- 0:40Speaker 1: Tough lot Tina after a one nil lead, the I
- 0:43Speaker 1: skipped said it's coming home.
- 0:45Speaker 2: It's not coming home.
- 0:46Speaker 1: It's gonna be Artentina or perhaps Spain France upset there
- 0:49Speaker 1: in the World Cup.
- 0:49Speaker 2: We'll get into all that. It's anshell Scripted.
- 0:51Speaker 1: J D.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Natel and me back along for the ride.
- 0:54Speaker 3: JD.
- 0:54Speaker 2: What's it been like atting your Wednesdays back? You will?
- 0:56Speaker 1: We had a week off last week. I was I
- 0:58Speaker 1: just celebrate No One scripted on a Wednesday.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Oh happy day, finally having a Wednesday where I didn't
- 1:03Speaker 4: have to fuck. Can chase you around figuring out what's
- 1:07Speaker 4: the right schedule with you on the East coast, me
- 1:09Speaker 4: on the west coast.
- 1:10Speaker 5: And Nace, I mean if people only knew. You know,
- 1:13Speaker 5: it's not it's list. It's not the end of the world.
- 1:16Speaker 4: But when you're trying to four people are trying to
- 1:18Speaker 4: connect to schedule, is like, it's the hardest thing. I'd
- 1:23Speaker 4: rather try to disarm a nuclear bomb than I have
- 1:25Speaker 4: four people try to figure out their schedule and figure
- 1:28Speaker 4: out an hour that works with a guest.
- 1:29Speaker 5: Once you throw a guest on.
- 1:30Speaker 2: What's you tell the guests in?
- 1:31Speaker 1: Yeah, because people to be in the maestro tell us
- 1:35Speaker 1: it's so easy just recording your basement. It's not the recording.
- 1:38Speaker 1: The recording is fine, it's the logistics that causes the chality. Regardless,
- 1:44Speaker 1: we continue, tell how you been.
- 1:48Speaker 6: I'm well, I'm in New York City this week in
- 1:50Speaker 6: a in a midtown Manhattan hotel where the air conditioning
- 1:53Speaker 6: doesn't work.
- 1:53Speaker 5: So that's yeah, I take New York in the summer.
- 1:58Speaker 6: I feel like the best revenge may be the best
- 2:00Speaker 6: revenge may be calling out the hotel by name on
- 2:03Speaker 6: this podcast.
- 2:03Speaker 5: I'm not trying to.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I mean, if you think about taking it relatively recent innovations.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I feel like air conditions around for thirty years. But
- 2:09Speaker 1: if somebody said you, what are the things you cannot
- 2:11Speaker 1: live about an iPhone, a DVR, air conditioning like air
- 2:15Speaker 1: conditions number one. Like if you said no phone for
- 2:17Speaker 1: I'm like I it'd be hard, There's no question about it.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I'm like, I'll think, no, honey, AC.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Seen all the stuff from the have you seen all
- 2:26Speaker 4: the stuff in the World Cup. We're like the European
- 2:29Speaker 4: people are the European fans are coming over like wait,
- 2:32Speaker 4: you guys have AC in every building.
- 2:36Speaker 5: They don't want to leave.
- 2:37Speaker 2: It's true.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Much of England, it's a great point by Gid. Much
- 2:40Speaker 1: of England does not have air conditionings. It was never
- 2:42Speaker 1: that hot, and now the last ten years, like holy shit,
- 2:44Speaker 1: this is crazy. People are dying in the streets thing
- 2:46Speaker 1: and they hate it.
- 2:47Speaker 2: They love it over here. Air conditionings massive.
- 2:49Speaker 5: You miss it when it's when it's gone, that's for damn.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Sure.
- 2:52Speaker 6: Do you have a fan going there's like a little
- 2:55Speaker 6: air coming in. But we each have our little individual
- 2:58Speaker 6: fans that we've been holding to our heads when we're out.
- 3:01Speaker 5: It's muggy man, it is uh. It is uh.
- 3:04Speaker 6: Sloppy nuts underwear weather and sloppy nuts.
- 3:10Speaker 3: The whole city hot.
- 3:11Speaker 5: They was just there. He knows exactly what I'm talking about.
- 3:13Speaker 2: That's a great point. I told me.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I New York is an all time great city in
- 3:17Speaker 1: the spring and in the fall, and the winter is okay,
- 3:20Speaker 1: spring and falls, you guys know, is six weeks apiece.
- 3:22Speaker 1: But I think New York summer highly overrated. Like it
- 3:24Speaker 1: is just disgusting hot.
- 3:27Speaker 3: It smells, the smells.
- 3:29Speaker 7: I left there this morning and just just like it's
- 3:32Speaker 7: just it's just hot everything hot smell everything hot hot smells,
- 3:35Speaker 7: you know. And like I said, it smells like weed
- 3:38Speaker 7: throughout the whole city because it's so hot, so correct.
- 3:42Speaker 1: The biggest thing I noticed is theyt a weed. I'm like,
- 3:44Speaker 1: this isn't I mean? In answerdam all of a sudden,
- 3:45Speaker 1: it's nuts.
- 3:46Speaker 2: All right, to the hockey we go.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Stevie Baye our favorite ongoing soap opera, The Summer Bains
- 3:51Speaker 1: a Dylan arkinsag and detroits all tell it just took
- 3:53Speaker 1: a new turn of the announcement Wednesday franchise lessons Steve
- 3:56Speaker 1: Eiseman out as general manager, but stay with the team
- 3:59Speaker 1: as senior advisor, which means the Red Wings need a
- 4:01Speaker 1: new GM just two months before training camp, and their
- 4:03Speaker 1: Captain's Dell wants out, Dylan Larker reportedly expanded the list
- 4:06Speaker 1: of teams he would go to by adding Dallas. Well,
- 4:09Speaker 1: the team's most up against the salary capital, a list
- 4:10Speaker 1: that already included Vegas, Minnesota, and Florida. So what happens
- 4:14Speaker 1: now and could a Larka moved to Dallas include Jason Robertson,
- 4:17Speaker 1: who has opted for arbitration with Dallas. Let's do see why.
- 4:20Speaker 1: First JD I thought he's out of my like, wow,
- 4:22Speaker 1: he's out. They find me doing senior advisor. Eh, we've
- 4:25Speaker 1: still got his tentacles in there.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Is this just him being neutered a little bit? Or
- 4:29Speaker 2: is he just taking a different advisory position? What does
- 4:31Speaker 2: this mean to you?
- 4:33Speaker 4: The timing couldn't be worse. I don't know what the
- 4:35Speaker 4: hell Detroit's doing right now. Why at this moment, after
- 4:39Speaker 4: free agency, after the end of the season, now you're
- 4:43Speaker 4: demoting him and it's it's clearly there has to be
- 4:47Speaker 4: some form and some enormous disconnect with Dylan Larkin, his camp,
- 4:53Speaker 4: the ownership management, how it's been handled. Listen, I think
- 4:57Speaker 4: everybody is at fault within that organization. I don't think
- 5:00Speaker 4: it's just Stevie. Why at this point, because listen, I
- 5:02Speaker 4: was talking. You know, is del Larkin a top twenty
- 5:05Speaker 4: player in the NHL, in the top twenty center. But
- 5:09Speaker 4: the way he's handled this as the captain and has
- 5:14Speaker 4: kind of layered a cloud over this team a little bit,
- 5:16Speaker 4: and Stevie Whye could not have handled it worse. But
- 5:20Speaker 4: again we have to remember that like Detroit, the last
- 5:22Speaker 4: three years were firmly in a playoff position, and it's
- 5:25Speaker 4: on the players. It's just as the players are put
- 5:28Speaker 4: on the ice, you got to find a way to
- 5:29Speaker 4: get in. So I don't think it's all him. But again,
- 5:32Speaker 4: why wait to this moment for Illich and that ownership
- 5:36Speaker 4: group to move him down a wrung and you know
- 5:40Speaker 4: where they go from here? I don't know. I'd assume
- 5:43Speaker 4: it's going to be external, because they would have announced
- 5:45Speaker 4: something if it was internal, like a Shan Horkoff has
- 5:47Speaker 4: been there for a long time.
- 5:48Speaker 5: But yeah, I don't like.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Anything that's going on in Detroit, and I feel bad
- 5:53Speaker 4: for that fan base there and New Rink City has
- 5:56Speaker 4: been revamped by the Illich family and the downtown's fantastic
- 6:00Speaker 4: tits and ass everywhere.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and the team sucks, So Nate, why do this
- 6:05Speaker 1: to Eiserman, Like, what is the point If you're gonna
- 6:07Speaker 1: get rid of him, get rid of him, and if
- 6:08Speaker 1: you want himbolden him forever, then do that as well.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I know the elextrim is very close to Isisman, So
- 6:11Speaker 1: I get it. Maybe it's too hard to fire guy,
- 6:13Speaker 1: but then why make the move Anyways?
- 6:15Speaker 7: Well, I look and what it's what Jad said, it's
- 6:18Speaker 7: the Larkin situation. I think that's what's catapulted this whole
- 6:22Speaker 7: situation really with Stevie. Why And I wonder and at
- 6:26Speaker 7: the first, at first, I had the utmost respect for Stevy.
- 6:28Speaker 7: I played under him in Tampa. He built that organization
- 6:31Speaker 7: in a way and all that roster, and he's done
- 6:33Speaker 7: a great job and he's tried to do a good
- 6:36Speaker 7: job here just hasn't worked.
- 6:38Speaker 3: And he's talked about it.
- 6:39Speaker 7: You know, it's been on him, it's been on the players,
- 6:42Speaker 7: and you know, now they're in a situation where I
- 6:45Speaker 7: wonder if you know it was you know, him stepping
- 6:48Speaker 7: down or it was more of like, Okay, this is
- 6:50Speaker 7: a situation where Larkin, we need to go a different
- 6:52Speaker 7: way cause moving forward, whoever GM comes in, I wonder
- 6:56Speaker 7: if it's maybe we're not gonna trade you. Maybe we're
- 6:59Speaker 7: gonna make this work with you. Maybe I'm gonna sit
- 7:01Speaker 7: down with Dylan and be like, hey, we need you here.
- 7:04Speaker 7: You're the apt to this team. We need you part
- 7:05Speaker 7: of this moving forward. And it's crazy to see where
- 7:08Speaker 7: they're at now because you look at you look back
- 7:10Speaker 7: at the beginning of March and where they were at,
- 7:13Speaker 7: and now you look at it and where they're at
- 7:15Speaker 7: in the summertime and maybe possibly without doing Larkin and
- 7:17Speaker 7: know Stevie why, it's it's a shit show there.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Tell how do you see it being resolved?
- 7:24Speaker 5: Well, that's the issue.
- 7:25Speaker 6: I think the longer it went, the less likely it
- 7:27Speaker 6: was to be resolved. Like how many teams have pretty
- 7:29Speaker 6: much set up their roster at this point, Like Florida
- 7:33Speaker 6: was one of the teams that Dylan Larkin put on
- 7:35Speaker 6: his first on his list.
- 7:36Speaker 5: Like they're done, Florida's done making deals right.
- 7:39Speaker 6: I don't see how they could even have the cap
- 7:42Speaker 6: flexibility to do anything. And as far as you know,
- 7:45Speaker 6: kicking Stevie why upstairs? You know, people have to remember
- 7:49Speaker 6: when the Illich family bought the Red Wings in the
- 7:52Speaker 6: eighties and turned the organization in town completely around and
- 7:55Speaker 6: turned the whole city around. One of the first moves
- 7:58Speaker 6: they made when they bought that team was drafting Steve
- 8:00Speaker 6: Eiserman like eighty four, Stevie Why and the Illaches and
- 8:03Speaker 6: Chris Ilich is still in the show.
- 8:04Speaker 5: They're like family there.
- 8:06Speaker 6: They are handcuffed for better or worse, you know, in perpetuity,
- 8:10Speaker 6: so they can't really fire him. They'll give him a
- 8:12Speaker 6: cushy advisory role. But you know, I think they feel
- 8:15Speaker 6: he probably missed you know, this is my own take.
- 8:17Speaker 6: They feel he misplayed this and now it's probably too
- 8:20Speaker 6: late to do anything before the season starts and there's
- 8:23Speaker 6: no big blockbuster coming between now and mid September.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Could Dallas happen? JD? Could Dallas Robertson happen? Is there anyway?
- 8:31Speaker 5: I think so?
- 8:32Speaker 4: But I what I've heard is that, you know, Stevie
- 8:36Speaker 4: Why is waiting and he's not going to trade Lark
- 8:38Speaker 4: and unless it's like the best possible deal ever.
- 8:42Speaker 5: So it's kind of funny.
- 8:43Speaker 4: That he's you know, we talked about it and I've
- 8:46Speaker 4: kind of been kicking around. I'm like, at what point
- 8:48Speaker 4: are the gm IS going to push back on these
- 8:51Speaker 4: star players? Saying that, hey, you know you sign a
- 8:54Speaker 4: no movement clause because one you earn it, but two
- 8:58Speaker 4: you protect yourself because you're telling an ownership group and
- 9:01Speaker 4: you're telling a team and a franchise. I want to
- 9:03Speaker 4: be here for the foreseeable future. Now things can happen,
- 9:07Speaker 4: and you know, relationships can sour, but you signed that
- 9:10Speaker 4: no move clause knowing that you're gonna be there and
- 9:14Speaker 4: you want to be there. So now that these players
- 9:16Speaker 4: have started using this and weaponizing it, I think gms
- 9:20Speaker 4: are now going to be like, no, no, no, fuck that shit,
- 9:22Speaker 4: like you're not you're not allowed to get a no
- 9:24Speaker 4: move clause and then tell me when you want out.
- 9:26Speaker 4: It's used as protection for the player, not as a weapon.
- 9:30Speaker 4: So you know, I think Stevie why telling them like
- 9:33Speaker 4: we're gon, we're gonna strip you, and you're just playing
- 9:35Speaker 4: until we get a deal. And if we don't find
- 9:37Speaker 4: a deal, you better play your ass off because otherwise
- 9:39Speaker 4: the worse you play, the lesser is going to be
- 9:42Speaker 4: a chance for us to get a great deal.
- 9:44Speaker 5: So it's kind of like, all right, let's see what
- 9:46Speaker 5: you can do. So I like that Stevie White called
- 9:49Speaker 5: his bluff.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm laughing.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I'm laughing because I'm like, I'm generally pro player, but
- 9:54Speaker 1: I kind of like Stevie, why stick it to a
- 9:55Speaker 1: little bit Nate, Like, I'm kind of.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Like, you know what.
- 9:57Speaker 1: But always I'm like, guys should get paid. You guys
- 10:00Speaker 1: earned it, you work your ass, And I totally get
- 10:01Speaker 1: you want to go, I tellgat, but I'm like, you
- 10:03Speaker 1: know what, I got, like like the lark and like
- 10:05Speaker 1: you can just settle down, dude.
- 10:06Speaker 3: I totally agree that this is this is the part.
- 10:09Speaker 7: This is the part that really is a stink part
- 10:11Speaker 7: of it for me, where he only gives the three
- 10:13Speaker 7: teams and then Dallas and that's it, where like you,
- 10:16Speaker 7: like JD says, he weaponizes his no move where it's like,
- 10:19Speaker 7: come on, man, you gotta give more teams. That it's unrealistic.
- 10:22Speaker 7: All those teams are set. You know what their cap
- 10:23Speaker 7: situation is. All these players know that. They know that.
- 10:27Speaker 7: For so for him to be that narrow minded with
- 10:30Speaker 7: the just three or four teams and not open it
- 10:32Speaker 7: up and give Stevie Why a better chance to make
- 10:34Speaker 7: the deal and make their team better when he's the captain,
- 10:37Speaker 7: I mean, JD said he's handled it just as bad
- 10:40Speaker 7: as Stevie. Why has no doubt about it.
- 10:43Speaker 1: So, speaking of handling things, somemoimes, you're gonna just roll
- 10:45Speaker 1: the dice man, go out there and just give it
- 10:47Speaker 1: a shot. Danny Breer had Flowers fans in the edge
- 10:50Speaker 1: of just full excitement. Oh my god, Leo Carlson five years,
- 10:53Speaker 1: ninety million, twenty one years of age.
- 10:56Speaker 2: This guy's gonna get eighteen million a year.
- 10:57Speaker 1: And Nate, you know the Flyers need a one sea
- 10:59Speaker 1: and the worst way this guy's gonna come in thirty
- 11:00Speaker 1: goals a season. Oh my god, the Flowers got their superstar.
- 11:03Speaker 1: They're gonna make Jason Deamaer's looks stupid. JD said the
- 11:05Speaker 1: Flyers are gonna have a bad off season. They're not
- 11:07Speaker 1: gonna make the Flats. Are gona get Leo Carlson. Eh,
- 11:09Speaker 1: nothing happened. Man Ducks matched it. Patper BIKSI, No, we
- 11:12Speaker 1: got you like we don't need your four first round
- 11:14Speaker 1: picks and we're gonna stick with this. Utah also match
- 11:17Speaker 1: in New Jersey's one year offer sheet for center Bart
- 11:19Speaker 1: Hayton and so Billy tried to sabotage the Anaheim's cap.
- 11:22Speaker 1: And you know, maybe there's some issues there. The Ducks
- 11:23Speaker 1: lost four defenseman. They still designed Cutter goach 's an
- 11:26Speaker 1: RFA coming up a forty one goal season. But the
- 11:28Speaker 1: bottom line, and I hate to give JD credit night,
- 11:31Speaker 1: but the Flyers trying to make a big move and didn't.
- 11:33Speaker 1: And now the off season is you re signed Bladar,
- 11:37Speaker 1: you resigned Forrester.
- 11:38Speaker 2: You still don't have a one C. You didn't make
- 11:40Speaker 2: any big moves like like, nice job. Danny didn't prove
- 11:43Speaker 2: the roster though. That's a whiff to me.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Oh w yeah it is, and I think it was.
- 11:50Speaker 7: It was expected to be a whiff. I think if
- 11:52Speaker 7: you're looking at Leo Carlson and he's better than the
- 11:56Speaker 7: four first rounders or maybe five in the next four
- 11:59Speaker 7: or five years. But that's how good this guy is.
- 12:01Speaker 7: That's the reason why Danny Danny B made that made
- 12:03Speaker 7: that offer sheet. And kudos to uh my old agent,
- 12:07Speaker 7: my old agent for a long time, Matt Cater and
- 12:09Speaker 7: Ryan Cater, his son, who did a damn pretty damn
- 12:12Speaker 7: pretty good job. I'm sure you guys listen to thirty
- 12:14Speaker 7: two thoughts with Elliott and in the UH in the
- 12:16Speaker 7: interview and and and how it transpired and everything that happened.
- 12:20Speaker 7: So you know, for Philly, they are they're they're they're
- 12:24Speaker 7: back against the wall, I guess. But at the same time,
- 12:27Speaker 7: you know, they're growing their building. You know, they're in
- 12:30Speaker 7: a situation where they were playing with house money last year.
- 12:34Speaker 3: You know.
- 12:34Speaker 7: So it's it is, it's it is a big whiff.
- 12:37Speaker 7: Like you said, but but but but Anaheim, I think
- 12:40Speaker 7: this is you know, I think it was inevitable. If
- 12:43Speaker 7: it wasn't Leo, it was gonna be somebody else.
- 12:46Speaker 3: But I think no matter.
- 12:47Speaker 2: What, fifteen insteads eighteen just too much and JD.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Now for the flyers, hey better make sure there's no
- 12:52Speaker 1: RF faced people want out there. Hey when Porter Martne
- 12:54Speaker 1: wats twelve millionaire, better pay up, buddy, because something's gonna
- 12:57Speaker 1: get you back.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Now.
- 12:59Speaker 5: I love it.
- 13:01Speaker 4: I've been calling for this for like two years now,
- 13:03Speaker 4: or I think GM it needs to be the wild
- 13:05Speaker 4: West here, like no hard feelings.
- 13:07Speaker 5: Business is business.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Now.
- 13:09Speaker 4: When I first saw that that deal, I was like,
- 13:14Speaker 4: you know, I thought that if Anaheim accepted it, they
- 13:19Speaker 4: were screwed. I still think they're screwed. I think they're
- 13:21Speaker 4: fucking up shit Creek because again, we just heard on
- 13:25Speaker 4: I just listened to Spitting Chicklets and keith Yandle said
- 13:28Speaker 4: he heard Cutter Gotz will not take a cent under
- 13:30Speaker 4: eighteen million, So they're done.
- 13:32Speaker 5: Cutter's Cutter's gone.
- 13:34Speaker 4: So Cutter's gone, or they're signing him, and they're going
- 13:37Speaker 4: to have two players and a bunch of fourth liners.
- 13:40Speaker 4: I might be able to go back and play there
- 13:41Speaker 4: for minimum, but which.
- 13:43Speaker 2: As you guys don't.
- 13:44Speaker 1: And I know, just to get context again, Cutter GoChi
- 13:46Speaker 1: did not want to play for the Flyers. They trade
- 13:47Speaker 1: him the Ducks or Jamie Drysdale, Who's fine, he's the
- 13:49Speaker 1: top four defense.
- 13:50Speaker 2: He's not here. Yeah, they stick it to the Ducks
- 13:52Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Yeah, but Philly now, and listen, tidy piece of work
- 13:58Speaker 4: by Pat Verbeek because he had to sign it. I
- 14:02Speaker 4: think he was stuck. To Nate's point, but him waiting
- 14:06Speaker 4: till the final hour, Philly couldn't do anything else. They
- 14:09Speaker 4: couldn't go and sign somebody because they're like, well, we
- 14:12Speaker 4: need to know if our caps it's not.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Philly's fucked.
- 14:15Speaker 4: So now it's kind of like this, this like back
- 14:18Speaker 4: and forth, and I think, listen, do I think it's yeah,
- 14:21Speaker 4: take a swing. That's great by Philly, but like, come on, like,
- 14:25Speaker 4: come on, like like at least sign him. And then after,
- 14:29Speaker 4: like once we're like a week away, maybe start looking
- 14:32Speaker 4: at other options and trying to you know, pay somebody.
- 14:34Speaker 4: Maybe go after Dylan Larkin if that's what you're trying
- 14:37Speaker 4: to do. But I think Philly's in trouble. I think
- 14:40Speaker 4: Anaheim's in trouble. I was surprised even at the Utah signing,
- 14:44Speaker 4: but I think Utah is really I think Utah matching
- 14:48Speaker 4: Barret Hayden is understanding that they're going for it this year,
- 14:53Speaker 4: and I think now they have really good center depth
- 14:55Speaker 4: and they're like, hey, listen, no matter how good or
- 14:57Speaker 4: bad Barret Hayton is. And I know Hates has kind
- 15:00Speaker 4: of dealt with some injury stuff. They're like, we're gonna
- 15:02Speaker 4: need center depth to go in along run, and you
- 15:05Speaker 4: know it's hard to find those guys. So I like
- 15:08Speaker 4: the resigning of Hates. They can't trade him for a
- 15:10Speaker 4: year or anything. But yeah, going back to Philly, I
- 15:13Speaker 4: think they're absolutely hooped and so is Anaheim.
- 15:16Speaker 5: Two hoops teams.
- 15:18Speaker 3: I want to go to Anaheim. I'm I'm gonna play
- 15:20Speaker 3: Devil's advocate.
- 15:21Speaker 7: If if, like say Cutter signs for eighteen as well,
- 15:26Speaker 7: no signs for eighteen or seventeen eighteen, it's gonna be
- 15:31Speaker 7: it's gonna be the same situation in Minnesota. They're going
- 15:34Speaker 7: to be in the same situation. Yeah, with Faber, you
- 15:36Speaker 7: mean and Hughes, with Hughes and CAPRICEO. So, I like,
- 15:41Speaker 7: is Anaheim still gonna be okay? Where you know, the
- 15:44Speaker 7: CAP's going up. All these guys are going to be
- 15:46Speaker 7: making over fifteen in the next couple of years.
- 15:49Speaker 3: It's gonna that's gonna be the norm.
- 15:51Speaker 7: And I think Leo Carlson, I mean, he's this guy
- 15:54Speaker 7: is he's a legit, bona fide superstar.
- 15:57Speaker 3: He's going to be and I think in five or
- 16:00Speaker 3: six years, I know right now it.
- 16:02Speaker 5: Is he saying. He's saying, X, this deal is gonna
- 16:05Speaker 5: look good.
- 16:05Speaker 3: It's gonna look good.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Tell how about like in the NFL first round picks,
- 16:10Speaker 1: You're like, well, that's like a fifty percent chance the
- 16:11Speaker 1: guy's gonna be like a star tight end, like that's
- 16:13Speaker 1: the first one pick is very valuable in hockey.
- 16:15Speaker 6: You go maybe definitely, yeah, definitely more of a crap
- 16:18Speaker 6: shoot I think. I mean, Pat Verbeek's had a pretty
- 16:20Speaker 6: good record drafting in Anaheim. And the only other thing
- 16:23Speaker 6: I was gonna add to this is they got Beckett
- 16:25Speaker 6: Seneca was going to be an RFA in twenty twenty eight.
- 16:28Speaker 6: And if Pat Verbeek does the same thing with him
- 16:30Speaker 6: and waits till the last minute to get that deal done,
- 16:33Speaker 6: Ducks fans are gonna lose their mind. Like, Beckett Seneca
- 16:36Speaker 6: better get his extension figured out next summer or the fall,
- 16:39Speaker 6: next fall at the absolute latest.
- 16:41Speaker 5: They can't let they can't let him.
- 16:43Speaker 6: They can't go through the exact same stuff with Beckett
- 16:45Speaker 6: Seneca that they're now going through with Carlson and coach.
- 16:48Speaker 5: I love that they came out and they're like, we
- 16:51Speaker 5: love our decoor.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Yeah that was you.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Lost four defense. Love what we got right.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Now right side.
- 16:57Speaker 4: I love at seven point two million a year is listen,
- 17:04Speaker 4: we at it before. I'm a player spot. I love
- 17:06Speaker 4: when guys get paid. But oh my god, did he
- 17:09Speaker 4: absolutely rob Pat Verbeek. Seven point two million for five
- 17:13Speaker 4: years is crazy for a guy that hasn't played over
- 17:16Speaker 4: sixteen minutes a night.
- 17:18Speaker 7: Well, you heard what I think in that deal that
- 17:21Speaker 7: I believe. This is what I've heard is that they
- 17:24Speaker 7: were around the three million range when they were negotiating,
- 17:27Speaker 7: and then the Leo Carlson thing and it went to seven.
- 17:30Speaker 5: Great job by the agent, like.
- 17:32Speaker 3: That job by all the agents.
- 17:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I don't like, they're gonna have to trade.
- 17:37Speaker 4: They're gonna have to trade Crider or Kilarn or both
- 17:41Speaker 4: of them.
- 17:42Speaker 3: They might have to.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Trade Troy Terry. You might have to move Troy Terry,
- 17:46Speaker 4: which I think, you know, four years at seven million. Honestly,
- 17:49Speaker 4: that could free up the cap space. I'd moved Troy Terry,
- 17:52Speaker 4: try to bring in somebody else, or you move Crider
- 17:55Speaker 4: and kill I mean.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean one of them, one of them has
- 17:58Speaker 3: to go. But no matter what, one of them has
- 18:00Speaker 3: to go.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Will say, I'm always taking a really good luck what
- 18:04Speaker 1: tal puts for the headline for each episode. So, for example,
- 18:07Speaker 1: the put Keaton Verahoff is ready breaking down a wild
- 18:10Speaker 1: weekerd phraseency He'll put Jackson Blake as a champ, Brady
- 18:13Speaker 1: joins his bro Catherine Tappan does it all at least
- 18:15Speaker 1: higher Hiller Hurricane season Baby. The reason I mentioned this
- 18:19Speaker 1: is my recommendation for this week's episode should.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Be two hooped teams. I just think I think that
- 18:25Speaker 2: should be the headline.
- 18:26Speaker 1: And quite honestly, if I saw that, I would click
- 18:28Speaker 1: on just my suggestion.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Yeah, two my former teams too. Yeah, we call that
- 18:36Speaker 4: for Loube, we call that a shit sandwich. Troy Terry out.
- 18:40Speaker 6: For another five or six months, by the way, speaking
- 18:42Speaker 6: of trading toy term, So that's gonna be tough.
- 18:46Speaker 5: It's a great start for them next season.
- 18:49Speaker 1: This is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen
- 18:51Speaker 1: in my life. Meet the Dundon's Danny Breer, Pat ver Beek.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Not only people ashall Taken heat. The engraved names are
- 18:56Speaker 1: killing Hurricane staff and players. Recently unveiled grave for Hurricanes
- 19:00Speaker 1: are Tom Dundon, who JD is as polarizing as against
- 19:02Speaker 1: people go. He's really smart guy Blazers fans not crazy
- 19:05Speaker 1: about him. A little tight fisted, but they did win.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Now he puts his name in the cup, of course,
- 19:09Speaker 1: did you the owner of the team, you pay the bills?
- 19:10Speaker 2: Please your wife Rushka. I guess behind every great man,
- 19:14Speaker 2: there's a great woman. Fair five children.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Hanging a second Cayden, Dax, Drew, Blake and Taken all
- 19:22Speaker 1: had their names and graved in the cup.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Now, to their credit, they did make sure to include
- 19:26Speaker 2: the great Nick de.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Laurier love them Let's Go Flyers, even though he played
- 19:29Speaker 1: barely three minutes in their entire playoff run. But Jadie,
- 19:33Speaker 1: this is about as week as it gets if you
- 19:35Speaker 1: if you want know the headline for you week saw
- 19:37Speaker 1: us five kids engraved on the cup.
- 19:40Speaker 2: That is shameful.
- 19:42Speaker 4: Yeah, this is kind of a can you call this?
- 19:46Speaker 4: Can you call the nepotism or I mean this is
- 19:49Speaker 4: kind of those you know, it's an owner that without
- 19:53Speaker 4: the owner, you know, there is no team and there
- 19:55Speaker 4: is no franchise. But again that's the owner, not his
- 19:59Speaker 4: kids that are what's the youngest.
- 20:01Speaker 7: Like four?
- 20:02Speaker 2: Yeah, like four?
- 20:04Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 20:05Speaker 4: Was he the inspiration in the muse for for building
- 20:09Speaker 4: this franchise. There's just so many other people that and
- 20:12Speaker 4: it does take a village to win a Stanley Cup.
- 20:14Speaker 4: And you know, I haven't won one, but you know,
- 20:16Speaker 4: talking to guys around the league and stuff like that, Like,
- 20:19Speaker 4: I don't know, there's been other teams that have done
- 20:22Speaker 4: it in franchises, but I don't know. I just I
- 20:24Speaker 4: think you got to put it that there's the little
- 20:26Speaker 4: people behind the scenes that do so much, Like come on,
- 20:29Speaker 4: like you can figure you can find four names that
- 20:33Speaker 4: aren't those kids that contributed probably as much as is
- 20:39Speaker 4: or more than some of the players on the roster.
- 20:43Speaker 2: They love Wilder more than anything the world. Your lovely daughter.
- 20:45Speaker 1: You would never in a million years, if you.
- 20:48Speaker 2: No, you will, I'll do it. You got the Stanley Cup.
- 20:52Speaker 3: There's not a chance, not a chance, no chance.
- 20:57Speaker 5: That put my daughter on there. In a fucking second.
- 21:00Speaker 7: That is the biggest zero fox given move I've ever seen.
- 21:04Speaker 3: To put it was two rows of Dundon's. That's all
- 21:07Speaker 3: I saw was Dunded, Dundonne Dunded, Like.
- 21:10Speaker 7: Maybe just do Dunded family, Just put this, leave it
- 21:12Speaker 7: at that that, you know, Dundon family.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Family.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Do you guys sacrifice life and limb for decades of
- 21:19Speaker 1: your line for one chance with your name of the
- 21:21Speaker 1: Stanley Cup?
- 21:22Speaker 2: And you're telling me some rich owner is gonna put
- 21:24Speaker 2: his kids names. You're like, yeah, I get it.
- 21:27Speaker 4: You go, yeah, but if you go and ask him,
- 21:29Speaker 4: he'd probably say, hey, how about you buy the team?
- 21:32Speaker 5: Then yeah, exactly, he's got to get the fuck I want.
- 21:35Speaker 4: All right, listen, we're we're also paid handsomely to do
- 21:39Speaker 4: that job. And it's a it's a kid's game, and
- 21:41Speaker 4: it's you know, the fans are why. You know, I
- 21:45Speaker 4: truly believe that the fans that are coming out are
- 21:47Speaker 4: the reason why we get paid what we get because
- 21:49Speaker 4: it's a takes a whole village for we're the end
- 21:52Speaker 4: product of, you know, of so much planning and prodding.
- 21:55Speaker 4: But again, ownership, there's somebody that doesn't want to shell
- 21:58Speaker 4: out one point five Billy. Yeah, I mean he wants
- 22:02Speaker 4: to put his kid on the on the thing. I
- 22:03Speaker 4: mean said, do I condone it?
- 22:05Speaker 3: No, but he has every rate.
- 22:08Speaker 5: You're right, I kind of love it's something you don't.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Agree with it, you gotta love it.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I get it. Very contrarion Yeah, me to. The Capitals
- 22:16Speaker 2: had a great offseason.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Addition to Jordan cayru Boone Jenner, Alex Tuck really started
- 22:20Speaker 1: their summer last week. Though captain Alex Ovechkan announced can
- 22:23Speaker 1: be returning to the Caps at least one more season,
- 22:25Speaker 1: solidifying might be the best top.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Nine forward unit in the league.
- 22:28Speaker 1: He marked the occasion by surprising a drinking club in Russia.
- 22:31Speaker 5: What a surprise.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Enjoying some bruise at the fans. What can we expect
- 22:35Speaker 2: Nate from OVI in his twenty second season. He'll enter
- 22:38Speaker 2: the season.
- 22:38Speaker 1: With nine hundred and twenty nine career goals. I don't
- 22:41Speaker 1: think he gets to one thousand. I think I thought
- 22:43Speaker 1: that like a year ago, and Jedd he was like,
- 22:44Speaker 1: no chance. And I'm with team JD on that. But
- 22:47Speaker 1: what Bruce Pado said to me date was you put
- 22:49Speaker 1: Alaso Vechlin's name in the lineup.
- 22:50Speaker 2: That's thirty five goals. Like period.
- 22:52Speaker 1: You can say what you want as far as a
- 22:54Speaker 1: liability to our foot player defensively, he has to hog
- 22:57Speaker 1: time in the power play like it's a big deal.
- 22:59Speaker 2: But that's thirty five goals. Good to go.
- 23:01Speaker 7: That's what I was gonna say. I was gonna say
- 23:02Speaker 7: it was automatic thirty. Probably around thirty goals.
- 23:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd go thirty or thirty five, Bruce.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd say right around twenty five thirty.
- 23:10Speaker 7: But I would say he's he's going to be on
- 23:11Speaker 7: the power play, he's going to be in his spot,
- 23:13Speaker 7: he's going to play in that top six. He might
- 23:15Speaker 7: have even play in the third line because their third line
- 23:17Speaker 7: is that good too. So I think it's going to
- 23:19Speaker 7: be the same Alexander Rovechkin were used to me, I'm
- 23:21Speaker 7: sure he's gonna be used differently like he was last
- 23:23Speaker 7: season with what the no defensive zone face offs and
- 23:27Speaker 7: uh situational play with whatever that whatever the game is
- 23:30Speaker 7: that and they need certain players on the ice.
- 23:33Speaker 3: But I think Ovi's gonna be OVI.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Ah, yeah, listen, I we got to we got to
- 23:40Speaker 4: interview Spencer Carby on HL tonight, and like two three
- 23:43Speaker 4: weeks ago, I think before OVI came back, and he
- 23:47Speaker 4: was he was talking to us and he's like, I
- 23:48Speaker 4: was like, if you talked to Ovi? And I think
- 23:50Speaker 4: Tony Lefton asked him if you talk to Ovie at all?
- 23:52Speaker 4: And he's like, yeah, I just he checks in like
- 23:54Speaker 4: once a week, be like, hey, what's up, coach, hows
- 23:55Speaker 4: everything going? And every time, you know, he'd he kept
- 23:59Speaker 4: telling Carby like yeah, I'm training, working out this and that,
- 24:02Speaker 4: and so you know, I'm shocked. I was fully convinced
- 24:07Speaker 4: he was done. I gotta eat Crow. I've been wrong
- 24:09Speaker 4: about him every single turn. I think for three years
- 24:13Speaker 4: they said he won't go over thirty goals. I've been
- 24:15Speaker 4: wrong every single year. And then I said he's going
- 24:17Speaker 4: to retire. I've been wrong. I don't know what to
- 24:20Speaker 4: make ov. This team's gonna be fun to watch. I
- 24:22Speaker 4: think it's gonna be one A, one B. Carolina in
- 24:24Speaker 4: them and even talking to carvery like he seemed so
- 24:28Speaker 4: excited to have so much, you know, I want to say,
- 24:33Speaker 4: so many different kinds of player in his top nine
- 24:37Speaker 4: to kind of maneuver and he's like, I can't wait
- 24:40Speaker 4: to put lines together. Like he's got the speed of
- 24:42Speaker 4: Cairou now that he hasn't had. He has the kind
- 24:45Speaker 4: of Alex Tuck side of power, another power forward. You
- 24:49Speaker 4: obviously you have Wilson and the Protus brothers. You know
- 24:51Speaker 4: they're going to be extremely extremely fun to watch. And yeah,
- 24:56Speaker 4: this is a team that I expect big things from
- 24:58Speaker 4: this year.
- 25:00Speaker 6: Full season of Cole Hudson too. I just want to
- 25:02Speaker 6: add that, a full season of Cole Hudson on the back.
- 25:04Speaker 3: And PLD PLD as well.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Yeah, hit grip, mean time is Russia back?
- 25:10Speaker 1: Speaking of OWI big news last week at the International
- 25:12Speaker 1: Olympic Committee lifted the suspension. The Russian Olympic Committee opened
- 25:16Speaker 1: the door for Russian athletes to compete for their country
- 25:18Speaker 1: at the twenty thirty Winter Olympics in their French Alps.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Canadian Olympic Committee objected the move. No word from the
- 25:24Speaker 1: NHL yet and if Russia could be included in the
- 25:26Speaker 1: World Cup schedule for twenty twenty eight, Obi will be
- 25:29Speaker 1: forty two at the time of that tournament. Hasn't committed
- 25:31Speaker 1: internacity for Russia since twenty nineteen. I'm gonna say I
- 25:36Speaker 1: doubt he captains the Russian team, although never seen. Every
- 25:38Speaker 1: of these guys do certainly love Mother Russia. And I
- 25:40Speaker 1: know it's complicated in terms of geopolitics, invasion of Ukraine,
- 25:43Speaker 1: they shouldn't be allowed to compete, et cetera. But I'll
- 25:45Speaker 1: say this, I like hockey when the best teams are involved,
- 25:49Speaker 1: and I just again, I'm not gonna involved in the politics.
- 25:51Speaker 1: I just like seeing when the best players are there.
- 25:53Speaker 1: To me, it always fe a little empty when Russia
- 25:55Speaker 1: was not there. JD played in Russia. He knows their
- 25:57Speaker 1: passion for hockey, et cetera. I just liked the move
- 25:59Speaker 1: as a hockey fan. Is that okay to say.
- 26:01Speaker 7: Nate one hundred percent and conceivably, I mean, you look
- 26:04Speaker 7: at the three best goaltenders that arguably in the league
- 26:08Speaker 7: are all Russian and you know Sorokian, Vasilevsky, Shakin, and
- 26:13Speaker 7: then you have their forward lineup and all their guys,
- 26:16Speaker 7: and you think about, you know, four nations. You think
- 26:18Speaker 7: about the Olympics, and you think about what if you
- 26:20Speaker 7: add Russia into this, like it's a different tournament, completely
- 26:23Speaker 7: different tournament. And now that they're back in and you
- 26:25Speaker 7: mentioned Ov, I mean, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna
- 26:29Speaker 7: doubt Ov.
- 26:29Speaker 3: I'm playing until he's forty two.
- 26:31Speaker 7: And who knows, I could see Ovi being done after
- 26:34Speaker 7: next year, going back, playing a year in Russia and
- 26:36Speaker 7: then joining the Olympic team. I could see that happening too. So, uh,
- 26:39Speaker 7: this is this is good. This is good for the league,
- 26:41Speaker 7: good for the players. And you know that you know
- 26:42Speaker 7: other you know, the other nations, they want to play
- 26:44Speaker 7: against Russia, they want to play against the other best players.
- 26:47Speaker 3: JD.
- 26:47Speaker 1: You're the only one of us who spent meaningful time
- 26:49Speaker 1: in Russia. What does this mean to you?
- 26:53Speaker 5: So that's a matsa ball, right.
- 26:55Speaker 4: This is a ninety percent of the guys on that
- 26:57Speaker 4: roster live and play in the United States of America.
- 27:01Speaker 4: So you know, I feel like it's I've always felt
- 27:04Speaker 4: that punishing, you know, punishing players in people, and you know,
- 27:09Speaker 4: I call it regular people that are just trying to
- 27:12Speaker 4: live their life day to day. You know, ninety nine
- 27:14Speaker 4: percent of us on planet Earth don't want war. It's
- 27:17Speaker 4: government stuff. It's government, like you said, it's true political stuff.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Hockey should rise above that. Soul should all sport. It
- 27:26Speaker 4: should be a place to unite everybody. And you know,
- 27:30Speaker 4: it's a little callous and it's a little arrogant to
- 27:32Speaker 4: kind of block one country when you know, then we
- 27:36Speaker 4: start going g politically. Every country has its faults, every
- 27:38Speaker 4: country does bad things. You know, this is bad as well.
- 27:42Speaker 4: But again it's not the players. These guys you talk
- 27:45Speaker 4: to any single Russian citizen, Russian player.
- 27:48Speaker 5: None of them want war. Nobody does.
- 27:50Speaker 4: We just want to live our life, make some paper,
- 27:52Speaker 4: make love to a beautiful woman or man if that's
- 27:54Speaker 4: what you're into, and go home and go to sleep
- 27:58Speaker 4: and take care of our families.
- 27:59Speaker 5: And that's it.
- 28:00Speaker 4: So it's like it's kind of you know, to me,
- 28:03Speaker 4: I'm like they should have and the fact that, like
- 28:06Speaker 4: I said, they're all they all live here, they all
- 28:08Speaker 4: live in Miami, So go to Golden Aisles in Florida.
- 28:12Speaker 4: Every single NHL Russian players there. I skated with twelve
- 28:16Speaker 4: of them that are probably going to be on Team Russia.
- 28:18Speaker 4: These guys are just living you mean, they're they're living
- 28:22Speaker 4: on the beach in Florida. They love living in the States.
- 28:25Speaker 4: And it's not the States and it's not America that
- 28:27Speaker 4: makes a decision. It's the i HF for you know,
- 28:30Speaker 4: the governing body of that. But again, to me, I
- 28:33Speaker 4: don't know, it's a little bit of the pot calling
- 28:34Speaker 4: the kettle black.
- 28:35Speaker 5: So but you know, it is what it is.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and this twel those as we're both Piganora fans.
- 28:41Speaker 1: A lot of Russians are in Brooklyn. Those guys are
- 28:42Speaker 1: getting after the headquarters right now as we speak, so
- 28:44Speaker 1: they'll be excited and write a party when we come back.
- 28:47Speaker 1: It's the mid section of the podcast. No guests, we
- 28:49Speaker 1: don't need it. There's still lots of free agents out.
- 28:51Speaker 1: There's a lot of plug in where some of these
- 28:53Speaker 1: guys are going to go. Let's coming up next here
- 28:55Speaker 1: on NHL unscripted. Most of the big names off the board.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Anthony Mantha did just son a two year deal in
- 29:09Speaker 1: New Jersey for a nine point five million Mantha coming
- 29:12Speaker 1: off a thirty three goal season in Pittsburgh playing primarily
- 29:15Speaker 1: with him, getting Malcolm now could get a chance to
- 29:16Speaker 1: ride shot him with Jack Hughes thoughts in the move
- 29:19Speaker 1: for the Devil's JAD He talked earlier about Barret Hayton nap,
- 29:21Speaker 1: But what do you think about Mantha to New Jersey?
- 29:23Speaker 3: I like it.
- 29:24Speaker 7: I like that Sunny Mana went out and got Anthonymantha,
- 29:27Speaker 7: big body. I think they need some size up front.
- 29:30Speaker 7: They you know, they're not a huge group up front,
- 29:32Speaker 7: and right now they got him slought on the second
- 29:34Speaker 7: line with Jack Hughes and yesper Brad on a daily face. Yes,
- 29:37Speaker 7: So I think it's gonna be a good fit. And
- 29:39Speaker 7: you know, Anthony Mantha had a really good season last
- 29:41Speaker 7: year obviously, and he's been a guy. He's always been
- 29:43Speaker 7: a guy that's underachieved for me, Like he even when
- 29:45Speaker 7: he was in Detroit and those other things, he had
- 29:47Speaker 7: all this ability and just never really it never really
- 29:50Speaker 7: came out to the forefront. And then last year in
- 29:52Speaker 7: Pittsburgh he was so good and you saw it and
- 29:54Speaker 7: you saw his size, and you know he's.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Actually sneaky tough too.
- 29:56Speaker 7: So like this guy has a lot of different intangibles
- 29:59Speaker 7: that I think are gonna help New Jersey. I think
- 30:01Speaker 7: I think it's a really good, really good pickup.
- 30:04Speaker 4: He's uh, he's the greatest player on last year of
- 30:09Speaker 4: his deal in the NHL history. He's fantastic. You get
- 30:13Speaker 4: him on last year of his deal, He's unbelievable. So
- 30:15Speaker 4: this year, I don't know how great it's gonna be.
- 30:17Speaker 4: But next year, New Jersey Devil fans.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Stult to a guy you're seeing his only motivated when
- 30:21Speaker 1: he's molney on the table.
- 30:22Speaker 7: I mean I did that a couple of times too.
- 30:24Speaker 7: I mean, I'll do that, aren't.
- 30:27Speaker 4: We look at his deals? Go tell go through his deals?
- 30:32Speaker 4: Hit the last year of his contract. He is a
- 30:34Speaker 4: fucking dog. So this year probably not. Sometimes maybe we'll
- 30:39Speaker 4: see if I tell.
- 30:40Speaker 5: You what next year.
- 30:42Speaker 4: Come next year, twenty five thirty goals and Jersey's in
- 30:46Speaker 4: the playoffs. But sorry, New Jersey Devil's fans might be
- 30:49Speaker 4: tough sledding this year.
- 30:51Speaker 2: But I love it both called big body love it.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I like that stud. He went two years, then didn't
- 30:55Speaker 2: want to go three years. He would have mail hit
- 30:56Speaker 2: him for two years, should.
- 30:58Speaker 4: Have went one year deal, he would have been. Anthony
- 31:00Speaker 4: Manthon a one year deal is a dangerous man.
- 31:02Speaker 2: So truly it's a one year, nine point five million
- 31:05Speaker 2: dollar tail.
- 31:06Speaker 1: You're telling me if he lights it up that second year,
- 31:08Speaker 1: he'll be worth that nine million.
- 31:09Speaker 2: All right, best remaining free agents.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Take a quick look at some of these names on
- 31:12Speaker 1: the board. Thoughts on this duet here JD. Patrick, Kane,
- 31:16Speaker 1: Vladimir Tarasenko. You're gonna play a spot where those guys
- 31:19Speaker 1: could end up.
- 31:20Speaker 4: Oh, man, you know, Tarasenko is interesting one. You know,
- 31:26Speaker 4: I think he's gonna wait to see I They're probably
- 31:28Speaker 4: both way. I bet you Caane and Tarasenko both waiting
- 31:30Speaker 4: for each other to see where that one goes, you know,
- 31:34Speaker 4: to maybe set the market for them. But you know,
- 31:38Speaker 4: Kaner is an interesting one. You know, it's gonna be
- 31:42Speaker 4: in one of those top five teams. I don't see
- 31:44Speaker 4: him going to Colorado. You know, Utah doesn't really need him. Yeah,
- 31:48Speaker 4: I don't know, not that I put Utah on the
- 31:49Speaker 4: top five, but Minnesota. Maybe Zukuerello's gone. Maybe Kaner goes
- 31:56Speaker 4: to Mini, maybe goes to Buffalo, maybe he goes home.
- 31:58Speaker 5: You know.
- 31:59Speaker 4: So you know there's a couple of places that I
- 32:01Speaker 4: had thought of, even you know, you look at it
- 32:03Speaker 4: off the kind of something that's maybe a little bit outside,
- 32:07Speaker 4: but you know, Montreal Canadians potentially could be a spot.
- 32:12Speaker 4: I don't, you know, really know enough with where Kaner
- 32:15Speaker 4: wants to go and what he's thinking of doing. But
- 32:19Speaker 4: you know, I expected to be to a contender, just
- 32:21Speaker 4: like Laddie's gonna go to a contender. And I wouldn't
- 32:24Speaker 4: be surprised. Also if Tampa Bay sniffing up both these guys.
- 32:29Speaker 4: I named every team, I have no idea.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I like, I like this one can say hard, So
- 32:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna just give you a listed you too much.
- 32:34Speaker 1: One you're most excited about Marcus Johansson, Michael Bunting.
- 32:37Speaker 2: You like Tolvin and James Van Riemsdyke.
- 32:40Speaker 3: M Marcus Johansson the one. I like that one. He's
- 32:44Speaker 3: always been a guy for me.
- 32:45Speaker 7: He's you know, been kind of a Swiss army knife
- 32:47Speaker 7: on every team he's been on and plays in a
- 32:49Speaker 7: lot of different situations. I could see him in a
- 32:53Speaker 7: in Boston. Maybe I looked at him in a Boston role.
- 32:55Speaker 7: You know, he can play in a you know, third
- 32:58Speaker 7: line or second line, first line role. You know, Tara
- 33:01Speaker 7: Sinko one, I was interesting. I thought of Utah, and
- 33:05Speaker 7: then I also thought, like, if Kane doesn't go to Buffalo,
- 33:08Speaker 7: I could see Terry Sinkle going to Buffalo as well.
- 33:10Speaker 3: If that doesn't, like like you said, it doesn't work out.
- 33:12Speaker 7: But the one for the other one that jumps out
- 33:14Speaker 7: is Clinkberg going to Anaheim. Like we talked about Anaheim
- 33:17Speaker 7: kneeing a right handed defenseman. So I look at it too.
- 33:21Speaker 7: As you know, you have Jackson leccolem. You don't have
- 33:24Speaker 7: olwen Zelweger anymore. You know, if Jackson leccolem gets hurt
- 33:27Speaker 7: or whatever happens, I mean, knock on wood, but you
- 33:30Speaker 7: don't have your number one power play guy. I mean
- 33:32Speaker 7: maybe you'll, you know, maybe Clinkberg steps in and he can.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Do that role.
- 33:35Speaker 7: So they need right hand and shot defenseman. And that's
- 33:38Speaker 7: another one that just screams to me, to Anaheim right now.
- 33:41Speaker 4: I got one guy that And it happens every year
- 33:46Speaker 4: there's a player usually defenseman, which sucks out us. But
- 33:50Speaker 4: Logan Stanley, yeah, Logan Stanley. I don't know what his
- 33:55Speaker 4: agent did or what you know. I think the end
- 33:58Speaker 4: when he got traded to Buffalo. I think that hurt
- 34:01Speaker 4: a stock. You know, he barely played and then you know,
- 34:04Speaker 4: was like scratched at times in the in the finals,
- 34:06Speaker 4: he was playing like eighteen minutes of twenty minutes and
- 34:09Speaker 4: Winnipeg at nine goals. You know, I think he I
- 34:13Speaker 4: think he could benefit a team big time. So I
- 34:15Speaker 4: think he's gonna end up probably having to take a
- 34:18Speaker 4: one year deal. I'd be surprised if he, you know,
- 34:21Speaker 4: gets more than that. At this point, it's unfortunate. I
- 34:24Speaker 4: think he still might get something. But yeah, I thought
- 34:29Speaker 4: he was going to make a bag this offseason and
- 34:34Speaker 4: to tals point before, like a lot of teams have
- 34:36Speaker 4: filled up their needs. So I don't know if he
- 34:38Speaker 4: was asking for too much and priced himself out or
- 34:41Speaker 4: he's got five six offers, but it doesn't look it
- 34:45Speaker 4: looks like a lot of teams have picked up the
- 34:47Speaker 4: d men they wanted. You know, I could see maybe
- 34:50Speaker 4: even a shark's going after him. I'd still like him
- 34:54Speaker 4: if he becomes cheap enough, you know, for that five
- 34:57Speaker 4: to six roll bringing another tree. But it's tough for him, man.
- 35:01Speaker 4: I expected him to be off the board by now.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Amen.
- 35:05Speaker 1: And as far as goalies are concerned tal It's not
- 35:07Speaker 1: exactly Jerry Cheevers, Bernie Brunt, Ken Dryden, but Cam Talbot,
- 35:11Speaker 1: Connor Ingram, Peter Murrazik, who tickles your fancy.
- 35:15Speaker 6: I've always liked Kem Talbot. That's a guy who's been
- 35:18Speaker 6: around a long time now.
- 35:20Speaker 3: You know.
- 35:21Speaker 6: I covered him when he stole our Marty b Rom's
- 35:23Speaker 6: backup spot with the Rangers and came out of nowhere
- 35:26Speaker 6: to win that backup spot behind Henrik and he's just
- 35:29Speaker 6: been going and going and going ever since. I mean,
- 35:31Speaker 6: if there's a team out there that needs a solid
- 35:33Speaker 6: veteran backup, you can do a lot worse than Cam Talbot,
- 35:37Speaker 6: in my opinion. Another guy I was going to quickly mention,
- 35:40Speaker 6: I don't know if we did, you know, mention him
- 35:42Speaker 6: at all in the so far, but James Van Riemsdek
- 35:44Speaker 6: is a guy who you know what he brings year
- 35:47Speaker 6: after year after year. Seven power play goals for Detroit
- 35:50Speaker 6: last season. That's not bad for a guy who you
- 35:52Speaker 6: could probably get on a one year veterans veteran minimum
- 35:55Speaker 6: probably for that guy, and you want to keep playing.
- 35:58Speaker 5: He can help a team out on their power play.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Av You know whose power Play struggled last year.
- 36:03Speaker 1: JVR let's ahi, guys, that's where the Flyers were gonna get.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Jero Nate I said, we just see me on face
- 36:10Speaker 1: offs of the power play. She would have been the
- 36:11Speaker 1: guy go ahead.
- 36:14Speaker 4: Yeah, g's there. Right, he went back to Ottawa. I mean,
- 36:20Speaker 4: you got David Paran, you got Adam Henriq, you got
- 36:24Speaker 4: uh Carson Sussi. You know, I'm wondering what Toronto's gonna
- 36:29Speaker 4: do with Cali yarncrock as well. Are they going to
- 36:32Speaker 4: resign him there? Over the cap They're gonna move somebody.
- 36:34Speaker 4: I think they're still trying to move Morgan Riley. Maybe
- 36:37Speaker 4: that's holding up a lot of stuff. I still, I
- 36:39Speaker 4: still think Morgan Riley has the potential to not be
- 36:41Speaker 4: Toronto Mapleve at the start of the season. But I
- 36:46Speaker 4: still I still think there's a lot of exciting, Like
- 36:48Speaker 4: there's still some moves that are going to be made.
- 36:50Speaker 4: I think in the next couple of weeks.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Nice last topic, Bedard bedridden.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Chicago already taken plenty of heat for trading the fourth
- 36:57Speaker 1: overall picking the draft for the right to make Bowen
- 36:59Speaker 1: bayhim the highest peed defenseman in NHL history. Now comes
- 37:03Speaker 1: where it starts in or Conrad. We'll miss the start
- 37:05Speaker 1: of the season after shoulder surgery. Do an injury sustained
- 37:08Speaker 1: during a summer skate in Vancouver? What but Dark's still
- 37:11Speaker 1: restricted free agent needs to be signed, so this could
- 37:13Speaker 1: put a wrench into that.
- 37:14Speaker 2: More importantly, JD a summer skate in Vancouver.
- 37:19Speaker 5: Come on, but Dard?
- 37:21Speaker 3: Fuck Cotters?
- 37:23Speaker 2: Why got her? Why but he go rollerblading? Go to
- 37:27Speaker 2: the beach?
- 37:27Speaker 4: Take these Oh that was unfortunate. That was unfortunate. It happens.
- 37:32Speaker 4: You have to listen. You have to we play a
- 37:34Speaker 4: full contact sport. You can't you know, played tittley winks
- 37:38Speaker 4: all summer. You have to get a grinding and he
- 37:40Speaker 4: toepicked pretty much. Yeah, he toe picked going backwards. It's
- 37:45Speaker 4: like the most unfortunate, unlucky thing, and he caught his shoulder.
- 37:50Speaker 5: It's stinks, man.
- 37:52Speaker 4: It's honestly, like, there's nothing worse than getting hurt in
- 37:54Speaker 4: the summer. It's happened to me, where like I sprained
- 37:57Speaker 4: an ankle or you're like two three weeks and you're like,
- 38:00Speaker 4: this just threw off my whole summer, not to mention
- 38:03Speaker 4: four to six months, Like may your surgery.
- 38:05Speaker 5: Chicago's in trouble. They're in trouble, man, tell you what.
- 38:10Speaker 4: Chicago's right there with Anaheim and Vancouver there, they're they're
- 38:14Speaker 4: in trouble. Anim I think is still better than both
- 38:16Speaker 4: those teams because they're forward group. But uh, there's gonna
- 38:19Speaker 4: be some teams out west that are struggling early. But yeah,
- 38:22Speaker 4: this is Chicago's in one, I think big time.
- 38:25Speaker 7: Yeah, I feel bad for I feel bad for the
- 38:28Speaker 7: kid because you know, he got all he had all
- 38:29Speaker 7: that steam going and right before was a Christmas he
- 38:32Speaker 7: gets hurt, right, he was playing so well, comes back
- 38:35Speaker 7: then this happens, and I you know, you saw the
- 38:37Speaker 7: way he fell, and I've had two left shoulder surgeries
- 38:41Speaker 7: for a c separations, and I can just tell by
- 38:44Speaker 7: the way he was like he fell that it was,
- 38:46Speaker 7: you know, and he was grabbing his shoulder. You're just like,
- 38:48Speaker 7: oh fuck, that's not good. So it's tough for him
- 38:51Speaker 7: because I look at it too.
- 38:52Speaker 3: For him.
- 38:52Speaker 7: You know, he he can't start the season on time.
- 38:54Speaker 7: He's still a young guy. You know, it takes time.
- 38:57Speaker 7: When you come back from that and you're right in
- 38:59Speaker 7: the middle of the season, it takes like you know,
- 39:02Speaker 7: you're not going to be lighting the world on fire
- 39:03Speaker 7: right away. I mean, yeah, he is Connor Burdard, but
- 39:06Speaker 7: it's gonna take some time to get back into it.
- 39:08Speaker 7: Your shoulders just not the same. So I'm sure he's
- 39:11Speaker 7: gonna be okay, but it's just tough for him for
- 39:13Speaker 7: this to happen. This young, no doubt about. It's still
- 39:16Speaker 7: to come here.
- 39:16Speaker 1: In NHL unscripted, a two brute Daniel Albertson is sticking
- 39:20Speaker 1: the knife in the Autawa Centers and going to the
- 39:22Speaker 1: Trammo police. We'll discuss Alfie's move behind the bench right
- 39:25Speaker 1: after this.
- 39:34Speaker 2: Time, not for CENTI five and sixty.
- 39:35Speaker 1: You know you're a nerd win you go to the
- 39:37Speaker 1: theater a week in advance just to buy your tickets
- 39:39Speaker 1: to the Odyssey and then realize it might be a
- 39:41Speaker 1: little late. I went for the six o'clock PM show
- 39:44Speaker 1: Garden State JD twelve minutes from my house. I sa,
- 39:46Speaker 1: I'll do it a week in advance. Third row imax.
- 39:49Speaker 1: It's not front row, it's.
- 39:51Speaker 5: Not second, it's off on the neck.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Third row, and it's a three hour movie. Two fifty
- 39:56Speaker 1: two plus trailers. Firks and to walk on the stiff neck,
- 39:59Speaker 1: Like what happened? White put a strap on him? Like, no,
- 40:00Speaker 1: I just I was watching the Odyssey.
- 40:02Speaker 4: Sorry took us see Alis. I got stuck half boy.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Two hooped guys over here, just stuck watching the Odyssey
- 40:12Speaker 1: for three.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Hours one in two. I just have to hope there's
- 40:19Speaker 2: a couple of later rivals. I take one of the scenes.
- 40:22Speaker 5: I'm using that one.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely White pulled up the strap on Sorry my
- 40:27Speaker 1: next little.
- 40:27Speaker 5: That is so good.
- 40:28Speaker 4: Next time I said of his stiff neck, was White
- 40:30Speaker 4: wearing a strap bomblas, That's good?
- 40:34Speaker 5: How was it?
- 40:35Speaker 3: Though?
- 40:36Speaker 1: It's coming up this Friday, so I'm trying to avoid
- 40:38Speaker 1: the early reviews. What critics can do now with the
- 40:40Speaker 1: students have done it is they allowed critics to do
- 40:42Speaker 1: quick reviews on Twitter and Instagram.
- 40:44Speaker 2: So Richard Roper, the Great Richard Roper years ago, you're
- 40:46Speaker 2: to Cisco, Hebert. I just watched it.
- 40:47Speaker 1: By the way, looks at William Shott and I love
- 40:49Speaker 1: the guy who's put on some weight. And he did
- 40:50Speaker 1: like a thirty second review. He was like, I had
- 40:52Speaker 1: the same feeling watching the Odyssey that have when I
- 40:54Speaker 1: watched one of me and Tal's favorites, Spike Lee's do
- 40:56Speaker 1: the Right Thing. I had the same thing when I
- 40:58Speaker 1: was watching Quentin Tarantino's pulp Fiction. I had the same
- 41:00Speaker 1: thing when I was watching two thousand Space Saucy. This
- 41:03Speaker 1: is one of the great films I've experienced in that
- 41:05Speaker 1: Who knows that this will add up to those all time,
- 41:07Speaker 1: but it's one of Chris Nolan's best films. It's one
- 41:09Speaker 1: of the best films of the year. Like Okay sold
- 41:12Speaker 1: no spoilers. I was already in let's find.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Out question for you, both of you in the top talent,
- 41:18Speaker 4: I mean even you Nate. As as movie goes, you know,
- 41:21Speaker 4: there's there's a lot of talk, you know, the casting
- 41:25Speaker 4: and what are your thoughts when a movie that is
- 41:28Speaker 4: Greek mythology is cast in a certain way, as you know,
- 41:32Speaker 4: you're a man of a different race and ethnicity. But
- 41:37Speaker 4: like you know, Elliott Page, Elliott Page being a warrior,
- 41:41Speaker 4: I guess in it, and then Lupite and Young being
- 41:44Speaker 4: a Hellen of Troy. You know, I'm just wondering what's
- 41:48Speaker 4: your thoughts on that, because again, it's been both sides
- 41:52Speaker 4: of the fence have been going crazy.
- 41:53Speaker 5: I like a good movie. I don't give a shit
- 41:55Speaker 5: but you know, I just.
- 41:57Speaker 2: I would have reserved judgments. I see the movies.
- 41:59Speaker 1: I see the movie, I go, I thought Elliot Page
- 42:01Speaker 1: kind of sucked, and I think they cast him because
- 42:03Speaker 1: he's trained gender, then I'll be annoyed. But if I
- 42:05Speaker 1: see the film and go, I know it's with it
- 42:07Speaker 1: or Lapio Young and fine. In fairness, I don't know
- 42:10Speaker 1: the source material. I know about as much about Homer's
- 42:12Speaker 1: Odyssey as I do about Homer Simpson, so like, I
- 42:15Speaker 1: won't understand Oh great, yeah, I don't.
- 42:18Speaker 2: I don't know the text.
- 42:19Speaker 1: So it's not like I'm watching Death of the Salesman
- 42:21Speaker 1: I play, which I love, Like, no, that's not accurate
- 42:23Speaker 1: if I was watching Grapes of Wrath, so tell to me.
- 42:25Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't know the honesty, and everyone's like,
- 42:27Speaker 1: I'm like, should I brush up on it? I'm like, well,
- 42:29Speaker 1: I'm not gonna be speed reading it in the next
- 42:30Speaker 1: two days, so we're just got to figure it out.
- 42:32Speaker 1: I trust Christopher Nolan is going to make a film
- 42:34Speaker 1: as accessible to somebody who knows Homer's Yossy as somebody
- 42:37Speaker 1: who does not. I'm expecting a lot of action. I'm
- 42:39Speaker 1: expecting it to look great in the big screen, and
- 42:41Speaker 1: that's what.
- 42:42Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to.
- 42:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't care. I'm gonna go see it.
- 42:45Speaker 6: It's Christopher Nolan, Like I still don't understand Interstellar, but
- 42:50Speaker 6: I'm still gonna go see the honysty What I mean,
- 42:53Speaker 6: I don't get interested. I I heard that Tennant was
- 42:55Speaker 6: more complicated than Interstellar.
- 42:59Speaker 2: I why we are team Nolan all the way we
- 43:02Speaker 2: would love for somebody want to be a team Nolan.
- 43:04Speaker 5: But I was very confused.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Tell me he's never made a bad way. I go,
- 43:07Speaker 1: I guess you didn't sit through Tennant because.
- 43:11Speaker 2: I have no idea that I'm still confused by.
- 43:16Speaker 6: I heard Tenant was more complicated than Interstellar, and I
- 43:20Speaker 6: finished Interstellar and I didn't know what.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Was going on, So I was like, I just want
- 43:24Speaker 2: to be confused.
- 43:26Speaker 5: But my point is I'm going to see it anyways.
- 43:28Speaker 6: I trust him implicitly, Like I'm sure more than half
- 43:32Speaker 6: the people complaining about the casting have never read the
- 43:34Speaker 6: source material, So I'm not I'm not waiting until all
- 43:39Speaker 6: this bullshit about casting and what color this person is
- 43:43Speaker 6: and who this person is. If it's good, it's good,
- 43:46Speaker 6: and it sounds like it's pretty good.
- 43:48Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean three hours casting. Speaking speaking of casting,
- 43:53Speaker 7: Sean Avery's in it?
- 43:55Speaker 5: How did he that film?
- 43:58Speaker 3: Again?
- 43:59Speaker 5: He's an Oppenheimer's all he does? He like is he Christopher?
- 44:04Speaker 5: Is he?
- 44:04Speaker 1: No?
- 44:04Speaker 5: Christopher Nolan.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Nolan just loves his thespian roots. He said, you know what,
- 44:09Speaker 1: this guy brings it?
- 44:10Speaker 4: Like really he does. He's in all three of those.
- 44:12Speaker 4: That's a nice like good for him.
- 44:14Speaker 2: You know what it is?
- 44:15Speaker 1: I think didn't like Dion Phough And I think the
- 44:19Speaker 1: fact that Sean Avery said Dempo took my sloppy seconds.
- 44:22Speaker 2: That's Christopher Nolan's wampy. And you know what, team Sean Avery.
- 44:27Speaker 1: It's for some reason Chris Nolan does not like Dianphanough.
- 44:30Speaker 1: But Alicia Cuthbert that that's what this going on here.
- 44:32Speaker 6: Yeah, Adam Sandler has Rob Schneider and Christopher Nolan has
- 44:35Speaker 6: Sean Avery. They gotta give you, gotta give him credit
- 44:38Speaker 6: for this is like a big deal, like budget. I'm
- 44:41Speaker 6: not I'm not talking about Sean Avery being in any
- 44:44Speaker 6: of these movies are big time movies.
- 44:46Speaker 5: He's in them, That's all that matters.
- 44:48Speaker 1: I did want one drive by from Nate because I
- 44:50Speaker 1: don't watch a ton of shows.
- 44:50Speaker 2: The Emmy nominations came out, I know enough just to
- 44:53Speaker 2: see them.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Anominations go okay, yep, the Pit I've heard of it,
- 44:55Speaker 1: but I don't's watch it, Noel Wiley whatever, DTF, Saint Louis.
- 44:58Speaker 1: I was thrilled to see you recognize for a lot
- 44:59Speaker 1: of nominations, but I am curious nate your thoughts and shrinking,
- 45:03Speaker 1: which I've never seen. Despite the fact Tess, Harrison Ford
- 45:05Speaker 1: and Jason Siegel. I just want to watch Michael J.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Fox. I have one question, how much is Michael J.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Fox in the show? Because he was I mean nominated,
- 45:11Speaker 2: but maybe just because he is Michael J.
- 45:13Speaker 3: Fox.
- 45:13Speaker 7: No, he's in I would say at least three or
- 45:16Speaker 7: four episodes at least, and him and him and Harrison
- 45:19Speaker 7: Ford together, like the scenes there together, It's uh, they're
- 45:22Speaker 7: so good. He's so good. I mean, the show is incredible.
- 45:25Speaker 7: It gets better every season. It's it's the same writer
- 45:28Speaker 7: Bill Lawrence obviously is Ted Lasso and and just creative writing.
- 45:33Speaker 7: Obviously you get a little bit of everything. And actually
- 45:35Speaker 7: one of my friends is on the show too, is
- 45:36Speaker 7: named Marcus Silviatro. I do I do jiu Jitsu with him,
- 45:39Speaker 7: he's one of the sons of the neighbors. But the show,
- 45:43Speaker 7: Jude gee you can gee. So yeah, it's a great show.
- 45:46Speaker 7: I highly recommend shrinking, absolutely shrinking a shot.
- 45:49Speaker 2: And JD has a recommendation for the great Sterling K.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Brown in Paradise.
- 45:53Speaker 5: Oh sterling K. Brown. God damn it. What a beautiful
- 45:57Speaker 5: man and a beautiful actor, good looking duet, intense.
- 46:01Speaker 4: There's this scene in it he was him and James
- 46:05Speaker 4: Marsden go on toe to toe and I love James Marsen.
- 46:09Speaker 4: He walks circles around him, circles. Really, I'm like, dude,
- 46:14Speaker 4: you can't even match that intensity.
- 46:15Speaker 5: Come out.
- 46:16Speaker 2: I love that.
- 46:17Speaker 1: It's one reason why I love The Wibly Blood so
- 46:19Speaker 1: muchcause Danielly Lewis is just punking Paul Dano like it's.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Not even an argument.
- 46:22Speaker 4: I like Paul Dano too. I like, is it Dano
- 46:25Speaker 4: or Dano Paul dwne.
- 46:26Speaker 1: You know, I always thought it was pronounced Dano, but
- 46:28Speaker 1: it is actually pronounced Dano.
- 46:29Speaker 6: Like.
- 46:30Speaker 4: I like Paul Dano a lot. I actually like him
- 46:32Speaker 4: a lot. I think he's fantastic. Just think Daniel da Lewis.
- 46:35Speaker 4: There's just mean hours from them there's Danieldy Lewis and
- 46:38Speaker 4: everybody else inacting, and especially like intensity You're You're.
- 46:43Speaker 5: Can't last of the Mohicans.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Tarantino said, The Only Bloods one of his favorite movies.
- 46:47Speaker 1: He said, but I just I think it's such an
- 46:49Speaker 1: unfair fight. Watching D d L against Paul Dano. He goes,
- 46:52Speaker 1: it's like uh Ali Quarry, which is a very dated
- 46:54Speaker 1: boxing reference.
- 46:55Speaker 2: But I love that.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Tarantino said, it was very funny to be Anyways, what's
- 46:58Speaker 1: it all about, Alphie jd? How about this Brady could
- 47:00Speaker 1: truck trade didn't already put enough of a damper in
- 47:02Speaker 1: the Outawa Senators offseason? Now, Daniel Offferson did an interview
- 47:06Speaker 1: for the head coaching job of the Leafs to Go.
- 47:07Speaker 2: How would make you assistant?
- 47:08Speaker 5: But no problem?
- 47:09Speaker 1: Associate coach under Jim Hiller, The Hall of Famer spent
- 47:12Speaker 1: the past three seasons as an assistant in Ottawa. Franchise
- 47:15Speaker 1: is all don leader and goals, assists and points. How
- 47:18Speaker 1: much of kicking the balls is this to the city
- 47:21Speaker 1: of Ottawa?
- 47:22Speaker 4: I mean the Ottawa Centers are just in a room
- 47:26Speaker 4: sitting on a chair watching the Toronto Maple's Make Sweet
- 47:29Speaker 4: Sweet Love to their wife, girlfriend, mom, the whole kit
- 47:35Speaker 4: and kaboodle. They are just oh, Mike, they they need
- 47:39Speaker 4: that rink downtown so bad.
- 47:43Speaker 5: They need that ring.
- 47:44Speaker 4: Yes, they need they need it built tomorrow, yesterday, three
- 47:49Speaker 4: weeks ago. Because nobody wants to go to the Brook
- 47:52Speaker 4: Street Hotel. Nobody wants to go to Canada. Move it
- 47:56Speaker 4: down to I. I I'm a little shocked at Alfredson,
- 47:59Speaker 4: And I'd probably say that Matt Sundeed had more pull
- 48:01Speaker 4: than we know behind the scenes of bringing off over there.
- 48:05Speaker 4: But I don't know. I feel like it's a little
- 48:08Speaker 4: you know, that's such a rivalry. You're not supposed to
- 48:10Speaker 4: touch and you're not supposed to jump the line, So
- 48:13Speaker 4: you know, I think it's fair to call alfreds In
- 48:15Speaker 4: a scab and a defector on this one.
- 48:19Speaker 5: Yeah, more than you can get promotion.
- 48:20Speaker 2: He's a head coach. I get it, Bro, You're an
- 48:22Speaker 2: assistant and now you're just lateral. Yeah, what are we doing?
- 48:25Speaker 5: Lateral?
- 48:26Speaker 3: Move swede swede love like you said.
- 48:30Speaker 5: Just then over taking it up the tailpipe.
- 48:33Speaker 6: He's an associate coach in Toronto technically, so it's not
- 48:36Speaker 6: exactly lateral, but basically it is just want to clarify.
- 48:40Speaker 2: No, but his associate that to me, it kind of
- 48:42Speaker 2: sounds like the same thing.
- 48:44Speaker 5: You guys, associated assistant develop.
- 48:46Speaker 3: And he was coming.
- 48:47Speaker 7: I would assume Alfie's coming to to help the power
- 48:50Speaker 7: play in Toronto, right, He's coming in Hope, so he's
- 48:52Speaker 7: a power play guy.
- 48:53Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, all.
- 48:54Speaker 2: Right, a couple of thoughts. He let the fans do it.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Islanders have had their moments when it comes to trying
- 48:58Speaker 1: new jerseys. They decided to let fans take charge of
- 49:00Speaker 1: what they do. Next, Islanders will be introducing a new
- 49:03Speaker 1: third jersey. A lot of fan designed the jersey through
- 49:06Speaker 1: a contest, allowing Islanders faithful to submit the right nice.
- 49:10Speaker 1: The team announcer received twelve thousand entries in five hours,
- 49:14Speaker 1: and a team committee mae up of executives, players and
- 49:16Speaker 1: other staff was like five finalists.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Bad idea, JD or genius.
- 49:22Speaker 5: No, I think it's good.
- 49:23Speaker 4: My one of my favorite websites is ninety nine designs Nice.
- 49:26Speaker 5: That's awesome.
- 49:27Speaker 4: You submit a design, and you submit an idea for
- 49:30Speaker 4: a design, and people bet on it, and then you
- 49:32Speaker 4: just pick a group of people. You give them each
- 49:36Speaker 4: their own separate notes for what they built you and
- 49:38Speaker 4: then you know, it keeps and you end up with
- 49:40Speaker 4: something pretty.
- 49:41Speaker 5: Cool that you, you.
- 49:42Speaker 4: Know, kind of create with somebody. So yeah, I think
- 49:44Speaker 4: it's gonna be cool. I think listen to fan base.
- 49:46Speaker 4: They understand what it means to be an Islander fan.
- 49:49Speaker 4: They understand what it is to be an Islander, and
- 49:52Speaker 4: part of the New York Islanders organization is supporting them
- 49:55Speaker 4: for so long. So and I think there's gonna be
- 49:56Speaker 4: some pretty creative people that come up with some pretty
- 49:59Speaker 4: awesome stuff. And you know what better third jersey the
- 50:03Speaker 4: sixth man jersey you want to call it as being
- 50:07Speaker 4: the or seventh man if you acount a goalie, the
- 50:09Speaker 4: seventh man jersey like made by the fans for the players,
- 50:13Speaker 4: like you know, wearing the fans on their back.
- 50:15Speaker 3: Pretty cool.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Nay, what do you think of it?
- 50:19Speaker 3: No, I think it's great.
- 50:20Speaker 7: I think you're gonna see a lot more teams doing this.
- 50:22Speaker 7: I thought that the design was awesome.
- 50:25Speaker 3: I really liked it.
- 50:26Speaker 7: I mean I think that you can think of other
- 50:27Speaker 7: teams and like JD said, I think there's there's a
- 50:30Speaker 7: lot of there's a lot of creative people out there
- 50:32Speaker 7: that can that can do more than a lot of
- 50:34Speaker 7: these organizations I'm sure with when it comes to artistry.
- 50:37Speaker 7: So I think we're gonna see some sick their jerseys hopefully, well, I.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Can only hope.
- 50:42Speaker 1: And last lot hanging out flowers the newly weds. Plenty
- 50:44Speaker 1: of players getting married this summer. Want to acknowledge the
- 50:46Speaker 1: couple in San Jose had their wedding crash, but the
- 50:48Speaker 1: one and only San Jose Shark's mascot, Sharky.
- 50:52Speaker 2: Congrats the young couple.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Sharky hitting the dance for as well JD as our
- 50:55Speaker 1: former Sharks still doing work with the Sharks. Your thoughts
- 50:58Speaker 1: on just Sharky. I mean, he's one of the great
- 50:59Speaker 1: mascots in the game of hockey.
- 51:02Speaker 3: What did I miss?
- 51:03Speaker 5: We're talking Sharkey?
- 51:04Speaker 2: Yeah, what do you think?
- 51:05Speaker 3: It's?
- 51:05Speaker 2: Sharkis What are the great mascots in hockey?
- 51:07Speaker 5: The best? Yeah, he's the best.
- 51:10Speaker 4: Well, I mean, you know Gritty's I mean, there's some
- 51:12Speaker 4: really good mascots in the NHL, now Gritty And now
- 51:15Speaker 4: who knows what the new team's coming in. If it's
- 51:17Speaker 4: gonna be Houston, what are they gonna call Houston?
- 51:19Speaker 5: What are they gonna call?
- 51:21Speaker 4: You know, if Atlanta gets a team, So to me,
- 51:23Speaker 4: some new mascots may be coming in. But yeah, I
- 51:26Speaker 4: like Sharky's I mean he, I mean the iconic him
- 51:28Speaker 4: coming off the ceiling. Yeah, on the on the zip
- 51:31Speaker 4: line and he got caught. The best was that him
- 51:34Speaker 4: or the Ducks guy?
- 51:35Speaker 5: It was him?
- 51:35Speaker 3: Right?
- 51:37Speaker 5: It was Sharks. Yeah, the Sharks.
- 51:39Speaker 2: Our mascot grew is teuth.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Never there's a mascot question, tal can handle those as well.
- 51:43Speaker 1: You're asking me then, well, because you're a Sharks guy,
- 51:46Speaker 1: And I said.
- 51:47Speaker 5: Yeah, it's great.
- 51:49Speaker 2: The kids.
- 51:50Speaker 5: The kids love the mascots.
- 51:51Speaker 1: Nate, nobody's anti mascot. You meet a guy who's I
- 51:53Speaker 1: hate mascots, You got what's wrong with you? Like, just
- 51:55Speaker 1: have some time, come on.
- 51:56Speaker 3: No, I like mascots.
- 51:57Speaker 7: I mean I think about the different teams that played
- 51:59Speaker 7: for I mean Gritty Up you up in Montreal.
- 52:02Speaker 3: Up is a good one in Mantreal. That's a great one.
- 52:05Speaker 3: Some good mascots out there.
- 52:06Speaker 5: My favorites.
- 52:07Speaker 4: When they're absolute pissed tanks and they're just and you
- 52:10Speaker 4: meet them out and they're just absolutely just.
- 52:13Speaker 1: That's the better points. The mascot when they're unmasked comes
- 52:17Speaker 1: like death to Smoochy, like Robin Williams like they're just crass, an.
- 52:20Speaker 4: Angry, great deep cup movie like that Smoochy Edward.
- 52:27Speaker 2: Work just an angry sour comedy.
- 52:30Speaker 6: Very misanthropic was Edward Norton had a great recent interview
- 52:33Speaker 6: where he talked extensively about Death to Smoochy By the way, Basically,
- 52:37Speaker 6: he loved making it and was devastated when when it
- 52:40Speaker 6: was when it bombed.
- 52:41Speaker 2: Massive flop, but I underrated greatness.
- 52:43Speaker 5: It was good. It a weird, dark, ye creepy movie.
- 52:48Speaker 3: But it's like.
- 52:50Speaker 2: Last thought, the favorite summer teammate wedding?
- 52:54Speaker 1: Is there a particular team interviewers, You're like, you know what,
- 52:56Speaker 1: that wedding was a blast.
- 52:57Speaker 7: Oh, there's a couple of them. Steven Stamp Ghost his
- 53:04Speaker 7: h it was a good one. Teddy Purcels was a
- 53:06Speaker 7: good one too. His was out in Lake comb It, Italy.
- 53:10Speaker 7: So that was that that didn't suck. So those are
- 53:12Speaker 7: some fun ones he used. All all of them all
- 53:14Speaker 7: had a common denominator. The shirts were off on the
- 53:16Speaker 7: dance floor though, that's for sure. I'm sure JD can
- 53:18Speaker 7: attest the same thing at his weddings.
- 53:19Speaker 4: He went to JD always Yeah, I mean there's some
- 53:24Speaker 4: good ones like I did a couple in like Winnipeg
- 53:27Speaker 4: were just fucking grimy, deep, just the bathroom full of drugs,
- 53:32Speaker 4: just at the groom. The groom didn't even sleep with
- 53:38Speaker 4: the bride. They were the groom ended up like forty
- 53:41Speaker 4: minutes outside downtown Winnipeg at like an after party, and
- 53:45Speaker 4: then like it was just like a two day, absolute
- 53:50Speaker 4: debaucherous weekend and like just middle of the summer, sweaty Winnipeg,
- 53:55Speaker 4: and I just I always look back fondly on that
- 53:57Speaker 4: because I'm like, you know, you think of like, oh
- 53:58Speaker 4: the opulent you're in Italy and it's beautiful right now.
- 54:02Speaker 4: Just give me middle of the I'm or Winnipeg just
- 54:06Speaker 4: a crash. And then with the best part about those ones,
- 54:10Speaker 4: My favorite part is like you know, back in my
- 54:13Speaker 4: heyday when I was younger, and you know, just when
- 54:18Speaker 4: full balls to the wall and then I'd run into
- 54:21Speaker 4: like we'd be at like some random game like against
- 54:24Speaker 4: Saint Louis and I'd be walking out and like one
- 54:27Speaker 4: of like we're walking by like the family and they're like, JD,
- 54:31Speaker 4: what's up, And I'm like, what's up?
- 54:34Speaker 3: Like, whoa dude?
- 54:35Speaker 2: What a party? We had?
- 54:37Speaker 4: And I was like, who the fuck is this guy?
- 54:39Speaker 4: When I partied with this guy the whole night at
- 54:42Speaker 4: a wedding.
- 54:42Speaker 5: And I'm sitting there and being like, yeah, great to
- 54:44Speaker 5: meet Jill. You you made up with my aunt and.
- 54:49Speaker 2: Going on right now? Oh my god, finger bang my aunt?
- 54:55Speaker 4: Hey?
- 54:56Speaker 3: Whoa another level? Another level?
- 54:59Speaker 4: Easy, I just strap on VERI tell it a little crazy,
- 55:05Speaker 4: exactly right?
- 55:07Speaker 5: All right, Well you get fired next week.
