A woman from Pike County, Pamela Denise Sargent, received a 45-year federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to producing child pornography — including disturbing videos of toddler-aged children — which she uploaded and sent to a man in Missouri. Despite her defense arguing for leniency based on her low IQ and fear of the man, the judge handed down the maximum sentence, calling it a “profound betrayal” of society’s duty to protect children.
