Transcript
- Lucas: Hola, bienvenidos al episodio 107 de Learn Spanish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready to learn some Spanish for your next trip? Lucas: Today we're going to a hotel. You're arriving, and you need to ask for a room. Let's start with the first question: '¿Tienen una habitación libre?' Luna: ¿Tienen una habitación libre? That means 'Do you have a free room?' Lucas: Exactly. 'Tienen' means 'do you have', 'habitación' is 'room', and 'libre' means 'free' or 'available'. Let's hear it once more: '¿Tienen una habitación libre?' Luna: ¿Tienen una habitación libre? Hmm, I think I've got it. ¿Tienen una habitación libre? Lucas: Perfect. Now the next thing you'll want to know is the price. '¿Cuánto cuesta por noche?' Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche? How much for the night? Lucas: Right. 'Cuesta' is 'costs', 'por noche' is 'per night'. So: '¿Cuánto cuesta por noche?' Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche? Good. So I ask if they have a room, then ask the price. Lucas: Exactly. Now imagine you want a nice view. You can say: 'Quiero una habitación con vista.' Luna: Quiero una habitación con vista. I want a room with a view. Lucas: Yes. 'Vista' means 'view'. You could also say 'con vista al mar' if you want a sea view, but let's keep it simple. 'Quiero una habitación con vista.' Luna: Quiero una habitación con vista. That sounds lovely. Lucas: Now, breakfast is important. You can ask: '¿Incluye desayuno?' Luna: ¿Incluye desayuno? Does it include breakfast? Lucas: Right. 'Incluye' is 'includes', 'desayuno' is 'breakfast'. So: '¿Incluye desayuno?' Luna: ¿Incluye desayuno? That's a good one to know. Lucas: And when it's time to pay, you might want to say: 'Puedo pagar con tarjeta.' Luna: Puedo pagar con tarjeta. I can pay with card. Lucas: Exactly. 'Puedo' is 'I can', 'pagar' is 'to pay', 'con tarjeta' means 'with card'. Very useful. Luna: Puedo pagar con tarjeta. Good, no need for cash. Lucas: Finally, they might tell you where your room is. 'La habitación está en el segundo piso.' Luna: La habitación está en el segundo piso. The room is on the second floor. Lucas: Yes. 'Segundo' means 'second', 'piso' means 'floor'. So you'll hear that a lot. Luna: La habitación está en el segundo piso. Okay, I think I can handle checking into a hotel now. Lucas: Let's do a quick scene. You approach the front desk. I'm the receptionist. Luna: Okay, here goes. Buenos días. ¿Tienen una habitación libre? Lucas: Sí, tenemos una. ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche? You ask. Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche? Lucas: Cuesta ochenta euros por noche. ¿Incluye desayuno? You ask. Luna: ¿Incluye desayuno? Lucas: Sí, incluye desayuno. Quiero una habitación con vista. You say. Luna: Quiero una habitación con vista. Lucas: Tenemos una en el segundo piso. Puedo pagar con tarjeta. You say. Luna: Puedo pagar con tarjeta. Lucas: Perfecto. Aquí tiene su llave. La habitación está en el segundo piso. Luna: Oh, I got a room! That felt real. I love that we can actually have a conversation now. Lucas: Absolutely. Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche? Lucas: Quiero una habitación con vista. Luna: Quiero una habitación con vista. Lucas: ¿Incluye desayuno? Luna: ¿Incluye desayuno? Lucas: Puedo pagar con tarjeta. Luna: Puedo pagar con tarjeta. Lucas: La habitación está en el segundo piso. Luna: La habitación está en el segundo piso. Lucas: Great job, Luna. Now you're ready for a hotel stay. Practice these before your next trip. See you next time. Luna: Adiós! And happy traveling.
