- 0:29Speaker 3: dot com.
- 0:34Speaker 2: So as we of course continue to focus on Aran,
- 0:36Speaker 2: we did not want to lose sight of some of
- 0:38Speaker 2: the other fronts in this war, in particular Israel's invasion
- 0:42Speaker 2: of Lebanon and some ongoing programs in the West Bank
- 0:45Speaker 2: that are truly horrifying. Let's go ahead and start with Lebanon.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Here we can put these images up on the screen.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I mean, here you see effectively an entire village that
- 0:55Speaker 2: is just completely destroyed, blown up by the Israelis. You
- 1:00Speaker 2: now have a level of mass displacement in Lebanon that
- 1:04Speaker 2: approaches some of the worst conflicts in the world, and
- 1:07Speaker 2: obviously this just happened in a very short period of times.
- 1:10Speaker 2: You have over one million people in Lebanon, civilians who
- 1:14Speaker 2: are internally displaced from southern Lebanon, and you can see
- 1:18Speaker 2: just the absolute destruction here. Of course, there have been
- 1:20Speaker 2: very high death tolls and very high civilian death tolls
- 1:24Speaker 2: as well. Let me go ahead and put this up
- 1:26Speaker 2: on the screen though, because this will not be a
- 1:29Speaker 2: surprised that anyone who watches this show, But just so
- 1:31Speaker 2: you know, Israeli officials making it very plain what their
- 1:35Speaker 2: goal is here with regard to this invasion of Lebanon.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Smotrich urges Israel to annex southern Lebanon as assault intensifies.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Israel's far right Minister of Finance Bezalielsmotrich has urged his
- 1:49Speaker 2: country to annic southern Lebanon as the military has destroyed bridges,
- 1:54Speaker 2: will come back to that and homes in an intensified
- 1:56Speaker 2: assault on the area. And an Israeli radio interview on
- 2:00Speaker 2: Mondaysmochrit said the bombardment of Lebanon needs to end with
- 2:03Speaker 2: a different reality entirely, which includes a quote change.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Of Israel's borders.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Quote I say here definitively, in every room and in
- 2:14Speaker 2: every discussion too. The new Israeli border must be the
- 2:19Speaker 2: Latani he said, referring to the Latani River, a critical
- 2:22Speaker 2: waterway that cuts through southern Lebanon, about nineteen miles from
- 2:25Speaker 2: the border with Israel. His comments come as Israel continues
- 2:28Speaker 2: to carry out deadly attacks on Lebanon, striking residential buildings
- 2:31Speaker 2: and other civilian infrastructure, which the UN has already said
- 2:35Speaker 2: aunt may amount to war crimes.
- 2:37Speaker 4: So Sager, greater.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Israel project, here we go, and it's not just Listen.
- 2:43Speaker 2: People love to dismiss him as some just like, oh,
- 2:45Speaker 2: he's just some.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Far right crime. No, this is a government.
- 2:48Speaker 2: He is a part of this government, a very influential one,
- 2:51Speaker 2: by the way, who has gotten his way in many
- 2:54Speaker 2: other instances. And oftentimes characters like him are the ones
- 2:57Speaker 2: who will just say it outright is actually happening with
- 3:00Speaker 2: the thinking and what the goals are behind the scenes.
- 3:03Speaker 2: So you should absolutely believe him when he says that
- 3:06Speaker 2: this is the goal and this is what they're going
- 3:08Speaker 2: to try to Anstey.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Look, if you've been watching the show we talked about
- 3:11Speaker 3: this literally last week we said, what is that The
- 3:14Speaker 3: Israeli security people were putting out calls we have to
- 3:18Speaker 3: evacuate the population from the Latani River or above the
- 3:22Speaker 3: Latani River, and that means usually what mass ethnic displacement.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Then they said, what, well, you will not be allowed
- 3:30Speaker 3: to return until Hezbola is no longer a threat. De
- 3:33Speaker 3: facto annexation and security control and now oh, let's just
- 3:37Speaker 3: annex it. Do you see how this all this is
- 3:39Speaker 3: the span of one week, and he's saying, you know,
- 3:41Speaker 3: all the classic stuff. We cannot return to October sixth,
- 3:44Speaker 3: where the enemy is on our fences. We will push
- 3:46Speaker 3: them away on all fronts and create a sterile security
- 3:49Speaker 3: cordon that will separate the enemy from our citizens. The
- 3:52Speaker 3: yellow line is the point within the Gaza strip. So
- 3:55Speaker 3: they basically want to recreate the Gaza situation and turn
- 3:58Speaker 3: it back into this. I mean, it's all out in
- 4:01Speaker 3: the open. The politicians are not willing to go as
- 4:05Speaker 3: far as smow Trich. But de facto annexation is basically
- 4:10Speaker 3: the same as annexations like the West Bank, which we're
- 4:11Speaker 3: about to talk about here in a second. Like if
- 4:14Speaker 3: you control the area, if you're militarily occupying it, and
- 4:18Speaker 3: you've expelled the population or ongoing efforts to do so,
- 4:21Speaker 3: you basically do control the entire country.
- 4:23Speaker 1: So here we go. We can add just another few.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Square mile, not scare, a lot of people live there,
- 4:29Speaker 3: but you know, more square miles into the Greater Israel
- 4:31Speaker 3: project since October six, twenty twenty three.
- 4:34Speaker 1: It's unbelievable.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Let's go ahead and put this next piece up on
- 4:36Speaker 2: the screen because this relates to what I was saying
- 4:38Speaker 2: about the amount of displaced people.
- 4:40Speaker 4: So this is the current ongoing.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Level of displaced people as a percent of total population.
- 4:48Speaker 2: You can see one million people have been displaced in Lebanon.
- 4:51Speaker 2: This is equivalent to twenty percent of their population. This
- 4:56Speaker 2: has happened in just three weeks time. And the person
- 4:59Speaker 2: who posted this says, Israel has pushed Lebanon into the
- 5:03Speaker 2: ranks of the world's worst displacement crises almost overnight. Syria
- 5:06Speaker 2: and Somalia took years to reach this level, and Israel
- 5:10Speaker 2: did this in three weeks. Let's put the next piece
- 5:12Speaker 2: up on the screen. You've got yet another bridge over
- 5:16Speaker 2: the Latani River that was destroyed in an airstrike.
- 5:20Speaker 4: This is just the latest one.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Put the next image up on the screen where you
- 5:24Speaker 2: can see a map of all of the bridges that
- 5:28Speaker 2: they have already destroyed. So you have one, two, three, four, five, six,
- 5:33Speaker 2: seven bridges over the Little Tani River that have been destroyed.
- 5:38Speaker 4: What is this.
- 5:38Speaker 2: This is an effort to separate southern Lebanon from the
- 5:42Speaker 2: rest of the country. So again, if you're looking to
- 5:45Speaker 2: annex this area and not just temporarily but permanently displace
- 5:49Speaker 2: the civilian population, what would you do. You would destroy
- 5:52Speaker 2: the civilian infrastructure, check they're doing that, you force people
- 5:55Speaker 2: to leave obviously under bombardment that's already been done. Then
- 5:58Speaker 2: you would destroy the ability of them to be able
- 6:01Speaker 2: to come back, so that you can totally control the space.
- 6:05Speaker 4: That's exactly what.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Is going on here, and you know you can see
- 6:08Speaker 2: it really clearly when you take a look at this map.
- 6:11Speaker 2: The next piece we wanted to get to is in
- 6:14Speaker 2: the West Bank. We're also going to have Jasper Nathaniel
- 6:16Speaker 2: on on Friday to talk more about what is going
- 6:18Speaker 2: on in the West Bank because he has done such
- 6:20Speaker 2: incredible on the ground journalism and activism with regard to that.
- 6:24Speaker 2: So put D six up on the screen Obviously, these
- 6:28Speaker 2: problems in the West Bank are just sort of permanently ongoing,
- 6:31Speaker 2: but there has been a spike in violence recently, and
- 6:34Speaker 2: it appears to have been sparked by this incident. So
- 6:37Speaker 2: you had an Israeli settler who was riding around on
- 6:42Speaker 2: an atv or in a pickup truck, I can't tell which.
- 6:44Speaker 4: It looks like a pickup truck there trying.
- 6:47Speaker 2: To menace Palestinians, you know, roving through the land, trying
- 6:49Speaker 2: to intimidate them, and gets in an accident. Okay, keep
- 6:53Speaker 2: this up on the screen. So what this footage shows
- 6:56Speaker 2: is the very Palestinian residents who are being menaced by
- 6:59Speaker 2: this settler. When the settler was in trouble, went over
- 7:03Speaker 2: to try to help these settlers who were injured, and
- 7:07Speaker 2: one of the settlers ended up dying in this accident.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Then you had some of the settlers and ministers in
- 7:14Speaker 2: the Israeli government falsely labeled this as a murder, claim
- 7:18Speaker 2: that the Palestinians, you know, intentionally caused this crash and
- 7:22Speaker 2: attacked these settlers, and that is what helped you incite
- 7:26Speaker 2: this uptick in pograms against these Palestinian villages.
- 7:30Speaker 4: So think of how sick.
- 7:31Speaker 2: This is these Palestinians who were under direct threat from
- 7:34Speaker 2: these settlers when the settlers were in trouble, went over
- 7:36Speaker 2: and tried to help, brought in Palestinian Red Cross and teams,
- 7:40Speaker 2: and then they got blamed for it and it incited
- 7:42Speaker 2: these you know, this violent race attacks from the settlers.
- 7:47Speaker 2: So we can put the next piece up on the
- 7:48Speaker 2: screen to see, you know, Griffin put together a whole
- 7:51Speaker 2: compilation of some of the images that are coming out
- 7:54Speaker 2: of the region here and it's just absolutely horrifying. You
- 7:58Speaker 2: can see these these fires that are on This is okay.
- 8:02Speaker 2: This is settlers who are lined up on the road
- 8:04Speaker 2: outside of Palestinian village waiting to come in. These are
- 8:08Speaker 2: settlers rampaging through the streets as they you know, go
- 8:12Speaker 2: on their violent attack and attempt to steal land. Here
- 8:16Speaker 2: you can see Israeli settlers in West Bank rampage through
- 8:18Speaker 2: Palestinian villages. More images of this infiltration, you know, which
- 8:24Speaker 2: leads to attacks. You can see buildings being set on
- 8:28Speaker 2: fire here by settlers as well, you know, more damage, destruction, fires,
- 8:34Speaker 2: et cetera. And there's a whole it's it's what some
- 8:39Speaker 2: of the people, like I've seen you know, Richie Torres
- 8:42Speaker 2: and uh you know Batcya Ang Saga and others who
- 8:46Speaker 2: are you know, big Zionists coming out recently to condemn
- 8:49Speaker 2: these attacks. And they love to paint the settlers Saga
- 8:53Speaker 2: as this sort of like fringe, rogue element, and that
- 8:57Speaker 2: could not be further from the truth. These settles are
- 9:00Speaker 2: performing the actions the government wants them to perform, and
- 9:03Speaker 2: they're protected by them, and they are protected by them.
- 9:05Speaker 2: They're protected by the government, they're protected by the IDF
- 9:08Speaker 2: when they commit these crimes, when they kill people, when
- 9:11Speaker 2: they as we're going to show you later, when they
- 9:13Speaker 2: rape people, when they assault them, when they steal their land,
- 9:17Speaker 2: when they burn down their homes, are they held accountable
- 9:20Speaker 2: in a criminal court. No, not at all. If anyone
- 9:24Speaker 2: in the exchange is going to be criminalized, it will
- 9:26Speaker 2: be the Palestinians.
- 9:27Speaker 4: So if you see people who are out.
- 9:29Speaker 2: There, you know, doing a little perfunctorial of these settlers,
- 9:32Speaker 2: they have to, you know, Israel needs to crack down
- 9:34Speaker 2: on them.
- 9:35Speaker 4: They are covering for.
- 9:36Speaker 2: The fact that this is a systematic, intentional campaign that
- 9:42Speaker 2: is supported both overtly and covertly by the Israeli government,
- 9:46Speaker 2: and that is not just me saying that is a
- 9:48Speaker 2: well documented fact.
- 9:49Speaker 4: I saw. I don't know if you saw this JD.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Van So he said to Netty, you need to cut
- 9:54Speaker 4: this out. It's like bullshit.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I mean, if you're not going to do anything about
- 9:58Speaker 2: it and they're going to be no penalty, this is utterly,
- 10:01Speaker 2: utterly meaningless. You know, in the same way that you
- 10:05Speaker 2: know when Biden was in control and you would have
- 10:07Speaker 2: the finger wagging.
- 10:08Speaker 4: It was also utterly.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Point that they were apparently upset about. Actually proves the
- 10:12Speaker 3: point which disproves all of these people who are allegedly
- 10:16Speaker 3: upset about it. The government does not use administrative detention
- 10:19Speaker 3: against these Israeli settlers. They only use it against the
- 10:22Speaker 3: Palestinians where denial of rights. They basically cannap you right,
- 10:26Speaker 3: put you in prison and all that. They never use it,
- 10:29Speaker 3: or haven't used it very recently, and except in extremely
- 10:32Speaker 3: rare cases they might now because of all of this pressure.
- 10:35Speaker 3: I don't really know why everyone woke up one day
- 10:37Speaker 3: and it was like, Wow, this is so horrible.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I'm like this has been going on.
- 10:40Speaker 3: For years, it's accelerated, Like, what's the theory?
- 10:43Speaker 4: I saw a.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Theory from Chielle, who was like, the reason is because
- 10:47Speaker 2: since the IDF has to get involved over there to
- 10:50Speaker 2: like protect the settlers or whatever, it takes away from
- 10:52Speaker 2: their ability to invade Lebanon. So it's like, you know,
- 10:55Speaker 2: it's a forced distribution issue, not actually more lack oh.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Like October seventh, whatever, all those guys were in the
- 11:03Speaker 3: West Bank protecting the settlers and not on the border.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Oh shocker, wow, weird never yeah before I mean, and also, look,
- 11:09Speaker 3: these people are sick. Let's put D eight up here
- 11:12Speaker 3: on the screen. Story after story after story. Palestinian man
- 11:16Speaker 3: recounts brutal sexual assault by Israeli settlers. The man said
- 11:20Speaker 3: that his attacker stripped him, naked, beat him, zip tied
- 11:23Speaker 3: his genitalia, an account that was corroborated by at family
- 11:26Speaker 3: members and rights activists who were also beaten.
- 11:29Speaker 2: And I mean their family, the children, they were all
- 11:33Speaker 2: beaten by these settlers. They sexually humiliated him in front
- 11:37Speaker 2: of the entire family. The only one who escaped unscathed
- 11:42Speaker 2: was a young, you know, several month old baby, because
- 11:46Speaker 2: she was like hidden and slept through it.
- 11:48Speaker 4: What a miracle.
- 11:48Speaker 2: But everybody else was assaulted by these settlers.
- 11:53Speaker 1: And listen to this.
- 11:54Speaker 3: They also stole the family's four hundred sheep its entire lively,
- 11:57Speaker 3: along with wedding rings, other jewelriese savers, and identification papers.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Has there been any punishment?
- 12:06Speaker 1: Not currently?
- 12:07Speaker 2: Now ask yourself, just ask yourself. Let's say the roles
- 12:11Speaker 2: were reversed. Oh yeah, let's say it was a Palestinian
- 12:14Speaker 2: who did this too. In Israeli, you every every mainstream
- 12:18Speaker 2: media only would cover it. It'd be all over the place,
- 12:21Speaker 2: you could, would not be able to escape it. You
- 12:23Speaker 2: would know every every detail of it in some additional
- 12:26Speaker 2: that they invented. I mean that and so, but when
- 12:29Speaker 2: this happens with the palace, thank you to the New
- 12:31Speaker 2: York Times for actually covering this. But you know the
- 12:33Speaker 2: level of violence that is just currently, you know, consistently
- 12:37Speaker 2: ongoing in the West Bank, in which there has been
- 12:39Speaker 2: a significant uptick since October seventh. I mean, you've had
- 12:42Speaker 2: multiple deaths in the West Bank, people being murdered by
- 12:45Speaker 2: settlers just in this year. I think it's the number
- 12:48Speaker 2: is already up to seven or eight. Do you see
- 12:51Speaker 2: that in the mainstream news coverage. I saw Chris Cuomo
- 12:56Speaker 2: come out and be and share one of these articles.
- 12:58Speaker 2: It might have even been this article, and like WGF.
- 13:01Speaker 2: It's like, dude, you are at cn for how you
- 13:03Speaker 2: call yourself a journalist, So you're like shocked and surprised
- 13:06Speaker 2: by this. This is the program, this is what they're
- 13:09Speaker 2: doing all the time. And of course he's this big
- 13:11Speaker 2: Zionist defender and now acting like he's so surprised and
- 13:14Speaker 2: shocked by this horror that is consistently ongoing.
- 13:18Speaker 3: In my opinion, at this point, you have to be
- 13:19Speaker 3: willfully ignorant. I think pre October seventh, it's fair enough.
- 13:22Speaker 3: You know, you don't know a ton.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Not paying attention, not paying at I wasn't I didn't
- 13:26Speaker 4: pay a much attention.
- 13:27Speaker 3: It's kind of like whatever, I know, people care a
- 13:29Speaker 3: lot about it. But you know, after this point, especially
- 13:31Speaker 3: if you work in the news business, if you're a
- 13:33Speaker 3: normal person, you're forgiven. But if you work in news,
- 13:36Speaker 3: if you just read the Israeli press, which details some
- 13:39Speaker 3: of this and over and over again, we've got these
- 13:43Speaker 3: rampaging settler attacks, the Jasper Nathaniel multiple incidents, the multiple
- 13:47Speaker 3: American citizens who've been killed in the West Bend, the
- 13:51Speaker 3: actions of the way that these people are treated and
- 13:54Speaker 3: defended by the government that WHI didn't they arm them?
- 13:57Speaker 1: They gave them guns. Yeah, they protect.
- 14:00Speaker 3: There's been murder, They've been murders on camera, which you
- 14:02Speaker 3: played for here on the show.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Rape. Yeah, good luck to our YouTube mind.
- 14:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Whatever way we do the news because we have to.
- 14:10Speaker 2: By the way, in this attack where a Palestinian man
- 14:14Speaker 2: was you know, was raped, uh the activist, there is
- 14:17Speaker 2: an American who was also assaulted. By the way, where
- 14:22Speaker 2: is our state to bar where are the politicians? You know,
- 14:24Speaker 2: whose constituent is she Jasper obviously was was menaced by
- 14:29Speaker 2: a mob of settlers. His congressman is Dan Goldman. Currently
- 14:34Speaker 2: Goldman is one of these who suddenly you know, he's
- 14:36Speaker 2: an art Zionist. He suddenly put on his statement all
- 14:38Speaker 2: these settlers attacks need to stop. It's like your literal
- 14:40Speaker 2: constituent was attacked by these people and you had nothing
- 14:45Speaker 2: to say. You did absolutely nothing, and you expect me
- 14:49Speaker 2: to believe that now you're so sincerely concerned by it.
- 14:51Speaker 2: But I mean the reason for him is that he
- 14:53Speaker 2: has a primary challenge from brod Lander, and so suddenly
- 14:55Speaker 2: he's trying to you know, trying to signal though no, no,
- 14:58Speaker 2: I I care about it humanity, Sure I do so.
- 15:01Speaker 4: Anyway, that's what's going on there.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Great, all right, let's get to airports.
- 15:07Speaker 2: So in yesterday's show we mentioned all of the chaos
- 15:10Speaker 2: ongoing at American airports, in part because of the DHS shutdown,
- 15:14Speaker 2: which has meant all kinds of TSA workers calling out
- 15:16Speaker 2: of work because they're not getting paid. We also had
- 15:19Speaker 2: this horrific collision that occurred. Let's go and put this
- 15:23Speaker 2: up on the screen. So this was in an Air
- 15:26Speaker 2: Canada flight to AC eight six four six colliding with
- 15:30Speaker 2: a port Authority fire truck. This happened at LaGuardia Airport.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Both the pilots were killed in this horrendous crash. You
- 15:40Speaker 2: had a flight attendant who was actually ejected from the plane.
- 15:43Speaker 2: You had dozens of passengers who were injured. You know,
- 15:47Speaker 2: the two on the truck were also injured. Miraculous that
- 15:49Speaker 2: they're frankly that they're alive. There was some audio that
- 15:52Speaker 2: came out yesterday Soger too. I don't know if you
- 15:54Speaker 2: saw of Apparently what happened is you had air traffic
- 15:58Speaker 2: controllers who are show staffed. You had an emergency with
- 16:02Speaker 2: a different plane where they had they suspected there was
- 16:06Speaker 2: a fire on board. They were trying to send this
- 16:08Speaker 2: fire truck over to that other airplane gave it clearance
- 16:13Speaker 2: to cross the runway at exactly the moment this Air
- 16:16Speaker 2: Canada plane is landing. I also read, you know, harrowing
- 16:20Speaker 2: account of one of the passengers who survived the crash.
- 16:23Speaker 2: It was on the plane and they said that they
- 16:25Speaker 2: there was this there was a bumpy landing, and it
- 16:27Speaker 2: was a lot of turbulence, and then when they hit
- 16:29Speaker 2: the runway they could hear this grinding screech of the
- 16:33Speaker 2: brakes as the pilots tried to do everything they could
- 16:36Speaker 2: to avoid this collision, which obviously there was nothing they
- 16:39Speaker 2: could do. And you know, our hearts go out to
- 16:40Speaker 2: their families.
- 16:41Speaker 1: It's so bad.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Let's put you one be guys up on the screen,
- 16:44Speaker 3: shows the pilot and some of the damage. It's just, yes,
- 16:47Speaker 3: so heartbreaking. The pilot who died from Quebec thirty year old.
- 16:51Speaker 3: And yeah, I mean I think the copilot also was
- 16:54Speaker 3: very very young. So it's just I mean, it's not
- 16:56Speaker 3: just tragic, but it shows like the precarity of a
- 16:59Speaker 3: lot of commercial air travel right now.
- 17:00Speaker 1: And I think all of these together.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Look, remember there are millions of flights all around the
- 17:06Speaker 3: world every day. You only hear about things like this
- 17:08Speaker 3: when they go bad, But when you combine it, it
- 17:11Speaker 3: just feels like things here are falling apart. You got
- 17:14Speaker 3: airport closures, runway. You know, LaGuardia was closed all day. Yeah,
- 17:18Speaker 3: I mean you used to live in New York. You
- 17:20Speaker 3: know this is insanity close LaGuardia.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Yeah, you know you had a fire in Newark Liberty.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Newark Liberty. It's a United Hub. It's literally a gateway
- 17:30Speaker 3: to the globe. You can fly direct to like Singapore
- 17:32Speaker 3: and New Delhi from Newark. I mean literally like millions
- 17:36Speaker 3: of people fly through that airport every single year. Then
- 17:39Speaker 3: you've got the TSA situation. We got some of the
- 17:42Speaker 3: vo We could put some of this up here on
- 17:43Speaker 3: the screen. It is madness. I thank god I have
- 17:48Speaker 3: a baby, now fly very much anymore.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Look Look at that. Look at that kid in the stroller.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Five two am Hartsfield Jackson where they told everyone yesterday
- 17:58Speaker 3: to show up four hours early.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Bush in Kai. I used to live.
- 18:01Speaker 3: This is my own home airport, but ih my old
- 18:05Speaker 3: stomping grounds, New York City. Apparently there's no pre check.
- 18:09Speaker 3: There's no clear there's just one line New Orleans, multiple
- 18:13Speaker 3: hour lines, all the videos here you got people, I mean,
- 18:16Speaker 3: think about it. At one point, this is my personal nightmare.
- 18:19Speaker 3: They're now doing live entertainment for the lines, like people
- 18:22Speaker 3: like bands and okay, right, it's like entertainment. It's like
- 18:28Speaker 3: whenever the Southwest flight to Hawaii pastor around ukuleles. I'm like,
- 18:31Speaker 3: you might as well take that ukulele and beat me
- 18:33Speaker 3: over that with it rather than have to listen to
- 18:35Speaker 3: other people. But I mean, think about that. That's madness
- 18:38Speaker 3: to have to sit in some of these lines. I'm joking,
- 18:40Speaker 3: but it's not funny, Like it's absolute insanity. And yes,
- 18:44Speaker 3: it's a result of the of the TSA, of the
- 18:46Speaker 3: DHS shutdown. Honestly, this is the irony, and we'll get
- 18:50Speaker 3: to some of the political impacts. If if Iran was
- 18:53Speaker 3: not happening, this would be the biggest story in the
- 18:56Speaker 3: country every day on CNN or on our show. We
- 19:00Speaker 3: would have line updates like we were doing with gas prices.
- 19:02Speaker 3: But it was one hour and a half yesterday, so
- 19:04Speaker 3: now it barely rates at the very end of the show,
- 19:07Speaker 3: and for good reason, because we're literally in the middle
- 19:09Speaker 3: of a goddamn war. But this is the problem for Trump.
- 19:12Speaker 3: There was potential to try and have some national debate.
- 19:15Speaker 3: I think they would lose, but they could try.
- 19:17Speaker 1: DHS. Democrats are holding his hostage. Now nobody cares.
- 19:20Speaker 3: It's literally like you know, a five in the New
- 19:23Speaker 3: York Times or something if you think about the old newspapers.
- 19:25Speaker 3: And that is massively to the Democrats benefit, because this
- 19:29Speaker 3: is like a poly crisis. Now for Trump, you have
- 19:31Speaker 3: the war, we have to spend the vast majority of
- 19:33Speaker 3: his resources. Gas prices are going up. Everybody's very concerned.
- 19:37Speaker 3: All of the pressure now with tsa breakdown. Americans have
- 19:41Speaker 3: heard nothing about DHS or any of this other stuff
- 19:43Speaker 3: about what the the contours of the debate are. They're like,
- 19:46Speaker 3: I need this shit to end now now They're like,
- 19:48Speaker 3: I don't care what you have to do.
- 19:50Speaker 1: It needs to be over.
- 19:51Speaker 3: And so the political pressure on the White House is immense.
- 19:54Speaker 3: It actually looks like this morning we might get some
- 19:56Speaker 3: sort of deal. Chuck Schumer said that they're talking. The
- 19:59Speaker 3: likelihood of that d would basically be to carb ice
- 20:01Speaker 3: funding out of everything else and then fight about that
- 20:04Speaker 3: later on. Kind of makes sense because ICE is already
- 20:06Speaker 3: fully funded. That's part of the reason the agents are
- 20:08Speaker 3: in the airports, because they're the ones who aren't getting paid.
- 20:11Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean politically nightmarish for the White House. Yeah,
- 20:15Speaker 3: stuff like this always will fire back on the chief
- 20:17Speaker 3: executive because he's the merchant who's in control.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Of course, ye have the House, they have the Senate,
- 20:21Speaker 2: they're in control of the White House. So especially on
- 20:23Speaker 2: an issue where I do think that this kind of
- 20:25Speaker 2: caught people off guard because it's not a full government shutdown,
- 20:28Speaker 2: so you.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Haven't had all this discourse about.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Okay, what are the contours of the debate, and what
- 20:31Speaker 2: are they asking for and what's the hold up whatever.
- 20:33Speaker 4: People are just like this sucks.
- 20:34Speaker 2: I put him the president, and then the President went
- 20:37Speaker 2: out of his way to go ahead and take on
- 20:39Speaker 2: that blame because there was actually a deal that Democrats
- 20:42Speaker 2: were willing to strike that John Thune was negotiating, and
- 20:46Speaker 2: you know, like Souger said, it would carve ount I separately.
- 20:48Speaker 2: They would fund the rest of DHS. That means TSA
- 20:51Speaker 2: agents would start getting paid. That's the crux of the
- 20:53Speaker 2: issue is that TSA agents are not getting paid but
- 20:56Speaker 2: are still expected to work well, there's going to be
- 20:59Speaker 2: some certain percentage that is, like I need to earn
- 21:01Speaker 2: a paycheck. I will not be at that job where
- 21:03Speaker 2: you're forcing me to work for free. I will be
- 21:05Speaker 2: at an actual job where I need to.
- 21:06Speaker 4: Get paid, because that is the reality of life.
- 21:09Speaker 2: So you're having mass callouts of TSA agents, which is
- 21:11Speaker 2: leading to these lines. So in any case, Trump came
- 21:16Speaker 2: out and was like, no, no deal, because I want
- 21:19Speaker 2: you to not only fund DHS, but I also want
- 21:23Speaker 2: you to pass the Save America Acts.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Yeah, put E seven up.
- 21:27Speaker 2: On the screen. This is just the punch bowl report.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Trump to fun no deal. He made it very clear
- 21:33Speaker 2: you had actually let's go and play E three. Senator Kennedy,
- 21:36Speaker 2: who is a Republican talking about the dynamics here, and
- 21:40Speaker 2: I believe this was over on Fox News talking about Okay, well,
- 21:43Speaker 2: Trump is the one who said he doesn't want to deal.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Let's take a listen to that, Senator.
- 21:47Speaker 5: The cruise and I came up with a plan. We said, well,
- 21:49Speaker 5: it's a two step process. The Democrats have offered open
- 21:54Speaker 5: up everything but ice. Okay, let's accept their offer, and
- 21:59Speaker 5: then at the same time we would offer a bill
- 22:03Speaker 5: for reconciliation where we don't need any Democratic votes to
- 22:08Speaker 5: do whatever we wanted to do with ice, and that
- 22:11Speaker 5: way we're out of the shutdown and dhs' is back open.
- 22:15Speaker 5: We submitted that shund of crafone submitted that to President Trump,
- 22:20Speaker 5: as is his right, he said no, no deals with
- 22:23Speaker 5: the Democrats.
- 22:24Speaker 1: It would have worked.
- 22:26Speaker 5: We could have had TSA paid by the end of
- 22:29Speaker 5: the week, but the President said no deal.
- 22:33Speaker 2: It works, but the President said no deal. Sure enough,
- 22:35Speaker 2: but he ate up on the screen. This is the
- 22:37Speaker 2: President directly saying no deal. I think I don't think
- 22:40Speaker 2: we should make any deal with the crazy country destroying
- 22:43Speaker 2: radical left Democrats unless and until they vote with Republicans
- 22:47Speaker 2: to pass the Save America Act, far more important than
- 22:50Speaker 2: anything else we are doing in the sun. That includes
- 22:52Speaker 2: giving these same terrible people, the Dems, who are to
- 22:53Speaker 2: blame for this mess, a five billion dollar cut in
- 22:55Speaker 2: ICE funding, a deal which, even when disguised as something else,
- 22:58Speaker 2: is unacceptable to me and the American people unless it
- 23:01Speaker 2: includes their approval of voter ID with picture citizenship to vote,
- 23:04Speaker 2: no mail in voting with exceptions, all paper ballots, no
- 23:08Speaker 2: men in women's sports, which just randomly got thrown into
- 23:11Speaker 2: this thing too, and no transgender mutilization, which is not
- 23:14Speaker 2: a word of our precious children. Put it all together,
- 23:16Speaker 2: and also let Leader Thoon clearly identify those few Republicans
- 23:20Speaker 2: that are voting against America.
- 23:21Speaker 4: They will never be elected again.
- 23:23Speaker 2: In other words, lump everything together as one and vote
- 23:26Speaker 2: kill the filibuster, and stay in DC for Easter if necessary.
- 23:29Speaker 4: Make America great again.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I mean obviously, like he's clearly shouldering the blame for
- 23:34Speaker 2: this chaos and American airports. It's happening during a time
- 23:37Speaker 2: when many families are traveling for spring break, so it's
- 23:40Speaker 2: going to impact more than just you know, the business
- 23:42Speaker 2: driv it obviously would, but right now is the time
- 23:44Speaker 2: of year when you're going to have more just like
- 23:46Speaker 2: ordinary middle class families who are planning their Florida trip
- 23:50Speaker 2: or whatever for their kids' spring break. And you also
- 23:54Speaker 2: see the high priority he puts on this Save America Act,
- 23:57Speaker 2: which he thinks is going to give him more pat
- 23:59Speaker 2: it will will give him or power to mess with
- 24:01Speaker 2: the min terms where he knows he is politically screwed.
- 24:04Speaker 3: If you look at it right now, I mean, the
- 24:06Speaker 3: irony too, is about the filibuster you and I are like, yeah.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Do it, you know, kill it.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Yeah, We're like great, okay, sure you can pass it now,
- 24:12Speaker 3: and then you know, in the future, other people who
- 24:14Speaker 3: are in power can pass whatever they want.
- 24:16Speaker 1: So let's go.
- 24:17Speaker 4: That's taken it, and I'm all I'm.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Ready, all right, kill it.
- 24:20Speaker 3: I'm happy to I'm happy to see it gone. You
- 24:22Speaker 3: want to pass David America for two years, we can
- 24:24Speaker 3: actually get some things that you know happen. I used
- 24:26Speaker 3: to be somewhat of a defender, like I understood, but
- 24:29Speaker 3: at this point it's just it's too much. And I've
- 24:30Speaker 3: even seen this restoration of what is it called the
- 24:33Speaker 3: talking filibuster. I think it's reasonable type of deal that's
- 24:37Speaker 3: too wonky. But the point is is it actually would
- 24:40Speaker 3: make it so that, yeah, the party in power be
- 24:42Speaker 3: able to do what they want, and if if you
- 24:43Speaker 3: don't like it, you can like whoever you want, or
- 24:46Speaker 3: to actually pass what they want.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Same thing what you were talking about.
- 24:48Speaker 3: If the Democrats take the Senate, then yeah, every piece
- 24:50Speaker 3: of Trump legislation literally ever, will be dead for the
- 24:54Speaker 3: entire president. There will be like a two year long
- 24:56Speaker 3: government shutdown basically if they if they wanted it, to
- 24:59Speaker 3: under the administration. That's the point. It would actually make
- 25:02Speaker 3: the government more responsive. But as of this morning, it
- 25:05Speaker 3: actually does look like there could be some deal. A
- 25:07Speaker 3: bunch of senators huddled with Trump last night. Potential breakthrough
- 25:11Speaker 3: last night where Trump met with Senator Katie Britt and
- 25:14Speaker 3: a few others. Chuck Schumer said, both sides are talking
- 25:17Speaker 3: in a serious way. Pressure's growing. It would probably come
- 25:21Speaker 3: down to what we just said, passing funding for everything
- 25:24Speaker 3: but Ice, and because ICE is already fully funded, it
- 25:27Speaker 3: would push it out to the future. Under the potential deal,
- 25:30Speaker 3: it would be restored under the HSI investigation team would
- 25:34Speaker 3: apparently be restored, requiring them to have what is it
- 25:38Speaker 3: called more investigatory actions and not reassigning the HSI agents
- 25:43Speaker 3: to immigration enforcement, on top of a few other deals.
- 25:46Speaker 3: So there might be some contours around it, but like
- 25:50Speaker 3: right now, from what we can tell, it actually does
- 25:53Speaker 3: look like this might be ending. And it's simply because
- 25:55Speaker 3: of all of the chaos with TSA and in the
- 25:59Speaker 3: airports something Trump. I don't know what they're thinking with
- 26:02Speaker 3: the ICE deployment, because look, you know, you guys know
- 26:06Speaker 3: my feelings about immigration. I've got my problems with Ice,
- 26:09Speaker 3: but at the very least, like the one thing politically
- 26:11Speaker 3: I would tell you not to do is to take
- 26:13Speaker 3: the most politicized law enforcement agency in the country and
- 26:17Speaker 3: then put it in front of all of the people
- 26:19Speaker 3: who are flying. You don't want to be seeing that,
- 26:22Speaker 3: you know, you don't want that in front of your
- 26:24Speaker 3: own eyes.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 26:26Speaker 3: It's like, imagine if you could take the most one
- 26:28Speaker 3: of the more unpopular parts of your presidency and then
- 26:30Speaker 3: just remind everybody constantly that it exists and that they're like,
- 26:35Speaker 3: you don't want that, all right, you kind of want
- 26:37Speaker 3: it out in the shadows.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Do we have the images? Can we show everybody?
- 26:40Speaker 4: Yeah? I mean, and I mean there's just you know,
- 26:42Speaker 4: it's an.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Idiotic idea on every level. And it's also doing nothing
- 26:47Speaker 2: to help the situation because they're not trained as TSA.
- 26:50Speaker 2: All the images that I've seen of him dying and
- 26:52Speaker 2: out are them just hanging around doing absolutely nothing. If
- 26:55Speaker 2: you guys seen that meme of the guy who's like pushing,
- 26:58Speaker 2: like trying to make it look like he's pushing himself waycar,
- 27:00Speaker 2: They're like.
- 27:01Speaker 4: Those are the you know, the ICE agents.
- 27:03Speaker 1: We gotta get some highway. I'm just gonna say it,
- 27:04Speaker 1: we gotta get some fucking weight requirements and view.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Oh yeah, seems has arrived at the airport. In any case,
- 27:11Speaker 2: they're basically just standing around doing nothing except making people
- 27:14Speaker 2: uncomfortable and angry, which you know they're already standing in
- 27:17Speaker 2: a long ass line feeling uncomfortable and angry, So there
- 27:21Speaker 2: you go. Steve Bannon says this should be a trial
- 27:24Speaker 2: run for sending them to the polling stations in November,
- 27:27Speaker 2: which I certainly don't think is completely.
- 27:29Speaker 4: Off the table.
- 27:30Speaker 2: But I did see one person say sager that this
- 27:32Speaker 2: made sense to them because they've often often wanted to
- 27:34Speaker 2: be shot in the face when they were waiting any
- 27:36Speaker 2: long airport line.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Okay, do we have time for me to rant a
- 27:39Speaker 1: little bit here?
- 27:39Speaker 5: All right?
- 27:40Speaker 3: Can I just say this, if you where are you
- 27:43Speaker 3: going that's so important to stand in line for four hours?
- 27:45Speaker 3: I'm just gonna say it. I understand the spring break
- 27:48Speaker 3: and all that. Look, flight credit exists. You can cancel
- 27:52Speaker 3: I g if you bitch and moan at a company enough,
- 27:54Speaker 3: they will give you a refund, stay home or drive.
- 27:57Speaker 1: I was telling you that somebody lady to tweet this.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Morning my daughter waited in line for eight hours and
- 28:02Speaker 3: mister fly sleeping in an airport.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Uh.
- 28:04Speaker 3: And just to make sure, where are you going that point,
- 28:07Speaker 3: like outside of a family emergency, don't go, you know,
- 28:10Speaker 3: just don't go if you have to go for work.
- 28:12Speaker 3: I guess even then, like can you not talk to
- 28:14Speaker 3: your boss? You're like, yo, man, I'm not waiting in
- 28:16Speaker 3: line for six and a half hours. Yes, I know
- 28:18Speaker 3: that's from a point of privilege. I just I feel
- 28:20Speaker 3: like there's probably a.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Way that is.
- 28:23Speaker 2: But I'm okay, this is your one vacation. You have
- 28:27Speaker 2: booked your stuff. It's not refundable. You can't get a
- 28:30Speaker 2: back waiting for this.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Told me there's no such thing as non refuge. There's
- 28:34Speaker 1: no such thing.
- 28:34Speaker 4: There is, of course, the thing of non refue It.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Says it in the fight.
- 28:37Speaker 3: If you calling up all the credit card company challenge
- 28:39Speaker 3: of transactional.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Can Airbnb, they're not getting you your money back. It's happening. No,
- 28:43Speaker 4: you can't figure it.
- 28:44Speaker 2: So if people have dropped a bunch of money, they're like,
- 28:46Speaker 2: all right, well, I guess I'm going to suffer for
- 28:48Speaker 2: a day so that I can get this vacation that
- 28:49Speaker 2: I saved up all year. So I have some empathy.
- 28:52Speaker 2: I will say Tim Dillon did a very funny bit
- 28:53Speaker 2: on that he saw it. He was like, he was
- 28:55Speaker 2: talking about Americans traveling abroad while we're like destroying the world.
- 29:00Speaker 2: He's like, get your assat. No one wants to see
- 29:03Speaker 2: you right now, Like you're gonna go on your you know,
- 29:06Speaker 2: you're gonna watch us drop a bomb on a school,
- 29:08Speaker 2: and then you're gonna go and enjoy like a vineyard
- 29:10Speaker 2: in Italy. He's like, stay home, do not go anywhere
- 29:13Speaker 2: no one wants to see your face.
- 29:15Speaker 4: I mean vacation, go to Florida.
- 29:16Speaker 3: I feel because you know, I hate the Euros too,
- 29:19Speaker 3: and their snobbishness.
- 29:20Speaker 1: You know, you know.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Iran, It's like as if you put your bases aren't
- 29:24Speaker 3: being used right now, your governments aren't sucking on the
- 29:26Speaker 3: teet of the USA, and you don't need those tourist
- 29:28Speaker 3: dollars to float your shitty economy. So I'm not gonna
- 29:31Speaker 3: give too much to them. The only thing that I
- 29:33Speaker 3: will sympathize with the Euros is whenever they complain about
- 29:36Speaker 3: how Americans will go to Europe like in the middle
- 29:38Speaker 3: of the summer and they'll wear like gym clothes while
- 29:41Speaker 3: all the other Italians are wearing so and you know
- 29:43Speaker 3: what they're right, right, it's gross.
- 29:45Speaker 1: That would be the you don't want you. I'm you imagine.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Sitting in the Tuscan shop and you're wearing an Italian
- 29:51Speaker 3: linen cut fine suit, you're like seventy six years old,
- 29:54Speaker 3: and then some guy walks in with an underarm or
- 29:57Speaker 3: T shirt that says protect this house with it T
- 30:00Speaker 3: shirt and one of those sunglasses that like wraps around
- 30:03Speaker 3: in the back and then mispronounces the word like latte
- 30:07Speaker 3: and then fumbles with euro coins or something.
- 30:09Speaker 1: That would discuss me too. All right, So I'm with them.
- 30:12Speaker 1: I'm with them on that front.
- 30:14Speaker 4: When you're a tourist, no.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Company and they walk up what they walk plenty in
- 30:19Speaker 3: leather shoes, it's not hard, all right.
- 30:20Speaker 1: You could buy some decent shoes.
- 30:22Speaker 4: They're made, they're made for that.
- 30:23Speaker 3: We're not okay, all right, let's get to the next
- 30:25Speaker 3: next guest, Brendan Steinhauser standing by.
- 30:30Speaker 2: So we've covered here extensively the battle between Anthropic and
- 30:33Speaker 2: the Pentagon.
- 30:34Speaker 4: We've also talked about some of the.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Ways AI may be deployed within the Iran warren previously
- 30:39Speaker 2: and currently still in Gaza join us now to speak
- 30:42Speaker 2: about those concerns and a lot more with regard to
- 30:44Speaker 2: AI is Brendan Steinhauser. He's the CEO of the Alliance
- 30:47Speaker 2: for Secure AI. Great to meet you, Brendan.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Good to see you.
- 30:50Speaker 3: To see you.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Yeah, So let's go ahead and put this element up
- 30:53Speaker 2: on the screen. This is some reporting from Lever News
- 30:56Speaker 2: that effectively, what they're finding here is Trump is trying
- 31:00Speaker 2: to push the requirements they were trying to force Onanthropic.
- 31:04Speaker 2: They're trying to push this government wide at this point.
- 31:07Speaker 2: So the headline here is Trump contracting clause would override
- 31:10Speaker 2: AI safeguards. I'm just going to read a little bit
- 31:12Speaker 2: of this article so people get a sense of it.
- 31:13Speaker 2: The Trump administration's quietly advancing a sweeping new contracting clause
- 31:17Speaker 2: that would empower federal officials to force AI companies to
- 31:20Speaker 2: scrap safety protocols, eliminate privacy protections, and follow other Trump
- 31:25Speaker 2: directives as a condition of doing business with the government,
- 31:28Speaker 2: according to a draft text reviewed by the Lever, What
- 31:32Speaker 2: do you make of this and what did you think
- 31:35Speaker 2: was sort of the central fight or the importance of
- 31:37Speaker 2: the battle between Anthropic and the Pentagon.
- 31:40Speaker 6: I think The central fight was that Anthropic has certain
- 31:43Speaker 6: principles and redlines as a company that it doesn't want
- 31:47Speaker 6: to cross, and those include making sure there are safeguards
- 31:51Speaker 6: on having a human in the loop on autonomous weapons.
- 31:54Speaker 6: They don't want to see so called killer robots just
- 31:57Speaker 6: going around and striking targets without a human being in
- 32:00Speaker 6: and making those decisions. And also they don't want their
- 32:03Speaker 6: technology used for surveillance of the American people. They don't
- 32:06Speaker 6: want to see a police state created in the United
- 32:08Speaker 6: States of America, especially powered by andthropics technology, and so
- 32:13Speaker 6: that's where they drew their red lines. They've had those
- 32:15Speaker 6: principles for a while, but the Department of War decided
- 32:18Speaker 6: that they were going to basically bully and broadbeat the
- 32:22Speaker 6: company into getting what they want, and ultimately Andropic was
- 32:25Speaker 6: designated a company that was supposedly a threat to national
- 32:29Speaker 6: security of supply chain risk, which I think is pretty ridiculous.
- 32:32Speaker 6: And then open Aye came in and said, okay, well,
- 32:34Speaker 6: we'll adhere to those to those rules essentially, even though
- 32:38Speaker 6: we claim that we have the same red lines. They
- 32:40Speaker 6: decided to make the deal, but I think it's a
- 32:42Speaker 6: very concerning thing for all Americans who are concerned about
- 32:45Speaker 6: our civil liberties and concerned about big tech getting too
- 32:48Speaker 6: close to a government that has shown some, you know,
- 32:52Speaker 6: quite authoritarian tendencies.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, this is what I worry about right now.
- 32:56Speaker 3: We're in a war, this is a literal wartime. And
- 32:59Speaker 3: the very day that this was all happening, the next
- 33:02Speaker 3: day we launched the operation against Iran. So what's your
- 33:06Speaker 3: assessment now? Currently we've already seen all of these. I mean,
- 33:10Speaker 3: the very first day of the campaign, a girls school
- 33:12Speaker 3: is struck. We know that, we don't know yet whether
- 33:15Speaker 3: AI was used in that, but it does highlight some
- 33:17Speaker 3: of the problems with target packages. And this is with
- 33:21Speaker 3: alleged human oversight. So imagine if you're hallucinating, hallucinating answers,
- 33:26Speaker 3: you could hallucinate targets in a situation like this.
- 33:29Speaker 1: So does the fact that.
- 33:29Speaker 3: We're already in a war amplify your warnings and your
- 33:32Speaker 3: analysis here?
- 33:34Speaker 6: Absolutely, I think we rushed to integrate AI into the Pentagon,
- 33:37Speaker 6: into everything we're doing. Certainly, there were reports of Claude,
- 33:41Speaker 6: the tool that Anthropic has created, being used in the
- 33:44Speaker 6: raid on Maduu and Venezuela, and by all accounts that
- 33:47Speaker 6: went quite well. But to your point, when you have
- 33:50Speaker 6: a problem with control over AI, we basically have acknowledged
- 33:54Speaker 6: we can't control it. There are times where not only hallucinates,
- 33:58Speaker 6: but it kind of does what the opposite of what
- 34:00Speaker 6: it's owner is intending for it to do. That's a
- 34:03Speaker 6: real problem. And so yes, you can lead to you
- 34:05Speaker 6: can see things lead to targets, innocent civilians being targeted
- 34:10Speaker 6: and killed. You could see eventually a situation where AI
- 34:14Speaker 6: decides to kind of override it's human overseeres. We've already
- 34:17Speaker 6: seen that in other arenas. There's no reason to think
- 34:19Speaker 6: that it won't happen in the military. And so when
- 34:22Speaker 6: you talk about losing control of the most powerful weapons,
- 34:25Speaker 6: powered by the most powerful technology with artificial intelligence, we're
- 34:29Speaker 6: entering some very scary territory and I think there have
- 34:31Speaker 6: to be guardrails imposed by Congress.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Brendan, can you tell people a little bit of your
- 34:36Speaker 2: backgrounds just so that they understand the political perspective that
- 34:38Speaker 2: you bring to this. You were an organizer with the
- 34:40Speaker 2: Tea Party, you know, how did you come to this
- 34:43Speaker 2: particular fight.
- 34:44Speaker 6: Yeah, I have a long background in Republican politics as
- 34:47Speaker 6: a strategist and the grassroots organizer. I also have a
- 34:50Speaker 6: master's degree in statecraft and international affairs from the Institute
- 34:54Speaker 6: of World Politics. I've always had an interest in international affairs,
- 34:57Speaker 6: and I kind of saw these worlds collide a little
- 34:59Speaker 6: bit with the rise of artificial intelligence. I've been reading
- 35:02Speaker 6: about the topic for some time. And then one of
- 35:04Speaker 6: my good friends actually was in the Trump administration, the
- 35:08Speaker 6: first admin at the Pentagon, and his job was at
- 35:11Speaker 6: the Joint Intelligence Artificial Intelligence Center there, and so he's
- 35:14Speaker 6: one of the people that recruited me into this space.
- 35:16Speaker 6: Is he's telling me to read this and read that,
- 35:18Speaker 6: and talk to this person and talk to that person.
- 35:20Speaker 6: And he has expressed a lot of these concerns publicly,
- 35:23Speaker 6: and it really convinced me that I needed to get
- 35:25Speaker 6: involved in this because it was going to be the
- 35:27Speaker 6: fight of our time.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Yeah, Brendan.
- 35:29Speaker 3: So within that context, we have watched now White House,
- 35:33Speaker 3: which effectively is joined at the hip with these AI companies.
- 35:36Speaker 3: I think for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, though,
- 35:39Speaker 3: really is valuation. I mean, after Liberation Day, the valuations
- 35:43Speaker 3: of these AI companies and their financial engineering has been
- 35:46Speaker 3: propping up American GDP. The data centers our stock markets.
- 35:50Speaker 3: But part of the issue that we see right now
- 35:52Speaker 3: is that the Iran war may be threatening all of that.
- 35:56Speaker 3: So let's put F one, for example, up here on
- 35:58Speaker 3: the screen. The FT is reporting that even without energy shocks,
- 36:02Speaker 3: there's a good chance that the closure of the straits
- 36:04Speaker 3: of overmoves will pop the AI bubble and lead to
- 36:07Speaker 3: a stock market crash. This is from energy costs, high
- 36:10Speaker 3: tech valuations, a lot of the Gulf Arabs who are
- 36:12Speaker 3: invested in these VC companies. So if we do see
- 36:16Speaker 3: some sort of burst, what impact do you think that
- 36:18Speaker 3: we'll have on this situation and the issues you care about.
- 36:21Speaker 6: Well, I think it's very demonstrably true that AI has
- 36:25Speaker 6: propped up the economy, that a lot of the numbers
- 36:28Speaker 6: that we see that are often kind of bragged about
- 36:31Speaker 6: might be somewhat artificial and driven by a lot of
- 36:33Speaker 6: circular financing between these various companies. And so if there
- 36:37Speaker 6: is an AI bubble and at burst, it could be
- 36:39Speaker 6: very bad for the American people, very bad for the
- 36:42Speaker 6: world economy in fact. And look, the other thing that's
- 36:45Speaker 6: happening right now is we're seeing job losses occurring in
- 36:48Speaker 6: hiring freeze is due to AI. In fact, we rolled
- 36:50Speaker 6: out a website called job loss dot Ai to track
- 36:53Speaker 6: those numbers, and we've already seen one hundred thousand jobs
- 36:56Speaker 6: lost due to AI this year and going back into
- 36:59Speaker 6: lilast year. And so it's a really concerning situation. And Yeah,
- 37:04Speaker 6: if we have this straight up for moves closed or
- 37:07Speaker 6: even contested and not fully open for some time, you
- 37:09Speaker 6: could see energy prices continue to rise. You could see
- 37:12Speaker 6: people paying more money at the pump. You could see
- 37:15Speaker 6: supply chain risks of course related to not only oil
- 37:18Speaker 6: and gas, but semiconductor chips because so much of the
- 37:21Speaker 6: manufacturing relies upon some of these minerals that are coming
- 37:24Speaker 6: out of the Strait as well. So it could be
- 37:26Speaker 6: a really dire situation economically. And my hope for the president,
- 37:31Speaker 6: look as a Republican, I mean, my hope for the
- 37:33Speaker 6: president is that he sees all of this and gets
- 37:34Speaker 6: ahead of it, and Republicans in Congress sort of wake
- 37:37Speaker 6: up to what's going on and get ahead of it.
- 37:39Speaker 6: I haven't seen a lot of signs on that so far,
- 37:42Speaker 6: but we're starting to hear a few a few things
- 37:44Speaker 6: here and there in Capitol Hill that do give us
- 37:46Speaker 6: some hope that they will figure this out and get
- 37:48Speaker 6: ahead of it.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Can you talk a little bit more about you said
- 37:51Speaker 2: the website you run job loss dot ai to track
- 37:54Speaker 2: the direct job loss from artificial intelligence, which I imagine
- 37:58Speaker 2: is a tricky challenge because I know a bunch of
- 38:00Speaker 2: these companies have said, well, basically, what we're going to
- 38:02Speaker 2: do is just not hire more people and allow people
- 38:05Speaker 2: to sort of naturally leave. That's something that Amazon has
- 38:07Speaker 2: talked about in some internal memos.
- 38:09Speaker 4: For example.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Look, based on what you can see, what are the
- 38:13Speaker 2: industries where displacement is occurring at the fastest rate.
- 38:18Speaker 6: Certainly a lot of the technology companies are utilizing AI themselves,
- 38:23Speaker 6: and especially in a lot of this white collar work,
- 38:25Speaker 6: whether it's administration or sort of operations. You're seeing, you know,
- 38:29Speaker 6: a lot of the white collar jobs actually being some
- 38:32Speaker 6: of the first to be automated. But the thing that
- 38:34Speaker 6: the industry that got hit already the hardest right now
- 38:37Speaker 6: is kind of the software engineering side of things as well,
- 38:40Speaker 6: because now something like ninety percent of coding is being
- 38:43Speaker 6: done by AI. So we're seeing that happening. We're seeing
- 38:46Speaker 6: white collar getting hit, and a lot of these companies
- 38:49Speaker 6: are saying openly you know, they think a lot of
- 38:50Speaker 6: the consulting world, accounting, you know, even eventually paralegals and lawyers,
- 38:56Speaker 6: especially young lawyers, are going to face hiring freezers. They're
- 39:00Speaker 6: going to face a very very difficult situation in terms
- 39:03Speaker 6: of getting a new getting a job. And so I
- 39:05Speaker 6: think a lot of entry level work is at risk,
- 39:07Speaker 6: and that's what we're seeing kind of now. But I
- 39:09Speaker 6: think we're going to see massive job losses this year,
- 39:12Speaker 6: and it's going to be due mostly to AI. Some
- 39:15Speaker 6: companies are hiding that fact, other people are actually saying
- 39:18Speaker 6: it openly, and it's very hard to track. But we
- 39:20Speaker 6: have a methodology that attempts to get as close to
- 39:23Speaker 6: the truth as we can on that.
- 39:25Speaker 2: The last thing I wanted to ask you about is
- 39:27Speaker 2: you've had, you know, a crazy amount of AI already
- 39:30Speaker 2: destabilizing reality. All you need to do is go on
- 39:33Speaker 2: Twitter and try to figure out what the hell is
- 39:34Speaker 2: real and what the hell is false, and try to
- 39:36Speaker 2: program a show by the way, and figure out you know,
- 39:38Speaker 2: sort from fiction.
- 39:39Speaker 4: It has never been more difficult.
- 39:41Speaker 2: And you have you know, the probably the two biggest
- 39:44Speaker 2: examples of this is you had all these We put
- 39:47Speaker 2: F two up on the screen, all these rumors that
- 39:49Speaker 2: bibnet Yahoo had been killed, and everybody was analyzing this
- 39:54Speaker 2: video in particular, but other ones as well. This was
- 39:57Speaker 2: a video he put out explicitly to say, guys, I'm alive. Here,
- 40:01Speaker 2: I am getting coffee. And you know, even with this,
- 40:04Speaker 2: there were all sorts of like anomalies where people looking
- 40:06Speaker 2: at this and.
- 40:07Speaker 4: Going no, no, no, this is AI.
- 40:09Speaker 2: You had Trump talking about how the new Ayahtola Muhtaba
- 40:13Speaker 2: that he's not sure he's alive. And you know, so
- 40:17Speaker 2: far we haven't seen any images or video of him.
- 40:20Speaker 2: There just been statements that are put out. So there's
- 40:22Speaker 2: a theory that you know, and some of the images
- 40:23Speaker 2: that have been put out of him have actually been
- 40:26Speaker 2: AI enhanced.
- 40:27Speaker 4: You know.
- 40:28Speaker 2: The other theory is just that he is in hiding
- 40:30Speaker 2: because he would be assassinated likely if there was any
- 40:33Speaker 2: ability to tell his location. But in any case, I
- 40:36Speaker 2: just love for you to speak to that, you know,
- 40:38Speaker 2: social impact of the way that already reality has been
- 40:42Speaker 2: completely destabilized by this technology, and no one seems to
- 40:45Speaker 2: be grappling. Our lawmakers do not seem to be grappling
- 40:48Speaker 2: with what that means and how to get this under
- 40:51Speaker 2: control so that we don't you know, get into this
- 40:54Speaker 2: like totally postmodern world where literally you can invent your
- 40:58Speaker 2: own reality, believe whatever you want to believe.
- 41:01Speaker 6: It's a really big problem. Now it's going to get worse.
- 41:03Speaker 6: You're going to see it more and more in political
- 41:05Speaker 6: ads and the midterms this year. The you know, the
- 41:08Speaker 6: words disinformation and misinformation get thrown around a lot. They've
- 41:11Speaker 6: become very politicized, but they do have a real meaning.
- 41:15Speaker 6: And misinformation, you know, just things that are untrue that
- 41:18Speaker 6: people are spreading, sometimes not by their own volition, they're
- 41:22Speaker 6: just it's information that's out there that someone heard or
- 41:24Speaker 6: made up or you know, maybe they made a funny video.
- 41:26Speaker 6: They weren't intending to mislead anyone, but that's happening.
- 41:29Speaker 1: And then there's.
- 41:30Speaker 6: Disinformation coming from governments, coming from political actors, coming from
- 41:34Speaker 6: political parties and figures, and that's you know, information that's
- 41:37Speaker 6: knowingly false, meant to mislead people. So lying about someone
- 41:40Speaker 6: being dead, for example, and then creating a video or
- 41:44Speaker 6: creating content to share to get people to spread that information,
- 41:47Speaker 6: that's disinformation. Those are both big problems. They're going to
- 41:51Speaker 6: get worse, and I think the best advice that I
- 41:53Speaker 6: have to people is to really be skeptical and really
- 41:55Speaker 6: check your sources and figure out who are the journalists
- 41:58Speaker 6: and who are the thought leaders that you trust to
- 42:01Speaker 6: tell you the truth. That's going to become more important
- 42:04Speaker 6: than ever. You know people that you know that have
- 42:07Speaker 6: charactered integrity, that will at least give you their best
- 42:10Speaker 6: analysis and their best information that they have. That's what
- 42:13Speaker 6: you're going to have to rely on, because looking at
- 42:15Speaker 6: random accounts on the Internet is going to get worse
- 42:18Speaker 6: and worse in terms of trying to get good and
- 42:20Speaker 6: accurate information. And so AI is just going to make
- 42:23Speaker 6: this so much more difficult. And state actors and non
- 42:26Speaker 6: state actors are participating it, so we have a lot to.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Be worried about.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Brennan, thank you so much for joining us. Man, appreciate you.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Thank you, Thank you guys so much for watching. We
- 42:35Speaker 3: appreciate it. Great Wednesday show for everybody. Tomorrow, I think
- 42:37Speaker 3: Ryan's going to detail his Cuban travels that like to
- 42:41Speaker 3: say about that.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right, all right, they will see you all then,
