[rock music] No? Now I can hear you. [laughs] It's only, it's only took us 27 tries. [laughs] Coming to you live from Maine, New England. Singlespeed USA 2021.
• 0:19
[laughs] Nice shot. [laughs] I forgot what year it was really quick. [laughs] It's Tuesday's podcast. Uh, Greg's total is number nine. I have no idea where we're at. Um, we literally just finished up Singlespeed USA
• 0:35
2021. Actually, it's 2020, but we... There was a gap in there. There was a stretch. There was a stretch. Yes. Um, everybody survived. Mm-hmm. We all got done riding. Um- As far as we know...
• 0:47
I did, I did damn near the whole course. You did the whole thing. I did the whole thing. I had a mechanical right at the start because my mechanic sucks. You didn't even introduce me. Oh, yeah, that's right. I'm sorry.
• 0:55
Nobody even knows who we're talking to. Oh, yeah. No, like who, who the fuck would they expect to be on here other than you and I?
• 1:00
Well, yeah, we've been doing that a couple times where we run into places up here, and they're like, "You're not from around here, are you?" I'm like, "Yeah, notice how I pronounce my Rs at the end of my sentences?
• 1:08
Yeah, I'm not from fucking up here." [laughs] We- You noticed that... the, the best one so far of listening to the Maine accents today... Oh, by the way, Spinner's with me.
• 1:18
Uh, sooner or later we're gonna have, uh, Seth and Erica who put on the race, and then we're gonna have Sarah and Marty that won the belts. Won the belts. It doesn't mean they won the race. Belt winners.
• 1:29
They won the belts. They won the important shit. The race winners don't matter.
• 1:32
But going back to what we're talking about earlier, the best comment all weekend was, uh, one of our riders, and there'll be a picture up here shortly, of... Uh, he had a, uh, CPR doll on the front of his bike.
• 1:47
It was d- it was rather disturbing and the [laughs] and- We'll get it sent to Greg. He can put it in the show notes. And the- It's 'cause you can't explain it... and I can't do...
• 1:54
Yeah, and I can't, I can't do an accent, but he... the way he said diaper made us fucking laugh so hard. [laughs] He's like, "I love the diaper on the front of the bike."
• 2:01
[laughs] And we- [laughs] And we're, and we're literally, like, going... We're, we're all kind of going, "He thinks we're laughing at the, that part. No, we're actually laughing at his accent." It was horrible. Mm-hmm.
• 2:11
Well, it's like the weird thing, like everybody where we're from, like, uses this accent once in a while 'cause of, like, uh, was it Goodwill Hunting and all that stuff, like, they...
• 2:20
But we're up here where you actually, people actually talk like that. I mean, that is just how they talk up here. [laughs] It is like, it's cool.
• 2:26
But I'm sure if we get up here and they're like, talk about the same thing when, like, we're from Iowa, like, "Yeah, you want, guys want a brat, bratwurst?" You know, like, the [laughs] whole fucking- Oh, and-...
• 2:35
Chicago, the Midwest accent. Go out on a boat. Speaking of food, Spinner had his first red hot dog today. Yeah, yesterday. Yeah, it's a Boston thing. Is it a Boston thing or is it just the East Coast? No, uh, he said...
• 2:46
Yeah. Well, that's what they said. They're like- It's a Maine thing. New England thing... it's a New England thing, okay. New England thing? Yeah. She's like, "Do you want it red or brown?"
• 2:51
I'm like, "What, what is the difference about that?" So, and by the way, right now we have five other people in the s- in the studio, if you wanna call it that, with us.
• 3:00
That's probably more people than that listen to this. Yeah. [laughs] They get to listen to our mistakes live. Yeah. [laughs] To clarify something, the red hot dog is pronounced red snappa. Red snappa.
• 3:10
[laughs] Red snappa is a red hot dog. All right. We got it. All right. Let's, uh, let's quick over, 'cause the, the, uh, Marty's waiting over here quietly. You can put a headset on and jump in, Marty. Oh my God.
• 3:23
You, you got a belt on, you can put a headset on. Yeah. That's the one, that's how it works. Put a belt on, put a... Yeah. Jump in. You can jump in. You're good. Mm-hmm.
• 3:30
It's, uh, um- This guy obviously cuts his own hair. Yeah. [laughs] I'd say... it's, it's like yours is just cut in different lengths in different places. Yeah. Um, so let's talk about the course.
• 3:41
And do all you guys have anything that's- Well, do you wanna talk about how we made it out here finally? Oh, yeah. Let's talk about a drive out here. So it was, uh- Last time we talked to you we were in Wisconsin. Yes.
• 3:49
And, uh, that was 23 hours in, before the end of the drive. And we stopped- In Toledo...
• 3:56
in Toledo, and then we came out here and met, uh, Scandinavian Jesus and a couple other guys and spent a night in- In Lewiston, Maine... Lewiston, Maine. Yep.
• 4:06
And then we wa- finally, we f- [laughs] and, and seriously, we finally made it here. And Maine is the weirdest state I've ever seen. I've never seen so many dry towns in my life. [laughs] Yeah.
• 4:15
Normally, normally when I travel with you guys, it's like we can't get anywhere because the bars get in the way. We couldn't get anywhere because we couldn't find a fucking bar.
• 4:22
Oh, we got everywhere 'cause we couldn't find a bar. We just drove really slow like, "Somebody's gotta have a bar." There's no PBR signs next to the highway or anything. No. It was super weird. Or... Yeah.
• 4:30
So it was strange. So we finally made it out here. It took us a while. Um, and unfortunately we're bailing back tomorrow. Mm-hmm. Um, we, we got lucky, I think. Um, you've been whining about rain possibly all week.
• 4:43
I wasn't whining, I just, I read my phone wrong. It was 81 degrees, 34% chance of rain. For some reason I thought it was 81% chance of rain [laughs] and 34 degrees. [laughs] I just... Yeah, I don't know.
• 4:55
[laughs] So needless to say, we made it. Uh, the, the race was fantastic. Uh, the course was, um- There's a wicked shit ton of rocks in Maine. Yeah. [laughs] Yeah. The- their, their idea of, of flat, fat and...
• 5:11
fast and flowy is, like, bumpy and- It's like riding a cobblestone. Like, you don't wanna sit your ass down on a singlespeed when you ride over that shit. You gotta stand up because it'll just kick me in the ass.
• 5:19
[laughs] I'm thinking, "Fucking..." It was nuts. So it was good. We s- we're all finished. Your guy's all finished. Yep. You obviously finished and finished... Oh, um, and- You were working. You were sweep, right?
• 5:32
You swept a course? Let's be loose about the sweep. [laughs] It was a pretty loose sweep. The rumor has it I didn't do a great job. Oh. [laughs] I was too drunk.
• 5:39
I haven't seen you do anything right this weekend, to be honest with you. [laughs] You haven't seen us do anything right either. No, that's right. I was impressive though. Yeah. Yeah. So- So it w- it went well.
• 5:48
It was, it was... The, the course itself was fantastic. There was shit loads of climbs. Is this the expensive whiskey? No, if it's the expensive one, it's in the Leonard. Oh.
• 5:56
You guys wanna drink out of the- The expensive one... so g- can you do a quick overview of, uh, what this guy is and how long he's been around and how many- So-... Singlespeed Worlds he's been to? We-...
• 6:05
have, um, a flask. It's called Leonard, is the guy's name. Um, we, the, the original one was picked up when we did Singlespeed Worlds in New Zealand. The guy gave it to us there. Um, somewhere along the line,
• 6:19
um, I think it was Jake or, or Kramer, one of the two, had it in their suitcase and it got broken up, and he found the exact same one in the States, you know.
• 6:27
So this is, this is number two, and it's been l- going on for five, six years at least. Mm-hmm. That'll warm you right up, huh? [laughs] The, uh, what we're drinking out of that is a
• 6:41
single, single barrel malt from, uh, Harmony Spirits back in Minnesota where I'm from. It's a buddy of mine. Um... I like this. Everybody's jumping right in. Nobody's, nobody's shy about that. Nobody's shy.
• 6:54
Oh, he's putting it in a cup. Oh, yeah. Oh, he's being fancy. Because he's doing more than... He's, he- That's more than a shot. Hey, hey, he's a fucking winner. Let him go. Let him sip on it. Yeah, he's a sipper.
• 7:02
He's a sipper right now. He's a sipper, and he's also a winner. Yeah. So to go- Might as well throw on a headset, Marty, because we're here. Yeah. It's time to talk. Jump in, Marty. We're gonna talk about...
• 7:09
We're gonna talk to you now, so it's your turn. Um, uh, so, um, Marty Waters is here with us. Um, he won... So Singlespeed USA and Worlds kind of the same way.
• 7:22
Um, it's a little bit different, but, uh, Singlespeed USA, if you win the race, nobody cares. If y- True, true. I mean, if you're the first one done. If you're the first one done, yeah. Nobody cares. Nobody cares.
• 7:32
Um, if you, the, where, where you get to wear the belt and you get the belt buckle is if you, um, win the Derby. Dude. And Marty, and Marty won the Derby this year. Yep. Congratulations. Congratulations. Why, thank you.
• 7:47
So- We're just fortunate to have a hockey rink outside of the, uh- Yeah... event center today, and, and we did Derby in the hockey rink. That was so awesome. I was so hoping they were gonna do that.
• 7:56
I saw that hockey rink, and of course, since I coach and shit, it was like my m- just made my day. And then Seth said, "Yes." Yeah, so back in Minnesota, Chewie coaches hockey.
• 8:05
And, and so we were like, "Yeah, it's gonna be in the hockey rink," and that just made me so happy. So what do you think, uh, um... Have you done any other Singlespeed USAs? Yes, I did, uh, the one at Port, uh-
• 8:19
Port Jervis? Port, Port Jervis, yep, yep. In New York? Uh, yeah, and that was a lot of fun, but I did not compete in the after games. I was just an observer. So you could've been a two-time winner.
• 8:28
I could've been in theory. Oh, okay. All right, yeah. But, um, from what I understood from that year, bowling was the ultimate challenge. That was the hosting competition. That was the...
• 8:35
Oh, that was the hosting competition. Hosting, yeah, yeah. Unfortunately, I won that one, too. [laughs] Yeah. [laughs] And so we went to Austin, Texas. That's right. Yeah, yeah, so. Where are you from?
• 8:44
Uh, New Haven, Connecticut. Okay. So not, not a bad drive up here. Six hours- Mm-hmm... ish, six and a half maybe. Um- Oh, geez. Thank you... but yeah, I came up, uh- Wow... got lucky. Mead. Oh. Worked out well.
• 8:58
You brought me mead. Thank you. So what'd you think of the ride? The ride itself was great. I actually have never ridden up, uh, the Carrabassett Valley before, so always a treat to see some new trails.
• 9:09
Uh- Is this, uh, Carrabassett Valley, is, is that a destination up here, do you know? It is? It's a destination area? 'Cause I'd never heard of it, but, uh, we're 2,000 miles away, so...
• 9:20
[laughs] Right, yeah, I guess, I, I mean, I knew that people rode here, but I, I... You could argue that it took, uh, Singlespeed USA to get me up here. There you go.
• 9:29
I don't know if that's fair or not, but- It's fair for us... it's probably accurate. Yeah, yeah. I would never have ridden 2,000 miles if it wasn't for Singlespeed USA. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
• 9:35
It's, it's a por- it's another reason... I mean, that's why we, we have it held... You'll, you, you'll never see it back here again. It could be back in the state again, but you'll never see it here again.
• 9:45
At the same place. Because, because the idea is, is to go different places and basically terrorize other towns. Yeah, how many times- Oh, yeah, for sure...
• 9:53
have you, uh, done a destination trip to do mountain biking in Iowa? How many times have you done that? Zero times. Yeah. And in fact, I have never once been to Iowa before. Oh my God. And now he has to go next year.
• 10:03
[laughs] I have to go. I have to go. You have to go 'cause you have to bring that belt. I have to wear this belt every day- We, we have you every day, so yes, but yes... until then.
• 10:10
So Singlespeed USA 2022 will be in Iowa, and if you've never ridden there, you've been... You, you're in for a treat. Yeah, it, you'll, you'll enjoy it. It'll be, it's- Yeah.
• 10:20
If any of you guys show up, it's gonna be so different than what you ride here. Uh, well, not necessarily 'cause- Is it nothing but flat corn fields? That's what I picture. That's exactly what it is.
• 10:29
We're gonna, we're gonna ride corn rows. Yeah, be a- And that's all you get to do... be a dick, and I can make you ride corn fields- [laughs]... and there's nothing worse than riding a corn field. Yes.
• 10:36
Um- Especially with the, with the crops are down- Yeah... and you're riding the stalks. Yeah, just when you go over row after row after row, it's horrible. It's kind of like riding your rocks up here. Yeah.
• 10:43
Um, I'll be like- Yeah, your rocks are all rounded. What the fuck? There's, there were so many goddamn rocks on this course [laughs] and, like, you couldn't...
• 10:50
Uh, yeah, you had to, like, stand up most of the time because if you try to sit on your bike, you're just getting pounded in the ass after your bike just bounced off these rocks left...
• 10:57
I mean, it was like- Yeah, that's-... riding cobblestones. That's standard. Gigantic cobblestones. Yeah, yeah. That's normal. [laughs] Everything in the northeast, is that what is it like up here? Yep, yep, yep. Okay.
• 11:05
We're used to that. Okay. Nice ass pounding's always good for- [laughs]... character-building, you know? [laughs] Yep, it builds character, that's for sure.
• 11:15
[laughs] Again, uh- I'm, I'm trying to get Sarah to show up here, too. She's, she's got her kid with her. She was cockadood off earlier. Was she really? Yeah, she signed DJ's... DJ got an arrow from the course. Yep.
• 11:25
And then, uh, she, he asked her to sign it, and instead of just, like, writing her name, she wrote her... She filled in the arrow with her last name. [laughs] That... What'd you do? It, it looked, it looked nice, though.
• 11:34
I just wrote a little blurb at the bottom. [laughs] Kept it simple. Yeah? Yeah. I'm no, I'm, I'm no real champion. I just, you know, got lucky. Dude, you have a fucking wrestling belt. Yeah.
• 11:44
[laughs] But I, yeah, but I apparently am the champion, so there you go. Exactly, and, and, and you will wear it proudly because we all do. Where have you been?
• 11:52
And there's multiple champions in this room right now, so don't you downplay that belt. Indeed. Fair, fair enough. [laughs] Fair enough. Yeah, no, I shouldn't forsake it. I, I get that. Yeah. Yep.
• 12:01
You gotta wear it to every race you go to. You gotta rub it in the f- in the face of all your friends. All right, can do. Mm-hmm. Did they, uh- Yeah. Keep, keep talking. I'm gonna get her set up here. Okay.
• 12:10
Did you, uh, put your initials in? Did they give you the plate yet? Uh, no, not yet. I gotta, I gotta work that out later. Okay.
• 12:17
So there's official plates that I need- There's, like, little number things that you put your name in and the year.
• 12:21
And typically, the nice thing to do if you wanna soften the leather, you either pour whiskey or beer on it before you stomp it in- Okay... so that the leather gets a little bit soft as you break it in there. Easy enough.
• 12:30
Yeah. All right, cool. Yeah. [sniffs] So- Ooh... it's a good-looking belt. I know. Yeah. Where's your belt? I gave it to you. You didn't lose it already, did you? [laughs] Just like that. Just like that.
• 12:44
Uh, so- What is this? That is a leprechaun full of whiskey that you should take the head off and drink it. Yes. So the, uh- Yeah, it's decent stuff, too... the women's winner, female winner. How do we call it? Women's.
• 12:57
I don't wanna get in trouble. Women? What do you wanna call them? Yeah. Not the girl winner. You can call me female. Okay, female. There's womens. It's okay. Yeah, whatever. Yeah. Yeah.
• 13:01
Uh, Sarah Loya, uh, is, is won the, uh, women's version of it. It was, uh- [laughs] Was that one word? Sarah Loya? [laughs] What'd you, what'd you just say? Did I just say that? Sarah Loya. [laughs] Told ya. Yeah.
• 13:13
This is gonna happen. Um- We've been drinking all day. Actually, we've been drinking for three days. It's, yeah, so once we finally were able to stop driving and drink. What do you think? It's really good. Good.
• 13:23
You were right. Yeah. [laughs] It's gonna keep you warm, isn't it? Mm-hmm. 'Cause you feel it all the way down. Mm. Yep. Good. What was my question? [laughs] Uh, I don't know. Where do we wanna start?
• 13:33
Uh, where are you from? I'm from Waterbury, Vermont. Yeah. Oh, yeah, they're the, they're the ones that, that, that tried to beat us out, but they lost. Mm-hmm. That's right, in the little good spikes.
• 13:44
Um, I wish you would've beat us out. [laughs] 'Cause now we have to host this thing. [laughs] You, and you, and you realize you're coming to Iowa now, right? Yeah. Uh-huh. I've never been, so it's gonna be a trip.
• 13:54
Oh, yeah. Wow. [laughs] That look, that look you gave me didn't look like it was gonna be a trip. It was like- [laughs]... "Fuck, I gotta go to Iowa?"
• 14:01
Well, so, like- I'll wear my flight costume that you were wearing earlier. Yeah, you can have that. Yeah. Yes. Thanks. You can wear that. Mm-hmm. Um, Top Gun. Uh- [laughs]...
• 14:09
so it was, uh, yeah, I, I don't know, like, how far everybody is here. Like, we're in Maine, but everybody's from a state that is very, very close to here. Mm-hmm. There's not, like...
• 14:22
There's not, like a, I don't know, Connecticut, New Hampshire, uh, Rhode Island, Massachusetts. Like, everything is, like, in the... Everything in the northeast would fit into, like, Wisconsin, right? Mm-hmm. Exactly.
• 14:33
That area? Yeah. Okay. So yeah, six hours to get here. How f- long did it take you to get here? Four hours. Four hours, okay. Yeah. So- Not too bad. Mm-hmm. Hmm. How long did it take you to get here? Two days.
• 14:45
[laughs] Oh, my God. [laughs] Yeah. Three beers. Yeah. No, three days. Three beers. Yeah, and the worst part was is we kept, every time we stopped, there was no fucking beer. Mm.
• 14:53
Like, we literally had to dig into crappy vodka that I brought with just to survive one night's stay. It was horrible. [laughs] And there was a lot of construction and accidents, and we got stuck.
• 15:03
And his truck is a stick shift, so we're, like, sitting here trying to, like, keep, put it in gear and idle with the same s- speed as, like, the construction was going, and it never worked. Not very well. No.
• 15:14
Um, okay, your, uh, opinion of the course? Opening? The beginning? The, just the race itself. The race itself. Um, it was, it was great. You had fun? Yeah, I had a lot of fun. Have you ridden up here before?
• 15:28
Uh, a long time ago. I did, uh, cross country, like, ski trail racing, like, 20 years ago. Wow. So this was great. Good. These trails were incredible. No fire roads. That was great. Yeah. Yes. That's, that was, it was...
• 15:44
We've all said the same thing. Everybody's pr- Other than the fact that Spinner and I don't like all the rocks, everything else has been fantastic. Ugh. And there's only one beer stop. Seth, we're gonna talk about that.
• 15:53
[laughs] But, uh- That, that's a good point. Yeah. [laughs] Two, two would've been nice. Two would've been nice, but yeah, definitely there was- Wait, wait, wait, wait...
• 16:00
there was guys that never made it out of the first beer stop, too. [laughs] No, but there was, technically there was unofficial s- beer stop at when you were, like, within, from the ri- from the river up to the finish.
• 16:10
It was, what, quarter of a mile? Yeah, and there, that was a beer stop. Are you calling that a beer stop? [laughs] Well, it pretty much was by the time I got there. It was a beer stop. There was no beer when I got there.
• 16:17
Yeah, well, but you were too fucking fast. Try riding slower next time. Okay. Okay. I'll ride, uh, whatever you rode today. A clunker? Clunker. State, state clunker? Yes. Yeah. Yes. Okay. Would you guys ever consider-
• 16:29
Yes... either one of you? You? Would? No. No. When? What do you mean no? [laughs] She said yes before you asked the question. I said, yeah, so she, she's in. She's riding clunker in Iowa. I like how Marty's like- I am...
• 16:36
"Not gonna answer until you finish." [laughs] He's, he's, he's gonna wait. Um, and you're, you work at a bike shop, right? Yeah, that's true. Which is why he's the way he is. Okay. 'Cause he never...
• 16:46
He's just waiting until the cu- He's dealt with your kind before. Yeah, exactly. Just gotta keep it casual. I'm gonna tell, I'm gonna tell you how to fix my bike in about two minutes here, right?
• 16:53
[laughs] So yes, you're riding, you're riding- [laughs] So you both are riding clunkers next year in Iowa. Totally. I can do that. Good. But there's some climbing. Yeah, 'cause I assume it's all flat, right?
• 17:03
There's a lot of climbing. Just nothing but flat stuff out there. Oh, yeah, 'cause we're riding, that's right, we're back to riding cornfields again. [laughs] That's right, I forgot about that.
• 17:07
[laughs] Get ready to bunny hop your, yeah, the, the corn rows. A lot of soybeans. There isn't- Nothing but Busch Light. Yeah. Yeah, I'll take a fat bike with a coaster brake. It'll be great. Yeah.
• 17:16
[laughs] Oh, we've done that. You can borrow mine. [laughs] Oh, and, and it's... So then, well, we won't get into that part yet. What, what, what was your first thoughts when Single Speed Iowa came up?
• 17:27
Were you like, "Uh, there can't be any mountain biking in Iowa"? W- W- What was your, what was your initial reaction? No, I mean, uh, if, my honest thoughts were, uh, I don't know. Okay.
• 17:36
Like, I'm joking around obviously, but, uh, I'm curious. Okay. Uh, I, like, I, I'm just drawing a blank- Mm-hmm... thinking of Iowa. I will say, uh, Single Speed Key West seemed the most hilarious to me- [laughs]...
• 17:49
because it would be a fucking awful place to put the race on- I would-... which would be all the more funny. Yeah. Okay. So I was, I was kinda rooting for Key West. And that's still out of the question. Well, so was I.
• 17:59
I was buying for Iowa, but I was still hoping for Key West. [laughs] Yeah. There are no mountain bike trails there. There are illegal trails that add up to, like, a mile maybe. Yeah.
• 18:11
Oh, wait, you've been to Key West and rode? Yes. Yeah. That's like cheating. [laughs] Well, I- You have too? I've been to Key West, yeah. Yeah, but you were drunk. You wouldn't know what you're doing.
• 18:21
[laughs] I was drunk for three days. I kinda, like-... a pattern. I figured it out. [laughs] That's, that's standard, that's standard Key West behavior. Mm-hmm.
• 18:27
And that was kinda the thing, the initial thing was like, if nobody wants to host, we'll just take it to somewhere there is no mountain biking, and then maybe somebody will host it next year, so.
• 18:34
Well, and, and a, and a bit it's the same thing 'cause Single Speed racing in general is just making fun of racing. Yeah. [laughs] So this is literally, this is like literally making fun of something we started.
• 18:43
Which was nice, and we'll talk to Seth in a minute, but he, first thing he opened with, he's like, "Nobody wins. There is no first place today." [laughs] It's fantastic. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. All right. So I...
• 18:52
We're gonna slide over to those two in a second here, and I'll let you guys off the hook. Um- Yeah, yeah, yeah... anything else you'd like to say? Sarah, you're first. Oh, me? Yeah. I look forward- The other Sarah.
• 19:02
[laughs] I'm not... My name's not Sarah. [laughs] No, I can't wait. He has used that alias- I'm not Sarah... so don't get him wrong. Yeah. That is... You know, I might be Sarah later, but no, uh. This is super fun. Yeah.
• 19:12
And I like the Legevron whiskey. That's his. And, uh- Okay. Harmony... so that, we'll, we'll make sure- But this, yeah, this company is how far from Decorah? Uh, where it's going next year.
• 19:22
Uh, it's, it's, uh- 30 miles north... 30, 30 miles north of there, so we'll make a... We can do, we can do a gravel road right up there.
• 19:27
Uh, we'll probably have to do some gravel in the race next year, but there's at least 30 miles of single track in Decorah. And it's all... The nice thing about it, it's all in city limits. Nice. And there's a river.
• 19:39
The trails, like the town is in one spot, and then there's a river, and then the trails are on the other side. And we'll have to incorporate the river somehow, too. Mm-hmm. We could do that, yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
• 19:49
Cool, cool. Don't tell Chuy's wife that we're coming there. [laughs] Hopefully... She don't, she doesn't listen to this. [laughs] Oh, [laughs] fuck no. [laughs] She doesn't listen to anything I say.
• 19:58
We're not telling her that you won until next year. I w- Wait, say, whatever we- Till the week before next year. [laughs] No. "Uh, what are you doing this weekend?" "I have a race to run in Iowa."
• 20:05
[laughs] And then she'll go, "Good. I'm staying here." Yeah. She's staying. Marty, how about you? I'll just, I'll just be honest and positive and say I actually am looking forward to going to Iowa.
• 20:15
It'll be interesting, so. Yeah. Mm-hmm. New trail, new trail. I'll leave it at that. I mean, if you're here, it's gonna be good. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I rode everything today.
• 20:22
I mean, this is, some of the stuff is very similar to actually what we have there. Mm-hmm. So, but it's- Yep, there was bits and pieces. Exactly... in the Mississippi River Valley, there's a lot of elevation.
• 20:29
Don't worry about it. Cool. Yeah. Just run uphill. We have tillable and non-tillable is how we classify our land there. [laughs] And Decorah has a lot of non-tillable because it's hilly. Nice. [laughs] Yeah.
• 20:39
Yeah, should be good. Yeah. Cool. All right, cool. I gotta be there. All right. I'll see you all there. Thanks, you two. Thank you. Thanks, guys. Thank you. Yeah, yeah. Take, guys, make sure you wear your belt properly.
• 20:47
I'll wear my belt, yeah. Wear your belt to the next, next- Hey, you're supposed to wear it the rest of the night like his. Yeah. Yep. Mm-hmm. Go get it done. All night. Mine's like a corset though.
• 20:53
It comes up to here, kinda like- Hmm. Like, yeah. [laughs] And there's no complaining going on. [laughs] Do you want me to wear it for you? Oh, God.
• 21:03
[laughs] When he had to give up the belt, he shouldn't have seen- Or just, just drape it over your shoulder. There you go, yeah. I, I seriously have a video of him giving up- Should I bring Tyson?
• 21:09
[laughs] I have a video of Spinner giving up the trophy, the belt. Uh-huh. And he, I think there was a tear in his eye.
• 21:15
Well, 'cause I wore it a couple times, and when I first got it, that plate on the front was like straight up and down. And then as my belly got bigger, I bent the... You can see how the top's bent on that belt right now.
• 21:24
[laughs] Well, I, I'm, I'm also wearing it upside down. Yeah. But it's, yeah, it's, it's a, it's a whole thing. Yeah, I don't got anything to push it out down there, so yeah. [laughs] I wore it upside down too.
• 21:34
All right. All right, thanks, you two. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah. We'll get you guys, get the next group in, get you guys in. Thanks, guys. Thanks, everybody. Awesome. Go ahead, Spinner. You take a break? Nope.
• 21:44
Um, how do I pause? It's your show. [laughs] Fuck it, I don't know how to do this. It's my show. [laughs] So we're back. Wait, was there supposed to be like a commercial break or something, Sue?
• 21:56
Is there a com- commercial in there? Absolutely. Yeah. For what? Single Speed Iowa. Oh, yeah. [laughs] Okay. We'll, we'll put one in there, yeah. Oh.
• 22:03
Um, so now Seth and Eric are with us, the, uh, promoters, the- The hosts... the hosts of Single Speed USA. Um, they did a fantastic job. I'm gonna, I'm even gonna brag them up because they don't need to be bragged up.
• 22:16
[laughs] Fucking fantastic. Thank you. Actually, there was only one mistake they made. Beer stops? The- The graph... the way you set up the, the, uh, deciders so that we won [laughs]
• 22:27
now was- [laughs] We were good until then. I can't believe nobody made it past me on that little thing. Yeah. Um.
• 22:33
Well, okay, so just before we go any farther, just so you all know that there's a thing that we put on in Wisconsin called Gnomefest. Mm-hmm. And there is a- It's called Levis Fat Tire Fest now. Okay, fine. Yeah.
• 22:44
Um, it's still the same thing. Um, and there is a dwarf bicycle race. It's a figure eight death race- Yes... on little kids' bikes. Yes. Not fat kids' bikes. No.
• 22:55
No, those are way cooler, but this is just on the same thing, and it gets ugly. And you know who wins just about every year? In fact, the last time when it was in Wausau, he won
• 23:04
naked and slid, [laughs] and slid across the gravel. That is the term. [laughs] Yeah. And slid across, and slid across the gravel to the finish line to, went ahead like ass first. Yeah. Ew. Yeah. No.
• 23:15
Oh, no, there was a lot more ew than you think. [laughs] That's, that sounds natural. Didn't look, didn't look bad to me. So who has to pick all the gravel out? Um, good question. Nobody.
• 23:25
We just hung him over a fence and hit him with a fucking rock- [laughs]... just to make it, knock the shit out again. Make it bounce out. But, uh- All right...
• 23:31
you obviously, so the decider this year was, uh, fat tire little kids' bikes. Yeah. But, but, uh... Did you do something with the handlebars to make the handlebars tire, halt tight?
• 23:42
No, they're actually- Handlebars taller? They're actually mini BMX bikes. They're, they're adult bikes. Oh, is that what that is. Yeah. Oh, okay. Yep. Okay.
• 23:49
So like the real good riders of them do all sorts of stupid tricks and stuff. Okay. The rest of us, as you saw today- Can't make it up... fall on our asses. [laughs] Can't come more than three feet.
• 23:57
Can't, like, climb a beer can on that thing. Correct. Yeah. No, that was a neat, that was a neat event. And it was a, a good venue for it. I mean, that was a good use of the course that you had. Yeah.
• 24:06
I expected you guys to get a little farther, but, uh, you know. Yeah, considering you had us like riding a quarter of a mile d- [laughs]... then you were gonna be done. And, and I got, I got five boards down. Mm-hmm.
• 24:17
Yeah. It was horrible. I cleared the first one and halfway through the second- Yeah... which is more than anybody else did, so. [laughs] It's true. I'm so much surprised.
• 24:23
Well, but once everybody started playing around with them, there was guys that were doing much better. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah That they didn't want to, they didn't wanna host it, so oh well. [laughs] Which is weird.
• 24:31
All right. Anyway, going back to thank you two for hosting. You're welcome. You guys did a wonderful job. This was a blast. Appreciate it.
• 24:37
Um, could you move closer to Minnesota next time so we don't have to drive so goddamn far? We are trying to move up to this location permanently, so we'll be farther away. Where do you live now? We live in Portland.
• 24:48
In Portland, okay. Yep. How far is that from here? Two and a half hours. Okay. Yep. Yeah. It's beautiful up here. There's no getting around that. Yeah, it's great. Um, we're- We wanna, like, pull away from society.
• 24:58
You're... [laughs] There's so- I don't blame you. There's society up here. It's, it's, uh- Not city society. [laughs] No, it's, uh, I, I'm, I'm- It's a little more rustic society... yeah, it is.
• 25:08
I mean, it's, it's very ni- everybody up here seems to be awesome and very nice. It's- Oh, yeah. Great... it's small community, but it's really spread out. I don't know how else to ex- explain it.
• 25:15
There's no bars up here. What are you guys gonna do for drinks? Um, I did get [laughs] certified in brewing a few years ago. Oh. [gasps] Okay. I know. Crack one in our front yard while we watch traffic go by.
• 25:25
[laughs] Yeah. Sit in the river. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Sit in the river. That's... Is that the kind of thing? You need to just bring beer home here? I mean- Probably. Okay. Yeah.
• 25:32
'Cause, yeah, Wisconsin, every town has a church, a post office, and a bar. Mm-hmm. And we were driving up here, and we stopped a few times. We asked people, like, "Where, where's the closest bar?"
• 25:40
And they're like, "Oh, yeah, 10 miles up the road." We're like, "What?" Yeah. You have establishment where people live and no alcohol? But you can, you can buy beer in every convenience store you find, though. Okay.
• 25:49
So there's always beer available. Okay. Just not necessarily in a bar setting. Oh. And liquor too. And liquor too. That kid does not know we have liquor stores. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
• 25:57
See, I'm from Minnesota, so that, none of that shit happens. There's no beer in, in liquor in convenience stores. Mm-mm. There's certainly no liquor in there. It's the land of 10,000 laws. Yes.
• 26:06
That's why I don't live in Minnesota anymore. [laughs] Or you think about a place in Iowa. Yeah, that's why I bought a place in Iowa. [laughs] Can, can you go to a gas station in Iowa and get beer?
• 26:14
In Iowa- Well, there's the thing, you can get 3.2 beer. Well- So 3.2%. Oh. Is the highest they sell there. So- Otherwise- You actually moved to Utah... no, Iowa. No, Utah. Yeah. Same deal. Same, same, same deal?
• 26:25
You, you moved to the same place. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Okay. No. [laughs] Um- Oh my God, we have group sex going on right in front of us. It's ridiculous. [laughs] That's cuddling. It's not sex yet.
• 26:34
That is group consensual man-on-man love. [laughs] Group hug. Yeah. No, it, it was a cool crew here and, and I think, I feel like a lot of the... What do you call this area? Uh, of all the...
• 26:48
Charlie calls them the colonies, but the northern small states- Mm-hmm... and Maine. What do you call this? New England? New England? It's, it's...
• 26:53
So New England is, like, Connecticut up, and this is northern New England, so Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Okay. A lot of the people that are here haven't been to a lot of other events- Correct...
• 27:02
which is kinda neat, because- Correct... uh, oh, and, and mostly the other events are really far from here. Mm-hmm. So we...
• 27:08
I've recognized a few faces, but there's a lot of people from here that don't travel to the other events. Yeah. So it was neat to see.
• 27:15
Hopefully you got something going with the people up here to say, "Single Speed USA is awesome," and now they're gonna start going to the other ones. We used to do a lot of, uh, single speed races in New York. Okay.
• 27:24
Uh, there used to be a thing called Single Speedapalooza, which was a blast, and everybody would go. And then that shop closed that was putting it on, and we didn't have it anymore. So everybody that...
• 27:33
Well, a lot of people that came here today have been waiting. They're just waiting for something to happen. Yeah. And we finally, like, we went to Vermont, what, in 2012, 2013, whenever Vermont was for Single Speed USA?
• 27:42
2012, I wanna say. Yeah. Yeah. That was, like, our, uh, losing our Single Speed USA virginity. Yeah, and- That was, like, my first, uh, year of dating you, I think. First or second year. Close.
• 27:51
You saw a guy in a single speed and you're like, "I need to have that guy." [laughs] Uh, no. He was- [laughs] [laughs] Could... You wanna think about that for at least a second? [laughs] Crazy.
• 28:01
So yeah, when we, when we went to New York, we were very determined, and then when we didn't win at New York to get hosting rights, we were like, "We're, we're going to Texas. Whatever it takes, we're going to Texas."
• 28:11
We drove straight down to Texas. Well, actually, we stopped in Arkansas and rode Bentonville- Oh, nice... which was a blast. Yep, yep. And Seth literally did whatever it took. I did whatever it took.
• 28:18
You put a lot of quarters in your ass to bring- Yeah. Yeah. I did... single speeds up here. That's right. I did. Yeah. Uh- He's impressive. [laughs] Are you always a single speeder? But it c- No. Okay.
• 28:26
'Cause it looks like maybe, uh- Yeah. [laughs] I'm a single speed only... big hit, like, severe with all that action shit. Yeah. Yeah. Again, do you wanna think about that answer for just a second?
• 28:34
[laughs] My single speed got, uh, cannibalized today- [laughs]... so that this guy here could use his bike 'cause he broke his. I, I'm starting to think that that was on purpose.
• 28:44
You break his bike so you didn't have a single speed anymore? He said as much. He did it on his own. Yeah, yeah. Totally did it on his own. What's this one? But, uh- That's gross. Yeah, no, I, I highly enjoy them. Yeah.
• 28:55
But we do have a lot of, like, lift service stuff and whatnot around here too, so- Yeah, I was gonna say... actually, the place that we rode today, they're, they're hosting the Eastern Cup, uh, Enduro in September.
• 29:05
Oh, really? Yeah. Only two places in, in the country, so them and Burke, I think, in Vermont. Oh, okay. Yep. We get... We travel a lot of places, and there's always mountain bike trails, but this is...
• 29:15
We were biking in actual mountains today. [laughs] Yeah. Yeah. We- [laughs] But it- That second one we had to climb, was that a two-mile climb? What was that? [laughs] I don't know.
• 29:23
I, eventually you just- I was thinking more like two days. Yeah. Yeah. Once the tears start coming down, I just kinda forget about time- [laughs]... and I just hope that it finishes.
• 29:30
I was like, "There's gotta be another beer stop up here. I'm gonna keep on pedaling." No. And there wasn't.
• 29:33
So I wanted a second beer stop there, but because of where it's located and because we had two years to put this together instead of one- Yeah... a lot of locals got more word of what was actually going on- Oh...
• 29:44
and they prevented us from putting a second beer stop over there. Ah. Interesting. Yeah. That's why we're gonna keep Iowa under wraps until- Oh, yeah. [laughs] Oh, other...
• 29:52
Well, that's a good thing 'cause nobody listens to this shit, so there's othe- [laughs] Otherwise we'd be screwed. It was... Because we've... Uh, so Spinner and I
• 30:00
have been in and out of Decorah for a while, and every time we try to put on an event that we actually tell them we're gonna do, a couple of the guys that we ride with on the city council and all this stuff, it becomes, becomes a, uh, "Oh, is this gonna benefit the city?
• 30:13
Can we get this chamber of com-..." No, this is... This one's, you know, it's Single Speed USA. It's a fuck show, and I don't care what anyone [laughs] else wants to call it.
• 30:21
And it's a, it's a mess, and, um, and when it's in a town, it's not a good thing sometimes.
• 30:27
When they get all done, everybody else that either owns a bar or a restaurant or anything else is counting their cash and they're happy as shit- Yeah... that we were there. Mm-hmm. Yeah.
• 30:36
That's, that's the same stuff that happened here, like, when the last week, the, the local trail group, CR NUMBA, they were like, "Did you guys advertise this?
• 30:42
Can we put it up on, like, the kiosk out there and up on the marquee?" And like, no, what the f- are you doing? [laughs] Yeah. It's just a bunch of A-holes getting together to get drunk. Yeah.
• 30:52
It's- If this was for you, you would've known about it by now. Exactly. Yes. Mm-hmm. And- And actually, I reached out to them, they never got back to me, so that's what it is. And it, and it- Oh, snap.
• 31:00
[laughs] And it is... Single Speed Racing is for that group. Mm-hmm. Um- A very unique group... the, the town, every town we've ever been to and any area we've been to has benefited from it.
• 31:10
Like, these guys here, uh, the hotel we're staying at and- Mm... camping. I mean, that's... This is, like, a great... And he's awesome. Yep. He's very cool. Yeah. Like, exactly what we're doing and, and he doesn't care.
• 31:22
Yeah. Like, we're gonna get a little row- a little rowdy, and he doesn't care. He's- He understands. He signed up for the race before he offered the campground. Oh, nice.
• 31:30
So he had signed up back in the beginning of 2020 or whatever, back when it was gonna be last year, and then he decided to build the campground. This is all new. The motel was here, but the campground's all brand new.
• 31:41
Oh, great. And, uh, he's like, "You guys need a place to stay? Here, I'll book out the whole weekend for you." Nice. And, uh, he decided to stay here. He gave his registration over to his buddy, and, uh,
• 31:51
yeah, I can't, I can't ask for, you know, better service than that. Keith is a great guy. Mm-hmm. Yeah. He actually thought we'd be a little rowdier last night than we were. Yeah. Yeah, I think he's just- Yeah...
• 32:00
a heavy sleeper. Yeah. [laughs] I thought it was kinda rowdy. [laughs] I, I have to admit, I get jet lag. I couldn't... At 11:30, I was done. Yeah. Yeah. I couldn't go any farther. I wasn't even jet lagged, truck lag.
• 32:11
I mean, I- Truck lag? Yeah... drove 30 hours, but yeah. I was aggressively drunk. [laughs] Aggressively drunk. [laughs] There was a, there was a little bit of wrestling. Yeah.
• 32:20
Less wrestling than I usually see, but, uh, DJ got his ass kicked- Well, it's less-... which always happens... it's only less because you weren't involved for once. I was standing by.
• 32:27
Well, yeah, you were standing- I was, I was staying out of it... uh, there, the year that it was in Copper Harbor, it was literally everybody take your chance at wrestling against Jesse.
• 32:34
You wrestled, like, 15 fucking people. I know. It was not my idea at all. Jeff, did you win them all? A lot of them. Uh, how did you and Dan do? That's, that's nice.
• 32:42
There was one, there was one dude that was actually a wrestler, and him and... That one was, like, pretty intense. I was a wrestler in college. Oh. Yeah. Have you wrestled Josh yet? No, he wanted to last night.
• 32:51
[laughs] I figured so. Be careful. Why? He's- Just, he's- He's not... on another level... trees fall hard. Of- Tall trees fall hard... [laughs] Yeah.
• 33:02
But you can tell that's the kinda guy that doesn't have enough sense in him to quit. Exactly. [laughs] Yes. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. Let me know if you yell. So Erica, you wanna make this a career now?
• 33:11
[laughs] I said this before- Hey, kids... kids, kids, kids... don't let mom catch it. Don't make us put this to your, in your rooms. Um- Are you a mountain biker? I have a fat tire bike. That is the best kind of bike.
• 33:21
[laughs] Yep, exactly. Is this a single speed fat tire bike? Are, are you ready to become- Hell no.
• 33:24
[laughs] Seth tried to teach me on a single speed, the P's Niner he had, and there were so many tears that I, uh, I switched to gears and- Oh. Yeah... the relationship's better since. [laughs] Okay.
• 33:36
I think that little gurgle out of the bottle just- Whiskey made it through... came through... yeah, yeah, it made it through the microphone. Yeah. Chewy's chugging, uh, whiskey out of a leprechaun.
• 33:42
Are you ready to become a professional promoter now? You guys did such a good job. We've, we've talked about it. Oh, look at that. She's got the look in her eye. She's in.
• 33:50
We, we will do whatever's necessary to move out of the city- [laughs]... live in the woods, and, um, there's an elf of alcohol in front of me. It looks like- That's a leprechaun. Oh, sorry, leprechaun. Yeah.
• 34:00
Yeah, get this, get this straight. [laughs] Okay, hold on. One of those things- I need, I need a break... you, you guys, you guys probably weren't around when we were talking about this, but that is number two.
• 34:08
The first one... What are you- Don't shake your head no. Oh, fuck's sake. [laughs] It's okay. You can swear on this one. Everybody else does. That's why, that's how we got kicked off of Fatbike.com.
• 34:18
[laughs] I swear too much. Whoa. Do you have to hold- I forgot to drink that. Wow... do you have to hold the back of your head when you drink like that? Sorry. I thought my headphones were- Oh, okay. I just- Did I?
• 34:27
They sound, they sound expensive. Staying safe. I don't have any issues. But the promotion you guys did for this event with the colors and... I mean, do you know a graphic artist or did you do that? That was all you?
• 34:38
We actually both went to art school- Oh... back in the day for college. Okay. So I guess that stuck a little bit.
• 34:44
[laughs] The pink and blue, like the Miami Vice with the northern twist on it, I mean, I think that's really cool. So which one of you, which one of you two artists came up with the fifth leg, uh...
• 34:54
[laughs] Uh, I assume you need to ask. [laughs] Yeah. [laughs] There was talks afterwards. We're like, "Well, there's no balls on it." [laughs] Yeah, but they're hitting by the leg. Yeah, we- That's kinda low.
• 35:05
You wouldn't see the balls normally. Yeah. No, we, we needed some, uh, representation of some heavy dongage here, so, uh- [laughs] I made sure that you guys got it.
• 35:17
And that, that's exactly what moose look like up here, too. Yeah. Sorry. Exactly. Yeah, careful. So the, so your moose are different than Alaska moose, I take it. Yeah.
• 35:25
Yeah, so when, if your car hits the moose, you don't have to worry about hitting the moose. Its dong slaps the windshield. [laughs] Wow. Okay. And that takes you out. You guys- [laughs]
• 35:35
As, as everybody's reaching out for the whiskey. [laughs] Oh. I think the show has spiraled as far down as it can go. I mean- Oh, no, no. Let's go five more minutes 'cause I think we can go lower. Okay. Oh, yeah. Okay.
• 35:51
What else? You got, everybody's okay over there? Cinnamon or honey whiskey. Anybody... Oh. [laughs] More booze just showed up. I like honey whiskey. I'm bringing that over here. You know, we've got the...
• 36:01
So if I get to build a bigger shop just for podcasting, because we're like- You can do it in my shop... there's, like, 10 people in here. Yeah. That's nine more than, uh, listen to this stupid thing.
• 36:10
[laughs] I'm not gonna say no, but- Okay. You want me to hold this? I, Mike, seriously, you guys- Yeah, just in case...
• 36:15
my claim to fame on podcasting is I bitch about e-bikes, and somebody from San Francisco actually listened to a podcast and was chewing me out about, said how disgusting I was. I'm like, "Don't care, don't like them."
• 36:28
Mm-hmm. But she did invite me out for coffee. Hmm. Is it, like, fancy Fireball? Single Speed San Francisco? Yeah. Yeah. There we go. Something like that soon. No, they're too good.
• 36:37
The only c- the only I can do the, uh- Fancy Fireball. [laughs]... they can only do the national. Yeah. So do you think, you guys think you'll come to Iowa next year? I would like to come to Iowa. Yeah? Go to Iowa.
• 36:45
I guess the appropriate term. Yeah. Um, we'll see what's going on. I know, um, one thing that may happen is I'm gonna talk to the Clark brothers about maybe-... doing something next year as well.
• 36:55
They've always talked about with us, like maybe doing some sort of Singlespeed New England thing. There should be. And, uh- Yeah, there should be. Yeah, you guys should...
• 37:02
and so, like, some of the big, like, people in the area, like them and us, um, uh, also us, like, thanks to my crackpot team here that helps with the event, who are currently, like, canoodling on the couch.
• 37:14
[laughs] But, um, but yeah, like, if we can get some more stuff going, I think- You guys want a S'more?... you know, COVID has kinda, like, killed us as far as some notoriety here. Yeah.
• 37:23
So we gotta get the, the population of interested people back up. Yeah. You need some? Yeah. Yeah. Um, and, and I think the like- No, and, and, and you, and you guys should because I...
• 37:32
As far as with the Craig Bro- uh, Clark Brothers, those guys, you guys... Craig Brothers? Jesus. Um- Clark Brothers... yeah, uh, you guys should. I mean, you guys seem to have a huge Singlespeed community up here.
• 37:44
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And keep it going. Uh, uh- Well, the Singlespeed Arizona happens every year- Right... regardless of... I mean, is that where it started? Singlespeed USA was the first one was in Arizona?
• 37:53
Well, if I remember right, DJ and the g- the guys in, ah, where was it? It was Arkansas or was it- The first one?... uh, Gearheads or Gear Daddies, whatever that group was that was trying to get...
• 38:06
Like, they were doing a bunch of bike races. They tried to d- start it there, and it failed miserably, and, uh, DJ's been doing Singlespeed Arizona for shits as long as I've known him.
• 38:14
[laughs] And then it turned into Singlespeed USA, and it went from Arizona to- Tennessee or something like that? Uh, no, no, we've been to Boulder, Colorado. Okay.
• 38:22
We've been to, um- I've been to every one since Minnesota- Yeah... and that was 2013, and it came from Vermont. I know that. Yeah, we went Vermont. For a guy who can barely, like, keep his pants on- [laughs]...
• 38:31
and, like, walk straight in a straight line, uh, for him to organize Singlespeed USA- Are we talking about DJ? Yeah. Who are you talking about? Huh?
• 38:38
[laughs] Oh, you were pointing at, you were pointing at Marty, the guy that won the, the belt contest. DJ's probably behind Marty somewhere. I thought, "Wait, Marty's over there with his pants off and a belt on?"
• 38:45
[laughs] Well, that's probably later tonight. We barely know Marty. [laughs] We barely know Marty. He might... Yeah, these, this might be- I was here... these pants could be short-lived. Nobody knows.
• 38:55
[laughs] No, but that'd be cool to see Singlespeed New England and have a, like... You know what I mean?
• 39:00
And, and my, my thing has always been, like, I would, I wouldn't have came to Maine, I wouldn't of came to here to ride- Mm-hmm... vacation unless this race came here. Yep. And now I've seen it, and now I've rode it.
• 39:08
So, and that's what Singlespeed USA has always been to me is if wherever it goes, that's where I'm gonna go and ride it. Yep. And that's usually my vacation for the summer.
• 39:17
And, uh, so I'm glad it came here, and I'm glad... I love the event you put on. I love where we're staying here, um, and all these jackass friends you have that we all got drunk with. [laughs] Yeah.
• 39:27
Thank you all for having us up here, and never fucking talk to me again. [laughs] Friend is a strong word. [laughs] Associate. We're not exactly friends yet. Yeah.
• 39:38
I did, uh, see a couple friends, like, uh, uh, one of my friends me- rented a minivan, and he forgot to put up his tent. And, uh, I woke up this morning to two sets of feet facing the same way- [laughs]...
• 39:47
and them sticking out of the back of his van. I'm like, "You guys became really good friends last night." [laughs] Um, that's, that's all I, that's all I'm, I'm- That's Pat. That's Pat... yeah, that's Pa- uh, Pat's...
• 40:00
Oh, we're not gonna go there. [laughs] I, I, I spent too many weird trips with Pat. Yeah. We had- I said we could end the show five minutes ago. You wanted to do this. [laughs] Yeah. It's all, it's all my fault.
• 40:09
All right. Um, thank you all for coming. Thank you guys for hanging around and listening to us. Um, uh, Greg will get around to posting this probably in about four or five months.
• 40:17
Yeah, 'cause- He doesn't seem to think that we're worth a shit, but sooner or later, I'm gonna have to do this myself, and I'm gonna fuck him over, believe me. Mm-hmm. So again, thank you guys. Um, we're out.
• 40:27
We'll see you in Iowa 2022. Yeah. Woo! Thanks, everybody. Yeah! Yeah. Woo! [laughs] Are we going out?
