Latest / The Dream Team / Dream Team: Week 3
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's time to set your lineup with the dream team.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Here's Jim Zoki and John Halpin.
- 0:07Speaker 2: All right, week three in the NFL. Of course, week
- 0:11Speaker 2: three of your fantasy football season as well. The great
- 0:15Speaker 2: John Halpin joining us to talk all about it. And, John,
- 0:18Speaker 2: who would have known that when we began this regular
- 0:21Speaker 2: season part of it a couple weeks ago, we would
- 0:23Speaker 2: be talking about the Carolina Panthers with the league's number
- 0:26Speaker 2: one passing attack, as we all projected they would be. Right? Right.
- 0:30Speaker 1: And like if if we you had told me that
- 0:32Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago, I would have said, oh, man,
- 0:34Speaker 1: they got blown out in the first two games and
- 0:35Speaker 1: just had to throw a lot. No.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Right.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I mean, that Bears game was close for three quarters
- 0:40Speaker 1: and the game against the Falcons. They kicked the crap
- 0:44Speaker 1: out of the Falcons and they did it by throwing,
- 0:45Speaker 1: not running. This is it's a new day.
- 0:48Speaker 2: And Bryce Young has kind of an obscure stat, but.
- 0:53Speaker 2: The most passes of 25-plus yards, nine completions, and nobody
- 0:57Speaker 2: else in the league. He's tied for first in touchdown
- 0:59Speaker 2: passes with six.
- 1:00Speaker 1: He's tied for first in touchdown passes. And the stat
- 1:04Speaker 1: that jumped out at me this week was Panthers being
- 1:07Speaker 1: first in pass rate over expectation, meaning neutral situations, ahead situations, whatever.
- 1:12Speaker 1: They are throwing the ball. It's not situation-based. It's a
- 1:15Speaker 1: conscious decision to attack through the air much more than
- 1:19Speaker 1: they did last year.
- 1:20Speaker 2: People trip it all over themselves to get Bryce Young
- 1:23Speaker 2: and Tyler Shuck on their rosters as quick as they can.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Imagine before the season. Imagine that one. I actually like
- 1:29Speaker 1: Tyler Shuck, but I kept saying with you, no, Bryce,
- 1:32Speaker 1: they're going to run a lot. The volume will be down. Nope,
- 1:36Speaker 1: way wrong.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Well, you and the planet Earth, so don't feel bad
- 1:39Speaker 2: about that one. So, obviously, great start for Bryce. We'll
- 1:41Speaker 2: take that. Heading into the Cleveland game today, we'll talk
- 1:44Speaker 2: a little bit about some of these Browns players in
- 1:45Speaker 2: a moment. But Jalen Kilker was the other one. T-Mac, obviously.
- 1:49Speaker 2: is the receiver one, at least in name. But they
- 1:52Speaker 2: gave Jalen Coker a three-year contract this offseason, so heavily
- 1:55Speaker 2: invested in him. And he is– I mean, they could
- 1:59Speaker 2: be twins. They could both be wide receiver one. In fact,
- 2:02Speaker 2: Coker's production is better than T-Mac's so far.
- 2:05Speaker 1: It sure is. They have the exact same amount of targets,
- 2:07Speaker 1: 18 in two games, which is great. Yeah, Jalen Coker,
- 2:11Speaker 1: he has more catches, more yards. I was looking at
- 2:14Speaker 1: some of the situations. You know, the slot rate is pretty–
- 2:17Speaker 1: kind of similar– Because we talked early in the season
- 2:19Speaker 1: about trying to get the easy targets for the guys
- 2:21Speaker 1: in the slot, but they're both playing their, you know,
- 2:23Speaker 1: similar amount. Yeah, I mean, so far, Jalen Coker, wide
- 2:26Speaker 1: receiver 6, Ted Arroyo, wide receiver 19 in fantasy. I
- 2:29Speaker 1: don't know that I see that slowing down. I don't
- 2:31Speaker 1: know that I'd say Jalen Coker top 10 wide receiver,
- 2:33Speaker 1: but the way this is going, who the heck knows. Also,
- 2:35Speaker 1: for a vibe check, Luke Halpin, about to celebrate his
- 2:39Speaker 1: 19th birthday, former high school wide receiver, asked for a
- 2:42Speaker 1: Jalen Coker jersey for his birthday.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Well, he should get one then.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, he's getting one. I ordered it already.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Although he is 18, about to turn 19, and the
- 2:50Speaker 2: number is 18. So I don't know. I don't know
- 2:53Speaker 2: whoever wore 19 for us. I'm sure we've had some.
- 2:56Speaker 2: We might have one right now. I can't even think
- 2:57Speaker 2: of one. Maybe we have one. Anyways, Chuba Hubbard, what's
- 3:00Speaker 2: he doing this year? But now that Jonathan Brooks is out,
- 3:03Speaker 2: it only increases workload, right?
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yes. You know, we talked the last few weeks about
- 3:07Speaker 1: a tandem backfield. No more. I mean, you might see
- 3:10Speaker 1: a little sprinkle of A.J. Dillon, but you're going to
- 3:12Speaker 1: see a lot of Chuba Hubbard. So far, he's only
- 3:14Speaker 1: got 22 carries and five receptions. There's going to be
- 3:16Speaker 1: a lot more coming. Chuba's the guy, and if you
- 3:20Speaker 1: picked him in seventh, eighth round of fantasy football, that's
- 3:23Speaker 1: going to work out for you because as long as
- 3:25Speaker 1: he's healthy and hopefully he'll stay that way, he's going
- 3:29Speaker 1: to get the balls quite a bit.
- 3:30Speaker 2: All right, Cleveland Browns, Deshaun Watson at quarterback. There was
- 3:36Speaker 2: a lot of talk if he didn't perform well in
- 3:38Speaker 2: his past game, which was Tampa Bay, and they won.
- 3:40Speaker 2: It would be Shadour Sanders playing in this game instead,
- 3:43Speaker 2: but it's not this week. It's Deshaun Watson for another week.
- 3:46Speaker 2: if he's on your roster, you're gross, but we forgive
- 3:50Speaker 2: in fantasy football because it's about the stats. You have
- 3:52Speaker 2: to differentiate the stats versus the human. And so maybe
- 3:56Speaker 2: you feel he paid his pen. So maybe you even
- 3:58Speaker 2: moved off of all that. But anyways, I'm thinking, I
- 4:02Speaker 2: guess if you had injuries, maybe Deshaun Watson, I know
- 4:05Speaker 2: one person in my league who picked them up in
- 4:06Speaker 2: one of my leagues. Yeah.
- 4:08Speaker 1: It's, it's, it's injury based for sure. I mean, like
- 4:10Speaker 1: you said, it's, it's hard to get Bryce Young and
- 4:13Speaker 1: Tyler Shuck at this point. And those are the guys
- 4:15Speaker 1: who were targeting, um, a few days ago. Uh, Deshaun Watson,
- 4:19Speaker 1: the thing about him so far is 13 carries for
- 4:21Speaker 1: 60 yards. That has raised his fantasy floor. He's QB
- 4:24Speaker 1: 14 for the season. His passing stats are just kind
- 4:26Speaker 1: of sort of okay. But, uh, and I don't expect
- 4:29Speaker 1: that he's going to be very good over the course
- 4:31Speaker 1: of the season and seeing him get benched seems like
- 4:33Speaker 1: a possibility at some point, not too far down the road,
- 4:36Speaker 1: but the rushing, like I said, is keeping him afloat.
- 4:39Speaker 1: If you're in a pinch, you could grab him. Like
- 4:41Speaker 1: if you had one of those quarterbacks who went down
- 4:43Speaker 1: in week two, it, it, There are desperation plays. He
- 4:47Speaker 1: wouldn't be first on my list. We'll talk about more
- 4:48Speaker 1: of those later, but it's a possibility.
- 4:51Speaker 2: All right, so Cleveland's not been known as a high-scoring team. However,
- 4:54Speaker 2: they've got two talented rookie receivers, Denzel Boston, Casey Concepcion,
- 4:58Speaker 2: among the best rookie receivers in the NFL. Is one
- 5:03Speaker 2: of them more valuable than the other or worth having,
- 5:05Speaker 2: at least on your bench?
- 5:07Speaker 1: So far, Denzel Boston has been the higher performer because
- 5:10Speaker 1: he's got two touchdowns in two games. Touchdowns at this
- 5:12Speaker 1: point can be a little fluky, They both have 11 targets.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Casey Concepcion, 10 for 71, while Denzel Boston is 7
- 5:20Speaker 1: for 154. You know, more downfield things. Casey Concepcion is
- 5:22Speaker 1: getting me, you know, put the ball in his hands
- 5:24Speaker 1: and see if he can make a play kind of targets,
- 5:26Speaker 1: let's say. I would rather have Casey Concepcion, but it's
- 5:29Speaker 1: not by a lot. I wouldn't start either one of
- 5:31Speaker 1: them just yet, but I would, you know, they're fine
- 5:34Speaker 1: wait and sees on your bench and maybe playing a
- 5:36Speaker 1: bye week kind of guys.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yep, not too far away from getting into the bye
- 5:39Speaker 2: week situations coming up. You got to think about that.
- 5:42Speaker 2: The guys, and to wrap up with Cleveland, that we
- 5:44Speaker 2: thought probably would be productive are the running back, Quinn
- 5:47Speaker 2: Sean Judkins, and the tight end, Harold Fanning. They kind
- 5:50Speaker 2: of cleared the decks for Fanning with the David Njoku
- 5:53Speaker 2: letting him go. But neither one is actually doing much
- 5:55Speaker 2: of anything so far.
- 5:57Speaker 1: No, and it's funny because looking at the Browns before
- 5:59Speaker 1: the season, you would have said, well, maybe Fanning and
- 6:01Speaker 1: Judkins and the wide receivers are kind of stashes. You know,
- 6:04Speaker 1: Boston's been good. Judkins running back 32. He's 24 for
- 6:07Speaker 1: 54 so far. That's not going well. I can't say
- 6:09Speaker 1: I've watched a lot of Browns yet, so. Not sure
- 6:11Speaker 1: exactly why that's happening. Hopefully for his fantasy managers, he
- 6:15Speaker 1: turns it around after this week against the Panthers. Harold
- 6:18Speaker 1: Fanta Jr., 7 for 75 on nine targets. I will
- 6:20Speaker 1: say that as tight ends go, he might not be
- 6:24Speaker 1: where you thought he was going to be. I think
- 6:26Speaker 1: he got drafted as tight end five or six, but
- 6:30Speaker 1: he's not way off. For the non-elite tight ends, you're
- 6:34Speaker 1: not expecting a ton of targets. With the wide receivers,
- 6:37Speaker 1: he might get a little less than you thought, but
- 6:39Speaker 1: he can probably still be productive at some point.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I think a lot of his production was with
- 6:43Speaker 2: Shadour Sanders, so if he ever does get that role,
- 6:46Speaker 2: could reinvigorate it. I would say as far as Judkins go,
- 6:49Speaker 2: I'm guessing, having not watched a lot of it either,
- 6:52Speaker 2: they're probably loading the box, stopping the run, saying beat
- 6:55Speaker 2: us with the throw, we're going to stop the run.
- 6:56Speaker 2: So that's probably what's going on with him right now.
- 6:58Speaker 2: We'll see if they get some balance there. All right,
- 7:00Speaker 2: plenty of quarterback news this week that has been going
- 7:03Speaker 2: on since the end of last weekend's games. We begin
- 7:06Speaker 2: with your Giants, Jackson Dart, out for the regular season.
- 7:10Speaker 2: which means he's out for the fantasy season if he
- 7:12Speaker 2: comes back to the NFL playoffs, if they make the
- 7:13Speaker 2: playoffs there. So Jameis Winston, the gunslinger, he's like that
- 7:17Speaker 2: gunslinger who gets shot a lot, kind of a gunslinger.
- 7:21Speaker 2: He loses a lot of the duels, we'll put it
- 7:23Speaker 2: that way. What are the prospects for all the surrounding
- 7:26Speaker 2: parts and pieces of the Giants?
- 7:28Speaker 1: I have never heard Jameis Winston described more.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Aptly than that.
- 7:32Speaker 1: That was just perfect. It was funny that I thought
- 7:37Speaker 1: when they signed him, before last year, I think it was,
- 7:41Speaker 1: they wanted him to be a better than average backup.
- 7:44Speaker 1: You know, they had had some really bad issues with
- 7:46Speaker 1: backups in the previous few years where they were getting
- 7:48Speaker 1: down to like, you know, Tommy DeVito and Jake Fromm
- 7:51Speaker 1: and guys like that. So they signed Jameis and they're like,
- 7:53Speaker 1: all right, if we need to play the backup, he'll
- 7:55Speaker 1: be okay. Monday night, he was terrible. It wasn't just the, oh,
- 7:59Speaker 1: he's going to throw two, three interceptions. I know he's
- 8:01Speaker 1: going to do that, but he couldn't complete passes either.
- 8:05Speaker 1: He just looked awful. I hope he snaps out of
- 8:07Speaker 1: that for Malik Naver's sake. I still, I have a
- 8:11Speaker 1: hard time believing he's going to be as bad as
- 8:12Speaker 1: he was Monday night. There's going to be absolute big
- 8:15Speaker 1: bumps in the road with Jameis Winston, but I think
- 8:17Speaker 1: he can be competent.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yep. And I think his broadcast career is moments away
- 8:21Speaker 2: based on the way he played football this past week.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Jaden Daniels, elbow injury. It's going to be a little
- 8:27Speaker 2: while of that. That's not going to be a quick
- 8:29Speaker 2: one for him. So Marcus Mariota back in as quarterback. Mariota,
- 8:34Speaker 2: when he played, did some decent things last year. He
- 8:36Speaker 2: can run. I'm not saying about him as an option
- 8:38Speaker 2: in particular, but again, We have to take into account,
- 8:40Speaker 2: what does it mean for all the skill position players
- 8:42Speaker 2: for Washington?
- 8:43Speaker 1: I think it's bad news for Terry McLaurin, but you're right.
- 8:46Speaker 1: For Marcus Mariota, he runs a bit when he plays.
- 8:50Speaker 1: He's not a high-ceiling guy, but his floor is not terrible. Again,
- 8:54Speaker 1: when you get to the bye weeks, or if right
- 8:56Speaker 1: now you just lost Jaden Daniels or Jackson Dart and
- 8:59Speaker 1: kind of need a backup to have around, Marcus Mariota
- 9:02Speaker 1: is not terrible. I do think that thinking about last year,
- 9:06Speaker 1: the running game was okay. while Daniels was out, and
- 9:10Speaker 1: Daniels doesn't take from the, you know, Marietta doesn't take
- 9:13Speaker 1: from the running backs like Daniels did, even though he
- 9:14Speaker 1: can run. I wonder if Ja'Cory Crosby-Merritt's going to be
- 9:18Speaker 1: kind of okay, maybe get a little bit of an
- 9:20Speaker 1: uptick with the change.
- 9:22Speaker 2: All right, so with the injuries in Chicago, it was
- 9:25Speaker 2: a very good chance, we don't know for sure, but
- 9:28Speaker 2: a very good chance that maybe Case Keenum, the veteran
- 9:30Speaker 2: third-string quarterback at quarterback, in his life, he's had some
- 9:34Speaker 2: moments with the Vikings, with the Browns in brief stays.
- 9:38Speaker 2: So maybe he could cobble it together for what is
- 9:40Speaker 2: the highest scoring offense in the history of football. They
- 9:43Speaker 2: scored three last week. So what do you expect from, again,
- 9:47Speaker 2: I ask this question, of the Bears, not of Case
- 9:49Speaker 2: in particular, but all those talented skill position guys. It
- 9:52Speaker 2: almost feels like Atlanta. Here's all these great weapons and
- 9:55Speaker 2: somebody's got to get the ball to them.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Goodness. I mean, those Coastal Loveland fantasy owners want to
- 9:59Speaker 1: jump off a building and now it's like, all right,
- 10:02Speaker 1: we got two bad weeks. And now case Keenum is
- 10:04Speaker 1: going to be the quarterback. I think it's, it's, you know,
- 10:08Speaker 1: arrow pointing down for this week. If Tyson Bajet doesn't
- 10:11Speaker 1: play and Caleb Williams, who, you know, went down, like
- 10:14Speaker 1: it was the end of the world last week. We
- 10:15Speaker 1: don't know what's going to happen. But, yeah, if Case
- 10:17Speaker 1: Keenan plays, I mean, Luther Bird and Roman Dunzay, I
- 10:20Speaker 1: think you might play Loveland. You might think, like, maybe
- 10:23Speaker 1: the shorter targets work. He's got to complete some passes.
- 10:26Speaker 1: And it's not like you're going to bench Colston Loveland
- 10:29Speaker 1: so that you can go pick up, you know, some
- 10:32Speaker 1: tight end off the wire that's no good. But it's
- 10:36Speaker 1: bad for the Bears receivers. And I would say think
- 10:39Speaker 1: for the running game because you're going to load up.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I think Ben Johnson's creative, but working with a third-string quarterback,
- 10:43Speaker 1: he can only do so much.
- 10:44Speaker 2: All right, speaking of offenses that are struggling with quarterback,
- 10:47Speaker 2: it's a Thursday night game. It's Atlanta at Green Bay,
- 10:51Speaker 2: and here comes Michael Penix, and everyone's acting like, you know,
- 10:54Speaker 2: this is like, yeah, Johnny Unitas is healthy. We don't
- 10:56Speaker 2: know what Penix can do as a pro quarterback. So,
- 11:00Speaker 2: you know, he's the guy they've drafted high that they
- 11:03Speaker 2: have expectations for, but we don't have a lot of
- 11:06Speaker 2: evidence that he's a really good NFL quarterback. I guess
- 11:10Speaker 2: tonight will go a long measure to helping us get
- 11:13Speaker 2: an answer on Can he get Cal Pitts involved? Can
- 11:15Speaker 2: he get Drake London involved? You know, B. John's going
- 11:17Speaker 2: to get his stats, but can he get those Atlanta
- 11:19Speaker 2: Fantasy owners some points?
- 11:21Speaker 1: He's a big upgrade over Cooper Rush. So comparatively, he
- 11:25Speaker 1: probably is Johnny Unitas. But if you're looking at those
- 11:28Speaker 1: two guys that we talked about, looking at Panics' starts
- 11:32Speaker 1: last season, Drake London was fantastic. In nine starts for Panics,
- 11:37Speaker 1: London had 500-yard games. He had 60 catches for over
- 11:40Speaker 1: 800 yards and six touchdowns. If I had Drake London
- 11:44Speaker 1: on fantasy teams, I'd be really, really happy about this
- 11:46Speaker 1: because history suggests that Penix and London will work well together.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Pitts was way better with Cousins last year. Pitts had
- 11:53Speaker 1: those blow-up games near the end that made you and
- 11:57Speaker 1: I keep talking about him. With Kirk Cousins, not so
- 12:01Speaker 1: much with Drake London. Sorry, not so much with Michael Penix.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Pennix had nine starts. Pitts was 38 for 375 in
- 12:07Speaker 1: the touchdowns. Those are pedestrian numbers. So I think this
- 12:12Speaker 1: change is much better for London than it is for Pitts.
- 12:15Speaker 2: All right. Let's look at some injury situations. We talk quarterbacks,
- 12:20Speaker 2: but with the wide receivers, this one I take personally
- 12:23Speaker 2: because I need to know. Puka Nekua did not practice
- 12:26Speaker 2: on Wednesday with that groin injury. I don't like the
- 12:29Speaker 2: way this is starting out with Puka this year.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I don't like the way it's starting out either. And
- 12:34Speaker 1: right now, we don't. The vibes seem bad. You hear
- 12:38Speaker 1: the Rams and they kind of go, yeah, we don't know.
- 12:41Speaker 1: We're not sure if he's going to be back. So
- 12:42Speaker 1: you need to pivot if you have him.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Zay Flowers' hamstrings, as we know, those are hard to
- 12:47Speaker 2: predict as well. What do you think about his prognosis?
- 12:50Speaker 1: He didn't practice Wednesday, but the head coach said he has, quote,
- 12:54Speaker 1: a good shot to play on Sunday. The one thing
- 12:57Speaker 1: about that one, they're playing in Brazil against the Cowboys.
- 13:01Speaker 1: And the rumors last week, I don't know what it's
- 13:03Speaker 1: going to be like. A lot of people said, yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 1: the field's in really bad shape. And if you have
- 13:09Speaker 1: your star wide receiver with a bad hamstring, sending him
- 13:12Speaker 1: back on a bad surface, you might want to rethink it.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I don't know. I haven't heard anything like this from
- 13:18Speaker 1: the Ravens. I'm just kind of looking at it and
- 13:20Speaker 1: my spider sense is tingling about that.
- 13:22Speaker 2: So be careful if.
- 13:23Speaker 1: You've got safe flowers.
- 13:25Speaker 2: D.J. Moore, another question mark, I guess, for him. Buffalo?
- 13:28Speaker 1: Yeah, the shoulder. He got hurt last week. He was
- 13:31Speaker 1: limited in Wednesday's practice. Hopefully things will go okay. They're
- 13:33Speaker 1: playing the Chargers this week at home.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Nico Collins, I shouldn't even ask. He's not going to play, right?
- 13:38Speaker 1: I don't think so. He didn't practice Wednesday. Not looking good.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Brock Bowers, people have been living without him the first
- 13:45Speaker 2: two weeks. The best tight end in football. When healthy,
- 13:49Speaker 2: is he healthy for week three?
- 13:50Speaker 1: Supposedly, yes. Ian Rappaport, NFL Network, said he's going to play.
- 13:53Speaker 1: He had surgery, what, a week and a half ago?
- 13:55Speaker 1: Or two weeks ago? And he's going to play. So congrats,
- 13:59Speaker 1: Brock Bowers, fantasy managers. He's back.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Saquon Barkley with the stinger injury. What do we think
- 14:06Speaker 2: about him?
- 14:08Speaker 1: I don't know. And because they're playing Monday, they're not
- 14:10Speaker 1: practicing until Thursday, so we haven't heard anything this week.
- 14:13Speaker 1: He missed the first half of that game, but then
- 14:15Speaker 1: he came back. While he was out, it looked... In
- 14:19Speaker 1: the preseason, Tank Bigsby was the guy if Barkley went out.
- 14:23Speaker 1: When he went out last week, Bigsby shared work with
- 14:27Speaker 1: Will Shipley. Shout out Weddington High School. So Bigsby's probably
- 14:32Speaker 1: the early down back, but he's not the every down
- 14:34Speaker 1: back if Barkley's out. I still wouldn't mind starting Bigsby.
- 14:37Speaker 1: He's just not as much of a smash home run
- 14:40Speaker 1: kind of guy as we probably would have thought.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Denver Broncos, two weeks in, have injured all their running backs.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Has there ever been a season where J.K. Dobbins was
- 14:49Speaker 2: not injured early? No.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Pee-wee football, I think he got.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Hurt. Baltimore Ravens, Denver, I feel like he's always hurt. Now, R.J.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Harvey's also limited.
- 15:00Speaker 1: And it looked like everybody said at the beginning of
- 15:02Speaker 1: the week, oh, Jonah Coleman, he played last week, he's
- 15:04Speaker 1: got to go get Jonah Coleman. Well, he mispracticed on Wednesday, too,
- 15:07Speaker 1: because he has an ankle injury. So I don't know
- 15:08Speaker 1: what's going to happen there.
- 15:10Speaker 2: They treat their running backs like Atlanta treats their quarterbacks there.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Speaking of bad offenses, the Steelers are gross right now.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Rico Dowdle, Jalen Warren, both injured too. Not that either
- 15:22Speaker 2: one was doing anything great. I just don't know with
- 15:24Speaker 2: this Aaron Rodgers offense and what's going on out there
- 15:26Speaker 2: that there's going to be any big production from anybody
- 15:28Speaker 2: in Pittsburgh.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Pretty gross. I agree. Jalen Warren can be productive. That's
- 15:33Speaker 1: probably it. Like DK Metcalf. DK Metcalf, okay. It's a shame.
- 15:38Speaker 1: DK Metcalf was a top 10 receiver a couple years ago.
- 15:40Speaker 1: and now he's in the hell that is the Pittsburgh
- 15:43Speaker 1: offense that you don't really want to play him anymore. So, yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 1: not good all around. Warren's probably my favorite guy there.
- 15:49Speaker 2: New England, Travion Henderson, you got Ramondre Stevenson. What do
- 15:53Speaker 2: you think about these guys?
- 15:55Speaker 1: So last week, we talked about Travion Henderson coming back,
- 15:59Speaker 1: but it looked like through the preseason it was Ramondre
- 16:02Speaker 1: Stevenson's backfield. Everything pointed to them wanting to use him more.
- 16:05Speaker 1: They just trusted him more, and it was like, oh,
- 16:06Speaker 1: Travion's explosive, but we're not going to get to see
- 16:09Speaker 1: him much. And then last week, Ramondre Stevenson fumbled, and
- 16:12Speaker 1: then Trevion Henderson got a ton of work, and he
- 16:14Speaker 1: had a big touchdown, and he carried the ball 16 times.
- 16:16Speaker 1: So I don't know if that was a one-week blip,
- 16:18Speaker 1: but if you have Ramondre Stevenson on your fantasy team,
- 16:21Speaker 1: you have to worry at this point. I think that's
- 16:23Speaker 1: probably some sort of tandem. I don't really feel like
- 16:26Speaker 1: I have a handle on what's going to happen, and
- 16:27Speaker 1: if I had either one of them on my team,
- 16:29Speaker 1: I'd probably want to sit them until I found out.
- 16:31Speaker 2: All right, last block of questions here in regard to
- 16:34Speaker 2: who's out there possibly for people to pick up off
- 16:37Speaker 2: the waiver wire. Again, this could be just planning ahead
- 16:40Speaker 2: for bye weeks, or it could be injuries or suffering
- 16:42Speaker 2: or stashing players for a period of time. We mentioned
- 16:45Speaker 2: that both Bryce Young and Tyler Shuck probably picked up
- 16:48Speaker 2: by folks by now. Is there another quarterback out there?
- 16:51Speaker 1: I've actually got two. One is Malik Willis, who hasn't
- 16:54Speaker 1: run as much as we've wanted him to so far,
- 16:56Speaker 1: and I can't imagine they won't start running him since
- 16:57Speaker 1: their offense has been terrible. He's 32% rostered. They're playing
- 17:00Speaker 1: home versus the Chiefs, but if he's going to run
- 17:03Speaker 1: like I think, it doesn't matter if they're going to
- 17:05Speaker 1: lose by a lot. The other one is Geno Smith, 7% rostered.
- 17:10Speaker 1: They're playing at Detroit. The Detroit defense has been bad.
- 17:12Speaker 1: The Jets have been pretty aggressive throwing the ball downfield
- 17:15Speaker 1: with a couple of receivers doing well. The Jets aren't
- 17:18Speaker 1: an awful team at this point, and Geno's been kind
- 17:21Speaker 1: of okay. So if you're in a pinch this week,
- 17:24Speaker 1: actually it might be a week to start him.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Are there any running backs that exist on waiver wires?
- 17:30Speaker 1: They're bad. They really are. The Broncos was the one
- 17:33Speaker 1: this week, and that doesn't seem to be working out.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I will pick one. Emmanuel Wilson on the Seahawks came
- 17:39Speaker 1: in last week when Jadarian Price hurt his chest. Now,
- 17:41Speaker 1: Price might play, but Emmanuel Wilson is rostered in 22%
- 17:45Speaker 1: of leagues. He went 21 for 92. Now, a lot
- 17:48Speaker 1: of them were in the fourth quarter when they were
- 17:50Speaker 1: crushing the Cardinals, and Price wasn't there. but the guy
- 17:54Speaker 1: went 21 for 92 and I'm not sure they're just
- 17:56Speaker 1: going to point him back on the bench and just say,
- 17:58Speaker 1: you know, Hey, let's wait for the other guy to
- 17:59Speaker 1: get hurt again and you're buried. So I don't know
- 18:02Speaker 1: if he's going to get a ton of carries. He
- 18:04Speaker 1: could get 10. I would rather not start him this
- 18:06Speaker 1: week unless I was in a bad spot, but he's
- 18:08Speaker 1: the type of guy you can pick up and see
- 18:10Speaker 1: what happens.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Okay. Same question. Wide receivers. You mentioned Gino Smith. Anyone
- 18:14Speaker 2: to throw to?
- 18:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Adonai Mitchell. Uh, last week he was six for
- 18:17Speaker 1: 63 on 12 targets. They, They threw to him a bunch.
- 18:21Speaker 1: So I like that one quite a bit. He's rostered
- 18:24Speaker 1: in 36% of Yahoo leagues.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Okay, so tight end position is always rough. I had Goddard.
- 18:29Speaker 2: He was actually very good the first week. He got injured, though.
- 18:32Speaker 2: So I had to pick somebody up, and I'm glad
- 18:33Speaker 2: to see this is your pick now that I made
- 18:35Speaker 2: the pick a couple days ago. Rondae Gadsden with the Chargers.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Somebody's got to start catching the ball in that offense.
- 18:41Speaker 2: All the receivers are hurt.
- 18:42Speaker 1: That's right. And Gadsden last year had a few blow-up weeks,
- 18:47Speaker 1: and everybody loved him and picked him up. And he
- 18:49Speaker 1: was the hottest pickup in fantasy football. And then they
- 18:51Speaker 1: stopped throwing to him. And everybody got manned. And this year,
- 18:54Speaker 1: it's like, eh, they've got three other tight ends. They've
- 18:56Speaker 1: got Njoku and Kolar. And just forget Aranda Gadsen. Well,
- 19:01Speaker 1: now the other guys, Kolar and Njoku. Njoku's going on IR.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Kolar's probably now not, but he's still going to be
- 19:08Speaker 1: out a while. Gadsen's the last man standing at tight end.
- 19:11Speaker 1: I think he'll probably be productive. And you can get
- 19:13Speaker 1: him in most Yahoo leagues if you want him in
- 19:14Speaker 1: the 17% roster. All right.
- 19:17Speaker 2: And, you know, coaches always talk about all three phases,
- 19:19Speaker 2: meaning special teams as well. And depending how your league
- 19:22Speaker 2: is set up, defense and special teams are sometimes impacted
- 19:26Speaker 2: and sometimes just defense alone. But what are some decent
- 19:29Speaker 2: plays on the defensive side as far as obviously facing
- 19:32Speaker 2: offenses where some of these defenses can pounce and get
- 19:35Speaker 2: some sacks and some takeaways?
- 19:37Speaker 1: I think the Panthers, based on what we saw last
- 19:39Speaker 1: week and based on them playing against the Browns, even
- 19:41Speaker 1: though they're on the road, are a pretty good one.
- 19:43Speaker 1: And you can get them in, I think, 73% of Yahoo!
- 19:45Speaker 2: Leagues.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I'm also going to look at the Giants. They're 8% rostered.
- 19:48Speaker 1: They're playing home against the Titans. I don't think Cam
- 19:52Speaker 1: Warren's very good. I think some sacks and turnovers seem likely,
- 19:55Speaker 1: and I think that Giants' pass rush has to get
- 19:57Speaker 1: better than it's been with all the talent they have
- 19:59Speaker 1: up front, even though Brian Burns might not play this week.
- 20:01Speaker 1: They're saying he might be out a little while, but
- 20:03Speaker 1: I think the Giants will kind of step it up
- 20:05Speaker 1: in their– is it their home opener? No, they played– sorry,
- 20:09Speaker 1: the home opener was the first week. But in this
- 20:11Speaker 1: home game against the Titans, I think they're in a
- 20:13Speaker 1: good spot.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Yep, and Burns' ankle injury, the expectation is that he
- 20:17Speaker 2: will not play in this game against Tennessee. All right,
- 20:20Speaker 2: great stuff as always from John Halpin. John will visit
- 20:22Speaker 2: again on Sunday for the pregame show from Cleveland. And
- 20:26Speaker 2: hopefully the Panthers can get out of there with a
- 20:28Speaker 2: winning record, 2-1. Sounds great if they can pull it off.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Sounds great to me. Thanks, Jim.
