- 4:14Speaker 3: again an welcome back. Do you know the answer to
- 4:17Speaker 3: this week's trivia question? The question was which US president
- 4:23Speaker 3: officially declared Thanksgiving a national holiday. The answer President Abraham Lincoln.
- 4:31Speaker 3: While Thanksgiving had been celebrated in various ways before, it
- 4:36Speaker 3: was President Lincoln who, in the middle of the Civil
- 4:38Speaker 3: War in eighteen sixty three, proclaimed it a national holiday,
- 4:44Speaker 3: a national day of thanksgiving and praise, to be celebrated
- 4:49Speaker 3: each November. Think about that, in the middle of national
- 4:54Speaker 3: turmoil and division, Lincoln chose to create space for gratitude.
- 5:00Speaker 3: It wasn't because times were good. It was because gratitude
- 5:04Speaker 3: helps us hold on to hope even when times are bad.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Now you know, gratitude is often misunderstood as something we
- 5:20Speaker 3: do after something good happens, a polite thank you when
- 5:25Speaker 3: things go our way. But real gratitude goes much deeper.
- 5:30Speaker 3: It's not reactive, it's intentional. It's choosing to pause and
- 5:35Speaker 3: notice what's good even when things aren't perfect. It's being
- 5:41Speaker 3: thankful for the roof over your head, even if the
- 5:45Speaker 3: Wi Fi is slow. It's appreciating the meal on your plate,
- 5:50Speaker 3: even if it's leftovers. It's being grateful for the people
- 5:55Speaker 3: in your life, even when they drive you a little crazy.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Gratitude doesn't mean denying your struggles. It means not letting
- 6:04Speaker 3: those struggles blind you to the good that still exists.
- 6:09Speaker 3: And here's the cool part. Studies show that people who
- 6:13Speaker 3: regularly practice gratitude sleep better, feel more optimistic, and even
- 6:18Speaker 3: have stronger immune systems. Turns out giving thanks is really
- 6:25Speaker 3: good for you. Let me end this week's podcast with
- 6:41Speaker 3: a quote from Melody Beetle. Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
- 6:48Speaker 3: It turns what we have into enough and more. It
- 6:52Speaker 3: turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion and declare.
- 7:01Speaker 3: It makes sense of our past, brings peace for today,
- 7:05Speaker 3: and creates a vision for tomorrow. So today no matter
- 7:10Speaker 3: what is on your to do list, just take thirty
- 7:15Speaker 3: seconds and ask yourself what am I grateful for right now.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Maybe it's your morning coffee. Maybe it's someone who made
- 7:24Speaker 3: you laugh. Maybe it's the simple fact that you woke
- 7:28Speaker 3: up to see another sunrise. Whatever it is, acknowledge it,
- 7:33Speaker 3: savor it, let it fill your tank, because even the
- 7:38Speaker 3: smallest amount of gratitude can shift the direction of your
- 7:41Speaker 3: whole day. Thank you for tuning in to Positively three
- 7:46Speaker 3: sixty five. Stay grounded, stay thankful, and as always, stay positive.
