- 0:06Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:09Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good morning. The weekend
- 0:12Speaker 1: is officially here. When is the next long weekend, ah,
- 0:15Speaker 1: by the way?
- 0:15Speaker 2: May 1st. That's Labor Day on a Friday.
- 0:18Speaker 1: That's in like a week's time, is it? No, 2 weeks. No,
- 0:21Speaker 1: you're right. It's
- 0:22Speaker 2: in a week's time. OK, looking forward to
- 0:24Speaker 1: that. Well, Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Something's happening over the weekend here in Singapore. If you're
- 0:34Speaker 2: doing the music run. Oh, it's still
- 0:37Speaker 1: around. That's on Saturday, I believe. Do you know, fun fact,
- 0:39Speaker 1: I actually hosted some of the first few editions of
- 0:42Speaker 1: the music run like years ago. I was still quite
- 0:45Speaker 1: a new host back then on 1987.
- 0:49Speaker 1: We didn't, we didn't. We did something else together. I
- 0:51Speaker 1: think it was a Puma run or something. I Ilumi run, yeah,
- 0:54Speaker 1: we did a night run, yeah, Ilumi run. There were
- 0:56Speaker 1: a lot of these smaller fun runs back then. Music
- 1:00Speaker 1: run was very memorable for me. Let me tell you why, OK.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Wasn't my fittest at that point. In fact, have I
- 1:06Speaker 1: ever really been fit? I don't know.
- 1:08Speaker 1: But I was way less fit than uh than I
- 1:10Speaker 1: am now, OK, back then. So I co-hosted with their
- 1:13Speaker 1: traveling host. So you know, some runs like even previously
- 1:16Speaker 1: what was the Stantrap marathon, um, they did have a
- 1:19Speaker 1: traveling host with them that's permanent throughout all. You might
- 1:22Speaker 1: remember him for
- 1:23Speaker 2: SG marathon, shout out to Mr.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. So, um.
- 1:27Speaker 1: From Music Run, there was a guy as well. His
- 1:29Speaker 1: name escapes me right now, but we had so much
- 1:31Speaker 1: fun hosting together. Uh, did way more than what we
- 1:34Speaker 1: were tasked to do because it became like a clubbing thing,
- 1:37Speaker 1: you know, after everyone finished the run, right? After everything wrapped,
- 1:41Speaker 1: and I went home, that was my first time hosting
- 1:43Speaker 1: such an intense type of program. Dude, I, the moment
- 1:47Speaker 1: I stepped into my house, right, my mom, I was
- 1:49Speaker 1: still living with my parents back then.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I literally just collapsed to the ground and sat there
- 1:52Speaker 1: because I think the lactic acid buildup, the lactic acid
- 1:55Speaker 1: buildup on my legs was so intense that I couldn't
- 1:57Speaker 1: even move my legs after, and my mom just looked
- 1:59Speaker 1: at me like, what happened now
- 2:00Speaker 2: lah? Hey, by the way, it's sold out, yeah, so
- 2:03Speaker 2: 25th of April F1 pit building. Have a great night.
- 2:07Speaker 2: And I think it's running 5 km and then the
- 2:09Speaker 2: party after that
- 2:10Speaker 1: the beat that's happening tomorrow, so I'm glad to hear
- 2:12Speaker 1: that it's still around.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Friday, it's a public holiday, so count down as you would. Yes,
- 2:19Speaker 1: yeah, I mean, um, I don't have any special plans whatsoever,
- 2:23Speaker 1: although I believe that for some of my friends they're
- 2:26Speaker 1: trying to convince me.
- 2:27Speaker 1: To play paddle on like the 1st of May. That's OK. Yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 1: they're like, because a lot of the paddle places have
- 2:33Speaker 1: become really social and they've like food, drinks, like, like
- 2:37Speaker 1: playing music, like it's a club, you know, kind of thing.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So I don't mind.
- 2:40Speaker 2: So I was running by the Formula One pit building
- 2:43Speaker 2: yesterday and I saw that the T100 meta sprint series.
- 2:47Speaker 2: They're setting up all the tentage and the barricades already.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I'm sorry,
- 2:50Speaker 1: what is that? Some race
- 2:51Speaker 2: triathlon
- 2:52Speaker 2: triathlon, and, and it's one of the triathlons to do. OK.
- 2:55Speaker 2: So I think we've got the Singapore version happening this weekend.
- 2:58Speaker 2: So all the best to all triathletes. Make sure you
- 3:01Speaker 2: listen to your body, and I'm very sure you could
- 3:03Speaker 2: be on your taper cycles right now.
- 3:05Speaker 1: How
- 3:05Speaker 2: do
- 3:05Speaker 1: we do? How do you do 3 things, man?
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah, some people are just built differently.
- 3:10Speaker 1: So wait, so is it cycling, running, swimming? You swim
- 3:14Speaker 1: first swim first.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Then where do they swim then you run the Singapore
- 3:17Speaker 2: River could be the Singapore River. Oh,
- 3:19Speaker 1: so it's not confirmed like where they are swimming.
- 3:21Speaker 2: It should be there.
- 3:23Speaker 1: They will never swim in a pool or anything, right?
- 3:25Speaker 1: It be like an open water situation swim
- 3:27Speaker 2: in the
- 3:27Speaker 1: pool. Just checking, swimming pool, so not so
- 3:30Speaker 2: bad. Honestly, if I could swim, I would have tried
- 3:33Speaker 2: one in my lifetime.
- 3:35Speaker 2: But knowing that it's a Singapore River, I don't know
- 3:38Speaker 2: whether I want to
- 3:39Speaker 2: jump.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 2: that's true.
- 3:45Speaker 1: You can watch him attempting to swim on 987 Socials.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Scroll back quite a little bit, but that video kind
- 3:51Speaker 1: of popped off. Yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 2: because of you in a bikini, not me, dude,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I was barely seen in the bikini at all. It
- 3:57Speaker 1: was you. We'll catch Robert in Singapore very soon, but
- 4:01Speaker 1: also I believe we may be able to have a
- 4:03Speaker 1: chat with him prior to Media Cloud 90, that's what
- 4:07Speaker 1: I heard from some of our people here in the studio.
- 4:10Speaker 2: If you're having a
- 4:10Speaker 2: chat with him, can we milk it and get him
- 4:13Speaker 2: to sing us a few songs? I mean, I always
- 4:17Speaker 2: found the notion of bringing singers into our studio they
- 4:19Speaker 2: got to sing at least
- 4:20Speaker 1: one song he does do some of his own content
- 4:22Speaker 1: on socials like he just sings and stuff. So hopefully, yeah. Anyway,
- 4:26Speaker 1: coming up in just a little bit, a headline that
- 4:29Speaker 1: just made me laugh and face palm and think of you, Joe. OK.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Only one portion of this headline made me think of you.
- 4:36Speaker 1: You want to hear it?
- 4:36Speaker 2: I know what it involves.
- 4:39Speaker 2: The look on your face I know already because I
- 4:41Speaker 2: was reading the very same article on my way
- 4:44Speaker 2: here.
- 4:45Speaker 1: It involves crows. Yes, I knew it. Can I please
- 4:48Speaker 1: read the headline out in just a few minutes? I
- 4:51Speaker 1: can burst out laughing. OK. And this headline just cracked
- 4:55Speaker 1: me up this morning. OK. I think it's a bit
- 4:58Speaker 1: of um.
- 4:59Speaker 1: It's a bit of false advertising, but let me just
- 5:01Speaker 1: tell you what the headline said, OK? 3 crows attack
- 5:06Speaker 1: balding men outside Chinatown complex. Not men, men, men. Expert
- 5:12Speaker 1: says it might be due to a grudge against bald men.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I was like, what? This is a clickbait for sure.
- 5:23Speaker 1: It's rich bait. It's rich bait, OK.
- 5:25Speaker 2: What did your dad do?
- 5:28Speaker 2: What did Papa do?
- 5:31Speaker 1: Man's hardly at Chinatown, so he's safe. Yeah, but I
- 5:34Speaker 1: just really just cracked me up because, OK, there is
- 5:38Speaker 1: a logical explanation for this, but I think the way
- 5:41Speaker 1: that this publication wrote it was quite funny lah. Maybe
- 5:43Speaker 1: they just found the humor in it, you know, um,
- 5:45Speaker 1: but more than 10 people have been attacked around the
- 5:48Speaker 1: same area in a week. Most of them are bald
- 5:51Speaker 1: or thin-haired men, OK.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I know, unfortunately, this was in the article. So, according
- 5:57Speaker 1: to experts, they say it's probably because um the reflection
- 6:02Speaker 1: of their heads makes it quite shiny and it attracts
- 6:05Speaker 1: the crows, you see. So they immediately swoop down and
- 6:09Speaker 1: I guess some somehow attack them.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Um, but that's the logical explanation. So the way that
- 6:14Speaker 1: it was phrased, a grudge against bald men, I just
- 6:17Speaker 1: thought it was
- 6:18Speaker 1: hilarious.
- 6:19Speaker 2: OK, it's not your dad, what did?
- 6:25Speaker 1: What happened? Careful, you're gonna be in his next comedy sketch.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Time to open up phone lines. 669-11987. This is your
- 6:32Speaker 1: final chance.
- 6:33Speaker 1: This week on our show to walk away with 4
- 6:36Speaker 1: tickets to cloud nine.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Again, it's happening May 9th over at Arena at Expo.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Not one, not two, but 8 different acts. Shout out
- 6:43Speaker 2: to Singapore's very own Why Lucas and Kiara, who's back
- 6:48Speaker 2: on the decks. I'm so happy she said yes. Yes,
- 6:50Speaker 1: yeah, you know, she's one girl that has been there
- 6:53Speaker 1: from the start, and we've seen her grow.
- 6:55Speaker 1: As well, over the past few years, she's really like
- 6:57Speaker 1: popped off, so we're very proud of her. Give us
- 6:59Speaker 1: a call right now, 669-11987. Tell us what school you're from.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Give your school a shout out, flex your school a
- 7:05Speaker 1: little bit. Maybe you can even request
- 7:07Speaker 2: a song. And by the way, if you're, if you're
- 7:09Speaker 2: from MGS, the video that we did with you guys
- 7:12Speaker 2: with your Sophia
- 7:14Speaker 1: Sophia Society Sophia.
- 7:17Speaker 2: It's out on TikTok and
- 7:19Speaker 1: Instagram.e. And hello. Good morning. It's Lily. Hello, Elise, which
- 7:25Speaker 1: school are you from? Juan
- 7:26Speaker 2: Primary. Juan Primary, is it? Yes. And what level are
- 7:30Speaker 2: you in? Primary 5.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Primary 5. OK, that means, are you on your way
- 7:34Speaker 1: to school with your family right now, like someone in
- 7:36Speaker 1: the car?
- 7:39Speaker 2: Morning. So yes, I googled Chun Yen Primary schools over
- 7:43Speaker 2: at the Tampines.
- 7:44Speaker 2: East West area.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I think Anne Nicole has been to Chun Yen Primary before.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Quite
- 7:49Speaker 2: near Bedok
- 7:49Speaker 1: Reservoir. Oh, OK. Anyway, um, what is the most favorite
- 7:53Speaker 1: thing about your school? Uh, the food.
- 7:55Speaker 2: OK, what about the food? What is your favorite store?
- 7:57Speaker 1: All the stores are nice. All are nice. Alright, fantastic.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Now we want to get you a song here today.
- 8:03Speaker 1: What song would you like? Uh, by. You got it. Yeah.
- 8:08Speaker 1: And on that note, congratulations. You're also going to cloud now.
- 8:13Speaker 2: your entire family. Arena at Expo, May 9th. Enjoy 8
- 8:19Speaker 2: different acts that we have for you, OK?
- 8:21Speaker 1: Yes, see you soon, OK? Thank you. lonely girl, taking
- 8:24Speaker 1: us back to our teenage years.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Not just us, but hey, Billie Eilish, her latest Instagram post.
- 8:31Speaker 2: It's a carousel post of all her Justin Bieber fandom days.
- 8:35Speaker 1: So cute.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I've never guessed. I mean, if you just look at
- 8:38Speaker 1: Billie Eilish as Billie, and you listen to her music,
- 8:41Speaker 1: I don't really hear much of Justin Bieber like inspiration there.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, like indie artists maybe even, yeah, but that's
- 8:51Speaker 1: so cool of her, honestly. And I can't believe that
- 8:53Speaker 1: she got her moment. I can only imagine how she
- 8:55Speaker 1: felt because she was crying. Well done to Hailey Bieber. Anyway, um,
- 8:59Speaker 1: this is interesting, and I feel like Singapore should learn
- 9:01Speaker 1: a little bit from our friends across the causeway when
- 9:04Speaker 1: it comes to employment. OK.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Over at several Shell stations in Malaysia, they seem to
- 9:11Speaker 1: have hired some cats, Joakim.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I'm talking cats, like, yeah, oh.
- 9:18Speaker 1: So, this, uh, these photos have gone viral because these
- 9:22Speaker 1: cats are not only seen very often at Shell stations
- 9:25Speaker 1: over in Malaysia. They've got uniforms now lah. They gave
- 9:30Speaker 1: the cats a shell shell station uniform. Can I ask
- 9:33Speaker 1: what do the cats do, right? What do they do?
- 9:35Speaker 1: Good question. Um, one of them was seen taking a
- 9:37Speaker 1: poop in the uniform.
- 9:40Speaker 1: During working hours, um, others are ready to greet you
- 9:43Speaker 1: at the, at the entrance, I guess, but I, I
- 9:47Speaker 1: feel like these are just cats that have already been
- 9:50Speaker 1: there and they love sticking around the station. People take
- 9:53Speaker 1: care of them and all. So I guess they decided,
- 9:55Speaker 1: why not put them to work, you know, that's how
- 9:56Speaker 1: I feel about my family dog, Maxi. I'm like,
- 9:59Speaker 2: get to work,
- 9:59Speaker 2: sis. They're getting paid for doing nothing,
- 10:02Speaker 1: pretty much, maybe just
- 10:03Speaker 2: like some humans here in Singapore.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Come on, let's be honest.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Very savage. It's only 7:14 in the morning, but it's true.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Savage but true.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Am
- 10:13Speaker 1: I lying? OK,
- 10:14Speaker 2: OK. OK, so an AirAsia video, a video, it's more
- 10:20Speaker 2: of like a passenger film this whole thing happening on
- 10:22Speaker 2: board an AirAsia
- 10:23Speaker 2: flight
- 10:24Speaker 1: type of video.
- 10:25Speaker 2: It's gone viral and it's now unintentionally become a Visit
- 10:29Speaker 2: Malaysia ad. How, how, how?
- 10:31Speaker 2: What happened was on a flight from Chongqing to KL,
- 10:34Speaker 2: and again, sometimes the stereotype gets proven correct. OK. There
- 10:39Speaker 2: was a lady on board who was talking very loudly
- 10:43Speaker 2: on her phone. So obviously this will annoy a few passengers, right?
- 10:47Speaker 2: So I think one other passenger filmed her in the
- 10:50Speaker 2: act of talking very loudly on the phone. She got angry,
- 10:54Speaker 2: started to throw a tantrum. The air steward.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Spoke to her in English. She got angrier.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Why?
- 11:01Speaker 2: Speak in Mandarin. Oh, she doesn't. We are in Chongqing, OK,
- 11:05Speaker 1: she doesn't understand English or she's just being difficult.
- 11:08Speaker 2: I think she did not understand English.
- 11:10Speaker 1: OK.
- 11:10Speaker 2: So she, her, her temper got worse in order to
- 11:13Speaker 2: the point where the Chongqing police were on board
- 11:15Speaker 2: the flight.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Wait, what? That's the whole flight delayed lah. I'm sure,
- 11:18Speaker 2: yeah. And then what you see is this very patient lady.
- 11:23Speaker 2: She could be a.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Ground crew of the AirAsia staff, right, and she was
- 11:26Speaker 2: just next to the lady who was throwing a tantrum,
- 11:29Speaker 2: holding her hand, nodding her head, saying, yes, you know,
- 11:32Speaker 2: I understand, I understand. And the lady who's so angry
- 11:35Speaker 2: kept saying that, no, how come y'all cannot speak Mandarin,
- 11:38Speaker 2: you know, I, I admit, yeah, I've been talking on
- 11:41Speaker 2: the phone a bit too loudly, but because the announcement
- 11:43Speaker 2: for the, um, the flight takeoff happened in English, and
- 11:46Speaker 2: you know that you're supposed to not use your phone
- 11:48Speaker 2: during takeoff, right?
- 11:50Speaker 2: And then the angry lady says, I'm also an air
- 11:53Speaker 2: stewardess on board a different airline. That's why the comment
- 11:56Speaker 2: section are going, if you're an air stewardess, you would
- 11:58Speaker 2: know you cannot use your phone before you take off
- 12:00Speaker 2: or when they announce it, right?
- 12:03Speaker 1: Yeah, OK, but that being said, um, that's quite interesting
- 12:06Speaker 1: because I noticed like, you know, every time, let's say
- 12:08Speaker 1: we travel to different countries that have
- 12:11Speaker 1: Different mother tongues, right, or different languages. Typically, they will
- 12:14Speaker 1: have like at least one or two crew members that
- 12:18Speaker 1: can speak the language. So I am curious, like, why
- 12:21Speaker 1: was there no one on board that could speak Mandarin
- 12:24Speaker 1: and to try and appease her? I mean,
- 12:26Speaker 2: different carriers, for example, if you fly Qatar Airways, for example,
- 12:30Speaker 2: they will have the announcement in their language.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And then the other language that maybe from the country
- 12:34Speaker 1: they're flying from, right? Yeah
- 12:36Speaker 2: and English whatsoever.
- 12:37Speaker 1: And I think for quite a few, especially for the
- 12:40Speaker 1: Middle East airlines, some of them actually pride themselves in
- 12:43Speaker 1: being polyglots, like they can speak at least 34 languages,
- 12:46Speaker 1: you know.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 12:53Speaker 2: People are saying, OK, now I want to go to
- 12:55Speaker 2: Malaysia because all the other passengers on board the plane,
- 12:59Speaker 2: the plane were watching the whole thing and smiling and
- 13:01Speaker 2: just recording the whole thing as well. Yes, they say, Well,
- 13:04Speaker 2: Malaysians are chill, man.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Very chill, yeah, yeah, man. We, we love it. I
- 13:08Speaker 1: think you and I are due a trip to Malaysia
- 13:10Speaker 1: soon actually, if you ask me. You know what, we
- 13:12Speaker 1: haven't been together.
- 13:13Speaker 2: We haven't traveled overseas for anything together at all throughout
- 13:17Speaker 2: our careers. The first and only time we
- 13:19Speaker 2: did it.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Would you call that
- 13:22Speaker 2: an overseas trip?
- 13:23Speaker 1: I mean, it was still out of Singapore. I got
- 13:26Speaker 1: the message on my phone like, welcome to Malaysia. Welcome
- 13:29Speaker 1: to wherever. But honestly,
- 13:31Speaker 2: you and I are like a circuit to somewhere
- 13:35Speaker 2: around the world. So if we,
- 13:36Speaker 1: OK, let's say if we do plan a road trip
- 13:39Speaker 1: or something to Malaysia, like who's gonna drive us?
- 13:42Speaker 2: Take turns.
- 13:43Speaker 1: We take turns to drive.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Why are you scared?
- 13:45Speaker 2: I'm an OK driver. It's the parking I need help with.
- 13:49Speaker 1: OK, so you take the long distance. Then when it
- 13:52Speaker 1: comes to parking, you wake me up, OK.
- 13:56Speaker 2: 87 secret.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Good
- 14:01Speaker 1: morning.
- 14:03Speaker 2: This is
- 14:04Speaker 2: Jack. Hello
- 14:05Speaker 1: Jack, what's going on for you today? How's your weekend looking? Yeah, good.
- 14:09Speaker 1: What are you doing over the weekend?
- 14:10Speaker 2: Uh,
- 14:10Speaker 2: badminton, playing badminton. And Jack, if you win $9000 what's
- 14:16Speaker 2: going to happen to all that money? Oh, I have
- 14:18Speaker 2: no idea
- 14:18Speaker 1: yet. OK, well, you think about it if you win
- 14:21Speaker 1: the $900
- 14:22Speaker 2: OK first, think later.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Alright, now listen very carefully. Here's the sound
- 14:26Speaker 1: you have to identify.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Jack, for $9000 what's the secret sound? The sound of Metronome.
- 14:35Speaker 1: You are incorrect.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Your
- 14:38Speaker 1: chance
- 14:38Speaker 2: to play
- 14:38Speaker 1: 987's
- 14:39Speaker 2: secret sound.
- 14:43Speaker 2: That sound.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Jack, I didn't even need to text boss Janice because
- 14:49Speaker 2: metronome has been said many times. It is not the
- 14:53Speaker 2: correct answer. You got to tune to every show,
- 14:55Speaker 1: OK? Yeah, keep trying, Jack. Have a good weekend. Enjoy badminton.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Yes,
- 14:59Speaker 1: enjoy. Bye.
- 15:06Speaker 2: What's that?
- 15:08Speaker 1: About to open up phone lines right now. Come, what's
- 15:10Speaker 1: the tea? So why do you always assume that I
- 15:13Speaker 1: have some sort of tea?
- 15:14Speaker 2: You're the
- 15:15Speaker 1: one
- 15:15Speaker 2: with all the tea.
- 15:16Speaker 1: That's the only reason why you're friends with me, right?
- 15:18Speaker 1: I
- 15:18Speaker 2: just show up and give you my opinion. Like no
- 15:21Speaker 2: one asked for, like any other Singaporean podcast, like
- 15:24Speaker 1: any other Singaporean bro.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Sometimes I pity the bros because, you know, they don't
- 15:31Speaker 1: have much tea in their lives, right? They always depend
- 15:33Speaker 1: on their female friends or partners, you know.
- 15:36Speaker 2: OK, when I watch male-driven podcasts like Diary of a CEO,
- 15:41Speaker 2: the host so calm. Like, tell us more about your life.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Tell us more about this situation. Women podcast.
- 15:49Speaker 1: It's like hit me up.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Tell me
- 15:52Speaker 2: more. Yeah, yeah,
- 15:54Speaker 1: we're unhinged. Um, a bit different like that one he's
- 15:58Speaker 1: really interviewing some.
- 16:00Speaker 1: People up there, you know, that's quite true actually. Anyway, uh,
- 16:03Speaker 1: just happening tonight, one of my very close friends, uh,
- 16:07Speaker 1: hey Natasha, who moved back to Singapore not too long
- 16:10Speaker 1: ago from New Zealand actually, yeah. So she's based here
- 16:13Speaker 1: now and she's celebrating her birthday soon, but we wanted to,
- 16:17Speaker 1: since we all aligned that tonight we have a free night,
- 16:20Speaker 1: a free date for dinner. She has requested since
- 16:23Speaker 1: She's been away from Singapore for too long. She wants
- 16:26Speaker 1: to go to Hai Tilauo and experience the whole birthday
- 16:29Speaker 1: thing there.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I'm,
- 16:29Speaker 2: I'm also free tonight, by the way.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Hey, hello, this one, my friends. OK. Hello,
- 16:35Speaker 2: I know your friends. I'm gonna be seeing them real soon,
- 16:38Speaker 2: and this is the 2nd Hai Tilau you're having
- 16:41Speaker 2: of
- 16:41Speaker 1: the year without me. OK, I want to complain. I
- 16:44Speaker 1: knew I was going to get myself into some trouble
- 16:46Speaker 1: talking about this.
- 16:48Speaker 1: So anyway, what these are my schoolmates. So anyway, we said, sure, OK,
- 16:56Speaker 1: let's go. So then I texted, I said, OK, I
- 16:58Speaker 1: think we need to make um a reservation because you
- 17:01Speaker 1: know the way Haitilla reservations work is that even though
- 17:03Speaker 1: you reserve, you still got to go down and make
- 17:05Speaker 1: sure that you get your number, right?
- 17:06Speaker 2: So I'm guessing you gave the call.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I did. I gave the call in Mandarin, yes, and then.
- 17:18Speaker 1: OK, so then, um, I texted my, my, the birthday girl.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I said, hey, um, will your husband be coming? OK.
- 17:27Speaker 1: She just got married like 2 years ago. Congratulations. So
- 17:29Speaker 1: then I said, will your husband be coming? And then
- 17:31Speaker 1: she replied, she said, Sansa, uh, he says he will
- 17:35Speaker 1: go if germs goes.
- 17:40Speaker 2: I know exactly how your friend's husband feels.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Yes, I mean, because it is a birthday dinner, right?
- 17:47Speaker 1: So naturally you would assume that the partner will come.
- 17:50Speaker 1: So that that that that's why I burst out laughing.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I texted Germ, who initially wasn't invited because I thought
- 17:56Speaker 1: it was a girls thing, um, and I said, Jerm,
- 17:58Speaker 1: are you free for to come or not because your,
- 18:01Speaker 1: your presence has been requested by Natasha's husband.
- 18:05Speaker 1: And he goes, OK, OK, OK, OK, sure.
- 18:07Speaker 2: No, no, germs Natasha's husband a favor.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Germs should say no. He's not free,
- 18:15Speaker 1: so
- 18:15Speaker 2: he
- 18:15Speaker 1: can stay home and
- 18:15Speaker 2: rest, yes, and you can have your girly catch up.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Look, I don't know because I guess her husband wants
- 18:21Speaker 1: to come, so he does like Heidi Lao. He does
- 18:23Speaker 1: like Heidi Lao, so he said he'll go if germs goes. But,
- 18:26Speaker 1: but I think back and if germs don't go, he's
- 18:28Speaker 1: not gonna go lah. It's a bro support system, is it?
- 18:31Speaker 1: What's going on here? So
- 18:32Speaker 2: now Germs
- 18:32Speaker 2: and this guy sit through
- 18:36Speaker 1: and but they can talk together now. So that's the thing.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I realized that there were moments where her husband has
- 18:40Speaker 1: joined us, you know, for certain meetups like spontaneously, like
- 18:44Speaker 1: drinks or whatever.
- 18:45Speaker 1: And the poor dude sometimes just looks lost, you know,
- 18:48Speaker 1: because he's just sipping on his beer, staring into space.
- 18:51Speaker 1: He doesn't know what's
- 18:52Speaker 1: going on.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Can I be honest with you? I'm exactly like yours. OK,
- 18:59Speaker 2: I wanna give an example, for all these media events
- 19:02Speaker 2: I get invited to my first question to my manager is,
- 19:04Speaker 2: is Sonia?
- 19:06Speaker 1: If Sonia is not
- 19:07Speaker 1: going, I'm not going.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Is Sonia hosting or going because if she's there, I'll
- 19:10Speaker 2: feel comfortable because I know like I have my safety,
- 19:13Speaker 2: safety blanket.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm a very small safety blanket. I
- 19:17Speaker 1: hate to admit this to you, but yeah, I'm the
- 19:20Speaker 1: tiniest safety blanket
- 19:21Speaker 1: ever.
- 19:21Speaker 2: So my manager will tell me, oh, So's not going.
- 19:24Speaker 2: I'm like, OK, I'm not free.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I know you too well. Yeah, I mean, and sometimes
- 19:31Speaker 1: she will tell me, you know, she say, Hey, Joe
- 19:33Speaker 1: said he don't want to go because you don't want
- 19:34Speaker 1: to go.
- 19:35Speaker 2: You, you know me, if I'm not hosting a media
- 19:37Speaker 2: event or anything, I don't want to go. Like socializing
- 19:40Speaker 2: really isn't
- 19:42Speaker 2: my strongest.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I get you. I get you. I don't think you're alone.
- 19:44Speaker 1: on that. Um, give us a call 669-11987 or drop
- 19:48Speaker 1: us a WhatsApp message, 900509-87. Do you sometimes find yourself
- 19:53Speaker 1: in this situation as well? Like, for example, at a
- 19:56Speaker 1: work event, if your favorite friend at the office is
- 19:58Speaker 1: not going, you're not gonna go. Or maybe in your
- 20:01Speaker 1: social circle, if you go, I go. You don't go,
- 20:03Speaker 1: I don't go.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Very Singaporean way of saying it, but it's, you know
- 20:07Speaker 1: what I mean.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Let
- 20:08Speaker 2: us know. 669-11987 or WhatsApp us at 90050987. If we
- 20:14Speaker 2: do like your answer, what's coming your way, of course,
- 20:16Speaker 2: a dining experience, the Estate Restaurant over at Hilton Singapore Orchard.
- 20:20Speaker 2: This one must go,
- 20:23Speaker 2: seriously,
- 20:24Speaker 1: this one we've heard so many great raving reviews about it.
- 20:27Speaker 1: We're talking about our social habits, OK. Um, just recently, uh, my,
- 20:33Speaker 1: my friends and I were arranging a birthday dinner for
- 20:35Speaker 1: one of my close friends from Poly, and it's happening tonight,
- 20:38Speaker 1: to which I was in charge of the booking and
- 20:40Speaker 1: I asked her like, hey, um, will your husband be coming?
- 20:43Speaker 1: And she messaged me privately. She said, he said he
- 20:46Speaker 1: will go with Germs goes.
- 20:48Speaker 1: To which Joakim said he can relate 100%. Like, sometimes
- 20:52Speaker 1: you just need that person that you feel comfortable with
- 20:55Speaker 1: or like someone that you are socially, you know, it
- 20:59Speaker 1: makes you socially less awkward.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Someone who can bring out your social side. Yeah, so I,
- 21:03Speaker 1: I know for sure that her husband and germs are
- 21:06Speaker 1: going to just be in one corner talking about men
- 21:07Speaker 1: things or whatever they talk about, and the rest of
- 21:09Speaker 1: us are going to be yapping. What do they talk about?
- 21:12Speaker 1: No sports. I think they talk a lot about sports
- 21:15Speaker 1: and American football.
- 21:16Speaker 1: And all that stuff. So that's the, that's the boy corner. OK,
- 21:19Speaker 1: just two
- 21:20Speaker 1: of them.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Jeremy is the only Asian guy I know that actually
- 21:23Speaker 2: owns an actual American football.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Yes, like the literal football,
- 21:28Speaker 2: rugby balls don't count, but the actual football, he's the
- 21:32Speaker 2: only Asian guy I know that owns one. Yeah,
- 21:34Speaker 1: he likes it a lot, Jeremy. But anyway, yeah, so
- 21:36Speaker 1: we decided to open up phone lines and messages as
- 21:38Speaker 1: well to find out from you.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Have you ever been in those social situations or you
- 21:42Speaker 1: have that one friend that's like, you go, I go.
- 21:45Speaker 1: If you don't go, I'm not going.
- 21:46Speaker 2: By the way, you're that friend for me. Oh yes,
- 21:48Speaker 2: I know. Want to say good morning to James. Hey guys,
- 21:50Speaker 2: I used to be like this, always looking for a
- 21:52Speaker 2: colleague to join me for that meeting or seminar. Sooner
- 21:55Speaker 2: or later it came to a point that I had
- 21:57Speaker 2: to go, if not lose my opportunity to get in
- 22:00Speaker 2: more business for the company. So it's not really worth
- 22:03Speaker 2: it to lose income, business for my comfort. OK, this
- 22:06Speaker 2: one is different. If there's income involved or.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Opportunity to network. I'm there because it's very important for
- 22:13Speaker 2: our line of work as well. I think just,
- 22:15Speaker 1: you just don't have the mental capacity for other kinds
- 22:18Speaker 1: of socializing.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'm just tired.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. No, I, I realized something. Sometimes when like
- 22:26Speaker 1: it's Friday night or something, and if both of us
- 22:29Speaker 1: are just kind of out, occasionally you might drop me
- 22:31Speaker 1: a message saying, hey, what, what, what are you doing, right?
- 22:33Speaker 1: And sometimes I'll reply you, Oh, I'm going to this party,
- 22:36Speaker 1: and your first question is always, who's going?
- 22:40Speaker 1: I don't know if you noticed this, but that's always
- 22:42Speaker 1: one of your first questions. Who's gonna be there?
- 22:45Speaker 2: Because if it's a party with, you know, the media crowd,
- 22:48Speaker 2: I don't want to be there. But if it's like
- 22:50Speaker 2: your personal friends who I love as well, I'm there.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I'll do a shot or
- 22:54Speaker 2: two with you guys.
- 22:54Speaker 1: So I already know that I have to list the names,
- 22:57Speaker 1: then see if we are good enough for to come
- 22:58Speaker 1: or not.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Don't say that, hey.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Anytime I'm
- 23:02Speaker 2: there.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Uh, keep, keep your messages and your calls coming through 669-11987. Yeah.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Do you find yourself in situations where you are, you know,
- 23:11Speaker 1: you and your friends are like, you go, I go.
- 23:13Speaker 1: If you don't go, I also don't want to go.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Let us know. I know it's a very Singaporean
- 23:16Speaker 2: way
- 23:16Speaker 1: of phrasing.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Why does this sound like the Titanic? You jump, I jump. No,
- 23:19Speaker 1: hey.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Let us know if you find yourself in these situations.
- 23:23Speaker 1: In exchange, the final dining experience worth $100 to Hilton
- 23:27Speaker 1: Hotels Estate. It's a beautiful place. Talking about your, um,
- 23:32Speaker 1: how would I call this, your social support system, OK?
- 23:36Speaker 1: Whether or not you're the kind of person that will
- 23:38Speaker 1: rely on a good friend showing up or your favorite
- 23:40Speaker 1: person at work showing up, then you decide to go
- 23:42Speaker 1: to a
- 23:43Speaker 1: gathering or events. Yeah,
- 23:45Speaker 2: we
- 23:45Speaker 2: have an anonymous texter coming in. Morning soldier, maybe keep
- 23:48Speaker 2: me anonymous today. OK,
- 23:50Speaker 1: sure,
- 23:51Speaker 2: sure. Um, how about the other way? They go, I
- 23:54Speaker 2: don't go. Oh, or in a corporate setting, if the
- 23:58Speaker 2: management goes, I don't want to go.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I wonder what kind of excuses Anonymous will
- 24:02Speaker 2: make. Sometimes we cannot be ourselves if they are there.
- 24:05Speaker 1: You're not wrong about that, that's for sure. I mean, I,
- 24:07Speaker 1: I think that we're all guilty of making up some
- 24:10Speaker 1: excuse at least once in our lives to avoid like
- 24:13Speaker 1: being in the same room with certain people. I
- 24:15Speaker 2: mean, look, I don't mind saying this Thursdays.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Tuning in. She knows, yeah, yeah, but it doesn't mean
- 24:23Speaker 1: you need to reiterate it on air for
- 24:24Speaker 2: 987, right? If Sonia isn't there, wow, damn damn boring.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Hey, you just have to survive one hour. That's one
- 24:34Speaker 1: hour in a week, man. Like,
- 24:35Speaker 2: yeah, so whenever every Thursday you're going, you're going, ah, OK, dude,
- 24:40Speaker 1: if we are already here, obviously we're going. There ain't
- 24:42Speaker 1: no choice about it.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Keep the calls coming in over at 669-11987.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Yeah, we do have on the line. What about you, Rena? Yes,
- 24:51Speaker 1: I do. Tell us more. Alright, usually, um, when I
- 24:56Speaker 1: want to go somewhere, uh, like a party, I'll make
- 24:59Speaker 1: sure that my friends are there.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Especially my buddy, so that you know we, we are
- 25:04Speaker 1: like hm OK, we have a, we have someone whom
- 25:07Speaker 1: we know. I mean you sound exactly like at this
- 25:09Speaker 1: point so
- 25:11Speaker 2: safe to say if they don't go, you won't go
- 25:14Speaker 2: kind of then I feel like
- 25:15Speaker 1: very
- 25:15Speaker 1: reluctant, uh, I dropped the, the, the idea of
- 25:19Speaker 1: going.
- 25:19Speaker 2: What would your excuse be?
- 25:22Speaker 1: Uh, say, oh, sorry, uh, I'm held out somewhere or,
- 25:26Speaker 1: or somehow I got to attend to my kids or
- 25:29Speaker 1: things like this, you know, that's a very lame excuse.
- 25:32Speaker 1: So blame the children,
- 25:33Speaker 2: but
- 25:34Speaker 2: aside from attend to my kids, yes, I'll use the, oh,
- 25:37Speaker 2: I got held up somewhere, or my shoot overrun. Oh
- 25:40Speaker 1: my God. Now I know already. Now I know when
- 25:42Speaker 1: Joim says that he just don't feel like going. I
- 25:44Speaker 1: won't say it to you. I can be honest with you. No,
- 25:47Speaker 1: but I will know that if you say that in
- 25:48Speaker 1: a group chat. Yes.
- 25:50Speaker 1: So don't sample me. Last couple of messages here and
- 25:53Speaker 1: uh one more phone call coming
- 25:54Speaker 1: through.
- 25:55Speaker 2: OK, this one is involving the phrase, you go, I go. Yeah,
- 25:57Speaker 1: you don't go, I also don't go. Super Singaporean,
- 26:00Speaker 2: I know. I want to say good morning to Sri,
- 26:02Speaker 2: who says, blessed morning, Sojo. I live with the clingiest
- 26:05Speaker 2: husband unknown to mankind. He can sit and entertain anyone
- 26:09Speaker 2: who comes home for hours without straining himself, but when
- 26:12Speaker 2: it comes to going out for social events, he cannot
- 26:15Speaker 2: go anywhere without me. Oh no. Can you believe it?
- 26:18Speaker 2: Even
- 26:19Speaker 2: For funerals, even if it's for his best friend, he cannot.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Once his aunt, his dad's sisters passed on, I was unwell.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Told him to go and I'll turn up for the
- 26:28Speaker 2: 16-day prayers. He replied, maybe I'll pass him some money
- 26:31Speaker 2: for the funeral expenses. I scolded him but ended up
- 26:34Speaker 2: going with him. He's so uncomfortable in any setting without me.
- 26:38Speaker 2: I love traveling. He travels to China frequently for work,
- 26:41Speaker 2: to a point I'm so sick of China now. I
- 26:43Speaker 2: go there almost every month. He needs to get checked. Wow, 3.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Really a scathing, a scathing review of the husband.
- 26:51Speaker 1: I bet she was typing while he was next to her.
- 26:54Speaker 1: She's like, you see, you see.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Jessie is on the line. What about you, Jessie? I
- 26:59Speaker 1: have too many experiences with this already. Like, uh, me
- 27:03Speaker 1: and my friend, we always check with each other whenever
- 27:07Speaker 1: we need to go for like networking events. So, so
- 27:11Speaker 1: the question is, if they are not going, will you
- 27:13Speaker 1: still go if it's a networking event related to work? No,
- 27:16Speaker 2: definitely not.
- 27:17Speaker 1: How
- 27:17Speaker 2: are you?
- 27:20Speaker 2: But I know how Jessie feels. Yeah, I'm not
- 27:22Speaker 2: very good at,
- 27:23Speaker 1: you know, small talk.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I think Joki can relate the whole topic of you go,
- 27:29Speaker 1: I go, you don't go, I also don't go in
- 27:32Speaker 1: a very Singaporean way. You need your social support system.
- 27:35Speaker 1: That's
- 27:37Speaker 2: how you know you have a bestie for life.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Oh, not by choice.
- 27:42Speaker 2: So your wedding, you go, I go,
- 27:45Speaker 1: you're hosting the dinner, you better be there.
- 27:49Speaker 1: By the way, Joe has no idea who I sat
- 27:50Speaker 1: him with. I'm just gonna make it a surprise.
- 27:54Speaker 1: See, I see the anxiety on his face.
- 27:59Speaker 1: This is giving me so much joy.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Jungon, is
- 28:02Speaker 2: it your wedding?
- 28:03Speaker 1: Sorry lah. No, no such thing.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Anyway, for today's winner, I want to give it to
- 28:08Speaker 2: JT who shared about his army story.
- 28:12Speaker 2: JT.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Congratulations. Uh, what a nice story, to be honest,
- 28:15Speaker 2: right? Long story short is, uh, before the OCS commissioning parade, uh,
- 28:20Speaker 2: JT's platoon mate was made to run the entire parade square,
- 28:23Speaker 2: and JT said, Hey guys, want to join him? All went. Yeah,
- 28:26Speaker 1: no, but initially, uh, I guess army bestie said, if
- 28:30Speaker 1: you go, I go. Yeah, correct. Yeah,
- 28:31Speaker 2: there you go.
- 28:32Speaker 1: And slowly, gradually they all joined.
- 28:34Speaker 2: So JT, I don't know if you can.
- 28:35Speaker 2: If you can bring everyone to Estate Restaurant, maybe take
- 28:39Speaker 2: one or two besties and bring them with you to
- 28:41Speaker 2: Hilton Singapore Orchard Estate Restaurant where they have a brand
- 28:45Speaker 2: new Sunday champagne social brunch.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Honestly, it sounds so delicious, so good. We really hope
- 28:50Speaker 1: you enjoy yourself over there. And like Joki mentioned throughout
- 28:53Speaker 1: the week as well, they launched their new Sunday social
- 28:55Speaker 1: champagne brunch.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Yeah, a very expensive taipo was made.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Shared by a TikToker I guess. What's the context in
- 29:04Speaker 2: the Singaporean space, you know, those old school bakeries, like
- 29:08Speaker 2: sometimes you need buy a hot dog bun or what
- 29:09Speaker 2: it costs you one-fifty. So and you know the pay
- 29:13Speaker 2: wave function where sometimes the price might be displayed on
- 29:17Speaker 2: the new machine, the newer machines. The older ones, they
- 29:19Speaker 2: don't have the screen there yet, so you must look
- 29:21Speaker 2: at the cacher numbers and all that to make sure
- 29:23Speaker 2: they key in the correct amount.
- 29:24Speaker 2: So this lady, I think she was in a bit
- 29:26Speaker 2: of a rush as with all Singaporeans. So the moment
- 29:30Speaker 2: the price amount was keyed in, by the way, the
- 29:32Speaker 2: hotdog bun was $1.50 OK.
- 29:37Speaker 2: It's like a split second happening. She waved. She pay waved,
- 29:40Speaker 2: but the moment she tapped her paywave device, the casher
- 29:44Speaker 2: auntie went, Hey, yeah, I key in wrong amount.
- 29:47Speaker 1: What did
- 29:48Speaker 2: she key
- 29:48Speaker 1: in?
- 29:49Speaker 2: $4,801.50.
- 29:55Speaker 1: How
- 29:55Speaker 2: did
- 29:55Speaker 2: 4000 come about? Exactly. So the comment section is going,
- 29:59Speaker 2: how did the numbers 48?
- 30:01Speaker 1: I thought it would be like 15 150 or 1500.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then, um, apparently the
- 30:08Speaker 2: story is the casha auntie scold the TikToker. Oh my
- 30:11Speaker 2: God you tap so
- 30:12Speaker 2: fast?
- 30:15Speaker 1: Bro, if there's anything that we learned when it comes
- 30:19Speaker 1: to our Singaporean aunties and uncles, it will always be
- 30:22Speaker 1: our fault somehow.
- 30:23Speaker 2: And
- 30:23Speaker 2: now this TikToker is saying, will they refund in cash
- 30:26Speaker 2: or will they refund me in store credit.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Well, how many hot dog
- 30:30Speaker 2: buns is
- 30:30Speaker 1: that?
- 30:30Speaker 2: No, this one,
- 30:33Speaker 1: refund. So, the bank can do a refund,
- 30:40Speaker 2: called the bank to the merchant,
- 30:42Speaker 1: the merchant refunds through the bank. Can they do that?
- 30:45Speaker 1: Because they can credit it back to your credit card.
- 30:49Speaker 2: So I don't renew the process, but I'm crossing my
- 30:53Speaker 2: fingers for this lady that she gets her
- 30:54Speaker 2: money back.
- 30:55Speaker 1: She will it becomes such public information anyway, so it's
- 30:58Speaker 1: a very expensive hot dog bun will be delicious, man. OK,
- 31:02Speaker 1: time for some food news. Here we go. How do
- 31:04Speaker 1: I sing it? I guess it's a good thing for
- 31:06Speaker 1: some people who
- 31:07Speaker 1: love this.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Some people only, 12.
- 31:09Speaker 2: 23 food news, food news. Sonia with the good food news.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Give it to us, Ms. Chu. So earlier
- 31:17Speaker 1: this year, I would say there was a bit of
- 31:20Speaker 1: back and forth when it came to this particular um store, OK.
- 31:24Speaker 1: You would have noticed that Lady M that was here
- 31:27Speaker 1: in Singapore for the longest time, remember they had that
- 31:28Speaker 1: big um
- 31:30Speaker 1: Flagship store over at, was it 313 Orchard Central? I
- 31:33Speaker 1: can't remember which side it was on, but I think
- 31:35Speaker 1: it was Orchard Central. Yeah. They had like a few floors,
- 31:39Speaker 1: if I'm not wrong, right, it was very big at
- 31:41Speaker 1: one point. We closing. Exactly. So they announced that they
- 31:44Speaker 1: were exiting Singapore, but there was a bit of an
- 31:47Speaker 1: indication that maybe this isn't goodbye forever. So don't worry,
- 31:51Speaker 1: we might make a comeback. Seems like that was pretty
- 31:53Speaker 1: fast because Lady M has reopened in Singapore. Yeah, they've reopened.
- 31:59Speaker 1: And um they've returned with new menu items, and two
- 32:02Speaker 1: more outlets will be opening by the end of June.
- 32:04Speaker 1: So I don't really know how come they, how they
- 32:08Speaker 1: sprung back up so fast. Maybe someone else, you know, um,
- 32:11Speaker 1: funding them. I'm not sure whether it's the same group
- 32:14Speaker 1: that's working with them here in Singapore, but
- 32:16Speaker 1: The good news is they're dropping their price a little bit. So, um,
- 32:21Speaker 1: I think the consensus was that certain things are getting
- 32:25Speaker 1: too expensive here in Singapore. I have to agree. Um,
- 32:27Speaker 1: I used to buy Lady M cakes as well, like,
- 32:29Speaker 1: let's say for my friend's birthday or what, you know,
- 32:31Speaker 1: sometimes we're assigned the task to go and get a
- 32:33Speaker 1: cake and we'll go get a slice or something because
- 32:36Speaker 1: we're like, guys, don't order the whole cake. I think
- 32:38Speaker 1: it's not feasible and like nobody wants to carry the
- 32:40Speaker 1: cake home, right? So we just get a few slices
- 32:43Speaker 1: and I noticed like, wah.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Some of these meal crepe cake slices can be like
- 32:48Speaker 1: $15 for one slice, really expensive, and it ranges, right?
- 32:53Speaker 1: So the basic 1 may be like $12 or $13
- 32:55Speaker 1: and then the fancier ones that have like champagne, jelly
- 32:58Speaker 1: or whatever it's like $15.16 dollars, even maybe even higher sometimes.
- 33:02Speaker 1: So what's going to happen is their prices will officially
- 33:05Speaker 1: start from $11.80 now compared to the previous price of
- 33:09Speaker 1: $12 or $13.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Lady at this point.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Sounds like that ex-boyfriend or girlfriend you had that said, OK,
- 33:15Speaker 2: you know what, I need some time
- 33:17Speaker 1: off for a while I'm gonna work on
- 33:18Speaker 1: myself.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Yes, I want to work on my issues, and they
- 33:21Speaker 2: actually did, and they came back and they're not your
- 33:24Speaker 2: wife or
- 33:24Speaker 2: husband.
- 33:24Speaker 1: I know, yeah, so new items on the menu include, um,
- 33:27Speaker 1: things like sponge cakes, tarts. They even have savory options
- 33:30Speaker 1: like soups and like small bites and stuff. So I
- 33:33Speaker 1: think they're hoping to expand their menu. New flavors include
- 33:36Speaker 1: a strawberry blossom meal crepe cake, um.
- 33:40Speaker 1: And I think there's a taro Mochi cream cake as well,
- 33:42Speaker 1: so a bit more Asian.
- 33:44Speaker 2: I might have missed this. Did you say where they reopen? Yeah, so,
- 33:47Speaker 1: um, they are opening over at the Jewel outlets and
- 33:50Speaker 1: they've got two more outlets they haven't announced just yet.
- 33:52Speaker 1: So I think it will open by June if I'm
- 33:55Speaker 1: not wrong. So
- 33:56Speaker 2: the first thing tourists or returning Singaporeans might see at
- 33:58Speaker 2: Terminal at Jewel.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Yes,
- 34:01Speaker 1: yeah. So, um, hey, all the best, and I'm sure
- 34:03Speaker 1: that you're gonna get some new fans very soon. Let's see.
- 34:06Speaker 2: They all be doing the same thing.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Booking tickets to fly to Jakarta, Indonesia.
- 34:12Speaker 1: When? Which part of the year?
- 34:14Speaker 2: Never said when yet, OK, but it's guaranteed it will happen.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Rap fans.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Is it like a new age artist? Not exactly or
- 34:23Speaker 1: like an OG type of artist? One veteran.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Find out who this person is who could potentially be
- 34:32Speaker 2: performing in Jakarta, Indonesia in just a bit here on
- 34:35Speaker 2: the show.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Not stopping by Singapore. No. Oh man, OK.
- 34:39Speaker 2: I'm gonna predict something here, right? I would not be
- 34:42Speaker 2: surprised if a lot of Singaporean rap fans, maybe Malaysian
- 34:46Speaker 2: as well, Thai rap fans, we could all be doing
- 34:50Speaker 2: the same thing, booking tickets to fly to Jakarta, Indonesia.
- 34:56Speaker 1: When? Which part of the year?
- 34:58Speaker 2: Never said when yet,
- 34:59Speaker 1: OK,
- 35:00Speaker 2: but it's guaranteed it will happen.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Rap fans.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Is it like a new age artist? Not exactly like
- 35:07Speaker 1: an OG type of artist?
- 35:09Speaker 2: One would call him an OG already.
- 35:11Speaker 1: OK, like a veteran in the business.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Find out who this person is who could potentially be
- 35:16Speaker 2: performing in Jakarta, Indonesia in just a bit here on
- 35:19Speaker 2: the show. Not stopping
- 35:20Speaker 1: by Singapore. No. Oh man, OK, I'm taking you to Jakarta.
- 35:24Speaker 2: As of two nights ago, I think hip hop fans
- 35:27Speaker 2: and R&B fans here in Singapore.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Maybe even Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, around the region. We could
- 35:35Speaker 2: all be marking a certain month or whatsoever down because
- 35:40Speaker 2: announced at his own concert or listening party a few
- 35:43Speaker 2: nights ago, Kanye West. Yay has teased a concert in Jakarta,
- 35:49Speaker 1: Indonesia. Yay has spoken. I mean, I'm not sure if
- 35:52Speaker 1: you still remember some of this. I'm sure you do.
- 35:55Speaker 1: But for our listeners, you know, like we haven't played
- 35:57Speaker 1: a song in a very long time.
- 36:00Speaker 2: I'm not loving,
- 36:01Speaker 1: not
- 36:01Speaker 2: bad. I mean, look, the whole 808 and Heartbreak was
- 36:07Speaker 2: auto-tune and all that. Yes,
- 36:08Speaker 1: but he trended it.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Yes, he did. So whatever you feel about Yay as
- 36:12Speaker 2: the person, as a musician, I love him. I know
- 36:15Speaker 2: I think he listens to music like no one else does,
- 36:17Speaker 2: but
- 36:18Speaker 1: yeah,
- 36:18Speaker 2: he's just controversial.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Controversial.
- 36:21Speaker 1: He, yeah, he's, he's been through an interesting time of
- 36:25Speaker 1: his life.
- 36:27Speaker 2: So no date, no month announced as of yet, but
- 36:31Speaker 2: he did promise, Jakarta
- 36:33Speaker 1: soon. I, um, I actually drove past, this was in
- 36:37Speaker 1: LA if I'm not wrong. He has that Sunday service thing, right,
- 36:41Speaker 1: or had that Sunday. What was it called? It was
- 36:44Speaker 1: like a church looking thing.
- 36:46Speaker 1: I don't know, was it a church service?
- 36:50Speaker 2: Jesus is Lord I'm not wrong.
- 36:51Speaker 1: OK. So was it really tied to religion or was
- 36:55Speaker 1: it just like a stylized
- 36:56Speaker 2: the
- 36:57Speaker 2: last I heard there was a bit of a controversy
- 36:59Speaker 2: there because apparently the choir that he hired, the choir,
- 37:03Speaker 2: he hasn't paid them yet. Yeah, so I'm wondering whether
- 37:07Speaker 2: after a few years, he finally paid them
- 37:09Speaker 1: or so. I mean, yeah, I'm sure they were a
- 37:12Speaker 1: big part of the show as well, right.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Well, we'll, we'll keep an eye on it and here's
- 37:17Speaker 1: hoping that um maybe there'll be some sort of way
- 37:20Speaker 1: to get you there.
- 37:21Speaker 2: So now here's
- 37:21Speaker 2: my question for you. Do we go for The Strokes
- 37:24Speaker 2: in Japan or do we go for West? But
- 37:26Speaker 1: you
- 37:26Speaker 1: don't know when Kanye West is playing. They haven't announced
- 37:28Speaker 1: the date, right, or the month. They haven't even announced
- 37:30Speaker 1: it for both.
- 37:32Speaker 1: In
- 37:32Speaker 2: this economy.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Music station. I really love her so much. Would love
- 37:36Speaker 1: to catch her live one day, to be honest. So
- 37:38Speaker 2: over the weekend, whether you're doing the music run or
- 37:41Speaker 2: the T100 meta sprint, all the best to you and
- 37:44Speaker 2: as always, listen to your body.
- 37:45Speaker 1: If you're
- 37:46Speaker 1: not doing either of those like me, also listen to
- 37:48Speaker 1: your body. Yes,
- 37:49Speaker 2: go and
- 37:50Speaker 2: enjoy it.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Yes, um, it will be a good one. On that note,
- 37:54Speaker 1: we're gonna hand you over to Nick and we'll catch
- 37:55Speaker 1: you tomorrow morning at 7 a.m.
