- 0:00Speaker 1: Mark Simone, live from the WOR LifeVac studios. Hey, it's
- 0:10Speaker 1: hour number three. That's right. Three hours every day. We
- 0:15Speaker 1: start at nine o'clock every morning. It's nine to noon.
- 0:17Speaker 1: So in Nashville, there's a big movement now to rename
- 0:21Speaker 1: the airport after Dolly Parton. Sounds pretty good. Dolly Parton
- 0:26Speaker 1: International Airport, Nashville, Tennessee. But... She was great. But, you know,
- 0:31Speaker 1: you got a lot of people there that came out
- 0:32Speaker 1: of Nashville. You got Johnny Cash. You got all those.
- 0:36Speaker 1: And Nashville now is one of the big, major cities
- 0:39Speaker 1: in America. If you haven't been there in years, it
- 0:42Speaker 1: is booming. It is just a big, huge, booming city. Now,
- 0:48Speaker 1: Dolly Parton, a lot of younger artists were really inspired
- 0:51Speaker 1: by her and great students at Dolly Parton. Harry Styles
- 0:56Speaker 1: opening at MSG. Madison Square Garden opening its residency last night.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Surprised fans by doing a huge Dolly Parton tribute. Katy Perry,
- 1:08Speaker 1: same thing in Los Angeles, gave a gushing tribute to
- 1:14Speaker 1: Dolly Parton. She meant a lot to a lot of people.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Let me play this again. We're playing this every hour.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Every hour. We want celebrities, singers... People in the entertainment
- 1:24Speaker 1: business to listen to this. Dolly Parton was a genius
- 1:28Speaker 1: at not just songwriting, but career management. That's why she
- 1:34Speaker 1: stayed popular for so long. That's why after her death,
- 1:39Speaker 1: you've heard nothing but gushing tributes. Nobody's got a bad
- 1:42Speaker 1: word to say about Dolly Parton. Nobody's got a negative thought.
- 1:46Speaker 1: This is one reason why she stayed the hell away
- 1:48Speaker 1: from politicians. The Clintons a couple of times wanted to
- 1:52Speaker 1: have her come to some event or something, and she
- 1:55Speaker 1: didn't want to be in a picture with them. Donald
- 1:57Speaker 1: Trump twice tried to give her the Medal of Freedom.
- 2:01Speaker 1: She just kind of stayed away. Well, one time it
- 2:03Speaker 1: was the pandemic, and the other time she said her
- 2:05Speaker 1: husband was just too sick and she couldn't leave. But
- 2:10Speaker 1: here's a good example. This is right after, remember the
- 2:14Speaker 1: Billy Bush tape on the bus, the Billy Bush tape? Well,
- 2:17Speaker 1: that was pretty bad, and this interviewer, then tries to
- 2:21Speaker 1: get Dolly Parton to comment on it, but she would
- 2:24Speaker 1: never talk about politics.
- 2:26Speaker 2: We have a president of the United States who said
- 2:28Speaker 2: those things on that bus. I'm not addressing that. I
- 2:31Speaker 2: do not get into that. Of course, I have my
- 2:34Speaker 2: opinion about everybody and everything. But I learned a long
- 2:37Speaker 2: time ago, keep your damn mouth shut if you want
- 2:39Speaker 2: to stay in show business. I'm not in politics. I'm
- 2:42Speaker 2: an entertainer.
- 2:43Speaker 1: And yet, you're also a role model.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Yes, I am.
- 2:45Speaker 2: That's why I don't... Talk about people. So if you
- 2:48Speaker 2: are deciding you may want to ask me something more serious, don't,
- 2:51Speaker 2: because I'm not going to answer it. Fair point. I
- 2:54Speaker 2: might still ask. Well, you can ask, but I might
- 2:56Speaker 2: still tell you where to put it if I don't
- 2:58Speaker 2: know where you got it.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Good for her. Very important rule. All you entertainers out
- 3:03Speaker 1: there listening, stay the hell away from politics. Hey, it's
- 3:06Speaker 1: nine weeks until the midterms. Yeah. It's just nine weeks away.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Got a lot of crazy candidates out there. You got
- 3:15Speaker 1: this guy, Telerico, running a crazy, crazy, crazy ad. President
- 3:21Speaker 1: Trump commenting about his crazy ad.
- 3:23Speaker 3: The Democrats have a weird, a weird chat today. God
- 3:28Speaker 3: is non-binary. There are many more than two biological sexes.
- 3:33Speaker 1: In fact, there are six.
- 3:34Speaker 3: It is now existential that We try to reduce our
- 3:38Speaker 3: meat consumption. The American flag is such a complicated symbol
- 3:42Speaker 3: for most of us. Prophetic voices like Jesus have helped
- 3:44Speaker 3: me reckon with my own whiteness, my own masculinity. Our
- 3:48Speaker 3: southern border should be like our front porch. There should
- 3:51Speaker 3: be a giant welcome mat out front.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Okay. Again, I think the Democrats are going to be
- 3:58Speaker 1: quite surprised in November as how this registers with normal people.
- 4:04Speaker 1: You know, that's the problem with a lot of these Democrats.
- 4:05Speaker 1: They They live in their own little bubble, no contact
- 4:09Speaker 1: with normal Americans and how they really feel. Now, Jill Biden,
- 4:17Speaker 1: Joe Biden, they've been known for years as the biggest
- 4:20Speaker 1: liars in politics. And every politician, Republican and Democrat will
- 4:25Speaker 1: tell you these two are the biggest liars ever. So
- 4:28Speaker 1: she does a podcast called You know, a lot of
- 4:32Speaker 1: people shouldn't be doing these things, especially if you're a liar,
- 4:35Speaker 1: if you've got stuff you're covering up. It's one thing
- 4:38Speaker 1: to do a five-minute radio interview, but do a podcast
- 4:41Speaker 1: where you've got to open up and talk for 90 minutes.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It's too revealing. And she's on the Jamie Kern Lima show.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Does anybody know what that is? That's how well she's doing.
- 4:56Speaker 1: You'll notice she's not on Joe Rogan for two hours.
- 5:00Speaker 1: And you'll notice she's not on any big shows. She's
- 5:02Speaker 1: on the Jamie Kern Lima show. Now, if somebody walked
- 5:07Speaker 1: in here and said, Jamie Kern Lima would like to
- 5:11Speaker 1: get you on her podcast, I would tell them to leave.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I don't know what that is and I don't want
- 5:15Speaker 1: to know. But apparently in Delaware, the phone rang and
- 5:21Speaker 1: somebody said to Jill Biden, hey, they want you on
- 5:23Speaker 1: the Jamie Kern Lima show. And she said, what time?
- 5:26Speaker 1: I'll do it. And there she is. So she talked
- 5:29Speaker 1: at great length. She was asked about whether she was
- 5:33Speaker 1: like Lady Macbeth pushing Joe Biden, pushing him to spend
- 5:37Speaker 1: four more years in the White House. Well, actually, we
- 5:40Speaker 1: know she was, and that's what she was accused of.
- 5:43Speaker 1: She was accused of elder abuse. I mean, this guy
- 5:45Speaker 1: was in bad shape. Remember the cabinet meeting where he
- 5:48Speaker 1: couldn't even talk? She had to run the meeting. I
- 5:52Speaker 1: remember him trying to walk off stage. He had to
- 5:55Speaker 1: make an announcement. They'd write it out for him in
- 5:57Speaker 1: big letters, and he'd read it slowly, and then He'd
- 6:01Speaker 1: turn around and he couldn't figure out how to get
- 6:03Speaker 1: off stage. And remember he'd bump into the wall and
- 6:06Speaker 1: remember he'd stick his hand out and shake hands with
- 6:08Speaker 1: thin air. There was nobody there. I mean, she should
- 6:11Speaker 1: have in the middle of the term, early in the term,
- 6:14Speaker 1: had him resign or something, just have him step down.
- 6:17Speaker 1: But she pushed him. She pushed him into running again,
- 6:21Speaker 1: kept him in the race. Remember, he was running. He
- 6:23Speaker 1: was a full campaign. Dead serious, full campaign for president.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Even agreed to a debate. He even did debate prep
- 6:32Speaker 1: for a couple weeks. Then he went on the debate
- 6:34Speaker 1: and he was a frozen vegetable. He was a babbling yo-yo.
- 6:37Speaker 1: And it was so bad that it was apparent to
- 6:40Speaker 1: everybody that he was out of it and he had
- 6:43Speaker 1: to drop out of the race. So they pushed him
- 6:46Speaker 1: out of the race. So, you know, of course, on
- 6:48Speaker 1: the podcast, she makes up a whole different story about
- 6:51Speaker 1: how she wanted him to drop out. She says she
- 6:55Speaker 1: hopes one day the true story of what happened will
- 6:58Speaker 1: come out. You know, she better hope not.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:00Speaker 1: She better hope that never comes out. She criticized negative
- 7:04Speaker 1: people who disparaged the Biden family. People put whatever twist
- 7:10Speaker 1: they want on it. Mostly it's negative. Unlike Donald Trump.
- 7:15Speaker 1: You never hear anybody say anything negative about Donald Trump.
- 7:18Speaker 1: She said she declined to give any advice. She said
- 7:23Speaker 1: when Joe asked whether he should stay in the race,
- 7:26Speaker 1: she declined to give any advice. Yeah, right. You ever
- 7:32Speaker 1: been around her? She gives you advice on everything. You
- 7:35Speaker 1: don't even have to ask. She's just a yenta who
- 7:38Speaker 1: never stops giving you advice, talking, telling you what to do.
- 7:42Speaker 1: She said, Joe asked her at one point, I said, Joe,
- 7:47Speaker 1: you've got to make this decision yourself. Whatever decision is made,
- 7:52Speaker 1: you have to be able to live with it. Now,
- 7:56Speaker 1: even if you don't know Jill Biden, go watch any
- 7:59Speaker 1: time where the two of them are in front of
- 8:00Speaker 1: reporters and he starts to answer and she jumps in
- 8:03Speaker 1: and answers for him. She's always telling this guy what
- 8:06Speaker 1: to do. Never, ever in her life did this woman
- 8:10Speaker 1: ever say to anybody, Oh, I don't know. You have
- 8:13Speaker 1: to make the decision. She's always telling them what to do. So, uh,
- 8:17Speaker 1: it's a big thing for, uh, what's her name? Jamie
- 8:19Speaker 1: Kern Lima show to get Jill Biden on. But, uh, Hey, uh,
- 8:24Speaker 1: I know if I'm, walking around this pumpkin spice stuff
- 8:28Speaker 1: is everywhere everywhere you go pumpkin spice this pumpkin spice
- 8:33Speaker 1: that what's the it's august it's august 27th so according
- 8:37Speaker 1: to this uh business report yes they are doing it
- 8:42Speaker 1: earlier than usual it's never this early it's never happened
- 8:45Speaker 1: this early earliest launch ever duncan is launching the whole
- 8:50Speaker 1: fall menu august 19th that's the earliest ever Starbucks brought
- 8:55Speaker 1: it back. The whole pumpkin spice nonsense all started on
- 9:00Speaker 1: August 25th. That is the earliest ever. You know, the
- 9:07Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles, apparently they need a new stadium and they're
- 9:10Speaker 1: threatening to move out of Philadelphia, suburbs or something. Their
- 9:14Speaker 1: lease at Lincoln Financial Field is up. Well, it's not
- 9:18Speaker 1: for six years, but they're already negotiating. You know, you
- 9:22Speaker 1: threaten to move, you threaten to leave, and then they
- 9:27Speaker 1: make a deal to get you a better stadium, all that.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Governor Shapiro vows he'll keep the Phillies in Philadelphia. He
- 9:37Speaker 1: will not let them leave. But that's common. You do
- 9:39Speaker 1: that to negotiate. Steinbrenner did that one year. Remember, he
- 9:42Speaker 1: was moving to New Jersey. Although, he really was moving, actually,
- 9:46Speaker 1: at one point. I was there for a lot of that. Yeah,
- 9:50Speaker 1: he was moving. And he was going to go to
- 9:54Speaker 1: the Meadowlands. The Yankees were going to go there. And
- 9:57Speaker 1: the final meeting was with the governor. was Jim Florio
- 10:00Speaker 1: at the time and it was George Steinbrenner Larry Fisher
- 10:07Speaker 1: Bill Fugazi some baseball but they took a helicopter they
- 10:09Speaker 1: went over there to the governor's mansion and they met
- 10:13Speaker 1: with Florio and he said why should we bring the
- 10:16Speaker 1: Yankees here and Steinbrenner goes what I got to beg you?
- 10:22Speaker 1: And they all just turned around and left. Got on
- 10:24Speaker 1: the helicopter and left. Boy, that flood in Nepal, the
- 10:28Speaker 1: China-Nepal border. Boy, if you see that video, it is frightening.
- 10:33Speaker 1: An enormous wall of water, hundreds of feet high, just
- 10:37Speaker 1: wipes out a whole town. Scary stuff. It's killed, so far,
- 10:42Speaker 1: we think 175 are dead, including 50 Americans. Now, this
- 10:47Speaker 1: is Nepal, and there's a big... Nepalese community in Queens.
- 10:52Speaker 1: So these would be people from there most likely. Just
- 10:56Speaker 1: a brutal situation. Chinese leader Xi Jinping said there'll be
- 11:02Speaker 1: an all-out search effort and they'll do everything they can.
- 11:06Speaker 1: If you're counting on Xi Jinping to help you out,
- 11:11Speaker 1: you're in real trouble. That's not going to go well
- 11:14Speaker 1: if you're really depending on him. Hey, the PGA has
- 11:17Speaker 1: suspended a golfer For betting on golf, can you imagine
- 11:21Speaker 1: trying to bet on golf? Boy, that is not easy
- 11:25Speaker 1: to do. You know, that's one thing about golf. You know,
- 11:27Speaker 1: the Yankees get on a winning streak. Football team's on
- 11:31Speaker 1: a winning streak. They're having a big season. You can't
- 11:34Speaker 1: predict anything with golf because whoever wins the big tournament
- 11:37Speaker 1: that week, wins the PGA, the big winner of the week,
- 11:41Speaker 1: the guy never wins again for like months. Study the
- 11:45Speaker 1: history of this. Whoever wins big, it's always... Never him
- 11:50Speaker 1: again the next week. There's nobody ever winning weeks in
- 11:53Speaker 1: a row because you can never predict. If you're a golfer,
- 11:56Speaker 1: you know what I mean. You go out there one day,
- 11:59Speaker 1: it's unbelievable the way you're hitting the ball. You go
- 12:01Speaker 1: out the next day, everything's terrible. You just can't predict golf.
- 12:05Speaker 1: But this guy's Matt Gogol, suspended for six months for
- 12:09Speaker 1: placing bets on PGA Tour events. He said he never
- 12:13Speaker 1: bet on any tour he was in, any tournament he
- 12:16Speaker 1: was in. Well, that doesn't help. Oh, hey, you remember
- 12:19Speaker 1: speaking of sports. You remember that owner of the 49ers?
- 12:22Speaker 1: This is the guy that got caught going to a prostitute.
- 12:27Speaker 1: It was pretty sleazy because he's a billionaire. He's worth
- 12:30Speaker 1: about $ 6 billion. The 49 owner is Jed York. Now,
- 12:34Speaker 1: the guy's worth $ 6 billion. If you own a team,
- 12:39Speaker 1: you are an NFL owner. You also got $ 6 billion.
- 12:43Speaker 1: You'd think it'd be pretty easy to find some women,
- 12:45Speaker 1: wouldn't you? You'd think it'd be pretty easy if you're
- 12:49Speaker 1: looking for sex. You're an NFL team owner. You got
- 12:52Speaker 1: $ 6 billion. Well, this guy goes to a trailer park.
- 12:57Speaker 1: He saw something online, a prostitute, $ 140, way out somewhere
- 13:03Speaker 1: in a trailer park. Now, what the hell is this
- 13:05Speaker 1: $ 6 billion guy doing going to this trailer park? Well,
- 13:09Speaker 1: he gets there, and he'd been back and forth texting
- 13:11Speaker 1: with the woman online. He gets there. And it's a
- 13:15Speaker 1: sting operation. It's cops. It's a sting operation. They arrest him.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Turns out the guy running this sting operation is a
- 13:21Speaker 1: pretty clever guy. Uh, I don't think this has really
- 13:24Speaker 1: been made public, but what was he going all the
- 13:28Speaker 1: way out there for? Is he got like a fetish
- 13:32Speaker 1: for Roseanne types and he goes to trailer parks. Now
- 13:36Speaker 1: it turns out, uh, This was going to be a
- 13:40Speaker 1: mother-daughter thing. That was this guy's fetish. I didn't realize
- 13:43Speaker 1: this is apparently it's a big fetish. Like if you
- 13:46Speaker 1: go to porn sites, that's a big category, mother-daughter. So
- 13:49Speaker 1: it's a big fetish to sleep with a mother and
- 13:51Speaker 1: daughter at the same time. So that's why he was
- 13:58Speaker 1: willing to go all the way out to this trailer park.
- 14:00Speaker 1: It was mother-daughter. And now if you think about that, well,
- 14:04Speaker 1: if it's a mother and daughter, that's two people. $ 140.
- 14:07Speaker 1: That means it's $ 70 a person? What kind of prostitute
- 14:12Speaker 1: are you getting for $ 70? Anyway, he got arrested. He's
- 14:17Speaker 1: a powerful NFL owner with billions of dollars. He's a
- 14:20Speaker 1: great lawyer. So they reduced the charges. Legally, he's gotten
- 14:26Speaker 1: reduced to disorderly conduct. He's going to pay a fine.
- 14:29Speaker 1: It's not going to go to prison. But now his
- 14:31Speaker 1: problem is the NFL. The NFL is now looking at it.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Roger Goodell says they're investigating. He said so far they
- 14:42Speaker 1: haven't found the actual violation of the rules, but he
- 14:46Speaker 1: said there is a rule on conduct, off-field conduct. So
- 14:53Speaker 1: he is going to probably have a problem with that.
- 14:55Speaker 1: So we'll see if this guy... It's usually up to
- 15:00Speaker 1: the other owners. I know there's a commissioner and everything,
- 15:03Speaker 1: but all the other owners... It's like a cartel. They
- 15:06Speaker 1: all get together and decide. So it depends. If they
- 15:08Speaker 1: really like this guy, they'll give him a pass. If
- 15:10Speaker 1: they don't like this guy, he'll be forced to sell
- 15:12Speaker 1: the team. And I don't know that much about it.
- 15:15Speaker 1: If he's liked by other owners, they'll fight for him.
- 15:18Speaker 1: If he's not liked by other owners, they'll use this
- 15:21Speaker 1: as an excuse to get him out of there. Hey,
- 15:23Speaker 1: we'll take some calls next. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 15:25Speaker 3: 800-321-0710.
