Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Good morning, It's Monday, It's June fifteenth, and this is
- 0:05Speaker 1: Fox and Friends. We start with a Fox News alert.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Right now, President Trump on his way to Europe for
- 0:10Speaker 1: the G seven summit, fresh off of agreeing to an
- 0:13Speaker 1: historic deal to end the war with Iran that he
- 0:16Speaker 1: says will bring peace to the region.
- 0:18Speaker 2: And the Commander in chief is telling chefs that have
- 0:21Speaker 2: been stuck in the Strait of Hermus to start their engines,
- 0:24Speaker 2: calling for oil to start flowing again, sending stock soaring.
- 0:27Speaker 3: So we have team covers for you this morning. Aisha
- 0:30Speaker 3: Hasni is live in Geneva with how this will impact
- 0:34Speaker 3: the G seven. The first we'll go to Trey Ying's
- 0:37Speaker 3: live in Tel Aviv with the latest on this historic
- 0:40Speaker 3: peace deal. Good morning, Trey, Yeah.
- 0:43Speaker 4: Hey guys, good morning.
- 0:44Speaker 5: After one hundred days in a state of war, the
- 0:46Speaker 5: region has now reached a deal. The United States and
- 0:50Speaker 5: Iran agreed to this larger deal that ultimately is going
- 0:54Speaker 5: to open the Strait of Hormuz and address Iran's nuclear ambitions.
- 0:57Speaker 5: The President posting on True Social overnight, saying quote, this
- 1:01Speaker 5: great deal will bring peace and security to the whole region.
- 1:05Speaker 5: Many presidents have tried to make peace with Iran, and
- 1:08Speaker 5: all have failed before me.
- 1:09Speaker 4: The leaders of the region have for.
- 1:10Speaker 5: The first time found a president who can help them
- 1:13Speaker 5: achieve real peace with the opening of the strait. Upon
- 1:15Speaker 5: the signing of the deal on Friday for purposes of removal,
- 1:19Speaker 5: oil will flow on both ends of the region and
- 1:22Speaker 5: the world. A signing ceremony is set to take place
- 1:24Speaker 5: on Friday in Geneva, Switzerland.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Before the deal was signed, it was nearly derailed.
- 1:28Speaker 5: The Israelis targeted Hesbala, which strikes in the Lebanese capital
- 1:32Speaker 5: of Beirut. Iranian officials immediately vowed to respond with missile
- 1:35Speaker 5: fire toward Israel. A diplomat with knowledge of the situation
- 1:38Speaker 5: told Fox News that Katari mediators stayed in Tehran conducting
- 1:42Speaker 5: intensive negotiations coordinated with the United States. Vice President Vance
- 1:47Speaker 5: described to Fox News what those final moments were like
- 1:50Speaker 5: before the agreement was reached. Could you take us behind
- 1:53Speaker 5: the scenes of what that moment was like leading up
- 1:56Speaker 5: to this deal actually being signed.
- 1:58Speaker 6: After the Israeli struck bea Route, we were very worried
- 2:02Speaker 6: and we saw a lot of evidence that the Iranians
- 2:04Speaker 6: were going to launch a large number of missiles at
- 2:06Speaker 6: the Israelis. With our communication with them over the course
- 2:09Speaker 6: of getting to this signed peace deal, they assured us
- 2:14Speaker 6: that they are not going to respond to the Israelis
- 2:17Speaker 6: and they were going to sign this agreement and get
- 2:20Speaker 6: to peace. Now, of course, you always have to verify
- 2:23Speaker 6: these things, Trey, and we know that there are a
- 2:25Speaker 6: lot of people in the Middle East who do not
- 2:28Speaker 6: want to make this deal happen.
- 2:31Speaker 5: I spoke with President Trump before the agreement was reached,
- 2:34Speaker 5: and he was optimistic about what this means for the region.
- 2:37Speaker 5: The President also told me he was going to get
- 2:39Speaker 5: on the phone and ensure that Iran didn't fire missiles
- 2:42Speaker 5: at Israel at the last minute.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Guys.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Yeah, So, Trey, if this does stick, this means it's huge.
- 2:48Speaker 1: It means that Israel and the United States and the
- 2:51Speaker 1: rest of the world will not have to worry about
- 2:53Speaker 1: Iran developing a nuclear weapon.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Yes, absolutely, signing a deal and implementing a dealer certainly
- 3:01Speaker 5: two different things.
- 3:02Speaker 4: This is just the beginning, but it certainly is.
- 3:04Speaker 5: A step in the right direction because it means not
- 3:06Speaker 5: only will the straight of Horn moves be opened, it
- 3:09Speaker 5: also means that Aron's nuclear ambitions will be curbed and
- 3:12Speaker 5: the details of that will take some time to work out.
- 3:14Speaker 4: There is going to be a sixty day window.
- 3:16Speaker 5: I spoke with a diplomat familiar with the situation who
- 3:19Speaker 5: indicated this week in Doha, Qatar, both sides are going
- 3:22Speaker 5: to have representatives and work out some of the technical
- 3:25Speaker 5: details towards the signing and that ultimately these other negotiations
- 3:29Speaker 5: to hammer out the final agreement on the nuclear issue.
- 3:33Speaker 5: When I spoke with the President yesterday, he talked about
- 3:35Speaker 5: the highly enriched geranium that was buried deep underground in
- 3:39Speaker 5: the aftermath of Operation Midnight Hammer last summer, and he said, look,
- 3:42Speaker 5: there's only two countries in the world, the United States
- 3:44Speaker 5: and China that even have the ability and the equipment
- 3:47Speaker 5: to get that nuclear dust, as the President refers to it,
- 3:50Speaker 5: out from underground, and so it's going to take some time.
- 3:52Speaker 4: There are a lot of technical details to be discussed.
- 3:54Speaker 5: But the Trump administration has indicated that the IAEA, the
- 3:58Speaker 5: International Atomic Energy Agency, is going to be involved as
- 4:01Speaker 5: an overwatch agency to ensure that the Iranians are actually.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Upholding their end of the bargain.
- 4:06Speaker 5: And remember, they are not going to receive any sort
- 4:08Speaker 5: of sanctions relief until they do.
- 4:10Speaker 3: So, so Trey. Since this is just MoU and there
- 4:14Speaker 3: are different metrics that the Iranians have to hit. Does
- 4:19Speaker 3: that mean that the military is going to stay in
- 4:20Speaker 3: place until all of those points and objectives have been honored.
- 4:28Speaker 4: We're likely looking at a tiered system.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Initially, the US naval blockade of Iranian ports will be lifted,
- 4:35Speaker 5: and that is expected to take place on Friday after
- 4:38Speaker 5: the signing ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland. There are still US
- 4:41Speaker 5: forces that will remain in the region. There could be
- 4:43Speaker 5: somewhat of a draw down, but you still have two
- 4:46Speaker 5: US aircraft carriers, destroyers, and a variety of assets across
- 4:49Speaker 5: the Middle East in case things were to collapse in
- 4:51Speaker 5: the future. A really important note that we talked about
- 4:54Speaker 5: last night on Fox News. The Iranians didn't get what
- 4:57Speaker 5: they wanted at the negotiating table, and this speaks to
- 4:59Speaker 5: this successful negotiations on behalf of the United States, because
- 5:04Speaker 5: ultimately they entered into these negotiations demanding the US forces
- 5:08Speaker 5: leave the region, that they leave all bases and go home,
- 5:11Speaker 5: and that's not happening. You will still have thousands of
- 5:14Speaker 5: US forces in places like Bahrain, where the US Navy's
- 5:17Speaker 5: fifth Fleet is located also in Katar, just outside of
- 5:20Speaker 5: Doha at the Al old Eyedes base that normally houses
- 5:23Speaker 5: around ten thousand US soldiers.
- 5:25Speaker 4: And so there will still.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Be a US military posture across the region, but the
- 5:28Speaker 5: question will be ultimately what does it look like in
- 5:31Speaker 5: terms of drawing down the additional forces that were sent
- 5:34Speaker 5: here during Operation Epic Feure.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it's all performance based, so they have to produce something.
- 5:38Speaker 2: If they start acting unsaved in an unsavy way, it's
- 5:41Speaker 2: they're not going to get where they want. The whole
- 5:42Speaker 2: thing gets too railed. They trace something into your intimately
- 5:45Speaker 2: involved with And that's everyone's talking about Israel. Why are
- 5:48Speaker 2: they bombing Hesbla The bombing hesblow because six hours before
- 5:53Speaker 2: Hesbolo was rocketing them, so they've responded again.
- 5:57Speaker 4: So for Israel, for Hesbola to do that.
- 6:00Speaker 2: They'd have to get a green light from Iran. So
- 6:02Speaker 2: it's not that hesbel is acting independently. In Israel's acting independently.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Israel's responding to the attacks that Iran is sponsoring. So
- 6:10Speaker 2: if Hesbela decides to attack Israel, that's because Iran's telling
- 6:14Speaker 2: him to.
- 6:17Speaker 5: Yes, it's a major problem, and the Iranians have tried
- 6:20Speaker 5: to connect the situation in Lebanon to the broader agreement
- 6:22Speaker 5: with the United States, and this may come back to
- 6:25Speaker 5: haunt them if Hesbela is acting up and firing into Israel,
- 6:28Speaker 5: because ultimately, if they are violating the agreement in Lebanon,
- 6:31Speaker 5: they are violating the agreement with the United States because
- 6:34Speaker 5: this includes a clause about Lebanon. Now, today Israel's Defense Minister,
- 6:38Speaker 5: Israel Katz came out and said the Israelis will maintain
- 6:40Speaker 5: their security zones and posture in places like Gaza, Syria
- 6:44Speaker 5: and Lebanon, and Israeli forces say they will maintain their
- 6:47Speaker 5: ability to respond if they are threatened by Iranian proxies,
- 6:51Speaker 5: whether it be in Lebanon or in other places for
- 6:53Speaker 5: example like Yemen. And we talked about this before, but
- 6:56Speaker 5: it's also very important. There was actually an incident reported
- 6:59Speaker 5: off the coast of Yemen today. We're still looking into it.
- 7:01Speaker 4: But the Jutis in.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Yemen are also directly funded and supported by the Iranian regime.
- 7:06Speaker 5: And this agreement focuses on the strait of hormones, and
- 7:09Speaker 5: it focuses on this broader posture across the region. As
- 7:12Speaker 5: it relates to Iran's military activities and their nuclear program.
- 7:16Speaker 5: But there are levers the Iranians can try to pull
- 7:18Speaker 5: if they want to disrupt things in the future, and
- 7:20Speaker 5: one of those levers could be the Kutis in Yemen
- 7:23Speaker 5: trying to close the bubble man dub entrance to the
- 7:26Speaker 5: Red Sea. This translates to the Gateway of Tears for
- 7:28Speaker 5: a reason, and if that happens, they could disrupt international
- 7:31Speaker 5: shipping into the Red Sea. And so there are a
- 7:34Speaker 5: lot of X factors here. Again, this ceasfire is not
- 7:36Speaker 5: certainly going to be pretty. There will be violations. We
- 7:40Speaker 5: should make no mistake. These things are very challenging, but
- 7:43Speaker 5: again this is a good first step in the right
- 7:45Speaker 5: direction for the Middle East and the entire region.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Gotcha, Yeah, it's obviously a fluid situation. Well, checking with
- 7:51Speaker 2: you again, Tree, and why is it fluid? Everybody's meeting
- 7:53Speaker 2: over at the G seven. Be sure to like and
