- 1:33Speaker 2: Hello and welcome to Fandomonium, the pop culture panel show
- 1:36Speaker 2: that shines a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your
- 1:40Speaker 2: games master and naturally skeptic member of the scientific community,
- 1:44Speaker 2: Matt Watson. But a games master needs games, and games
- 1:47Speaker 2: need players, and we have a fantastic cast lineup for
- 1:51Speaker 2: you today, so please welcome. First, he is a podcaster,
- 1:54Speaker 2: voice artist, and pin designer. And if they were encrypted,
- 1:57Speaker 2: they'd be the Oga Pogo because they're Canaan and wet.
- 2:01Speaker 1: It's Drew.
- 2:03Speaker 4: It's me. I wish I could like blur my camera
- 2:05Speaker 4: for this entire recording and just be kind of like
- 2:07Speaker 4: always had a focus for you.
- 2:10Speaker 2: And they are an actor, writer and performance Maverick. And
- 2:14Speaker 2: if they were a cryptid they'd be the Beast of
- 2:16Speaker 2: Bodmin more because they're British and slim Bodmin Bodmin.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it's aide watn't.
- 2:23Speaker 5: It's we have very few cryptids, so I'm glad that
- 2:27Speaker 5: you pulled a deep cut out for that.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Yeah, the British cryptids. Yeah, they're not exactly Well, there's nessy,
- 2:35Speaker 2: but that's it's.
- 2:36Speaker 5: Like we've got like the star and then everything else
- 2:39Speaker 5: is just like there's a ghost weaseling upon, like.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Who may come up? Welcome Drew, Welcome Aidan. How you
- 2:49Speaker 2: both doing?
- 2:50Speaker 4: I'm doing fantastic. It's the post holiday recovery. Everyone's done
- 2:53Speaker 4: being jovial. We're all back to being miserable. So let's
- 2:56Speaker 4: look at magical things.
- 2:57Speaker 1: We like, Yes, what about yourself?
- 3:00Speaker 4: Aidan?
- 3:01Speaker 5: Happy to join everyone on a cryptid hunt? I assume
- 3:04Speaker 5: that's what we're doing.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yesrypt hunt?
- 3:08Speaker 4: Yes? Great?
- 3:09Speaker 2: Whoever bags the biggest foot win? All right, well we
- 3:14Speaker 2: are here to talk about cryptids. If you couldn't tell
- 3:17Speaker 2: by our copious references throughout that opening, Drew, you're your
- 3:21Speaker 2: host of Carrying Wayward the Supernatural podcast. Surely there's lots
- 3:24Speaker 2: of cryptids that show up in that.
- 3:26Speaker 4: There is, But there's also like so many that I'm
- 3:29Speaker 4: aware of that I've been like, oh, I can't wait
- 3:30Speaker 4: till we encounter this obscure one, and Marry my co
- 3:33Speaker 4: host just goes like we maybe don't. I'm like, how
- 3:37Speaker 4: how do you make up so much bull crap? But like,
- 3:39Speaker 4: don't use these ones? So it's been frustrating that I'm like,
- 3:42Speaker 4: there's so many good ones out there they just did
- 3:44Speaker 4: not use. But then I see the way they handle
- 3:46Speaker 4: most of them, and I'm like, maybe I'm happier they didn't.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Okay, fair enough, Yeah, fifteen seasons, you'd think they'd have
- 3:51Speaker 2: used all of them. Seriously, but cryptids in general, Drew,
- 3:55Speaker 2: are you are you a fan?
- 3:56Speaker 4: Big fan? Honestly? I like, literally, I don't have a
- 3:59Speaker 4: pin on the I usually do, but I've got the
- 4:01Speaker 4: sticker on my fridge for the Cryptozoology Museum in America
- 4:05Speaker 4: that has a bunch of the actual, like original pieces
- 4:07Speaker 4: of evidence from the big footcase, including the original tape,
- 4:10Speaker 4: the guy's camera, and his hat that he took. There
- 4:12Speaker 4: was warring when he took the video.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Gotta have the hat, that's the important part. Still smells like.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Big on the droppings. They have so many droppings, so.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Many big Foot droppings. They're like rabbit droppings, but giant Aidan.
- 4:28Speaker 2: What about you? Are you you a fan of cryptids.
- 4:31Speaker 5: I'm a fan of cryptids in general. I really like
- 4:34Speaker 5: sort of modern folklore and the kind of the stories
- 4:39Speaker 5: that people come up with for them. I'm I'm a
- 4:41Speaker 5: particular fan of one cryptid and I'll just wat try
- 4:44Speaker 5: and get it in the frame. I've got a little
- 4:47Speaker 5: little Mothman tattoo. I'm just a real big fan of
- 4:53Speaker 5: Mothman in general. I love a cryptid that is is
- 4:56Speaker 5: generally portrayed as like benevolent and just kind of like
- 5:00Speaker 5: chill dude, and he's a sexy guy. I'll just say it.
- 5:06Speaker 5: We'll just get that out when the open straight away,
- 5:07Speaker 5: just so no one's like, you know, wondering when they
- 5:09Speaker 5: should say it.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Everyone was just holding their breath real quick because I'm
- 5:18Speaker 2: not too familiar with Mothmon. How is Mothman benevolent? What's
- 5:21Speaker 2: the benevolent nature of Like.
- 5:22Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure a big part of his low folk
- 5:26Speaker 5: or otherwise is that he appears before like disasters happened,
- 5:30Speaker 5: and like a lot of people interpret that as he's
- 5:32Speaker 5: like trying to warn people that. Like so, like I
- 5:36Speaker 5: think the famous one was like a bridge collapse in
- 5:37Speaker 5: West Virginia. Weell like he he was there was like
- 5:40Speaker 5: multiple sightings in the days leading up to it, and
- 5:42Speaker 5: then the bridge collapsed.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Interesting, Okay, I wonder what the actual explanation of that was.
- 5:48Speaker 4: No, it's really hard.
- 5:53Speaker 6: Mothman was there planting explosives on the bridge for a
- 5:56Speaker 6: few days before it collapsed. That bridge was an asshole.
- 6:01Speaker 6: It was benevolent. I mean, if you're gonna blow up
- 6:03Speaker 6: a bridge dressing up as a cryptid so that no
- 6:06Speaker 6: one believes a plan, I'm gonna moth Man.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:13Speaker 2: If you're thinking about resisting tyrannical government in these times,
- 6:16Speaker 2: dress up as Bigfoot.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Get it done well.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I think you'll make a fantastic team Drew and Aiden,
- 6:20Speaker 2: but you will need some opponents, some rival bigfoot chasers.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Let's meet them.
- 6:25Speaker 2: He is a podcaster, comic book creator, and writer, and
- 6:28Speaker 2: if he were acrypted, he'd be the kind that slaughters
- 6:31Speaker 2: your goats.
- 6:32Speaker 1: It's Ben Robinson. I do that, you do do that?
- 6:38Speaker 1: And he is a.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Podcaster, comic book creator, and artist, and if he were encrypted,
- 6:42Speaker 2: he'd be the kind that would leave you little drawings
- 6:45Speaker 2: of goats that make you go.
- 6:47Speaker 1: It's John Williams.
- 6:49Speaker 4: I love it.
- 6:50Speaker 7: I've been sitting here anticipating that.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Wonderful.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Oh fantastic.
- 6:55Speaker 2: It's good to have the geeksploor boys together on the
- 6:57Speaker 2: same team. How are you both doing great?
- 7:00Speaker 7: Yeah, doing well, wonderful. I'm excited. I'm I was really bummed.
- 7:03Speaker 7: I do exist after I'm missing the Sherlock Holmes episode
- 7:07Speaker 7: disappearing like that. But but I am, I'm very happy
- 7:11Speaker 7: to be back on This is gonna be fun.
- 7:13Speaker 1: No, I'm so glad to have you back. Glad.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Your eyes are doing a little better. Is that Is
- 7:18Speaker 2: that fair to say the date.
- 7:20Speaker 7: They're they're pretty much back to the normal shitty they
- 7:23Speaker 7: were before surgery. So yeah, I can function, I can drive.
- 7:27Speaker 7: I just can't see the little faces on the screen
- 7:29Speaker 7: very well.
- 7:30Speaker 1: That's okay.
- 7:31Speaker 2: You don't need to see these, yeah, unless you do
- 7:34Speaker 2: want to see them and then Patreon dot com forward
- 7:36Speaker 2: slash Gate leapers. Okay, Ben, you submitted this as a
- 7:42Speaker 2: potential topic cryptids, so I assume you're a cryptids fan.
- 7:46Speaker 6: Uh, yeah, I am. I Like it was more of
- 7:48Speaker 6: like this would be a really cool fandom to fuck
- 7:50Speaker 6: around in, you know, like because it is kind of
- 7:52Speaker 6: non conventional. But when I was a kid, I wanted
- 7:55Speaker 6: to be a paleontologist, and then when I flirted with college,
- 7:58Speaker 6: I was doing so in pursuit of a zoology degree.
- 8:02Speaker 6: It's like I've always had a like a a fascination
- 8:05Speaker 6: with animals, and you know, the ones that you can't
- 8:09Speaker 6: see and that you may or may not exist. Have
- 8:11Speaker 6: always been super interesting, so.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Very good early interest.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Maybe you'll have plenty of plenty of knowledge on the
- 8:20Speaker 2: hidden zoological creatures of our world.
- 8:23Speaker 1: John, what about yourself? You a fan of cryptids?
- 8:26Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, I'm a fan of what if scenarios and
- 8:30Speaker 7: creatures and you know, like conspiracy theory and just just
- 8:35Speaker 7: things that people don't believe, but things that some people
- 8:39Speaker 7: believe wholeheartedly are really entertaining.
- 8:41Speaker 4: They're fun.
- 8:41Speaker 7: They're just fun to entertain as if as if, you know,
- 8:45Speaker 7: why not, what if they existed? Like does Bigfoot exist?
- 8:48Speaker 7: Probably not, but it'd be really cool if he did,
- 8:51Speaker 7: so I'll believe.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Yeah, totally.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely taps into that kind of like I feel
- 8:55Speaker 2: like cryptids are the safe space conspiracy theory. Like in
- 8:59Speaker 2: recent decades, conspiracy theories have made it to the top
- 9:02Speaker 2: level of government, but cryptids remain fun.
- 9:06Speaker 4: Y is nice. It's the fact that every couple of
- 9:08Speaker 4: years we find out like, oh, yeah, that thing we
- 9:10Speaker 4: thought was a cryptid, like, turns out there's a small
- 9:13Speaker 4: colony of them in some obscure island. They're actually real. Surprise,
- 9:16Speaker 4: We'll put one in a zoo, Like it's happened like
- 9:19Speaker 4: three or four times the last like dozen years later.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Why don't you tell us what they are? I will
- 9:26Speaker 4: make up a bunch of names right now, did dreap
- 9:30Speaker 4: of Cabra the Man? Yeah?
- 9:37Speaker 1: I know that works through all the names.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Oh god, I've been doing this all day. I'm with
- 9:44Speaker 4: bad puns for things.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Oh, yes, we'll save We'll save that for the next
- 9:48Speaker 2: format point. Yes, John Ben, thank you so much for
- 9:52Speaker 2: joining us. I think you'll make a fantastic team. I
- 9:54Speaker 2: say it as order is not here. It's it's me.
- 9:57Speaker 2: You're joining me.
- 9:58Speaker 1: It's royal, it's the royal way.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Okay, Teams, You're out camping in the middle of the
- 10:04Speaker 2: wilderness when someone hears a strange noise from outside of
- 10:07Speaker 2: the tent. This is a piece of fiction, so you
- 10:09Speaker 2: of course leave the tent to go investigate. You hear
- 10:12Speaker 2: sounds like hello and welcome, And let's take a look
- 10:16Speaker 2: at those scores and realize you are being stalked by
- 10:19Speaker 2: a British podcast game show host the worst kind of monster. So,
- 10:23Speaker 2: in order to keep it at bay, I'd like each
- 10:25Speaker 2: pair to come up with a cryptid themed team name.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Please. Let's start with Drew and Adam.
- 10:30Speaker 4: What you got Okay, I'm gonna throw it out right away.
- 10:33Speaker 4: I have a list. But in you trying to come
- 10:35Speaker 4: up with a fun pun on your name, I think
- 10:37Speaker 4: I fell into an even better team name, the moth Maidens.
- 10:41Speaker 5: Yeah I was my mine was also related to to
- 10:44Speaker 5: playing around with Mothman's gender because it was Mothman. Sorry,
- 10:50Speaker 5: I mean they, But I really like that.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Like titles, I have a bad list, may I yeah?
- 11:03Speaker 6: Please please?
- 11:04Speaker 4: Okay, So the moth Damns, Big Wiki Feats, Hello Walkness,
- 11:12Speaker 4: my old friend LGMS, Let's guess Mate, the Jersey Shore
- 11:17Speaker 4: Devil Crack and D's Nuts don't give me no Backsasquatch,
- 11:23Speaker 4: the Chooper Cadabras, that what I really is a stretch.
- 11:26Speaker 4: But my favorite is the spaettios. I couldn't sleep last
- 11:35Speaker 4: night on.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Gummies and what a fantastic project. It was, yielding many
- 11:41Speaker 2: options for team names. Aid, are you liking any of those?
- 11:44Speaker 2: It can be the first one that was suggested.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Yeah, the marth Maidens is my favorite, I think.
- 11:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I do like, I do like math Maidens. There
- 11:50Speaker 5: was another compact one. I can't remember which one it was,
- 11:53Speaker 5: but I enjoyed all of that. I think it was
- 11:55Speaker 5: crack and D's nuts.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Was I think between the two, I think I like
- 12:00Speaker 4: moth Maidens better.
- 12:01Speaker 5: I think I think if there's a buzz around, then
- 12:03Speaker 5: it's easier to shout moth Maidens than it is.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Cracking these nuts.
- 12:07Speaker 1: That's true. That's true. If there's a buzz around.
- 12:12Speaker 4: If if the one thing he's done every game ever
- 12:15Speaker 4: is in this one game also, that would be brilliant
- 12:18Speaker 4: of us year.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Yeah, we could change it up.
- 12:23Speaker 4: We won't.
- 12:24Speaker 1: It's the moth Maidens.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Let's find out who they'll be facing, though, Ben John,
- 12:29Speaker 2: you want.
- 12:29Speaker 4: To take it? Sure?
- 12:30Speaker 6: Sure, I've got a bunch of low hanging fruit, the
- 12:33Speaker 6: kind of the kind of names that Met specifically said
- 12:36Speaker 6: he wanted to see less of.
- 12:37Speaker 4: And then.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I knew this would come back to bite me.
- 12:42Speaker 4: Tried.
- 12:44Speaker 6: I've got the goat Suckers, because that's what Chupacabra means,
- 12:48Speaker 6: the Wenda Gooner's, the big Foot Owners, the Skancapes, the
- 12:54Speaker 6: foreskin Walkers, the Crypto, and finally yet another Kraken team.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Name the one two punch in that one that is
- 13:07Speaker 1: fucking brilliant.
- 13:07Speaker 7: Man, very good, Well, I didn't I didn't get the
- 13:11Speaker 7: memo about low hanging fruit. I must have missed it,
- 13:13Speaker 7: like most of the other Discord messages. So I've got
- 13:17Speaker 7: I've got some of those high lemons, I've got large hand,
- 13:21Speaker 7: We've got the the folsome lake monsters.
- 13:24Speaker 4: We're both from Folesome.
- 13:26Speaker 7: I've put on a little weight since surgery, so I
- 13:28Speaker 7: was thinking the fupa cabras, and then I also had
- 13:34Speaker 7: a pardon the mispronunciation, potentially the lepidoptera dudes.
- 13:40Speaker 2: That's that's excellent wordplay, even if the mispronunciation is that.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I mean, I like a lot of those, But which
- 13:48Speaker 2: one do you think you're can go for?
- 13:50Speaker 6: Are any of them speaking to you?
- 13:51Speaker 4: John, I'm trying to remember all of yours. I liked.
- 13:54Speaker 7: I liked Wenda Gooner's that was fun. The foreskin Walkers
- 13:59Speaker 7: is I don't think I want to have lepidoptera quire.
- 14:08Speaker 4: That's not gonna work. I'm sure Matt Matt's so bund
- 14:10Speaker 4: he wants to say that like thirty times today.
- 14:14Speaker 6: I mean, of those two, I got foreskin Walkers anger, Kay,
- 14:16Speaker 6: let's do it.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:17Speaker 2: I don't think that will be the first time that
- 14:19Speaker 2: someone's had to yell foreskin as a as a.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I think that's happened before.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Probably with Ben. I was gonna say, I'm betting was
- 14:28Speaker 4: probably one of these two.
- 14:29Speaker 7: If anything, Yeah, I was like if if, if we
- 14:31Speaker 7: go back on our previous appearances, like there's probably a
- 14:35Speaker 7: through line with team names.
- 14:39Speaker 2: And despite what I said on our recap review episode,
- 14:41Speaker 2: I love it, give me more. Okay, all right, if
- 14:44Speaker 2: you're listening to this and thinking, I know the one
- 14:47Speaker 2: with the big feet and maybe.
- 14:49Speaker 1: The Scottish dinosaur.
- 14:50Speaker 2: That's enough about Sean Connery. So his three with a
- 14:53Speaker 2: little segment we like to call passing knowledge.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Cryptids are the subject matter of crypto zoology. They study
- 14:59Speaker 4: in research dedicated to creatures whose existence is debated or unproven.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Cryptids themselves range from cultural myths and folklore to aliens
- 15:06Speaker 4: hiding among us. Whatever flavor of cryptid, there is always
- 15:08Speaker 4: some urban legend or story floating around about somebody who
- 15:11Speaker 4: saw at one time or had a close encounter and
- 15:15Speaker 4: maybe met something that truly understood them and taught them
- 15:17Speaker 4: what love truly is. I mean some people, this maybe
- 15:21Speaker 4: happened to an evidence. Yes, in rare cases, even photos
- 15:25Speaker 4: or videos of them have surfaced. Some of these alleged
- 15:27Speaker 4: beasts are as hyper specific as living in one particular
- 15:30Speaker 4: lake or woods, to as widespread as entire continents. One
- 15:34Speaker 4: thing that makes this category of creatures just so interesting,
- 15:36Speaker 4: outside of Mothman being a caked up hotty, is the
- 15:39Speaker 4: fact that there have been many cases of creatures once
- 15:41Speaker 4: thought to be cryptids actually being discovered to be real,
- 15:44Speaker 4: just well hidden or near extinct. This constant battle between
- 15:48Speaker 4: skeptics and the lovers of these glorious, majestic and sexy
- 15:51Speaker 4: things means that what we may never know for sure
- 15:53Speaker 4: which ones are real and which are just refusing to
- 15:55Speaker 4: call me back. What we do know is one thing
- 15:57Speaker 4: is that we're about to play an episode of fandemonium.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Yes, thank you, Drew. A lot to unpack, there shall
- 16:03Speaker 2: we unpack it. I've been the right team, is all
- 16:06Speaker 2: I can say.
- 16:08Speaker 4: It's okay, don't call me back one day.
- 16:12Speaker 2: There are definitely some fandoms where I'm like, Okay, one
- 16:15Speaker 2: of the teams is going to be the horny team
- 16:16Speaker 2: for this. How this is going to work out cryptids
- 16:19Speaker 2: wasn't up there, but it should have been fantastic, Drew,
- 16:23Speaker 2: Thank you so much for that. I think we're all
- 16:25Speaker 2: we all know everything we need to know now that's it.
- 16:27Speaker 2: We're just before we get to today's games. I've asked
- 16:31Speaker 2: each player to bring in a muse, something that inspires
- 16:34Speaker 2: them or something they love from this particular fandom. Cryptids
- 16:37Speaker 2: are inspiring to me because they're an acceptable form of
- 16:40Speaker 2: conspiracy theory, like the cryptid called Stanley Kubrick who faked
- 16:43Speaker 2: the moon landing, or that cryptid called George Bush who
- 16:46Speaker 2: can melt steel beams, or Peter Teal who just looks
- 16:50Speaker 2: like a cryptid. Ben We'll start with you. What's inspiring
- 16:54Speaker 2: you from the world of cryptlids? Sorry cryptids?
- 16:57Speaker 6: Ah, So as a measure. When I was a kid,
- 16:59Speaker 6: I was I wanted to be a paleontologist, and I
- 17:01Speaker 6: remember hearing about NeSSI the Lochness Monster, and like seeing
- 17:06Speaker 6: that famous you know, the famous picture of its head
- 17:08Speaker 6: sticking out of the water, and thinking, motherfucker, that's a
- 17:12Speaker 6: PLEASEI asaur. There are dinosaurs in Scotland. And I was
- 17:16Speaker 6: so excited. I was like, there's it's possible that there's
- 17:18Speaker 6: a living day like maybe it was just hanging out
- 17:20Speaker 6: in uh in the bottom of Loch Ness. It's real
- 17:23Speaker 6: deep and they've just been pairing off ever since and
- 17:25Speaker 6: so Nessie was like my first foray into cryptids, and
- 17:30Speaker 6: then in UH in two thousand and after after I
- 17:34Speaker 6: graduated high school because I'm old there.
- 17:37Speaker 4: It is.
- 17:40Speaker 6: The UH we went to. We went to Europe, and
- 17:42Speaker 6: I ended up going to lockness not seeing NeSSI, but
- 17:46Speaker 6: I did get I did buy this lovely little Nessy
- 17:49Speaker 6: figurine that someone was selling like that I'm sure is
- 17:54Speaker 6: anatomically correct in most.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Yeah, that's NeSSI.
- 17:59Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yes, sticking a side up. So that
- 18:02Speaker 6: is my muse, my little NeSSI figurine.
- 18:04Speaker 1: She's going to be fantastic.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Always love a physical muse, always, especially when it's like
- 18:09Speaker 2: attached to a trip of vacation. That's great. It does
- 18:13Speaker 2: have like souvenir knickknack written.
- 18:15Speaker 1: All over here.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fantastic. I'm sure it will be a very
- 18:20Speaker 2: inspiring ornament for these games to come. Let's move on
- 18:24Speaker 2: over to your four skin Walkers teammate, John, what's inspiring
- 18:27Speaker 2: you about cryptids?
- 18:28Speaker 1: Yes, that is your name.
- 18:31Speaker 7: Unfortunately I don't have a physical representation of it because
- 18:35Speaker 7: it no longer exists. But something growing up in the
- 18:38Speaker 7: States that we had was I mean, everyone has their
- 18:41Speaker 7: their equivalent of it. Whether it's the Sun or the Inquirer.
- 18:44Speaker 7: I think it's the Sun. But we had the Weekly
- 18:46Speaker 7: World News, and that was on every grocery store magazine
- 18:52Speaker 7: rack while you're sitting there waiting for them to scan
- 18:54Speaker 7: your groceries. It had bat Boy, it had Bigfoot, it
- 18:58Speaker 7: had NeSSI. It had so many more that I don't
- 19:00Speaker 7: want to name in case they come up later in
- 19:02Speaker 7: a game.
- 19:02Speaker 4: I don't want anything. Well, that's that.
- 19:04Speaker 7: That was where all the all the conspiracy and all
- 19:07Speaker 7: the cryptids, like all the fun stories came from. That
- 19:10Speaker 7: was such a fun little I guess it was a magazine,
- 19:14Speaker 7: but it was like news print, you know. It was
- 19:16Speaker 7: just really really cheap, and it was so much fun
- 19:19Speaker 7: to look at growing up, Elvis sidings, you know, that
- 19:22Speaker 7: sort of thing.
- 19:23Speaker 6: I had description to the Weekly World News for a while,
- 19:26Speaker 6: I didn't even think.
- 19:27Speaker 7: About I had a backup because I figured Ben might
- 19:32Speaker 7: use that.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Okay, Well, I love that as a as a muse.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I love thinking about the egregious fake news that was
- 19:38Speaker 2: before fake news, where it was just like so obviously, yeah,
- 19:42Speaker 2: this is about cryptids. And I don't think the Sun
- 19:45Speaker 2: is an exact comparison, but everything in it is bullshit.
- 19:48Speaker 4: So it all right.
- 19:53Speaker 2: That's fantastic, John, Just real quick, what was your what
- 19:55Speaker 2: was your backup?
- 19:56Speaker 7: My backup was the movie Harry and the Hendersons. I
- 19:58Speaker 7: grew up with that movie and I love it to
- 20:00Speaker 7: pieces with John Litto and uh big for Harry Yeah yeah, Bigfoot.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Yeah. I always was that a movie. I always thought
- 20:08Speaker 2: it was a sitcom.
- 20:10Speaker 4: They made it come out of it.
- 20:12Speaker 7: They Yeah, it wasn't as good as the k Yeah,
- 20:14Speaker 7: it was not as good as it was also a
- 20:16Speaker 7: Universal Studios attraction where you could do like a little
- 20:19Speaker 7: they had a video that you would like make sound
- 20:22Speaker 7: effects for. It was like like a become part of
- 20:24Speaker 7: the movie sort of thing. And I did that too.
- 20:27Speaker 7: It's fun turned to crank to make like.
- 20:28Speaker 2: An turning a crank because you're also old.
- 20:36Speaker 4: Back in my day everything was crank powered.
- 20:39Speaker 2: No, that's a fantastic mus John, And thank you for
- 20:41Speaker 2: the backup news as well. So we get a Harry
- 20:42Speaker 2: and the Henderson's reference into the Cryptids episode. All right,
- 20:46Speaker 2: let's let's move on over to the muff Maidens. Adam,
- 20:50Speaker 2: what's inspiring you from the world of Cryptids.
- 20:52Speaker 5: I already mentioned my Mothman tattoo, but I think I'm
- 20:56Speaker 5: gonna go a bit broader and just like artist depictions
- 21:00Speaker 5: of cryptids in general, I really love how varied they
- 21:04Speaker 5: can get. The Trooper Carbre is a really good example,
- 21:06Speaker 5: because sometimes it looks like an actual animal that could exist.
- 21:10Speaker 5: But one of the more famous ones is just like
- 21:12Speaker 5: a weird little goblin dude with like a like big teeth,
- 21:18Speaker 5: the kind of like like like something that they would
- 21:20Speaker 5: put in an episode of The Simpsons or something like.
- 21:22Speaker 5: That's the only way I can describe it. But yeah,
- 21:25Speaker 5: I just love the variations, and like especially the I
- 21:29Speaker 5: don't know, like I'm aware that County is like a
- 21:32Speaker 5: bigger swear in America than here Bigfoot. Bigfoot's County little
- 21:36Speaker 5: pose because it's like there was no need, even if
- 21:42Speaker 5: it is a hoax, there was no need for the
- 21:44Speaker 5: person in the suit to give it a little like oh,
- 21:49Speaker 5: but I really appreciate that they made that choice.
- 21:52Speaker 1: That's such a good observation.
- 21:53Speaker 4: I feel like I had like a cryptid feed like
- 21:56Speaker 4: runway on a drag race at some point, and like
- 21:57Speaker 4: they all pulled that pose. It was like such a.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Joke, fantastic.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't think that exact same thing, but that
- 22:04Speaker 2: I was hyper focused on the pause when I was
- 22:07Speaker 2: watching the video earlier this week and just being like,
- 22:10Speaker 2: that's so obviously fake because of that pause.
- 22:13Speaker 4: That that's the old wood defense mechanism. Make yourself seem
- 22:16Speaker 4: so fake. No one believes you're real.
- 22:18Speaker 1: That's true. That's true.
- 22:20Speaker 2: So aiden you're inspired by Bigfoot's County pose.
- 22:25Speaker 5: I think it was artist depictions that yeah, yeah, but
- 22:29Speaker 5: well yeah, depicting.
- 22:31Speaker 4: Themselves as an artist. I'm just saying it's qualifies.
- 22:35Speaker 8: Uh.
- 22:36Speaker 2: And I thought we were going to have the record
- 22:38Speaker 2: number of sea bombs in the last episode.
- 22:39Speaker 1: But this could get worse.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Yeah, And last but not least, drew what's inspiring you
- 22:45Speaker 2: from the world of cryptids.
- 22:47Speaker 4: The thing that's inspiring me from the world of cryptids
- 22:49Speaker 4: is no longer considered a cryptid because, as I alluded
- 22:52Speaker 4: to earlier, it's one of those creatures that has like
- 22:54Speaker 4: been turned out is real and not fictional, and that
- 22:57Speaker 4: is the taper specifically. I think it's one of the
- 22:59Speaker 4: more examples and like still one of the more recent
- 23:02Speaker 4: examples that like, if you look up a picture of
- 23:05Speaker 4: a taper, it literally looks like someone just glued two
- 23:07Speaker 4: animals together. It's like the butt half of a zebra
- 23:10Speaker 4: in the front half of an anteater. You're like, you
- 23:12Speaker 4: made this up. There's no way this is a real thing.
- 23:14Speaker 4: You're insane. But like, no, they were thought to be
- 23:16Speaker 4: cryptids for eons and then it turns out, no, they're
- 23:19Speaker 4: a real thing. They exist, People saw them, and they
- 23:21Speaker 4: were in zoos today. So it's just it's it's these specifically,
- 23:25Speaker 4: but also the concept that, like in theory, any of
- 23:28Speaker 4: these could just end up in a zoo tomorrow.
- 23:30Speaker 2: So I love Tapia and didn't realize that they were
- 23:34Speaker 2: considered a cryptid till relatively recently in the grand scheme
- 23:38Speaker 2: of things. But then also you did say, but of
- 23:39Speaker 2: a zebra in front of a of an antelope.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Did you say anti? Yeah, of course, of course. Yeah.
- 23:47Speaker 4: They're weirdest, like they're literally like they like they have
- 23:49Speaker 4: like the stripey spotted bottom half and it just stops
- 23:52Speaker 4: halfway Like that doesn't seem real.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Yeah, no, that that makes a lot of sense that
- 23:57Speaker 2: people would have thought they were some kind of taxi
- 23:59Speaker 2: dermats blice together creature. But no, they're real. They're majestic.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Go see them at your local zoo look so cute. Well,
- 24:08Speaker 2: I'm feeling very inspired by all four panelists and I'm
- 24:11Speaker 2: ready to shed my skepticism aside and engage with some cryptozoology.
- 24:16Speaker 1: So should we play some games?
- 24:17Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 24:19Speaker 2: Okay, teams, Let's take our torch with low battery, grainy
- 24:22Speaker 2: nineteen eighties video camera and leave those night vision goggles
- 24:25Speaker 2: at home. Surely we won't need those as we head
- 24:28Speaker 2: out into the uncharted depths of Round one. Round one
- 24:35Speaker 2: is our classic game of deliberation, elimination and deception that
- 24:39Speaker 2: this time we're calling cryptid and rip it kind of works.
- 24:44Speaker 1: In turn.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I will name a category and give our players a
- 24:47Speaker 2: list of five things supposedly from that category. Three are real,
- 24:50Speaker 2: two are fake. Teams will select correct answers one by one,
- 24:53Speaker 2: but if they choose an incorrect answer, they'll be frozen
- 24:56Speaker 2: out of the list. Like the abominable Snowman. B can't
- 25:01Speaker 2: can't roll my rs properly. So that's what you're getting.
- 25:05Speaker 2: And much like global foreign policy in twenty twenty six,
- 25:08Speaker 2: we're going with America first and looking at cryptids of
- 25:11Speaker 2: the USA. So we're gonna go with USA cryptids.
- 25:14Speaker 4: I thought you meant that we were gonna go first.
- 25:17Speaker 4: I also was going the same round of like, oh,
- 25:19Speaker 4: the Americans get to go first.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Five subvert that ensure which side I'm on. I think
- 25:23Speaker 2: we are going to have the moth Maidens going first.
- 25:25Speaker 2: So we're gonna have a list for the moth Maidens
- 25:27Speaker 2: up first. These are USA cryptids. So here is your
- 25:30Speaker 2: list of five. The wend to Go, Slide Rock bolt Backworms,
- 25:37Speaker 2: the Muck Bang, and the Pope Lick Monster.
- 25:42Speaker 4: First obvious one. Aiden, I'm seeing if you're agreeing as
- 25:44Speaker 4: the wind to go to North American.
- 25:47Speaker 5: Yeah, it's that's like the you if you eat, if
- 25:50Speaker 5: you eat another human when you're in Canada, you turn
- 25:53Speaker 5: into one. Right.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Yeah, So the category was was North America or USA.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Specific USA, because apparently it's also I'm confirming that you're
- 26:02Speaker 2: right if you're selecting this.
- 26:03Speaker 4: I was gonna say, I know it's also like other
- 26:05Speaker 4: like northern parts of the US as well.
- 26:06Speaker 2: But yeah, Minnesota was the state the associates. Okay, I
- 26:10Speaker 2: thought it was. I thought it was Canadian specific, but it's.
- 26:14Speaker 4: A very frequently up here. We we deal with those. Yeah,
- 26:18Speaker 4: it's not pleasant you.
- 26:19Speaker 6: Have to eat a Canadian to turn into one, but
- 26:21Speaker 6: then you can migrate into the US.
- 26:24Speaker 5: That's the Canadian is fine.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I can't get local, so I can confirm the last
- 26:31Speaker 1: who are real?
- 26:32Speaker 4: I know the names. They are a thing?
- 26:34Speaker 5: Wait is so you see I think you're more knowledgeable
- 26:37Speaker 5: encryptids in general. I my understanding is a muckbang is
- 26:41Speaker 5: when a guy sits in front of a camera and
- 26:43Speaker 5: eats really loudly.
- 26:44Speaker 4: I think it's one of those ones where it's like
- 26:46Speaker 4: that it is that also, but I think it is
- 26:47Speaker 4: also encryptid. Like I could be I could be really
- 26:49Speaker 4: wrong on that one, but I feel like it's both Weirdly, I.
- 26:52Speaker 5: Mean, I would love it if it's just a cryptid
- 26:54Speaker 5: that like sits in the corner of the room and
- 26:56Speaker 5: eats really loudly. That's where the name comes from.
- 27:01Speaker 4: And I know the public is real, but I'm like,
- 27:03Speaker 4: part of me is like I feel like you wouldn't
- 27:04Speaker 4: have the public in America, at least not until the
- 27:06Speaker 4: most recent pope when it had a chance to actually
- 27:08Speaker 4: get one.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it's probably, don't you worry.
- 27:13Speaker 4: We were the first two. We get one more time.
- 27:14Speaker 2: The first two slide rock bolt and backworms.
- 27:18Speaker 4: I can't say I've heard of either one, the slide
- 27:20Speaker 4: rock Bolter feels like one of those words, like it's
- 27:22Speaker 4: something else, not a crypto, but a thing that he
- 27:24Speaker 4: pulled from something else. But the backworm does sound like Applausible,
- 27:27Speaker 4: one of my books.
- 27:28Speaker 5: I think the backworms also sounds sounds like the kind.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Of thing that let's lock in, uh, let's lock in
- 27:34Speaker 4: slide worms. It's hard to get a picture.
- 27:36Speaker 6: Because it's always behind you going with backworms.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Yeah, oh, you're frozen out of the last time just
- 27:47Speaker 2: one point there. Backworms are completely made up.
- 27:50Speaker 5: Well now then not I'm gonna get I'm getting on
- 27:53Speaker 5: the forums right now.
- 27:55Speaker 4: But at the end of this episode everything will be real.
- 27:57Speaker 6: I mean, if there's pinworms there, worms hang out in
- 28:00Speaker 6: your back and they're about as horrifying as any crypto.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Yeah, they just sounded like a horrible combination of words together.
- 28:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:09Speaker 2: If by the end of this recording you can prove
- 28:12Speaker 2: that three strangers believe in backwards, then I'll retract. Ayden
- 28:18Speaker 2: correctly identified that the muckbang is indeed a reference to
- 28:24Speaker 2: the genre of video invented in South Korea.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I believe I think so. Yeah, that is like.
- 28:30Speaker 2: People eating loudly in front of cameras and Drew. If
- 28:34Speaker 2: you'd gone with the Popelic Monster, you'd have got a point.
- 28:36Speaker 2: It's a it's a Kentucky based cryptid.
- 28:39Speaker 4: I need to know Howard got that name, what happened?
- 28:42Speaker 4: I would there's a town, yeah, Popelic, Public County. Yeah, okay,
- 28:47Speaker 4: there's just a place called Popelic. Goddamn it.
- 28:49Speaker 6: It was probably established by Richard Poplic. I don't know
- 28:52Speaker 6: where he got his name, but.
- 28:54Speaker 5: Yes, I thought that Hilf somehow really devout Catholic creature.
- 29:02Speaker 2: It's a it's it's a goat man. It's a it's
- 29:05Speaker 2: a classic kind of goat man.
- 29:07Speaker 5: It's always a goat man. It always comes back.
- 29:11Speaker 2: And then the last one would have been the last
- 29:14Speaker 2: one was the slide Rock Bult. Yeah, that's Colorado's cryptid.
- 29:17Speaker 7: I almost made a reference to it earlier for you, Matt,
- 29:20Speaker 7: because it's Colorado, but then again didn't want to give
- 29:23Speaker 7: anything away.
- 29:24Speaker 1: There it is.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Yeah, this is an almost like it looks like a
- 29:27Speaker 2: small whale and it slides down mountains, gobbling whatever is
- 29:32Speaker 2: in it. See that's a name that makes sense. Slides
- 29:35Speaker 2: down Yep, none of this Public Monster.
- 29:39Speaker 4: Sounded like a weapon from a video game.
- 29:42Speaker 2: All right, well, just one point in that category, but
- 29:44Speaker 2: that was, of course USA cryptids. Maybe the next category
- 29:48Speaker 2: will be better for you both, But for now, let's
- 29:50Speaker 2: move on to Team America also known as Forston Walkers.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Let's have five USA cryptids for them. Jackalope, the Past, Goola, Lake, Crawdad,
- 30:02Speaker 2: the squonk, the Cochlear, and Donkey Lady.
- 30:08Speaker 1: What the fuck?
- 30:11Speaker 4: Wow? We are not starting off the game with softballs.
- 30:14Speaker 6: Geez, I saw a donkey lady wants in Tijuana, but
- 30:18Speaker 6: I don't think.
- 30:21Speaker 4: I don't think they'd let that up in America. I mean,
- 30:25Speaker 4: the jack Lady and a donkey. You can figure out
- 30:26Speaker 4: the rest from there. Yeah. The Jacolobe, the gimme Yeah.
- 30:31Speaker 2: All right, Yes, Jacalobe is indeed a real creature within
- 30:35Speaker 2: this world that we're talking about.
- 30:38Speaker 5: No, it's been confirmed. You just confirmed it. Take that back.
- 30:42Speaker 4: I'm up getting the wiki right now.
- 30:45Speaker 7: The Crawdad thing just like it sounds like it could
- 30:48Speaker 7: be completely made up, you know, just a oh place.
- 30:51Speaker 6: Is it like a giant crawdad?
- 30:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know.
- 30:54Speaker 7: The squank sounds like something that could be real, but
- 30:57Speaker 7: it could also be something that's just Hey, let's make
- 30:59Speaker 7: up a funny word.
- 31:00Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a sasquatch with a skunk stripe. That would
- 31:04Speaker 6: be a sasquonk sasquonk. I mean they already have the skunk. Okay, Uh,
- 31:11Speaker 6: what was the one that started with a C?
- 31:13Speaker 1: Possibly that was the cochlea. Isn't that just a part
- 31:16Speaker 1: of your ear?
- 31:17Speaker 4: Yeah, the cochlear implant for when you can't.
- 31:20Speaker 6: Let's discount that one. Okay, So we were left with Squonk.
- 31:26Speaker 2: The Pasca Goula, Lake crawl Dad, and Donkey Lady.
- 31:29Speaker 4: I mean these.
- 31:30Speaker 6: Scryptid names are not always very creative.
- 31:33Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, like Bigfoot Donkey Lady doesn't sound like one
- 31:36Speaker 7: that you would make up unless you're gaming the game.
- 31:39Speaker 7: And then I'm gaming the gaming the game, the game
- 31:41Speaker 7: and overthinking everything and I can't.
- 31:42Speaker 4: Come up with the answer.
- 31:45Speaker 1: That's why we keep playing this game. Yeah, that's why
- 31:47Speaker 1: it works.
- 31:50Speaker 6: I don't are you leaning towards Donkey Lady or lake Monster.
- 31:53Speaker 7: I'm leaning towards squonk. But squank, let's go squawk fucking
- 31:57Speaker 7: Oh shit, Okay, gumma, Squonk, my fault. This skunk is real?
- 32:02Speaker 2: I did skunk is Pennsylvania's most famous cryptid.
- 32:07Speaker 4: I think it is very bigfoot, ask. I think it's
- 32:08Speaker 4: like one of those like it's just it's a big foot,
- 32:09Speaker 4: but like we have our own regional name for it
- 32:11Speaker 4: because we want to be special.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Yes, there's a lot of those something I mean, I
- 32:15Speaker 1: don't want it to be donkey lady.
- 32:16Speaker 6: So do you want to go for the Pasca Goola
- 32:19Speaker 6: monster crawdad or whatever?
- 32:21Speaker 4: Do it?
- 32:23Speaker 1: You don't want it to be donkey lady.
- 32:25Speaker 2: You want you want a giant Pasca Goula Lake crawdad.
- 32:29Speaker 2: That's not real. Sorry, that's there's no giant crawl Dad
- 32:34Speaker 2: in Pasca Goula Lake. But there is a donkey lady
- 32:37Speaker 2: in Texas.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Yeah sounds it's a horribly depressing and messed up story.
- 32:41Speaker 4: We won't go into it, but god is it dark.
- 32:45Speaker 1: It's just this poor lady everyone makes fun of, I mean.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Kind of throwing some child murder and a fire. And
- 32:54Speaker 4: you've almost got it.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Yes, just this donkey lady. You gotta liven it up
- 32:59Speaker 2: a bit, you God alive in it up with some
- 33:02Speaker 2: child murder. And much like America considers every other sovereign
- 33:06Speaker 2: state on this planet, we're going to look at rest
- 33:09Speaker 2: of the world cryptids because if it isn't America, it's
- 33:13Speaker 2: all the same. I'm going for my citizenship this year,
- 33:16Speaker 2: so I'm trying to. Okay, moth maidens, here is your
- 33:20Speaker 2: list of five rest of the world cryptids. The nandy Bear,
- 33:26Speaker 2: Jonah Gold, bun Yip, Tatsilworm, the bisanticorn.
- 33:34Speaker 4: Fairly confident in one.
- 33:36Speaker 5: I'm also fairly confident in one. I know that the
- 33:40Speaker 5: Bunyip is an Australian cryptid.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's the same one I had. Okay,
- 33:44Speaker 4: so I think we can lock that one. And we
- 33:45Speaker 4: both thought that one too.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Yeah, you are right on the cryptid, and you're right
- 33:48Speaker 2: on the location. It is Australia. Good stuff.
- 33:51Speaker 5: It's like it's just the most Australian sounding name for
- 33:54Speaker 5: a cryptid you could come up with.
- 33:56Speaker 4: So the first one, the nandy Bear, also feels like
- 33:58Speaker 4: a really like lazy version of an Australian cryptid name.
- 34:01Speaker 4: But they don't drop bears is they're other weird made
- 34:04Speaker 4: up things. So like I feel like it might be
- 34:05Speaker 4: like a hat there.
- 34:07Speaker 5: I think I remember watching Nandy Bear at six a m.
- 34:10Speaker 5: On the BBC like children's.
- 34:14Speaker 4: Channel.
- 34:16Speaker 5: Here comes Nandy Bear.
- 34:18Speaker 1: He's got a gun. He is a cryptid.
- 34:23Speaker 4: He just has a children's show and don't know how
- 34:24Speaker 4: it happens, just like uh, mister blobby cryptid clearly yeah,
- 34:30Speaker 4: I mean, come.
- 34:31Speaker 5: On, thing, No, Yeah, he's he's actually a big concern.
- 34:34Speaker 5: He's he's still a lodge in the country.
- 34:37Speaker 4: Hasn't got him yet. Can we get the list again
- 34:41Speaker 4: minus the two we know the nandy Bears one of
- 34:44Speaker 4: the other three.
- 34:45Speaker 2: You want to skip Nandy Bear, So you've got Jonah Gold, Tatsalworm,
- 34:49Speaker 2: and the bysantic On.
- 34:52Speaker 5: Now, are Tatslworm's a Norse mythological mythological thing or are
- 34:58Speaker 5: they also like is it like like some dinosaur ones
- 35:01Speaker 5: where it's like they they're real and they're around.
- 35:03Speaker 4: The Flatwood Monster is technically an alien? Do we count
- 35:06Speaker 4: all aliens as crypt to that point? Yeah, I say,
- 35:10Speaker 4: matter of factly, like we just know everyone knows that
- 35:15Speaker 4: the Lexander corn sounds like something I've heard before, but
- 35:18Speaker 4: not as a cryptod.
- 35:18Speaker 5: I think, Yeah, what was the one that's just like
- 35:20Speaker 5: a guy's name, old Jonah Gold. Jonah Gold sounds like
- 35:27Speaker 5: like a four year Marvel character.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Either, answer right, dude?
- 35:33Speaker 4: Do go driver By day car by Night the worst superhero.
- 35:39Speaker 5: But then also like like British cryptids sometimes are just
- 35:42Speaker 5: like a dude like springhel Jack, Like that's just a guy.
- 35:48Speaker 5: But I would also consider that a cryptid. So like,
- 35:52Speaker 5: by the way, we just rumined it, so everyone else
- 35:56Speaker 5: has been holding back. I'm just like, yeah, there's a
- 35:58Speaker 5: British cryptid I know.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Might come up.
- 36:02Speaker 4: So I'm trying to think of those. I feel like
- 36:04Speaker 4: I feel like we can both say Andy Bears and no,
- 36:06Speaker 4: we can. We can cross that one off the list.
- 36:07Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 36:07Speaker 5: The other thing, I would tentatively lock in tats all them.
- 36:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I like it. I feel like we got screwed
- 36:14Speaker 4: by a worm last time. Worms can't ruin us twice. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 36:19Speaker 4: It's illegal for them to do. That is a thing.
- 36:23Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Surely I thought about the uniformity of this to make
- 36:28Speaker 2: sure that you're not No, it is absolutely true. The
- 36:30Speaker 2: tatsal worm is native to the Alps. It's a big
- 36:34Speaker 2: old Swiss worm.
- 36:36Speaker 4: It's the also known as the Alaskan bullworm. I believe
- 36:40Speaker 4: someone got the joke, thank you. I guess. Of the
- 36:43Speaker 4: remaining ones, I'm kind of like, I don't know I'm
- 36:46Speaker 4: kind of leaning towards the Byzantic Corn. It feels like
- 36:48Speaker 4: a weird enough thing that it might be real or
- 36:50Speaker 4: you know what I mean.
- 36:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I'm between that and Jonah Gold.
- 36:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I can't, Like, I'm trying to think
- 36:57Speaker 4: that Jonah Gold is like named after someone somehow. Is
- 37:00Speaker 4: it a golden thing from a town of Jonah? I
- 37:02Speaker 4: don't know.
- 37:02Speaker 5: I think that's a I think the town name. Then
- 37:05Speaker 5: the thing is like an American cryptidi. Oh yeah, I think,
- 37:09Speaker 5: like I think other than the lockness monster, Like generally
- 37:13Speaker 5: it's just his here's here's a guy that we found.
- 37:17Speaker 4: So in that case, would you lean further away from it?
- 37:20Speaker 3: Then?
- 37:21Speaker 5: Honestly, at this point, I would just toss a coin
- 37:25Speaker 5: to decide between the two of them. That I don't
- 37:28Speaker 5: have a coin on that.
- 37:30Speaker 4: What's the coin I keep one of my dad?
- 37:35Speaker 1: We're the old ones. It turns out.
- 37:38Speaker 4: I'm a full magic card. Conveniently, a super copper card.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Heads up will be the Byzantic Corn. Byzantic Corn, all right, I.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Wouldn't have mattened either way, but gold it was.
- 37:53Speaker 5: It was the Nandy Bear.
- 37:54Speaker 2: It was the Native key. Yeah, the Nanty Bear. Was
- 37:59Speaker 2: the other cryptids the Byzanticorn. I'll be honest, I thought
- 38:02Speaker 2: that was so fix sounding that no one would go
- 38:04Speaker 2: for it.
- 38:05Speaker 5: I did think it sounded like the mascot of a
- 38:07Speaker 5: metal band from the eighties. But then I was like,
- 38:12Speaker 5: they might name it after that.
- 38:13Speaker 6: You know, it's just a unicorn with an overly complicated horn.
- 38:19Speaker 4: I know there's like other like there's like a few
- 38:20Speaker 4: other things where they use like the corn like at
- 38:22Speaker 4: the end of the name is like part of the
- 38:24Speaker 4: like suffix. I'm like, it's not crazy. I'm sure it's
- 38:26Speaker 4: something I know totally.
- 38:28Speaker 2: And this is designed to trick you and you fell
- 38:30Speaker 2: into the trap, just like Bigson did that one time.
- 38:33Speaker 2: And John of Gold is a is a type of apple.
- 38:38Speaker 5: Apples aren't real.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Apples aren't real. I would love it if the takeaway
- 38:47Speaker 2: from this, the thing that gets spread around the Internet
- 38:49Speaker 2: is that apples aren't real.
- 38:50Speaker 5: I'll go on record, you can have this as the
- 38:53Speaker 5: Instagram clip. I don't think apples are real, and you
- 38:55Speaker 5: can you can comfort me to prove otherwise, and you
- 38:59Speaker 5: can put on your channels and I will, like my
- 39:02Speaker 5: dms are open.
- 39:03Speaker 4: Coming, getting controversial.
- 39:08Speaker 1: They're all just round hard pairs.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Well, that actually sounds believable. Okay, let's move on over
- 39:18Speaker 2: to full skin Walkers. And I can't believe that I
- 39:20Speaker 2: have to keep looking at what your team name is?
- 39:24Speaker 2: Is your list of cryptids from the rest of the world.
- 39:28Speaker 2: The bloop Jenny Green Teeth, the Chimichury Tengu and the.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Nora Go Aurora, Dora Go Aurora, Ana go Aurora I mean.
- 39:42Speaker 7: American read that, and a monitor lizard like that's a
- 39:47Speaker 7: oh okay. The only my only reference to Tengu was
- 39:50Speaker 7: Power Rangers, the movie with the Tengu Warriors, so I
- 39:53Speaker 7: was like, hey, this is my wow.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Student of zoology and a student of pop culture.
- 39:58Speaker 3: There.
- 40:00Speaker 6: That does not mean there isn't a cryptid also named
- 40:02Speaker 6: a tango.
- 40:03Speaker 4: I have no idea.
- 40:04Speaker 6: The Jimmy Cherry jim Tree.
- 40:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that one.
- 40:12Speaker 7: That one seems plausible for a different country to have
- 40:14Speaker 7: one named that.
- 40:15Speaker 1: What was it actually called again, the Chimmyury Jimmy Chry.
- 40:19Speaker 7: Oh wait, was it actually Jimmy Chery It's called them?
- 40:22Speaker 7: Oh I thought, I thought I misheard it. Never mind, No,
- 40:24Speaker 7: that's food. I mean these could all be food technically.
- 40:29Speaker 4: Yeah, like a nice, nice Tengu burger.
- 40:34Speaker 6: I'm sorry, could you read all of the.
- 40:38Speaker 4: Teeth.
- 40:39Speaker 2: You've got the bloop, Jenny Green teeth, the Chimmychery tengu
- 40:44Speaker 2: and Nora Go Aora never not gonna be fun.
- 40:51Speaker 5: I'm really hoping that's like a Scottish one because like
- 40:54Speaker 5: trying to picture that being said.
- 41:01Speaker 4: I feel like that'd be a Welsh one. I hear
- 41:03Speaker 4: them say that.
- 41:06Speaker 7: Ellen Cummings saying that, I.
- 41:11Speaker 6: Mean, you want to start with Jenny Green teeth. I
- 41:14Speaker 6: guess that's probably the one.
- 41:16Speaker 7: I'm Jenny Green Teeth, Bloop and Anora Go Aurora or
- 41:21Speaker 7: are the ones that I'm thinking, But because Jimmy Cherry
- 41:25Speaker 7: not at all, and then what was the last one?
- 41:27Speaker 7: What was the other one out of those? But yeah,
- 41:29Speaker 7: let's go Jenny Tang. Yeah, let's go Jenny Green Teeth.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Let's do sure, Jenny Jenny Green teeth. Yes, Jenny Green
- 41:36Speaker 2: Teeth is an English cryptid.
- 41:38Speaker 5: I'm like, I was like, that's gonna be an English one.
- 41:43Speaker 4: You're allowed to make that joke, we aren't, he.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Said, And I'm like, if this is a real one,
- 41:48Speaker 1: it's gonna be British as it is.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's where the stereotype started with Jenny Green teeth.
- 41:55Speaker 1: I mean, do you want to try Aurora, rob.
- 41:59Speaker 4: That or bloop? I don't know why.
- 42:00Speaker 7: Bloop just seems like it would be like you know
- 42:03Speaker 7: that bloop these these people describe seeing.
- 42:06Speaker 6: Maybe not would Matt write something for himself? That's that
- 42:10Speaker 6: hard to say as a as a rubber baby bubby.
- 42:15Speaker 7: Okay, let's do it, Aurora an go.
- 42:22Speaker 4: It's exact time of year, in this exact way.
- 42:26Speaker 2: It so I've I've tricked you. It's a trap. You're
- 42:29Speaker 2: frozen out of the list. I'm so sorry. And I
- 42:31Speaker 2: wanted to write something that sounded like it was me
- 42:34Speaker 2: miss like mispronouncing. So I am so pleased with myself
- 42:39Speaker 2: that that work. That will keep me feeled for the
- 42:41Speaker 2: best of the week. If you'd have gone with the
- 42:45Speaker 2: bloop first, you would have got another point because that
- 42:48Speaker 2: was the other cryptid from the South Pacific. It's known
- 42:52Speaker 2: for like pinging radar, and that's where it gets the
- 42:56Speaker 2: name bloop from.
- 42:58Speaker 5: I feel like that's that's an example of a cryptid
- 43:01Speaker 5: that's been discovered. Like I think they found a specific
- 43:05Speaker 5: species of whale, but it was that was causing the blue.
- 43:08Speaker 5: It could be entirely wrong.
- 43:10Speaker 4: That sounds like you're thinking of a different blue but
- 43:12Speaker 4: I know what you're referring to it, but something else.
- 43:15Speaker 4: But yes, there was another mystery sound in the ocean
- 43:16Speaker 4: that was turns out was a very weirdly specific whale
- 43:19Speaker 4: call was being picked up.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Oh okay, interesting, interesting it could it could well be
- 43:23Speaker 2: that it was at one point a cryptid uh and
- 43:27Speaker 2: Tengu was the other one.
- 43:30Speaker 1: May be a power ranger. It's yeah, I'm.
- 43:34Speaker 5: Going to be honest. When you said Tengu, I thought
- 43:37Speaker 5: that you said a different word. That is the name
- 43:39Speaker 5: of a company that makes eggs that you jerk off with.
- 43:45Speaker 5: And I'm just like, I really hate that. I know that,
- 43:48Speaker 5: but if I don't say it before the round ends,
- 43:50Speaker 5: it's just going to be stuck in my head the
- 43:51Speaker 5: whole game to expel it.
- 43:56Speaker 2: And as you were saying that, I thought you were
- 43:58Speaker 2: going to say, I thought you said pingu, And then
- 43:59Speaker 2: it went.
- 44:02Speaker 5: There might be a pinky themed one that they made.
- 44:03Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 44:07Speaker 2: And well done for not going for the jimmyjury. You
- 44:11Speaker 2: identified that as a source correctly, So well.
- 44:14Speaker 4: I have a bottle of my copboard.
- 44:15Speaker 2: I know what it is, all right, and now we're
- 44:18Speaker 2: going to deal with the most dangerous monster inhabiting this planet.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Man.
- 44:24Speaker 2: This next category is the names of notable cryptozoologists. That
- 44:29Speaker 2: means they have a blue outline on Wikipedia. They have
- 44:32Speaker 2: a Wikipedia article about them at the very least one.
- 44:37Speaker 2: So we're gonna go back on over to the moth
- 44:39Speaker 2: maidens and we are going to have a list of
- 44:41Speaker 2: cryptozoologists for them. Here we go, Darius cotton Wheel, Matthew Moneymaker,
- 44:48Speaker 2: Grover crans Edvard Illingworth, and Robert Michael Pile Jesus crossed.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Three of them are real.
- 44:59Speaker 4: I feel bad for all of them. I mean, I
- 45:04Speaker 4: ask out of politeness, aidan, before we start making bullshit guesses.
- 45:07Speaker 4: Do any of these ring a bell to you in
- 45:09Speaker 4: any like specifically like, oh, I know that one isn't
- 45:13Speaker 4: because it's something else.
- 45:15Speaker 5: Uh No, I mean Matthew Moneymaker is what matt called
- 45:19Speaker 5: himself for a brief period and.
- 45:25Speaker 1: It didn't work out.
- 45:27Speaker 5: The last one sounded like like I may have seen
- 45:31Speaker 5: it in like a when I'm doing a deep dive
- 45:33Speaker 5: on a particular cryptod of like this person reported this
- 45:36Speaker 5: sighting like honestly, yeah, like the name style Yeah. The
- 45:40Speaker 5: names of cryptozoologists also sound like they could be the
- 45:43Speaker 5: name of like, uh, like a cryptoan fascist people. So
- 45:49Speaker 5: if you've not got any ideas, I'd be happy to
- 45:51Speaker 5: just guess that one.
- 45:52Speaker 4: Weirdly, that was the one I was the most like,
- 45:54Speaker 4: like that sounds the most realistic for some reason. Let's
- 45:56Speaker 4: go with that one though, whatever something Pile.
- 45:58Speaker 2: Yeah, Robert Michael Pile, Yeah, that one. You get a point.
- 46:02Speaker 2: He is a big Foot specialist.
- 46:04Speaker 5: That I think it was like in my in my
- 46:06Speaker 5: big in my Bigfoot era that I remember written that name.
- 46:10Speaker 4: Genuinely didn't want to say I knew. I was like
- 46:12Speaker 4: so convinced that I was gonna be a bullshit thing.
- 46:14Speaker 4: But like, I feel like I saw that name listed
- 46:16Speaker 4: somewhere at the Bigfoot Museum. I went to like, I
- 46:18Speaker 4: feel like I made a joke about Pyle, and I
- 46:20Speaker 4: think he had like donated like some poop, and I
- 46:22Speaker 4: was like, that's really funny all those drops.
- 46:25Speaker 2: Would you like to take a guess of one of
- 46:27Speaker 2: the others? Would you like to hear the names again?
- 46:29Speaker 4: I mean you could be I think Ad and I
- 46:31Speaker 4: both agree we're not we do or we don't do
- 46:33Speaker 4: money makers. It's like way too outgrow on either side.
- 46:36Speaker 5: But then again, the kind of person who becomes a
- 46:38Speaker 5: cryptos zoologist might give himself the name.
- 46:41Speaker 4: Let's let's make that our third guess, because I'm like
- 46:43Speaker 4: very fifty fifty on it. Let's pick one of the
- 46:45Speaker 4: other three as our middle three.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Matt you've got Darius cotton Wheel, Grover Krans, and ed
- 46:53Speaker 2: Vard Illingworth.
- 46:54Speaker 4: The name Illingworth sounds familiar, and I feel like it's
- 46:57Speaker 4: probably not from crypto zoology.
- 46:59Speaker 5: I was gonna say, like Grover Krans or Edvard Killingworth.
- 47:03Speaker 4: I like Grover Krans. I like that. I don't know
- 47:05Speaker 4: why the one that works for me. Maybe because Grover
- 47:08Speaker 4: is also a monster and technically a cryptids, so I
- 47:10Speaker 4: kind of associate them.
- 47:12Speaker 5: Yeah, well.
- 47:14Speaker 4: Crypt I mean, have you seen Big Bird?
- 47:19Speaker 2: That's true Big Fate gro Grover Krans. Yeah, yeah, you're
- 47:25Speaker 2: two for two so far. Grover Krans is also a
- 47:28Speaker 2: bigfoot researcher.
- 47:29Speaker 5: Okay, I guess that's why the money is.
- 47:32Speaker 4: Yeah, let's put the money maker were we we have
- 47:35Speaker 4: a we have a one in three chance. Anyways, this
- 47:36Speaker 4: one feels a slightly better.
- 47:38Speaker 2: All Right, you're going for Matthew money maker. You're three
- 47:41Speaker 2: for three on cryptis.
- 47:46Speaker 7: Grover Krans was the one that sounded that sounded right
- 47:49Speaker 7: for some reason. But man ah three, well done.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Matthew money Maker, host of Finding Bigfoot, one of the
- 47:57Speaker 2: famous documentary series, so turns out most of the Wikipedia
- 48:01Speaker 2: articles about bigfoot people because that's.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Where the money is. As you said, so, yeah, he
- 48:05Speaker 1: makes the money.
- 48:06Speaker 4: That's the name.
- 48:06Speaker 1: There you go.
- 48:07Speaker 4: So the other two names made up or were they actual?
- 48:09Speaker 4: Other people?
- 48:10Speaker 2: Completely made up because it's fun to make up first
- 48:13Speaker 2: name surname. But money Maker sounded so fake that I
- 48:15Speaker 2: had an uphill battle.
- 48:17Speaker 4: Wow.
- 48:18Speaker 2: All right, let's have one final list for the four
- 48:20Speaker 2: skin walkers of cryptozoologists.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Here are your names.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Trader Horn, Tom Slick, Franklin Heirloom, Ned Rudolph, and Daris Swindler.
- 48:36Speaker 4: You gotta be.
- 48:44Speaker 1: The first one.
- 48:45Speaker 6: Sounded vaguely familiar, but I say that with no confidence.
- 48:49Speaker 4: Yeah, but.
- 48:51Speaker 7: See, this is a list where Ned Rudolph is the
- 48:54Speaker 7: most normal name, but it's but fuck, let's let's do
- 49:01Speaker 7: trader Horn.
- 49:02Speaker 4: Why not?
- 49:03Speaker 6: I think Tom Slick maybe too, but yeah, sure trader Horn.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Going with trader Horn.
- 49:09Speaker 2: Yes, trader Horn absolutely nineteenth century, one of the first cryptozoologists.
- 49:15Speaker 2: He was an abolitionist but also an ivory.
- 49:17Speaker 7: Trader so okay, you know nobody everything right, Yeah, yeah, Slick,
- 49:24Speaker 7: you want to do it?
- 49:25Speaker 4: Sure, Tom Slick.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Going with Tom Slick. Tom'slick is real. Yeah, the early
- 49:33Speaker 2: crypto zoologist, an adventurer and oil air.
- 49:36Speaker 5: Like come on an oil air and his name is Slick.
- 49:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 49:41Speaker 6: I think people just made their own names up back
- 49:43Speaker 6: then you move to a new town. Names Tom Slick
- 49:48Speaker 6: probly wrong, Rudolph.
- 49:51Speaker 7: Since we've got we've got two goofy sounding names that
- 49:54Speaker 7: were already correct.
- 49:55Speaker 1: So we got ed Rudolph, Darris Swindle.
- 49:57Speaker 4: And heirloom something something heirloom.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Swindle, Franklin heirloom and Daris Swindler or other two Swindler.
- 50:04Speaker 6: Like, you gotta be fucking kidding me. You change your
- 50:06Speaker 6: name if you're gonna yeah, crypto as well, just named swindler, right,
- 50:10Speaker 6: yeah something, we're practically money. Let's go Rudolph. Like you
- 50:17Speaker 6: seem to be leaning Rudolph. I've got no reason to
- 50:19Speaker 6: lean away from Rudolph. I have no reason to lean
- 50:22Speaker 6: to it, like you're you're on a roll. But he like,
- 50:26Speaker 6: I think the meta game, like he saw these ridiculous
- 50:29Speaker 6: names and uh like, could he put three on one?
- 50:32Speaker 4: He's gotta throw somebody has.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Somebody semi normal, right, and then I don't know Rudolf,
- 50:38Speaker 1: yea Ned Rudolph, Rudolf going Ned Rudolph.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Oh, we're not getting the double three for threes on cryptozoologists.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Ned Rudolph is fake. I'm afraid it was actually Daris Swindler.
- 50:50Speaker 1: That was the real Christian name, the born name of
- 50:55Speaker 1: this person.
- 50:56Speaker 5: Not even like you didn't like, not even like a
- 50:58Speaker 5: change it on the like no horror register or however
- 51:01Speaker 5: you do it, like just just straight up like Daris
- 51:04Speaker 5: my name, Hi, my name is like Michael untrustworthy, Douglas
- 51:10Speaker 5: scam you.
- 51:14Speaker 4: All right?
- 51:14Speaker 1: That is the end of round one.
- 51:16Speaker 2: Let's ask Bigfoot to calculate the latest scores. He can
- 51:19Speaker 2: count them on those big old toes. Those scores are
- 51:23Speaker 2: the moth Maidens are on six points and the foreskin
- 51:26Speaker 2: Walkers are on five points.
- 51:28Speaker 4: Oh shit, I didn't realize we were only one point
- 51:30Speaker 4: all right in the lead.
- 51:35Speaker 3: Up.
- 51:35Speaker 1: Next is round two.
- 51:36Speaker 2: After these ads, follow us on Patreon to go ad
- 51:39Speaker 2: free instantly and support us for four bucks a month
- 51:42Speaker 2: and get full video episodes so you two can see
- 51:45Speaker 2: these five faces that belong in a cryptoso see you
- 51:48Speaker 2: after this. Round two is called Oh see, It's the
- 51:58Speaker 2: game where I'm going to ask our players to each
- 52:00Speaker 2: pitch a brand new cryptid and convince me of its
- 52:03Speaker 2: mythos and law based on an encounter they had with it.
- 52:07Speaker 2: So earlier this week, I asked our players to send
- 52:10Speaker 2: me three prompts, an animal, a color, and a celebrity
- 52:15Speaker 2: associated with the nineteen nineties. I then put all of
- 52:18Speaker 2: their suggestions into a randomizer for it to spit out
- 52:21Speaker 2: the description of a brand new cryptid, a cryptid that
- 52:24Speaker 2: they will each spend ninety seconds telling us all about
- 52:28Speaker 2: what it looked like, the encounter they had and trying
- 52:31Speaker 2: to convince us of its existence. I will then rank
- 52:34Speaker 2: their cryptids from first to fourth, scoring on believability, creativity,
- 52:39Speaker 2: and jennaser qua, whatever that means.
- 52:43Speaker 6: So the goal is to work in whatever these three
- 52:45Speaker 6: things are to our description.
- 52:47Speaker 2: In some ways, I'm gonna I'm going to set you
- 52:50Speaker 2: up with what what it is that will that will
- 52:52Speaker 2: be open, and it's more about just describing a believable
- 52:56Speaker 2: encounter with this creature, make me believe that you encountered
- 53:01Speaker 2: this creature, and make the rest of your fellow panel
- 53:04Speaker 2: believe that you encountered this creature.
- 53:06Speaker 1: I'm curious how celebrity from the nineties is gonna work.
- 53:10Speaker 4: You'll feel intrigued to see how this working.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Drew.
- 53:14Speaker 2: You are gonna tell us about your encounter. Pitch the
- 53:18Speaker 2: evidence of your cryptids. Anything you say is true. So
- 53:21Speaker 2: no matter what you say, we have to believe it.
- 53:23Speaker 2: And your cryptid is an orange walrus with the face
- 53:28Speaker 2: of John Stamos, So Drew. Whenever you are ready, you
- 53:38Speaker 2: will have ninety seconds to tell us all about your encounter.
- 53:40Speaker 2: You can give it a name, you can say where
- 53:42Speaker 2: you encountered it, fill in all of the blanks. But
- 53:45Speaker 2: it is an orange walrus with the face of John Stamos.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Take it away.
- 53:49Speaker 3: You know.
- 53:50Speaker 4: The other day, I was out with my my buddy's fishing.
- 53:53Speaker 4: They passed out too many beers, so I was alone
- 53:55Speaker 4: in the boat just fishing a bit. It was the
- 53:56Speaker 4: sun was starting to set and that beautiful like orange
- 53:58Speaker 4: color the sky gets. And then I was like, something's
- 54:01Speaker 4: like off, like there's something in the water that's like
- 54:02Speaker 4: reflecting the sky, cause it's like that same like color
- 54:05Speaker 4: of like sunset orange. And then it turned like it
- 54:08Speaker 4: was something that it could physically moved to look at me,
- 54:09Speaker 4: and the like approached the boat and it was this
- 54:11Speaker 4: like gorgeous like sea cow creature thing with the most
- 54:16Speaker 4: handsome face, and it just like felt like a father figure,
- 54:19Speaker 4: even though it wasn't my father. It felt like it
- 54:21Speaker 4: could maybe like help raise my kids if I needed to,
- 54:24Speaker 4: and probably be really good in his brock band Like
- 54:27Speaker 4: he just gave up this vibe and it came to
- 54:31Speaker 4: me with this almost human like face that was so
- 54:33Speaker 4: bizarre because otherwise it was very walrus like, and it
- 54:36Speaker 4: said to me, like, you got this, You're doing okay.
- 54:39Speaker 4: I believe in you and family really does matter. And
- 54:42Speaker 4: it just filled me with this warm light inside. And
- 54:45Speaker 4: before I could wake my friends from they're drunken stupor,
- 54:47Speaker 4: it had slowly lowered itself back into the oceans of
- 54:50Speaker 4: the coast of Canada and swam away. And to this night,
- 54:54Speaker 4: to this day, I still think of it every night
- 54:56Speaker 4: and the warmth and power it gave me. I've tried
- 54:58Speaker 4: to go back. I've looked again and again. I have
- 55:01Speaker 4: brought uh bass guitars and stories of family to try
- 55:06Speaker 4: to coax it back out of the ocean to see me.
- 55:08Speaker 4: I even started growing my mustache to match it and nothing.
- 55:12Speaker 4: It won't come back, And I'm hoping maybe in many years,
- 55:14Speaker 4: Netflix will reboot one of the shows it was on
- 55:16Speaker 4: and that will coax it to come back and it
- 55:17Speaker 4: won't be a failure.
- 55:21Speaker 2: What a description, What an encounter. I loved that it
- 55:24Speaker 2: was on a fishing trip with buddies drinking beers. That's
- 55:27Speaker 2: a classic cryptid. Like there was other people there, they
- 55:31Speaker 2: just didn't see it, I'm telling you, man.
- 55:33Speaker 4: Or like they were a little drunken. Maybe they saw it.
- 55:37Speaker 2: Oh, that's fantastic. I love how it felt like a
- 55:40Speaker 2: father vicar. I love the idea because what do I.
- 55:43Speaker 4: Know about Don Stey host sis like a few shows
- 55:46Speaker 4: I know him from, I think, and more else I know.
- 55:49Speaker 2: Him from more daddy cryptids, I think is what we need.
- 55:53Speaker 4: I will. I think there's quite a few that already
- 55:55Speaker 4: felt that category. Surprisingly.
- 55:57Speaker 2: Yep, your your team has been filling me in with
- 55:59Speaker 2: the Okay, fantastic. I will save any further judgment until
- 56:03Speaker 2: I have heard all of your encounters. But now we
- 56:06Speaker 2: are going to move on over to the foreskin Walkers
- 56:08Speaker 2: and John, you are going to tell us all about
- 56:11Speaker 2: your encounter with the following cryptid. It is a neon
- 56:15Speaker 2: yellow flamingo with the face of Jonathan Taylor Thomas. How
- 56:28Speaker 2: are you ready? Yeah, time starts now.
- 56:31Speaker 7: So when we were young fellas, when we were teenagers,
- 56:35Speaker 7: I mean Ben Ben was there for a lot of these.
- 56:37Speaker 7: We used to go camping at a place called Folsom Lake.
- 56:41Speaker 7: It's it's a lake in our hometown of Fulsom, California,
- 56:44Speaker 7: and they it's Beale's Point. They had these little campgrounds
- 56:48Speaker 7: that you can go stay at and oftentimes, you know,
- 56:51Speaker 7: you'd have a little little drink, a little smoke, and
- 56:54Speaker 7: you'd go wandering off in the woods towards the lake. Well,
- 56:58Speaker 7: one night, you know, it was very dark, very dark
- 57:00Speaker 7: out there. There's no there's no lighting, it's just your flashlight.
- 57:03Speaker 7: I went out without a flashlight, stupidly because I'm I'm
- 57:07Speaker 7: a scaredy cat. I am scared of everything. And in
- 57:11Speaker 7: the distance towards the water, towards the beach, I saw
- 57:14Speaker 7: something that was impossibly bright. It was bright and yellow,
- 57:18Speaker 7: and I was scared, but I figured I had to
- 57:22Speaker 7: approach it, so I got closer to it.
- 57:24Speaker 4: It didn't move.
- 57:25Speaker 7: It seemed really friendly, you know, just like like it
- 57:29Speaker 7: it exuded an innocence and I got close and it
- 57:35Speaker 7: reminded me of, you know, just a little brother, a
- 57:40Speaker 7: little brother that would be on a Team Beat magazine.
- 57:42Speaker 7: And I gave him a little pat on the head
- 57:45Speaker 7: and I said, Hey, nice to meet you, and it's all, hey, yeah,
- 57:48Speaker 7: you too, and I went back to go. I was like,
- 57:51Speaker 7: holy crap, man, you got to come out and see
- 57:53Speaker 7: this thing. It's a neon yellow Jonathan Taylor Thomas face flamingo.
- 57:56Speaker 7: And he went out there and he's like, what are
- 57:58Speaker 7: you talking about, dude, You're a.
- 57:59Speaker 2: Hammer fantastic cryptid encounter. I've just written down Team Beat.
- 58:07Speaker 2: If that gives me any more clues as to who
- 58:09Speaker 2: Jonathan Taylor Thomas is.
- 58:12Speaker 7: I'm not even sure if that's a real magazine me
- 58:14Speaker 7: it was Tiger Beat.
- 58:15Speaker 2: I don't know, Tiger Beats. Another cryptid okay, fantastic. I
- 58:21Speaker 2: once again will save more judgment until we hear more cryptids.
- 58:24Speaker 2: It will be Aiden up next to pitch their cryptid encounter.
- 58:28Speaker 2: And that cryptid encounter was with a Crimson pangle in
- 58:33Speaker 2: with the face of Robin Williams. Crimson panglin with the
- 58:44Speaker 2: face of Robin Williams. You ready, aiden, I'm I'm ready
- 58:48Speaker 2: take it away. So this was this was a few
- 58:50Speaker 2: years ago. Now, I was I was heading home from
- 58:54Speaker 2: from work. It was a really beautiful sunset. It was
- 58:57Speaker 2: like the kind that turns the whole the whole sky read.
- 59:02Speaker 2: And as I was admiring this, I realized that there
- 59:04Speaker 2: was there was a shape sort of in the shrubbery nearby.
- 59:08Speaker 2: I heard like a rustling, and I took it close
- 59:12Speaker 2: to look because I was like, oh, maybe it's like
- 59:14Speaker 2: an animal, Maybe there's a stray cat that needs my help.
- 59:17Speaker 2: And as I approached it, there was these these scales
- 59:22Speaker 2: and they I couldn't tell if it was reflecting off
- 59:25Speaker 2: the sky or if it was the natural color of
- 59:27Speaker 2: this creature.
- 59:28Speaker 5: But I've never seen anything like it. It was like
- 59:29Speaker 5: an anti airbot, like armored, and like as I approached it,
- 59:34Speaker 5: it turned to look at me. And I've never seen
- 59:39Speaker 5: a face that made me feel so so scared and
- 59:45Speaker 5: comforted at the same time. It was like it was
- 59:49Speaker 5: it's like it was laughing with me, and it could
- 59:54Speaker 5: do just the most spot on impression of any any
- 59:58Speaker 5: like any person that I named I'd like, I think
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: I shouted an exclamation the name of a celebrity just
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: from my surprise, and it just reproduced their voice so quickly,
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: which I'm not able to do. I was so in
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: shock that I can't recreate its recreation of the voices.
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: But then it gave me a hug, got a little
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: hugging at the end. I love it.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: I think more Cryptid should do impressions. I've written down
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: here a great pangolin knowledge.
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: I love those little guys.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah, magical, hell yeah.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Okay, we have one more cryptid encounter to hear about,
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: this time from Ben Benn. Are you ready to hear
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: about your cryptid or you ready to tell us about
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: your encounter?
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: Of course I can't wait.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Okay, Ben, your cryptid is a shar truce duck with
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: the face of Sarah Michelle Gella, a shaw truth duck
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: with the face of Sarah Michelle Gella.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Ben, you ready.
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: You know what the color shar truce is? Okay, yes, sure.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Take it away. It's like a bright yellow green kind
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: of don't tell him.
- 1:01:20Speaker 6: Let me tell you the tale of the Gellar duck.
- 1:01:26Speaker 6: You gotta watch out. It's a horrible creature. I was
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: in I was in the wilds of Minnesota duck hunting,
- 1:01:34Speaker 6: of course, as I do. And I saw this, this
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: strange yellow streak across the sky, and you know it,
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: took a shot, sent my dog Buck after it, and
- 1:01:47Speaker 6: he ran to go get this duck, and it never
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: came back. He just U I heard a yelp out
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: in the bushes, and I wasn't sure what was going on,
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: so I wandered my way over there and found found
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: the duck lying on the ground twitching, and the my
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: dog with a wooden steak through its heart. For some reason,
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: so I grabbed the ducks, snapped its neck and started
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: gutting it right there in the place. And as I
- 1:02:13Speaker 6: cut it open, what did I see but but a
- 1:02:15Speaker 6: woman's face. Lovely enough face, but not the kind of
- 1:02:19Speaker 6: face you expect to find in a duck. And as
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: I as I stared into its eyes, it it opened
- 1:02:27Speaker 6: its mouth and started to scream, which was pretty horrifying.
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: So I I I punched it right in the face.
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: Ah And uh, yeah, I don't. I don't go to
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: Minnesota anymore. Fuck that place.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Wow, this in this climate to say, fuck Minnesota.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: Wo Oh my goodness.
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: Ben.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: The first thing I want to unpack is who's this character?
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: I love him?
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: Who's this great? That's what it sounds like. Mike, Oh,
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: that was brilliant. You really just by changing your voice slightly,
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: you transported me into a world of a real cryptids hunter,
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: like describing their encounter and just because I've got to
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: start making decisions, and maybe it could be because it's
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: the one I heard most recently. I'm going to give
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: you five points, Ben, I will take it. I like
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: the direction of I'm I'm playing a character here. I
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: thought that was great. I did love everyone else's personal stories.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: I just I just think of the face being inside
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: the duck was horrified.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: Yeah, the face inside the duck, punching the faces.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: So many things wrong in that, but I loved it.
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: Gutting the duck didn't kill it, and so yeah, you
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: then have to punch it in the face to get
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: it to be quiet.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: The dog gets a steak through it. It had animal murder,
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: violence against women technically.
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: Topics.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: I shouldn't be giving this five points, but I am.
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: It was Honestly, I'm ready to watch the rest of
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: the episode. It was like the perfect cold open, like
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: an episode of supernaturalism thing.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: I like Drew's story of it being the fishing trip.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: I thought that's very classic, like Cryptid story with the
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: with the UH and I there was a lot of
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: John stay in most knowledge UH into that. So I'm
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: going to say four points for Drew.
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: I think the biggest part of my stamost knowledge is
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: really specifically his cameo on the show Clone High, which
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: I was like, that's a terrible reference point to make.
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: Who's gonna know that one?
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Just like Clone High? Have you ever seen Clone High?
- 1:04:42Speaker 8: Now?
- 1:04:42Speaker 6: Is it like with clones?
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: Yes, of clones of famous dead people?
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: JFK is the jock ab linking is the nerd? Actually
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: to watch it. The first season, greatest thing you'll ever see.
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: They rebooted into the second season like recently, but that
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: first season, Oh, go back and watch it's brilliant.
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: I think I'm gonna give three points to Aiden because
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: I liked the friendly Cryptids aspect and there was a
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: lot of pangolin knowledge in there, and John I did
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: really like your encounter. It was I just I'm giving
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: it two points because I have to give something two points.
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: Yeah, it was not good. I hang my head in shame,
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: ye neck of Yoursath Taylor Thomas. I want to know that.
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: What now?
- 1:05:32Speaker 7: What's funny is I almost wait, who said charch Truce?
- 1:05:36Speaker 7: Because I almost said chart Truce myself. That's the kind
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: of go through random color. I went Crimson instead, and
- 1:05:41Speaker 7: in fact, Crimson Panglin were both mine. I didn't realize
- 1:05:44Speaker 7: everyone loved pangolins plucking rule.
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: Big comic book.
- 1:05:49Speaker 7: Once that had a had a Panglin or giant humanoid
- 1:05:52Speaker 7: panglin named janis nice.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: Need to see that art please, It's awesome.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: Aiden at first submitted Robin Williams, just like Druidid, so
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: really I.
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: Had to change it. Yeah, but I'm really glad that
- 1:06:07Speaker 5: I got Robin Williams because I had to google John
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: Stamos and I can't even remember the name of the
- 1:06:12Speaker 5: other person. They are not they are not cultural touchstones
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: over here.
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: No, yeah, even Jonathan Tiller Thomas. I'm like, I know,
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: I know the name, but I could not tell you
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: who they are off the top of my head.
- 1:06:22Speaker 6: The Home Improvement not make it out of the United States.
- 1:06:24Speaker 7: That's not I should should okay, like I had a
- 1:06:28Speaker 7: crutch or something.
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: Yeah, like all the girls when we were killed.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: All right, Well that's the end. Of the round.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: Let's ask the humble Platypus to calculate the latest scores. Wait,
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: you haven't been encrypted since the eighteen eighties. Get out
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: of here, you duck build bastard. Sorry about that, everyone.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: The moth Maidens are on thirteen points. The foreskin Walkers
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: are still just behind with twelve points.
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: There we go.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: We're doing close.
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: I'll take I'll take scraping by.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: I find that round three next after these commercials that,
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: as you are a Cryptid fan, advertisers believe you'll fall
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: for back six. Round three is called mass Tasker. It's
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: the game where each team will have five minutes to
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: complete a series of ten Cryptid themed mini challenges. I
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: will start the timer and players will select numbers from
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: one to ten in any order they like. They then
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: must complete each challenge for a point each, giving a
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: potential of ten points total, with maybe some bonus points
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: thrown in there. We usually play this where the losing
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: team decides if they want to go first or second
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: the moment.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: That's the foreskin Walkers.
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: John, you got a preference? Oh jeez, you haven't done
- 1:07:43Speaker 6: this before. Do you want to watch that first?
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:07:46Speaker 7: I mean I've heard it on a number of episodes.
- 1:07:49Speaker 7: But I'm oh boy, I'm fucking nervous. I'm not prepared
- 1:07:55Speaker 7: to be great.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: Whatever happens is what's supposed to happen.
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: Yeah, so is that second? Yeah?
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: A second? Okay?
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: And then for the moth Maidens, I have two lists here.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: I have the big Foot list and the Sasquatch list.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: Which one would you like? I'm feeling sasquatchy, feeling sasquatching, Well, yeah,
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: I'll squatch again. This has worked out well for both teams.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: So you're going with the sasquatch list. Okay, are you
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: both ready?
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: Ready?
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: You're five minutes starts now.
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: Number six.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: Number six one player must give themselves a unicorn horn
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: and wear it for the rest of the game.
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: Okay, I'm gonna start working on that YouTube. Number five okay, sure, five.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: Number five, Create a blurry photo of ENCRYPTID and send
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: it to me on discord. That's take a blurry photo
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: of ACRYPTID and send it to me on discord.
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: Okay, I need to disappear for a second, Yes, and
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: go and do number four.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Take number four.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: Find an item that looks like it's used for finding
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: cryptids and show it to camera.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Or camera for a second while, go look for that
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: while we're back. Yeah. Absolutely, Oh my horns are the way.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: It's gotta stay there for the rest of this benj
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: on any observations on this At.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: The moment, I am excited to.
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: Do whatever.
- 1:09:15Speaker 6: Oh my god, that was Quickture's back.
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, let's what have you got, drean to bait
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: my unicorn trap with a buyer chord the unicorns?
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I'll take it, and I like that it's
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: unicorn corded as well.
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: Yes, no, my head. Let's take number seven.
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: Number seven. You might need to wait for your partner
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: to return, because it's give me a conversation between two
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: lockness monsters about the state of lockness.
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: Okay, so we'll come back to that when it ends. Back,
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: let's do number three.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: Number three.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: One player must screech like a thunderbird every fifteen seconds
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: for the rest of the game, and you go to
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: that one the rest of the game or the rest
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: of the round, the rest of the round. Can you
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: screech like a thunderbird every fifteen seconds?
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: Sure?
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: Well, I don't know what that sounds like, but let's go.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: Yeah, you can decide, right now, yep, go for it, lovely.
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: We have to have a conversation like two lucks monsters
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: about the state of the lock. You're ready, sure, while
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: you're screaming like an eagle, still like a thunderbird, I
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: agree completely this state.
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: Like all since since the advent of the vape, we've
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: just had a lot more letter in the.
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: I mean, while we're sticking ahead of the.
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: Lake, I'm not entirely sure of what what the chemicals
- 1:10:40Speaker 5: are doing to our bodies. Like it can it be good?
- 1:10:42Speaker 5: It can.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: That's a great conversation.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: Getting the point number eight number eight spell cooler camber
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: one letter at a time, back and forth between teammates.
- 1:10:55Speaker 8: Okay correct, oh correct, oh correct, ah l correct A
- 1:11:06Speaker 8: correct k correct.
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: Can you say the word again one time?
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: Cooler camber?
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: Ah A.
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: Correct, uh m correct.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: B yes a yes correct number nine.
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: Do your own research and tell me what the flatwood
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: monster's head resembles.
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: If I don't have to do the research, spade, that counts.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeahady absolutely. Two to draw a picture of the
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: Beast of Dean. Bonus point for the most accurate beast
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: of Dean.
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: Also drawing that one for us.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: We still need one in ten A, would you like
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: one or ten one?
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: Find something that could represent the Moffman and show it
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: to camera.
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: Oh sh I sure, yeah, Here you go.
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: A tenner ten.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: Call a friend or loved one and convince them that
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: you've just seen a cryptid of your choice. Point if
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: they answer the phone. Bonus points if they believe you.
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: Do you have someone you can call while I'm drawing.
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: Um, I can try to.
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: In a second. Here's my drawing the Beast of Dean.
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: It's Winchester in the sasquatch. Pose blurrier. There you go, blurrier.
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: Let me call some if I can get the answer.
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: If they answer in the next eighteen seconds, you at
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: least get a point.
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: Oh god, the thunderbird is getting unicorn horn.
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: Come on, answer answer, enter answer.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: Two one, and that's your time.
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: I'm so sorry and he just answered. Sorry, Ben, I
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: was calling, you know, I saw a sasquatch. We'll talk
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: about it on the flight Monday. Bye.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: I loved how defeat it that sound? Oh my goodness, I'll.
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: Take this off my head. Jesus cross my arms for
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: so tis.
- 1:13:13Speaker 5: I like I was panicking because I was going through
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: my contacts of like who I could call where I
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: could convince them I've seen a cryptid and they'd also
- 1:13:21Speaker 5: not be concerned that I'm screaming every fifteen seconds. Yeah,
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: and I couldn't really find anyone.
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: Which I believe you did screech every fifteen seconds even
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: if it did.
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: Thank you for keeping the timer in your frame, Yes,
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: so I could keep.
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: Track of that.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Yeah, just about did we?
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: There was all ten, right, we we at least we
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: heard all.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: You at least heard all ten of them. I believe
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: I've just seen sorry, I've just seen the cryptid.
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: Oh, I've just seen the cryptid that isn't Yeah.
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: Can you post it in like the chat? Yeah?
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: Can you post it there?
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: Aiden Yeah, definitely a point for that.
- 1:14:03Speaker 5: My partners downstairs like watching like a recording of a musical,
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: and I just like burst in turned the big light
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: on them. It was just like, you have to take
- 1:14:11Speaker 5: pictures on me. It's beautiful and props to them. Didn't
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: ask any questions, was immediately. Actually they did ask a question,
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: They said, would you like to stand by the candle?
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: But because I'd thrown a blanket on I was I
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: thought probably not.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: Oh my goodness. You did indeed get nine out of ten.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: Just the probably the trickiest challenge of the phone call
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: for sure.
- 1:14:41Speaker 6: The heat is on, boy, yeah oh boy, this is
- 1:14:45Speaker 6: our chance to tie.
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: It is usually to go second. One point down thought, yeah,
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: you were just one point down.
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: I had to draw. It was the it was the
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: Beast of Dean.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: We're just a force away from tying.
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: One little skin will circumcise you.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: That's fighting talk.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: Okay, So we are going to move on over to
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: the fur Skin Walkers and their five minute challenge. It
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: is usually easier to go second because some of the
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: challenges you might recognize as being pretty similar, because you
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: are going to have the big the bigfoot list and yes,
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: Mosman played into their favor, but I think one of
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: these will play into your favor just fine.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: In return, Superman, Yeah yeah yeah, Superman.
- 1:15:33Speaker 4: I mean we discussed aliens being crypted earlier.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: Technically it's true Krypton Yeah yeah yeah cool.
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: Oh oh well confirmation, yes, yes it is. Yep, all
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: crypts come from Crypton. Expert analysis says you are correct.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: Okay, are you both ready to face these ten challenges?
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: Stuart, yep.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: Name some numbers. Your time starts now ten. Ten.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: Call a friend or loved one and convince them that
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: you've just seen a cryptid of your choice. Point for
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: if they answer, and bonus points if they believe you,
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: and put them on speaker.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: Ideally, okay, number nine, number nine.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Find an item that looks like it's used for hunting
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: cryptids and show it to camera.
- 1:16:20Speaker 6: I'm so yeah, Wyatt, you won't believe it. I just
- 1:16:24Speaker 6: saw a big foot in my backyard. That's it's a cat. No,
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: it's not a cow, it's bigfoot. A cat. No, they
- 1:16:32Speaker 6: walks on two legs. You know what bigfoot looks like, right,
- 1:16:35Speaker 6: He's like a giant ape man. All right, point, all right,
- 1:16:48Speaker 6: all right, this is this is my this is my mothman.
- 1:16:51Speaker 6: Blaster at the other team as well. A number nine okay, six,
- 1:17:00Speaker 6: draw a picture of the Beast of Dean.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: Bonus points for the most accurate Beast of Dean that.
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: Number one.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: Number one.
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: Find something that could represent the Lockness Monster and show
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: it to camera. There we go. Imagine if you've got
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: the opposite lists. Four four spell trooper carbra one letter
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: at a time, back and forth between teammates.
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: H you P A C, A B R A.
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: Well, turn, there's a point five five Create a mysterious
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: footprint and take a photo of it and send it
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: to me on discord.
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: All right, I'm on that one.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: Okay, four four that was spelled Trooper Carbri. You've already
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: had it. Three one player must give themselves Jackalope antlers
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: and wear them for the rest of the game.
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: And do you have any antlers? He might they're Americans.
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: They hunt was a chance? Okay? Two?
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: Two?
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: One player must growl like a yetti every fifteen seconds
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: for the rest of the game.
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: I'll start thirty nice.
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: Just that every fifteen you're both working hard on a couple.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: There's still just a couple of nice.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: I love it. That's that's a drawing for sure. Unpack
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: it later.
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: What do we got? What do we got?
- 1:18:36Speaker 7: What do we got left? Okay, I can tell you,
- 1:18:38Speaker 7: just say numbers. We need jackal O pantlers. All right,
- 1:18:43Speaker 7: where is my piece of paper? Number seven?
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: Give me a conversation between two Jersey devils about the
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: state of New Jersey.
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: Okay, number number eight.
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: Number eight, do your own research and give me the
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: height of the Loveland fro Oh my goodness.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: Uh Loveland frog.
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: And I think you're working actively on all the ones
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: that you have here.
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm pretty sure.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Still, I'm still I'm still the whole time.
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: Is that what the deal? Feet tall?
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll take that three or four feet.
- 1:19:24Speaker 7: All right, Jacob Ben we have to be two Jersey
- 1:19:27Speaker 7: devils talking about the state of New Jersey US.
- 1:19:30Speaker 9: I love the garden here, it's great. Oh yeah, the
- 1:19:33Speaker 9: shore's really trashy, man. Everybody's got everyone's got a bunch
- 1:19:37Speaker 9: of fucking spray tns and turnpike. Man, it's a real
- 1:19:41Speaker 9: piece of ship, right man. Last time, some bad oysters
- 1:19:46Speaker 9: might be from Boston, now, ye, flying around fucking the
- 1:19:52Speaker 9: Jaeger bombs.
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: Jeger bombs.
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: I'll give you it. That's that's a Jersey reference, I know.
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: Do we have anything else? I don't know anymore.
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: No, did you did you to You've got that. That's
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: the that's the yetti. Did you send me the.
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: Discord?
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: Nice?
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: Lovely?
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: I think you potentially have them all beyond making sure
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: that you growl Ah.
- 1:20:18Speaker 6: It was only nine seconds left, so I think that
- 1:20:19Speaker 6: covers it. Well, yeah, we can do it again anyway.
- 1:20:23Speaker 6: Wow for the end.
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, there we go. There's your five minutes.
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: As far as I can tell, that was a lot
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: of completed challenges right there. I mean, how do we
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: feel about the growls? Did we notice any gaps longer
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: than fifteen seconds?
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: I didn't.
- 1:20:41Speaker 5: I that were like that started just as the second
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: ticked over. But I'm not going to be petty about it, Like.
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: I'm sure I did the same thing with the longest
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: gap I got was seventeen seconds, but I think that's
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: close enough to be roughly fifteen seconds that I think.
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: And the growls were so good that I think the points.
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: They were all a long rowl, So I think they were. Hey,
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: I appreciate it. I appreciate that it's big foot time.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: You know, he's like that guy he's.
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: A few minutes late and kind of had a focus,
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: all right. So I think that's ten out of ten.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: And may I say, what a lovely set of antlers?
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: Seriously we had those around? Yeah?
- 1:21:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I find them on the property every once.
- 1:21:28Speaker 4: In a while. I tell you.
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I was like, I was concerned. I was like,
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: that's a really difficult challenge. And then remember that like
- 1:21:36Speaker 5: John has just a pelt in the background.
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: Like like a YETI or something, you know, and everything.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: Oh fantastic. You both did a great job there. Yeah,
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: I think we can look at our beasts of Dean
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: side by side for bonus point for most accurate Beast
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: of Dean?
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: Who did better Dean Winchester in the sasquatch pose or
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: what looks like from letend of Zelda okreene f time.
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: I guess I like.
- 1:22:04Speaker 6: The belly button.
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: Yeah, the belly Button's great.
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: John has gone for for accuracy in terms of the
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: Beast of Dean being like a warthog type figure. Yeah,
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: so I think for accuracy, I've got to go with John,
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: even though what Drew did is very clever.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: And funny and we should all.
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: Oh yes, the pity.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Beast of Dean is just like wild
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: paws were more of a thing in the UK back
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: in the day.
- 1:22:34Speaker 5: And yeah, I like, I was like, oh wait, it's
- 1:22:37Speaker 5: probably the Forest of Dean. I'll quickly look this up
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: and like, yeah, it's it's I think someone just saw
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: like a weirdly big big I mean it is a beast,
- 1:22:50Speaker 5: that's true.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean like.
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: They were probably drunk on a fishing trip in the
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: middle of the woods.
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: Okay, that is the end of round three. Thank you
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: for all of those instagrammable clips let's ask my uncle
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: who swears he's seen one. He swears down on his
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: life mate to calculate the latest scores. Those scores are
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: the moth Maidens are on twenty two points, but the
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: foreskin Walkers have taken the lead with twenty three points.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: Why not Fringe, Let's hope the quickfire rounds in French.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: Before we get to that quick fire round, let's talk
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: prizes this episode. Star Prize is the concept of belief.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: Whether it's Bigfoot, unicorns, or Jesus. It's important to believe
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: in something even if we never see it in our lifetimes.
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: And after that joke, I'm never seeing Jesus. But our
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: winning team will also receive those eggs Aiden was talking
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: about earlier. Next is our crucial quick fire around, But
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: first we must play one final set of ads unless
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: you join us over on Patreon, and then it's ad
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: free and Big Science isn't so involved with their pesky
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: facts and logic.
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: Wake up sheep all.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: Our final quick fire around will test your broader pop
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: culture knowledge, and it's called these ones definitely aren't real.
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: In this game, I will give our players clues to
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: a fictional cryptid from pop culture history. So that's something
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: that in universe is referred to as a rare legendary
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: or folklore like creature, or they have cryptid like elements
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: about them. Those clues will be in the style of
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: a Victorian specimen collector, which I now realize is the
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: accent I gave myself a week ago reporting on the
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: different new species of legendary animals. They just turn out
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: to be elephants, all of them. There is, of course
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: a classic gateleaper's twist. You need to say I seemed
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: in your best backwards country voice before giving your answer.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: Otherwise I cannot give you the point. It's quick fire,
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: so buzz in by yelling out your team name. Let's
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: practice that now lovely stuff math maidens versus foreskin love
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: It is. So, for example, if I said, ah, yes,
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: quite a large specimen unique to the rather ominous Skull Island. Yes, yes, John,
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: I seen it. I seen King Kong exactly like that,
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: That would get you the point. You can interrupt me
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: at any point during the clue. Should we start the timer?
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: Hell?
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: Yeah, here we go. Ah yes.
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: Only captured on a shaky, grainy nineties camcorder, but interviews
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: with local residents suggests, Yes, John.
- 1:25:55Speaker 4: I seen it. I seen the blair Witch.
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: It is indeed the blair Witch. Good stuff, that's what
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: I was thinking about it.
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: Ah.
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: Yes, a giant prehistoric monster awakened by nuclear radiation. I
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: think I have Foreskin. First, I've seen it. I don't
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: seen Godzilla. It is Godzilla, good stuff, Godzilla?
- 1:26:13Speaker 4: Sorry? Ah.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: Yes, you have to delve quite greedily and too deep
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: in order to unearth one of these ferocious demons from
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: our Yes, Aiden.
- 1:26:27Speaker 5: I've seen it. I seen the bell rog.
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: Yeah, well done.

- 1:26:34Speaker 2: Only found in freezing cold climates, This yety like creature
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: has been known to tug.
- 1:26:40Speaker 7: Yes, John, I've seen it. Oh shit, it's not specific enough.

- 1:26:47Speaker 2: That's not what I've got here this YETI like creature
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: has been known to target Jedi.
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: But don't fostate that.
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: I'm gonna go Moth Maiden because I heard them both
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: at exactly the same time.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: I've seen it.
- 1:26:58Speaker 4: I did the.

- 1:27:24Speaker 4: Okay, I've seen it. I've seen the wampa.
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: Okay, it is a wamp.

- 1:30:12Speaker 2: Yes, I knew this was lurking down under. It says

- 1:30:38Speaker 2: genitals before you're allowed to read about them. Even their
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: name sounds like a slur on. There many mythical creatures.
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: They did whole series about it, but.

- 1:32:42Speaker 4: It is very much in progress, so.
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: That's lovely to hear. And it's independent comic book creation.
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: It doesn't need to happen fast. Happens when you're ready.
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: But your readers wanted to happen fast. I'm dying from
- 1:32:53Speaker 4: the next episode. I need the next issue.
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: Man, Fantastic and Geek Exploration. You've had a couple of
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: episodes out semi recently.
- 1:33:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33:01Speaker 7: Yeah, we are planning an episode that we we should
- 1:33:04Speaker 7: have planned to record right after this, but we didn't.
- 1:33:06Speaker 7: We've got our hundredth episode coming up, like our hundredth
- 1:33:09Speaker 7: main topic episode, and it is it is only the topic.
- 1:33:15Speaker 4: Of endings or finales.
- 1:33:18Speaker 7: Ah, so maybe something out before this, but no, but
- 1:33:24Speaker 7: coming soon.
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: Yeah, excellent, excellent stuff.
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: Do you check out Space Oddity's fantastic sci fi comic

- 1:33:49Speaker 2: ventures happening or performance ventures in general.
- 1:33:53Speaker 5: There's nothing nothing concrete. I will just like generally plug
- 1:33:57Speaker 5: the theater slash like entertainment company. We're kind of branching out.
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: We did a we put on a gig with b
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: one of our members, like arranged a completely DIY gig
- 1:34:10Speaker 5: with like local and national artists in Liverpool and it
- 1:34:15Speaker 5: went really really well. We I think we like sold
- 1:34:18Speaker 5: out the capacity. It wasn't a huge like venue, but
- 1:34:21Speaker 5: like we sold all the tickets that we could wed
- 1:34:23Speaker 5: as we did it as a pay what you can
- 1:34:27Speaker 5: so it was like you could come in completely free
- 1:34:28Speaker 5: if you wanted, and some people paid like double to
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: like pay it forward kind of thing. And I think
- 1:34:35Speaker 5: we like we made enough money off of it to
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: like pay all of the bands and artists that appeared
- 1:34:40Speaker 5: with us. So we'll be doing a few more of those,
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: and also we're working on some more theater projects for
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: later this year as well. So followers on Instagram is

- 1:35:10Speaker 2: and the link to that will be in the description
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: for this. I'm pointing downwards, but it ain't going to
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: be there.
- 1:35:17Speaker 4: Let's see that.
