May 2 - A Heart That Honors God · Bible Chat Devotional

• 0:02
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, May 2nd.
• 0:10
Guard your heart. Grow your life.
• 0:13
What if the life you are building is not mostly shaped by
• 0:16
the big moments everyone sees, but by the small responses?
• 0:19
No one notices the way you handle correction, the way you
• 0:24
respond when you're stressed, the way you treat people when
• 0:27
you're tired, the choices you make when no one is checking on
• 0:30
  you. All of it matters.
• 0:33
Proverbs chapter 15 verses 12 to 13 says, a scoffer does not like
• 0:38
to be reproved. He will not go to the wise.
• 0:41
A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the
• 0:44
spirit is crushed. Psalm chapter 50, verse 15 says,
• 0:49
call to me in the day of trouble.
• 0:50
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.
• 0:54
And 1st Corinthians chapter 3, verse 13 says each one's work
• 0:58
will become manifest for the day, will disclose it because it
• 1:02
will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of
• 1:06
work each one is done. That is a serious thought, but
• 1:09
it is also full of hope. God is not just watching what
• 1:13
you build. He is helping you build what
• 1:15
lasts. He calls you to be teachable,
• 1:17
not because He wants to embarrass you, but because He
• 1:20
wants you to grow. He calls you to joy not because
• 1:24
life is always easy, but because your heart can be anchored in
• 1:28
Him even when your circumstances feel heavy.
• 1:31
Maybe today you are dealing with pressure at school, tension at
• 1:34
home, drama with friends, uncertainty about your future,
• 1:38
or private battles no one knows about.
• 1:41
God does not ask you to pretend everything is fine.
• 1:44
He says, call to me in the day of trouble.
• 1:47
He invites you to bring Him the real struggle, the real fear,
• 1:50
the real frustration. And as you do, He teaches you to
• 1:54
build differently. Not on pride, not on impulse,
• 1:57
not on temporary attention, but on humility, wisdom, joy, and
• 2:01
  faithfulness. Let's pray, Heavenly Father,
• 2:05
help me guard my heart and build my life on what matters to You.
• 2:08
Make me teachable when correction comes, joyful when
• 2:11
life feels heavy, and faithful in the choices I make each day.
• 2:16
When I am in trouble, remind me to call on You.
• 2:18
Instead of carrying everything alone, build something lasting
• 2:21
in me for your glory in Jesus name, Amen.
• 2:26
What if the battles hitting your family are not random and your
• 2:29
home can become a place where darkness loses every right to
• 2:32
stay? The Secured Home is a powerful

Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
• 3:32
Bible reading plan. Proverbs chapter 15 verses 12 to
• 3:38
13 World English Bible A scoffer doesn't love to be reproved.
• 3:43
He will not go to the wise. A glad heart makes a cheerful
• 3:47
face, but an aching heart breaks the spirit.
• 3:49
Psalm Chapter 50 World English Bible A Psalm by a SAF.
• 3:55
The mighty One God, Yahweh speaks and calls the earth from
• 3:58
sunrise to sunset. Out of Zion the perfection of
• 4:02
beauty God shines out. Our God comes and does not keep
• 4:05
silent. A fire devours before him.
• 4:09
It is very stormy around him. He calls to the heavens above,
• 4:13
to the earth, that he may judge His people.
• 4:16
Gather my Saints together to me, those who have made a covenant
• 4:19
with me by sacrifice. The heavens shall declare His
• 4:23
righteousness, for God himself is judge.
• 4:26
Selah here my people, and I will speak.
• 4:29
Israel, I will testify against you.
• 4:31
I am God, your God. I don't rebuke you for your
• 4:34
  sacrifices. Your burnt offerings are
• 4:36
continually before me. I have no need for a bull from
• 4:40
your stall, nor male goats from your pens.
• 4:43
For every animal of the forest is mine, and the livestock on
• 4:46
1000 hills I know all the birds of the mountains, the wild
• 4:51
animals of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I would not
• 4:55
tell you, for the world is mine and all that is in it.
• 4:58
Will I eat the meat of bulls or drink the blood of goats?
• 5:02
Offer to God the sacrifice of Thanksgiving.
• 5:05
Pay your vows to the Most High. Call on me in the day of
• 5:08
trouble. I will deliver you, and you will
• 5:11
honor me. But to the wicked God says, What
• 5:14
right do you have to declare my statutes, that you have taken my
• 5:17
covenant on your lips, since you hate instruction, and throw my
• 5:21
words behind you? When you saw a thief, you
• 5:25
consented with him and have participated with adulterers.
• 5:28
You give your mouth to evil, your tongue frames deceit.
• 5:32
You sit and speak against your brother.
• 5:34
You slander your own mother's son.
• 5:37
You have done these things, and I kept silent.
• 5:39
You thought that I was just like you.
• 5:41
I will rebuke you and accuse you in front of your eyes.
• 5:45
Now consider this, You forget God, lest I tear you into pieces
• 5:49
and there be no one to deliver. Whoever offers the sacrifice of
• 5:53
Thanksgiving glorifies me and prepares his way so that I will
• 5:57
show God's salvation to him. First Corinthians chapter 3
• 6:01
World English Bible Brothers, I couldn't speak to you as to
• 6:06
spiritual, but as to fleshly, as to babies in Christ.
• 6:10
I fed you with milk, not with solid food, for you weren't yet
• 6:13
ready. Indeed you aren't ready even
• 6:16
now, for you are still fleshly. For insofar as there is
• 6:19
jealousy, strife, and factions among you, aren't you fleshly?
• 6:23
And don't you walk in the ways of men?
• 6:26
For when one says I follow Paul and another I follow Apollo's,
• 6:30
aren't you fleshly? Who then is Apollo's?
• 6:32
And who is Paul? But servants through whom you
• 6:35
believed, And each as the Lord gave to him.
• 6:38
I planted, Apollo's watered, but God gave the increase.
• 6:42
So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but
• 6:46
God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who
• 6:50
waters are the same, but each will receive his own reward
• 6:53
according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers.
• 6:57
You are God's farming, God's building, according to the grace
• 7:01
of God which was given to me as a wise master builder.
• 7:05
I laid a foundation and another builds on it.
• 7:08
But let each man be careful how he builds on it, for no one can
• 7:12
lay any other foundation than that which has been laid, which
• 7:16
is Jesus Christ. But if anyone builds on the
• 7:19
foundation with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or
• 7:24
straw, each man's work will be revealed for the day.
• 7:28
We'll declare it because it is revealed in fire, and the fire
• 7:32
itself will test what sort of work each man's work is.
• 7:36
If any man's work remains which he built on it, he will receive
• 7:39
a reward. If any man's work is burned, he
• 7:42
will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved.
• 7:45
But as through fire, don't you know that you are God's temple
• 7:49
and that God's Spirit lives in you?
• 7:51
If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him.
• 7:54
For God's temple is holy, which you are.
• 7:57
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone thinks that he is wise
• 8:02
among you in this world, let him become a fool, that he may
• 8:05
become wise. For the wisdom of this world is
• 8:08
foolishness with God. For it is written, he has taken
• 8:12
the wise in their craftiness. And again, the Lord knows the
• 8:15
reasoning of the wise, that it is worthless.
• 8:18
Therefore let no one boast in men, for all things are yours,
• 8:22
whether Paul or Apollo's, or Cephas, or the world, or life,
• 8:26
or death, or things present, or things to come, all are yours,
• 8:30
and you are Christ S and Christ is God's.
