- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio super Ships Start Homes looks a
- 0:18Speaker 1: past that side, Cussie over the Tilder, He's got thick
- 0:21Speaker 1: touchstand hurt, Lucky Deep the chefs deepense gets in a
- 0:30Speaker 1: troubles touch Fa Hurts is gonna run and Star Mahomes
- 0:34Speaker 1: He's hurt. Don't underestimate how top Patrick Mahomes is my
- 0:38Speaker 1: pastor Tony. People walk into the firstly to the game,
- 0:42Speaker 1: white open skyboard, touchdown, They plush, they sneak put the
- 0:47Speaker 1: touch down. What bad ankle? Twenty five yards scrambled five
- 0:51Speaker 1: thirty five time. The kick is good for the second
- 0:54Speaker 1: time in four seasons. The Lobarty Trophy has a big
- 0:59Speaker 1: red reflection that cheats her champions. About those cheez, how
- 1:14Speaker 1: about that game? Yep? Seasons over, but what a way
- 1:19Speaker 1: to end it. Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs who
- 1:24Speaker 1: had done it yet again. And welcome to a Monday
- 1:30Speaker 1: day after Super Bowl fifty seven. We're finally in the
- 1:34Speaker 1: off season edition. It's the off season. What it is
- 1:38Speaker 1: of NFL Now on NFL Network From our newsroom in
- 1:41Speaker 1: Los Angeles. I hope you didn't you know forget to
- 1:44Speaker 1: go to work or school today. We're happy that you
- 1:47Speaker 1: were here with us. My name is andrews Ceciliano. This
- 1:49Speaker 1: is Steve White actually taking in Kansas City. There's gonna
- 1:52Speaker 1: be a lot of absences called in at work and
- 1:54Speaker 1: school because everyone is going to be in the streets
- 1:56Speaker 1: doing the stinky leg. Try to do what Travis Kelsey
- 2:00Speaker 1: did in the end zone of the first quarter. By
- 2:02Speaker 1: the way, I think I heard like America tries to
- 2:05Speaker 1: colins sick today something like that. Yeah, today it might
- 2:08Speaker 1: be greater than my homestade. Missouri. We're here working hard
- 2:11Speaker 1: for you though. We're happy to be here in a
- 2:14Speaker 1: game we had last night. Patrick Mahomes Jalen Hurts picking
- 2:17Speaker 1: up fourteen seven of the second quarter. Jalen Hurts just
- 2:20Speaker 1: dropped the football. Steve and I are arguing whether or
- 2:22Speaker 1: not Nick Bolton could have been Defensive m VP if
- 2:24Speaker 1: he had two scooping scores, but he had one, I
- 2:26Speaker 1: would have voted for him. He had one first fumble
- 2:30Speaker 1: return for a touch shout at the Super Bowl since
- 2:31Speaker 1: Bleak Jackson and Santa Clara in Super Bowl fifty. Pick
- 2:35Speaker 1: it up fourth quarter, Eagles need a touchdown Eagles need
- 2:39Speaker 1: a two point conversion. They get the touchdown from Jalelen Hurts.
- 2:43Speaker 1: They would eventually tie it and we are thirty five
- 2:47Speaker 1: all but Mahomes has a shot, and he has tied out,
- 2:51Speaker 1: and he has he has an ankle to run on
- 2:54Speaker 1: somehow twenty six yards on this scrambled inside the one
- 2:58Speaker 1: incredible play and you see him pull away from guys
- 3:00Speaker 1: like a San Reddick on that bad leg while he's running.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I was told he couldn't run. He can rat sorceing
- 3:06Speaker 1: bad soorcing. This is the play of the game, the
- 3:08Speaker 1: player that people will be talking about in Philadelphia for
- 3:11Speaker 1: years to come. A hold is called on James Bradberry
- 3:14Speaker 1: for tugging the jersey of Juju Smith Schuster. Yeah, it
- 3:17Speaker 1: was a timing of it, right. They let physical play
- 3:19Speaker 1: happen throughout the game to call it. Then he's was
- 3:22Speaker 1: really driving everybody that was on third down. It allowed
- 3:25Speaker 1: the Eagles to milk the clock, or rather the Chiefs
- 3:28Speaker 1: to milk the clock in It leads and the Harrison
- 3:30Speaker 1: Butker touchdown thirty eight thirty five Chiefs beat the Eagles.
- 3:38Speaker 1: That competitor in you to be in this game, that's
- 3:39Speaker 1: what you work for your entire life. Uh and uh,
- 3:42Speaker 1: I knew I wasn't coming out of this game. And
- 3:44Speaker 1: even with that high angles brain that get kind of
- 3:46Speaker 1: reaggravated a little bit. I'll worry about that in the
- 3:48Speaker 1: all season. Why in the world is it that when
- 3:50Speaker 1: you guys are down double digits with this guy at
- 3:52Speaker 1: the helm, that there is no panic in this team? Yeah? Well,
- 3:55Speaker 1: they trust him first of all. And then he goes
- 3:58Speaker 1: in at halftime and I'm going to you, okay, and
- 4:01Speaker 1: he goes, can you you know, can you do this?
- 4:03Speaker 1: I can do everything. Just leave me alone and let
- 4:06Speaker 1: me go play. And and then the big old line
- 4:08Speaker 1: stepped up for him. I thought they did a great job,
- 4:10Speaker 1: the running backs, receivers rather the great ones like him.
- 4:14Speaker 1: The great ones make everybody around them better, man, and
- 4:17Speaker 1: nobody does it better than this guy right here. The
- 4:19Speaker 1: patrick and the offense did a great job to get
- 4:21Speaker 1: us in field goal range. And then I had the
- 4:22Speaker 1: easy part. The offensive line did a great job walking,
- 4:25Speaker 1: great staff, great hold, and you know, thankfully the ball
- 4:27Speaker 1: went through. All glory to God. How do you not
- 4:29Speaker 1: give up a sack to that defense? Yeah? Just uh,
- 4:32Speaker 1: you know, we've been hearing it all week just about
- 4:34Speaker 1: how historical their d line is and how no one
- 4:36Speaker 1: can block them. So, uh, you know, we wanted to
- 4:38Speaker 1: come out and make a statement tonight, so we uh
- 4:40Speaker 1: came out and protected our butts off. You know, gotta
- 4:42Speaker 1: go into the run game too. So that was a
- 4:43Speaker 1: lot of fun. I can't really put it into words
- 4:45Speaker 1: when I'm feeling right now, just been so blessed, so lucky,
- 4:48Speaker 1: so fortunate, and man, I'm just proud of probably part
- 4:51Speaker 1: of his team, probably be part of his parties, guys
- 4:53Speaker 1: on his team, his coaches, this organization is probably be
- 4:55Speaker 1: here for real. There's nothing you can really say to
- 4:58Speaker 1: uh a loved one in in a situation like that. Um,
- 5:03Speaker 1: you know you uh you Joe ground all the time
- 5:05Speaker 1: and say that you want to be your brother in
- 5:07Speaker 1: the biggest stage ever. But it's, um, it's a it's
- 5:10Speaker 1: a weird feeling. It's a weird feeling. And that team
- 5:12Speaker 1: that uh, that team had had great leadership, great coaches.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Obviously at the it came down to the end and
- 5:19Speaker 1: we got all the respect in the world for those Eagles. Man,
- 5:21Speaker 1: But there's nothing really I could say to him, mother
- 5:23Speaker 1: than I love him and uh and he and he
- 5:25Speaker 1: played a hell of the year at hell of the season, man,
- 5:28Speaker 1: have that emotion? Is Jason Kelsey gonna hang it up?
- 5:31Speaker 1: He wouldn't say. After the game, Travis Kelsey admitted that
- 5:33Speaker 1: he only has a couple of more years left and
- 5:35Speaker 1: and what a day it was for him, and what
- 5:37Speaker 1: a day it was for Patrick Mahomes as well. When
- 5:40Speaker 1: you thought maybe it's over at halftime, I mean the
- 5:45Speaker 1: way that Twitter or Chief's Kingdom were really any football
- 5:48Speaker 1: fan collectively held our breaths here just hoping that we
- 5:53Speaker 1: would get the second half that we all deserve and
- 5:57Speaker 1: an end to a great season with football's greatest player.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Let's let's call Patrick Mahomes wood. He is on the field.
- 6:03Speaker 1: We got it, and the Chiefs get another one. Two
- 6:05Speaker 1: Super Bowl wins, three appearances in the span of four years.
- 6:11Speaker 1: They are the champions of the NFL and Omar Ruiz
- 6:15Speaker 1: is still in Arizona with the story here of a
- 6:19Speaker 1: total team effort. Omart not just the guy that won
- 6:23Speaker 1: the m p P. Yeah, we talked about Andy Reid
- 6:28Speaker 1: and Patrick Mahomes and that electrifying Kansas City Chiefs offense
- 6:32Speaker 1: all the time, and that praise is so well deserved,
- 6:35Speaker 1: but to win the Super Bowl, they needed that collective
- 6:38Speaker 1: team effort, and that's what they got. We saw the
- 6:40Speaker 1: Nick Bolton scoop and score with the defensive touchdown, then
- 6:44Speaker 1: Candarius Tony longest punt return in Super Bowl history. They
- 6:48Speaker 1: got the special teams contribution. I asked Brett Feach, the
- 6:51Speaker 1: Chiefs general manager, after the game, which of these two
- 6:53Speaker 1: Super Bowls is more special to him, this second one
- 6:56Speaker 1: or the first one they got after the twenty nineteen season.
- 6:59Speaker 1: He said this one was because of how they turned
- 7:01Speaker 1: over the roster. They had so many young players contributing
- 7:04Speaker 1: to this football team. In fact, two rookies, Sky Moore
- 7:08Speaker 1: Isaiah Pachecko scored touchdowns last night. Then you have another
- 7:11Speaker 1: newcomer in Cadarius Tony scored a third Toner. So they're
- 7:15Speaker 1: getting contributions in almost every way. I spoke with safety
- 7:18Speaker 1: Justin Reid after the game. I had a conversation with
- 7:21Speaker 1: him at last year's NFL Honors when he was there
- 7:24Speaker 1: representing the Houston Texans. As there Walter Payton Man of
- 7:27Speaker 1: the Year nominee, he didn't know what his few football
- 7:29Speaker 1: future was. He was picked up by the Chiefs. He
- 7:32Speaker 1: took great pride in coming to this team as one
- 7:34Speaker 1: of the newcomers to buy in to that super Bowl
- 7:37Speaker 1: standard where it is now with Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes,
- 7:40Speaker 1: super Bowl or bust every single year for them, if
- 7:43Speaker 1: they don't win the Super Bowl, it is a disappointment
- 7:45Speaker 1: as a newcomer. He took pride in upholding that standard,
- 7:48Speaker 1: and not only that, helping bring those young players along.
- 7:51Speaker 1: It's been so well documented about how many young players
- 7:54Speaker 1: and rookies were playing in the secondary. They stepped up
- 7:57Speaker 1: late in the year. They stepped up again in the
- 7:59Speaker 1: Super Bowl, doing enough to win in that huge Super
- 8:02Speaker 1: Bowl fifties seven win. The Kansas City Chiefs perhaps now
- 8:05Speaker 1: guys on the cusp of a dynasty here. Yeah, there
- 8:08Speaker 1: was a lot of dynasty talk postgame omar, you know,
- 8:11Speaker 1: in the Chiefs media room and in in locker room
- 8:14Speaker 1: and things like that. You talk about the collective effort.
- 8:16Speaker 1: We cannot overlook what this offensive line did. Right again,
- 8:19Speaker 1: you heard Creed Humphrey telling Stacy Dale's we heard all
- 8:23Speaker 1: for two weeks about how great the Eagles defensive front was,
- 8:25Speaker 1: and they took that to heart, and you saw coming
- 8:28Speaker 1: out of halftime the commitment to run the football second
- 8:32Speaker 1: half nineteen rushes for one hundred and nineteen yards after
- 8:36Speaker 1: having the seven rushes for thirty nine yards in the
- 8:38Speaker 1: first half. Also, Patrick Mahomes scrambled a little bit, but
- 8:42Speaker 1: they didn't get a sack on Patrick Mahomes. And that
- 8:44Speaker 1: was a big thing coming in because you heard about
- 8:46Speaker 1: all the sack totals about that Eagles defensive front. So
- 8:49Speaker 1: the way that offensive line played, and when you see
- 8:51Speaker 1: some things when you watch this tape over and over,
- 8:53Speaker 1: you're seeing those guys on the edges getting knocked to
- 8:56Speaker 1: the ground. Sometimes they said they slipped on that kind
- 8:58Speaker 1: of scratchy surface, but they were held down there. The
- 9:02Speaker 1: running backs were chipping those past, not letting me get
- 9:06Speaker 1: free runs. I mean, it was very physical up front.
- 9:08Speaker 1: But that was a huge key to what happened in
- 9:10Speaker 1: this game and how the momentum changed in the second half.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Was the guys up front for the Kansa to chief
- 9:16Speaker 1: on both sides. The ball tired hearing about how great
- 9:18Speaker 1: the Eagles were, and they wanted to prove themselves and
- 9:21Speaker 1: they absolutely acquitted themselves quite well. First team to rush
- 9:24Speaker 1: for a hundred yards in the second half that season
- 9:27Speaker 1: against the Eagles on there. Go ahead, Yeah, Orlando Brown
- 9:33Speaker 1: here at all that talk. In fact, he said, put
- 9:35Speaker 1: zero sacks on a shirt. Andy Reid challenging those big
- 9:38Speaker 1: fellas all week long, and they certainly responded. Tray Smith
- 9:42Speaker 1: telling me after the game that they didn't necessarily play
- 9:44Speaker 1: a perfect game, but they just knew they had to
- 9:46Speaker 1: keep Patrick Mahomes clean and eventually number fifteen would elevate
- 9:51Speaker 1: the team, and he certainly did that, the offensive line
- 9:53Speaker 1: responding to that challenge, and like you said, Steve, a
- 9:56Speaker 1: huge part of last night's win. Also a huge part
- 9:59Speaker 1: of last night's win. Let's give Andy Reid some flowers
- 10:01Speaker 1: here as well. And Andy did say after the game,
- 10:03Speaker 1: when asked point blank will play it later by our
- 10:05Speaker 1: our Emmanuel Sanders on the field, are you gonna retire?
- 10:07Speaker 1: He said no. He reiterated that again this morning. But
- 10:10Speaker 1: for all of us have talked about the game all week,
- 10:12Speaker 1: and obviously we we did until we were blue in
- 10:15Speaker 1: the face or blue suits in the face here today.
- 10:18Speaker 1: We all said the Eagles might have the better team,
- 10:20Speaker 1: but that you can't overlook the fact that Patrick Mahomes
- 10:23Speaker 1: and Andy Reid are still on the other sideline. And
- 10:25Speaker 1: what read did I said the play of the game
- 10:28Speaker 1: with his play designed in the red zone. I've never
- 10:31Speaker 1: been against Andy Reid in the red zone. But let's
- 10:34Speaker 1: look specifically at how wide open and how wide open
- 10:37Speaker 1: Canarius Tony got. We have the Canarius Tony play from
- 10:40Speaker 1: the red d he goes in motion. Obviously you got
- 10:44Speaker 1: Darius Slay going in motion and the safety to go over.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I have that quarter bam. Great job Ted Wyn from
- 10:52Speaker 1: the Athletic pointing out the similarity to something Doug Peterson
- 10:56Speaker 1: ran earlier this year. Here is it the second time
- 11:00Speaker 1: around sky Moore the other side of the and then
- 11:04Speaker 1: here's Steve white Is week four against the Eagles. Doug
- 11:09Speaker 1: Peterson got Jamal Agnew loose the same play, same thing,
- 11:12Speaker 1: you know, And part of it is the concentration and
- 11:14Speaker 1: the focus on the slot. Guys. You look at the
- 11:17Speaker 1: coverage on the slot. Everybody breaks with him initially. That
- 11:20Speaker 1: gives the motion man the space to cut out on
- 11:23Speaker 1: the slot. Both times in the Super Bowl was Travis Kelsey.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Clearly the Eagles were like, we're not gonna let Kelsey
- 11:28Speaker 1: beat us because that's Mahome's favorite red zone target. So
- 11:31Speaker 1: when the y guy motioned Tony or sky More. They
- 11:35Speaker 1: were like, we're gonna make sure we've got a Brackett
- 11:38Speaker 1: or whatever coverage we're gonna play on Kelsey and then
- 11:41Speaker 1: that's a little duck out. I mean, Eric bi Enemy
- 11:44Speaker 1: said post game, the offensive coordinated for the Chiefs. We
- 11:46Speaker 1: saw some things in coverage in the first half and
- 11:49Speaker 1: some things on film. He did not specified whose film.
- 11:52Speaker 1: It might have been the Jacks film that we knew
- 11:55Speaker 1: we could work those plays in the red zones. Doug
- 11:57Speaker 1: Peterson Andy Reid protege. Obviously, Doug Peterson deserves some credit
- 12:01Speaker 1: for his Super Bowl play calling just five years ago
- 12:04Speaker 1: for the Eagles, and now Andy Reid with the creative
- 12:07Speaker 1: play call. Really just a great second half here all around.
- 12:10Speaker 1: When Mahomes looked as if that ankle might truly limited,
- 12:14Speaker 1: it was the same ankle truly living him into the
- 12:17Speaker 1: second half, and it did it. The guy started running.
- 12:19Speaker 1: They ran the football as well, if I say, but checko.
- 12:22Speaker 1: And to the end, the Chiefs are Super Bowl champions.
- 12:33Speaker 1: All right. What a week for the Kelsey brothers. What
- 12:36Speaker 1: a night for Travis Kelsey, who caught a touchdown of
- 12:41Speaker 1: the first quarter, who just had a ridiculous game who
- 12:44Speaker 1: won another ring and broke out the Steaky Legs. Thank you,
- 12:47Speaker 1: Andrew Um and it capped off an amazing emotional year.
- 12:55Speaker 1: He joined the guys on the Field game Day fund
- 12:59Speaker 1: the podcast New Heights, and he also dabbles in football
- 13:07Speaker 1: along the way. So I'm curious, what was the conversation
- 13:11Speaker 1: you had with your brother right after the game? Man,
- 13:13Speaker 1: There's nothing I could tell him right now that, uh
- 13:15Speaker 1: that'll make anything feel better. You know, I've been in
- 13:17Speaker 1: a situation where I've lost the Super Bowl and arguably
- 13:20Speaker 1: a worse situation than he's in right now. And you know,
- 13:23Speaker 1: Philadelphia has nothing to be ashamed about that they had
- 13:26Speaker 1: an unbelievable team, unbelievable season and they went down to
- 13:29Speaker 1: the wire right there, and uh, you know, all I
- 13:32Speaker 1: could tell him was I love him, and uh, thanks
- 13:34Speaker 1: for making this one of the best years of my life. Man.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I got to get closer to my brother throughout doing
- 13:38Speaker 1: the podcast throughout the year UM and had a whole
- 13:41Speaker 1: lot of fun doing it. And I appreciate everybody for
- 13:44Speaker 1: for appreciating my family and and our dynamic throughout this
- 13:49Speaker 1: entire wild Super Bowl weekend. It's been. It's been a
- 13:51Speaker 1: wild run how much fun was this the last two
- 13:54Speaker 1: weeks because you had your mom and your dad on
- 13:56Speaker 1: the podcast. Your mom was doing every interview in the
- 13:59Speaker 1: world that was awesome this year. She just seemed to
- 14:01Speaker 1: enjoy it and kind of relish the opportunity. How much
- 14:05Speaker 1: did this mean? Because it can be a little much sometimes. No,
- 14:08Speaker 1: it definitely was a little bit much. And me and
- 14:09Speaker 1: my brother got together earlier on in the week and say,
- 14:11Speaker 1: you know, we might need to tell mom and dad
- 14:13Speaker 1: they can say no to media. You don't have to
- 14:16Speaker 1: say yes to everything. Um. But at the end of
- 14:19Speaker 1: the day, like I said, the way people are, the fans, uh,
- 14:23Speaker 1: the entire world, Um kind of jumped on our our bagwagon,
- 14:27Speaker 1: our Kelsey bandwagon and uh and kind of lifted us
- 14:30Speaker 1: and uh gave my mother and my father all the
- 14:32Speaker 1: flowers that they deserve in life for for being raising
- 14:35Speaker 1: us the way they did. Um. It was the ultimate
- 14:38Speaker 1: ultimate season. Man, How does Travis Kelsey two times World
- 14:42Speaker 1: champions Up, World champion already sound good? But two times
- 14:48Speaker 1: it solidifies the dog It's solidifies and to do it
- 14:51Speaker 1: the way we did through the ups and downs, having
- 14:53Speaker 1: that hiccup in uh in Tampa. UM two years ago,
- 14:57Speaker 1: not being able to get back to the dance last year, um,
- 15:00Speaker 1: and then fighting through every single game in the playoff
- 15:02Speaker 1: to get to here. Man, it's uh, it's so sweet, man,
- 15:04Speaker 1: if feels amazing. There is only one player in the
- 15:07Speaker 1: history of the sport that has scored more postseason touchdowns
- 15:10Speaker 1: than Travis Kelsey, and that is the one and only
- 15:12Speaker 1: Jerry Rice, the Goat, the one and only Jerry Rice. Baby,
- 15:18Speaker 1: it's it's so cool to be in uh, to be
- 15:21Speaker 1: in the conversation with a guy like that. Um, it's
- 15:24Speaker 1: just um, it's a special feeling man. And I uh,
- 15:27Speaker 1: I don't want to stop anytime soon. Man, I'm I'm
- 15:29Speaker 1: coming for you, Jerry. So I'm curious for a guy
- 15:31Speaker 1: who has put himself in the discussions being the greatest
- 15:34Speaker 1: at this position now all time, how the heck do
- 15:37Speaker 1: you get so open about to acts that? Seriously, Coach
- 15:40Speaker 1: Andy Reid. Man, Coach Andy Reid, you gotta understand the
- 15:42Speaker 1: intentions of the play caller and uh and and and
- 15:45Speaker 1: understand the direction of the offense. But at the end
- 15:48Speaker 1: of the day, uh, coach read, uh seems that schemes
- 15:51Speaker 1: schemes some things up and dial some things up that
- 15:55Speaker 1: just give me button naked open in the middle of
- 15:57Speaker 1: the field and I and I appreciated him for it
- 15:59Speaker 1: every single time, and everybody appreciates the visual on that one.
- 16:03Speaker 1: There's a lot of people that are saying, Okay, Patrick
- 16:05Speaker 1: Mahomes is great, but he's only twenty seven. I want
- 16:07Speaker 1: to see more of the body of work. What's what
- 16:11Speaker 1: they're saying. That's what the would say. Just a bunch
- 16:15Speaker 1: of jabronies out there. Pat my Home's baby, your m
- 16:18Speaker 1: v P super Bowl champion twice twice, so the top
- 16:21Speaker 1: five quarterback of all time, Numero uno number one, number one.
- 16:27Speaker 1: You'll see it as as at all all I'm calling
- 16:31Speaker 1: it now. But right now, man, I'm coming on my
- 16:33Speaker 1: guy to be the best to ever do when it's
- 16:35Speaker 1: all said and done all and I know he's the
- 16:36Speaker 1: best to do it right now. Hey, thanks for having
- 16:39Speaker 1: some fun with us. Time super Bowl champions. Travis Kelsey,
- 16:45Speaker 1: best to do it right now, best ever Travis Kelsey.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Speaking of this quarterback, I mean we need to start
- 16:52Speaker 1: having the conversation about Travis Kelsey among the best ever
- 16:55Speaker 1: at his position. You look at the numbers here, he's
- 16:57Speaker 1: gonna be thirty four Steve next to Fall thirty four
- 17:00Speaker 1: in October has another ring. The numbers are are ridiculous,
- 17:04Speaker 1: and as we welcome to Omar Ruiz here as well.
- 17:07Speaker 1: I mean, he has to be in the conversation about
- 17:10Speaker 1: the best ever. I mean, he and Jason Kelsey maybe
- 17:13Speaker 1: retiring as well. I mean, let's give both of those
- 17:15Speaker 1: guys some credit. Absolutely. I mean, so let's let's start
- 17:18Speaker 1: up with Travis since we're talking about the Titans. He's
- 17:20Speaker 1: right there. I mean, it's it's him and Gronk, Right,
- 17:23Speaker 1: Gronx got all the Super Bowls. You know, people are
- 17:26Speaker 1: gonna make the argument for Rob Gronkowski. He was a
- 17:28Speaker 1: great receiving tight end, but he also was vital to
- 17:30Speaker 1: the run game, right. He was an incredible blocker. He
- 17:32Speaker 1: did a lot of things um and plus he played
- 17:35Speaker 1: on a team that, other than Randy Moss, probably didn't
- 17:37Speaker 1: have a potential Pro Bowl or or Hall of Fame
- 17:41Speaker 1: type caliber wide receiver. So he was the guy everyone
- 17:43Speaker 1: who was getting the ball, and he still made it happen.
- 17:45Speaker 1: But with Kelsey, it's like, if there's any way you
- 17:49Speaker 1: can stop him, you could slow down this office. Nobody
- 17:53Speaker 1: has cracked that code you mentioned he's thirty four. It's
- 17:56Speaker 1: not like he's new in the league, so he's impossible
- 17:59Speaker 1: to stop in the passing game. This is a different
- 18:02Speaker 1: type of NFL in terms of the tight end is
- 18:05Speaker 1: the big wide receiver, it is the fullback. It is
- 18:08Speaker 1: something that is the ultimate queen on the chessboard that
- 18:13Speaker 1: Andy Reid plays with and with Having a guy like Kelly,
- 18:15Speaker 1: isn't that catch? I mean, for a guy who comes
- 18:18Speaker 1: through so much in the big time, in the big
- 18:20Speaker 1: moments when you've got to move the chains, he is.
- 18:23Speaker 1: He is right there. So it between him and Gronk,
- 18:25Speaker 1: it just depends on what flavor of JABRONI is, m T.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Whatever it is you want to have, Well, can we
- 18:31Speaker 1: get it out of the way. To Omar, no one
- 18:33Speaker 1: said they would never win. I know Travis Kelsey likes
- 18:37Speaker 1: to say that some teams thought the or some of
- 18:40Speaker 1: us thought the a f C West was gonna be
- 18:42Speaker 1: a lot better this year, but no one said there's
- 18:44Speaker 1: no way. A lot of people were picking the Bills.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Come on, well, a lot of I think they heard
- 18:52Speaker 1: all that talk about the a f C West and
- 18:54Speaker 1: perhaps not being favorites in their division. When they had
- 18:58Speaker 1: four straight runs of a f C championship games and
- 19:01Speaker 1: turning over that roster, the things that we talked about
- 19:03Speaker 1: a while ago. But when you have the tal words
- 19:05Speaker 1: like Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey, you have
- 19:10Speaker 1: a chance. And Travis Kelsey continues to climb up the
- 19:12Speaker 1: record book. It's not just for the postseason. He's about
- 19:15Speaker 1: fourth all time now in terms of all time tight ends.
- 19:18Speaker 1: He's had about nine complete seasons now. Drafted in and
- 19:22Speaker 1: then really got rolling in. Was productive even when Alex
- 19:26Speaker 1: Smith was the quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, and
- 19:29Speaker 1: time and time again you heard him credit Andy Reid
- 19:31Speaker 1: for getting him open. But it's his body, it's his size,
- 19:34Speaker 1: it's the way he moves, it's the way he thinks
- 19:37Speaker 1: as a quarterback, growing up. Finding that connection with Patrick Mahomes.
- 19:41Speaker 1: There's no sign of this train slowing down, especially with
- 19:44Speaker 1: the younger players that they got so many contributions from
- 19:47Speaker 1: and all those rookie contracts the Chiefs are dealing with
- 19:50Speaker 1: right now, with Mahomes, with Kelsey, with Reid and all
- 19:53Speaker 1: those young players. A lot to look forward to here
- 19:55Speaker 1: in Kansas City. And as we see, the quarterback numbers
- 19:57Speaker 1: keep going up, and up and up. Understandably, the cat
- 19:59Speaker 1: keeps going up and up and up. That deal that
- 20:01Speaker 1: Mahomes side a couple of years ago now looks like
- 20:03Speaker 1: a massive bargain. Even the a lot of that big
- 20:06Speaker 1: money guarantees a little bit later, or his big cap
- 20:09Speaker 1: numbers rather are later that is going to kick in.
- 20:13Speaker 1: But they have the pieces here, and they have Travis Kelsey,
- 20:15Speaker 1: and they have Andy Reid, which is a huge part
- 20:17Speaker 1: of it. Thus they have another great shot next year.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Speaking of Andy, confirmed afterwards and again this morning, he
- 20:24Speaker 1: is coming back. What did last night mean for his
- 20:29Speaker 1: plaque in Canton next? Nothing can stop me. Two weeks
- 20:38Speaker 1: away from the combine, Friends right around the corner, do
- 20:41Speaker 1: not miss the chance to see the next stars of
- 20:44Speaker 1: the NFL live on field workouts March second, when they
- 20:48Speaker 1: begin exclusively right here on NFL Network and on NFL Plus.
- 20:53Speaker 1: NFL Now will be there the entire week leading up
- 20:56Speaker 1: to the on field drills, only two weeks away, two
- 20:59Speaker 1: weeks that is after Andy Reid are the Chiefs one
- 21:02Speaker 1: themselves yet another super Bowl? And yeah that one was
- 21:07Speaker 1: kind of cool, kind of cool to beat his old team,
- 21:11Speaker 1: a team for whom he still has all kinds of respect,
- 21:15Speaker 1: all kinds of love, but it's still beating his old team.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I know, I got asset a lot, and I wasn't
- 21:23Speaker 1: really expecting to, but I um, I didn't put my
- 21:26Speaker 1: s thought into all that. You know, I'm enjoying what
- 21:30Speaker 1: I'm doing, and I got this guy over here that
- 21:34Speaker 1: it is pretty good players, So I mean, we're doing okay.
- 21:39Speaker 1: That was Andy responding to the question about retirement. Jake
- 21:41Speaker 1: Glazer had the report yesterday before the game, suggesting that
- 21:44Speaker 1: Reid may have decisions to make afterwards. Uh No, he said,
- 21:48Speaker 1: I'm back as long as they will have me back.
- 21:50Speaker 1: And I was two forty seven victories, but more importantly
- 21:54Speaker 1: two Super Bowl wins. Bill Belichick, Don Shula, Tom Landry
- 21:59Speaker 1: and Andy Reid the only coaches now with two hundred
- 22:04Speaker 1: regular season wins and multiple Lombardi Trophies. I don't think
- 22:09Speaker 1: there was any doubt Steve that he's gonna go to
- 22:11Speaker 1: Canton one day. But the way that Andy got his
- 22:15Speaker 1: second ring by beating the team that he helped lay
- 22:19Speaker 1: the foundation for initially probably makes it that much sweet. Yeah.
- 22:24Speaker 1: I mean, look, and look you talk about at the time,
- 22:26Speaker 1: he's already coach, right, what fourteen seasons in Philly, ten
- 22:29Speaker 1: in Kansas City. He's he's evolved, right. He's also changed
- 22:33Speaker 1: as a head coach to to go with some of
- 22:35Speaker 1: the flow of today's games, spreading things out a little
- 22:38Speaker 1: bit offensively, doing some things. He's got the coaching tree.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Look at how many of his assistants have gone on
- 22:43Speaker 1: to be head coaches. Why Eric the enemy is offensive
- 22:45Speaker 1: coordinator isn't still baffles me? Um, But and he reads
- 22:49Speaker 1: one of these guys. You know, a lot of times
- 22:50Speaker 1: Hall of Fame voters say, look, when that five year
- 22:53Speaker 1: eligibility rulers up, we like to go with players because
- 22:55Speaker 1: they're the ones who actually put it on the field.
- 22:57Speaker 1: But it's gonna be hard to keep Andy Reid out
- 22:59Speaker 1: for very long. I mean, I don't know if he's
- 23:01Speaker 1: first bout, I don't know how that that's gonna work
- 23:02Speaker 1: when the time comes. But he's just at dynamic because
- 23:05Speaker 1: coached a lot of great players, He's developed a lot
- 23:07Speaker 1: of great players. But the respect he's earned throughout the
- 23:11Speaker 1: league is just amazing. Be Get that second Super Bowl championship,
- 23:15Speaker 1: especially you know, two of the past couple of years.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I mean, he solidified himself among the greats when I
- 23:21Speaker 1: think the way he responded after they lost Tyreek Hill,
- 23:23Speaker 1: because I think a lot of the talk might have been, well, yeah,
- 23:26Speaker 1: it might be easy to coach when you have Travis
- 23:27Speaker 1: Kelsey and Tyreek Hill. But revamping that wide receiver room,
- 23:31Speaker 1: Andy Reid proving he's not just an XS and o's
- 23:35Speaker 1: offensive genius, the wizard that everything that he is, but
- 23:38Speaker 1: the leader of men, the contributor to the locker room,
- 23:41Speaker 1: the culture that they built in Kansas City, all the
- 23:43Speaker 1: winds that he had in Philly now in Kansas City.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Certainly an al teimer. Andy Reid is and it'll be
- 23:48Speaker 1: fun once he does hang him up whenever that is
- 23:51Speaker 1: a few years from now. Uh to have that discussion
- 23:53Speaker 1: of where he ends up all time in terms of
- 23:56Speaker 1: NFL head coaching. And he returned sixty five and around
- 23:59Speaker 1: a month and again afterwards he said, as long as
- 24:01Speaker 1: they will have me here, I will be here. And
- 24:04Speaker 1: why would you leave when you have Patrick Mahomes and
- 24:07Speaker 1: you realize that every time you play, you have a
- 24:10Speaker 1: chance to win, no matter whether it's the preseason, the
- 24:13Speaker 1: regular season, the postseason. And he's gonna get you there.
- 24:17Speaker 1: And what a combination they have yes, there's Belichick and Brady.
- 24:20Speaker 1: There's also red in Mahomes and though they don't have
- 24:23Speaker 1: the same number of rings, but last night was impressive.
- 24:26Speaker 1: The Kansas City Chiefs your Super Bowl fifty seven champions.
