- 0:08Speaker 1: It's fry yay, fry fry yay, which is a clever
- 0:13Speaker 1: play on words. Obviously, because it's Friday, Sunday, I have
- 0:18Speaker 1: Friday on my mind. Welcome to No Dribbles Friday episode.
- 0:23Speaker 1: We've got a cracking chat. Ahad's trapping. Hello, my name's
- 0:38Speaker 1: Carolyn Swindell. Welcome to No Dribble, the podcast where we
- 0:41Speaker 1: talk about nitball, but we talk about so much more.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Oh was that it.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Sound a lot?
- 0:48Speaker 2: That was a full stop, I'm cut cox, I'm zealous,
- 0:52Speaker 2: happy Friday Happy. There you go. There's another piece of
- 0:57Speaker 2: punctuation stops colin because it's faintally sort of bum joke
- 1:03Speaker 2: I had.
- 1:03Speaker 4: That was it?
- 1:06Speaker 1: I got a full colon or just a semio.
- 1:09Speaker 3: I just had the.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Half of the birthday cards I got though for my
- 1:14Speaker 4: fiftieth Oh god, I put a couple online, but one
- 1:18Speaker 4: of them was something along the lines of congratulations, you're
- 1:21Speaker 4: old enough now to have a colonoscopy or something other.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Have you had your k derived from the government? What
- 1:28Speaker 1: can I This is the most exciting thing. Mine arrived
- 1:33Speaker 1: on my fiftieth birthday, which I thought was an act
- 1:35Speaker 1: of pure aggression. So maybe they've changed that but in
- 1:39Speaker 1: this country, we are so fortunate to have a wonderful
- 1:43Speaker 1: public health system, and so from the age of fifty
- 1:46Speaker 1: you are eligible for free bowel scanning because obviously if
- 1:49Speaker 1: they catch this stuff early, there's a very high survivability.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:54Speaker 1: So on my fiftieth birthday, the Government of Australia sent
- 1:58Speaker 1: me a gift which was a mail in Pooh test
- 2:01Speaker 1: and delight car and you haven't got yours yet?
- 2:05Speaker 3: No, Well, I had a colonoskudy recently, so maybe that's
- 2:08Speaker 3: on their records and they know they don't know if
- 2:09Speaker 3: to doing on me. I did get a breast screen reminder,
- 2:11Speaker 3: which I'm booked in to do.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Good girl.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, no, it's God, it's like fifties all downhill,
- 2:17Speaker 3: isn't it.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I know, it's.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Not all downhill. There's a whole lot of stuff you
- 2:22Speaker 1: need to well.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Yeah, so I read.
- 2:25Speaker 1: The apparently the hair on our legs grows more slowly
- 2:29Speaker 1: after a certain age, but that just well, it just
- 2:32Speaker 1: gives us more time to deal with our beards, doesn't it.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Do you know? I've actually contemplated putting a pair of
- 2:39Speaker 3: tweezers in the car, Yeah, because seems to be when
- 2:41Speaker 3: I'm sitting at the lights off our chin hair.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Well, the life's so good.
- 2:45Speaker 1: The light's so good in the car coming through the window.
- 2:48Speaker 4: It is the joy.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah, what's podcast about again? Well, facial hair. So I've
- 2:53Speaker 2: got a couple of little moles that have little hairs
- 2:55Speaker 2: grow out of them, and they're the same as in
- 2:57Speaker 2: the same place as my grandmother Brady had her miles.
- 3:01Speaker 2: And so when I like, I'm playing with one now,
- 3:04Speaker 2: and I used to play with her just when I
- 3:06Speaker 2: was I remember playing with her face with this little kid,
- 3:09Speaker 2: and now I'll play with mine, and I'm like, oh god,
- 3:11Speaker 2: she was old then, but she was probably the same
- 3:12Speaker 2: age as I am now. She just behaved in a
- 3:14Speaker 2: more mature fashion.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Isn't genetics crazy? Though?
- 3:18Speaker 2: Like your mom's mom, this is my mum's mum. And
- 3:20Speaker 2: then like Austin's got a funny birthmark on his arm
- 3:23Speaker 2: in the same place that my dad had one. And yeah,
- 3:26Speaker 2: and we often remark on it when we go around
- 3:28Speaker 2: the cows and you see the genetics at playing, You're like, yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 2: genetics are a crazy thing, but it is funny when
- 3:33Speaker 2: you're the stuff that you thought you associated with your grandparents.
- 3:36Speaker 2: It was really old. It pumps up on your face
- 3:38Speaker 2: and you're like, hmm, this is no good.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Oh yeah, why don't we get the good stuff?
- 3:41Speaker 4: Though?
- 3:42Speaker 3: My mum always had this really hollow neck, like a
- 3:45Speaker 3: hole in her neck, and she used to wear this
- 3:48Speaker 3: necklace that had a like a pearl pennant. I used
- 3:50Speaker 3: to always put the pearl in the hole constantly.
- 3:55Speaker 2: That sounds fairy rude.
- 3:56Speaker 3: I don't know why.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I don't know put the pearl in the hole.
- 3:59Speaker 1: It's just stop pressing, stop being bong ball ah, dear,
- 4:07Speaker 1: I have a buy and to pick with you, Catherine.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Oh god, thank you for this lovely gift. My credit
- 4:14Speaker 1: card has now been scammed.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Can you describe the gift?
- 4:17Speaker 4: We are?
- 4:18Speaker 2: We are a podcast?
- 4:19Speaker 1: We are a podcast? Yes, thank you. That's someone who's
- 4:23Speaker 1: been working in radio for more than twenty five thirty years,
- 4:26Speaker 1: isn't it. You gave us a couple of weeks ago.
- 4:28Speaker 1: You gave Liz and I a magic wand and you
- 4:31Speaker 1: it's it's pink, and it's plastic, and it's been three
- 4:34Speaker 1: D printed, I think, and you slip your credit card
- 4:36Speaker 1: in it and you can pay with your magic wand
- 4:39Speaker 1: and it's whimsical and lovely. But and coincidentally, my credit
- 4:44Speaker 1: card has been scammed and shut down now by the bank,
- 4:46Speaker 1: so I've now got all of that. Pilava Bank were amazing,
- 4:50Speaker 1: you know. CommBank contacted me and said, are these your transactions?
- 4:54Speaker 1: And it's like, no, I have not just spent sixteen
- 4:57Speaker 1: hundred dollars on tattoos.
- 4:59Speaker 2: But and so I think Catherine scammed your credit card.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Well I think she's in North Carolina, so she wishes
- 5:08Speaker 1: I think you should take this into the bank.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Go guys, there's something.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Wrong with my wine is broken.
- 5:14Speaker 3: And see what they say. I remember Liz, didn't Matthew
- 5:18Speaker 3: find a scam on your card because there was a
- 5:21Speaker 3: transaction on their statement. And Matthew went to Lisa and
- 5:24Speaker 3: said the meatre went to Lise and said, did you
- 5:26Speaker 3: just spend four dollars fifty on shoes? She's like, have
- 5:29Speaker 3: we met before? Of course I didn't spend four dollars
- 5:32Speaker 3: on shoes.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I would spend four hundred dollars on shoes.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Where is this mythical shoe store where I can spend
- 5:38Speaker 1: four dollars fifty?
- 5:40Speaker 3: Well, I'm sorry, I don't actually think that's got anything
- 5:43Speaker 3: to do. I don't think it has had it makes
- 5:46Speaker 3: you feel better. But now I've got all that pilava.
- 5:48Speaker 3: You know, You've got all these payments set up for
- 5:50Speaker 3: this account and that account, and now I keep getting
- 5:52Speaker 3: people saying you haven't paid this bill.
- 5:54Speaker 1: It's like I'm trying really hard. I'm just waiting for
- 5:57Speaker 1: the new credit card to come in.
- 5:59Speaker 3: So can I ask a question about your appearance?
- 6:02Speaker 4: Sure?
- 6:02Speaker 3: Whilst it is always fabulous, see what's going on on
- 6:05Speaker 3: this hand here?
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yes?
- 6:07Speaker 3: So look at that.
- 6:07Speaker 1: That's this. I went to a fundraiser on Saturday night
- 6:11Speaker 1: and it's hennah, which I've never had done before. But
- 6:14Speaker 1: this lovely young woman.
- 6:18Speaker 2: She did this really quickly.
- 6:20Speaker 1: But it was a fundraiser. I might have talked to
- 6:22Speaker 1: you about this before. A charity that are made of
- 6:24Speaker 1: mine has set up this school in India in Bangalore
- 6:27Speaker 1: that was set up basically to try to get education
- 6:31Speaker 1: for kids from the slums and the poorer areas around.
- 6:35Speaker 1: The girls don't go to school when they have their
- 6:37Speaker 1: periods because they can't afford sanitary products. So God, my
- 6:41Speaker 1: mate Jill has set up We had went to this
- 6:42Speaker 1: fundraiser on Saturday night which happened at our gym Pete's
- 6:47Speaker 1: gym and to raise money for period pants. And it's like,
- 6:51Speaker 1: it's such a genius solution, isn't it take the tampons
- 6:54Speaker 1: and the pads out of the equation entirely. Here's a
- 6:57Speaker 1: couple of pairs of these, and suddenly you don't have
- 6:59Speaker 1: your education in disrupted sort of one week out of four.
- 7:04Speaker 1: But yes, I had this Hannah done, which I've never
- 7:06Speaker 1: had done before. She's very very clever, this young woman.
- 7:09Speaker 1: But then it goes on as a liquid and then
- 7:11Speaker 1: you have to it dries, and about sort of half
- 7:14Speaker 1: an hour, lady, you have to flick it off, and
- 7:15Speaker 1: then it's really high. Let's get stuck about a month now,
- 7:19Speaker 1: So I am I'm going to I am regretting it
- 7:21Speaker 1: already because I'd like it to be gone.
- 7:24Speaker 3: So it stays for a month.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Lize Ellis is putting up her non hendan finger, no
- 7:29Speaker 1: non headen finger.
- 7:30Speaker 2: So because we I am remote to you too, I
- 7:33Speaker 2: thought you had the Donald Trump Bruce hand going on,
- 7:36Speaker 2: though I didn't realize it's.
- 7:39Speaker 3: What she's talking about.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Okay, so Donald Trump has got some strange discoloration on
- 7:44Speaker 1: his hands, and it appears that he's seeking to cover
- 7:46Speaker 1: it with makeup and the internet, because the Internet is
- 7:50Speaker 1: what the Internet is. There are lots of people who
- 7:52Speaker 1: are using this, photos of this as evidence of something
- 7:59Speaker 1: to support whatever position that they want to take.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Oh, of course I can't.
- 8:03Speaker 1: So Liza has been looking at my hand now because
- 8:05Speaker 1: obviously we record both Wednesday and Friday on a Monday,
- 8:08Speaker 1: and she's been thinking the whole time that I have
- 8:11Speaker 1: got some type of circulation issue and I might be
- 8:14Speaker 1: about to keel over in the studio. Yes, but okay, sister.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Great, Yeah, well the credit card that's in that one
- 8:23Speaker 2: doesn't work anymore, so I don't know that it's that magic.
- 8:25Speaker 2: You know. I gave my after Saturday soccer last weekend.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I gave the wand to my son and said, gone
- 8:33Speaker 2: by yourself a milkshake, and he was like, what I said, mate,
- 8:37Speaker 2: it works anyway, It did his head in and when
- 8:41Speaker 2: he tapped the wand and it worked, he was like
- 8:45Speaker 2: just amazed. But then he snuck around the back, like
- 8:48Speaker 2: around the back of the shop, and I was looking
- 8:50Speaker 2: at something and I could hear him, you know, doing something,
- 8:53Speaker 2: and then he worked out pretty quickly, you just twisted
- 8:55Speaker 2: the top off so the magic didn't last, but it
- 8:57Speaker 2: was beautiful while when it happened.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Yeah, so he's given you the wand back and slipped
- 9:01Speaker 3: credit card into his pocket.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, Oh wow, I never thought about that. Maybe
- 9:07Speaker 2: he has. I never check. Oh god, what sort of
- 9:15Speaker 2: damage can you do? Well?
- 9:17Speaker 1: Is it Pokemon cards?
- 9:18Speaker 2: What's what? What is what? Revel sport? He just goes
- 9:20Speaker 2: straight to rebel or into sport or someone like that.
- 9:22Speaker 2: And I would just have fifteen thousand cricket balls.
- 9:26Speaker 1: So my daughter would get hair products off the internet,
- 9:29Speaker 1: and you know, all sorts of hair straightening products and
- 9:34Speaker 1: hair curling products and and any type of solder. Gennaro,
- 9:38Speaker 1: are you in the.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Soldier I would have in Mecca before I knew.
- 9:43Speaker 1: And my son would I don't know. It would be
- 9:46Speaker 1: straight up to the bottle shop. Now my fridge, now
- 9:48Speaker 1: that my son is eighteen, my fridge is now full
- 9:50Speaker 1: of beers and hard rated solo that clearly you run out.
- 9:55Speaker 2: It is good.
- 9:56Speaker 1: We did actually send him up to the bottle shop
- 9:57Speaker 1: on the weekend. It's like and it was, yeah, he
- 10:00Speaker 1: was busy, and Pete and I weren't busy. But it's like, well,
- 10:03Speaker 1: this is exciting for us as parents to be able
- 10:06Speaker 1: to send.
- 10:07Speaker 2: You to the bottle shop.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I've long wanted to be able to send the kids
- 10:09Speaker 1: to the bottle shop with a note.
- 10:12Speaker 3: You used to be able to do that back in
- 10:14Speaker 3: the day.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Didn't you buy cigarettes for my mum? She'd park out
- 10:17Speaker 1: the front and I'd run in.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Oh my goodness.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Yeah. So when our kids were little, we were a
- 10:22Speaker 2: bit holier than them. We're like, we are never going
- 10:24Speaker 2: to get our children to fetch just alcohol and that.
- 10:28Speaker 2: We did some gardening after on Sunday, after the netball
- 10:31Speaker 2: on Saturday, and I just said to my daughter, go
- 10:33Speaker 2: and get mummy and beer. She knew it wasn't what
- 10:38Speaker 2: to do or what class I liked. And I'm like, yeah,
- 10:40Speaker 2: that died a long time ago, didn't it. You have
- 10:42Speaker 2: so many ideas when you have your kids. We would
- 10:45Speaker 2: never do this, we will never do that. And then
- 10:47Speaker 2: reality steps in and you're like, just, well.
- 10:49Speaker 3: You stuck to your guns for a minute.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Though, oh no, it wasn't the first time I'd asked her.
- 10:53Speaker 2: We stuck to our guns for a little bit. But
- 10:55Speaker 2: then you go, you know what, just get the beer
- 10:58Speaker 2: or get mummy on wine.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Is I mean, it's life.
- 11:01Speaker 1: It's responsible drinking did you do what rus did you
- 11:05Speaker 1: have that you broke.
- 11:07Speaker 3: When I was a kid? No, as I'm still trying
- 11:11Speaker 3: to break them.
- 11:12Speaker 2: God, I'll give you another one. We're always like before
- 11:15Speaker 2: we had kids, like we will have a date night
- 11:17Speaker 2: like once a month, and our kids will have to
- 11:19Speaker 2: understand that. You know, our relationship is first. I think
- 11:21Speaker 2: our last date night was fifteen years ago. We just
- 11:25Speaker 2: don't do very mammy or our wedding anniversary. Like you
- 11:27Speaker 2: just have all these rules. You think, oh, you know,
- 11:29Speaker 2: my children will fit in with my life. Next minute
- 11:32Speaker 2: from os around your kids.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Yeah, well they trick you a bit when they're babies,
- 11:37Speaker 1: when they're still in that the baby capsule. Nice before
- 11:40Speaker 1: they still that size, you think, look at this, we're
- 11:43Speaker 1: out at a restaurant with the baby. We're so amazing,
- 11:47Speaker 1: and then as soon as they can move, all hell
- 11:51Speaker 1: breaks loose and it's like we're not going out for
- 11:52Speaker 1: two years.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Like that's it tears, No, But do you know that
- 11:56Speaker 2: the one thing that we was a rule that we
- 11:58Speaker 2: have stuck and was so hard when they were like
- 12:01Speaker 2: two and three. We've always been no screens at the
- 12:04Speaker 2: dinner table, so you know when you go to the
- 12:06Speaker 2: restaurant all I want to do. Sometimes, like I look
- 12:09Speaker 2: around and see other families having such beautiful piece and
- 12:11Speaker 2: quiet with their kids having screens at the dinner table,
- 12:14Speaker 2: and we're like, no, I sit down using the ope
- 12:16Speaker 2: and for blah blah blah. But now that they're older,
- 12:18Speaker 2: I'm really pleased that we didn't do that. But it's
- 12:20Speaker 2: so hard, and if you have to do that to
- 12:22Speaker 2: get to some peace and quiet, I say, good on you.
- 12:25Speaker 3: I do not allow a screen at all. The only
- 12:28Speaker 3: time Harper gets an iPad is when I have to
- 12:30Speaker 3: work and she's got to come to netble and then
- 12:32Speaker 3: she's glued to it. But otherwise because she loves it
- 12:35Speaker 3: because all the time, yeah, absolutely.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I remember going out to dinner once and Dottie was
- 12:41Speaker 1: with the Slews. Wasn't there, but she must have been
- 12:43Speaker 1: about nine or ten at this stage, and it was
- 12:46Speaker 1: just her and a group of adults and we were
- 12:49Speaker 1: sitting at the table and she said, can I have
- 12:51Speaker 1: your phone? And it's like, you know what, No, you
- 12:53Speaker 1: can be bored, because being bored, I think is the
- 12:56Speaker 1: source of creativity. And the plates were still on the table,
- 13:00Speaker 1: had these black plates, and kids will find a way
- 13:04Speaker 1: to entertain themselves if you force them to. She got
- 13:06Speaker 1: a little tub of mayonnaise and a toothpick and wrote
- 13:10Speaker 1: on the plate help me, and gave you the way.
- 13:20Speaker 1: It's a beautiful moment.
- 13:22Speaker 2: And then when the.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Police got, the police got, the police did not come.
- 13:27Speaker 1: So I think that this guy realized that no, no,
- 13:29Speaker 1: this child is actually with her parents. She's just being
- 13:31Speaker 1: deprived of the screen. But yep, so she's got a
- 13:34Speaker 1: bit of funky. All right, we should take a little
- 13:39Speaker 1: break and then come back and talk about some netball.
- 13:54Speaker 1: So we had Round twelve on the weekend, and still
- 13:58Speaker 1: there are still two teams, the Lightning and the Swiss,
- 14:02Speaker 1: on life support but hanging on by an absolute thread,
- 14:06Speaker 1: which is really exciting. So there were four games. That's
- 14:11Speaker 1: fairly standard. We always have four games, caroly and so
- 14:14Speaker 1: it's probably unnecessary to tell us that. But one of
- 14:18Speaker 1: the biggest margins of the weekend was quite a shock
- 14:24Speaker 1: to me x and Thunderbirds six and Thunderbirds last game
- 14:27Speaker 1: of the round. Yeah, see the Vixens go down by nineteen.
- 14:30Speaker 1: So the biggest margin of the round was the Lightning
- 14:33Speaker 1: beat Giants by twenty goals.
- 14:35Speaker 3: But yeah, that game I had flashbacks to the was
- 14:40Speaker 3: I think it might have been the prelim final last
- 14:44Speaker 3: year they lost by twenty five or was it the
- 14:48Speaker 3: year before? Must have been the year before. I think
- 14:50Speaker 3: it was when Thunderbirds went on to win.
- 14:52Speaker 2: That's right. They got pumped in the semi.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Dixons didn't lose the final.
- 14:57Speaker 3: It did not, that's right. It must have been the
- 14:59Speaker 3: year before. It was in Adelaide, and it was a
- 15:00Speaker 3: twenty five goal blowout and no matter what they did,
- 15:04Speaker 3: they could not get the ball down the court. Thunderbirds
- 15:08Speaker 3: didn't score big, big totals in every quarter. They just
- 15:12Speaker 3: stopped Vixen scoring. That's how they got that winner.
- 15:15Speaker 1: But and Thunderbirds are not the highest scoring team. They're
- 15:18Speaker 1: the biggest winning team. But you know they're not the
- 15:20Speaker 1: highest scoring team. They are so strong defensively. So they
- 15:23Speaker 1: got sixty one, Vixen's got forty two. Thunderbirds won three
- 15:27Speaker 1: out of four quarters, Vixen won one and it was
- 15:29Speaker 1: only by one goal.
- 15:30Speaker 3: They just strangle the life out of opponents.
- 15:33Speaker 2: In the super shod Era. Forty two is a really
- 15:35Speaker 2: low score. You very rarely see that.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Yeah, and Kira Austin was their best. She was I
- 15:41Speaker 3: think fifth for net points. The top four were all
- 15:44Speaker 3: Adelaide Thunderbirds. But even watching her, she was, I mean,
- 15:47Speaker 3: by her standards, not a good day at the office.
- 15:50Speaker 3: It was it was so hard for them to get
- 15:52Speaker 3: the ball down the court and I thought, far out
- 15:54Speaker 3: those games we've all been a part of, you just
- 15:57Speaker 3: want the clock to count down twice as fast.
- 16:00Speaker 1: It was tough. Like I'm thinking that the finals are
- 16:04Speaker 1: going to look like that. The Vixens will lose to
- 16:08Speaker 1: the Thunderbirds and then they will play the MAVs in
- 16:12Speaker 1: Melbourne and they will lose to the MAVs and the
- 16:14Speaker 1: grand Final will be the Thunderbirds. Maths, that's what it's
- 16:17Speaker 1: looking like.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Well, very good indication will be this weekend because it
- 16:21Speaker 3: is the Melbourne Derby this weekend, the MAVs and the Vixens,
- 16:25Speaker 3: and I reckon for the first time, the MAVs will
- 16:28Speaker 3: get up this weekend too or do they want to
- 16:31Speaker 3: save it for that final.
- 16:32Speaker 1: I don't think they want to save anything. I think
- 16:34Speaker 1: they're feeling pretty bloody good. I reckon Ami Parmenter's first
- 16:38Speaker 1: win in the West on the weekend.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it is, isn't it.
- 16:45Speaker 1: But your fever so Fever have won two out of
- 16:49Speaker 1: the last six. They have not managed to put string
- 16:51Speaker 1: together two consecutive wins since round six. That's not looking.
- 16:55Speaker 1: And you know, I'm not hearing people talking about this
- 16:58Speaker 1: the way they were talking about the Swifts having done
- 17:00Speaker 1: exactly that same thing last year, which was come in
- 17:03Speaker 1: strong at the beginning and then fall away.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Momentum is everything, though, isn't it at this time of year.
- 17:08Speaker 3: So I reckon the MAVs will continue to get better
- 17:10Speaker 3: because they are full of confidence, they feeling it. They've
- 17:15Speaker 3: got four Aussie diamonds now that have just been announced
- 17:17Speaker 3: within that group, including in bytes. I reckon they'll get
- 17:21Speaker 3: the job done this weekend on the Vixens. Therefore, the
- 17:24Speaker 3: Lightning and the Swift sagonski a finals contention and then
- 17:30Speaker 3: you're right, it's going to be very interesting what happens
- 17:33Speaker 3: in that final.
- 17:34Speaker 2: And can we talk a little bit about MAVs their
- 17:35Speaker 2: defensive line. When Tara Hinchliff went down earlier this year,
- 17:39Speaker 2: like so devastating for her, but I thought, oh man,
- 17:42Speaker 2: they've put together a great defensive unit and now that
- 17:46Speaker 2: that might be the end of the court. That lets
- 17:48Speaker 2: him down. Hang on a second, we'll just put the
- 17:51Speaker 2: next level of talent in and she's going to go
- 17:53Speaker 2: to make this Traine Squad story. Jesse's got her opportunity
- 17:58Speaker 2: through injury, and you would never say to her that's luck,
- 18:01Speaker 2: because she's done all the week to get there and
- 18:03Speaker 2: sometimes you just need the opportunity, like the door to open,
- 18:06Speaker 2: and she's just she hasn't just walked on the thrill,
- 18:08Speaker 2: she's just run through it. And that's what good young
- 18:11Speaker 2: players do. You do all the hard work so that
- 18:13Speaker 2: when that door opens, you can get through. But that's
- 18:15Speaker 2: quite a story, you know for MAVs. When Tara Hinchley
- 18:18Speaker 2: went down, I was like, oh, that's a shame.
- 18:21Speaker 4: You know.
- 18:21Speaker 2: I thought they might make finals, but they might not
- 18:24Speaker 2: now with her gone.
- 18:24Speaker 3: But aside from that, I always thought they were too
- 18:28Speaker 3: short defensively. They were never going to match it with
- 18:31Speaker 3: all of the teams that had a giant shooter that
- 18:33Speaker 3: they have, haven't they because you know, Jesse's not huge,
- 18:37Speaker 3: but her elevation is incredible. And they work the ground
- 18:40Speaker 3: and they work around that, they work their strengths.
- 18:43Speaker 1: And Charlotte Sexton also, she's another one who went, you'll
- 18:46Speaker 1: take my opportunities here yeah, fantastic.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:49Speaker 1: To me, the MAVs look like the only team that
- 18:51Speaker 1: can challenge the Thunderbirds in a final here. I'm just
- 18:54Speaker 1: I mean, the Vixen's have looked unconvincing for a couple
- 18:58Speaker 1: of weeks now now they are so good at coming
- 19:01Speaker 1: back when their backs are against the wall that I
- 19:03Speaker 1: would never say count them out. But it's looking, Yeah,
- 19:08Speaker 1: they look to be falling off at a time when
- 19:10Speaker 1: they should be building up. I would have thought so.
- 19:13Speaker 1: You know, last year they came through that final series,
- 19:16Speaker 1: but they were building from that time. So they were
- 19:19Speaker 1: down and out in about round six and then they
- 19:21Speaker 1: were building. And that's what the MAVs have done. They
- 19:23Speaker 1: were quite down and they were building. Fever is the
- 19:26Speaker 1: same as Vixen's. They are on their way down. Thunderbirds
- 19:30Speaker 1: are just you know, they're clearly not unstoppable. They can
- 19:35Speaker 1: be beaten, but they are you know, they've started the
- 19:37Speaker 1: season very well and have continued to be outstanding. If
- 19:41Speaker 1: the swifts Aw Lightning make it through, they're not going
- 19:43Speaker 1: to challenge the Thunderbirds. I wouldn't have thought.
- 19:45Speaker 3: No. The issue for the Swifts and the Lightning is
- 19:47Speaker 3: they've got the same run home. They have both got
- 19:50Speaker 3: the Giants, the Firebirds and the Tea Birds. Yeah, that's
- 19:54Speaker 3: going to be the issue for them. Both have got
- 19:56Speaker 3: to play the tea Birds at one point in there.
- 19:58Speaker 3: So Swifts have got Tea Birds this weekend on Saturday.
- 20:02Speaker 3: And it's the first game too, so we'll know pretty
- 20:04Speaker 3: quickly if the Swift's chances of kicking on are still
- 20:07Speaker 3: there or not.
- 20:09Speaker 1: And I think I'm right that the Lightning have only
- 20:13Speaker 1: beaten teams sitting below them on the ladder. No, I
- 20:17Speaker 1: think I'm wrong about that actually, because they beat Fever,
- 20:20Speaker 1: didn't they? Did Lightning beat Beaver?
- 20:23Speaker 3: I think they did in the West, didn't they?
- 20:24Speaker 1: Yeah? Maybe, My gosh, you're testing the memories. Yeah, so
- 20:28Speaker 1: Fever lost this week against the MAVs. They had to win.
- 20:31Speaker 1: The previous week away against the Firebirds. They lost at
- 20:34Speaker 1: home against the Swifts. They've lost a few at home.
- 20:37Speaker 1: They lost against the Thunderbirds at home and they.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Lost Lightning had a big win by ten over the
- 20:43Speaker 3: Vixen's right as well.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Okay, that was completely incorrect. I'll just leave this to
- 20:49Speaker 1: Darryl Lymel. We're just playing in a space that I
- 20:53Speaker 1: shouldn't be. It's like I've wandered into the goal circle.
- 20:56Speaker 1: So we have got a big challenge. Interesting to see
- 21:00Speaker 1: form changing in the Valor Dribblers Tiping Comp two. There
- 21:04Speaker 1: are tippers starting to surge at the right time. We
- 21:09Speaker 1: now have some one person in outright first position that
- 21:14Speaker 1: is off to the pub sitting on fifty one. In
- 21:17Speaker 1: second position, we have someone who has come in we've
- 21:22Speaker 1: not spoken about at all this whole season. Well, Vala
- 21:25Speaker 1: Dribblers Tipping Comp season, we've not spoken Jack VD got
- 21:28Speaker 1: a five on the weekend and is sitting at fifty
- 21:32Speaker 1: points with firstborns on fifty and then on forty nine.
- 21:36Speaker 1: There's also Joanne OSGK also got a five and now
- 21:40Speaker 1: is sitting in third place there. So we could see
- 21:42Speaker 1: that and remember this is what the Bascinators did last year.
- 21:45Speaker 1: They came home strongly.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Would you like to talk.
- 21:49Speaker 1: About the hosts and heroes ladder and where you're at, Well,
- 21:52Speaker 1: nothing bad happened to you. Darryl Milton is sitting he's
- 21:56Speaker 1: two points ahead of you on the ladder though, on
- 21:58Speaker 1: forty six, and you're sitting second on forty four, Fascinators
- 22:02Speaker 1: on forty three and Gordy on forty two. All three
- 22:06Speaker 1: of you got three points this week. Alexa, your Netbull
- 22:10Speaker 1: bestie got five points this week, but it's sitting only
- 22:15Speaker 1: on forty.
- 22:15Speaker 3: One, so wow, okay, and.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Then there's Daylight Daylight forty two, then Keiley Devriy on
- 22:23Speaker 1: thirty two, forty one and to thirty two, and then
- 22:26Speaker 1: I'm on thirty one having managed to get a score
- 22:30Speaker 1: of two last week. Liz Ellis, who does not tip
- 22:34Speaker 1: and only has the home games scored one only on
- 22:37Speaker 1: the weekend and is sitting on twenty two. I think
- 22:40Speaker 1: that's really interesting. How nothing, absolutely nothing, not.
- 22:46Speaker 3: Anymore West Coast Fever sell out crowd, yes thirteen can't
- 22:52Speaker 3: get their side across the line.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Amazing. I've had what if they had? Their last one, two,
- 22:58Speaker 1: three four home games have been have been losses. So
- 23:03Speaker 1: they started a home game in round one and then
- 23:07Speaker 1: in rounds three, five and six they had wins at home,
- 23:10Speaker 1: but they have not had a win at home since
- 23:13Speaker 1: round six, so that's interesting.
- 23:14Speaker 2: But still what are they?
- 23:17Speaker 1: The Fever Army. The Green Army turnout in strength Adelaide
- 23:20Speaker 1: Entertainment Center on the weekend huge, absolutely massive, good to
- 23:25Speaker 1: see these big crafts. There was a really great atmosphere
- 23:27Speaker 1: out of the Swift's game yesterday to First Nations round
- 23:30Speaker 1: those beautiful dresses and it was really nice to see
- 23:34Speaker 1: that being celebrated around the country. Our tipper of the
- 23:39Speaker 1: week is a Giants fan, so be six points lots
- 23:43Speaker 1: of yeap did very well manage to pick the margin
- 23:46Speaker 1: only sitting on thirty nine, and so now gets the
- 23:48Speaker 1: fifty dollars Alavaancher for being so. So don't forget to
- 23:51Speaker 1: keep putting your tips in for Valor Dribbler's tipping comp
- 23:53Speaker 1: because you don't have to be winning the comp in
- 23:55Speaker 1: order to be winning prizes. So this week Swiss Thunderbirds.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Yep, well you are Thunderbirds.
- 24:05Speaker 1: You're thinking Thunderbirds.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Yeah, here's my tip. I'm going to be there.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Oh that's a hot tip, isn't it?
- 24:12Speaker 3: Get a shot of Lizzies in the world. The chair
- 24:15Speaker 3: is in the house being cheeky. Are you an official
- 24:19Speaker 3: capacity or are you enjoying netball.
- 24:22Speaker 2: A little bit? Well, I'll be enjoying netball all weekend
- 24:25Speaker 2: this weekend because I will be at state Senior State titles,
- 24:29Speaker 2: watching watching my daughter.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Play Friday night no dribble events sen State Titles, A
- 24:35Speaker 3: bit of ssn. Holy moly, Bi weekend like.
- 24:39Speaker 1: She likes netball or something, isn't it? So that's your
- 24:43Speaker 1: hot tip? Is a glass of rose? That that sounds
- 24:46Speaker 1: like your hot tip?
- 24:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very right.
- 24:50Speaker 1: We don't ask you for a tip. Will you tip
- 24:51Speaker 1: the home team? Okay? Firebirds Lightning?
- 24:57Speaker 2: Who's the home team? Fivebirds high Birds.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm thinking that Lightning will be because they're still
- 25:04Speaker 1: in it technically at that stage, aren't they. They're still
- 25:07Speaker 1: technically the Battle of the Bruce. You're going Firebirds?
- 25:10Speaker 2: Yep, it's what did you just say, Liz? It's the
- 25:14Speaker 2: Battle of the Bruce.
- 25:15Speaker 1: The Battle of the Bruce, and not the Courtney Bruce,
- 25:17Speaker 1: the Bruce Highway, which obviously connects Brisbane and the Sunshine case.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Catherine has to go and do a wee. We must
- 25:22Speaker 1: be running over Vixen's MAVs. Catherine, I'm going to go
- 25:26Speaker 1: to the MAVs. Guys, She's going the MAVs. I think
- 25:30Speaker 1: that's probably a smart tip. And Giants Fever giants at home.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I don't know. It's hard to tip against the Fever
- 25:37Speaker 1: for that one, but I think the giants are you
- 25:39Speaker 1: and having seen what happened with Saint George Laura on
- 25:42Speaker 1: the weekend, winning their first game in two hundred and
- 25:46Speaker 1: ninety five days. I'm going to say, giants faithful, keep
- 25:50Speaker 1: the faith. And I'll tell you what, I am so
- 25:53Speaker 1: much more appreciating a Swift's home win now than I
- 25:57Speaker 1: did at the beginning of last year, when I just
- 25:59Speaker 1: went all the time and they won and then they
- 26:02Speaker 1: stopped winning for a while. But now that we've had
- 26:05Speaker 1: it was a tough start to the season, it's really
- 26:09Speaker 1: genuinely enjoying the wins more. And imagine those Giants fans
- 26:13Speaker 1: when the Giants do it, which they will.
- 26:15Speaker 2: They would go off, you would think, do.
- 26:17Speaker 1: You know, Liz, This was a question that came up
- 26:20Speaker 1: in a Facebook group on the weekend. What would happen
- 26:23Speaker 1: if there were two teams with exactly the same points
- 26:26Speaker 1: and exactly the same four and against on the ladder
- 26:31Speaker 1: in terms of in terms of papers scissor rock.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Well, yeah, oh, I don't know. I'm just trying to
- 26:37Speaker 2: think of all the fun stuff you could do. You
- 26:39Speaker 2: could like do it like a soccer penalty shootout where
- 26:42Speaker 2: you just all have to shoot and it starts with
- 26:43Speaker 2: the goal shoot and it ends up going down until
- 26:45Speaker 2: you get to the goalkeepers. That'd be fun.
- 26:48Speaker 3: That'd be fun. I think it goes you look at
- 26:50Speaker 3: the results that they've had against each other throughout the season. Okay,
- 26:54Speaker 3: so one and margins.
- 26:55Speaker 1: It would come down to that kind of head to head.
- 26:58Speaker 1: So I believe, let's say, hypothetically, which I don't think
- 27:01Speaker 1: is going to happen, if the Lightning get in at
- 27:04Speaker 1: the same as the MAVs and then they were to
- 27:06Speaker 1: have exactly the same four and against. What would happen
- 27:09Speaker 1: is they would look at the games, those two round
- 27:12Speaker 1: games between those two teams and say who won and
- 27:16Speaker 1: what was the marchin?
- 27:17Speaker 2: I believe so wow, well that could actually happen for
- 27:19Speaker 2: third and fourth, right, because if you look at the ladder, yeah,
- 27:22Speaker 2: I think right. I was looking at times this morning,
- 27:25Speaker 2: Fever and MAVs are on twenty eight points apiece. Fever
- 27:29Speaker 2: on and the Fevers percentage is one oh four point
- 27:32Speaker 2: six y nine and MAVs is one oh four point
- 27:34Speaker 2: zero nine. So it is conceivable that they could both
- 27:36Speaker 2: end up with the same fore and against. I'd like
- 27:39Speaker 2: to think that their mascots should have a race. That
- 27:42Speaker 2: would be good.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Oh, that's a enormous amount of pressure on the masculine.
- 27:46Speaker 2: It's about time the mascots, you know, had a bit
- 27:47Speaker 2: of pressure put on them, just to see who stands
- 27:49Speaker 2: up in the moment.
- 27:51Speaker 3: I think it should be the floor mopper, best dance routine, best.
- 27:55Speaker 2: No, there's a bit of subjects album.
- 27:57Speaker 3: We think that Patrick can Yeah, yeah.
- 27:59Speaker 2: That's it's sort of subjective. I like things that have
- 28:01Speaker 2: an outright winner and a loser.
- 28:04Speaker 1: What about these things where you get babies on court
- 28:06Speaker 1: and get them to crawl the fastest. I would like
- 28:09Speaker 1: to see some super Nepal babies competing for their mothers teams.
- 28:14Speaker 3: I thought the coaches should have a shootout.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Oh that'd be good. That would be good. Yeah, So
- 28:20Speaker 1: we don't know is the answer, but it should come
- 28:24Speaker 1: It would come down to that in the unlikely event
- 28:26Speaker 1: that all else was equal.
- 28:27Speaker 3: I believe. So it's never happened before.
- 28:32Speaker 1: So I just assumed that you would tip fever over giants.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Giants are at home this week? Would that be cool out?
- 28:37Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 28:37Speaker 3: And I've got both the Sydney games this week?
- 28:39Speaker 1: Oh have you? That's exciting. You've got a busy weekend,
- 28:41Speaker 1: haven't you. Everyone? Don't forget that you if you are
- 28:45Speaker 1: a Thunderbirds fan or a Swift's fan or a Giants fan.
- 28:48Speaker 1: If you spend thirty bucks on merch with Valor and
- 28:51Speaker 1: then you put which fan you are in the box
- 28:55Speaker 1: at the check out there, you could win for yourself
- 28:58Speaker 1: or the Thunderbird's, Giants or Swift's fan in your life.
- 29:02Speaker 1: You could win that signed dress plus a couple of
- 29:04Speaker 1: pieces of merch from that team's range if you wanted to,
- 29:08Speaker 1: and you know your team doesn't have to be winning
- 29:11Speaker 1: for you to love them, or particularly if you have
- 29:14Speaker 1: a loved one who is following a team who is
- 29:16Speaker 1: not perhaps going to win the Grand Final this year,
- 29:19Speaker 1: imagine how much they would love getting something.
- 29:22Speaker 2: A little gift like that.
- 29:23Speaker 1: So jump on there and get you thirty bucks worth
- 29:25Speaker 1: of val merch. Doesn't have to be Team merch, could
- 29:28Speaker 1: be any team merch and then you put that in
- 29:30Speaker 1: or some of the other apparel stuff. But I think
- 29:33Speaker 1: that's that's a good little prize. Only goes up until
- 29:35Speaker 1: the end of the season though, end of round fourteen,
- 29:38Speaker 1: with an element to my guess, Yes, that is exciting.
- 29:43Speaker 3: See, everybody, we're going.
- 29:45Speaker 2: To talk about team like doing it.
- 29:47Speaker 3: No, we might need to, we should ask the crowd again.
- 29:50Speaker 3: That was fun when we did that at our first
- 29:52Speaker 3: ever event. We will questions at.
- 29:54Speaker 1: The crowd what they want to know of you guys.
- 29:57Speaker 1: And remember the beauty of coming to the No Dribble
- 29:59Speaker 1: Live events is that particularly Liz says things that we
- 30:03Speaker 1: can't put on air. But she works a bit loose
- 30:06Speaker 1: in a bar environment with a microphone in her hand,
- 30:09Speaker 1: and so it's and we don't put it on social
- 30:11Speaker 1: media because it's like, you got to be it's Hamilton,
- 30:14Speaker 1: You've got to be in the room where it happened.
- 30:16Speaker 1: And yeah, so we're very much looking forward to.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Her from time.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Tonight.
- 30:20Speaker 2: I will tell you.
- 30:22Speaker 1: We're going to take a quick break and then we're
- 30:24Speaker 1: coming back. And I've got a real twist on the
- 30:27Speaker 1: ask the goat. Okay, our goat. You can actually have
- 30:43Speaker 1: a little bit of a rest again this week, but
- 30:46Speaker 1: I have a question for the goala. Now, this question, Catherine,
- 30:51Speaker 1: has come from the one and only Darryl Milton, and
- 30:55Speaker 1: this is off the back of last week and shout
- 30:58Speaker 1: out to Gordie. She took the challenge. She nailed the challenge.
- 31:02Speaker 1: She mentioned the Dribblers when she was undertaking the commentary challenge.
- 31:06Speaker 1: So if you haven't listened to last week's Catherine said,
- 31:09Speaker 1: Gordy a challenge, a commentary based challenge, and it was
- 31:14Speaker 1: about the baseline throwing from the goalkeeper and which is
- 31:20Speaker 1: a nothing sort of status.
- 31:21Speaker 3: It's a start that we have and it's stupid and
- 31:24Speaker 3: why would you care how many throwings have been taken?
- 31:26Speaker 3: But I said to Gordy, you need to put it
- 31:27Speaker 3: in commentary somehow.
- 31:29Speaker 1: And then you refuse to accept a challenge in return.
- 31:32Speaker 1: But anyway, Darryl Milton has sent a question in not
- 31:35Speaker 1: really for the goala for the commentator, I guess, but
- 31:38Speaker 1: you know, here we go. Kath mentioned last week just
- 31:40Speaker 1: given a portfolio of statistics, including throw ins, that she
- 31:43Speaker 1: does not care about. Dagger to my heart. Dagger to
- 31:47Speaker 1: my heart, he has written, because obviously he values every statistic,
- 31:51Speaker 1: if not every comma. But what are the other pointless
- 31:54Speaker 1: stats that you get given Kath that aren't broadcast worthy
- 31:58Speaker 1: in your mind or pet and most commentator's minds. Are
- 32:01Speaker 1: there others that you go thank you for that piece
- 32:04Speaker 1: of information. But I don't believe that that is something
- 32:08Speaker 1: that I need to chat about.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Firstly, Darryl, I love the use of the word portfolio,
- 32:13Speaker 3: portfolio it makes me sound very, very professional. So the
- 32:19Speaker 3: amount of stats we get is next level. It covers
- 32:22Speaker 3: absolutely everything. Clearly, you can't use all those because who
- 32:25Speaker 3: wants to listen to that commentary? It would be every
- 32:28Speaker 3: single moment of the game you'd be throwing a number at.
- 32:30Speaker 3: So I there's one particular page that I will always
- 32:33Speaker 3: go to that kind of summarizes most of the key
- 32:36Speaker 3: ones and on that it's got so all the players,
- 32:40Speaker 3: it's got top for net points, minutes played. These ones
- 32:44Speaker 3: are the ones I would use. Goal scored, one point scored,
- 32:48Speaker 3: two points scored.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Assists, feeds.
- 32:52Speaker 3: So basically all of these I would use is one
- 32:55Speaker 3: that's feed with an attempt, one that's feed without an attempt,
- 32:58Speaker 3: wouldn't bother. That's the whole of trying to explain things
- 33:01Speaker 3: in the moment the game is too quick, center pass, receives,
- 33:05Speaker 3: their great second phase receives good. Would use those every
- 33:08Speaker 3: now and then intercepts, gains, blah blah blah. But then
- 33:11Speaker 3: down the bottom it has got the throw ins. It
- 33:15Speaker 3: has also got which I don't think I've ever done,
- 33:17Speaker 3: and I don't think I ever would. But whilst I've
- 33:20Speaker 3: got it in front of me. Katie and Dehani the
- 33:22Speaker 3: most throwings at fifty one, everybody, closely followed by Shamira
- 33:25Speaker 3: Stirling Humphrey at forty seven. Nobody surprised by the fact
- 33:28Speaker 3: that these are all goalkeepers, Okay, underneath that, yep, yep.
- 33:34Speaker 3: And then there's it gets to things like bad passes.
- 33:38Speaker 3: I mean, I think you'd probably say more of a
- 33:41Speaker 3: turnover is a too bad pass, bad hands, off sides.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Bad hands what Liz thought I had with the Hannah.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Yet in nightclubs at different times, but.
- 33:58Speaker 3: Some of them were good.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Bad hands is covered.
- 34:03Speaker 3: I'll tell you what we find. The gutter doesn't have
- 34:05Speaker 3: to be far away if we find it. But so
- 34:08Speaker 3: some of the other ones. Darryl that I would not
- 34:10Speaker 3: use center pass break who's winning that just out of curiosity.
- 34:14Speaker 3: Kim Brown has got nine of them right, and then
- 34:18Speaker 3: offside and stuff like that, and the most offside is
- 34:21Speaker 3: Shany lambdon there you go with that.
- 34:23Speaker 1: That's because you're throwing yourself around, right, So it's sort.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Of I think the point is this, I mean, there's
- 34:29Speaker 3: a stat for everything, but who's interested in those? And
- 34:32Speaker 3: when do you find the time to pop them in?
- 34:34Speaker 3: So Darryl, I don't not like the stats.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Things like ide become interesting. If someone gets pinned for
- 34:40Speaker 2: being continued to offside, you can go to the stats
- 34:42Speaker 2: and say, well, that's the fifteenth off side call.
- 34:45Speaker 1: So who was with Ruth Arying was offside by going
- 34:49Speaker 1: into the gold circle round and Fever had three players
- 34:53Speaker 1: in the golf circle for a bit.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Yeah, that's just funny. I love that. I think that.
- 34:57Speaker 2: That's so it's like the other didn't pick it up.
- 35:01Speaker 1: She picked it up and rectified it quickly. It had
- 35:03Speaker 1: no bearing on the game whatsoever. But it's like, you know,
- 35:05Speaker 1: what's still human beings.
- 35:06Speaker 2: I love it.
- 35:07Speaker 3: Fans and s Gordyon and I are both in commentary
- 35:09Speaker 3: on the same game and we didn't see It's.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Funny, isn't it. I remember seeing Well being a commentating
- 35:15Speaker 2: game and Maddie Turner did that and like you just
- 35:18Speaker 2: you look at the refin how did I miss it?
- 35:20Speaker 2: But because you're so focused on other stuff or looking
- 35:23Speaker 2: at the stats and you and we always used to
- 35:25Speaker 2: get told I'm sure you still do, Catherine, You've got
- 35:28Speaker 2: to commentate what's on screen, not what's in front of
- 35:30Speaker 2: you in the game, because people at home. Aren't seeing
- 35:33Speaker 2: the whole game. They're seeing what's on your screen. Right,
- 35:35Speaker 2: So if you're looking at your screen and then there's
- 35:37Speaker 2: a funny off side and you don't see it, but
- 35:40Speaker 2: then sometimes you go, actually it was on my screen
- 35:42Speaker 2: and I should have seen it, but I was just
- 35:44Speaker 2: you didn't expect it.
- 35:46Speaker 1: But also, like the player, in that moment, it's not
- 35:50Speaker 1: something that your brain goes, I shouldn't be seeing that. Like,
- 35:52Speaker 1: I think you'd be more likely to notice that if
- 35:54Speaker 1: it was a center who went in there, because it's like,
- 35:57Speaker 1: but where you've got someone who plays gold offence as
- 35:59Speaker 1: well as winged fence, it's like, well, you know, in
- 36:02Speaker 1: that moment, you don't immediately see it. Yeah, I love
- 36:06Speaker 1: that all right, Before we go quick, Notarable recommends I
- 36:10Speaker 1: went to a live show last week called Come Alive.
- 36:14Speaker 1: But it was my audition there and it's the music
- 36:17Speaker 1: from the Greatest Showman and but they couldn't get the stories,
- 36:22Speaker 1: so they've just made up this other story to go
- 36:23Speaker 1: with it. But it doesn't matter because you've got the
- 36:25Speaker 1: music and it's under the big top and then there's
- 36:27Speaker 1: all these incredible acrobats and people flinging themselves around in
- 36:32Speaker 1: an incredibly skillful fashion.
- 36:34Speaker 2: It was just it was great.
- 36:35Speaker 1: It's Insydney at the moment, but then it's going to
- 36:37Speaker 1: Melbourne's going all around the country and it's one of
- 36:39Speaker 1: these fabulous, big top things. Patrick Brammel obviously name check
- 36:45Speaker 1: from Colin from accounts, was there the night that I
- 36:47Speaker 1: was there.
- 36:52Speaker 2: All past. But I think I've told you stories. I'm
- 36:55Speaker 2: too old for that ship.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I said, you said that like you've got one
- 37:00Speaker 3: the top front of mine.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Come on my whole past. I think my whole pass
- 37:06Speaker 2: is I'm going to bed by myself. Don't anyone snall a.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Hotel room where no one speaks to me for twenty four.
- 37:15Speaker 2: What's dinner?
- 37:15Speaker 3: Dunton ranch in a cup of tea.
- 37:17Speaker 1: But they did have something there that worried me the
- 37:19Speaker 1: other night. So you know, they've got these acrobats who
- 37:21Speaker 1: do amazing things on rings and trapezes and whatever. There
- 37:25Speaker 1: was a young woman who came out and her hair
- 37:27Speaker 1: was in a really high bun.
- 37:29Speaker 3: It's horrendous.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Yeah, and then she she's attached by her head and
- 37:34Speaker 1: is taken way up in the air and it's only
- 37:37Speaker 1: attached to her hair, and then she's spinning around like
- 37:41Speaker 1: looking like a like a ballerina on a jewelry box,
- 37:46Speaker 1: but also not vomiting, which I'd worry about. But you'll remember,
- 37:50Speaker 1: in one of the very first episodes of No Dribble,
- 37:53Speaker 1: I raised the issue of traction al When your ponytail
- 37:58Speaker 1: is too tight, you can get alopecia, which is where
- 38:01Speaker 1: your hair falls out and never grows back. So I've
- 38:05Speaker 1: been worried about a number of netball players who are
- 38:07Speaker 1: going too tight on the pony tar because, let me
- 38:10Speaker 1: tell your, middle age catches up with you. You never
- 38:12Speaker 1: think it's going to and then you go wish I
- 38:14Speaker 1: hadn't done that, And I think traction alopecia. But for
- 38:17Speaker 1: this young woman who's up there, suspended only by her hair, girl.
- 38:23Speaker 3: Has got some strong follicles. Yep, absolutely How young would
- 38:28Speaker 3: she look in the midst of that though? That is
- 38:30Speaker 3: quite the face lift, Yes, ten years older.
- 38:33Speaker 1: As soon as you stop, I highly recommend going to
- 38:36Speaker 1: see Come Alive. I've never even seen The Greatest Showman,
- 38:39Speaker 1: so I have no idea what that story is. But
- 38:41Speaker 1: obviously because I have a child the age of mine,
- 38:44Speaker 1: I know all the music and whatever. But it's just
- 38:46Speaker 1: it was just joyful. It was just it was such
- 38:49Speaker 1: a It'd be a great thing to go to with
- 38:52Speaker 1: the whole family. Everyone would enjoy it, even cynics like
- 38:56Speaker 1: my husband and I and we're up there dancing at
- 38:58Speaker 1: the end, and like these these performers are so physical. Anyway,
- 39:02Speaker 1: highly recommend it come Alive and it's going around to
- 39:05Speaker 1: five capital cities in Australia on board that it's very cool.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Can I ask it like I've got to This is
- 39:11Speaker 2: not a recommends. I feel like this is where I
- 39:13Speaker 2: come to just say that films I don't love.
- 39:16Speaker 3: What is the end of the show when you're like,
- 39:17Speaker 3: I got to say something.
- 39:21Speaker 2: We might try we might choose to cut this out.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Last week on a plane I watched If I had legs,
- 39:25Speaker 2: I'd kick you. And I love Rose burn right. I
- 39:29Speaker 2: think she's amazing. I wanted to get traction alopecia in
- 39:33Speaker 2: my hair. By the end of it, I tore my
- 39:34Speaker 2: hair out going Why did I just put myself through
- 39:36Speaker 2: two hours of that? Have you guys seen it?
- 39:38Speaker 1: No?
- 39:38Speaker 3: But I really want to watch it.
- 39:40Speaker 2: No, I don't. I'd love to see it. I'd love
- 39:42Speaker 2: for the no dribblers. Anyone who's watched it like it's
- 39:44Speaker 2: so depressing. It's so depressing.
- 39:47Speaker 3: I know, you know sometimes you watch it.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Like have you red, Liz? I know you won't have
- 39:51Speaker 1: caf a little life.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Oh yes, I bored my eyes out of the end
- 39:55Speaker 2: of it. I've hit repeated.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Trauma and I great reading it. Even though it's a
- 40:01Speaker 1: really good, well written book. It was the saddest, most depressing,
- 40:07Speaker 1: miserable experience of my life reading this.
- 40:10Speaker 3: Crying go while you're reading a book the pages.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I cried about I didn't so if I
- 40:17Speaker 2: had legs, I kick you, like you know. So the
- 40:19Speaker 2: Meat Tray is wrong strictly wrong Com. It was not
- 40:22Speaker 2: wrong Com. He will not watch it, but I often
- 40:25Speaker 2: I'm like why. It's like, because there's enough rubbish in
- 40:27Speaker 2: the world. I just want to laugh and have a
- 40:29Speaker 2: bit of watching a movie. Right, So when I'm by myself,
- 40:32Speaker 2: I choose things. I would never watch horror, but I'll
- 40:35Speaker 2: choose drama anyway. About to that, and I'm like, do
- 40:37Speaker 2: you know what I think I've learned my lesson back
- 40:39Speaker 2: to rom Com strictly rom Com now FYI.
- 40:43Speaker 3: The Meat Tray will watch Miss Universe.
- 40:46Speaker 2: The Meat Train watched a lot of things with you, Catherine.
- 40:49Speaker 2: That surprised me. So there you go.
- 40:50Speaker 1: We judged everybody many years when I was younger, just
- 40:55Speaker 1: watching like art house movies and things, and then I
- 40:58Speaker 1: just realized, I'm not I'm not having fun here.
- 41:00Speaker 2: I like feeding.
- 41:02Speaker 1: My pretentious personal brand that I want to be, but
- 41:06Speaker 1: I wasn't enjoying it. And now it's like, you know,
- 41:09Speaker 1: I love it. I will watch thrillers and things, but
- 41:11Speaker 1: I'm just I don't want I'm not going to seek
- 41:14Speaker 1: things that are worthy anymore. I read quite widely, but
- 41:19Speaker 1: that A Little Life was the most miserable I've ever been.
- 41:24Speaker 3: Just put bride'smaids on and be done with them.
- 41:27Speaker 2: That's true, cause I've finished with a good one. If
- 41:29Speaker 2: talking about books, the Children I think has just come out,
- 41:33Speaker 2: and you're gonna ask me, hang on, hang on, hang on,
- 41:35Speaker 2: Alex back in a second.
- 41:40Speaker 3: Keep that of Alex.
- 41:42Speaker 1: There is a novel called The Children written by Strata
- 41:45Speaker 1: author Charlotte Wood, who was shortlisted for the Book a Prize.
- 41:48Speaker 1: That's really good. But I don't know whether that's the
- 41:50Speaker 1: Children that Liz is talking about.
- 41:53Speaker 2: So now I talked about what I don't recommend. I'm
- 41:55Speaker 2: going to talk about. But I do recommend. I got
- 41:57Speaker 2: given this book, The Children by Melissa Albert, fantastic, like,
- 42:03Speaker 2: and I didn't, I said to everyone. At one point,
- 42:05Speaker 2: I was like, I'm reading this book and I'm halfway through,
- 42:07Speaker 2: but I don't quite know what it's about. So that's great.
- 42:09Speaker 2: There's a there's a.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Recommend children Children by Melissa Albert. Haven't heard about it?
- 42:14Speaker 2: Can you give us a.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Genre anything, any little clue?
- 42:17Speaker 2: Oh? Look, it's about two kids whose mother writes children
- 42:23Speaker 2: a series of children's books, and they are the characters
- 42:27Speaker 2: in the children's books. And then there's a bit of
- 42:29Speaker 2: sort of supernaturally mystical stuff going on. But it's really cool.
- 42:34Speaker 1: All right, So I highly recommend Melissa Albert The Children.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Two notable recommends, a show to go and see and
- 42:40Speaker 1: a book to read. And Catherine A Miss Universe is
- 42:45Speaker 1: the is what you would know.
- 42:47Speaker 3: I'm going to give you a song that somebody told
- 42:49Speaker 3: me the other day. It's so stupid, but it's so catchy,
- 42:52Speaker 3: The Puerto Rico song.
- 42:53Speaker 2: The Puerto Rico song.
- 42:55Speaker 3: Yeah, the Puerto Rico song. And it's educational. Get on board, everybody.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Does it get better? Yeah, it's just fine.
- 43:18Speaker 3: I feel like, yeah right, I feel like bye sucks
- 43:25Speaker 3: boy Billy. Okay, you listen to that one time and
- 43:30Speaker 3: tell me that you don't have that stuck in your head.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I reckon, I'd love Puerto Rico like that bad Bunny
- 43:36Speaker 1: that his whole performance in the halftime show at the
- 43:39Speaker 1: Super bowlts.
- 43:41Speaker 2: This is so joyful.
- 43:42Speaker 1: This is everyone's just looking like they're having a wonderful
- 43:45Speaker 1: time and the music's so catchy. So you know, maybe
- 43:47Speaker 1: maybe No Dribble can go to Puerto Rico. At the moment,
- 43:50Speaker 1: we can't afford to go to Adelaide. But you know,
- 43:52Speaker 1: one day we'll dream be and the podcast will take
- 43:56Speaker 1: us to San Juan and Porto Rico.
- 43:58Speaker 3: See, you know what we need to do. That song
- 44:00Speaker 3: was AI generated and it's made it into Spotify, and
- 44:04Speaker 3: like could be no, we I agree, but we could
- 44:09Speaker 3: become recording artists and we could get ourselves to Puerto
- 44:13Speaker 3: Rico that way.
- 44:14Speaker 1: This has this so someone wanted after Gordy wrote her
- 44:18Speaker 1: song on AI for you, someone no Darryl Milton, when
- 44:22Speaker 1: someone said we need another song about Blad Darylson. We'll
- 44:25Speaker 1: get Sue Gordion on it. And then he went, oh yeah,
- 44:27Speaker 1: but Carolyn wrote that Christmas song to it, so yes,
- 44:30Speaker 1: Darryl and I did not use AI. I wrote it
- 44:33Speaker 1: and I got real musicians involved, and Darryl's a musician.
- 44:37Speaker 1: He said, oh, I appreciate that, but we've got his AI. Okay,
- 44:40Speaker 1: all right, we'll move with the times. But come on, no, Catherine,
- 44:43Speaker 1: we're not endorsing.
- 44:44Speaker 3: No.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Dribble does not recommend. Although it was a bit cat
- 44:47Speaker 1: it did. Now it makes sense. That's why it sounds
- 44:50Speaker 1: so kind of men familiar.
- 44:52Speaker 2: It sounded like you sounded like the love Boat?
- 44:57Speaker 1: Which character did you most relate to? On the love Boat?
- 45:00Speaker 2: We have to go?
- 45:01Speaker 3: But do you know what? Watching those shows back, they're
- 45:04Speaker 3: so wrong, aren't they so bad? Like all the men
- 45:08Speaker 3: sitting around the bar and the women walking around their
- 45:10Speaker 3: bikinis and just the whole thing is off.
- 45:12Speaker 2: I will say that it's a good gig.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Julie McCoy, though Cruiz director, she was a bastion of
- 45:16Speaker 1: efficiency and I think highly underrated. She's like the Hermione Granger.
- 45:21Speaker 1: You know there's the summer half away from School of Rock.
- 45:25Speaker 1: You know these these these women are underrated, but they
- 45:27Speaker 1: get shipped done.
- 45:29Speaker 2: On that note, I think it's like defenses.
- 45:32Speaker 3: Did you hear that? Please?
- 45:36Speaker 1: All right, well, we're looking forward to seeing those of
- 45:40Speaker 1: you who are with us tonight. Everyone else gets your
- 45:43Speaker 1: tips in for the valent rip with Tipping Camp. We've
- 45:46Speaker 1: only got a couple more rounds left of netball. It's
- 45:48Speaker 1: getting very exciting. And I'm Carolyn Swinder, I'm Lozella sparked
- 45:54Speaker 1: bye see later. Fine, okay, just a final.
- 46:04Speaker 3: My knee. Have you ever done a reflex test on yourself? Oh?
- 46:12Speaker 1: Man, in my life, Sally, She's just whacked herself with
- 46:18Speaker 1: her empty water bottle.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Mhm, that was weird.
- 46:23Speaker 1: You see my eyes open? Did you wake your pants so.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Oh far out?
- 46:30Speaker 2: I was meant to just sit there. Well you're still alive,
- 46:32Speaker 2: then that's good.
- 46:33Speaker 3: That's a first.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Lucky that one didn't go to air.
- 46:37Speaker 3: Dearie me
