- 0:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, maybe you could also pull out your phone and uh share the Voices for Voices, podcast, TV show with 25 or 50 of your contacts in your phone.
- 0:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Again, all those are free and they help us get closer and closer to our goal of not only reaching but helping 3 billion people over the course of my lifetime and beyond.
- 0:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Welcome to the Voices for Voices show.
- 0:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I am your host, Justin Alan Hayes.
- 0:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So grateful to have you with us.
- 0:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh I uh I came across a quote uh that I wanted to share um because I think it it will help provide a little bit of clarity, especially on the days where it seems like we're not making any progress, where we're not sure if we're gonna attain our goals, if we're getting closer to our goals, or if we're uh getting behind in our goals.
- 1:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And uh so when I was growing up, one of the artists that uh I'll say was hot at the time, had a lot of a lot of hits on the you know on the the billboard chart.
- 1:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um still not sure how how that all works, how how you get on the the charts if it's sales or now downloads or what anyways so I want to talk about 50 50 cent and I came across one of his uh one of his quotes on uh a social media site uh over over the weekend, and it basically says this.
- 2:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So it's a quote, direct quote from 50 Cent.
- 2:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You can't be inconsistent with the grind.
- 2:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You miss one day and your competition overtakes you.
- 2:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Wow.
- 2:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Is that the truth or is that the truth?
- 2:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I have to say stay consistent with the work, the work ethic, what what we do, uh, might seem like like I said earlier, like we're not getting anywhere, we're not getting close to our goals because we don't feel we don't feel like the goal is getting closer.
- 3:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So if it's an event, it might not feel like, oh my gosh, uh are we gonna be able to pull this off?
- 3:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh we have too many loose ends, too many um vendors that we have to talk with, talk to, negotiate contracts, and it may seem like boring work, and in a way it is.
- 3:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's not glamorous, it's not sexy, it is just work and that event, and this hypothetical example I'm given.
- 3:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The event's not gonna happen if you you or I don't do the work ahead of time.
- 3:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, that some people think that events, shows, plays, movies, what what have you.
- 4:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: They some people think that they just happen, like, oh yeah, well, you know, we just like let's make this video, this movie, let's write this song, let's perform this song, let's have a concert.
- 4:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It doesn't happen like that.
- 4:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's a lot of hard work that goes in to get to that point, and so that's the glamorous part of being on stage or uh publishing a uh a book or a piece of art.
- 4:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and and so we want to as 50 cents as you know, we we gotta keep we gotta keep grinding, and you know, grinding can mean I got a comment from somebody, I don't even know, I have no idea who it is.
- 5:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um and it was probably meant to get a response.
- 5:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I I deleted it.
- 5:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I it didn't have anything to do with uh any anything, uh, and and so it wasn't gonna be of use.
- 5:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I deleted it because it wasn't really appropriate.
- 5:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh you know, when I was growing up, there you know they you know they had clubs, you know, dance clubs, this and and so, you know, kind of like the teenage dance clubs.
- 5:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh there was one, it was called the grind.
- 5:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And and so people when people would stand outside this dance club and just wait sometimes like an hour just to get it, just to get in.
- 6:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh it was very interesting.
- 6:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I spent a lot of Fridays and Saturdays in my teenage years.
- 6:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh let's say younger teenage years.
- 6:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and and so that was like the dancing grinding.
- 6:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What 50 cents referring to is the like the work grinding of like all right, I'm just gonna keep at it.
- 6:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'll keep putting shows together, we're gonna we're gonna keep keep putting uh social media content out.
- 6:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, we're we're going to keep planning and we're gonna execute towards that those plans and those goals.
- 6:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um and again, as he says, if you miss a day, like you miss a day at the gym, it's like that's not a big deal.
- 7:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And it says, well, your competition is going to overtake you.
- 7:19Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah, the gym for me is is more of a well, number one, it's a health thing.
- 7:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and it's so easy not to go.
- 7:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I was thinking yesterday, I think it was yesterday, that because uh we talk about the newness of things, right?
- 7:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: When something's new, it's like, okay, I'm gonna stick to this regiment.
- 7:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But then after a period of time, whatever that is, you know, the the body is like, I don't want to go to the gym, I don't want to go, and it's not hard.
- 8:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It the distance remains the same between, you know, take five minutes to get there.
- 8:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh the only thing that's changed is the thing, you know, what's going on in the mind and the brain, and you know, you have to you have to push through that.
- 8:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, and I think yeah, that quote is the same.
- 8:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's like, you know what, there's gonna be things we don't like to do that were uh, you know, consistency is is gonna be very hard.
- 8:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh you know, we're all gonna go through times where we, you know, gym-wise, we're gonna take an extra day off here and there.
- 8:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But what I've learned is as long as as long as you're going on somewhat of a cadence, whether that's Monday, Wednesday, Friday, whether that's Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, whatever that may be, as long as as long as you're kind of doing that, I mean, that's all anybody can ask for.
- 9:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um and so that's where I'm at.
- 9:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh I'm I I'm not uh I don't want to say I'm overextending myself.
- 9:19Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, but I have a lot of I have a lot of years to uh to catch up uh um with my body.
- 9:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and I'm 44, not 24, so it's uh it's not gonna be the same.
- 9:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh but it with that being said, there's no reason where why I can't go.
- 9:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, um in decent, I guess decent enough health to to be able to go and to do workouts and you know, whether those are you know weight workouts, cardio with my arms, which is actually something that I'm glad that there's an arm cardio where it's just like you're we've done it before, um it's like you're pedaling a bike, but you're pedaling with your arms, you can go front, forward, and then back.
- 10:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um so we want to be, you know, whether it's with our physical body, whether it's our mental body, our spiritual, uh, our spiritual side.
- 10:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, we wanna try to remain consistent.
- 10:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And and if you miss one day, I don't think it's the end of the world.
- 10:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I I don't I don't think it's yeah, I don't think it's the end of the world, like to miss a day.
- 11:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's not saying, oh, if you miss a day, that's that's the end of the world.
- 11:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like it's not the qu the quo is I I think to encourage you during those times when we don't feel like going, we don't feel like doing something because it's boring, it's not fun, or I'm gonna have to you know exert some uh some energy, you know, going to the gym, have to exert energy to pedal a bike, to walk around on a treadmill, to uh do this the stair climber, uh the uh the arm bike that I was referring to.
- 12:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and I think that's the key.
- 12:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I think that's all we can ask of ourselves.
- 12:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I thought I would start out the show um on that because I think it's so true that uh it's easy to stop.
- 12:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's easy to be lazy.
- 12:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm talking from I'm talking about my my laziness.
- 12:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I I've been lazy for twenty about twenty years, maybe seventeen or eighteen years.
- 12:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I remember yeah, yeah, we've talked we've talked about a lot of stuff like that.
- 13:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um, but yeah, I think it I think we just need to find what works for us.
- 13:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, I share my experiences, others share theirs.
- 13:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Whatever works for you, that that's what you do.
- 13:19Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, don't let other people tell you or demand that you have to do this workout or this many days of the week.
- 13:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I I don't at least I'm not a a a person that not anybody famous, I'm not anybody that has these gargantuous tours that they go on.
- 13:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um but all that to be said, I I think we go when we can.
- 14:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And when we can and we and then we do it, we do feel a little bit better.
- 14:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I and I remember when I first started back just a couple weeks ago, just looking at the time that goes by, and it's like, wow, I've been here for 40 minutes, and I haven't thought about any of the extra things that we're working on as an organization and collaborations, and that felt good to me because I was taking some, not all, but I was taking some of some of those thoughts and and kind of putting those on hold.
- 14:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like, okay, right now I'm I'm doing the bench press.
- 15:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I'm getting prepared, I'm getting focused, I'm finding, you know, where the the spots where my hands go, and and so that that part was on my mind at that time.
- 15:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I didn't I didn't have I didn't have space uh for anything else at that time and I think that's the part that felt good felt real good and so you know just keep on at it and we'll see where we're at in a few months and see if I've stuck to the the plan.
- 16:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh yeah, we have this heat wave that's coming through.
- 16:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And and so we just want everybody to be be safe, uh be cool, you know, whether that you know, being indoors, you know, cool by being, you know, air air conditioning fans.
- 16:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, because it's gonna be really, really hot.
- 16:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I wouldn't put it past any anybody that we might hit triple digits here here where we live this week.
- 16:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh so if you're if you're out and about and you know, you're landscaping, you're mowing grass, your walking dogs, whatever whatever takes you outside, uh we just want to make sure everybody's being hydrated and taking breaks.
- 17:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh that's all we that's all we can do.
- 17:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We don't want anybody to fall ill, you know, with heat stroke or anything like like that.
- 17:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah, it's just I reminisce all the time sometimes more than others, and this this past weekend I was reminiscing about my dad and you know he's in heaven and it just it sucks not being able to be with him here on earth You know he was he he was a I don't say a grilling machine, it wasn't a machine, but that's uh that was just something that he liked liked to do.
- 18:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: He he would he would be grilling chicken or ribs or sometimes salmon steaks, stuff, hamburgers, hot dogs, what what have you.
- 18:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that was something he he enjoyed doing and listening to the baseball games or whatever games or sometimes talk shows on the radio and you know every time I every time I go by the uh go by my mama dad's house and stop and spend time, it's uh it's hard.
- 19:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, you're trying to trying to be strong You know, trying to do the best the best we can without being a very important person in our family Yeah it w what what it what it does.
- 19:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah, I talk about in therapy, about grounding, about being present in the moment.
- 20:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And for me, nothing brings me more present in the moment than when I go to my mom and dad's house and my dad's not there in physical body.
- 20:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's my mom.
- 20:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And it's hard.
- 20:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, some people say, Oh yeah, it's easy to get past, or I know everybody's different.
- 20:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I allow, you know, other people to grieve and you know handle things like that they're going through in the ways that they are are going through it.
- 21:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so for me I look at things in that way for me that you know sometimes we have you know, like 50 Cent, you know, we have this grind, you know, we're going we're doing these tasks, we're doing these uh these projects, and it doesn't seem like things are coming to fruition, and then and then we can kind of see a little bit of the ending, the end of the tunnel, and then next thing you know we don't, and and so when you couple that with you know the loss of some somebody so important that sometimes we we take advantage of things because we we we think well this is just the way it's gonna be you know I'm gonna I'm gonna wake up in the morning and and then all these things are gonna be consistent.
- 22:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I mean I missed a lot of things about my dad you know going to the ball games you know that would we would do that just on a whim.
- 22:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Hey you want to go to the game?
- 22:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah let's go kind of thought about this before back when you're able to kind of go to the observation deck at airports that was something that we would I don't know how often we would do it.
- 23:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I can't give like a number but I think that's where my love for traveling excuse me um flying on airplanes you know that's where it came from is because we would be at the observation deck and we would see airplanes you know they would load up the passengers and the at the gate in the terminal you know they'd have the tow motor you know push push the plane back and then it was sl the plane would plane or planes you know would uh work their way to the main runway to take off and then we would see planes that would land too and we wouldn't we really didn't know how how many planes we would see if we would see any but it was just something we were able to kind of bond over you know sports if we were still able to go to the observation decks at airports alive you know we would be doing that and I want to I want to take my daughter but we can't go inside the observation deck we have to we have to find a spot where overhead planes would be taken off or landing depending on the direction of the wind things are just you know life life's hard I think a lot of us know that when when things are going good all the time or majority of the time whether that's a high salary or a title it's high and you're managing people and it's stock options or whatever it's easy to go oh yeah life's easy or it's easier because we're able to make this money we're able to do these things but then once a restructure layoffs come and uh people are looking for new employment it's it's usually only then that people reevaluate not always but people reevaluate where they're at in life if what they've been doing is something that they want to do that's part of what would happen with me the grind could be eight to five or eight to eight or nine to five whatever the boss would say and while that works for a lot of people as you know for me it doesn't sometimes there's calls after five sometimes there's projects sometimes we're putting shows we're dropping shows so we gotta do all the mundane administrative type of work you know finding the title description the hashtags all those things have the highest quality file both for the video and the audio again these things aren't hard and I'm I'm not trying to say that they're hard but that for me that's the grind it's like I can't drop an episode right after I finish filming it like there's a bunch of steps to go into getting an episode ready to roll and dropping it and getting all the links for all the different platforms so it there's a lot to do and that's not the glamorous part people say oh well you have a show and in front of the camera and you're just like boasting and talking look I've been through I've been to don't usually say layers but I you know I've been to hell and back many times it's other people to you want to think that oh it's so so glamorous.
- 29:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh he's got his organization Voices for voices they have all these episodes and all we're doing the same facts we just say we have this many episodes it's nothing wrong with that it's like saying when it's 90 degrees and sunny oh the sun's out or oh the temperature gauge in my car says 90 degrees so it must the temperature must be around 90 degrees that's those types of things but thank you very much for joining us on this episode if you can please give us the thumbs up like follow subscribe share reshare repost and reach into your phone and share the voices for voices podcast wherever you and your context get their podcast let them know about the voices for voices podcast we're just overwhelmed at times how many how many new viewers and listeners we have and uh we wouldn't if it wasn't for you we wouldn't have a show to do so thank you for allowing us to use this and many other platforms to share and to help we're very grateful for how much if you've watched listened to every single episode or if this is your first episode thank you very much for choosing to spend it with us so until next time let's celebrate the voices of everyone and let's be a voice for you or somebody in need.
- 31:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We'll see you next time everybody bye bye.
