Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Pauli Fosco not here with Tony Fosco. Tony and I
- 0:04Speaker 1: decided we deserved a much needed vacation after having to
- 0:07Speaker 1: sit through that boring World Cup final. But we all
- 0:11Speaker 1: know soccer has bigger problems than being totally boring and unwatchable.
- 0:16Speaker 1: It's tarnishing the proud United States tradition of destroying everyone
- 0:21Speaker 1: in sports, you know. As you know, we just had
- 0:24Speaker 1: another embarrassing flame out for the US soccer team, and
- 0:27Speaker 1: of course that's not the first time that's happened, you know,
- 0:30Speaker 1: So we thought it was a good time right now
- 0:32Speaker 1: to take a look back at the last big soccer flameout.
- 0:36Speaker 1: You probably don't remember it because you don't actually care
- 0:39Speaker 1: about soccer like most normal people, but we looked it up.
- 0:43Speaker 1: July twenty twenty four, the US lost to a country
- 0:47Speaker 1: called Uru your rug Away. I don't know what that is,
- 0:54Speaker 1: it doesn't matter anyway. It was some tournament called the
- 0:56Speaker 1: Copa America. And at the time when it happened, as
- 0:59Speaker 1: we always do, we provided a bold ways, smart ways
- 1:03Speaker 1: to fix the United States soccer team that you know,
- 1:06Speaker 1: if people had bothered to listen to, would have fixed
- 1:09Speaker 1: the team and we would have won the World Cup anyway,
- 1:12Speaker 1: So we're gonna play you an interview we did with
- 1:14Speaker 1: The Fox's Rob stoneback then the soccer guy. And you know,
- 1:18Speaker 1: there's also more in this episode that's still very topical
- 1:22Speaker 1: and just shows how right we were about everything. So
- 1:24Speaker 1: here we go. It's time for a Foolsco flashback. Yep,
- 1:28Speaker 1: that's what we're calling it. Anyway, We're gonna go back
- 1:30Speaker 1: two years or so. This episode is from July third,
- 1:34Speaker 1: twenty twenty four.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Play it.
- 1:40Speaker 1: All right, all right, comment toyo live from Philly. It's
- 1:45Speaker 1: the number one rated Polly in Tony Foolsco. Show. Yo,
- 1:49Speaker 1: as always, Polly Foolsco. Here with Tony Foolsco and Tony
- 1:54Speaker 1: Huge Show today. You know it's gone and you believe Tony,
- 1:58Speaker 1: most of the people in our industry, these lazy bums
- 2:01Speaker 1: taking off today when our own team USA Soccer is
- 2:04Speaker 1: in crisis, ter.
- 2:05Speaker 2: It just shows you who the real patriots are.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, We're here to save our Teaman, Dot Country,
- 2:12Speaker 1: Dow Country now bro, because as you know, nobody covers
- 2:15Speaker 1: soccer better than we do. Everybody knows that, you know.
- 2:17Speaker 1: And now that's why we're bringing on a guest today.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Who's just he's just not doing it right, Tony, He's
- 2:21Speaker 1: not you know, he's no idea what he doing needs
- 2:24Speaker 1: some education. We're gonna help. Is a Fox Sports studio
- 2:27Speaker 1: host there, Rob Stone.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:28Speaker 3: And if you want to know who's to blame for
- 2:30Speaker 3: America losing, it's this guy and his co host, uh,
- 2:36Speaker 3: the redhead guy, you know, the one looks like the
- 2:39Speaker 3: lead singer to Spin Doctors.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Him. Anyway. By the way, while we're talking about
- 2:43Speaker 1: the USA, since this country clearly needs a help, remember
- 2:47Speaker 1: to support the best option for president you have. That's
- 2:50Speaker 1: me and Tony. Get your Folly and Tony twenty four shirts, hats,
- 2:54Speaker 1: smugs in our merch store on July fourth. Only you
- 2:56Speaker 1: get twenty five percent of Here you go, America, your wealth,
- 3:01Speaker 1: there your go. All right now to our top story.
- 3:04Speaker 1: S all right, our top story. Dame USA. SOCCA just
- 3:10Speaker 1: flaming out once again like a fiery third or getting
- 3:13Speaker 1: knocked out of the latest soccer tournament by the country
- 3:16Speaker 1: called Rugaway. And there's no agway we should have lost
- 3:21Speaker 1: to them, good one, Tony, And you know people that
- 3:24Speaker 1: are scratching their heads wondering how we could lose to
- 3:26Speaker 1: a tame like that baitball. It's so clear why all
- 3:29Speaker 1: these South American teams are better at soccer. You know,
- 3:32Speaker 1: everyone's just a fright to say it. You know, when
- 3:34Speaker 1: these countries they lose at SOCCA, well the government just
- 3:36Speaker 1: executes the players, exactly, such a simple, proven approach, exactly,
- 3:41Speaker 1: that really motivates the players. And you know, we got
- 3:43Speaker 1: to stop considering that, right.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Donty one hundred percent.
- 3:46Speaker 3: You know, all you have to do is look at
- 3:48Speaker 3: one of the all time great soccer minds. Of course,
- 3:51Speaker 3: I'm talking about Pablo Escobar. Sure, you know, maybe he
- 3:55Speaker 3: wasn't so great in other areas of his business, but
- 3:58Speaker 3: when it came to motivating and all so murdering soccer players,
- 4:02Speaker 3: nobody was better.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Nobody.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Just look at the results, tons of titles, tears of joy,
- 4:08Speaker 3: you know, some tears of pain and sadness, but mostly.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Joy, yeah, but mostly joy. And you know he also
- 4:14Speaker 1: had a winning mentality. You know, you win, it costs
- 4:18Speaker 1: here you go.
- 4:19Speaker 2: That's what you need, a winning mentality.
- 4:21Speaker 1: All right, Well, you know, moving on on that subject,
- 4:23Speaker 1: winning mentality. And Thompson just chose the Mavericks over the Lakers.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And his dad, Michael Thompson. Well, he came out and
- 4:30Speaker 1: said he's disappointed that his son made this decision, didn't
- 4:33Speaker 1: choose the Lakers, you know, Michael's old team, And well,
- 4:36Speaker 1: you know, I gotta take his dad's side here, because
- 4:38Speaker 1: you really do have to question Clay's thinking here, don't you.
- 4:41Speaker 3: You know, Frankly, I was shocked when Clay didn't go
- 4:44Speaker 3: to the Lakers, because you know, when you break it down,
- 4:48Speaker 3: Clay checks all the Laker boxes yep, past his prime YEP,
- 4:53Speaker 3: injury prone, very overpaid yep, and nepotism.
- 4:59Speaker 1: And I'm a call founding face of the Lakers.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I am shocked that he isn't a Laker right now.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Just a terrible decision by him. But Tony, Paul George
- 5:09Speaker 1: choosing the Sixers, great, great move by both sides here.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Absolutely, Paul George is the exact opposite of everything I
- 5:18Speaker 3: just described.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Absolutely, And oh, well to this story, Tony, kind of controversial.
- 5:24Speaker 1: You know, people they're outraged because at the BET Awards,
- 5:27Speaker 1: OJ Simpson was included in the in memoriam segment. Now, Tony, I, Frankly,
- 5:32Speaker 1: I don't see the reason for outrage here, you know,
- 5:35Speaker 1: I mean, I know, OJ, did you know, get away
- 5:37Speaker 1: with murder. But you know the reason he did get
- 5:40Speaker 1: away with murder was because he was such a great athlete.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I mean, you could argue it only cemented his legacy
- 5:46Speaker 1: as one of the greatest athletes of all time.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Yeah, there's no question oj had that great speed and
- 5:52Speaker 3: that elusiveness, and that's what made him one of the
- 5:55Speaker 3: great running backs and murderers, you know, well agen murderers.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Since he wasn't.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Caught, he wasn't caught. That's when people just keep leaving
- 6:05Speaker 1: out of the story here. I mean, you know, you
- 6:07Speaker 1: don't see other killers being memorialized that the ward shows
- 6:11Speaker 1: like where's Charles Manson? You know exactly the reason is
- 6:14Speaker 1: because he was a shrimp. Yeah, no foot speed, that's
- 6:18Speaker 1: why he got caught. Yeah, you know, then you look
- 6:20Speaker 1: at someone like the Zodiac.
- 6:23Speaker 3: He was a great at calling audibles and terrific at
- 6:26Speaker 3: signs and signals that defenses just couldn't figure out and
- 6:31Speaker 3: never got caught.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Never got caught. And see that's why he's still a
- 6:34Speaker 1: legend to this day.
- 6:35Speaker 2: The they you go like Ojay. Yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Anyway, before we get to our guest, Tony, your one
- 6:39Speaker 1: final story, ESPN has announced they're launching a new business
- 6:44Speaker 1: venture you see this called the ESPN Experiences where for
- 6:47Speaker 1: about seven or eight thousand bucks, you get to go
- 6:50Speaker 1: to a ball game, get a private tour of ESPN
- 6:52Speaker 1: headquarters in Bristol, and do meet and greets with Arnie A.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Tallons including David Cohen, doug Landville, Michael K, Carl Rapch
- 7:00Speaker 1: and Buster Only Wow.
- 7:03Speaker 2: You know one or two of those people are somewhat famous, that's.
- 7:07Speaker 1: True, but you know we're business people, Tony, always thinking,
- 7:10Speaker 1: and that's why we're about to do them and you
- 7:12Speaker 1: won better. That's right. We're announcing the launch right now
- 7:15Speaker 1: of Fullsco Experiences. For the low cost of twenty four
- 7:20Speaker 1: seven hundred dollars, you and nobody else will get an
- 7:23Speaker 1: exclusive forty seven minute tour of Fusco Studios where you'll
- 7:27Speaker 1: be able to watch a live day thing as long
- 7:29Speaker 1: as you don't make direct eye contact with either me
- 7:32Speaker 1: or Tony, in which you'll be asked to leave the premises.
- 7:35Speaker 1: And as an added bonus, after the show, you will
- 7:37Speaker 1: be escorted into the parking lot where you'll get one
- 7:40Speaker 1: free shot at our producer with a weapon of your
- 7:43Speaker 1: choosing sling shot, bow and arrow, hatchet, Uzi or Bazuka.
- 7:46Speaker 1: If you kill him, twenty percent off your entire purchase.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Injure him, it's five good luck. You'll be you a
- 7:53Speaker 1: FULLSCO experience book it now. Oh look he's all sad,
- 7:56Speaker 1: that Tony.
- 7:57Speaker 2: He'sa shit.
- 7:58Speaker 1: But it's gonna be fun for you. You'll get some exercise,
- 8:01Speaker 1: you know, run around it for once in your life.
- 8:04Speaker 1: You know, what's your shirt? What is what shirt are
- 8:07Speaker 1: you wearing?
- 8:08Speaker 2: Bro?
- 8:08Speaker 4: By the way, he says, drink plant milk, plant milk?
- 8:13Speaker 1: What do you jerk off the plant?
- 8:14Speaker 2: What are you squeezing its tits?
- 8:16Speaker 4: No, you're you're half right. You do squeeze the milk
- 8:18Speaker 4: out of the almonds.
- 8:20Speaker 5: For example.
- 8:20Speaker 2: See there you go.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Well you're half made, you go. There we go?
- 8:25Speaker 2: Yeah all right.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Well, oh look, hey, you know you're busy jabbering on.
- 8:28Speaker 1: You didn't even see a guest on the line. Yeah,
- 8:31Speaker 1: all right, let's go ahead and bring him on the
- 8:32Speaker 1: FUSCO Satellite network. Satellite alright, this guy, longtime Fox Sports
- 8:40Speaker 1: studio host, you know soccer, college football. Does that also
- 8:43Speaker 1: covers bowling, although he's not that great at it, you know,
- 8:46Speaker 1: as we established last time, he was on the show.
- 8:48Speaker 1: But yeah, you know, now lately his broadcasting partners in him,
- 8:51Speaker 1: they've been very critical of Team USA soccer. You know
- 8:54Speaker 1: a lot of people they've been applauding that coverage, but
- 8:56Speaker 1: not us, certainly not you know, just a bunch of
- 8:59Speaker 1: wine and no good solutions. We're going to bring him
- 9:02Speaker 1: on try and educate him anyway, Rob Stone, welcome to
- 9:05Speaker 1: the show.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Welcome bro, Hi, thank you.
- 9:07Speaker 5: I'm fired up to get educated. Let the education begin.
- 9:11Speaker 5: I'm sitting see.
- 9:11Speaker 1: You know, you've come to the right place. You know,
- 9:14Speaker 1: a tough time, isn't it tough time for soccer experts
- 9:17Speaker 1: like us? You know, don't you hate when this time,
- 9:19Speaker 1: you know, all these people come out of the woodwork,
- 9:21Speaker 1: like Steven A. Smith, act like they know everything about soccer,
- 9:24Speaker 1: watch all the games. Isn't that just pathetic?
- 9:27Speaker 5: I think when you're wearing a Philadelphia Eagles jersey, that
- 9:30Speaker 5: tells me you are definitely dialed into the tone and
- 9:33Speaker 5: tenor of American soccer.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Well, yeah, because an Eagle is the symbol of America.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I see where you're going with. Yeah, all right, good,
- 9:40Speaker 1: good for you one right, yay, And that's how we
- 9:43Speaker 1: support our country, you know, symbols. Okay, but let's talk
- 9:47Speaker 1: about you know you, you know, you've been very critical
- 9:50Speaker 1: on air, you know, about a lot of things, and
- 9:52Speaker 1: we feel like we need to check you ook. You know,
- 9:54Speaker 1: first of all, the other day you'll complaining about the
- 9:56Speaker 1: camera angle or the broadcast right because it looked like,
- 9:58Speaker 1: you know, it's from like a space out of like
- 10:00Speaker 1: ten thousand feet above the ground. You know, but you
- 10:03Speaker 1: seem to think that was bad. We thought it was better.
- 10:06Speaker 3: I mean, you know, right, Tony, Yeah, you know, you know,
- 10:08Speaker 3: you can you can imagine the home viewer pulling out
- 10:12Speaker 3: their binoculars and it must have felt like they were
- 10:15Speaker 3: really at the game looking.
- 10:16Speaker 2: At the TV with binoculars. Okay, all right, to each
- 10:22Speaker 2: their own.
- 10:22Speaker 5: That's fine, good, Yeah, you get to see everything, all right,
- 10:24Speaker 5: that's fine. I'll take that.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Don't You'll think that's the what you want living You'll
- 10:29Speaker 1: see who's too far for you.
- 10:31Speaker 4: It was awful, It was awful.
- 10:33Speaker 5: Yeah, no depth perception, couldn't see anything. It looked like
- 10:37Speaker 5: ants run around on the field. It was one of
- 10:39Speaker 5: the worst things I've ever seen in sports television, and
- 10:43Speaker 5: thankfully got corrected.
- 10:45Speaker 1: You know what, you know, why you're an elitist rob.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I bet when you'll get your Fox Sports seats, you're
- 10:49Speaker 1: down on the field. You know, we like to be
- 10:51Speaker 1: up as far back as possible with the people. Yeah,
- 10:54Speaker 1: you you obviously hate people.
- 10:58Speaker 5: Not a big fan of people. But I am a
- 10:59Speaker 5: big fan of free tickets from Fox Sports.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Yes, okay, okay, there you go. You know they give
- 11:04Speaker 1: them to us too, but they give me some too close.
- 11:06Speaker 1: They're too close. We don't want Yeah, all right, anyway,
- 11:08Speaker 1: that all right, Look, let's talk about you. Let's talk
- 11:10Speaker 1: about you. You know you're coming out you're blaming Team USA.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Don't you think you and you're announcing team are the
- 11:15Speaker 1: play there? I mean, you know, before the euro the
- 11:17Speaker 1: Uruguay game or whatever, you and that redhead guy, you know,
- 11:20Speaker 1: the one who looks like the lead singer of the
- 11:22Speaker 1: Spin Doctors Spin Doctors fight, he was power ranking the
- 11:25Speaker 1: teams and he put Team USA eight out of ten.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Don't you think that hurts the players morale? Like, you know,
- 11:32Speaker 1: you're basically saying you suck, You're gonna lose before the game.
- 11:37Speaker 5: How many spin Doctor songs can you guys name, by
- 11:40Speaker 5: the way, plenty?
- 11:41Speaker 1: Bro? Yeah, you're the spin doctor.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Bro.
- 11:43Speaker 1: You're not even answering the question is spin, But how
- 11:45Speaker 1: about answering the question?
- 11:46Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 11:47Speaker 1: Sure, sure, So you're telling me to call you blind melon,
- 11:50Speaker 1: You're not You're not getting to the in Argentina.
- 11:53Speaker 5: Come on, what right? Like, there's no way the US
- 11:56Speaker 5: in soccer is better than Lionel Messi and Argentina. There's
- 11:59Speaker 5: no they're better than.
- 12:01Speaker 1: You're missing the point. Bro, You're on American television, yeah,
- 12:05Speaker 1: and you on your.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Own country number one.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Bro.
- 12:10Speaker 5: Well, we try not to be biased with these things,
- 12:12Speaker 5: and actually, you know, I have some thought and some
- 12:16Speaker 5: numbers put into it, not just automatically assume that we
- 12:19Speaker 5: are number one at everything. Granted we kick ass in
- 12:22Speaker 5: a lot of departments, but soccer currently is not the
- 12:25Speaker 5: thing that we are number one.
- 12:26Speaker 1: But don't you feel like you're kind of being, you know,
- 12:28Speaker 1: like a Benedict Cumberbatch, you know, like you traded to
- 12:31Speaker 1: your country but traded uspro ben who cumber Bash? Yeah,
- 12:37Speaker 1: you know the trader? Yeah, trader, guy trader.
- 12:41Speaker 5: Yeah, no, no, no, no, not trader. Joe's no, I'm
- 12:44Speaker 5: not a trader. I love my country, I love my
- 12:47Speaker 5: soccer team. We're just we're not there right now guys,
- 12:50Speaker 5: we're not as good. I mean the Philadelphia Union. I mean,
- 12:52Speaker 5: I'm sure you guys go to a lot of Philly
- 12:54Speaker 5: Union games.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Right course.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Yeah, what town are there is their stadium inn.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Bro.
- 12:58Speaker 2: We're not stay on topic or you're getting a topic, bro.
- 13:02Speaker 1: And we've been very supportive. We've spoken about the Union
- 13:05Speaker 1: once or twice in the past three years and said
- 13:07Speaker 1: very positive thing. By the way, you know, how would
- 13:09Speaker 1: you feel. Let's say I got on the air and
- 13:11Speaker 1: I said, Rob Stone, he's the eighth best out of
- 13:15Speaker 1: the den. You know, Kurt Menafee much better, Jay Glazer much.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Better, Mattline at number one.
- 13:22Speaker 1: And then you gotta roll out. Yeah, I say, this
- 13:24Speaker 1: guy just sucks at broadcasting. He's a terrible human. Shouldn't
- 13:28Speaker 1: be on television. Okay, go Rob.
- 13:31Speaker 5: I would say that's probably a pretty fair assessment, and
- 13:34Speaker 5: you've given me great motivation to try and move up
- 13:36Speaker 5: the pecking order.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Oh good, because that was actually not an example. I
- 13:39Speaker 1: was just actually telling giving you advice that I'm bro.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Oh, well, everybody's got you know, you know what, right,
- 13:47Speaker 5: So they got an opinion, so they're allowed to have
- 13:49Speaker 5: an opinion. You guys got opinions more times than that.
- 13:51Speaker 5: You're probably right.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Maybe you're not up to speed on your politics, bro,
- 13:56Speaker 1: and how this goes. You could be living in a
- 13:58Speaker 1: country soon where you might get you know, shipped off
- 14:01Speaker 1: to Uruguay for saying certain things. You know, a certain
- 14:04Speaker 1: guy gets elected.
- 14:05Speaker 2: You know you're Uruguay is do what he wants, Bawl.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I would love to.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Spend some time in Uruguay and Brazil and Argentina, but
- 14:17Speaker 5: not at the expense of leaving the greatest country in
- 14:20Speaker 5: the world.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you're not going to be welcoming much longer
- 14:23Speaker 1: unless you'll stop complaining and start looking to change things.
- 14:28Speaker 1: You know, Rob, this is the thing. You don't understand
- 14:30Speaker 1: how to do TV. You don't understand how to give solutions.
- 14:33Speaker 2: You just bitch and all you do is complain. But
- 14:36Speaker 2: there's no solutions.
- 14:37Speaker 1: They do. Send you down to Uruguay. I want you
- 14:39Speaker 1: to look around, because you know what the South American
- 14:41Speaker 1: teams do when the when the when the teams lose
- 14:43Speaker 1: the players use they just execute them, just shoot them,
- 14:46Speaker 1: crash their plane, kidnapped them, you know, just easy. Don't
- 14:49Speaker 1: you think maybe that's the approach America needs to start doing.
- 14:53Speaker 1: You know, to motivate and you know, murder players.
- 14:57Speaker 5: That's that's one way to achieved motivation. I'm not sure
- 15:02Speaker 5: that would I'm not sure that would fly here. Maybe
- 15:07Speaker 5: maybe next year, you know, broken.
- 15:09Speaker 3: You know, I saw that one Netflix show, the Escoball Show.
- 15:15Speaker 3: You know, don't you think he had the right approach,
- 15:18Speaker 3: you know, not with his other enterprises, but with soccer
- 15:21Speaker 3: when it came to motivating and murdering soccer plays. Didn't
- 15:25Speaker 3: that Wasn't that the writing mentality?
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 15:28Speaker 5: Bro, it's an approach. I might offer some other solutions maybe,
- 15:35Speaker 5: but that you know, fear is a great motivator, correct.
- 15:38Speaker 2: See.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Yeah, See what if I stood outside the Fox Sports
- 15:41Speaker 1: studios and I said, crow ball the next time, you
