Transcript
- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? Hello, Billy.
- 0:12That can't be. Well, I'm gonna watch your Least
- 0:14Scary Movie, the podcast where we talk about the good, the bad,
- 0:18the ugly, and the absurd, and all of our favorite, least
- 0:21favorite scary movies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:24movie rifle, he has its fan base.
- 0:25Even and sometimes. In spite of when we don't get
- 0:29it. Hey, my name is Travis.
- 0:32My name is Jesse. And today we're taking y'all
- 0:35back down to the Haller for some more hooting and hollering as we
- 0:39talk about Wrong Turn 3 Left for dead.
- 0:42Yes, that's right baby. We're back in the wrong Turn
- 0:45franchise. You guys.
- 0:47I know y'all love it now. And Mama, Take Me Home.
- 0:51That's right, baby. So yeah, before we head on down
- 0:55the country roads. Jesse, do you have any
- 0:59announcements? We did our two year not to be on
- 1:03Sunday on the Jersey Shore massacre.
- 1:07We coined the term Jersey Sploitation and had a lot of
- 1:10funny, had a lot of fun as the little trash monsters that we
- 1:13are enjoying other little trash monsters on the screen.
- 1:15Yeah, it was a good time. Jersey exploitation is a new
- 1:20genre now that I hope that is something that catches on.
- 1:24Candidates for that currently are Jersey Shore Massacre and
- 1:27Sleepaway Camp. Yeah.
- 1:30Terrifier. Yeah.
- 1:31Sleepaway camp? Definitely.
- 1:32That's not Jersey exploitation. Yeah, It's got a strong, yeah,
- 1:37strong foundation there. I'm excited to see where it
- 1:40goes. All right.
- 1:42So other than that. My hair is green now.
- 1:46Your hair is green now and very blue, and Talia can now see and
- 1:49she's got bangs. And I've got bangs.
- 1:51That's right, baby. You look good.
- 1:52My bangs are blue and Peach. Blue and Peach.
- 1:55That's right, baby. So all right, well.
- 1:59What goes out of the way? I've got our poll results from
- 2:01last week. What was our poll, Travis?
- 2:04Last week we wanted to know if you guys are happy campers
- 2:07because we talked about Sleepaway Camp 3.
- 2:09Last week, we just wanna know we're just doing a little check
- 2:12in on you. It's less about the movie and
- 2:13it's more about wanting to know how you guys are doing.
- 2:16Are you happy campers? Yeah, so on Twitter it's
- 2:19anonymous, but on Instagram I know who you are.
- 2:22That's right. Are we checking in on the folks
- 2:24that aren't happy campers? We can okay.
- 2:27So on Instagram, 94% are happy campers, but there's 6%, that's
- 2:31six. Percent, we're happy.
- 2:33Campers. Yeah, come on, What can we do to
- 2:35make you a happy camper? Yeah, we want you guys to be
- 2:38happy, Campers. Come on.
- 2:40Angela would want you guys to be happy campers, she.
- 2:43She would demand it. Why aren't you having fun?
- 2:45She specifically requested it. On Twitter, our poll results are
- 2:5078% are happy and 22% are not happy campers.
- 2:54I'm gonna choose that. That's a lot of people that
- 2:56voted after animation night on the last drivein and they were
- 2:59bummed the fuck out after watching Perfect Blue and Mad
- 3:02God. Uh, maybe I don't.
- 3:04Know they're like, I'm not a happy camper, right?
- 3:06Now it could also be, do you like sleepaway camp three or
- 3:09not? I don't.
- 3:10You know, like I guess it's up to interpretation.
- 3:12I'm in it in very much the literal sense.
- 3:14Are you a happy? Camper.
- 3:15Camper. Maybe people don't like camping.
- 3:17Maybe people don't. That's true.
- 3:19And maybe people aren't happy. Yeah, I don't like camping.
- 3:22I like hiking, but I don't like camping.
- 3:24Yeah. Maybe they went out for a hike
- 3:27with their friends and their friends were like, surprise,
- 3:29we're camping. I'm not.
- 3:30Happy. It's possible.
- 3:33I don't know. Well, either way, I'm a happy
- 3:36camper. I love the.
- 3:38I love the song. I love.
- 3:40I don't know, Camping's fun. I'm a happy camper because I've
- 3:45got my Mountain Dew alcoholic drink right here.
- 3:50I watched a bunch of movies set in and around New Jersey.
- 3:55Yeah, so we're just we're feeling ourselves.
- 3:58Right. Yeah, I know exactly who I am as
- 4:00a person. And you know, I'm not getting
- 4:03invited to the palace with tea with the Queen anytime soon.
- 4:06You know what I mean? And I'm.
- 4:08I'm enjoying, I am at the age where I know who I am and I can
- 4:12just relish in it, You know what I mean?
- 4:15This is the peak of self comfort.
- 4:16You. Yeah, right here.
- 4:17We're just set up right here and ready to talk about Wrong turn
- 4:213. Yeah, we are.
- 4:22So let's go ahead and get talking about it.
- 4:25So wrong. Turn three came out October
- 4:2720th, 2009. I believe that's my sister's
- 4:30birthday. Not at that date or not that
- 4:33year, but she's born on the 20th.
- 4:35You. Don't know for sure.
- 4:37No, I'm always confused. Is it the 20th or 21st?
- 4:40She only. Gets the 21st.
- 4:42I don't know, see, I could be wrong.
- 4:44Whatever. Not important.
- 4:47This came out direct direct to DVD.
- 4:49Did not have a PS2. Man, it's too important.
- 4:51It's not like. Forget about it.
- 4:54Forget about it. Forget about.
- 4:56It all right, so this came out on DVD.
- 5:00It was straight to DVD release. So I don't have an at wide
- 5:03release. Other than that I know
- 5:04surprising. Shocking well.
- 5:07We watched it on DVD because we bought the fucking DVD pack of
- 5:11these right here. Yeah, we're those people.
- 5:13I think this is one of those rare moments that you saw the
- 5:16multipack at Walmart and I was one of the hell, yeah, yeah.
- 5:18I remember that exact day. I was like, ohh shit, Wrong
- 5:21Turn, because I've always loved the Wrong Turn series.
- 5:24It's always been fun to me. And I think that that was our
- 5:27first when we first dipped our toes into the sequels, which
- 5:30yeah, ohh boy, what a world, all right?
- 5:34So it is available as of July 9th 2023 to stream nowhere, but
- 5:41you can rent it from YouTube, Google, Voodoo or Prime.
- 5:46Although I don't have any deep research into this other than
- 5:51when I was trying to look up a wrong turn 3 drinking game, the
- 5:56immediate suggested result is wrong turn 3 Google Drive.
- 6:00So if you. Choose to sell the high Cus?
- 6:06That may be an option. Well, awesome.
- 6:08We don't officially endorse that at least favorite scary movie,
- 6:11but. If you can support the people
- 6:12please do but if you I mean the packs for these at the store are
- 6:18super cheap. I'm.
- 6:19Considering they didn't even go up with them, I think DVDs at
- 6:22Walmart went down. Yeah, you know, they they
- 6:25deflated. We have what we own is the
- 6:27original like DVD 3 pack of 1-2 and three.
- 6:31I'm considering buying the Blu-ray 5 pack.
- 6:34It stops at 5:00 so we won't get 6 on it, which is great for us.
- 6:38I feel like they made that for us.
- 6:40Yeah, they're like, we know exactly where and when you want
- 6:43to stop with this. Yeah, but it's cheap.
- 6:44You can get all this shit for like 10 bucks if you wanted to.
- 6:47It's not that much. And you get a lot of movies, and
- 6:48they're all pretty decent too. So this was written.
- 6:53By Connor James Delaney, his one and only riding credit.
- 6:58Wow. Which I don't know what that
- 7:00says. Like, did he do wrong?
- 7:02Turn 3 is like, that's my peak. I can't continue.
- 7:05Or was it like, I will never recover from this?
- 7:07Nobody will take me seriously. Or was he held at gunpoint and
- 7:10forced to make this? It could be that too.
- 7:13Or is that what they names their AI program?
- 7:17Connor, James, Dewane. Yeah.
- 7:19It could be that too. Are you implying that this is
- 7:22such a jumbled mess? It's like an AI.
- 7:25I'm not not saying that, HM. OK, well we have this directed
- 7:33by Declan O'Brien. Yeah, we do.
- 7:35So Declan O'Brien, we're stepping into the Declan.
- 7:39The Dylan era. Yeah, he did 3-4 and five.
- 7:43He also did the third joyride movie he did, and if you've seen
- 7:48all three Joyride movies and you notice a definite tone, shift,
- 7:52it is. 5000% because of Declan O'Brien.
- 7:56It was really funny. I'm not saying good or bad about
- 8:00it, I'm just saying he's got a definite flare and that flare is
- 8:04boobies. It was really funny whenever we
- 8:07watched Joy Ride Three and then like after watching these and
- 8:10that, it says directed by Declan O'Brien, we're.
- 8:13Like, ah, lightbulb. Yeah, it was a full light.
- 8:15Because we're like, not that we dislike this movie, it just
- 8:18doesn't feel like the other wrong turn movies.
- 8:20And then we get to the posing, yeah, yeah, it doesn't feel like
- 8:23the other joyride movies. And then we get to the end and
- 8:26we're like, ah. Yeah.
- 8:28There we go. That's it.
- 8:29OK. Now you get to a place where you
- 8:31can just like you're like, I wanna watch a Declan O'Brien
- 8:34mess. There we go.
- 8:35Yeah, yeah. You know, I find them to be
- 8:37fairly solid. I don't think it's a bad thing.
- 8:40Whenever you see a Declan O'Brien name on there and
- 8:42actually watching some of the stuff from the DVD special
- 8:45features on this, I have a lot of respect for him.
- 8:47I have just said that we're in our trash monster eras.
- 8:50It's fine. It was really.
- 8:52Cool. Like this guy I feel like is he
- 8:55is like one of us because there was pictures of him directing
- 8:58and he's wearing a Killer Clowns from Outer Space Tshirt, you
- 9:01know what I mean? Like he knows what he is.
- 9:03He knows what he's making. He's making fun slasher, stupid
- 9:06movies. If I didn't think that he could
- 9:08take the poking of the fun, I wouldn't do it, OK?
- 9:11He seems like he's probably self aware.
- 9:13Oh, yeah, sure. Yeah.
- 9:15All right. Music is by Cloud Foisey and
- 9:18special effects makeups. By Jana Stoyanova.
- 9:23Jana Stoyanova, yeah. Jana Stoyanova OK, this movie
- 9:27stars Tom Frederick as Nate OK Janet Montgomery as Alex, Tamair
- 9:34Hassan as Chavez, Gil Kalyan as Floyd, Tom McKay as Brandon
- 9:44Charles. Vin playing Walter.
- 9:47Christian Contreras as Willie, Jake Curran as Crawford.
- 9:51Borislav Lev has three finger. Borislav Petrov has three toes.
- 10:01Yeah, I didn't know he had a name until, like, I looked into
- 10:05this and like the little mutant is 3 toes.
- 10:08OK, we don't get to see his toes, so we.
- 10:10Don't know. Do you show his toes?
- 10:11Do they? Do they show three toes?
- 10:13Yeah. Really.
- 10:13Are you fucking getting me to that?
- 10:14Yeah, when they find the, when they find him in the woods and
- 10:17they, like, have the whole fight, and when they're cutting
- 10:19off his head, they're like he's got three toes, Probably the
- 10:22other guy's son well. Shit, I never noticed that,
- 10:25yeah. Wow.
- 10:26There's just so much more going on.
- 10:27In this, I'm just more embarrassed with myself that I
- 10:29didn't think to refer to him as three toes in my notes.
- 10:32I just called him boy. I just called him Son, son, son.
- 10:36I think it's hilarious that this movie only has three Finger and
- 10:40his son. I forgot that the rust got taken
- 10:42out by the Marine in the second one, which is a shame because
- 10:46the Marine kicked fucking ass. Yeah, you're right, I forgot.
- 10:49About that, my man. Cuz I just thought they were
- 10:53like. Wrong turn 3.
- 10:54Let's just have this be 3 fingers like it's his movie.
- 10:57Wrong turn 3 finger. I mean, like that could have
- 11:00been that. Is that our fucking?
- 11:04Is that our tagline right there? Yes.
- 11:05Boom. Wrong turn 3 wrong turn 3
- 11:07finger. No, it's got it all lay.
- 11:09Together. Wrong.
- 11:09Turn 3 fingers. Yes.
- 11:11OK, when you illustrate it, I need you to do like the Saw
- 11:14three movie poster and just have three fingers.
- 11:16Ooh baby, I'm thinking more cuz like the name is left for dead
- 11:20and have you seen the cover of the left for dead game.
- 11:23It's like them with four. Like I could do like the three
- 11:26Boom. I don't know you guys you're
- 11:28yeah. Listening to this right now you
- 11:30can see what I did I. Don't fucking know what I was.
- 11:31Doing. Yeah, I know.
- 11:33I'm just saying like, do it like that.
- 11:34Just stop tickling. Okay, budget or bug.
- 11:38Ted. Jesse.
- 11:41You didn't do that the fun way. All right, Jesse, it's time for
- 11:44us to play our favorite little game on this podcast.
- 11:48Budget or budget? Okay.
- 11:55Yeah, this is a bucket. But.
- 11:58I think you would be surprised at the actual budget on this.
- 12:00It's $3,000,000. Holy shit.
- 12:02That's more than Jersey Shore Massacre I.
- 12:04Know well it looks a lot better than Jersey Shore.
- 12:07Yes, it does. It looks a whole lot better than
- 12:09Jersey Shore Massacre does it? All right, I don't have an
- 12:12opening box office because as I said, this came out straight to
- 12:15DVD. But I do have the cells figures
- 12:19from those DVD cells and this movie made $5.9 million.
- 12:23So it did. .00001%. We contributed and that's what
- 12:29matters. IMDb score 4.6 out of 10.
- 12:35Wow. Yes, it goes down, baby.
- 12:38No, that's just higher than I thought.
- 12:39This one would be it goes down and up.
- 12:42It's a roller coaster, all right.
- 12:45So I picked 3 movies and there's kind of a just a.
- 12:51General vibe theme to these right here Okay.
- 12:53I do have a similar theme to the first one here, Okay.
- 13:00So the first movie is The Hills Run Red.
- 13:04Okay. We have tried watching this one
- 13:07time but we didn't finish it. No recollection of that.
- 13:10So I think that these all have kind of interesting killers.
- 13:14So you got three fingers in wrong.
- 13:16Turn 3. This one right here has
- 13:17babyface. Yes, you've heard me, Babyface.
- 13:20He has the mask of a little baby doll.
- 13:24I'm gonna say that just is like Valentine and Happy Death Day.
- 13:28It's a really interesting premise for a movie.
- 13:30It's about these people that find that are looking for like
- 13:34Lost Media of this movie, horror movie that was reportedly that's
- 13:39not film really and this guy is like and his group of friends
- 13:45are wanting to go and look and find it.
- 13:48And Babyface is the killer in that movie.
- 13:50And like, they go there and they actually encounter Babyface.
- 13:53Well, shit, that does sound like something we'd watch.
- 13:55Yeah, and like, I don't know, I I still want to give it a shot.
- 14:00So we should watch that sometime, but that came out
- 14:03September 29th, 2009. That was almost my sister's
- 14:07birthday, I think. Maybe.
- 14:09Just kidding. No, I know my sister's birthday.
- 14:11No, you don't. It's September 27th.
- 14:12No, 29th maybe. I don't know.
- 14:13It's the 29th, Could be it could be 29th though, you don't know.
- 14:17No, I know it's. No, you don't know.
- 14:18So this had a budget of 4.5 million worldwide gross.
- 14:23I don't know. I don't have any cells data.
- 14:26There is a screen factory release of this movie.
- 14:28There, of course there is, you know.
- 14:30Of course. Come on, they don't do
- 14:31everything. Well, I was gonna say, actually
- 14:34it would have made more sense if you'd said arrow or vinegar
- 14:36syndrome. Yeah, I think this would fit
- 14:39more with vinegar syndrome, but I.
- 14:41Think really. I mean, of course you know that,
- 14:44rather than of course it exists. Well, yeah.
- 14:47I like Travis. I don't love the Blue Ray
- 14:49releases, Blue Ray and Blue K releases.
- 14:51I have a lacking catalog. That is so flattering.
- 14:54Thank you so much. I appreciate that IMDb score of
- 14:585.4. Okay. 2nd movie Way to rest.
- 15:04Now you're familiar with this one because I think whenever we
- 15:09talked about Wrong Turn Two, we had a guest on.
- 15:12Yeah. And he wanted to talk before we
- 15:15we it was sequel month that month.
- 15:17Yeah, Yeah. And then we told him ask to be a
- 15:19sequel. He wanted to talk about Way to
- 15:20Rest 2. But we're like, well, we haven't
- 15:23talked about the first one, so we don't want to jump to two
- 15:25right away. Okay.
- 15:27So we ended up doing Wrong Turn 2.
- 15:29But Laterest is about a killer named Chrome School.
- 15:34OK, OK, OK. I do remember I was talking
- 15:36about this. Yeah, and I think it's it's made
- 15:38and directed by like a special effects suit.
- 15:40What's the guess name It was Brian.
- 15:42Brian Asman. Yes, Brian Asman.
- 15:45He was another author, friend of Robert Dutone.
- 15:49So yeah, that one. Chrome School.
- 15:51There's like a sequel. It seems to be a fairly
- 15:53successful indie series that's going.
- 15:56I think the guy that made it though died, so I don't know if
- 15:58it's going to continue unless somebody else picks up the
- 16:02property. But that came out March 18th,
- 16:052009. Don't have a budget.
- 16:07Don't. Have a gross It's my mom's
- 16:08birthday. Maybe.
- 16:09I don't know. It's almost my dad's too.
- 16:11I don't know. I don't know.
- 16:13Except I know. I know.
- 16:14My dad's, My mom's was the 17th. OK, well I'm so fucking proud of
- 16:19you for knowing your family's birthdays.
- 16:21Keep rubbing it in, I. Will.
- 16:23OK. IMDb of 5.2.
- 16:27Okay. All right.
- 16:28And the second one, third one doesn't really match with the
- 16:34other two, but it's a sequel. Cabin Fever 2, which is Ty W
- 16:41directing. Not his debut, but he did it
- 16:44after he did House of the Devil. So that came out.
- 16:48Wait. Is that patient zero?
- 16:50No, this is like straight up the sequel.
- 16:52OK, no, it's just when I was looking up 2014 horror movies
- 16:57for Jersey Shore Massacre, Cabin Fever, Patient Zero was one of
- 17:01the ones listed. So I was like sitting there
- 17:03trying to figure out if maybe there's like a super delayed,
- 17:05like additional release or something.
- 17:07So OK, so there's three Cabin Fever movies.
- 17:09There's more than that. OK, well, there's at least three
- 17:12cabin fever movies. At least four.
- 17:14OK, yeah, then I know why. One, Yeah.
- 17:17Patient zero came out in 2014. OK, Yeah.
- 17:19So. So yeah, this one came out in
- 17:212009, Okay, September 23rd Okay budget of five million.
- 17:26Don't have a gross, but it has 4.3 on IMDb Okay, so it's the
- 17:31lowest. It's lower than wrong turn 3.
- 17:34That's. Ty W man, I don't know.
- 17:37Never seen it. I've only ever seen the first
- 17:40one, so. Yeah, me too.
- 17:42And you know, I'm OK with that. Just staying with that.
- 17:46No, You've said before you'd be interested in checking out the.
- 17:49People. No.
- 17:49I would watch this one for sure, especially since iOS.
- 17:52But also I like that premise. I think that they're like flesh
- 17:56eating bacteria is pretty. Freaky scary.
- 17:58Yeah. Oh man, we should watch the 4th
- 18:01season of AMTM together. I don't know.
- 18:05I don't know where that's going. Flesh eating bacteria.
- 18:08In America's Next Top Model. Yeah.
- 18:11And is that like a challenge? No one of.
- 18:14The contestants. One of the contestants
- 18:16potentially has a flesh eating bacteria.
- 18:18Yeah, I was like, all right ladies, in order to be a model,
- 18:21you have to endure flesh eating bacteria.
- 18:23So God just like throws it all over them.
- 18:26Yeah, no. Like it's actually what it ends
- 18:27up being is impetigo. And it's because they like
- 18:32bleach. The ever living fuck out of this
- 18:34person's hair didn't follow, you know, like the normal safe
- 18:38procedures you would do. She got an infection from it.
- 18:41And because they're modeling and they kept like throwing makeup
- 18:44on top of her. But don't worry, they took it
- 18:46very seriously. And by take it very seriously, I
- 18:49mean later on they did a photo shoot.
- 18:52In I wanna cite Season 8, where they're like and Tm's biggest
- 18:57drama moments. We're gonna do a photo shoot
- 19:00based on that. And they're like, hey, Michelle,
- 19:01do you wanna come back and we're gonna talk about your gross face
- 19:03falling off again? Yeah, let's do that.
- 19:05Great. They should make a movie based
- 19:07off of that. I mean, there's the whole TV
- 19:10show. How?
- 19:13About that one incident? Yep.
- 19:15OK. Taglines.
- 19:18I've got 3 taglines. We have crossover fans in the
- 19:21audience. I know, I know.
- 19:23I get it. And they respected that
- 19:24divergence look. It related.
- 19:26It's fine, I just don't know where to go from there.
- 19:30So we got taglines. We got 3 taglines for wrong
- 19:33turn, 33 fingers, three toes. Wrong turn 3 finger.
- 19:39Three fingers, three toes, 3 movies, 3 taglines.
- 19:43All right, so the first one that's on the poster.
- 19:46This is really lame. What you don't see will kill
- 19:49you. I don't really.
- 19:53They see him plenty. They see both of them plenty.
- 19:56Yeah. #2 Which detour will you take?
- 20:00I don't know, that just sounds like an actual question.
- 20:03They didn't really even take a detour.
- 20:05Nope, they didn't. The third one I think is the
- 20:08best one here. He just can't wait to meet you.
- 20:12Meat spelled MEAT that's better than the other two.
- 20:16I mean, yeah, but. Do you think that they would
- 20:19have been better off being like 3 fingers, Wrong turn 3 fingers?
- 20:23Yeah, yeah, you think so. Well, that's the tagline we're
- 20:26going with. So yeah.
- 20:28The cover does have like 3 fingers in the background just
- 20:31going with this like little. No, he's hooting.
- 20:35Who with this Little Axe? All right, OK, so fun facts.
- 20:43All right, so this is part of the reason why I thought The
- 20:46Hills Run Red matched with this is that they were both shot in
- 20:51Bulgaria. So surprisingly, this movie like
- 20:55it looks so wild, like Appalachia, you know, from
- 20:58somebody that grew up in Appalachia.
- 21:00And they managed to actually find an area like overseas that
- 21:04has that same fill, which is surprising to me.
- 21:06They shot it in 20-4 days. So first day of shooting was the
- 21:11prison scene and they only had one day to shoot that.
- 21:15That also makes sense. Yeah.
- 21:17So as they were shooting that too, when they have the bus
- 21:20pulling out to, you know, go along with the transfer, the bus
- 21:23broke down. Ohh.
- 21:26Man, so that like for having one day of shooting and having to do
- 21:29that that fast, that was not exactly the setback.
- 21:32They weren't. Looking for.
- 21:33But they they did it, they overcame it, they went and shot
- 21:36other shit while they had mechanics working on that.
- 21:40Also, by the way, all of the actors in this are super fucking
- 21:43British, like hearing their actual voices after like in the
- 21:49special features. It was so shocking to hear some
- 21:51of these people. It's probably easier for them to
- 21:53get to Bulgaria than like an American English actor.
- 21:58I don't know. Maybe like you just take a plane
- 22:01Either way, I'm sure. Yeah, but international flight
- 22:05versus? Like intercontinental versus
- 22:09intercontinental? Yeah, I'm sure it's a little bit
- 22:11better, but either way, same thing.
- 22:15Gil Kalyan, who is the guy that plays Floyd, who I refer to in
- 22:20my notes purely as Skinhead. Accurate.
- 22:23Yeah, actually he's super nice dude.
- 22:26Like seeing him on like the behind the scenes stuff, like he
- 22:29was messing around with people and just being like a good
- 22:32presence on set the entire time, which.
- 22:35I think that that's always nice, Like you get to see the really
- 22:38shitty people portrayed by the kindness people.
- 22:41I'm also really glad to hear that too, because he's like and
- 22:45this isn't, I don't know, he sounded super uncomfortable.
- 22:51Saying like the slurs and insults he had to say, like they
- 22:55didn't come out very naturally for.
- 22:57Him. Yeah, he yeah, he definitely was
- 22:59not feeling. That he sounded like he was
- 23:01trying to be harder than he was, which is, I mean that's what
- 23:03acting is. But yeah, yeah, so that that
- 23:06tracks. Well, he's pretty hard because
- 23:08he did his own fire stunt. When they let him on fire at the
- 23:11end, yeah, they're just asked. They just asked him like, do you
- 23:14want to do this? He's like, yeah, sure.
- 23:16Like there's a scene of him like hyping himself up.
- 23:18They're like, he's like standing on the rocks getting ready to
- 23:20be, like, ignited, and he's just going, just pumping himself up.
- 23:26Scary. Yeah, he did a good job.
- 23:28Speaking of fire sense, there's a runway challenge in Cycle 16
- 23:31of America's Next Hot Model where they have to light
- 23:34themselves on fire. Wow, really.
- 23:36MM HM all right? That is an actual challenge.
- 23:40The inmates were actually chained to each other.
- 23:43During the whole shooting. So they had a lot of issues
- 23:46maneuvering around the forests. Whenever they would do that,
- 23:49they would constantly be tripping over one another and
- 23:51they would have to reset scenes a lot That feels.
- 23:54You know, I'm kind of glad they did it that way, though, because
- 23:56it did feel like they were actually chained together
- 23:59watching them. So I'm glad that they weren't
- 24:01like having to put all of their energy into, yeah, acting
- 24:05chained together it. Sounded like it was a pain in
- 24:07the ass for them all. Oh, I am positive it was but.
- 24:11So a lot of the shooting had to be taking place like overnight,
- 24:15because this takes place like in.
- 24:17In night. Yeah, and like the wee hours of
- 24:19the morning. The wee hours.
- 24:21And Deco and O'Brien actually came up with what they call it,
- 24:26the 4:00 AM dance. So like, anytime I could hit
- 24:284:00 AM, they would do a dance. That way they could like, wake
- 24:31themselves up and like, you know, keep the energy flowing.
- 24:33Definitely. Brian seems like such a nerd and
- 24:35I love. It it was funny, man.
- 24:37Like it seemed like they just all kind of like do like little
- 24:39shimmies around and just like kind of get like loose, you
- 24:42know? And it seemed to be working.
- 24:43They were just like, hey, 4:00 AM and they just all kind of
- 24:46like start partying. There was a miscommunication
- 24:48during the the Floyd versus Chavez fight.
- 24:51So whenever they were going to go shoot that that night, there
- 24:55was a like nobody knew that they were supposed to be shooting it
- 24:58except for O'Brien. So whenever it came time to
- 25:01shoot it, they just ended up having to improvise the entire
- 25:04thing. Oh, which apparently it was
- 25:07supposed to be this huge coordinated fight, but kind of
- 25:10like how they did with Chavez versus 3 Finger, which they went
- 25:14into a lot of detail on that too, because that was like a
- 25:17whole scripted thing that they did.
- 25:19But they're like, yeah, this came out almost as good as the
- 25:21three finger fight too. I kind of like it because it
- 25:23felt like a real brawl between Hard and prisoners.
- 25:26Yeah, right. It's kind of like they live with
- 25:29Roddy Piper and Childs, Yeah. I can't.
- 25:35Oh my God. What is his fucking name?
- 25:36I Oh my God. Keith.
- 25:38David. David, that's it.
- 25:40Yeah. We love Keith David, and it's
- 25:41just one of those names that neither of us ever seems to like
- 25:44easily remember, for whatever reason.
- 25:47And that's it. That's all I got.
- 25:49So that's my fun facts. OK.
- 25:52All right, so. Let's get into our discussion on
- 25:55it. Jesse, tell me what you did like
- 25:58about this one. I liked Chavez's character.
- 26:05Yeah, like, not like as a person because obviously, like, he's a
- 26:08terrible person. But so I love like, mystery
- 26:11thriller action novels and my favorite like, villains and good
- 26:16guys. Both are the ones that are like
- 26:17very tactical and calculating and super calm in the moment,
- 26:22and they can pivot. I'm a big Reacher fan if that
- 26:25tells you guys anything. And the way he's just like very
- 26:28sure of himself and can pivot at a moment's notice.
- 26:32Knows how to use people in all the right ways, like.
- 26:35He sounds like a calculating sociopath, which is what you
- 26:38want in those type of a character he's.
- 26:40Super intimidating. Yeah, I like.
- 26:43I love having him as like our secondary villain.
- 26:46Obviously Three Finger and Three Toe are primary villains, but I
- 26:49like having him as the secondary villain.
- 26:51I agree. And I think he's the best actor
- 26:53of the cast, too. Yeah, by, like, Miles.
- 26:56Yeah, he's really good. Yeah.
- 26:58I I like the whole premise of this.
- 27:01I think that this is kind of an, it's an interesting take for.
- 27:04A sequel because you know, it's like a like taking like
- 27:08convicts, like people that you should be afraid of should be
- 27:10like tough and be able to hold your own.
- 27:13And then you have it against just like 3 fingers this entire
- 27:15time. And like 3 fingers is like
- 27:17there's no match for him. I think that that's like a cool
- 27:20concept because you know, it's bad people.
- 27:22Well, we learned in the Pre cool that three finger is like a
- 27:26former prisoner. Yeah, true, but that wasn't
- 27:29established yet. I know, I'm just saying.
- 27:31Yeah, he's like a mutated guy that can't really feel pain.
- 27:34And yeah, this current iteration, so, but I like that.
- 27:39I like having stuff like that where you have like bad versus
- 27:42more bad. That makes it entertaining.
- 27:45It makes it like fun to watch fight scenes and like all of the
- 27:50like dealings and plotting and all of that, because it's just
- 27:56like. I love a moral Gray moment like.
- 27:59Yeah, and it's cool having like you get the the undercovered cop
- 28:03plant too, which is always cool that.
- 28:05Feels like a wasted storyline. I know, like they just put him
- 28:08there and then they don't really do anything with it, which is
- 28:11weird like. He dies so unceremoniously, too.
- 28:14Like normally that would be the main cop character that we
- 28:17follow, but we follow Nate instead.
- 28:19We end up with Nate and Brandon. Brandon.
- 28:22Yeah, like. Cool.
- 28:24Why? Couldn't have been like, maybe
- 28:26Willie broke bad while he, like, had to be.
- 28:29Maybe that's where we get our moral conflict is like, Willie
- 28:32has to break bad to survive this night.
- 28:34And after being, you know, undercover as a prisoner, you
- 28:37know, I'm just rewriting it in a better way.
- 28:40Honestly, you're right. Like having like, putting him in
- 28:43uncomfortable situations where he, like, might have to shoot
- 28:46the other cops there. And don't get me wrong, I am
- 28:49never mad about a movie that shifts character focus midway
- 28:52through. We watched Fucking Terrifier
- 28:54last night and I love the way they shift the protagonist.
- 28:58Yeah, definitely. But like, it feel like it wasn't
- 29:03a notable shift, you know what I mean?
- 29:05Like they plant the seed and then they just.
- 29:07I don't even think it. Gets to water it I.
- 29:09Don't think it was ever intended to be like that.
- 29:11Like I, Nate was always our guy. Cuz we get more relating like
- 29:15background information I'm saying.
- 29:16For him. But then we get soldier boy
- 29:18Brandon. We don't really get much for him
- 29:21either. He's just.
- 29:21But he becomes such a major player at the end.
- 29:24He should have been the one that gets his face chopped off in the
- 29:27trap, and it ends up being Nate and Willie.
- 29:30I agree. I think that that would have
- 29:31been more interesting to watch. One more good I think that they
- 29:35do a great job with the stunts, and even though some of the
- 29:39kills look shitty, a lot of this is practical effects.
- 29:43Only the ones that they clearly do the computer graphics over
- 29:46top of. Yeah, I.
- 29:48Know and we've this is we've watched this on the kill count
- 29:52before so like we. Have it confirmed that they did
- 29:55these kills practically and. Then saw it in that thing.
- 29:58Yeah, like the special features. And then, for whatever reason,
- 30:02they decided to cover it up with computer graphics.
- 30:05And it's just so disappointing, yeah.
- 30:08I know first of all, a lot like. And I'm not saying work doesn't
- 30:10go into computer graphics, it's I'm not saying that by any shape
- 30:14or form, but like you're doing double work for a subpar
- 30:18product. Well, I don't think it was.
- 30:20I think it was designed in a way where it was supposed to be both
- 30:23of them. It wasn't designed well in.
- 30:25No, it's a cheap made for like video movie.
- 30:29You know what I mean? Like it's never gonna look
- 30:31amazing unless they go full practical, and even then it's
- 30:34not gonna look amazing but more respectable.
- 30:37If it goes that route either way though, I think that like all
- 30:40the stunts and all the like set pieces, all the kills in this
- 30:42movie are all pretty good from my standard.
- 30:46That. Yeah, I'm OK with all of that.
- 30:48OK, have you already said you're bad basically at this point, or
- 30:51do you have more bad to talk about?
- 30:54It's just like a meandering plot.
- 30:55I don't think that most of the acting is all that great.
- 30:59I think the acting's pretty decent, honestly.
- 31:01I know you said it in the Jersey Shore massacre episode that you
- 31:03think that they acted better in that, but I I feel like
- 31:06everybody here. Like some of the people are
- 31:08weak, but I think that for the most part like it's a pretty
- 31:12solid gas. I don't feel it.
- 31:15OK, I don't. Feel it Like I said, I feel like
- 31:19Floyd. And you know it's funny cuz we
- 31:21talked about this last week, like did we think it feel like
- 31:23the Georgia girl was uncomfortable saying all the
- 31:26race or shit she had to say as an actor?
- 31:28And we always hope that people are uncomfortable with that, but
- 31:31like at the same time feeling how uncomfortable he clearly is
- 31:35when he's playing a Skinhead. Like, and it's complex because I
- 31:42don't like listening to that shit.
- 31:44I could do without all of it, although it's going to be a
- 31:46reality when you're doing a prison based movie.
- 31:49But like, I don't know, I can just tell that like he wasn't
- 31:54prepared for all of that and it helps knowing that they're all
- 31:59British, so maybe they're all just trying really hard to sound
- 32:02American Southern. I think that they do a decent
- 32:04job doing the accent too. Yeah, but it's just like it
- 32:07feels very stilted line delivery a lot of the time for me.
- 32:10OK, that's fine. So yeah, my bad.
- 32:14I mean just kind of what we said before.
- 32:16I think that the like that one kill like the CGI it looks
- 32:21terrible and. Cuz it could have been such a
- 32:23cool a cool fucking kill. Yeah, I agree.
- 32:26But that it looks like they literally like laid a green
- 32:28screen over top of the body and. And.
- 32:31I agree that I think that they wasted that character of the
- 32:36planted cop because yeah, like nothing happens with him.
- 32:39Like he just he really is just one of the inmates.
- 32:43Like he never has any like any conflicts or anything.
- 32:47Yeah. And like, we never find out
- 32:48who's feeding the information because clear, like, you know,
- 32:52Floyd even makes a point of saying that like.
- 32:54Oh, he was able to get a hold of his contacts.
- 32:56So they're still going to be able to disrupt the transfer
- 33:00that never comes to fruition. We saw all this gearing up with
- 33:02the US Marshals. That never comes to fruition.
- 33:06Like, none of it matters. Yeah.
- 33:09No, it doesn't. It's, it's.
- 33:11So it would have been nice if it were, you know, done a little
- 33:14bit better, but whatever. Like if you're going to do
- 33:16complex, make the pieces come together.
- 33:18Otherwise just do simple. A simple movie can be fun.
- 33:22Yeah, I mean, this right here wins itself pretty well to be
- 33:25simple. Take out some of those plot
- 33:26elements and it's fun. OK, ugly.
- 33:31OK, all of the racism, OK, obviously.
- 33:36And then like the prisoners being just so fucking gross to
- 33:41to Alex. Alex.
- 33:43Yeah, like it's so over the top and.
- 33:46Yeah, I think we can both agree that that's the ugly for this
- 33:49movie. Yeah, like it's, you know.
- 33:51It's uncomfortable to listen to and like it becomes over the and
- 33:56like I said was like a prison movie.
- 33:58You know that there's gonna be like race lines.
- 34:01You can assume that with that there's potential for at least
- 34:05one of them to be. Explicitly, graphically,
- 34:08violently sexual towards a person like you can expect all
- 34:12of that, but like having to listen to it over and over and
- 34:15over again for an hour and a half.
- 34:17I don't think it ever gets excessive or anything like that.
- 34:21You think it gets excessive? Yeah, really.
- 34:23Yeah, I feel like it could have been way worse.
- 34:25Are you kidding? Me.
- 34:25I mean, it could have been worse, but that doesn't mean
- 34:27that it's not already excessive. I.
- 34:29Don't know you. Can get excessive and
- 34:30excessiver. I suppose I just don't really
- 34:33think it's, like, at a problematic point, Like it's a
- 34:36fucking movie about shitty people.
- 34:38Yeah, they're gonna say and do shitty things.
- 34:39Like, that's just kind of like, you know, like you have to have
- 34:42those types of people too sometimes.
- 34:44Like, you know, if that stuff is not if you can't have that stuff
- 34:48in the movies and you're just gonna have some bland movies.
- 34:50Yeah, but I'm saying that like it's very one note with it.
- 34:56Well, I mean, I don't know what else you could do.
- 34:59Like, I mean you're just like it's these people like very
- 35:01limited interactions with each other.
- 35:04So like they already have like that history and prejudices
- 35:07against each other. So like it's going to hit those
- 35:10those beats. I don't know.
- 35:12I just, I don't. I feel very uncomfortable with.
- 35:15It like, it sucks. It's shitty things to say is
- 35:17shitty people. But you know, like it's it's a
- 35:19fucking movie. Like it's just people talking
- 35:21like saying shitty things and they're about to die too, yeah.
- 35:23But it's still shitty. And it's still ugly.
- 35:26Yeah, I know. That's what I'm saying.
- 35:27I'm saying it's fine. Like it is like shitty and ugly.
- 35:29I agree with you. Just, you know, it is what it
- 35:32is. OK, Absurd.
- 35:36This armored truck that apparently went off the road and
- 35:41nobody came looking for it because an armored truck doesn't
- 35:44exist like untracked it would be just like the prison bus where
- 35:48somebody is waiting for that delivery to.
- 35:50Happen 50s. It's been there for like over
- 35:52half a century. There's no fucking way.
- 35:54Yeah, it is crazy. My absurd is like this whole
- 36:02thing with the sheriff from like the hometown, like their whole
- 36:07crew. Like they just kind of feel
- 36:09shoehorned in, you know what I mean?
- 36:10Like they feel like they're made to be important, but they really
- 36:13aren't important, but they kind of are important.
- 36:15It matters because that's the bargaining chip that keeps Nate
- 36:18alive, because he's from around there.
- 36:20So that's why they keep him alive so he can lead the way.
- 36:22I at least understand why that's thrown in there.
- 36:25Around the Willy plot line. No, I'm talking about the
- 36:28sheriff and the deputy cop. They're just sort of there to
- 36:31help. Really the only thing that they
- 36:33do is they just supply the dog that helps and then cuz they
- 36:38just get killed, they don't end up really being much.
- 36:41Use Well, at least we get something with the sheriff.
- 36:45He it seems like he's gonna save the day and then he gets killed.
- 36:48But like with the deputy, like she gets the shit under the
- 36:51stick. Yeah, she just shows up at the
- 36:53truck and then is eventually shown to be caught and is being
- 36:56killed. Yeah.
- 36:58Yeah, it's weird. OK, so all things said and done,
- 37:03what do you rate it? You're gonna be mad.
- 37:05I'm rating it a four. Oh, that's OK.
- 37:08I just, I don't. I don't have as much fun with
- 37:11this as I do with the other ones.
- 37:13That's. Totally fair.
- 37:16I wish it could be stupider in some ways.
- 37:20I wish it could like, be more fun and playful.
- 37:25OK. 'Cause that's what I want out of
- 37:28these movies is dumb, stupid, fun, playful, over the top
- 37:31stereotypes and just that's what I want.
- 37:36OK, that's fine. Yeah, I get you.
- 37:39I'm going to rate it like a 675. I do have fun with this one.
- 37:43I think it is fun. I think.
- 37:45The set pieces are enough to make it stand out and be its own
- 37:48interesting thing. I like the plot, like the whole
- 37:52like situation with them being prisoners and they're like they
- 37:57reckon they have to like go through the woods.
- 37:59I think the added element of the money, it is like another
- 38:03interesting dynamic that gets brought in to the mix and like
- 38:07kind of ups the stakes with everybody else.
- 38:11I don't know. I have a good time with it.
- 38:13I think, yeah, it's just fun. Well, we have a starting average
- 38:16of 5.375 all. Right.
- 38:18OK, so it starts off with two college couples and they are
- 38:24whitewater rafting. They're all very bad at
- 38:27paddling. So it feels very much like they
- 38:29hired these actors and then said your job is to raft.
- 38:34Yeah, And they were like, we lied on our resumes.
- 38:38Yeah, we just wanted. An acting role?
- 38:42So they eventually they like pull up to the shore and I like
- 38:46these are two person like single day like kayaking type rafts.
- 38:52Like rentals? Yes, yeah, they what I'm saying
- 38:55is that they don't have supplies with them, but for some reason
- 38:57when they pull to the shore of the river, they say.
- 39:00So let's set up camp here tonight.
- 39:03Yeah, I don't. I got was questioning the same
- 39:06thing whenever they did that. Like where the fuck is your shit
- 39:08then? One couple decides that they are
- 39:12ready to hump while the other two are well, the one guy is out
- 39:17doing something and the girl is like, oh, you guys are going to
- 39:20hump and I don't want to see that.
- 39:22And then the girl gets shot through the boob because that
- 39:26was the theme of last night's movie watching for us.
- 39:29It goes through the boob and through his hand because he's
- 39:31filling her up. Yeah, yeah.
- 39:33And then that's the other one goes through her eye.
- 39:36That is what? Jesus canonically said will
- 39:38happen if you have premarital sex.
- 39:40Through the NIP an. Arrow will go through your boob
- 39:43and hand. Yep, this I'm.
- 39:46Going to hell. This opening was actually
- 39:49supposed to be different in the original script, apparently.
- 39:52What was it supposed to be? Well, apparently, like the girls
- 39:55were supposed to, like, be suntanning.
- 39:58And then they decided to go skinny dipping and it's 3 Toes
- 40:03who like the teenage boy in. Two is also like sexually
- 40:08charged, so he's like very fixated on them and he does the
- 40:13killing and the hunting here, not Three Finger.
- 40:16OK. Yeah, but no.
- 40:19What happens is the other person comes back and, well, the guy
- 40:23with that had that arrow through his hand, goes running off.
- 40:27The girl gets her eyeball shot out and eaten.
- 40:31Meanwhile Alex is like hiding in the bushes cuz I guess she was
- 40:34gonna spy at her front having sex or she heard spying.
- 40:37I don't. I don't know what was happening.
- 40:38There one or the other. Yeah, she could have been.
- 40:40Innocent till proven guilty. Chase's the other boyfriend that
- 40:45went missing for whatever reason he gets.
- 40:49He gets like the trap, I think. Does he get the trap that?
- 40:52Goes No, I think he gets just like a normal.
- 40:56Oh, he gets. The pole, yeah, gets the.
- 40:57Pole shut through his mouth, which pretty solid.
- 41:00And then the one that got shot through the hand is the one that
- 41:03gets in the trap. That's the one that's the most
- 41:05egregious with the CGI kill. Like, it's a cool concept.
- 41:09He's like trisected and it could have been really cool trisected
- 41:14vertically. And it could have been really
- 41:16cool, but. Yeah, it just reminds me a lot
- 41:18of the scene from. Final destination too.
- 41:20Yeah, with the rope, Yep. Yep, defense.
- 41:23Yep, that kills. The Stoner dude?
- 41:26What's his name? But it's on the blonde kids
- 41:28farm. We do not care what you did,
- 41:31darling. Fucking isn't it?
- 41:33Yeah, you're right, okay. Always comes back to Twilight.
- 41:37Always does. Never fails.
- 41:40All right, So yeah. We should just change the name
- 41:42to our show to like 3 degrees of twilight.
- 41:45We could probably. All right, so now we're at
- 41:49Grafton Penitentiary. Prison Shenanigans are being
- 41:52had. It's just people working out in
- 41:54the courtyard, you know, playing basketball, being racist to each
- 41:58other. You know how it goes.
- 42:00Floyd was so angry while he was doing his bicep curls.
- 42:03And then I just kept thinking of the episode of American Dad
- 42:06with. Yeah, and his old business
- 42:10partner is in his cell like, hey you Ricky Spanish.
- 42:14And then his cellmates going, I love working out to things we
- 42:18hate. And he goes, Gene jackets,
- 42:21Timothy's Bangs, Gene jacket. That is one of my favorite
- 42:25episodes of American Dad, I think.
- 42:27Yeah, it's one of the best. Yeah, for sure.
- 42:30So. Ricky Spanish.
- 42:32Floyd and Chavez are scheming together.
- 42:35We don't necessarily know what's happening, but they're like,
- 42:39they're frenemies because, like, they hate each other, but they,
- 42:42like, realize that they have to work together to get out of
- 42:45prison. So there's a prison transfer
- 42:50that's gonna be happening. Yeah, the CEO's are talking in
- 42:52the locker room. They need to go talk to the
- 42:54warden because there's a transfer happening that night.
- 42:58They're doing it because supposedly Chavez has plans to
- 43:03be broken out during his transfer next week.
- 43:06So they moved it up a week. It's going to be in the middle
- 43:08of the night and they're taking a detour.
- 43:10They're doing all the precautions.
- 43:11And on top of that, William Warheads Warheads Juarez.
- 43:17Jesus Christ, that's a. Cool nickname for him though,
- 43:19William the Warhead Juarez. Yeah, yeah.
- 43:23William Juarez. It is a Marshall who is
- 43:28undercover as Willie Juarez. Never put that one together.
- 43:34Imagine like when they, like put the pieces together like they're
- 43:37like. You.
- 43:37William, I thought you were Willie.
- 43:39I liked you. Imagine that They're like Willie
- 43:41William. Are you sure you're good with
- 43:43this alias? And he goes.
- 43:45I have been called Willie Juarez.
- 43:48God fuck, I haven't been called Willie Juarez since that was. 10
- 43:54Yeah, nobody's gonna think of. Nobody will put it together.
- 43:58Yeah. Yeah.
- 44:00So they're like Nate, we're just telling you in case something
- 44:03goes wrong so you can communicate.
- 44:06And Nate's like, I am a law student.
- 44:10Yeah. I this guy.
- 44:11I don't understand his place here with them, but whatever.
- 44:14Yep. You're going along with it, bud.
- 44:15Yeah. And he got fuck.
- 44:18I almost called him Watson. Walter.
- 44:20Yeah, Walter's there too. He's gonna be doing the
- 44:23transfer. He's driving and then we get a
- 44:25third unnamed CEO who has the rifle.
- 44:28Some bald dude don't really know what he is.
- 44:30Some bald dude, that's his name. Some bald dude is grooving to
- 44:34all our love letters. So the cops get a call that the
- 44:38couples from the beginning of the movie are missing.
- 44:41And I think these are the cops from like, was it Greenbrier,
- 44:45which is where they're gonna be, like making a pit stop at here
- 44:48soon. Where Nate's from?
- 44:49Yeah, so the sheriff says he's gonna go check it out and he
- 44:52says come on, Leon. Leon is his dog, German
- 44:55Shepherd, and he's 14 years old. Good boy Leon, man.
- 44:58Leon's fucking good, man. Like Leon saves the day in this
- 45:02movie. He does.
- 45:04He has a hero's death. Yeah, so we get a little.
- 45:08Glimpse of the people that are gonna be part of the transfer.
- 45:11We have an ex soldier. Brandon.
- 45:13Brandon. He claims he's innocent, and I
- 45:16love how, after he says he's innocent, the undercover cop's
- 45:18like, yeah, me too. I feel like he actually admits
- 45:21like shit. Well, I think, and they all
- 45:25start laughing. They're like, yeah, it's prison.
- 45:26Everybody here is innocent. Yeah, and Crawford's like, I
- 45:29definitely didn't steal all those cars.
- 45:31Yeah, Crawford is. Crawford starts making fun of
- 45:34him, and Crawford is definitely like that nerdy kid that nobody
- 45:37likes. But he starts picking on a
- 45:39weaker person and everybody immediately tolerates him
- 45:42because he becomes Floyd's lackey after.
- 45:44That, yeah, he's the guy that everybody picked on.
- 45:46And then he like, smelled blood right there.
- 45:49And so he's like, this is my chance to actually shit on
- 45:50people. Maybe I can win the respect of
- 45:52everybody else here, but. That, yeah.
- 45:55Exactly. But I don't think he gets
- 45:57anybody's respect. OK, so we got they're now doing
- 46:02the transfers, they're all driving their way there, Walter.
- 46:05Back story is that he put himself through school and put
- 46:08himself through law school and he wants to get rich and then do
- 46:11pro bono work because that's the way that works.
- 46:13I don't know how many of that. Works I I would have bought it
- 46:16and. Then he wants to retire to
- 46:18Miami. Yeah, no, We've got a friend who
- 46:21literally just passed the bar a few months ago and was talking
- 46:24about like, he makes shit as a public defender right now.
- 46:26But that's the way you do it. You work in the public
- 46:28defender's office. You make those connections and
- 46:32then you get an offer to a well paying law firm.
- 46:34You. That's how you rank with
- 46:36lawyers. Should have asked a qualified
- 46:39lawyer, yeah. We're lawyers.
- 46:41Consult them SO. I only specialize in bird law,
- 46:44so. They make a pit stop and they
- 46:48some town of Greenbrier at the sheriff station there, so
- 46:51everybody can use the bathroom. And I think that's.
- 46:53Also meant to be implied that they gas up there because the
- 46:55warden had told him like, gas up here.
- 46:57And this is also OK yeah, we will call them 20 minutes before
- 47:02you're supposed to arrive. Yeah.
- 47:03So it seems like even the sheriff wasn't supposed to know.
- 47:06So Nate goes blabbing his fucking mouth about why they're
- 47:09doing this and all of that. And for a minute, I really
- 47:13thought the sheriff was going to be the plant because, like, Nate
- 47:16was just so trusting because he's known him since he was a
- 47:18small child. And I was like, oh, is the
- 47:20sheriff dirty like? Is just a good old boy.
- 47:24I put so much more emphasis on this whole, like, undercover
- 47:30communication thing than there actually is, because I can never
- 47:33remember a fucking thing about this movie.
- 47:37It's just fucking good old boys. Oh, she and Nate.
- 47:40What you doing around here? You used to grow up around here,
- 47:42didn't you, son? Yeah, buddy.
- 47:44You grew up real good right here in Greenbrier.
- 47:46Y'all went here about that time That makes shit is pants in
- 47:49front of the whole school, yeah. She did it, buddy.
- 47:52Walter's just sitting there, like.
- 47:54Walter's like, tell me. Everything Walter's like, you
- 47:56fucking grew up around here, this middle of nowhere, you
- 47:59fucking Hick. And then and he calls me like
- 48:02you guys are fucking Hicks. Like it's just like sitting
- 48:05there like. I think because they're just
- 48:06talking about like hillbilly shit, yeah, I was like, yeah
- 48:09man, I'm fucking from nowhere. Hillbilly shit place.
- 48:12It's not that bad. It's not.
- 48:15It's just a small town, but it happens to be in the holler.
- 48:18And if you are in a small town in a holler, well, only small
- 48:23towns can be in haulers. Yeah, to clarify, yeah, but like
- 48:26if you grew up in a holler, you're automatically a Hick.
- 48:28All right, so. We get them winding up, I guess,
- 48:31that they have to put them in the jail cells while the other
- 48:33people go pee, pee because, you know, like they could put in an
- 48:37escape. Ohh absolutely.
- 48:39And Crawford tries to hit on the deputy there, and she just beats
- 48:42the shit out of him. Well, OK, so he's staring at her
- 48:46and she could have either just ignored it or said something
- 48:49about it and she chose to say something about it because I'm
- 48:51sure she gets shit like that all the time, both from like.
- 48:56Perps and convicted persons and other law enforcement.
- 49:00Probably not the sheriff. Yeah, like, so she probably
- 49:02like, hello, welcome to misogyny.
- 49:07She probably deals with it a lot and she's just, you know,
- 49:10learned different tactics on how to deal with it And she shows
- 49:13the aggressive tactic with him. Which good.
- 49:14Fuck Crawford. He kind of sucks.
- 49:16He was. Feeling really big after talking
- 49:18about soldier boy. So he's like, you know what I
- 49:19think I might be able to like? Hit on this officer here, I
- 49:22might be able to get some. Which, listen, I didn't catch
- 49:25that soldier boy's name was Brandon until like near the end
- 49:28of the movie. So I kept riding a soldier boy
- 49:30and like every time I would write it in my notes, I'm gonna
- 49:32go tell him. Little boy, tell him.
- 49:36OK, so they get back on the bus. Meanwhile, while this has been
- 49:40going down, three Toe has been trying to set traps.
- 49:43But he's a little guy. He's little.
- 49:45The traps are so big he gets caught underneath it.
- 49:48So three fingers like. Three toe.
- 49:51Let me help you out, son. I always forget the three toes
- 49:54in this because like, it's just not even a factor.
- 49:57He just looks like a tinier version of three finger and
- 50:01three fingers. Already a tiny guy.
- 50:03Yeah, he's a little scrawny boy. Yeah.
- 50:05Yeah man, that died of people must.
- 50:09I don't know what it is. Not very nutritious.
- 50:11No, but it's got Halo protein, apparently because the boy's
- 50:14strong. So they leave the police
- 50:16station. Walter's like, spouting
- 50:18conspiracy shit. I don't know what type of I
- 50:20don't know. They have to entertain
- 50:21themselves some way by driving through here.
- 50:23I love though how it's so obviously green screen from
- 50:27inside, like it's like at the front window view of like what
- 50:31Walter is seeing. It's just like for, you know,
- 50:33just like really bad. I forget which skid it was, but
- 50:37it was on like all that or something and they would be like
- 50:40in a taxi. Or yeah, yeah, I know exactly
- 50:42what you're talking about. Oh my God.
- 50:46So as they're driving, there's the truck of three finger right
- 50:51behind. Tom's towing?
- 50:52Mmhmm. Yeah, and he starts to ram them.
- 50:55What if they had like scraped off where it says towing and
- 50:58just made it? To Tom's toe, they just paint
- 51:01like a little three on there. Three toe, three towing, three
- 51:06fingers toe. Get it?
- 51:10It's Did you limber up before that stretch, Travis?
- 51:14Fingers towing tow. I don't know, I thought.
- 51:19I thought that I got this thing fucking now that would be.
- 51:21We should we should have workshopped this before going on
- 51:24air. I don't even know, like this is
- 51:27all just dawning on me in the moment.
- 51:29Like, wow, they could. Have.
- 51:29Really. There's something there.
- 51:30There's something there. Towing, yeah.
- 51:34Yeah, there's it's there. We need a little more work on
- 51:36it. OK, whatever.
- 51:37So they could have, they could have started their own business
- 51:40of towing three fingers, three toes.
- 51:42That's it. You will get three toes.
- 51:46I'm three toes and I'm retiring. Spiderman says you only get one.
- 51:50We say you get 3. Exactly.
- 51:53That's right. There we go.
- 51:54We got it. So yeah, he starts ramming the
- 51:57bus and and doing so Rams them off of the road.
- 52:02So they go flipping and then what?
- 52:03He does is like, he does gladiator chariot race style
- 52:07where he's like bumping them. So they're like trying to get
- 52:09ahead because they're a fucking prison bus.
- 52:12Yeah, they can't. And then he pulls forward and
- 52:14they're just like cool, we'll just let him go past this, but
- 52:17he's got like an industrial spiel of.
- 52:21Barbed wire so it just like hangs out the back of the truck,
- 52:24wraps around their tire and then it blows out and they go down
- 52:28the side of the. You don't heal.
- 52:29They did a lot of interesting things with that right there,
- 52:32the barbed wire, like it gets them the wreck.
- 52:34And then like, it's probably that result of one of my
- 52:36favorite kills in this movie. It was like an it was an
- 52:38interesting way to do a wreck. I will give it that.
- 52:41I liked it. And the wreck was all practical
- 52:43too. They had to like when they were
- 52:45doing that stunt, like the guardrail.
- 52:47Apparently it was not like loose enough to bust open, so they had
- 52:50to like Weld it and melt. It.
- 52:51I was gonna say in our Appalachia and then I remembered
- 52:54it was shot in Bulgaria. Yeah, yeah.
- 52:57So they had to, like, melt it a little bit to make it more like
- 53:00so it could pop off. So yeah, they've wrecked, I
- 53:03hope. It got fixed again, huh?
- 53:05As a matter of public safety, I hope the guardrail was fixed
- 53:08again after they. Yeah, I would imagine so.
- 53:10Like you would like, sorry Bulgaria, we're fucking your
- 53:12shit up and going back to America and Britain or England
- 53:17or whatever. You're from Britain.
- 53:19We're going back to Edgar Wright's house, where we live.
- 53:21We all, we all. Where we reside.
- 53:24So yeah, they they wrecked the bus.
- 53:27It's like a fucking mess in there.
- 53:28So they all get out. But Walter is with Pine because
- 53:32he really got fucked up in the wreck.
- 53:33Yeah, So Nate has to go back in and retrieve him, and as soon as
- 53:38he pulls him out, the bus explodes.
- 53:41Yeah, but in the meantime, before that, Chavez took the
- 53:44opportunity of all of the confusion.
- 53:46He hits, Nate takes his gun. The third, unnamed bald Co comes
- 53:53out. He points his rifle at him, but
- 53:55a knife gets thrown at him and it's one of the three boys.
- 54:00Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is all.
- 54:01One of the two three boys. It's only, I think it's only
- 54:04three fingers, it's like 3-3 toe, just kind of not very
- 54:07confident. He's still learning.
- 54:09Yeah, he's still learning. Baby.
- 54:10So there's like a little bit of chaos and Chavez is like, we
- 54:14need to get out of here. Where are the keys?
- 54:17And it's like I dropped him in the bus and I also need to go
- 54:20back for Walter. So he makes him go back on the
- 54:22bus. That's it.
- 54:24And he gets Walter and he grabs a set of keys and they get out
- 54:28just in time for the bus to explode.
- 54:29Yes. But it's the wrong keys.
- 54:33They find out after they shuffled a little ways away.
- 54:36He's like, what the fuck is wrong with these keys?
- 54:38And he goes, well, there's three sets of keys, one for the
- 54:40shackles, one for the cage and one for the handcuffs.
- 54:43So, considering. Their hands end up getting free.
- 54:47I guess it was the handcuff keys, but there were so many
- 54:51keys on that key ring. How many copies of the handcuff
- 54:53keys do you have? One for each person, I guess.
- 54:57I don't it. Doesn't make any sense.
- 54:58Yeah, well, Chavez now has control of the situation, yeah.
- 55:03And he's got the gun, so he's forcing.
- 55:06Nate to lead them since he's from the area.
- 55:09Well cuz some of the other prisoners are saying let's just
- 55:10go ahead and kill the fucking CEOs, Yeah why wouldn't you and
- 55:14Chavez cuz he's a criminal mastermind again.
- 55:17I like him as like a secondary villain because he's smart.
- 55:21Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 55:22And he is like no. The sheriff said this guy's from
- 55:25around here. We're gonna use him as a
- 55:26compass. Yeah, and nay only agrees
- 55:29because. He's got a gun pointed to.
- 55:31Him. He's got a gun pointed at him,
- 55:32but he also says he's only gonna agree if they'll keep Walter
- 55:36going too. Yeah, he's gotta help Walter
- 55:39walk, cuz Walter's fucked up. Yeah, he's in a bad way.
- 55:43And then this is where they get jumped at by a small girl.
- 55:48It's Alex from You remember the beginning of the movie where we
- 55:50had another cast? Of yeah.
- 55:52The thing that we thought would be completely irrelevant to the
- 55:55movie is actually relevant. Somehow she has managed to avoid
- 56:00three finger and three toes, which is impressive considering
- 56:03it's been days. Yeah, but she warns them there's
- 56:07a thing out there and it's eating people and yeah, it's a
- 56:10mutant and you can't stop and they're like, you're fucking
- 56:12crazy. Even though, like you know, the
- 56:15third CEO was back there with a knife.
- 56:16Isn't it in his neck? Yeah, yeah.
- 56:19Nobody's like acknowledging that I was like, yeah, there's
- 56:21somebody out here haunting us. He wasn't named.
- 56:24We don't care. Yeah.
- 56:27So she mentioned something about rafts.
- 56:30And so Chavez was like, oh, lead us to the rafts.
- 56:33And she's like, whatever, I haven't slept in 72 hours and I
- 56:38haven't eaten in just as long, but OK.
- 56:41So they walk through the woods, and while they're walking, they
- 56:44find this wrecked armored truck just laying open with all the
- 56:49money in the world in it. Well.
- 56:51They have to go inside the cab to get the keys, which Nate
- 56:54does, and then when he gets there, he sneaks a gun that he
- 56:58found in there too. So they get the key.
- 57:00Well, they don't find the keys. They find the keys, like outside
- 57:02of the truck somewhere, open up the back of it, and it's got a
- 57:05shit ton of money in it. So he says everybody's gotta
- 57:07carry 2 bags, including Walter. And Nate's like Walter can't
- 57:11even walk on his own. He goes he is going to carry his
- 57:13own weight. And Walter, you know, acts like
- 57:17he's cramping up, but he takes that moment because Nate snuck
- 57:19the low gun to Walter and Walter plays his card way too fucking
- 57:24soon because he like turns around and he's like pop pop
- 57:27except it's not working. He had it all perfectly planned.
- 57:30He had his alliance, like you know what they say about Money
- 57:33Chavez. It's green.
- 57:37Except he doesn't actually say that.
- 57:39I forget what he says. It's I know something about.
- 57:41Just as lame. Yeah, but yeah, the gun doesn't
- 57:44have any ammunition. So, so.
- 57:46Chavez hits him with the butt of his rifle and and Walter just
- 57:50keeps mouthing off because Walter knows how this is going
- 57:52anyway. And so Chavez gets a bullet to
- 57:55the brain. He tries to.
- 57:56Or Chavez gives him a. Bullet.
- 57:57He tries to walk with two bags, but he can't fucking move.
- 58:00No, and Travis won't let him not move.
- 58:03So yeah, he just kills him. So while they continue onward,
- 58:09they managed to narrowly avoid a trap, but that because the trap
- 58:15didn't work and because Three Toe tried so hard to set it up.
- 58:19He worked so hard. He worked all fucking day on
- 58:21that. He was right there willing to
- 58:22watch. Yes, he wanted to see it and it
- 58:24didn't work out and he was so mad, so he jumped out and
- 58:27attacks. But it's, you know, like.
- 58:30Eight on one at this point, I think.
- 58:32And he's like a little child, yeah.
- 58:34So they overpower him super easily.
- 58:36Yeah, and they're like, he's got three toes.
- 58:38Wonder if he's related to that guy with three fingers.
- 58:40And Alex was talking about, they're like, hold on, got an
- 58:43idea and then we cut away to the sound of like.
- 58:47Dude, it's fucked up. Like they, like, stab him a
- 58:49couple of times first and then they pin him down and yeah, like
- 58:52they just chop off his fucking head.
- 58:54Yeah, like it's brutal. Chavez is fucking terrifying.
- 58:57Yes, yeah. So they get to the rafts and
- 59:02they're like, pissed that the rafts are so small.
- 59:05And she's like, yeah, there were four of us.
- 59:08I don't know what you guys are complaining about.
- 59:09We fit all of our camping equipment in these rafts.
- 59:12You couldn't even see them. Yeah, it's like got a secret.
- 59:14Compiler like inflatable rafts too, which we don't see from
- 59:17like the aerial shot at the beginning of the movie.
- 59:19But these are inflatable rafts, yeah, that have been fine
- 59:22sitting here for the past few days and so they.
- 59:25They're arguing about it and Chavez is like, look, we're just
- 59:27gonna put the money in it and set it to float and we'll follow
- 59:30it upstream. That's a terrible idea.
- 59:32It would be terrible. They would lose track of it.
- 59:34It would be gone. It would just disappear.
- 59:37I don't know what plan Chavez had.
- 59:39He clearly had something else in mind, cuz I refuse to believe
- 59:41that he would just set it afloat like that.
- 59:43I think he would probably have like tried to jump in or
- 59:45something. I don't know you're.
- 59:46Probably right, yeah. But that's what his suggestion
- 59:51is. And Nate.
- 59:53Stabs the rafts, so they deflate.
- 59:56He goes. Why the fuck did you do that?
- 59:57He goes. Oh, because you still need me to
- 59:59help you carry money now. Boom.
- 1:00:02Nate is Nate's A. Little bit smart, too.
- 1:00:04He didn't get into law school on good looks and trust funds
- 1:00:08alone. He's a bold boy.
- 1:00:10He, like Travis, beats the shit out of him too, and then he
- 1:00:13forces him to just take the lead again.
- 1:00:16Meanwhile, 3 finger finds his boy's head and they have it like
- 1:00:20pinned on the spike. Did you feel a little bit sad
- 1:00:23for Three Finger? I did a little bit like he like
- 1:00:25lets out like an actual scream of sorrow.
- 1:00:27Even a bad guy like crying like that, seeing their child's head
- 1:00:32on a spike like you feel a little bad.
- 1:00:35I feel bad for him, but like I feel more.
- 1:00:37Bad for three toe look. What's even weird about this is
- 1:00:40like 5 seconds later, like we get three finger like come back
- 1:00:44on screen and he's just like good good.
- 1:00:47Fucking like, laughing like, this is fun guys, right?
- 1:00:49We're all having a good time. Here, you guys really got me,
- 1:00:52yeah. So they can hear him screaming
- 1:00:56from where they are, like, well, I guess he found the boy.
- 1:00:58He got the message he won't be fucking with us anymore.
- 1:01:01Meanwhile, the deputy calls the sheriff saying there's a siding
- 1:01:04of a truck, which the sheriff's like.
- 1:01:07All right, I'll go check it out. What I don't it's just a tow
- 1:01:10truck. It's just pulled on the side of
- 1:01:12the road. I guess that that might be
- 1:01:13concerning, but it's fucking like.
- 1:01:16Appalachia man, people do that. Maybe he's hunting, you know
- 1:01:19what I mean? Maybe him and his girl wanting
- 1:01:21to get a little busy. And maybe your Auntie Rd.
- 1:01:24It's dark, we're not being publicly indecent if nobody
- 1:01:26sees. Yeah, right.
- 1:01:28Yeah. So anyway, they continue walking
- 1:01:32and this time they do troop a trap and.
- 1:01:37One of them's killed and it's Willie, and it's completely
- 1:01:39inconsequential to the plot. Yeah, it just like the
- 1:01:42undercover cop now has his face sliced off.
- 1:01:45Yeah. And because they're also
- 1:01:47shackled together, they cut him off at the knees so they don't
- 1:01:51have to drag his body. Yeah, that's.
- 1:01:52I do like that they acknowledge that that would be a problem.
- 1:01:56Yeah, right. Instead of like dragging the
- 1:01:57body around, like that's a lot of weight that you have to carry
- 1:01:59around. Although I would have loved to
- 1:02:01see that like with some like. Benny Hill type music or
- 1:02:05something? Yeah, yeah, it.
- 1:02:06Could have been. Funny, it cuts back to the cops
- 1:02:11at the station. Man, they got a bad hunch about
- 1:02:14this truck being pulled. Over.
- 1:02:15Yeah, and sheriff's like. Have you heard from Nate yet?
- 1:02:19Where'd that bone go? She's like, no, Do you just want
- 1:02:21to call, like, literally anybody and see if they've arrived?
- 1:02:24He goes, no, no, no, Let's just say what?
- 1:02:26I got a bad feeling. Yeah.
- 1:02:28I mean, like, cops use their instincts sometimes, he goes.
- 1:02:31Sure you skirt. No.
- 1:02:37So yeah, the group out in the woods finds a cabin.
- 1:02:44Hmm. Familiar cabin, perhaps?
- 1:02:45We've seen this before. While they're there, they use a
- 1:02:48crowbar to loosen their chains. This is not at all how it would
- 1:02:51work. It wouldn't be as simple as just
- 1:02:53like you stick your crowbar in there, boom, my shackles are
- 1:02:55too. The crowbar is basically like a
- 1:02:57key. Yeah, you're it's literally
- 1:02:59video game logic right now. Ah, crowbar.
- 1:03:03I'm thinking of like it's like one of those hotel keys where
- 1:03:06you just like tap the card against.
- 1:03:07The door and just like. There we go, alright.
- 1:03:10Yeah, no cuz like if you were actually to like try and use a
- 1:03:13crowbar to wedge a shackle open, it would fucking hurt cuz it
- 1:03:16would hurt you. You'd have to like yeah, you'd
- 1:03:17have to like wedge it in there and like pry it apart.
- 1:03:20Like it's not a simple thing. It's gonna fucking hurt and it's
- 1:03:24gonna take time. But they are all out instantly.
- 1:03:27Yeah, so they eventually find the tow truck.
- 1:03:31Well, and so they're all arguing too.
- 1:03:34So, like, now that we're apart, should we just, like split apart
- 1:03:37and the office is like, no, I want your fucking money.
- 1:03:40And they're like, well, why should we?
- 1:03:41Blah blah blah. And he goes, OK, well, because
- 1:03:43you're all fugitives right now and I've got a safe house.
- 1:03:46So come with me, Give me one bag of the money that you're each
- 1:03:51carrying. You can keep the other bag.
- 1:03:54And I'll keep you safe. It's not a bad deal.
- 1:03:56It's not considering. Like, cuz at first I was like,
- 1:03:58why would they agree to that? And then he makes the point
- 1:04:00about they're all being fugitives.
- 1:04:01And I was like, that's true. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:04:04Yeah. So yeah, they all agree to do
- 1:04:07that. And yeah, so they start walking,
- 1:04:09they find the truck and they tell Crawford to go unlock it
- 1:04:15and get it running because he's the car thief.
- 1:04:17He's the carjacker around here. While they're walking, though.
- 1:04:21Yeah. Miss something.
- 1:04:22Soldier boy comes up to Nate and it's like, so that's the third
- 1:04:26time we've passed that tree. Does Chavez know that you're
- 1:04:29dicking him? Around.
- 1:04:29Oh yeah. He's gonna murder you soon.
- 1:04:32Yeah, he's just like leading them in circles.
- 1:04:34And Nate's like, I blindly trust you.
- 1:04:36So I'm going to go ahead and tell you what my plan is.
- 1:04:38We're running down the clock until, you know, the law
- 1:04:41realizes that you all are missing.
- 1:04:44And then Alex is like, I'm here too, guys.
- 1:04:47Yeah, it's like, well, the character I would have been
- 1:04:48talking to this about is dead, so I'm gonna start talking to.
- 1:04:51You now the character I should have been talking to.
- 1:04:53And it's also like, is it a little bit weird that they
- 1:04:56killed under the character, like one of the people of color and
- 1:04:59favor for some white dude that didn't have as much relevance to
- 1:05:01the plot at the beginning? Yeah, it's possible.
- 1:05:04This not a good. Look, and it's also really
- 1:05:06shitty, like Alex is like, and I'm here to you guys.
- 1:05:09Remember I was like the first person in this movie.
- 1:05:11I'm supposed to be one of the final girls here.
- 1:05:13Movie does not pass the Bechdel test.
- 1:05:15No, I don't think any of Declan O'Brien's movies passed the
- 1:05:19Bechdel test. Probably not, no.
- 1:05:22Well, he didn't write this one. I saw some discussion online for
- 1:05:25somebody was like, what's the Bechdel test?
- 1:05:27And somebody else was like, Oh well, you have to have to name
- 1:05:30female characters and they have to have a conversation.
- 1:05:34And usually about something other than their love life, I
- 1:05:36think is the third rule. It's it's like 3 rules.
- 1:05:39It's super simple. And somebody's like, well that's
- 1:05:42a really low bar And somebody else was like, yeah, that's the
- 1:05:45point. A lot of fucking movies don't
- 1:05:48pass the test. Yeah, you.
- 1:05:49Would be surprised, so OK, so he goes over there.
- 1:05:54Yeah, Crawford's like, I don't know that I wanna go near this
- 1:05:57truck, cuz what if it's booby trapped and they're like, well,
- 1:05:59you like boobies? So go.
- 1:06:01But you know, that got me thinking too.
- 1:06:02I was thinking about the term booby trap and why is it called
- 1:06:05a booby trap? Let's look it up, shall we?
- 1:06:07Let's do it. All right.
- 1:06:08Booby trap. OK, so when you type in, why is
- 1:06:11it called a Bo? The first thing that pops up is
- 1:06:14why is it called a Boston Butt? And then is it?
- 1:06:16Why is it called a booby trap? So butts and boobs all right.
- 1:06:20In the late 17th century, hungry sailors would set a trap for a
- 1:06:24seabird known as a booby. OK.
- 1:06:27The term booby trap was literally a trap for a booby.
- 1:06:30However, it does evolve to mean a harmful device designed to be
- 1:06:32triggered by its unsuspecting victim, Okay.
- 1:06:36Well, there we go. I thought it was actually gonna
- 1:06:37be about boobies, but I guess we can all win.
- 1:06:40Why aren't brows called booby traps?
- 1:06:43That's a fantastic question. I don't know.
- 1:06:45I don't know if we'll ever know why.
- 1:06:49All right, so he syncs up and as soon as he gets there he like is
- 1:06:52drawn to the barbed wire for some reason.
- 1:06:55And no, like, it's like there is like barbed wire on there.
- 1:06:58I don't know why he didn't notice the coil of barbed wire.
- 1:07:01Well, I'm not. I'm being not real.
- 1:07:03But like, he, like, walks in the back of it instead of towards
- 1:07:06the driver's side of the truck. Yeah, if you're worried about
- 1:07:09being a trap, why would you go directly to like where you have
- 1:07:13the least like range of vision? You know what I mean?
- 1:07:16Yeah, he's walking straight there.
- 1:07:18I don't understand it, but this is like my favorite kill in the
- 1:07:21movie. He like, goes over there and
- 1:07:23three fingers is actually in the truck and he flips the switch
- 1:07:27and it causes the toe thing to turn on and the coils of barbed
- 1:07:32wire just kind of like constrict him.
- 1:07:35And then it picks him up and then he just fucking drives away
- 1:07:38with them. And then everybody's like,
- 1:07:40alright, bye Crawford. Thank God we got rid of that
- 1:07:43guy. Like they actually.
- 1:07:45Secretly off to the side, Chavez made a deal with Three Finger
- 1:07:49and I was like, look, we can continue hunting back and forth,
- 1:07:52but Crawford, it's not going to be any fun for you to toy with.
- 1:07:55Yeah, how about you do us both a favor?
- 1:07:57Let's get him out quick. Well, I mean right here too.
- 1:07:59He's like, well, they got, they got their payback, like that's
- 1:08:01him. He's gone like we killed his boy
- 1:08:03and they killed our boy, so. There we go, yeah.
- 1:08:06And we see like 3 finger driving down the road and he just like
- 1:08:10lowers down the toe things. So Crawford's just like God.
- 1:08:13Damn dude, it's fucking gnarly. Awful, even for creep like
- 1:08:16Crawford. Yeah, they actually had him
- 1:08:19strung up on that thing and drove off with them too.
- 1:08:21Like it was fucking wild to watch.
- 1:08:25They have a brief stop because they're all getting tired and
- 1:08:28they're all having to carry like additional money now.
- 1:08:32And Floyd starts being gross to Alex and she beats him up.
- 1:08:36Yeah, Which I'm surprised that doesn't become more of a thing,
- 1:08:38because a Alex can hold her fucking own.
- 1:08:41She's survived out here longer than half of this group.
- 1:08:45All of them all together, yeah. And also she just beat up one of
- 1:08:49the like, heads of a prison gang.
- 1:08:52Yeah, the fucking giant dude. This guy's like a fucking tower.
- 1:08:55He's huge. But no, we're gonna reduce her
- 1:08:57to a helpless victim at the end. Yeah.
- 1:09:00Yeah, it's a little bit unfortunate.
- 1:09:01So they go back to walk. This is so much of this movie is
- 1:09:05like, we're walking. We're gonna stop walking and
- 1:09:07talk. We're gonna walk and talk.
- 1:09:08We're gonna stop again. We're gonna split up.
- 1:09:10We're gonna come back together. That's what the next 30 minutes
- 1:09:13of this movie is. Pretty much.
- 1:09:15So Nate is planning to lead them to the Watchtower where they
- 1:09:19have a phone and you know, they'll be able to contact help
- 1:09:22there. But really what he's planning to
- 1:09:23do, because it's really small up there and it's really narrow,
- 1:09:26it's gonna climb up first and get in there.
- 1:09:28There's a gun stashed away, so he's gonna.
- 1:09:30Grab the gun and shoot Chavez real quick.
- 1:09:33But. That it they get there and it's
- 1:09:35all burned. Down Well, that hasn't.
- 1:09:37That hasn't happened yet, but that's what his plan is.
- 1:09:40Floyd and Chavez end up having this big prison fight and Chavez
- 1:09:43fucking wins. He.
- 1:09:44Holds the fight. Shit, he fucks.
- 1:09:45Him up by a lot. Like, yeah, it's a big beating.
- 1:09:49Yeah, and they're just like, we're gonna like he doesn't
- 1:09:52actually kill Floyd, but like, you know, he left him for dead
- 1:09:55and it would have made sense. I mean, he died.
- 1:09:57He like. He fucks him up.
- 1:09:58This creates enough of a distraction for Alex and Nate to
- 1:10:02run away. Meanwhile, Brandon, just like,
- 1:10:04stops to. Just like.
- 1:10:06Catch. He's like, all right, I'll just
- 1:10:08watch this shit play out. This is entertaining.
- 1:10:10Yeah. Meanwhile, the sheriff has found
- 1:10:12the bus and called in the crash. Yeah.
- 1:10:15So after the fight, Chavez and Brandon go to look for Alex and
- 1:10:20Nate. Brandon negotiates for a gun.
- 1:10:25Just saying like you'll still have two.
- 1:10:26I'll just have one and it'll be good.
- 1:10:28Because if the if that guy comes back for us, you know it's both
- 1:10:31of us shooting. I love his rational.
- 1:10:33I was like you know what the he has?
- 1:10:35The guy has like a really like hear him speak naturally, like
- 1:10:38nice British accent, but like here like he has like that
- 1:10:41country accent where it sounds like his nose is always stopped
- 1:10:43up. Hey.
- 1:10:45Honestly, like, listen to some of them trying to do a country
- 1:10:47accent. It's probably like listen to us
- 1:10:49trying to do a British accent. Yeah, probably.
- 1:10:50They probably feel the same way. Way it's like you know like 2
- 1:10:53guns against them is better than one gun against them and Chavez
- 1:10:57is like shit that math checks out.
- 1:10:58It's like I'm not a mathematician, but I do believe
- 1:11:01you're correct. I'm a drug empire ward, but I
- 1:11:04don't know how to do that. So yeah, you're right.
- 1:11:07OK, so when they get to the, that's when they do get to the
- 1:11:11watchtower because they ambush them right near it.
- 1:11:15And he's like, we're almost at the watchtower and Chavez, like,
- 1:11:17I know you've been dicking us around for a little bit.
- 1:11:21He's like, no, seriously, just give us a couple more minutes
- 1:11:24and I'll show you. But they get to the watchtower
- 1:11:26and it's all burnt down. It's burnt down from the first
- 1:11:28movie, by the way. Yeah, yeah, I'm glad that they
- 1:11:30kept that down, cuz when they kept saying the Watchtower, I
- 1:11:32was like. That canonically burned down,
- 1:11:35yeah, Years ago. Six years ago, yeah.
- 1:11:39Yeah, he's cool. So I don't expect this movie to
- 1:11:44have, like, care too much about its own Canon, but that was
- 1:11:46like, a major point. So it was nice for that to have
- 1:11:50Carrie over here. Yeah, so Travis is fed up with
- 1:11:52Nate at this point, so he's about to kill him.
- 1:11:53But as soon as he's about to pull the trigger, Leon.
- 1:11:57Yeah, Leon comes up and bites his arm, just fucks him up.
- 1:12:01So. They get the guns back and they
- 1:12:04start pointing at Matt Chavez. Yeah.
- 1:12:06And then Alex, like, we need to go.
- 1:12:07There's a hillbilly here and Sheriff goes Hill hillbilly.
- 1:12:12That can't. I was like, that can't be not in
- 1:12:15my holler. I ain't no hillbillies and these
- 1:12:18here hills, no. And then?
- 1:12:22The he gets killed because he's like there to save the day and
- 1:12:25three fingers drops a spike on him and then.
- 1:12:29He's he becomes a Sheriff Kebab. Yeah, it's Floyd is awake and
- 1:12:34conscious again and he finds where Chavez had worth of money.
- 1:12:37Yeah, by the way, at some point they all, like, stashed the
- 1:12:40money somewhere so they could move faster.
- 1:12:41Yeah, Floyd concussed. Near death, are you?
- 1:12:46Very bloody, yeah. Very bloody.
- 1:12:48He's injured, missing. Some up to all of his teeth,
- 1:12:53yes, finds the stash of money and he's like ha ha ha ha.
- 1:12:57And so he takes all of the money and he walks on what appear to
- 1:13:00be broken bones, according to the closed caption.
- 1:13:02Yes, he's. Like bones crunching.
- 1:13:05He's like Walter was a piece of shit.
- 1:13:06He totally could have walked with this money if he wanted.
- 1:13:08Yeah, just didn't try hard enough.
- 1:13:10He didn't want it. Didn't want it.
- 1:13:12Didn't want it. Didn't want it.
- 1:13:14So now we get what I'm gonna imagine is the state police.
- 1:13:18No, I think that's the Marshals. the US Marshals, yeah, they're
- 1:13:22saying that they got a boy in there that they need to go get.
- 1:13:24Yeah, they're forming a search group for them now.
- 1:13:26So everybody's out looking for them.
- 1:13:27Like they've been wondering, cuz they've been on like a time
- 1:13:30crunch because like they're gonna know that we didn't arrive
- 1:13:33at the destination. Yeah, that's why Nate was like.
- 1:13:36Trying to like, drag out time because he knew the cops would
- 1:13:39cop when they didn't show up to the prison on time, right?
- 1:13:41They tried to find some money missing.
- 1:13:44Yeah, and he goes to look for. He's like that piece of shit
- 1:13:48Floyd woke up. So he goes.
- 1:13:50He tells Brandon to watch the other two and he goes to find
- 1:13:54Floyd. Three Finger has also found
- 1:13:55Floyd, and he throws A Molotov cocktail at Floyd.
- 1:13:58Now here's the thing, we saw Three Finger at his cabin with
- 1:14:02this case of bottles and rags stuffed into them.
- 1:14:06And there was a very dumb part of my brain for a second that
- 1:14:09was just like, does he drink Molotov cocktails?
- 1:14:12Like, it tracked for me. Like he's a cannibal.
- 1:14:15Like, okay. It makes sense that his drink
- 1:14:16would also be gross, like gasoline.
- 1:14:18Yeah, like, I don't know. Why not?
- 1:14:21Yeah, I mean, sure. He's also like making all kinds
- 1:14:24of like Crawford Stew. Stuff like that.
- 1:14:27He's making food from all the boys he's been hunting.
- 1:14:29He's he got over his son's death very quickly.
- 1:14:32Yeah, I mean, he put the head on the spike in his mental mantle.
- 1:14:37His mantle, him. Mantle him, you know, much like
- 1:14:41a baby boy. Jason with Pamela.
- 1:14:44Yeah, true. Making a little, uh, Three Toes
- 1:14:46Shrine. Mmhmm.
- 1:14:48But you don't know how many toes he has.
- 1:14:49And death he can have all the toes he wants, just.
- 1:14:52Get three more toes from on him like a crown.
- 1:14:57So yeah, so he goes full Bortles on him, throws the and catches
- 1:15:02Floyd and the money on fire. And Chavez is not cool with
- 1:15:06that. No.
- 1:15:07So he goes chasing after three finger.
- 1:15:09Yeah, so they get to the road, the truck is there, and Chavez
- 1:15:16gives up Alex and is ready to shoot Nate, but Brandon stops
- 1:15:25him. With like a smack to the head.
- 1:15:27Yeah, cuz they still need him, cuz he's still useful because he
- 1:15:30knows the area, all that shit. So yeah, yeah, Three finger
- 1:15:34takes Alex back to her or his cabin.
- 1:15:37Yeah, So while Chavez is out, Brandon agrees that he's gonna
- 1:15:40go, you know, go to town, just try to, you know, get out of
- 1:15:44here basically. And Nate is gonna go get Alex,
- 1:15:48and Leon has been with them, so Leon's gonna go.
- 1:15:51So Alex is fighting still. Like she's putting up a fucking
- 1:15:57fight with three finger lasting longer than anybody else has so
- 1:16:00far. Yeah, she breaks free and almost
- 1:16:02makes it out, but then yeah, he's three finger you can't.
- 1:16:04You can't beat him that easily. Yeah, so she gets tied up and we
- 1:16:07find Deputy Alley there too. Naked for some reason.
- 1:16:12It just feels like it's adding insult to injury.
- 1:16:15Yeah, it. Was really weird just because
- 1:16:17she, like, was there for a second and then yeah, last we
- 1:16:19saw her and then now she's like, dying.
- 1:16:22Yeah, it's not cool. Chavez and Three Finger have a
- 1:16:26fight because there's what is it?
- 1:16:29We hear something on the radio or something overhead.
- 1:16:32We hear something that alerts everybody.
- 1:16:34That stuff's happening. So Three Finger goes out
- 1:16:38hunting, he runs into Chavez and they fight and Three Finger wins
- 1:16:42that fight. Yeah, there's like a there's a
- 1:16:43chopper that's flying over. So they know.
- 1:16:45Yeah, And they want to like make.
- 1:16:47This like a big scene because like like Travis, like we've
- 1:16:50shown him, he's like super competent, he's beating
- 1:16:52everybody. Yeah, that's like stood up to
- 1:16:54him. So they didn't want three finger
- 1:16:55to just like kill him and be done with him.
- 1:16:57Like they wanted it to be a showdown.
- 1:16:58Which makes sense. And honestly, I really respect
- 1:17:01that. Again, I like a compelling
- 1:17:02secondary villain. It's a good fight too.
- 1:17:05Like they actually like he almost gets three finger.
- 1:17:08But then like 3 finger like slices his arm with a little
- 1:17:11sickle and cuts off his pinky and he's like ohh we're evenly
- 1:17:14matched and then not really cuz three finger just straight up.
- 1:17:17Well, we already established that Chavez is not a
- 1:17:19mathematician. No, he's confused by guns
- 1:17:22immediately. Yeah, he's like, ideal in drugs,
- 1:17:24not guns. I don't know.
- 1:17:25Yeah. Yeah, so three finger goats back
- 1:17:29to the cabin just as Nate and Alex are trying to leave, so
- 1:17:31they fight and. Leon goes in to try and save the
- 1:17:35day and he gets killed. Yeah, I appreciate that.
- 1:17:39They had the decency to do it off screen, so you don't have to
- 1:17:42see that. I just wish that they didn't do
- 1:17:44it at all though. Like Leon fucking could have
- 1:17:46saved the day and just let it be that, yeah?
- 1:17:48Let him, like, guide Alex back to town or something.
- 1:17:51Yeah, well. Alex ends up stabbing Leon with
- 1:17:55the spike that his son's head or not No on three finger with the
- 1:18:00spike that three toes head is on.
- 1:18:03And I think he's dead. So they started to drive away in
- 1:18:04his tow truck. But Three Finger has like clung
- 1:18:08on and he's like attacking them through the truck window.
- 1:18:11Allah, Michael Myers. Halloween forward?
- 1:18:14Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
- 1:18:16So they end up crashing and Brandon appears and so they he
- 1:18:22grabs a hook. Allah, I know what you did last
- 1:18:25year and like hooks him through the.
- 1:18:26Face right through the chin, all the way through the.
- 1:18:29Simple. It's a very cool kill.
- 1:18:31And so Nate goes, You really didn't kill that bartender, did
- 1:18:34you? And Brand.
- 1:18:36And Nate is not looking Brandon in the face at all.
- 1:18:39The brainer goes Nah. Yeah.
- 1:18:42I am. Innocent.
- 1:18:44I'm innocent. It's like, all right, you didn't
- 1:18:46make it. Cops are gonna look for.
- 1:18:49A dead fugitive, yeah. Which that's not true.
- 1:18:51I feel like they like they might not put a ton of effort into it,
- 1:18:54but I do think feel like they would do.
- 1:18:56For his body. Yeah.
- 1:18:57And before, by the way, Brandon made a comment and they saying
- 1:19:01never trust a con so should be heating his own heating what
- 1:19:06Brandon had told him before. Well, Brandon also tried to say
- 1:19:09he's not like he's convicted, but he's not a con.
- 1:19:12He exactly never trusts him exactly.
- 1:19:15So yeah, the cops come, they get Nate and Alex, and then we cut
- 1:19:18to. Somewhat later, but it can't be
- 1:19:21too later because Nate still has like marks on his face.
- 1:19:25Yeah, he's banged up. Yeah, he's clean, but he's still
- 1:19:27hurt. Yeah.
- 1:19:28And he's back at the armored truck and he's quoting something
- 1:19:31Walter said earlier about retiring to Miami and getting
- 1:19:34loads of pussy. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:19:36Because that's where he's wanting to live now.
- 1:19:37He's like, alright, I'm gonna fucking do that.
- 1:19:39I didn't want to say it with him there, but.
- 1:19:40Yeah, that's like, I only chose law because it's, you know, you
- 1:19:44make money. I don't.
- 1:19:45I'm not passionate about it. Yeah.
- 1:19:47And as he's staring at that money, an arrow comes through
- 1:19:50his chest and you're like shit. Three fingers, not dead.
- 1:19:53But when his body falls, it's Brandon.
- 1:19:55Brandon. Oh, my goodness.
- 1:19:56And he's like, like I said, never trusted Con.
- 1:19:59And I feel like Brandon could have come in and taken that
- 1:20:01money before Nate got there, you know what I mean?
- 1:20:03Yeah, I know. He wanted him to, like, wait for
- 1:20:05him or something. Yeah, like.
- 1:20:07Wow, like you're really shitty, dude.
- 1:20:09But then even then, like right behind him.
- 1:20:11It's 33 fingers, so it's like it actually isn't dead.
- 1:20:14Like a cue formed, like waiting for in like the next one he
- 1:20:17feels like, OK, he got his skill Or in three fingers like it's my
- 1:20:20my turn now. And he has like a he's got a
- 1:20:23cool weapon here that we didn't see before.
- 1:20:24It's like a pole with like all kinds of blades attached to it.
- 1:20:27The tip of it like it's fucked up and it's already bloody.
- 1:20:29So he's about to fuck some shit up.
- 1:20:31Ohh. Yeah, that's it.
- 1:20:33And that is how it ends, baby. So.
- 1:20:38Do you have any change in rating after talking about it?
- 1:20:41No. No.
- 1:20:43OK. So what was it again, 4/4?
- 1:20:45Yeah. All right, I'm keep in mind 675,
- 1:20:48cuz I I do think it's not a bad movie.
- 1:20:52I don't think. And I think it's fun, like it's
- 1:20:54interesting, it's different from the others.
- 1:20:57I just, I don't know. I just feel like there's so much
- 1:21:00like, I feel like I've seen this done and seen it done better,
- 1:21:03you know, like various bits of the story elements.
- 1:21:06OK. And you put them all together,
- 1:21:10but they're all like half finished.
- 1:21:11That's why I say it feels kind of AI almost.
- 1:21:15I go in with these, especially when I'm over like it's straight
- 1:21:18to DVD. Like you gotta like adjust your
- 1:21:21expectations and then like watching this for a made for
- 1:21:24like DVD movie, I think it's pretty solid.
- 1:21:27It gets a solid entry in the series.
- 1:21:28It's not too. With adjusted expectations
- 1:21:31though. OK, well that's my.
- 1:21:34Take on it though, I I don't know.
- 1:21:35I just have. I have more fun with this than
- 1:21:37what I guess most people. Okay.
- 1:21:38It's like a couple weeks ago when we watched Dark Knight of
- 1:21:40the Scarecrow and they kept saying, who all knows that we
- 1:21:43killed? What's his face?
- 1:21:44And I was like, fucking everybody.
- 1:21:46Everybody in town was at the trial, but they kept acting like
- 1:21:49that. That's why they were being
- 1:21:51targeted, which it is. But like, you know, it wasn't a
- 1:21:54secret. The whole town of suspects.
- 1:21:57But even that I had more fun with than this because at least
- 1:22:00even though it's a stupid plot line like it carries throughout
- 1:22:03the movie, whereas this picks up things and drops them and it
- 1:22:06just keeps forgetting about things that it put in.
- 1:22:09It could be done better, yeah. But I like it.
- 1:22:12It's one of those keep it simple stupid.
- 1:22:14You know what I mean, right? I get you.
- 1:22:17Keep it simple and stupid. That's how I like.
- 1:22:20Your long term movies, yeah. Yeah, Okay.
- 1:22:22I want hooting. I want hollering.
- 1:22:24I don't wanna think too much about it.
- 1:22:25I don't have to remember. Yeah.
- 1:22:27Wasn't there an undercover US Marshall?
- 1:22:29I don't wanna think about that. Yeah, it could be better.
- 1:22:32Yeah, all right. Who did you relate to?
- 1:22:37Well, I'm gonna relate to, I guess, Nate, with the whole
- 1:22:43being from the holler type deal, going back home and talking to
- 1:22:47the people. You know what I mean?
- 1:22:48Like I I kind of related to that whole exchange of him and the
- 1:22:52sheriff. I'm going to relate to Nate, but
- 1:22:56mostly because of the whole, like putting myself through
- 1:22:58school and grad school, you know, I'm just working real hard
- 1:23:03to get scholarships and trying to graduate debt free and, you
- 1:23:07know, make the most out of life that I can and I have no hopes
- 1:23:11for retiring that. That's the dream our generation
- 1:23:13gave up on. But you don't want to go to
- 1:23:15Florida and be surrounded by pussy either.
- 1:23:20And this in this current state, I don't think I want to go to
- 1:23:24Florida at all right now. No, I don't either.
- 1:23:27Yeah, it's not exactly a place I would like to travel to.
- 1:23:30Sorry for our people from Florida.
- 1:23:32It's nothing against you, it's more against them.
- 1:23:35No, there's plenty of fantastic people from.
- 1:23:36Florida, yeah. Yeah, Okay.
- 1:23:38You guys are the New Jersey of the South, but what the worst
- 1:23:42governor right now? Yeah.
- 1:23:45What did the Talia think of this one?
- 1:23:47Let's see. So Talia, think about this.
- 1:23:49Maybe she was in the bedroom for the first half, she came out for
- 1:23:54dinner halfway through, and then she slept through the
- 1:23:57second-half. So I think Talia is also very
- 1:24:00mad on it, like me. OK, I think she's gonna give it
- 1:24:043. For three.
- 1:24:05Yeah, 3 paws. OK3 paws if.
- 1:24:08She was there. If she was their dog, she'd be
- 1:24:103. Yeah.
- 1:24:12That would be their dog, definitely.
- 1:24:14Did Zoe watch? Zoe showed up.
- 1:24:16She came in excited because we were watching a wrong turn.
- 1:24:18Movie. Yeah, No.
- 1:24:19She ran in. She cuddled on the couch for a
- 1:24:21little bit. She went to the kitchen.
- 1:24:23They got very ansy for dinner. Time.
- 1:24:25Because we had to feed them halfway through.
- 1:24:27Once they got fed, she came back and was on the couch the rest of
- 1:24:29the time. So Zoe did indeed watch this.
- 1:24:31Yeah, she's a wrong Turn fan. Well, she definitely cheered for
- 1:24:34three finger and three Toe, cuz they're hunters.
- 1:24:36And they're hungry, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:24:39Okay. Do we have a dream sequel?
- 1:24:44I guess, let's see. Do you wanna have a sequel to
- 1:24:47these characters or do you wanna like just what you would want
- 1:24:51from a wrong term movie? What I would want.
- 1:24:53OK, well, I feel like we've done that with the 1st.
- 1:24:56Couple, Yeah. OK, let's do one with these
- 1:24:57characters. Like if we do like a like a
- 1:25:00return to these guys here. OK, so the only one that's
- 1:25:02canonically still alive is Alex. Yeah.
- 1:25:06So maybe she. Let's see.
- 1:25:11Well, we don't see Brandon. Die.
- 1:25:13Yeah, but we hear it off screen. We hear him get attacked.
- 1:25:17Okay, okay. So let's say maybe she becomes
- 1:25:21like a counselor for people like in the hospital that have been,
- 1:25:27like, attacked or whatever. Like they're, you know, dealing
- 1:25:30with like. Debilitating injuries or
- 1:25:33deforming injuries. And so cuz like she's been
- 1:25:36through all of this, she wants to do something where she helps
- 1:25:38people, right? And it could be like a VA which
- 1:25:44would bring Brandon into. The mix brings Brandon into it,
- 1:25:46so he's like I'm getting released soon and he's like and
- 1:25:51I'm getting revenge and she's like kept me in.
- 1:25:54Yeah, or and they can like have like old vets.
- 1:25:58Getting in the woods, too. Yeah, they're like hunting.
- 1:26:01Yeah, like. Killing soldiering can.
- 1:26:03Be like Vietnam. People where like, shit, I've
- 1:26:05been in the jungle. I know what to do here.
- 1:26:07Yeah, dude, that would be sweet. Get some of those people.
- 1:26:10Fuck yeah, dude, that would be a good Wrong Turn movie.
- 1:26:13Some of the vets were in a unit with the ex Marine in Part 2.
- 1:26:20Yes, they want revenge for him. That's why they agree.
- 1:26:23And it's not just because they want to go like hunting and
- 1:26:25killing like they want revenge. This is a solid premise, right?
- 1:26:28It ties in too. Also, yes.
- 1:26:30Fuck, yeah. All right, I'm.
- 1:26:32I'm down with this. Damn.
- 1:26:34Declan, call us up, OK? We've.
- 1:26:39Already got our tag line? Yeah, so we're got.
- 1:26:41Our tag line. All right, so we got reviews.
- 1:26:45OK. So.
- 1:26:48I pulled one. I wasn't sure since you didn't
- 1:26:52remember this one where you were on it, so I got one that was.
- 1:26:56To be clear, it's not that I don't remember what happens in
- 1:27:01this movie. I mean, I don't remember a lot
- 1:27:03of the details, but I know it's the prisoner one.
- 1:27:05I just when I line up the. Wrong turn movies.
- 1:27:08I forget that this one is in there.
- 1:27:10And so I get through all six and I'm like, I've got five, what's
- 1:27:14the six? What's number six?
- 1:27:15And I'm like, oh, OK. Well, that's all that I knew
- 1:27:17that you thought, like, that's the only feelings that I heard
- 1:27:20from you about this movie. So I didn't know what that
- 1:27:22meant. And to me that means bad.
- 1:27:24So I went with one that's kind of mid, I think.
- 1:27:27You're still correct, though I I don't feel favorably about this
- 1:27:30movie. No, right?
- 1:27:31Well, you might agree with this person, because I don't think
- 1:27:32this person really cares for it either.
- 1:27:35All right, so they rate it on IMDb, they say Wrong Turn 3 is a
- 1:27:39direct to video release, says without question one of the
- 1:27:41worst horror films that you're gonna see from this era, and
- 1:27:44there's no doubt that it's a major step down from the
- 1:27:46previous two installments. If you ever want to show someone
- 1:27:50what a cheap wannabe attempt to rip off fans is, then here would
- 1:27:55be the perfect example. Not only are we given an
- 1:27:59incredibly stupid plot full of annoying, worthless characters,
- 1:28:02but we're also given some of the cheapest looking special effects
- 1:28:05that you'll ever see. Whereas the first wrong turn
- 1:28:08went for suspense and the second one went for over the top core,
- 1:28:11this one here is just an awful attempt at making money.
- 1:28:14There are countless problems with this, but we'll start with
- 1:28:17the CGI effects. To say they're awful would be
- 1:28:19putting it too kindly, because these things are among the worst
- 1:28:22you're going to ever see. Yes, there's a lot of violence
- 1:28:25in gore, but none of it is effective because of how fake it
- 1:28:29looks. Just take a look at the scene
- 1:28:31where one of the characters is split into three pieces.
- 1:28:33The CGI effect makes it look like Joe has been sliced,
- 1:28:36because when the man is sliced, he just perfectly falls into the
- 1:28:40ground in these pieces and not even blood or guts inside of him
- 1:28:43come falling out. Even worse is a scene towards
- 1:28:46the start where someone takes an incredibly fake looking arrow
- 1:28:50through the eye. And the characters are another
- 1:28:52major problem because you've really got no one to cheer for.
- 1:28:56The convicts are all people you hate and you want to see them
- 1:28:59finished off, but before you get to that you've got to endure God
- 1:29:02awful fighting and bickering. The good guys here are all
- 1:29:05rather boring, bland, and you just don't care what happens to
- 1:29:08them. Even the mutant here is boring
- 1:29:10when whereas there were brought to life and the first two here
- 1:29:15they're just cheap killing machines that add nothing to the
- 1:29:18picture. Even the performances are pretty
- 1:29:20much forgettable, as is everything else in this in this
- 1:29:23mess of a film. OK.
- 1:29:26I mean, I pretty much agree with all of that, aside from like,
- 1:29:29I'm OK with their occasionally just being like a group of bad
- 1:29:33guys. Yeah, throughout.
- 1:29:34Yeah, I mean, I I totally understand where they're coming
- 1:29:38from with this. Like, I can see them not
- 1:29:40necessarily being super strong characters, especially the good
- 1:29:42guys. I don't think Nay is a very
- 1:29:44strong protagonist. Alex isn't necessarily
- 1:29:47knowworthy either, And the most compelling characters?
- 1:29:52Chavez. Somebody called a Mary Sue, a
- 1:29:55male Mary Sue is a Gary Stu, and I think that's what Nate is
- 1:29:58he's. A We came up with that, remember
- 1:30:00Did we We did that with Was that honest?
- 1:30:02But Joe with forever state of fear.
- 1:30:03My God, we're so funny. Yeah, Gary, Stu.
- 1:30:06Yeah, we came up with that, didn't we?
- 1:30:08Yeah. Cuz I think that there's like an
- 1:30:10actual name for the male version of it, but we just came up.
- 1:30:13You just quote us to us for a second, if I may.
- 1:30:17Yeah, no, I get it. But if they're not gonna be like
- 1:30:20perfect, make them entertaining. Like Chavez Chavez was like the
- 1:30:23most entertaining character in this movie.
- 1:30:25Yes, and that's because they gave his character like depth,
- 1:30:30depth and like it was the way he was performed.
- 1:30:32Also, yeah, it like you really got an idea of who he was.
- 1:30:36Yeah, definitely. All right.
- 1:30:37We got one listener of you Okay. It's from Cube saves on
- 1:30:40Instagram and he says the wrong Turn series kicks off as a fun
- 1:30:46and dumb series from this point on.
- 1:30:48Fuck yeah my man. That's right.
- 1:30:50I asked him in a follow up question what his feelings
- 1:30:53towards Six are. He doesn't mind Six.
- 1:30:56He thinks it's fine, but he hates the remake.
- 1:31:00Well, OK, the remake is barely a remake.
- 1:31:03There is neither hooting nor hollering.
- 1:31:06Yep, exactly. It's it's.
- 1:31:07Shitty Man has its own movie. Whatever.
- 1:31:11Like, it's OK. You want to know what I?
- 1:31:13Think but like calling it part of this franchise is just wrong.
- 1:31:16I have a theory about it and I think it because it's the guy
- 1:31:19that made the original Alan McElroy.
- 1:31:22I believe it's his name OK, and I think that he wanted to tell a
- 1:31:28new story. But I don't think that he was
- 1:31:30able to get the proper funding for something if it were
- 1:31:35original. So he wanted to slap the wrong
- 1:31:37turn. He's like, I'm coming back to
- 1:31:38the series, I'm making a new one, remaking it, you know, give
- 1:31:42me some funding and I can do it. And all I did was like, OK,
- 1:31:45well, I got my new story here. I just got to move it to the
- 1:31:48holler and then they'll be fine. So I think he just wanted to
- 1:31:52tell a story and he just wanted to get it made.
- 1:31:55And that was his way of doing it.
- 1:31:57That's possible. That's just my theory.
- 1:31:59I'm not saying that's for sure what happened, but, you know, it
- 1:32:02makes sense to me. OK, that's it for this week's
- 1:32:07episode. Guys.
