- Brandon: Well, good morning, good afternoon, good evening, wherever and whenever you are listening to this. And welcome once again to the Daily Word podcast. My name is Brandon, and I am one of the pastors here at our church. And like we do every single day, we're taking time today to simply look at a passage of scripture. And I'm gonna share with you my insight from the passage today. every day we use the Life Journal Reading Plan as the reading plan for our church. And we're taking the New Testament reading from that day and simply sharing it as a way of encouraging you, number one, but number two, reminding you to go spend time with God. I do a Bible reading and journaling group every Tuesday morning. By the way, if you're a guy, you're a dude in the Fort Mill TK area or Rock Hill area, that's that's where I live, or anywhere close, I guess. Knowledge Perk TGK shout out. six forty-five every Tuesday morning we meet, we do our Bible reading, we do our journaling together. And we read, we journal, we pray, we talk about it. It's awesome. And you're invited. But I say that because we do that in about 20 minutes. We take 10 minutes to read the New Testament, 10 minutes to write, and then we share. And I'm always encouraging the guys, hey, we took 20 minutes. Go 25 max. You have 25 minutes. And even if you only have 25 minutes in your day, that's that's less than a Netflix show. less than a less than an old school sitcom 30-minute show. You have 25 minutes. And so start spending time with God. Make make the 25 minutes, carve it out. I promise you, reading your Bible, asking God to speak to you, writing it down. It's gonna change your life. That being said, today is October the second and our New Testament reading today is Luke chapter 15. And I've never done this on the Daily Word podcast, but my scripture that I'm choosing Is Luke chapter 15, verse 1, all the way through verse 32. I do not have time on the podcast to read to you 32 verses, but I journaled on. I'm I'm capturing the whole chapter. Brandon, how in the world are you capturing the entire chapter? Well, Luke chapter 15, it really is three different parables that Jesus tells, but they're three different parables that all essentially say the same thing. or should I say they point to the same thing. Luke 15, verse 1 through verse 7, it's the parable of the lost sheep. And Jesus tells this parable about a shepherd who has a hundred sheep. And 99 are safe, but one of them strays, one of them wonders. And Jesus says, what what man of you, this is verse verse four, having a hundred sheep if you lost one of them, doesn't leave the ninety-nine sheep. In the open country and go after the one that is lost until he finds it. He's telling a parable about a sheep that gets lost and a shepherd that leaves the 99 to go after the one. The next parable is verses 8 through 10, and it's the parable of the lost coin. It's this woman, she has ten silver coins and she loses one of them. And and Jesus says this. which one of you wouldn't light a lamp and sweep the house and search diligently until you find that lost coin? He he's he's painting a picture of this woman, she loses one of her coins and she searches the house diligently until she finds it. Then the next parable, this is verse eleven, all the way through verse thirty two, it's a little bit longer, but it's the story or the parable of the prodigal son. And essentially it's a son. Who takes all of his the inheritance, he gets it early, and he goes and he squanders it. The Bible says on sinful living. think about a a 17, 18-year-old taking all of the inheritance from the family and going to Vegas. And after months in Vegas, spending all of his money on sinful, immoral living, he's out of money, he's down a dark hole, and he realizes I need, I, I, I, I need to go back home. And he goes back home, and what he's expecting is his dad to shame him, barely welcome him in. How could you, how dare you? And what he finds is his father is waiting for him, sees him from a long distance, runs to find him, and and welcomes him back into the family. These three parables, they all speak to this reality that our God so loves us. Us. He so loves humanity. He so loves people. That Jesus He came. One scripture says this, Jesus says, I came to seek and save that which was lost. the parable of the lost sheep points to this fact that we're all God's sheep. Psalm 23 would show us that we're the sheep of his pasture. John 10:10, we're the sheep of his pasture, and like that one sheep that went away. We too stray and we too go our own way, and yet the shepherd that is Jesus, he leaves the 99 to come find us. Parable of the lost coin points to you and I, how we are the the ones created in the image of God. You know, a coin would have the inscription, the image of the the ruler of that day. Well, all of us we've been created in the image of God. Well we we have the inscription, the image of God written all over us. And this parable points to the fact that we who bear the image of God, we get lost sometimes. And Jesus sweeps the house. He searches diligently, he goes after us until we are found. Parable of the prodigal son points to the fact that all of us, we we we We we have a way of of wandering, going, living our own way, and yet God welcomes us back. Luke 15 in entirety points to this reality that Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost, that God loves humanity and he wants us to be saved. He wants us to be found. Through his spirit, he continues to go after us and call out to us and knock on the door of our heart, the book of Revelation says. And so my My insight today, one, is that I am loved by God and that God is after me in every season of life. Can I tell you this morning you are loved by God and God is after you in every season of life? But also it's a reminder to me that God loves people. And I've been called to be on a a mission with him. It's the great co mission. And because God loves people, God wants to use me to seek after. Those who were lost. It made made me wonder this morning, how many people do I know in my life that are lost that I've given up on? I I can think of people, I can think of family members, I can think of friends, I can think of people that I know who've walked away from the faith, and I'm like, well, guess they're, guess they're gone. But that's not the heart of our God. No, he leaves the 99. He says, I know I got nine coins, but I'm gonna sweep the house diligently till I find this one coin. I'm going after the lost sheep. I'm here ready to welcome back my son who returns. And it's a reminder to me to be about my father's business today and to go after people who are lost and who are in need of someone bringing them back into the family of God. So my encouragement to you today, my application number one. Is to know that I'm loved by God. You today know that you are loved by God. And if you are a lost sheep in any area of your life, today, call out to God, receive from God forgiveness, reconciliation, and know He's welcoming you back with open arms. But maybe you're not lost, and today a reminder for you would be: go after those who are lost. Hey, be a part of the great co-mission and like the shepherd, leave the 99 and go after the one. S sweep the house, search diligently, go after the the coin who who is lost. Be ready to welcome people back into God's family with open arms because God doesn't just want us to be saved, He wants the world to be saved. I hope today this has been encouraging to you. I hope this is a reminder of the mission and the heart of our God. And I hope today that you're able to apply it to your life. Can I pray for you? God, today I'm praying for everyone who is listening. And I pray in the name of Jesus that you would help us to know that we're loved by you. You help us to know that you always welcome us back no matter where we are. And I pray that you would you would use us and you would cause us to be inspired and to have passion for going after those who are lost sheep, lost coins, and lost sons and daughters of God. We thank you for it today in Jesus' name. Amen. Hey, today I hope that you were blessed by God's word. Don't forget to like, subscribe, and share this podcast.
