Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Welcome to the Become who you Are podcast, a production of the John Paul II Renewal Center.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'm Jack Riggert, your host.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I'm so glad that you're with me.
- 0:16Speaker 1: It all started with a reply that I sent on X.
- 0:22Speaker 1: So, sash, and Jose, who does some incredible posts on X it's the only social media that I'm on.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I actually didn't come back too long ago it was sometime after Elon bought it.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I just got tired of social media the Facebook, the Instagram.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I just got off of it.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I got off of everything and I did go back to X because some people that I know that really speak the truth some doctors, some evangelists, all kinds of different people, politicians you see, people are still searching for the truth and they're speaking the truth and they have courage and fortitude and they're bringing this message and you see, wow, the weeds and the wheat are really separating.
- 1:06Speaker 1: It's amazing stuff.
- 1:07Speaker 1: So every once in a while, I go on there.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Shashan posted this, he said.
- 1:13Speaker 1: English comedian and actor Russell Brand, who you may know, who has millions of followers on social media, announced that he would be getting baptized this Sunday after posting a video citing the rosary and encouraging people to do the same last week.
- 1:28Speaker 1: It was an incredible post really.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I knew Russell Brand.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I listened to him on a fairly regular basis.
- 1:35Speaker 1: He's a very interesting, articulate man and you could tell in his heart he's seeking for the truth.
- 1:41Speaker 1: He was into all kinds of different things.
- 1:43Speaker 1: First he was addicted, and he was a drug addict, an alcoholic, a porn addict.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I mean he, you know, he's been sober for 16, 17, 18 years, something like that.
- 1:51Speaker 1: And through the 12 step he's really opened himself up to this higher power and he's searching for it.
- 1:56Speaker 1: And then, when I saw him bring out the rosary, and then now he's getting baptized you know, I don't know much more about it than that, except that I have him in my prayers for sure the rosary is going to change his heart.
- 2:10Speaker 1: If he keeps going with the rosary, it's going to change his heart and it's going to, sooner or later, I would imagine, point him strictly at her son, at our blessed Mary, our blessed mother's son, and that'll bring him right into the Eucharist.
- 2:24Speaker 1: And that's what I want to talk about today.
- 2:26Speaker 1: So what I posted as a reply?
- 2:28Speaker 1: Just a simple reply.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It got a lot of views and I was just looking at it.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I said you know what was it?
- 2:35Speaker 1: It's pretty simple really.
- 2:36Speaker 1: And then you think maybe not so simple.
- 2:38Speaker 1: And I just wrote back after Shashen's post and I said and now for some good news.
- 2:44Speaker 1: In the midst of chaos, it's a reminder that God is at work in us if we are truth seekers.
- 2:50Speaker 1: And then I added I also heard that there's a record number of baptisms in France this year.
- 2:56Speaker 1: So this year at Easter can you imagine this 12,000 people, adults and adolescents, were baptized this year a record.
- 3:04Speaker 1: So what is going on in the midst of this craziness?
- 3:07Speaker 1: Huh, that's what I want to unpack today Buckle up and get ready for today's episode.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I got an email sometime after that, as I was thinking about this podcast today, and it was an email from a friend of mine who I had sent an email to earlier and didn't get back to me, which is no big deal, but she said sorry for the delay, we're very excited to listen to a podcast.
- 3:39Speaker 1: So I told her that I was going to have Bishop Athanasius Schneider on in the future.
- 3:44Speaker 1: It won't be for a little while yet, but it's scheduled and she said oh, that's great news.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Blah, blah, blah she goes.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I've been really crazy this week getting ready for my son's First Communion.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Please pray for him.
- 3:55Speaker 1: What a special day.
- 3:57Speaker 1: My husband kept telling him that it's the most important day of his life, but I countered that his baptism was what do you think?
- 4:07Speaker 1: And so I wrote back to her and I'm thinking, you know how to say this quickly.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Look, I was busy and I just thought, well, I want to get back to her with something.
- 4:15Speaker 1: And so I wanted to kind of keep her son in mind and still give the bigger picture.
- 4:20Speaker 1: So I said have your son stand in front of the large divine mercy picture at your parish.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And I know that.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Have your son stand in front of the large divine mercy picture at your parish.
- 4:27Speaker 1: And I know that parish very well, I used to belong to it.
- 4:30Speaker 1: And so they have a huge picture, a beautiful picture of the divine mercy and with Christ there.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And of course, what I said to her then was while he's standing there, what does he see?
- 4:42Speaker 1: Ask him, what does he see coming from the pierced heart of Christ?
- 4:45Speaker 1: And of course we saw.
- 4:47Speaker 1: We see water and blood.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Water is baptism.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Tell him forgiveness of original sin, where you're going to receive grace, like getting washed up, like taking a nuptial bath.
- 4:58Speaker 1: You know when he was baptized as a baby, remind him that he was baptized in white.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Why?
- 5:02Speaker 1: To get ready for a wedding feast?
- 5:04Speaker 1: Intimacy with God, intimacy with Jesus Christ.
- 5:08Speaker 1: This is a wedding.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Your son, having become a child of God in baptism, is clothed with the wedding garment and is admitted.
- 5:15Speaker 1: This is the water that's coming out of the side of Christ, right?
- 5:18Speaker 1: What is that water?
- 5:19Speaker 1: Again, it's baptism, it's confession, reconciliation, it's washing of our sins.
- 5:24Speaker 1: We put our wedding garment on, you know, and we're getting ready for what?
- 5:27Speaker 1: For union and communion, intimacy with God.
- 5:30Speaker 1: And so now he's admitted to the marriage supper of the Lamb, literally in union and communion with Jesus.
- 5:37Speaker 1: The eternal bridegroom, this is what he's going to be receiving in first Holy Communion.
- 5:41Speaker 1: So I told her, I reminded her about our friend's daughter who's getting married today.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So I said tell your son, she'll be all cleaned up, She'll be putting on white, a white dress, and she'll be walking up the aisle to meet her soon-to-be husband in a what?
- 5:59Speaker 1: In a white wedding gown, to exchange their wedding vows and be joined to her new husband before Jesus, who they can look.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Right behind them is on a huge crucifix and there he's pouring himself out to them.
- 6:12Speaker 1: And then what they do is they look up and they receive this.
- 6:16Speaker 1: This is what we're receiving the sacraments.
- 6:18Speaker 1: And then, filled with divine life and love, those two getting married.
- 6:21Speaker 1: They enter into a sacramental sign together that, when all the smoke and fog clears, points directly to the Eucharist and God's desire to be one with us.
- 6:31Speaker 1: This is the love that they pour into one another.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Without that love of Jesus Christ, that spiritual, sacramental but very real holy communion to be filled with divine life and love and then give this to each other, without that love, their love will fade in time.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Marriage itself, where the two people become one, one flesh and you know, you don't have to tell your child this right now, you'll be stunning him, right, but think about that.
- 7:00Speaker 1: The marital act where the two become one, open to life, become three.
- 7:03Speaker 1: There's a time, a moment in time, where the two become one, open to life, become three.
- 7:04Speaker 1: There's a time, a moment in time, where the two husband and wife actually, literally, physically, become one, right in the marital act and open to life, boom, an explosion of love that could turn into a third, right.
- 7:18Speaker 1: We have three persons in one your husband, you and your son, for example, a tiny, created reflection of the love of the Trinity as a child.
- 7:29Speaker 1: This begins today.
- 7:30Speaker 1: They'll tell him being filled with divine life and love, and then he becomes a sign of God's love in the world.
- 7:36Speaker 1: How does he do this?
- 7:37Speaker 1: By first loving his family, his parents, and then his neighbors.
- 7:42Speaker 1: This isn't brain surgery, is it?
- 7:44Speaker 1: It's just the one great commandment in two parts that Jesus talked about intimately linked together.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Love God, be filled with divine life and love, and then turn around and love your neighbor, to love as God loves.
- 7:55Speaker 1: How much does God love your son?
- 7:58Speaker 1: Tell your little boy right, this is my body, this is my blood.
- 8:04Speaker 1: A new covenant.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Think marriage.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Whenever you hear covenant in the Old Testament, think marriage.
- 8:10Speaker 1: This is beyond some legal document.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Right, this is a covenant.
- 8:13Speaker 1: It's saying yes to each other.
- 8:15Speaker 1: This is your wedding vows given for you.
- 8:18Speaker 1: This is my body given for you.
- 8:20Speaker 1: This is the Eucharist.
- 8:22Speaker 1: This is the Eucharist.
- 8:23Speaker 1: So baptism, the water that's flowing out is again getting us ready for the nuptial bath and the Eucharist, where you and God, you and Jesus Christ, are intimately linked in the one flesh union of the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ himself.
- 8:41Speaker 1: And so this you explained it in your own words.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I told her, but give her.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Just some ideas there, right?
- 8:48Speaker 1: And so what's happening here?
- 8:51Speaker 1: And then again, when we look back at these people coming back into the church Russell Brand with his rosary and baptism.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Candace Owens is coming into the Catholic church, tammy Peterson, jordan I should say Tammy Peterson, right, jordan Peterson's wife, so many other ones 12,000 people coming into the church just in France alone.
- 9:11Speaker 1: You think France has lost their faith, right?
- 9:14Speaker 1: How could this be?
- 9:14Speaker 1: How could this be?
- 9:15Speaker 1: We have here in this country too, and in France too, we have some of the most morally reprehensible governments that ever existed in Western civilization, you know, with pushing abortion and these gender ideologies, and just one thing after I mean, the corruption is incredible.
- 9:33Speaker 1: So how can we have hope?
- 9:35Speaker 1: We have much of the same thing going on at the Vatican being pushed, all this stuff being pushed down and twisted and distorting our faith from the very Vatican.
- 9:44Speaker 1: So how could this be?
- 9:45Speaker 1: How could we have hope?
- 9:46Speaker 1: How could people coming into the church?
- 9:49Speaker 1: How come so many people can sense the evil around them right now and be drawn to the Catholic church?
- 9:56Speaker 1: What is that?
- 9:58Speaker 1: Huh, because Jesus Christ is the head.
- 10:00Speaker 1: We sense this, we sense this, we sense the evil around us first and we start to grope and we start to grasp.
- 10:08Speaker 1: You know what is the truth?
- 10:09Speaker 1: Why is there so much evil?
- 10:11Speaker 1: We sense this.
- 10:12Speaker 1: If you're seeking the truth, you sense something happening and these people are entering the narrow gate, becoming one with Jesus Christ.
- 10:21Speaker 1: It's the bridegroom, he's the head and we're his bride, his body.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Why the Catholic Church?
- 10:27Speaker 1: Because of the Eucharist.
- 10:29Speaker 1: It all changes.
- 10:30Speaker 1: It changes our hearts, it changes our lives.
- 10:34Speaker 1: It's amazing when you open a smaller story of your life to the transformational power of connection, these two great commandments, it changes everything.
- 10:46Speaker 1: The Catechism of the Catholic Church you know the big book about everything Catholic begins part one, section one, chapter one, with what Desire Desire, and it speaks of the heart.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Beginning the Catholic handbook with desire would not surprise the great saints and the mystics who passionately journeyed into the heart of God, knowing that what this is?
- 11:05Speaker 1: A love story.
- 11:07Speaker 1: It's always been a love story.
- 11:08Speaker 1: The desire for God is written in the human heart because man is created, and this is man and woman.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Man is created by God, in love and for love, and God never ceases to draw man to himself.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Only in God will he find the truth and happiness he never stops searching for.
- 11:28Speaker 1: This is why people are coming into the church, right.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Granted, it may be difficult, when looking up at a crucifix right, to see Jesus on the cross, to believe that the bleeding and tormented body and the heart that's bleeding water and blood of Jesus Christ hanging there portrays a love story.
- 11:48Speaker 1: But that's exactly the reality.
- 11:50Speaker 1: This is the God who takes on a body, unites it with divinity and says and I pour this out to you, this is my body, given for you.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I will take everything upon myself and just not only show mercy but pour myself out so your sins are forgiven and you can be united to me, as it was in the beginning, before sin.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Not only given, but given how?
- 12:12Speaker 1: To you?
- 12:13Speaker 1: And not only given to you but given to the last drop until death, death on a cross.
- 12:20Speaker 1: In John 15, we read no greater love.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Jesus said in the gospel than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Then, with his mother, mary, st John and a few others, including Mary Magdalene, who were looking up at the cross as he was dying, all beneath the cross, knowing now that it's almost finished, he said I thirst, can you imagine, jesus, if you were there kneeling with them?
- 12:47Speaker 1: I thirst, imagine that you hear these words as you look up at him taking his last breath I thirst, I thirst for you, I give up my life for you.
- 12:57Speaker 1: And then he said and now it's finished, I poured it all out for you.
- 13:02Speaker 1: It's consummated, consummated.
- 13:04Speaker 1: The marriage of the lamb is consummated there and what pours out the body, what pours out of his heart, is the water and the blood.
- 13:14Speaker 1: This is what nourishes the church, right, baptism and the Eucharist.
- 13:20Speaker 1: A little while later, right when that Roman centurion, following orders, would come up and he thrust that lance to his heart and this would come water and blood.
- 13:29Speaker 1: This is what you're seeing in the divine mercy.
- 13:33Speaker 1: This is what a Sister Faustina was told to bring into the world.
- 13:38Speaker 1: And so where do we see all these twisted and distorted ideologies?
- 13:41Speaker 1: They're attacking that, the marriage of the Lamb, who calls us into an intimate union and community with us.
- 13:47Speaker 1: And why is what's happening to marriages and the family today being twisted and distorted so much?
- 13:53Speaker 1: Because that is the sign of the intimate union of the Trinity itself and it's a sign of what type of intimacy God wants with us when the two become one, become three, reflecting as a tiny little creative, sacramental sign of the inner life of the Trinity, three persons in one, and this is why it's so important.
- 14:14Speaker 1: So make no mistake about it.
- 14:16Speaker 1: We're in a spiritual battle that Sister Lucia, the main visionary of Fatima, clearly defined in her letter to Cardinal Kofara and John Paul II when she wrote the final battle and this is what we're in today the final battle between the Lord and the kingdom of Satan will be over marriage and the family.
- 14:33Speaker 1: But then she added do not be afraid, because whoever works for the sanctity of marriage and the family will always be fought against and opposed in every way, because this is the decisive issue.
- 14:45Speaker 1: And you say well, what do you mean?
- 14:46Speaker 1: Don't be afraid, because whoever works for the sanctity of marriage and the family is going to be fought and opposed.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Well, we know this from the John Paul II Renewal Center.
- 14:55Speaker 1: We feel this.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I mean there's definitely war.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Well, why not be afraid?
- 14:59Speaker 1: Because, she said, our lady has already crushed his head.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Jesus has already redeemed us.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Jesus already, we already won the battle.
- 15:09Speaker 1: All we have to do is receive it.
- 15:11Speaker 1: We go through this life that we have here in temporal time it's passing very, very quickly, right, and we step into the union and communion.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Well, where do we do this today?
- 15:22Speaker 1: We don't have to wait till tomorrow.
- 15:23Speaker 1: You know, eternity doesn't mean tomorrow, eternity means forever.
- 15:26Speaker 1: This is what happens at the mass.
- 15:28Speaker 1: This is why we're drawn to it.
- 15:30Speaker 1: So this is the bridegroom, the redeemer of man hanging there.
- 15:33Speaker 1: You know, original sin and death had entered the garden.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Remember, right, this goes all the way back to Adam and Eve.
- 15:38Speaker 1: In the garden, the entrance of shame indicated a radical change.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Remember, they put loincloths on and they hid from God, and that shame had entered.
- 15:47Speaker 1: We started to look at each other in lust and selfishness and you already saw this, this radical change in our first parents, with this experience, even in their body, in their hearts.
- 15:59Speaker 1: They put loincloths on.
- 16:01Speaker 1: What did they cover?
- 16:02Speaker 1: They didn't cover their eyes or their ears, they covered their sexual organs.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Why?
- 16:07Speaker 1: Because this is where the two become one.
- 16:08Speaker 1: See, this was the beauty of this in the beginning, before sin.
- 16:12Speaker 1: So that indicates a loss of grace and holiness.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Original man before sin gives way to what's called historical man, who is here after the fall right.
- 16:23Speaker 1: We all came into this story this is so important for us to remember that we came into a broken world, we came into a sinful world, but the Redeemer was already there.
- 16:32Speaker 1: So we get a chance.
- 16:33Speaker 1: So this is what's so exciting, so this is what's the good news right now.
- 16:39Speaker 1: So this is why I said and now for some good news.
- 16:42Speaker 1: In the midst of chaos, god is at work in these people, right?
- 16:45Speaker 1: He's bringing them back into his heart.
- 16:48Speaker 1: He's saying no, no, no, no.
- 16:49Speaker 1: You don't have to go for lust and selfishness and twisting and distortion.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Come to me right Today, the world has normalized the fall and the human body in its masculinity and femininity.
- 17:02Speaker 1: It has almost lost the power our bodies have, our body and soul, in expressing this love in which the human person becomes a gift in conformity with the deepest structure and finality of his or her personal existence, of his or her personal existence.
- 17:18Speaker 1: The heart has become a battlefield between love and lust, love and concupiscence.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Remember the threefold concupiscence that St John talked about.
- 17:30Speaker 1: This is the whole battle.
- 17:31Speaker 1: It comes down to your and my individual heart.
- 17:32Speaker 1: See, this is some very good news because, when you look around the world, our main job, our main, the beauty of this and our hope, because it all comes down to the individual human heart.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Remember what I said Jesus came for you.
- 17:45Speaker 1: He wants to change one heart at a time and you can do this, I can do this but the more concupiscence dominates the heart, the less the heart experiences the spousal meaning of the body, which is to be a gift to one another.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Those two great commandments again receive love and be loved.
- 18:01Speaker 1: If you walk away from God, the less sensitive it becomes to this gift of the person that expresses precisely this meaning in the reciprocal relations of man and woman.
- 18:12Speaker 1: So what does that mean?
- 18:13Speaker 1: I mean, as we walk away from God, we no longer understand marriage, we no longer understand the child that comes out of it, that two become one, become three.
- 18:23Speaker 1: You know just as a little bit of a side.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I was talking some time ago about Israel and the United States and how they had legislated laws now, legislated laws.
- 18:35Speaker 1: See, there's a difference between someone that falls right we're all fallen, we're all sinful people but when a country, when a nation legislates its laws to promote abortion and these gender ideologies, now it's gone and put it into your nation as a law.
- 18:52Speaker 1: In other words, you've taken God out, you've taken the commandments out, the Ten Commandments.
- 18:57Speaker 1: You've taken our moral, ethical base out and you've replaced it with lies.
- 19:04Speaker 1: And this is exactly what's happening today.
- 19:07Speaker 1: So when we were talking about nations at wars and stuff, I said and again, I'm not a genius, I'm just following the teaching of the church and John Paul but many they came before him to say you know, we're in a broken world.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Why are we doing this?
- 19:21Speaker 1: You know, think about that.
- 19:23Speaker 1: You know we've allowed evil to come right into our own hearts to the point where we'll take out a baby.
- 19:29Speaker 1: You know Mother Teresa who said isn't it a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you can live as you wish?
- 19:36Speaker 1: See, jesus on the cross is the opposite giving his life for all of us, pouring it out in a disinterested way.
- 19:44Speaker 1: And what is disinterested?
- 19:45Speaker 1: He's pouring it out without being interested in getting anything back from you.
- 19:49Speaker 1: He loves you because he is that person of love and you were created in love, by love and for love.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Right, jesus on the cross and God the Father, the Holy Spirit, doesn't love you because you're good.
- 20:02Speaker 1: He loves you because you're a human person that he wants in.
- 20:06Speaker 1: You know he'll leave 99 sheep behind and go for you.
- 20:10Speaker 1: He wants the intimacy with you.
- 20:11Speaker 1: That's almost too good to be true, but that's the very logic of Christianity and that's the very logic of that pierced heart, baptism and the Eucharist.
- 20:21Speaker 1: In John, chapter 1, it talks about this.
- 20:25Speaker 1: This is John, chapter 1, no 1.
- 20:28Speaker 1: John, I'm sorry in the first letter of John, chapter 2, verse 15, and he's talking about overcoming evil with good and then, following that, he says so do not love the world or the things of the world.
- 20:40Speaker 1: If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him.
- 20:44Speaker 1: And we're talking, of course, about this fallen, sinful world, for all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world.
- 20:57Speaker 1: And the world passes away and the lust of it, but he who does the will of God abides forever.
- 21:03Speaker 1: That's the threefold concupiscence, isn't it true?
- 21:06Speaker 1: When we come up and we accept these ideologies?
- 21:10Speaker 1: You know it's pride, you know it's I want to take, I'm proud.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I'll be like God.
- 21:17Speaker 1: This is from Genesis 3.
- 21:18Speaker 1: I'll be like God.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I won't die, right, I'll decide what's evil and what's good.
- 21:23Speaker 1: This is what we're seeing in the world.
- 21:24Speaker 1: And then that comes down to sex, right?
- 21:27Speaker 1: You know twisting and distorting of our sexuality.
- 21:30Speaker 1: We'll kill a child just to have sex and why?
- 21:35Speaker 1: Because of this contraceptive mentality where the two become one, are no longer open to the third.
- 21:41Speaker 1: So we say okay.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Well, if it's not open to new life, if it's not open to bonding, then it doesn't matter who you marry or what happens.
- 21:48Speaker 1: You can see the distortion, the twisting, and now any kind of marriage and marriage is meaningless.
- 21:53Speaker 1: We've attacked the eternal sign, the primordial sacrament that reflects God in the world.
- 22:00Speaker 1: You know, it's amazing.
- 22:01Speaker 1: So humanity has lost the vision of the heights from which they've fallen.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Jesus answers in the beginning.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Remember, in the beginning it was not so.
- 22:10Speaker 1: In the Sermon on the Mount he goes further to challenge the crowd that was in front of him and us.
- 22:16Speaker 1: You have heard it said you shall not commit adultery.
- 22:20Speaker 1: This is the sixth commandment, right?
- 22:22Speaker 1: But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
- 22:28Speaker 1: See, jesus always wants your heart.
- 22:31Speaker 1: He says you have to untwist it, because if your heart's full of lust you will abort a child that comes out of that union.
- 22:38Speaker 1: You know you will have sex with anything and anybody, right?
- 22:42Speaker 1: It just becomes this lustful thing.
- 22:44Speaker 1: And if somebody says no, there's a commandment out there.
- 22:47Speaker 1: God loves you.
- 22:48Speaker 1: There's a reason behind this.
- 22:49Speaker 1: No, no, no, I'm too proud.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Think about it.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Pride parades, I got the pride flag.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I mean all of this stuff right?
- 22:56Speaker 1: I mean these are all signs.
- 23:00Speaker 1: They're just out in the open.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Now Christ's word sounds severe in this regard.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Right?
- 23:02Speaker 1: So John Paul II says are we to fear the severity of these words, or rather have confidence in their salvific content, in their power?
- 23:11Speaker 1: See, jesus didn't come for sin management.
- 23:14Speaker 1: He came to give us power.
- 23:15Speaker 1: The power lies in the fact that the man who utters them, jesus Christ, is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
- 23:22Speaker 1: This is why these people are coming into the church, our beautiful brothers and sisters.
- 23:27Speaker 1: They see the evil around them.
- 23:29Speaker 1: See, christ didn't die and rise from the dead merely to give us coping mechanisms for sin.
- 23:33Speaker 1: His death and resurrection are efficacious.
- 23:36Speaker 1: They effectively liberate our liberty from the domination of what Of concupiscence.
- 23:43Speaker 1: This means, if we open our bodies and our souls once again to the breath of the Holy Spirit, we can experience a deep and real victory over lust and selfishness and we no longer look to the state as God God is God right and we no longer fall for their ideologies and their laws that are pushing down the death of human beings, and we don't have it just in abortion, we have it in euthanasia.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Now we have the wars, the violence.
- 24:11Speaker 1: All these things break out right Again.
- 24:14Speaker 1: There's good news in all this, because the eternal bridegroom who came for you knows all this already.
- 24:21Speaker 1: So we can rediscover, even in what is erotic.
- 24:25Speaker 1: You know, those erotic desires.
- 24:26Speaker 1: You know, don't push those down and don't indulge them, because God gave us those desires.
- 24:32Speaker 1: In fact, those desires can be like a rocket when they're pointed the right way.
- 24:36Speaker 1: At Jesus Christ on the cross, they can actually, you know, we accept the water and the blood that flows, we unite ourselves with him and we allow those arrows to be fully agape, divine sacrificial love, united with divine love, and then we can actually use that rocket that you know.
- 24:52Speaker 1: We open our hearts this is what the saints and the mystics do to God himself, who comes into us, who purifies our heart.
- 24:59Speaker 1: We can discover, then, what is erotic, that original nuptial meaning of the body.
- 25:04Speaker 1: You know, think nuptials like spousal, coming together in union communion and live it Not, you know, not.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Well, let me say it this way this is liberation, now right, this is liberation from lust, in fact the condition of all life together.
- 25:20Speaker 1: How, in the truth, this is the truth of love.
- 25:24Speaker 1: It's an illusion to think.
- 25:26Speaker 1: John Paul said that we can build a true culture of human life if we do not accept and experience our sexuality and love and the whole of life according to their true meaning and their close interconnection.
- 25:38Speaker 1: John Paul said that in Evangelium Vitae.
- 25:42Speaker 1: It's amazing, number 97, if you wanted to look that up, it's so beautiful, that whole section, the sexual embrace itself.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Think about this.
- 25:49Speaker 1: The sexual embrace is the foundation stone of human life itself.
- 25:54Speaker 1: The family and in turn, culture itself, springs from this embrace.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Can you see why?
- 26:00Speaker 1: When it gets twisted and distorted, like I said, in abortion, same-sex, marriage and these gender ideologies, it's going to affect everything.
- 26:08Speaker 1: In short, as sex goes, so goes marriage and the family.
- 26:12Speaker 1: As marriage and the family goes, there goes civilization.
- 26:15Speaker 1: This is what we're seeing played out today.
- 26:17Speaker 1: It's amazing.
- 26:17Speaker 1: It's no exaggeration to say that the task of the 20th and the early 21st century was to get rid of itself, to rid itself of the Christian sexual ethic.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Isn't that what the sexual revolution did?
- 26:31Speaker 1: And now it'll never stop until somebody stands up and says to Jesus Christ I believe in you, I turn my heart to you.
- 26:39Speaker 1: If we're to build a culture of life, the task before us must be to reclaim life.
- 26:45Speaker 1: This task begins on where, on the battlefield of the individual human heart.
- 26:50Speaker 1: It's a call to join our brothers and sisters, all those coming into the church and those that aren't in the church, to invite them in, to say yes, our personal fiat, it starts with our own heart, our yes to the universal call to holiness.
- 27:03Speaker 1: See, this is good news.
- 27:05Speaker 1: We don't have to wait for anybody else.
- 27:06Speaker 1: We do it ourselves.
- 27:08Speaker 1: We begin by entering the narrow gate that Jesus talked about.
- 27:11Speaker 1: There we pick up our cross and we follow the bridegroom, because we know there's going to be a lot of work in our hearts, don't we?
- 27:18Speaker 1: This is why, in Ephesians 5, st Paul puts these two together the sacrament of marriage and Christ and his church.
- 27:26Speaker 1: He said husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her by the washing listen to this of the water, with the word that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she, the church, the bride of Christ, each one of us, might be holy and without blemish.
- 27:44Speaker 1: St John Paul II called this passage the summa of his entire teaching on the theology of the body.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Make no mistake about it.
- 27:53Speaker 1: When all the smoke and fog clears, man's yearning, burning desire to love and be loved and to join a marital union points directly to the Eucharist and Jesus' desire to become one flesh with us.
- 28:06Speaker 1: This is why evil and we see this twisting and evil coming directly at the attack on marriage and the family, on the child and the womb, and then we render the child sterile and even mutilate their bodies if they escape the womb.
- 28:19Speaker 1: We render marriage meaningless with these gender ideologies that were just insane.
- 28:26Speaker 1: At this point, archbishop Fulton Sheen summarizes the teaching of the saints and the mystics that have come down through the years.
- 28:34Speaker 1: When he says this, now, we've always thought, and rightly so, of Christ, the Son of God, on the cross, and the mother beneath him, our blessed mother, like I just said.
- 28:45Speaker 1: But that's not the complete picture he said, that's not the deep understanding.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Who is our Lord on the cross?
- 28:51Speaker 1: He's the new Adam.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Where's the new Eve?
- 28:54Speaker 1: At the foot of the cross, you see, if Eve became the mother of all the living in the natural order, is not the woman at the foot of the cross to become another mother.
- 29:04Speaker 1: And so the bridegroom looks down at the bride.
- 29:08Speaker 1: He looks at his beloved Christ, looks at the church.
- 29:11Speaker 1: See what does he call his mother now?
- 29:14Speaker 1: He calls her woman.
- 29:15Speaker 1: She is now the symbol open to him to receive the blood and the water right, and this is the beginning of the church.
- 29:23Speaker 1: There is the birth of the church right there.
- 29:26Speaker 1: As St Augustine puts it, and here I'm quoting him verbatim St Augustine, third, fourth century, the heavenly bridegroom left the heavenly chambers.
- 29:35Speaker 1: This is Jesus Christ coming into the world with the presage of the nuptials, the wedding before him.
- 29:42Speaker 1: He came to the marriage bed of the cross, a bed not of pleasure but of pain, united himself with the woman and consummated the union forever, as it were.
- 29:52Speaker 1: The blood and the water that came from the sight of Christ was the spiritual seminal fluid, the spiritual seminal fluid.
- 29:59Speaker 1: So this is the fluid that comes down to, impregnates the church in a spiritual way, right?
- 30:05Speaker 1: So that's why I always say you know, before you look at your phone in the morning, get down and just make your fiat.
- 30:12Speaker 1: You know, imagine yourself kneeling with our blessed mother, and in reality you will be when you invite yourself or ask Mary to be with you there and say, yes, be it done to me according to your word.
- 30:23Speaker 1: And so, from these nuptials, jesus turns to our Blessed Mother and he goes woman, where's your son?
- 30:30Speaker 1: And this is John the Evangelist, who's next to her.
- 30:33Speaker 1: And son, where is your mother?
- 30:36Speaker 1: So you see, this is now the beginning of the church.
- 30:40Speaker 1: It's so beautiful, right?
- 30:41Speaker 1: So Christ gave himself up for her, the church, his bride, that she might be immaculate.
- 30:47Speaker 1: So this is what we're doing.
- 30:49Speaker 1: This is what the Eucharist is all about.
- 30:51Speaker 1: I am going to finish this with just a couple of words from Sister Faustina, who was asked to task, as you know, that divine mercy image that I started with here.
- 31:03Speaker 1: This is the back of her diary, the very back.
- 31:06Speaker 1: It's only seven pages.
- 31:07Speaker 1: It's called Holy Communion.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I'm just going to pick out a couple passages for you.
- 31:12Speaker 1: And it's so beautiful.
- 31:13Speaker 1: And she writes here the most solemn moment of my life is the moment when I receive Holy Communion.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I long for each Holy Communion, and for every Holy Communion I give my thanks to the Holy Trinity.
- 31:25Speaker 1: And then she goes on in another passage this is 1805, if you happen to have the diary Today she says I'm preparing myself for your coming, as a bride does for the coming of her bridegroom.
- 31:38Speaker 1: He is a great Lord, this bridegroom of mine, the heavens cannot contain him.
- 31:42Speaker 1: This great Lord is my bridegroom.
- 31:44Speaker 1: It is to him that the choirs sing.
- 31:47Speaker 1: He is coming and he's already at your door.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I go out to meet him and I invite him to the dwelling place of my heart, humbling myself proudly before his majesty.
- 31:57Speaker 1: But the Lord lifts me up from the dust and invites me, as his bride, to sit next to him and to tell him everything that's on my heart.
- 32:04Speaker 1: And I sit at ease by his kindness, lean my head on his breast and tell him of everything.
- 32:10Speaker 1: In the first place, I tell him things I would never tell any other creature.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Isn't that powerful?
- 32:16Speaker 1: See, we all know in the depths of our heart that nobody really knows us in that depth, not even our spouses, our best friends, only God.
- 32:25Speaker 1: And so this is what happens when we turn in prayer.
- 32:27Speaker 1: So we start on our knees and we open ourselves up to this, and then the temptations come right.
- 32:33Speaker 1: And here we already heard we open those.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Every time a temptation comes, use it as an invitation to prayer.
- 32:42Speaker 1: We know temptations are going to come.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Temptations are not a sin.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Jesus himself was tempted by Satan.
- 32:48Speaker 1: We will all be tempted, especially when we're kneeling there opening ourselves up to Christ.
- 32:52Speaker 1: But every time it comes into our minds, into our hearts, we just open it up.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Here it is, jesus.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Take it.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Take it, take it upon your cross and I will carry my cross and just give this to you.
- 33:02Speaker 1: And then, finally that's the third thing we have to become that person of love.
- 33:06Speaker 1: It's not finished yet until we actually walk out into the world and become persons of love.
- 33:12Speaker 1: And so I finish with Sister Faustina 1808.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Today I invite Jesus to my heart as love.
- 33:21Speaker 1: You are love itself, jesus.
- 33:23Speaker 1: All heaven catches the flame from you and is filled with love, and so my soul covets you.
- 33:30Speaker 1: As a flower yearns for the sun.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Jesus hastened to my heart, for you see that as the flower is eager for the sun, so my heart is eager for you.
- 33:40Speaker 1: I open my heart to receive your love.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Ah, beautiful, thanks for being with me.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Open yourself up to Jesus Christ on the cross.
- 33:51Speaker 1: I mean, the mass is the most spectacular thing you'll ever do.
- 33:54Speaker 1: I see changes in people.
- 33:56Speaker 1: It's amazing.
- 33:57Speaker 1: But don't forget the nuptial bath first.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Always go to confession.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Don't receive the Eucharist with mortal sin.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I mean, it's really like a slap in the face to God, right?
- 34:08Speaker 1: It's like I cheated on him and now I'm going to go make love to him.
- 34:12Speaker 1: It doesn't work that way.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Hey, god bless you.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Thanks for being with me.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Everybody, talk to you soon.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Bye-bye.
