- 0:00SPEAKER_01: The best time to call someone is when you don't have to.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: In business and in life,
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: relationships thrive on care that's not tied to a sale, a deadline, or an agenda.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is reach out just because someone came to mind.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: Today, our focus is Proverbs 27, verses 23 through 27, because it's the 27th day of the month.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Hi, I'm Ernie Lansford,
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: and this is Marketplace Proverbs and Coffee with Ernie,
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: where a proverb a day keeps stinking thinking away.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: I'm Ernie Lansford,
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: and my desire is to help you connect biblical wisdom
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: to everyday marketplace decisions,
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: allowing you to build relationships that outlast any transactions.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: We work to do our best, really,
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: to bring timeless biblical wisdom and truth into the marketplace,
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: where influence is real and Choices are constant, and relationships matter the most.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: So, pour yourself a cup of coffee or whatever it is you drink
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: when this particular podcast comes on, and let's get started.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Today, I'm sharing from Chapter 27 of Marketplace Proverbs,
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: Volume 2,
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Micro to Macro,
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: The Ripple Effect of Influence, written by yours truly, and co-author John Kluter.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: So, I'm going to be reading...
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: From the CSB translation or version of Proverbs 27, verses 23 through 27.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: Know well the condition of your flock and pay attention to your herds,
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: for wealth is not forever, not even a crown lasts all time.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: When hay is removed and new growth appears and the grain from the hills is gathered
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: in, lambs will provide your clothing and goats the price of a field.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: There will be enough goat's milk for your food,
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: food for your household, and nourishment for your servants.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: That's Proverbs 27, verses 23 through 27.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: From my perspective, this passage isn't just about farming.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: It's about stewardship.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: And just like flocks and herds need daily care, relationships require consistent attention.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: Neglect really weakens them.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: Nurturing strengthens them.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: In my early years,
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: a family elder, my grandmother Powell, shared a principle I've never forgotten.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: Quote,
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: when someone comes to mind outside of a recent conversation or planned interaction,
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: the Holy Spirit may be prompting you to pray for them, so reach out.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: I've seen this proven over and over.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: Sometimes it's been weeks or months since I last spoke with someone inside
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: a customer's organization, and suddenly that individual comes to mind.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: And when I called or even send a handwritten card,
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: I often hear, wow, I was just about to call you or I've been meaning to reach out.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: Now, even when there wasn't an immediate need, the connection was strengthened.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: And many times,
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: a follow-up conversation uncovered opportunities to help with a project or provide
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: a solution or a prayer request.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: Handwritten notes have been one of my most effective relationship-building tools.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: Whether sent after an on-site visit,
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: which I used to do when I was a field rep back in the 70s, 80s,
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: and 90s,
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: simply say,
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: thinking of you,
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: or thank you for the time, they've built trust in ways that the emails never could.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: A handwritten thank you card.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: I have some printed up with my slogan,
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: Customer Success Mastery is my,
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: Customer Success is my mission, Celebrated Relationship is my goal.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: It's just a small personal touch that says, you matter to me.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: You know something, that really changes everything.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: Now, listening to the Holy Spirit's promptings isn't just for customers,
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: it's for family and friends too.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: I've had moments when someone came to mind in the middle of the night,
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: along with a sense of urgency to pray for them.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: And following that prompting has led to some of the most meaningful conversations
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: and moments of encouragement in my life.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: Acting on those nudges, these nudges is part of stewardship.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: It reminds us that relationships are personal, spiritual, and eternal.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: Not just transactional.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: Proverbs 27 tells us the rewards of good stewardship,
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: ongoing provision, stronger bonds, and the joy of serving with integrity and love.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: When we pay attention to the condition of our flock,
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: whether that's customers or colleagues or family,
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: we create ripples that last far beyond the moment.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: Today's customer success quote,
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: relationships grow when you respond to God's prompting before the world gives you
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: a reason.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: Lord, thank you for the relationships you've entrusted to me.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: And help me be attentive to your Holy Spirit's promptings,
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: whether to pray, reach out, or offer practical assistance.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Teach me to be a faithful steward.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: Who invest in the lives of others with genuine care and intentionality.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: May my actions reflect your love and create ripples of significance in
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: the marketplace and beyond.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: In Jesus' name, amen.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: Well, I've got some expanded action points.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: Responding to promptings is the theme.
