- 0:03Well, today's Friday. Joe, this is Joe Rudy.
- 0:09Joe is a dear friend of mine and a lot of people around the Saint
- 0:12Louis area. Joe owns one of the best auto
- 0:17services in the Saint Louis area.
- 0:21It's called AL's Auto Service. And And Joe, when people get all
- 0:26jacked up on Mountain Dew about their car and they get nervous.
- 0:29What? What do you?
- 0:30What do you tell them? Don't get nervous, call our
- 0:33service. That's right.
- 0:35So this morning's coffee with Kenny is about vacationing.
- 0:43Can you vacation? Do you feel guilty when you take
- 0:47a vacation? Do you not know how to take a
- 0:50vacation, Joe? Years ago I went on the Miller
- 0:53Genuine Draft Cruise, and the great Rodger Penske was on that
- 0:56vacation with us. It was the Miller Genuine draft
- 0:58cruise and Rusty Wallace and all these superstars on and Roger
- 1:03Rogers used to, you know, working and it was like a seven
- 1:08day vacation. But like like day three, he had
- 1:10to get off. Roger had to get off.
- 1:12You know, he can't vacation anymore.
- 1:15So my uncle Manny, he worked at American can downtown Saint
- 1:22Louis, you know, made all the beer cans for Ann Ass Bush and
- 1:24Uncle Manny always wore, you know, Levi blue jeans and AT
- 1:29shirt. It was like that's what he wore.
- 1:32And and uncle man, he's like, man, I don't know about this
- 1:34vacation. And you know, just I don't know,
- 1:37you know, you start feeling guilty.
- 1:38I'm on vacation. I should be home.
- 1:41I should be taking the trash out.
- 1:43My point is this some people just can't vacation.
- 1:46They can't relax. So you told me something earlier
- 1:51that I want to share with everybody.
- 1:52It's heartfelt. It's awesome.
- 1:54You said I've never really vacationed.
- 1:57I you know, I've really never done this.
- 1:59You run your own business. You worked your whole life.
- 2:03So let's talk with you about that.
- 2:05I've set the parameters. How did you vacation?
- 2:10Did it go OK? Yeah, it's going good.
- 2:12But. Every once in a while you go,
- 2:15man, I need to be back at the shop.
- 2:17Or is it going to be all right? You know is still going to be
- 2:20there when you get back, you know?
- 2:23Do you, do you feel guilty? Like like God's going to be mad
- 2:26at you? You shouldn't be vacationing.
- 2:27I feel like I robbed a bank once in a while but.
- 2:30It's a good point. Couple days being here kind of
- 2:32went away. How old are you?
- 2:3539. So you're 39, you're a business
- 2:37owner. You, you're a hell of a
- 2:39mechanic. My God, you can fix anything.
- 2:42You're a great racer. Our whole family takes
- 2:46everything to AL's Auto Service up there in Kirkwood, MO.
- 2:49And you, you just grew up working.
- 2:54Yeah. So when it's like when it's
- 2:55going, when you go on vacation, it's like, oh, God.
- 2:59So. But I thought, I thought you did
- 3:01really good. I mean, you went to this, you.
- 3:03You went to the swimming pool. I thought you were relaxing.
- 3:05Got. The went to the beach, went
- 3:09fishing, even got time to go to O'reilly's when.
- 3:12We worked. A little generator repair.
- 3:15So this is Rusty's place and it's called Vila Las Palmas and
- 3:22you can Google it and you can stay here and you know, we kind
- 3:28of treat the place like it's family because it is his brother
- 3:31Rusty's place. So we tuned the generator a
- 3:34little bit, put new plug wires on it.
- 3:36Rusty said hey, while y'all are down there and we had a good
- 3:39time and Joe, he just he attacked that damn motor like he
- 3:43was at work. Now did that make you feel good?
- 3:45Oh. Yeah, I felt like I was at home.
- 3:46Again, did you a little work in OH?
- 3:48Yeah, I got a little work. Well, I just, I've been around a
- 3:51lot of people that feel guilty when they vacation and, you
- 3:54know, respond right here. You know, listen, let me, let me
- 3:58respond right here. So I, I saw somebody on my
- 4:00comments, I don't know if I like that, respond right here.
- 4:04What that means is just join the join the vacation, join the
- 4:10conversation. You know, now we, we left Monday
- 4:15and we were up at 3:45 and we were here at like 11.
- 4:20So we were gone. Our vacation was Monday,
- 4:22Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and now we're going home today.
- 4:28You could say it's a four day vacation because it's super
- 4:31early in the morning. Now we're headed home.
- 4:32So was it too long for you? Was was.
- 4:36Was. I think it's about right.
- 4:38Yeah, me too. Get back to the racetrack.
- 4:41Tomorrow we're going to race Saturday, OK, So let me know.
- 4:46No. Dirt tracks down here so.
- 4:48We're going to get back so we can.
- 4:50Get our fix. All right, that's a tough
- 4:53conversation. There's going to be a lot of
- 4:55people that go, oh, hell, on vacation, but there's a lot of
- 4:58people that just cannot do it because it's a Midwest thing.
- 5:02See, unions are big in Saint Louis.
- 5:04A $10.00 bill is everything in Saint Louis.
- 5:08Everybody says, tell me about Saint Louis.
- 5:10They said, oh, it's simple, it's all unions.
- 5:13And if your buddy says, hey, man, can I borrow $10 on a
- 5:16Monday and you don't play that shit back on a Friday, we're
- 5:20fighting. That's Saint Louis.
- 5:22Saint Louis is where we're very frugal.
- 5:25We have a nickname for it. It's called Missouri Frugal.
- 5:29And yeah, a lot of people have a tough time vacationing.
- 5:35All right, So Chase, did you have a tough time vacationing?
- 5:42No, but now you're, you're, you're you're an Arnold girl and
- 5:47you're in Phoenix now. Yes.
- 5:49Do you feel like you're a world traveler?
- 5:51I try to be got to get more experiences as you can while
- 5:55you're young. Are you going to move back to
- 5:57Saint Louis? Eventually I will.
- 5:59Yeah, that's awesome. She's a good vacationer.
- 6:02Yeah, I could vacation. Terry and Lauren, they're good
- 6:05vacationers. This was the best vacation.
- 6:07You like this. This was the best.
- 6:09This was the best. All right, you'll never meet a
- 6:15better family than the Wright family.
- 6:17Terry has saved our life, moved back to Saint Louis.
- 6:19And I said, Terry, invite us to everything.
- 6:21We've been gone for 27 years. So.
- 6:25So that Lady right there, Terry Wright, she's a blessing to us.
- 6:30All right, everybody, that's it. We're going back to Saint Louis
- 6:35today. We land around midnight tonight.
- 6:38I will arrive at the pit gate at Peaveley's at Federated Auto
- 6:42Parts Raceway tomorrow night. On Saturday I will arrive there
- 6:46at 5:30. When do you get there?
- 6:48About 4:40. You know, everybody kind of, all
- 6:52the locals do their own thing, like to get parked and get your
- 6:55car loaded.
