- 1:21Speaker 1: here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:24Speaker 2: But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each
- 1:28Speaker 2: one for the prophet of all. For to one is
- 1:31Speaker 2: given the word of wisdom through the spirit, to another,
- 1:35Speaker 2: the word of knowledge through the same spirit to another,
- 1:38Speaker 2: Faith by the same spirit to another, gifts of healings
- 1:43Speaker 2: by the same spirit to another, the working of miracles
- 1:48Speaker 2: to another, prophecy to another, discerning of spirits to another,
- 1:53Speaker 2: different kinds of tongues to another, the interpretation of tongues
- 1:59Speaker 2: but one and the same spirit works all these things,
- 2:04Speaker 2: distributing to each one individually as he wills again First
- 2:11Speaker 2: Corinthians twelve, verses seven through eleven. As we continue our
- 2:17Speaker 2: study of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit, we
- 2:22Speaker 2: reach the gift of prophecy. What is the gift of
- 2:28Speaker 2: prophecy and why should it be so desired? The apostle
- 2:34Speaker 2: Paul purposely singles out this gift when telling us to
- 2:40Speaker 2: seek after the spiritual gifts. He says that we are
- 2:47Speaker 2: to desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
- 2:54Speaker 2: The gift of prophecy is when we get a direct
- 2:58Speaker 2: word from the Lord. Usually this gives us a message
- 3:04Speaker 2: to give to someone else. The message from the Lord
- 3:09Speaker 2: that will be given to us will literally be word
- 3:14Speaker 2: for word. When you get one of these prophetic methods,
- 3:19Speaker 2: you need to try and either write or copy it
- 3:25Speaker 2: so that you are in a place that you are
- 3:28Speaker 2: able to do so. You want to be able to
- 3:32Speaker 2: keep a record of any prophetic message, just a means
- 3:38Speaker 2: of being able to support documenting what God says. There's
- 3:45Speaker 2: nothing greater than to be able to receive a direct,
- 3:50Speaker 2: clear prophetic word from the Lord and to be able
- 3:54Speaker 2: to give someone else that same word. In order to
- 3:59Speaker 2: help and build them up, or to help them out
- 4:04Speaker 2: with something specific they may be dealing with. With you
- 4:09Speaker 2: being the actual messenger of that prophetic word, that someone
- 4:17Speaker 2: will find the word has specific meaning to them, and
- 4:23Speaker 2: as such, these words need to be recorded or written
- 4:28Speaker 2: down if at all possible. However, there will be times
- 4:33Speaker 2: that we will not be able to record it. Sometimes,
- 4:38Speaker 2: very suddenly, the Holy Spirit will give you a direct,
- 4:43Speaker 2: clear prophetic word to give to someone else. When you
- 4:48Speaker 2: speak out the word to this person, and then you
- 4:52Speaker 2: will actually see it done. It might be very short,
- 4:58Speaker 2: or it could be more of a lengthy word. If
- 5:04Speaker 2: it is not able to be recorded or written down,
- 5:09Speaker 2: then you would want the individual to try to relate
- 5:14Speaker 2: how that word from the Lord meant so much in
- 5:19Speaker 2: their life. There will be other times that you will
- 5:23Speaker 2: be in a place to properly record that word, and
- 5:28Speaker 2: depending on what the Lord is giving you as a
- 5:32Speaker 2: direct message, either on or how long it is, you
- 5:38Speaker 2: should make every attempt to have it written down on
- 5:42Speaker 2: paper or recorded so that others will be able to benefit.
- 5:49Speaker 2: These are real treasures when they come from the Lord.
- 5:55Speaker 2: The Bible tells us that God uses the gift of
- 5:59Speaker 2: prophecy to speak edification, exhortation, and comfort to other people.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Here is the specific verse giving us this direct revelation
- 6:13Speaker 2: on what the main use of prophecy is all about.
- 6:18Speaker 2: But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort
- 6:26Speaker 2: to men First Corinthians fourteen four. Many times prophecy is
- 6:34Speaker 2: also used to help confirm what has already been given
- 6:38Speaker 2: to the person earlier on by the Lord. Sometimes God
- 6:44Speaker 2: will confirm for you what He has already told you earlier,
- 6:51Speaker 2: so you will know that it really was him all
- 6:55Speaker 2: along giving you that specific message. And one of the
- 7:00Speaker 2: ways that He can confirm a previous message that He
- 7:04Speaker 2: has already given you is by giving you a direct
- 7:08Speaker 2: prophecy through yet another believer. Prophecies from the Lord can
- 7:15Speaker 2: cover an extremely wide range of situations and issues, covering
- 7:20Speaker 2: everything from predicting future events like they used to do
- 7:25Speaker 2: in the Old Testament, or to giving someone counsel, encouragement, confirmation, instruction,
- 7:33Speaker 2: and possible correction when it may be needed. Also, all
- 7:39Speaker 2: prophecy needs to be properly tested, as the Bible tells
- 7:45Speaker 2: us that there will always be false prophets walking among
- 7:51Speaker 2: us along with the possibility of well meaning believers prophesying
- 7:57Speaker 2: out of their own imaginations. Here's the verse giving us
- 8:02Speaker 2: this direct warning, do not quench the spirit, do not
- 8:08Speaker 2: despise prophecies. Test all things, hold fast what is good
- 8:15Speaker 2: first Thessalonians five nineteen through twenty one. All prophecies always
- 8:23Speaker 2: need to line up with the scripture. If it does not,
- 8:27Speaker 2: it should be immediately rejected. God will never go against
- 8:33Speaker 2: his own word when delivering a prophetic word to someone. Again,
- 8:40Speaker 2: any believer can have the Lord manifest this gift through
- 8:43Speaker 2: them at any time that he wants to do so.
- 8:48Speaker 2: You do not have to hold the actual office of
- 8:51Speaker 2: a prophet in order for God to manifest this gift
- 8:56Speaker 2: through you from time to time. Tells us that in
- 9:01Speaker 2: the latter days God will be pouring out his Holy
- 9:05Speaker 2: Spirit upon all flesh, and when he does, it says
- 9:10Speaker 2: that our sons and daughters will be prophesied. This means
- 9:16Speaker 2: that there are going to be many believers who are
- 9:20Speaker 2: going to be getting this gift manifesting through them with
- 9:25Speaker 2: a lot of frequency in the coming years. When the
- 9:30Speaker 2: apostle Paul says in the above verses that we stated
- 9:35Speaker 2: desire earnestly to prophesy and to desire spiritual gifts, especially
- 9:42Speaker 2: that you may prophesie. You know that this is something
- 9:47Speaker 2: that the Lord would really like to do more of
- 9:52Speaker 2: with his children.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 9:57Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us you've been listening to
- 9:59Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word Word with Richard K. You can

- 10:34Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again, here is Richard
- 10:38Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 10:42Speaker 2: The Lord may manifest this gift through you from time
- 10:46Speaker 2: to time, so you can be a direct messenger for
- 10:50Speaker 2: him to someone else. Just go to him in prayer
- 10:55Speaker 2: and tell him that you would be more than happy
- 11:00Speaker 2: to be willing and yielded as a vessel for him
- 11:04Speaker 2: to manifest this particular gift of prophecy through you, if
- 11:10Speaker 2: he would like to do so. The gift of prophecy
- 11:16Speaker 2: will benefit all when it is given as a direct
- 11:22Speaker 2: word of encouragement, direction, confirmation of a word already received,
- 11:30Speaker 2: or in some cases, a confirmed word of something yet
- 11:36Speaker 2: to come. Today, the gift of prophecy is utilized in
- 11:43Speaker 2: the body. Is it flowing through you? And that is
- 11:49Speaker 2: today's reflection on the word.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 11:57Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Word. Richard
- 12:00Speaker 1: K or Richard the entire team. This is Chuck Christie
- 12:03Speaker 1: saying thanks for listening to this edition of Reflections on
- 12:07Speaker 1: the Word
