- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: If the rich person came first, I would have charged him higher.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_01]: 500.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_01]: And now the rich person paid Dave Shans 5,000.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: How do you think that person feels?
- 0:20[SPEAKER_02]: They see the outside.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_02]: You don't know the expenses.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm on an airplane, like three or four times a week.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's nice.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's nice.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: You make success.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_02]: Look easy.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: People just think it's easy.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: We treat back well like they're portfolio.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't, yes you do.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_01]: I try not to.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: But you don't understand the text until you become that person who can get text.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: So you want to be successful right?
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: Well, there are taxes you have to pay.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I'm not talking about the taxes that the government takes off the income that you make, but there are silent taxes that you have to pay to become successful.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I'm not talking about even millionaires and multi-millionaires.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: When you become successful, there are certain taxes that you have to pay.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, but you don't understand the tax until you've become that person who can get tax.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: It may not make sense to you right now, but by the end of this episode, you're going to see what we're talking about.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: I got some really incredible success will be what I've been taxed for their success today.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: We got joy hunt.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: What up?
- 1:23[SPEAKER_02]: How are you doing?
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: I am absolutely blessed.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: You look good today.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: Well, thank you so much.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: I like to offer you the black and white stripe, but it's not like your stripe.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a styled stripe.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: I like the, how's your week?
- 1:35[SPEAKER_02]: Amazing.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: What qualifies on statement?
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I woke up that continues to bless me, um, my son is doing amazing.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_02]: He actually hurt his finger, but he's doing amazing.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: So I was good.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: Charles knew it.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: What's up, man?
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, sir.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm back.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: I was a week back on the couch.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: It was good.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: It was amazing.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: I launched some bonus classes for, um, the my first property challenge.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: I like to succeed and max out everything I do.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: So I did some bonus.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: Classes before the challenge started and three people got property already got that first piece of land Congratulations Yeah, congratulations.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: That's not the code man Yeah, let me ask okay before we get into the conversation conversation What are your problems?
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: I got some problems right big time.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: You got problems doing What are your problems?
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: What are you doing with?
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: contractors see when you're just starting out in real estate and you got one house and you call a contractor to do a roof for you is cool you get to negotiate price you get the best price because he's trying to get you as a customer but and that roof let's just say $2,000 to replace
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: But when you got 12 properties, and this is your 12th roof, that same contractor is going to charge you $3,600 to do that roof.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: And as a lie, it's almost double.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: The problem is they automatically assume you have money, they assume you got it, they assume you don't want to be
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: enjoying your money, doing whatever you do, God forbid they see your social media, right?
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: They find out you're traveling and everything.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: They're gonna charge you more.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's $3,600 and when I first met the contract, it was $2,000.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: That is a rich tax that it burns me up.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: It really bothers me because
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: I work just as hard as anybody else to acquire the things that I get.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: I sacrifice like crazy.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: And because I made it, I get charged more.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I just question, if you were the roofer and someone that you know didn't have the money.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they're trying to scrape things together.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to house for the kids and they're trying to figure it out.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: And your roofer you would say, I'm going to fix this roofer you.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: And now all you have is $2,000, and they say, okay, I'll fix it for $2,000.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: But if you were the roofer, and you went to another luxurious house for the same work and add a Rolls Royce outside, and they were living in the life that you would like to live.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think you charge?
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: I would charge the same $2,000 in here's wine.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: how you do it.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: Anything is how you do everything.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: My price is my price.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to charge $2,000 because I know for that person to get that rose rice, that person to be successful.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: They are not stupid.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: They're intelligent.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: They're smart.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: They have some level of discipline.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: And this is where people get it wrong.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes they think we're stupid.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes they charge us more and think we don't know.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: The reason we're rich is because we know we monitor our accounts, we monitor our money.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: I monitor every screw, what's made me successful is that I don't get ripped off.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not letting a contract or order 10 pieces of greenboard for a bathroom when it should be for.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: I pay attention.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: So, I know that person is on his piece and cues, whether they act like it or not, because sometimes we just say, hey, how much is it?
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: And we have our card already.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes we might get a bill out of restaurant.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: Don't look at the bill because we're having a conversation, give the card and continue to conversation and don't even look.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't mean when it comes back, we're not going to just cue see it real quick to make sure it was two meals, two drinks, and two desserts, right?
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: We are.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: We don't let things like that go by.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: Here's why I would charge that person $2,000 because I'm under the assumption there's gonna be more business.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: I like to get more business from him.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm gonna give him what my price is and not what I should charge him as if I'm only gonna do business with him one time.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: And here's what people don't understand when they do that to us.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: You've been overcharged, you've been overcharged.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: We don't complain, we don't cry a whole lot about it.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: You know what we do?
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: Don't call them that.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: don't call him.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna pay you.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not gonna complain.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not gonna cry.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not doing none of that.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: You cheated me.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: I know you cheated me.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the money.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just not gonna use you again.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, joy.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: There's someone who, what area of law did you study?
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: Business law.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: Small business owners struggling to stay open and they need some contracts drawn up or they're going to lose their business and you say, well, this is the amount that I charge.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: And somebody else comes in who is a multi multi millionaire and they're familiar with the prices that people charge as an attorney to do the same work, the charge is the same amount or different.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I would either, I would charge to say I'm out after the ups of them on another, another service I have that I feel like that, that they need.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's good.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's good.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_02]: That's not.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: Cavity.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: What you got a sliding outwardly scale?
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: What you was was different stuff because I think what she's saying is this person can afford the bare minimum.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: but somebody who has it understands maybe the different levels of protection.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, correct.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_02]: Because what this is a need isn't what business be need.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: So when this is be comes and asking for one thing, sure you can get that, but you probably are missing out on this, this and this.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like the roof or make them out to you.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: Or do you're going to offer them less services?
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to service their business less, even though they both have the same needs as a business owner.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: Because you're under the assumption they can't afford more.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: You don't offer them more.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_02]: No, he said that there's two different businesses and ones making more money, the one that's making more money is going to have more other issues more concerns.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_02]: If a person is just getting started not making a lot of money, they may not have a lot of employees.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: They may not have asked them, I mean, I have other things.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: If someone is more successful, they have more things that have to be protected.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: So I would mention the other things that I know this person has, the person aid doesn't have it.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: got it.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: Here's my only challenge because from this perspective, we understand, I don't know I don't know how true it is because we're not in that seat.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: Now, when I'm selling T-shirts, the T-shirt, I never charge someone more money for the same T-shirt.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think it deals with your character and your integrity.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_02]: If you are a get over kind of a person, you're just a get over kind of a person.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: But if you are a person of your word, you're a person of your word.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: Like Charles said, you're going to give the person of your word more business.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_02]: For example, I've had two different housekeepers, right?
- 9:11[SPEAKER_02]: One housekeeper, every single six months, it's just
- 9:14[SPEAKER_02]: the price keeps going up and up.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm looking, it's the same house.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's the same laundry, it's the same thing, right?
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: But then, okay, make like, you just, just go.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_02]: Another housekeeper, same price.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: So, I'm gonna give you a ball.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna add, hey, well, besides doing my house, let's do my salons.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: Let's do this piece.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_02]: I respect the fact that you respect my money.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_02]: When you have that, I'm trying to get over what you're failing to realize is you're actually closing your opportunity because you're trying to hit a lick versus, I wanna have a relationship what else can come from this venture, not just hit it once.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: not, and I feel that.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard, it's hard because I understand human nature and how people operate.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: So if somebody tries to charge me more, I understand it because it's more valuable to me.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: I get it.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm staying.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, could we could we just circle back on one thing?
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: Joy, high five to the housekeeper thing.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: I give a message to the housekeepers or house keepers, please stop increasing your price, especially on the deep cleaning.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: Because we know you just did a deep cleaning a month ago or the last time, please don't charge that deep cleaning fee over and over again, like just for more money.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: We really pay attention to every little penny that goes out of the house.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't even been in like this.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just say the house in Westchester County.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't even there and then I got charged for a deep cleaning again I'm like, I wasn't The next what I was in Brooklyn.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's not a that's not another deep like we didn't you just declined it But housekeepers please stop doing that because we hate to change housekeepers I have a housekeeper that puts my stuff where I could actually find it when you get a new housekeeper They put your stuff where you cannot they put your stuff
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: where they think it belongs, am I right?
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: Would you, I really think that's who lost my Apple Watch, bro?
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: They put things where I came from.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I've been, we got my Apple Watch for like a week now.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, where is this watch?
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: And the last Apple tracking was at my house.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I just can't find it anywhere.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: So you probably put it somewhere.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: I safe.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: I can't find it.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry, guys.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's Friday.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: I had to get that off my chair.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: I had to have a slide.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just continuing.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: I forgot where else that would.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, but anyway, I understand it.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: I understand.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: You understand why should you get charged more.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I should be charged more, but I'm saying I understand my relationship The more you take care of me the more business.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to get the more I'm going to take care of you.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you're going to do.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to give me the question now.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm asking this.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: There's a videographer.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: So when I was working at the Cheesecake Factory, she says, oh my god, I'm sorry.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's on the minute.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: But I shot a music video for him.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sorry.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I was shooting low music videos.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: For a couple of my friends, and I charge them whatever they were gonna give me.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm probably offered a number, they said, okay, cool, and I probably offered that number because I knew where they were.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: Now, if a bigger artist was wanting to shoot a video, I'm not gonna charge them the same.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I think, I don't think, back then, my mind, I'm just going to be honest with my mind and back then.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_02]: I understand it.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: But I think your price should be the price.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think you should change your pricing based on what you think somebody could afford.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: But here's the thing, I charged, I charged the first person when I thought they could afford.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: If I thought this person could afford,
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's not, it's not like I have a sheet like a barber shop where haircut's 50 dollars, line up, it's not like that, it's like, you know, a movie video?
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm charging you, I think you can pay me.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: So if the rich person came first, I would have charged him higher.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: So let me ask you this, how do you think the rich person feels?
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: when he says, hey, bro, you use shans.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: I could tell that shans work because the lighting, everything is fire.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, bro, how much do you charge you?
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: All 500.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: And now the rich person paid Dave shans by 1,000.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: How do you think that person feels?
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, listen, I'm on the other side of it now.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: But what I'm saying is, but I was there.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_00]: I understand.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: I can't act like I don't understand what's going on because maybe my price is my price because I've been servicing people at that price.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: But I want to charge them more, it's ain't got the money.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what I would do because I'm just like such a man of integrity.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: I would do a joy then.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: I would say, bro, it's going to be $5,000 for the video, but I'm going to give you the clips.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to give you the smoke, whatever it's called, the smoke machine, right?
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to add on some stuff to justify the difference and pricing.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: I can't, I won't feel comfortable.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: charging one person to 2,000 and at another person like 6,000.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: I just won't feel, I mean, I didn't get the chance to run with it.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: Shoot a music video for like a successful person, yeah.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: But.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm almost positive.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: I would have charged more.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because I would have, only because, and I think the way some of them, and I'm not justified in this, right?
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: Where, okay, I need a haircut.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: And then I come in and it's last minute.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: If I'm one of your clients and you know, you're there for the day, it's like, all right, I charge you, you know, whatever, fidget hours for the cut.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: But if someone successful comes in at the same time of closing,
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, this is my after hour charge.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_00]: So you gotta pay it because I know you'll pay it.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying it's right because it happens to me.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes not often because I don't think people look at me as like the money guy like that, I just look cool.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: But I can't act like I don't understand where it's coming from.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: You get what I'm saying?
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: So because, and from this perspective, I don't know if you go join, sorry.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: From this perspective, the first person
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: I alone hear this is I only get to what I want to charge this a difference and we have to pay this tax to doing services for our friends right that's a text so you're doing that first video for your friend the other for a customer if you had two artists and you charge them different that will be questionable but your boy from the cheesecake factory
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: an artist that who got a deal and you assume has a budget, differentiating the price there is a thing because we have to pay what I call a loyalty tax, which is our friends and family that want everything free.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: They want land for free, they want a house done for free, they want to get into the events for free, they want everything for free.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: So do you pay that like loyalty tax to people that you know like you and loyal if I can't like Oh, join give me a boy guys.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, I call that the loyalty tax.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: I feel that or you're gonna say me.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: I was gonna say um
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think it just comes with, I agree, it just comes with it.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_02]: And when I call for a pricing on something, it's one thing.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_02]: When I was married, we had this huge home when they pull up, and they see the gate and the late, the price immediately triples.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, on the phone, you just said, but I think it's just, it is what it is.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I want to go through some more taxes.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you know what they say?
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: What?
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's the insurances I have to pay for breaks up, like, but is that valid?
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, no scenario.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: There is a 1990
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: Honda Accord outside, and then you have a Mercedes, Mercedes, a nice Mercedes, not a maybe, but it's a nice Mercedes, right?
- 17:16[SPEAKER_00]: And you have a car wash.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: He charged in both the same?
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: Why?
- 17:24[SPEAKER_02]: because I think the murder, well, I'm not a car person, but I think the Mercedes is going to require, like maybe a different cloth, so you don't mess up with the... Nope.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_00]: Nope.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: Not that car, that car was, isn't...
- 17:38[SPEAKER_00]: They're not going in the back, I hold on.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: Let me go get the other cloth.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're all right.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that you had to have some kind of special cloth, because no.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's why they're going to charge your board because you think you got that got a special cloth.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_02]: Best of cloth is the same cloth.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think the expectation of the client is going to be different.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: So the person in the 1990 Honda may not be looking at every single crevice where the person the Mercedes is, if they're a car person, they're looking at everything.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think the time and labor to get that clean versus the 1990 Honda would be different.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_02]: So there would be needing to be a different charge.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, okay.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_02]: I just has leather inside versus the 1990 Honda Providence and have leather inside, you know, we have, you know, a nice, a nice, what's the, not the black magic.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: What's you put on on the dashboard and make it all shiny and all.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so I think there's more to do on the Mercedes than the 1990.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: And here's how I'm literally just playing an advocate for the people who are getting a bad rap for chart.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: Now I do think it's unethical.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_00]: in some scenarios, but I understand.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not saying y'all just come charge me more because I just don't pay it.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'm that person.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just right.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm cool.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm gonna call a bunch of people.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_00]: And whoever has the best price with the same quality, that's right.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not mad at it.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: I want the universal price chart.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why I don't dress like super fancy and I really don't like to draw fancy cars that I have because people treat you different and I don't like it.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be treated like everybody else.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be treated just like.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: I go get to a 90 90 90 hundred court.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: No, I use the cars when I need them.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: I know the purpose of that, but I can literally drive anything.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just like car so I can drive any car doesn't matter.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: I literally like being treated or you know what I really like, I like to see how people treat.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_01]: me when they don't have an idea of the assets that I have.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_01]: So somebody who had owed us $1,400 pieces of land, he's building a city in Birmingham.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: They automatically treat me a certain way.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_01]: I want to know and be around that person who is just like, oh, that's my boy Charles.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's the interaction I really yearn for, like, just
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: Don't treat me like what my portfolio says.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: Let me see how you really just interact with tall, ball head guys.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's impossible.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: I try it though, but you don't do that to other people.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: I try to treat everybody the same.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: We treat back well like they're forful of you.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you do.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: I try not to.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't believe I do.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, look, if you found out that a person shot three people, you treat them like they're forful of you.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: So here's why I could defend that.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: I got people fresh out of jail in my community buying properties and I'm helping them the best they if they serve their time and they can't They serve their time.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: They're they're benefiting you.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_00]: But you join they join the community.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: So, yes, you're serving.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: No, I do a turkey dry bro in the end of
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: the hood of the hood is the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of the hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of hood of
- 21:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like, oh, let's just say, oh, no, it's just, it's the same.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's not the same, Joe.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what I'm talking about.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care if you're a straight person.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_00]: And that's it.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: And that's it.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_00]: So let's go through some more taxes.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I was going to go through a different tax.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_00]: But I like, I want to stay on that loyalty tax.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's big, man.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_00]: Which, okay, the loyalty tax of you have friends, you do things for friends that you wouldn't do things for other people.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's the texture you're talking about.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I grew up with you.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, or hey, they say this.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I knew you when you, when you didn't have nothing.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: So that, that, like, what does that mean?
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not that person anymore.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: Is that, like, like, you really, like, that doesn't mean anything.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: Just because you knew me when I was broke and we shared chicken wings together and Chinese food, right?
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: And we drank out of the same
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: We did him when you this high and basketball, but you are side you There's a such thing that they call a waterfall.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: We'd be like let me get a waterfall Are you waterfall somebody?
- 22:36[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, yeah, you're right.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_00]: All right, yeah, stay back.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_00]: They've been rich for a long time They've been rich for so long.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: He forgot about his broke happy none of our out thought it was like you Swig that joy and did pass them so I never did that all right, so what that a waterfall Waterfall that way.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but that wasn't the picture I had
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I see his racist is coming out.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: What rock has he but under?
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: All right, no, bro, they think that that means something.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: today.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I know you.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate you for who you are, but that doesn't mean I now have to give $5,000 because you want to do your first book bag draw.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't mean I have to let you in my event for free because you want to fly to it when the ticket is $1,500 but $600 is cost for renting the place, security, food, tours.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like just because you know
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: doesn't mean that you just get carte blanche to everything that I have and they play on the motions that we have from being successful and making it.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: and they just harp on those strings like yeah bro, like don't act like that and you can't act brand new, you gotta pick up your phone every single ring, you can't be busy no more, right?
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know you can't, right?
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: And that's just a tax that I wish we're going away.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, give me your thoughts on that.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna have to second that.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_02]: I would say friends, I would also add family in that.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_02]: They see the outside.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: but you don't know the expenses, you don't know what I got coming up, you don't know that I'm having to cover expenses for multiple people so I got to kind of I can't just give give if I give to everybody that I'm going to have I'm going to be without but is the expectation of oh can you donate here?
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: oh can you find me here?
- 24:29[SPEAKER_02]: oh can you just do it because you have it and it that I think that's where it draw it that that's where it kind of makes that
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: When I can do it, I'll do it, but don't expect it all the time.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: And when you are a successful people expect you just to give me your connect for free, do this for me for free, let this in for free, pay for this and it's like, hey, I can't keep doing all this.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_02]: If I spill my money, I don't want to be broke.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_00]: Here's my next, uh, tax, the expectation tax, so to your point.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think becoming successful, people expect you to be successful and to always win.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_00]: So when you don't, and maybe it's just me, I feel the expectation that everything I touch is turning into goal and it doesn't.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: And done.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: So the expectation of how big I'm supposed to be building my business or building my brain or like,
- 25:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I feel uncomfortable with that because like I was talking to a guy on the day.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, man, I had the money you had, but I'm like, what about this one?
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I know this one makes me cringe.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: It must be nice.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: It must be nice.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: It must be nice.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: It must be nice.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: It must be nice to what.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: That discredits everything you've done to get where you are, saying it must be nice.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they forget about that you didn't go to any of the parties and cook out last year.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: They forget about
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: that you didn't watch even the NBA in your city, your city won the NBA championship and you only saw three games and you're a basketball junkie.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: They don't take into consideration the sacrifice it takes when people say, oh yeah, it must be nice.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: It must be nice to have three places.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: It must be nice to have like do.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't watch football, I love football for three years.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know who's on what team basketball.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: I know like the next, I know like three players, and I'm a New York City basketball junkie.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: They don't see the sacrifice that goes into making it.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: And they just still say things like, oh, yeah, it must be nice.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: You get to do XYZ.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think the problem is when you make success look easy, people just think it's easy.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: They don't see the behind the scenes.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_02]: They don't see the bird.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_02]: And they don't see the sacrifices, the late nights, the times when you lost it and you barely got it back.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_02]: They don't see all that.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_02]: So on the outside,
- 27:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's just like, it just happened.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_02]: You just had a podcast a couple of years ago and now you're a success.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: No one saw all of the years.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like when I heard just story that you worked with, she said, I was just like, bitch, there's no way you were a waiter at the cheeset, but I met you in this chapter.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_02]: So a lot of times people just see the success but they don't understand the other side.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_02]: Let's be nice.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_00]: Let me ask this joy, too.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: What part of your life or your story do you think people that meet you now don't understand when they see you?
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what do you wish that they can understand before they start to engage with you before they judge who you are?
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I was that they would understand that I think they hear my story, but they don't really understand like all of the sacrifice that I make like now, you know, I'm saying like, I'm I'm traveling everywhere, like it's, you know,
- 28:16[SPEAKER_02]: like, oh my god, like your life is so exciting.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_02]: Everyone knows you.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm on an airplane, like three four times a week.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I'm having to pay for all these resources to make sure that my son is good.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm having to miss out on a lot of things because I'm everywhere.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think I understand
- 28:31[SPEAKER_02]: what it takes to show up or be on a zoom till one to the make sure every mentors question is answered or to be able to hire a team and that team starts stealing from you like it's it's a lot that goes on to being online and being a success that people don't really understand.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_02]: and so it's not all strawberries and rainbows.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's a lot of sacrificing.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's a lot of being selfless and I think that people don't really understand that.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, when you say like, yeah, I'm traveling.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm on a flight for it.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, there's somebody that's sitting at Target right now in the
- 29:12[SPEAKER_00]: I love that much.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_00]: I love that much.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_00]: Be nice.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_00]: Be nice.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: Be nice.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: Joy wants to be at her son's game.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's saying that as a parent, as a parent, in the stands, what I had on her just in just clapping.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about the privacy text, especially when you're on social media and you're your vocal and you're out there, right?
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: How would you describe the privacy tax that you have to pay in meeting your life is not your own anymore at some point?
- 29:45[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 29:50[SPEAKER_02]: Number one, I think you're a topic, like your views, I can, in the comments, if they don't, they're going to come for you.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_02]: To now that you're known, like, I can't just walk in the air, but I can't just walk anywhere that someone's stopping me.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_02]: And if I'm busy, like, I'll be on the phone, and now people will run up to me by understanding.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_02]: I can't just shut them off because this is this person's one interaction.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_02]: I have to stop them.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, I'm on the phone, hi, all of my son's kids know me because, you know, they're on TikTok and they all follow me.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: So, mom, they call you the, the, the baddie mom and my friends are on TikTok.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_02]: So it's kind of like, when you're known, you, there, there is no, I just get to be by myself, because you never know where you're going to be, but someone's going to meet you and you have to stop, I feel.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: and give them that same.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_02]: Hi, how are you, a hug, a picture of this?
- 30:46[SPEAKER_02]: All right, all right girl, you have to give them that because they're the ones who support you, but it is tiring.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_02]: It is draining and people are always going to want more from you.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_02]: And so it comes to that battle where in a mind you, I'm not Beyonce.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_02]: So yes, I can talk to everyone, but it is draining.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: And especially as you continue to grow to brand and because more and more so I'm super extroverted so obviously I still Maybe I'll still battle Was it all imposter syndrome?
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: I still be so I'll be excited like really
- 31:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know me.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: I promise.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be like, oh, man, I'll sit here and talk to you.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: Let's do it.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_00]: Now, some talk every now and again, you could be like on the way to the flight in a snack.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_00]: I got to tell you the story.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, I got to remember that this is, this is the person that made me.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what I get so frustrated with people who,
- 31:42[SPEAKER_00]: spend their whole lives trying to be a celebrity and then you correct.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_00]: And where dark glasses, you know, hoodie and try to hide from the world.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_00]: But this is what you wanted.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I will bring my son to certain events because it's very important that my son sees what the work is.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_02]: And so before I get there, I'd be like, listen here.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_02]: We welcome this room.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_02]: People are going to know you because I speak about you.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_02]: You need to get by a contact because he wants to be like,
- 32:07[SPEAKER_02]: One, I'm like these people are paying for your robot and your electric bikes when they come in you better smile and say hello Yes, man, blah, blah, blah, so you are gonna have to give away a part of you when you are in the line light That's just a part of what it is.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_02]: So when you go to Birmingham.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure ever.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's tough for me in Birmingham for sure because it's a small city and I think was Gary V. Who said you most people should start marketing locally and you can be a hero in your local city So I took the initiative to build Birmingham so I literally can't go into like any bureaucratic office and they don't know me
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: because I've had so many exchanges of deeds, so many deeds have my name on them.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody knows who Charles Newton is and Birmingham Pro-Bate Quart, like the tax court, the assessment.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: Most people in Birmingham,
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: know me for like the conferences that I've done or my real estate portfolio.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: So that makes it a little bit difficult because again I'm like you said you're an extrovert.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm more of an introvert.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to be like like everybody like normal like everybody else.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: and it's hard in Birmingham.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: So honestly for that reason, particularly, I don't really stay there.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of go there and then I'll piggyback and just drop to Mississippi to go hang out with my son in school or I'll come to I'll go to either Miami or New York.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really stay because it is a bit overwhelming a little bit because some people don't like me.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: because I'm a New Yorker, right?
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm tall, I talk fast, I smile, everything's PG claim because they see it what they see on social media.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: So I go there, some may look at me as I'm changing their city.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm changing the culture, some people in the south, just want to be how they are.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: they don't want new houses, they don't want new people, they don't want all this change.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: So I understand it, and I'm really like touch and go, and it does cost me more money to hire more people to be the face of the work that I do there.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: So my builder, I don't really build, I have to hire a builder to go there and do a daily task.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really know them.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think I enjoyed it again.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like,
- 34:38[SPEAKER_00]: ever really get burnt out and this is what really helped me and this is like I was this years ago, I mean nobody like knew who I was at that time nobody else right now but like on a small skill right people know so I mean kind of but I'm walking with E.T.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_00]: Eric Thomas, and like, I forgot where we were, but every few steps.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we couldn't really go anywhere.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, I'll walk a little bit.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, E.T.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_00]: in this pictures, and then people see, Tim taking the pictures, like, oh, as E.T.s a more people come.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_00]: And it was a lot.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: It was a lot before we got to our destination.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, E, do you get tired of that?
- 35:20[SPEAKER_00]: He said never.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, eh, yes you do bro, he's like, no, I never get tired of it.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_00]: He said, I was homeless.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_00]: Correct, I was homeless, and that continues to run in my mind that it was the people that want to take pictures right now, that allowed me to have the name and the lifestyle that I have, so you can't really get upset with the people who gave you what you said you wanted.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, in my mind, he said, I'll sit near and take, I'll take every picture, I will smile
- 35:53[SPEAKER_00]: And again, this is me watching it thinking he's lying at the time and like, come on now.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_00]: But like, as I've been able to develop and build my brain, it rings in my mind.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this is who made me.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_00]: This is who am I.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I appreciate it.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: And the only time it gets like the hellows and high and trials and all that stuff.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_00]: Which introverted to it the same time.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I do appreciate it.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: I do appreciate it.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: But if a couple of times it's made a little bit uncomfortable, like I'm having dinner, what we're on the date, we're like, we're getting our time in Somalia, say something like high was up, great, cool, did you get whatever, right?
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: We have the conversation and then like they take it to another level or another like they want to keep going and I'm like, damn bro, like I'm here with my lady, like, right?
- 36:44[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I understand that though.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: For the more
- 36:51[SPEAKER_01]: But I wish there was like a cut-up like two minutes.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like you see somebody know a social media on the date with a lady or with their kids like at a basketball game.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm just being a dad right now.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to be in the corner as a dad.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: So my son knows yo, my dad is Epicator.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I want to do.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: and then like these combos and then he might be in a game and I'll be like, yeah, like, like I'm just a dad right now.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_00]: I just have to just dad and write that.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_00]: I wanna know if y'all experienced this text, the comparison text, comparison text, is no matter how far you've come, success exposes you to greater success.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_00]: And you see people on a higher level,
- 37:41[SPEAKER_00]: and you start to compare yourself to them, especially if they have a bigger bread or a more successful and maybe not as skilled, the y'all ever deal with the comparison tax.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to say yes.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_02]: because whenever you're exposed for me and if I'm exposed to something else, I'm like, oh, well, I need to have that.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_02]: They are smarter than me than me, but I need it.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_02]: So if you don't pay attention to and patch yourself on the back for coming to where you are, it's easy to get caught up in.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not doing enough.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_02]: And then you can go into overworking zone.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 38:21[SPEAKER_02]: I like to try to keep a guardrail on it like, okay, do I hold on, like pack yourself in the back?
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: You accomplish this, but I'm also going for that next go.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: So I think I can never be content.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_02]: I can never just take a break.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'm coming from, I lost it and I got it back.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: I can never lose it again.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_02]: So...
- 38:43[SPEAKER_02]: comparison.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but I like I wouldn't say so much comparison versus if they can do it.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_02]: I definitely can do it.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_00]: So you never felt yourself like really it's someone that's crushing it.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: And you feel the anxiety wanting with someone else has an or status or the level or whatever.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_02]: Now when say anxiety, I would say that it motivates me to work even harder.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_00]: not hate a little bit because I think I've had some some low from me and I just low hate like yeah not I mean not in a not a long standing way but it's like I should be I should be if they could do it I know I could do it not even in a motivating way it's almost hanging is is hanging a little bit and you spend your time trying to
- 39:33[SPEAKER_00]: be like or accomplish the things they've accomplished and that plays on your mind maybe I'm not maybe I'm the only one, but I've experienced it.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_02]: I believe that.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_02]: You are you and can't no one do it like so whatever you do that's you right I can't if I try to be like they've a chance I'm gonna suck but can't no one be joint huh so I'm gonna take a little I like how you do x y I'm gonna add x y to my will mix I'm gonna take it to a so I love seeing people doing more It just it just inspires me to keep going so I can never hate cuz I feel like I'm gonna do it better than you cuz I'm
- 40:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'm joy.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_02]: You can't, you know, so I, to meet and motivate me.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_02]: So I love being in circles with people doing more because it inspires me to add something here and takes up in there than now.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: I need once I see it, I know I can go get it because if you got it, I definitely can get it.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_00]: Charles, you ever experienced that?
- 40:29[SPEAKER_01]: We came up with a new taxing growth sometimes.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: Finance Fridays, I think we came up with a new term.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_01]: What's that?
- 40:35[SPEAKER_01]: Joy be joy.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: Joyce that kid nobody do it like me.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: No, I do it like me.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: No, um, um, I'll say this.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm I didn't spend a whole lot of time on social media before I started teaching so when I see other people it really inspires me
- 40:56[SPEAKER_01]: I've never had any like envy or hate.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: I got on so late.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, so that's what they're doing.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: So podcast, something got 1,500 people.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Dave, like 800.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, oh, sorry.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so sorry.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so sorry.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get it correct.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: Get it correct.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: It inspires me.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm the type of person because I've learned from people it made so much money.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be asking, Dave,
- 41:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like Dave, I'm not doing this right, like you had 1800.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to get a thousand, like what are I got to do?
- 41:30[SPEAKER_01]: I've asked Dave for like I asked anybody.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_01]: I never, it just all inspires me.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_01]: And I know that regardless the amount of people that other people might have at their events, the amount of followers or clients on their VIP, it doesn't impact what I could do.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: People that spend money at one event are the same people that could spend money at my event.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: There's no lack of people.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_01]: People that buy ones will buy twice.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: So there's an opportunity to get the same amount of people and more.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_01]: So I never look at it as comparison.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_01]: I look at it as just inspiration.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: I get very inspired and then I do try to create things to make it better.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_01]: So so I see some lead.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I'm going to use that.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to put this on top of it.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: And it inspires me.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: You all like every African American influencer that has a program or does things similar to what we do coaching and consulting online.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: You guys all inspire me.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_00]: The identity text, and I do with this one really bad, where you accomplish something so big and great that your identity is wrapped up in what you do and not who you are.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_00]: having to keep up with the person that people identify you as instead of a person maybe don't deal with it as much as I used to but like I'm not
- 43:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not who people label me as.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a person, right?
- 43:19[SPEAKER_00]: But build a successful business.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_00]: You have to close the identified yourself with the identity of the thing that you're building because that's how people respect you, right?
- 43:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I just want to know if you ever had to experience that where you want to separate yourself from what you do.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: Well, for me,
- 43:42[SPEAKER_01]: I am like what I do.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: My identity is, I'm a real estate developer.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: Real estate is my life.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really separate the two.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: There's very little separation.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_01]: I wake up thinking about real estate.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_01]: I go to bed thinking about it.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: I wake up thinking about how can I serve people better.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: When things go bad, I think about how can I do it better?
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that's just like I I'm living in my purpose doing what I meant to do so there's very little separation in the between the two Mm-hmm.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_00]: Enjoy
- 44:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think on these acts, I'm like, I know who you're seeing online.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_02]: Come on.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_02]: Please see online is really me.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not changing anything.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_02]: So when people meet me, when people meet me, I'm like, oh my God, you're really beautiful in real life.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, yeah, the person on camera, oh my God, you're so cool.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_02]: The person you're seeing on camera is really me.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not pretending.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_02]: whether we're at the country club or at the GZ concert and I'm turned up knowing every single word like this is who I am.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_02]: So who I am on social media is me and so I believe and being authentic.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_02]: I am authentically me.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_02]: So what you see is what you get.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I never told anybody this.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think, but I want to start dressing like Charles.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_00]: Really?
- 45:04[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe not like Charles, but I want to
- 45:08[SPEAKER_00]: have like a more elevated look like slacks maybe I don't know how comfortable I'll be every day I don't know I just it's like I'm getting older I think it's a cool advisor look
- 45:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think for development, people take me serious when I dress this way and in certain spaces, how you dress matters, right, and people just take you serious, you need more trust where the based on the way you dress.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: If I showed up to a developer meeting, well, I could
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: in my running clothes.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't believe I would be taken the same way.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: However, I really want to show up in my running clothes.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: I want to wear a cut-off shirt running shorts as some air zooms that are super comfortable, but that just won't go over the way that it just won't be taken that seriously.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_00]: Me too, but it's not, um, I just, I mean, what do you want to do?
- 46:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's not really looking up your lower your dress nice.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Dave, I'm leaving this hair for you, bro.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_00]: We don't want to say something, baby.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_00]: We might, would you wear 42 long?
- 46:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm 42 long.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, bro, hi, air high five, bro.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_01]: Bro, can I say something that I've never said before?
- 46:27[SPEAKER_01]: That testament to joy.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: She really is who she is.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_01]: So here's this, can I tell a quick story?
- 46:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_01]: So we're at Essence, right?
- 46:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I didn't get, I'm not asking Joyce permission to say this story.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_01]: We're at Essence.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how we ended up communicating that we're both going to be at Essence.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: Or actually it was through her clothes, one of her clothes friends, right?
- 46:52[SPEAKER_01]: So she's like, yeah, Joyce going to be there.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like, cool, we actually come to this party.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_01]: So, Joy's like, all right, tell me about it.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_01]: I sent her pictures from last year.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's a huge party.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, Joy, everybody in New Orleans is gonna be at this party.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_01]: You should know about it.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: She's like, yeah, I heard whatever.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I got her and her friend Tickets, right?
- 47:12[SPEAKER_01]: We know Joy as Joy be joined online.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody know who Joy hunt is.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: She's going to come in, dance in, pop in it, extract, pop in it, right?
- 47:23[SPEAKER_01]: So Joy comes up to this section.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, we got a, let's just a little small table type of section, little couches, whatever, right?
- 47:30[SPEAKER_01]: We actually did the swag surf dance together.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_01]: This is at me, her, my friends, and her friends.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_01]: It was like a group of us.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: We were swagging and surfing.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_01]: But here's the funny thing.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: I bought them or bought her friend.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to say unnamed a bottle.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't drink.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think joy drinks, but I'm like, you know, we're in a section.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_01]: You got to have bottles anyway.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like, yeah, I want something.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: Her friend says, yes, we're not going to say others, but friends today, right?
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: The friend says, yes, I'm like, hey, the whole bottle's for you because I don't drink joys like it.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't you don't drink.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so we're like, hey, here's the whole bottle, right?
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: So we have fun.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_01]: We swag surfing middle of the party.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_01]: If if I got joy at the party, like she's a little bit of my responsibility.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like, hey, you good.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: I have a senior to wild.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: Where'd y'all go?
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: Some about to leave, because I don't really stay too long, right?
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: So I go downstairs and I'm like, then, like, I hope they're good.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like, where did they go?
- 48:46[SPEAKER_01]: I see joy or stage go crazy in front of thousands.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like going crazy, let's say, I'm looking at my face right now.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_00]: I can't be locked down in a section about it.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_02]: I can't be locked.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_02]: But my PR, Ebony had Ebony got me to take it also.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_02]: And she's on the stage.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_02]: So of course, I'm about to be, where is Liz?
- 49:08[SPEAKER_02]: So Ebony's on the show.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_02]: Ebony's on the show.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Ebony's on the show.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: She's like, you made these and most ratchet as a client.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, I probably didn't.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_01]: Enjoy me join is who you see it real life like she really is just like a wealth of knowledge A ball of fun.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_01]: She really does get a pop in a real life.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_01]: She has a whole club mouth opens looking on stage.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_01]: What like who is that?
- 49:37[SPEAKER_00]: love it, man.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_00]: Thank y'all.
