28:35Speaker 5: You guys having fun. So you know during after wins,
- 28:42Speaker 5: you know I'm getting these emails. Well, they stink at Disney,
- 28:45Speaker 5: stink at Thisney, think of this. This is the NFL.
- 28:48Speaker 5: They're seven and fourth. Stop worrying about what they're not,
- 28:51Speaker 5: enjoy what they are for now, and then they'll work
- 28:53Speaker 5: to get some stuff fixed in the off season. I
- 28:55Speaker 5: think they have flaws. They have flaws that are probably
- 28:57Speaker 5: gonna be the reason they're not holding a trophy at
- 28:59Speaker 5: the end. But they also have a lot of strengths
- 29:01Speaker 5: that are making this fun and that you can see
- 29:04Speaker 5: them week by week finding stuff that's gonna work going forward.
- 29:09Speaker 4: They're seven to four. I think that says it all.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Winning is fun.
- 29:12Speaker 4: Yep.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Winning is always fun for me. A little bit of
- 29:15Speaker 1: an identity thing. I think we came in with high
- 29:17Speaker 1: expectations for the past game. It's time to fully accept
- 29:20Speaker 1: this is a run first team. When they win football games,
- 29:23Speaker 1: it's when their run game gets established. If you were
- 29:25Speaker 1: gonna pick out a strength of this team right now,
- 29:27Speaker 1: it would be the run game. The offensive line has
- 29:30Speaker 1: been blocking well and Travis etn is having an amazing season,
- 29:33Speaker 1: and Tooton is developing as his rookie season goes along.
- 29:36Speaker 2: For me, there needs to be some focus on that.
- 29:39Speaker 1: We talk a lot about what Trevor isn't, but let's
- 29:41Speaker 1: talk a little bit about what the.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Run game has been for this team.
- 29:43Speaker 1: And that's been to me, the MVP of this offense
- 29:46Speaker 1: has been Travis etn and that's what is getting a
- 29:49Speaker 1: lot of these wins and maybe not getting the shine
- 29:51Speaker 1: it deserves because of some other stuff that we're picking at.
- 29:53Speaker 2: But the run game has looked good.
- 29:55Speaker 4: I can remember a conversation with Mike masor good on Mike,
- 29:57Speaker 4: the Jagguars original offensive line coach, and I and how
- 30:00Speaker 4: do you get the run game going? And he's the
- 30:02Speaker 4: run game. He's an attitude and when you talk to
- 30:05Speaker 4: the offensive lineman on this team, they have the right
- 30:07Speaker 4: attitude for it.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 30:08Speaker 5: Stay with us.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Will tell you what's coming up the rest of the
- 30:10Speaker 1: week after right, guys, fan if you want to customized
- 30:18Speaker 1: Jaguarsh furniture for your home, check out zipchare dot com
- 30:21Speaker 1: rouse all the customizable options. Zipchair is furniture for fans.
- 30:25Speaker 8: Cut real quick.
- 30:27Speaker 9: We're not apologizing for fing wins around here. How that's
- 30:39Speaker 9: about resilience. That's about staying the course and staying together
- 30:44Speaker 9: and making plays.
- 30:46Speaker 4: When we need it most.
- 30:48Speaker 9: How about our quarterback of Parker Watson.
