- 3:22Speaker 3: as I do this podcast. So actually, the funny thing
- 3:25Speaker 3: is people who are watching live get to see my
- 3:30Speaker 3: podcast live right now. Everybody else, you guys, get to
- 3:33Speaker 3: hear it recorded later. So that's crazy. But here we go.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Let's kick off the show. Let's talk about some Chicago
- 3:39Speaker 3: Bears news. As you heard, we just kicked off the
- 3:41Speaker 3: show with Bear downs Chicago Bears. My Bears finally signed
- 3:46Speaker 3: a real head coach. I am so excited. The Detroit
- 3:50Speaker 3: Lions lost on Saturday. By Monday afternoon, it was announced
- 3:54Speaker 3: that the Chicago Bears signed offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as
- 3:58Speaker 3: our new head coach. It was amazing. Chicago Bears did
- 4:02Speaker 3: something that I've never seen them do. They pulled a
- 4:05Speaker 3: non Bears move and actually signed who we wanted. Okay,
- 4:10Speaker 3: and now, not every single person in the world wanted
- 4:13Speaker 3: as a Bears fan wanted Ben Johnson. Some wanted Pete
- 4:16Speaker 3: Carroll someone and Mike McCarthy, you know. Some wanted other
- 4:21Speaker 3: guys from other teams, you know, to come in and
- 4:23Speaker 3: be the head coach. But Ben Johnson was probably eighty
- 4:27Speaker 3: percent of Bears fans and analysts wanted Ben Johnson. So
- 4:33Speaker 3: that's crazy. I am so excited. I think it's gonna
- 4:37Speaker 3: be a brand new day. Detroit actually lost not only
- 4:44Speaker 3: their offensive coordinator, but they also lost their defensive coordinator,
- 4:48Speaker 3: who is going to be the new head coach of
- 4:50Speaker 3: the Jets. Crazy crazy thing. I cannot believe that the
- 4:54Speaker 3: Lions went from a Super Bowl contender to losing two
- 4:58Speaker 3: of their big coordinators. Now we're going to see because
- 5:02Speaker 3: a lot of fans in Detroit are claiming that it
- 5:05Speaker 3: was never the coordinators, it was always Dan Campbell. We're
- 5:08Speaker 3: going to see what they can do now now that
- 5:11Speaker 3: they're gone, because I don't believe we are going to
- 5:15Speaker 3: see the Lions be as good as they were. The
- 5:19Speaker 3: Lions went from the best team in the NFC to
- 5:24Speaker 3: a well, I'm not gonna say a first round exit,
- 5:27Speaker 3: first round for them because they were in the second week,
- 5:30Speaker 3: they had the bye week, They had all that time
- 5:32Speaker 3: to prepare for the Washington Commanders with a rookie quarterback. Now,
- 5:37Speaker 3: I'll tell you now, Jade Daniels I believe is going
- 5:40Speaker 3: to be Rookie of the Year. But I think that
- 5:45Speaker 3: by the end of their careers because of Ben Johnson,
- 5:49Speaker 3: I think Caleb Williams is going to be a better
- 5:53Speaker 3: quarterback than Jane Daniels. You can't judge a man by
- 5:59Speaker 3: his first year in the NFL. You just can't. You
- 6:01Speaker 3: cannot judge by the first year. We all know this,
- 6:07Speaker 3: so yeah, I am all excited. I am all in
- 6:10Speaker 3: on Ben Johnson coming here. I think the Bears turning around.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I think next year we win eleven or twelve games,
- 6:17Speaker 3: he's not playing around. I'm gonna read you a few
- 6:20Speaker 3: quotes really quick from Ben Johnson's incoming press conference about
- 6:27Speaker 3: different things. So hold on one second, all right, So
- 6:29Speaker 3: here's some takeaways from the press conference with Ben Johnson
- 6:33Speaker 3: over the week. Number one point, Johnson badly wanted to
- 6:37Speaker 3: coach Caleb Williams. Johnson himself said that that afternoon that
- 6:41Speaker 3: the NFL is a quarterback driven league and he clearly
- 6:44Speaker 3: believes that Chicago already has a quarterback that can win
- 6:47Speaker 3: Super Bowls. In his prepared remarks, he listed three reasons
- 6:51Speaker 3: for why he chose the Bears, and Caleb Williams was
- 6:53Speaker 3: one of them. Later, during a Q and A session,
- 6:56Speaker 3: reporters press Johnson for more details on what exactly about
- 6:59Speaker 3: the Bear's job was more appealing than the openings with
- 7:02Speaker 3: other teams. Johnson mentioned the people and the atmosphere in
- 7:06Speaker 3: the organization. He then gave a choy smirk and added,
- 7:09Speaker 3: having a quarterback helps. Now was that a dig? Oh,
- 7:13Speaker 3: thanks Jess, thank you, thank you so much. I had
- 7:16Speaker 3: somebody said they love my hair. That's awesome, Thank you
- 7:18Speaker 3: so much. It doesn't always look like this, but I
- 7:22Speaker 3: am I'm recording my podcast so you can come along
- 7:25Speaker 3: and listen to my podcast. It's fun. We're talking sports
- 7:28Speaker 3: right now. Later during the Q and A session, some
- 7:33Speaker 3: reporters preus Johnson for more details. He said he loves
- 7:36Speaker 3: having a quarterback. Was that a dig at Goff? I'm
- 7:43Speaker 3: wondering because Goff is not as good as people think,
- 7:46Speaker 3: and the Rams definitely won that trade. I don't care
- 7:49Speaker 3: what anybody says. The Rams won that trade. They have
- 7:52Speaker 3: already won a super Bowl and golf has proven that
- 7:56Speaker 3: he can't even get past the second round. This year,
- 8:00Speaker 3: they actually regressed. They had a better record, but in
- 8:04Speaker 3: the playoffs they actually regressed. They went backwards. They last
- 8:07Speaker 3: year made the NFC Championship game this year, and no,
- 8:11Speaker 3: the whole sery that he threw that game because he
- 8:14Speaker 3: knew who was coming to the Bears. No, that did
- 8:16Speaker 3: not happen. Ben Johnson would never have just thrown a game.
- 8:20Speaker 3: First of all, can you imagine him bringing a Super
- 8:23Speaker 3: Bowl championship to Chicago. That would have been an amazing
- 8:28Speaker 3: way to start your head coaching career. So here we go.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Let's see Chicago's offense will not be a copycat of Detroit.
- 8:39Speaker 3: A lot of people wonder was he going to bring
- 8:41Speaker 3: his playbook. Well, here's the thing. The most of the teams,
- 8:45Speaker 3: especially in the NFC North, already know that playbook. So
- 8:50Speaker 3: he said he is going to make a playbook around
- 8:53Speaker 3: the quarterback, which is what you do. He did the
- 8:56Speaker 3: same thing with golf. He made a playbook around golf,
- 8:59Speaker 3: So now he's going to do that with Caleb. Caleb
- 9:01Speaker 3: has a better offset upside than golf does. And we
- 9:04Speaker 3: all know this. Making the playoffs in twenty twenty five
- 9:07Speaker 3: is not out of the question. When asked about the
- 9:09Speaker 3: timeline he envisioned forgetting the Bears back into the playoffs,
- 9:12Speaker 3: Johnson mostly demurred to answer, giving a couple of coach
- 9:17Speaker 3: speak platitudes, but when pressed on whether he thought he
- 9:21Speaker 3: would get Chicago into the playoffs as soon as next year,
- 9:23Speaker 3: he didn't rule it out. That's what I like to hear. Accountability.
- 9:28Speaker 3: We've heard this one from Thomas Brown, and Thomas Brown
- 9:32Speaker 3: was a lot better of an offensive coordinator than anybody else.
- 9:36Speaker 3: But here we go. Johnson used the word over and
- 9:40Speaker 3: over in his press conference. Even in his prepared remarks,
- 9:43Speaker 3: Johnson's stressed that every player will be pushed to become
- 9:46Speaker 3: the best version of themselves. In fact, he said to
- 9:49Speaker 3: the players, this was a quote, be comfortable being uncomfortable.
- 9:55Speaker 3: That's what he said to the players. And it also
- 10:03Speaker 3: sounds like Jalen Johnson, Cole Comett, and Montest Sweat could
- 10:06Speaker 3: step in a major leadership roles, which they should. They
- 10:09Speaker 3: are They've been there for a long time. These Bears
- 10:12Speaker 3: players have been around. Okay, Montest Sweat's been in the
- 10:16Speaker 3: league for a while. Cole Comett has been with the
- 10:19Speaker 3: Bears for a long time. Jalen Johnson just signed a
- 10:22Speaker 3: you know, decent sized contract. These players need to step up.
- 10:27Speaker 3: The only thing I'm wondering will Keenan Allen be back?
- 10:30Speaker 3: Is Keenan Allen gonna be a Bear next year? And
- 10:32Speaker 3: I kind of hope he does. I would love to
- 10:35Speaker 3: see the offense run it back with the wide receivers
- 10:39Speaker 3: that we had, and you know, get the offensive line
- 10:43Speaker 3: better have swift in there, and then maybe draft a
- 10:47Speaker 3: quarterback at number ten. Here a lot of people are
- 10:50Speaker 3: gonna say, no, you got a draft an offensive lineman
- 10:53Speaker 3: at number ten. The best offensive linemen are going to
- 10:56Speaker 3: be gone within the first like eight spots. In fact,
- 11:01Speaker 3: we're gonna start doing our mock drafts pretty soon because
- 11:04Speaker 3: now we get into the draft. We signed a coach.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Now we get into the draft, and we see what's
- 11:09Speaker 3: gonna happen from there. So all right, let's move on
- 11:12Speaker 3: now to football, because to the NFL games for the weekend.
- 11:16Speaker 3: We have games going on this weekend. Oh and here's
- 11:18Speaker 3: breaking news that I just saw today. Raiders and Pete
- 11:21Speaker 3: Carroll agree on a three year deal to make him
- 11:24Speaker 3: the new head coach. So Pete Carroll got the job
- 11:28Speaker 3: as the Raiders head coach. That is awesome. Good for him.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I hope he does really good. I just I feel
- 11:35Speaker 3: like we got our coach with Ben Johnson. We don't
- 11:37Speaker 3: need old Pete Carroll. We don't need Mike McCarthy. You know,
- 11:43Speaker 3: people who wanted those guys don't remember John Fox. Okay,
- 11:47Speaker 3: the people who say, oh, these offensive coordinators never pan out.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Every head coach was once an offensive coordinator, or a
- 11:55Speaker 3: defensive coordinator or a special teams coordinator. Every coach, no
- 12:01Speaker 3: coaches walks right in. Ninety nine percent of head coaches
- 12:05Speaker 3: don't just walk into a head coaching job without being
- 12:09Speaker 3: something before that. So yeah, let's move on and talk
- 12:12Speaker 3: about the NFL games. This weekend. So we got two
- 12:15Speaker 3: NFL games this weekend, and let's talk about it. So
- 12:20Speaker 3: here we go, all right. So here we go two
- 12:26Speaker 3: games this weekend. The winners go on to the super Bowl.
- 12:30Speaker 3: That is amazing. I can't believe we are already at
- 12:33Speaker 3: Super Bowl. It's insane to think about. But here we go,
- 12:37Speaker 3: all right. So the first game on the docket is
- 12:40Speaker 3: the Commanders and the Eagles in Philly on Sunday, January
- 12:44Speaker 3: twenty sixth at two pm. I'll go with the Eagles.
- 12:49Speaker 3: I'll go into that in the second. The second game
- 12:52Speaker 3: of the window is right after that at five point thirty.
- 12:55Speaker 3: It's the AFC Championship game, the Bills and the Chiefs
- 12:59Speaker 3: in Kansas City. I'm taking the Bills. Statistically, everybody thinks
- 13:06Speaker 3: the Chiefs are gonna win. The referees might try to
- 13:09Speaker 3: sway that game, but I don't think it's gonna happen.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I think Buffalo wins. I think Josh Allen makes it
- 13:16Speaker 3: to the super Bowl, and then the Commanders and Eagles.
- 13:20Speaker 3: I don't feel Jayden Daniels is ready for it yet.
- 13:22Speaker 3: He shouldn't be as a rookie. Not a lot of
- 13:25Speaker 3: rookie you had quarterbacks make it to the Super Bowl
- 13:28Speaker 3: in their first year. In fact, no rookie quarterback that
- 13:31Speaker 3: led his team has ever won a Super Bowl. And
- 13:35Speaker 3: that's a stat that you can look up. Never happened,
- 13:38Speaker 3: and it's not gonna happen this year. Either. Commanders had
- 13:40Speaker 3: a great season. They will definitely be back next year
- 13:44Speaker 3: in the playoffs. I think the Bears will be right
- 13:46Speaker 3: with them. We may see a Kleb and Jayde and
- 13:50Speaker 3: Daniels matchup next year, which I would love. But I
- 13:54Speaker 3: don't want anybody to fail. And here's the thing I
- 13:58Speaker 3: love when a QB draft. All have good seasons, all
- 14:03Speaker 3: have good careers. I love Drake May, I love Bo Knicks,
- 14:07Speaker 3: I love Michael Pennix Junior, I love Caleb Williams, I
- 14:10Speaker 3: love Jade Daniels. I want all five of them to
- 14:16Speaker 3: have a great career. I don't want any of them
- 14:20Speaker 3: to fail. Why would you want any of them to fail?
- 14:22Speaker 3: Why would you want any of them to be a bust.
- 14:25Speaker 3: I still want to see Bryce Young have an amazing season,
- 14:30Speaker 3: an amazing career, and I still think he can. C
- 14:34Speaker 3: J Stroud, I love CJ Stroud, great player, second year
- 14:39Speaker 3: in the league. Still did good this year. He did
- 14:41Speaker 3: regress a little bit, and I think Jayden Daniels will
- 14:45Speaker 3: regress a little next year. I think teams figured him out,
- 14:48Speaker 3: and I think that once they figure you out, now
- 14:51Speaker 3: you gotta change your game up. See the difference with
- 14:55Speaker 3: Caleb is Caleb's going to have a brand new coach
- 14:58Speaker 3: that knows how to scheme for a core. He knows
- 15:01Speaker 3: what he's doing in there. He made Goff look amazing. Goff,
- 15:04Speaker 3: He's an amazing quarterback in Detroit. He just can't get
- 15:07Speaker 3: over that hump and make it to the super Bowl.
- 15:10Speaker 3: But he is an amazing quarterback. Under Ben Johnson, We're
- 15:15Speaker 3: gonna see what he does. Because he was okay with
- 15:18Speaker 3: the Rams, they traded him for Stafford. The Rams already
- 15:23Speaker 3: definitely won that trade. I mean, you can't even just
- 15:27Speaker 3: like the Bears won that Carolina trade. Now with Ben Johnson,
- 15:33Speaker 3: if Kayleb Williams becomes a superstar quarterback, that's it. Bears
- 15:39Speaker 3: definitely won that trade. They already won just with Dj
- 15:42Speaker 3: Moore alone and with that number one pick. And now
- 15:46Speaker 3: we've got their number two pick or their number or
- 15:48Speaker 3: their second round pick this year. So now we got
- 15:50Speaker 3: two second round picks. This is gonna be an amazing draft,
- 15:54Speaker 3: and Ben Johnson is not gonna let them skimp. They
- 15:57Speaker 3: didn't skimp on him come in here. They pay him
- 16:00Speaker 3: good money. I don't know. I didn't see the release
- 16:03Speaker 3: of the contract. I don't even know if they released
- 16:05Speaker 3: it yet, but I'm telling you now, he didn't come cheap.
- 16:08Speaker 3: The Bears usually go for the cheapest coach that they
- 16:12Speaker 3: can find, and I'll tell you now that wasn't Ben Jhonson.
- 16:18Speaker 3: The Bears did something that I've never seen. The Bears
- 16:21Speaker 3: did not pull a Bears move for the first time
- 16:25Speaker 3: in decades of me being a fan. I've watched this
- 16:28Speaker 3: team since I was like five years old, probably younger
- 16:32Speaker 3: than that, but that's what I remember. I remember watching
- 16:36Speaker 3: the Bears at five. So I've been a Bears fan
- 16:41Speaker 3: for almost forty years of my life. I'm forty four.
- 16:44Speaker 3: When I hit forty five, that will literally be and really,
- 16:47Speaker 3: you can save forty five years because I've been watching
- 16:52Speaker 3: him since I was born. I'm reading some of the
- 17:01Speaker 3: I read some of the comments once in a while.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Did you date my uncle Charles Lightcamp? No? I did not.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Oh my god, people are funny and live but yeah,
- 17:11Speaker 3: so I think that we're going to have Philadelphia and Buffalo.
- 17:16Speaker 3: That's my dream, but I have a feeling it's going
- 17:18Speaker 3: to be Philadelphia and Kansas City. There's there's no way
- 17:23Speaker 3: that I think that you're going to see Jane Daniels
- 17:29Speaker 3: in the super Bowl this year. So we are going
- 17:33Speaker 3: to move on now to something different. Now, let's move
- 17:36Speaker 3: on to a little bit of wrestling talk, all right.
- 17:41Speaker 3: So WW Royal Rumble is going to be live next
- 17:44Speaker 3: Sunday or next Saturday, February first, from Lucas Oil Stadium
- 17:48Speaker 3: in Indianapolis, Indiana. You can watch it on Peacock. Of course,
- 17:54Speaker 3: it says beginning at six pm Eastern, so that's probably
- 17:57Speaker 3: the pre show because I doubt it's start in that time.
- 18:01Speaker 3: All right, so let's see what are the matches so far.
- 18:05Speaker 3: We've got Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes for the WW Championship.
- 18:09Speaker 3: You're gonna have the Eagle Championship and Cody Rhodes Championship
- 18:14Speaker 3: hanging from the ladder from the little thing they gotta
- 18:17Speaker 3: climb the ladder, grab it and there's your winner, and
- 18:20Speaker 3: then the Royal Rumble men and women's match. So far
- 18:22Speaker 3: for the men, Robert Rains, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Drew
- 18:27Speaker 3: McIntyre and Sammy Zain have all came out, oh In
- 18:30Speaker 3: La Night have all came out, so they're gonna be
- 18:32Speaker 3: in there, which means there's still about twenty three other
- 18:36Speaker 3: people that they haven't announced yet, so there's gonna be
- 18:39Speaker 3: a lot of surprises. I bet for the women it's
- 18:43Speaker 3: Royal Rumble. So far, they only got Bailey and Nia Jax,
- 18:47Speaker 3: which leaves a lot of spots left. There's thirty, so
- 18:51Speaker 3: there's twenty eight people that still have to be announced,
- 18:54Speaker 3: which they won't. They're just gonna have a bunch of
- 18:55Speaker 3: people coming back. I think you're gonna see Becky Lynch
- 18:58Speaker 3: and Charlotte Flair come back, a few TNA people. I
- 19:02Speaker 3: think Joe Hendry is gonna be in the Royal Rumble.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Maybe Dol Ziggler that that'd be cool to hear his
- 19:08Speaker 3: music hit again. Uh So, I think we just see
- 19:11Speaker 3: a lot of crazy surprises in the Royal Rumble this year.
- 19:15Speaker 3: They haven't announced as many people. We'll see tonight on SmackDown.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Maybe they'll add some more. But uh so, let's move
- 19:23Speaker 3: on to NCAA football and it's over. It's officially done.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Ohio State Buckeyes are the national champions. The Big Ten
- 19:31Speaker 3: has won it three years in a row. Michigan won
- 19:34Speaker 3: a two and then now Ohio State. So yeah, I
- 19:41Speaker 3: mean it was a good game. I really was excited
- 19:45Speaker 3: to see Notre Dames start coming back in that game.
- 19:50Speaker 3: I thought that I didn't want a big blowout, so yeah,
- 19:54Speaker 3: I was excited. I'm very very happy for Ohi State though,
- 20:00Speaker 3: even though I am a oh Man. CHSN is live
- 20:09Speaker 3: they said invite them to be a guest. Maybe we
- 20:12Speaker 3: should talk some Bears football. But yeah, so no, that's great.
- 20:15Speaker 3: I'm excited and I'm very very excited for Ohio State
- 20:21Speaker 3: to win that game. I wasn't going for Notre Dame,
- 20:24Speaker 3: but I think Ohio State was just a better team
- 20:26Speaker 3: and that's why they won. All right, So let's move
- 20:29Speaker 3: on to some college basketball. Let's see the top twenty
- 20:33Speaker 3: five for that top twenty five college basketball alright, So
- 20:42Speaker 3: just like we do every single week, let's see where
- 20:46Speaker 3: everybody ranks. Okay, so number twenty five is Louisville at
- 20:51Speaker 3: fourteen and five. Number twenty four is Memphis at fourteen
- 20:55Speaker 3: and four. Number twenty three is WVU at thirteen and four.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Number twenty two is Missou at twenty two, ATO at
- 21:06Speaker 3: fifteen and three. Michigan comes on at number twenty one
- 21:10Speaker 3: at fourteen and four. SJU comes in at number twenty
- 21:14Speaker 3: at sixteen and three. Yukon is number nineteen at thirteen
- 21:18Speaker 3: and five. Eighteen is Wisconsin at fifteen and three. Seventeen
- 21:23Speaker 3: is the Illinois Fighting Alini at thirteen and five. Let's
- 21:27Speaker 3: see Old miss is number sixteen at fifteen and three.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Oregon is number fifteen at fifteen and three. Also fourteen
- 21:35Speaker 3: is Michigan State or no was that Mississippi State fifteen
- 21:41Speaker 3: and three. Texas A and M is number thirteen at
- 21:44Speaker 3: fourteen and four. KU is number twelve at thirteen and four.
