- 0:00If we don't believe in magic, if we don't believe and make believe, we're easier to control.
- 0:06Because where they create doors, where systems create doors, they want us to see a door.
- 0:11But if we believe in magic, we'll see a portal.
- 0:14So people who don't believe in magic are easier to control because they have separated themselves from the mystical within them.
- 0:23They've separated themselves from the inexplainable aspect of reality and therefore they've become more like a machine.
- 0:30Because a machine cannot have faith.
- 0:32A machine cannot believe in what it isn't told to believe.
- 0:35You input something into the system and that's exactly what the system takes as real.
- 0:39So...
- 0:40The more that we are removed from this mystical, magical understanding, the more we are more like machines and the more we are easier to control and to control ourselves.
- 0:49The less we listen to intuition, because we don't view that as a legitimate form of knowledge.
- 0:54The less we listen to our cyclicality, the less we listen to signs, signals, conversation with the divine, the less we believe our lives get to feel magical.
- 1:05because to believe in magic is to believe life gets to be magical.
- 1:08But how can they oppress you if you think life could be magical?
- 1:11Because then you're going to be like, but then why am I being oppressed?
- 1:14And you're going to rebel.
- 1:15So they need us not to believe in magic by they, because I don't want to be like a conspiracy theorist.
- 1:19I literally mean the systems of power, dominance and control, such as white supremacy, colonialism, capitalism, and so on and such forth.
- 1:27Patriarchy, cisheteropatriarchy, and so on and so forth.
- 1:31So there is a beautiful rebellion, I feel, that I observe in the collective spirit where we are reaching for a return to spirituality.
- 1:43Where we are reaching for something beyond logic, rationality, something beyond right and wrong, something beyond reality.
- 1:57something that feels soulless and towards something that feels soulful.
- 2:01And even on TikTok or on social media or in conversations with people, I feel like a lot of the conversations that I observe or that I'm having is people seeing themselves become, have these spiritual awakenings.
- 2:14We also have these tools to share information.
- 2:17So there was a time when a lot of the spiritual wisdom was gatekept
- 2:24And now there's a little bit more sharing of breakthroughs.
- 2:28People are sharing near-death experiences and what they've seen.
- 2:31People are sharing firsthand experiences of, you know, experiencing past lives.
- 2:37People are sharing experiences.
- 2:39the wisdom that they're receiving from different practices.
- 2:42And these shares, and these stories have always existed.
- 2:45It's just that now we have some tools that do help us democratize the information.
- 2:50And so while information used to be passed, you know, mouth to mouth, information used to be passed through oral tradition, we're sort of forming a sort of digital oral tradition, which I think is really sacred and beautiful.
- 3:04So something that I think is very important is to...
- 3:11Ask yourself in this collective rising, we feel like there's the rising of the feminine.
- 3:17There's the rising of queerness and people rejecting that.
- 3:22forms of heteronormativity okay there's the rising of there's a rising of a desire to be in touch with topics like purpose topics like meaning and i know that of course in the global context this is a huge privilege to even be thinking about this and i'm so i'm not supposing i'm not pretending like this is just everyone's reality as they're shifting to purpose absolutely not
- 3:46But we do feel you can feel like when you go on social media, when I mean, we can feel that something is shifting in the consciousness.
- 3:54It's not only now it's been happening, but I feel like we can see it in what people are reaching for.
- 3:59We see this rise of tarot readings on social media and channeling and this beautiful reclamation of our spiritual roots.
- 4:10But I know that in that process, there can be a lot of fear.
- 4:12A lot of the people that I work with will have the fear of being seen as spiritual, the fear of being seen in their spirituality, the fear of speaking just how, quote unquote, spiritual they are.
- 4:25And when we feel that, can we ask ourselves if the collective really is rising towards reality?
- 4:33more love, towards more healing, towards more mysticism, more magic.
- 4:40What role do I want to play in that rising?
- 4:44something that colonialism aims to do is remove your capacity to see certain groups of people as sacred.
- 4:53This is also what patriarchy does.
- 4:55This is what all these systems do.
- 4:56So what colonialism does is say, okay, these colonizers, first of all, colonialism is a spiritual and economic and political and all these things, but it is also a spiritual.
- 5:09Hmm.
- 5:16My brain said disorder.
- 5:17Because isn't it funny?
- 5:19They call like a lot of different forms of mental health disorders, but they never call wanting to dominate, oppress, pillage, destroy people a disorder.
- 5:28Imagine that.
- 5:29So there was a spiritual dis-ease in the colonizer before they even got to the continent of Africa, what we call it now.
- 5:39before they even got to those places.
- 5:42I used to believe colonialism started, for example, in South Africa, they always teach you in 1652.
- 5:50That's when Jan van Riebeek, quote unquote, discovered.
- 5:52But like a colonized South Africa, the Dutch colonialism.
- 5:58Okay.
- 5:59But really there was something in that man before he even got here that was not okay.
- 6:04Okay.
- 6:06Because when they got to these lands, they didn't see sacredness.
- 6:10They didn't see something worth protecting.
- 6:13They didn't see beings worth revering and learning from and understanding.
- 6:18They saw an opportunity.
- 6:20That opportunity that they saw was in their spirit to see before they even got here.
- 6:25So colonialism didn't start, for example, in South Africa in 1652.
- 6:28It started in the spirit of the colonizer before they even came.
- 6:34Something was wrong in them.
- 6:36Something was not right.
- 6:38And we are all now living the after effects of that.
- 6:41Oh my word, I'm so afraid I'm not recording.
- 6:43The after effects of that not rightness.
- 6:46So I think it's important to ask what was in the spirit of these people, such that they were able to inflict such catastrophe and continue to do so on human beings.
- 7:00Because it's the same thing that was in their spirit that was also in their spirit to oppress their own women, to oppress people who looked like them as well.
- 7:07Because that's also a part of the story.
- 7:09The witchcraft, the witch trials, the witch hunts.
- 7:13It's not as though the women in that society were revered and protected either.
- 7:19So the way that they treated black people, brown people, indigenous people, Asian people, that was in them.
- 7:29And I think we need to understand that at a spiritual level.
- 7:31They were in spiritual crisis because why would you do that to another being?
- 7:35Why would you do that to a human being?
