Welcome to Kick Ass Daily, where we bring news, trivia, fun
• 0:04
facts, and more just for curious kids like you.
• 0:07
Today, we're kicking things off with a super cool soccer story.
• 0:11
Let's travel to sunny Florida and learn all about Inter Miami,
• 0:15
one of the newest and most exciting soccer teams in the
• 0:18
United States. If you love sports, teamwork,
• 0:21
and a little bit of star power, you're going to love this
• 0:24
episode. Let's start with a big question.
• 0:27
What is Inter Miami? Imagine your school just started
• 0:30
a brand new soccer team and everyone's buzzing with
• 0:33
excitement. That's kind of how it felt when
• 0:35
Inter Miami joined Major League Soccer, or MLS for short, in
• 0:40
2020. MLS is the top professional
• 0:43
Soccer League in the United States and Canada.
• 0:45
So Inter Miami is like the new kid on the block, but with a
• 0:49
really cool twist. Now you might wonder, what does
• 0:53
Inter Miami even mean? The team's full name is Club in
• 0:57
Ternacionalda Football Miami, but most people just call it
• 1:00
Inter Miami. The Inter part stands for
• 1:03
International, which means people, ideas, and even players
• 1:07
from all over the world come together.
• 1:09
The Miami part, of course, is because the team is based in
• 1:13
Miami, FL, a city famous for its beaches, bright colors, and
• 1:18
lively music. Let's talk about their colors
• 1:20
and logo. If you've seen Inter Miami's
• 1:23
jerseys, you'll notice they're pretty unique.
• 1:26
Their main colors are black, white, and a bright, fun shade
• 1:30
  called pink. That's right, pink.
• 1:33
It's not a color you see on soccer fields every day, but
• 1:36
Inter Miami wanted to stand out and show off Miami's bold,
• 1:40
tropical style. Their logo is just as cool.
• 1:44
Picture 2 elegant herons. Those are tall, graceful birds
• 1:48
standing together with their legs forming the letter M for
• 1:52
Miami. Around them, there's a sun and
• 1:55
rays hinting at Miami's warm, sunny weather.
• 1:58
So the logo is like a secret code telling you about the city,
• 2:03
the team, and even the wildlife. Now let's zoom in on how Inter
• 2:08
Miami was born. The idea for the team started
• 2:11
with a very famous soccer star, David Beckham.
• 2:14
You might have heard of him. He's a former England captain
• 2:17
famous for his amazing free kicks and stylish haircuts.
• 2:21
After his playing days, Beckham wanted to bring his love of
• 2:25
soccer to the United States. He teamed up with other sports
• 2:28
fans and business leaders, and after lots of planning and
• 2:32
paperwork, Inter Miami was ready to shine.
• 2:35
Starting a soccer team isn't as simple as gathering your friends
• 2:38
for a game at recess. It takes a stadium, coaches,
• 2:42
uniforms and lots and lots of practice.
• 2:45
Inter Miami's first home was a stadium in Fort Lauderdale, just
• 2:49
north of Miami. They're also planning to build a
• 2:51
bigger, even cooler stadium in Miami itself.
• 2:55
Imagine a giant playground just for soccer, with thousands of
• 2:58
fans cheering and waving flags. Now let's talk about the
• 3:03
players, the real stars of the show.
• 3:05
Inter Miami's team is made-up of soccer players from all over the
• 3:09
world. Some are from the United States,
• 3:12
while others come from places like Argentina, Brazil, and even
• 3:16
Europe. Just like in school, where you
• 3:18
might have friends from different backgrounds, Inter
• 3:20
Miami's players bring their own special skills and styles.
• 3:24
This mix makes the team exciting to watch because you never know
• 3:27
what creative moves they'll try next.
• 3:30
Here's a fun fact. In 2023, Enter Miami made soccer
• 3:34
history by signing Lionel Messi, who is considered one of the
• 3:37
best soccer players of all time. If you think of soccer as a
• 3:41
superhero story, Messi is like having Superman join your team.
• 3:45
He's won almost every award you can imagine, and fans all over
• 3:49
the world cheer for him. When Messi joined Enter Miami,
• 3:52
the team's game started selling out and people from all over
• 3:56
wanted to see him play in person.
• 3:58
Can you imagine going to a game and seeing a world famous
• 4:01
superstar score a goal right in front of you?
• 4:04
Messi isn't the only famous player to wear the pink and
• 4:07
black jersey. Inter Miami has also brought in
• 4:10
other big names like Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, who
• 4:13
played with Messi in Europe. It's like having an All Star
• 4:16
team right in Miami. But a soccer team isn't just
• 4:20
about the stars. There are coaches, trainers and
• 4:23
lots of people working behind the scenes.
• 4:25
The coach is like the team's teacher, helping players
• 4:28
practice, come up with strategies and work together.
• 4:32
The trainers make sure everyone stays healthy and strong.
• 4:35
And of course, there are the fans.
• 4:38
The people who come to games, sing songs and cheer for their
• 4:41
favorite team. Inter Miami's fans are known for
• 4:43
their energy and creativity. They even have their own chance
• 4:47
in songs. Just like you might have cheers
• 4:49
for your school's teams. Here's another Did you know
• 4:52
moment? Inter Miami's games aren't just
• 4:55
about soccer. Sometimes they feel like a big
• 4:58
party. There's music, dancing, and even
• 5:01
food from all over the world. You might find fans eating Cuban
• 5:05
sandwiches, sipping on tropical drinks or waving colorful flags.
• 5:09
That's because Miami is a city where many cultures come
• 5:12
together, and Inter Miami celebrates that diversity at
• 5:16
every game. Let's talk a little about how
• 5:18
soccer works, just in case you're new to the game.
• 5:21
Soccer, or football as it's called in most countries, is
• 5:24
played with two teams of 11 players each.
• 5:27
The goal is simple. Kick the ball into the other
• 5:30
teams net. But there's a catch.
• 5:32
You can't use your hands, except for the goalkeeper, who can use
• 5:36
their hands to block shots. The field is big, the ball moves
• 5:39
fast and it takes lots of teamwork to win.
• 5:43
In Major League Soccer, teams play against each other from
• 5:46
spring to fall, trying to score points and make it to the
• 5:48
playoffs. The playoffs are like a
• 5:50
tournament at the end of the season where the best teams
• 5:53
compete for the championship. Inter Miami is still a young
• 5:57
team, but with players like Messi and a growing group of
• 6:00
fans, they're already making a big splash in the league.
• 6:03
Here's a fun analogy. Starting a new soccer team is
• 6:06
like planting a garden. At first, you have to prepare
• 6:09
the soil, plant the seeds and water them every day.
• 6:13
It takes time and patience before you see the first flowers
• 6:16
bloom. Inter Miami is still in its
• 6:18
early years, but with each season, they're growing stronger
• 6:22
and more colorful, just like a garden in spring.
• 6:25
Let's dive into another cool fact.
• 6:28
Inter Miami is very active in the community.
• 6:31
The team visits schools, hosts soccer clinics for kids and
• 6:34
helps with local charities. They believe soccer isn't just
• 6:38
about winning games, It's about bringing people together, making
• 6:41
  friends, and helping your neighbors.
• 6:44
That's a lesson we can all remember on and off the field.
• 6:48
Now you might be wondering, why is soccer so popular around the
• 6:51
world? Well, soccer is a game that
• 6:54
anyone can play. All you need is a ball and some
• 6:57
space. It's easy to learn, but there's
• 7:00
  always something new to practice.
• 7:02
Soccer brings people together, whether they're playing in a
• 7:05
park, watching on TV or cheering at a stadium in Miami.
• 7:10
With its sunny weather and love for sports, soccer has found a
• 7:13
perfect home. Inter Miami also has a special
• 7:17
connection with its fans. They have a group called the
• 7:20
Herons, named after the birds and their logo.
• 7:23
These super fans get together before games, March to the
• 7:26
stadium and sing songs to support their team.
• 7:29
It's like having a giant pep rally every time Inter Miami
• 7:33
plays. Let's not forget about the
• 7:35
team's future. Inter Miami is working hard to
• 7:38
find and train young soccer stars in the Miami area.
• 7:41
They have youth teams called Academies where kids learn
• 7:45
  soccer skills, teamwork and sportsmanship.
• 7:48
Maybe one day a kid from Miami will grow up and score a winning
• 7:52
goal for Inter Miami. Before we wrap up, here are a
• 7:55
few you rapid fire. Did you know facts to impress
• 7:58
your friends? Did you know Inter Miamis mascot
• 8:01
is named Heron? Just like the bird in their
• 8:03
logo, he's always dancing and making fans smile at games.
• 8:07
Did you know that Inter Miamis pink color was chosen to stand
• 8:10
out and represent Miamis tropical flowers and sunsets?
• 8:15
Did you know that David Beckham once played for teams in
• 8:17
England, Spain, and the United States before helping start
• 8:21
Inter Miami? Did you know that when Messi
• 8:23
joined Inter Miami, the team's social media accounts gained
• 8:26
millions of new followers almost overnight?
• 8:29
Did you know that Inter Miami Stadium has seats close to the
• 8:31
field so fans can feel right in the middle of the action?
• 8:35
