Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Richard Sherman Podcast. Week 7 reaction video.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Hit that like and sub button if you're new. This
- 0:12Speaker 1: has been an incredible weekend of football. And like you
- 0:17Speaker 1: said earlier, Mitchell, there is parody in the National Football League.
- 0:21Speaker 1: The San Francisco 49ers fall. There are no longer... three
- 0:27Speaker 1: undefeated teams in the National Football League. There's only one.
- 0:30Speaker 1: And I know the Minnesota Vikings fans will remind us
- 0:32Speaker 1: of that in the comments section. But how did you
- 0:36Speaker 1: feel like today went? Obviously, your Detroit Lions won. The
- 0:39Speaker 1: San Francisco 49ers lost, as you predicted. Mitchell Eisenstein, ball knower.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Certified ball knower, Richard. Mitchell Eisenstein, I appreciate that certification
- 0:50Speaker 2: coming from you, a fellow ball knower. Richard, we had
- 0:54Speaker 2: a treat of games, especially in the late hour. The
- 0:57Speaker 2: Seattle Seahawks taking on the Kansas City Chiefs. This could
- 1:01Speaker 2: be a Super Bowl matchup down the road. Seattle looks
- 1:04Speaker 2: like their old selves of last year, dominant defensively, holding
- 1:09Speaker 2: Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs just at 213
- 1:12Speaker 2: yards offensively. Wow, what a win for the Seattle Seahawks. Richard,
- 1:17Speaker 2: your thoughts on this ballgame?
- 1:19Speaker 1: Well, what a game for Sam Darnold. And I know
- 1:21Speaker 1: Seahawks fans are going to say it wasn't perfect, that interception,
- 1:24Speaker 1: what was he thinking? And I'm going to tell you what,
- 1:26Speaker 1: as somebody who has quite a bit of trauma of
- 1:29Speaker 1: goal line interceptions, like real bad trauma, like, you know,
- 1:33Speaker 1: keeps me up at night, I was just as frustrated
- 1:38Speaker 1: as you guys were. If that was a chance for
- 1:40Speaker 1: them to take a 17-0 lead, the route concepts, Shahid,
- 1:46Speaker 1: and Jackson Smith and Jig were running into each other.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I mean, it was just an entire cluster. Can I
- 1:53Speaker 1: say that? It was a bad deal in the interception,
- 1:58Speaker 1: the return. Thankfully, the Kansas City Chiefs missed that field goal.
- 2:02Speaker 1: The defense deserves a ton of credit. I mean, they
- 2:05Speaker 1: were all over the place in this game. They did
- 2:07Speaker 1: a great job on Kenneth Walker III. They held him to,
- 2:11Speaker 1: I want to say, 26 yards on 14 carries. or
- 2:17Speaker 1: 36 yards on 14 carries, never getting a run longer
- 2:20Speaker 1: than seven yards. And with the record-setting season he's had,
- 2:24Speaker 1: I'm sure John Snyder was really excited about that, Mike McDaniel,
- 2:28Speaker 1: and he talked glowingly about Kenneth Walker before this game
- 2:32Speaker 1: and how much love and respect for him he had
- 2:34Speaker 1: for him. But they knew what he was going to do.
- 2:37Speaker 1: They clogged the middle. They were sprinting around. They were
- 2:40Speaker 1: flying around. Ty Akata picked up an interception off of
- 2:45Speaker 1: Nick Emanwuri. Pressure on Patrick Mahomes and Nick Eminwari. Again,
- 2:49Speaker 1: you can just, no matter what you do, when you
- 2:51Speaker 1: turn on the tape of the Seattle Seahawks, he's going
- 2:54Speaker 1: to jump off the tape on that defense. I mean,
- 2:57Speaker 1: he's chasing down Patrick Mahomes. He's making tackles in the backfield.
- 3:01Speaker 1: He's blitzing. He's pressuring. Then you see him in the
- 3:04Speaker 1: slot covering Xavier Worthy, a guy who ran 4-2-1 and
- 3:09Speaker 1: running step for step with him. This guy does everything.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Devin Witherspoon had another great game, flying around, making plays,
- 3:17Speaker 1: making big stops. Just consistency. Uchenna Nwosu got an unfortunate
- 3:22Speaker 1: call on a horse collar, but he was wrecking havoc.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Byron Murphy continues. Ernest Jones, but Tyrese Knight. Tyrese Knight
- 3:29Speaker 1: did a really great job in this game. He's been
- 3:31Speaker 1: filling in. He lost his starting spot to Drake Thomas,
- 3:35Speaker 1: and Drake Thomas has been banged up. But Tyrese Knight,
- 3:38Speaker 1: Outside of the first play of the game, he had
- 3:40Speaker 1: a little bit of a hiccup. He really was laying
- 3:44Speaker 1: his helmet on people and laying his pads on people
- 3:47Speaker 1: in a big way. This defense just looks outstanding. I mean,
- 3:51Speaker 1: the big cat Leonard Williams had a PBU in this ballgame,
- 3:54Speaker 1: but it doesn't always show up on the stat sheet
- 3:57Speaker 1: outside of them holding the Kansas City Chiefs to 3-4-11
- 4:01Speaker 1: on third down, holding them out of the red zone
- 4:04Speaker 1: in totality. Kansas City, I don't know many games where
- 4:08Speaker 1: you hear that the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes
- 4:11Speaker 1: and K-9 and Andy Reid and everything that they bring
- 4:14Speaker 1: to the table, and they did not enter the red
- 4:17Speaker 1: zone in Seattle. I know that Mike McDonald had taken
- 4:21Speaker 1: a ton of pride. He was really frustrated with the
- 4:24Speaker 1: way the offense played. was turning the football over, and
- 4:27Speaker 1: I think Sam did a great job of getting that
- 4:29Speaker 1: fixed today. He was 20-28 for 257, one touchdown, threw
- 4:33Speaker 1: some really accurate footballs, a few dimes to Jackson Smith
- 4:37Speaker 1: and Jigba in or near the end zone. I thought
- 4:40Speaker 1: both of them could have been a touchdown, but just
- 4:43Speaker 1: really accurate passes. I know he had the interception that
- 4:46Speaker 1: everybody's going to, you know, rightfully so, criticize him about,
- 4:50Speaker 1: but I thought he played another great game. Jackson Smith
- 4:52Speaker 1: and Jigba, I mean, he's on his way to what
- 4:54Speaker 1: looks like another offensive player of the year type season
- 4:57Speaker 1: with everybody knowing who's getting the ball, everybody knowing what
- 5:01Speaker 1: he brings to the table, what he means to this offense.
- 5:04Speaker 1: He still has nine receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown,
- 5:07Speaker 1: which could have been two. His 600-yard rushing game of
- 5:11Speaker 1: the season. There's only been seven games played by the
- 5:14Speaker 1: Seattle Seahawks. Mitchell, a heck of a season. Jason Myers
- 5:17Speaker 1: made his two kicks. But this team... look like they
- 5:23Speaker 1: found themselves again. This game could have been worse than that.
- 5:26Speaker 1: If they wouldn't have thrown that interception before the half,
- 5:28Speaker 1: this could have been a 27-3 ball game. And they
- 5:35Speaker 1: look like the reigning Super Bowl champions. And I think, again,
- 5:38Speaker 1: when it comes down to it in January, it's going
- 5:40Speaker 1: to be a tough out. They are going to be
- 5:42Speaker 1: a tough out, whether they are home or on the road. Now,
- 5:44Speaker 1: maybe because of the way the season is shaking out,
- 5:47Speaker 1: they may not get the home field advantage throughout the
- 5:48Speaker 1: playoffs that they have rode to multiple Super Bowls. I've
- 5:53Speaker 1: been there. When they get the number one seed and
- 5:56Speaker 1: they get home field advantage, usually they walk their way
- 5:58Speaker 1: to the Super Bowl. But I think if Sam Darnold
- 6:02Speaker 1: can play like this, the run game got going. Emmanuel Wilson,
- 6:05Speaker 1: 100 yards rushing, had the 21-yard touchdown run, one of
- 6:09Speaker 1: the biggest runs, best runs of the season. This is
- 6:11Speaker 1: the best the run game has lived. After the Broncos game,
- 6:16Speaker 1: we had that game, Mitchell, on Thursday night. And I
- 6:19Speaker 1: got a chance to talk to Mike McDonald after that game.
- 6:21Speaker 1: And he was like, hey, did you kill us? Did
- 6:22Speaker 1: you beat us up too bad? And I was like, no,
- 6:24Speaker 1: I didn't. I thought the defense played fantastic. And they did.
- 6:27Speaker 1: They held the Denver Broncos to 38 yards in the
- 6:29Speaker 1: second half. The turnovers are what doomed them. And even
- 6:32Speaker 1: with all the turnovers and all the things that went
- 6:35Speaker 1: wrong in that game, they still had a chance. And
- 6:37Speaker 1: I said, you just got to give Sam a little
- 6:39Speaker 1: more time. I mean, last year you guys were doing
- 6:41Speaker 1: a better job of protecting him. You were leaving more
- 6:43Speaker 1: guys in. And I think that's what they went in
- 6:46Speaker 1: with a concerted effort to protect him, to use the
- 6:49Speaker 1: screen game, to play to his comfort zone. And then
- 6:53Speaker 1: when risks had to be taken, when shots had to
- 6:55Speaker 1: be taken, they took him. But as always, I have
- 7:00Speaker 1: to caveat these things with. Rashid Shahid, he goes out
- 7:03Speaker 1: of this game with a banged up knee. And this
- 7:06Speaker 1: season has been a bit of a disappointment for a
- 7:08Speaker 1: guy you spent a lot of money on. And I
- 7:10Speaker 1: know we don't want to dwell on the negatives with
- 7:13Speaker 1: such an incredible win, and I don't. But I just,
- 7:16Speaker 1: I'm not understanding why there isn't more of an effort
- 7:21Speaker 1: to get him the football down the field. He has
- 7:23Speaker 1: a skill set that you can utilize, and they just
- 7:26Speaker 1: haven't found a way to utilize that. But this is
- 7:29Speaker 1: one of the most complete games the Seattle Seahawks have
- 7:31Speaker 1: played this season. I was very happy to see that.
- 7:34Speaker 1: The Chiefs coming into this game undefeated, dominant on the
- 7:38Speaker 1: ground and through the air and spags in this defense
- 7:40Speaker 1: and all they bring. I thought the Seattle Seahawks on
- 7:43Speaker 1: both sides of the ball were the better team far
- 7:45Speaker 1: and away. Patrick Mahomes struggled mightily with this defense. He
- 7:49Speaker 1: looked bewildered at times. He looked confused, perplexed, vexed, whatever
- 7:54Speaker 1: you want to say. He looked like a guy who
- 7:56Speaker 1: did not want to be in Seattle. It would look
- 7:58Speaker 1: like one of those sleepless in Seattle ads. Mitchell, he's
- 8:02Speaker 1: going to be sleepless tonight on that plane ride. I
- 8:04Speaker 1: guarantee you that play where Derek Hall came and got
- 8:09Speaker 1: the football out, got Patrick Mahomes on his blind side
- 8:12Speaker 1: as he was scrambling outside of the pocket. I thought
- 8:15Speaker 1: that was one of the most iconic plays of that
- 8:17Speaker 1: football game. I don't think he had any answers. I
- 8:21Speaker 1: look forward to, again, it could be a potential Super
- 8:23Speaker 1: Bowl preview. I'm not sure the Seattle Seahawks ever want
- 8:26Speaker 1: to see this. I mean, the Kansas City Chiefs want
- 8:28Speaker 1: to see the Seattle Seahawks team again. I don't think
- 8:31Speaker 1: they do.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I wouldn't want to either if I were them.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I mean, listen, they packed every bit of confidence the
- 8:36Speaker 2: Kansas City Chiefs showed up to Seattle with, shoved it
- 8:39Speaker 2: on the team plane, and sent it back to Kansas City.
- 8:42Speaker 2: This team dominated from start to finish, and it's rare
- 8:45Speaker 2: that you see Mahomes frustrated. And like you said, he
- 8:50Speaker 2: kind of lost his way. This team was frustrating the
- 8:53Speaker 2: living heck out of him from start to finish. Credit
- 8:55Speaker 2: to the Seattle Seahawks defense. And then on the offensive
- 8:58Speaker 2: side of the football, I don't think there's a more
- 9:00Speaker 2: consistent wide receiver in the NFL right now than Jackson
- 9:03Speaker 2: Smith and the Jigba. Week in, week out, he's getting
- 9:06Speaker 2: it done. And like you said, Sam.
- 9:08Speaker 1: And Jigba.
- 9:09Speaker 3: In Jigba. Did I mispronounce that?
- 9:14Speaker 1: It's okay. I just wanted to make sure it gets
- 9:15Speaker 1: corrected because they are very particular about that.
- 9:18Speaker 3: I hear you.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Okay, so, you know, and then, like we talked about
- 9:21Speaker 2: last podcast, it was going to be tough for me
- 9:23Speaker 2: to take this team seriously until they established a run game.
- 9:27Speaker 2: We saw that tonight. Emmanuel Wilson toting the rock 24
- 9:30Speaker 2: times for 100 yards and a touchdown. That's a huge
- 9:33Speaker 2: improvement for the Seattle Seahawks team, who's also going to
- 9:36Speaker 2: be getting another guy back, In the next couple weeks,
- 9:38Speaker 2: hopefully next week, Zach Charbonnet. So keep an eye on
- 9:41Speaker 2: the Seattle Seahawks team going forward. Huge game on Monday
- 9:44Speaker 2: night against the Chicago Bears. I will be rooting heavily
- 9:49Speaker 2: for the Seattle Seahawks. Let's talk about another division foe,
- 9:53Speaker 2: the NFC West San Francisco 49ers head on the road
- 9:59Speaker 2: to Atlanta. to face the falcons richard some of us
- 10:03Speaker 2: called this an upset others thought it was going to
- 10:05Speaker 2: be a cakewalk um are you surprised by this outcome
- 10:09Speaker 2: in atlanta the falcons taking down the 49ers 29 to 20.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Yes i'm very surprised by this outcome uh You give
- 10:18Speaker 1: Michael Penix and his offense, but John Robinson, a lot
- 10:21Speaker 1: of credit. They controlled this game from start to finish.
- 10:24Speaker 1: They dominated at times. And you thought when the San
- 10:29Speaker 1: Francisco 49ers went up early in this game, they were
- 10:32Speaker 1: in command. It looked like they were just going to
- 10:34Speaker 1: cruise through to another victory. You thought, oh, this is
- 10:37Speaker 1: going to be an easy day. Then the mistakes started
- 10:39Speaker 1: to pile up. You get Brock Purdy, a careless interception
- 10:43Speaker 1: on the sideline where it looked like Jacob Cowan kind
- 10:46Speaker 1: of stopped running on the play. You get the fumbles
- 10:51Speaker 1: by the backs. You get another interception late in the game.
- 10:54Speaker 1: It's just too many things went wrong for this team.
- 10:57Speaker 1: They couldn't get stops on defense. I got to look
- 11:01Speaker 1: at the stats because this was a game that I
- 11:04Speaker 1: know Kyle Shanahan is going to be kicking himself about
- 11:07Speaker 1: some of the things that went wrong in this game,
- 11:14Speaker 1: especially on the defensive side. They helped the Falcons to
- 11:18Speaker 1: four for 12 on third down, but they were only
- 11:21Speaker 1: four for 10 on third down. They managed to get
- 11:25Speaker 1: 400 yards in this game. They were running the ball well,
- 11:29Speaker 1: but there were too many uncharacteristic mistakes. George Kittle fumbles
- 11:34Speaker 1: at the end of the game. Give Jesse Bates and
- 11:36Speaker 1: his defense a ton of credit. Jesse Bates was all
- 11:39Speaker 1: over the place. He forced a fumble. He had the
- 11:42Speaker 1: interception in the game. He made this offense's life a
- 11:46Speaker 1: living hell. Christian McCaffrey had seven carries for 39 yards
- 11:49Speaker 1: in the touchdown, but he had the six receptions for
- 11:52Speaker 1: 61 yards, but got that thigh injury. Kalon Black carried
- 11:57Speaker 1: the load today, 12 carries for 63 yards. His best
- 12:01Speaker 1: game as a San Francisco 49ers had the long 30-yard touchdown,
- 12:05Speaker 1: but he lost a fumble in this game. George Kittle
- 12:07Speaker 1: lost a fumble in this game. Jordan Watkins showed flashes
- 12:12Speaker 1: of what he could be in this game, except Those
- 12:14Speaker 1: plays didn't count. You know, he made some almost spectacular plays.
- 12:18Speaker 1: He made an almost spectacular catch in the end zone
- 12:20Speaker 1: where he wasn't able to quite get two feet down.
- 12:24Speaker 1: He made an almost spectacular catch on third down, but
- 12:29Speaker 1: he lost the ball as he went down to the ground.
- 12:33Speaker 1: This just was a tough game to watch. I thought
- 12:36Speaker 1: Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw looked really good, but I
- 12:39Speaker 1: thought that there was a lack of pass rush. There
- 12:41Speaker 1: was a lack of pass rush in this game. They
- 12:43Speaker 1: did not get to Michael Penix Jr. in this game
- 12:47Speaker 1: at all. And this isn't the best offensive line in
- 12:50Speaker 1: the world. I thought they weren't able to get off
- 12:54Speaker 1: the field. And that was a huge factor in the game.
- 12:56Speaker 1: They were controlling the clock early in this game. And
- 12:59Speaker 1: then it totally flipped in the second half. There were
- 13:01Speaker 1: very long drives, methodical drives by the Falcons. Then the
- 13:08Speaker 1: missed PAT by Eddie Pinero. I know they're going to
- 13:11Speaker 1: have kickers. I would assume. I can't say I know.
- 13:14Speaker 1: I would assume if this continues, they're going to have
- 13:16Speaker 1: kicker tryouts in San Francisco. And I know they paid
- 13:20Speaker 1: Eddie Pinero some money, but it's unacceptable play. If he
- 13:24Speaker 1: makes that kick, they have a chance to win this
- 13:27Speaker 1: game on that last drive. They have a chance to
- 13:29Speaker 1: at least tie the game. There's hope. Instead of it
- 13:32Speaker 1: being a two-score game, you can't have those mistakes happen
- 13:36Speaker 1: over and over and over. and it's just happened too
- 13:40Speaker 1: frequently over this season. There aren't many games you're going
- 13:44Speaker 1: to lose the turnover battle 0-4 and win those games.
- 13:48Speaker 1: And the fact that they were even in this game
- 13:51Speaker 1: at the end tells you how talented this team is,
- 13:54Speaker 1: but you can't play like that. That's not great football.
- 13:56Speaker 1: That's not winning football. A lot of unnecessary penalties. I
- 14:00Speaker 1: think Jack Jones got a little exposed in this game.
- 14:07Speaker 1: the holding, the penalties, and critical, critical moments in this
- 14:10Speaker 1: game where the tide was shifting, where it could have
- 14:13Speaker 1: went either way. And I think if the defense is
- 14:16Speaker 1: able to get off the field in those plays, in
- 14:18Speaker 1: those situations, I think they find a way to win
- 14:22Speaker 1: this game. But instead, those drives end up leading the
- 14:25Speaker 1: points and I thought the safeties would be an issue
- 14:31Speaker 1: this season. They have played really well. Jair Brown and
- 14:36Speaker 1: Malik Mustafa have played fantastic, outstanding football. But Jack Jones
- 14:42Speaker 1: is kind of the mystery. He's the 50-50. You don't
- 14:49Speaker 1: know what you're going to get out of him. And
- 14:52Speaker 1: that's been the issue. I think they're going to have
- 14:53Speaker 1: to look in free agency or look for a trade.
- 14:56Speaker 1: and find another veteran corner that can go in there
- 15:00Speaker 1: outside of Yamador, Lenore, and Renardo Green that can go
- 15:03Speaker 1: in there and play some solid football. I think every
- 15:07Speaker 1: time they put him in there, and it's really critical situations,
- 15:11Speaker 1: it ends up being an issue, and I don't think
- 15:13Speaker 1: he's made enough big plays so far for this team
- 15:16Speaker 1: to justify it.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Today was the perfect storm for the San Francisco 49ers, Richard.
- 15:22Speaker 2: That's how I look at it. I don't think this
- 15:24Speaker 2: team should be defined by today's outcome by any means.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I mean, they were down their top four offensive wideouts.
- 15:30Speaker 2: You know, without those guys, this offense is a shell
- 15:33Speaker 2: of itself. When CMC gets bruised up in that first
- 15:36Speaker 2: half and you're relying on the rookie, yeah, he carried
- 15:38Speaker 2: the load, but you're already so shorthanded. I don't know
- 15:41Speaker 2: how that affects the morale of the team overall. But
- 15:45Speaker 2: Brock Purdy, credit to him, 288 yards. Obviously, he had
- 15:48Speaker 2: the two picks, but he got George Kittle involved. This
- 15:51Speaker 2: team got out to a hot start, and ultimately, I
- 15:54Speaker 2: think the Falcons just rose above. This is a team,
- 15:58Speaker 2: the Falcons, in this division, the NFC South, is wide open.
- 16:02Speaker 2: So for them to go and get this win at home,
- 16:05Speaker 2: it's so crucial for them, and that's why I saw
- 16:07Speaker 2: this coming. I think the 49ers are going to bounce
- 16:10Speaker 2: back next week against the Raiders. We shall see. But Richard,
- 16:14Speaker 2: this is certainly a surprising outcome nonetheless.
- 16:18Speaker 1: They're down more than that, Mitchell. They're down. Mike Evans,
- 16:22Speaker 1: number one. DeJuan Stribling. Debo Samuel. Ricky Pertusall. Demarcus Robinson.
- 16:31Speaker 3: There's a lot.
- 16:31Speaker 2: There's a lot of big names in that that you
- 16:33Speaker 2: just retaliated off there.
- 16:35Speaker 1: That's your top five, Mitchell. You're down. But with all
- 16:39Speaker 1: that said, I don't think this team wants to make
- 16:40Speaker 1: any excuses. And I don't think they're accepting any excuses.
- 16:45Speaker 1: They're going to get healthier after the bye. They get
- 16:47Speaker 1: a chance to go into the bye week, but this
- 16:49Speaker 1: is a game they had to have. And I know
- 16:51Speaker 1: you're like, ah, they're undefeated. They could use this. They
- 16:54Speaker 1: had a mulligan to give. But when you get to January,
- 16:58Speaker 1: you're going to remember this as a missed opportunity to
- 17:01Speaker 1: really just pull away from everybody and put yourself in
- 17:06Speaker 1: a comfortable position late in the season. But I still
- 17:10Speaker 1: think this is a great team. I still think this
- 17:12Speaker 1: is the best team in football. And I think they'll
- 17:15Speaker 1: bounce back from this. I do like how the Seattle
- 17:17Speaker 1: Seahawks play today and how if Sam Darnold plays like this, ooh,
- 17:23Speaker 1: that game late in the season is going to be
- 17:25Speaker 1: really fun.
- 17:25Speaker 3: No question.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I need to tell you about this new prediction market
- 17:29Speaker 1: called Polymarket. It's the best new way to trade in sports.
- 17:34Speaker 2: In the past, if you wanted action on the game,
- 17:37Speaker 2: you put some money in. And if your team was
- 17:40Speaker 2: doing well, and you wanted to cash out, they'd lock
- 17:43Speaker 2: the trade or take a huge fee.
- 17:46Speaker 1: But Polymarket is a prediction market. It's a stock exchange
- 17:50Speaker 1: for sports, buying in and selling out on your terms.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Richard, I've tried them all, and Polymarket is simply the
- 17:57Speaker 2: best prediction market. It's better than DraftKings, it's better than FanDuel, Calchi,
- 18:02Speaker 2: you name it.
- 18:03Speaker 1: And they're so confident that you will never go back
- 18:06Speaker 1: to the other guys that they're giving you a free
- 18:10Speaker 1: $ 25 on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10.
- 18:14Speaker 2: And now they've launched a new feature. It's called Squads,
- 18:17Speaker 2: a group chat where you can see what everyone is
- 18:20Speaker 2: trading on.
- 18:21Speaker 1: So download the Polymarket app today and use the promo
- 18:25Speaker 1: code Sherman when you sign up. That's S-H-E-R-M-A-N to get
- 18:31Speaker 1: $ 25 free after you deposit just $ 10.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Let's take it to Ford Field. I was there, Richard.
- 18:37Speaker 2: The Detroit Lions took down the Green Bay Packers 20-17.
- 18:43Speaker 2: And I will say this, you know, it's great. At
- 18:45Speaker 2: the end of the day, all you got to do
- 18:46Speaker 2: is win. That's the number one thing that matters is
- 18:49Speaker 2: get that W. And the Lions did just that, but
- 18:52Speaker 2: it was not pretty by any means. At halftime or
- 18:54Speaker 2: going into half, the Lions were up 10-7, were driving
- 18:58Speaker 2: the ball similar to what the Seattle Seahawks did. And ultimately,
- 19:02Speaker 2: Jameer Gibbs fumbles the ball at the five-yard line and
- 19:05Speaker 2: Green Bay gets it. The Lions then get the ball
- 19:09Speaker 2: at half and proceed to fumble the ball three plays in.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I mean, that sequence of events, the Lions could have
- 19:16Speaker 2: had an easy stranglehold on this game. And instead it
- 19:19Speaker 2: turned into one that is going to be questioned.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Let's be real.
- 19:22Speaker 2: The refs were all over the board on this game.
- 19:24Speaker 2: A lot of meaningful calls down the stretch on both teams.
- 19:29Speaker 2: But ultimately, I got to give credit to the Lions
- 19:32Speaker 2: defense in this one. What an outstanding performance by them
- 19:36Speaker 2: stepping up. Brian Branch comes back, has a huge interception
- 19:39Speaker 2: in this game. And they ultimately held Jordan Love in
- 19:43Speaker 2: this Green Bay Packers offense at bay. uh a lot
- 19:47Speaker 2: of long drives but not a whole lot of points
- 19:49Speaker 2: and credit to the lions for adjusting and coming away
- 19:52Speaker 2: with a huge win this uh this sunday richard i
- 19:55Speaker 2: gotta hear your thoughts on this because i know you
- 19:57Speaker 2: like the packers coming into this game were you surprised
- 19:59Speaker 2: by the outcome.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I was surprised by the outcome for sure but i
- 20:04Speaker 1: was surprised happily you know i was i was pleasantly
- 20:07Speaker 1: surprised by the way the Detroit Lions defense played. Some
- 20:12Speaker 1: of those Dan Campbell fourth downs though, Mitchell. That fourth down, whoa.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Like late in the game, in your own territory.
- 20:23Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Could have been a defining moment. And you appreciate the aggression,
- 20:30Speaker 1: but I also appreciate live by the sword, die by
- 20:35Speaker 1: the sword. Like, People can criticize you all you want,
- 20:39Speaker 1: but if that's what we came into this game doing,
- 20:42Speaker 1: if that's what my players know, that's our philosophy, that's
- 20:44Speaker 1: what we live by, I can respect a coach that says, hey,
- 20:48Speaker 1: I'm not dictated. Circumstance isn't going to dictate who we
- 20:53Speaker 1: are and our culture and what we do, what our
- 20:56Speaker 1: comfort level. If we go for force in these situations
- 21:01Speaker 1: with this down and distance and we believe in our players,
- 21:04Speaker 1: we believe in our philosophy, then we go for it
- 21:07Speaker 1: on fourth. And I think there is some strength to that.
- 21:11Speaker 1: And I think there's a Super Bowl and a championship
- 21:13Speaker 1: mentality in that. And I think we'd have had an
- 21:15Speaker 1: extra Super Bowl if we would have lived by the
- 21:17Speaker 1: mentality that we had. Hey, we're a run-first team, and
- 21:21Speaker 1: we play great defense. If we'd have lived by that, Mitchell,
- 21:24Speaker 1: I'd have two Super Bowl, at least two Super Bowl rings.
- 21:28Speaker 1: But then when you get in a critical situation and
- 21:30Speaker 1: you say, hey, we're going away from the philosophy that
- 21:33Speaker 1: we have built this team on Then you start to
- 21:37Speaker 1: lose the locker room and you lose your players. I
- 21:38Speaker 1: don't think you ever lose your players, whether you're right
- 21:41Speaker 1: or you're wrong. Doing what you told them you believe
- 21:44Speaker 1: to be true, to be factual, you gave them an opportunity. Now,
- 21:48Speaker 1: whether it goes right or goes wrong, I know people
- 21:50Speaker 1: are going to criticize it, but that's the way they live.
- 21:55Speaker 1: That's who they are as a team. And I think
- 21:58Speaker 1: players will always respect us living by our words and
- 22:03Speaker 1: backing up our words with actions. And I think there's
- 22:07Speaker 1: going to be, I know it's, you know, it worked
- 22:10Speaker 1: out today and it doesn't always work out, but I
- 22:13Speaker 1: really respect Dan Campbell for sticking to his guns.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I'm with you, Richard. This is who this team has
- 22:19Speaker 2: been under Dan Campbell. They're, they're risk takers and they
- 22:23Speaker 2: talked about it coming into this game. They're going to
- 22:25Speaker 2: take every opportunity that they can. They're going to play
- 22:27Speaker 2: four downs of offensive football. And they did just that today. Um,
- 22:32Speaker 2: They snuck out, and frankly, they got lucky. I mean,
- 22:34Speaker 2: let's not overlook the two-miss field goals, layup field goals
- 22:38Speaker 2: from Smack with Green Bay that he failed on. So
- 22:42Speaker 2: this Lions team, desperate need of a win, especially with
- 22:45Speaker 2: Minnesota coming to town next weekend. Kudos to them. Kudos
- 22:49Speaker 2: to Jameis and Williams. Two big plays opened the game
- 22:52Speaker 2: up with a touchdown. Jameer Gibbs obviously had 116 yards rushing,
- 22:57Speaker 2: but I would have to think that he looked at
- 22:59Speaker 2: this game as one of his.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I guess the lower on his totem pole with two
- 23:06Speaker 2: fumbles in this game, and one of which was a
- 23:08Speaker 2: very crucial one. And then Sam Laporta. I mean, we
- 23:11Speaker 2: got to talk a little bit about him before we
- 23:13Speaker 2: leave this game, Richard. He's the next guy on the
- 23:15Speaker 2: pecking order to get paid in the tight end market.
- 23:18Speaker 2: And he went viral this week with his podcast with PMT,
- 23:22Speaker 2: part of my take. And it was a conversation in
- 23:24Speaker 2: the locker room. He basically said that if Detroit's not
- 23:27Speaker 2: going to pay him, then it is what it is.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Somebody else is going to pay me, whatever.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I know you've been in.
- 23:33Speaker 2: These locker rooms where premier guys need to be paid.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Is this a distraction with this team? No, Mitchell, it's
- 23:39Speaker 2: not a distraction at all. And I think guys are pros.
- 23:44Speaker 2: These are locker room talks. These are locker room conversations
- 23:47Speaker 2: all the time.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Mitchell, I was wanting to get paid since my rookie year.
- 23:51Speaker 1: After my first start and I got an interception, I said,
- 23:53Speaker 1: they better pay me. But, Mitchell, they couldn't pay me
- 23:55Speaker 1: for a couple years.
- 23:57Speaker 3: It is what it is.
- 23:58Speaker 1: You can ask anybody in that building. It happens. These
- 24:00Speaker 1: conversations happen. It only becomes a distraction if a guy
- 24:04Speaker 1: starts to make it about himself, starts to be something
- 24:08Speaker 1: other than a team player. He starts to put less
- 24:11Speaker 1: effort in, starts to show up less, starts missing games
- 24:14Speaker 1: for undisclosed injury. Then it starts to be an issue.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Sam Laporta is going out there and putting his heart
- 24:21Speaker 1: and his body on the line for this team each
- 24:23Speaker 1: and every week, playing as hard as he can. It
- 24:25Speaker 1: is not a distraction at all.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Well, let's hope the winning ways continue for the Lions.
- 24:29Speaker 2: They'll be welcoming the Vikings, who are 6-0 now. Let's
- 24:33Speaker 2: talk about them next. They took on the Indianapolis Colts,
- 24:36Speaker 2: and they won 16-10. It wasn't the prettiest game. The
- 24:40Speaker 2: Colts had a lead late in this game, and then
- 24:43Speaker 2: Kyler Murray had a huge scramble that enabled the Minnesota
- 24:47Speaker 2: Vikings to get in the scoring position, and they took
- 24:49Speaker 2: the lead and never looked back. But Richard, the story
- 24:52Speaker 2: of this team, is this defense. They blitzed on 85.2%
- 24:58Speaker 2: of dropbacks today. You had Harrison Smith on last week
- 25:03Speaker 2: for an interview. He had his 40th interception today. Congratulations
- 25:07Speaker 2: to him. What do we have to say about this
- 25:10Speaker 2: Vikings defense? Is there a point where you would call
- 25:13Speaker 2: this reckless?
- 25:16Speaker 1: No, no. Mitchell, I think we as a society are risk-averse. Like,
- 25:23Speaker 1: our baseline as a society is be careful. They're not.
- 25:28Speaker 1: This is a defense, and Brian Flores and a coordinator
- 25:31Speaker 1: that says this aggression is our baseline. Like, when they
- 25:36Speaker 1: don't bring a blitz, you're like, everything okay? You guys
- 25:41Speaker 1: all right over there? You guys didn't get the call?
- 25:43Speaker 1: Somebody missed something? But we had Harrison on, and he said,
- 25:48Speaker 1: I don't know who made it so that bringing four
- 25:51Speaker 1: is the baseline. That told me everything I needed to know.
- 25:55Speaker 1: They think that bringing five should be the base. That
- 25:59Speaker 1: should be standard in this industry, and that's the way
- 26:01Speaker 1: they're treating it. I don't know if they're seeing all
- 26:04Speaker 1: these blitzes. They think sending five is the baseline. So
- 26:07Speaker 1: if they send more than five, sure, those are blitzes,
- 26:09Speaker 1: but they don't always send more than five. I really
- 26:14Speaker 1: respect this because, again, just like I said about Dan Campbell,
- 26:18Speaker 1: when you believe in your philosophy and believe in the
- 26:23Speaker 1: culture and your players circumstance doesn't dictate your play calling
- 26:30Speaker 1: you call it how you call it and you don't
- 26:33Speaker 1: change it for opponent you don't change it for time
- 26:37Speaker 1: of the year oh man the time of the game
- 26:41Speaker 1: they're aggressive all the time and I think there's a
- 26:45Speaker 1: confidence a security that that they feel in their scheme
- 26:49Speaker 1: where aggression, they are making the other team blink. They
- 26:53Speaker 1: are making the other team react to their aggression. On
- 26:57Speaker 1: the football field, Mitchell, this is always the way it is.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Somebody's the aggressor. Somebody's the person reacting to the aggression.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Usually you're playing corner. The receiver's dictating the pace, and
- 27:08Speaker 1: you react to it. But great corners, the really good ones,
- 27:11Speaker 1: they dictate the pace. I dictate where you're going to go,
- 27:14Speaker 1: where I'm going to allow you space, where I'm going
- 27:16Speaker 1: to cut you off of, And how we're going to
- 27:18Speaker 1: play this game. And I think at every position on
- 27:21Speaker 1: the field you have this. But this Minnesota Vikings defense
- 27:24Speaker 1: is that. They think offensively as a defense. They think, hey,
- 27:30Speaker 1: we're going to force you away from the things you
- 27:33Speaker 1: like to do. And we're going to force you into
- 27:35Speaker 1: the things we want you to do. And we want
- 27:37Speaker 1: to see if you can beat us that way. And
- 27:39Speaker 1: there hasn't been a team yet that has beaten them.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I Kyler Murray, you know, did it with his legs.
- 27:44Speaker 1: He's playing solid football, not turning the football over, not
- 27:48Speaker 1: playing out of this world. He was only 14 to
- 27:50Speaker 1: 24 for 150 yards and one touchdown. He was sacked
- 27:53Speaker 1: three times, but not turning the ball over using his
- 27:55Speaker 1: legs when he has to Jordan Mason, the former San
- 27:59Speaker 1: Francisco 49 or 15 carries for 68 yards, you know,
- 28:02Speaker 1: just grinding away Aaron Jones, eight for 26, but left
- 28:06Speaker 1: with that knee injury. Justin Jefferson, 4 for 44. You know,
- 28:10Speaker 1: very low numbers for these receivers. But when you're winning,
- 28:13Speaker 1: it's fine. I'm sure these guys are like, man, I
- 28:16Speaker 1: love more yards. But I do love winning quite a bit.
- 28:20Speaker 1: And the Colts, on the other hand, Daniel Jones struggles.
- 28:24Speaker 1: 13 for 22 for 108 yards. Sacked four times. Intercepted
- 28:30Speaker 1: by Harrison Smith, who said he was going to try
- 28:32Speaker 1: to get his 40th this week. And he got it.
- 28:35Speaker 1: He said it right here on the Richard Sherman podcast,
- 28:37Speaker 1: so you love to see it. But Jonathan Taylor continues
- 28:42Speaker 1: to be Jonathan Taylor. All these guys are auditioning. These
- 28:47Speaker 1: Indianapolis Colts, they're auditioning. And if you watch the San
- 28:50Speaker 1: Francisco 49ers game, he sure did look like, man, they
- 28:56Speaker 1: could use DeForest Buckner, Mitchell. Ooh, they could use DeForest Buckner,
- 29:00Speaker 1: both in the run game and the pass game. Ooh,
- 29:02Speaker 1: they could use DeForest Buckner. Are they going to do it?
- 29:07Speaker 1: Is John Lynch going to pull that trigger? I know
- 29:12Speaker 1: Ed Dodds, who's now in command of the personnel at
- 29:17Speaker 1: the Indianapolis Colts, and I know John Lynch. And I
- 29:20Speaker 1: think there has to be conversations going on. I don't
- 29:24Speaker 1: know what the price is going to be because– Defoe's
- 29:27Speaker 1: a free agent after this year, but I think the
- 29:30Speaker 1: way San Francisco has brought home their favorite sons this year,
- 29:35Speaker 1: and if they could bring Defoe back for a year,
- 29:40Speaker 1: go on a Super Bowl run, potentially, and potentially win
- 29:44Speaker 1: one with DeForest Buckner, coming back to finish the job
- 29:47Speaker 1: with the organization that he came into this league with,
- 29:51Speaker 1: that could be really special. Now, this is all speculation
- 29:54Speaker 1: and all me, you know, formulating, but there are rumors
- 29:57Speaker 1: that the San Francisco 49ers are interested in him. And
- 30:00Speaker 1: if the Colts continue to lose and they lost again today,
- 30:04Speaker 1: there's going to be a fire sale. And I guarantee you,
- 30:07Speaker 1: Jonathan Taylor is going to be a guy that people
- 30:09Speaker 1: are looking at. And DeForest Buckner.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Well, and there should be a fire sale. This team,
- 30:16Speaker 2: without a first-round pick going into next year, the New
- 30:18Speaker 2: York Jets, keep an eye out, guys. Three first-round picks
- 30:21Speaker 2: next year. This team is in desperate need to get better,
- 30:25Speaker 2: and they do not have the assets to get better.
- 30:27Speaker 2: So I would not be surprised one bit if Defoe
- 30:30Speaker 2: got traded, if Jonathan Taylor got traded. The list goes
- 30:34Speaker 2: on and on in Indy. But this Vikings team, Richard,
- 30:37Speaker 2: obviously their defense is championship caliber. But is their offense
- 30:42Speaker 2: good enough in your eyes to carry them to a
- 30:45Speaker 2: Super Bowl?
- 30:48Speaker 1: No. No, they aren't. They're one of the half-truths. There
- 30:52Speaker 1: are a lot of half-truths in this league, half-teams. I
- 30:57Speaker 1: think the Minnesota Vikings are one. I think the Buffalo
- 30:59Speaker 1: Bills are one. The Seattle Seahawks at times are one.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Can their offense keep up with that defense? So I
- 31:08Speaker 1: think this is another example of a team that is flawed,
- 31:13Speaker 1: fatally flawed on one side of the football, and the
- 31:16Speaker 1: Minnesota Vikings are an incredible defense. And if you put
- 31:21Speaker 1: a top half offense with them. Then you have a
- 31:23Speaker 1: legit championship contender. I'm not sure this is a top
- 31:26Speaker 1: half offense. They, they weren't great on third down today.
- 31:31Speaker 1: They're not great this season. And I just, they have talent.
- 31:38Speaker 1: They have the weapons. They have the, the, the weapons
- 31:40Speaker 1: on offense, but can Kyler Murray get with this Kevin
- 31:44Speaker 1: O'Connell system and start to maximize his potential. Now, right
- 31:49Speaker 1: now they're just, you know, kind of treading water, surviving. Like, hey,
- 31:52Speaker 1: survive in advance. Hey, don't ruin the game for our defense.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Just stick around, and our defense will make a play
- 31:59Speaker 1: to turn this around and give us great field position,
- 32:01Speaker 1: and we can win the game. But if the defense
- 32:05Speaker 1: isn't playing up to the level that they have played
- 32:07Speaker 1: over these first six games, they don't win any of
- 32:09Speaker 1: these games because of the level that their offense is
- 32:12Speaker 1: not playing to. So I don't think this is a
- 32:14Speaker 1: championship offense, but there's defense, no question, it's championship level.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Getting dressed for fall shouldn't require a whole game plan.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Give me a few quality pieces I can wear on repeat.
- 32:26Speaker 2: That's quince, Richard. Premium materials like organic cotton, merino wool,
- 32:32Speaker 2: and 100% Mongolian cashmere, with cashmere sweaters starting at just $ 60.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Mitchell, you know I love that 100% Mongolian. I got
- 32:43Speaker 1: that cashmere sweater, Mitchell. It keeps me warm.
- 32:45Speaker 3: It's cozy.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Quality material. Quality, Mitchell. I got a lot of compliments
- 32:50Speaker 1: on it. No question about that.

- 33:21Speaker 2: when Quints asks, were you heard about them? Let them
- 33:24Speaker 2: know it was the Richard Sherman podcast. It's the best
- 33:28Speaker 2: way to show support to the show. Let's take it
- 33:32Speaker 2: to the fourth quarter here on the Richard Sherman Podcast.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Let's talk about a game overseas in France. The Pittsburgh
- 33:39Speaker 2: Steelers took down the New Orleans Saints 16-10. And I
- 33:45Speaker 2: know you don't like the brand of football that Pittsburgh plays.
- 33:49Speaker 2: It's kind of sloppy, grinded out. But they're getting wins,
- 33:52Speaker 2: and they're 5-2 thus far in the season. Are you
- 33:55Speaker 2: taking Pittsburgh for real here, Richard?
- 34:01Speaker 1: I guess. I mean, I felt bad for the French
- 34:04Speaker 1: having to watch this product, but the Steelers are 5-2.
- 34:07Speaker 1: And what's crazy is 5-2 in this AFC North, you'd
- 34:11Speaker 1: be sitting there like, man, they're sitting pretty. They're really
- 34:13Speaker 1: doing a great job, but so are the Browns. These
- 34:16Speaker 1: are surprising teams to be on top of this division.
- 34:21Speaker 1: The Baltimore Ravens just lost to the Bengals today. Another
- 34:25Speaker 1: game without Lamar Jackson. They are going to be really
- 34:28Speaker 1: excited to get him back potentially next week. But Pittsburgh
- 34:32Speaker 1: is finding ways to win. They're doing it on the ground.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Jalen Warren is having an incredible season. I think he's
- 34:38Speaker 1: having a Pro Bowl caliber type season. And he's a
- 34:41Speaker 1: big reason why they're in the position they're in. Rico
- 34:43Speaker 1: Daudo's done a great job spelling him when he could.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers has been solid. I think he moved up
- 34:49Speaker 1: to third all time in touchdown passes thrown. So congratulations
- 34:56Speaker 1: to Aaron Rodgers, a legendary career, a Hall of Fame career,
- 34:59Speaker 1: four MVPs. A guy's going to get a gold jacket
- 35:02Speaker 1: the first time, first chance he's eligible. He continues to
- 35:05Speaker 1: play at a high level. The connection between him and
- 35:09Speaker 1: DK Metcalf continues to be good. I mean, at least
- 35:12Speaker 1: in short spurts, they did connect for a 51-yard bomb
- 35:16Speaker 1: in this game. But outside of that, they didn't do
- 35:20Speaker 1: a ton more. He connected with Darnell Washington for that
- 35:23Speaker 1: four-yard touchdown. I don't think I've ever seen a fade
- 35:27Speaker 1: route to a guy over 300 pounds, and they say
- 35:29Speaker 1: he's not 300 pounds. They say he's not, but sure
- 35:32Speaker 1: looks like 300 pounds to me. But defensively, they're doing
- 35:36Speaker 1: a great job putting pressure on guys. They got after
- 35:40Speaker 1: Tyler Shuck in this game. I mean, he still was
- 35:43Speaker 1: 30 of 38 for 278. He's having a quietly really
- 35:46Speaker 1: good season for the New Orleans Saints, whether they're winning
- 35:50Speaker 1: or not. he's shown that he belongs in this league
- 35:53Speaker 1: and he can play this game at a high level. But,
- 35:56Speaker 1: you know, the turnover, the interception really cost him in
- 35:59Speaker 1: this game. And it's a big win for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 36:02Speaker 1: And the Saints continue to struggle.
- 36:04Speaker 3: They do.
- 36:04Speaker 2: And Aaron Rodgers down the stretch, you know, this guy's
- 36:07Speaker 2: still a winner at heart. And he was bottled up
- 36:10Speaker 2: in the pocket, third and long, scrambles out of it,
- 36:13Speaker 2: picks up the first down on his 42-year-old legs. Very
- 36:16Speaker 2: impressive showing by Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, who
- 36:20Speaker 2: continue to win. Let's talk about the Cleveland Browns, who
- 36:23Speaker 2: you already said. They just improved to 5-2, 27-24 win
- 36:28Speaker 2: over the Tennessee Titans. And I know they were playing Tennessee,
- 36:31Speaker 2: but they got out to a bad start early in
- 36:33Speaker 2: this game. Weren't a 14-0 hole, thanks to Tony Pollard,
- 36:37Speaker 2: who had three touchdowns on the day. But they were
- 36:40Speaker 2: led back, and they fought back to Sean Watson, 308
- 36:42Speaker 2: passing yards at a rushing TD in this game. Quinshawn
- 36:47Speaker 2: Judkins had a big game, two touchdowns, 96 yards on
- 36:50Speaker 2: the ground. The Browns, 5-2, are you taking them seriously
- 36:54Speaker 2: right now, Richard?
- 36:55Speaker 1: Well, I'm starting to want to take them more seriously
- 36:58Speaker 1: for sure. Deshaun Watson, this is one of his better
- 37:00Speaker 1: games as a Cleveland Brown. He threw for 300 yards,
- 37:04Speaker 1: did have that interception, but ran one in. Quinshawn Judkins
- 37:09Speaker 1: seems like he's regaining his previous form. that he had
- 37:13Speaker 1: before the injury, 17 carries for 96 yards, had that
- 37:17Speaker 1: long 30-yarder in the game. Casey Conception got involved on
- 37:22Speaker 1: the ground. His best game as a receiver, though, in
- 37:24Speaker 1: this game, eight catches for 129 yards. Harold Fanning had
- 37:29Speaker 1: that huge catch late in the game to help set
- 37:32Speaker 1: up the game-winning field goal. But, yeah, I mean, I'm
- 37:37Speaker 1: starting to believe this is a game where their defense,
- 37:40Speaker 1: which has been the strength of their team for a
- 37:42Speaker 1: number of years, struggled, and their offense picked them up.
- 37:44Speaker 1: And I think that's what you want to see. If
- 37:46Speaker 1: you want to see a team that's really playing well,
- 37:49Speaker 1: when their strength fails them, can the rest of their
- 37:52Speaker 1: team respond? And this Browns offense responded in a big way,
- 37:56Speaker 1: and I think that's given me confidence in this team.
- 37:58Speaker 1: They're a legit 5-2.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I got to start taking them more seriously myself.
- 38:03Speaker 2: The Cleveland Browns getting a win, 5-2, very impressive stuff.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Next game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. We'll see who the
- 38:10Speaker 2: true good team is in this AFC North. Let's talk
- 38:14Speaker 2: about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Holy cow. The difference it
- 38:18Speaker 2: makes having Baker Mayfield back under center. And they only
- 38:22Speaker 2: threw the ball 11 times today. They ran the ball
- 38:26Speaker 2: over 46, 47 times. And absolutely decimated the Carolina Panthers
- 38:31Speaker 2: on the road here.
- 38:32Speaker 3: 43-13 today.
- 38:34Speaker 2: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in a hole here in
- 38:36Speaker 2: the NFC South. I know you like them coming out
- 38:39Speaker 2: of the gates at the beginning of the season. Do
- 38:42Speaker 2: you think they have what it takes to get back
- 38:44Speaker 2: and claw back into things in this NFC South?
- 38:49Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it just seems like Todd Bowles is
- 38:52Speaker 1: getting back to his old ways. He's getting back to
- 38:54Speaker 1: his ways. And it started with the Dallas Cowboys game
- 38:57Speaker 1: where he started blitzing Dak Prescott relentlessly. And they've just
- 39:02Speaker 1: continued that. They blitzed. The Carolina Panthers relentlessly, they sacked
- 39:07Speaker 1: Bryce Young five times in this game, intercepted him twice.
- 39:11Speaker 1: It forced a forced fumble that ended up being a
- 39:13Speaker 1: scoop and score touchdown. I mean, the defense really dominated
- 39:17Speaker 1: this game, and then they ran the football well. I
- 39:19Speaker 1: know you're saying this is what happens when you get
- 39:22Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield back, but, I mean, he threw for 64 yards.
- 39:25Speaker 1: I mean, Baker Mayfield had very little to do with
- 39:28Speaker 1: this win, but he didn't turn the ball over. he
- 39:30Speaker 1: did throw for a touchdown but Bucky Irvin on the
- 39:33Speaker 1: ground I mean their ground game was dominant they were
- 39:36Speaker 1: dominant in every phase they had four takeaways five sacks
- 39:43Speaker 1: three sacks for Yaya Diaby his best game as a
- 39:46Speaker 1: pro held Bryce Young in to 163 yards, one touchdown,
- 39:51Speaker 1: two interceptions. And this is a guy who's been playing
- 39:54Speaker 1: outstanding football. I think they've won like seven of the
- 39:58Speaker 1: last eight against the Carolina Panthers, something crazy like that.
- 40:01Speaker 1: There's a crazy statistic. They just cannot seem to figure
- 40:04Speaker 1: out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Great game for the Tampa
- 40:07Speaker 1: Bay Buccaneers. I think it's, you know, I'd never know
- 40:09Speaker 1: with the South. It's hard to bet. Look, all bets
- 40:13Speaker 1: are off with the NFC South until end of December.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Let's talk about the Cincinnati Bengals who took down the
- 40:22Speaker 2: Baltimore Ravens in convincing fashion, 35-13. Listen, Baltimore got out
- 40:28Speaker 2: to a hot start. Zay Flowers got on the board
- 40:31Speaker 2: early for them, and the Baltimore Ravens looked like they
- 40:33Speaker 2: might win this game. Then the Bengals turned things around.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Joe Burrow, four passing touchdowns. We've been hot and cold
- 40:41Speaker 2: on Cincy. I was very hot on them at the
- 40:43Speaker 2: beginning of the season. Then they lost two in a row.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Now they're back to winning two in a row. Is
- 40:47Speaker 2: it time to start taking them more seriously, Richard?
- 40:52Speaker 1: I don't know. I really don't know. I really don't know.
- 40:57Speaker 1: You know, this is, like you said earlier, there's great
- 40:59Speaker 1: parity in the National Football League. Everything is week to week.
- 41:02Speaker 1: The Bengals look really good on offense this week. What
- 41:05Speaker 1: would they look like? What would they look like? At
- 41:07Speaker 1: least for a half of football. Joe Burrow, 22 of 30, 292,
- 41:11Speaker 1: four touchdowns. T. Higgins had one of his better games,
- 41:14Speaker 1: six catch for 148 yards, a touchdown. Jamar Chase, very explosive,
- 41:19Speaker 1: breaking tackles, had five receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown.
- 41:23Speaker 1: This offense has all the makings to be an incredibly
- 41:26Speaker 1: elite unit. Their defense, after that big play from Baltimore
- 41:32Speaker 1: and Zay Flowers, they shut this offense down in the
- 41:35Speaker 1: second half. They showed the promise that they've shown all season.
- 41:38Speaker 1: They did a great job on Derrick Henry throughout this game.
- 41:44Speaker 1: The AFC North is looking really strong. I mean, the
- 41:49Speaker 1: Bengals are 4-2, Pittsburgh is 5-2, the Browns are 5-2,
- 41:54Speaker 1: and Baltimore is 4-3. I mean, record-wise, this is one
- 41:57Speaker 1: of the better divisions in the National Football League. We'll
- 42:00Speaker 1: see if that continues.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to keep an eye out for Chase Brown, Richard.
- 42:04Speaker 2: He's had a Very cold the last three weeks. 39, 39,
- 42:08Speaker 2: and 10 yards rushing respectfully. If Cincy really wants to improve,
- 42:13Speaker 2: it's got to start with establishing a ground game here.
- 42:16Speaker 2: Keep an eye out for Chase Brown in future weeks.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Let's talk about the New York Giants.
- 42:21Speaker 3: J.J.
- 42:22Speaker 2: McCarthy under center on the road against the Houston Texans.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Double-digit underdog, and no one heard any of that. The
- 42:29Speaker 2: New York Giants come out victorious.
- 42:31Speaker 3: J.J. McCarthy throws for 252 yards. Cam Scadaboo.
- 42:36Speaker 2: I guess he took that benching from John Harbaugh last
- 42:39Speaker 2: week to heart, 124 yards rushing, a touchdown. This Giants team,
- 42:45Speaker 2: four 2-1 leaders in the NFC East, I got to
- 42:50Speaker 2: believe they have it. I got to believe they should
- 42:52Speaker 2: be favorites in this division. Your thoughts on that, Richard?
- 42:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it looks to be that way. I mean,
- 43:00Speaker 1: I don't know if it's just the aura of John
- 43:02Speaker 1: Harbaugh or what it is, but This Giants team, every
- 43:06Speaker 1: time you think they're dead in the water, they find
- 43:09Speaker 1: a way to put out a really, really strong performance.
- 43:12Speaker 1: And this was one of those performances. J.J. McCarthy looked
- 43:16Speaker 1: as good as he's looked throughout his time in the
- 43:18Speaker 1: National Football League. Looked good in the pocket. He moved
- 43:21Speaker 1: around well. Hit the passes that were there. Was accurate
- 43:24Speaker 1: with the football. Didn't turn the football over in this game.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Had a great passer rating. Cam Scadable ran the ball well.
- 43:31Speaker 1: A great running game always helps unlock these young quarterbacks
- 43:35Speaker 1: and create some voids in the defense, and he found them. Defensively,
- 43:40Speaker 1: I really want to– give me a second because I
- 43:44Speaker 1: want to speak positively about this team in the right way.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Deontay Banks. Deontay Banks, it didn't show up on the
- 43:58Speaker 1: stat sheet, But he was doing a good job. Yeah,
- 44:02Speaker 1: a great job. And he's been having a great season.
- 44:05Speaker 1: And they've used him in kind of the Patrick Sertain
- 44:09Speaker 1: and Christian Gonzalez role of like, hey, follow their best
- 44:12Speaker 1: receiver and you're going to play man and we're going
- 44:14Speaker 1: to play zone around you. And they highlighted it a
- 44:17Speaker 1: number of times in this game. And he did a
- 44:19Speaker 1: great job in this game. I know it doesn't– when
- 44:23Speaker 1: you have a corner doing that and he only has
- 44:24Speaker 1: two tackles in the game, it's because he's playing great football.
- 44:28Speaker 1: They're not targeting him. or he's not making tackles because
- 44:30Speaker 1: they're not catching the football. But I think, I mean,
- 44:33Speaker 1: we're in such a microwave society that people are starting
- 44:36Speaker 1: to have the conversation that, oh, my God, is there
- 44:39Speaker 1: a quarterback controversy in New York because J.J. McCarthy threw
- 44:43Speaker 1: for 252 yards and no touchdowns and no interceptions and
- 44:46Speaker 1: it's Jackson Darts. No, Jackson Darts' job isn't in jeopardy.
- 44:51Speaker 1: But this is good for the Giants and keeping their
- 44:54Speaker 1: season hopes alive, keeping their hopes for the NFC East
- 44:58Speaker 1: crown alive. Obviously, other teams have been struggling. Jalen Hurts
- 45:03Speaker 1: is out for potentially the season with the blood clots.
- 45:07Speaker 1: The Dallas Cowboys have been as inconsistent as anybody. The
- 45:11Speaker 1: Washington Commanders continue to be inconsistent. You don't know what
- 45:14Speaker 1: you're going to get. I think they've only won one
- 45:15Speaker 1: game this season. So, yes, I think the Giants look
- 45:19Speaker 1: like they could pull off this division.
- 45:21Speaker 2: And then, like you said, I mean, this team, they
- 45:24Speaker 2: couldn't have landed on their feet any better after the
- 45:26Speaker 2: Jackson Dart injury.
- 45:27Speaker 3: And J.J.
- 45:28Speaker 2: McCarthy, they go grab him from the Vikings, give him
- 45:31Speaker 2: a second shot here in this league, and he's taken
- 45:34Speaker 2: full advantage of it.
- 45:36Speaker 3: Kudos to him.
- 45:37Speaker 2: It looks like they struck one in the draft as well.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Malachi Fields, big reception down the right sideline in this game,
- 45:43Speaker 2: was absolutely bodying guys, carried them for an extra 15,
- 45:46Speaker 2: 20 yards. You like what you see out of the rookie.
- 45:49Speaker 2: I like this Giants team. We'll see if they can
- 45:51Speaker 2: keep it together in the weeks to come with the
- 45:54Speaker 2: bye week next week.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Let's take it to the New York Jets.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Here we thought, hey, maybe they can get to 3-4
- 46:00Speaker 2: and actually look like an intriguing team.
- 46:02Speaker 3: Not so fast.
- 46:03Speaker 2: They lose to the Miami Dolphins, who got ahead early
- 46:06Speaker 2: and never relinquished the lead, 28-25. Garrett Wilson was seen
- 46:11Speaker 2: chewing out Geno Smith on the sidelines during this game.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Who is to blame when you lose to a team
- 46:18Speaker 2: that hasn't won a game, Richard?
- 46:23Speaker 1: I think that blame spreads out pretty evenly in this one, Mitchell.
- 46:28Speaker 1: I think you've got to spread the blame out pretty evenly.
- 46:30Speaker 1: I thought Geno Smith played solid football, tried to bring
- 46:33Speaker 1: him back, threw three touchdowns in his game, 23 of
- 46:36Speaker 1: 30 for 287. I thought he played good enough football
- 46:40Speaker 1: to win it. Omar Cooper became the first Jets rookie since,
- 46:46Speaker 1: I want to say 1985 or something like that, to
- 46:49Speaker 1: record back-to-back 100-yard games. So they're really happy with him.
- 46:52Speaker 1: But obviously, Garrett Wilson, you know, two for 26, two
- 46:56Speaker 1: catch for 26 yards on only three targets. There's frustration
- 47:00Speaker 1: growing there. He's getting paid a lot of money. The
- 47:02Speaker 1: expectations for himself are very high. And right now, they're
- 47:05Speaker 1: finding a rookie. I think they're going to have to
- 47:07Speaker 1: figure that out. but this is a head-scratching loss and
- 47:13Speaker 1: doesn't help their chances going forward. Obviously, there's going to
- 47:20Speaker 1: be some question marks about the coach and what he
- 47:23Speaker 1: did in this game, but give Malik Willis and his
- 47:25Speaker 1: offense a lot of credit. He was 14-21, 208 yards,
- 47:28Speaker 1: two touchdowns, got sacked twice, but he made plays with
- 47:33Speaker 1: his legs, and they got the win, so I'm always
- 47:35Speaker 1: happy for For Jeff Halfley and his success, you know,
- 47:38Speaker 1: people thought this Dolphins team wouldn't win a game this season,
- 47:42Speaker 1: and they did.
- 47:43Speaker 2: There they are, and that leaves, is that the lone,
- 47:46Speaker 2: unwinless team?
- 47:47Speaker 3: Is that the L.A. Chargers now?
- 47:51Speaker 2: Who would have thunk that, Richard? Who would have thunk that?
- 47:55Speaker 2: Let's talk about the Denver Broncos. Solid win today, 30-16
- 48:00Speaker 2: over the Cardinals. They continue their win streak here. Bonex
- 48:04Speaker 2: seemed to have a turnaround game here. Highly criticized in
- 48:07Speaker 2: the media last week, which we talked about on last
- 48:10Speaker 2: week's podcast. They get a big game win here. Your
- 48:15Speaker 2: thoughts about this Denver Broncos team, Richard? We've talked about
- 48:18Speaker 2: their defense ad nauseum. Another defense that is championship worthy.
- 48:24Speaker 2: This is another one of these half-baked teams. Do you
- 48:27Speaker 2: think their offense has enough with Bo Nix under center
- 48:31Speaker 2: to reach that promised land?
- 48:35Speaker 1: If he plays as competitively as he did in this game,
- 48:38Speaker 1: he ran, he used his legs when they were there,
- 48:41Speaker 1: won opportunities. He didn't play hesitant. He didn't second guess himself.
- 48:45Speaker 1: I think if he plays that way, they definitely have
- 48:47Speaker 1: a chance. They're going to be, have a chance to
- 48:49Speaker 1: go as far as they did last year. And they
- 48:52Speaker 1: had a, you know, he gets injured in a divisional
- 48:55Speaker 1: and didn't get to play in a AFC championship game,
- 48:58Speaker 1: but they were there. And he was the big reason
- 49:01Speaker 1: why they were there, but he was playing fearless football.
- 49:03Speaker 1: And today he had the big, big long run for
- 49:07Speaker 1: a touchdown. He made plays with his arm. He was
- 49:11Speaker 1: a difference maker in this game. And I think when
- 49:13Speaker 1: he plays like this, they're a very tough team to beat.
- 49:15Speaker 1: And if they can get Jonathan Cooper back at some point,
- 49:18Speaker 1: I don't know if the league is going to allow
- 49:20Speaker 1: allow him to come back and play but they get
- 49:22Speaker 1: him back they get Sertan and then Talanoa Hufanga they
- 49:28Speaker 1: get a team that's whole out there with Bo Nix
- 49:30Speaker 1: playing like this watch out AFC.
- 49:34Speaker 2: Let's talk about the LA Rams. This is a team
- 49:36Speaker 2: that was in desperate need of a win, a slow
- 49:39Speaker 2: and sluggish start to the season for them. They take
- 49:42Speaker 2: down the Las Vegas Raiders, 35-21, and they do so
- 49:46Speaker 2: with their two-headed monster in the backfield, Kyron Williams and
- 49:50Speaker 2: Blake Corum, rushing for 99 and 93 yards, respectfully, both
- 49:54Speaker 2: scoring touchdowns. This Rams team, obviously, is battling adversity. They're
- 50:01Speaker 2: A number of guys on IR, a number of big
- 50:03Speaker 2: names going down with injury early this season. Do you
- 50:06Speaker 2: think they can turn this thing around and go on
- 50:08Speaker 2: a run here, Richard?
- 50:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I definitely think they can. They're an incredibly talented
- 50:16Speaker 1: team with an incredibly talented coach in Sean McVay. Really
- 50:19Speaker 1: great players. They've got to get healthy. They've got to
- 50:22Speaker 1: get some of these guys, big-time players off of IR.
- 50:25Speaker 1: They've got so many guys on IR, Puna Ford, Uh, uh, McDuffie, uh,
- 50:30Speaker 1: isn't playing right now. Um, and these are big miles.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Garrett obviously hasn't played. He's, he's, he's approaching the most
- 50:37Speaker 1: games that he's missed in his career for injury and
- 50:41Speaker 1: Devante Adams. Uh, you know, the list goes on and
- 50:44Speaker 1: on poking the cool was banged up coming into this game,
- 50:47Speaker 1: but he decided he was able to play. Uh, they
- 50:50Speaker 1: have to get healthy. And I think they're talented enough
- 50:53Speaker 1: that if they can get healthy, uh, They can play
- 50:55Speaker 1: with the best of them. They can go on a run.
- 50:57Speaker 1: They will be dangerous as whatever seed if they get
- 50:59Speaker 1: in these playoffs.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Well, it's time.
- 51:01Speaker 2: It's time for the Fresh from the Oven takes brought
- 51:04Speaker 2: to you by DiGiorno. Just like pizza fresh out of
- 51:08Speaker 2: the oven, these takes are hot, they're fresh, and they're
- 51:11Speaker 2: ready for Monday night. Let's break down the matchup between
- 51:15Speaker 2: the Cowboys and the Eagles. Richard, what is your hottest
- 51:19Speaker 2: take about this Monday night football matchup between Dallas and Philly?
- 51:27Speaker 1: My hottest take, I don't know if I have a
- 51:29Speaker 1: hottest take because I don't know if I feel hot
- 51:31Speaker 1: about the NFC East right now and whatever they have going.
- 51:36Speaker 1: You know, which Dak Prescott are you going to get?
- 51:39Speaker 1: Which C.D. Lamb are you going to get? Which George
- 51:41Speaker 1: Pickens are you going to get? That's going to determine
- 51:43Speaker 1: this game. Are you going to get the C.D. Lamb
- 51:46Speaker 1: that had 21 targets and 17 catches for 189 yards?
- 51:49Speaker 1: Are you going to get the guy who had one
- 51:51Speaker 1: catch for four yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Which
- 51:54Speaker 1: one are you going to get? And which– Which Eagles
- 51:58Speaker 1: defense are you going to get? Is Jalen Carter and
- 52:01Speaker 1: those guys going to be able to put some pressure
- 52:03Speaker 1: on Dak Prescott? Or Quinion Mitchell and Tariq Woolen and
- 52:07Speaker 1: Cooper DeJean in that secondary going to be able to
- 52:09Speaker 1: contain these guys and create turnovers? Is Vic Fangio going
- 52:12Speaker 1: to come up with a plan to confuse Dak Prescott?
- 52:17Speaker 1: We shall see. I think Tanner McKee is going to
- 52:19Speaker 1: be solid, has this offense going in a solid direction.
- 52:23Speaker 1: I think he's a competent NFL quarterback and he's good
- 52:26Speaker 1: enough to win him this game. That's why I picked him.
- 52:28Speaker 2: My biggest hot take of this game is neither one
- 52:31Speaker 2: of these teams are going to win their division. I
- 52:33Speaker 2: got eyes on the Giants or the Commanders over either
- 52:36Speaker 2: of these teams. That being said, which player do you
- 52:39Speaker 2: think is going to be the deciding factor in this one?
- 52:43Speaker 1: I think it's going to be Dak Prescott. Dak Prescott
- 52:46Speaker 1: is going to be the deciding factor in this game.
- 52:47Speaker 1: If he plays well, Dallas is going to be incredibly
- 52:50Speaker 1: tough to beat. If he doesn't, Congratulations to the Eagles.
- 52:54Speaker 3: Score prediction?

- 53:00Speaker 2: I know last week you said your go-to pizza is
- 53:08Speaker 2: always pepperoni, but did I convince you at all to
- 53:11Speaker 2: throw a little pineapple on there or something to spice
- 53:15Speaker 2: it up a little bit, Rich? What are you going
- 53:16Speaker 2: to be popping in the oven for this game when
- 53:19Speaker 2: you sit down?
- 53:21Speaker 1: No, Mitchell, I'm not putting fruit on pizza. I'm sorry
- 53:24Speaker 1: you're not getting me there. Jalapenos, you might get me
- 53:27Speaker 1: to put some jalapenos on my pizza, maybe an onion
- 53:31Speaker 1: or two, but not any fruit. So we'll call it
- 53:34Speaker 1: jalapenos to spice it up, and then maybe I'll put
- 53:37Speaker 1: some hot honey on there myself, Mitchell, just to get you.
- 53:40Speaker 2: Could you imagine the sweetness with the little pineapple in
- 53:42Speaker 2: there too?

- 54:25Speaker 1: the Katrina, everything that came with that season, all the despair,
- 54:29Speaker 1: the energy, the hopes of so many people that were
- 54:33Speaker 1: displaced during that storm. The value that he brought to
