- 1:11is going to be kind of a continuation, a little bit off
- 1:14of last. Episode.
- 1:15Where in I talk about this stanza in the poem voluspa that
- 1:24suggests a alter or Alters the existence of such things in
- 1:31Asgard. And I was reached out to by
- 1:35somebody who wants to go a little bit further into all of
- 1:40this. And I love that idea because,
- 1:43you know, I can only really go so far with Myself on these
- 1:49sorts of things, you know, like it's great to have people that
- 1:53want to come on to a podcast and talk about things where their
- 1:58minds are, you know, circulating about.

- 6:16So anyway, Here we go. Let's get this show started on
- 6:21the topic of the 20th stanza and Beyond the 20th stanza of of the

- 6:32You know, been listening to my podcast at least in the last
- 6:34year, recognize his face from the episode, where him and his
- 6:39wife, Heidi were on here. So, hello and welcome back to
- 6:42you. Roger, and then, we've also got
- 6:44a really awesome guest who I've been chatting with here for
- 6:47about the last 10 or 15. 15 minutes offline.
- 6:50This is Rob who is also Affiliated or Associated into
- 6:54the, in the runestone heathens of Ohio, Facebook group.
- 6:57So, I'm gonna just say hello and welcome to both of you gentlemen
- 7:01and Rob, if you want to just introduce yourself first, and
- 7:05then we'll go to Roger and welcome to the show.
- 7:07Thanks for joining. Thanks for having us, Jesse.
- 7:11I'm Rob, and I've been Heathen for ever.
- 7:17I Live not very far away from Roger, Heidi.
- 7:21And I've been the Goethe of our Kindred for a couple of years
- 7:25now. Awesome.
- 7:28I got to say real quick before we go on.
- 7:30I and I mentioned this to you before and I hope you don't
- 7:32mind. You've got the best like go the
- 7:35aesthetic going on here, I mean, the long silver hair, the the
- 7:39everything you know very wizardly looking, you know guys
- 7:41I'm so for those that are not watching this.
- 7:43If you're just listening to it try to picture try to picture
- 7:47like Gandalf from from Lord of the Rings, if he got rid of
- 7:50their gear and, you know, tried to like Channel, his inner Hulk
- 7:54Hogan, he's got this like, Uncle Flume into men.
- 7:58Silver long, silver, white, you know, just just great.
- 8:02So yeah, I also have a three-legged cat so a
- 8:08three-legged cat. Yeah, that's in.
- 8:10Is my familiar. Okay, gotcha.
- 8:16And then we got Roger over here. Who's yeah.
- 8:19Just awesome guy. He's done a lot of really neat,
- 8:23liar songs and stuff in your rooms.
- 8:26Don't even group and your you tap into that that that bardic
- 8:30sort of scold energy. Yeah, I'm inspired by that.
- 8:35And and yeah, working all my own things spent a lot of time
- 8:40developing the liar skill and I'm getting ready to work some
- 8:43magic To create a white who is going to help me with poetic
- 8:50inspiration. I'm getting the runic
- 8:53inscriptions ready to do and got a white car.
- 8:56So that's taking a little bit of time here recently recently for
- 8:59me. But yeah, Rob is a great.
- 9:03It's been great help on my path. Teaching me.
- 9:05He's been my main go-to person for the most part you know talk
- 9:10to a few other people but I was generally run through Rob first
- 9:13and we Got through runestone. We founded Twin Rivers Kendra a
- 9:18little over a year ago and been going pretty strong.
- 9:22We've got some luck behind us so hopefully it stays that way,
- 9:26that's great to hear. So, yeah, I was, I was talking
- 9:31to you, mainly Robin, then you joined earlier before we
- 9:34started, you know, recording this, you know, Rob here.
- 9:38He's, he was talking earlier about how he's been Heathen, he
- 9:40said forever, I think around the late 80s.
- 9:44There is right and which is I mentioned this to you before but
- 9:50I wanted to share with everybody.
- 9:51You know, it's awesome for me to share company in this way like
- 9:56visit this virtual company with people who have been doing this
- 9:59for as long as I've been alive because generally speaking the
- 10:03audience that I keep have just been with people that have been
- 10:07doing this for as long as me or for less time as me.
- 10:10So I feel like I'm the youngest one out of All of us here.
- 10:14And so it's an honor for me to be in your guys's company.
- 10:19So, I just want to say thank you.
- 10:22You've been here longer than me, Jesse?
- 10:25Okay. All right, I am honored I am
- 10:29honored to be here. It's, I think a mutual honor for
- 10:33all of us. Write this, in the, in that
- 10:36context. I think we've each done.
- 10:38Things that would carry with it. Deeds, that that would bring us.
- 10:44Us honor. All right, I would like to say
- 10:46that much. So, you know, that honor is
- 10:48something that is is recognized, as through through, through
- 10:52living, through doing through action through Deeds.
- 10:55Exactly. Yeah.
- 10:56And I would say that we are all here.
- 10:59Collectively in. Oh, meeting in an honorable way.
- 11:04So we stuff, we're all hard-working pagans, that's for
- 11:08sure. Hmm.
- 11:10How can crawl drinks it at, right?
- 11:13So Rob, you Actually, the reason why we're all here, you know,
- 11:17you robbed, you had reached out to me through Facebook
- 11:21commenting on last week's, podcast about the altars in
- 11:26Asgard or other altars in Asgard in the kind of the conversation
- 11:29that that, that that topics parts.
- 11:33So if you don't mind I'm going to try to just take the backseat
- 11:37here and and what was it about that particular episode that you
- 11:41wanted to reach out to me about and Sure.
- 11:44Our conversation in well less. Yeah, big flush.
- 11:52So Me, Balu specific and I think can be read a couple different
- 12:03ways read. we can read that first as like, The first part is
- 12:18unmistakable hey Deuce Cassie at all.
- 12:20Either valey the a Seer met with themselves hit to
- 12:45yeah, and See I thought that it was and maybe this was just a
- 12:51misinterpretation from from what I had read, I thought it was
- 12:53like field of Deeds or that we're we're Deeds were done with
- 12:57either of old and maybe again I was just off on something else
- 13:00that I misunderstood so you're saying that evil is it is a
- 13:04compound word, right? Isn't it is a compound, the the
- 13:10vole is pretty obvious. The vole is is Valley or
- 13:13something or feel other day or something, right?
- 13:17Yeah. But the the ID that is is from
- 13:22is from a route ID meaning renewal.
- 13:27Okay. So and this is I think put forth
- 13:32by Yonder fries but I would have to double check on that.
- 13:38But so at any rate, the that's not the problem, then he now we
- 13:48have an issue, okay? Um and if you want, I can share
- 13:53some screen. Okay, yeah, let me, let me, let
- 13:56me, I can pop some stuff up here.
- 13:58Yeah, I'm actually going to stop my side because I'm pulling it
- 14:02from voluspa dot-org. And that's an old Norse to
- 14:05English or English Old Norse or something.
- 14:07Yeah, iteration of it. Maybe you've got something
- 14:10better. Something that's going to be
- 14:11easily comparable, the north. Yeah, yeah, I got is ULM right
- 14:18here. If you guys want to talk about
- 14:21it, bored. Give me a second to get my head
- 14:25mask been wired together. Yeah.
- 14:33For all the folks listening and watching this is this is worth
- 14:36it. There it is.
- 14:38Yeah. He took a severe or ew, there's
- 14:44curve of hoof or cough. Awesome brother.
- 14:58I say like I was telling you guys, before everybody.
- 15:00Listen, I was saying, I was like, I'm gonna let, I'm gonna
- 15:02let you guys that have been doing this that have more
- 15:05experience in reciting. Either Old Norse or old sacs and
- 15:08do the speaking because I feel like I'm I'm the kid on training
- 15:11wheels that just is like fumbling about try.
- 15:13Another West's ass. So yeah, I'll let you guys do
- 15:17the reading of the, the old North stuff.
- 15:21You don't mind. Okay.
- 15:22So The one on the left is codex, Regis gks, 2365 corta o.
- 15:40It is the Older of the two. But that means a lot of nothing.
- 15:50The the spelling of hot brew that are there is just a fender
- 15:55yinsen thing. The other version there is the
- 16:01other copy of the loose but that we have from House book, all
- 16:07right. They are different in a ver in
- 16:12very Sentimental way one is there's air hog or korf potent.
- 16:20Brew, do does not exist in House book.
- 16:27I'll smoke as awful supposed to do.
- 16:31I'll say fresh to do. Ah, now what this verse is
- 16:38saying, in-house, smoked is hit to Stasi at all, either Bailey.
- 16:43Why we've got that apples Coast to do almost fresh to do.
- 16:49They tested their strength, their power awful, they tried
- 16:59Fray stuff everything else. All right, and then it goes on
- 17:06normally off the log through Alex Meade to do Congress kopu
- 17:12October. Good.
- 17:13Do they laid forges cars forges? Dave Smith gold, they shaped
- 17:26tongs and they made tools. So, everything, there's the same
- 17:34now. So don't know.
- 17:39Sounds sorry real quick. It almost sounds like that.
- 17:42That, that secondary source makes it sound like it's a field
- 17:48like that. It's a place of work, not a
- 17:51place of worship. I'm awful.
- 18:02I think awful. Were awful is like Megan, you
- 18:06know, it's not me. It's the, the might the or the.
- 18:11Yeah, yeah. It's that kind of like the
- 18:15spiritual power on a thing you know.
- 18:18So I think that's kind of what they're there.
- 18:21What's going on, at least in maybe the house book rendition
- 18:26of. I think what we're dealing with
- 18:27with voluspa. Is we're dealing with like a
- 18:30voluspa tradition, you know, where there's multiple, multiple
- 18:35different versions of this poem, you know, out there, you know,
- 18:40and I think they're there is something to that kind of like
- 18:43the vision of the Cirrus kind of kind of thing, you know, excuse
- 18:53me. But um, So I think we have like
- 19:00variant versions of this poem that we're getting that we are
- 19:05getting, we're getting. We have the the voluspa that's
- 19:08and codex Regis. We have this Volusia.
- 19:12The snorri seems to be largely influenced by and we have the
- 19:19snorri and we have a Volusia that is House book. you know,
- 19:26and I wouldn't argue that there's probably not more and
- 19:29actually loose pants, which is a, yeah, fragment of a voluspa
- 19:35ask, you know, kind of poem that is not well written but you know
- 19:45and it's very fragmentary I'll see you know so but it aerate,
- 19:53what I was getting at with this is The the Codex Regis version.
- 20:01You know, over here. Yeah, the one that says thetis
- 20:05hood or cough. Yeah, that are horde will close
- 20:11awesome. Brew do this, can be reread a
- 20:15couple different ways. We can read this as air horn is
- 20:26because we're having a problem with are.
- 20:29All right? And you don't see it in this
- 20:31because let me get rid of this thinner, Jansen version.
- 20:34Okay? So it's easier to see this Hold
- 20:41on. So the is, which and win is
- 20:46making the interpretation a little difficult with are in
- 20:49this, this next one, you're going to show Well, it's it'll
- 20:55be easier to just see it. There we go.
- 21:05Okay, so there's a there's there's that there's that are
- 21:10ya. See thinner thinner, Jansen caps
- 21:13in. His addition when he did his he
- 21:17he went out of his way to make the edit text look older than an
- 21:24actual then it kind of is mystically.
- 21:28So he kept like suffixing like articles on Ferb.
- 21:35In verbs to there. He is.
- 21:37Yeah, yeah he he did it on purpose.
- 21:43Goods nyantsen. Also did a addition of the
- 21:48poetic Edda and he did the exact opposite of that.
- 21:56He tried to make the text look more modern Icelandic.
- 22:01So that is what we care like manuscript Nations you're
- 22:05talking about, right right right now we can look at this on the
- 22:10manuscript level to be one you know.
- 22:15But how much is it? How much does it change from?
- 22:17There's hold a cough. How much does that change from
- 22:22that to say there are program? It doesn't it just makes it
- 22:27easier to see it. Okay?
- 22:29Cuz cuz So are we is, is, are we?
- 22:36Are we understanding that is heard or cough means a heard,
- 22:40like a herger, like, an actual, like what we would know and
- 22:43Heathen terms, as being this pile of stones that were
- 22:47constructed as a space to, you know, give gifts or you know,
- 22:55benevolence to the to the Divine, Right?
- 22:57Like a Sacred Space. I think it's possible to read it
- 23:00that way, but I think it's also to read it as Referring back to
- 23:03eat the valley itself. You know and referring to it as
- 23:07either Valley itself is a holy pile of rocks.
- 23:11I see so the The Veil The Veil it's or the the valley itself
- 23:16right? The place itself was its own
- 23:19holy place. It's nothing that the gods build
- 23:23it was just that way already. Alright.
- 23:26Interesting animistic kind of concept, right?
- 23:31Cuz yeah. The other part the other part
- 23:34makes perfect sense to as as a sentence in and of itself, they
- 23:39are hot temperature, do Hoth, they high-tempered however you
- 23:45want to translate Health, you know, I mean, people building
- 23:49whatever. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:51Some sort of structure where ritual was performed.
- 23:54Hmm. You know, we can split hairs on
- 23:59how many people you could get him.
- 24:02Right now or whether you got people in them or not, you know.
- 24:07Yeah. So I think I think that is a
- 24:11possible way of reading. This is that, you know, we're
- 24:16dealing with like hoard pattern and modern Scandinavian, our
- 24:22modern Icelandic. I'm sorry, is referring back to
- 24:26either Valley and and the other part of that is another thought
- 24:36another kind of sent. Yeah, you know, That is a
- 24:44reading of that. We could also read that sentence
- 24:48FEA are horrible, cough, hot imbrue do as they who Temples
- 24:57are I mean, well, huh. Turk Alters, whatever.
- 25:04And temples. Hi, timbered, you know?
- 25:08Yeah, we can read it that way. And that's way many, many
- 25:11translators have traded that. Yeah, that for sense.
- 25:17You know, but I think it's possible that her is referring
- 25:22back to Either way, Lee. So I guess the kind of like
- 25:29sorry go ahead Roger no no I was just going to say like let's
- 25:33sit, you know, about been here about a half hour, we could tie
- 25:36that into 20 because that's what you guys were talking about
- 25:39wanting to do run. Yeah, so I guess my like in
- 25:46summary or you know just trying to maybe get a sense of this is
- 25:54that it's a holy Place, obviously Asgard.
- 25:58It is the realm of the aesir. It is the yard the realm of
- 26:03Asgard it, another compound word in the Old Norse, right us the
- 26:07gods Asgard yard, whatever it is that the realm of the Gods, it
- 26:11is already a holy place. And yet in this holy place, we
- 26:15have examples, protect perhaps, or references to things of a
- 26:22holy connotation, all right? Like there's something here that
- 26:27that points to like, they're not just like it's not skyscrapers,
- 26:31you know what I mean? Like it ain't just, you know,
- 26:33more is it? Or is it like the realm are the
- 26:35respective homes of the Gods, right?
- 26:38Like through theme or like Thor's not through thing but
- 26:42like, You don't sound like the different homes of the Gods,
- 26:45different, right? Places that each God has, like
- 26:49Thor has his place and you know, whatever like balder it,
- 26:56whatever they had, right house, real dancing.
- 27:00And I think that's exactly what's what, what's being
- 27:03referred to in that that particular stanza.
- 27:06So maybe it's not the fact that there are Alters or temples that
- 27:09the gods are sacrificing to something greater than
- 27:13themselves. Ourselves.
- 27:13Our it's just that it's a reference to the fact that here
- 27:15in this place, there are other things going on.
- 27:19Like there's yeah homes that are that exist of the Sacred,
- 27:22perhaps, right. And I think, I think we're
- 27:25dealing with is like what? Let me get a thought in real
- 27:29quick here in talking about eat the bowler, you know, I thought
- 27:38to myself. Well, what else happens at eat
- 27:40the volar that significant in the lore, if this Is this place
- 27:44that has potentially was already holy?
- 27:48When the gods were creating everything?
- 27:52Then I went and grabbed simek real quick.
- 27:55And it says, after the end of the world at Ragnarok eat, the
- 27:58bowler is the place where the gods assemble in the new world,
- 28:01so that when everything's destroyed, it's like the concept
- 28:06of that, which is way. Holy is is still it.
- 28:13Cannot be destroyed. You know.
- 28:15So it's the inside. Yeah, that's an interesting part
- 28:21to add to it. Yeah.
- 28:22Thank you. You know.
- 28:25Now I kind of think that's what's what there. the next kind
- 28:35of like referent to what, you know, might be going on with
- 28:40this like altars that they possible, whatever the hell, the
- 28:45high-tempered of our, you know, I think the next logical step is
- 28:58to go to grimness mall you know. And and and because like what is
- 29:03it grima small for through what is it 17?
- 29:1016 17 somewhere around about there.
- 29:14Where are you goes all into the halls of the Gods?
- 29:19I think that I mean I'm not the first first person who is ever
- 29:25put forth the idea that the the Halls that are mentioned in
- 29:30cream too small. Our the Zodiac, you know.
- 29:36Yeah. You know it's like what is I
- 29:43mean some of the most like kind of more recent chip and
- 29:47everything like that has been done by like Reese's.
- 29:52Ha. Greece lessee Garretson mom, the
- 29:57Arnie Magnuson and Institute in Reykjavik.
- 30:02He is. He's been doing some pioneering
- 30:06work and and Sky lower and you know, all that kind of stuff as
- 30:12it is kind of like encoded in snoring, you know.
- 30:18And he and and and what they're kind of doing is Is the way
- 30:24snorri Maps out everything in gylfaginning is is referring to
- 30:35like stuff that's going on in the sky, celeb astronomical
- 30:41events just you know just the movements of stars and planets
- 30:45and not and also like you know, others things.
- 30:49It's an and what have ya anyways. is that Humanity has
- 30:53told that story, so many ways, it's all Yeah, absolutely.
- 31:00It's such a primal thing, you know, and I don't want to get
- 31:03too far off track because we were, we were getting some
- 31:05traction into into transitioning into the, the 20th stanza of
- 31:09Elisa and how it relates to it. But I do just want to add when
- 31:12it comes to like, astronomy Sky gazing Sky lower it.
- 31:18I think it goes way back to some, some very Primal beliefs
- 31:24or, or Primal views on us as a species or humans in general.
- 31:29That don't even that don't even necessarily are that they're not
- 31:33specific to any sort of culture, right?
- 31:36I mean we see you know, that the essence and the value of fire
- 31:41and how when when we were as a species, you know, all
- 31:45hunter-gatherers, you know, at the end of the day, we would
- 31:48huddle around the fire to keep warm to to deter predators and
- 31:54we would look up at the sky and we would see all these little
- 31:56glowing dots and we would go. What the hell.
- 31:59You know, like it was it was fascinating and and maybe
- 32:01there's this connection that we that we can place with those
- 32:06little glowing dots up in the sky, the stars, the, the
- 32:09astronomical bodies. The celestial bodies that we see
- 32:13some sort of like, similarities with like, well, here's our
- 32:16little like this fire is that glowing equivalent, you know
- 32:21what I mean? Like, they're looking down on
- 32:22us, we're looking up at them and they see all these little fires
- 32:26that are tribes in our little respective groups.
- 32:29Tsar are tending to and we're seeing their Fires at they're
- 32:33tending to I don't know it's a wild thing to go down another
- 32:37rabbit hole on maybe another time anyway well we're about to
- 32:42goes out some rabbit holes. I'm feeling so yeah, well I
- 32:48think I think before we get too verse 20, I think we need to
- 32:57jump to eight first cuz I think it's placement.
- 33:07We're going to look at 20 better.
- 33:09Look at 19 but yeah because yeah we're yeah let me get, let me
- 33:16get some shit out the way because they obviously 19 is,
- 33:21you know, because 20 is thence, come to maidens.
- 33:23Well, where it tends to do, they come, they come running the
- 33:25place and name stands in nineteen is describing the yeah
- 33:30for sure. All right.
- 33:36So so in verse 8, tefo Dewey Tunis KT, R water War thing, way
- 33:46to guess, wanted to order gooley, wounds through your
- 33:49chramu Thor, some way are all mock arm York or jotunheim.
- 33:55Oh, Okay, so this is the first arrival of the three.
- 34:10Our Moyer, the three young girls, And they are going to
- 34:19show up several different times. Alright, now the first time they
- 34:25show up is here and they like, Put it into the good times, you
- 34:38know? The, a sea otter have.
- 34:46Made some stuff. You know, they they have some
- 34:54Rules to play with. They've got some gold to hang
- 34:57out with they they're hanging. You know, they're chill and it's
- 35:03good time you know tefl Dewey to me, they're playing games in the
- 35:07hall and the hall, you know, everything was great, you know,
- 35:14there was no want of gold, you know, until the three Moira come
- 35:23Um, and in this case they've come from Cheltenham now, golden
- 35:28Hammer. I think we get a little like,
- 35:34bogged down in, like these kind of like like images that we see
- 35:42and like the books and on the websites and all that other kind
- 35:45of stuff where we have, like, some kind of like, you know,
- 35:52Monstrous almost like, you know, something different than what
- 35:56the gods are aesthetic. To the yolk job.
- 36:01But his, yeah, but we get this idea of, like, jotunheim.
- 36:07More is like, this kind of, like, You know, evil place, you
- 36:14know, repeat this place or you know what, the whatever and and
- 36:19I don't think we should probably hang out there too hard.
- 36:25I think with the often hey murder were dealing with like in
- 36:31this case we're dealing with like Out there, you know, it's
- 36:37there from out out there out Beyond amir's eyebrows, you
- 36:43know, you're out there somewhere.
- 36:46Now, this case they are they're described as a star PSI and I
- 36:53think that is the I think that is just meaning that they are
- 36:58dangerous and Powerful. Not, Ali.
- 37:06Like thurston's, you know, in the way snoring, I'm reading it,
- 37:14right. You know, yeah.
- 37:16Because I think wasn't, it wasn't, it wasn't really until
- 37:18snorri got into involve that that the concept of the, the
- 37:23Giants, or the thirst being evil inherently.
- 37:30Came into the mix. I mean, they were, they are
- 37:31God's. They are of divine construct at
- 37:35least to the degree. They just don't have the, I
- 37:38think the focus areas of of the aesir, the ACR order, whereas
- 37:43the yotan or anti order, there's a it's more chaotic.
- 37:49Is that right? Is that is that a fair
- 37:51assessment or their my? Well I think we got to worry
- 37:55like bossing around like order or chaos as kind of like these
- 38:03because really when we think about this when we really roll
- 38:09off all the kind of weird stuff um what we can consider as the
- 38:16ass m. R.
- 38:22Probably. Maybe best understood as a war
- 38:29band of jotnar, you know? Hmm.
- 38:35Because gon are are just, I mean, they're all of you, you
- 38:39know? It just so happens.
- 38:41The some of those you understand reciprocity with Humanity
- 38:48interred least, or at least reciprocity with with other
- 38:52beings other than themselves. Yeah.
- 38:55That yotan means eater. Right right?
- 38:59Right? Yes.
- 39:00Yeah. Yachting mean it means eater.
- 39:05It. Giant is a horrible translation.
- 39:08Yeah. Yeah.
- 39:08It is. You're right.
- 39:10You know. But uh but so the but I don't
- 39:15really think of them as like Auntie God's the therse are
- 39:20those are much like the a sir you are a war band of jotnar.
- 39:26So are The Thirst soccer, bitter sorrow though are antagonistic
- 39:32towards us or? Well, well us but like
- 39:37everything, you know, I mean, they are antagonistic beings,
- 39:43you know, and although they're, you know, they can they and
- 39:49their kin and friend live fine and their Permanent.
- 39:56We cannot so you know, I mean, we have that's that's an issue.
- 40:04So at any rate, these these these powerful beings, these
- 40:12three female powerful beings come and like, Get.
- 40:25The ask your off their asses. Hmm, you know, to not get too
- 40:31pointy, but, but because it even says in the following verse
- 40:35first, I think nine Thal gang. Good Reagan.
- 40:39All rocks Tola again, Halo God. That's gatosk, then all the
- 40:44great. Holy counselors Reagan is a
- 40:48weird word went to their Doom seeds, rocks.
- 40:52Toula the Great holy Gods can hold inhale of God and debated
- 41:01about about that amongst themselves, you know, then they
- 41:08contacted dwarves. All right.
- 41:13Better skill bead when Erica wrote from skepta.
- 41:17Orb Remus blody all core blah blah lines legum You know, who
- 41:28should have the dwarves, the people of the dwarves give form?
- 41:32Yeah. Um, out of the bat of brims
- 41:36blood and out of blue ones legs, you know.
- 41:40So so it's like now that now know, so it's like they've got
- 41:44all these things, they had all these tools write they they made
- 41:47all these things and now they're playing.
- 41:48And then here come these these powerful female Forces that that
- 41:55are like now go to work. God damn it right?
- 41:58Like playing my name's. I think that that's that that's
- 42:02the Norms that those muy are, are the Norms.
- 42:07That's what I think. I think, I think that's what I
- 42:09think. That is a good enough word for
- 42:13them. I think there's a lot of words
- 42:17in Old Norse that kind of like refer to these beings.
- 42:25Awesome. Yeah, I think is also a word
- 42:27kind of refers to these beings as well as I'll cue, you have
- 42:33got but not in all instances. Sometimes the valkyria or are
- 42:41those kind of like Battlefield, you know, things of Odin and all
- 42:48that other kind of, you know, do you think, do you think that I'm
- 42:53I get this word right. Get your are the same as that as
- 42:59well. Oh, I don't know laughter.
- 43:02I have to look a little bit deeper into that.
- 43:05That's interesting. It's know.
- 43:08What is that? What is that?
- 43:09Think you're referring to a female?
- 43:15The Jets giant Tessa's is would be geek.
- 43:19You're right right Robert. Yeah yeah.
- 43:23So so so so like what what Odin faces like good loathe like that
- 43:29would want potentially gerotor. So freres lover that one.
- 43:36Yeah, yeah, yeah like I'm like, I don't know.
- 43:48Is described as being a Giger, she's described.
- 43:52I think his being just a just The daughter of certain you know
- 43:58and and he's described as being a yacht you know how quiet.
- 44:04See ya, you're more familiar with what these beings are
- 44:07actually called in this language.
- 44:10But you know even take like the maidens of leafy of berg like
- 44:16the healing maidens of leafy of bird.
- 44:19You know, they're giant test is I think is what they're called
- 44:23in that Houma, filmin, small Well if I'm not mistaken but you
- 44:28know, are they kind of you know, with this year, Valkyries, norns
- 44:35there, and giantesses even in some, some cases their starts to
- 44:40become a thin line of demarcation.
- 44:43Yeah, I've heard that there's or I've heard some people make the
- 44:46argument that, you know, there are more than just the three
- 44:50Norms. There is, there are more than
- 44:51just food better than the in screw.
- 44:54Norns could be like a A generalized term of like, you
- 44:57say, DC, R Vino ancestral. Well, I think hours.
- 45:06I don't don't necessarily think that the loose but 20 I know I'm
- 45:15jumping kind of a little bit ahead of myself here but I don't
- 45:19think the loose but 20 is giving us the names of the Nords.
- 45:25Like we think it is. Yeah it's a fair that's a fair
- 45:27assessment. So can we can we can we look at
- 45:30that stanza real quick Rob because that's Kind of a subject
- 45:36matter that this comes from. And I think that would probably
- 45:40be a good place to land momentarily because you're
- 45:45right. It doesn't, it doesn't actually
- 45:47say nor nor knee or Norms or anything like that.
- 45:50Right. Right.
- 45:52It does. Yeah, it does not just as dense
- 45:55come the maidens. It's they didn't Coleman media.
- 45:59Yeah, you'll say it better than I could hose and and it's those.
- 46:08It's implied, maybe again, you know, we, yeah, we had him in
- 46:13verse 9, you know? And, and now we have them again
- 46:17in verse 20. This time.
- 46:22They're not Teresa, you know, they're not destructive now,
- 46:29they're very wise marks with Donny, you know.
- 46:33So the odd then combine more harmonics with tiny three are
- 46:37orthogonal sassy Heirloom Foley stander.
- 46:45Now House book has that a little bit different.
- 46:47Hawks book has instead of the word sap, which means see, it
- 46:54has the word Saul, which means Hall, which makes I don't know
- 47:02if it makes more sense, but it does make different sense.
- 47:09But, like so far in this, we've got from there.
- 47:14Come the those maidens. Those three maidens, three
- 47:18honored Moya are very wise, Pirates, would time be out of
- 47:25that sea or fame sack, which stands under the tree.
- 47:32Are owned solely Stander. Now ordered a to Aina, ultra
- 47:40rare than the Scarab skeevy or skinny score in III, do their
- 47:47log log, do their lift core, other 10, lakhs a.
- 47:55So the usually that is Sidered to be like, herbs hate to Aina.
- 48:05All that are aware that he Earth.
- 48:08One is called ordered, another is called Bear Down D, and then
- 48:14schooled the Third, I would assume I'm assuming, but I'll go
- 48:23ahead and go into it just because somebody probably
- 48:26doesn't the, the names order and where the knee are cognate to
- 48:37one another. They are they, they are they
- 48:40stem from the same verb there, the in Old Norse.
- 48:48And That is spelled. Yeah, that verb.
- 48:59All right. So so that verb means to become
- 49:08You know, and write the things that are happening right there.
- 49:13What is becoming like, what is happening in the same time,
- 49:16right? What's going on?
- 49:17What's Happening, you know, ordered is built from the past
- 49:22participle of that verb. Meaning her name means what has
- 49:27become like, what's already happened, essentially?
- 49:32What has already happened? What is turned?
- 49:35What has come into existence? distance already, maybe better
- 49:40than D is the present participle of the same verb and her name
- 49:45means what is becoming And then schooled is from an entirely
- 49:54different verb, which is this weird class of verbs.
- 49:59You called Model axillary, sand there, the verb that's cooled.
- 50:05Its name comes from his school. Ooh, which means should or must
- 50:09or ought to or something like that.
- 50:11But it implies obligation. and so, the the In so before we hop,
- 50:28they're all right. So In.
- 50:37And and, and, and the, the the other other verse their wounds
- 50:43three on our combo or 3D, ah, scattered all that.
- 50:50Alright. So yeah, the, the last part of
- 50:53that or the last line. So after after the do aggregate,
- 50:57all right? And and a whole bunch more
- 51:04things are made in throughout the cosmos, you know?
- 51:15The scale of this is a little difficult, you know?
- 51:19So, In the process of like all the shaping, the door, the
- 51:28dwarves, do they put together a bunch of living stuff?
- 51:35You know, the Gods? Come.
- 51:41I don't know, inspecting the work, you know.
- 51:46Okay kind of thing. I mean they subcontinent they
- 51:51made some stuff. They sat back and chilled There
- 52:00and they hired the doors as subcontractors.
- 52:04It does, it feels like they're the GCSE and the right there.
- 52:07There, there, there, there investment, you know, people.
- 52:15I'm came in and kind of kicked him in the ass and they
- 52:18subcontracted out to dwarves, and they got a whole bunch of
- 52:21stuff made, all right. Then they're into, you know,
- 52:25coming around and inspect I'm their handiwork and they find us
- 52:32whatever Oscar NAMBLA are here. It doesn't say.
- 52:37You know, snorri says, you know, implies that there there
- 52:47Driftwood that's found on the beach, you know?
- 52:52But but that's not actually found in voluspa itself.
- 52:56Yeah. Just ash and Elm Ryan, you know,
- 53:00and and difficulty with emblem, you know, emblems name could not
- 53:05absolute, I mean, well and I actually think that's the case,
- 53:08it doesn't mean Elm at all. But rather mean is is related to
- 53:14the Greek word, Amba loss, meaning a thick Woody Vine.
- 53:20Um you know, and that's where and that's where the be helped
- 53:23from. And the reason right that's,
- 53:27that's the the Problem. If you've ever heard about that,
- 53:33where there's like that issue with like embolus name and
- 53:38making me either Elm or it can mean Vine.
- 53:43And that's a really interesting point because not that I'm the
- 53:49greatest one to recall. But like, where else do we see
- 53:52references to Elm trees in lure? Right?
- 53:56Right. I don't know.
- 53:58The ash is obvious because it's You know?
- 54:00I mean there's the yggdrasil but anyway, but they, but at any
- 54:06rate there, they find like, whatever whatever.
- 54:13Oscar On Em blow work, you know, they're devoid of anything, then
- 54:19they got it did. Well, I don't think they're
- 54:21devoid of anything. I think they're they're, they're
- 54:25missing certain key components, you know, shell is there, right?
- 54:31The shell is there, you know? And then the god, they give them
- 54:38the gifts, you know? And, and, and all that.
- 54:43We know this story. Yeah, and those are very
- 54:48specific gifts to give Oscar NAMBLA The power to control
- 55:00their or law. Because I think it's all about,
- 55:05you know, it's all about that. Those layers that you're going
- 55:10to lay down everything, lays those layers, but not everything
- 55:18has willful ability to lay specific types of Layers, you
- 55:28know. So they are they they give the
- 55:37gifts and all that other stuff, all right?
- 55:40Then in verse 19, we usable have that for a given to us as being
- 55:56A. A reference to the name of the
- 56:03world. Yggdrasil.
- 56:05Right, right, right. So not surprisingly, I disagree.
- 56:16Oh wow. I don't think it.
- 56:19I don't think it. I don't think that's what it's
- 56:22saying. I don't think the ask the Oscar
- 56:29there. I think the Oscar there is the
- 56:32same Oscar in the previous verse or the two verses before, I'm
- 56:37sorry. Yeah, you know, cause is Ash is
- 56:41not right, you know, because I know Ash to stand, you know, I
- 56:46know she is saying the the vote. And she is saying, I know asked
- 56:54to stand right now. Igor still is a weird-ass word.
- 57:02Yeah, it is and horse. All right.
- 57:07Um and it is often translated as somewhat rightly as being like
- 57:19Terror steed. You know, something along those
- 57:23lines because the Rossi lose like this poetic word.
- 57:28That means like horse. Thus saith, Zoe, gotta and Iggy
- 57:37is a known name of Odin. Eager.
- 57:45Yeah, which which comes from the gutter meaning Terror, you know,
- 57:50brighteners. Or some isn't isn't one of his
- 57:52name's or Kennings as like the writer of the tree or because he
- 57:56hung from the tree, right? Yeah, you know, so, so the the
- 58:05throstle part, the reason drossel means horse poetically
- 58:11is because it's based on a root that means to support, you know.
- 58:16So it's the thing that supports or holds up Something, you know,
- 58:22the tree which is a kidding for a man, right?
- 58:26Yeah, right. And how many places are, you
- 58:31know, men referred to by trees, you know?
- 58:34In Kennings, I mean, everywhere, every poem, you know, so not
- 58:42uncommon at all right. So we're dealing with like, I
- 58:47think in this This name this name even though it should be
- 58:55extra seal, you know, there should be an ass in there.
- 59:01It is, I think alluding to it's referring to Oscar as being the
- 59:10support of Terror, you know. I don't think it's she saying
- 59:15anything good about us, you know?
- 59:18Honestly, imagine that. Don't think that the vulva is
- 59:21actually saying anything nice about us, you know, you know,
- 59:28she does call us or at least him.
- 59:33Tall, Tree har mods. Folder and now, we te Our.
- 59:48Is. Strange.
- 59:52All right. Now, our is mud or clay or that
- 59:57and I think that is kind of like referring to these kind of like
- 1:00:00layers of her law, right? In a metaphorical sense.
- 1:00:07Quit Twitter, right? Right is well, it is cognate to
- 1:00:13our Modern English word white. And but at this point in time,
- 1:00:20it doesn't really mean like the color white.
- 1:00:24Like we think of it it's more referring to things that are
- 1:00:28like. Right.
- 1:00:30Right. Yeah.
- 1:00:31Kind of like, how famed all was was was mentioned or as being
- 1:00:36like wheat. Whatever he was like the
- 1:00:37brightest of me, Ross? Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:00:41You know, it's so very more there than right.
- 1:00:44Right. So yes the same word.
- 1:00:46So so he is sprinkled with these like, with this shining like
- 1:00:53layers, you know, the ability to lay down this kind of stuff.
- 1:00:57All right, I thought I'd come home, a dog bar.
- 1:01:03There's a dollar fall out. There comes the Dale, the dues
- 1:01:07that fall in The Dales. I think that is probably a
- 1:01:11reference to blood and bloodshed and battle be honest.
- 1:01:18So I Kennings basically is what we're trying here.
- 1:01:21Cannings absolutes in the Dale is blood on the battlefield.
- 1:01:24Perhaps that's certainly can be right?
- 1:01:28And then stand there at ether or grin is our burner, easy stands,
- 1:01:34Evergreen over the spring of What has turned what has come
- 1:01:39into being? And I'm gonna Brunner for those
- 1:01:45who don't really kind of know that about Bruner is that kind
- 1:01:49of like It's a spring head. Well, it's a well-built over
- 1:01:55like a spring head where there's moving water through it.
- 1:01:59It's not one that you did not stagnant.
- 1:02:01Yeah, it's not a stagnant. Well it's a moving water, so
- 1:02:06that's kind of a visual sort of. It says, just symbolism layered
- 1:02:10upon symbolism. Yeah, layers of symbolism.
- 1:02:15You know, so so, in 19, Are our predecessor are doing.
- 1:02:38Stuff. They're blessed in their work,
- 1:02:44their sprinkled with white mud y-wing is technical with mud
- 1:02:49there, but, you know, but you know, might be did to kind of
- 1:03:01the wrong things necessarily, I don't know, you know, gets a
- 1:03:07little technical there, but, but it it right.
- 1:03:11The, the more yard return Don, come Oya remarks from time T 3
- 1:03:17are or same sap Solis. Tender from the see the stands
- 1:03:23under the tree. Now, they are giving Gifts to
- 1:03:31us. All right, the goddesses are
- 1:03:35giving gifts. The moyer are giving its, you
- 1:03:38know, the one, the first gift that they give us is called
- 1:03:43earned and the other bhadra is called wear them, right?
- 1:03:52This I think is totally related connected to practice the spa
- 1:04:00and divination and all that other kind of stuff in there.
- 1:04:03This is how to see how Actions. Reverberant.
- 1:04:13You know what what what Well, yeah, I mean how it, what?
- 1:04:21Kind of how things are reverberated.
- 1:04:24Yeah, that is, that is fascinating interpretation.
- 1:04:31Yeah, Nami. Keep going because I've got it,
- 1:04:33I've got something that's brewing in my mind that I want
- 1:04:36to say. But I want to wait for you to
- 1:04:37finish the rest of the stands up before I say it right on.
- 1:04:41All right. So they scored on on thin,
- 1:04:46strips worried skidder. Score, ruski D and then schooled
- 1:04:53is obligation. All right.
- 1:04:58It's it's one thing to like do a bunch of spa and get a whole
- 1:05:05bunch of like, Feeling good e information that makes you like,
- 1:05:11I don't know. A happy Heathen, right?
- 1:05:16But schooled says, you need to do that, you need to, you need
- 1:05:24to enact that in the world, you need to make those things app.
- 1:05:30You know, their long log. Do they laid down the laws?
- 1:05:34They chose lies. Fair cool relief.
- 1:05:40For the son of this, with the sons of men, it's kind of that's
- 1:05:44I think it's kind of a with because it's a, it's a use of
- 1:05:50the dative, they're all they're born them, you know.
- 1:05:55But I think it's a I think they did this in like conjunction.
- 1:06:01Yeah. You know with things and then
- 1:06:07the log sega's is like they spoke the ancient, you know,
- 1:06:15they said the ancient Light layers.
- 1:06:21So I get hard. Yeah, it's got, It's kind of
- 1:06:24hard to get like the you, like Modern English right?
- 1:06:29Weird. I've heard people try to say,
- 1:06:32oh, it's just the Norse equivalent to fate and I'm like,
- 1:06:35hmm. Yeah, it's not so much but those
- 1:06:39are people that that are largely.
- 1:06:41I don't think really understand what the word state.
- 1:06:43So so here's where I was just. Here's what I was trying to.
- 1:06:47Like here's the thing that was like Mullen Around in my brain,
- 1:06:49as you were talking about this, we are the Shapers of weird.
- 1:06:56We are the ones that Define. You want to call it destiny?
- 1:07:01Fate whatever light. Because again, it's hard to
- 1:07:03equivalent these words into a modern brain.
- 1:07:07I into a modern thing, but it's like we're the ones that are
- 1:07:09shaping it. It's there's a set beginning.
- 1:07:12There's a set ending were born and we die.
- 1:07:14That's it's the it's the start point in the end point.
- 1:07:18All of this shit in the begin. In the in the middle we're
- 1:07:22shaping that we are the Shapers of weird is is what I was
- 1:07:26alluding to it as you were talking about like and what?
- 1:07:29You're saying. Really kind of reaffirms that in
- 1:07:34my mind. It's like we have that power.
- 1:07:36We were given that power through this process as it were.
- 1:07:42It's it was laid down. In the creation myth for our
- 1:07:49primordial cells to have this power to shape life, to shape
- 1:07:54existence to shape our own and the weird of others.
- 1:07:58I like the everybody that we that we interact with that we
- 1:08:02tie, you know, interaction that who, how we have interactions
- 1:08:07with and all that we shape it. Yeah.
- 1:08:11All right. And I think that's why we get
- 1:08:12those kind of like stuff with Havel mall where we get those.
- 1:08:16And of like, you know, return gift for gift and you know
- 1:08:20treachery for treachery and blessings and all that other
- 1:08:23kind of shit, you know, and live, huh?
- 1:08:28I was gonna say, if you take your interpretation there that
- 1:08:32like likes Paul or divination, or the ability to kind of see
- 1:08:39some of these strands in some type of magical way.
- 1:08:43The reason that that is is such Such okay.
- 1:08:47So with that gift and being able to do that in that a to be born
- 1:08:52to death and then we are shaping.
- 1:08:55This weird what you have is you have a debt to that comes with
- 1:09:03that, with the ability to be able to see that take place and
- 1:09:08work on these abilities, there's a debt to be paid.
- 1:09:13Hmm. The reciprocity sorrow that you
- 1:09:20would carry with it. Well, I'm it, right?
- 1:09:24I mean, well, I think there is like, you know, I think there's
- 1:09:28like a heavy thing to carry in those kind of like sorts of
- 1:09:33things I think that's why I like, we have that kind of stuff
- 1:09:36and have a mall where, where there's like, you know, better
- 1:09:40oppa that and say, oh bloated, you know, it's better not to ask
- 1:09:44Sanjeev over. Sacrifice, you know because ever
- 1:09:48does a gift look for gay noise, their skills, you know, better
- 1:09:53that whole sentence a old so it better unsent than over
- 1:09:57sacrificed. Again, you know, and and, and
- 1:10:01thunder. And, and the, in the verse even
- 1:10:03says, small corner of racist, thus, this is stuff that owes
- 1:10:08amazed, you know, so yeah. I mean, there is that It is, it
- 1:10:17is a heavy like kind of contract sort of thing.
- 1:10:21I think that's what kind of verb blow to her.
- 1:10:24Come as might be getting a little off-topic here, but but
- 1:10:27that's what I think that the verb bilotta is probably
- 1:10:30referring to why it's a different verb.
- 1:10:34That's Lola, but they're both means sacrifice, you know, it's
- 1:10:41clearly two different things. So I think what's going on in?
- 1:10:45In with bloating is. Like fulfilling your eye on your
- 1:10:55part of the contract, you know, you, you you go ahead, I'll say,
- 1:11:02could it, could it be that blow to has the connection to like
- 1:11:07you're saying, the fulfilling your part there is that that
- 1:11:10blood is needed. There is a blood connection.
- 1:11:13There, there's something of a tangible connection within
- 1:11:17ourselves. That is required for that.
- 1:11:19Part of the The sacrifice. Well, I don't think I don't
- 1:11:25think we need to life associate blow to and blood necessarily
- 1:11:32the third blow to. We know that, right?
- 1:11:34We know that bloat was done with blood but blow to his is its own
- 1:11:38thing is what you're saying. Well, Well, okay, so where do we
- 1:11:46know that bloat was done with blood?
- 1:11:52okay, so maybe then I, you know, so okay to answer that, I would
- 1:11:56say that there's Was it is it in the hamstring ler Saga?
- 1:12:06That that that word particularly bloat is is mentioned that that
- 1:12:10bloat was done at like, say you'll write like bloat was was
- 1:12:15done and that the blood was sprinkled.
- 1:12:17I don't look, I know that that hamstring lasogga is right at a
- 1:12:21certain period of time and you know, we're looking at the the,
- 1:12:27the Christianity influences of things.
- 1:12:30So maybe there's there's Some bias to that.
- 1:12:32But my understanding was that bloat requires blood, animal
- 1:12:37blood, not human blood per se necessarily, but I mean, right.
- 1:12:40See, we're going off into some other things too.
- 1:12:44I think, I think this is where I think this is where fruition,
- 1:12:53Got it wrong. But I think they, but I'd, but
- 1:12:57by the time they were writing the sagas, I don't think they
- 1:13:00were purposely getting it wrong. I think it was just, they just
- 1:13:04didn't know what that word really implied anymore.
- 1:13:09You know, they knew they had like stories in their families.
- 1:13:14We're like they're, you know, great, great grand grandfather,
- 1:13:19something like that when he arrived at Iceland.
- 1:13:22You know started like sacrificing or well started
- 1:13:25doing blow te again, you know, or did blow te and he was a
- 1:13:30great blow to my father or something.
- 1:13:32Okay, that's one. So like when the Saga says
- 1:13:35so-and-so and he was a great sacrifice, ER that's going to
- 1:13:38say, you know, all calmed water broke.
- 1:13:45Mother, right? Something like that. but, you
- 1:13:50know, so right, so he's there there Day there by the time.
- 1:13:58They're right in Hawkins Saga and go the they don't they don't
- 1:14:01know this stuff anymore. I mean is you know I mean I
- 1:14:05don't know the Heathen stuff anymore or at least why.
- 1:14:10So at any rate blow te Is it can involved blood?
- 1:14:22It's here. Here's the thing, it's in halawa
- 1:14:26mall. It's coupled with with bidhya.
- 1:14:31All right, which is to to ask or something along those lines.
- 1:14:36So what you're doing is you're going to the gods and you're
- 1:14:39asking for something, whatever, whatever that is, right.
- 1:14:46And in you say, as part of their the thing, I will give you I
- 1:14:56will give you three goats. You know if my crops do well,
- 1:15:06you know what the hell ever? All right my crops do well.
- 1:15:11All right I give my three goats that's bloat.
- 1:15:15Rhoda all right it can also be I'm going to you know, I'll give
- 1:15:24you I'll, I'll raise a statue, you know, I'll raise a god pole,
- 1:15:31you know, to you in honor. If you, you know, if you grant
- 1:15:36me this, this You know, wheel bun, whatever, you know.
- 1:15:43So there You know, and and and then likewise you get that wheel
- 1:15:49or bun or whatever it is. So you erect the god pole you
- 1:15:54know and you and you put some extra oomph into it.
- 1:15:57High energy resources but not you know what all the time.
- 1:16:02But uh yeah. You're not you're not you're not
- 1:16:04going to talk. Make a god pole.
- 1:16:07That's this big. You're going to make a god pole
- 1:16:09that's taller than your fucking house.
- 1:16:11You know. Punish it.
- 1:16:13You know. Yeah.
- 1:16:14So I think that's I think What we're dealing with with like
- 1:16:19bloater as far as a practice, it's the fulfilling of the
- 1:16:25contract that you entered into, with the gods, right?
- 1:16:29Whatever. You know.
- 1:16:31Because a lot of these people when we look at like Nolan AMA
- 1:16:34book and stuff like that, where we get those stories of like,
- 1:16:38you know Uncle ain't our who is the great bloat mother kind of
- 1:16:42thing, right? All these are our guys Eyes and
- 1:16:46families who just traveled from Norway.
- 1:16:51You know, left three things that they knew behind and settled in
- 1:16:57a new land, you know? They've made it across the North
- 1:17:01Sea alive. Yeah.
- 1:17:04Yeah, they offered sacrifice when they got to land.
- 1:17:09Right? Well, I know I think this would
- 1:17:12be a great topic maybe for this for the three of us or maybe
- 1:17:15more to get together. Just to talk about this very
- 1:17:17thing because I've done, I've done enough content about, you
- 1:17:20know, the difference of bloat or or sacrificing in the context of
- 1:17:26bloat, which was at the time, I understood to be blood, must be
- 1:17:30present because of various Source material.
- 1:17:33That mentions, that that The Huger was Bloody or that if you
- 1:17:36know, the people were sprinkled with blood by the this thing
- 1:17:39that of the other verses, you know, things of like, let's say,
- 1:17:44for instance, the account of even Fudd Lon with the Swedish
- 1:17:51ruse, where it doesn't mention that blood was was sacrificed
- 1:17:55but that, you know, the ruse would come and they arrived in
- 1:17:58Port, and they would prostrate themselves before this figure
- 1:18:01this God pull, perhaps. And they would say, aye, No, I I
- 1:18:07give you all these things in hopes of getting something back.
- 1:18:10There was, there was this reciprocity understanding there
- 1:18:12was, I'm giving you monetary 'l Goods that I could potentially
- 1:18:18use for myself and I'm giving of them to this, you know, the to
- 1:18:22the sacred, to the Divine. And it was clearly like milk
- 1:18:25honey grains, whatever it wasn't, there was no mention of
- 1:18:28blood. So there was different.
- 1:18:29So so we have examples of things like, you know that which could
- 1:18:34maybe Be defined in in modern times as I cannot just
- 1:18:37paintings, I think maybe or just our offerings, but that would be
- 1:18:41a really cool. I think topic to Deep dive into
- 1:18:46separately because that again, like, we're getting into some
- 1:18:49really heavy-duty stuff with that.
- 1:18:51And it's fascinating to me because, again, I I come from a
- 1:18:55background where I'm like, well, blood bloat, if you're going to
- 1:18:58call it bloat, must have blood. There there seems to be a miss,
- 1:19:04not a misunderstanding. But there seems to be enough
- 1:19:06understanding here amongst us that I could be wrong and maybe
- 1:19:11wrong and like not are not at least not in every case, right?
- 1:19:15Our group up here, particularly we don't we don't get too hung
- 1:19:19up on if there's not blood calling it feigning.
- 1:19:22We generally call everything we do is is a bloat and we haven't
- 1:19:26have blood yet at one of them. Yes I know and if it works then
- 1:19:30it works. Yeah, a lot of so much.
- 1:19:34This terminology gets really mushy but but so has a whole
- 1:19:39different. Now there, I think we are
- 1:19:42dealing because so has now that verb has like horrible
- 1:19:48connotations and modern Icelandic.
- 1:19:51Well, not horrible. I do think though, with this,
- 1:19:53like, we're getting into this Hall them all stuff.
- 1:19:56This could be a whole nother. Oh, yes, I could.
- 1:19:59I could, I could, I could dedicate a whole podcast about
- 1:20:01That because that stanza 144, you know, Vista Way sauce called
- 1:20:05as to why send us call this to be brought to school like that,
- 1:20:10right there. I could I could Dot dot dot.
- 1:20:13That's my Jason. The whole ritual formula is
- 1:20:15like, yeah, yeah. Oh yeah, I think that's that
- 1:20:21144, that is a wonderful verse because that does kind of open
- 1:20:25up these kind of like ritual processes.
- 1:20:29I mean, there's there's stuff that's in there.
- 1:20:31That is like specifically magical, you know, and then
- 1:20:35there's stuff in there that is like religion, so has like that
- 1:20:40verb. That's Of like it means to like
- 1:20:45bring things to an end. It's a killing them up.
- 1:20:49Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:20:51Whatever. I like how you are.
- 1:20:53Like how you made the 138 to 145.
- 1:20:59Sorry to interrupt Jessie. No that's fine the Rune at all
- 1:21:02right? Or the yeah that that section of
- 1:21:04the homeowner. Yeah.
- 1:21:06No, it does because I know like how you mentioned that it was
- 1:21:09magical versus religious. There are they are definitely
- 1:21:13separate parts of that can maybe interact but magical working is
- 1:21:19different than religious working which is different than to me at
- 1:21:21least than spiritual stuff. You know.
- 1:21:24Like the the spirituality of a person is not necessarily
- 1:21:29all-encompassing of their religiosity.
- 1:21:31I like that. I've never heard it said that.
- 1:21:36You're right. When you think about it, you
- 1:21:38know, getting together with a group for religious worst
- 1:21:42worship is different than your day-to-day spirituality which is
- 1:21:45certainly different from working magic.
- 1:21:48So right, I mean, I think it's a little hazardous to throw around
- 1:21:53terms like religious and magical and all that kind of shit.
- 1:21:58Especially when we're dealing with like Heathen rebut.
- 1:22:03My thing was always that I guess words.
- 1:22:06Aged. I mean, my thing was always that
- 1:22:09if you're talking about anything of a religious nature, then the
- 1:22:11gods, the Divine, the sacred, they're involved.
- 1:22:16I'm just giving my definition when and so spirituality is more
- 1:22:22of you know the things of perhaps our dealings with our
- 1:22:26ancestors, the the Victor localized, whether it be cool.
- 1:22:31If God's again, whites are /pha tear that that term I guess
- 1:22:36could be. Interchangeable that that to me
- 1:22:39was always more tapping into the realm of spirituality.
- 1:22:42And then magical stuff is very very centralized around Hearth
- 1:22:46cult practices and things of individual cultic practices that
- 1:22:54don't necessarily involve more than just what's underneath the
- 1:22:58roof tree, the me, you know, that's how I was the simulating
- 1:23:03at all. I've always looked at like,
- 1:23:07magic is as you are now trying to like Crowley's definition of
- 1:23:15create change in Conformity, with Will is kind of what I
- 1:23:20think magic is and maybe sometimes I do magic.
- 1:23:24I'm gonna do magic before too long with this for mention Rune
- 1:23:30white that I'm making right. Which is a cultic practice of
- 1:23:34you, right? Well if yeah Develop my ode of
- 1:23:40operation with how I like to do these kinds of things.
- 1:23:43They have a looking at my runic inscription.
- 1:23:45I drew it on before coming on here and it's like you know, you
- 1:23:50can tell when I write runes I just they look the same.
- 1:23:54It's like a signature. Like my handwriting.
- 1:23:58No, I mean I did Magic tonight before I got on with you guys.
- 1:24:01I put a bunch of of things into a centralized Pot and I and I
- 1:24:08used fire to sear the Flesh of a deceased animal, and then I
- 1:24:15consumed it ritualistically, which is what I called dinner,
- 1:24:18right? I was in the kitchen, It's
- 1:24:20Magic. Yes, same.
- 1:24:30But, you know, so, yeah, like I mean, we could Define it and so,
- 1:24:36He different ways and you know it hits home.
- 1:24:39This was great guys. I think this was a phenomenal,
- 1:24:43you know. So I think if we wanted to
- 1:24:44summarize things that as best we could because we've gone on for
- 1:24:49a while now. But I mean if we wanted to
- 1:24:50summarize things, I think one of the things that we've almost
- 1:24:55settled on is is this concept of the Gods and Asgard having a
- 1:25:02temple, or a hearth or an altar to sacrifice to me.
- 1:25:06Not be what we're looking at here.
- 1:25:08What we may be looking at here is just the fact that the place
- 1:25:13itself is sacred and holy and there are great Powers involved
- 1:25:19at the, you know, through the really through the reading of
- 1:25:22the voluspa that are our drivers that are catalysts to achieving
- 1:25:31certain things and part of that process involves Humanity
- 1:25:35mankind. Oscar, if we will the the in end
- 1:25:40we ourselves are imbued with power to shape things.
- 1:25:48Is that a fair? We are given some very
- 1:25:51important, very, very important gifts.
- 1:25:56You know, and the goddesses the three, our lawyer, they come and
- 1:26:02they give us A way to be thoughtful about it, you know,
- 1:26:10and not just act out of impulse. You know.
- 1:26:15And I think another big in those early stages of creation and
- 1:26:20voluspa with with the way that it was it was red tonight.
- 1:26:25It's like as the gods were ordering Things, They Came Upon
- 1:26:30eat the volar and recognized it as something that was already.
- 1:26:36Holy that didn't need to be purified.
- 1:26:39It was it was just that way already and then it, then it
- 1:26:44then it comes back. Back at the end of Ragnarok, you
- 1:26:47know, it's I love that idea. I just love that idea.
- 1:26:53I think we're dealing with like either born just kind of a side,
- 1:26:57little footnote here. There's also the the realm that
- 1:27:03the dwarves dwell in is called sparked off, Hammer by snorri,
- 1:27:09but that's only in sonority, you know, and only occurs one time.
- 1:27:15So, you know, but place that is refer to numerous times
- 1:27:24referring to. The dwarves is called need the
- 1:27:28Ville, and it literally means below the valleys Under The
- 1:27:34Valleys, you know. So what you're dealing with is
- 1:27:38like I think what we're dealing with is kind of magical
- 1:27:43separation here, but Above. You have the interval, you have
- 1:27:48this shining' realm shining powerful place of existence
- 1:27:56where the gods and light Alves and all that other kind of stuff
- 1:28:00too well. And then below that need the
- 1:28:03vole below. The valleys is where, you know,
- 1:28:09The the the Shapers and other Subterranean, ketonic sorts of
- 1:28:17whites are, you know, engaged and, and we dwell in that kind
- 1:28:23of like that V have access to that middle.
- 1:28:28That middle ground, we have access to it.
- 1:28:31And that's probably what our ancestors saw in like, you know,
- 1:28:34mountains and caves, you know. And everything, right?
- 1:28:39And I mean, like not just our ancestors, like Viking age.
- 1:28:42I'm talking like our ancestors, the whole, you know.
- 1:28:45Yeah, ancient ancestors had before it all.
- 1:28:47Yeah we're saying those kind of white Journeys into the
- 1:28:52underworld and I and we see vestiges of it, I think in like
- 1:28:57lascaux and Chauvet and all those other painted caves, you
- 1:29:01know. But that's a whole nother topic.
- 1:29:04We always ask you about getting Scott on with us and do a
- 1:29:08podcast and have it. It would be deep.
- 1:29:12I would love to have Scott on here.
- 1:29:14I've, I've haven't talked to him directly at least in a very long
- 1:29:19time, but I've mentioned to him about coming on here, and it was
- 1:29:22just kind of like, hey, would you like to come on a podcast?
- 1:29:23And he was, he was receptive to it, but to have like something
- 1:29:28of this degree of granularity, like going to stuff, Like this,
- 1:29:33I think would be hella fun many. It'd be such a good time and I
- 1:29:38do just want to say real quick to like for everybody that does
- 1:29:40listen and watch this, you know, all of the stuff that we spent
- 1:29:43all this time talking about. Look at look at the amount of
- 1:29:50years. Look at first of all, look at
- 1:29:51the years behind this degree of analysis and then look at the
- 1:29:59combined, you know, somebody here from Who's Ben who's been
- 1:30:03Heathen, you know, for 40 years we're going on and and myself
- 1:30:09and everybody else like it, just the differences and it's if
- 1:30:14there's there's nothing. I don't think that we could walk
- 1:30:16away from here and say well we figured it out guys.
- 1:30:18This is it. It's largely if not entirely
- 1:30:23shared UPG, right? As long as we're as long as
- 1:30:29we're coming into it saying as such, but I think that a lot of
- 1:30:32Of what is being shared here? Is deeply rooted in strong
- 1:30:38Source material, in terms of like the, the Linguistics part
- 1:30:41of it, right? Like, I don't know nearly as
- 1:30:43much as Rob does hear about the linguistic.
- 1:30:46Mighty, you clearly language is impressive.
- 1:30:49Very impressive. You know, I mean he clearly
- 1:30:51knows his way around the the linguistic side of it which does
- 1:30:54really help paint a clearer picture of how we should be
- 1:30:59looking at things or way to look at things.
- 1:31:02Because you could come up with all kinds of stuff which is
- 1:31:05clearly been done over the centuries.
- 1:31:07You know, everybody says, come up, everybody's, come up with
- 1:31:09their own ways of looking at things tonight.
- 1:31:11We, we got a chance to really do a deep dive into what in the
- 1:31:15hell of the words that are being used here.
- 1:31:18What do they mean? What could they mean?
- 1:31:21How could they be interpreted? And then, what does, you know,
- 1:31:25what do we get from it all? And, you know, one of the things
- 1:31:28about I do rob, you know, I love the Poetics and, and the Double
- 1:31:33meanings and stuff. And in the little bit that I
- 1:31:36know about Old Norse and have looked at some of these things
- 1:31:40poetically, they love to throw stuff at you.
- 1:31:44That could be interpreted a couple different ways and they
- 1:31:46knew what they were doing and that's what made a good home.
- 1:31:50And so now we're scratching our heads, A Thousand Years Later,
- 1:31:53learning a little bit about Old Norse, Way away from the
- 1:31:56culture, way away from the original understandings of it,
- 1:32:01and it is Absolutely. An enigma wrapped in a conundrum
- 1:32:06and it's fun. It is floating in a sea of
- 1:32:11riddles. Yeah, that that it is because,
- 1:32:16you know, that's a good point, Roger.
- 1:32:17I mean like the ones that wrote it all down, I mean they knew
- 1:32:21what they were talking about back then and they're like,
- 1:32:24watch this guy's, you know, I'm going to do.
- 1:32:27I'm watch, watch watch what I'm about to do.
- 1:32:28They're going to really love this when whoever it is that
- 1:32:31reads. This you know, what are you A
- 1:32:32year, two years, 1000 years down the road.
- 1:32:34They how would they have known? How long it would have taken for
- 1:32:39this to be analyzed by? You know, there was no way that
- 1:32:43these guys are gal good ever would have known that people
- 1:32:45over the Internet would have been talking about
- 1:32:58such a fragmentary, you know, version of it, you know, it's
- 1:33:04like just It's like the somebody I can't remember who was put
- 1:33:12forth the analogy that it's like you know, we're uncovering where
- 1:33:17archaeologists uncovering a ship rat.
- 1:33:20You know I think in a lot of respects we don't even know if
- 1:33:25we have ship Hearts graph and now it's like we don't we don't
- 1:33:31we don't even know. That's what we're on, you could
- 1:33:34have been an airplane, right? It could have Been there for
- 1:33:37him, it could have been, you could have been a fine fucking
- 1:33:40zoster, right, you know? So I think there's think there's
- 1:33:47like You PG is such a weird thing.
- 1:33:52I think you just one of those like necessary things because
- 1:33:56everybody uses it, Academia uses it.
- 1:33:59Everybody uses it. Because all of this is, but I
- 1:34:04think U PG is something that grows out of the lore.
- 1:34:08Not something that works in opposition to it.
- 1:34:12You know, we can't go with. I don't think we can as modern
- 1:34:17heathens. approach this as going like okay, well, my UPG is
- 1:34:26Whatever, you know, doesn't matter.
- 1:34:30Don't disagree for therefore, you know, something that isn't
- 1:34:34the loose, but is in direct opposition to it, so loose was
- 1:34:38wrong, you know? No, that's not really all that
- 1:34:43works. I think what we get is is as we
- 1:34:46like our Connection with the The Lure.
- 1:34:53Both, both both at us, grows those connections, start to
- 1:35:01form. So we had these kind of
- 1:35:03connections, like well, what are these altars and temples that
- 1:35:07the gods are making? What are the what are these?
- 1:35:10You know, it's possible that it's groomed that is referring
- 1:35:14to something in green, too small.
- 1:35:15You know, that's also referred to in Greenville small where
- 1:35:18it's, you know, we're talking. Talking about the building their
- 1:35:21own homes with the gods. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:35:24And all that kind of stuff. So you know I mean now what the
- 1:35:28halls of the gods are is a little bit more speculative.
- 1:35:33You know what we're probably dealing with is some sort of
- 1:35:38like Germanic Astronomy for black guy with Rowling, you
- 1:35:48know, that's a whole thing to do, but it is one of those
- 1:35:53things that is. So, so rooted in the core.
- 1:35:58Like you were saying earlier, Jesse, you know what?
- 1:36:01We're looking up at the sky and we're seeing their fires and
- 1:36:04they're looking down, and they're seeing ours.
- 1:36:06It's so rooted in the core of humanity, that At that to pull
- 1:36:13something out of it, like the halls of the Gods, being the the
- 1:36:18Zodiac. It's yes, it is U PG but it's
- 1:36:22worth looking at UPG is definitely it has value.
- 1:36:28So for instance, like I got erequest coats book, The Eagles
- 1:36:33mean which is really super grounded in lore.
- 1:36:38It's his poetry as he worked through.
- 1:36:41Through the nine doors and midgard.
- 1:36:43And he's a master in the room, Guild and everything.
- 1:36:46And now this, this is his modern interpretations his experiences
- 1:36:50with everything, but you go through and you read The Poetry
- 1:36:54and you're like, fuck yeah, bro. Good stuff, you know.
- 1:37:00Yeah, so so it has value, you know, people that just so it's U
- 1:37:04PG and they turn their ears off. It is the wrong approach.
- 1:37:10Yeah, no. I and that's the whole thing to
- 1:37:12me is like, what I'm hoping is that you PG is absolutely valid
- 1:37:16as long as we're clearly defining it as such.
- 1:37:19Like what I'm trying to say is like, hey guys, I don't think
- 1:37:22we're we've reached the point that that what we've deduced
- 1:37:26tonight is 100% fact. I mean we're literally analyzing
- 1:37:29lure. Yeah.
- 1:37:31Right. You know what I mean?
- 1:37:32Like, let's get real like but it's it I think we've reached
- 1:37:36some really phenomenal things and thank you rob for For being
- 1:37:41such a great leader in this in this endeavor tonight with
- 1:37:44which, you know, the linguistic aspect and talking through it
- 1:37:47all. You've done a phenomenal job.
- 1:37:49I'm excited on watching this whole thing replay.
- 1:37:52I think people that have watched this up to this point are going
- 1:37:55to be really enthralled and I would love to have more stuff
- 1:37:59like this recurring on this channel and on this podcast to
- 1:38:02talk about things like every time I like the connection
- 1:38:05possibly between the the halls of the Gods and its potential.
- 1:38:10oil correlation to astral bodies or astronomy in a dramatic sense
- 1:38:15because I don't think we really know that these people had a
- 1:38:21That that sort of vision, unlike the Greeks or some of the other
- 1:38:26cultures that that clearly were very astronomy driven.
- 1:38:29And, you know, like all of the astral bodies that we have names
- 1:38:32for our from those cultures, right?
- 1:38:35I think it's a really fun thing to tap into an explorer. well,
- 1:38:40people, I think a lot of the ideas behind like the
- 1:38:49Astrological approach to this, is there.
- 1:38:58They're looking at like the stuff in the in snore he's in
- 1:39:04gylfaginning wear you know big door sill.
- 1:39:07Yggdrasil itself is the Milky Way, all right.
- 1:39:13The Arc of the Milky Way that we see through the sky, the the for
- 1:39:21deer that eat evidence. Are like likely specific
- 1:39:30constellations or at least start using constellation.
- 1:39:36I don't want to eat like make connections with like modern
- 1:39:39constellations because they may not have necessarily seen those
- 1:39:43same patterns in the sky, but everybody has seen patterns in
- 1:39:48the sky. Sure, you know?
- 1:39:51I mean every every every Culture.
- 1:39:56Yeah globally you know I mean what I'm saying like before you
- 1:39:59get laid back and you know you got your fire burning yet.
- 1:40:02You're trying not to die. You got a fire Burnin to keep
- 1:40:04the Predators and all that away. Like just primitive, man.
- 1:40:07Whatever you know exactly what their this looking up at the sky
- 1:40:09going shit. Look at that right?
- 1:40:11And they had enough right? They have nothing else to talk
- 1:40:14about other than what the hell's going on up there above them.
- 1:40:17So there's a word. I was wondering if you could
- 1:40:20maybe, you know, and as we get close to wrapping up here,
- 1:40:23there's a word that that has recently come into my vocabulary
- 1:40:26and I don't think there's, you know, anything of particular
- 1:40:30Source material, but again a compound word stay out in the
- 1:40:34court star map Mapping of the Stars.
- 1:40:39I and, and the reason why I wanted to bring it up or give,
- 1:40:43you know, something to ponder about his, I will be venturing
- 1:40:50off into the mountains of Appalachia later this year to
- 1:40:54partake in a sort of Ritual of a retreat of sorts with with dear
- 1:41:04friends and by all intents and purposes, brothers and family,
- 1:41:09you know, extended kin and kith of my my family.
- 1:41:13And that's kind of the theme of this year's Retreat is to is to
- 1:41:19look to the stars and and see the.
- 1:41:22Is this a word that has been constructed for this Retreat?
- 1:41:27Yeah. Okay cool.
- 1:41:29Yeah. Exactly.
- 1:41:30Again, I am saying that there's nothing.
- 1:41:31I know. You can look up and find butts.
- 1:41:33Tiana stay on the court star map, something like that.
- 1:41:39Well I wouldn't be surprised if it's not.
- 1:41:42It's been a long time since I've looked at that Saga but there's
- 1:41:45like a saga that's called The Saga of star ADI and it's I mean
- 1:41:53that's really what it is is a book on astronomy written in
- 1:41:58Icelandic. No, no, but it is not at all
- 1:42:05like, Heathen Germanic. It's not yet.
- 1:42:10It's everything. Is like Sagittarius and Jim and
- 1:42:12I, and, you know, all of kind of look like, modern, well, not
- 1:42:16modern, but the Babylonian Greek, you know, Mediterranean
- 1:42:21zodiac names, right? And all that other stuff.
- 1:42:25And and so, you know, and and that's just a And it's late.
- 1:42:30It's remember what. But I think it seems like it's
- 1:42:33in like the 15th, maybe 16s in Turkey, it's late, you know.
- 1:42:39Yeah, so, you know, but there was any event they were.
- 1:42:44Yeah, I mean, it's it's a whole lot of speculation but there's
- 1:42:49everybody who has ever looked every culture that can see the
- 1:42:53sky has told stories about what's going on in it.
- 1:42:57Yeah, you know. Yeah, it's us looking.
- 1:43:00I think you're right, it's us looking up at the realm of the
- 1:43:03Realms of the Gods, just like them looking down at us, you
- 1:43:06know. Well, it is definitely a
- 1:43:09fascinating concept. And for, for everybody listening
- 1:43:14watching today, I hope that this was the extra time that we spent
- 1:43:17going into all this. I hope that it was a edifying
- 1:43:22thing. I'm sure there's going to be a
- 1:43:23lot of people that that pause come back, revisit It, Whatever,
- 1:43:27right? Like so many things, it's like,
- 1:43:29hey, I can't spend all this time just watching.
- 1:43:31So I'm gonna do the same thing just because I'm like this, this
- 1:43:34for me, I mean, just it's early in the year but I mean, this
- 1:43:37this for me. Me in terms of the whole catalog
- 1:43:40of podcast. Like this, this ranks up here as
- 1:43:43probably one of my most meaningful and enjoyable
- 1:43:47conversations. This, this was, this is great.
- 1:43:49Awesome. Thank you.
- 1:43:52I'm honored. Jesse, thank you very much for
- 1:43:54having me. Yeah, yeah, it's great to be in
- 1:43:57stone and Twin Rivers to become friends of yours.
- 1:44:01And to be forging, these, these ties of frith.
- 1:44:05And we got a and we got to get it.
- 1:44:08Off the internet and meet in person, one of these days and
- 1:44:11yeah, have some fun and, and drink some meat, and all that
- 1:44:16absolutely, man. Absolutely.
- 1:44:18You guys aren't too, too far respectively.
- 1:44:21Speaking from from where I am, I've traveled farther for Less,
- 1:44:26you know, I will make it happen someday.

- 1:44:33So if you guys don't mind, just hang out for a minute, I'm going

- 1:45:31Again, May the gods sacrifices to them, their that all just do,
- 1:45:36all the things. You know what?
- 1:45:37If You're worrying about doing too much.
- 1:45:39Then, you know, figure that out later.
- 1:45:41Throw your vanquished enemies at their feet.
- 1:45:45Do it all. So yes.
- 1:45:47Absolutely. Thank you all so much for
- 1:45:49watching and listening to today's episode.
